The states picked up their third straight, where were they 2010 went over the eagles, New Orleans, took the 7th thing, they didn't know one yard run by Taysom Hill. They sealed the victory when Marshawn latimer put another pass by Gardner and menchu and ran it back 11 yards for a score and a Dalton through two to four yards for the saints who improved the 7 and 9 when you look at how you finish the season. There's a lot to say for that and there's a lot that you can carry over and you want to be playing your best football at the end of the year and I feel like we're doing that. Mention had one touchdown pass for the Bridget is still clinched against the eastern Division Championship and the number one overall seed with the win next week. Eric waddell watched the Buccaneers clinch a playoff birth. Tampa Bay out lasted Carolina 30 to 24. The win for the bucks clinched the NFC south title, bucks wide receiver Chris Godwin had a 120 receiving yards and says his team is building for whoever Tampa plays in the playoff. My legacy gets anybody, man. You know, and I feel like we, you know, we still got a ways to go. We still got some things that we got to work on. But, you know, that was a big step for us. The Patriots still have playoff hopes. Gregg cadets, reports. The New England Patriots kept their playoff hopes alive with a 23 21 come from behind victory over the Miami Dolphins. "Like to welcome in now the greet buster only espn baseball insider host of the baseball tonight. Podcast can follow at buster underscore. Espn buster always great to talk to you. Guys are man so buster. The dodgers clinched their ninth street playoff spot with a win last night. How important is it for them to actually win the division though with these surprising giants well. It's it's absolutely huge. The funny thing was about nine days ago. We had the dodgers and giants sunday night. Baseball and i asked that very question of neighbors. The dodgers manager any kind of blinked looked at me and he goes. You know what it's too out. I haven't even given a thought right. He's still in the moment of the regular season. But you know now down the stretch with less than three weeks ago it's going to become a focal point because we've seen time and again how great players can be derailed. By that wildcard game. There were a couple of years Seven eight years ago when it looked like at the end of the regular season the pittsburgh pirates were the best team in the national league but they had to go through wildcard game and it back to back years they face madison bumgarner to the beginning of the greatest postseason run. We've ever seen any pitcher that was in two thousand fourteen and they lost and then the next year they got jake arrieta at the end of the greatest second half we ever saw from pitcher And they lost again and so the dodgers have a chance to be the first team to win back to back titles since The nineteen ninety. Eight to two thousand yankees. I think that the best team in baseball right now but one game. You just never

"We are back and it is great To have keyshawn johnson on the program who is of course Part of espn radio's morning team. And you see him all the time and truly one of the great football players in college in. Nfl history the first player taken in the nfl draft after he was an all american at usc. Keyshawn it is real. Been with you a million times on your shows have been around you and What a pleasure to have you come into our little neighborhood good afternoon. No you're not small man not with that call or call it. The the the pine bomb nation says you. You certainly have a following from the east of the west coast and all in between for sure with you max. Kellerman this morning and kellerman was Impugning my good name about my shrinking influence in college. Football and the main reason is that usually I get accused of being a coach killer but you ended up getting fired. This time around Keyshawn very outspoken about klay hilton in the aftermath of the embarrassment. Saturday night in keyshawn. Of course Seemed like he was inevitable Once once that game ended you seem to be ahead of the curve on that. Well i think you you know. It was something that needed to happen. At the time in our leadership we need to go in another direction in order to get back on track as you know many years at you as you covered college football weary tile program that has kind of been repeat washing. Ranch repeat washing rent and we wanted to finally get away from that Yes if we were in the final. Four at the end of the season play extension. If we lose a game you probably fire. Well guess what. We lost the game. And i and i think this was the situation might bone that. The athletic director had an opportunity to evaluate Clay hill nova period of time and he came away feeling along with carol folks. The president university that it was time to make a leadership change. And you know when you are proud of your university and you wanna see your university talked about with the light of the alabama clemson the ohio states in the world right now in college football. That is something that you want to hear. You don't wanna hear that. Oregon in the pac twelve is head and shoulders above the usc football program. You don't wanna hear that because as much money as phil knight has it as much money feel nike and company to oregon's athletic program till night is the university of southern california I'll touchdown in deeper. Conversation routes call if you go back to nineteen seventy in the late sam bam cunningham and i tell people all the time say. He's the reason the the sec. He integrated asking americans or better yet. He's play persuaded their bryant to integrate the alabama program. But that was all usc when you have that rich history of something. You want to make sure that that could teams and we. We got away from that. We got away from that rich history. And now we're trying to get back there. And hopefully whoever they hired the next year coach will understand vicious dot university in this about a game to play with. When you come to be a trojan head coach sean. I want to talk about that for a second. Because you're right and you know we're we're a lotta younger people. Watching or listening. I mean they know pete carroll and they've seen what's happened since but but john mccain as one of the greatest coaches and in college football history john robinson. There's a long line of sc coaches who who are who are part of the hall of fame and who who helped build this. When you played there you grew up in los angeles. I'm curious what it was like. It'd be part of that university because it has lost some of that. At least from a perceptive standpoint you apply. I grew up a stone. Throw away from the university. My apartment building. We can sit on top. It's almost like the chicago cubs stadium. I can sit on top of our roof in watch mark. Maguire hit a home run or randy. Johnson strikeout people. When i was growing up. That was all. I knew if you didn't want to go to. Usc it was either one thing you were not good enough. It wasn't a matter of wasn't even wasn't even close to anything of it. Well he's probably not good enough that's why he's going somewhere else. In this day and age we got players leaving southern california to go all over the country. That is not acceptable. You you bree cardinal and gold this to one program on the west coast that i would say people support the university's football program. Even though they didn't attend university see again. There are people better. Usc fan bed did not attend the university. That is how rich the supporting system is in the football program. In and it's i remember. I remember running out of the tunnel in nineteen ninety five and when i came out of college tunnel and i stepped on the grass. Paul you thought. I was a six year old baby. Who stepped on a nail. I cry with big tears. Because i finally got a chance to run out of the tunnel where the us a uniform and it was amazing. Chilling in that is what we have always been about guys dreaming as kids of becoming usc football players. You go to rouge a weekend. There kids who dream of running out of the lsu tunnel you go to alabama. Oh my god. There were kids that dream of running out of alabama journal. Well that's not the case anymore and we've got to get back to that question that's been asked all day long or at least since yesterday as you know. What should the leadership at this university. Your university do. I know you you. You are part of that. You'll be consulted you'll be asked What would you tell them if they if and when they ask you get it right get right listen rush lifts not do something for self-preservation A lot of times we felt as part of the university and that the several hires in the past was because the athletic department mini me. People were in the afternoon apartment for many years so the easy thing was. Hey let's hire somebody. That was part of pete carroll's situation and we now could be taken care of and make sure self-preservation we don't going where everything will be fine and higher lane kiffin. There's higher steve sir keith you oh this. Fire lane kiffin. Let's not go in bringing body we're gonna get our oldest fire. Oda best thing to do is just hire somebody on his staff the preservation what i would say to that is at that time based on where steve sarkisian was in his personal life in where our university was. The best thing to do was hire somebody who calmed the waters in a guy with clear hilton. He was not going to create the same sort of issues that a young immature lane. Kiffin created or a young immature. Steve sarkisian created for the university was going to be stabilized in. Hopefully he would mature into their head. Coaching role in guinness over the top for the national championship. Now we've seen that now. We need to hire somebody that can take us to the next step who that somebody is right now. I have no idea. I have no idea. I know what a person will look like when i see it all right now..

"Quickly and easily over wifi. Visit sonos dot com to learn more. Welcome back to my friend. Minute ago. From jasper alabama. I haven't updated and i i was. I was incorrect about malnourished. He was technically recruited by the previous staff that preceded coach bryant. And so he did me coach bryant and usa jokin jokingly. Tell the story that the first time he met him he was shaking so much brian subtle. A him he said. I'm elmore nice to meet you. Bear and he said he never made that mistake again. he was from dosier alabama. Which i believe is more south central alabama near laverne alabama on the way to the beach. let's see so anything else you want to know about mel more. I'll be more than happy to provide you with a signed copy of his book which he did right. Let's get back to the calls and checking with brian. Who was in new jersey. Hello brian i wanna jacket. Estate team florida state. And you can use florida. State's at joke They have undisciplined. players They they let a they let an easy. An easy play should have been the end of the game turned into the winning touchdown. So now jackson state going to be like a team. That's going to be a sleeper team to get into the national championships first of all. It's called jacksonville. State and It's a it's an fcs team. So i think you're going to see them as a challenger for the cfp you don't don't bounce back. No i don't think florida state is dead. I think their season went down the drain. And i see no road back for that program. Thank you mrs. Lincoln did you enjoy. I mean listen. I thought after the notre dame game this the seminoles on a lot to build on but i i think they threw it all away and You see you see. I didn't see anything in that game. That impressed me you watch watch watch the last play of the game It tells you everything you need to know about that program. Let's continue and sam is up next in kentucky. Hello sam hello paul Not a data frequent collar but very frequent listener. Very much. Like a mike from jasper. Uh i'm recently retired and also seventy two years old. And i think we're headed into what i call the best one hundred to one hundred twenty days of college sports and i just wanted to call and command you all for the good job as you i have. I'm a little bit of a traditional traditionalist. Paul if help me. I'd like you to champion something that you know. We got texas and oklahoma coming in and twenty four to thirty six months. Maybe and we need to straighten out something for texas. Okay do me a favor of raise your right hand up and hold up your index finger and your little thanks and that's the way people in texas right now kind of do the hook them horns while in my hay day back in the middle of the last century hook. Them horns was the index finger. The middle finger were down. The little finger stuck it up in the thumb stuck out and hold your hand up like that that is hook them horns. Oh so. I don't think they need to straighten it out and you play is a clearing house for the top drawer league in the country's south eastern conference. And if you do that you could straight those people from texas out. I know horns down better than horns up I had enough people in arkansas. Teach me how to do it. Yes well hey hold your hand up now. Now what what do you call this when your fingers are weird when join your your middle finger and your third finger down. Have your an that way your little finger near tom. Straight out cameron. And if you do that that's the way a texas longhorn steer looks. Is that a steer right there. Okay well turn you. Yeah turn your hand round. I'm holding mine up here at home right now. I took them horn. You're you're right Every steer i've ever known look more like that than the than the traditional. Hey thanks so much for the call. We have plenty of time to get an education on the horns up appreciate it. Let's check in with pappy. Who is up next in houston. Hello pappy. I had no paul. Thanks for taking my call. Thank you listen. Just curious From my assessment Presuming we win the other two. Talk about lsu when the other two cupcake games. We've got to win three games. Three games to avoid losing a losing season and four to to have a winning season. Could you go down the scheduling and let me know which three or fourteen g think. We have the best shot at this point time. Considering all the play from the first two weeks of the season we have her schedule. So i see a win against central michigan. That puts you a two in one. And i for the life of me cannot predict Any other game other than monroe. See four wins for automatic wins. That's hold on one. Two three three three wins and give me a fourth win. What's the next easiest win. Can't find one you. Yeah no yeah. I see what you're saying now if you want to talk about what. The most critical game of the season is going to be. It's going to be mississippi state a loss. There is going to devastate the season because then Auburn kentucky florida at on this at alabama. I mean that's that's that is a murderer's row. And then the arkansas. An finish show. I i i happen to think. Lsu will get through. Some of the. I don't think lsu will have a losing season. I think they'll have a winning season and it's four. Sec teams okay. okay. I think i think the most winnable games are going to be auburn and arkansas. Okay read the reason simple. There are at home. Yeah okay all right well thank you. I appreciate your alison. I just wanted to thank you for an interesting about your call is we. Went from thinking Lsu go ten and to easily to now. We're not sure where they're going to win it. It's you don't know yet i mean i. I still happen to think. They've got a lot of great players on that team. So i would go on the high side but i really do need to see the mississippi state game because lsu has left a lot to be desired. Mitch is up next in florida. Hello mitch hey. How are you doing today mitch. We were doing great. Thank you well. I'm a kennedy ball down here in florida. And i wanted to talk about the quarterback situation at ut knoxville. Okay sure I just can't help but feel that harris Bailey that they put those two quarterbacks in before he him and Why wouldn't hair some bailey. go train. Spur proposal if them coaches him to quarterbacks was bad you're you're right. I mean know. One from virginia tech one from michigan. And suddenly you think you have a shot at starting being a starter and the next thing you know. You're you're relegated to the back of the bench. Yeah Milton i'm mean wide. Receivers run the nope. And he stole it hundred miles an hour over their head and the khokar he could throw a little bit. Around the line of scrimmage out. I just don't believe able one of them of better than harrison bailey. Who was recruited by tennessee into their program. Mitch i think comes under. The heading of new is better. We we see that in in every industry and every business. And i. I suspect josh hypo got there and said you know what I don't like what the previous group had. And.

That's four hours of your life right there. let's get some headlines and let you know what is happening in. yeah. The florida situation remains interesting. What should they do. They have to good quarterbacks or do they. I know one thing is certain. They have alabama coming in this weekend. Shane beamer remember. He was here last night telling us that his kids were second guessing him today. He's not second guessing. Anyone he's laying the platitudes at the feet of kirby smart and the georgia bulldogs. Can you guess that is the next game saturday night. You guys know better than me. You many of you have followed. Sec football warmer than i have but he may have probably does have the most talented football team in the history of georgia football and that's not an embellishment and coachspeak and all of that when you look at From top to bottom the eleven that start on offense the eleven that start on defense all of their special teams units the depth. They have the size the physicality the speed. They have hold on just a second. He just got through saying you guys have covered it longer than i have so in other words. I'm not really an expert but this is the best team of all time. Okay that we can get back to the show. I was just wonder. I was just talking to myself there. Does that make any sense. We'll must champ is helping georgia prepare for south carolina. No no. He's at georgia now. He's no longer south carolina. Remember two years ago. We'll mush chambal at an upset of those dogs. And now he works for them but he still collecting money from south carolina by the way southern cal continues to look for a new coach. He was amount about this moment. A day ago that southern california director mike bone called in clay hilton. And said you're gone. I know there's only been two games. We've seen enough. Here's ten or twelve million or whatever we owe you just get out of here as fast as possible. "You're going in the right direction But you're not one of those teams yet like ravens like the steelers liked the patriots. We're you know year in and year out there in the thick of things. They will compete. Usually that's because the head coach and the quarterback or keyshawn dare i say elite or at least high level. So what. I'm looking for in this game. Jay and the reason i think it means more all those points. Keyshawn made fans in the stands. You know a new stadium all that stuff every year. You're taking another step. You have to win a game like this and there were so many chances to lose it but they kept fighting and what it what does it say keyshawn specifically about their car who you have in the past called a top five quarterback. I think it says that he is going to arrive you. If he's been with. Jon gruden three years now right j. three years each year if you want to go off. Statistics in numbers. His interception total is not high at all his touchdowns of solid his yardage around four thousand. So this year he'll throw for forty five hundred made though for five thousand yards. He's getting better and better and better. And i think what happens in this situation. People don't like deer core. They don't they just don't like him right so no matter what you say about it and they go poo poo it anyway in. They always think the john grooten dislikes him because gruden doesn't say anything and wasn't his guy and when he says something they think you lying and it's like wait a minute. Look at the film. I gotta do was derek carr. One of the reasons you think gruden wanted that job quarterback established at that point. Remember when he took the job three years ago car was coming off two years prior to that a year two years prior to that he was coming off an mvp type season till he got hurt. And then they go to houston. and they loo- gets. Who's the best quarterback in the game. Andrew luck or derek carr write all the sudden and then he wanted to. He actually challenged me to fight me in the octagon. Because i said i thought he quit in some game and and he got mad. I remember that. I said i would take the challenge for car. Not for me. Thanks i wanna see you take off from me j. I had a question around their cards for key. Because you said that correctly the the key. Saying i didn't hear key said i heard you say that key called him a top quarterback. Yeah yeah yeah. I said he's a. I said he is an elite top-five. If that's what if that is the the gauging standard for me for. I would take him as a top five quarterback. I don't have an issue with him. Being a top five okay. So we're not taking him over. Patrick mahomes tom. Brady aaron rodgers right. That's safe to say you're going to take no. I'm not necessarily no. I'm not taking them over. Russell wilson either okay. So there's four about this shawn watson. he's not right now okay. So he's not raise. Nobody's not scott same to me. So that's it's that level on the ceiling for decades experts that level five. It doesn't sound to me like you mean literally five whether it's five seven four here you go see. That's what you bring to the show. The columbia you bring that smart intelligent. Clean it up and good looks. Let's face it. Let's just be but yes you talking that five to seven six eight what i read henry rather have matthew stafford addict saint guy at the same thing according to our producer us three and i don't really follow the whole twitter craze but apparently doing the game i was. What do you call it trending or something negatively about me saying the deer car was a top five. God this is whatever will our producers it in. They didn't watch the whole damn game. They're watching a player to house. A top five guys levels in other words..

"Eight seven on waikiki. Continues to be so wrong about mary. Keyshawn keyshawn keyshawn. What a bad week for you my friend. When are you going to learn was bad enough. That usc got clobbered. Our zona cardinals. They destroy the tennessee. Titans on the road. And your boy tyler. Murray could not be stuck. You know that four touchdowns passing another touchdown running and they go on the road a hostile environment and they wedged thirty eight to thirteen. Or you you lose a thousand dollars to me last year thousand dollars to charity. Believe in kyle amari. He's going to be the next quarterback to get forty million dollars. Mark it down in the arizona cardinals go to the playoffs. You watch that game and they would just kill. Antipolo was watching stanford and usc all over again. When will you learn dope-ban against kyla. Murray and the cardinals. He's legit yet. You need to learn your lesson. In gala legit guinot should watch out for that rattlesnake behind him and then arizona they look. Here's what i would say. First of all is nothing against calamari. I can't stand the air rate at cannot stand it. I watched it at usc this past week and one hundred percent right. It is the worst offense going. They played against the tennessee. Titans which is bad defense in my opinion. But there's a coroner's look good on offense. You give them their credit column running around doing what he does best. He even the ball using his legs. Chandler jones on the side of the ball five sacks. He abused that left. Tackle was ridiculous. That left tackle needs to go in to figure out at the national guards could help save him away from challenge. Gels column murray played fantastic. Two hundred eighty nine yards four touchdowns an air one on the ground. Ill-advised pick beer at the end of the day. Do i think arizona cardinals are gonna make hay on this. Keep it positive. I love when i say positive. Things about the red sea just makes my soul glow top of that today. Let me finish. Somebody stole my voice because there wasn't me that made all of those things talk negative about carlos. It wasn't me else. All i'm saying is this is the most entertaining team in football in my opinion watching calorie watching hop watching. Jj watt and a defensive end watching channel. Jones get paid your money get paid your money back five sacks with way. He came off the edge. I don't care about tennessee. The tennessee was disappointing for arizona dominated. Not run the huddle offense. Let's run the no heart. Let's run the no huddle all right. Let's get onto the next pastor dolphins and patriots in a battle of former alabama quarterbacks to attack a vilo and the dolphins got the best of mack jones and the patriots. With the seventeen sixteen win. Here's our espn patriots. Reporter mike reese on jones's nfl debut. The patriots lost. But mac joan showed promise and also how he doesn't care about memorabilia. From his first career touchdown pass after the throw as jones job to the sideline receiver nelson agar tried to hand him. The ball and jones passed it off. He explained why afterwards saying it doesn't really matter it's just one touchdown it's not like the game was over right there. We got to score more in the red zone and we will. The work continues next sunday against the jets key. Were you want you you go for. You said you wanted to say i. I find interesting like even in the loss. When other quarterbacks go through a loss they kinda get they go to the woodshed but we're maktum has lost. It's still it's really really good. Well it's a narrative that's being built. And i think when you look at back jones. He did. He did a pretty good job but engineering. The offense and doing what you know young. Tom brady early years of tom. Brady is exactly what you kinda saw with. Jones hit a few shots across the middle but other than that he played played. Well i think he played well enough to continue to grow next week against the jets. He'll he'll be able to take that medicine really well this week. Losing to the dolphins and carry into the jets game. And i'm sure he will improve on that but on the other side of the business to took care business for the miami dolphins. They went to foxborough. he got the. W that's all it really matters. I know a lot of people are looking at the stat line with too and sitting there going. oh well. It's not giving us what we want at the quarterback spot all i want ws out of back and he got that too is gonna have to show some consistency this year after a up and down. Let's say rookie year and mack. Jones is now where he was. He's a rookie all right. Let's let's keep this no.

"Down third day number. Nineteen penn state number twelve wisconsin. This may be a throwback game even though the big is not a throwback league anymore both of these teams play defense and run. The football penn state is when the last four meetings and wisconsin's struggle really ranked teams. They've lost five straight as ranked teams in the last five meetings. Yeah i think it's going to be a low scoring bat on this game. I get a slight edge. The penn state. I do look forward to seeing sean clifford. Going very solid wisconsin secondary deals wisconsin's gonna run the football. You know what they're gonna do that being style. They're gonna push people around the front if they can get back to playing wisconsin football then. Hey the loss of michael parsons in on the defensive side of the ball for penn. State's could certainly help. In their secondary joy porter jr. is could be a tremendous asset for them. But we'll see last one. I leased all. This is all keyshawn. San jose state at your number fifteen usc trojans keen slow has average over three hundred one yards per game in his career. Trailing only ucf quarterback dealing gabri among active players. In your head you worry. You know how i feel about the air raid offense and this is what we run at. Usc we aired all over the place so satistics. He's going to be on par with some of the top quarterbacks in the country but that's not the key mistakes that out kion slovak's is made in the past has come back to hurt usc. They're facing a san jose state team. That went seven and one in the mid america conference last year. So we'll see drake jackson front. We'll see with drake. Young london does at the receiver position. I may golden game. Pac twelve network. Haven't decided yet. By the way. San jose state has lost fourteen straight against pac twelve teams. That's keyshawn johnson. Feel a little bit better about being upset victim. Keyshawn.

"Garrett cole against chris sale of the red sox that would be a lot of fun. Buster we know the giants and the dodgers are the best two teams in baseball right now. Is there a sneaky team that we're not talking about that. Can come out of nowhere in this world series from the dodgers. The milwaukee brewers. Look they're not gonna get a lot of attention among casual fans but when you look at their rotation and you look at the strength of their bullpen and how their offense is improving. It seems like christian yelich has worked through some things and he's performing a lot better key that rotation dat bullpen can be anybody in short series. There it's felt at times when the brewers have played the dodgers in the postseason. That past like there's a big difference but corbin burns is probably the number one contender in the national league. As of this morning with walker. Bueller for the cy young award. He's been tremendous year five homers allowed in one hundred thirty nine innings brandon woodruff freddie peralta. That's an excellent team. Very dangerous in a short series and fun to watch people don't know about the milwaukee brewers. They play an exciting style baseball. Hit him on twitter. He's a great following. What you mean if we if we talked about this year we're not talking about two thousand twenty but we just want so if he was paying attention and listening to the show this past season i was no i was. I'm just saying that. How much is it going to be even more in back to back it. Then when we take our old guys run the heart would win it again. All of our old kai look how dp smile and look at them. You can't even wipe that smile space even if you wanted to hear such an old. Nba team. There's no way carmelo could ever help us win another yes. Brian stay healthy man. Well put it this way. Do you wanna go complaint department here. One or two don't agree with that okay. So today. ki came up with his trio's yesterday where the duo's today's the trio's it's offensive trails on each team and it adds the quarterback so this of course looks a little different when you add quarterbacks and who's not on. "Hundred seventy seven game. One awesome moments for me in october. Two thousand thirteen. They named phil. Bobby downfield his wife him and walked out from the goalposts elapsed midfielder despite spared in in the sodo hand but we better four hundred and fifty five hundred players. Were all backed up. All the way up to midfield and we weren't talking about three hundred seventy seven wins or the national championships in the heisman. Guys we talking about high impact our lives now become coaches or leaders in our world or or fathers just how you impact our lives more than the win so incredibly sad sad weekend. Great time to celebrate his life now brad. Did you move to louisiana. Are you still living in florida georgia. 'cause you for whatever for whatever reason you certainly are sending lsu a bunch of the johnsons. The play football. Jake is now near the tide in max's the quarterback. How fun is that going to be this year. Being able to see that. Take take shape. Also a jake. He's a senior high school committed. He'll go there early january next year So he's excited about nazis. In the second year. They got struck last game of the year last year of beat florida swamp and had old missing shootout game. He worked harder day. We keep the road hot on friday saturday sundays. Five her ninety miles from athens the baton rouge and and world problem go on saturdays. It's awesome know it'd be fun to watch this guy. Johnson just like you and i goes speaking of that all right so we call this key. Spn the dynasty. Here's keyshawn here on this team now but you obviously won the ultimate prize. He won the championship with key. You've got to have at least one or two stories from the huddle the sideline something. Because even he admits. I'm not speaking out attorney. Even he admits that he could be a little difficult to deal with at times. Even though of course you can have success. So can you share with us. That will always stay with you. A good story involving you and key. Yeah real quick. Make a real quick washington. Jesse wrote the ball. He wrote the book. Give you the damn is on toma. Why nick i never wanna keep shouting motorsport. I don't get it. We had this guy. Jon gruden young his quarterback rich gannon. That's all my wife out number one that guy so we all hook it up. All three of join forces win the super bowl journey. Time out hanging out but to buddies. Keyshawn jon gruden and all of a sudden calm while we're trying to figure out what played a key shabas man pop more smell. A i. love has an popcorn two so we're talking about popcorn super bowl and during timeouts pretty awesome. But i love playing with key cues. He's never got it didn't he. Didn't bank for the ball. You know everybody says the amendment hard one time on monday night football game playing the rams and i think you had one catch in second chorus at kia during timeout. I'm gives you some balls or don't worry and key said brad's make your res making throws now enough catches in the end all workout. We need to win the game. So teammate really. Appreciate maoz together capri well see. This is breaking news key. Never said to you. Get me the damn ball. We want only one time. One time brad in the detroit game where you stood in there and you held out for god we're running digs against cover to men and i could not get inside the saved my life and we call. That played three times in a row. And we came to you. Remember i said brad. I am going to the corner. I don't give a damn what they say. You remember a you hill. You got hit right square in the face. You let it go. In the end result was a touchdown. We won the game at the end of the last player. The damn game you. We want only. That's the only time. I demanded the football discovery. Man throw it up. Joint is a corinth. They brought a week bliss. I got smiling. He caught the defender. We went home celebrate. Says he didn't change the play. And i'll listen to him south at least one time at least one thanks very similarly here. Now he says. Just give me the damn mic. So i just have to step out of the way but anyways great to talk to you. Good to catch up. Thank you so much for the time. Be urban brad johnson again. Won the super bowl with the bucks with keyshawn johnson. And of course that great defense that you definitely have credit to us. I'm a. I'm just saying just make sure we never ever ask for the football. So let's stop. That myth is well just because the name of the book was. Just give me down ball. That's thing is. That's the name of the cia runway and even he said damn book and read it. Thank you because that's what he said. I saw the title. I'd never want to play that guy but if you read the book which have you realize it's not about that at all. It's not about everything else and it's actually a good reason later. I almost show you to highlight. We'll get a chance to of that throwing catch from him. It's unbelievable kambli. Yeah you have another book out right and a couple of weeks. Yeah guyana forgotten i. It'll be out yeah. September twenty point that out as well amazingly in that book key doesn't talk about himself shocking. Coming up next major league baseball proved that if you build it they will come. Just didn't build it with a cornfield in the outfield..

"Filling in for the guys and i know keyshawn probably not gonna be happy about this but you gotta state the facts. We're talking about advantage. Atoms right Including the playoffs folks. Keyshawn johnson in one hundred and seventy four career games. Had sixty six touchdown receptions davante adams in one hundred and eleven career games has seventy touchdown receptions. So let me tell you what this means. That means. that adams could go without a touchdown and Without a touchdown catch. I should say for his next seventy three games. Over four full seasons and still average more touchdown catches per game than keyshawn. Johnson stats incredible is brought to you by computer career training for a better life. I'm going to jump in here. I got the key. He's not here to defend themselves prior even awake. Have you seen the quarterbacks that keyshawn johnson play with. I mean devante. Adams has aaron rodgers keys. Brad johnson vinny testaverde and shaun king. Hey you know what. We're not talking about the quarterbacks we're talking about the receivers here. I was just stated. Do not i do. Oh you're right. I wasn't trying to take a shot at. He shot you work. You aren't i just was pointing out the facts just for a little comparison. Don't see what a good receiver dante. It's always trying to do. Let me be very clear. Keyshawn eight lists right now. So that's one number. Two keyshawn caught sixty six touchdowns in the national. Football league foley. Vinny testaverde's brad. Johnson and shaun king. That's two and number three 'kisan shots. He caught sixty six more touchdowns than me. And you combine along. Do you remember when he was coming after. You telling that notre dame shouldn't be in the college football playoff. I was trying to support my husband right back. That's a great point. They shouldn't have. That's all that's that's a great point so you know what yes. I'll be all. He could play seventy four boardgames devante. Go let's go to passing. that's right. That's what i try to say like kisha. We miss you a little here on the show. No don't don't don't go soft dough fall into the beef. We miss shots to keep it out of the way when he started. Disrespected me all year. All bull season leading up to notre dame alabama game notre dame lost keyshawn was right but notre dame was competitive played. Alabama's close. They weren't let's go. Let's go and notre dame played alabama better than anybody could argue. I just was pointing out the facts. Of why i was coming with some heat this morning. Solo act this beef all right. He saw clapback shave keppler cornet. She could be alert for this one. Because my name's ben. And i ain't in it okay. Let's bring in tanenbaum show. Espn nfl front office insider. He joins us here. On the goodyear hotline. Good morning. mike tannenbaum. Do you think that was too harsh of a shot at just really quick. Hey i'm the one that this discussion stuff. Now i will say this. He was an underrated blocker and he was extraordinarily tough has a receiver so we got to give him credit. So but hey when you get two first round. Picks for key schon. That's the trade. We make all day long but he was a good player. Fair enough okay. We've talking all morning. The headline this morning is obviously aaron rodgers. Staying with the green bay packers according to reports. He is there in green bay. We'll report the training camp today. And so what is your reaction of how this all went down. And what the resolution was you know. We've been saying this for six months that this was going to be the compromise. I always felt this was the way it was going to go. I'd like to get a lot more details if we go back to august fourth twenty nine thousand nine hundred. Tom brady modified this contract. That made that the last year of his contract new england new zealand couldn't franchise him in transition him. I haven't seen those details yet. So my question is what happens next spring. If and when green bay says you to what. We're not going to trade you. So i'd like to see the details about what it actually means to revisit the situation because as a former gm i i would be very surprised at aaron rodgers would agree just to this sort of like what's being reported as like a good faith understanding so my that leads me to the question of d expect another. Shoot a fall here so to speak is. Is there something else coming. That maybe brought air rogers to this position that we're in now where he's returning. I don't know that we have to see the details of the contract because you can easily address. What rogers was hoping to do. Which is what you do is you could shorten his contract. You could eliminate twenty twenty three and you can eliminate two thousand twenty to the fact that as of right now this morning tuesday morning. It's being reported as they're going to revisit. It would be conservative on aaron rodgers. Because what happens if there's a new gm next year lock it happen. We could sit here and speculate all day. The point is unless it's in the contract like again if we go back to august four twenty nine hundred thousand. It was very clear that when. Tom brady renegotiate his contract with the patriots. He was gonna be a free agent and he could it be franchise. That doesn't seem to be the case here. So i'm very curious to see what the contract looks like. And then obviously he'll play the season as a packer and then we'll go from there. But i think there's a lot more that needs to be found out about what the contract looks like. We're talking about speculating. And that's what we're going to continue to do here. Unfortunately and kishan j. will in jordan cornet filling in for the guys this morning. We're on the goodyear hotline with mike tannenbaum. Espn nfl front office. Inside are so speculation. here. We go mike if if they do win the super bowl what do you think happens with rogers. Do you think he sticks around for another year or two or do you think he's on his way no matter what well it's interesting. Everything seems to be reporting going back to what happened in the draft two years ago. Which was he wasn't told that they could be drafting jordan. Love i think that's a situation you can solve. I've been a front office. I've made mistakes. I've been able to look agents players in the eyes closed door. Work things out and we'll move forward together so you would like to think they could work things out. I'm surprised it's taken this long. But look they were able to put a band aid on the situation if i was green bay if i was mark murphy i was. Brian goudie constant floor. I would keep going back to one word. That is legacy. Why do you want to go be a bronco. Why would you want to go. Be a raider. A saint wherever. Why don't you fisher career here..

"The time all the time. There's you probably think they run down there and get into a pile. No i don't okay so you don't know that. That's a design. Play no no. I don't think it's just. I don't i mean there are some times a guy. Once it's broken somebody just posts up and try but everybody is in that cluster. Because it's designed that way. It's you go here. You go here spacing. There's somebody in the front two people on the side there's another guy in the front and the jumper and they're taught to push those guys out of the way so that the jumper can go up and get the football and then what you do was maybe you have three or four one side and you have another guy coming as the late chaser from the backside to get the spiel just in case the ball is back into the field of play. That's kind of what it is my thing. Is everybody hawks me. Like oh my god. Oh god what an amazing throw like. No man they do to elevate over everybody grabbing his arm pulling on his jersey snatching now any still came down with it. He's still coming catches a huge part of it. I i guess. I'm not thinking of that as much as you. I guess hail. Mary is more like that. I'm thinking more of just like any any deep throws yeah. You're talking more of that kind of thing. I guess i misunderstood what you're saying and when you said hell mary i was thinking about as it's something completely different because your timing is convince convinced. Yeah mind made up. I really am optimistic. It's going to be good key. I'm not gate. And i feel the same way you do. I've had amazing. Well let me not say it that way. Well we'll see. "Conversation though isn't just about the men on the field on the diamond on the court here but it also extends to in the office in the c. Suite of these franchises. You know you're set to retire at the end of the season from the golden state warriors. Congratulations but once you do. Correct me if i'm wrong. Number drops back down to zero in terms of opening eighteen presidents. Not to suggest that there are closeted team presidents but do you feel as if there is a clear pipeline so if someone was openly gay and wanted to be an executive for professional sports team that the pipeline will be uninterrupted. And that's the big question. Each of those people's asking themselves right and Just because of the way my story unfolded. I get to talk to a lot of those people who are in a position where they're not comfortable whether or not coming out in their organization is going to impede the opportunities that they have in front of them to in on the management side of sports. You know just as. I would hope that jason's coming out would have spurned. More players being confident taking that step. You know frankly. I'm a little disappointed. It hasn't you know at at at the team president level done that. Certainly i think is changed. Dramatically the last decade In our organizations. And i have a lot of you know really positive stories to tell about executives who have come out in their team organizations But not not at the presidential level and that you know again that that that is. That's a step that. I would love to see someone else. Take but it's it's the one that You know. I'm not sure about like tell one story maybe like that. I was really happy to have done what i did. You know we had. We had the incident in charlotte hadn't been a in nba all star game And at the shortly thereafter the state of north carolina passed this terribly. Discriminatory legislation called hp to north. Carolina's bathroom bill. Says people can only use the bathroom in public and government buildings that matches the sex listed on their birth certificate opponents. Call it discrimination against lgbt people supporters. Say it's about safety. And the league was the first league to be put in position of making a decision about. Should we go for hosting the all star game in charlotte and it was it. Was you know we love our team. In charlotte michael jordan owns the team in charlotte My counterpart fred would feel to rockstar there. But we had to make a decision and we had a board of governors meeting in july in las vegas. And adam silver came over me before and said i'm going to let you have the last word on this and So we kind of go around the room. Everybody says that they're going to say. And adam called me and i could look at the other owners of teams and say look. I want you to have one thing in mind. I'm in contact with people in your organizations many of you who are not yet comfortable to bring their their authentic self to work and they're going to be watching and judging like based on what you decide here how you feel about inclusion how you feel about your lgbtq employees and you know proudly the they did the right thing and we didn't go to charlotte. We did go back to charlotte when the legislation was changed. We've got to do stuff like that. We got we gotta take those opportunities to talk about it and make a statement and and stand up for it. And i think you know for me. That was a blessing to be in a position. Where where i could have some influence there and can i just say how proud i am of rick for doing that. Just because so many of us In the community were not in the room where it happens kind of to to quote hamilton but those people who are in that room where the decisions are made for them to speak up and use their voice and rick did that on behalf of the entire community and It was huge because of nba deciding to change. That ben started the ncaa and was sort of like a chain reaction in the sports world But a lot of that in brick deserves a lot of credit for using his voice in that room. That is the first step towards inclusion listening to the people in the room but the second step. The one that worries me most is happens. What is said. What are the policies put in place when they're when we aren't in the room in other words. Do we feel as if the nfl the nhl major league baseball the nba. Do we feel as if these leagues are prepared to make those type of decisions without having an lgbtq person in the room helping them navigate those waters so this is where allies are huge. This is where the key of the world those king everytime. I try to help y'all to come on here. You go go to pry glitter on one kid jason on so and it's tough because as members of the community. I always think about being because of my experience at harvard. Westlake and other institutions. Like that where you are. Maybe the only or one of a couple minorities in the room in anything in walks of life when especially in corporate america and decisions being made. If if you don't have those allies in the room things could just just go over. I mean you know for simply just shooting commercial in if somebody's not in the room that can identify and that's not right. People just sign off on like. Oh yeah it's the right thing to do. And then he gets out into the open marketplace and they go. Was anybody in the room. The screen at the be able to say. That's not right you know. And that's the same thing what you're talking about there. Is anybody in the room. This able to say well what does mean. Can that person help us advance to where we wanna be as an organization. Can he advance or she does can nate helpless. And that's all that matters. So i love to. I think maybe break you've heard this story before but it it involves my brother. The warriors had a a road game and during the time outs they had the kiss cam going. And at the end of the kiss cam segment. They flashed to the warriors bench and the pa announcer was saying go ahead. Get a little closer. You know you wanna give him a kiss. Crowd starts laughing and then. My brother is sitting there watching this. This is a gay joke at the end of the day. This is a gauge. Oh this is wrong. So the warriors end up winning the game because back then he goes to the to the pa announcer and to the head of in game and says do you realize that that segment what the message is that you're sending their and that you're you're encouraging people to laugh at two men who get to that. This is a joke and this is wrong. Well that pa announcer and that head of in game entertainment for that organization They were very dismissive. And my brother and my brother ended up..

"You kind of push back in once you learn that. Wait a minute man. That's not even what this is. You become smarter more educated and you learn. It's not a you know people say i learned to accept it. It's not an acceptance to me. It's a way people's lives. This is who people are. Oh i accept it well no. It's not an acceptance is a reality in. This is who people are. And that's kind of where i'm at with it. We all knew no have grown up around queer people in our our friends at teachers as key said you know the guy that runs the liquor store on the liquor store in the neighborhood. So why haven't we had more openly. Gay men in the big sports if queer present is everywhere. The big sports in my eyes or considered in deemed as macho is deemed as tuck all of those sorts of things in for so long people will always afraid if they came out in said that they were gay allow would be lost from endorsements to opportunity to even make the team so to speak in. I've known guys in my locker room that i suspected or i've seen certain things but it ain't none of my business only been acapella be who you are In oslo supporting regardless. And as i've always said if you can play that's all i can you play if you play. You can have a whole sheeran section in all pink. If that's what you decide to do. I don't give a damn. Can you help me win in or you a good person and if you can help me win you a good person. I don't care. Because i don't know what. Have these people go home and do any damn way. Yeah i go keyshawn sentiment and And i'm in touch with. I'm sure Maybe a couple of other guys on this call are also in touch with some closeted athletes. But they're they're just afraid of taking that that that final step For whatever reason some of it has to do with family stuff has to do with You know the fear of what the reaction's going to be from the owner to the general manager to the coach to on down the line to your teammates. I was actually a little surprised. That after watching the response that i had and also if you look in major league soccer with robbie rogers he also had success my team going to the play offs If anything it brought our team closer together When you're on a good team and your brother is you know does it makes us announcement you rally around your your brother and you support him and in my first twelve games back in the league we went ten and two In ended up going into the playoffs beating toronto in game seven in toronto in that first round and robbie goes on and wins them less cup with the la galaxy. So i was expecting that there was going to be more and more people Male athletes stepping forward. But once again you know women have been leading the way one of my idols. Growing up. Martina navratilova because she came out and was still winning titles and again we see more and more. Wnba players women's soccer players. I mean suber meghan. Or pino elena da. Da i mean the list goes on and on dino rossi. A women britney griner stepping forward in speaking their truth and still succeeding in their sport. So i hope the guys out there know that if and when they choose to step forward that there is a support waiting to accept them Or to uplift them so they can keep on continue doing. They're doing what they love to do. But you know it's a big question as to why there haven't been more male athletes to step forward. I if i could jump in on that to build on what jason was saying. No i love sports my whole life. That was the currency. My dad and i had a relationship go into games and talking about sports. I always knew i was different. But and i could never see a role model out there who i could relate to who got who come out obviously and had a great experience. That's why me too. I'm a little surprised after jason after robbie like we haven't haven't seen more athletes being prepared to take that. But i go. I'd be curious what keyshawn or or jason think of this. I was on a talk show shortly after i came out in twenty eleven with a former. Nba player. Tom tolbert has a talk. Show san francisco and his his theory. Which which i think. There's some substance to the delicate chemistry. That creates a successful team is just that. It's incredibly fragile. Incredibly delicate and his theory was like more than being afraid of what my might think or or even maybe what the economic impact might be on my career. You know. i don't wanna be a disruptive force in that. I don't wanna bring that attention on me. And into the locker room into the media that that becomes our team story you know. I wanna be a teammate. I wanna. I wanna help us win. And he saw that. And i've always wondered you know i'd be curious from the guys have been there You know how much of a factor that might be an in preventing a male athlete. A prominent meal athlete from coming out. I got to tell you. Rick digests feels like street garbage to me. It really is. When i think about the men who beat women and they find place in locker room when i think the man who commit other crimes and yet they find comforting the locker room. I just find that rationale to be missing. I'm simple. i think it's a big as one of those deals. Rick where kit again. It goes back to ken. You play can you help us win because if you came out in in you were a star player. Not even a star player player. Who can help somebody win that stories a couple of days. Oh he's gay. He came out not an old guy. We knew it all alone blah blah blah blah blah with. It's two days three days in it. Goes away and people play sports but if he was a good football player you wouldn't have any issues at all. Promise you you would have any issues at all. I think it comes down to if you're on a good team where so bad team Like i said before if you're on a good team your teammates will rally around you. Absolutely life out loud is sponsored by better help.

"A lot of americans on this episode. Was the first time you were aware of something other than straight jason. It really hit home for me when my uncle came out and i was around. Fifteen years old Every summer we would spend a month out of every summer with each of our grandparents One pair of being in the bay area and the other one in upstate. New york and my uncle lived in upstate new york and we were there as a family visiting and he had this big conversation but my grandmother my my paternal grandmother passed that my brother we leave the room so we didn't get to hear the whole coming up but we heard sort of aftermath and we heard how other family members Aunts uncles cousins would talk about my uncle behind his back. And at that point fifteen. Sixteen years old i. I knew that i had different feelings. and i didn't quite exactly know what i okay am i gay and if i am. Are they going to talk about me the same way. They're they're talking about my uncle right now uncle mark and i just It scared the hell out of me But i'm so thankful that my uncle mark Did come out because he he made my coming out so much easier because my family was like okay. We've already been down this path. We're not gonna take years to get over this already already. Had the test runs the knuckleheads in the family. Who were were stub and and to those people who are listening out there yes. They're the same people who might you know when you do come out might immediately hit you with rejection. It just might take them some time to you. Know to get to acceptance. Do you think you may have come out earlier. If the conversation about uncle mark would have been more positive yeah would have allowed me to come out and not be so hesitant to come out to certain family members. Yes definitely sooner and thankfully over the years know. We've all had those moments of being family gatherings where those family members have had a chance to apologize to him for that. So mogae this around us fifteen. By the time i'm seventeen eighteen. Eighteen years old graduating from high school. Yes yes keyshawn at harvard wesley. My uncle mark brought his new boyfriend to my high school. Graduation flew out from new york with his new boyfriend. Tony who would go on years later to be his husband so it was really cool to see that even those three years that you know that there was some growth in the in the family rick. Well i've got. I've got a great uncle. Bob story that jason. I both come very close. Knit families but But that wouldn't be the answer to the question you asked in chelsea. I'm really going to tell the story that. I've never told publicly before. So i think i always like since a like a really little kid had very had sexual questions and there was a. We're living in an apartment complex on lake washington. Seattle and my best friend was a kid my age and we jumped into a. It's called a window. Well it has a window into the basement. And there was the laundry down there. And he. And i i would say probably four and a half five year olds maybe were inappropriate touching as my mother would say and my mom walked into the locker room and she immediately had me You know walk over to our apartment where my infant baby sister was and she explained to me very thoughtfully that. That's not what happens that this is what the girl parts look like and this is those are different than boy parts and the boys. Don't touch the boy parts. The boys will eventually be interested in the girl parts. We let are never told that story so right from the beginning it was. That's wrong this is right and that kind of You know obviously set a tone of concern for me about the feelings. I would eventually develop. I did have an uncle bob to my dad's older brother uncle ball was dr in san francisco. The coolest guy ever used to get to go hang out with him. he was always single And always had beautiful homes went on trips. Always would want to grow up to be uncle bob and uncle bob. When i finally had the conversation with my parents at age twenty six my mother looked at me. It's like why would you think we would have a problem. Your you know your uncle. Bob is gay. What are like that would have been. They loved him so much. That would have been such useful information as a team. I would've felt a lot different about my family. Had i known that at the time thing man like so oftentimes. We're so busy being quiet and silent about this conversation that we're not realizing what our silence is actually saying to people and key you and i talk about this a lot because you also have family members Growing up who identified as quick as well. Right yeah definitely. I mean my oldest sister she identified and she went back forward though so but i think it's just one of those things where i was a little bit older at the time that i realized the situation. My niece that i love dearly is also part of the community in. That's girl in you know. She came to meet. I out of everybody and i can see the pain in her face about much like jason was talking about people talking behind the back of family talking behind the back of his uncle. This went on with my niece. The family was always talking behind her back all. I don't know why she bringing a girl over here. Why she bringing girls over all that stuff that goes on in their later on my daughter who happened to pass away. Maya was also In that community. And she felt at times like i wasn't she didn't really get it. She thought i wouldn't be supportive of it. And i tell her at the same time like look my daughter no matter what the situation is if you marry him you marry her or you adopt or you have a child. I'm gonna love you your kids and everybody else as the same because my mind doesn't even go there anymore. I'm not you're not dealing with a fourteen year old kid. That really was scared of gay people. Because that's what. I was told to be scared. I was told that the guy that worked at the liquor store who owned the liquor store was a pedophile because he was gay in so we were told that when you grow up.

"Where the hood at the same set. Now that's not meant to talk bad about him or hip hop only highlight. How elaborate deliberate is at one point. I didn't think i was gay. Because i was good at ball and i had come to believe that the two realities could not coexist in the same body. Had to make a choice so i chose the game. A lot of brothers did a lot of brothers still do what's up people. I'm carl massive. I'm at my house here in west chester pennsylvania. It's want to take a quick moment to say that i'm gay. I mean do this for a while. Now record nassif came out thus becoming the first openly gay active player in nfl history. I cried not so much for me or for him. "The phone. I don't need to sit in person. They're trying to figure out right now. I'm glad you got there. Because i was about to be like a man. He oughta they're like you your reading that from what was said. Yeah i think we started this show talking about george right like the moments matter gave you. Multiple moments was in one thousand nine points over the last three games combined like a promise with field. This is this is too strong performance in the wrong direction. I don't think that there's a comeback from this for him in philly. I just don't especially you committing to joel embiid and rightfully so. The two of them occupy the same square on the floor. It just doesn't work. Yeah who can be more permanent base. That would work with an essentially joel in be point to finger of ben simmons. Yeah after the game. It's hard to get even back in that locker room With people looking at you and they calling we. Can't you know you start to doubt starts to city and strongly when you passing up opportunity to score and you give it to somebody else because for whatever reason and everybody has their own theories as to why. He struggled shooting the ball why he won't. I think it's mentally some people think he's afraid which in the end is the same thing so it's kind of like he doesn't he's skill. That's the bigger issue. he's not. He's not trusting a fundamental skill right now. And that's something they've got to work on with saying you say that but that may not be in just maybe mitt

Steve Kerr: Kevin Durant 'More Gifted' Than Michael Jordan

"Steve. Kerr says kevin durant is more getty. Take it away. Then michael jordan so kerr coaster for three seasons as we know golden state warriors the nba finals all three years. That katie played for them. They won two titles. He was the finals. Mvp in both championships and had amazing performances. Now they could've probably pulled off a three peat if if it wasn't for durant's that that obviously achilles pop it on him against the raptors final season. Now steve kerr also play. Played with michael jordan won two titles with mj with the bulls so his perspective on this obviously is something that is interesting because he played with jordan but coach durant and listen to what he said nbc bay area about kevin durant and his comparison to jordan is the most talented basketball player on earth If not of all time. Honestly he's just so gifted played with michael jordan. And and and i know i think he's more gifted i really do. I mean it saying something but kevin is a different entirely different breed. I mean six eleven With guard skills unlimited three point range passing blocking at the rim. It's just stunning and watching him. This year was really really ratifying to see

"Story will bring back in. Involves these relationships in the nfl between coaching quarterback that we've talked about several times when you have that you know you got something special when the coach and the quarterback are on the same page when they kind of have that unity. You saw what. What tom brady. And bruce arians able to do right away You obviously see what you have in kansas. City greg's andy. Reid patrick mahomes these. These duos are very important. We thought maybe. Sean mcvay jared goff where we're going to be that power couple. They did get to a super bowl but then things broke up pretty quickly there. And sean mcvay is this guy that clearly is the excitable one out of the two right is that goes without saying so mcveigh. Listen to how he talks about how he feels about now having matthew stafford at his as his quarterback and he did this during a press conference to promote the super bowl in. La in the rams head coach. Let's just say gushed very heavy. Thank you seem like you're in a better mood aussies. You're damn right. I am so this guy He's a special guy. One of the best ways that i can describe him when you hear people that have been around him. There's a there's a known confidence where it when he walks into a room noah's field presence but he's got a great humility about himself at. Everybody loves being around him and he's one of those guys that is it true igniter makes everybody around him better. I feel like i can come up better. Coaching a few months that we've been able to spend together and we're looking forward to get things together. Sounds pretty excited about this new relationship. "Lloyd pierce a former hawks coach also member of the social justice coalition You know we we we. We get this all the time when it comes to whether it's sports talk radio whether it's just sports media and that is when we discuss these things it's how does that what does have to do with sports. What does it have to be part of sports. So if i asked you why is this. Why is remembering george floyd. Why is discussing the racial issues in this country equality and all those things. Why is this a sports story in your mind. Well it's it's about opportunity And it's about representation In the in the basket while. We're which i'm familiar and mostly you guys are is over. Seventy almost eighty percent of the players are african american. And you know. I think every player every sports every professional athlete will tell you you know if given the wind given the opportunity. It's an opportunity to change life to change the course of their family from a financial perspective. But really just fulfilling their their hopes and dreams This black man was killed and since he has been killed at the hands of law enforcement been two hundred and twenty five other people that have been killed in the past year. Why Would Jaguars Sign Tim Tebow?

"We are back final hour. It's been a fun show. We appreciate you being here. A lot of conversation with my Mike smith earlier. We also talked to dennis dodd. Another conversation predictably has been tim. Tebow we've given you a lot of reaction on that in the mike cannon bom from espn former gm jets dolphins. He's been here a couple of times. He had this to say earlier today. On keyshawn jay will and zubin about understanding the signing. I don't like it. I just don't see the upside in this move. He's thirty four years old. He would be a backup. I just don't know of thirty four year old players that can come in and be back place special teams and you're taking away a roster spot from hopefully a young developmental player that could grow with a young nucleus obviously led by trevor lawrence. And to me this is probably through the lens of urban. Meyer saying a decade. And a half ago tim tiba was the most competitive guy i've ever been around and he can help set the culture. If i was in that building what i would be pushing back saying coach. That may be true but in the nfl as you well know. Players needs to be led by players. They believed can take them to where they wanna go and as a backup tight end. I just don't think tim tebow would have that same credibility as he wants dave when he was the starting quarterback in florida. He also questioned whether tibo could even makes a team. I just don't see how he makes the team or urban and he's a really good coach he he's been historically great college but i just don't know he has to earn a spot and he's given a spot. That's gonna cause a big problem because players weren't have a chance to win and again to me just putting on my lens of a general manager and roster construction if you're not a starter in the nfl with only forty six players dressing you have to play special teams so my question. is tim. tibor thirty four years old going to cover cover kicks that remains to be seen. Now if he doesn't earn it does a totally different discussion. But i don't think you could sign him and say hey. He definitely has a spot on this team.
