"OK, speaking about the bands out there, that's an acronym, we're going to have soft bands. Soft bands. Sorry for the curse, guys, but you know. So Rockets, Kevin Porter Jr. Former, soon to be former Rockets. Yeah, yeah, they're trying to trade him right now. So who? Mr. Rockets. Who's going to take him? Dude, you better find some, some real estate in Shanghai or Guangjing. Because I'm sorry, you out of here. There'll be an NBA team that'll make off for him because, you know, they'll help him win. Yeah, blow up all the crap out of him. Unless, unless about to be breaking news, and I don't know if you got a team. It ain't happening, bro. Yeah, exactly. It ain't happening, bro. Exactly. They're going to have, if a team trades them, they're going to be like, we'll give you a second round pick and some crap. You see, you see four brothers? I've seen it. You saw, you saw, you saw what they put to do? You, you're like, that's where his career is. He's going to be an MBT-L if he's lucky. That's where his career is, bro. OK. He's going to be in Shanghai soon. Watch. Yeah. Get your passport ready, bud. So apparently he was arrested recently. And I'm going to break the details down. So Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr., alleged attack on his girlfriend in a New York City hotel room, left the woman with fractures, fracture in her neck vertebrae, a deep cut above her right eye, and also marks on her body and issues with her back. Porter Jr. is 23 years old, is charged with felony assault and strangulation with the connection of the incident early Monday at the Millennium Hotel, Millennium Hilton Hotel, near the United Nations in Manhattan. Prosecutors say he didn't stop until his former, his girlfriend, a former WNBA player, Chrissy Garzik, ran out the hallway covered in blood. The NBA star was in police custody on Monday around 6.45 a.m. and was either ordered to post $75,000 in cash or obtain a $100,000 bond release to get away and was ordered to stay away from his girlfriend. Porter is due back in court October 16th. The Rockets are scheduled to play a preseason game that day in San Antonio with their season tipping off in about two weeks later. The Rockets say that we are gathering the information that are surrounding the matter involving Kevin Porter Jr. Have no comment at this time. According to their criminal complaint, Garzik told police that Porter punched her repeatedly in the face with a closed fist, causing an inch-slash gash above her right eye, bruising and substantial pain to her face. Gordon is 26, so Porter also wrapped his hands around her neck and strangled her, causing her to have difficulty to breathe, redness and bruising on her neck and loss of motion in her right arm. Hospital's tests show that Garzik sustained fractures to one of her vertebraes in her neck. Porter and Guzrick started dating in February 2022. And Guzrick is the fourth pick of the 2021 WNBA Jeff and played one season for the Indiana Fever, is currently a free agent. She's also the actress of the motto. Porter, however, has played four seasons in the NBA and had incidents on and off the court. Last year, Porter Jr. averaged 19.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game, earning a lucrative four-year extension with the Houston Rockets, where he landed after wearing out his welcome in Cleveland. Here's the litany of things that's going on with him. In November 2020, while playing for the Cavs, Porter was arrested after they found a loaded gun and marijuana in his car after a single vehicle crash. Also, Porter, who was drafted in 2019, was drafted to Cleveland, was traded to Houston, had an issue with the Cavaliers general manager and one of the coaches and the staff, where they actually had a whole incident on the sidelines, the women's coaches. In April 2021, the NBA fined Porter $50,000 for violating the league's safety and health COVID-19 policies when he visited Miami Strip Club. In January 2022, the Rockets suspended- They're in a bubble, right? They're in a bubble situation. They're in a bubble situation. The Rockets suspended Porter Jr. for a game after then-coach Stephen Stylus said the player had sprinted a debate and lost his temper at halftime. That temper was, he was arguing with one of the coaches on the sidelines. Now- Oh, he's an F-boy, then. You had a perp walk. When was the last time any of you two have seen an athlete arrested and doing on a perp walk? Almost, almost never. Any sport. I don't think I've ever, I don't think I've ever seen it. L-T-ner got a perp walk. But- No, I don't think I've ever seen it. You mentioned- You mentioned the whole Ray Rice thing. The only difference is, the disturbing part of it is what we saw on camera and stuff like that. But his situation was happening in real time and stuff like that. So I've never seen it, but what you've just illustrated is a profile of a ticking time bomb. Oh, yes. It's about a time where he kills somebody. He will kill somebody. He has psychotic issues. He needs therapy. I'm supposed to be able to get him there because 19 points in today's NBA, and those numbers right there. That's amazing. That's pretty damn good. It is. For a player that was drafted pretty high and mentally wasn't there, and clearly see that mentally, you're not here. You beat your girlfriend's senses, my boy, in Manhattan in a hotel room. Honestly, honestly, when I look at the complexion of this and how bad it is for him, how psychologically and physically damaging it is for her, how it affects both respective leagues, the NBA, the WNBA, and stuff like that, I cannot see Adam Silver giving him the kind of grace he'd give in the NFL. Adam Silver has suspended this guy for at least two years, maybe longer than that. It all depends on what's in the CBA laws and CBA agreements. Bro, if he's able to get suspended for a significant amount of time and then able to come back in the NBA and stuff like that, hopefully he can come back rehabilitated and reformed. For the better? For the better, yes. If they are into that aspect of it. Because the NBA is not allowing things that reminds them of the 80s, 90s, and stuff like that as far as physicality, let alone off the court. Are you serious? Nah, bro. Bro, this looks all the way bad, and I don't believe. And honestly, I could see himself out of the NBA completely for those past discussions. That, to me, might have been the peak of it. I believe he's going to get hit with a year-long suspension. He's going to get hit how that Charlotte Hornets player got hit, Miles Bridges. Remember his allegation he got hit with in the league spending for a year last year? The same thing with this guy.

"I'm just saying. But that's me. You got to stay ready, bro. I'm sorry, yo, to my white audience. I'm sorry, yo. You got to stay ready out here, you know? I'm sorry, yo. I'm just saying. That's that white people. I'm just saying. Is it, though? Because we all have hand sanitizer, right? Don't we? Probably did it for white girls at school, baby. I'm just saying. This is you, Walter, you know, back there. I would do it. I would do it. Exactly. I would do it with women of age and stuff like that. That would be the old head pulling up to the high school for what? I find in comic books, she did it in a packed theater. Again, and consider it. She should have just went to the movie theater and do that. But she wasn't thinking like I was, so that's the problem. Well, maybe she needs a voice. I don't know. She could be. I posted a thing on my timeline. The people were laughing their ass off. They told it in high definition, 4K, black and white. The dude was like, yang, yang, yang, yang, yang. You can see the video video, the video feed. Now, if you really want to make it hot, you could have been like, man, this movie's great. I'm looking up right now. I'm looking up right now. Hold up, guys. Oh, man. I'm looking up right now. Probably on Twitter. I'm looking up on, what are we calling it? I'm looking up on freaky.iG right now. Oh, my god. And we got to see this. It's an old girl that was getting her romp on, huh? Here we go. I'll be right here. So pretty much, her hand's in the man's pocket. He's grabbing her. See this? Let me see. Right here, right here. Oh, snap. Oh. He was going in. He was going in. Listen, man. Give me some of that. Listen, man. Sweet, yeah. Oh, man. Show me the way. Oh, man. Because I got this to pay. Give me some of that, yeah. I told you, man. Listen, man. Listen, man. She's an all-star field day performer. You see that chug of war, bro? You see that? Who's going to win? Who's going to finish first? She tug boating, bro. I told you she was playing pocket pool, man. Listen, not for nothing. Her sock went up. We said, where it would be. Bup, bup, bup, bup, bup. From a tactical standpoint, we got to polish her up. Yeah, she got them cucumber strokes. I'm telling you right now, man. Man. She's got an intimate right here. She's a bonafide pro. I like that right there, boy. She's a bonafide pro, man. Man, oh, man. She's your representative of Colorado. Listen, man. She hands on. She's a good representative. She's a good representative right here. Go for the gusto. Oh, my gosh. Go for the gusto. You see that? You see that? Very classy. You see that? You know? So classy. You could always trust her. You could always trust her because she'll always be privy to private information. Oh, man. All right, all right. It will be brief. Man, no, it won't, man. All right, all right, all right, all right, all right. Listen, man. We had long conversations. You know, listen, man. Long, long conversations. OK, so a little jokey joke, a little tug of war, a little teasing, you know? A little special to go. What I'm saying, tune into Tokyo, right? Is that right? There you go. You know, sometimes, you know, sometimes we want to F, and then other times we want to E. You're right, right. You know, man, as a senior citizen in the shaggy city, you'll get my heart attack. Like, yo. Come on, baby. Come on. Geez. He's like, god damn, fire ain't working. Man. Wake up, stupid. Wake up. Man, in fact, man. Shit is so hard. No, no, could you imagine being an old man and be like, man. Damn it. I miss my country buffet meal, but I get to see this. I'm right next to this. Wake up. No, no, no, no, no, but real talk, real talk, if I was the old man, I'd be like, yo, I'm not going to, I'm not going to blow your spot, but, you know, I'm just saying the sun hasn't rose in days now, you know? Could you, you know? I mean, I mean, you know, you seem, you seem like you know what you're, what you're into. Nigga, this is Judge Judy. Wake up. Wake up. Oh, man. Drop the, drop the problem again. All right, you know. I ain't cursing. Nigga, this is Judge Judy. OK, OK, who? All right. I say Judge Judy. All right. Yeah, we good, we good. Not for nothing. She should, she should get, like, a pass on this, bro. Like, I feel like that's all, bro. I said it off camera. She can get it to me. Like, if you see her first glance and her old self, wait, she's 36, right? She's the grandma of 36, homie. Bro. Hey, man, hey, man. She's kind of old. I thought she was older than that. She's the youngest gilf in the US history, probably. I doubt it. She's a grandchild? I doubt it. Yeah, she has grandchildren. Who's inside a Porsche, and her kid has a child. She has a grandson already? At 36? Yes. That means she was at a kid when she was, like, 18, 19 years old. She's been moving wild for me. I told you she was on the top of time, bro. She had demon time, homie. Listen, listen. OK, I got a better question for you guys and stuff like that. Between, between her, Sarah Palin, and Monica Lewinsky, who y'all got? We'll say that for the wise guy. Say that for the wise guy. We're going to say that for the wise guy. I mean, she did have a black dude before. We're going to say that for the wise guy. OK, so during the break, we were discussing about, you know, things going on out there in the world. And I and Walt and myself wanted to bring up the Rockets, Kevin Porter Jr. situation. So this is an audible I'm throwing out there. Terrible. He's associated with freaking E-mail. Ah. Yo. So before you start, I'm going to say this. As and words are at an all-time high. No, I'm going to say the whole thing is at an all-time high, man. Is that an all-time high? For real. Ban. There you go. Acronym, ban. Yeah, the effery of bands are at an all-time high. You're making us look bad, for real. Y'all need to cut with the malarkey. Yeah. I get cursed with the malarkey. Oh, I got it perfect. These soft bands out here is wildin'. OK. Like, y'all better listen to Kevin Samuel. Let's stop listening to, like, Fresh and Fit. No? OK, so if you guys have been under rock. If you listen to Kevin Samuel, that's Fresh and Fit. It's never too soon. They haven't too soon. Them dudes feel their fate. And I've been preaching to tell you all about it. Oh, I'm on it. This is Claudia. You're a Claudia. You're a Claudia. Shout out to I've Been Preached. No. Shout out to I've Been Preached. You know what it's like when Kaba had the blue eyes? Yeah. And then Yugi said, Zodia! That's it. That's it. That's it. Dude, they're doing a victory lap. They're dying. They're dead. They're dead. No, you didn't warn them. You're dead. You didn't warn them. I pulled up T.A.R. and I left with everything, OK? Yep. I took your ego and put it in my pocket, bro. Give me the carpet too while you're there.

"kevin porter jr" Discussed on The Crossover NBA Show with Chris Mannix

"The other topic that Adam Silver briefly discussed was the issues with Kevin Porter Jr. He was arrested in New York this week for domestic violence. He allegedly assaulted a girlfriend or an ex-girlfriend of his, caused a broken vertebrae, which, you know, is awful. Some of these allegations, they're bad. Even Adam Silver, he said, he described them as horrific, as I'm reading, the accusations, fractured neck vertebrae and a cut above her right eye. That's according to the prosecutors in that case. Adam Silver said the NBA was going to follow the collectively bargained domestic violence protocols. He did say that, you know, the NBA will take the next couple of weeks to look into this and decide whether Kevin Porter Jr. can go to training camp with the Rockets. Herring, I would be shocked, shocked beyond words, if Kevin Porter Jr. is at training camp with Houston. I think the least the NBA is going to do is tell him to stay home. He'll continue to get paid. But these allegations are gross. These allegations are awful. And unless there is some new evidence that comes forward that changes what this looks like, I don't believe Kevin Porter Jr. will be at Rockets training camp. What are your thoughts on all this? I mean, can I be real for a minute? And again, maybe this is me and maybe I'm doing too much of this. Maybe we need the NBA back so that I can start thinking more like a commissioner or someone that has, you know, someone that's a decision maker here. I don't want to see the guy back in the league if this stuff was true. And obviously it either is or it's not. I know there are allegations. I know that there's a process that has to play out. This, the details of this, and I don't want to think that this is why I feel more strongly about it, but maybe it plays a part in it. You didn't mention it. This was a top five WNBA pick, too. So this is, you know, it's not that you're looking at situations and you're saying, well, men are stronger than women or anything like that, although I think a lot of people would agree with that and it is particularly dangerous. This is a professional athlete that he did this to. This is someone that on some level you're looking at the circumstances and the allegations. There were other things that prosecutors brought up about maybe him having rammed his car into hers at one point. This is just particularly gross stuff, really abusive sounding stuff, for someone that already kind of had a checkered off-court history anyway. So from where I sit, if any of this stuff is true, and again, there's a whole lot of hospital notes and stuff like that that suggests that something really heinous happened here that went beyond just, oh, he hit her once, which would be bad enough on its own. I'm not particularly interested in having people like this in the league, period, and it makes me wonder, in light of the Miles Bridges stuff, and yes, he was out for a season essentially, he's gonna get 10 more games this season. There were a lot of people that felt like, in light of that, that maybe it should have been stronger than that. I know that there aren't leagues that have zero tolerance policies for stuff, but hearing the details of this case made me wonder what would it take for us to get there at some point for a league that, I think the NBA has a lot of things that they can look at and say that they have championed women more than other sports leagues have. They had a huge role in the founding of the WNBA. The last thing Adam Silver said at the end of his press conference today was to go watch the WNBA playoffs, which start tonight. So I think that you've seen a lot of people step up to try to champion that league more. It just is a horrible look, and I understand that it's not necessarily the NBA's responsibility, but they can react to this a certain way. And to me, it's not a question of should he miss this season, should he miss training camp, it's should someone like this that already had an off-court history that was less than stellar be back in the league. He's talented enough to be in this league, obviously, a guy that can average 20 points, five rebounds, five assists, but this was really disgusting and it makes you hope that they weren't true, the allegations, but I'm not really betting heavily on that side of the argument here. No, and he had a lot of mature, let me, I'll throw it to you in a second, Romy, he had a lot of maturity issues coming into this, as you said, Chris, which is part of the reason this contract is so uniquely structured. I mean, he has signed a four-year, $72 million contract last year, and it's basically been a series of one-year contracts where if he shows that he has a model behavior and he plays for the team enough games, then the next year becomes guaranteed. I believe that Houston will waive him before the start of the season, and I say that because in his contract, his guarantees increase for next season, this season he's guaranteed almost $16 million, that's done, he has a $1 million guarantee for the 2014-15 season, and that increased to $3 million if he's not waived by the Rockets by the first game of this season. So, you know, there's two months to go, whatever it is, month and a half to go before the first regular season game. I believe that the Rockets will decide to waive him, eat the salary for this season just to get off of that contract for next season. He was already on thin ice, Rowan, as it stands. The Rockets have been trying to revamp their roster, revamp their image, revamp everything about that organization. I don't believe Kevin Porter Jr. will be on that roster on opening night. For sure. Let me just say, first of all, obviously I'm not a domestic violence expert, and I want to be careful in what I say because I'm literally, I'm trying to, we obviously all feel very strongly about this. At the same time, we're trying to educate ourselves about how are leagues supposed to handle this, how is society supposed to handle this, et cetera. I think the league did just a terrible job with the Miles Bridges situation by basically knocking games off his suspension by counting the year he didn't play and didn't get a contract as a suspension. And beyond that, I also think it's time that the NBA, like Chris mentioned, Erin mentioned, does a lot for women and has tried to champion women and has tried to be more inclusive women than maybe some other sports leagues. But it's also frustrating me every time something like this happens. I remember there was a game last year where Miles Bridges went to a Lakers game and everyone was just high-fiving him on the court after. And I get it, these guys have relationships and aren't asking people to end their friendships, but where are also the players kind of speaking out against Kevin Porter, Jr.? Where are the people in the league beyond just the commissioner getting up there in a press conference to ask about it, calling these allegations horrific? We see players, we're not gonna get into it, but when you see players defending Jonah Hill on Instagram this summer, for example, they're aware of these things that are going on, and I just don't like when it feels like everyone turns a blind eye to this, everyone just turns the page. In some ways, that goes on to protect people like Kevin Porter, Jr., almost, and that's just one very frustrating aspect of this. Obviously, we're calling these all allegations for a variety of reasons, but if anyone reads the police report or the injuries that this woman sustained, it horrific's the word for it. It's terrible, and at some point, it's not just punishments. There needs to be kind of a culture shift in how this is talked about, how this is discussed amongst everyone in the league on all levels. Yeah, I agree, I agree, and all we can do is, I guess, wait to see how it plays out in NBA circles. Can I mention one more thing about this, too, that, like, and I wrote a column about it. I can admit, like, I think the headline maybe could be a little different for it, but the headline on it is the NBA needs to do better. I don't think the NBA's really had a chance to even legislate this yet, and as Adam Silver was saying in his press conference today, they generally wait for the legal process of it to play out, so I understand that part. I think what scares me a little bit, and I can admit to not having fleshed it out fully of the woman who was the victim, the alleged victim here, if she gave comments to an outlet, essentially saying that she hasn't spoken on this yet, and so all the things that are being attributed to her through prosecutors, that she hasn't said those things to an outlet yet, so basically, like, she hasn't spoken her piece on that, and if those are comments she actually made, saying that, kind of saying that she hasn't spoken her piece about it yet, I really hope that it's not necessarily the first step in kind of trying to make sure that charges aren't pressed here, because it shouldn't, but I think it kind of defangs the league from the standpoint of what they can actually do, and I think that's what happens a lot of times. That's what was rumored to have happened in the Miles Bridges case, where people that were friends of his or acquaintances of his were essentially saying, you do realize how much money he stands to lose, right, if you press charges against him here, and it becomes kind of a form of witness tampering or kind of victim tampering in a lot of cases where there's just so much money on the line for these players, so I really hope that, particularly if this happened, and it very much seemed like it did, that the league finds ways, and that they find ways to strengthen their policies regarding this stuff, so that people aren't just kind of lit off the hook when they do this, and people essentially step out of the way or don't, you know, say that they won't testify, so that people can't be held accountable for what it seems like are clear actions here. This is really scary stuff, it's really dangerous stuff, and these guys are not gods, they're basketball players, they're extremely talented, they're extremely skilled, but they also have a privilege to play in this league because of those talents and skills, other people can do this, they just happen to be the 400, 500 most talented, it doesn't need to be them, certainly not if this is the stuff that's happening off the court with people that are an important part of our society, so I really hope that, you know, not to get in anybody's life, but I really hope that even if claims are taken back or what have you, that if he did this, that he's not lit off the hook for it. Yeah, I don't think he will be, because if I, and part of this goes to his own history and the perception of Kevin Porter Jr. around the league, if and when Houston waves him, I do not see any team picking him up, ever, ever. I mean, Houston was that one team last year that really didn't care, like they were just trying to assemble as much talent as humanly possible and see what happened. Look across the league, who would pick this guy up, who would sign him, even a year from now, two years from now, I just don't see it. His career might continue elsewhere, but I think as far as the NBA goes, he's probably done. All right, so let's get into some NBA stuff going into next season, as we start to look ahead at just how good the league's gonna be, how competitive the league's gonna be. I mentioned how tough I think the Western Conference next year is gonna be. Let's look at teams that we are bullish and teams that we are bearish on. And Rohan, we'll start with you on the bullish topic. Give me a team that you're high on and tell me why. This, some would say maybe this is an obvious pick. I do think that it's an inspired one, personally. And I'm gonna take it to a level that proves just how bullish I am. Because right now, we're recording this September 13th, I'm picking the Golden State Warriors as my NBA champion for the upcoming season. Nine months from now, whatever it is, we're gonna be talking about the Golden State Warriors with Chris Paul winning a ring. I'm loving everything I'm hearing coming out of Golden State this year. Klay Thompson been active in the group chats. I love that Mike Dunleavy took over for Bob Myers and said, you know what, enough of this two-timeline crap. We're going all in. I love what they've done, not only bringing in Chris Paul, I think Dario Sarich is gonna be a good piece for them off the bench. They're gonna have a full season of Gary Payton II this time. This is the veteran-laden team they've needed. And I think there's a renewed focus there after what happened last season against Lakers. That's the first time Klay, Steph, and Dre have lost a playoff series together in a very long time when all three were healthy. I think they're gonna be highly motivated. I think they have a lot to prove. Let me ask you, let me ask you this. Let me follow up and just give you a counterplay here. Not to dismiss the Warriors, they're a very good team. But what has Mike Dunleavy done to shake up the two-timeline there? Has he traded Moses Moody yet? Has he traded any? I mean, trading Jordan Poole for Chris Paul is not breaking up the two-timeline thing. If anything, on a talent level, you might argue that's a step back. Because Jordan Poole made sense as a sixth man. If our friend Mark Spears over at landscape is right, and Chris Paul's the starter, ah, that makes any sense either. Chris Paul might start the first couple weeks of the season. He's gonna be playing off the bench when it matters. I'm pretty confident. And I do think trading Jordan Poole is significant. How does Chris Paul take that? Because you're just gonna give him nominal starting minutes and say, here, you're still the starter, but we're gonna take you about three minutes into the game and go with the lineup that we like. No, I think they'll give him a legitimate chance as a starter the first couple weeks of the season. I think everyone involved in the situation will realize pretty soon. You're going to break up arguably the best starting lineup in recent NBA history. Let's say that. I know I'm hedging my bet there a little bit, but you're gonna break up one of the best starting lineups in NBA history to assuage Chris Paul? Okay, okay, fine, then don't. Then him and Steve Kerr are both adults. They're both vets. They'll work it out in training camp, and Chris Paul will come off the bench. I'm saying is eventually when it matters, Chris Paul will come off the bench. I don't think it's gonna matter what happens the first couple weeks of the season. I'm bullish on the Warriors. Frankly, knowing your pick, the fact that you're trying to give me counterpoints right now is so absurd. I'm not gonna spoil it. All I'm gonna say is I'm very confident in my bullish pick on the Warriors, and I'll have you know that I told Sports Illustrated this exactly the year before the Warriors won the championship. I said they're gonna be great this year. Let's get them on the cover, et cetera, et cetera. I called my shot, and I'm calling it again. They're gonna win the title this year. That's a sizzling hot take to take a team that was like the team of the back half of the 2010s to win the championship in 22. Boy, I want you filling out my lottery tickets. My problem with the Warriors, Rohan, is that I think they're too small. I still think they're too small. Dario Sarg is the biggest guy on that roster. Kevin Looney, tremendous rebounder, but if he gets into any kind of foul trouble, Draymond doesn't work as a five anymore. Like, he just doesn't. Listen, I don't fully agree with that. I still think Draymond's effective at the five. I think Looney was- Against really small. But who's small? Who's small in that conference? Look at the top of the conference. Is Denver small? Hell no. Is Memphis small? Hell no. You're gonna have to get through some big teams if you're gonna succeed in the Western Conference.

Most critics of the bill don't take issue with changes to protect the governor and her family but instead recent additions to the Senate bill. This bill goes far beyond personal safety the additional modifications to FOIA have nothing to do with protecting human lives and everything do to with protecting state government from public scrutiny. Eliza Gaines is the president of the Arkansas Press Association and has testified during a hearing on the bill this week. It includes provisions that would take away Arkansans rights to details about how their state government functions and spends taxpayer dollars. The bill as presented would stop the public from having access to records on communication between the governor or their staff and the secretary of a cabinet -level department. Senator Brian King spoke adamantly against expanding FOIA changes beyond governor security. Especially with our past history that we've had. I don't know why this is like a tragedy why we're doing it. mean I the $60 ,000 taxpayer money that was spent to keep the feds from getting the records of corrupt legislators probs. conducting The bill was expected to be taken up in committee yesterday but it wasn't. North Korean leader Kim Jong -un has arrived in eastern Russia for a face -to -face meeting with Vladimir Putin. Correspondent Mimi Montgomery reports the meeting comes as Japan says the Hermit Kingdom launched two short -range ballistic missiles into the sea of Japan. After decades of hot and cold relations Russia and North Korea are getting closer since the Ukraine invasion and Kim Jong -un is now in Russia expected to ask for financial aid and military technology in exchange for munitions such as artillery shells and rockets. Political science professor James DJ Brown says there's likely to be a deal between the two countries. I would expect that there would be some agreement for North Korea to provide artillery shells but from the Russian side I think that it would be more likely that food energy will be provided. I think they'll hold back on providing high tech military technology at least publicly. I'm Mimi Montgomery. "No, because I had Walker down. So Toppen or Isaiah Jackson, pick one that they would protect between those two. Probably Toppen, right? Because they traded for him. Yeah. So then give me Isaiah Jackson. Yep. You got it. That's a good pick. I just didn't think, because one time when I went through it, I was like, how did I leave Nembhard unprotected? Because then I thought, well, would it be a McConnell thing? Look, I might've taken McConnell second overall, but I think he's protected. Jaylen Smith. If Charlotte has LaMelo and Mark Williams and Rozier and Cody Martin as four, and then I assume they'll protect Miles Bridges and Hayward. That's six. Nick Richards is seven. So then it's either Booknight or Kai Jones. They protect Kai Jones over Booknight. So Booknight's available. I'm not excited about that. That's probably going to be the last team. I am going to take one of the Clippers. I'm going to take Bones Island. No kidding. I want a documentary about your team on the road. So who did you leave? Because it's PG, Kawhi, Powell, Zubach. It's like Kim or Batum or Marcus Morris or whoever. Did you leave Westbrook unprotected? I had him protected. I think he protected him. Yeah, I protected him too. I don't think there's any debate there. KJ Martin, I had them protected. And then it's between Morris, Batum, Plumlee, Bones, Boston and Covington for the last spot. I assume they would protect Plumlee because they need him. Yeah. I came down to Bones and Plumlee for me as well. So I'll let you go ahead and take Bones. Great. Who do you got? The Pickens are getting slim. They are. We each have nine players. No Laker, no Utah jazz person has been taken yet. Yeah. You know what? Give me Shimonich from Utah. Yep. What'd your scouts like about him? His diet. Dedicated at an early age. And he picked up garbage once at a practice after, and he played in the game. And then they got done and he walked around and picked up a bunch of garbage. And they're like, this guy is the making of the franchise kind of guy. It's interesting. They're probably rooting for somebody to take Horton Tucker in this would be my guess. They maybe even could have floated, probably gotten protected first in 2038 to take Horton Tucker from them. Man, really slim Pickens now. This is going to get really hard here at the end, because if we're only going like every team has to lose somebody. I need some size and a clubhouse guy after my last two picks or two of my last three picks. I'm going to take Robin Lopez. Cheap backup, big guy. He's been in some big games. Yeah, but I don't know. I feel like I can throw him out there. Milwaukee's was easy. Milwaukee's was super easy. Unprotected Crowder, Robin Lopez, Beasley, Thanasis, AJ Green. Yeah, I'm not taking any. I think they protect Beauchamp. Oh, I forgot I could have taken Thanasis. You could have. We'll allow it for the sake of content. Oh, I'd change my pick. I didn't have him written down. I'm taking Thanasis. And then I get to be in every, who knows, Giannis. I get to be in all those stories. Thanks for the assist. Okay, J Scrub not available after the Houser pick. That was a lot later than I thought it would be. Now we should be just looking at the teams that we haven't picked from yet. And it gets a little tough here. Do I do it? He's kind of expensive. You got to spend some money. Give me Jacques Landel. I like it. I love that guy. I was going to take him and I thought we already had taken a Houston guy. Did we? This mistake is definitely coming. No, I don't think we ended up taking one. That's a good pick. I like that one. No, we mentioned it because you were like, are you going to take Jeff Green? And I held off. I know that sucks. It sucks to do that to Jeff Green, but although Landel's contract, four years, 32 million through 28 to 31. Can I ask you a Phoenix question? So if it's KD, Booker, Aiten, Beale, and Gordon as the top five protected, and then the next three come from Okojie, Metu, Watanabe, Bates, Diop, Bol Bol, and Goodwin. They're probably protecting Bol Bol, right? I don't have them protected. I have Damian Lee and Metu protected after the first six. I want Watanabe. Can I have them? Yeah, yeah. I had them protected. All right. I like Watanabe. Another shooter for me. You do the shoot it. Ben Simmons, so many shooters around him for him to find. Wait, where are your shooters again? I have Tillman. I have Hauser. I have Watanabe. I like it. Got some good chemistry with Thanasis. Jose Alvarado. What do you think Washington would do? They can't trade for pool and leave them unprotected, right? No, no. The question for me is would they leave Johnny Davis unprotected? Because I have them with Poole, Kuzma, Tyus Jones, Avdija, and Kispert. So that's five. I had Anthony Gill protected. And then they have Davis, Wright, Gafford, Patrick Baldwin, and Shamit. Shamit wants to be in your team. You got money to spend? Yeah. The Johnny Davis, if they wanted to protect Johnny, it might come down to a Patrick Baldwin Jr. Johnny Davis decision. That could be the eighth protected. I actually think it's the same thing as we talked about before. They would have to protect Johnny Davis because... Different for an office though. Not like Winger took them. It's too embarrassing. Well, there's a certain level of factoring that in, but not when you didn't take the guy. But the Vegas regrets have to take him, I think, if he's available. He was like this ninth pick in the draft. Speaking of regrets, right? Yeah. Give me Koloko. Are we cool with that? Yeah. Because wait, we didn't take anyone from Toronto yet, correct? No. We made him available and that's a good pick. We just went through it. Okay. I got the Arizona teammates here. Obviously, I love that team. I just didn't end up with Mathern. Right now I'm on the phone with Dallas trying to see if they'll give me a future first for Rashawn Holmes for me to take him. But I took Powell already. Good point. Did we say Nurkic is unprotected? He's definitely unprotected. We can go through it if you want. I don't think there's any possible way. I'm going to take him. I think I have some money to spend. So, if I have Simmons at 30... Where do I have Simmons at? 40, 38. Maybe I don't have money for... I don't know. He's at 37 this year and Nurkic is at 18. Yeah. I don't have the money for him. Sorry, Nurkic. The Nurkic deal is just... It's painful. It wasn't even a question of him being protected or not. For Portland, I had Lillard Grant, Simon Sharp, Nas Little, Bible. I ran out of guys to pick. Then they've got three rookies on it. Keyon Johnson, Jabari, I protected those guys. Then I left Nurkic unprotected because it's 17, 18, and 19. I'm going to take Kevin Love from Miami. We almost have to go back now and figure out which teams still haven't had somebody taken from him. Maybe we just take... Should we just take 12 and call it a day? 12 each? I love that idea. Just call it quits. No Lakers got taken. We'll take two more. You want to take a Laker? Jackson Hayes? Nobody took Jackson Hayes. We should probably grab... Somebody should take Jackson Hayes. Do you know I was in Watts this weekend for a celebrity basketball game and Dwight Howard was there and played in it? What? Yeah. Jackson Hayes was there too. So you don't want Jackson Hayes? Verban Day. No, he looked skinny to me. I'm not taking Reddish. I'm not taking Jackson. I'm not taking a Laker. Fuck you, man. Okay. You want Korkmaz? Finish it off? We didn't take a sixer either. The Philly deal is... I don't want any of them unprotected. I mean, maybe I guess I could take... Could I take Daniel House Jr.? Take them. All right. Let's do it. 13. Then did we say Johnny Davis is unprotected or not? I don't know that we landed on an answer for it. I'm going to take them. All right. Yeah. We'll say they protected Paul Woods. Just for the content. All right. So final teams. The Vegas Regrets, Quinton Grimes, Jalen Johnson, Gary Payton, Ricky Rubio, Chris Duarte, Dwight Powell, Minnesota Summer League hero, Dalen Terry, Isaiah Jackson, Simancich, Jacque Landau, Koloko, House. I took Kenrish Williams, Xavier Tillman, Jose Alvarado, Jalen McDaniels, Killian Hayes, Zeke Nagy, Ben Simmons, Sam Houser, Bones Hyland, The Nasus, Watanabe, Kevin Love, Johnny Davis. Let's bring Sarudy in, who was just watching this wondering what the fuck was going on. Sarudy, what team did you like more? Just off the cuff. The Seattle Supersonics or Vegas Regrets? Which team do I think can win double digit wins in their first season? Can I pick neither? I mean, I really like to quit. I think Quinton Grimes is the best guy. And I obviously is the first pick. I don't really love either team. I love that Bill was like, yeah, we're building culture here in Seattle. And then you picked Ben Simmons. Like we're getting Alvarado. We're bringing a bunch of culture guys in that a cold fix later. You took Ben Simmons. So on that alone, I think I have to side with Ryan's team. Listen, when you have a great culture, you can afford one wild card. Take a couple mistakes. If we're talking about taking a couple of wild cards, though, I was surprised. I actually, I would have had, I mean, I'm probably in the minority here. No magic players taken. I would have protected Isaac. I just think he's still valuable. If you're going to take Ben Simmons, at least like Isaac. I don't think you can take both. Can you take both? Maybe not both, but I just feel like the guy's a good defensive player at a bare minimum. I don't know. I know. His contract is totally different now to like the eligibility of what he's right. So it's basically one year. So I don't know. I think he's right. Did we take a pacer? Yeah, I took Isaiah Jackson. Oh yeah. Okay. Yeah, I think you're right. So D so you don't think Ben Simmons will get drafted in this sorority? I actually agree with you. I think I would take him, but I'm also not, I wouldn't say I'm building for culture and then, and then take him. But I think, yeah, why not take a flyer? Who cares? Like, what's the worst that could happen? He just sits out for the next four years. Like, it's not like you're going to be that good soon. Do you agree with us that, uh, neither of us took the angel Russell? Do you think that was just some Delo bias or do you think. It's not Delo bias. It's Delo reality. Like what are you talking about? Cause I had the killing Hayes spot where it's basically killing Hayes or Delo. I can't have both. And I just was like, I'd rather take a flyer and killing Hayes is 22 makes one third of the money. I guess I'd want to know, like, can I flip him in a couple months? Yeah. If that's the case, then I would, I would have definitely taken a D'Angelo over killing Hayes, but if I'm talking about guys that actually just like want to play and see if I could build something. Yeah. I'm not taking the Angela Russell, the, the Angela Russell, Kevin Porter Jr. Any of those guys, you mentioned Christian would like, no, they're hard passes. Yeah. Right. Because I mean, D'Angelo is arguably more talented than every single guy we just talked about right now. I'm texting all of the information reporters being like, don't be surprised if Yanis consider Seattle in two years, he's always loved the Pacific Northwest. He's very comfortable there. He went there a couple of years ago. He loves it. One of the bad aggregator sites has a quote, the fish is amazing. The gnosis.

"Leakers. This is probably easy. Oh, I guess if the rookie, it isn't. If JAJS is not available, so their seven would be LeBron, AD, Reeves, Rui, Vincent, Vanderbilt. And then there's two spots left for Torian Prince, who I think we both love for that team. I can't wait to see him on a good team, even if it is the Lakers, so I hate. Then you got Russell and Hayes, you got Reddish and then you have Max Christie, who's only 20 years old and everybody really likes him. And I think if all the guys I listed, I think Christie would be the one that just immediately got taken, so you almost might have to keep him. We're going to come off as the biggest Max Christie guys here for a couple of minutes. This actually isn't easy for the Lakers because the reason you probably did the D'Angelo-Russell deal, which is 17.3 million this year, and then a player option for 19 million, is they need that for a trade. Yeah. Well, combined with Rui, it equals Kyrie, which is the all-time red flag math. You just add up the contracts. It's like, oh, that's almost exactly Kyrie's number. Cool. So they all love Christie out here, right? You've probably heard the same stuff. He's good. Yeah. No, I think they think he's a real guy. So would you expose... The leaving clay unprotected argument is different than the D'Angelo-Russell one because I think I'd feel better about like, ah, I don't think they're going to take D'Angelo-Russell and then have him be the point guy for the team, like the stuff that you're supposed to do right. And then D'Angelo-Russell is running your basketball team. I think it's well established how I feel about that. But then can you tell LeBron like, hey, we exposed our best trade chip for Max Christie? It's a really tough one because they signed that Russell deal specifically to trade him in February. And I think even Russell, he waved stuff. He was just like, dude, here's an extra 7 million. You're a trade asset for us this year. It's more money than you're going to make. And he was like, great. Maybe you'll keep me. So if you expose him, I do agree that he would probably get picked. But I don't want to lose Christie. So I guess the question for me is, do you value Prince more than Russell on a team that's trying to win? I think they need Prince. I think he's going to be really important for them this year. So you're saying, all right, so then give me the two of the three that you're protecting if you're the Lakers between Prince, Christie and Russell. Prince and Christie for me. So you'd leave Russell exposed. I would. I'm okay with it because I wasn't even like nuts about signing him anyway. And I'm only doing it to trade him. And now I lose the possibility to trade him. You only are keeping him if you know you have a trade in February. And maybe they do, or maybe they think they have a chance. So then at that point, I guess you leave Prince exposed. But you could always trade Rui if it was a guy you really liked and you're trying to figure out how to get the contracts. And they've got a couple of the minimums with Reddish and Jackson Hayes. All right. So what's our final answer? See, the audience is enjoying this. They're like, man, I didn't think this was going to be fun, but now I'm involved in a Christie versus Prince argument. This is great. This is actually, I think it should be like pick up hoops where every other call that's debated, you just all turn like, all right, we got the last one. You get this one. It's the only way to be efficient instead of watching arguments while guys smoke cigarettes for 10 minutes. So I pushed back so hard on the clay thing. You can be the tiebreaker on this one. Then I get the next one. I'm going to leave Russell exposed. All right. Detroit. They're keeping Cade, the Thompson twin, Ivy. I think they keep Wiseman. Stewart, they just signed. Jaylen Duren. And after that, I don't know. Oh, Monty Morris I had just because I think he's a trade asset, I think they keep him. So maybe that's seven. So I had one spot left for Bagley and Burks and they're going to expose him. Burks is an expiring. Detroit could also do the thing where they just protect seven and they're like have at it. No, I don't think they would do that. Because did you mention Livers? I think they like him. Okay. So we'll make Livers the eight. That's easy. All right. That's good. The Knicks Brunson, Randall, Barrett, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson, DDV quickly. And then that last spot comes down to Grimes, Hartenstein or McBride. And I had Grimes down on the initial list, but if you want to make the Hartenstein case, I'm here for it. Because I think he gets picked in five seconds. Yeah. I protected Hartenstein. All right. But they're in a spot. They're going to lose somebody in this, whether it's Grimes, Miles McBride, Jericho Sims. I imagine Fournier is not going to be in demand. Fournier available. Yeah. But it's Randall Brunson, RJ, Mitchell Robinson, Hart, DiVincenzo quickly and Hartenstein. Oklahoma City is the most screwed in this gimmick. I thought they were going to be way worse off than they were, but go ahead. Oh, I guess if you're going to take out Wallace, what about this Michic? Michic? Michic? Yeah. This point guard? Yeah. I think they would protect him. But we're saying they have to protect him. He's not like a typical rookie. Because they brought him over. Okay. So we got SGA, Giddy, Chet Holmgren, Jalen and Jalen, Dort, Michic. And then that eighth spot comes down to Williams, Poku, Dang. Oh, it'd probably be Mann. Garuba, they like, and Isaiah Joe. I'm guessing it's Mann. I don't know. What do you think? I'll let you defer. You watched more OKC than I did this year. I'm probably a little too high on Usman, Dang, but I don't think that they would leave him unprotected. They took him that high. He was somebody that you thought, wow, as he put it together his last year in the Australian league, you could see that he was doing some things. So he really fits their profile. So I just don't think he would be left unprotected. So it's SGA, Dort, Chet, Giddy, both Williams, Dang and Michic. So that means it's Bertons, who's got a big number, Oladipo, Kenrich Williams, Garuba, who I loved reading. Some of the stuff with Hoops Hype, not always my favorite, but when you get a nugget like Danilo Gallinari telling some international newspaper that he's going to circle every Celtics date. I loved it. And you're like, what the fuck? Why are you mad at the Celtics? And then there was another moment where Garuba was telling people that he was like, you know, I was in a bad spot previously and they were like, all right, yeah, no problem. So anyway, I had Isaiah Joe available. Yep. Got him, Tiff. So Poku's available. Okay. So we'll have a top four pick in this draft. Poku could be the face of a franchise. Just put him right in the poster. Put him on the poster. I guess if we're saying rookies are not eligible, then Kobe cannot be picked, but it's Young Murray, Okongwoo, Griffin, Capella, Hunter, Bogdanovich. And then that eighth spot is either Sadiq Bey or Jalen Johnson. I'll let you pick. I put Bey down to be protected, but it'd be tough. I didn't like Jalen Johnson out of Duke. I thought there were still moments in the playoffs where he looked pretty scared, but when the moments were good, there was some really good stuff there. So he would be picked if he's left unprotected. And I think Bey wins that tiebreaker. Sacramento has a seven of Fox, Sabonis, Keegan Murray, Herter, Monk, Harrison Barnes. So they just brought back in Davion Mitchell. And that eighth spot is between Vezinkov, Lyles, Duarte. It seems like they like Vezinkov. So I'm assuming that would be the guy they protected, right? They were all excited about bringing him over. Yeah. He's a big dude. The three-point shooting has been pretty solid. And I think he falls into the Meachich category here. Yep. Last team is Utah. Wait, wait, wait. So unprotected for Sacramento would be who? Lyles, Duarte, Alex Len, Nurlans-Noel, Kessler-Edwards? Yes. Utah is tough because it's got marketing, Kessler, Clarkson. Oh, I guess George doesn't count. Okay. And neither does Hendricks. So therefore it would be marketing, Kessler, Clarkson, and Agbaji. And then we'd have to go Collins, Sexton, Olenek. I guess it's not as tough if we're taking the rookies. It's not that hard. Horton, Tucker. Okay. All right. They're unprotected just to be it's your seven, Chris Dunn, Shimonich. Horton, Tucker. Yeah. You learned a lot from LeBron. They can do that thing. All right. We're going to take a break and then we're going to do the draft. But before we take a break, do you want to be Seattle or do you want to be Vegas in this expansion draft? I would love to be Seattle. I fought hard for them in 2007 and 08, and I'm happy to hand Vegas to you. I'll take Vegas, but you have way more of a history of Vegas than I do. So you want Seattle? I'm happy to defer. That's fine. I'll take Vegas. You push for Seattle. I do have a Yellow Sonics t-shirt though that's kicking around somewhere. It's amazing what t-shirts you discover when you move. All right. Coming back, the draft. All right. It's time. It's the 2023 expansion draft that will never happen in August, but we don't care because there's nothing else to talk about. What do you want us to... You want us to have a Dame Lord, Miami conversation? It's not happening. I thought that deal was done. Nobody cares. I forgot. I forgot they figured out the deal a while ago. Do you have a name? Wait, wait. Do you have a team name? We're the Seattle SuperSonics. We're back. You're right. You're right. What are you going to be? Has anyone ever had an emotion? The Vegas regrets? The Vegas regrets? Right. And their mascot's just a guy with short sleeve button down, balding, bags under his eyes, reading a credit card statement. I love the Vegas regrets. That's funny. He just goes around, high fives kids, hugs them. It's just so good to see you again. I would buy a Vegas regrets basketball t-shirt right now. All right. The Vegas regrets are on the clock with the first pick. Who do you have? I almost didn't want the first pick. I'll take the first pick if you don't want it. I'll take it. No, this is history. I'm going to take Quinton Grimes. Okay. Quinton Grimes off the board. How do you feel about that? Good contract. What's he at? Good contract. He's still on a rookie deal. Yeah. Good asset. Can probably flip him. Would your expansion strategy be assets you can flip or guys you can build around or both? Because I would be in the assets. If I would just emulate what Presti would do in this situation, I think Presti would just be, I want assets. I want picks. I'll take guys you don't want. Give me a pick back. All that stuff. I would be down for all of it, but I don't know that I'm going to completely tell you my strategy here on draft day. Very fair. Very fair. That's what Costner would do. Do you like how I tried to get you to tell me your strategy? It's very Danny Ainge of you. Seattle SuperSonics on the clock. This is already tough. I don't like the board. Dude, you are not going to like the board. Ask Ringer to not do a breakout graphic of expansion draft teams because no one's going to go through the exercise. They're just going to look and be like, are you serious? These teams are terrible. We're breaking the rules. We're doing it after the off season. I can't wait. I can't wait until I pick. I can't wait for your pick right now. I'm going to take Kenridge Williams. Okay. He's off the board. What's his salary? Four years, 27 million. Basically six a year. 29 years old. I feel like I could flip them. Who do you got? Did we say Jalen Johnson's available then? Yes. All right. I'll take Jalen Johnson. Jalen Johnson. Nice pick. I'm going to take Xavier Tillman. Great value. I like my team already. I got some NBA players. You have Quentin Grimes, Jalen Johnson. I have Kenridge Williams and Xavier Tillman. Okay. That means... Kenrick Williams or Kenrich Williams? I always screw this up with Kenrich. I got it. You almost want it to be Kenrick because... Yeah, Kenrich. Okay. I don't think anybody does. Here's what's interesting. Because it's a two team draft, does that mean I can't take another Nick? No. Does that mean you can take a Nick? Nope. Once a team loses a guy, they're out of the draft. All right. I was almost going to... I might've had... If there was no rule like that, I may have gone three or four Nicks just to get started. Sims to McBride to Grimes down the lane. They lost their guy. Okay. So what did we land on with Memphis? Well, see, wait, they just... You took Xavier Tillman. So because you took Tillman, I can't take Aldama or La Ravia or Roddy, the body. Nope. Can't do it. The other expansion room is motherfucking you right now. They're like, seriously, of all the Memphis options, that's what you went with and now none of those guys are available? We're going to take Tillman to lunch tomorrow and be like, look, man, our whole offense is pick and pop with you, baby. You are a 2010 guy. This is happening. Okay. I got to go back to my larger board here. I was thinking about taking Thanasis for the Lakers or Heat. You like that? Too soon. I couldn't believe Miami didn't give him like 5 million a year. The full mid-level? Yeah. The full mid-level for like four years. Or they would have been when they get it. I don't know the latest numbers. Okay. All right. All right. I'm on the clock. Turning into the Vikings here. I know. Well, because we kind of left a few things. So does that mean Gary Payton was our option for Golden State? You can take them right now. See you on the Vegas Regrets. All right. I know what I wanted to do. I figured you would go wing heavy. No, I still have a theory that's still in play here. It doesn't matter. That Xavier Tillman thing sort of fucked me a little bit here. So you're taking Gary Payton? Well, I'm going to need somebody that I know can play, which even though my team's going to stink, I'll take Gary Payton because that way, at least contractually, it's not that big of a deal. I don't love him away from Golden State necessarily, but I'll take him just because I think there's a good chance that somebody else will want him if he stays healthy. So there you go. I'm going to take Jose Alvarado. You can have him. You just did it again. You ruined all the other Pelicans options because you're taking the... You know what I'm doing? I'm building a culture, Rossello. Guys from overachieving winning programs. Alvarado, you know who's going to love Alvarado? My fans in Seattle. We are screaming at you in our draft room. Wow, who would you have taken? Okay, but just to back up here, of the final New Orleans options, all right, we said Nance would be protected, and then that left Kyra Lewis, Najee, Alvarado, and EJ Laddell, and you decided to take Alvarado, and now I can't take any of the other guys. You cannot. Sorry. Kyra Lewis, man. Kyra Lewis has been available for a year and a half. He's been hurt. He's out of the rotation. You can trade for him right now. I guarantee the Vegas Regrets could acquire him for a second round pick. Yeah, but I'd rather just not had to go through the negotiation stuff. That's all. All right, now who else would you... I can't believe you did back-to-back teams where you fucked it up for me. You should have taken guys from those teams. Delos staring at you now. That's the antithesis of what I would want to do. So is Sam Houser. Kevin Porter Jr. Probably wouldn't do it, but I think he'd be protected anyway. His contract's really weird anyway with the staggered guarantees. I actually had... Oh, I guess we didn't do Houston. There's a Porter versus Joc Landau versus Tate. Which one of those guys becomes protected? I thought they would leave Porter unprotected. He's got a weird contract where you can get out of it at the end of the year anyway, but why would that team want Porter? If I'm a new expansion team, I'm not giving Kevin Porter Jr. the basketball and saying, it's yours. This is your team. You're our number one option. Even though he's really talented, I just wouldn't want to do it. Let's double check here with Houston then, because we didn't go through it. Well, Houston has Van Vliet, Jabari, Thompson, Whitmore, Jalen Green, Sengoon, and Eason as the guaranteed seven. And then that eighth spot is either Porter or Landau. Or you could take your guy, Jeff Green. Culture? No doubt. No doubt. I protected Tate and left Landau, Holiday, and Green unprotected. Let's say that then. That's fine. I can't take Tate, because I love myself some Jay Sean Tate, probably too much. Yeah, you're right. They would protect him. He's got a good contract, Tate. I'm going to hold off on that, and I'm going to go ahead and take Rubio. Rubio? Rubio. Interesting. What's his money? Two years left, 12 and a half million this year, and then it's 10 plus million guaranteed. I'm already on the books for a little bit more than I thought I would be this and into it. That's fine. But if we go through Cleveland, it's Garland, it's Mitchell, it's Allen, it's Mobley, Le Vert protected, Struce protected, Acoro protected, and I protected Niang. I just think there's worse teammates you could have for a younger group. But the thing is about culture and all this stuff, all of these guys are going to be replaced in three years. So what are you really building? You're selling uniforms and hopefully some tickets. For Dallas, if Lively can't be protected, Kleber would be their eighth guy, and they would have Luca, Kyrie, Grant Williams, Hardy, Kleber. Kleber is definitely protected. Josh Green, Curry, and O-Max. So that means Dwight Powell is available. Just wanted to mention that. Right, but O-Max is on the rookie thing. Oh, I guess O-Max. So that Dwight Powell wouldn't be available then. So that Dallas becomes harder then. Okay, but here's what I did. I'll run through a quick. Luca, Kyrie, Haraway Jr., Grant Williams, who's loving it already. Kleber, Josh Green without question. I can't believe Seth Curry gets a one year, $4 million deal with the second year not guaranteed in today's NBA, but that's what happened. That was awesome. And then I think they'd protect Jaden Hardy over JaVale, Rashawn Holmes, Powell, and Exum. I agree. So for Orlando, Powell, O'Franz, Black. Oh, Black's not. That screwed up my board. So Anthony. All right, so they don't really have anybody. Orlando was a little easier than I thought it would be too. Do you want me to run through what I have for Orlando? Well, who'd you have for Toronto? Because Toronto was Siakam Barnes, Inenobi, Pertl, Boucher, Precious, Koloko, and either Trent, Shruder, McDaniels, or Flynn as the eighth. Probably Flynn would be the eighth, right? I don't know. It's Siakam, Pertl, OG, Trent, Barnes, Shruder, Precious, Boucher, Boucher. I don't know why. So do you have Trent as a protected for them? I do. If you don't like the contract, do you think they'd leave it? Well, if Trent's the one who's protected, then- That would leave Thaddeus Young, AKA Thadgic Johnson, which I found on Basketball Reference, had never heard that. Otto Porter, Jalen McDaniels, who disappeared for the Sixers, Malachi Flynn, AKA Malichi Flynn on one NBA league pass broadcast this year. Garrett Temple, Jeff Dowton, Koloko. You know what? I'm going to take Jalen McDaniels. I think he was on a bad team in Charlotte, gets traded to Philly mid-season, gets thrown into the fire, is not ready to play in some of those games because he doesn't have the experience, and now is a distressed asset and we're going to rebuild him here in Seattle. So that's my eighth pick. So I have Kenrich Williams, Tillman, Alvarado, Jalen McDaniels, and the Vegas Regrets are on the clock. Okay. Give me Duarte. I was looking at him. That's a good pick. He was out of the rotation. He had some injuries, obviously, as well, but I fucking loved his draft stuff, man. And he shot, I think, like 39% his rookie year and there were different people involved with it. So meaning the guard rotation with the Pacers and it just was between his injuries and the lack of minutes and everything, I don't know that his numbers last year reflect who he actually is. So I'll take a shooter. A Detroit guy needs to go. I like the pick. A Detroit guy needs to go here and it's between Bagley and Burks and Killian Hayes. It can finally happen for you, man. You and Bags. It's not going to be Bags. I'm going to take a flyer on Killian Hayes, who I got to say... You're laughing. I got to say... He had a couple moments last year where I was like, all right. Did he? Yeah. Yeah. A couple moments. Give me a moment. Give me a Killian Hayes moment where you said, I see it. Eye test. Flicking around on league pass. Like, all right. I liked how he ran that high screen there. I'm just betting on pedigree. Lottery pick. They take a point guard like a year later. Weird situation. Lots of players. They had 40 big guys. Give them a whirl in Seattle. You're on the clock. Okay. I can't believe we didn't take Poku. I kind of regret that now. Well, wait a minute. Has anybody been taken? No, I took an OKC guy. They're off the table. You took all the Sacramento guys. Oh, that's right. Because you also took Trey Mann out of the mix and Poku. This is an unbelievable run of... You eliminated all the good players from OKC, Memphis, and New Orleans. You took the Knicks. I was there to take Hartenstein. Hartenstein. All right. Who do you got? We're now in D-low range just for the record. Fair. Fair. I'll do this because at least I know he can play and the number still isn't that bad. Give me Dwight Powell. Yep. I like it. What I've done is I have like 30 million in three guys. Good value. Not even. I'm like 25 million with the three guys. Then I have room to work here because I still want to come in under the cap. If I don't trade for anybody, all these guys get raises. They get expansion into the ear checks. I am going to go with the guy that I've liked for a while. He's still on a rookie deal. I think he's got some talent. His name is Zeke Naji, and all the nuggets are now off the board. That's fine. We can adjust. You like Zeke? I don't hate him. Malone's not going to play a lot of younger guys. They didn't need to. The rotation got even shorter. That's why I think it's interesting that Booth takes three rookies in, and they're all talking about like, hey, we love these guys. They can all play. They can do all these different things, and they're more seasoned. That's what we like here in Denver. Then I'd be like, I can't wait to watch all of them never play. Can we go over the Denver question though? Because I think this is a good way to break up this part of the draft. Well, Denver had Jokic, Murray, Gordon, Porter, KCP, Braun. I had Holiday as their seventh because they seemed like they wanted to play. Christian Braun's another off-season pronunciation. I don't blame you. Did I say Braun or Brown? You said Braun. I meant Brown. Yeah, everybody did. Would you leave Porter Jr. unprotected with four years and 150 million left fully guaranteed? I can't. It's a good question. I did think about it, you can't because you have this window with Jokic where you have the best player in the world that is prime. Porter had really good moments in the playoffs. You probably can't because then again, it comes down to like, okay, cool. It's off the books and his back and the medical concerns and all that, but then what? Now what are we doing? You just want a title. I think you're right on that one. I do like Hunter Tyson though. I don't know if his contract is as bad anymore when we see some of these numbers coming in. It's 33, 36, 38, 40 in the last year for the next four. Look, not great. I'm not celebrating it, but when you see Jalen's going to be at 70 in year five, I just don't think those numbers are that daunting. Fair. We're going to see some crazy contracts. Who do you have next? We've each taken six people. I'm going to start digging into my old – I know I don't have to worry about it. Give me Josh Minot. Who do you want? Josh Minot. You all right? I don't know who that is. He's the incredibly, incredibly skinny dude that has all sorts of skills. He's on Timberwolves. I guess I could have taken him a little bit later. I think this is another good segue. I never saw him play one minute of basketball last year. You didn't see him in the summer league at all? No. Oh, okay. All right. Look, there's just something about him. Now we're letting some of the area scouts get more influence here going, what if this guy put it together? I don't think it's a certainty they would leave – that they would protect Rudy Gobert. This is exciting right now for me. This is going to be the most exciting pick of the draft. This will be the breakout. Okay. But can we touch on the Rudy thing for a second? Whether you lead him out? Right. You and I would, but I don't think they can. That might be the right answer. But if you – You can't because then it's like you're just admitting we've made the most damaging trade of the last 25 years. I also – I have a zag. I'm glad you're sitting down. They probably did the best job against Denver last year in the playoffs out of the four teams. Like they gave those big guys – nobody gave Jokic like a shitload of trouble, but he kind of had to work the hardest against them. And I have to go through Jokic to win the title, and I want size. I want big dudes. And Minnesota has him and Nas and Towns. And I don't know, you can talk yourself into it if that's the team you have to go through. Did you see the stuff where he was shooting threes in the summer? There was a video – Honestly, I would like all summer content of big guys doing shit they'll never, ever do in a game. I would like to be blocked from all of it moving forward. Don't go to Hoopsite then. And I know 12-year-olds run a lot of these breakout accounts, but seeing a seven-footer at LA Fitness pull up from NBA 3 after going between his legs will never do it in an NBA game and then being like, this dude's been putting in the work this summer. And you're like, all right, cool. Anyway, if Minnesota had a tougher decision for the eighth guy to be protected, I think it'd be a real conversation. Go Bears, 41 million, 44 million. Player option for 47 million. He'll be 33 in his last year. Probably pick that one up. So that would leave you with Kat Conley, Edwards, Nas Reed, Kyle Anderson, Alexander Walker, Janet McDaniels. And then you'd have Shaq and Mina covered there, or you could go Wendell Moore if you liked him. That would have to be like a camp thing where they're around him all the time. They're like, oh, we don't want to leave this guy. But you're probably right. So I'm not going to spend any more time on it that they would feel like they couldn't do it. Because there's also the part, like imagine today's world, today's generation of NBA players, like his documentary starts 10 years from now and be like, they left me exposed in the 2023 expansion draft. It's like the Steph Curry draft. Underrated. The Steph Curry story. He was the sixth pick in the draft. This is like one of the most famous college players in the last 15 years. Nobody believed in me. LeBron, I'm not even supposed to be here. Dude, you're fucking 6'9 and you move like no one we've ever seen. Yeah. You're the biggest short thing that's come into the league since I've been alive. Ben Simmons. My next pick is going to surprise you, stun you. Ben Simmons. I know what it is. Oh my God. Ben Simmons. Okay. Let's go through Brooklyn. So you're right. He's unprotected in this exercise. Bridges, Cam Johnson, Claxton, Phinney Smith, O'Neill, whatever. Whoever they... Sharp, Cam Thomas, whoever, but they're leaving Ben Simmons unprotected, hoping somebody takes him. And he's definitely unprotected. And guess what? I just took him. We're bringing him to Seattle. We're going to introduce him to Gus Williams. All the Sonics fans. We're going to rebuild you, Ben Simmons. You're going to be the face of our franchise. And also I got to spend $89 million. I need one expensive guy. So why not Ben Simmons? There we go. Are you serious? Are you doing this for the video? I am not doing it for the video. I think if I'm an expansion team, what's the worst thing that could happen? I want to be bad anyway. Right? I want to be bad. I want to have a bottom five team. I want to take flyers on guys who have talent. I want to take assets that I feel like I can flip and I want to have a certain identity. And with Simmons, is there a 5% chance he might put it back together? He's like 25. This is over? Other than cocaine stories and shit like that, there's no version of this ever in the history of the league where somebody just completely lost it at age 24, who was an all NBA guy. And I know the odds are against it, but if I'm an expansion team, what do I care? I'll roll the dice with Ben Simmons. But I would tell the Nets, I'll take Ben Simmons, but can I get a first in like 2029? Or float me three seconds down the road or something. I would try to get something from them, but I would want him in this. Wow. I would want him in this. He would never have taken... No way. No way. I don't want him around. I don't want to see his videos being posted, speaking of videos in the off season, and then not playing. His whole, the JJ Reddick podcast episode alone would make me not take him. Here's the thing about football players and basketball players. When they hit their late 20s, there is a lot of track record of guys either figuring out, maturing, just kind of putting shit together. And maybe it happens with him. I think it's worth the gamble. All right, you're up. The Vegas regrets. You just took a guy that I've literally never heard of, and I follow basketball for a living. I wasn't on the Minnesota Summer League scene this year. I was really doubling down on that one. I'm just trying to go for it. I have a list of players who'd be like, hey, I always kind of liked that guy. What happened to him? Kyra Lewis. He would have been on the Vegas regrets. He didn't take fucking Alvarado. Give me Dalen Terry, Chicago Bulls. I like that one. I just always liked his game. Yeah. That's a good one. I had him. He was probably my next pick. He was on your radar? Yeah. You're not seeing the Alvarado thing. I'm an expansion team. I need somebody that's going to go to the fucking malls in Seattle with my jersey on and throw little balls out to people who's going to do interviews, who's going to be just like the fan favorite immediately, especially if I have Ben Simmons on my team. I need a fan favorite. Right. The Alvarado pick now makes way more sense. Thank you. You're trying to counter whatever vibes you have him wearing civvies, game 41. I need a shooter who has trade value and it's Sam Hazard time. I knew that was the biggest lock. I can't believe it took so long. I wasn't going to take him. I almost took him two rounds ago, but I knew I could get him right around here. Cheap contract. He's played in some games. Sneaky, decent defender. He's gotten better every year, and I look forward to seeing Ben Simmons find him in the corner for corner threes. I have Kenridge Williams, Tillman, Alvarado, McDaniels, Killeen Hayes, Zeke Nagy, Ben Simmons, and Sam Hazard. That's a pretty good basketball team. You have Quentin Grimes, Jalen Johnson, Gary Payton, Ricky Rubio, Chris Duarte, Dwight Powell, the Minnesota Summer League legend, and Dale and Terry. How many do you want to go here? Do you want to go 12, 15? We're going 15. We're drafting one from every team. We have not had a Laker yet. No, we haven't. I'm going to just let you know, even though my approach would tell you that Cam Reddish, be like, hey, what happened to that guy, baby? No, we're good. Not going to happen. It's funny that we argued for five minutes about whether they would leave D'Lo unprotected, and we've just taken 16 players and he hasn't been picked yet. You knew I wasn't taking them. I'm not. I know. I can just get them later. I'm excited about it. You could take them 16. Should we talk about Miami? The reason I bring this up is for one specific reason. All right, so my protectors, I have Butler Bam Hero, Caleb Martin, Jovic, who's apparently fucking awesome. Actually, that's kind of a Lillard joke, but I like Jovic before the draft. I like Jovic too. I don't think he should be the centerpiece of a Dame Lillard trade, but I like him. That's kind of a joke. That's kind of a joke. They actually have to kind of protect Lowry, right, to keep the money for potential trade? The thing is, yeah, they do. I had them leaving Kevin Love and Highsmith unprotected. Okay, so if Highsmith is unprotected, I'm taking him right now. The problem is if it's Butler Bam, Martin, Hero, Jovic, Duncan Robinson, Kyle Lowry, there's still an eight spot for them, and they probably protect Highsmith or Love, right? So we have to decide what makes more sense for them. I had Highsmith protected. I worked it to go, all right, this is another one of the Miami heat culture development guys, and if I think there's somebody who I liked some of his minutes, and I liked a lot of Highsmith's minutes last year- You and I both liked him, yeah. So then he's protected. We can't manipulate. I had a moment late last night where I was like, just fucking get Precious Ochoa unprotected and get your dude. And then I was like, no, I can't break the rules of the game. I had him unprotected because I thought we were counting rookies, but since we aren't, I think he has to be protected. They don't have enough guys. So it's probably Kevin Love for that team. Yeah, and it's not a ton of money, so we'll be okay.

"What was? You know super interesting for the for the Rockets. If you look at their they're just roster. She we think of this team, as you know, got a job Want you young guys, and all these guys who are signed a rookie scale deals. If one Kevin Porter, Jr. All their other young guys were second-round picks undrafted players or guys that they signed as free agents. So, so I'll take that is, you know, just something that kinda keep in mind. This team may not be quite quite as young as you know. I think some some people think, I mean, particularly when they're in a full rebuild, we tend to think they're very young team. Maybe they've got a little bit but but again I love what they did on draft night. I'm a big fan of of and I keep going back cuz I'm just a big fan of Guru but because I am a sucker for guys who can make the right reads on the defensive end of the floor Time After Time After Time and you know, consistently, they're going to put themselves in the right spot at the right time and that's exactly what gruba can do. And when the other guys like Porter would green, those are offensive leading, guys. So I like his fit with those guys and Schengen that's a nice fit long-term Houston. Rockets question, coming in here. What are they doing John Wall now? I mean he is going to be he doesn't fit on this roster, that's for sure. Yeah, going Well, no contract is untradeable. We've seen Russell Westbrook. Get traded out three times. So yeah, for time for three it's three times three days on his fourth. Yeah yeah yeah. On his fourth package. Yeah. Yeah. Which is oddly enough he's played for more teams than Kevin Durant. Yeah..

"Something on. Then he's hand in hand on the beach. She looked like Tom Hanks from cast away a little bit. On my nipples. Hopefully you're safe out there beat. Oh, and we look forward to your inevitable hopefully inevitable return and climb a tower you this afternoon? What a great day it is. What a beautiful day to go out there. No, I had a good good weekend Fun weekend didn't get any golf in but Great Saturday to our show with Verne Lundquist was on the 15th floor. Yeah. What's up with her? Nice police headed out today. Toe video in the PGA Championship. CBS. He's doing a couple hours every day for CBS Kiwis 80 years old now and still Still going after and full of a lot of stories. We had a good time with him and just, you know, relaxing day. Got it Some exercise this morning, but looking forward to try to get you to explain and explain why this is a good thing. This MBA plane is I think it's the stupidest thing I have. Ever heard. What's wrong with letting in the 18 from each division and just start the playoffs? I'm not necessarily. I'm not the one to convince you that it's a good thing. But yes, But first of all, the NBA regular season is over on now there's just 2.5 more months of playoffs, And then that'll be a an MBA season in the books, But yeah s o the plane tournament. Let me tell you how, because a lot of people probably don't understand how it works. I understand, But I just don't like it because it's not a tournament necessarily. But The six Excuse me. The 789 10 seeds from each conference are in what they're calling the play in tournament seven plays eight with the winner of that game automatically is in the playoffs. They're the 17. Okay, give me some Deal in the East Boston seven, and Washington is eight. Indiana is nine and Charlotte is 10 right, So Boston and the Wizards are going to play each other tomorrow night on the winner is automatically and will be the seven seed and they'll take on the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. So congratulations to the winner of that game. Then the nine seed in the 10 see the Pacers and Hornets. They play each other. And the loser is out. End of season Turks and Caicos. Here we come the winner, though the winner then plays the loser of the 78 matchup. The one we just mentioned with the winner of that game, then being the eight seed and they would play the Philadelphia 76 year, Same thing. Different teams in the West closer closer to home. Why do you not like the play in tournaments because I don't really like it either, but I like it the way they had it where the top eight teams would square off on the playoffs would begin. I just like that, now closer to home. Lakers are seven clip and warriors or eight they play Wednesday night winner is in loser will play the winner of Memphis and San Antonio. Correct? Yes, So even if you lose, so even if LeBron in the Laker lose on Wednesday, right that they they're not out. It is not the nightmare scenario. In fact, this is, as I said several times last week, probably a dream scenario for the MBA and that you're going to get a Steph Curry LeBron James one game playoff to be the seven seed to get into the playoffs. But if The LeBron were to lose, which is would not be great for the league and to a lesser extent, Steph Curry and the Warriors. They're not out. They have the chance to beat the winner of Spurs Grizzlies Ross Day and now the reason they did this. It started last year pandemic season that they finished in the bubble because the league was basically saying, Hey, we understand it's not fair. We're cutting the season short. Some of you teams were just get cured A rounding into form, they might. You might even call it the Zion Williamson playing tournament because they wanted to get the pelicans in on, so they had it a year ago. Keeps so many more teams in the race later in the season. I suppose you could say it's reducing tanking. It is not. This is not eliminated. Tanking. Congratulations, Houston, Texas Houston Rockets. By the way, you want 17 games, you officially had the worst record in all of basketball 17 games. I could name Kevin Porter Jr. And that's it. I don't know any other players on the Houston Rockets that, Yeah, that guy. The idea is it supposed to eliminate tanking and create more interesting games late in the season? I think I heard Jalen Rose say yesterday, the last day of the regular season that there's 20 teams that will advance past that day, and they were still 17 slots that had not been Cliched if you live, you know a lot of those air seeding, but for I mean for them like they're trying to say that there's all these games that matter now that didn't wouldn't have mattered before. I'm like, Actually, a lot of them would have mattered, maybe would have mattered more because some of these teams you know, would like Memphis, I believe lost yesterday. But had they would have had to win to get in the playoffs. Now they're in this play in tournament where they play the Spurs right at home right, which in Memphis, the Spurs Craig Popovich called in sick for game as he should he should he should. He should. He should have what I guess I mess it. Schoening at the half of that game, Saturday's game, they're down by like 27 at the half there in the on the precipice of the playoffs. It's crunch time of the season. And Gregg Popovich is like I'm not coming. I'm gonna go see Tim Duncan get inducted, which he should let he did that he should. Yeah, but another thing that you had yesterday, the last day of the season that is, I mean, this is not related to the plane tournament, but Teams are tanking, furred proceeding purposes, the Clippers, the cutters, Lipper's sat their entire starting lineup. Go wipe all Joe. All of their guys did not play because they wanted to move out of the three seed down to the forcing. They lost Okla. They lost the Oklahoma City one of the worst teams in the league on It makes absolute sense for them because the Lakers right they they'll play the Mavericks now a rematch of exciting serious from a year ago. He didn't want any part of the Lakers. Yeah, they won't have to play the Lakers until Oh, the Western Conference finals. Should it come up that direction? There you go. That's the That's your your your play in your day and moment Preview. Yeah, but it's gonna be compelling. I believe to see the warriors in the Lakers because I think Steph Curry sure is the m V P of the league this year. That is very incorrect and elements, but I think he is. You know what? We'll talk more on that We'll take the win the scoring title he did when he won this. That's all that judge's team came in eighth place, never eat or some of the most valuable player and he's the most valuable player on a mediocre team. We'll have more on that. Let's talk about these class and I want to talk about the NBA Hall of Fame inductions as well. Excuse me, the basketball Hall of things just the MBA. Eyes, my man, Tim Duncan, As I told you crushed it.

Seth curry shooting guard. Danny green and tobias harris forward And then potential. Mvp joel embiid at starting center. How about for the rockets are they. Are they at full strength for this game. "H iwin dot com The first thing we didn't know about Round one last night was the Niners plans for number three. They went with Trey Lance, not Mack Jones or Justin Fields Lands told Westwood one the found out basically when we did Probably about two minutes before you guys did on TV. Yeah, again. Just feel super blessed that they did that made those sacrifices for all the Mack Jones rumors. Predraft Kyle Shanahan says that came from outside the organization. And ever since then, I've kind of just watched every single person assume that that was accurate and that those weren't opinions. Those were facts and we don't feel that way from the beginning. I wanted, it said. There's no chance we want enough. We're gonna go to this process and we wanted I would never said it couldn't have ended up with his Lance In the end. The Niners also answered Aaron Rodgers questions last night with GM John Lynch, confirming he called Green Bay but was rebuffed immediately. GM Brian Gouda kun says they're not trading Rogers anywhere. With Rogers reportedly so fed up with the organization that he wants out. That drama ran side by side with the picks last night after Trevor Laurence to the Jags and Zach Wilson to the Jets and then Lance, the Falcons use number four on Florida tied and Kyle pits. The Bangles, then went with Ellis, you receiver Jamaar Chase. The Dolphins followed with Bama, receiver Jim and Waddle and the Lions picked Oregon tackle Panay Sul. No draft had ever started with seven consecutive pick from the same side of the ball in all 18 offensive players. Selected last night, one shy of the old time mark that 18 included the Bears trading with the Giants for number 11 to take Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Mack Jones lasting until the Patriots at 15. After passing on Fields and Jones last night. The Panthers have picked up their fifth year option on Sam Donaldson's No guaranteed $18.9 million. For 2022. Vintage Kevin Durant last night in the Nets, 1, 31 13 Women Indy 42 points and 10 assists for head coach Steve Nash. Very, very impressive. I mean, you look at his line Could I say I got the luxury of coaching Kevin Durant and stick him in the game, and Hardaway Jr also scored 42 last night is the Mavs one in Dallas 1 15 1 of five with Lucas sitting out with a sore elbow and Kevin Porter Jr put 50 on the Bucks in the Rockets. 1 43 1 36 when Johannes left after 46 seconds After twisting an ankle, the Dodgers losing in Milwaukee to one, they've dropped eight of 11, the Cubs and 93 win in Atlanta, and the Rangers beat the Red Sox for one. Some college football news This morning. Kansas has hired Buffaloes Lance Leopold to replace Les Miles Leopold is a two time Mac coach of the year. His bowls made three consecutive bowl games. And the Pittsburgh Penguins in the postseason for the 15th consecutive year. They clinch with last night's 54 OT win over the cabs to also claim their spot, but for just the seventh season in a row Go back to you, My very tall friend Andrew, Bogus and Andrew. Bogus on Twitter. Thank you, buddy. We will talk to you in an hour. Your bogus reference to talk about it. Let's get into Aaron Rodgers and the unlikable reality that his self absorption, at least as it relates to how he's conducted himself at critical points of his team season in the NFL schedule doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if he's the bad guy, or if I'm totally misreading this, and he's just playing power politics because he can. The only distinction that matters is he's an old world talent who is still capable of being the bastard one of the best quarterbacks in a game to find by quarterback play and the Green Bay Packers and the idiot to run it better start to figure it out. We'll dive into that next here on CBS Sports Radio. As the cove in 19 vaccines become available, You may be asking yourself Should I get it? Will it help me get back to doing the things I love like meeting friends or traveling? And can I do it.

"The Falcons Lions Panthers Broncos pass on him the top 10 Bear straight up to number 11 to take Justin Fields instead. So Jones was there for the taking for the Patriots at number. 15 Accuracy is one of Jones best trades, completing 77% of his passes last phone Alabama but, says Bill Belichick All the players that were drafted today and the ones that draft get drafted. That's a couple days that they were all good in college. So Whatever it was, it was transferred to the NFL. E mean, It's amazing. Couldn't care less. I guess I'll take him. I guess, e guess he found receivers whatever time Jones was the fifth and final QB taken last night. The draft began is scheduled with Trevor Lauren to the Jaguar. Zach will listen to the Jets. The Niners one would train lands third and then fields to the Bears. Are they traded up with the Giants? The Falcons used the fourth pick on Florida. Ty didn't Kyle pits and then the Bangles got Joe Burrows old friend Jamaar Chase, his new head coach, Jack Taylor. I need to be more explosive. You know, That's one of the things that we lacked these last two years really? And and so, adding a guy Haj more chase when you already got TV and get to Higgins, and then we got a good death behind him as well. And then you look at some of the other playmakers. We got an offense. We're really excited about. The Dolphins followed with Obama receiver Jalen Waddle and then Devante Smith to the Eagles. The genius Dave Gettleman went with Florida receiver could areas Tony at number 20 after that trade with Chicago and the Ravens picked Minnesota receiver shot Bateman. Late in the round. In all 18 offensive players selected last night, one shy of the all time record set three different times. But the first seven picks of the night were offense that has never happened before, on either side of the ball, the Packers and overnight that they are not trading Aaron Rodgers, the QB has reportedly told members the organization he's so unhappy. He doesn't want to return. The possibility of hosting jeopardy keeps getting thrown into this conversation. And if that's not annoying enough, we apparently had Tim Tebow recently working out as a Tight end for the Jaguars. Tebow reportedly asked for the session and old friend Urban Meyer said yes to Bo's last NFL game was 2012 in the embody 11 called. We don't Care anymore. We told you this a decade ago. It's only right into the NFL's over baseball. Where's the baseball career? No. You actually missed this more as he officially retired from baseball. I think before spring training, Wow. Yeah, Finally, Maybe I was mercifully so that was too Tim Hardaway Jr at 42 points, says the Mavs one in Detroit 1 15 1 of five With Luca out with a story elbow Kevin Durant and 42 in the Nets. 1 31 13 Win in Indy and Kevin Porter Jr Hung 50 on the Bucks, says the Rockets 11 43 1 36. Young has played just 46 seconds before twisting his ankle last night. The Cubs won again snapping their five game slide. 93 in Atlanta, the Dodgers lose again to one in Milwaukee. That's eight defeats in 11 outings, and the Penguins and Capitals are the latest teams to clinch playoff spots on ice. And if there's time should we get stunned? Yeah, let's get strong. It doesn't take much to surprise this bouncing baby boy. This is honestly the most stunned. I have ever been on the show to a news. The D a show is stunned to a news. So this one's courtesy of Robin of 321. We had a story a few weeks ago that a super overdue library book that was nothing. This overdue VHS tape was something when Karen Scarborough Davis went to Change her name on her driver's license that she had got married. She was told there was a problem and she should call the D A's office. Ah, woman there told Davis that she had a 21 year old felony warrant for embezzlement. Back in 1999. She allegedly rented episodes of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch from a video store. When the tape went on return charges were filed a warrant for her arrest issued in 2000. The store has been closed into old age. But the warrant lives on. Davis now sees clues about this in her life, saying she's had issues keeping jobs, which she assumes the background check showing the felony warrant was haunting her. She blames the missing tape on someone within her family. That didn't take it back because she says that.

"So let's go back to that Eagles Cowboys trade that made Sean angry for like seven seconds last night, Stephen Jones said it had been in the works for a few days. It is obvious they were trying to get in front the Giants and get the player they were after and really felt like that. You know, we would knew what they were going to take. They told us what side of the ball. And then I felt like we'd get through the Giants and still get our player and pick up a third round pick. The Eagles got Heisman winner Devante Smith account Boys then took Penn State linebacker Michael Parsons at 12 of the Giants gave number 11 of the Bears for next year's number one and Chicago took Ohio State QB Justin Fields. I believe Joe judges happy with what the Eagles and Cowboys did around his Giants. Trades happen A lot normal doesn't have within division, but hey, look, The enemy of my enemy is my friend. So you know, they made a move that worked for them. It was a good business move. The Giants ended up at number 20 and took Florida receiver Could Darius Tony. All of that happened after the Jaguars took Trevor Laurence. The Jets were with Zach Wilson and the Niners used number three entree lands and with fields in Chicago. Mack Jones available number 15 for the Patriots, Oregon Tak Open a school lasting until the Lions at seven as many expected, the Steelers win with Bama running back Nagy Harrison over 24. The Jags use the following pick on Lawrence's Clemson teammate. Running back, Travis eat yet And then there's Aaron Rodgers. He reportedly told some with the Packard organization he wants out. Green Bay has apparently sent Matt Leflore gm Brian Gouda Coons and President Mark Murphy on separate trips to California to talk to Rogers. The team says it has no intention Of trading him. Green Bay once again didn't go offense in around one, taking Georgia corner Eric Stokes instead in the NBA last night, Yana sprain an ankle in the first minute of a 1 43 1 36 loss in Houston. The Rockets getting 50 points from 20 year old Kevin Porter Jr the Nets won an indie 1 31 13, with Kevin Durant scoring 42. And the L. A Dodgers keep losing a 21 loss in Milwaukee last night. They have now dropped eight of 11 D a back to you. Thank you. Bogue's standing by for analysis of last night's NFL draft, he covered the NFL and the draft for CBS Sports and CBS Sports HQ. He also hear him as part of the Daily Football podcast. The pick six podcast. Joining us this morning on the show is our friend Ryan Wilson. Ryan. Good morning. Hey, How you doing, buddy? I'm good. Thanks. So much for joining us. Brighten early morning after the draft, we begin it. Number three. So why do you think the Niners played the smoke screen so well for the last month? It was crazy How well they smoke screen and it isn't today. Here's to take away. I've been saying this my buddies who probably from the outside looking in, I said, Here's what you have to understand The media in general don't have no idea what's going on because of into the day. There's no advantage for teams like Samson's going three T o sort of tip their hand. But I was convinced that it was gonna be Mack Jones a few days ago when she and hanging that final press conference where he talked about the end of the world on Sunday. We all may not be here, but he also sort of tried to prepare stand base. Okay. Just trust me. I know what I'm doing. And that sort of lend credence to the idea that he was going with the unpopular pick at least now before Dennis stance that it was going to be Mack Jones. But then, as you mentioned, the old switcheroo came in the salads, perception by media fans and trade. Lance was the pick. And, Yeah, I love the I love the moxie if you will. For example, in so doing this, because the I was talking to people throughout the whole process. Uh, take away was all the comeback would always be. This is Matt Mack Jones is the evolution and that the evolution is the quarterback that we know that couch handing and can win with because he's done it. Throughout his career. And obviously Matt Man dryness is the obvious example there when the shit when that field both Atlanta together That one of the guys I was talking to in the league said exactly that, and then he added it, but you just butt of Kyle. She had hand wants to continue with the evolution of the quarterback as we've seen in the last three or 45 years, with the Josh Allen's of Callum Murray's and the envelope Mark Jackson's Maybe he does go for a quarter quote, upgrade, like in terms of athleticism and arm strength and processing and all the other things that, uh, these quarterbacks would feel like they're made in a laboratory or doing and The only issue with Trey Lance. He hasn't played a ton of football. And you could say Well, neither smack Children that general just played played. Just this. Jews may start 17 against guys that we knew we were gonna be playing NFL. We don't know that about trade land. So this is going to respond. Extremely tow watch, gonna see arguably the best play caller. In the league. Kyle Shanahan. You could say Well, maybe some of the baby read. Now take a piece of clay. Um, maybe the most athletic piece of clothes never seen and making it into his own. So this is gonna be fun, but it was It was shocking that Max Jones wasn't the guy after what we heard over the last three weeks or so, if the Patriots didn't select Mack Jones at number 15 would he have been selected in the first round? That's a great question. I don't know if he was going to get past the Patriots. I do know they were thinking about trading up and they were pretty nervous when the Bears moved to 11, But if he gets past 15 I mean, the wildest of wild cards that have been the Raiders of 17. Because no one knows what they're doing, and their pick in the person confirmed this much. Maybe Washington considers it I don't know if the Steelers do or even the Saints. Those have been the most likely landing classless. A team traded back up in the first round. But you know, here's the thing D A we We thought it was gonna be match up to three. At least I did for the longest time. And now I wonder if this is Sam says there's a great fit for any quarterback, but I do wonder if the Patriots and Matt Jones, they want these conversations. We haven't fired 16 years by. Whoa. How did we let that happen? Like this is still sort of similar to what we saw, you know, so a lesser degree, perhaps, of what? We saw a comrade for two days. Tom Brady is 1/6 round pick. That's the entire league whiffed on him for six rounds. This is early. This is number 15. Overall. Here is Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports, and I was wondering about the Bears because Become a cottage industry to crush Ryan Pace and Matt Naggy and their quarterback decision making and the Bears constantly flailing to get a QB. And last night they were widely lauded for being aggressive and going to get Justin Fields of number 11. Did you think that was a smart and savvy move by the Bears? Yes. So I I love it. I love it on the surface. I love it for my long tortured bears friends who now have something to cling on to, besides a tweet from the organization that said, you know, six weeks ago that Andy don dark eveyone because that's you know, that's not how you get the same fan base excited. Here's my only concern. D eight. So you're taking just the fields and you mention Ryan Pace and the man Nicky have been up against it for a while, and let's be honest if they start slow..

Aaron Rodgers Matt Naggy Tom Brady Stephen Jones Kyle Shanahan Matt Jones Ryan Wilson Ryan Eric Stokes Kevin Durant Matt Leflore Trevor Laurence Ryan Pace Dennis Max Jones Trey Lance Mack Jones Zach Wilson L. A Dodgers California

"To the Packers and Bucks in just a second. There's a crazy story, though coming out so the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kevin Porter Jr now They picked him 30th last year. Young guy had some issues are like all sorts of, you know, it's personal stuff. It's arguments with people behind the scenes and in maturity and all these different things. The guy's the guy's been on a trip for being the league for just about a year. What They traded Kevin Porter Jr to Houston now in the NBA that protect picks right. So if the pick is let's say it's top 10 protected. That means if your pick is in the top 10, and it's supposed to get traded well, then you get to keep the pick because it's protected in the top 10. So the deal is you get to keep it. And whatever parts. Other parts of the deal happened. Those go through well. They deal this guy Kevin Porter Jr and When Cleveland trades him What they got back was a protected Top 55 pick Now you might say, Well, Vince it I mean, top 55. Yeah, There's a lot of picks in the draft. No, there's 60 picks in the draft. There's 60. They traded this guy Kevin Porter Jr for a top 55 protected pick. Which is all it's it's the N B, a equivalent of literally giving the guy away. I mean, they literally gave this kid a weighs 20 years old. They wanted nothing to do with him. And here's how bad this story is with Kevin Porter Jr. This is nuts. Okay, there's the statement from the GM of the Cavaliers. Kobe Altman. And I want you to pay attention to the language in this statement, okay? Quote. Given the culture and environment we have work to cultivate here in Cleveland. We feel this move is in everyone's best interest Kevin as a bright career ahead of him as a professional basketball player, and At his core. Is a good person. Oh, my God. What a day Having terrible statement to release like that is the meanest thing Like, you know, Fern, absurdly fed person. They're very elegant on the dense. Well, it's like what is that? It's like it's such a It's not even a backhanded compliment. It's like an outright slap in the face. It's just said pleasantly with a smile like it's crazy. It's just so disrespectful and clearly this guy tanked the stock. I mean, it's just Wow. Um what a start to the career for Kevin Porter Jr. You hope that kid figures it out. Clearly, he's got a lot to work on. Uh, we'll get to the Chiefs of the Packers of the seconds. Go to David, Who's in Green Bay? David, what's going on? Events. Good morning morning. Yeah, man. Good to hear your voice, Some not commit a couple of great points regarding the earthy enemy thing, And I want to make a comment on that. And compared it and then make my little packer pick. Yeah, I'll give you the quick update out doing some Work here this morning. On my side Hustle. It is 26 degrees and stone like a mole flowing Green Bay. It is will and stop before the game. But other than that, it's come to Jesus for Rogers. He got what he wants. We got the home game here and If turnovers don't impact the game. And we're able to at least take care of the line of scrimmage. Honestly, we were going to be in the Super Bowl. Um, other than that, I like to be enemies thing. And, you know, I'd like to comparative who knows what anybody's gonna do? Hey, what? Three months ago? Who was this, Clint? You earned your spot. You got the shot. You're on the spot. You're on CBS Sports Talk radio. Are you going to be the next Dan Patrick or Jim Rome? We don't know. You got your shot, brother. You're doing a great job. Lovett. Keep listening. Go, Pat. Go. Thanks so much. Yeah, David, I appreciate it, man. I will tell you now I am not the next. And Patrick. That is definitely not what this is. I mean, I'd love to get paid like him. I'd love a full time show like that. But for now, you know, I'm doing weekend overnight, So I'm making the most of it, But, yeah, I like you. Just You just don't know what the coach until they actually get the gig. Sometimes guys get the job and they fail. It takes him a second time. That's just It's an inexact science. There's so many things on paper, the feel good about a coach and then the guy gets the job and he sucks at it. Or a guy that everybody says is Underqualified ends up being really good. Like Andy Reid was a quarterback coach in Green Bay. He basically begged to get the job. If I remember this correctly, like he drove out, or, you know, I'm not gonna bore you with all that. But anyway, friend for Andy Reid to get that job's a quarterback coach was like shocking. And you know, he goes to four honesty championship games with the Eagles or goes to five eventually, and then goes to the Chiefs and wins the Super Bowl. Like he's one of the best coaches in the league. He's one of the best coaches the league has ever seen. So That's a guy that nobody thought was gonna necessarily mount. Anything is a questionable hire A head scratcher. So you just You never know. With this stuff. You feel certain way and you got to see how it plays out, so we'll see with the enemy when he eventually gets a gig. It's got to happen soon. S o. Let's talk about the Packers in the box here because the game one being in Lambeau And having it This level of cold is certainly a factor, right when you spend all your time. I mean, I'll tell you like for me. I'm in the Northeast right now. I'm doing the show. The show is in New York. I am actually sitting here in New York doing the show, so Drive in. It's like a 40 minute drive. I got the heat on. I've got gloves on. And by the time I get here, and I get out of the car, my hand goes like instantly numb just instantly. I've just got a little bit like a circulation problem or something. But my finger like my middle finger was just pale white and it hurt like hell. And it was miserable and I hate being in the cold like it sucks. I'm just I'm not used to it so much anymore. It's like generally kind of warm in the winters in the Northeast Now, all the sudden, which is not not great, but that's for another time. Um, and it just sucks being the cold. I'm not happy when I'm out in the cold. I don't function the same when I'm in the cold, so For Tampa being a team that is naturally warm all the time. You know, I've talked to people in in Florida recently. The light. God's terrible. It's 60. You know, it's like, OK, so how we gonna do in 26 degrees? I don't know. It's historically It hasn't been great for the bucks. We'll see how it goes. But that's something that's clearly In the Packers favor. That's something they've wanted. They played for it. They got it. And now here's your chance. Here's the other thing, too. When you're looking at this game, you talk a lot about pressure on Brady and sure that's certainly a big part of the equation. But really, it's the deep ball. Like Bruce Arians. That's what he wants to do. Right. Mike Evans. That's what he's great at all this receiving talent being able to get down the field, open up space underneath for Scotty Miller and the running backs like you want that deep ball. And for Tom Brady. It's not a sure thing. Which is not surprising. The guy's 43 years old, he's 43..

"Again today that's there again. Com slash office there again. Com. All right, so welcome and Keith. How are you doing, man? I'm doing good, man. Yeah, it's you said trade season hasn't even really officially opened. It doesn't actually open for about another two weeks of February 6th is one all the guys who signed them off season can be moved and in that that's usually when trade season opens. That's the equivalent of December 15th in a in a normal NBA calendar. But yeah, we saw the Hardin deal another trade last night, you know agreed to Kevin Porter Jr. I know we're going to talk about that and just a minute here. But yeah, we've got all sorts of sorts of stuff going on and I've got some thoughts when we get into why you took such as this pains me to say we may not see a very active trade season. Don't say hey. Yeah. I know killer right? Mr. Wet blanket, but yeah, well we talked about em, but you want to get into the recent transactions first and then we'll talk to a recent transactions will get into that and you want to let me say this at least at least we've got some new Marvel stuff going on Thursday. I've got a Heritage got one division happening. So we at least got that to occupy his just in case it's not a busy trade season, but you're right. There's already some happening around the NBA. You mentioned the Kevin Porter Jr. Thing off. That was what a protected second round pick from the Houston Rockets do the Cavs in exchange for Kevin Porter Jr. Had some issues in the locker room was not pleased that his locker was given away. Some Choice words were said things were thrown not a great situation. But now he is a Houston Rocket. What is it about Cleveland and throwing it in the laws of the JR Smith through was it off swollen Super Bowl super tight? Tyloo. I think it was if I remember correctly, or maybe it was David Blatt or somebody it was a coach or memories over bullet super coach. Come on. Hey, maybe they need better Foods. They're not throwing it around the locker room. Maybe that's the the issue there. Yeah, you know Kevin Porter Jr. So here's what's going on with him in the offing. Reason for the Cavs remember they were not one of the teams that was part of the restart. So they had the long offseason. They were you know mid-march to all the way up until teams kind of reconvened in late November early December. So so for him what we saw was he got in a little bit of trouble off the court a lot of those charges were dismissed or wiped away or whatever term you want to use their so but the Cavs basically said are we going to get you back on track and he had some problems at USC to which that's what caused him to fall to the end of the first round and if you remember Cleveland bought that pic from Detroit just bought it for cash, which is not something you see usually happen to draft Porter. They also a condition of buying that pic in agreeing to draft quarter. They got him to agree to take less than the hundred and 20% amount of the rookie scale for the first round pick it only took 80% in the birth. Which which is so we just specify.

"Despite the morning that shooting will go on with Hank Aaron 86 years on this earth made a difference succeeded the highest level. Was able to mix this very, very difficult to find combination off transcendent success and talent and transcendent, successful graciousness like those Things don't usually happen in combination And what a what A what a life Well lived. I mean, what a what a wonderful life Well lived. All right, Andrea Bookish. I know it's a bit of Ah, you know that. That's um, somber news, but happy Friday to you, nonetheless, what's going on? Yeah, that is. It's the breaking news right now. Still processing. All of it from the baseball front of it adds to. I think the number is 10. Maybe it's only nine. But still it's a shockingly high number. Hall of Famers have passed away since 2020 began and I maybe there's been another stretch like this in history, But the last 13 14 months have been really hard on. Baseball history. Just Tom Lasorda recently to which is a lot and you know significant names, huge names that have crossed just outside of baseball to all sports. I mean, Hank Aaron is a legend across the board. On again. He passed away today at 86. Obviously, the home run record is the number one thing with him. But he still is the old time leader and R B I and total bases and his obviously is not playing a very, very long time and those numbers have stood The test of time so far, it obviously any more detail will pass along to you. As the morning progresses. We jump now to the NFL. The Buccaneers got themselves into Sunday's NFC title game by pouncing on four state turnovers last weekend. So Packers head coach Matt the floor wants his guys on their P's and Q's come Sunday. Bottom line. When you get in games like this, you can't beat yourself. You've got to be disciplined, so the penalty is always coming to play and a swell as turnovers. So we got to do a great job in those areas yesterday signed their former quarter Tre Monti Williams to their practice squad. He has already played this postseason for the Ravens. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, says Antonio Brown will be a game time decision Sunday. Because of last weekend's knee injury. The chief's injury report is due later today. It certainly sounds like Patrick Moore home is on target to play against the bills to straight practices of taking the majority of snaps in Casey. At the moment, Mahomes remains even concussion protocol. Now Sundays winners will play in front of 22,000 fans in the Super Bowl in Tampa. About 7500. Those fans will be vaccinated healthcare workers as the league honors Healthcare heroes Last season, Yonas beat out LeBron from VP and Anthony Davis for defensive player of the Year A D was asked if they had some extra motivation last night in Milwaukee. No, don't last season. Obviously no one. You know that brought it up. We talked about it. You know, our motivation was not lose on the road tonight and were able to get that car makers of 1 13 106 victory. Davis had 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks. LeBron scored a season high 34 the Jazz push their win streak to 71 29 1 18 over the pelicans. And the Knicks beat the Warriors 1 19 104. The Cavaliers reportedly trading last year's first round pick Kevin Porter Jr. To the Rockets. Porter hasn't played this season because of personal issues. He was around the team for the first time last Friday, saw that his locker had been given to Torrey Imprints who came over the James Harden trade and then got into a screaming match with team officials. College shoots forthright Diable, losing at home to Indiana last night. 81 69, Tennessee, Hiring Danny White away from you see, have to be there. A D. His first job is finding a new football coach after Jeremy Pruitt was fired amid recruiting violations. And speaking of those Notre Dame football Now on one year probation for a former assistants impermissible contact with linebackers Sevele. Small, too. Must be very good. Because Florida and Texas A and M also got in trouble for their recruitment of him, and none of them got him. Smalls is at Washington. Connor McGregor and Daniel Korea have made wait for tomorrow's You have see about in Abu Dhabi and hockey Last night, the King's rallied past the Avalanche for two for their first win of the season. Winnipeg, four out of a woman and the Bruins topped the Flyers. 54 in a shootout bill back to you. Bogus. Thank you. The Kevin Porter Jr thing I find so fascinating in part because just how different industries view Babers differently. You know, going up to your colleagues screaming at them being indignant, being disrespectful as I understand it in some some radio sports radio worlds is actually ah, fairly accepted approach for aspiring producers, but obviously in a In a Cavaliers locker room, you know? Not not not okay? You know, just you gotta shepherd your way through these sort of different approaches. Toc. Guess how How the world works. Bogus. Thank you. It is my pleasure. That was good stuff, dude. Um All right, so so we're going to get into I want to try to do this together. For me. There's a bit of paradox taking place in this coaching search. It is absurdity that Eric, The enemy doesn't have a job yet, and we have some insight on what respect they're done yesterday. He wanted one, and as I understand it was not one of the line. It would've taken line job was interesting. The line's job is not You know the idea that maybe didn't want it? Not true. So I want to talk about that, but But I'm also not willing to do this pile on Dan Campbell take his press conference out of context and assume that he and a vacuum is unworthy because and it's true, Eric. The enemy has been wronged. Both things are complicated, and we're going to talk about them together..

"The players coach which like yeah, and like I look I think that people listen to this podcast will know that like, I have an immense amount of respect for John Calipari and like have home I love the way that they run that program there like it is more players first than most programs. You'll see in college basketball. I do think he cares about wage and I also think he cares about like putting guys in the best position to succeed long-term for their NBA hopes, but like that was fucking Savage song. He's also been known to say that the best of the year is his draft night. So it's a national championship in draft night. But like you gotta at least give Coach Calipari credit for still going to back for his guys. I mean 2 weeks ago, they beat Vanderbilt and he said we need our fans absolutely support BJ. I don't know why anybody would just want to be nasty. If you want to be nasty be nasty to me. It's my fault. Don't be nice to him. You said some horns of everybody. Let let Devin asked you alone when Devin struggle know where to get on them are fans left alone to let him do his thing. Our fans have been been on BJ doing pretty good. They're not nasty. They're not trolls. That's not who they are off. So he's he's still supporting us guys. It's just I'm watching that Auburn game. It's just seems like he's overthinking it like there's a possession the second half. He's on the left wing. He catches the boss was a drive-and-kick. So he's on the left wing Jacob toppings in the corner The Defenders kind of splitting the two of them easily catching shoot obj Boston catch-and-shoot. He hesitates for a second. He takes a dribble in Defender commits to him. He passes the top-end who travels into turnover. It's just like he he can't get out of his head. It's it it made me think of I'm going straight nineties here. You've seen Happy Gilmore, right? Yes. I feel like BJ Boston has to find his happy place like he needs to lock himself in a room watch film himself in high school seed that, wiry Wings score see the consensus number for recruiting the country that was behind Katie Cunningham. Jalen green and Evan Mobley and just be who he is. It's just you can tell he's he's in his head a little bit. He's trying to get out of it and show a better flashes but look five points per game isn't going to get you moved up draft boards either. Yeah, and I mean this raises the question of life. Where would you take BJ Boston right now in NBA draft go man, put my back against the wall. I don't I'm going to cop out and say I don't know because again, we we discussed it a little bit like how much of shades of like the Messier little experiment experience in North Carolina. Do you see with VJ at Kentucky wage? I think it's worse really and I just as like a background know so you're dominated the Adidas circuit. There's all this talk about how well you played against Pros in the off season ends up averaging under ten points per game and under twenty minutes a clip goes 25th overall to Portland. He's not really playing a ton right now. He is with either a bad case of covet for what it's yeah. Yeah can injuries. Yeah. Yeah, but look like Nasir little it's January eighteen Nasir little package dropped twenty one on Elan. So like take that for what it's worth nineteen on Saint Francis. He had eleven against Texas. He had 14 against UCLA..

John Calipari Katie Cunningham Evan Mobley UCLA North Carolina Devin 25th 14 nineteen Jalen green eleven Adidas BJ Boston Jacob second half BJ 2 weeks ago five points two Nasir

"Pj. But i was not sunday certainly next week at some point in time. I mean he's obviously not going to be gone forever But but. I think we're starting to get into that window where it's like okay He he should be returning. I mean he's got a return negative tests. I mean that's just what has to happen until he does that I think it's how many negative test is is. I think it's shoe Until he returns those In a satisfactory manner then obviously he won't return so but if he's doing that and the negative tests are coming then. I would expect to see him in pretty short order. Now we'll We'll be staying tuned to that for sure. All right. how about on the other side chris. Golden state We we know at the start a season klay thompson which was a big hit to them. However you have steph curry. A couple of people doubted him and then boom he just takes off now. He's average in high point. Totals again. I would never go against that guy. The golden you know. They're a game over five hundred. They're trying to get back to the nba royalty that they once were. Tell us about goals state tonight. What are the nuggets. Have to do to beat. This team goes state warriors. It's interesting you know. They started off. Oh and soon they're six and then so you know they're starting to get things figured out a little bit you know th there are so many moving pieces and new players. They're in that situation. That have to learn what it is to play alongside y you know steph curry and draymond green and ultimately klay thompson as well. It's such a unique system that they run with all the with all the movement and the three hundred passes per game and the split cut action and all that kind of stuff. So it's not easy if you're if you're new to that situation and so i think what we've seen from golden state is just growing pains with a lot of players in the i mean You have kelly you re junior there. wiggins is a holdover a little bit of a holdover from last year But Damian lee who was actually one game This year is a guy that has to get integrated into all that. And so i mean there's just a number of of players there that have to get used to the system out You know first and foremost. Let's just stuff steph curry that that. If you're the nuggets you gotta find a way to slow down. And i think what we've seen from him Know in the past. And maybe to certain extent the season when he's not scoring thirty Is that you know if if you stay in if you close down the space and just contest all the shots maybe you can force them into evacuating night. I mean there i mean. He's he's put a couple of those on the board already so you know. I think it's not unreasonable. It's it's a little bit different than kevin durant. It's like all right. Well we'll just going to contest the shot and just hope sued mrs. because he's the ultimate offensive weapon I think steph curry. He's by and large going to knock in a bunch of three point shots. But you can really. You can expect it if you do everything you know perfectly that. Maybe you'll catch him on a night where his is just not falling so you gotta slow him down a little bit and then you know i kelly oubre as a player that can get away from you as the nuggets well from his Couple of games against phoenix last year. Andrew wiggins is a player that that can put high points on what he doesn't do it all the time and maybe even most of the time but he has the ability to pop in a good game. I'm form as well and then the nuggets will get their first look at james. Wiseman who. I think has been really really a nice addition to that basketball team so talented basketball team. Not not the overwhelming talent that you've seen from the golden state in the past. the nuggets. Still have to come and bring your a game if they expected. Either team here tonight before we let you go. Chris the the news of yesterday right. James harden trade. I tried to to go through that and memorized the the deals that went through on that fourteen. And it's ridiculous bottom line. Is this the way i'm saying. It is james harden is now with the nets the rest of it. You can google and figure out. Yeah yeah. I mean it's You know he got his wish. You know you know that's all you gotta do is just be and and Smack your teams in the media. You too can be gone he was brooklyn. Obviously you know just put themselves on the short they already were of we So many thought that they would just be getting to the finals anyway But now what they look like immediately is a team that if. You're the lakers. Now you have now said you. Now you're sitting up and taking notice go. You know you're like oh okay it can. This team is that. Is that enough for for them to really You know give a real fight if that's the actual final and so Yeah it's it's definitely good for brooklyn i it. It's very rare that i can look you. Look across the landscape of all the teams that got stuff And say you know. They all actually made out pretty well. I mean i mean houston obviously the biggest loser because you lose the best player But but the but the return hurt. And the i mean that is huge And then to be able to get a good look. Victor oladipo in your program. That's that's a big deal and if you don't if you don't want to Have them on the program. Then he he's He'll be a next season you can go. I'm curious to avert. Indiana is going to be a indiana's already very formidable basketball team and he's going to really add to that equation. And i really do like jared allen in cleveland. i mean you know. The they've got a lot of good young players with sexton in garland and kevin porter jr. and isaac koro. And now you just add your allen to that. And i just think that's an exciting team You know here in the next few years and so You know they're a little bit of something for everyone and the big prize going to the brooklyn nets now obviously look like of you know on the shortlist for but just not just final contenders but nba champions interesting chris to see how nash handles this. Though right because the i. I think we all say oh. Is there enough basketball's to go around. Especially if kyrie decides he wants to play basketball again you have three guys there that you know for better or worse they have an ego. They love the ball in their hands. That's when they're at their best and this isn't ashes first stint here. So i know you heard nash. What two weeks ago. So he didn't know where cairo's where he reached out didn't get any response so man talk about welcome to the nba head coach. This is going to be interesting. Me Will i mean when you have personalities like that and you know i mean james harden. I wonder how that will go. You know he. He wasn't a rock. The boat necessarily a rock the boat kind of player. She'll just these last few bribes when he when he really wanted to get out of houston. He was just going to do whatever he had to do to get out of houston and so maybe he comes back down to where you know to his His personality level which You know really. Like i said it wasn't a real rock. The boat kind of situation now is a different animal kevin. He's we're seeing how that's playing out right now. Kevin durant you don't need to be. He knows that he's going to get the ball. And he's the best player on the team was fun well with them. But i think if you're steve nash. The good thing is just you know kevin durant and Heart and has played together in the past and so they understand what that looks like harden wasn't quite he hasn't reached peak hardin powers yet But you know he still has a reference point as to what that that feels like on the court with kevin durant. So you know they'll get that sorted out. I don't think it's gonna look very smooth. Maybe for a few weeks but the you know the good thing for them. You're so overwhelmingly talented that they can just put together. Maybe some clunkers and still win the came. Anyway because there's just that much talent on the court but you make a good Give points even now. She's going to have his hands full in terms of eagle management. A little bit Especially with kyrie and then You know how do you distribute the ball the basketball and maybe You know those three can can get it sorted out amongst themselves as well. Yeah that's it's always must see tv to me. I i love it. I know it gets overwhelming. Sometimes people don't like the movement in the nba. but hey we'll see the nuggets. Stay in the course for the most part with their core will see if they can. They can turn it around a little bit. Get a win streak going chris. What time does cover star for you guys tonight. What the coverage so. We don't have the game tonight. So it's Oh yeah. tnt exclusive tonight. So I know. Scott hastings will be doing the radio call with 'cause they're on on on Ninety five Altitude radio and then we will be back with you on sunday When they take on the utah jazz and so blue that game start see so coverage would start at five at that point in time so Yeah i'll sit back and watch the game along with everybody else in the living room. Join me man. that's what i'll be doing. I don't if they don't have to look good like you guys do all the time. So it's kind of fun chris. Appreciate you as always my friend. And see if i can get back to five hundred real quick here tonight. Yeah it would be nice. We'll see we'll see let's just cover fingers hope picket man. There's chris dempsey ball ball tonight. So i think think he's gonna start. That makes sense. I was ranting raving about it yesterday but i get what chris says you start bobo. Even though he's not in the rotation really you start him that we don't have to mess up your bench and are in the bench for denver. Aside from defense has been the biggest issue that we're talking about here. Chris saying maybe sunday we see mpg. He was also the guy said he wasn't going to go against the mavericks two weeks ago when we heard otherwise last week so attentive leave our nuggets insider and chris dempsey thirty nine minutes after the hour. Cove actually ready thursday night special. I'm owen one to start the year a don't feel good about that But i feel great about this pick tonight. So we'll we'll get to that coming up next first.
