"Hate the idea of you. Know maybe going to minnesota and trying to get the de ngelo russell malea beasley jaden mcdaniels package or something along along those lines. Where you're getting. You know three or four guys that can play for you in in the play. Awesome be high quality starters. You know that's that's direction. They need to go. But we'll see how long barrymore's willing to wait and try to drum up some sort of market for anson competition. I mean i think teams are going to be eager to low ball the sixers right and try to steal for you. Know twenty cents on a dollar now. The report says philadelphia settings interest all star. Ben simmons will not report for opening a training camp and intends to never play another game for the franchise. I mean that's directly toward you. Seems locked in hasn't spoken to the team since late. August meeting So just a very fascinating battle here in one that will be a big storyline for the rest of the league in the future league in terms of you know how much play how how much players can control their own destiny. And does darrow. Mauri have feel like some big responsibility here to try to control the situation. It's gonna be interesting to see training camp open soon and this obviously is probably the biggest now drama story in the league Yeah any other any other. Talk talk on his ben simmons. I mean this can be. It's going to be story going forward and you know it seems like a domino. That has to fall so we will get some somewhat of a fun trade with an all-star moving jeans hopefully sometime pretty soon. Do you make a trade for john wall i. I don't seeming that. be pretty low value. I don't think. I don't think they would stoop that low. I mean john wall is someone who the upside is high. If he's healthy. But we're talking about houston having to give up a first round. Pick to move off the amount of money that john wall. Oh i mean that'd be very low return for for. Maybe it's john wall and you know christian woods going to a third team and bringing in more or you get you know maybe kevin porter jr. i don't know that you know something like that and maybe more interested in a throwing it out there. I mean john you see rockets. We talked to allies pod that they're going to be working towards deal so i you know that kind of came to mind but you know again. It'll be an interesting week as we get into training camp starting next week. I think we'll get it more and more news about this. Ben simmons situation and I think the might be on if you let the pressure is on and it's not on for the sixers front office right because they we talked about the contract is still there. We have over there trade. That can be worked out in. And we can the sixers. And ben simmons and johnny go their separate ways crazy. How much transformation. The six hundred franchises undergone and go from the process to the process finally working. And you look like you have this sick team with simmons butler radic tobias joel embiid. I mean i think there are a lot of people thought that was like perfectly constructed championship contender with they brought..

"Basically before this. So here's the question that i'm grappling west. Let's save the clippers. Have a home game against a middle of the road. Like the pacers or the bulls. Next year do you think they win. That game a home game yashar and then if they have a home game against let's say like the dallas mavericks. Do you think they win that game. That's really a toss up. Because then i guess this means it's a good line like that's kind of where i was like okay. I think they should be able to handle the decent teams. When they're healthy are healthy ish. I mean forty five wins though in the end. That's probably pretty low. That's just a low number. Like paul george is still really good player. They have good depth So here let's break this down. Try one more way to this. I'd say offensively. I'd still maybe have of the top half the league just barely you know. Kind of the twelve to fifteen range and defensively at. It could be a little bit better. Did they be kind of the lower end of the top ten like. I think that's really going to be. The question is like how are they going to defend this year. I think zoo bots is an underrated rim-protector they can do some switching. They've got some depth So yeah i mean. I guess i will go with the over still Yeah the they'll also want to be pushing towards the end like to avoid the in that's going to be another thing too. Is that teams in that. Forty five win type. Range are gonna put upward pressure right in that range to avoid the plan sedate. You let something funny. I was looking for the last team that was will end of the top. Ten offense are defensively and middle of the road offensively. it was the The one thousand nine hundred twenty oklahoma city thunder. When paul chris paul was there and they had differential forty six team. So this is right and lied. Yeah okay so we're both over them. Yeah i guess so. I don't feel great about it. But i i think i feel good enough to not switch houston rockets. Twenty five and a half. And i don't think we need to spend a lot of time in this one at least from my perspective. I'm going under here. I was more conflicted on this before. The reporting which i believe was not reflected in the line. We're using from shunned from from athletic. That john wall is not going to play for them this year. Now they'll try to do a trade or something else like that but part of the conflict for me would change things much for me anyway. Honestly i mean but the rocket. Yeah exactly and for me. The rockets would've changed i. It's just a quality player and replace him with somebody who's worse than john wall in all likelihood but for me. It's the organizational pressure. Is that the rockets. They have young guys. They you know they have these four first round picks that they're probably going to try to play all four of them meaningful minutes but then they also have other young dudes including of their pick as won't including kevin porter. They have their own pick. They're all these huge levers that are going in that are going in the same direction and that is you know it's these next two years. The houston definitely has their own first round. Pick at least as of now I guess they technically have the right to swap next year with the nets. They're not going to do that. And so they have these young guys they maybe. They'll try to rehab. Eric gordon value a little bit. And so they're trying to be good and that's even more now than it was before and they you know. Young guys are generally pretty bad at defense. They were better off. I have them as the worst defense annoy. Yeah they'll definitely be in. That conversation will be in the conversation for the worst offense in the league and so teams like that teams like that typically lose a bunch of games. Yeah i think you're starting with them as the worst defense in the league and then offensively you remember. They just couldn't shoot it all last year. And i don't know of kristen would plays a little bit more. Maybe that that helps them on. Offense your can kevin porter. Jr. is he gonna like actually produce efficiently or is he going to. Just tantalize a little bit. I would make a slight prediction here and i. It's been a long time. Since i've done this but the last time i did it is this was i wanna say this. I can't even remember if it was before they had played a game together. But i just said it felt like there was something between joel. Embiid ben simmons where like. It was going to end poorly. It just felt that way. I don't know from a chemistry standpoint or a an on-court chemistry standpoint but obviously that's been the case you know even though embiid is like tried to say something nice on twitter you know clearly. That relationship doesn't seem to amazing at this point in time and the encore religion was amazing. I don't see kevin porter jr. jalen green ending well like i don't i don't see a future and maybe it'll be wrong about this but i just think. Kpmg is is to bottle and to ball dominant. I don't think that he in june green are gonna play well together You know. I think jalen green is going to be better than him. He's going to need to have the ball more. Kp pj doesn't seem to like be particularly stable as well so But for right now those two guys apparently gonna start the back and they feel so strongly about. They don't even want john wall playing at all. Because they want the kevin junior to be given the keys to the franchise and it's going to be a little weird when like imported juniors may be taken more shots this year. The joe ingredient that. That's an aside. That doesn't really have much to do with their over under this year. But i don't think that kpmg or green is going to be able to be particularly efficient. I don't see erik gordon playing much for this team. He'll probably get moved in your house. To probably gonna get moved shit daniel taste when he got moved Or market should would depending yacht. You know i mean would that could be interesting to We'll be extension eligible next offseason but may be looking for a bigger deal than the max extension that they could offer him. There's gonna be a lot of people trying to get. There's on this team and they don't really have anyone who can make your shot like didn't fix that particularly either so i think to be pre three point shooting team again. They just don't have any real like spot. they have guys who can shoot threes. But no one who you're gonna throw it to and you're like oh that's a bucket right so i mean unless you're talking about. Dj augustyn is probably their best shooter at this point time and one other point. I like to think about this. Sometimes young teams like there are a lot of ways for this rockies to be successful by their standards where they win twenty five or fewer games and jalen green light jalen green could look like he will be a good future player without helping the rockets win games. Right now could be the same story with christopher garuba I think he's going to have a better season than say anthony edwards did last year. I i am hopeful that that is also the case but edwards also a lot more talent around him By the end of the year. The with this houston team is going to have so i. If there were these healthy baby they could go over But starting with the worst defense in the league It doesn't really seem like a great place to begin for for an over And i think it's going to be dom between them and and okay see the worst..

"What was? You know super interesting for the for the Rockets. If you look at their they're just roster. She we think of this team, as you know, got a job Want you young guys, and all these guys who are signed a rookie scale deals. If one Kevin Porter, Jr. All their other young guys were second-round picks undrafted players or guys that they signed as free agents. So, so I'll take that is, you know, just something that kinda keep in mind. This team may not be quite quite as young as you know. I think some some people think, I mean, particularly when they're in a full rebuild, we tend to think they're very young team. Maybe they've got a little bit but but again I love what they did on draft night. I'm a big fan of of and I keep going back cuz I'm just a big fan of Guru but because I am a sucker for guys who can make the right reads on the defensive end of the floor Time After Time After Time and you know, consistently, they're going to put themselves in the right spot at the right time and that's exactly what gruba can do. And when the other guys like Porter would green, those are offensive leading, guys. So I like his fit with those guys and Schengen that's a nice fit long-term Houston. Rockets question, coming in here. What are they doing John Wall now? I mean he is going to be he doesn't fit on this roster, that's for sure. Yeah, going Well, no contract is untradeable. We've seen Russell Westbrook. Get traded out three times. So yeah, for time for three it's three times three days on his fourth. Yeah yeah yeah. On his fourth package. Yeah. Yeah. Which is oddly enough he's played for more teams than Kevin Durant. Yeah..

"That's pretty good to take whatever the best defense in the league. But why all these guys and you've put so much work into making this big board. The one last question wanna ask you is what that process looked came out. Great and i'm curious as to what that look i mean obviously i know you're passionate before this benami. Everyone knows might seem that. You put all his efforts to bay board how that'll take shape What would that process look like. Yeah so i think for me like this is my first year covering the rockets. Just in general i mean. I've always been a fan. I've always done analytics. Projects on the side by as my minor at syracuse always watched games league pass on that stuff like i never really dove into into the value. Add part of it though of just like creating content once the rockets sucked which like hasn't been a thing for me in in my like time as a rockets fan. I mean we had like oh nine through twelve ten years old. I wasn't going to do anything at that time. And i love. Kevin martin aaron brooks so like i was. I wasn't upset about any of that but this year. The rockets weren't good so dove into the draft law I think it started with the g. League a win the drive. My timeline correct. I mean i watched like march madness and stuff like that scouted for march madness. 'cause i was around the same time as sbc draft academy with me and you both did that but in the as well. Because the rockets down kevin porter jr. engage a martin watching them and i started watching the night loved. Jalen green loved loved isaiah todd. Dacian knicks is cool. Like all four of them were very very fun to watch. And i was like okay. Lemme like really dive into this draft. And kinda see like all these other guys because if dacian knicks is not a guy that should get drafted by some for some people like who are these other. Is you know or if like isaiah tie in like jonathan coming. I'm like oh man like there's all this like awesome talent coming into the league star watching law like a lot more really only had really paid attention to acc because the syracuse and also i would just watch ut games and my university houston game. So i knew players. I didn't really know like who's coming into the draft and who's in what draft class and stuff like that by kind new players then once. I really like dove into it. Started watching film star watching. You know even though like you. I b l. game from like years back watching old interviews workouts. Whatever i love the process. It was a lot of me just sitting where i am right now looking at my computer a lot of headaches and long nights and slamming my keyboard going. This is hard because it is. It's such a hard process..

"So we'll see what the next year happens or what happens next year before i start critiquing but eighteen points per game against grown men grown men eighteen years old playing against guys. Who you gotta remember. Almost everybody in the g. league at one point was the best player on their college team or the second best player on the college. A lot of the guys in the g. league played in the nba for a good amount huge. A lot of them like are better than a lot of the guys in the ncaa and better than a good amount of the guys in this draft and jalen green averaged eighteen four and three while one every single game having a target on his back. Because a lot of these guys see him. Jonathan coming isaiah. Todd dacian nixon and go these. We beat them so we can get our way back into the league. So you have a target on your back. Every single game to again grown men grown men like guys who have had strength and conditioning camps the nba like multiple multiple years of professional experience and then on top of that having a share the ball with three other prospects who all needed like their time off. Like the whole point of the ignite was like showcase. These guys sort of you had to split all of that like on a college team. You're probably the number one guy. All four of them probably the number one number two guy on whatever college seemed to go to like now you kind of get delegated and you kind of get lost in the mix. I think that's what happened with. Dacian knicks that rhyme. But i think that's also kind of what happened with isaiah. Todd who fingers crossed is a rocket by the end of the night. But i think. I think what jalen green did and the g. league is extremely underrated. I really like him. I think he's one of the better scores in this league. I wouldn't be surprised if he's like twenty five guy twenty five five and five guy within like a couple of years like an all star appearance by year. Three is not out of the questions for me. And so i like him. I think that him and kevin porter jr. going to be a great pairing from fair good amount of years but other scores in this draft. James book night out of yukon dynamic. Scorers probably one of the best players at the rim one of the most athletic guys in the draft extremely extremely quick and he plays like every dude from new york city like he plays straight out of the crazy handles will break soon ankles in the nba. Like he's going to be a lot of fun to watch some questions about his defense. But i think he's like so quick and so long is going to be a really good point of attack defender. I think the biggest thing is just about like walking in off ball. Which is you know. Focus is the biggest part for a lot of these is like whenever i was making my big board. Look and it'd be like oh weakness like he doesn't he's not very wear. Oh he's not very well..

"Be something and the reality is like by the time ago. Goodness and so i think best fit available. Hannah works the other way where it's not is the player a fit or like what you're doing it's do you have the ability to fit that player into the birds. Yeah that's and that's how. I feel like teams probably and i'm sure they do but i feel like it's something that gets forgotten. A lotta is like the end of the day. I think team should draft a guy that they can develop the best also be able to use them in their team but like for example with an orlando. I know a lot of people have giddy going to five eight and my opinion. I don't see that as a good fit or good idea. Just because they have all these guys who already need the ball in their hands to be able to create. I mean markelle folds have coal anthony. You have guys. Rj hampton even jonathan. Isaac who you know brought the ball up a lot for orlando. It's it's kind of you know a little gets little overcrowded. And especially when. You're young team like that. I do agree to the sense of the guys on your roster released but you know orlando specifically that's You know three lottery. Picks i just named and another one who is top twenty. Those guys are looking to develop for the future and so it gets overcrowded. And so like for example. What the rockets right now. I know there's people saying like. Oh you know kevin porter jr. being there shouldn't really matter but kevin junior is our lottery. Pick in a way you know. He was such a thirty and probably should have gone thirty. If there wasn't the attitude problems And so he's he's the lottery. Pick that we're developing so you don't really want to hinder his his progression. Even though i don't think drafting jalen greenwood hinder progression. If that is what happens. But i do. I do think that.

"Something on. Then he's hand in hand on the beach. She looked like Tom Hanks from cast away a little bit. On my nipples. Hopefully you're safe out there beat. Oh, and we look forward to your inevitable hopefully inevitable return and climb a tower you this afternoon? What a great day it is. What a beautiful day to go out there. No, I had a good good weekend Fun weekend didn't get any golf in but Great Saturday to our show with Verne Lundquist was on the 15th floor. Yeah. What's up with her? Nice police headed out today. Toe video in the PGA Championship. CBS. He's doing a couple hours every day for CBS Kiwis 80 years old now and still Still going after and full of a lot of stories. We had a good time with him and just, you know, relaxing day. Got it Some exercise this morning, but looking forward to try to get you to explain and explain why this is a good thing. This MBA plane is I think it's the stupidest thing I have. Ever heard. What's wrong with letting in the 18 from each division and just start the playoffs? I'm not necessarily. I'm not the one to convince you that it's a good thing. But yes, But first of all, the NBA regular season is over on now there's just 2.5 more months of playoffs, And then that'll be a an MBA season in the books, But yeah s o the plane tournament. Let me tell you how, because a lot of people probably don't understand how it works. I understand, But I just don't like it because it's not a tournament necessarily. But The six Excuse me. The 789 10 seeds from each conference are in what they're calling the play in tournament seven plays eight with the winner of that game automatically is in the playoffs. They're the 17. Okay, give me some Deal in the East Boston seven, and Washington is eight. Indiana is nine and Charlotte is 10 right, So Boston and the Wizards are going to play each other tomorrow night on the winner is automatically and will be the seven seed and they'll take on the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. So congratulations to the winner of that game. Then the nine seed in the 10 see the Pacers and Hornets. They play each other. And the loser is out. End of season Turks and Caicos. Here we come the winner, though the winner then plays the loser of the 78 matchup. The one we just mentioned with the winner of that game, then being the eight seed and they would play the Philadelphia 76 year, Same thing. Different teams in the West closer closer to home. Why do you not like the play in tournaments because I don't really like it either, but I like it the way they had it where the top eight teams would square off on the playoffs would begin. I just like that, now closer to home. Lakers are seven clip and warriors or eight they play Wednesday night winner is in loser will play the winner of Memphis and San Antonio. Correct? Yes, So even if you lose, so even if LeBron in the Laker lose on Wednesday, right that they they're not out. It is not the nightmare scenario. In fact, this is, as I said several times last week, probably a dream scenario for the MBA and that you're going to get a Steph Curry LeBron James one game playoff to be the seven seed to get into the playoffs. But if The LeBron were to lose, which is would not be great for the league and to a lesser extent, Steph Curry and the Warriors. They're not out. They have the chance to beat the winner of Spurs Grizzlies Ross Day and now the reason they did this. It started last year pandemic season that they finished in the bubble because the league was basically saying, Hey, we understand it's not fair. We're cutting the season short. Some of you teams were just get cured A rounding into form, they might. You might even call it the Zion Williamson playing tournament because they wanted to get the pelicans in on, so they had it a year ago. Keeps so many more teams in the race later in the season. I suppose you could say it's reducing tanking. It is not. This is not eliminated. Tanking. Congratulations, Houston, Texas Houston Rockets. By the way, you want 17 games, you officially had the worst record in all of basketball 17 games. I could name Kevin Porter Jr. And that's it. I don't know any other players on the Houston Rockets that, Yeah, that guy. The idea is it supposed to eliminate tanking and create more interesting games late in the season? I think I heard Jalen Rose say yesterday, the last day of the regular season that there's 20 teams that will advance past that day, and they were still 17 slots that had not been Cliched if you live, you know a lot of those air seeding, but for I mean for them like they're trying to say that there's all these games that matter now that didn't wouldn't have mattered before. I'm like, Actually, a lot of them would have mattered, maybe would have mattered more because some of these teams you know, would like Memphis, I believe lost yesterday. But had they would have had to win to get in the playoffs. Now they're in this play in tournament where they play the Spurs right at home right, which in Memphis, the Spurs Craig Popovich called in sick for game as he should he should he should. He should. He should have what I guess I mess it. Schoening at the half of that game, Saturday's game, they're down by like 27 at the half there in the on the precipice of the playoffs. It's crunch time of the season. And Gregg Popovich is like I'm not coming. I'm gonna go see Tim Duncan get inducted, which he should let he did that he should. Yeah, but another thing that you had yesterday, the last day of the season that is, I mean, this is not related to the plane tournament, but Teams are tanking, furred proceeding purposes, the Clippers, the cutters, Lipper's sat their entire starting lineup. Go wipe all Joe. All of their guys did not play because they wanted to move out of the three seed down to the forcing. They lost Okla. They lost the Oklahoma City one of the worst teams in the league on It makes absolute sense for them because the Lakers right they they'll play the Mavericks now a rematch of exciting serious from a year ago. He didn't want any part of the Lakers. Yeah, they won't have to play the Lakers until Oh, the Western Conference finals. Should it come up that direction? There you go. That's the That's your your your play in your day and moment Preview. Yeah, but it's gonna be compelling. I believe to see the warriors in the Lakers because I think Steph Curry sure is the m V P of the league this year. That is very incorrect and elements, but I think he is. You know what? We'll talk more on that We'll take the win the scoring title he did when he won this. That's all that judge's team came in eighth place, never eat or some of the most valuable player and he's the most valuable player on a mediocre team. We'll have more on that. Let's talk about these class and I want to talk about the NBA Hall of Fame inductions as well. Excuse me, the basketball Hall of things just the MBA. Eyes, my man, Tim Duncan, As I told you crushed it.

"H iwin dot com The first thing we didn't know about Round one last night was the Niners plans for number three. They went with Trey Lance, not Mack Jones or Justin Fields Lands told Westwood one the found out basically when we did Probably about two minutes before you guys did on TV. Yeah, again. Just feel super blessed that they did that made those sacrifices for all the Mack Jones rumors. Predraft Kyle Shanahan says that came from outside the organization. And ever since then, I've kind of just watched every single person assume that that was accurate and that those weren't opinions. Those were facts and we don't feel that way from the beginning. I wanted, it said. There's no chance we want enough. We're gonna go to this process and we wanted I would never said it couldn't have ended up with his Lance In the end. The Niners also answered Aaron Rodgers questions last night with GM John Lynch, confirming he called Green Bay but was rebuffed immediately. GM Brian Gouda kun says they're not trading Rogers anywhere. With Rogers reportedly so fed up with the organization that he wants out. That drama ran side by side with the picks last night after Trevor Laurence to the Jags and Zach Wilson to the Jets and then Lance, the Falcons use number four on Florida tied and Kyle pits. The Bangles, then went with Ellis, you receiver Jamaar Chase. The Dolphins followed with Bama, receiver Jim and Waddle and the Lions picked Oregon tackle Panay Sul. No draft had ever started with seven consecutive pick from the same side of the ball in all 18 offensive players. Selected last night, one shy of the old time mark that 18 included the Bears trading with the Giants for number 11 to take Ohio State QB Justin Fields and Mack Jones lasting until the Patriots at 15. After passing on Fields and Jones last night. The Panthers have picked up their fifth year option on Sam Donaldson's No guaranteed $18.9 million. For 2022. Vintage Kevin Durant last night in the Nets, 1, 31 13 Women Indy 42 points and 10 assists for head coach Steve Nash. Very, very impressive. I mean, you look at his line Could I say I got the luxury of coaching Kevin Durant and stick him in the game, and Hardaway Jr also scored 42 last night is the Mavs one in Dallas 1 15 1 of five with Lucas sitting out with a sore elbow and Kevin Porter Jr put 50 on the Bucks in the Rockets. 1 43 1 36 when Johannes left after 46 seconds After twisting an ankle, the Dodgers losing in Milwaukee to one, they've dropped eight of 11, the Cubs and 93 win in Atlanta, and the Rangers beat the Red Sox for one. Some college football news This morning. Kansas has hired Buffaloes Lance Leopold to replace Les Miles Leopold is a two time Mac coach of the year. His bowls made three consecutive bowl games. And the Pittsburgh Penguins in the postseason for the 15th consecutive year. They clinch with last night's 54 OT win over the cabs to also claim their spot, but for just the seventh season in a row Go back to you, My very tall friend Andrew, Bogus and Andrew. Bogus on Twitter. Thank you, buddy. We will talk to you in an hour. Your bogus reference to talk about it. Let's get into Aaron Rodgers and the unlikable reality that his self absorption, at least as it relates to how he's conducted himself at critical points of his team season in the NFL schedule doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if he's the bad guy, or if I'm totally misreading this, and he's just playing power politics because he can. The only distinction that matters is he's an old world talent who is still capable of being the bastard one of the best quarterbacks in a game to find by quarterback play and the Green Bay Packers and the idiot to run it better start to figure it out. We'll dive into that next here on CBS Sports Radio. As the cove in 19 vaccines become available, You may be asking yourself Should I get it? Will it help me get back to doing the things I love like meeting friends or traveling? And can I do it.

"To the Packers and Bucks in just a second. There's a crazy story, though coming out so the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Kevin Porter Jr now They picked him 30th last year. Young guy had some issues are like all sorts of, you know, it's personal stuff. It's arguments with people behind the scenes and in maturity and all these different things. The guy's the guy's been on a trip for being the league for just about a year. What They traded Kevin Porter Jr to Houston now in the NBA that protect picks right. So if the pick is let's say it's top 10 protected. That means if your pick is in the top 10, and it's supposed to get traded well, then you get to keep the pick because it's protected in the top 10. So the deal is you get to keep it. And whatever parts. Other parts of the deal happened. Those go through well. They deal this guy Kevin Porter Jr and When Cleveland trades him What they got back was a protected Top 55 pick Now you might say, Well, Vince it I mean, top 55. Yeah, There's a lot of picks in the draft. No, there's 60 picks in the draft. There's 60. They traded this guy Kevin Porter Jr for a top 55 protected pick. Which is all it's it's the N B, a equivalent of literally giving the guy away. I mean, they literally gave this kid a weighs 20 years old. They wanted nothing to do with him. And here's how bad this story is with Kevin Porter Jr. This is nuts. Okay, there's the statement from the GM of the Cavaliers. Kobe Altman. And I want you to pay attention to the language in this statement, okay? Quote. Given the culture and environment we have work to cultivate here in Cleveland. We feel this move is in everyone's best interest Kevin as a bright career ahead of him as a professional basketball player, and At his core. Is a good person. Oh, my God. What a day Having terrible statement to release like that is the meanest thing Like, you know, Fern, absurdly fed person. They're very elegant on the dense. Well, it's like what is that? It's like it's such a It's not even a backhanded compliment. It's like an outright slap in the face. It's just said pleasantly with a smile like it's crazy. It's just so disrespectful and clearly this guy tanked the stock. I mean, it's just Wow. Um what a start to the career for Kevin Porter Jr. You hope that kid figures it out. Clearly, he's got a lot to work on. Uh, we'll get to the Chiefs of the Packers of the seconds. Go to David, Who's in Green Bay? David, what's going on? Events. Good morning morning. Yeah, man. Good to hear your voice, Some not commit a couple of great points regarding the earthy enemy thing, And I want to make a comment on that. And compared it and then make my little packer pick. Yeah, I'll give you the quick update out doing some Work here this morning. On my side Hustle. It is 26 degrees and stone like a mole flowing Green Bay. It is will and stop before the game. But other than that, it's come to Jesus for Rogers. He got what he wants. We got the home game here and If turnovers don't impact the game. And we're able to at least take care of the line of scrimmage. Honestly, we were going to be in the Super Bowl. Um, other than that, I like to be enemies thing. And, you know, I'd like to comparative who knows what anybody's gonna do? Hey, what? Three months ago? Who was this, Clint? You earned your spot. You got the shot. You're on the spot. You're on CBS Sports Talk radio. Are you going to be the next Dan Patrick or Jim Rome? We don't know. You got your shot, brother. You're doing a great job. Lovett. Keep listening. Go, Pat. Go. Thanks so much. Yeah, David, I appreciate it, man. I will tell you now I am not the next. And Patrick. That is definitely not what this is. I mean, I'd love to get paid like him. I'd love a full time show like that. But for now, you know, I'm doing weekend overnight, So I'm making the most of it, But, yeah, I like you. Just You just don't know what the coach until they actually get the gig. Sometimes guys get the job and they fail. It takes him a second time. That's just It's an inexact science. There's so many things on paper, the feel good about a coach and then the guy gets the job and he sucks at it. Or a guy that everybody says is Underqualified ends up being really good. Like Andy Reid was a quarterback coach in Green Bay. He basically begged to get the job. If I remember this correctly, like he drove out, or, you know, I'm not gonna bore you with all that. But anyway, friend for Andy Reid to get that job's a quarterback coach was like shocking. And you know, he goes to four honesty championship games with the Eagles or goes to five eventually, and then goes to the Chiefs and wins the Super Bowl. Like he's one of the best coaches in the league. He's one of the best coaches the league has ever seen. So That's a guy that nobody thought was gonna necessarily mount. Anything is a questionable hire A head scratcher. So you just You never know. With this stuff. You feel certain way and you got to see how it plays out, so we'll see with the enemy when he eventually gets a gig. It's got to happen soon. S o. Let's talk about the Packers in the box here because the game one being in Lambeau And having it This level of cold is certainly a factor, right when you spend all your time. I mean, I'll tell you like for me. I'm in the Northeast right now. I'm doing the show. The show is in New York. I am actually sitting here in New York doing the show, so Drive in. It's like a 40 minute drive. I got the heat on. I've got gloves on. And by the time I get here, and I get out of the car, my hand goes like instantly numb just instantly. I've just got a little bit like a circulation problem or something. But my finger like my middle finger was just pale white and it hurt like hell. And it was miserable and I hate being in the cold like it sucks. I'm just I'm not used to it so much anymore. It's like generally kind of warm in the winters in the Northeast Now, all the sudden, which is not not great, but that's for another time. Um, and it just sucks being the cold. I'm not happy when I'm out in the cold. I don't function the same when I'm in the cold, so For Tampa being a team that is naturally warm all the time. You know, I've talked to people in in Florida recently. The light. God's terrible. It's 60. You know, it's like, OK, so how we gonna do in 26 degrees? I don't know. It's historically It hasn't been great for the bucks. We'll see how it goes. But that's something that's clearly In the Packers favor. That's something they've wanted. They played for it. They got it. And now here's your chance. Here's the other thing, too. When you're looking at this game, you talk a lot about pressure on Brady and sure that's certainly a big part of the equation. But really, it's the deep ball. Like Bruce Arians. That's what he wants to do. Right. Mike Evans. That's what he's great at all this receiving talent being able to get down the field, open up space underneath for Scotty Miller and the running backs like you want that deep ball. And for Tom Brady. It's not a sure thing. Which is not surprising. The guy's 43 years old, he's 43..

"Despite the morning that shooting will go on with Hank Aaron 86 years on this earth made a difference succeeded the highest level. Was able to mix this very, very difficult to find combination off transcendent success and talent and transcendent, successful graciousness like those Things don't usually happen in combination And what a what A what a life Well lived. I mean, what a what a wonderful life Well lived. All right, Andrea Bookish. I know it's a bit of Ah, you know that. That's um, somber news, but happy Friday to you, nonetheless, what's going on? Yeah, that is. It's the breaking news right now. Still processing. All of it from the baseball front of it adds to. I think the number is 10. Maybe it's only nine. But still it's a shockingly high number. Hall of Famers have passed away since 2020 began and I maybe there's been another stretch like this in history, But the last 13 14 months have been really hard on. Baseball history. Just Tom Lasorda recently to which is a lot and you know significant names, huge names that have crossed just outside of baseball to all sports. I mean, Hank Aaron is a legend across the board. On again. He passed away today at 86. Obviously, the home run record is the number one thing with him. But he still is the old time leader and R B I and total bases and his obviously is not playing a very, very long time and those numbers have stood The test of time so far, it obviously any more detail will pass along to you. As the morning progresses. We jump now to the NFL. The Buccaneers got themselves into Sunday's NFC title game by pouncing on four state turnovers last weekend. So Packers head coach Matt the floor wants his guys on their P's and Q's come Sunday. Bottom line. When you get in games like this, you can't beat yourself. You've got to be disciplined, so the penalty is always coming to play and a swell as turnovers. So we got to do a great job in those areas yesterday signed their former quarter Tre Monti Williams to their practice squad. He has already played this postseason for the Ravens. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, says Antonio Brown will be a game time decision Sunday. Because of last weekend's knee injury. The chief's injury report is due later today. It certainly sounds like Patrick Moore home is on target to play against the bills to straight practices of taking the majority of snaps in Casey. At the moment, Mahomes remains even concussion protocol. Now Sundays winners will play in front of 22,000 fans in the Super Bowl in Tampa. About 7500. Those fans will be vaccinated healthcare workers as the league honors Healthcare heroes Last season, Yonas beat out LeBron from VP and Anthony Davis for defensive player of the Year A D was asked if they had some extra motivation last night in Milwaukee. No, don't last season. Obviously no one. You know that brought it up. We talked about it. You know, our motivation was not lose on the road tonight and were able to get that car makers of 1 13 106 victory. Davis had 18 points, nine rebounds, six assists and two blocks. LeBron scored a season high 34 the Jazz push their win streak to 71 29 1 18 over the pelicans. And the Knicks beat the Warriors 1 19 104. The Cavaliers reportedly trading last year's first round pick Kevin Porter Jr. To the Rockets. Porter hasn't played this season because of personal issues. He was around the team for the first time last Friday, saw that his locker had been given to Torrey Imprints who came over the James Harden trade and then got into a screaming match with team officials. College shoots forthright Diable, losing at home to Indiana last night. 81 69, Tennessee, Hiring Danny White away from you see, have to be there. A D. His first job is finding a new football coach after Jeremy Pruitt was fired amid recruiting violations. And speaking of those Notre Dame football Now on one year probation for a former assistants impermissible contact with linebackers Sevele. Small, too. Must be very good. Because Florida and Texas A and M also got in trouble for their recruitment of him, and none of them got him. Smalls is at Washington. Connor McGregor and Daniel Korea have made wait for tomorrow's You have see about in Abu Dhabi and hockey Last night, the King's rallied past the Avalanche for two for their first win of the season. Winnipeg, four out of a woman and the Bruins topped the Flyers. 54 in a shootout bill back to you. Bogus. Thank you. The Kevin Porter Jr thing I find so fascinating in part because just how different industries view Babers differently. You know, going up to your colleagues screaming at them being indignant, being disrespectful as I understand it in some some radio sports radio worlds is actually ah, fairly accepted approach for aspiring producers, but obviously in a In a Cavaliers locker room, you know? Not not not okay? You know, just you gotta shepherd your way through these sort of different approaches. Toc. Guess how How the world works. Bogus. Thank you. It is my pleasure. That was good stuff, dude. Um All right, so so we're going to get into I want to try to do this together. For me. There's a bit of paradox taking place in this coaching search. It is absurdity that Eric, The enemy doesn't have a job yet, and we have some insight on what respect they're done yesterday. He wanted one, and as I understand it was not one of the line. It would've taken line job was interesting. The line's job is not You know the idea that maybe didn't want it? Not true. So I want to talk about that, but But I'm also not willing to do this pile on Dan Campbell take his press conference out of context and assume that he and a vacuum is unworthy because and it's true, Eric. The enemy has been wronged. Both things are complicated, and we're going to talk about them together..

"Ask me to these kids for nineteen years old the veterans who will show them kind of like these tricks of the trade and Brian Shaw has really heaped the compliments on him saying he wants to be great. He wants to work. He's figuring out he's he's getting better with his feet. He's getting better with trying to slow the game down. It's gonna be I opening though because I also want to sugarcoat it like that team got beat up by a team of like G League team to like realities coming at him. Like I don't know in the bubble what their their records going to be you're going to see some good stretches, but I don't know how many games are necessarily going to win. If you're leaning on these guys cause I'm kind of assuming that they're going to go winless to be honest. You need one win, right? Yeah, like maybe they win a game but like it's going to be tough. Like they have two guys that we think are like a shovel players right now. Yeah, two two plus. Yeah. Well and the other thing is to like they filled out this roster with NBA guys. They yeah, they they yeah, they stacked the deck a little bit. But I also not to be conspiracy facts, but I think the NBA wants us to work though, too. Yeah, it costs. It costs a lot of money that usually bubbles expensive. It's allegedly like five hundred thousand dollars per team entry fee. There's only 17 wage is doing it the rest off that out there the 18th, you mentioned it way back that the whole thing is like an estimated ten million dollars. Is this pathway worth it for the next round of guys wage in Pro like you then be the ones that look like it was successful thing. Right? Like they have Amir Johnson. They have Dante Hall who was in the NBA last year. They have Gerogia. Hopefully you can provide some minutes. They've branded Ashley who you know is big and can shoot a little bit Bobby Brown if you've ever gone down to UCLA..

"First? Let's talk when I go to jail and read first. Yes, so you and I both talked to a lot of NBA teams. They've had taped from scrimmages for this Julie ignite team and what the impression I've gotten from them is the commingled looked the best in the scrimmage jail and gray looks like he will have zero problems. Athletically with the link will be one of the best athletes in the league and we'll need to like prove that he can be efficient imitation Knicks just looked terrible out for lack of a better word. Does that kind of line up with what you have heard? I have actually seen the scrimmage. Okay, so there we go. So it doesn't line. You're right. Yeah. So for Jalen green, I thought that he looked taller a little bit taller a little bit leaner everything that we thought he was he did lightning quick First Step getting off the floor of beating his man redirect his body really well based on what the defense is giving him. He's using screens and and slowing them down which can tell is a point of emphasis for Brian Shaw on that staff, which is good. He can hit movement shots. He's learning to limit his dribbles and and not just pull the ball out and and run 25-foot isos close out. Well the shooters defensively but the thing that stuck out to me right now is he does float and drift way too much. Like I didn't watch that. If you didn't know his Jam inquiry into watching it you wouldn't necessarily say like Surefire top three guy. You can see the talent you can see the the flashes of it, but he didn't take over enough despite. I think he had 20 points in in one of the scrimmages. I don't know it's a byproduct wage. Of days or Nixon him just trying to figure out how to play this two-man game or not, but it wasn't like it wasn't like a statement game where we saw a Jalen Suggs have 27 points. It's like, oh man. This is a tough choice. No question. So yeah, that that's kind of always been the concern for me with Jalen green like whenever I've seen him on the AAU circuit. It's been holyshit. This guy is a ridiculous wage unbelievable athlete he can get wherever he wants on the court and he just doesn't make great decisions. Once he decides to do that. Like he takes a lot of contested shots at The Rim that off Peters doesn't show like a crazy amount of crafts with right like it's more like jumping and then trying to figure it out as opposed to like having a plan before you go in the air. Like that's what I thought of in Mitchell like really improved throughout the course of his career is whenever he was in like his first year and half at Louisville. He didn't really have a plan when he got in the air and then later in these long career and then early in his NBA career he figured out okay. I'm this crazy athlete but if I stay on the ground and force guys to figure out wage How to maneuver around me and make them make the decision first I can make this happen. I can have a better chance of scoring efficiently other than I was With Jalen green I would just like to see him be a little bit more thoughtful in what he does like before he gets to where he's trying to go and that'll come back. I'm right like right like that that comes with experience that comes with the time that you have to take to improve your talent, right? Yeah..

"Exactly. Yeah, like I'm not exaggerating when I say like Cherie phone number is probably the best guard in terms of vision and ball-handling that I've evaluated since Trae young like his shiftiness his change of pace off. Like every single dribble move that he has like he keeps that ball on a fucking string the cross the cross over from left to right between the legs into an alley, oop, which he's done multiple times. It's just like unheard of its unseen. I mean you mean that you made you made a joke a few weeks ago when Jalen Suggs through that like full court with English pass that the guy missed the layup that like put him in Hogwarts School Wizard and I made the joke that like sharife Cooper is working on his resume to do the same cuz he does 5 to 6 to 10 plays a game where it's like, I don't know how he did that especially his through traffic woke over whatever a couple of six ten guys, right like the shit the kitchen to with the ball is just unbelievable and wage. Because he's just a non-shooter right now. Like I feel like that shot does not look great coming out of his hand. He's confident with it, which gives me some hope like I think that confidence is a big part of potential to improve as a shooter like your willingness to take them is really important. There is a chance that he can really improve the shooter but like right now, She's not really a shooter. No, not at all. It just completely closes down all of those angles at the NBA level. If you're a non-shooter like you have to do so much damage to create a shot and like you have to really fuck with guys to create your own shot. If you're that little and you can't really shoot wage thing that makes Trae young so good is that he is one of the best passers in the NBA one of the best ball-handlers in the NBA has a floater game and contribute like Sharif has definitely each of those four things. I think he is a little bit of a floater game, but if you can't shoot and guys just go under your ball screens, like it just becomes immensely immensely difficult to really make things happen. Like I think he's the first round pick I feel good about saying that like, I would I'll probably have him somewhere 15 to 25 right now off. He has Lottery upside if he can show us upside with the jump shot. But for now, like I feel most comfortable saying that he's a solid first-round pick girls could be a starting guard but like the downside is back up Gard with sharife Cooper just because and we haven't even talked about defense yet. I mean, he's been in look like again, he doesn't really know what like this game is kind of like you said. Hey, I was just kind of running around like he's yeah, he's even kind of like giving up on like screens occasionally too in a way. That's scary. Yeah, he's not been very good defensively either but off. Yeah, that's just numbers will fool you a little bit cuz he does have two steals per game but that's kind of like he's one of those lies exactly. Yeah and and it's like almost 10 assists but 4.7 turn off so it's hard right now, and I know that and we'll get there eventually like that late ish Lottery. There's not like a ton of of meat on the table..

"So Thursday at the reason why he didn't have picked numbers, North Carolina, but I'll pose you with this question then if your BJ Boston your your inner circle What's the move mean? Do you do stay in you fight it out. Do you declare and try to play pro? Do you try to do this? One-time transfer thing? Like what's kind of The Next Step? If if it stays on the same path next whatever 2 months season ends. Where do you go from here? Yeah, and for what it's worth like looking through BJ Boston's numbers. Like I realized that I should preface this as well. Like I know BJ's been in office figures the bunch and I just reach like back in like pulled out a bunch of Nasir little like double figures games this year a little had a p e r of twenty that year on Brandon Boston is at 12.8 wage right now, which is like disaster level for an NBA Prospect just to kind of put it in context again if I was In PJs here right now. I would probably say. I agree with you that like they need to find a way to like get him to his happy place. Right like they need to find what's going on there. Like it does look like he's lost a little bit of confidence Sprite and I think that that's the number one thing. We need to find a way to regain his confidence. Honestly, if I was him, I'd go back to Kentucky right now based off of what we've seen so far. I would go back to Kentucky and supportive coach right like we can criticize coach Calipari and say we want but he's seemingly been with them every step of the way and it wasn't like a Ricochet Ricochet shot or anything, but he said kind of after the game somebody asked him. Like why wasn't Dante Allen play more as like I didn't shoot the ball like he had some open looks and shoot him playing field and shoot and shut the flip side is kind of saying, you know still be patient with with BJ and then order if a kid's heart out, I don't know it's all over the place, but it does if you boil it down, it seems like coach Calipari is behind him. Yeah, like I think that if I was like I would say go back we've seen like these guys in the past that they've been propped up by lofty off mock draft standings, right and then they enter the draft because they're still high on draft boards in March and then the bottom falls out once they get into work outs and stuff and they end up going undrafted. Right? We've seen that like the the classic one is one that's actually worked out positively to me. Do you remember crashing would and like his situation? Yeah. No, I remember the iconic photo draft night of him with his his hands on his face. And you know, there was a story that circulated last week that it's like ex girlfriend left him that night and had to talk to her since and now he's, you know throwing Jabs at at shacks and he's a casual fan after having a great game..

"The players coach which like yeah, and like I look I think that people listen to this podcast will know that like, I have an immense amount of respect for John Calipari and like have home I love the way that they run that program there like it is more players first than most programs. You'll see in college basketball. I do think he cares about wage and I also think he cares about like putting guys in the best position to succeed long-term for their NBA hopes, but like that was fucking Savage song. He's also been known to say that the best of the year is his draft night. So it's a national championship in draft night. But like you gotta at least give Coach Calipari credit for still going to back for his guys. I mean 2 weeks ago, they beat Vanderbilt and he said we need our fans absolutely support BJ. I don't know why anybody would just want to be nasty. If you want to be nasty be nasty to me. It's my fault. Don't be nice to him. You said some horns of everybody. Let let Devin asked you alone when Devin struggle know where to get on them are fans left alone to let him do his thing. Our fans have been been on BJ doing pretty good. They're not nasty. They're not trolls. That's not who they are off. So he's he's still supporting us guys. It's just I'm watching that Auburn game. It's just seems like he's overthinking it like there's a possession the second half. He's on the left wing. He catches the boss was a drive-and-kick. So he's on the left wing Jacob toppings in the corner The Defenders kind of splitting the two of them easily catching shoot obj Boston catch-and-shoot. He hesitates for a second. He takes a dribble in Defender commits to him. He passes the top-end who travels into turnover. It's just like he he can't get out of his head. It's it it made me think of I'm going straight nineties here. You've seen Happy Gilmore, right? Yes. I feel like BJ Boston has to find his happy place like he needs to lock himself in a room watch film himself in high school seed that, wiry Wings score see the consensus number for recruiting the country that was behind Katie Cunningham. Jalen green and Evan Mobley and just be who he is. It's just you can tell he's he's in his head a little bit. He's trying to get out of it and show a better flashes but look five points per game isn't going to get you moved up draft boards either. Yeah, and I mean this raises the question of life. Where would you take BJ Boston right now in NBA draft go man, put my back against the wall. I don't I'm going to cop out and say I don't know because again, we we discussed it a little bit like how much of shades of like the Messier little experiment experience in North Carolina. Do you see with VJ at Kentucky wage? I think it's worse really and I just as like a background know so you're dominated the Adidas circuit. There's all this talk about how well you played against Pros in the off season ends up averaging under ten points per game and under twenty minutes a clip goes 25th overall to Portland. He's not really playing a ton right now. He is with either a bad case of covet for what it's yeah. Yeah can injuries. Yeah. Yeah, but look like Nasir little it's January eighteen Nasir little package dropped twenty one on Elan. So like take that for what it's worth nineteen on Saint Francis. He had eleven against Texas. "Today on the show at Penney's in the building. We're going to talk a little bit about the Kevin Porter situation, which has devolved into food fighting. We're going to talk about sharife Cooper. We're going to talk a little bit about BJ Boston and then on top of it, we're going to preview the G League game tonight team and kind of give you guys a rundown on Jonathan kuminga Jalen Greene station Knicks and maybe even talk a little bit about Isaiah. Todd probably won't talk a lot about Guys Auto Thursday. We don't really think cassata was a real NBA Prospect do we met now? We're not there. No. No, you're not good Kya size and can shoot a little bit but we're not there yet multiple months to year G league night team member in all likelihood. So Penny, how you doing, man? I'm fantastic. I just want to start by saying I feel like I'm a freshman on campus wondering until like one of those hundred person lecture halls and I just want to make sure this is the right class like this is the the draft. I didn't wander into like a a cricket game theory podcast based on your tweets. I'm like all in on Cricket. I didn't want to get you going but it was too easy to be like a nice treat him watching playoff games and you're talking about guys hitting home runs and Cricket. I have no idea you're saying well and like the Home Run is like not even the terminology and I'm just like calling them here already a cricket snob people off our hours and excuse me, it's not no. No, I'm like the anti crickets knob like my American addled brain is just like oh this guy's going yard and like I watched a guy named Rick ball out of a stadium last night and I have never felt more alive in my life. You know, can I go you gotta watch more Big 12 basketball, I guess. Yeah. Clearly. I don't know like where the Dead. Ends about my excitement for Cricket and like my actual level of excitement for Cricket begins, but I can't I can't really figure that out yet. I think I've like gone too deep into the Wormhole of it being like something of a bit and now I'm just like on the other side and I just like kind of love Cricket. Now, this is your personal Westworld like you don't know where the song ends the simulation ends in real life begins or lost. Yeah. This is where I'm at and I've picked up the Indian national team the Indian cricket team as my favorite team because the Australians are kind of snooty and snobby not that was quick quick scouting assessment. You took your basketball teachings and applied that within again two or three viewings. Yeah. Yeah, it's great and like the cricket announcers will be the last point. I have faith like the cricket announcers will get so much angrier when a guy does well and then like gets out versus like when he just like gets out. So like there was a guy who gave birth Like over a hundred runs, which is like basically scoring like Fifty points in an NBA game, right? This guy gets a hundred runs and he gets out and there's like, oh this was a terrible wouldn't put an awful game. It's just like what are you kidding me? This was amazing. This was super fun or what are we watching? We watching the same thing, which is the same channel. Yeah. Yep. It's just bizarre like the the whole of the whole of cricket announcing and like Cricket is a sport is a different world to me that I'm very interested to continue to dive into off. Another world that I want to dive into is the world of Kevin Porter, huh?.
