Next year do you think they win. That game a home game yashar and then if they have a home game against let's say like the dallas mavericks. Do you think they win that game. That's really a toss up. Because then i guess this means it's a good line like that's kind of where i was like okay. I think they should be able to handle the decent teams. When they're healthy are healthy ish. I mean forty five wins though in the end. That's probably pretty low. That's just a low number. Like paul george is still really good player. They have good depth So here let's break this down. Try one more way to this. I'd say offensively. I'd still maybe have of the top half the league just barely you know. Kind of the twelve to fifteen range and defensively at. It could be a little bit better. Did they be kind of the lower end of the top ten like. I think that's really going to be. The question is like how are they going to defend this year. I think zoo bots is an underrated rim-protector they can do some switching. They've got some depth So yeah i mean. I guess i will go with the over still Yeah the they'll also want to be pushing towards the end like to avoid the in that's going to be another thing too. Is that teams in that. Forty five win type. Young guys are generally pretty bad at defense. They were better off. I have them as the worst defense annoy. Yeah they'll definitely be in. That conversation will be in the conversation for the worst offense in the league and so teams like that teams like that typically lose a bunch of games. Yeah i think you're starting with them as the worst defense in the league and then offensively you remember. They just couldn't shoot it all last year. Sometimes young teams like there are a lot of ways for this rockies to be successful by their standards where they win twenty five or fewer games and jalen green light jalen green could look like he will be a good future player without helping the rockets win games. Right now could be the same story with christopher garuba I think he's going to have a better season than say anthony edwards did last year. I i am hopeful that that is also the case but edwards also a lot more talent around him By the end of the year. The with this houston team is going to have so i. If there were these healthy baby they could go over But starting with the worst defense in the league It doesn't really seem like a great place to begin for for an over And i think it's going to be dom between them and and okay see the worst..

She we think of this team, as you know, got a job Want you young guys, and all these guys who are signed a rookie scale deals. If one Kevin Porter, Jr. All their other young guys were second-round picks undrafted players or guys that they signed as free agents. So, so I'll take that is, you know, just something that kinda keep in mind. This team may not be quite quite as young as you know. I think some some people think, I mean, particularly when they're in a full rebuild, we tend to think they're very young team. Maybe they've got a little bit but but again I love what they did on draft night. I'm a big fan of of and I keep going back cuz I'm just a big fan of Guru but because I am a sucker for guys who can make the right reads on the defensive end of the floor Time After Time After Time and you know, consistently, they're going to put themselves in the right spot at the right time and that's exactly what gruba can do. And when the other guys like Porter would green, those are offensive leading, guys. So I like his fit with those guys and Schengen that's a nice fit long-term Houston. Rockets question, coming in here. What are they doing John Wall now? I mean he is going to be he doesn't fit on this roster, that's for sure. Yeah, going Well, no contract is untradeable. The one last question wanna ask you is what that process looked came out. Great and i'm curious as to what that look i mean obviously i know you're passionate before this benami. Everyone knows might seem that. You put all his efforts to bay board how that'll take shape What would that process look like. Yeah so i think for me like this is my first year covering the rockets. Just in general i mean. I've always been a fan. I've always done analytics. Projects on the side by as my minor at syracuse always watched games league pass on that stuff like i never really dove into into the value. Add part of it though of just like creating content once the rockets sucked which like hasn't been a thing for me in in my like time as a rockets fan. I mean we had like oh nine through twelve ten years old. I wasn't going to do anything at that time. And i love. Kevin martin aaron brooks so like i was. I wasn't upset about any of that but this year. The rockets weren't good so dove into the draft law I think it started with the g. League a win the drive. My timeline correct. I mean i watched like march madness and stuff like that scouted for march madness. 'cause i was around the same time as sbc draft academy with me and you both did that but in the as well. Because the rockets down kevin porter jr. engage a martin watching them and i started watching the night loved. Jalen green loved loved isaiah todd. Dacian knicks is cool. Like all four of them were very very fun to watch. And i was like okay. Lemme like really dive into this draft. And kinda see like all these other guys because if dacian knicks is not a guy that should get drafted by some for some people like who are these other. Is you know or if like isaiah tie in like jonathan coming. I'm like oh man like there's all this like awesome talent coming into the league star watching law like a lot more really only had really paid attention to acc because the syracuse and also i would just watch ut games and my university houston game. So i knew players. I didn't really know like who's coming into the draft and who's in what draft class and stuff like that by kind new players then once. I really like dove into it. Started watching film star watching. You know even though like you. I b l. game from like years back watching old interviews workouts. Whatever i love the process. It was a lot of me just sitting where i am right now looking at my computer a lot of headaches and long nights and slamming my keyboard going. This is hard because it is. It's such a hard process..

"So we'll see what the next year happens or what happens next year before i start critiquing but eighteen points per game against grown men grown men eighteen years old playing against guys. Who you gotta remember. Almost everybody in the g. league at one point was the best player on their college team or the second best player on the college. A lot of the guys in the g. league played in the nba for a good amount huge. A lot of them like are better than a lot of the guys in the ncaa and better than a good amount of the guys in this draft and jalen green averaged eighteen four and three while one every single game having a target on his back. Because a lot of these guys see him. Jonathan coming isaiah. Todd dacian nixon and go these. We beat them so we can get our way back into the league. So you have a target on your back. Every single game to again grown men grown men like guys who have had strength and conditioning camps the nba like multiple multiple years of professional experience and then on top of that having a share the ball with three other prospects who all needed like their time off. Like the whole point of the ignite was like showcase. These guys sort of you had to split all of that like on a college team. You're probably the number one guy. All four of them probably the number one number two guy on whatever college seemed to go to like now you kind of get delegated and you kind of get lost in the mix. I think that's what happened with. Dacian knicks that rhyme. But i think that's also kind of what happened with isaiah. Todd who fingers crossed is a rocket by the end of the night. But i think. I think what jalen green did and the g. league is extremely underrated. I really like him. I think he's one of the better scores in this league. I wouldn't be surprised if he's like twenty five guy twenty five five and five guy within like a couple of years like an all star appearance by year. Three is not out of the questions for me. And so i like him. I think that him and kevin porter jr. going to be a great pairing from fair good amount of years but other scores in this draft. James book night out of yukon dynamic. Scorers probably one of the best players at the rim one of the most athletic guys in the draft extremely extremely quick and he plays like every dude from new york city like he plays straight out of the crazy handles will break soon ankles in the nba. Like he's going to be a lot of fun to watch some questions about his defense. But i think he's like so quick and so long is going to be a really good point of attack defender. I think the biggest thing is just about like walking in off ball. Which is you know. Focus is the biggest part for a lot of these is like whenever i was making my big board. Hannah works the other way where it's not is the player a fit or like what you're doing it's do you have the ability to fit that player into the birds. Yeah that's and that's how. I feel like teams probably and i'm sure they do but i feel like it's something that gets forgotten. A lotta is like the end of the day. I think team should draft a guy that they can develop the best also be able to use them in their team but like for example with an orlando. I know a lot of people have giddy going to five eight and my opinion. I don't see that as a good fit or good idea. Just because they have all these guys who already need the ball in their hands to be able to create. I mean markelle folds have coal anthony. You have guys. Rj hampton even jonathan. Isaac who you know brought the ball up a lot for orlando. It's it's kind of you know a little gets little overcrowded. And especially when. You're young team like that. I do agree to the sense of the guys on your roster released but you know orlando specifically that's You know three lottery. Picks i just named and another one who is top twenty. Those guys are looking to develop for the future and so it gets overcrowded. And so like for example. What the rockets right now. I know there's people saying like. Oh you know kevin porter jr. being there shouldn't really matter but kevin junior is our lottery. Pick in a way you know. He was such a thirty and probably should have gone thirty. If there wasn't the attitude problems And so he's he's the lottery. Pick that we're developing so you don't really want to hinder his his progression. The guy's the guy's been on a trip for being the league for just about a year. What They traded Kevin Porter Jr to Houston now in the NBA that protect picks right. So if the pick is let's say it's top 10 protected. That means if your pick is in the top 10, and it's supposed to get traded well, then you get to keep the pick because it's protected in the top 10. So the deal is you get to keep it. And whatever parts. Other parts of the deal happened. Those go through well. They deal this guy Kevin Porter Jr and When Cleveland trades him What they got back was a protected Top 55 pick Now you might say, Well, Vince it I mean, top 55. Yeah, There's a lot of picks in the draft. No, there's 60 picks in the draft. There's 60. They traded this guy Kevin Porter Jr for a top 55 protected pick. He's using screens and and slowing them down which can tell is a point of emphasis for Brian Shaw on that staff, which is good. He can hit movement shots. He's learning to limit his dribbles and and not just pull the ball out and and run 25-foot isos close out. Well the shooters defensively but the thing that stuck out to me right now is he does float and drift way too much. Like I didn't watch that. If you didn't know his Jam inquiry into watching it you wouldn't necessarily say like Surefire top three guy. You can see the talent you can see the the flashes of it, but he didn't take over enough despite. I think he had 20 points in in one of the scrimmages. I don't know it's a byproduct wage. Of days or Nixon him just trying to figure out how to play this two-man game or not, but it wasn't like it wasn't like a statement game where we saw a Jalen Suggs have 27 points. It's like, oh man. This is a tough choice. No question. So yeah, that that's kind of always been the concern for me with Jalen green like whenever I've seen him on the AAU circuit. It's been holyshit. This guy is a ridiculous wage unbelievable athlete he can get wherever he wants on the court and he just doesn't make great decisions. Once he decides to do that. Like he takes a lot of contested shots at The Rim that off Peters doesn't show like a crazy amount of crafts with right like it's more like jumping and then trying to figure it out as opposed to like having a plan before you go in the air. Like that's what I thought of in Mitchell like really improved throughout the course of his career is whenever he was in like his first year and half at Louisville. He didn't really have a plan when he got in the air and then later in these long career and then early in his NBA career he figured out okay. I'm this crazy athlete but if I stay on the ground and force guys to figure out wage How to maneuver around me and make them make the decision first I can make this happen. I can have a better chance of scoring efficiently other than I was With Jalen green I would just like to see him be a little bit more thoughtful in what he does like before he gets to where he's trying to go and that'll come back. Because he's just a non-shooter right now. Like I feel like that shot does not look great coming out of his hand. He's confident with it, which gives me some hope like I think that confidence is a big part of potential to improve as a shooter like your willingness to take them is really important. There is a chance that he can really improve the shooter but like right now, She's not really a shooter. No, not at all. It just completely closes down all of those angles at the NBA level. If you're a non-shooter like you have to do so much damage to create a shot and like you have to really fuck with guys to create your own shot. If you're that little and you can't really shoot wage thing that makes Trae young so good is that he is one of the best passers in the NBA one of the best ball-handlers in the NBA has a floater game and contribute like Sharif has definitely each of those four things. I think he is a little bit of a floater game, but if you can't shoot and guys just go under your ball screens, like it just becomes immensely immensely difficult to really make things happen. Like I think he's the first round pick I feel good about saying that like, I would I'll probably have him somewhere 15 to 25 right now off. He has Lottery upside if he can show us upside with the jump shot. But for now, like I feel most comfortable saying that he's a solid first-round pick girls could be a starting guard but like the downside is back up Gard with sharife Cooper just because and we haven't even talked about defense yet. I mean, he's been in look like again, he doesn't really know what like this game is kind of like you said. Hey, I was just kind of running around like he's yeah, he's even kind of like giving up on like screens occasionally too in a way. That's scary. Yeah, he's not been very good defensively either but off.
