"Story I mean kids this weekend or global look ahead at the top stories for investors in the coming week I'm Bob moon in New York coming up a look at the agenda in Washington but first Canada's prime minister Justin Trudeau was forced to plead for patience as he dealt with blockades of rail lines across the country this week the disrupted shipments of everything from oil the passenger trains for more we go to Bloomberg Daniel vocals in Toronto thanks Bob rail traffic across Canada ground to a halt this week as protests against a natural gas pipeline in British Columbia stalled the flow of goods and created a crisis for the federal government Bloomberg's Kevin Orland joins me from Calgary Kevin thanks for coming on the show thanks for having me on the surface this is about one aboriginal community in BC which appears to be at odds even within itself over just one natural gas pipeline project how did things escalate so much further that's right so there is a group of the hereditary chief of the wet sweat and indigenous community in northern British Columbia that we had blockaded the coastal Gascoyne pipeline and stops workers from from building up pipeline is really this month a couple dozen of them were arrested for these blockades so that that those arrested by some fairly dramatic footage and other environmental groups and and activists around the country sort of took up at college and have been protesting in solidarity with the subs that within the the what the Latin tried and and how disruptive has all of this been economically so far both been pretty significant we have there is one estimate this week where economists pared back his forecast for economic growth for the fourth quarter but point three of a percentage point down to one point five percent of one point eight percent so it's significant and this is also still early it depends on how long this lasts yeah obviously major disruptions for cargo passenger trains have been affected you know a number of of business leaders have been warning that this could be a major black eye for Canada's international reputation and in terms of whether or not we're seen as a good place to invest and do business you are an ex Pat living in Canada what do you make of that assertion well it it's it's it's hard to imagine that this doesn't give some investors pause when they're looking with making decisions about whether to invest in Canada or or not you know already the energy industry here has been through some competitiveness challenges with opposition oil pipeline that's really prevented the the dentistry here from expanding output and that's because a lot of you know for companies to sell out of the oil oil industry here which at one point there was more than thirty billion and and the Canadian assets that were sold by foreign companies so it's hard to see how this would that help that situation for sure Kevin thank you very much that's what we're watching this week in commodities in Toronto I'm Daniel vocals all right thank you Danielle all right now let's head to or Bloomberg ninety nine one newsroom in Washington to see what items in politics and government are set to top the agenda next week and for that we bring in Amy Morris thank you Bob there is another democratic primary debate coming up this one in Charleston South Carolina plus South Carolina be holding its primary next week that's followed by super Tuesday on March third let's find out what we should be watching out for between now and then from Bloomberg U. S. politics editor Kathleen hunter Kathleen joins me now thanks so much for taking the time thanks for having me and we always want to start off with Joe Biden because he has called South Carolina his firewall I'm wondering if that assessment has changed at all what does the former vice president need to do or need to have happened to ensure he stays in the race well in short I think that anything short of a first place finish in South Carolina is going to be a challenging for the Biden campaign to defendants he is as you point out always pointed to South Carolina as a state in which he's expected to do very well and when his you know somewhat paltry finishes in early states were pointed out his campaign they always pointed to head to South Carolina and focused on that as a state in which they expect to do well because of the traction he's been showing with black and African American voters so it's coming in second or third then just simply not going to be enough he really he needs to take South Carolina well I think certainly you know a second a third place finish would be a lot more difficult to explain away and I think that particularly depends on which candidates you know if he does have that type of finish could which candidates finish ahead of him because his argument to it to the party has always been that he's the most electable and part of that argument is based on his appeal to African American voters and so because South Carolina has such a high African American population if we don't see that kind of turnout from African American voters in support of him particularly given that we know how important he's been pitching that support as being that I think that that really does become a lot more difficult for him to explain why he is the only candidate that can be done on comp which is really been at the heart of his campaign messaging thus far well it sounds almost like had he not been talking about South Carolina being his firewall it might not be as critical as it seems like it will be once people start going to the polling places well that's always the danger right like if you aren't doing well and you keep explaining away not doing well by saying well hold on hold on we never expected to do well here we always expected to do well in this other place then eventually that other place comes home to roost and that's kind of the point right now is you know if this is going to be a proving ground for Joe Biden or it's going to potentially be a graveyard so let's take a look at the upcoming debate that'll happen before the primary now we did see what happened in Las Vegas Warren came out swinging on Michael Bloomberg did not get very high marks and Sanders remains the front runner so how does that all set the table for South Carolina well I think that you know first of all we're gonna have another debate on Tuesday night and South Carolina and I think that you know with the expectations potentially have been you know lowered for Mike Bloomberg and that debate given his performance last week in Nevada however you know what that being said the explanation coming out of his campaign was you know okay okay this is first debate is still kind of getting his feet under him and so you know expect better things in the future so now much like with Joe Biden in South Carolina it's the you know the argument would be that it's time for him to deliver and put in a better performance than we have seen things like that happen in the past for instance even someone who is widely considered a very good debater Barack Obama put in a pretty poor performance at his first debate in the general election debates in twenty twelve against Mitt Romney and then came back with a very strong debate performance in the second general action debate that's certainly possible but I think that that's gonna be one thing that people are looking for in the debate in South Carolina I think also what you know Elizabeth Warren is someone else that people are going to be watching very closely she put in a very assertive can debate performance last week in Nevada and Las Vegas and so I think that people be seen what kind of tone she strikes this week heading into South Carolina and I think that you know another odd you know personal watch again would be by the South Carolina has always been as we've discussed a very big state for him in terms of the campaign topography that his odd that his outfit is laid out and so I think that he was someone that was somewhat overshadowed in the Las Vegas debate he can get a whole lot of air time and so I think whether he's able to kind of turn the tables on that in South Carolina I think it's going to be a big question and I want to take this opportunity to remind our audience that Michael Bloomberg is the founder and majority owner of Bloomberg LP that is the parent company of Bloomberg radio and Kathleen let's get back to that debate you you mentioned Warren coming out swinging in Vegas all was we're gonna be watching what she's going to be doing in South Carolina where does she stand in the polls in South Carolina is she getting the traction that she had hoped for well I think that over overall across the board Warren's campaign hasn't been getting the kind of traction that it's been seeking and I think that that is potentially very problematic for her campaign I think that the message that she sense implicitly in that Las Vegas debate is that you know I'm not going anywhere anytime soon and don't expect that and so but I think that you know eventually you know perhaps after super Tuesday the votes are gonna have to start materializing and if they don't then it's gonna be very difficult for her to continue I love it when you anticipate my next question I wondered if this is where we start to see a whittling down of the candidates I think that's true I think that you know we certainly will anticipate that perhaps because there isn't such a big gap this year between South Carolina and one super Tuesday occurs it's only a matter of a few days I wouldn't expect to see a lot of candidates you know kind of drop out in that in from because you know it doesn't take a whole lot to continue on through super Tuesday if you make it into South Carolina but then I would expect after super Tuesday to see perhaps a dramatic winnowing the field you know we've kind of seen as drip drip drip of candidates dropping off up to this point but you know depending on how super Tuesday goes if there's a clear cut and you know I guess is already a top tier but a clear sets you know two or three candidates that really come out emerging from that that could be the death knell for anyone who's below that very top tier I'm going to pay that just a little bit but I think it's critical to start talking about this as we approach of November because the Democrats are still fighting it out in the primary we are not seeing the big ad buys like we just saw from the trump campaign where that campaign did a big election day ad buy on YouTube and so I'm wondering just from from where you said Kate Kathleen if if that indicates to you that may be the trump campaign is putting that digital strategy out there as something very important for it to to invest in I think that's absolutely true I think there's a sense that the trump campaign is trying to be and and has been right along and I mean everything down to not just a campaign by the trump White House I you trump's use of Twitter is very in touch with you know it's special strategy and the ability to kind of capitalize on that so I think.

"The talent of Patrick holds and Sean walks in on the same field not the same guy but the same feel the same place the same game that in and of itself I think is worth the price of admission now my homes is the reigning NFL MVP not likely to repeat but what he did last season with the five thousand plus yards fifty touchdown passes he looks like that quarterback these last few weeks the chiefs win the AFC west they've got six consecutive wins just by virtue of that win streak and the patriots not taking care of business at home they in the tiebreak against doing lead the body the two seed to me they're flying under the radar with magic is crazy considering the homes of the M. B. P. and they have a buy and they want another twelve games but because of all the attention on New England the defending champ and the rate and for what they've done this season fourteen into rightfully so I kind of think it over look is the wrong word but they're definitely not in the white hot spotlight that they were a year ago and then we have the Texans coming into arrowhead stadium off of what was I take charge performance for dish all walks in I mean they were in clinging to life support against the Buffalo Bills no wait until the final two minutes of the third quarter and then to Sean walked in went to work the twenty yard touchdown scamper that was the one that you chose for TV of the week his hallucinate his athleticism right and there were seven fax in there but he avoided just as many and that signature moment in overtime that really set the tone for wild card weekend two defenders about to make a Watson sandwich yes this perfectly time spin move to get away from both of them leave us a loser leave them wondering what happened yes like the black out of money that football thank you Kevin Orland and he rolls out delivers down field for the play that puts them in range for the game winning field goal amazing that was my favorite moment of wild card weekend and now we get these two quarterbacks in the same place and as you can imagine they have a ton of respect for one another because of the style of play also because there's no way that you can avoid seeing what the other has done just by virtue of highlight reels if you've watched a Sean since college there are I'm sure even since high school there never out of the game I mean you someone that can make big plays happen no matter what the scenario is and he's not you know I find Julian and saw you know that going into the game so you know that coming as often answer and as a defense and and as a team you have to make sure that you're on top of it all game long it's gonna be a sixty minute fight or even longer whatever it takes I mean you have to make sure that you come in with that mentality that you can play your best football every single snap school remains cool to see a fellow Franta of mine a goddess plan the same position as me have so much success and sit in a live action so definitely dope is going to be a good experience it definitely dope this on what then Patrick my homes there is of course the challenge for each of the defense's now more homes isn't all running quarterback but man on the move he can deliver bullets downfield and and we feed him switch to the left hand when he's about to get pulled down we've seen him escape the same kind of trouble that Watson has what then with a little more experience and I think you at least this is my opinion watch it a little more athletic in terms of his ability to extend or create plays but mom says a cannon for an arm I mean if they're both just so much fun at that position and told me what about the defense what do you do and if it's a real challenge what do you think about each of these defense of unit and something I'd said earlier this week is that as much as the chief offenses got intention and it should I mean it as they say that they played extremely well the homes is back into an incredible read them over four thousand yards twenty six touchdowns and this is even though he missed what for five weeks you also have to look at the defense you have to consider that defense it may be one of the reasons why they've been so good in the last month and a half the defense is tightened up after all the turnover seven new starters to begin the season they completely overhauled their defense understudies bag nolo they've got some guys who can rush the quarterback they've also got a much improved secondary which includes Tyron Matthew and he obviously is part of the defense that has the challenge of slowing down the shot Watson anytime the best player on the field has the ball in his hands you info football game so that's our mindset defensively we we understand that you know we got to disrupt his targets but most importantly number four we got it we got affect him before he kinda has the Russell Wilson affect you know you can't beat him at everything some things he's going to win that take the most important note I can give is when you're come in for him trying to tackle him just to be on the control I'll just say that your this is the game I voted for I mean all of them are gonna be great I just know it I can feel it but arrowhead stadium should be as loud the entire time the way the NRG stadium was last weekend even when the Texan said zero points and looked miserable on offense with the return of JJ what the defense getting a boost because the bills didn't take advantage of the opportunities when they had them now they obviously started out like a house on fire with the Josh Alan touchdown catch but the defense was playing so well and the crowd never let up and that's gonna be the same situation for the chiefs now at arrowhead the crowd does not let up love these atmospheres so what do these games would you most like to attend in person you can find our poll on Twitter or on Facebook so a law radio or Facebook page named after this here show it is a football Friday a whole of flame up Friday we're inside.

also got a much improved secondary which includes Tyron Matthew and he obviously is part of the defense that has the challenge of slowing down the shot Watson any time the best player on the field has the ball in his hands you info football game so that's our mindset defensively we we understand that you know we got to disrupt his targets but most importantly number four we got it we got affecting before he kind of has that Russell Wilson affect you know you can't beat him at everything some things he's going to win that take the most important note I can give is when you're come in for him trying to tackle him used to be on the control I'll just say that your this is the game I voted for I mean all of them are gonna be great I just know it I can feel it but arrowhead stadium should be as loud the entire time the way the NRG stadium was last weekend even when the Texan said zero points and looked miserable on offense with the return of JJ what the defense getting a boost because the bills didn't take advantage of the opportunities when they had them now they obviously started out like a house on fire with the Josh Allen touchdown catch but the defense was playing so well and the crowd never let up and that's gonna be the same situation for the chiefs now at arrowhead the crowd does not let up love these atmospheres so what do these games would you most like to attend in person you can find our poll on Twitter or on Facebook so a law radio or Facebook page named after this here show it is a football Friday a whole of flame up Friday we're inside.

"The same field not the same guy but the same feel the same place the same game that in I think is worth the price of admission now my homes is the reigning NFL MVP not likely to repeat but what he did last season with the five thousand plus yards fifty touchdown passes he looks like that quarterback these last few weeks the chiefs win the AFC west they've got six consecutive wins just by virtue of that win streak and the patriots not taking care of business at home they in the tiebreak against New England the body the to feed to me they're flying under the radar magic is crazy considering the homes of the M. B. P. and they have a buy and they want another twelve games but because of all the attention on New England the defending champ and the rate and for what they've done this season fourteen into rightfully so I kind of think it and overlook is the wrong word but they're definitely not that in the white hot spotlight that they were a year ago and then we have the Texans coming into arrowhead stadium off of what was I take charge performance for dish all walked in I mean they were in clinging to life support against the Buffalo Bills no until the final two minutes of the third quarter and then to Sean walked in went to work the twenty yard touchdown scamper that was the one that you chose for TV of the week his elusiveness his athleticism right and there were seven fax in there but he avoided just as many and that signature moment in overtime that really set the tone for wild card weekend two defenders about to make a walk to the sandwich and yes this perfectly time spin move to get away from both of them leave solution leave them wondering what happened yes like the black out of money that football thank you Kevin Orland and he rolls out delivers down field for the play that puts them in range for the game winning field goal amazing that was my favorite moment of wild card weekend and now we get these two quarterbacks in the same place and as you can imagine they have a ton of respect for one another because of the style of play also because there's no way that you can avoid seeing what the other has done just by virtue of highlight reels if you've watched disarmed since college there are I'm sure even since high school there never out of the game I mean he's someone that can make big plays happen no matter what the scenario is and he's not you know I find Julian and saw you know that going to the game so you know that coming as often answer and as a defense and and as a team you have to make sure that you're on top of it all game long it's gonna be a sixty minute fight or even longer whatever it takes I mean you have to make sure that you come in with that mentality that you're gonna play your best football every single snap school remains cool to see a fellow friend of mine a goddess plan the same position as me have so much success and sit in and live action so definitely dope is going to be a good experience it definitely dope this on what then Patrick my homes there is of course the challenge for each of the defense's now more homes isn't all running quarterback but man on the move he can deliver bullets downfield and and we feed him switch to the left hand when he's about to get pulled down we've seen him escape the same kind of trouble that Watson has walked in with a little more experience and I think you at least this is my opinion watch it a little more athletic in terms of his ability to extend or create plays but mom says a cannon for an arm I mean if they're both just so much fun at that position and tell me what about the defense what do you do and if it's a real challenge what do you think about each of these defense of unit something I'd said earlier this week is that as much as the chief offenses got attention and it should I mean it as they say that they played extremely well the homes is back into an incredible read them over four thousand yards twenty six touchdowns and this is even though he missed what for five weeks you also have to look at the defense you have to consider that defense it may be one of the reasons why they've been so good in the last month and a half the defense is tightened up after all the turnover seven new starters to begin the season they completely overhauled their defense understudies bag nolo they've got some guys who can rush the quarterback they've also got a much improved secondary which includes Tyron Matthew and he obviously is part of the debate that has the challenge of slowing down to show Watson anytime the best player on the field has the ball in his hands you info football game so that's our mindset defensively we we understand that you know we got to disrupt his targets but most importantly number four we got it we got affecting before he kinda has the Russell Wilson affect you know you can't beat him at everything some things he's going to win that take the most important note I can give is when you're come in for him trying "All right. So if you think that I'm looking for ways to get that in your right? Always listen to Mark Lawrence is a bad bad man, a bad, man. And if a dude like that is going to draw fire like that, then you know, my man rod. He's got his shovel extra sharp, and his will is now beyond outstanding. And he's gonna have that defense all fired up all fired up for TANF. Now, let me straight. That's a pretty tough things to say about the crew formerly known as America's team now voice respected away. Jason Garrett clapped my man can turn on every light bulb from El Paso tab, lean with two crisp ones that said I have not always respected the way he has coached. So let me say this show out tomorrow night. And then we have something to talk about. Then maybe I'll believe I'm not gonna jump in the front seat of Jerry's bus. Until I see this team beat a squad debt is not lower than a crippled crickets asked three weeks ago, ginge gravy trained rods d to a win. And finally remembered he had Zeke Elliot seven yards deep two weeks ago. He played it vanilla he put the game on the back of a kicker who had missed kicks in three straight games and Shenton extra point earlier that day, but Brent Maher knocked a forty two yard or through to beat the AT L. And then last week he took on a Redskin Redskins squad. There was still reeling from Alex Smith putting his foot on backwards. A wins win. I'm not saying give them back. And as much as I'm loving, the heat that is flowing from DeMarcus Lawrence's gap, I still need to see it first. But I'll be straight. You've got my attention. You've got my attention, which the hell of a lot more than I thought that. I'd be giving these guys when chase was defending his decision to punt on fourth and one on the Texans. Forty two yard line in overtime. I didn't think they'd ever my attention number again, not for the right reasons. So back it up. Now, let's see go toe-to-toe with these dudes in the center of the ring. And then we will have something to talk about you're talking it back it up can you walk it because I'm looking at a saints team that is explosive. A saints team is getting better defensively week to week and most of All Saints team. It's got a big chip on their shoulder. It's personal. It's personal. And even though there's no such thing as a quote bulletin board anymore because there's barely such a thing as newspapers clippings to post on a bulletin board. Man, DeMarcus just gave them all the fuel. They're going to need. You got my attention a love. It would have given. One eight hundred six three six eight six eight six or opportunity here. Right. Phone lines are wide open segments are wide open. I can fill this thing. I go take take take take from trying to get you in here. Give me a call. What do you wanna talk about? Agreed disagree. I don't care have a take don't suck come strong make the show better elevate conversation. What do you want to hit on? Wilder in the third hour. Gerard Galant in the third hour. Second hour is wide open. Kevin Orland tweets. Dallas is not going to hang with the saints. They need to shut the hell up. Maybe maybe the saints are the best in the NFL right now top to bottom best team in the NFL right now, and they're playing with a lot of attitude. They've got the foot on the gas. And they're not taking it off either. They're looking to not only win. They're looking to win a certain way. Dallas is talking a lot of noise give whatever call Bush. What are they accomplished? They got to the top the worst division in the NFL. But but the relevant say something else to that Amari Cooper trade looks pretty damn good right about now. Give them credit. Which is not which is not to be confused with what the Redskins just did. All right. So let's not get this twisted. Don't do not start in on the plane a really crappy division. It's up for grabs. One difference maker could be the difference between winning that division and losing that division. Right. A former failed. First rounder is one thing another guy who was just cut for allegations of domestic violence is entirely another. Bad look for the Redskins. It's a bad decision. And it's a bad look. But I do need more time to set that up. What do you think Cowboys saints? How do you think that's going to go tomorrow night? I should really check in with my guy. Trevor Pryce who's on a heater. Trevor is red hot this guy. Cannot miss suddenly couldn't get one. Right. And now, suddenly he cannot miss. Six oh into in his last eight. In fact, you already call that game. Go to the RPO podcast if you wanna know his pick. If you don't want to wait give it to you right now. He's got the saints minus seven saints, minus seven. At almighty, oh tweets. Why is it every time? They'll lobby looks up at his camera. I feel like he's looking right through my soul, evil war Dorthe Alvin. Impressive alvin. Do you know the show is on TV to the radio show is on TV CBS sports network. Find it we live every Monday through Friday, nine to noon Pacific Nunes at three eastern, the radio show is a TV show. Sure, you find that. Thinking about the hack off not seriously mind you, but I am thinking about it. Let's give them a taste back in the day. Like, Joe Lena's, an example. The smack off world's back in the day because we had people like Joe lean now there's a cast of characters the call this show. There's a cast of nuts who call this show, but it made sense back then because of people like Joe lean right now, nobody caused this show. Who's like Joe lean Joe lean in Farmington sub girlfriend? How're you doing wrong? Julian how are you? I'm pretty good. And I anticipate in my call. Hell, yes. They are. What do you got for him? All kinds of BS. Join anytime you want to start spine let it rip. Is he's a German shepherd rescue mix. There is nothing more than that more than one man hockey sacking by himself. Oh, yeah. I guess there is. Fish. I'm going down. I'm gonna take all y'all down like meta world peace baby. Can't come back from me. Oh, Kyle please Kisa baby Metta world peace baby. The biggest thing says the Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding, and the world's gotta stop rotate. When I sit in the real Jim Rome and co host the show. Hey. For future reference. I like my coffee black. You. Hey, hey, hey, that's why there's no smack off Julian he's still there. That I'm out. I'm out Bo that is the very definition of the hack off. That's why that thing was so magical back in the day that call. The appear to me of a hack God that was beautiful. That's why we can't bring it back. It'll never live up to that. Elite athletes. No, you can't be the best until you have beaten the best. If you want to compete at the highest level, you have to be.
