Biden continues to test positive, has 'return of a loose cough': Doctor
"His doctor says President Biden's cough is back as he deals with a rebound case of COVID-19 For a fourth straight day doctor Kevin O'Connor says the president tested positive for the virus in a letter O'Connor says the president feels well and is in good spirits but he notes a bit of a return of a loose cough The president will stay isolated in The White House residence at least through Thursday under CDC guidelines and maybe longer under tougher White House protocols if he keeps testing positive Sagar Meghani Washington
Doctor: Biden tests positive for COVID for 3rd day in a row
"President Biden is said to be feeling well as he starts another week in COVID-19 isolation Doctor Kevin O'Connor says the president tested positive again this morning as could be anticipated given his rebound case of COVID It's the third straight day of testing positive for the president who had emerged from isolation just last Wednesday after a COVID bout He'd taken the antiviral packs Levin which research suggests can trigger a rebound in rare cases But for now the president remains isolated in The White House residence Sagar Meghani Washington
Joe Biden Is Back in COVID Isolation—Maybe He Should Stay There
"Well, bad news for Joe Biden. So Joe Biden, apparently, said that he had tested negative for COVID, but then apparently he tested positive again for COVID. There are some suggestion that the paxil did that he was taking had suppressed the positive test and that he was never actually negative for COVID, according to CNBC dot com. President Biden on Saturday tested positive for COVID again after consecutive days of testing negative for the virus, according to his physician, Biden has experiencing no new symptoms continues to feel quite well according to doctor Kevin O'Connor in a memo shared by The White House. He will nevertheless reinitiate strict isolation procedures, according to the presidential physician. Now, part of the problem here is that the standards for the CDC here are incredibly dumb because the reality is there are a lot of people who still have dead virus that is going to cause them to test positive for COVID long after the symptoms for COVID are gone and long after the COVID that they have has stopped being transmissible, which demonstrates more about the standards than it does about Joe Biden. Biden tweeted quote folks today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with the small minority of folks. I've got no symptoms. I'm going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. I'm still at work and we'll be back on the road soon. Well, I mean, honestly, maybe the best presidential strategy for him at this point is to simply stay off the road for like the rest of his presidency. After all, it worked amazing for him during the campaign. So if he can just claim that he's positive for COVID, without any symptoms for the rest of his presidency, it'll probably benefit him since the more of him that people see the less of him they like.
Biden tests positive for COVID-19, returns to isolation

Biden tests negative for COVID-19, ends 'strict isolation'
"President Biden is coming out at his COVID-19 isolation His doctor says the president tested negative last night and again this morning doctor Kevin O'Connor says the president's also finished an antiviral course and does not have a fever given all that O'Connor says the president will end when he calls strict isolation measures He's been working from The White House residence after testing positive for COVID-19 last Thursday Sagar Meghani Washington

"Sadiq bay, some cap space, Deandre ayton, maybe? For cheetah's medicals, Portugal, for cheetah. But the Trey was great. I also love when woj does the tweet. Congratulating the Detroit GM. What said Troy reaver? Trey weaver pulled this off. It's like, what did he pull off? He was picking 5th. And he fell to the 5th, 5 spot. He didn't take a big, would have gotten fired. Didn't he congratulate our tell him on there? Did it mention Troy weaver, though? No, I think he did. One of the tweets I did. I love when the GMs get congratulated for people falling into their lap. It's one of my favorite drafters. There's a lot of water carrying lately, which I'm most surprised by. But regardless, Detroit sucks for a couple years, and now they have the foundation, you know? I like what they have, especially if they can nail the fridge thing. Let's talk cade, I'd be quickly kos. Do you see ivy starting? How do you see that going? How does it unfold? Yeah, I see him starting. But regardless coming off the bench, that's a 6 man or starting with cade. Those guys are going to play a lot together. A lot of pick and roll. I'm excited to see Kate playing with as much as I wish Killian Hayes was great with a point guard who we know is a downhill attacker. You're going to see cade Cunningham. I think really, really develop all fall and Jalen durand or if they sign 8 and whoever it might be, this is going to be a heavy pick and roll team. And never minds Sadiq bay as well on this unit. Pistons have something nice. Is this the best fitting young team in the NBA in terms of how the pieces all fit together with what they have? I still say they need like the one rebounder guy. They would say they would say Isaiah Stewart, but I think he's a backup, even though I like them. I think it's like an 8th or a 9th man, but I do think he could be on a really good team. I think what's interesting to them about for me is that usually when the teams have the two guards and back to back lotteries, it's usually kind of an awkward fit. You know, you end up with like a Sexton Garland type of situation where it's like, ah, I like these guys individual. I'm not sure I like them together. I think in this case, I like the fit. And.

"I don't know if it's the catch and shoot stuff. I don't even know what the numbers would be, but it looked like he wasn't maybe as like multi dimensional with the basketball, even though he cooked Utah and he can score. So I wouldn't even knock like, hey, man, you want to spend your money on him. Now you have two drivers where he and RJ can kind of play off of each other. It's one of those things where I know what the numbers are on the overall traditional stuff, but there are just moments and I don't know if I'm on my own on this one in that series against Golden State where I felt like, oh wait, maybe he maybe he's not just a straight catch and shoot guy like he has to dance with it a little bit more. So there you go. Well, and also if you're going to do all this maneuvering to try to create a cap space for somebody, like to me, that's got to be an all NBA guy or close. And I don't see a world where he's, I don't know, one of the best 8 point guards in the league. I really like Jalen Brunson. But I thought he was in a nice spot with Dallas. He's not your savior. Where are you going if you have Jalen Brunson and Randall and Tom? Nice player. But you're right. I mean, you're being too nice about this. There's like, how many times have you done top 20 in top 30? Have you ever put Jalen Brunson in the others and then gone, I didn't make it. I don't even write it down. Yeah. What do you think KFC? Where do you have them? I mean, he's fine. He's a good player. He's a player. He averaged 21 and 7 with Luca was out during the season 22 and 5 during the postseason. He's a good player. You guys are right. He's not a top 30 guy. He's not a top 40 guy. He's not a top 50 guy for that matter. And so he's going to be getting paid 25 possibly 25 plus $1 million with the Knicks. And I think for them, look, with Brunson adding him, he gives you a stabilizer and so I interviewed him in Dallas during the postseason and he said something interesting. We haven't run like an article on maybe, but he said something kind of like he caught himself when he said it. And I asked him about his evolving role with Dallas and he said, I've been working at this in case someday I have higher usage. And he's like, well, he stops himself and he's like, well, I mean like in the context of needing a film in for Luca sometimes. And sometimes playing him playing off me. And he kind of caught himself when he said that. And it makes sense considering his role with Dallas, but I wonder for him. He said, does he not like playing with Luca? Maybe he just wants to be the full-time point guard and be someone who averages 22 points, 7 assists throughout the entire season. And for the next, he might not be your star player, but I do think he can be one of those guys on a winning team, just like we saw with Dallas. He's still a really good player. And we can't forget that no matter what and it makes end up paying him. I have him 52nd on the unreleased trade value list. You really are from some work into this. I was on planes for two straight buds going to some games. But when that contract goes to 26, 27 million, it's going to be a little different. Swinging it toward the Knicks though. And the Knicks fan base, and I have a lot of Knicks fans in my life. The Knicks fans are freaking out tonight. I think that there was a lot of instability and unhappiness and dysfunction and just in general, a horrible century, really dating back from the 2000 playoffs on. And it seemed like at least there was a semblance of stability coming when they made the playoffs rando blass on the whole thing. And within a year, it feels like they're back to just kind of be in the semi dysfunctional Knicks. Now they're trying to basically it's jaylen bunsen Brunson Kyrie or bust, which is a weird place to be. I'm just like, if you want to create cap space, KFC, can you just stretch the Kemba thing? He only had like one year left at 9 million. Can you just stretch it? Over 5 years and create this space that way. Why do I have to give up the 11th pick? Like that was a really good pick. We're so loves dang. Like dang might be an all NBA guys someday down the road. Who knows? I mean, I think for them, it's also not just about the cap space. It's also about the first round picks they got. It does give them more flexibility for future trades to have all the money. Maybe. I.

"I was like, can I call in? For 25 minutes. But Eddie did this great favorite show I called it. I needed busiest guys in the business. I texted him. I was like, I got nothing to do with 3 o'clock PT. I'm calling it. Eddie did this great thing yesterday about the concept of people being hurt during the playoffs. And he was like, and it was basically, it was the van Gundy point, multiplied by three. He was just like, look, it's a playoffs, and he went through all the playoffs and he was like, 93. I had a pulled hamstring and I had this. You know, I went out there and his whole point was like, nobody is healthy at this point in the year. You've played 95 games, 98 games, a hundred games. You have something. Your knee hurts. You know, you have sprained ankle or whatever. And he's like, he actually said, there was one year in Houston 97, where I was pretty healthy. That playoffs. I felt really good. That year because I hadn't played that many minutes during the season. So I felt good in the playoffs and I remember like, wow, it's round three. I still feel pretty good. And his point was like, everybody's banged up. So he's just the guys who have actually played and I think van Gundy accounts this too. You know, because he coached, it was just like, these days it's like a hospital ward by the time we get to round three. And I said this the other day when I was talking to house about this, like I think this is what makes LeBron's 8 year stretch so incredible with the 168 playoff games he played where it never really seemed like he was ever that hurt, right? And it was always able to shrug stuff off and how physical his game was and it just never mattered. He was just going forward going forward going forward, which I think is such a big part of his legacy. Anyway, anything to add Cassie? I mean, I think Michael Peña had a good interview with grant Williams on SI recently and he asked him straight up. Have you ever felt the way you do right now playing basketball, kind of along the lines of what you're talking about. And grant was pretty open. He's like, no, everybody's dealing with something right now. It's that you have to deal with it. You just have to change your treatment, change what you're doing between games and it's the truth. It's the truth when you have 14 games in 28 days or whatever it is right now. All of these guys are having to adjust right now. And I think for both of them, having a little bit of time off before the finals, whoever wins it, and then I think it's every game besides one in the NBA Finals, there's two days off between games. If I remember correctly, so that's going to be a great benefit to Boston or Miami, whoever does advance. I have a quick I used to play basketball comment..

"He's heard in them more than helping them. And instead it was Caleb Martin and Duncan Robinson in the second half. And that was one of the big adjustments for small shirt to make that. And it wasn't Lowry and bowler who were dead. It was Al Horford. I mean, he had his worst game at the worst possible time for Boston as well. Yeah. Well, that's the every other day thing. Well, that leads us to the rob Williams piece of this. Because they're just a different team when he's not out there, especially you don't get the alley oops anymore. You don't have Miami worried about the stuff around the rim anymore. And then defensively, he was challenging everything. He was all over the place. I think I know the moment when he might have tweaked the knee again. He had this sequence where it almost felt like he had either black, or tried, it was in the second quarter, like he had blocked or tried to block like three different shots in a row. And then it cut to him and it was a time out and he was just hunched over with his hands on his knee and I remember thinking like, oh no. Because he's almost like a car that you don't want to go over like a hundred miles an hour because you don't know what's going to happen in the engine. Any time he has one of those frenzied sequences, I always get nervous, but the fact that he wasn't even out there at the end. I thought that really handicapped. You don't go because grant has sucked really for most of this series, but especially in the last couple of games, he was bad again today. That was why they had to waste that challenge, I guess in retrospect because they knew rob wasn't coming back, right? KO, so you grand can't fall out because then what are you going to do? But grant was bad. So the rob thing lingering in the game 7 plus smart looking the way he did. I'm definitely not optimistic. And you said that your dad mentioned that he was in the locker room. He saw him go to the locker room. Yeah, he left before. He left in the fourth quarter, apparently. I mean, that's terrible. That's terrible. Mister Boston, especially with the deterrent that he is against bam adebayo as well, because for Miami, you have Jimmy Butler with a dominant night Kyle, he was really good. And bam, 6 points on 6 shots. But if you are removing Robert Williams out of that equation, that opens up more possibilities for him scoring at the rim, off drives to the rim, rolls the rim. Offensive rebounds with bam. I mean, Boston's done a good job neutralizing him besides that one big performance. Yeah, horror does such a good job. It reminds me of when he used to go up and beat years ago and the reason you like Horford in the matchup and why so I think we even joked that Philly signed him just to get him away from being able to defend him bead. Oh yeah. Because he just shuts you off. Like he shuts you off and he makes you stay parallel. Like you don't get deep on him when you go across and I think sometimes bam just flat out doesn't want to attack him like he doesn't like it. But the grant challenge, I know people are going to be pissed about it because the shot or it counts. So now you're basically just a point cost of the free throw. But I thought that he wanted to do it because it was going to be grant's 5th and he just wanted grant as the option even though he was bad. And it definitely, it was funny because I'm watching the legs going, what are they calling? And then when they'll pull and then you look at the top and you're like, he fouled him. He followed him at the top and we were all watching Jimmy's legs and where he landed thinking that that was going to get overturned. And there's probably the two plays after the fact that you look at going, well, they would have had the challenge. The offhand charge they called on Tatum on the drive to the right side on Tucker's an offer. That was awful. Jesus Christ. Every good part of the league does that on ten drugs. And then the other one on Jimmy with the drive in the baseline where he landed out of bounds, the ball was off of him. He threw the ball out of ads. But I want to make it very clear. The refs, the refs. They were bad for everybody. Right. But it was all over the place. It had nothing to do. I really don't think it had anything to do with the outcome. But the reason they won is because of butler. PJ Tucker said after the game, tell draymond, I said I appreciate it. So somehow, draymond, who's not even on the Celtics. Now maybe this is the evil genius of draymond because he wanted to play Miami at the Celtics. So he floats it out there. We're playing the Celtics because he knows.

"Or 6th. They'll have some ammo to move around. The problem for them is this, as you get deeper into the first round, this year's class seems like it'll be weaker. We'll see how that changes before June. But those picks in 2022 don't necessarily have the same value as some of the deeper drafts that we've seen in recent years. But with levert, I don't think there's people lined up around the corner for him. He's been a notoriously inefficient score for years now. His most efficient season of his career or maybe best was his rookie year. So for him, I think with levert, he's a volume score, and there's some value there for Cleveland, but it's no guarantee to be a plus result for the Cavaliers on the site either because of his scoring inefficiencies. Yeah, except for he does do what they need, which is drive to the basket. Draw people. That's exactly what Cleveland needs, which they're missing right now. Cleveland's so fun. I'm really excited. I mean, really, I think they're really fun team and I like Derek. I mean, everyone loves Darius Garland. It's too bad Sexton is gone. They're such an interesting team. So I think Indiana, the one thing you can never discount with them, old school owners, they're watching their luxury tax line. They want to get way under. They want all sorts of cap space. I hope they don't. Well, actually, I do hope they trade sabonis. I'd like him to see him go somewhere where he could be a little more relevant in the league because I just, well, I know you like him too, Bill. I just love watching him play. And you know, we always thought they would trade miles Turner before sabonis. He looks like they might even trade both, if this really is the fire sale that we keep hearing it might be. Yeah, and Turner's hurt. So that's the problem with Turner. That killed everything. That killed their plan, you know? I think he already would have been traded. So KFC, I wanted the cabs to get Gordon. I thought he made more sense with the team they have. I also think he's playing well. And I think that would have been a fair price for Gordon if they'd done that. I guess the case with levert is he's 27. And he's bounced around a little. He's been in different types of situations. And, you know, if you're looking at and you're like, all right, this is our team now. You know, where we have mobile and Allen, if Kevin Love and marketing, you've Garland, you have levert, you have a koro. You've Osman. And Sexton when he comes back comes back. Yeah. And then you have some picks that you accumulated too. To me, this was a move. I'm guessing I have been reading the stories yet that they really thought about this for 5, 6 weeks, and they were like, this is actually the guy we want to add. Southerner contract this year next year. And if he does well, we can extend him. But I think for just watching them, I thought Gordon would have made adding him in a playoff series. I trust him more than burn. I think levert's kind of a ball stopper. I'm not positive about him with the flow that this team has. So I guess we'll find out. You seem like you're down on it. I mean, he's definitely leans towards scoring. I don't know if I'd go full ball stopper. He can pass a little bit. And maybe it's surrounded by the talent they have in Cleveland. He leans into that even more. But he's not like a orchestrator or conductor of the offense by any means, which is why like Jackie said he brings what they need in the sense that they need downhill, a guy who can attack the basket and that can complement the perimeter oriented game of Darius Garland and give them you can shuffle different pieces with Jared Allen or Evan mobley. There's so many different pick and roll combinations that they can play with. And that can be effective together. So I like it for Cleveland. I don't love it. Similar to like you said, Bill, because of just the natural Eric Gordon fit, what he would have been there, but he's also 6 years older. And he doesn't fit the timeline of what that core is. So this is clearly a trade for Cleveland that's about more than just this season. It's about the future and growing levert into something that they want him to be that fits everything else. Well, in that Kevin Love rejuvenation season, Jackie. Who would have thought he was like way back in the freezer? He was covered with ice cubes and seaweed, and you're like, what is that? Is that a pizza? Right. Pull in your pool and it's Kevin Love. Hey. He's delicious. I forgot. Well, you forget how good he is. You know, seriously. You forget how good he is. Again, it's all about fit. You said that earlier, Kevin. And I would say 95% of all NBA players, it's all about fit. And your mental attitude. And his attitude sucked. He deserved to get criticized. I think he knows that. You know? Yeah. He was, you know, he was like, man, I'm a champion. I don't need this crap, you know? And so now all of a sudden, they're kind of fun to be around. And he helps them. He does. He had a nice little I mean, he's really been good. Well, you know what's been great. And I've thought this forever. I mean, I just feel like I know he won a title in Cleveland. He'd probably do that over again, but just the worst possible team for him to go to for what his skills were. I just love when he's around the basket. Right. And when you're just putting him in the corner and you're putting him 25 feet away, you're taking this guy who his single greatest gift is his instincts around the basket for his offensive rebounds for the ability to grab a defensive rebound and send a pass out and all of these things that if he's just standing in the corner like Jay Crowder, I'm not using those gifts. So it's been nice to see it again this year. Well, and he completely changed his body. You were talking before about changing your body. Think about Minnesota, Kevin Levin, what this Kevin Love looks like. Go back and look at the old photos, you know? He completely remodeled his body, too, because he had to, because he saw what was happening, he was smart enough to realize the games getting away from low post centers. If I want to survive, I got to be able to shoot threes and I got to thrive out here in the perimeter and I got to figure out a way to do it. So he completely underwent a complete change in his body. He's another guy that he's not plant based, but he's close. And he watches every single calorie puts into his body. So he made that. He made that change ahead of most of the other guys. Like, you know, Roy Herbert all of a sudden looked up and he's like, oh, crap. What happened? Wait, I can't play anymore. How come? You know? And but Kevin Love was Kevin Love was sort of planning for it. Hey, Kev since December 1st..

"To the dark. Okay. Let's get to rolling the week. I'm gonna start it off. Then we will go to rod and then we will go to our esteemed guest. I'm gonna go take a Memphis century. I'm gonna roll into the week. I don't even know if they played in here this week. I'm gonna go with FedEx form, baby, 'cause I've had so much fucking fun at FedEx forum. It's not a FedEx forum for all the times I watched the grizzlies play there, but also one of my favorite times of all time was he went to birthday bash. Hey, rod, you gotta lock into birthday bash. You gotta bring the kids down to Memphis to go to birthday bass every single year. It's like summer jam. It's locked in. I got to see. I got to see who was there Meek Mill was there. There was a guy that put a whole bunch of money on the stage and did snow angels in it. It was great. It was awesome. It was worth the price of a mission at a great time. Shout out to FedEx forum. I love Memphis. I have a lot of fun in myths every time. Shout out to the city. I'll be back soon. I'm getting drinks with verno, okay. We're gonna lock in what's happening, we're avoiding ice storms. Raja, who is a real one in a week. Yeah, okay. All right, my real one of the week. Yeah, I'm gonna go with Brian Flores. This is an anti NFL or anti dolphins, giants or Broncos, anything like that. I mean, there is a problem in the NFL with their higher in practices. It needs to be illuminated. And I mean, you gotta be a brave dude to stand up and take on an entity like the NFL. God, dog. But he's a real one for what he did, man. And he needed to be done. And so he's my real one of the week. KFC, who is your ruin of the week? I came prepared with a grizzly's answer..

"Know, local celebrity. What do you want me to say? I've never paid for a meal in my life. I'm not to free meals. But if anyone else wants to give me some free food. You know, people want to talk about the grizzlies. Everywhere you go and I would say the energy now, this is, it's a little bit different just because, you know, that two dozen 11 team, which is started the whole thing, they knocked off the spurs and as an 8 seat. You know, they knocked off the number one, and that's how it all started with them knocking off that team. And 11 then just it started 7 years of success. But even until batty a hit the shot in game one against the spurs, they had never want to play off game as a franchise. All we had known is disappointment, been to the playoffs three times lost all 12 games. And when they ended up playing that first team of beating them, then they took over and everybody, you know, but until that moment, like we were talking about earlier, nobody really believed that they were going to knock off the spurs. It was like, jeez just don't get swept again. We can't be the only team that's gone. Oh, it's 16. We thought they were good. People have a much different feeling about this team and the feeling is because of ja, right? That hope and that anything is possible type of thing where it's like, you now envision that was always catch the right matchups. Who knows? And they did go to the west finals. One of the years. But you always knew that when you look through the history of the NBA, there's a superstar on those teams. End of story. Even if it's just one like it wasn't Dallas, there's a superstar on those teams that wins. We tried to talk ourselves into. Maybe we could be like those old pistons. They didn't really have a superstar, but they had an accumulation. I mean, that was such a abnormality, right? And you look back and you realize how abnormal that was. You've got the guy. And that's what's different about this one is that the fan energy, everybody knows we've got the guy. That's the guy that can be the best player on a title team. And so that is a different energy. It's a different energy because zebo and Tony Allen these guys like they could go to roose Chris and eat dinner, you know, and people will be like, hey, love you. Take a couple pictures, whatever. Maria can't go anywhere. He can't go anywhere. He can't go anywhere in the country. He can't go anywhere in the world right now. You just tell ja. You tell ja, right? When you see him, then when that signature pair drops, oh boy, all right? Then I got a couple Young Bucks 'cause I was first on the parade. I was on a bandwagon first with the signature shoe. So you just tell him that. It's gotta be the All-Star Game, right? They can't have them going out that he's starting the game. He can't go out there and like Katie's or kairi's. They've already done the campaign for him. Come on, man. People don't even understand. I could. And I wasn't even an all star. I could go out in anything. Like regular all stars could not superstars, but you need your own shit. Get that manager. Hashtag hashtag stop fucking playing with roger. Where's chick is real? Man, it just needs a shoe, bro I'm telling you, he's like he's that type of I believe I'm with everything verno just said. I believe him to be that and he's only getting better. That cat is only ascending as a star. Have there been rumblings about it at all? Oh, yeah. He's getting a shoe. Yeah, he's getting a shoe. Is that like public information? Is this grisly sources? Oh, no. I mean, they filmed the commercial on the street. Okay, cool. They already did us. That's cool. Says who campaign? The shoe is on the way. Look, he is, I think he's in the top ten in Jersey sales. He was just second in fan voting media and players. All three, so everybody agrees, you know, and is a good time for us there. His risen. Oh, he'll sell a boatload of shoes. Even just his name, you know, I got the new jazz. Oh yeah. It's just a great name for a sneaker. Raja doesn't do the sneaker app shit. He doesn't do that line shit. I think he might. Would you stand in line for some air jobs or would you or we need to get the package in any stock fucking playing with you? I don't stand in line for anything. I'm not no, man. Come on, dog from where you came from, bro, that's got to be accessible. People got to be able to touch that. We ain't no lines enough. Nike flood the market. Dog, let's get them jazz out there. The fuck that exclusive, the only selling 7 pairs, you got 10 million mofos trying to get the shoot. Stop playing. I mean, what the hell is that? Hey, man, I feel you, Doc. So, Werner's rant somehow put out all the power in his house, so he's going to do ruin of the week in the dark. We are pleased to be safe out there. Welcome.

"Memphis. And I now have just the reconsidered how I introduce Kevin. Yours is so much better. Oh, that's 11 it's a lot, man. It's good to have you guys on the show, man. It's good to have you guys. Yeah, man. Good to be here. If I told you my Memphis story, though Logan, I've told you my story about the Piedmont hotel in Memphis. I'm sorry. I can't even go into it. No. One of the most people like, I'm sitting, right? That's something with the ducks and the thing. Straight up. I used to send summers in Memphis to white station shout out. This cat, I needed something pressed, right? And at the time, they didn't have the capability for some reason. Machinery was down, or it was too late to send it out, whatever was going on. My man was like, you really need that shirt. And I was like, yes, I really do, dude, I only brought one suit and one shirt, like I have nothing to wear to the game tomorrow. He took my shirt home and his wife hand ironed my shit and he brought it back to me the next day. So they're now fatality. I don't know his name, I wish I did, but yes, it was one of the most genuine thoughtful things I ever had done for me in an NBA city. So dope. That just warms my heart, okay? You know what else? Let's start the show off, man. You know what else warms Roz's heart? Chris Vernon, John morant. The fact is, the man is a baller. How good is John Moran? I'm gonna start off with Vernon, let's go to. You're down ten toes down, verno, how good is John Moran up close? I mean, I have never, I have never had the pleasure of getting to watch somebody like him every night. What he has turned into this year is one of the best handful of players in the NBA. You know, his rookie year, he was amongst the top 5 scorers in the last 5 minutes of games, like the fourth quarter. He was a great scorer down the stretch. And you could see glimpses of. And then the second year, there was it was a weird year. They lost Jared Jackson for the season. And it was, and then he got injured. It didn't go the way he wanted to. And it was a lot of figuring out, you know, last season. And I think that there were a lot of people that then started sleeping on him. You saw that when ESPN came out with their list and that was last spring. It was an April of 2021. He was not listed amongst the best players under 24 years old. So that's how it had gone. And then he came back this season and literally from night one and you could go find the dunk that happened against Cleveland and the block that happened against Cleveland on opening night. You could tell, oh boy, something something is different here. And obviously as the year has gone on, it has just gotten better and better and better for him. And that's despite missing 12 games in the middle of all of it. He has now he has gone like it's almost like he bypassed star. That's what I would say. He went straight from a guy that people were not thinking of nearly as highly as they did after his rookie of the year to superstardom. When you look from a national perspective, how big has jazz stock risen over the last few years and the last few months actually. And how do you think that it'll keep going? When did he get onto the national scene in your eyes? 'cause I already know, man. We're gonna talk about this even more throughout this pod. He's a bit certified in the streets. But when did the league started to take a notice of who John morant was as a player? I mean, I think Werner would agree with me, probably this season. In terms of him just going from more than whatever he was to more than a star because I think with John Moran, he from a production standpoint, him going from a 19 point per game guide to somebody averaging 25 plus running the offense on a top three seat in the Western Conference in having as many all star votes as he did. I think this is the year where people are like, okay, Josh, taking that leap. And for me, when I watch him play, there are a lot of great stars, the NBA, especially right now. But with joy, I think his clutch performance, the way he just runs the show, I went Chris said he's beyond a star. I think he's a star in the sense that you can trust him in those moments. He is somebody who comes through and he inspires belief in his teammates. They have that in him. I hate always working it up. It's like growing up a fan of Tom Brady. You always believed. You always believed your team had a chance to win the game with him as your quarterback. And I think with John morant, I'm sure, for your son, all his friends, Chris, that watched John morant..

"The Bengals to the Super Bowl, but amazing story. I mean, two things amazing. One is he brought the bagels to the Super Bowl two years. He said he had a major knee injury. What? 1415 months ago and over and over again was just willing to win. There's that one drive when he had multiple scrambles when it seems like the chiefs pass rush is really going to get to him. And it just didn't. There was a confidence to him, the chase thing. The fact that he convinced him to draft chase. So I would say of the winner, even though others would say Sean mcvay, because John McVeigh went on with that ramstein, but he did such a weird coaching job today. Joey B has got to be the winner of the weekend. Definitely the big winner. I know we like to talk big winners and losers, and I feel even worse for Josh Allen, because I think he tweeted something like, what did he say? What was his tweet? I forgot what it was just like, just so unsatisfying to watch the chiefs Lewis to this team now, because mostly because it's like, oh man, we're gonna see Josh Allen. I'm a homes for the next ten years, thousand years. Like, no, there's Joe burrow and it's Justin Herbert and his deshaun Watson it becomes into the conference. Like, there's no guarantee for anything and for borrowed to pick it up and do what he did. And just exactly what you said. The elusiveness. And when he would scramble out of a sack and they wouldn't, they couldn't get to him. But once or twice, I forget how many Sachs a day. They have one or two sacks. I think they only had one. They have one. They could have had zero or 6, but he did what you expect mahomes to do. Mahomes would hit the bee button and spin and spin and spin and get out of it. And then there was still nothing downfield. In fact, he would waited and took a couple sacks doing that. And borrow was just the opposite of that, that kind of eluded all the pass rushes and figured it out. And by the way, I could say pass rush, not like collinsworth. I'm able to say it. Pass rush. He says passion. Password? Is that some passion? We're getting a lot of collinsworth this week with us in there. Joey burr was 23 for 38 for two 50, 5 scrambles for 25 yards, only one sec. So on paper, it's like, wow, that wasn't that great. Same thing for last week, but if you looked at his stats from last week, not that great. Last week he was amazing. He got the absolute shit kicked out of him. Yeah. For four quarters, 9 sacks plus two that didn't count because the delay of games. And never seem phased. Never seem rattled. That close to second compared to Sal is Keanu Reeves in the replacements. Especially in that last game, when the offensive line collapsed, and the footsteps falco nickname was about he just wouldn't be the third he kept coming. But the calmness for somebody who hadn't really been in that situation before, except for college. And this is something we talk about because I don't watch college you do, but about how does that translate if you come through on this big stage in college, does that translate to the pros or not? And it's all over the map. It doesn't seem to really matter. There's no right answer. But in his case, it's very reminiscent of what he looked like in college. And they get, well, plus they gave him a terrible situation with a miserable offensive line. They couldn't protect him. It sacked 51 times this year. Sacked a billion. It would have been a billion last year if he lasted the season. And again, he really like broken and just made the most of everything and was like mahomes asked. I can't say enough about him and it wasn't even like chase had a great game, like these guys like tea reagans. By the way, T Higgins looks like he was like 6 ten today. Did he grow 6 inches? Like, I remember when it was like 19 years old. They didn't seem this big. A year and a half ago. But he looked like a tight end. Well, when I was growing up, the first quarterback the Pats ever had was Jim plunket. They took first in the draft. And they couldn't they didn't have an offensive line farm to get the shit kicked out of them. And ended up he was at a football by like 1977, 78 ended up back in the Raiders rehab themselves and ended up taking the Super Bowl. But there's been these stories over the years that these guys who got the shit kicked out of them. And that was it. Derek Carr's brother. So another one. But Archie Manning always heard this about him when we were growing up. Right. Burr got the shit kicked out of him, and it didn't seem to affect him at all. At all, it actually seemed like he somehow gained confidence from all the punishment and figured out how to become like a fucking John Wick Jedi in the pocket. It was impressive. Yeah, you figure, okay, a team that got sacked in a quarterback guy got sacked 9 times in a playoff game. Like, okay, even if there were just lucky enough to win that, they're gonna have to get stopped the next week, right? Or the next week? Like, my God, this team is and we know, we'll know, we'll guess the line and 40 minutes or whatever. But they can win this, they can win the whole thing. This is so crazy. So nice. We talked about that we like this theme. I never liked them to the point that I thought they were going to make a Super Bowl, but they had moments. There is that what was it that chargers game and they were down 24 nothing? And they kept fighting back. There's a moment today. First of all, they got that touchdown before the last minute of the first half, right? It could have been 21 three. They drove.

"Duarte. Just they just said fuck it. We'll take a duarte. He's got good stuff bringing him in. We got rick carlisle. He's proven two thousand eleven title winner. Who hasn't won a playoff series since. But we're back baby here. We go his tenure droughts over I it feels like there's some sort of trade brewing with them to that to bring up trades again but brogden or turner. I they honestly if i said brought as bet your life brogden turner will be on the pacers next year. Would you bet your life on that. I would not rule turner's been available for about a decade and that was one of the things when the celtics everybody got mad at him for not doing the turner deal yet. When they were gonna lose hayward i didn't get the celtics asked everybody else hair you interested in turner and the entirely was like no. We know he's he's been available forever. So if you guys it doesn't mean just 'cause you're down trading of that we're gonna wanna trade for him because we could already traded with the pacers yet. We're thinking about that. Pacers rosters lynn. It's right i i do kinda like it. I mean it's not challenging anybody but You know the carol part of it's kind of changes who brogden is tj coming back. You know he's gonna be remembered. That looked like jerry west in the playoffs there for little stretch last year. So and then you have some bonus who. You've heard rumblings all the time but you know it looked a lot of rumblings never really lead anything so i don't think your point is invalid by any stretch. I just like the duarte. Almost any situation could be plugged in 'cause he bust his ass using engaged on every possession is any player that i watch in college this year every possession. He was trying to figure out a way to to make it work. Whether it was with the ball off the ball constantly cutting all that stuff he such an easy plug and play guy on top. Just the shooting number see. He's he's one of those guys who could be you a success anywhere like you said right. It's very much unlike we talked about and their earlier. Pod the guys drafted around him younger guys. Primo don't know if it's going to be a fit for him. In certain situations jalen johnson thought saw him fall. Twenty with atlanta. Actually kind of life. That pick i mean. He's a loser in the sense that he fell to atlanta all the way to twenty instead of being top. Got but you know. But the fact is is that he gets trae young pick and roll partner and he also had a great quote tonight. He said jalen john. He was asked about who he himself to. He says jaylen johnson. I'm in the league now. So that's who. I compare myself too but there's a lot of guys i looked up to. Of course lebron. Ben simmons those bigger playmaking guards jalen johnson fan. Now third person quote. I'm always a big fan of those ou- out loud..

"We'll show you yes. You don't understand us. Just spiting me hall. Draft twitter With the spurs i wondered did they have intel dow like oh kc or somebody like that would have taken. Primo had they moved down because there was opportunities to move down and yes away. Still get primo. Like i wonder. What was the intel. Cas with primo. I got it like twenty five to thirty range out of very happy to draft primo raw player. Who can shoot threes. Maybe turns into something for you but number twelve. I i just come away. Incredibly shocked that the spurs weren't able to find a trade down to gain more value within this drafts. We know what the trade was. We know the knicks were offering nineteen and twenty one to everybody to try to get duarte so basically they took primo over having the nineteenth and twenty one picks that if they just had those picks you know they could've taken out kion johnson and garuba or they could've taken camp thomas and gruber earn just that's at ti assets. That's no it's it's a great point by both d because even if you look primo and we all ended up being wrong because look we're all of us are wrong all the time. We're trying to project these guys and it's impossible you cannot. You can be really good at you. Be terrible at it. But you're never gonna be fucking perfect. all right. how could you not have the intel the nowhere. The primo market started. Yeah i mean unless you know look i. It doesn't mean we know everything but to know that the knicks were throwing those who picks around and they did it anyway to go in a different direction. I just like were you afraid somebody in the teens was gonna grab primo z. Yeah now prestige probably another loser staff and drain clay. 'cause they probably were thinking they were adding the final pieces to the puzzle and instead they have kamenga who's about as project is gets and then moses moody who's nineteen years old to is probably a little closer to playing than coming up in a playoff series but unless those pixar for trade assets. I guess we're gonna well. I guess we'll find out A winner though is golden state fake trades. I'll be on the trade machine. And i guess the communal roses moody that is like a bad signal for. We're getting bradley beal or daimler. I'm sorry you guys. I i first picks tonight. You're like all right. Shade mean lowery all right. Well that's nine. I that tickets six. That's somebody else. And i'd be like i. I don't think we'll let every. Are you come out of writing. Atar retirement with twenty two and a half warriors traits. Maybe that that could get me. It's so i sing stupid question. Disconnect is number choice impact your decision on him as a prospect. What did he pick double zero really. And i know that. I kinda liked that. I gotta be honest. I like it. Listen i'll be following mind. Greens lead with kamenga. I'll be very carefully reading. All the green quotes it heading into the preseason during the preseason The warriors have probably more leaks all over the place than just about anybody with which just to have. Good relationships is different reporters. And there will be the quotes. They'll be out there will know we'll know pretty early and now in another winner kevin cart just wanted to mention him. More time and orlando draft finally went well. Another winner shops sarunas. Seems like he kinda went right at woche tonight. Toe to toe it was. I don't give me an analogy russillo. What was like a huge underdog just punches. The eighteen choke at some point. I'm sorry but i've trained in the woods camp and we don't we just. We don't shops all right richard stone. We don't worry about competition. Tennessee was dead even tonight right. It seemed like it when we were recording live. I wasn't sure who got it first but certainly seem close tonight. Wayne road and shops in shaanxi. Got the west portrayed before rose to the did tonight. It's pretty good Joy of joy coming out of youtube tonight. I just let competition competitions february loser sacramento as much as i liked mitchell. This my immediate reaction was what the fuck and now. We're two hours later. And it's has not changed. I just don't i think look. I don't think you should draft for need. But i think at some point if your roster doesn't fit a player it's kind of responsible to draft the player. They already had the two guards to have right and I don't know. I still feel like this to be as a pick you make when you know you have some other move coming and maybe it's fox and healed together. Who would that before casey. I mean we talked about the ben simmons idea earlier. Bradley beal bigger. Yeah throw that in. The damage goes back. Listen it's a lot of time over the years trying to figure out what the hell is going sacramento in today's yet another night. I have no idea what they're doing i. I can't wait to find out what they do at fox at some point if they're just like hey we think the new inefficiency is three ball. Handlers out there. At all times we've studied the league. And this is where we think the league's descru- defense you know doesn't yeah forgets zone and we're just gonna beat everybody We're spread out and it's just going to be constant into bagley protect the rim another winner tonight. I thought the way davis davis saw absurd in restricted free agent. So possibility somebody throws a number adam so there you go. They through the qualifying offer. One him they flip jackson too. I feel like burke who they flip them for For aaron holiday in the thirty first pick. oh i'm gonna make them a double in our love. Aaron holiday that good player so who they get a who they get for. Thirty one isaiah. Todd i believe was the picket thirty one hour. I i still. I stand by them. Being winter i've as you guys both though. I've lived there in holiday for a couple of years in nevada waiting for him to Do steffl anyway They got rid of westbrook. Dad the trader i with walls contract together got the first back. Got some rotation guys and at least they can make an honest effort with bradley. Beal goal for them russillo. At least make the bradley beal thing not self combust before like february at least keep the car on the highway for another couple months. Can we just check into the reality hotel here for a second. And there's no way that beal was like fifty fifty on his future with the wizards then saw tonight and went seventy thirty. I'm in bill's decision about the wizards about beal. What's it like if you were going to be a guy that hey we don't have enough around me. This is bullshit. He would earn forces trade out if he was mad about about. I don't think it has the trade to make. i just. Don't think any of this stuff which i agree with you. I love the holiday part of it. I don't think we're doubling down on something. Like i look at that deal and go. Wait isaiah jocks but now you got it holiday and now you have a little bit more depth especially like i wasn't sure about air when he's coming out and honestly he's impressed me more and more every time i watched them so i actually would say like that addition but i don't think the decision i think the lesson should be in that as i've been kinda hearing in saying all along that he's way more content with the situation the outside world seems to think so i don't know that there's any addition or he'll look at the depth chart tomorrow go all right now. I want to do the extension. He may wanna do the extent just because he wants to do the extension and get the five years a year from now anyway. I was taking more addition by subtraction implant a second year westbrook on a pretty flawed team. That if they started out slow again and you worry about his trade value kind of what happened with heart and a little bit with the nets were the trade value. Couldn't quite get where they wanted to get. Now it's like they'll be fine right. They'll be somewhere between six and nine in the east at least for the first part of the season and they kicked me way. I gotta wait is as much as we all agree on kind. Who westbrook is. He was a big part of that push towards the end of the year. You know he was. And that's like that next the plane a bunch of bad teams though. I don't know while. I thought i'm and you still wouldn't let it happen now. I listen we have a westbrook. Good a a pissy about westbrook off. I don't know who wins between us. We joked once about doing a segment. On a sunday pod were. We would both select the other team. The other guys like worst possible starting five and then we actually back and forth as whoever gets the number one pick but yeah it's almost fair westbrook cassidy off the thirty over lewis. New walk. Quite slip whispered hasta discern I d- so kfc based on what happened tonight. Give me a trade date for bradley beal. We're doing bradley beal office pool and you had to pick and there's big money at stake. What date would you pick Whatever is what like mid january. A couple dates a couple of weeks before the trade deadline february night there. Yeah so sort of along those lines because like ryan said there's a chance this it just doesn't happen like my understanding is bill is happy. Living in washington is family as happy living there yet. He he wants to be there. It's just a matter of of the wizards can be good enough for him to want to be there. And and i think the deals. I think it really could be addition by subtraction because of the flaws with russell westbrook and addition to that they made tonight. I like. What the wizards did this entire day. I'm not sure how good they'll be. But i'm not sure how good they were with with russell. Westbrook and the rest of that flawed roster. All right we got a flat through these winners and losers his nephew kyle for some reason. Book the red eye to go back east tonight at midnight. So we have probably a half hour left of this pod max. A of history knicks fans poor spike lee. How many times can you go to the draft and get excited about a pack and then they trade it but nobody in the building knows it just over and over again. I it sucks. It's happening patriot fans. Kfc and i can attest over and over again where it's like all right we're up. Oh we're not up. We just traded back picks so the knicks did that twice. You learn to trust the patriots. Though the knicks fans don't have that they don't have the same chassis here The spurs did have the same trust with their fans. But now i have them in losers category. I think this is the summer of a with pop team. Usa yikes at least so far and then Just primo pick tonight. Russillo did a double take. I wonder if we have that on video. You thought i was kidding. You did come on the back. Yeah you did like your through back. You're like looking around for tv. Like josh premium. You cannot believe it twenty two would have been too high for him you. I just liked other guards. I just did In a lot of these guys played against each other to. Yeah oh like you go through. Jane's bring earn eight. No sharieff cooper was a really weird player and it's it seems like it's funny. How sometimes your instincts in your god on a player like i don't know man i don't know and then talking to people and then the draft lays out that night and you're like oh you know maybe got reaction about a guy like sheriff cooper's right because his shot is a mess like maybe the worst shot of any perimeter player that you're hoping to depend on but so you know back to the primo thing. We have games and games. We have all these. Sec lee games a watching him not even look like he's close to these other players and the spurs went ahead and did it. I do think it's a really interest. 'cause they were. They were the standard. They were the ones that found everybody. They were the ones that did the stuff that nobody else would do when they were right. All the time and you know for them to have a bad roster now after like a twenty year run. I'm not going to get on their case about it. But i don't think they've been great with the drafting they don't have a lot of assets anybody would be excited about and i think the pop thing that could get really interesting one day you know becky ham and still hasn't gotten a job if pop steps down they have to give her the head coaching gig right and yeah that goes. It'll be really weird if they're like actually we're not doing that so there's there's a lot of a third. We've hired stan gundy. Sorry we're we're going. We're taking a fake Kfc is possible. They didn't take schengen just because every mock draft then taking schengen and they were like no..

"I moved down spot. And okay see is in the spot. And they're taking bart's and good luck the okay with that trade your that i like it i mean for okay see. I wonder about it because it opens the door to a lot of questions. Can you the dislike the offensive kind of fluidity of like barnes door che. Poku insert any via whatever. Your team. I don't know all these. Am have you just take him and you assume things you just kind of go from there. Nothing really set in stone. Throw casey anyway. So i guess there might even it's pointless to think about it when you're not fitting with something that makes sense to begin with. I well the good news is orlando on the clock now again at six when coming arrange tried to talk me out of this. Kfc in the draft guide caused tantalizing. Athlete tantalizing some veal. Chop stan is nicely cooked Talk me out of committee at six because potential upside wise. It's about as good as it gets. And i'm orlando go nowhere. Why would i throw dart at the dartboard. Hope i hit with a franchise player. You might wanna shock creator instead. An james book night with kamanga everything. We just talked about with barnes with the concerns about the lack of a shot. You could say with barnes. It's a little bit with coming. It's a little bit different. It's the lack of feel for the game at the stage of his career at the lack of actual evidence of what the potential is emmy. We've seen flashes of being a shock creator. We've also seen it'd be a ball stopper inefficient outside shooter..

"He's not a zero by his only two more years on that deal to end. Where's he from canada. that's fun. come on sharks. I'm here to take contract. I'm telling you that right now. Given the assets to get that on my book come on sexton. then you don't want Wiggins what's wrong with you. We just thirty one point five next year and thirty three point six the year after i was trying to think is there a way. Toronto could get basically seven fourteen wiggins. Stay at four but then try to or basic. Try to figure out how they could end up with. Bogeying sucks is like what whatever they had to trade where that's like the last two assets they'd have standing. I don't think it's possible to i try. I try to figure it up the two guys. They actually want it. Seems like our jalen. Suggs and scotty barnes. And there's like some little know josh katie rumblings. I don't think that's real from the more spot. But maybe if they were at seven or fourteen were talking there but like how much are we factoring in. Kyle lowry's future with this decision number four. How much are we factoring in the very real ben simmons interests as well with the decision. That's made there. Because if you want ben simmons and if you're going for ben simmons with young players future picks or whatever. Maybe you're not taking scotty barnes and the city jalen suggs like. How much is that a consideration. He came to see. I think that's really important. Because i think if you're toronto if you draft suggs at four he's gonna positive value in a year. 'cause he's going to be a winning player on a playoff team with two ability and you can say. Here's your young star for ben simmons. We've developed him. He's doing really well. He's like s. J all of a sudden sox's so to me like you draft sudden say in a year i can trade suggs and picks for almost anybody basically is what i'm thinking. I think that's important because suggs fits he plugs and plays with toronto's roster based on what i've looked at and thought about i mean he he is going to be ready to play for them next year. My opinion like he's he's just readies. Its smart tough player. And i think he's going to be a two way player and yeah agree agree with the trucks. I think he's going to be a good asset in the near future. He's very raptors e. My guess. Is they let lowry go. And they just take sucks and they just annoyed suggs as the lowry successor. What i still haven't figured out. What lower price ranges. Because people do this they now or they just assume every team can sign everybody no matter what. Their cap situation lakers. Though they're going to get chris paul is like how. There's no possible way. They're gonna get chris paul unless they talk somebody to take schreuder. And you know. Casey p or coups ma like. She's not realistic with With lowry you know. The knicks are the team that have the cap space for them. I do think that knicks are going to be heard from the chris. Paul thing there's been a lot of rumblings about are we positive..

"He. He developed a relationship with bob eiger when disney and that was how ended up on tv. 'cause aggregates loved him rarely sends notes An either sent a note to tv guys like can we put chauncey on tv and i think he just had like a friendship that they built because he thought johnson had like a special quality. So chauncey comes on does. Tv and you know. He wasn't great on tv because he was so measured And so thoughtful. Which isn't really how it works when you're doing a studio show and you got the hands go and the whole thing but when you're in the room with that dude as us as russillo said there's a real presence to him and it's a hard thing to explain but especially like you're in those rooms. You're doing the meeting and whatever and it goes around. People say what they think. And there was a thoughtfulness to him and a leadership piece to him. That was just really interesting to experience and it was like the whole chauncey they made sense to me like why that pistons stein that was so goofy radio rasheed. Who's a loose cannon. You ben wallace. Who's you know at. That point was hall of famer favor. Ben wallace wallace's rebounding maniac. He got rips. Gotta get his shots. Tashaun you gotta basically pull out him giving a shit and really trying to assert himself offensively And then on top of it. Larry brown whose a maniac and chauncey was the rudder to that team. You know it just made sense spending a couple times of them doing. Tv razek it. So i think that'll be a great choice. you know. I covered him his rookie year at the celtics and he wasn't there one. It was quick fifty games. I took him to lunch. I think i was working for sports illustrated at the time i took him to launch. It was one of the most remarkable interviews. I've ever done and i'm not gonna. We had a conversation about something that i later said to him. I don't think you should say that. I think it would hurt you. If you say this and i didn't i just liked him so much. He was young he. Was you know energetic at it. So years later i mean i forgot about is years later as i watched him grow. And you went. T- reminded me a steve nash. A little bit. You just felt like if you could just get in the right place. It was gonna be gangbusters. You know steve nash. Member early on people forget how much he struggled early on in his career. And i felt the same way about chauncey and just in terms the leadership was there the intelligence was there digest but disfiguring it out like your story. Ryan is perfect. That's cianci bill in a nutshell. And i think this team could use everything that chauncey billips has so i guess i'm like running a poster campaign for him right now in this podcast. Well and he also he got the experience to where that was the rub on him as like well. He has done it now. Natta hadn't done it before. Doc rivers senate done it before but i think chauncey was smart enough to talk to different people and say oh. I got to actually put in some some bench reps. I got see this before. I actually take this on. I want to offer up another name. Potential head coach kyrie irving. We know these young guys and this team maybe hugs after every game. Maybe can get robin williams to play more than a quarter right. Hook came after he stopped on the leopards. See us galore great because he you kyri. Thanks for kicking our ass. But that's the that's the world today. Like i think kyrie irving players respect him so much because he is such a gifted player and he really is. I mean he's got the most incredible handle and that's players care about guys. You know this kyle. You know you've covered the long enough. That's what players care about. They care about street. Cred and see and kyrie irving has basketball street cred. What is the least likely brad. Stevens higher jason kidd mark jackson. Oh god marquette catholic no backed jason kidd. I can't i. I know i suppose it's possible i mean would they feels to me like there has to be a name attached as why again. I think chauncey makes sense. You're talking about the idea of of a diversity hire me. There's great like darvin ham to me. I would someday someone should very soon. Someone should darvin ham choy a chance. He's really good coach and he commands instant respect also. It's just not a big name. You know david vanterpool. We've heard that name many times. The other one and again is his name came up again. Because i just did the story. Donovan johnny bryant. Who worked with with donna that the jazz is now the associate head coach in new york. He is very well respected. Heard the same thing right can so i mean like he's someone that's just but but i don't think that's like just knowing the celtics the way i do like it feels to me like if you're gonna do this you've gotta get someone that's has some name recognition. I might be wrong. Can spare bill come in here for a second so l. cianci's cianci's a leading candidate which i think we we all think who is his best friend in the world you. I don't have chemical that. Oh oh that's created. A state could k. g. Come in as like adviser to brad stevens or whatever could they gave him some ceremonial thing just to get in the front office but more importantly just to kind of be around the team because that was what was supposed to happen minnesota and then they fucked that up right k. k. g. seems like he's i dunno in limbo and what his next career thing is and could kgb a piece of that of billups involved. Because i do feel like that's a possibility. And he was the first one to get on the mall for stomping on the logo. He did not like that. He made that clear. So that would be the first order of business. I'm guessing. hey you know. Just don't step out. The local it there would have been there would have been a speech for grant williams. Hey grant feel free to hit one of these dudes on drive. Feel free to not kyri down once or you know. Same thing for Who's who's the starting center. That robert williams the who but tristan thompson hatred. Then feel free to throw an elbow at somebody. Like we're off series. Tristan thompson played with kyrie. Irving won a championship wooden. You know he's not gonna do that. I just think that toughness has to be a piece of wherever the celtics thing goes. 'cause it was the softest celtics team of any good team i've.

"Go to ziprecruiter dot com right now to sign up absolutely free and put ziprecruiter to work for you ziprecruiter. The smartest way to hire ryan. We both feel like this. It's actually unfair to say. And she now he blew it. Because i do feel like and this is not making excuses because i don't think you can excuse any of the offseason in two thousand eighteen. I think it's an f minus looking back those fix They didn't trade up. They didn't use any leverage to try to even move up one spot or two spots and then the kemba thing and not realizing horford was gonna leave all that stuff but before that everything they did was leading to the super team. They had built. That on. paper was incredible where they had tatum and brown rookie contract. They had smart on an awesome contract and then they had the cap space in the draft. Pick capital to go get somebody awesome and they did. They got kyrie irving that trade was great. They still had enough space to get another free agent. Whoever that was on paper all the stuff made sense. I think they had bad luck. With kyrie and i think You know the davis signing with clutch was the other murder right. Clutch was never send davison. Celtics one those. Two things happened All the sudden it went away fast. But i really think like up to two thousand eighteen. That's one of the better front office jobs we've had in the last ten years russillo. You agree with that right. Yeah i mean this. Anti bullshit is so out of control now. The fact that he's no longer in charge of. I have no problem. They needed to change. Everybody wanted to move on figures from new things out. I have no issue with. I'm not sitting here like enraged at age is out of a job but the way he has discussed is so incredibly incomplete and at times just inaccurate that it it blows my mind and i think a lot of it has to do with just this anti boston. Phased were in now in its. It's been stronger more so for lotteries in the last couple of years but when you go through the track record of stuff right so fine we'll go all the way through the garnett deal and pulling that off because he pulled that off because of relationship all right so. It's one finals win. Two finals appearances. The two thousand nineteen was the best team of any of those three years. And then cagey gets hurt. So you're in position to compete for title for three straight years. They looked like they're rebuilding. Right as they get rid of cagey and pierce in this absurd trade. That never should've happened and while they're supposedly rebuilding. Isaiah thomas comes in and another trade where he flees somebody and they're actually competing. They may have been one of the worst one seeds i've ever seen. But that's kind of been my point where people look at the more years ago. While they can't breakthrough they can't breakthrough was like. When did you ever think any of these. Threes conference finals team. Were that great. They got smashed by the cavs the year isaiah and those guys beat washington. When i can't believe the wizards loss at series they lose to lebron game seven when kyrie doesn't even show up to the arena and you've got like basically teenagers out there running around and then last year against miami like yeah. I could have gone either way but i looked at that series of like. I feel like miami's the better team now another part of this. Why do people keep saying nets. Trade didn't really do anything. Are you kidding yeah. I mean other than tatum and brown. Okay akerson ranch is for a decade other than those two guys you're right. They didn't get anything in that tree. And when you look at the fact that the other pick was the sexton pick that was the kyri trade to trade drake jay crowder isaiah thomas zuerich and the eighth pick and colin sexton. For even two years of kyrie. There was a disaster. Everybody would do that. Trade so that also helps you get another asset but this is where i think the kyri part of it is important because they were still they were convinced kyrie was staying in kyrie can do whatever he wants but he was definitely made it nastier by being like i'm staying i'm staying. And they were willing to like trade. I think at one point. The anthony davis deal. Which you you write bill as soon as he was with clutch. There's no way. Anthony davis signs with clutches. Like oh by the way. I'm not gonna go to la and help out lebron and yet she doesn't like boston he was never going to end up there. Even if it wasn't lebron factor in la. So the other part of this. You can't have it both ways discussion. Which i'm still just blown away by is that you wanted age to put all these chips in because you didn't feel like he did it enough all right. He did it with kyrie kyrie bail. That's fine so does that mean that you would have rather. He had also done for. Anthony davis because that trade could have happened like would you have wanted take because if you say like oh they should have traded for. They should have traded for this guy. I'd rather have guys for at least seven years than somebody who may not be here in two. And when you're running the celtics you have to worry about that. And how desirable the city is so. When i hear people say they should have done this. They should've done that. They should have done this requi- then that means then you think they also should have tasted traded tatum or jalen brown for anti davis because that shows that aims at least is willing to go for it and that's just stupid when you say it out loud well and the other you left out two things that he did that were great. I mean you said all the guidance. I still have more stuff you out to things you left out. They had the first pick in the draft and he's smartly assessed. That tatum was the best guy in the draft which gets no credit for either way. I don't know if there are three. Gm's that would have had the balls to have done it. Because he has to rant. He was he would have taken. Seven foltz was absolutely the consensus number. One guy so usually. Gm's are like. Look if i if. I get weird with this. If foltz doesn't work out. Then at least i can say hey. Everybody had them number one. That's what gm's are gonna do. The carolina anthony towns. Zingers thing that i've always said there were millions at thought. Process was right there. With karl anthony towns. It's but at present is a bust. I'm fired if towns is a bus..

Philadelphia 76ers agree to trade Josh Richardson to Dallas Mavericks for Seth Curry, per report
"Today. Just now josh. Richardson was traded by the sixers to the mavericks at a thirty six. Pick with richardson for sets cari and richardson's kind of one of those guys that just happened now according to coach and you know an elder reporters but The tyrod terry moves into this at curry spot into the south carolina. Spot right into but richardson is one of those types of guys. That were sort of talking about here right. I mean like. I think you would want knee smith to grow into that type of role and hopefully get better on defense. Maybe not a guy who was handling a lot for you but can here and there That that would be the long term goal for him. But i'm not so sure that the ball handling ability is there but if it is it's never going to be at a high level he's always going to be a shooter for you and if he can shoot a heck of a lot better than richardson. While being good on defense. That'd be a really nice player but there's a lot of questions though.
NBA Big Board: Kevin O'Connor
"Kevin O'Connor the ringer housing ranked number one on his big board. I can't find any teams that have in there. But I'd love that Kevin did that I I like thinking outside the box I think he makes some really good arguments about why Hayes. Could be that Guy I. Don't think that we're going to see him go a number one and I'm not sure that we'll see I don't think we'll see him go in the top three, but he's fair game. Pretty much anywhere after that and again much like in tires Halliburton's case it little bit I the beholder. He's got off so many strengths going for him and I the big thing that you hear when you talk. To Scouts about Killian haze over and over again is just they love how much he has improved his game how much he's worked on his game how he shown up and become a much better player over time and when you look at young players, you wanna see them evolving. You WanNa see them growing. You want to see them adding to their game and there's just been so much. Of that for Kilian Hayes this year that if you want to talk yourself into Hayes, you talk yourself into now that he faces NBA level competition. What sort of things and wrinkles is he going to add to his game? How is he going to adapt and how much better could he be down the road because he's got the size excels with a ball in his hands he's. Really committed defender he's got hike. He's a high character player. You know that lack of like elite burst or balance is is an issue He's left hand drama net that's an issue is shooting a looks gray. It doesn't always go in and you know he shot around thirty. Thirty percent from the field from three point on this year. But he was eighty seven percent a free throw shooter I think for. He might not be the first international player off. Off The board? Because I denny Adia is is a possibility to go ahead of him, but he's definitely going to be one of the top two international players off the board and right now having ranked slightly higher than Denny.
Markey fends off Kennedy in Massachusetts Senate primary that divided Democrats
"Joe Kennedy. The third loses Democratic Primary Challenge of Massachusetts Senator Edward Markey. By Steve Leblanc for the Associated Press in Boston. US, Senator Edward Markey of Massachusetts defeated. US Representative Joe Kennedy. The third in Tuesday's hard-fought Democratic primary harnessing support from progressive leaders to overcome a challenge from a younger rival. WHO's a member of America's most famous political family. It was the first time. A Kennedy has lost a race for Congress in Massachusetts Marquis. Appeal to voters in the deeply democratic state by positioning himself as aligned with the liberal wing of the party he teamed up with a leading Progressive New York representative Alexandria Cossio. The thirty nine year old congressman sought to cast the seventy four year old marquis as someone out of touch after spending decades in Congress I in the House before moving to the Senate Kennedy said Tuesday night that the results aren't the ones he'd hoped for but pledged to work for Markey's reelection. The senator is a good man. You never heard me say, otherwise Kennedy told supporters at an outdoor rally. Kennedy also suggested that the movement of supporters the campaign pulled together would continue past the current election. We may have lost the final vote count tonight but we built a coalition that will endure. He said I would do this again with all of you in a heartbeat. In, the waning weeks of the campaign Kennedy leaned into his family's long political legacy in Massachusetts his pedigree includes former president John F. Anthony Davis Has Room to Grow
"GonNa Focus on the Lakers, which as an editor is near and dear to my heart because sharks picked the biggest red meat team on on on the table here. But they've been really impressive with us are there to one and Anthony Davis looks like probably the best player in the bubble thus far chunks. Why don't you leaders us through some of the things that have been happening with Lakers why think for the record this is called the impossibly good-looking persons corner just clarify. For. Their how dare sir? Okay so we're looking at the Lakers thing to me that's jumped out in the first three games is how they're playing when Anthony Davis playing without Lebron on. So that was been their biggest problem. All season is those non Lebron ad minutes because he idea was. Okay. If you have a D- then Lebron can rest he can get. His breaking it as time off, and they'll still be fine. But before the restart when eighty was out of the Ron, he was minus three and five, hundred, six, hundred minutes as those are important minutes Lakers have to win in the restart I mean obviously is a very small sample size but who cares where we're doing podcasts in the restart their plus night. Eighties playing without Lebron. That's just a massive flip on their whole situation and to me watching those minutes was set out to me I think number one. Not Having region Rondo. I think that really kind of low key killed their team because when rondos playing he has to have the ball right like Rondo can't play off the ball Swiss hole in the ball he's not really a threat to score someone's really guarding him and then on defense that giving you much either so like Alex the numbers when ad and Rondo without Lebron it was minus five and without Rondo they're playing Caruso and waiters with a d the floor is spread and the thing. Anthony. Davis. You don't need a traditional point guard Anthony, Davis give eighty the ball in the mid postals kill people right? He gets the ball then it kicks shooter instead of the Rondo. So it's like ADP without Rondo back great and the other thing too is eighty at the five. So they're going eighty Kuzma than like Greener Casey Caruso waiters whatever. Eighty s numbers at the five the year are insane. They're absolutely ridiculous. So cab. Looking at that with no Devellano Dwight Eighty has a usage of twenty eight shooting of Sixty six point six. Now base that means in English as eighties in the ball, like he's hardener Jaanus and he's been the most efficient player in the league. So if looking at those two numbers, there's only been one player in NBA history that had to be that efficient at that. High usage not staff like five years ago. So basically, when eighties at the five, he does a established about shooting threes he's basically scoring at will every single time I think long story short eighty more room to grow I. Think we're seeing that right now like leading a d. plan space given him the ball he's got levels still the go to get into them right now. Yeah I. So the biggest thing off of that, which was great I just wonder if their margin for error is too thin right now obviously the Lakers have been incredible. So let's get that caveat out of the way I think probably favorite if not among the favorites for the title. People like to remind us on the group Chat specifically Chris Because I don't think sharks was. One I remember that yeah. Where we pretty much we troll the Lakers after their first loss of the season and. Venture like the succeed but clearly, they've they've far exceeded those expectations. Great. Please don't ask me. But I do wonder as bad as Rondo has been at times. As much as Bradley is the fifth most important guy on that starting lineup at times I do wonder if the margin for error is a little bit more thin and you are relying on the cruise of the world on the Casey Visa, the world more than you would like to my wrong rob now I mean I'm I'm pretty compelled by this whole situation that sharks laid out like the idea of shifting some of those pieces around and unlocking ad in a different way like makes logical sense to me given his skill set this is. The Guy, who can you know Kevin O'Connor talked in in the restart this week about how? Bam. Out of Bio Converts Defenses Ad in the mid post has a similar effect where if you clear out, you give him space and a straight line drive past almost any big in the league like that's such a powerful thing that there should be a way to orient pieces around that. Make Sense I. Think I get skeptical is in that margin for error and it's in, you know if you look at kind of the core of these lineups. AD and CAL Kuzma, and Alice Caruso or kind of the three man anchor of it and in around that, there's a revolving door of guards. You got some Danny Green minutes you get some dion waiters minutes he gets JR Smith gets in Casey ep you got whoever they cobbled together in that minute in the rotation at those guys scare the hell out of me a little bit and I think you know when you flashback to eighty as a Pelican and where he was some of where they fell apart without drew. Holiday on the floor without kind of more traditional point guards on the floor which just not having competent entry passers not having guys who could get a d. the ball in positions to score, which is it seems like such an easy thing. But the thing I don't trust dion waiters to do but it is a thing. Maybe I do trust Danny Green to do it. You know like some of these more professional veteran level guys like that distinction I think is an important one and probably the difference between bubble seating. Games bubble playoff games, right where you're getting Jr's and the demons at least lower in the pecking order if not out of the rotation on a regular basis entirely, and then you're looking at these minutes where it's you know, Danny Green Casey P. and those guys and cannot work I. Think I. Think there's a chance that it does but I do get a little bit suspect just in the sense that once playoff defenses are really keying in on what this lineup look like and how it works what does that? Mean deep because you know Jaanus has had that scrutiny in terms of a big who handles the ball who's creating for space lineups like we know what that looks like in defense is know what that looks like defensive kind of just been dealing with these Lakers lineups without Lebron floor all year haven't had a lot of trouble with them, but they haven't hammered them either in terms of the the mechanics of how they work. If this starts working, then you invite that level of
Why Deadhead Logs Are So Rare and Valuable (w/ Kevin OConnor) and Why Traveling Makes You Tired
"When you think about buried treasure. You probably don't think about trees ends lumber and yet dead logs are sought after because they could make you rich if you're willing to risk your life for them today to share the story is Kevin O'Connor who set of the Emmy me winning home improvement series this old house. He just wrapped the first season of his new podcast clear story which sheds light on the surprising stories behind our homes and today Kevin joins us with a brief history of dead head logs. Starting with what happened when European colonists I arrived in America hundreds of years ago when when the colonists I got here they were looking for resources and there were abundant resources. It was Virgin growth forest here in this continent Literally a billion acres of this continent of this country covered in trees and for better for worse we harvested them pretty aggressively throughout the seventeen and eighteen hundreds And in the process we took some magnificent supplies eastern white pines signs that were two hundred feet tall straight as an arrow that had been growing for one hundred years and were forty feet around we harvested them in mass those northern northern forests of Minnesota that we ship down the Great Lakes. We clear cut him. We cleaned MINNESOTA. We clear. Cut Him in Maine New Hampshire and in that process because of the era we would cut the trees down in the winter when the ground was frozen and then we get an ox to pull them across a C and snowy paths. Because how else would you move them through the mud and dirt did it. When the ground was slippery yes stack them up on the banks of rivers which were frozen but when the spring came and the snow melted and the rivers rose? You could float the logs from MINNESOTA DOWN TO CHICAGO OR FROM MAINE DOWN TO BOSTON and float him right up to the mills which were along rivers. You'd bring him in chop them up. And it was the heyday of timbering and logging in this this country. And while millions of these things made it from the forest to the mills thousands or hundreds of thousands got stuck along the way and they went to the bottom of Rivers rivers and is a weird thing. That happens when a piece of wood. Big Tree full-size goes to the bottom of a river. It is preserved like like I don't know what in from out of the died a frog and formaldehyde for science there preserved perfectly and they sit there for hundreds of years and now with the virgin forests. All gone all all this Beautiful slow growth timber all gone. There's only one place to get. It gets at the bottom of rivers and their guys who put on snorkel gear scuba gear and they will dive down into black murky rivers. They will literally list risk their lives and we talked to guys who get pinned under logs that way hundreds of pounds or rushed to the hospital because they got bit by poisonous trying to get this stuff but when they get it it's treasure they bring it up and it's beautiful and it could be five hundred or a thousand or two thousand years old and when you slice into it you're the first person to ever use it and see it and it's remarkable so it's rare it's coveted did and if you can find it you can sell it for a whole bunch of Dow because people really really want. Okay so what makes this stuff. So valuable depends on who you ask. I think if you talked to norm Abram who was our master carpenter on a shell legendary carpenter He will tell you it was the beautiful all in unique color of it and also the stability you know if the tree grew for five hundred years in the forest it grew very slowly slowly and we know that means that the rings are closer together which means the rain is tighter and that gives the woods stability and it's very difficult today because things go very fast and we force it and we farm it so he will tell you. It's that unique color the beauty as well as stability. I would argue with them a little a bit. Those things certainly are incredibly important but I think today the most important thing is it has story if you can sit there in your house talking to a guest or friend or even if you had to sell the idea to your spouse and you can point to this thing and say that lumber. I was here when Christopher Columbus showed up it went to the bottom of a river at the heyday of the logging industry. In this country it was was pulled up by a crazy guy a scuba tank and then we sliced through the Cyprus and Carter all the way up here to put it in the floor of this house you got yourself a story and you got yourself just a an invaluable thing. That's what our houses are there. Things that make us feel comfortable. They are the things that we like to show off. There are things that we like to share in that it it just it checks all the boxes right. You're making me really want one. Don't you want one. I could put you into a thousand year old piece of Cypress for eighty bucks a board foot. I'll get back to you on that. That would again. That was Kevin O'Connor his new podcast is called clear story and all ten episodes of the first season are available for you to listen to right now. Find Clear history wherever you listen to podcasts or look for Lincoln. Today's show notes. We got a listener question from Samuel in London. Who Asks? WHAT DO I get super tired after extremely only long car trips or train writes most of the time? I'm just sitting down doing nothing or sleeping but I still always become super tired. Can you please explain. Why Great Question Samuel L. as someone who falls asleep almost immediately on any long trip I definitely know where you're coming from? Samuel there are a lot of elements at play when you travel the can add up to that that sleepy feeling the biggest though is boredom. I mean whether you're in a plane train or automobile. There's not a whole lot to keep you occupied on a long trip. A study study in two thousand seventeen found that the same part of the brain. That's responsible for motivation can also produce sleep so when there's nothing particularly motivating around. We tend to get sleepy. Maybe that part of the brain is called the nucleus accumbens and it's packed with receptors for tiredness triggering molecule called a denizen both caffeine and motivating stimuli stimuli can interfere with these receptors. And keep you from getting sleepy but without either of those. It's a one-way ticket to snooze. Ville studies have also found that the gentle vibrations nations of a vehicle or also. Really good lulling us to sleep. Although scientists aren't really sure why a twenty eighteen study from Australia had people drive in a virtual oh simulator that was set up on a vibration platform. It only took fifteen minutes on a low vibration for the participants to show signs of drowsiness and by thirty minutes in staying alert took significant effort when it comes to staying awake on route the relaxing Of the engine isn't doing you any favors. And of course they're all the little things things on traveled as you probably wake up earlier than normal eat less than nourishing food generally send your normal routines out of whack. You also may be dehydrated whether from recirculated air in a plane or just forgetting to drink water in general and studies suggest that can make you sluggish. So what should you do about it. Honestly take a nap up. But if you'd rather stay alert here are a few things to try. Talk to your travel buddies to keep your mind. Active drink caffeine too full your identity and receptors. Just make sure sure to follow it with lots and lots of water and try your best to eat healthy meals so you don't have a food coma or sugar crash to make things even worse.
DeMarcus Cousins gets phone call from Los Angeles Lakers on first day of NBA free agency
"Really do believe when he said the other day it's unlikely that they make a big trade i think that is him really liking what he saw last year and knowing in the back of his mind that gordon hayward coming back and also kyrie irving is coming back and i think he takes a lot of pride in that all right let's get to the lakers and how they moved from here and what is their approach moving forward in this free agency and off season part of the calendar so you don't get paul george now obviously the number one target is lebron james so what do you do now in order to get more players around the broad if you're still operating under the belief that lebron james is going to join the los angeles lakers now this is for mark spears about an hour ago the pelicans allstar free agent center demarcus cousins received calls from the pelicans and the lakers tonight once free agency began as expected to have meetings scheduled both teams soon a source told the spn's of the undefeated also earlier yesterday the ringers kevin o'connor reported this was saturday night that demarcus cousins is increasingly a likely target for the lakers as it appears as though the team will miss out on paul george which eventually did come to fruition if the all star center does land in la o'connor notes it would likely be on a short term max contract so that's the latest with demarcus cousins however if i am the lakers i am doing whatever it takes to get leonard to los angeles and i think all you have to do is look at recent history you took a gamble and the gamble was hall towards wants to come to la so i'm not going to give you up a valuable asset like the number two pick in last year's draft or brandon ingram and i'm going to operate under the belief that paul george wants to come to la so let them get traded to oklahoma city and then at the end of the year he will come marching to la and he will start this new super team well it didn't happen because paul george went to oklahoma city liked it and elected to stay so the lakers now need to learn from that pass and the lakers now need to do everything in their power to persue gregg popovich and r c buford to make a trade with the lakers whether it is giving up a.
