"You got the orange and it was such a good match. Like, we have all these colors and we don't use them, so I think that you're right. We should have some variety. I really like it when the Mariners have their navy Seattle tops. And I know I just said that there's too much blue, but sometimes they will wear the navy Seattle tops on the road instead of doing the gray. And it's much better. It's far more visually interesting. So I'm with you. I think it's time to mix it up. And the variety is what really helps make it make it visually interesting, not just among, you know, like you want contrast between the teams and then you want a variety of colors across all of the teams. Is there like a lot of the baby blue fabric clang around? Do we just have like an excess of the blue? Because I know that everyone's doing the powder blues is through of X, but everyone is doing those. Yeah. Too many of them. I think that we need more colors. We have talked before like pink, wildly underutilized. It's part of why the city connect jerseys for the nationals are so nice to get some pink those were nice. You know, those are like, those are stunning. They're so not enough purple. We should have a lot more purple, you know? The rockies are bad. I mean, they're less bad this year than we expected. Better than the reds, I don't know, baseball can be so confusing sometimes, but we really want to let the rockies of all teams Bogart purple? Come on now. Let's do something. Let's be more inventive than that. Yeah, I'm okay with Diego suggestion in principle. I just can't muster that much outrageous here or interest uniforms just kind of a blind spot for me. It's like face blindness. I have uniform blindness. I don't know what it is. I just don't care that much. I care about things that are equally inconsequential. Sure. Probably more so. That matter a lot to me, but for whatever reason. Unless someone is wearing the turn ahead the clock night jerseys or is like playing naked. I may not notice. Like if you asked me after the game, if I was like the witness at a crime scene where everyone was wearing a baseball Jersey, they were like, what color was that guy's Jersey? I would say I am sorry, I do not know because I have uniform blindness. So I just don't really care. If you ask me in an abstract sense to compare a couple of uniforms, I would say, yeah, okay, that one looks smart. I like that one. And in theory, I'm fine with a greater variety of colors. Why not? Might as well use the whole spectrum here, taste the rainbow, but it's just not something I get exercised about for whatever reason. I care about it for aesthetic reasons. I have a weird experience of it in other sports that I know less well. Like I'm very rarely watching like flipping through MLB TV and turn to a big league game and can't immediately identify which teams are playing and who placed for because I have a professional baseball person. But that is not true. Sometimes when I have turned on like basketball or hockey and they are wearing similar colors, I'm like, I don't think I am confident that you're passing to the right person. So I don't have that experience of baseball, but I imagine that if someone is new to the sport or to the point that the question brings up, like, you know, it might be confusing to people. It might be exacerbate people's experience as a visual impairment. Like, I think having a lot of contrast allows just for easy identification of the opponents, which is the entire reason they don't all wear the same thing. So why is there so much red and blue? It's about patriotism, isn't it? Maybe it matters less than baseball because you don't really have that risk of passing to a player on your own. People are spaced out and you just have the one guy up from the other. I mean, you don't sometimes you have multiple guys from the other team up at the same time. But the possibility of you doing the wrong thing as a result of uniform confusion is a lot lower. Yes, right. Maybe that's why I don't care. It's still important to distinguish players visually just for fans watching at home, but I guess soon enough, uniforms will just be so plastered with ads. As they are in soccer, maybe Diego will welcome that. It'll look like his favorite sport, but that'll be some visual differentiation because we'll have swooshes here and some other sponsorship there. And that is probably not the kind of differentiation that anyone wants. But it's coming. And I don't limit that much either, probably because of just my Jersey blindness in general. All right, here is a question from Sean. This is barely a baseball question, but the other day my wife and I were talking about how bad the pirates are. Yes, we are for better or worse pirates fans. I made some offhand remark about how their players may not be very good at baseball, but they probably have other skills, like juggling, for example. Then we started to talk about it semi seriously and realized it is highly likely that at least one player on every MLB team could juggle for a whole bunch of reasons. These are guys who are highly athletic with great hand eye coordination, they are constantly around balls, and especially for certain positions like relief pitchers they have a fair bit of downtime during which they could practice, but there are so many questions that I'd love your thoughts on how many MLB players can juggle. How does this compare to the percentage of folks who can juggle in the general population are certain folks more likely to be able to juggle than others, relievers seem like the right answer to me, but maybe I'm missing a key factor here, who is the best juggler among current or former MLB players, could have washed out player, make a second career as a circus act. What about other circus skills? Maybe Kevin Newman missed his shot at a tightrope walking career..

"Not only true in journalism that's that's been true in television but journalism in particular doesn't seem to have a champion in that we come back. Kevin newman opens up about his relationship with the son. Alex and how is all consuming career. Didn't necessarily feed the needs of his family chatter. That matters with tony. Chapman will return in a moment on the iheartradio. Talk network building one of the building. It was hard we went on for sixteen hours. And we didn't. We didn't buckle but after those sixteen hours drove home and it was a beautiful sunny blue sky in vancouver with north shore. Mountains and a i pulled over to the side and i cried uncontrollably for thirty minutes. You're listening to chatter. That matters with tony chapman presented by our bbc. Welcome back to china. That matters my special guest. Kevin newman whose career in television journalism is unequaled and unmatched in canada. But was success. Comes at price kevin. I don't know if you remember this. But i was the opening keynote. At candidates three point zero was an important conference in the future technology. You're the master ceremonies at that conference. You introduced me to your son. Alex and he was mastering technology to anime content. You were so excited about this credible fusion of what could bring to the newest but beneath the surface of this proud dad talking about the signing smiles at you too had. It sounded like you were struggling his father and son because together. You wrote an incredible book all out a father and son confront the hard truths made them better man. Tell me how all this came about. And what did you each learned from writing this book. Oh man we learned so much and it's a good thing. We've lived in the same city for three years as adult man than alex now lives in australia and has been trapped there now for a good year and a half because of cova. So i'm really glad we did this hard work while we still lived in the same city had proximity because it's built a an incredible foundation for our relationship. I came to realize through my own reporting in my own reflection. That while i had done everything i thought a good dad should do when your child comes out to. He didn't see. As i saw it. That i thought i'd done the right thing by embracing him by hugging him by trying to guide him through but he didn't believe me he thought i was homophobic. Can and i was to a degree. It made me wonder like what. Do our kids actually think about the lives that we provided and i had a lot of guilt about it while he was being bullied as a boy. I couldn't defend him. I felt I hadn't been there for my daughter at certain points when she was in crisis as much as i wanted to because i had these very big jobs with big responsibilities and we actually approached a book i as a family with all four of us writing and got halfway through it and publisher looked at it and said you know the the women in your life or saints. They're they're just all a good news story but if good fiction and if good drama is the conflict than it's you and your son so we started writing the book over. I would write my recollections of certain points in our lives together. alex would do the same. And we never talked about our views of that Until each of our manuscripts were finished and we exchange the manuscripts that a big long desk and we read each other's stories about the same events in our lives we read about each other through our own lands. It was remarkable the experience and the parenting that we think we understand we gave. Our children is not necessarily how it's received. It was remarkable. I didn't realize that in the coming out process. Alex had been so unhappy and so sure that he would be rejected by his parents who had given him nothing but complete love but he was convinced that we would reject him and he was close to suicide. He didn't know that. I had been bullied when i was a kid and that some of the reasons that i reacted the way i did was to protect him from the experiences that i had had. It was a revelation to both of us and humanized each of us. You know as men and not as father son but his individuals who had gone through the same time lived in the same house but had two very different experiences. What is next for cabinet. Oh man i'm in such a beautiful stage in life. I don't have to create money from retirement. I was very fortunate to have a good career. So i have options and i have curiosity that. That's the constant driver of my life. But mostly if i feel i can have impact. I will get involved if the likelihood of me making a difference. Isn't there then. I won't can. I always end my podcast with the three things that i've learned number one which i think is so powerful when you have weak coffee at espresso so often we throw out ideas because we were told they're not good or they they didn't resonate and i love your idea of saying we had something that was magic. Just needed a little more second one. Is this sense of curiosity. We so often leave curiosity behind. We become fed. And i think what you fought for through your entire career. I think what you're still. Continue to fight for with your. Your son is a sense of middle ground. Not don't just see how you see the world see how it and i think that if we as human being spent more time having curiosity to how other people's point of view and how they perceive reality i think we'd be a much better human race and i think the final one would be the state of journalism today. First of all journalists need a little bit more humility because they're part of the conversation especially with citizen journalism. They no longer own it. But i think the big message that i learned. Is the social media. Platform season mega empires. These billionaire trillionaire organizations that they can't take the contact when up paying a price. Sometimes we think that we got these platforms for free but the content. That's on a platform. People have not been paid a fair wage for so. Kevin newman always a pleasure. My friend i'll let you get back to the cottage today. There's no doubt you're probably going on a thirty kilometer canoe ride or something but thanks for joining me. Oh man it was such a thoughtful conversation. Tony thank you for all the work you put into it.

"That's like up there or down there with the worst offensive full seasons in recent memory and i was casting my mind back to when we did our pirates preview episode this spring because remember. Kevin newman had an incredible spring training. Kevin newman hit six zero six. Six forty one seven eighty eight in spring training. Do remember that because it's not really all that important to remember. But he just like he wouldn't make it. He didn't strike out a single time in his thirty. Three at bats in spring trading like just could not get the guy out it was the highest spring training batting average on record with a minimum of thirty at bats. There some talk about how he adjusted his stance and he'd lowered his hands. Adam frazier evidently did something similar. He had a good spring and he had a good start to the season. Newman not so much. But in the spring fourteen twenty nine yes and he has gone straight from that to hitting two twenty two fifty nine three. Oh to which. I say just to remind everyone that spring training stats are meaningless. Because sometimes there is some meaning to them especially at the extremes and there have been people who've done studies have shown that if you really outperformer underperformed expectation spring training. It can be a good sign for your chances of underperforming or overperforming your projection heading into the regular season. But this is not a case that has been true so rail whiplash going from spring two regular-season for poor kevin newman. I'm just glad that. Pirates fans have brian reynolds. Because you know when you when you look at the leaderboards and you filter down to pittsburgh and you leave the qualified. Pa filter on. So you know that's part of this too. But it's brian reynolds. Who's having a great season for point. Three wins and he's got one thirty nine. Wnyc plus and then. There's adam frazier who is no longer a pirate. And then there's kevin newman at a pressure has done much better in san diego and fortunately for them. But i was just reading this. Pittsburgh post gazette article from march thirtieth about newman definitely a fun spring. Probably the hottest streak. I've ever had which is a lot of fun but excited for the regular season. Definitely a new slate so looking to carry it into here narrator. He did not carry it into here. Sometimes the clinton slate can be bad. You want to keep the old slate. When you're betting six six so another thing. You may have missed while you are away. Is i think a fun fact. I saw it shared widely. And i did say or at least think. Wow when i initially saw it. Which is robbie ray. He hit the thousand inning mark in yet another strong start against the orioles in this case and he has the most strikeouts ever by a pitcher who reaches the thousand inning mark. And so if you look at the baseball reference career leaderboard for strikeouts per nine innings which has a one thousand career innings pitched minimum. He is now on. Top is all time leader in strikeouts per nine according to baseball reference. Which kind of blew my mind for a moment. And i thought about it a little more and obviously you have the era effect so right below robbie ray you have chris. Sale yu darvish jacob. Degrom max scherzer sherry johnson stephen strasburg garrett cole. Almost all of those guys are active and all of them are recent so clearly it's context and the environment in which he's pitching and also i guess in robbie race case this maybe shows the difference between cape or nine and k percentage strikeouts per nine as opposed to just the percentage of hitters. You strike out. Because he'll have some long innings where he walks a lot of guys or at least he used to when he used to walk is and so that may be helped him rack up more strikeouts per inning whereas he perhaps could not quite compared to some of those other luminaries in strikeouts per plate appearance or based but still. it's pretty impressive. And i would not have expected robbie ray to top leaderboard. So he's topping the leaderboard in a season when he has leveled up as have discussed recently and he has found the strike zone and is still striking out a lot better so he has set himself up to really cashing in free agency. But that's just a sign of the times. I guess that robbie ray would be on such a leaderboard. 'cause you look at his you know if you look at his player page. You wouldn't think it's particularly remarkable alex kipper. Nine numbers are not bad. But you wouldn't be like is is machine is because this pants were so tight is this. Is this a tape pant phenomenon is it about the tight pants hurting him clearly. I mean we don't know that. Ben you don't know what the state of his gut is. Isn't that nice that we don't know. Maybe he's pitching through pain. And that is what motivates him to strike out so many better so he can get back to the dugout in race in the pencil. But yeah i mean you see all those double digit k per nine numbers there when you look at page and usually not black ink like one year of black ink weeding in case per nine but he has consistently been. They're striking out eleven. Twelve batters per nine. And when you do that long enough and you get two thousand endings. That gets you to the top of leaderboard but yeah like prior to this season. He hasn't even consistently been a good pitcher or even like last year a close to average pitcher. He's been decent some years and he had the one excellent year in twenty seventeen with arizona but hadn't totally put it together until this year. I guess he has the same era plus this season that he had that season but just with even better control so robbie ray who knew because last year his problem was that he walked a bunch of guys but it was fine because he was also giving up a lot of home runs. Now one thing. I imagine you have not missed his news that the mariners have promoted our old pal. Jerry dipoto from general manager to president of baseball operations an extended him and also extended manager scott service which was not news. I was expecting to wake up to necessarily. I don't know how surprising it is or was to you as thinking about this just because i think the last time we talked about dipoto was a month ago right the trade deadline where he made the divisive particularly cattle grave trade trading the mariners closer to the astros the mariners had just beat the astros the previous night in agreement had pitched that game and he was revered by the clubhouse seemingly and then before anyone knew it he was sent over to the enemy and a lot of people in the clubhouse. Were not pleased about that. And jerry said hey just weighed in. Gimme a chance here. And i'll make some subsequent moves. And i guess he did and i guess that's died down a bit. And the mariners are still improbably in contention which i guess is what earned him this extension but just thinking of that in terms of great men. And abraham toro one of the players graffman was traded for. Because i guess this is just a classic case of you can't predict baseball. Because abraham toro on tuesday won a game mariners over the astros by hitting a grand slam off of kendall graffman yup which supplied all of seattle's runs came abraham. Toro has just been unstoppable. Basically that blend he is hit like wonder front co- he has a one forty plus over. That's been so he has outward can graffman pretty handily not that great. That's been bad for houston. Like his luck has normalized somewhat. He has a higher. Era his peripherals are still strong earners. Bullpen hasn't been bad in crave absence. It hasn't been as good as it was with him. I don't know whether it would have been anyway. They were tenth in bullpen war in august eleventh in bullpen win probability added although the bullpen pitched four scoreless innings after logan gilbert's five scoreless innings in shutout against the astros on wednesday. That pen was probably a bit over. Its head but you never know like that. Seemed like a long term play. Like hey toro seems like a semi promising player you know. He is under team control for years here. Sell high on the reliever who.

"Hello mac thank you. It's nice to be back missed banter. It's nice to talk to s and share interesting. People in the tide banter is the same tried to enter by myself and it just doesn't work quite as well trying to do voices maybe just multiple parts or something but opted not to do that but the monologue. It's just not quite as engaging as the banter. No i've heard that folks to process events in their lives out loud serve regardless of whether or not there are other people there right who's means of processes vocalisations. I guess do better in crisis situations. I don't remember where. I heard that. Ben i'm going to do. My mom doesn't say. I think i heard that on. Npr and i don't know what they mean by a crisis situation. I don't know how how we mean better but you know. Think of it this way. You were honing your skills for the day when you are faced. Some conundrum need to work through it quickly. So that's all that's all you were doing. That's reassuring that's good well. I made a number of notes of things to mention to make when she got back most of them just minor just like coke random assortment of observations. That i had no place to put the past week or so and i should note that we are spending much of this episode talking to erik log in lead prospect in west of fan graphs about september roster expansion and some of the prospects who have been called up or perhaps are about to be called up and could potentially an impact on the stretch run. So we'll get to eric soon but just a few things that you may have missed. I don't know how plugged into baseball. You were while you were away but you missed wonderf- ronco getting on base every game that's been doing for more than a month now. That's pretty fun. I feel like you know wonder started. Kind kinda slow right although i feel if we have perhaps learned from prospect panics of the recent past that i didn't see too much fretting over that it didn't seem like people assumed that he was gonna bust or something. Maybe we've we've corrected based on the vlad experience but he's really come on strong in the last little bit and then he was like Not strong enough. Let me come on stronger. You've ever looked overmatched out of place in it. It wasn't like jared celtics. I qala or something. It was not quite that bad. He was just not great but he had that initial exciting game his first game where he hit the homer and then he scuffled for two or three weeks and since he has really turned on so as we record here on wednesday evening he has made it unbased. Thirty one straight games. Which is the longest active streak in the majors but it puts him in some pretty good company for someone who is as young as wander. Franco is there. Are now some streak still ahead of him. Mickey mantle mellat arc. Yvonne and frank robinson all hall of famers are the only players who have had longer streaks in the al or among players aged twenty or younger so we are stacking some qualifiers here but this is a case where. I'm okay with some qualifiers because to do what he's doing at this age as you can tell by the company have the players who have done it previously. It's pretty impressive. This is the longest streak by player under the age of twenty one. Since robinson got to forty three games in nineteen fifty-six mantle got to thirty six that's the longest. Al streak mel cut to thirty three as did arken but those are all very long. Time ago. Ken griffey junior. Got to twenty four games in nineteen ninety. This is the longest since then and it's not like he's been totally turning it on over that span like to have an on base streak. You just have to reach base. Wants which isn't necessarily even a good game every time. But most of his games have been good during that span. He had a seventy five. Wrc plus through july twenty fourth which was his last baseless game as we speak so july twenty fifth is when the streak started. He had had just a little over one hundred plate appearances prior to that. He's had one hundred thirty five plate appearances during the streak and he said three fourteen. Three eight five five zero four. That's forty nine. Wrc plus which is pretty special at that age. Those numbers may be. Don't pop off the page. The way that they would have at an earlier time but a three fourteen batting average in twenty twenty one his pretty impressive at three eighty five on base of that is pretty impressive to so silmi hit three homers over that span so the over the fence power hasn't quite shown up but he's been getting on base every day which is sort of his skill set and he has walked a lot and not struck out a lot. He wasn't even striking out all that much before. So it's what we were led to expect wander. Franco would be and that has helped sort of put the yankees away. It seems like right. Now as far as tampa bay's pretty commanding lead in the al east and hopefully he'll go on to star in the playoffs. So it's been fun to see. Him thrive so soon absolutely and yeah. I feel like One of the things that happens when you go on vacation and are only sporadically checking in on the standings is really cruises wherein doing your hot stuff but yeah it's it's exciting to see any prospect doing well. There's you know there's some light. Pride of authorship stuff that comes with a guy who's been eighty which we had not done before franko franko. Who am i ben. Who's he who's franko. That's not anyone that we're talking about. You should leave it in serum back again all relaxed from vacation but we hadn't done that fan groups prior to bronco so y- especially want those wants to work out when you've gone out out on something of a limb. I mean not me personally eric. And so that's exciting and for him to be on a team that does look poised to have a reasonably long playoff. Ron has the potential for some really exciting october moments in in his rookie campaign. So it's cool. Just cool stuff then sabarsky just wrote about him for fan graphs and i will link to that post but he notes that he may have sort have inserted himself into the rookie of the year. Conversation probably still an underdog just because he missed half the year. I mean he was aaa for half the year. So it's a lot of ketchup that he'd have to do over this last month and probably won't get all the way there. But as noted like rookie of the year it can go to just like not necessarily the most valuable rookie. I never get a vote seemingly so rarely actually review what the voting instructions are but as dan noted unlike the mvp award. Which explicitly instructs you to consider value and games played. There are no similar instructions for rookie of the year. It doesn't necessarily mean most valuable rookie although that's usually the way it's treated but if you want to give it to someone who's had a good rookie year and also is likely to be the best rookie long-term then. He has a pretty strong case so as dan mentioned at the end of that piece. It's just fun to see him take his place you know. Maybe it's a little premature but we've been talking about all. The young excellent players in tattoos and guerrero and kuna in soto and franco was sort of expected to join their ranks and at least over the past month plus he pretty much. Yeah exactly. I should note by the of people are here. In little skittering of pas in the background and possibly barks unusual setting so my dog grump gain is actually overhead today and chasing a tennis ball with great verve. Pet may come through. That's what that undescribed gain is also enjoying vacation. Yes so you've not missed wonder. Front co- making many outs. Another thing that you may have missed is. Kevin newman making many outs. I don't need to dwell on this. But i just want to mention pirates shortstop kevin newman. The nl mvp are once again. Back in totti's favor if there ever pointed somewhere else padres. Shortstop is unequivocally been the best player in the national league when he's been on the field this season but what does that mean for the padres as a team. Well it's hard to figure out but the padres have been a fairly average offense even has been healthy this season middle of the pack in the nfl and runs extra base. Hits and home runs though there. Strikeout-to-walk rates are elite. Don't really jibe with the talent on the roster. In fact as of august sixteenth the padres were just forty seven and forty two in games which totti's appeared a five twenty eight win percentage and twenty and twelve games. He missed a six twenty five win percentage. No-one here's singapore are better off without tease. It's just a fun. Statistical oddity only seem to get in baseball it also thinking but which players have been a part of the most victories this season not the best players necessarily but the ones whose teams have won the most in their outings. No surprise with the league's best record the giants on the top two spots at san fran. One two thirds of mike you stransky's one hundred games played but number three on that list switch teams during the season. As a brewers willie adamas went from tampa to milwaukee and has seen his teams go seventy five and forty in his presence now. Hopefully totti's can stay on the field over the season's final six weeks to. I don't know maybe.

I'm your host rob parker. What a great show we have for you today. Pittsburgh pirates shortstop kevin newman stopped by also seattle mariners. Play by play men. Dave sills that foul affair and much more. Let's go lead off. It's getting robbed and keep them up. Rob's hot take the three biggest stories in major league baseball number. One you hear that. That's the freaking new york yankees. The red sox have heard them because the yankees are common. They have won five in a row. Coming into wednesday night's game against the red sox won twelve of fifteen and they've taken over the second spot and the from those red sox who are nosediving the yankees swept a doubleheader on tuesday. And we're looking to win another game against the red sox and the yankees here to numbers. It's incredible the yankees were ten and a have games behind the first place. Red sox back on july fifth but since then they've gone twenty six and eleven. That's right and the red sox are just you know tumbling three and eleven in their previous fourteen games before wednesday night and the yankees for the first time in a playoff position as far as records schedules. Since may thirtieth. So what a turnaround. We've seen aaron judge. We've seen john giancarlo stanton. We've seen the offense come alive. The yankees made trades at the trade deadline and to get gallo and rizzo and boy. Things have really turned around for the bronx bombers the yankees made some noise and look like they're going to the play offs number two bali. Sports detroit has suspended hall of fame pitcher and broadcaster jack morris indefinitely after tuesday night when he had racist comments leading up to bat. By shohei. otani. And jack morris. Apologize on the air later on in the game but it was too late and he made some sort of crack using like an asian Accent to say something about otani and bally. Sports did the right thing. The tigers also put out a statement saying they were disappointed in jack and that they supported bali sports detroit and we do as well here and these guys have to stop with the racist remarks and jokes and stuff. They're trying to slip through. That day is over and broadcasters. Keep going by the wayside because they're so set and they're all ways a knows things. Just don't play anymore number. Three mets owner steve cohen rips. His team's offense on twitter. I just have one question. Why come on man here. We go. I get it. Everybody in new york is frustrated about the mets. They were leading the for ninety days for three months and now they're sinking like a rock to have injuries to have all kinds of things going. On and going into wednesday night they had fallen below five hundred for for the first time since may fifth there now four and a half games behind the atlanta braves who are leading the division and it was just two weeks ago that the mets actually led to division by four games and i get the frustration but here we go with the owner. You know what say. Your piece talked to general manager. Talk to your manager even talk to some players personally but to go on twitter and rip the players as if they're not trying to hit and as if they don't wanna have better batting averages and win more games i mean it. Just here's the start of something that could be silly. I think steve cohn who's a new owner of the mets virtually has made a mistake by going on the offensive on twitter. Here comes the big interview. Listen handler so good now. Let's welcome into podcast pittsburgh pirates shortstop. Kevin newman kevin. Welcome to the podcast. Buddy how are you. i'm good up. Thanks for having me. No thanks for joining us. And the pirates finished up three game series with the dodgers on wednesday night in los angeles. "A second. This steel in the setup. Just one of the standout plays from giraldi last night. Was he actually the mvp of game five after everything we said about true the last couple of games. We'll discuss that next first things first on monday morning never drawn blind. Can we're still talking to holidays. Game five took a right at seven. Booker's hands set up with the perfect alley pass in clutch time about jrue holiday. Twenty seven points thirteen assists so brandon. Drew's game five was blank. Yeah potentially the greatest play embarks history. Sometimes there's plays that we forget about you. Know you go back to two thousand and five. The pittsburgh steelers super bowl run. They went on to detroit and beat the seattle seahawks. Remember that game. Remember that moment. The one play was a big been. Been the game they tackle. You can even rea- drone bed is his final year his final moments and he fumbles and big. Ben happens to tackle the deepens back. Come on this is one of those plays now if the bucks go on to win it. We won't remember this play but this was a great play booker like you said earlier. Nick all yet do is pull up and the game has changed. You go back to the last series. What is katie's toll wasn't on the line. We wouldn't even be talking about this so there's plays any championship runs that we forget about in this is one of them within the box of. Add a handful. I i enjoy holidays game. Five performance was frost personified. The milwaukee bucks trusted that you honest was going to resign. So they traded half a decade's worth of draft picks. Go get drew. They didn't trust and drew would perform a high level and the biggest moments so they gave him a max contract reorganised in trusted that drew holiday would break out of the offense of slumpy spin in and kept feeding him the ball in this game which led to him having the greatest game he's ever had and then drew frosted they could go get this allieu despite chris ball kind of shoving him a little dirty actually in the belly on it and into the game so it was trust on trust on trust on trust from the organization from the player from the star player for everyone so it's trust personified and really vindicated wild. So i'm going to go with. Cpi three kryptonite. So this was our first major drew holiday like wow offensive game defensively. he's put the clamps on three. Now personally. I think three's hand. Is you know hurting him. A little bit more than he's letting on. But when you look at the job that he's doing against the point god to that with a great offense of performance a shows how greedy and you know what cj i'm gonna holiday and mvp boquet. Nick upset jaanus can get tank one milton one just nice. It's just a nice gesture. That's mvp borders. A nice gentle. Here's another i stretch. Let's talk some weird and wonderful for national pastime wild About shohei ohtani brandon mariners. Angels top nine show as major league leading thirty four. Th home run. That is pretty wonderful. Otani on the today by the way the guy just gets it done but wows what else you got for us. All we'll start with the weird geno mets pirates bases loaded in the first. Kevin newman dribbling down the third base line walkers hopes up accidentally becomes lacrosse player. Pirates clear the bases three run score walker doesn't make it through the first roz ends up getting injected. Here's the weirdest part about this whole thing. Mets end up winning the game. Mets win pirates louis. But still they're calling this the the bunt fumble. I kind of liked that pretty good still moving onto the wonderful more otani thought it was good. Mariners angels otani ground ball. The first type france fields it cleanly loses the foot race. Now you're not supposed to die inter first-base slide into first base but does not hold for the field. You probably need to die. Put the ball on your blog. Dive get an extra little a few inches there because your glove too onto the weird cubs diamondbacks bases-loaded one out call calhoun. This looks like the last night. Another grounded first. Rizzo gets the ball here. He just throws home. Okay one out. But since kole calhoun had to dodge the ball he ends up forgetting to run to first double play. The inning is over. Oh now shout. Twitter user zona jones. Because get this yeah we avoided it. Call cow who is the same guy last year. Who in order last year so last year he had called out this year he avoided the ball fell down. Didn't make it a. I call head the ball. You're out avoid out. Nothing can do but you know what trying the wonderful from the national men simple soccer. Yes baseball no back to the finals. What chances are we giving his sons to combat win this series. "Back. It's second on to Tom, and this pitches swung on and hit towards right center field. That's going to get down. Cut off by Gaza around third and coming in is Tom. It's an R B I double by Adam Frazier and the Pirates score first, They lead one to nothing lead off walk to the number eight hitter and We have seen in all three games. Now off this Syriza's. The Pirates have been good at taking advantages. Circumstances you walk, Tom, and after the sacrifice you get the hottest hitter in the National League. And it doesn't make any difference Left on left. Adam Frazier comes through form to give them the lead. Not only that, but the young, able to get the sacrifice down on a no to pitch. So here's Kevin Newman. With one out and phrase. You're down its second and he takes a strike with the fastball, no balls and a strike. In what Kyle asked to do here. I guarantee you He's he's feeling a little bit of pressure because of the offenses struggles. It's like a man. I can't let any more up. Dealing with a guy in scoring position right now. And Kyle will step off and on top of that, just being his second start back. He's doesn't have the innings yet built up and Still trying to Settle in a little bit. Balls and a strike..

"Got the predicted next. Wouldn't agree with that statement. But I bet you won't find any arguments from the pitching staff of either team. His micro stock is weaker, still down at second base with two went out. Right hander Brubaker ready at the belt. He deals and the pitch to Moose Takis grounded foul down the first base line its own one. You know, it's interesting in that that particular category you can hear broadcasters where they're on TV or radio if their hitters both of those pitches. They're very unhappy about And if you're a pitcher, the first thing out of your mouth is that's an awfully good. Yeah, it's just the way that you see it. And borderline for a hitter goes his way. Borderline for a picture. You're thinking it should go your way. Here's the right hander zone one and loose. Takis takes high pretty good pitch there from Brubaker, and it really looked like that's right where Jacob Stallings, one of that pitch when the stock is just an offer at it accounts, even one on one. I think what we're seeing with Brubaker is very similar to what we saw in Cincinnati. He'll throw that four seamer at the very top of the zone when he has to have A pitch on the edge of the plate. It's that two seamer the sinker. He's showing it late. He starts it off the plane and brings it right back to the edge. And he's done that now twice for a couple of strikeouts, looking to these right handed batters. Brubaker has the sign the right hander from the belt. Brings home the 11 pitch and a swing and a miss by Blue stock is he's down to the county ball and two strikes. Red's trying to cash in on Wickers hustled double. He guided The third base line trickled into left. That's a big shift on here against Moose, Takis. 12 pitch, and it's down and in went to the slider that time and Brubaker has evened up. The count on move stock is it's too into the second basement. Fraser is way out shallow right, but he's pulled over a little more toward the line that sometimes what we'll see. Especially the fact that the shortstop Kevin Newman is still on the left side of second base. Bruce Takis hits a routine grounder to the normal second base position. That ball is going into right center field, and it could hop 40 times.
