"NBA Champion gold, medalist. Kevin Love Kevin would you what would you rather be a gold medalist or an NBA champion? It's kind of mellow question here. Which one was more important to you? I think for a legacy piece probably. I mean I think one hundred percents the sixteen two, thousand, sixteen champions. Wrong America. I. Love. America, but America is such a superpower in general let alone basketball but like. Look who we got to put on the floor and it was a twenty year anniversary of the Dream Team talking us about being you know the second version of that two thousand and eight coming off the team. But like. You know we're supposed to win. So yeah, Cats said you were what? A six time five. Five Times. You really consider yourself a five-time all-star because that first one was David Stern being like Kevin's going to fill in for YOM AP. Or? You do you count that as an all star? Is kind of an asterix by it. I always everybody's like, okay. I've kind of kind of as far as being an all-star getting accolades in the NBA like I've been a six-man most improved player all NBA been all-star, starter been all-star straight up as a reserve and I've been an injury replacement so that first one. Yeah. It was a little like you would think I would've called him up and asked him you. Will never know by the way I did a bad job starting the interview I want to ask, do you want the hard questions I or the easy questions? I I heard something about Primo box. So yeah, do you want you want I think we? Can you want? Are you going to? Be. Being so great at everything Kevin graded everything. That's a loaded question. That's an easy question just season. Leading me and. It's it's pretty. fucking. Sweet. Yeah. All right easy question. So. Obviously, the bubble's going on right now we're actually recording this right after the box in the stoppage on Wednesday. Do you feel like you're being a little left out because of like everyone's talking about the NBA? Watching the NBA The bubble has been fantastic and for the teams that aren't involved, it's got yeah I mean you got to command You know it's hard for me not to say. David Seromba. Commissioner silver and everything I mean CPA. On the players side Michelle Roberts? All the players because what they've been doing down there the products been amazing. Yes. It's. It's almost like watching. A heightened pickup game, he scores have been in the one thirties or forties guys are putting up monster numbers looted the other night Donovan Mitchell fifty twice in Jerusalem series. Murray's coming back and guys are talking shed. Luca mantras herro going back and forth you mentioned Murray say. Guard ME LAKERS I mean full playoff mode. Now after even myself saying it would be a good series between them and the Blazers but I talked to Jj the other day. About relevancy and US being in the delete aid and going into our own bubble and and having to play and not knowing we're GONNA play into next season but Yes, it is really hard not to be a part of this but thankfully, we have our I mean like you guys to. Platforms in order to Nolan be back in our messaging, but the NBA pushes us. That's why it's great on all size, push us into talking about you know certain messages or social injustice or everything that's going on with covert, and it's a global game. We had jaanus whose Greek freak obviously from Greece MVP, we have Slovenia and that was rookie of the year last year obviously everybody knows that is in Luca and then from Cameroon I mean we have the most improved player Siaka. So it's a global game. Wiggins Canadian Canadian. Andrew Wiggins. Australia. Yeah. Very good. Deli Yup big. Deli has his own children's book reaching that younger Demo I need to read that. Wow nobody. Like the Rudy of professional sports NBA yeah. I always go back to after you guys won the championship when he was wearing that Hawaiian shirt hoodie again, pictures to coronas in his hand. How good of a time did he have celebrating that? So? Funny. Asset, he was behind me like I had this. Convertible, you know cut the roof off whatever you fanti. Don't know anything is like a ghost right Rolls Royce and behind the. Right and everybody's going crazy for Delhi, because he's like a folk hero and Delhi almost have a statue himself in Cleveland because every time he checks into a game and the year before in two thousand fifteen. If you guys remember he had to guard Steph forty minutes plus game. Yeah, and there was. I. Forget what game it was after like four or five is that our place? So. It must have been three or four because they. They had the better recognized. They had home courts. The warriors did came back and I remember his whole body was just. Gone. They put him on IV's he was cramping through. Never seen it. You almost have hospital. Yeah. So he he gives everything to the game. So I appreciate that but I remember like now I'm standing up I, got the two belts I got the cigar. I tristen Cuban Lincoln was wearing it so sweet. and. Delis just getting all the love from from the back. Up I'm like you know in the big three third guy, it was up and then Delis just getting so much should put a statue it should be him hitting Klay Thompson. The nuts yes as a statue. And it's made out of brick or nails or some. Did. He Ever Piss you off in practice like when he go harder than ever. Oh. Yes. Yeah would. Would retaliate. It's funny like. Situation. Where because he was going against Kyrie and he may carry a lot better anybody who plays he's making a lot better and there was a point where I just had enough and we lost a couple of games in the road on in a row. Excuse me if we s the thing like we actually I, felt like because we had the Braun. There's so much that comes with that. So therefore, there was so much pressure on us to win especially in the East so. Anytime, we lost two games in a row. The world was coming crumbling down especially in this first couple years. And You know kyri comes into practice they're going after it. You know tensions are high got midway through the season and like you know there was a push shove punches thrown. The whole thing is just like. Why don't we do that to the other team might Make why would you the other time? Yeah and it is honestly when you say it like that and that Australian accent, he does make a good point if it would have been me. You know. So you mentioned like Lebron and being on the Big Three. In. A biased Lebron hater. So I just want that out there and understand what? A common thread at Barstool. Yeah. Yeah. No, we have. He's fun to laugh at I. Do think that he's the best basketball although I have an alternate persona of Laker. Dan But yes. I'm abroad hater..

"You think he can do it. I. Think you believe you can do it one more time. Yeah. Why the Hell didn't you get a shot Try It. I thought you were as agent there for a couple of years. Got Milk. Meko. OKAFOR on Rosser. Yeah I. Got Him in the League. Yeah. He was playing with Jalil Okeafor. A Mecca was playing the ohka five in Philly for a game or two for that. was that that was last year eighteen, nineteen I guess. Long ago. Yeah anyway. It wasn't that long ago that Nikola Batumi of the Charlotte. Hornets sign a massive year deal in twenty sixteen and didn't live up to that contract. He's only going to be thirty two at the end of this year. So I think there's a chance that he could be versatile three and D guy like he was back in his. PORTLAND. Days when he was around lamarcus Aldridge and Brandon Roy I know it seems like eons ago. But I think if you look at. The sixers they can always use a three d guy but I would the sixers need somebody to make plays I? Think the jazz could use him instead of let's let's be realistic here, Rondo and Dwight or coming off the bench I think potentially could take George neons minutes on on the jazz bench because you know the. He's definitely good at what you need in a playoffs hard defense and be able to shoot a three. Can you make a play at? but I think what it comes down to is situation the Lakers situation is so structured top-down. You know what you're being asked for if you're Caruso or your coups MMA or your Rondo or your dwight so you need a real strong system. So that's why I'm not throwing but tomb into philly because who the heck knows, what's going on there I think Utah's a bad or chance was the only real team that I could find an actual actual decent fit because this is a tough question. Is this tough you gotta you gotTa be in the right The right situation again, I think it's all about the locker room and Lebron Brin Jr Smith to the championship in Eamonn trumper to the championship that works I don't know if the jazz work like that. But that was my my. My little wild stab at this I mean I liked the reasoning but to he's got a player option if I'm not mistaken has got one. Twenty seven, million, there's something tells me he's picking up that. Signed a five, hundred year contractor or raised. Me Twenty what he made, he made twenty four this. One, hundred, twenty, four, and five hundred. Maybe, there's a contract by ODEM chase. Give us two million back. My friends you can leave. Okay. But tomb tasks has little faith in could contribute to roster in the right spot I. think that does make some sense I could see him. On a good team having a limited role, doing some of those little things that you said, tach do you have anything trae another guy? Kevin. Love and Russell Westbrook I still believe I think it's still help Kevin Love I mean obviously both of these guys make tons of money and that's the thing the difference between Rondo Dwight there at the end of their career you're not paying them money Dwight Howard came and said, hey, you don't have to pay me anything if I suck. So I'm not gonNA suck maybe that'll be the case when Westbrook and Kevin Love. Finally get done with their contracts. It's a long time in the future but. West still good Kevin love is still good bay just Westbrook's reputation right now is terrible after the Lakers series and kind of after game six in game seven against. As well and Kevin. Lava just feels like we haven't actually seen him. He has allegedly been playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers but the only things that I can remember from Kevin. Love this season are him being so pissed, passing the ball to his teammates just as hard as he can hating playing on the Cleveland. Cavaliers, maybe he needs a change of scenery because I mean. He's still about seventeen points and ten rebounds on a team that's going nowhere. Maybe he helps if he were able to make his way to the rockets, maybe he would actually be a huge help. Okay. Kevin love what got leap. Well, one of the most stories I think in recent NBA history is that in two thousand Seventeen Isaiah Thomas Finish fifth in MVP. Voting. And since then he's had some injuries of course, Potenza and he's been to Cleveland the Lakers the nuggets in the wizards. Now he's out of the ladies thirty one years old I mean it's just incredible that he hasn't liked that says any average twenty, eight point, nine points a game in the playoffs he was fantastic at that fifty three point game. Dealing with tragedy while he was doing it as well and I, mean players get injured all the time that happens. But that basically that injury that he had has ended his career completely to the point where it's like he can't even stick the wizards So I think he's I. Think Someone Still GonNa give him another shot at some point because surely he can come off the bench and is better than some teams that I have off the bench get your bucket. He can still do that I. Think it's just incredible that. He's career for that that one or two seasons here in Boston where he's really good and now just like he's done forever on my Saddle Lakes A. Credible really. So I think I think someone gives him another shot. I'd be shocked if at thirty one, we'd never seen again in the NBA but you know he went to Denver where Mike Malone was his coach in Sacramento hoping maybe that could be the spot for him. That didn't work out. And again Washington I mean. It's crazy. It's crazy because I, just I don't remember story someone just being completely sort of brushed off out of leaks. So quickly thirty one after speaking. MVP very and remember from Boston I. Mean he was great out there. That's it was incredible. So I think we see again. Okay Point. Oh great answers a throw that one at all our listeners on twitter at no dunk Sankar in the youtube chats other possibilities of guys like Ron Dwight took sort of like save their career have like this late boom in their career given the right spot and the right minutes an opportunity and stuff like that. There's one comment here. I. Wanted to get to a ton of people emailed in after the Jeremy Lin news saying that he was done playing trying to want to come back to the. So they're speros gotTA, Mackie's given us the Jeremy. Lantana people saying Jeremy Land He's an NBA champion get them back in the league..
Harleys everywhere, masks nowhere: Sturgis draws thousands
"Hundreds of thousands of bikers are attending the eightieth Sturgis motorcycle rally in South Dakota most without masks despite fears it could lead to a massive corona virus outbreak Michael Kevin love's been road six hundred miles from Minnesota and says he's not wearing a mask and was surprised at how many showed up this year they're still lined up and found people still in our case really only see somebody there's ladies that know whatever the mask on but about it yeah okay everybody still partying hearty but the corona viruses change some things as Bob Graham's marking his thirty six three year people there's many masters I thought there would be we have to put down the streets were Sturgis organizer say two hundred and fifty thousand could show up I'm Julie Walker

"Wraparound. Yeah. He's got those highlights. You're running offense through Josh mcroberts. That's not the Fulcrum of a damn good team that's in the conference finals. Love that question we're gonNA start at all. That is a fun when they're connell gunning hand. What name that guys. I've never met a connell. Ever. Comes up in the MANSCAPING. I'm guessing he's Irish I'm just. I Think. All right. Next one here. What's up no dunks it's been a while since I've heard of WHO Says No. So I decided to propose one. Oh, he's already groaning with Russell Westbrook clearly not working out in Houston how about a trade where Westbrook goes to Cleveland for Kevin Love, Darius, Garlan, and wing Jedi Osman Cleveland needs to move on from love and Houston needs to move on from Westbrook Cleveland is completely relevant and Westbrook automatically makes them a playoff team in the east. HOUSTON, would be admitting that the small ball experiment is dead but there are also getting someone who can shoot a three in love. Garland is an exciting young piece who still very unproven but needs to be added to sweeten the deal. Because at the end of the day, Westbrook is still more valuable than love plus I was shocked to learn that love and Westbrook are. The same age. All right boys who says, no, that's from Joe. In Israel. All right. We got WHO Says No. Westbrook. For Love is basically the package here with a couple of other guys thrown in what do you think this is technically a WHO says no but to me it's more of a WHO. Says yes, because I think both of these teams would say no. To this deal because Kevin Love doesn't really address what the rockets problems. If you put Kevin Love on the rockets instead of Russell Westbrook I, don't think the series against the Lakers really changes and I also don't necessarily think that the rockets need to move on from Russell Westbrook was was a bad series after a four month layoff and an injury and a Cova diagnosis. Like he was playing pretty well before the season shut down. So i. don't necessarily think you need to do it I think Cleveland. would be more would be more likely to say, no I, however, because Westbrook is so much more expensive than Kevin love is they're giving up to pieces in love and Darius Garland. Who is a guy? I'm not super high on them but A. A young player for them some sort of their future. I, do think the rockets need to improve but I don't think Kevin Love is necessarily the guy that takes them to the next level. So I think I think that the cavaliers would probably say no I but I don't think that either team would seriously entertain the. I think the cavs would say, yes I think they would give it a shot why the heck not Kevin Love Russell Westbrook or the same age but how much does Kevin love have left to carry a team at least you see Russel Westbrook bring in some excitement to his team and to his franchise an all star this year Yeah he is more expensive but even if it's just Garland and Kevin Love it's not a crapload more. It's really just fourteen million over the next three years. That's that's pennies in the NBA for a Guy Russell Westbrook who could pull you into the playoffs. Get you some excitement. Do you think West on the Catholic? If this pathetic the cavs are in Eastern Conference playoff team automatically that's fascinating to me I mean I'm not saying it's. It's definitely borderline I mean that's probably Versus magic or something like that. The rockets say no I think they would inclined to say no, it's just. Yeah. The rockets definitely have to improve. and. Do you want? Kevin Love is your center? It's like he has to give it on both ends. It would be there will be problems there as much as as talented as Kevin love is Russell Westbrook the idea was James Harden will get you to the. West will get you to the postseason with all his energy that expands during the regular season at heart. It'll be fresh and try and finish the job Kevin Love you know is he going to be on the floor for the whole time like Russell Westbrook can be I would think that the cavs would say yeah. Okay. But I think the rockets Nah Nah. So it's who says, no, the rocket says task Lee. What do you think about this one? You love these as soon as I just a reminder to everyone at there soon as I say who says now at deleted immediately without reading until we get to the show and then I tried to evaluate it on the fly I would love to feel weird approach. I would love to be in the room when someone says Russell Westbrook Victory Cleveland I'd like to see his reaction. I didn't think he'd be too thrilled about that it in theory plan. Okay. See for a decade, but he doesn't WANT TO BE IN CLEVELAND. Okay see we were Casey we total we'd go by driver Cleveland they don't even tumbleweeds. Candidate You know look I think Kevin Love would love to play in Houston Fisher I. think that's suit a suit teams like right James Hot and could be the point guard I'll just going to shoot three's old to play on defense so I think he would like it but it's hard to sort of say either team being sort of super thrilled by it because Kevin Love is he gonNa you know as as we've seen the best of him already I think It's really doesn't move the needle that much for Houston so I can't really see are the team. Going through with it I mean the young players gallon we just haven't seen enough really do understand if he's going to be good player in this league I some people behind him others not but it's like on a team like Cleveland where they just don't win and they're just not in the national view, it's very hard to evaluate him. So I wouldn't just give up on a young player immediately like that who they were, what are they going to let nano ten I think in the Was He. Was He. Yeah. anyway. Doing the research. I think if you if you. Can Get Kevin love without having to give up Westbrook Eli shorten their payrolls be bad I eight, hundred, million dollars but. He suits he plays the WII. The rockets would like him to play like just go at there and shoot threes and grab some rebounds and that's why it does. If fits in Theory Kevin Love fits the style in theory, but he's got to play both ends he's got to work as but off. To play both ends Houston you know if you're going to play. In the playoffs you have to be they were working their butts off in that postseason on the defensive end. I Times at times. I wear fish oil. That's what kept them in. Series I think well, well, against the thunder, they played really hot in that first game against the like suit behind defensively. But once a series as they kind of like. All right. And it's GonNa. It's more important. Position defensively can love at the five rather than Westbrook at the one to those guys are going to get blown by going to have to you're gonNA have to fight and scrap. If you're Kevin love all the time you're not going to be playing with another center Bobby Covington will probably be or other center who's The same height as you Kevin love is. Six seven three quarters with no shoes and It's just that. Yeah, I think I think the cavs would say why the heck nodded it's it's It's a weird one. It's definitely weird when it works the trade machine in a couple of varieties I made I made sure we're not. We're not just throwing it out there justified. What's left on his contract is he go four years left? No, they both have three or yet. Him and Kevin have three years left and Those guys. Make another all star appearance like Westbrook will make another all star team Kevin Love, make another Ulster team or just one of them or neither of them will. What did you think that? West could make the all star team if he played in the Eastern Conference and I don't necessarily think Kevin Love would So do the trade if Westbrook quantum more all star appearances I would say. He kinda got one issue that was a bit of surprise. So you know you could probably do it again. If he's. In, the Eastern conference putting up. The OLMEC triple double numbers again probably gets in just because of that but I can be worth it. If you're Dan Gilbert new say this guy will get us to the play offs. This guy will get us that extra gate money. This guy will get us that extra notoriety that Kate left couldn't this year literally the money that you're having to pay out more for Westbrook gets paid off immediately know I do that weird one that's a fascinating one. Thanks for that one JOE WHO SAYS JOE We said. Turns out. Joe This..

Cavs' Love: Mental health vital during COVID-19
"Cavs forward Kevin love telling our Jackie MacMullan that mental health is vital during this pandemic adding it's really scary what's going on in the world right now but if you don't have to suffer through it alone love has become a mental health advocate since going public in twenty eighteen about his own mental health issues now may is dental health awareness month as the reality is that millions of Americans live with mental illness the idea is to raise awareness about mental health to help fight the stigma provide support educate the public and advocate for policies that support people with mental illness and their

"Know in these underprivileged under serviced areas You know these these kids. I mean just aren't getting treated in. A lot of them are going through various things at at a younger age in for for that they're susceptible to a number of underlying health conditions. And a lot of that can be coming from both the physical and the mental. But even if you just look at in terms of You know people of color that our therapists are people of color that Work in psych departments or anything of that nature. It's it's like I think less than five percent so you know they're they're not growing up or learning to to trust you know the health system in this way because they in some cases they feel like they failed him. So that's that's another thing that I'm really trying to to stress in my therapist is a person of color in person that. I've connective win in a in a very big way so I think people need to find a way that are In the medical field to Have a lot of diversity. I think it's so so so important to to see that because that human potential and the You know getting under served in in such a big way and that getting lost on people is Something that needs to change moving forward and I think you make a great point. That's this is incredibly incredibly important to You know it's not just about You know taking that curve and and you know making sure that it's dropping off but also in underserved areas making sure that everybody's getting a equal shot and everybody's getting a fair shot at at staying healthy living in reaching their potential in that way because this is this is something that again like this virus doesn't it doesn't care who you are doesn't doesn't discriminate. But you know there's some people that Are you know things are available to them far more so than they would be elsewhere? So that's a that's a great point that you bring up and I wish I could speak to it more more at length but I do more work on that side and I think Look I think of we return to the world that we were before having this inequality that already existed but so glaring now in this crisis then we failed everyone We have to come out of this changed not by nature. I'm not always all the way optimistic but I feel like there's a lot of good that can come out of this and it'll be eye-opening and that's you know. Obviously we've been trying to tackle that topic for a long time but maybe it took something Devastating for a number of people across You know all socio Economic Status Gender Profile Sexual preference like whatever it is. It doesn't matter. It does not discriminate. So that's that's the hope for all of this. Yeah it's true. I think you said nothing unites us like a common enemy. And that's what we have now also just to end a shoutout to an amazing woman in your life. Dr Michele Crass who I know has done a lot of this work with you at Ucla where you went to school and just a lot of credit to her as well. Big Shout out to Michelle Cross. He's been incredibly important in my understanding of You know why things are the way they are what research is going to look like going forward. And she's she's a superstar. I mean I remember just looking at all the things she had done in her career up to this point and all her accolades and who. How many lives you've saved and you can't put you know a quantity. We can put a number on that. But she's just her whole life is geared towards. You know helping people so she's a season inspiration for me. I feel like she should have number retired in the rafters of somebody's Statue Jersey. Yes like I come in. I'm coming down the corridor and I'm telling you know I feel like I'm telling people. Hey this is my experience. And this is what I've learned and then she'll allow it up to her and she'll just you know she'll slam it home because she just she is so smart she just she takes everything that I've said it makes me makes me. I guess I don't know she makes me look good. But she's like okay. This is why you feel that way. And she's she's so transparent and yeah. The understanding is so important Kevin. Thank you really for being outspoken. On this front. It's a scary thing to step into when you're one of the first to speak out in your role but you did and I think it's changed people's lives and in this moment. I think we all need to hear it. "Kevin love thanks for taking the time. I appreciate you having me on. We're going to spend a lot of time talking about mental health and isolation and helping one another In a in a moment like this in a crisis like this but before we get there if we could just start with how dramatically things have changed. I mean looking at the NBA schedule. That was your team. The Cleveland cavs. Were supposed to be playing. I think the Brooklyn Nets down the block from where I live and the Atlanta Hawks and right now and that's obviously not happening. So what what's Your Life Flake? These days Think just like everybody else. Finding ways to stay busy stay active. I mean I'm such a creature of habit so routine for me getting up making my bed and you get into breakfast and I always make sure that are always trying shower and put my workout clothes on. So it's incentive to get my work done early work out but it's just the only way you go. I have to do that immediately in the morning on the weekends. I will just eat pancakes and not a hundred percent or or you know what? I'm going to have another coffee here. Just like then lethargy sets in and you just kind of keep pushing it back pushing it back pushing it back but I think that's awesome form of resistance. I have to stay active and have to feel like I'm checking things off no matter how small To feel like I'm accomplishing something. So That's how I'm navigating this time but I know everybody's finding their own ways to find joy and happiness speaking of joy. You like to to quote Shakespeare WanNA share with us a one done joy soul lies in the doing. That's that's Actually at the very top of my notes I've had that quote probably for ten years and it's it's so true. Just you know accomplishing things. Getting things done feeling like you're part of the winning side of history in the part of something bigger than yourself. That's something that I've really kind of geared toward lean toward and his very fitting for for what I'm trying to do kind of who I am as a person things one are done joys soul lies in the doing you have micro goals like every day even now when there are no games and you don't know when the next one will be what are micro goals that helped. Kevin love get through the day. Try to do now is even on days when I'm taking it. A little bit lighter in the gym. I'm trying to whether it's outside walking my dog. Dogs are great because they force you to get outside or Just you know unfortunate enough to be able to afford and have a treadmill in the space in my house and I've been trying to walk six miles a day. I what might seem like a lot for me. It's one of those things that I just have to check off so if I do three miles in the morning that's like an hour and a half a walk. It is exactly you know it's funny for for me. I'm trying to do. Yeah four miles an hour so it's about an hour half a walking but it could be something as simple as making your bad. It could be something as for me. It's it's hydrate and getting into bed at the same time. So those little goals in most of minor Feel like routine based or health-based but those are incredibly important for me in. Add Up over time to make you more well rounded and more evolved. What do you do on the treadmill are you? I don't think you're the Kinda guy that is like reading your phone and sending emails and like falls off the back are you. Are you like meditating? Are you talking to your mom on the phone? Are you listening to the podcast? I am actually. I'm listening to podcasts. I also am reading as well or not not reading my phone but I am audio book. I'm listening to something or depending on what my mood is. At the time I'll be listening to music so you know typically if it's something that you know it's not going to be like I'm lifting weights or doing high end cardio that sort of thing so typically listening to something slightly more soothing but also you know with the walking still sticking sort of rhythm all right so let's let's get to the matter at hand and why I I really wanted to talk to Let's go back to twenty seventeen because this was a pivotal moment. Change Your Life completely. You're on the court to November two thousand seventeen year playing against the hawks. And you have an. You have a panic attack. Use for people who haven't read your powerful essay in the player's Tribune. What happened. Yes owes on November fifth of that year. And I it had been actually leading up to that point Very very tough for me. There have been a number of things that You know had dipped in my life or things that I was struggling with and things that semi into a depression so I was. You know I wasn't able to stay. President I was I was looking back in just dealing with things that that I was putting off or compartmentalizing saying you know what I'll deal with that later. And you know as as I feel like America or even you know if you look across the world I feel like we celebrate people who kind of beat their emotions into submission and that was me. Yeah especially men right especially men. Yeah I can speak at length about that too because I was one of those kids and that was my playboy. Could actually talk about that. Not at length with a little bit in that player's Tribune article but then moving forward it. Just it just seems hopeless like I think you know. The opposite of happiness is hopelessness like it's a crisis of hope so if you look at Zaidi or or depression or really. Any mental illness amounts at mental health. Problem I feel like that's at the root of all of it. But a lot of the pillars in my life had continued to fall. You know whether it be family whether it be relationships whether it be Things happening outside of the basketball court but the basketball was my last pillar to fall where we were expected to be. Such a great team teams was expected to go to the finals You don't have really high hopes in restarted awful and myself. I wasn't playing so great either. So that just all came up to me was the perfect storm of me. Having a panic attack Yeah was November. Fifth of of twenty seventeen against the Atlanta Hawks. Mansard locker room so much of the time I had just exploded in anger or it was just a a major outburst and I always had somewhere to go in in this setting. It was extremely public and I ran into locker room. You know short Brad feeling like I was gonna Fade feeling like I was having cardiac arrest and I thought you know this You know Is this like I don't know what's going on? So maybe that actually You know on oxygen on the on the floor of my athletic trainer Steven Speros Office and after that went to the Cleveland Clinic. One of it's not the best hospital in the world depending on who you ask skin. Everything checked out so I thought okay what just happened. I am so that was an attorney in my life where I had to look at myself in the mirror and say okay. I need to seek therapy. It wasn't until it actually got worse before it got better the headline of the pieces. Everyone's going through something and you say for twenty nine years. I thought about mental health. Someone else's problem and that asking for help was a form of weakness that could derail my success in sports or make me seem weird and different and you you call publicly writing this the biggest thing in your entire career. It's so relevant now in this moment because so many people can't even go to therapy. Let alone afford therapy and their their mental health issues are exacerbated in a moment like this no they absolutely are and I think because of cove in nineteen and you're isolated and you're you're feeling that sense of loneliness. This is really a pandemic that nobody's talking about. And that needs name. Mental Health Mental Health and kidneys to continue to come to the to the forefront and people need to talk about because it just I. I don't know I can't really put my finger on something or reach out and touch something. That is more you know as a bigger thief of of human potential. We look at actually my fun. There's there's four pillars stigma. So it's it's just incredibly important that we continue.
NBA Players Paying Arena Worker Salaries In Lieu Of Season
"The griffins making a hundred thousand dollar donation to aid workers at little Caesars arena affected by the stoppage business at eight home games remaining with the league announced the hiatus due to corona virus Cavaliers Kevin love was the first NBA star to make a hundred thousand dollar pledge for Reno workers New Orleans forward Zion Williamson the topic in last year's draft his pledge to cover the salaries for all of the pelicans arena staff workers for the next
Kevin Love donates $100,000 to support arena workers
"NBA star Kevin love is donating one hundred thousand dollars to support arena workers amid the season suspension the Cleveland cavalier announced on Instagram that he's donating the money through his act Kevin love fund to support those who will need assistance the most and who are facing a sudden life shift because of the suspension he also urged other players to join him during what he called this time of
Sports on Hiatus - The Economic Fallout
"Where were you when you found out that the NBA was going on hiatus? And how did you feel? I was at work at the Kings game. It was around. Maybe nine ish when I heard about the NBA and it was actually a little devastating. Because I knew we would be out of work and if the NBA cancelled it would only be a trickle effect down to the rest of the major sports. How will not working for an extended period of time affect you personally? I mean it's GonNa Affect me a lot That's my only source of income. I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. Where do you do you know? What do you do when something like this happened? This has never happened to us before. So it's hard to say I mean we don't know what the outcome's GonNa be with how long this is. GonNa be but I trust in my union and I trust and the company that I worked for that. They're going to work something out for on Wednesday night mark. Cuban is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks said he was trying to set up a program to help arena workers throughout this suspension. Are you hopeful that something similar might happen in Los Angeles yes? I'm very hopeful that that will happen. And I think that he's a classy owner for even saying that for even thinking about the workers you know nobody really thinks about the people that do all the behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly on any given event. It's about five thousand workers. Five to six thousand people working. We have security. We HAVE TICKET TAKERS. Cook Surburb Bartenders cashiers? Supervisor's what are you hearing from your other Co Workers? They're asking me about their health because I'm a shop steward for the Union. So they're asking me about their health insurance. Are they going to have health insurance in the timeframe that we're not working and I don't have those answers yet you know they're still working those things out so I'm not sure? How did you first start working at the staple center in the first place? A friend of mine told me that staple center with having a job fair and when I got there it was like so many people maybe about two or three thousand people there. I was thinking to myself. It's so many people here. There's no way I might get this job but I got hired here. I am fifteen years later. Do you like working there. I love working at Staples Center. It's the best job to be. It's a great atmosphere. I've met so many different people from so many different walks of life to laugh with those people. We've even cried at the Kobe. Memorial cried when the tragic incident with Kobe happened. Been happy with these people rejoiced with these people. I mean it's the greatest environment to be in in my opinion. What would you say to the NBA? Or I guess ask of the NBA as it attempts to navigate this crisis. I that a ensure that everyone is safe and to not just think about the money that they make that they also think about people that are out of work people. That don't have insurance doesn't matter if you're rich or you don't have money. People are people. So that's what I would say. Adelaide is one of many there are thousands of workers across America working at sports venues. Arenas and these folks are going to see their income hurt in the short term. Because they're not going to be able to work these events. That's Patrick Rish Director of the Sports Business Program at the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis Patrick at this point. We don't know how many people in that includes athletes are going to have their health affected by this outbreak. But we know that event like this as a way of exposing to everyone the size and scope of an industry in its economic impact. There are many layers to that that I want to get into but I as pretty much all of sports goes on hiatus. How big is this industry in America? What mean it's pretty sizable. You talk about. The sports is one of the twenty largest industries in America. A billion dollar industry the service workers as we mentioned are really impacted in the short term and it does depend on whether these leagues are simply suspended or whether games are cancelled because it suspended and the Games are made up later in the summer. Then there's not as much of a hit but if there's a cancellation if this burns. Two months in the league's can't squeeze in their completion of their season by the end of the summer. Then you're gonNA find a real hit financially. These service workers on Wednesday night news broke that Utah. Jazz Senate rubare tested positive for the krona virus. Which stopped that game. It sort of kicked off a chain reaction around the NBA. That ultimately leads the League hitting pause at the same time. Mark Cuban the owner of the Dallas Mavericks was interviewed at his own game and talked about the workers about the old. Now that we're not playing games. What about all the people who work here analogy basis? You know we put. We'll put together a program for them but you so many things go through your head right. It's hard to know exactly. How vulnerable are these workers if something like this was to persist for a long period of time? They're very vulnerable because many of them working in this profession they don't necessarily have college degrees a lot of them. I can speak in. Saint Louis and I know this is true in other markets if somebody is bender expert medium for baseball game. They're going to be a vendor at the Enterprise Centre for Blues Game so where these folks again. Many of them be surprised if their annual incomes or any hired say maybe twenties to mid thirty thousand dollars a year so it's really very susceptible of course the lodging in the restaurant industry in these markets. They're hurt too. Certainly I again here in Saint Louis. We were supposed to host first second round the championships. That's not going to be here this year because of what's happened so certainly the hotels take a hit. A restaurant take a hit. In addition hearing from Cuban we also found out that Cavaliers Star Kevin love as planning to commit a hundred thousand dollars to help arena workers and support staff Patrick aside from personal generosity what can the NBA in its owners. Do to help these workers I think one thing they can do is in these communities they can use their own. Hr STABS with their teams to try to help them. Connect with temp agencies or other forms of means trying to find at least temporary employment opportunities to find work but just as the sports industry is getting hit with. What's going on here? This is widespread. There are several industries right now that feels somewhat frozen. There's a fear. Obviously that's on a mock nationally so this does have an impact on not just the sportsman the other businesses. So even if Mark Cuban or lake up or any of the other owners were to try to use their. Hr STABS to help their staff by physicians locally. That may be challenging right now right. You mentioned the cottage industry around Sports. The impact potentially on hotels and restaurants tourism. But normally you know win. There aren't sports other tourism steps in however I imagine everything is going to be impacted by this so it all just compounds no question in particular March madness and all the other. Ncaa's championships you know the big difference between the MTA championship bands. Whether it's basketball hockey wrestling is that these pods and regionals and final fours. Losing fours and the like a large percentage of the visitors are coming from outside of the community. You can't say that for the NBA in the NHL. Most of those games five or ten percent of the fans are coming from outside of the market so the hotels the restaurants really impacted but then how these other industries Meena instance thing. I'll just kinda bring it locally here since we're being impacted by this now. The local sports commission busted their tail to put a bid for this event and bring the event the Saint Louis all that time and effort that they put in. They don't see any of a commission on the back end. How about all the event production stabs and the sound and lighting engineers? And then. Of course you've got people like Uber and lift or people that operate. A A buddy that operates a video bending machine business here. So if people aren't coming then they're not going to restaurants. They're not playing his touch. Screeners Golden
NBA championship odds: Lakers still lead pack despite quiet trade deadline; Clippers improve chances
"Did you make of the two teams? How do you feel about them currently? Wow Oh well I I I I stand by. I think the clippers have long time then the favorites. I think the way that the Lakers have played This season and how they've consistently consistently performed Dwight Howard has been a pleasant surprise. I think Kyle Kuzma with the injury to start off the season. He he hasn't really gun the things that they would like. These are very good contributor. But I think that the clippers with all the management and and Paul George Missing Time and some Injuries and you look at where they are there. Second Right now and for me. I think that the clippers are the best team right are they. Are the team that come at at the end of the day you're going to have to go through in order to try and win a championship. Even though the Lakers have the best record and it looks like the Lakers are GonNa have home court At at this point in time if it were to start today I still feel like you know the clippers. The team that you're GONNA have to be in order to win the whole thing Richard. How all surprising that? The rockets decided to go full monty. There Bison not only are we gonNA run small lineups. We won't even carry a gun on the roster who would allow us to run any sort of other type lineups. Well it's a at this point in time. If you look at Dantonio you look at Dell Maury winter. We've we've had they not gone all in on whatever they believe right. What do they have to lose? They've been criticized up and down and make pulled off some pretty impressive trade getting in Chris. Paul getting in Russell Westbrook. They've done some really really good things to pair With with James Harden James Harden continuingly improved his offense of game. But it's like I'm not surprised anymore. It's like they look at their team. And they're like the way we're structured right now. We're probably up for a first or second round loss What can we do to really shocked at? How can we try and change things up? And they made them moved. ooh They believed that adding Covington and giving up Cappella and they just WanNa go all small ball kind of like what you would see from the Golden State Warriors for for a time So I'm not surprised by it. I think that you know everyone out. There is fighting for their job. I think Daryl Morey I think I think You look at Dan Tony think these guys are low key fighting for their jobs so if they know that first or second round loss possibly could be the end to their tenure. So why not try and go all whatever you believe. Richard Jefferson hanging out with this year. Makes you check them out today. Five o'clock Indiana Toronto. ESPN mean is also in studio with us as well by the way. You're listening to Los Angeles. So Richard Let me ask you this about what Brian said yesterday specifically in regards to that game like he he kind of talked about their lack of focus on defense. Where do you think the Lakers can get better on defense? Can they do it. Internally you have again you have some talented players and I. I always proceed very cautiously when you have a game like that and everyone wants to run and talk about it and break it down like look Russell. Westbrook had a great great game. Houston shot the ball extremely well if you send shot the ball like that against anybody on any given night. They're going to win that game Even Dan Tony said in his interview. He's like hey I understand what we're doing is different It all has to do with whether or not these guys will buy in and tonight was a big step that they would have gone out and got him blasted in a D had forty five right an twenty six against them. Everybody in that Houston Rocket Locker. Room would be questioning. What's what's going on? They would be getting murdered by the media. It would be going crazy but they were fortunate to get that win in La which very hard place to play and now. Everyone's questioning the Lakers. Well look I believe this. I believe that the Lakers are great regular season team. I think that last night they should've stayed with the White Howard. You can't Anthony Davis if there's a difference between being like having your numbers be dominant and actually being dominant and physically dominant. Anthony Davis just. Wasn't that Anthony. Davis Davis is not an again. I hate to talk about. What player isn't because he is a million great in every anybody would want them on their team but he's not a guy that just going to low post blocks doc band you up and then go and shoot a five-foot Hook shot and don't because he worked position that's why he runs the floor so well so he can get that early early post up in a great position and it's harder to guard but in the postseason when it becomes half court basketball? That's what the Houston Rockets are depending on when it becomes a half half halfcourt basketball game and they can spread it out and just have Russell James go to work and kick it out to more shooters so everyone had their theory. It's just a matter of WHO's going to be able to impose their will Richard One of the things that That's happening for the Lakers. This year is that when Lebron plays the offense is is tremendous right there. They're one of the best offensive teams out there. But when he doesn't play when he's not on the floor I should say that offense becomes very anemic even when Anthony Davis was an. MVP candidate in his own right is on the floor. And it reminded me of the years in In Cleveland the three years that Love Irving and and Lebron were together. When Lebron didn't play that team wasn't just not a great team not wasn't just a below five hundred they were awful and given that you've been on the inside you've been on a Lebron James Team? Can you explain to me how that is. How talented players? Once you remove this one guy turned into a bad basketball team. I think it's it's style of play. It's continuity I think that's something that it's it's weird because Lebron James is always you typically been healthy. She's always played in seventy five or more games except for last year due to the groin injury. So it's like this is the guy that each up eighty ninety percent of like court time. So you're what what you're really referencing is like non-core time and even then comes the postseason. This is a man that's going to go from playing thirty seven minutes a night thirty eight. He's going to go up to like forty three forty four minutes a night. 'cause there's no bags and there's no practices for most of his energies just using games. So what you're really talking about is how do you play Good Basketball for eight to ten minutes in it for twelve minutes and that can be tough to find that continuity. It's tough because it's such a small sample size right and yes it's a small. It's a large sample size is when you look at how often it happens. But it's very very difficult for coaches to be like how we're GONNA play for this ten to twelve minutes when the broncos out of the game because when he's in the game everything's everything's perfect. Everything's runs great room and I think that's the challenge. The coaches have a lot of people are talking about Darren. Collison coming in and then interrogating him bats. That's the challenge and it's and it's been a long time. The bron James Challenge is how do we play that 'cause they had with Kyrie Kyrie is a great score but it's like when Bronco go out of the game game that was an opportunity for Kyrie to really explore and really play his game and get his rhythm will Kyrie's rhythm might not necessarily be the rhythm for the the other guys on the court and I thought knock on Kyrie. If just like broad had the ball handed Kyrie was basically a two guard. Then Kai Bronco Ga.. The game in Cairo would become the point guard. But this was an opportunity to get going scoring and maybe throw the ball into Kevin Love. which when you had the surrounding guys there wasn't an offense? There wasn't a continuity beauty for us to play through so there's good still Lebron and there's challenges to Lebron. I wouldn't even call that bad but I think this final stretch is going to be key but understand. He's going to play more minutes in the postseason. So you can't really say like hey we need to figure out what we're GONNA do when he's out of the game because that's just realistically he's going to be in the game Ormeau. Richard Jefferson with this year on the Sodano show on ESPN. This actually leads perfectly into my next question. This is good chemistry right here. These three guys. So Rondo they have Rondo. Problem is a net negative player. He's been that for seven seasons now but to a means point it falls off a cliff. He's usually usually the guy that has to lead that second unit. I don't think they can afford to play him anymore. To be honest with you what do you do if you do agree with me. What do you do with Ronda how do you how do you manage? Rondo at this point Well I I think there's there's two components there's an on the court and then there's a locker room right. There's a locker component and it's like a like say what you want about Rondo. He's a very dynamic guy on and off the court so you WanNa make sure that Rondo understands what your is your team goals are. I think Rondo is in a very different space. And he was years and years ago whether it was in Dallas when I played with them or leaving Boston I think Rondos one of those guys that in this moment right here they need to find. I I think that's Darren Collison being. It's so big the need to find one more guy that can compliment that second unit And so yes do but you gotta look at what can you do. He's a net negative guy adding Rondo very very rare. But no one really questions Kenney still play is he's still a contributor when you're just looking at the second unit and when I tell you that the six years prior that's one thing this year I I mentioned it early.
Biggest losers from 2020 NBA trade deadline
"Go through the losers of the trade deadline but not really get into the transactions. And who did poorly knows going to go a little bigger picture check car trade deadline's grades. PODCAST trade deadline grades podcast for all the losers etc okay. Bigger picture second runner up from the trade deadline. Losers people people living in the eastern time zone why well the warriors they always planned that late game this season on the west coast but this year here. No one has had to watch him. We get to go to sleep. It's great now. They make the move for Wiggins plus curry and Thompson coming back and US on the east coast after. Stay up and watch them next season. I know you international folks are saying way manage a crap about you gotta be up till eleven twelve one. We gotta be up at five in the morning okay. You're right but this is my the situation. This is my life. It's GONNA stick next year. I haven't a watch getting wigan with every single night if he's in that time slot and I imagine they're going to get national. TV after national TV game right with curry and Klay back. That's going to be weird actually to see wiggins in sort of national TV Games. Because you don't see it a lot with the wolves over his that I hadn't really thought about that and people still hate him. I don't know if that's going to be good or bad for it will be a spewing. I'm sure next season as I think it was. Michael said Scrub those wiggins takes scrub them out of your tweets. Because maybe it'll turn it around. We'll see first runner up very tall boys and young men because the center position in the NBA. Just doesn't in pay like it used to. I won't say it's extinct because saw tall players will still be desired in the NBA. So tall boys can still make it there. But only the cream of the crop are going to get paid like high paid wings or guards for the foreseeable future. Like Yokich or a or Anthony Davis for towns the rest. They'll have jobs it just. It is desirable as it was a few years ago. So young tall. He's can go back to modeling or being cameraman and scrums important position. But do you WanNa play in the NBA anymore. Just not as great as desirable desirable. I would say if the tall buys don't want to play basketball. I suggest stick to tiddlywinks and playstation. But I'm going to give the worst of the week to the Pistons Ha. I wasn't GonNa get transactional but they couldn't get a first round pick for Andre Drummond one second round pick in two you guys who can't even play significant minutes for the cavs as what they got back we got into it on the spot but if the market was that dry why deal. I'm now dealer months ago when he was absolutely balling there's literally conversations about him being the best center in the NBA. Along with those guys. I mentioned Yokich Coca Chamba. I know it sounds crazy. But he was when he was doing. Twenty Twenty S. He was in that conversation anyways he was at the table he wasn't we wasn't one of the big but why not Dealing with it or wait till June. They got nothing. They literally got nothing. I don't see why you rush it when you when you look at it now in hindsight insight because you because you didn't want two more months of bad chemistry in the locker room well it's already bad. I mean bad culture why not have two more months and potentially get a first round pick. That's all we're asking for. I think that's nuts. It's really that's when you look at it. It is well. We couldn't believe it the bag. The beans came back for Andre Drummond. It's shocking yeah you would think a guy that is a two time all star again. That is an elite rebounder who is seventeen and and what type of guy who's pretty consistent. He plays a lot You can't even get a first round pick in today's NBA. That's tough. Yeah but they picked their direction they did the piss definitely picked a direction and said we are we are rebuilding. There is no. We don't even want to be worried about whether or not he picks up that adoption and then under contract for one more year which. I don't think he's going to do anyway still but they didn't want that concerns but then train them in June or somebody else is also going to give via a bag of beans summer. means it is crazy because we've been watching basketball for a long time and when you say those numbers like he's literally averaging eighteen sixty got it is good but anyway some big old numbers and I mean. There's a reason Andre Drummond was the first name really on the trade block. It was him and Kevin Love and know what he's given up a first round. Pick gauge it right. Like they're just like they're like. Hey Man Andre Drummond people might want it for a first round. Pick in everybody in the league was like actually no So there's got to be a tough one for him so now they're playing together. Those guys you mentioned you're on the trade boil hall my goodness yeah. Yeah what literally. What is their lineup? GonNa be. They gotta buy out Tristan Thompson. Or what they're gonNA play. Kevin love at the three clients. Don't get bought out apparent. They never give up money. That's for sure they are the opposite of the rockets. Now we've got the giant cavs at least the giant cavs. That's right I I like it because we always got those seven o'clock starts. The cavs are generally involved in one of those games. The Piston used to be and still be. But you know what I mean. They'll be watching and I'll be tuning in for the first six minutes of those Casper's there's man who loves a rebound highlight every cavs game. I can't wait I he'll be going crazy all by yourself. Isn't it it all these islands would be like. What the in the cavs game? You're like. Yeah there was like sixteen rebounds in the first quarter. You know who'll be watching John Shoe Schumer. I respect that all right so those are the worst of the
Biggest Winners and Losers from 2020 NBA Trade Deadline
"We we knew about the I drink a dollar to the heat move last night during the show a couple other notable NBA trades at the deadline which was three PM on Thursday the Angelo Russell ends up being moved when you go to the T. wolves enter wegen so we talked about last night goes to the warriors a bunch of other players involved in that trade as well among them Amari Spelman the little product who is actually a pretty good year in Golden State lost some weight but he ends up with the T. wolves Marcus Morris goes to the clippers went with a bunch of other guys involved in that one that's a good move for the clippers Andre Drummond what are the cavs doing exactly someone explain to me what the cavs are doing but that was a mystery our and and yes we do we do Robert Covington was was headed to the rockets that's another one what what are the cavs doing like he's exactly that is a great question and they keep Kevin love who yeah just yeah just absolute killing the the cat the the cap any semblance of chemistry they could have their weird some weird stuff I I mean B. line was a we're hiring to begin with yeah whatever and then the true complete just given away drumming for free because they were so terrified he would accept the player option that they gave him right right yeah and they don't move canard or anybody else yeah like what what what anyway was for an employer from Derrick rose of like the got developing at a T. rex tanking you're not nothing if you just get rid of them for cap purposes get rid of yeah I don't know very strange odds and ends but they get a dollar helps the heat they weren't able to pull off the Gallinari trade which would help them offensively but you know markets Mars will be a a good addition to the clippers if you just stay somewhat sane they should be okay with him but he could do a lot of different things we know we can stretch it out a little but you could do a lot of different things to help you for sure so there was there were some of the some of the bigger moves the Sixers moves were of the minor variety which you kind of figured surprising though re some of the accounts that you know they really weren't even having conversations regarding or for Harris that that just tells you a some of that is you know pride stubbornness we made these moves we invested a lot of money in these guys resources in these guys we're gonna roll with them you know it cetera and they also don't want to have yet another season with a major blockbuster deal like that had the last couple of seasons cell you're kind of a two fold thing there but the bottom line is if you're gonna continue with the slide out you need to change it up Brett brown slash Elton brand slash whoever's making the call on that you can't continue this definition of insanity hoping it's going to change because it's not gonna change and less you change it unless you do something be proactive to
Lowe: How two contenders went all-in at the trade deadline
"If we look at the actual deals with the contenders the Miami Heat and the and the clippers in terms of contenders moves. Yes Yup move forward at the deadline going forward. I think you see the Minnesota Timberwolves have made a big move forward. I'm not really sure. What the Cleveland Cavaliers have done? They made a big Zach. Lowe's point about the cavs. Good one at that price. Why aren't you making that deal? WAS CLEVELAND LIKE YOU HAVE A. You have a chance at a twenty six year old all-star to you know you have three months to answer to young team I think is really gonNA develop here in the next couple of days is unless there's a last minute deal that will just tell us about and you can use that again Thomson was not traded. That's right there was like six centers traded over this last three days. Tristan Thompson was not one of them. There has been a belief in the League and frankly his agent has been cleared. Paul's been clear. That Tristan is interested in taking a buyout. Because if you take AK- buyout even if he doesn't plan on being with the cavs you lose your bird rights and you can't be executed assigning trait but considering where they are now we're android is going to be their starting center. He has to play a a lot of minutes going down. The Stretch Tristan is not gonNA play not going to be able to improve his value. I think the chances of Tristan Thompson buyout have increased dramatically. That means if you're a fan of the Boston Celtics your ears perk way up right now. The Boston Celtics would be major in the market for such a good fit there. Right absolutely and the clippers who still have believe it or not. The clippers could could still use a center. I think if he becomes available over the clippers looking for more shooting at that position he could come there. But if you're a Boston Celtics Fan right now. Even though your team didn't do anything you are really picking a very close eye on Tristan Thompson. Because Tristan Thompson goes to the Celtics that could be the type of move that changes the balance of the Power Easter. Well first of all to finish up on the cavs. I would say this that they have had a hard time getting the rest of the League to think that Kevin Love worth what they think Kevin love this and they have been at Har. It's been they haven't been able to make a deal because of that. Well if you got Andre Drummond not for free but for a very small price. Maybe you let Kevin love go for a lower price than you thought you were going to. Maybe that's what it's about it's about this Andre Drummond and has a twenty eight million dollar player option which he may or may not pick up. I would advise him to pick it up. The CAVS are looking at like we did about twenty million cap room they. I don't think they could use that. Twenty million on the player better than Andre Drummond. So in a way this was a free agent. Move whether or not he keeps. He picks up the Optional Sarah. So let's move on from Andre Drummond. I WANNA get to Paul Paul. Can you go directly into your camera. Here and make a pitch to Tristan Johnson to talk to buy outs or the one player that can put the Boston Celtics Celtics over the top taking a couple extra less. Millions is work. But you don't know the answer is you. Don't take any money. They make the cavs by you out. Because they've they've they've just traded for your replacement but then you go sign and get more of my life could be part of a of another friend and these France table talk need a physical presence. A veteran leader champion.

Under Armour's Outgoing and Incoming CEOs Discuss the Company's Future
"There's been a changing of the guard at under armor Kevin plank is stepping down as the CEO of the sports apparel company he started in nineteen ninety five jun Patrick Frisco under armors president and C. O. O. will step in as a new C. E. O. as of January first and Bloomberg's Caroline hide sat down with the outgoing and incoming CEOs to talk about the leadership transition CO often twenty three he is having that's found in this business started in in your grandmother's basement well the cast list for the change now I think it's a it's a it's a great opportunity for some first of all this is completely my decision of course in concert with a terrific board directors something will work out for a while really since she joined your two and a half years ago and that was for the process of getting to know each other and work with each other and understand what the vision is but you know recently been talking about this idea of moving from defense to offense were you seen as in transformational last few years and really it's it's just the perfect opportunity for the business to do that and what I think is really gives us is this ability for freedom is because as we were growing it's difficult because this patcher kept sending the organization you know moving things underneath the Patrick it was whose hands are on the wheel and I wanna make sure that something is always clear it's impossible to be affected if that's not the case and so my move into this role of being executive chairman and branch chief I still have the ability to work and do the things I think I need to do to happen the organizational out there during the day to day and I can get you the vision think on behalf of the business defend itself and the vision spend it for us because you say in the release that is time the realization of its full potential what is the full potential of honor on the full potential we laid out we believe quite quite good last year in our in our investor day and and you know one of the great things about this transition right now is this the plan you know it's been a planned transition so we worked on it for quite some time he also worked on the plan for quite sometime and not just the two of us but also the entire leadership team in the entire company we're very confident that you know the way we're thinking about the the business right now the way that we're thinking about where we compete athletic performance who were for the focus performer and actually also a brand positioning on the reformers company is going to allow us to continue to be successful inside of a flood of performance and like Kevin said you know as we turn the corner to twenty twenty which is C. from under armors allowed her brand you know we're turning from defense to offense which was planned it all along so we believe the transition now really sets us up to be able to have continuity in leadership consistency in execution ultimately enables us to win you know over the long term ultimately Kevin asked me to come here to to help him you know with the vision of becoming a turn around and that's what we believe we're on our path to doing and you talk about performance performance performance performance rather than say perhaps leisure but you both say that ran on drama talks at the moment gentleman and I I'm guessing it was gonna what kind of some point today but perhaps not immediately say you're going to look for more is this really something you remain very focused upon and showing these are fit for purpose and usable rather than every day wandering around the kitchen you know we we we love that question we love it because we don't look at the two things a separate you know today if you want to appeal to the consumer we know this from all the work we do with consumer insights you have to look good you have to look beautiful and Kevin love to talk about beautiful performance or there is still perform and you know that's how we think about it so the way that people ultimately choose to wear our
The Cavaliers Just Stunned the Basketball World by Hiring John Beilein
"John B line is not staying in an Arbor reliant is leaving Michigan. And adding to the NBA where he's taking over as the new coach the Cleveland Cavaliers. He's the winningest coach in the history of the Michigan program para final four appearances in his twelve years there twenty thirteen in two thousand eighteen now he takes over a rebuilding project in Cleveland getting a five year deal with the Cavs ESPN analyst docket. I think that if I'm the Cavs. I would much rather have HIV line in some. I don't know guy. That's never really done a whole lot. Now, there's not a lot of guys in college that you can go to the NBA all that kind of stuff the peelings. Here's a great pamper. My son played form is great temperamental players ended development. The the rules of the game aren't going to hurt his style at all because rules are different very different. But I think it's a great gift of the Cavaliers? But as you will know, you guys will get some players if you don't that's a bad roster. And you may get some players if you if you're gonna make this work, no matter who the coaches, Dan with that being said, this is a big summer. A lot of free agency conversation how excited a player's going to be in the NBA to play for a coach while he's had a lot of success. It's been in college. It's interesting. I think that I am gonna change a little bit. A lot of players were always talking about got playing league for me to play with you. I think I think people have seen that's going to differ way. Look, let's be on if money talks if the Cavaliers have more money than somebody else. Go get who they want. But also city talks, and I couldn't personally I mean, I I'm a big fan of Cleveland. I love going there when I was coaching bowling green is just two hours away. But if I'm twenty two years old, I got pocket full of cash twenty five years old. I put cash I don't really Cleveland would be a destination. No matter who the coaches unless I'm LeBron I'm from there. So, you know, the guys that are truly going to make a difference probably gonna go to New York probably gonna go to LA probably gonna go to those cities, regardless. But I'm saying is as much as coaching can make a difference in the NBA, which you can some John. We'll make that difference. He will. He is a very good basketball coach on all sides. Offense defense transition. He is a perk. Perfect to handle all ages, older, younger whatever but come on. You got you gotta have guys in aging. Kevin love a hopefully for him developing Colin sex. And then who knows what you got in the middle between Tristan Thompson, and and the rest, and then you gotta hope you win the lottery you throw throw Zion with those guys. Maybe you got something but mandate like like, I remember when his was going to go the Cavaliers he desperately. All you wanna do is talk. Lebron James and see what the Brian James was thinking LeBron his people wouldn't talk to him. There's no Brown there. And you know, what if you can come in the same time as I'm Lehman, we really good thing for it'd be let in Cleveland is this a risk worth taking when you're a guy who's got an eight twenty nine to four sixty eight college record has been transformative at Michigan and your sixty six for jar. I think it's a absolute win win. I mean, you know, sixty six years old. He's leaving comfort sixty six five years. Let's say I don't know six seven eight million dollar cost of living. Cleveland's not bad. If you're going to do it. You do it. Now. That's it. Right. I mean, you're not gonna be offered this five years from now. So I I like it for both. I really do. I think John made the only choice that he could make it. In fact, he was going to leave. Now, if he wasn't gonna leave if he was married to Michigan. Then you obviously, don't even entertain it. But if you're thinking about it. And you sixty six five year deal. Let's go and John gets a five year deal to leave in and head to Cleveland. And yes. It was a headline about an MBA coaching higher. But are Stephen a Smith says? And you got job be Lana. Head coach for the Michigan. Wolverines is the new head confident Cleveland Cavaliers, no problem there. It's news. Here's my point. What the hell is the segment about it? Who cares? I'm John Williamson with the draft tomorrow that might be different. But since you announced this before we know whether or not the Cleveland Cavaliers going to have the number one overall pick which undoubtedly is going to be I on Winston in the upcoming NBA who gives a damn about the Cleveland Cavaliers the pros not there anymore. Kevin loved Sydney on his way out. Don't talk to that man by keeping them in Cleveland some someplace where he could compete for championship. He's a damn good player who the hell out this day. Give a damn about Cleveland graduates. Bravo. Gravel. It's so touching confined. And. I'm sorry. Cleveland the bras there anymore. No one cares about you right now. No, no, no. Your day is common
Love plays just 6 minutes in return
"Love return tonight from is three months sabbatical with his foot injury. Does that not amaze anyone the amount of time that that guy? Mrs in the NBA. I mean, it has he not been like one catastrophic injury after the next and he went one of five tonight from downtown at four points and one rebound. One assist hasn't played in three months. Played six minutes in the game. I mean is that not turned into an utter disaster. This guy's injuries and his. Career. I mean seriously. He never plays. He's always injured then comes back after missing three months. And we're all what are we supposed to do? Stop everything we're doing and roll out the red carpet forum. And here we go again with Kevin love until his next catastrophic injury. I mean, I've never seen anyone denial. Anyone that gets injured more than that guy? Seriously, who is it? He's always injured. It's any has the worst. Luck of anyone I've ever seen right as breaking hands and everything else. It's crazy.
Kevin Durant: 'I Just Don't Trust' Media; 'I Have Nothing to Do with the Knicks'
"Well, we're talking a lot about Kevin Durant. And what happened last night Durant had not spoken to the media for eight days that ended last night the warriors smoked the San Antonio Spurs. And after the game Durant sat down and spoke with or you might wanna say spoke to the media here was Durant. Pushing back at a column in the ass by Ethan shrouds. You gotta do Ethan Strauss who come in here. Yeah. Just give his whole opinion on stuff and make it seem like it's coming from me. And he just walking around here. Don't talk to nobody just walk in here. And survey is something like that. And now. Yeah, pollen on me because I don't wanna talk to you about that nothing to do with the Knicks don't know who traded porzingas. I got nothing to do. With me. I'm trying to play basketball coming here. Every day actually about free agency is my teammates. My coaches roundup the fans about it. Let us play basketball that's all along sand. And now I wanna talk to you is a problem with me. Woman grow up. Yeah. You grow up. Moreover, I come here and go to work every day on 'cause no problems. I played it right away or try to play the right way. Try to be the best player can be every possession. What's the problem? What am I doing here until the grow up part? I think people would have listened to that and said he's mostly being reflective, and he's trying to figure out how to handle this tough situation that he's in with everybody talking about New York and him being a Nick. But then when he says grow up, and he says, yeah, you and he's literally talking to one individual, which is Ethan Strauss. That's a little condescending. And that's anger. And that's obviously frustration coming through in Durant. Just sounds awful, especially when he gets to that point of that comment. But he he wasn't finished here. He is on why he avoided speaking to the media. Why do I gotta talk to you? Tell me is that going to help me do my job better. Talk. I just don't trust time. Anytime. I say something is get twisted up and throwing out in so many different publications. Tried to tell me down my words, I say so when I don't say nothing surprising. I just want to play ball. I want to go to the gym and go home. That's all that a problem. I mean, how are you planning house a team plane? I'm done. Don't care about that. I just asked you. I laugh every time. I hear that the ending of that, you know, you don't care about that. I just asked you and good night storms off defensive angry. And I understand why he's frustrated I truly do when your name is all over the internet and all over Twitter and people are talking about what you intend to do. And how you feel without you telling people specifically what you intend to do. And how you feel it can be frustrating, but the defensiveness and the anger doesn't help. And let's remember that Durant. He's part of the problem as to why this drama exists in the NBA when he decided to go to Golden State. He helped this move along. This is not going to end. It's not going to go away. Reporters are going to continue to do their job. They're going to continue to talk to people ask questions. Ask durant. The tough questions. And his job is primarily basketball. But when you're the face of a franchise. He's one of many and Golden State. He would be the face if he goes to New York. Yeah. It's part of the job. It's part of your responsibility to have to answer some questions in every once in a while at least every once in a while, it's not going to be just about basketball. So that's Katie last night. The other NBA soap opera is of course, Anthony Davis. And where he's going to end up the trading deadline in the NBA is now just under ten hours away, three PM eastern standard time. We'll find out if Davis is still a pelican or not. And when I look at this situation between New Orleans and LA, I believe and this has been my belief from the very beginning this entire Davis to Lakers scenario was first created and then pushed by clutch sports, Rich, Paul and LeBron James. Lebron James is one hundred percent calculated some people try to act as if he is almost naive to some of these things he's not he's calculated. He understands he went back to Cleveland because he knew Cleveland had the pick that they needed to move to Minnesota to bring in Kevin love. He knew going back to Cleveland. He would be part of a super team. Kyrie Irving was already there. He knew how things were set up that they would be able to get love. And he understood that a LeBron Kevin love and Kyrie Irving trio would do some damage in the Eastern Conference. He also understood what was happening when he made his decision when he went to Miami. He's always making calculated decisions. There's nothing wrong with that. He's meticulous. He's methodical. And he's well thought out. So if you think LeBron had no part of this whole story, then I think actually you're the one being naive. He's cal. Rich Paul is calculated. And when you look at the timeline, it all makes sense, right? There was that dinner between Davis and LeBron then you add kyri publicly apologized to LeBron. Then LeBron goes on social media, literally singing, his heart out. It's a Kyrie Irving. Then you have all the Irving. Rumors. Oh, he might want to go to LA. You might want to go to New York. Then you have Davis come out with his list of teams his preferred destinations with really only one team with the assets that can make a deal which oh just happened to be the Los Angeles Lakers. And then the other night you had bench gate that was fun. Lebron has three chairs in between him. What's happening who should he move close to his teammates should one of his teammates move close to him? Where's Rajon Rondo sitting? It's been calculated by LeBron and clutch sports to get Davis to L A. And that's just it's obvious. But this off court game has not been one-sided. Here's Rachel Nichols. And Brian Windhorst discussing an interesting theory on ESPN's, the jump do you think that they were upset enough? I have no knowledge. I'm just throwing out a question that they were upset enough with what they have made clear they felt like was tampering and they felt like they were going into reach in after their player, and 'cause all this disruption in the middle of the season when they thought they had at least to this summertime. Do you think that they never intended to really engage with the Lakers that much? I kept putting out publicly all these trade offers. So that we saw last night it would ruin their team chemistry at least temporarily disrupt all their young guys make things miserable for this team. Is that possible? It's such as possible. It's what happened. I know that the pelicans put us let's go now the pelicans had a method to their madness. And the way this went. I love that theory take that theory injected into my veins, I love that theory from Rachel Nichols. The pelicans were upset about the tampering. So they set their part of this whole thing up saying, yeah, you know, we'll entertain a trait. Sure. Give us a call magic. Magic calls them every single time. He calls them New Orleans. Del damps the GM says nine not enough. But I'll give you this not enough. But I'll give you this not enough. How about this? No, thanks. Okay. Well, I'll I'll I'll also throw in this. I need more magic. I need more. I love that theory. Love it to try to get into the fabric of the Lakers in bother their youth. That's that's a juicy theory. And if it's true in Windhorst knows an awful lot as we know that it means that both of these teams are throwing food at each other. We we have a food fight west coast, east coast or more, you know, southeast throwing food across the country at each other right hotdogs hamburgers getting tossed, but the critical question the most important question. No matter how you feel about the drama who started the drama who continued the drama what if LA doesn't get Anthony Davis. What happens then? What if all this work by clutch, sports, and LeBron fails what if Davis stays in New Orleans what if Davis gets dealt to Boston on July first because Boston decides to trade Jason Tatum? What if
The NBA's Western Conference is really bunched up
"Hey, Johnny Mack. Love to hear you. You gotta. Yeah. Man. I think the problem is Paul home green. I mean, she came in right? And he he had the job before Hextall. So the first three years Hextall had the job we spend cleaning up your home green, scorched earth policy. I mean, there was nothing in the cupboard. There was no. You know, there was no cap space. This is the first year we that any ability to acquire anybody time, he was just shuffling backs into Titanic. So we look at the guy, and you wonder well, the teaming acquired the best players on that team or the best players on this team that we have today. It's the behind the scenes work that homegrown doesn't have the patience for which is why he lost his job is Hextall's, really excelled. Right. Let me let me let me ask you a question. John. How rate the job the Dave hack stalls done as a coach. The problem is he was never put in a position succeed. A college coach, right. Who specialty is developing young players with the college system, that's quick and easy already young players that he's developed that will go speier has developed. Well, thank so. Yes. I don't know if I would say that. Absolutely. A more complete prior today that he was when he first started his reads are better he's playing defensive end. I mean, he's never going to be strong defensive defense. The guys skinny as I am. But you know, he's an undersized player. He's not going to be clear in that kind of guy. But he's. His defense. Reads have improved. You know, he had that injury. You know? So you can see he had two older is game a little bit with his outlet passes isn't stuff, you know? He doesn't carry as much as he did his rookie year, you know. And you know, but I think he'd he's definitely grown. I thought. Well, hacksaw has made big mistakes is one that quickies system is in an NHL system. He has no he preaches almost against, you know, the hawks axiom is go to the net and good things happen and his systems all about point shots. You know, you know. So the hacksaw situation, you know, is just bad. Like, it just isn't that like part of? That's what I'm getting at here. I think that the powers that be home grin and Scott came to the decision that this isn't work. That would Dave accident Brayson table, development wise, scheme wise in the like isn't working, and they basically told Hextall we signed off on his guy. You wanted them. We said you could hire them where now four plus years into this. And it's not got any better. It hasn't developed into any results. We had more than enough patients in this something needs to change here. And we think that the first step has to be the coach, and it Hextall probably said, no, I'm telling you, this is the guy you just gotta have patients, you gotta wait, and it's gonna take time and it's pipelines coming and they said, no, it's not. And he said, well, I'm not firing him. And they said, well, why are you then they wouldn't cop that they're not about to copter that because if they do well, then you got a Dead Man Walking has the coach they have a Dead Man Walking is it is. Is it would be even more blatant? They would have to fire him and just elevate someone from the staff until they could get a new general manager could come in and wired the new coach they would have to fire him as well. If they were going to be honest and say, yes, a big reason why we let go was because we thought to coach it'd be changed. And he said, no, well, then the guy can't possibly go back behind the bench when the powers that be come out and say that so they they had to say what they said. Now, this is pure speculation on my part, let let me go well on record with this. I don't have a flyer source who works in the front office of the flyers knows the inner workings of the flyers. And and I'm telling you, I got this off the record. No, this is just purely me speculating from afar, I think they wanted Hextall the fire the guy that he hired and it acts all said, no, I I can't do that in good conscience. And they said well in very good conscience. We're gonna fire you then. I believe that's the case. And if that is the case, then I'm okay with X dolls firing because you have to be willing to do what your bosses tell you to do. That's just the America. That's the way it works here. Right. Hextall dozen run the flyers. He's a general manager run the flyers either known of flyers. You don't run the flyers? And if they made some really serious suggestions. And he just refused to do. So. Well, then yeah, that's how you get wired because I believe that there is more talented in the system now. And I believe that the flyers are getting better. And I believe they're at least on paper trending in the right direction. Why would you fire that guy? Well, because they want results now, and he's saying patients patients patients patients and their patients had run dry rich from north valleys up by ninety four WIP rich. Hey, thanks back. Hallways listening to you. Thank. But I'm lis-. I think with the seventy Sixers is the problem that they got right now is power forward. Like last year they took off because they got additions of the powerful surge and Syria, I can't pronounce his name. They're well. So that's why they took off. So I think the biggest trade that the Sixers should do is. They still trae folk because I don't want him on a team anymore. But they gotta wait until December fifteenth to Trey Wilson Chandler because he's not big enough at the powerful position. You don't reveal. That's was hurting us when they miss shots 'cause he don't he's not a good rebounder. So they should get. Kyle Korver JR Smith and Kevin love of the city of brotherly love. They should take chances. Kevin love. Kevin love will be a big accuracy. If they get Kevin love max, they go on to the championship. And if they get Reza. Oh, rich. You're you're you and I have discussed straits before. And it's fun when we do 'cause I follow your line of logic purely from a basketball fit standpoint. They do have this thing called the salary cap in the NBA young it, right? But that matches. No. No, it doesn't make a trauma million wasn't channel is not making tw- twelve twelve million a year. He he got like two twelve million. Look it up and a I ten million. So that'd be twenty three million. Love beat it. Then core in the Sixers got money on the books the setbacks, and you just gotta suck it up and take the love. But Yes, What's the chance to make a treadmill? You can't train them to December. Fifteen. I liked getting Kevin love. I'm match big daddy. Okay. No, no. I'm Jody McDonald. Damn glad to meet you by the way, big daddy coming up in forty seven minutes. So feel free to call back. Then rich, I get the trade machine out, Mike, he said Wilson Chandler. Marquel faults? For JR. Kyle Korver and Kevin love. Are you telling me that's gonna work cap? Wise loves number JR Smith is making thirteen million dollars. There's no chance that that works doesn't ESPN average trade machine or somewhere you can plug in. And it tells you just purely from a salary cap standpoint, whether it works or not. Yeah. Morning now, they don't even let you trade Kevin love because he is restriction from when you get a new contract extension. He can't be trade until February like late January. Okay. So and the same thing Wilson Chandler because he signed a free agent contract during the off season. So you gotta wait till a specific period of time before you can trade him. But. Do me a favor look up. Kevin love JR Smith and Kyle Korver. Jared Smith and Kyle Korver for Chandler full. That would work that's twenty two million for twenty one million for Kevin Love's twenty four million in there. That's not work. Right. That's what I said that three players. There's no way. The Sixers have that kind of camp room to take all three of those players back. Well. Well. Smith and Kevin love or the two highest paid players of the five players in the trades. Right. Doesn't work. No. It doesn't work. That's what I tried to tell JR. But he told me that it worked. No, it doesn't work JR. But nitrile if the Cavs are gonna just tear it down. I could see what I do at night that they would have interest in Wilson, Chandler you. Put Wilson Chandler trade. Just try and make the money work, and the money still doesn't work. No, I take Kevin love. I didn't love would fit in well with Butler Embiid Simmons. He's willing to shoot post up threes. He pounds the board on the defensive glass. I think Kevin love would be a great acquisition for the sectors yet. It's not happening salary, cap wise. Eight eight eight seven to nine ninety four
"kevin love" Discussed on Open Floor
"It's just very funny sometimes how our roles change on this podcast because we had a conversation about Kevin love. I probably about six weeks ago and I was the guy who was being the asshole saying, you know, Kevin love is not that great, and this is going to get a little depressing going forward. But now today because of the construction worker photo because I like cast fans and they've had kind of a rough couple of weeks. I'm trying to be glass half full on this, but you're all to correct. Just as I was correct six weeks ago where like, I don't know, this probably isn't going to be that great for Kevin love or the cats. But I really like happened in the last six weeks. Yeah, but a big thing happened last six weeks and that is Kevin love, got a gigantic bag of future money. You know, like I like Kevin love as a trade asset, what he's only that what you're deal, you're renting him as your third guy or your Cleveland. You're trying to like race to the bottom. You trade Kevin love. You get a couple nice pieces back and you have a very clear definition of who you are going to be next season with no pressure. That's not what they did. Instead. They went the other way. They signed him up for all this money. They've taken on the risk of his health. They've taken on the expectations that comes with having a guy on that type of salary number, and they're praying for an eight seed in conference where the seat is worthless. I mean, you might as well just be taking it that point. I don't love that. I don't think that makes me kind of hypocrites based on. I mean. I mean, that's a pretty consistent position. It's easy to love guy when there's a financial flexibility attached compared to what just happened. Yeah, no, it's it's more me today. I just don't have the heart to crush Kevin love or the Cavs or any of this. Let's just pretend that this is gonna work out because again, Kevin love seems like a good guy. He has humor about himself and he's now very, very wealthy. So the sad part is I feel like that was their logic to like I did trade, so they just gave him as much money as possible. It's let's figure it out. Maybe it'll work obviously a wo, but let's just talk into it. That's kind of seems like what Dan Gilbert and their front office was doing on this one. Yeah. Well, moving on here to another team with questionable logic Dylan says, hey guys, please play the clip of Dwight's press conference. On the next podcast, I have a feeling Andrew, just read the quote and then refuse to watch the. "Will that whole experience when people take lessons from that and basically stay away and basically leave Kevin, love stuck in Cleveland. I think that could happen. It's definitely possible, but I also think you're forgetting just how many teams are clearing out cap space for next summer with the intention of signing superstars. Most of whom are going to end up being on the same team somewhere, whether it's LA, whether it's New York, like the market gets fairly thin. Once you get past. Like I mean, Alvar for probably isn't leaving Boston kyri if he leaves Boston, he's probably teaming up with Katie and like there are going to be that many options and they're going to be teams out there who can't afford to just keep kicking the can down the road. Like there are number of team. Brooklyn is one of them where like the moves that they've made look awesome on the NBA internet and everybody just kind of looks up and says, oh man, Brooklyn is stay flexible. Title they've got space for two superstars. But if they don't sign a superstar, like I dunno trading for a guy like Kevin love and making the playoffs isn't the worst thing in the world. Given everything we know about that nets front office, they probably won't go that direction. But like if the Sixers strike out like adding love to catch and shoot threes from Ben Simmons for the next couple of years wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. I think there may be more of a market than you realize, well, first thing on Brooklyn. I'm with you the lakes that people have to stretch to praise them crazy. Do you know they're the only team at summer league out of thirty teams not to win a single game. I mean, aren't they supposed to be trying to sell hope and the future action, the win, a single. They win a single summer league in what are these guys doing? You know, are you play for now? Are you planning for the future? Like all these brilliant salary, cap draft pick moves, and they still the biggest losers in the league. On Kevin love. I'm worried maybe that it winds up being a mellow in New York situation where like very early in the contract, it becomes clear that like he's their best player. They don't have a lot of help around him in what's the point, but they don't wanna trade him because that kind of like admitting mistakes, you try to juggle the pieces around him, but it doesn't work. And then there's two years left on the deal. And finally you trade them for, you know, not a huge return. And then eventually he gets bought out and it just kind of winds up being a waste of time. And that was a really sad way for this to end. I just don't think Kevin love is good enough to command a big time package. I think if you're a true contender, you don't view him at this point going forward as a top three guy. And if you're paying him that much money and he's not a top three guy, then you can't afford to bring him in. Right? So I think he's kind of stuck for a weird purgatory. I mean, congratulations to him. He looked really excited to sign that contract surrounded by all the construction workers in Cleveland kind of weird optics don't really know what they were. Going for? Yeah. The whole thing was weird by the way..

"Reveal that he just had a panic attack on the court and he had some of those same concerns i was telling you about which is i can't talk about this i will appear to be an unreliable teammate like this is we are at at we are at mike i don't even know if this is it is definitely generational i don't know how cultural it is we are at sort of i feel like a tipping point you saw this with kevin durant the idea that he would do something that was millennial that cairo he would do something that was viewed as millennial we're at a tipping point and kevin love is right in the middle where between the young guys in the old guys lebrun is now becoming an old guys on the other side kevin love is right in the middle on how much of this is okay to reveal how much and it seems like younger people are good with it but i've always thought of this environment is being very bad for this stuff that gist i remember talking to withstand van gundy about it he's like man if if somebody had a ankle injury we would not say walk it off if somebody kicks a basketball into the stands six times during practice we we can't just say get in control of your emotions or rub some dirt on it we would get that person help because that person is struggling with something that they're trying to hide there is something going on within the mba though i don't see this being received the same way if it were in nfl player baseball player in nhl player mike i find this fascinating millennials are finding basketball more and more fascinating and i think it's at least in part because millennials are running that sport now like odell beckham is not accepted in football but he's this personality in a place where it doesn't fit like people think he's a clowns show but he's just now man i grew up on the qadesh e ends this is going to be fond let me be at halftime of the game front row and i'm and and james harden is gonna condescend me looking down because i'm behaving ridiculously on snapchat is trying to get hearts but part of the reason kevin love is is being so valuable here is that you know there's a dozen or more other players throughout.
