Miles boom heart with the colorado and joining us miles. You had a fun weekend down umpiring the state softball tournament. Yeah what a great and exciting event down at the aurora sports complex. That's you know. Twenty fields three four and five a distant. The number of i. It amazes me every year. I get to go down there. You get selected privileged to go down there and honored but then number of fans down. There is incredible. It's a it's a really exciting event. Is there added pressure there miles for you when when you're when you're up in a game like that i was listening to our broadcast of the three semifinals between eaten and university and it seemed like the home plate. Umpire was a little tight with zone. A couple of times which can happen. You know you we do. We do longer pre games and We have a lot of games. We have observers at all the games and you know because you wanna give your best effort in every game but especially when you get to the the state you know playoffs Fortunately i've been down there enough and doing enough college that you know. I don't get real nervous. I'm excited because i'm like the players when your untiring or officiating basketball or whatever. It's just like you're playing the game and that's i said before you know this. That's what makes it so fun. I i love it. Yeah no. I definitely understand that. So let's talk about a couple of teams that made their way down there. Obviously all eyes were on fossil ridge the defending state champs but they came up just a little short. Yeah they lost one zip to number two. Columbine fossil ridge is number three and nikki gasoline in her career Incredible career and in fact that team i think in the last four seasons. I think they've been in the semifinals. At least twice. They wanted one last year and Got beaten the semi finals. If you're nikki's going to go to arkansas. She's a tremendous pitcher who You know really was the heart and soul of that team they. They didn't quite have enough often. This year But they had really good pitching and and you know again. It's like a goalie in hockey. If you have a really good fast pitch pitcher you're probably gonna go a long way. "Because i've had some people snap back and say we'll greeley has unc. Well first off. They're not in the basketball. I can understand but football. Yeah they're not even in the same world so if you're a fan of bowl games and winning conference titles s. conference titles than you could be a rams fan and still bears fan. There's plenty of people that i know will wear their bears geared to a bears game but just just gladly take that off and drive over to a sea issue game as well. So that's kind of where. I was looking on that side on the student's section. Kevin what is it. Do you think it's last year being the crazier. It was or are we getting. dare i say this. A new breed of students were there like we love football. We love stay in for the whole game. It's fantastic yeah. I think it's a big covert about Especially if you look at freshman and sophomore 's had never been able to go to college game you know at least students So that's you know happier student population and been able to do so. It's a very novel. Cool exciting thing but then i think there's a possibility that that can breed into your kind the second part of your question. 'cause if you're a bunch of freshman sophomores go to the game. You're all having a blast. You know the teams winning and all that you're gonna say well there's a pretty cool thing. Let's keep doing this. And then that grows and grows and grows so that's you know that's the ideal and that's why it's been tough. I went as a fan and it felt like in that first half like like the fan base was so ready to just cling onto what was looking like a potential blowout win in. When it didn't happen everybody left. Exactly i mean for you know i drive is awesome driver. She issue. I love the play calling everything perfect as fourteen. Nothing later and and that whole first half it felt like dominate but then they had a couple of chances. You have to missed field goals. So ryan andrew king from brisbane was charged in september twenty twenty with two counts of causing grievous bodily harm with intent to maim. He snipped off to men's articles is during an illegal surgery in two thousand. Nineteen and twenty twenty. Was he posing as a doctor was. Were they like held. It was assists psychopathic serial killer type dude or i guess he was just offering a legal surgeries and these two volunteers said shirl had this guy's backyard and get it done oh my god and he filmed the whole thing and uploaded it to the internet. Because why not. I don't even know if. I have the words for this right now. This is insane. Says both the victims victims sought kings operation out of their own. Free will okay but that was the play like they knew they were getting castrated. When they went in or do they think it was another procedure and then he proceeded to do that too that say if they knew what the intent was. It doesn't say that I guess it was an accident or he just got carried away. I guess De he did freeze the remains for evidence so when he was arrested the cops did have some evidence there. This is so bizarre so bizarre. And you think that we've got issues with our healthcare system in the states. This would have made more sense to me if it would have said florida man. That's why the average life expectancy a hundred years ago was so much lower than it is now because people had to perform surgeries like this. Are we reverting back to this is this is just. It's so crazy to me. This is a real thing that got published. All right. he said he's done similar surgeries at least ten times wanting to his testimony. But this is. The story is just weird in his own backyard with not even actual surgical whitman. Just random hardware tools and stuff like that. Imagine if he's able to get these surgeries done. This is a really messed up training. That i'm going down here. But if he's able to do these surgeries with like just that stuff. He probably would have been a really good doctor if you would've actually had the right medical tools and could've gone and done it the right way. It's like dude. You missed your calling. Obviously you should have went. And just ben a doctor but for him to lay it ally. This do multiple surgeries. Did he say why was he. Just is that just he likes operating on people or or what was going on. The his testimony did not give a lot of really good information about why or why he's doing this The victims were. Let's get those five stocks in just a minute first. June retail sales a huge surprise overnight and futures trading markets tied to the economic recovery. Were leading gains. The market was on the upside not by a lot perhaps prompted by the yield on the ten year treasury climbing back above one point three percent but then at six thirty. The june retail sales were released now. Economists were expecting a drop from the month of may of four tenths of one percent instead they got a six tenths of one percent increase from may to june and if you take out cars with tens of thousands of new cars sitting on lots on sold because they don't have the computer chips to install and activate the computers that drag that six tenths of one percent number down. You take out those cars and june retail sales. Were up one point three percent when they were expected to be down. Four tenths and up command. It you got it pent up demand we want our lives back. And so what are the markets doing the reacting as you would guess the dow industrial average up thirty nine to thirty five thousand and twenty six. I saw over at over thirty five thousand by forty four points just a few minutes ago. The s and p five hundred up thirteen at four thousand. Three seventy three in the nasdaq up. Seventy five at fourteen thousand six hundred and eighteen going into trading this friday morning the s&p five hundred was down two tenths of one percent for the week also going into trading this morning and in contrast to the overall market apple up two point three percent for the week net flicks alphabet microsoft. All up well. Over one percent for the week and moderna shares up seven percent in pre-market trading on news that moderna was selected to join the s p. Five hundred and it did that yesterday afternoon.
