It's phenomenons are started boss. Man. What's next? What's next is we got to play some of these best of moments. Mary. What's the first thing we're going to have our listeners? Listen to today. Well, the first thing is Jake Jilin hall. Love him telling the story about how he loved Ellen's Netflix special relatable, tried to get that word to Ellen through a mutual friend, Adam LeVine, and how that didn't go, so, well, here's that story. Jake Jilin hall. That was funny story out with Jake Jilin hall, Adam LeVine. Yes. Ellen. Yes. Basically, Mary, what Dell it. Well, yeah Ellis friends with goal to the story is great friends, with Adam LeVine, adores Jake Joel hall, right? And I don't even know how it came up, but, but adamant, I were texting and I don't I, I don't even said said, have you seen my special yet because he said something that sounded like he didn't, and I and he says, months, after it's been released. Yeah. Every would have seen it by now a good friend, any true, true friend. So an any true fan, listening would've seen my special relatable on Netflix by now streaming our every seeming now. So, so he said, no, I'm so embarrassed. Because Jay Jilin whole told me how much he loved it. And I was so scared. When you're over here, the other night, you were going to bring it up. And you know, it's like if you scared why, you know, and anyway, I didn't know the backstory of this. And so he is I'm gonna watch it tonight. I'm gonna watch it right now. So Jalen hall is on the show the other day, and he told me that he emailed, Adam, because he didn't have my information told Anna, tell me how much he loved my special incident. Minor friends with them. How much it blew me away. So, so Adam said I can't give her this because I haven't seen it yet. So trouble instead of him looking at it that night because this had this was a while ago. He's still hadn't watched it up until recently to, like guilted him into it. And then Jake texted me the copy of the Email, he sent just approve. Yeah. And then what happ- what happened when Adam finally decided to watch it so Adam, he said, I'm gonna watch it tonight. And so I, I went to bed because it was eight thirty and so literally not even dark. So I wake up in the morning and he had started texting like, oh my God. This is so good on my end and all through it, like can't believe how revealing this is and this and it goes on and on and on. And I'm clearly not responding because I'm asleep. And then he ends it with good talk. I, Texas I went to sleep know but he is. So then he finally sought and he liked it. And but yeah Jake Jake sends him that. And instead of him going better watch it 'cause I have to pass this on. He just holds onto that Email doesn't say doesn't send it to me, or tell me about it, and still doesn't watch my special Adam LeVine is not a true friend. But what is fun though is knowing how much Adam LeVine, fears you? Yeah. That is true. That's a fun thing. That's not telling Ellen that he did not. He did not the special. Here's more of Jake and Ellen. How are you? It has been a long time since you've been here. I know. But, you know, I watch you almost all the time you do. I do your show relatable. Oh, the stand up special kiss. Oh, so good. Thank you, very late at night, and I should be going, I should be going to sleep, and I couldn't I watching tire in fact, I wrote you an Email, we have mutual friend. I know that Adam LeVine. And so I wrote him and I said, hey, can I write a note to Alan, and you can send it to her, and he was like, sure, yeah. Of course, I loved her show by wrote you note. I said love your show, and then he wrote me back and he was like I can't send it. I haven't seen her show yet. Did you get it? How long ago did you send that to him? Like two months ago or something? All right. So he he somehow it came up. And I said, have you even seen my stand up special that and he goes? No. And I when you were over the other night, I felt so bad that you were going to bring it up and everything and. J Jilin ho loves it, and I didn't know you wrote, but he was hall was talking about how great it is. I can't believe you having watched my special, you know you're, my friend. He goes, I will I'm going to run right now. And so I went to bed and I woke up to a million text of like, oh my God. This is so great. Oh my God. This is on and on and on. And then the because I'm not responding. I'm sleeping says. Good talk. But anyway, he'd never did pass it on, even though he saw it now. And also your comedian cars coffee. Getting cart cars getting coffee. Somebody coffee cheers show. Yes. So good. Thank so good. You do watch me when you're not around weirdly, I like it. Well, I shouldn't give you should. Give me your Email. Yes, you should give you my number, you text me directly, because I like to text you. We're also busy with the show during the week. It's hard to find time to fit in hot breakfast. But we just heard about the sink called just crack Neg hot, fluffy scramble yet. Ready in less than two minutes. How's that possible? Call. You have to do is at a fresh eg over there, diced ingredients stirred up, microwave and boom. You're hot breakfast dreams, have been answered. I want this immediate. I know there's actually seven different scrambles, there's the Denver, the veggie southwest aisles more than I can even name. So you've gotta try just cracking and take breakfast back. Go get it in the gal Andy. This is up your alley. The automatic pain, cakemaker perfect sound to me. Sounds amazing. It's like two minutes. A lot of times. I don't have time. Teat sounds like a great thing. Our next story is from one of our favorites. David Spade David Spade crashed a wedding. Yes, that should be enough, that's enough for a good story right every vid. Spayed crashes a wedding. I have to say, I love when celebrities are like at a hotel, and they see a wedding right? And instead of hiding they jump in right? And like and get into pictures. It's cooler them. Yeah. Because they know it I thought you were gonna say you love every story David Spade tells I listened to David Spade for things you love. Yeah. I lo- any talks. I love tell stories. I love when he's under his breath with the afterthoughts your. I love everything about David Spade, but I also love when you hear stories about celebrities who are, just like right driving by somewhere, and they saw a wedding and instead of just driving by get out and take pictures. I don't know. I think it's cool so that would be enough, if someone had a story where they went guests who showed up. At our weddings David Spade. That's not enough for David Spade. David Spade needs to plus that up. So David Spade tells us story about crashing a wedding with selene Dion. Every time there's something about him that I just could listen to him for me, too. So my sense of humor funny, he so self deprecating under his breath. He was backstage, an Ellen was doing an interview not for the show for I forget, who it was four. But it was it was a serious interview that she was doing about her life, and some stuff that she and stuff like that. And David Spade was watching it backstage, and turn to his producer, Johnny and said, boy, this bit is bombing. She need me to get in there. He was so funny. Any other new late night, talk show on comedy central Illinois. Again, Ellen put him to test to see what his first question would be a bunch of celebrities in here in the south that went you're gonna sit there. I'm going to show you the first face that comes up, you're going to right away. You're going to have to ask this horrible. The buzzer. It turns to the next person. So anyway, so they'll be a picture of a celebrity and start a conversation. They they sit down, and you'll say something, all right? The head. Okay. Go. Oprah your hair's different. And why are you on my show probably not a good idea for you? May onto its us again. You wanna slow dance? I did with Ellen at a party while ago. She was really good at it. Chiquita banana who's this? Oh, Cardi B. Where's the rest of the alphabet? So this is what you look like in person. Djalo. Why are you taking yourself interviewing you? John worth wire vegetables. What? Why tomato? Home. What cantaloupe? Justin, what do you do about split ends? We have the same hair. These are short interviews, by the way on this is the guy from the bachelor. Can I have your spot in bachelor in paradise? I guess you're not going. Oh, lady Gaga. Getting say. Will smith? Tell me about bad boys three, I'm hearing good stuff about. This your lost man. I think you're in the wrong room, the brunches down the hall the four seasons. You believe I'm seventy four. Serena great. I, I used to play tennis. And I would challenge to a game. I love it the music just stop. I don't why fit perfectly. I don't know why even pick that music for like to interview it's made me ten. Yeah. Of course, is that how it is don't ever play that music while you're interviewing people. It's not off. What her? It's so funny. It's just fun to watch. How his brain works like he's a big bachelor fan is he really huge. He watches everyone. And he comments on his Instagram I'd love to get him in the cube who we've got to do it. We got a book him for the backs the retail with the he's like literally massive fan. That's larry. Oh, how about that? We've got to get him in the game. Look look who's looking more you. He also talked about a car show. He went into his poor mother only it was very, very funny. And historians were so funny. We play we play a lot of it. Sure. Why not all right here? So you went to a car show recently with your mom. How did that come up? She had been car fan. No. But what happens if I go visit near his own ah love and my mom, and then sometimes, I don't, if you've done this, or you've had you go into town for one day. And then I don't have time to see your and then I feel guilty because I'm there, but I just went into this bear Jackson car auction show, 'cause I sort of, like cars and stuff. So then I just called I felt bad. So I go mom, I would hang out what I'm just going to cars, you don't wanna go. Oh, that sounds fun. So I know she doesn't want to go at all. But she went with me, and then I took me trustee cameras, I, filmed her so we'll show a little clip. I don't know if it's funny, but this walking around the car show. Okay. Where's the Barrett Jackson car show? Hey, mom. She's going to be the star today. Jay Leno just bid on this one. Thirty two more miles, so the front, let's go fix it up. Bigshots thanking zoom down to the growth. Beep at the gals but it's too Heidi in short. Mom, can you lay on the ground and on time when you're back to get in? I'm kidding. Oh, this one. Yeah. I lost my. That little. Oh, we did. Information. That was ten hours condense the new man. Yeah, but now do you buy cars when you're there? I, I have bought cars and there and I have a four, total three or crummy ones. Nice. But like Leno, you know, Jay has got that I went out to see his garage and it's probably it's three hundred. Yeah. He's got like an airplane hangar Fulla car getting another hangar full of more cars, and well. And, you know, when you used to go to the tonight show, we take a different one every day. Right. You see him on the four oh five and nineteen twenty six unicycle. Work. The regular ones now but so far so good. Let's talk. I saw on on Kimmel you crash that wedding with selene Dion that with those people must be limping out what you did. Yeah. We did the quick story was we I was in Las Vegas during the Mirage and Kimmo. Because, hey, we're doing this bit, you wanna run over, because we're going to surprise people their wedding, so they basically he was performing in a hotel in this theater. But the chapel was like backed up to two run over and they don't know anything. So I said, we're gonna ruin someone's real wedding and because I don't know who knows if they're fans are not. So it was two people that were in the army, they were getting married and Kimmo went in there and busted in and then said, can we can, I officiate, and he said, yes? And then, of course, Dumbo comes in a long, drink destroy anyone objectives wedding. I go a oh, you know, then I. I do my crummy jokes. And then they said, hey for the first dance do you have a singer, and they go? No. He goes, oh, we got some local talent, and then Celine Dion came in and with all the smoke behind her. Yeah, it was really fun. And so it went pretty well for those crazy bits but before we did it, you know, it's a secret, so we're all hiding behind this crammed in this little tent, and I go into it and selene in the corner. But I don't know where. So I said, oh, there's all these secret service when people there, you know, she's really rich. So they're around her. And then I go can I say hi to her real quick? Producing the guys. What's that? I want added. Then he goes eagle. All the way. Then it comes all the way back to meet us. Yeah. Okay. Come on. I go in and I go, and of course I get nervous. So, of course, I grabbed I go silly, and it's us again comic. Do we're going to kill it today. And she goes, okay? She's French Canadian than she goes, the side kisses, and then I go, hey, the pipes rusty ready to nail it. I want your game. And she goes, I'll sing good. Yeah. All right. I go. Everything's riding on this for me. I need you to knock it out of the park. This is it for me. I got all ships. And she goes. She didn't know what was going. Then the guy's like, maybe we need to get maybe. They need your front. Okay. So anyway, it all worked out and I think it was really fun for the couple. Yeah, it was great. It was fantastic. And they were they seemed very calm, but, you know, inside when they went to a commercial, then they went more bananas, but have a cellini on your. What is he was so good? Yeah. Just sing. Awesome. Okay. There's some of the some of the information in in that clip. I didn't need to know. Exactly. All right. So David, if you're highly enjoyable that is based. Mom lost your virginity on the hood of a car. Shocking part of it. Who was? I found it shocking when they said it. I have been a huge fan of lily Tomlin's for a very long back when I was in high school. She had a Broadway show. And I went to the Broadway show, my brother Chris Conley, and I used to listen to the album of her comedy of the Broadway show and quoted to each other, and we know each other, and I was at that same show. No. You never been to show in your life. You never you. Here's a fun. Gladiator. It's not just I'm not interested, Ed lavon disdainful glavin is never attended a Broadway show. Not true. Five years old. Yeah. He saw Springsteen. Yeah. Y'all just mad because they gave away my tickets to Hamilton. I just don't even understand. You know you try to tell it, we've advised at very well over the years. We've, we've opened ED's life in mind to certain things that had been closed, and we're going to be closed forever. We've opened his mind to certain things, and he's been very appreciative, and grateful, or that exposure, all those things are true. And yet when you look for a learning curve, not they're always. There you go ahead. You love us you trust this checkout Hamilton. Yeah. No, my kid. Got tickets, the Hamilton. And I got to and we were in New York City, and my daughter lives in New York City, and she was dying to see Hamilton. Right. So I gave my ticket to my daughter, right. Because I thought she would find it more meaningful totally understand. And so she went with my wife great, and I felt great doing that for her. I that I totally understand. And, and while they were at Hamilton, I then had three solid hours, a quiet. See now you talk too much. So but anyway, we were on. She talks about a strange addiction. She has. Let's talk about lily Tomlin. All right. I've been a fan of Louis Tomlin's for a very, very long time. I, I can't believe we waited as long as we waited to have on our show, she, she is unbelievable. Jane Fonda like three months ago months ago. She was phenomenal. Shears just like money just tighening is. Yeah. As exquisite as it ever was. Right. So then we have her back now this week alone. Yep. Promoting a laugh in thing that she did. And I mean, she's just you just want more. Yeah. Just watching her brainwork is just well our family in my house. We're very big grace and Franky fans of her of her net flicks, her Netflix show. She just doesn't disappoint. We, we had to act with her. The first act was an interview where she talked about her addiction to rubber which was hall area. So let's, let's play that I hear you go. All right. So let's talk about laugh in. So it was fifty years ago that you did laugh in and that was a huge show at the time. And that was your big break, right? Yeah. It was like did you addition for that? Or did they see you somewhere? Well, I think they saw me on Merv Griffin. I did an old rubber free monologue about eighty rubber objects. People do do that, and predate, there's women on, on YouTube, who eats rubber sheets of foam out of foam couches and chairs. And she prefers the yellow foam. But I've green days her by good. Forty fifty think he got the idea from watching you. I don't think she was born then okay, but because people, there's a television show, but people who eat weird things I know of heard I was, I was fascinated because it's a condition called pica and back then there wasn't that much literature about it. Right. And so I and I was very I was very drawn to microbiology oil solvent solution called Silat germ. No, that's not it. I forget what it's called it affects your brain. But wait, what do you mean you were drawn to it? And I was in, when I have microbiology class, I would we get a little tiny lab bottle like that with real thick glass, and you just have a drop or you drop drop on the slide? And then you look at a slide in oil immersion. And I used to just go and fill my bottle up, I fill up my nearby. Mates bottle and sprinkl, it all over my books, and I would just sit there and hailing during the election. Because. Because it was just it was. It was you four well. Now we know why you don't understand or remember Andy. Warhol. Graduated from there to rubber tubing. Yes, they should be a place near my house. Right. Have to stand in the doorway and wait for the bus, and they made they must have made rubber tubing the windows were opaque. I couldn't see what I could smell the rubber tubing. And I wanted desperately to eat it. And that's what is okay. We're gonna take a break. Call the nurse on the lot and say what? Kim, I'm guessing you're a fan of nine to five Mary. I've never seen nine to five. Is that right? It's like in my top five movies. I have to watch. I've seen nine to five I know I've missed it somehow you're friends with Matt, right? And even overseen nine to five or risky business. And he loses his mind about both. How has he not tied? You would share and made you watch it. I don't always tied him to a chair. Yeah. We just get distracted. I know. It's crazy. That's amazing. Yeah. So then we played a version of a game, we do call boomer versus millennial. We called it willy lily, or something like that. But basically you as. It. You ask a baby boomer questions that a millennial would know the answers to and you ask a millennial the questions that baby boomer would know the answer to and you see how they do against each other. And I gotta say lily is up to up to speed. Yeah. She is up to date. Yep. She's up to date af. Yes. And, and it was really fun. And here's a listen to that. We're back, lily Tomlin who's been making us laugh or fifty years. We play a game on this show where we challenge to people of different generations to answer questions. We thought it'd be the perfect person to play with his usually called baby boomer versus millennial. But today, we're calling it willy lily. No it where do you live in? What do you do? I live in Santa Clarita, Iowa leading photographer talking. That's wonderful, people crying lot and stuff. I cry sometimes so a bit. A bit. This photos are blurry. Okay. All right. So we will go with lily. I what would you be doing if you were getting lit, a f? I think they know. Yes. That's my say the word. Yeah. Lit af. What does that mean? Lettuce. Turned on excited something or other. Yeah. Well drunk, but yeah, well drunk. And you're just say that right out. Let can no. You don't say, well, lit, af is what the term is. I understand that. I know. So we asked what it means. It's, it's, it's drunk. Okay. Yeah. All right. But we've both said it now. All right. What is an eight track? Track of eight songs. I don't know. Cd. A game. Well, it's kinda you were kinda right? It's a it's a track of eight it's a, it's a tape that you could listen to music on an eight track. There we go. Yeah. There we go. Kind of, yes, the both of you are. All right. Who is Billy Bush, a singer? Yes. He's awesome Philly Irish. All right. Who is Billie holiday? He's a singers. Yes. And she is. What music festival is being held this weekend Woodstock. God. Well, I happen to I happen to spend a lot of time in Palm Springs. I know it's Chela that is right. Kotel. What historic music festival was held in upstate New York in nineteen sixty nine. Woodstock. Real said Billy in the him well, in Louis also, like we shouldn't forget, that lily Tomlin was in Washington DC, when Ellen got the Mark Twain cries. She was there. And she was part of that show. And part of that ceremony. We have we do have issue with her, and we do. So this next moment is, is really, it's at once a show highlight and podcast highlight. And it's it is, it's only did we did the podcast one, one or two times this year in the sky box, and we and we rolled on it so that we could have a little video of it. And we had a very special guest co executive producer, Matt. Right. That's correct. And it was the podcast was particularly funny for a number of reasons. Not the least of them being that Andy and Matt and Kevin were sharing a very small couch was more like it was more like a love seat. And he was on the end. And Andy was a solid foot lower on that couch than Iraq. This is with special guest, Matt right talking about a Taylor swift appearance on our show. Why are we bearing the lead time? Or do we still need to settle literally our lead guest today? We do have guests. Well, my God, it's not Ellen it's not Porsche. It's not even a celebrity, but it is the person on our show arguably aside from Ellen who interacts with the most celebrities on our show. He he, he produces the biggest stars heads of state, right? Foreign territory about him on the show. We have what we say is anytime a big name gets booked. Yep. We go to mount right to produce it because he's got now after thirty one years here at the show. He's got a relationship with the publicist with the guests. He's also very creative. He's gonna say he's, he's a reluctant guest. Yes, he wasn't really. He. Do he's already stressing. 'cause he's stressed for Tom Hanks, whatever he's got other things to do that. He didn't know it was going to be on camera. Ted. Right. And so he didn't wear his prettiest. Blouse. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome mat. Right. You are now. What is your title? So anyway, Matt, right? Started with us as a producer. He worked his way up to. No take us through the thing. Producer senior producer, VO. Anything with us how long thirteen years thirteen years, he has been producing who are who are the big give give three of the biggest names, you've produced President Obama. President obama. Tom Hanks, maybe. Yeah, we'll Smith. A low talker. Shine. He literally never stops talking. Here's the thing about Matt. He will come into one of us or all of us in Doha. I have this idea for whatever celebrity, I'm and I want your honest opinion. You give them your honest opinion. Maybe it's not the best idea. Sure. And then he spends about five minutes convincing you and you just get exhausted. Right. You said that you just say, okay, bright red. So we all kinda worked for. I believe I was the last one to fall. Listen to the quietest I've ever so literally badgering. Call in for a meeting because you have things you need to talk to Matt about. And then Matt will then say, well while I have you all here and then you take over the meeting for the things that you need to talk about. It gets a lot of segments. But many has a lot of. Know we do now that we've been on sixteen years, you're aware that we do a lot of packages, showing best moments over the years and just chunk to those belong to Matt and things that came from his little. He's got a little brain, but he thinks a lot of things. And most of them are ideas that he, he hounded us into doing and it always pays off. He's a smart guy. Hey, can you tell the story? Oh, can you tell the story you, you don't want to say, nothing makes me happier mass? When I first met math was like years ago when we hired him. But when we interviewed him when we interviewed do you, do you remember when I love, remember and he was working at a show called soap talk. Big star and we were looking for segment producer. And we're like, you know, who have you, you know, tell us about some of your segments, and he named some of soap opera people now we're like you know what he seemed smart? Let's give them a shot, and we put you on a one day contract. We tried you out and immediately. He had idea brought my luggage to the interview because I was on my way to New York. Yes, you somewhere. Stop but you were playing very straight in that came in. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I know he had a suit. He had a suit. He was all full hair. I'm New York. You were either either a full head of hair or very realistic to very. And he and you would not haven't seen him with you. Remember? This is not. Not an ongoing better. You would not have guessed in that meeting. That was really cut to we. We've all become good friends. I one day I said Matt. When did you come out to your family, and how old are you? Twenty one twenty one is how did it go? What happened when you told your mother? My, my said, you know, I was gay. And my mother said, is it because I was heavy. Your mother thought that you were game because she was that, that might be. My dad said I don't understand. You're always so good with girls. I don't care. Wow, you're staying. You're always so good. Good. You can talk to them, because I'm heavy. Oh my God. I love it. Okay. Do you have a favorite segment that you've produced? Yeah. Here's what we're going to say about mad as we have favorite segments that Matt has produced and Matt. When you say, oh my God, I love that segment. Matt immediately goes to what, what could have been in the that didn't have to think about the one thing that Matt's favorite thing to do after segment is over is to dwell on the things that could have gone better, which is fun, right? It's funny, compliment you go up to him and you go, oh my God. But here's the thing, my favorite thing is, as an, it's so rare after thirteen years. But if a segment isn't going, great, you can see Matt sweating and turning. Even thirteen years in. He feels like there's a little part of him that believes I'm serious. When I say to him on the floor, this is probably your less. Even thirteen years in, and there's like this seriousness, and he goes, oh, fucking. Fire myself. Who have you enjoyed producing? We know you love Kim Douglas. No, you have your friends who have who have you enjoyed producing. I mean for me, I will say the cost thing was President Obama just yet. Have you sitting president, he was still president of time that was pretty pretty amazing? Just getting to meet him when he arrived, and he was he was nice. And just I went went over everything with him. And he's like you think where it gets all that. Well, maybe we did not. But he was very and I just announced. With a lot of these, it's not just the day of Matt gets on the phone with them and talks about the things that he thinks will be interested in. And so then when we do the show Ellen has been prepared by Matt with sort of a robe, roadmap of what they want to talk about, and occasionally Madel say and this is an area. We're not going to a marriage. Teach people the Matt is. No. If it's President Obama or Tiffany, amber. Thiessen cares. Here's the most about every question, regardless of who all of our guests are treated, which is why Hello. Which is pretty big right now, during this podcast isn't fully with us because he's actually thinking what do you think about is segments for next week? What do you have next week? The lab and casts and Tom Hanks when you say the allied, and cast is there anyone in the Aladdin casts, we might know it'd be on the show Smith. Oh, yeah. It's on the phone with you. Yeah. And we'll do as we speak right now eastern the wills myth. Which is like what do you do that? This. Let me ask this question to you triggered must because you're also a consumer of pop culture, new enjoys true has there ever been someone where you go. Oh, wow. I'm about to go in and prepping for the show. And I'm nervous many many too. I get nervous a lot. You do. Get nervous a lot. Well, he nervous, but no matter how nervous Matt gets. He met gets, what might once like does not, and he's pretty pussy with them. And we've, we've gotten a lot of say, say. Yeah. We have to smooth things over with publicist because you're so. So I would say that he's just sort of. Yeah he's he's relentless. But in like a way that you don't realize he's being relentless until it's too late. You've given up by the time you realize, oh, he's just pushed me into he's passionate. And it's hard to. Millions of people. The most popular web podcast. Interested in, you have interviewed all the biggest all the biggest stars on our show. So tell us about what it was like to interview Taylor swift. John. About what it was like for Johnny. She was great. Tell she has done. She hadn't done an interview on how long three years to three years, and she chose to come and sit down and do one with Ellen. And it was as if not a day had gone by she's been on this show. What now when you say she chose. I mean we. But she she she. My question is, is she hadn't done? Us in a while, but she had been a regular here. We had our at the beginning of a career her Annell, and it was like one of the most enter -taining interviews this year. Absolutely. And there's so many good parts about Ellen and her talked about shaving legs and washing legs may talked about what else. I know it wasn't your second. They talked about. They talked about cats cats. Of course, they talked about the cats. They talk about Easter eggs and Easter egg. I didn't know what he starts. About. Little hints. Yeah, I know that she drops. And they talked about Jonas, Kevin how. Taking she listen, take a listen to Taylor swift talking with Ellen about Joe Jonas. What is the most rebellious rebellious thing? You did as a teenager. Probably. When I put Joe Jonas on blast on your show. That was too much. Yeah. That was too much. Okay. I was eighteen. Yeah. We about it now, that was out, the yeah. Yeah, just all right. And teenage stuff there, that's held onto you because I don't remember that at all. What is your favorite curse word? Okay. You say you're and we'll say together on one two three one two three. One because it can also mean like, really good like. Who'd you share your first kiss with I it was my high school boyfriend when I was fifteen. This is true. True. Did you leave Easter egg during our interview? Yes. Really? Yes. It's on every word. No. Okay. Your friend invites you to dinner. What do you bring white wine? What kind? Son, Serra Pena Griego, or saw VM block. Choice. Thank you. Just a really good one. I'll tell you about what's your favorite holiday. I think it's Christmas. Definitely. What's your favorite place to go on holiday like cold? You like snowing, you like island. I'm sorting. Sorry, quiet, sorting. I think Rhode Island. The great state. Yeah. Yeah, what's your favorite movie? Tough one narrowed down to why can't no. But you have to go favorite movie. I've seen in the last week. Okay. Someone. Great on Netflix. I don't know that it's a great movie. Well, the backlit okay, named three words to describe yourself. Curious cat lover. Make it one word chirp romantic. Yes. I would say creative also, thank you. Okay. Smart and do your five. Yes. We because you deserve more. Okay. That's o- outta time to. We know what. Exactly. She did say the first time. Yes, I could watch the did she. She took a shot at him because Ellen was asking or any of the songs on the album about anybody, she named a specific song. And she goes, well, you know, I mean, I've been in the name of the song was like forever. And always Ellen said, in the old interview Ellen said is well, she said, have you have you written any about anybody would know? And she said, yes, and Ellen said how about this guy, and it was Joe Jonas. And then she said, and then she said, yes, and which song and Taylor showed her, and it was a song called forever, and always an inside is that a sarcastic title? And she said, absolutely. And then she also said, I'm not dating him now. And then, and then proceeded to say, I have no, I'm not in communication with him. I have no relationship with me over. The phone in twenty five seconds. But I mean she was a kid. Yeah. And he was a kid. You just get the sense. Now like we've had as you say, we've had Taylor on the show a lot, the first time she was on our show. I think she was like eighteen and since the first time we've had her, she's become like a massive international icon like it's, it's just feels different now when I mean, we have an associate producer on our staff, his name's Alex Clark. An Alex is somewhere between a Taylor swift. Stan. And just a straight up offer. Me so crazy about or that you can't really so when we knew that we were booking Taylor swift. We heard the Taylor swift had locked Johnny Norman who books all of the musicians on our show all the artists on our show and produces them as well told us that before he published he wanted to tell Clark that he was going to have someone tell Alex Clark that we were sending him to Houston to do a shoot for us on Tuesday. And then after God than getting now we didn't know any, and then after Alex Clarke agreed to go on that you, we're going to publish Taylor swift for Tuesday. Right. So the human interest department asks out published means send Email out to the staff, right. So they do this, and he agrees we publish, and now I know all this has happened. So I call Alex clock into my office, and he walks in, and I go, so I just want to make sure you're cool. You're cool going to Texas on Tuesday for us, right? And he's white to now, Alex. I wanna say this about he's eager like he wants to please wants to really hard work really like really wants to do the best you really wants to impress. And, and I asked him that question any goes. Yeah. I mean whatever. And I go, what do you mean? Whatever them not wanna go on the shoot. You're not wanna I wanna do. I wanna do whatever's best. What do you mean whatever's best like we wanted to go to Houston? So then he finally, there's no, no. I'm going to do it. I'm going to go and I go great. I just thought thought there might be some conflict or something like no, no, he leaves white. He shaky, apparently, he went from there to his office to cry. You're kidding. I didn't know any of this. So, then now I don't ever get caught up in these pranks, but it was so fun. I couldn't seem you felt bad, you call them back, pretty ideally, I did I called him. Well, car came in and said he's these office crying. I said, call him back. And then and then he went from crying like shaking, and just sorta hyperventilating. And then we're open Friday. More funny morning. And then he got to meet her. He didn't get when she was here. Before we sign off. There was a finalist in the B kinds of scripture box contest out Mary's big-box contest. Sure that I would like to acknowledge, okay. And I would like to arrange for her to also get a year to this hearing. You're hearing. You're hearing, that is unbelievable. Missy Elliot, Lebron James, Channing Tatum, Colin Jost, Michael Che and 7-Year-Old-Periodic Table Expert Finn Hathaway.
"Hi, it's Ellen Degeneres. Welcome to my podcast. We're gonna listen to some of the best moments from the show, and it's going to be hosted by four executive producers that I love. Happy listening, welcome to Ellen on the go. I like your announcer voice. I know it's only when the first normal. A normal. Andy welcome to Ellen on the game, but just just just say, at the way you say into Ellen on the go podcasts at seriously, everybody is talking about at least everybody sitting in this room has been talking about you sound like Trump a little many great people, many great people, lots of tremendously big or saying that this is tremendously the best podcast out there this week. We're gonna be talking about when LeBron James and Channing Tatum were on the show was so fun. Also, Missy Elliott got to meet her viral protegee Mary alsi, which was one of the real highlights of this week. I'm Mary Connolly. I'm Ed glavin. I'm Andy last ner. I'm Kevin Leman. We have the best stuff to share with today's. Let's either my favorite clips. Yes, without we had so far, I mean the best. So there's a woman named Mary Halsey and she's singing karaoke for a really long time and one of her favourite go. Oh, to karaoke tracks is working by Missy Elliott. Time -clusive here. Peaceful. Thing now flip EMMY burst as your. He sure. And the video sort of blows up over the summer. We're not taping shows yet the minute we get back, we call Mary. And then of course we start making calls to Missy Elliott. Now Mary's Mary's happy to do our show love to your show. She thinks that she's going to appear on the Ellen show at some point and doesn't frankly understand why it's taking so long to get to come to the Ellen show because she does not know that at the same time we are working furiously to try to get Missy Elliott here. Now, let me tell you something about Missy Elliott. First of all, she's a rap icon, right? Second of all does not come out much. Don't see Missy Elliott on a lot of stuff ever any white lives in Virginia someone's right. She's a bit reclusive and she's a genius. We Johnny Norman, Ellen, get MRI to come and surprise this woman. Now, Missy had tweeted about this woman which was how we found out about me, right? So Mary Halsey is here and she is Ellen talks to her and she is hilarious. She is what you see when you have this woman on the show, is this unfiltered just regular person from road. Thailand. Yep. Getting to meet someone. She loves in Ellen and be on the Ellen show, and she just that was enough for Mary Halsey. So he asked her to perform her karaoke version of Missy Elliott and about a minute into her performance. Missy Elliott sneaks into the shot and surprises her and things with us Mary. Hi, Ellen. Okay. First of all, who's the person behind you walking around with ice cream? Like that's not a big performance of yours. MS Lynne, Lynn, and I just met her that day. Okay. So she she doesn't seem like she was impressed that she should have been? Oh, no, they were all having a blast say good. All right. So is that something that I, it was like a picnic or something. It's like something you do on a regular basis? Well, it's a once a year at Goddard park. They have a karaoke Sunday Maha. And so this is the thirteenth time they've had it. It's the second time I've been there. Okay. And did you do work at last year as well? I did do work. I don't know if there was any videos that didn't make it to, you know? Well, it made it to me because I think it it got it went viral because Missy Elliott sought and then she put it out there and that's how everybody got it. That is how it all. Yeah. I mean that must've been amazing that Missy Elliott Sawyer. I, I have to sit back. I can't even tell you it was a shock. I never expected this ice. Put it out there and said, I want to go viral, but I never thought it would happen. It's. You got your the funky. White sister? Yeah. Now. Did you decide that day you were the funky white sister actually, Yellen. And I've been saying that for I've been seeing that song for fifteen years and I started to there's time in between where the music begins, the beat start before she starts to sing. So instead of it just being an empty time, I decided to fill it in. And of course, I am her funky whites, MRIs, funky white sister right in. All right. So you've been doing karaoke along time? Obviously, s I have. And so what made you first of all? I can't believe you, you know more words of that song than I do, but what made you pick that song? Well, it was a contest in two thousand and three, and the song had come out in two thousand and two and was really popular. Yeah. And I said, I could do that tongue. Maybe I could try. I learned I read the words and I, I studied it and the reaction that I got was so positive that it became my go-to song. Yeah, everybody wants to get you understand what the lyrics mean in there. Well, I do, but I wasn't thinking about him when I was singing them. Right, right. No. All right. Well, we can't have you here without you performing force. Will you do it. Vira buddy. I'm Ellen show Burstein exclusive MRs spunky white sister. Is it were work pain. Every Bursik as your win is sure win yet if you gotta make the search find out how hard it gotta work. Is your win yet? Is your premises win? Yep. I like to get to know ES AGA show you what a hurt, Nanya like Tokyo number two, iphone. Ya. Let's stick dead called me over on the bed. Lamey on his so far. So you do you don't know you won't bow downtown innate it like a bulk to see my hip. Some addict stole truck things asked him still. What is this. Try to time you sex, blah, blah, blah, work hit. I needed to watch. Boy boy is good to know. Ya isn't word. The work is. Is. Get a pedicure. Itunes, let's get drug as close. Don't of. A Halle Berry post. Tricks on young. Sure is my favorite guest we've maybe ever had she, yes, we talked to marry. She sang with Missy. We've been through the commercial break. We came back for another act and Missy and Mary Halsey sat on the couch together to be interviewed by Ellen, and it was the first time. Missy had been here in ten years, probably ten years, and there was a moment where I thought well shouldn't just be Ellen in Missy and all my God. Mary made that act I. And so because this happened during the summer and we weren't on the area and I know that you waited for us to call you because I did Ellen. Yeah, I I know I waited by, no, I know everybody wanted you and we appreciate it and we wanted to reward well. I have no idea you blown me away. I am. Yeah. Yeah, I can hardly just sit here. We got. All right. So. Using your high-profile, she could them. Hi girl. You just ask. So you see a lot of people singing your songs, I'm sure. But what what was it about Mary that I mean, I think I know, but what was it about everything? Yeah, everything. I mean when she first MRIs funky white system, like who is. So when I listen, I'm like, see, no all words, but the sound of fix. Yes, other Nori at all of that. And then it was, I don't know if you even know the lady that was walking in the back. I just met her that day all and I thought she was eating a Cup of noodles, and I thought it was good. Most amazing thing. I was like, know all the words. Yeah, and I forget my own words like amazing. I, I don't know that many words and I love that song. I know most of them, but but help you. You do. All right. So when you sing the lyrics backwards, which we all do, it's your admit yet. It's like that was an accident, right? Yes. It was accident in the studio. The tape, the real ended up going backwards. And so my lyrics heard my rap going back and I said, keep it in. I'll make words around debt part flipping reverse. I'm only just saying, I mean, there's only just revert. Right, and isn't your Britain written yet yet? What is there. What you thing down flip it and reverse it backwards said what it is. So. Yes. Mary? Yes, man. All right. Missy, we'll come back. It's been ten years, and I said, come back more often. You're not here often enough, and you told me that I could be your co host. Yeah, I'm gonna move to LA and I'm gonna come here every day. Correct? Yes. You're going to be my co-host and you can. You can sit with me. You can sit with twitch anywhere you want. Okay. All right. Your head. I don't want to be outside Ellen. You're you're, you're need to oversee. No. Express to you how often you can be here, but you can be here everyday. I'm not convinced it's not Melissa McCarthy doing character still some extensive makeup. She's so frigging funny she's down and goes all the Ellen show just is natural and his comfortable and thrilled for every single part of it. And Missy seems to be a co host, which I absolutely with that. That would be fantastic. Picking out presence is hard, and this is Kevin from Ellen on the go. So on the same day, promoting the movie small foot, we had LeBron James and Channing Tatum on the show. The only tell you what LeBron James doesn't have small feet, no, or he's a big boy and Channing Tatum, handsome as can be and what am on there. I'm just like, look at us three guys and, oh. What do you mean? No, you not part of them. Oh, but you're part of us? Okay. Yeah, so Channing and LeBron did the animated film together there each voices in the animated film, and they hadn't really met each other until like a photo shoot. So they didn't really know each other that well, but they did the show together and they head tremendous chemistry like they had been friends for a good long time. So you get a movie together and I know animated movies you're not ever in the booth at the same time. So had you even met before the movie? No, that promise me that I was going to get to meet him and I never got that was moving. Moving to say. You know the movies done, they like, yeah, you just see him when you see him and I'm, this is the first I'm saying. So. And did you had you seen magic Mike? Had you seen the movie? No. No? No, I haven't seen. Maybe you should go see because I went to see the Vegas show, and I'm not the kind of person either you you and I both. That's. Doesn't look like either of us would go see it, but I'm telling you would enjoy it. It's really, really good. Yeah, enjoy it. You should go. See. And now he's opening in London, which you know maybe go see it in London minimum stage. Yes. You're a good dancer. Okay. No, you're good. This guy. Well, I don't know. Not too many people are like this guy, this guy which are in a league. So seriously, I have to say everybody here in Los Angeles is very excited about you being part of the Lakers. So. I haven't been to a game yet, and you may get me to a game to get you to again to come lesson? Yeah, door policy that writing. That I could come get the tickets apparently absolute. We're both gonna go you and together. All right. So you you get asked to sign a lot of body parts. I assume you get asked to sign of grease armpit one time and armpit. That's it was weird. I didn't. I wasn't comfortable with. It wasn't. It wasn't a five year old now. So I'm always like, oh, let's not do this. Now feel like back in the day, I would have been like, you have signed this and then now she's all different like everything's changed, but they're not five year old girls asking you to sign. Another cool thing that happened this week is Ellen got to do an actual weekday update with Colin Jost and Michael Chang from Saturday Night Live and they agreed to it. They send us like a pile of jokes themselves. Writers got together in pitch, Elena pilot jokes is really funny. It's really fun to see her do and it sounded real. Yeah, and look like the real weekend update. Yeah, it sure did. So as you know, we shoot the show here in Los Angeles so many great things about being in Los Angeles, the weather, the beach, and you're never more than ten minute drive from a car dash in any there. There's always one near you, but there are some things that I can't do because I live here like I can't be on Saturday Night Live again because it's in New York and and they also tape six hours past my bedtime. But I'm a huge celebrity so I can do whatever I want. And so I thought I would bring my favorite part of Starlight live here. So the first time ever. It's weekday update with Colin, Michael and me. We do update with Colin Jost, Michael j. and Ellen Degeneres. I run we going right into this. Yeah, this is how it works professional. Okay. All right. Good afternoon, everyone. I'm colleges and I'm Michael Chang, and I'm in the center, this hot land sandwich. I'm Ellen Degeneres the seventy th primetime Emmys are September seventeenth hosted by Colin Jost and Michael j. and they've made some changes this year. It's on Monday instead of Sunday. Also this year, if your acceptance speech goes too long, Cardi b. will throw her shoe and you. Several mothers complained when a kindergarten back to school event featured pole dancer. Thank you. Pinterest, anyone, any Pinterest fans here? Sorry, I should've asked. Is there any white women here tonight? Interest has a new feature that makes it more accessible to blind people. Even though one of the only perks of being blind is that you never have to look at anyone's Pinterest. Divorced woman in England wore her wedding dress for a ten k. mud run where she once again, lost out to a younger woman. That he's. They did. So don't sit there and tell me that white people don't have a tough too. Yesterday was national bike to work day though. Everyday is bike to work day. If you have enough, do you is. I'm being told that we're out of time. We have to go to break. One of my favorite things about our show I have to say is, is the young kids little kid fee NAM's that we find and our human interest producers find, and these kids are geniuses in or experts or excel in certain areas, and they're young. Every time we have one of these kids on, I go home and just look at my kids and go get off the fortnight and do something, please it, isn't it true that sort of when you're alone with your kids over the weekend, you go, these kids they got going on. They're they're pretty good at stuff. They're they're holding their own, and then you come to work and you realize your kids are really not doing anything at all. What's so fun for us about having these five, six and seven year old kids who are so brilliant, this kid Finn, he has this insane knowledge of the periodic table like it's not just that he's memorized periodic table. You give them, you give them an element number. He gives you the element and what the element does, and some of the things that's used in and. I just don't underst- like I just I can't. I I have an average level of intelligence at best. So when I see stuff like that blows my mind fan. Okay. So you're seven years old. And I like you glasses. First of all, thank you. They're really great. Did you lose some teeth? I see there's teeth missing how many teeth? Six. These two have already grown in. Okay, that's good. And then to have not grown in yet? Yes. Yeah. And then have you, did you put the teeth under the pillow for the tooth? Fairy new? No. Why? Not? Because I just haven't done it quite yet. Okay. How did you get interested in the periodic table? Well, like to mess for a while, and I heard that chemistry had a lot of mathematics, so I just tried to get interested in chemistry. You got interested in chemistry. How old were you? Six. Sure. Okay. I don't think I ever even got into chemistry and so all right, I'm gonna. I'm gonna quiz you on some things because this is really impressive. Let's talk about what's the name of this element connection and what's the atomic number one hundred eighteen? Okay. And what do you know about this? It's it's the heaviest element yet made. Okay. All right. What does this one? European. Okay. What's the atomic number sixty? Three. What do you know about it? It closed under travaillent lights. And it's named after the continent of Europe yet. That's that seems right. What's the name of this silicone? What's the atomic number fourteen and what do you know about it? It's it's one of the most abundant elements in the earth's crust about twenty seven percent. Well, I didn't know that. All right. What about this one? Titanium? What do you know about it? I know that titanium titanium is used in is just wrong steel but much lighter. And then let me see what is. What's this one technician? Okay. And what what do you know about it? That is the lightest radioactive element. Okay. What is radioactive mean? Radioactive means that that it's Adam darn stable parts of the nucleus control in with an also barnacles beta particles or gamma rays. The crime. The crime. Checking that you know that all right now. So I'm going to quiz you on because you you were telling me things. But now I wanna know if you know just by the atomic number, what seventy? Seven iridium that's right. What is thirty? Seven Rubicam thirty eight strontium five four on thirty two germanium thirty one gallium thirty six thirty. Six is correct on seventy two seventy two half him. Wow, that is unbelievable. Mazing. You this. I asked somebody what this is. Is this your elements? What do you have in there? So my three done in going to show is. This one's. Piece of bismuth. So bismuth is eighty dollars in when crystallized it forms into its formed into this. It's very colorful. Very, it's nice if somebody says that's mine, you know, it's none of your business. What else have I have this. This piece of copper and and I got this up to the Denver museum of nature and science. So this is so this'll some sculptor copper, I got there. It's pretty cool. Very cool. And what you don't have platinum, right? No. Why not? Because it's very rare and very expensive. It is. So you don't have any of their? No. What if I gave you platinum put in. We didn't realize how expensive it was. So we wanted to buy you platinum, but it's really expensive in. It's it's, it's very, very expensive. Come around here. You can stand on here and that's what we could afford. Very, really, very pretty. It is tiny, but, but you can sell that someday and you'll be okay. It's amazing. It really is. And we. The reason that I think it's so it's so much more unique and compelling on our show, and I'm obviously biased. But the reason I think it is that we don't really do anything with them to prepare them for television appearance, right? We don't. We don't tell them how to talk to Ellen. We the the extent to which we produce them is we show them how to get from the entrance area to their seat, and that's it. We want them. I mean, the most people on our show celebrities and regular people, I think are completely unfiltered. They have no sense that there are there spontaneous. Yeah, they're Ellen is best that way too. And this kid comes out and he sitting with his feet up on the chair and he's almost in a semi lying down position kind of the way Andy sets and an Ellen just just just has fun with them. She treats him like any other guests on the show. She doesn't treat him like a seven year old. She doesn't treat them like a five year old. She just treats him like he's any other guests in that chair. And the dynamic is always whole Larry. To me. It's even more hilarious now, as we on the air so long, Ellen has no kids. So. You know, as she often says, she has no kids. So she has a really clean house with a lot of expensive stuff in it, and it's always magical. So we got a question on Twitter from Devon. Was interested in knowing or she, I guess Devon could be women. What's our backgrounds were before we ended up Ellen and I'm going to start with head Godden. I think we should start with Andy last night. I was in rehab. That's actually a lot of people. A lot of people come straight out of rehab and start working on the Trump that's kind of where we find most of our employees. No, I I, I've been doing talk shows my whole life. Really. I started at the Morton Downey junior show and and went on from there to a bunch of talk shows including Rosie, O'Donnell. Then I took a brief number of brief cents and rehab. I got better. I moved out LA and I got called by Mary Connolly and and here I am at the degenerate show for sixteen years background, you're in, you're brilliant. And all we have to do is keep you sober. Thank you. That's true for a fair number of true fun fact about me, I before the show was working on another Tele picture show called the Caroline ratio. I was consulting on it. It wasn't a show that I launched. I was consulting on it at the same time that I was consulting on it. Mary Connolly was consulting on Mary Connolly was already hired to be the executive producer of the Ellen show when it launched Mary Connolly and I became friends and six months later when the Caroline show was going off the air, Mary Connolly got them to move me and my family to California to work on the Ellen show. And story. I was going to be an Imaginaire and build theme parks, Disney before I got here and it's why for the games that we get to do is get to sketch up a game and build them, which is insane. And I came from the page program. So to marry calmly, all of our stories go back to my calmly. And if you step. I wanna get into entertainment. I strongly suggest you check it out Michael Eisner Regis Philbin I'm sure more modern references from there. But it's listen to over the last episode and if you haven't go back and listen to it, we sort of tell the trajectory of Kevin lemans career here at the show which is kind of unbelievable how you know we hired him. He's back stint. I'm back selling, producer, assistant, and now we all basically were married. We hired her. What about you? We hire Kevin, we promote them and we made him guy Mary. What did you do before this? I started my career in television as page at NBC in New York. It was probably the best job I ever had. I met friends in that job that I'll have for my entire life. It was a great job because I didn't know specifically what I wanted to do in television, and that job allows you to do a bunch of different things and fun fact, I worked in thirty rock thirty Rockefeller plaza at the same time as Ed glavin Andy last nerve. And all three of us were working on different shows. I was working on the David Letterman show. Ed was working on the Donahue show, and Andy was working on the Rosie O'Donnell show, and we were all in the same building at the same time and did not meet until years later, but I was NBC page. I got hired to work on the David Letterman show is a receptionist. I stayed for. Ten years left as a producer, moved to California for a number of years. And then when back to talk shows and was hired to launch the owns generous show, and you introduced us to some of the people, you've introduced us to some of the people from the Letterman show in their brilliant and you got the Letterman show and Dave to allow us to use his theater when we took the Ellen show to New York right years ago, we went to New York and and the good folks at the Letterman show starting with Dave allowed us to use the sullen theater. So Ellen did a couple of shows from the Ed Sullivan theater in New York City. And that was just highlight for me and just Zelter in my brain of doing two shows at the same venue. And for those of you who don't know the Ed Sullivan theater is where the Beatles premiered in the United States where the Rolling Stones premiered where the who premiered some of the greats so subscribed today on apple podcasts or wherever you're listening to us right now. Thank you so much. Listen to Ellen on the go and don't forget watch l.. On weekdays, even more Ellen fund. Don't.
Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Allison Janney, Robin Roberts
"Hi, it's Ellen Degeneres. Welcome to my podcast. We're gonna listen to some of the best moments from the show, and it's going to be hosted by four executive producers that I love happy listening on today's episode of Ellen on the go lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, the iconic lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, aka grace and Franky DIGI a f about anything Nate seltzer surprises fellow kid expert and fan. Landon. Gregory. I was fantastic. Allison Janney is looking for her new lover and his name is hot pants. True story, Robin Roberts plays around of blanking news and Ellen celebrates the most popular egg on instrument. Hello everyone. I'm Mary Connolly. Andy lasts ner, Kevin Lima's Edward Patrick Lavin. And welcome to another episode were happy to have you. And thank you for listening, and my son this morning, which said do you ever look at how many stars your podcast has? And I go no you have five stars and fourteen hundred reviews. You're kidding. Wow. Wow. I was blown away under and Ian, friends or. He never looking at Ellen on the go. And they they're like I mean stuff on yelp doesn't even get five stars. I don't know if perhaps Kevin paid people to send reviews, but do your boys listened to the podcast occasionally on the way to school. They say can we listen to that radio show? You do would you give them around? I will. Hi, ethan. And Ryan while that was really the best right? Hi. Hi, ryan. So glad you listened to the podcast. They don't like Kevin shout out to all the bought. So did those reviews? Thank you. Shoutout to do you think it's Russians? I think those are rushing. Yeah. Oh my God. There is worse for America than Trump than this podcast. They're trying to influence handy. They're trying to get you in there. So these aren't real my gosh, this is going to be fun to watch. Now. We'll see how Andy suddenly starts thinking the Russians. This is fascinating never thought of it until I never thought to look at our ratings talk about lily Tomlin, and Jane lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda, I love them so much when I was in high school lily Tomlin was on Broadway in a show called appearing nightly, and she was had a one woman show on Broadway. And it was unbelievable. It was fantastic. And I knew her from Laffin, and I knew her from that. And she's she do Letterman wishy Letterman 'cause she used to do Letterman. Yeah. She used to do Letterman, and it's so much fun to see she and Jane Fonda on grace and Franky and on this was they have all these young viewers. I think I just saw your nephew on TB. Mary. Really? Yeah. May. But just so everyone knows Mary's nephew works with Nancy Pelosi. Yeah. And is pretty high up in that. Tell you a little time Mary's political bent. Yeah. So she every time you see Nancy Pelosi on the news like walking from one meeting to another. There's Mary's nephew, which I think is very cool. But that's not what we were saying. So anyway, young people love this Franken, grace grace, and Frankie grace and Franky everyone. I know who started watching it as like, Debbie, I have watched. So my daughter, Emily, who's twenty four fell in love with grace and Franky and kept telling me to watch it. And like I do with most of the people. I love the most. I did not listen. That's all ready for an extended period of time. And then I when I truly ran out of things to watch. I thought let me try this grace and Franky and two episodes in I began wondering why the hell I never listened to people when they recommend. I love it so much. We've seen every episode where I think the new one starts out will now came out last Friday dropped last Friday, and they're just amazing together on on grace and Franky for whatever reason I didn't have such huge expectations of them together on the Ellen show. I didn't think they were going to be grace and Franky either they're going to be lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, which they were and their chemistry together. They're just like endurable. Larry's both names. Billy hasn't been here. Five times. She hasn't been here. Ten times she'd never been here before. Not one thing. I know lily Tomlin had never been here. See how give Ellen her Mark Twain prize rise. That's right. And it's just it was so fun to see how they are really sharp and funny. She is the timing that they have for the I just wanted to. I just want to go on a road trip with them. They just make me laugh lily, just I dunno lily, just just she is the perfect complement to. And Jane, just like has amazing comic timing has a little slow burn has a little look has a little thing. And then we did questions. Right. I don't think we call it. We didn't call it burning questions for them. But we we ask them questions. And the question we asked was describe each other in one word. Wow, I love and it was quite a moment. Take a listen. Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, and we're gonna play a question game in honor of the seasons a grace and Franky it's called lily in. Jane, don't give I apologized for that. That's the name of the game. And I didn't I didn't write it. But that's the theme was the it's the theme. You know, you get old and then who gives them right? Right, right. The theme this season is I don't give them right? So I'm gonna hit a button and random questions where oh up on you have to both answer. Honestly with the first thing that comes to mind. All right. Your best some immersed celebrity crush. Oh, Tony Curtis. Okay. Dorothy malone. Yeah. Okay. Started early. Something everyone loves, but you hate mashed potatoes. I love him. I was wrong. I don't know. Why said that? Jane cooked, bananas of any kind. All right. Do you want to redo Rex yourself? Now, you've lost the Hispanic audience. I'm not running for office. It doesn't matter. Right. I'm going to say, I I hate cotton balls. I don't know who likes him. But I hate cotton button ball. I don't even want to say the word. Okay. Let's go. Your go-to excuse to get out of something. I'm old. Try again. This bribe each other in one word adroitness. Totally. You'd like to do a love scene with lamb Newson. Or Mike Shelton. Yellen shelton. Oh, Blake Shelton lily. Oh. Dorothy malone. Die. We. I'm not going to say, I know I know there's enough of that going around anyway. I have a hard time answering this. Okay. Because honestly, I I love Jane. I can't it's hard for me to think of say that's the right. I know that's the right answer. Because you're telling me, it's the right end. Ways. All right. The new season of grace and Franky is available on Netflix. This friday. We'll be right back. So the questions was called Jane lily, don't give a f. Which is the theme of their show this season. And and and there and true if they were to form they didn't give and they haven't for a long time. So that's really fun. And so I'm sure it's still on your DVR, so go, you should really watch the whole interview. It's it's they were they were two or three acts and they were fantastic. And lily eighty years old is in I think jeans and a Ruth Bader Ginsburg shirts shirt with a jacket over at an rose colored glasses looking just as cool as all get out. I mean, and Jane who had on just an insanely beautiful suit was regretting that she wasn't wearing a shirt as cool as lily's. We'd love them. We do. And you know, Mary when I'm when I made a you're gonna come put some flowers at my headstone. I'm gonna will you to wherever you want a guy. Let's talk about another pair that we had. We had we had high expectations for this pair. And this pair did not disappoint. So if you're if you're a regular fan of the show, you know, Nate seltzer is our young boy kid geography six year old geography. Right. Right. And so we have him on every couple of months, and we and we love this kid, and he's so sweet. And so funny, and so cute. He's awkward and brilliant. Yep. We learned about another six-year-old geography expert name landing Craig Orie who was a huge fan of Nate seltzer 's and wanted to meet Nate seltzer because he thought they would be friends because they have lots in common because they love the each love geography, so we head landing Gregory on. And then we surprised him the way that Ellen can just embrace the awkwardness of two six year old boys meeting each other for the first time on national. Television. It's just nobody else can do that. It's just so fun in amazing. And why would you be in a hurry to get any place other than moment? This e what they were like, and I think if you listen to it you'll also hear how adorable it is. Doc was six year old geography expert, Landon Gregory, I have a surprise for you because you wanted to meet Nate. And so I thought Nate should come here and meet you so Nate come on out Nate this land in land and this is Nate Highland. Hi. So he's also six years old, and he's been on the show so many times. So he's so comfortable on here. He's like a big star. You get recognized all the time now Nate. Yeah. Both of you. Okay. So you have a fan you have a fan in Landon. How's that feel to have a fan? Awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Have you had a fan before? Yeah. Yeah. You know, what a fan, you know, what that means to have a fan. Yeah. What does it mean? It means to someone in Meyer someone else. That's exactly right. And he admires you because you and how long have you been knowing about geography he it's been since mid-july for him. I known geography sent sells four four so like a year before. So but y'all it seems like he knows a lot. Did you watch him? And just you saw you do all those what's your favorite country. I think mine is probably going to be. See? If so many to choose. Yeah. There are. There are you could just make one up. What what what what the country like China China? Okay. Do you like China also? Yeah. It's great. Do you have any advice for land? And since you've been here before this is first time. Yeah. I have two roles. Oh, okay. We'll number one always have fun. We'll number two. What's into rule number one? What do you think those rules? Yeah. Yeah. Pretty good. All right. So you only going to be best friends. Right. Yes. So what's your favorite thing about Nate? Would you say what do you like about Nate so much? He's just like me. Yeah. Okay. What's your favorite thing about Landon that he's even smarter than me? On TV. I saw I heard things that I didn't know. Geography about what what didn't you know, the capital, Chad? How about that? You knew something they didn't know or the capital, Philippines, or the capital of Philippines. Can you believe that? Here's a guy that you wanted to me. And you you know, if you more things than he does. How? Sure, y'all should be best friends because you can teach each other different things, you can learn a lot from each other. All right. And you brought land gift, right? Okay. Tell me what this is landed Russia activity book. Because he knew that this was your favorite country. So what kind of activities are in here? A word set. Wait, okay. There's it. Okay. I read it. Okay. Bossy. I hope you have a great time on the Ellen show. I hope you enjoy the activity book love Nate. And there's he drew the two of you right there next to each other. Okay. Okay. So what is this? It's a word censorsh-. Okay. Then he's got to find the words. And then what else is in here. Washing phrases, rushing alo- get by and there's no collusion. Do you ever think about wanting to create a healthier routine? It's all I think about every day. I make deals with myself. But I have a lot of celebrities in my neighborhood how close because then it'll give it away and. Where you live very close to my how close twenty houses like have you ever seen her in the neighborhood? Yes. But I didn't bother but she's an exerciser. She's an avid exerciser. So you see her walk in this. Yes. So you see her? She does a lot of running and walking. And I've seen her. I mean, but she's just one of many Mary, really. Yeah. I'm very celebrity late in neighborhood. But let's not talk about that. Johny who won the Oscar last year, I tone. You Tanya, I Tanya, she was brilliant. It's a four year this week for mom and honestly for mom, honestly. I'm not kidding fifty appearances on our like, she has been a lot since the west wing, right? Yes. I feel like she has been on our show once a season at least many times more sixteen. We're in our sixteen season. She's been on like twenty seven times. Okay. Twenty seven I said fifty exaggerate in here is better at math than you're. Yes. That's true. But yes, she's always good. She has a great relationship with L. And she's always talking about her dating life. She's just very candidate. But she's an amazing actress like she was she was ridiculous in the movie that she got the Academy Award for. Yes. She's great on mom. She was amazing in the west wing. She she is an incredible. Actress Allison and Ellen. We're talking about their beliefs and psychic and who had a better psychic very hilarious. Yes. And Allison's psychic told her to the man was coming into her life and his name. Hot pants, right? He was going to be known as Mr. hot pants, and she has been living her life. She began working began working out and dressing better and going out it used to be a homebody. And now she's going out of meetings. She certain she's gonna be she's not sure where and thinking every time she gets an invite somewhere, she should go because this hot pants. So what if you're for I send something when I walked up to the stage. She sort of looked at me like are you? She's never seen someone so fat. I hate you. Uncalled for. This is all about me having a lot of celebrities in my neighborhood. Take a listen, I heard that you're single, but that that may change what's happening. Well, what does that mean in may change? I don't know about you. But I like to go see psychic Stu, I do like it. It's kind of interesting I went to the psychic. And she kept saying she kept seeing this this man that was gonna come into my life. And she said I want to. I mean, I'm seeing a lot of things I see in in the bedroom. And this man is going to be all my he's I'm seeing a lot of things he's doing too. Well, I'm just gonna call him. I'm gonna call them hot pants. So she's called him hot pants. And now this was a couple of months ago, and I still haven't found hot pants, but I keep looking for him keeps making me. Like, I go do things. I don't usually do just because I'm gonna go get the old change in my car because maybe hop pants will be there. It's getting me out of my house. I don't know if that's what she was really trying to do. But I keep I doing more things. I usually do because I think that had pants is going to hear that. That's so weird that she sees. What's your doing in the bedroom that she's she's visualizing you with someone else? That's kind of weird barris about what she was saying. It was weird. But she also said a lot of other things that have come true. So what we'll I can't. I'm. Scott. Alright those things. No, I do believe in them because I see I actually talked to someone on a regular basis. And she's yes, she's been right about like crazy. Anyway, there could be the same person as your name Gye. No. Then it's not. Mine is named Wendy. She's not good from what I've heard. Yeah. I asked my psycho better. And she said. I don't know Wendy. Can I give you an exclusive games clip for the podcast? I have one how about us getting renewed for season three days and grabbing Jila shame games. Congratulations. You so, you know, whenever we talk game of games, we always give extra. Congratulations to Kevin you do because the three Mary Ed and Andy are fortunate enough to be part of the executive producing team. But really the games and the mechanics of the games are all from the demented brain of Kevin Leman. So so the reason we give him a shout out is because we feel fortunate to be included. We do it all together, we do it together. And obviously, obviously, it's true. And and it wouldn't work without me involved. But I'd like to give Kevin do, but it is funny because on Twitter everyone's like who comes up with this. And I'm like, I wish you would meet Kevin Leman and understand how insane and heaven has. Here's here's three. Kevin has three or here's what the three of us deserve credit for. Yes. We knew early on that Kevin Leman had was going to know just has an imagination that is. You just don't see it every day. You just don't see it every day. And so when you do you you you time up for the rest of his life. And even when he thinks getting out you pull him back in. Well, we knew you know, we knew he had an imagination and we knew he needed friends. And we also knew that he'd be. But Kevin is a great example of that kid in school that, you know, you'll you'll make fun of and didn't fit in whatever. But we saw we saw something in him because nobody else wanted to hire him. No one wanted him. And we said, you know, what let's give this kid a chance we do need to dedicate a whole episode one day to Kevin lemans obsession. And when I say obsession, I'm actually under selling it with Disney and how he grew up obsessed with that because it's a whole. Here's the point the point is a brand new game games. Yes. That's what we were getting one of Ellen's favourite. Slowly, what else favorite contestants is on tonight? He is everything he says is laugh out. Loud hilarious. I'm excited for him. And one of our favorite games. Don't leave me hanging. Oh, yeah. Because they're under pressure. And they give insane answers because you have three contestants tethered to. They're all tied into ropes that will get yanked through the ceiling. If they give the wrong answers. There's a lot of pressure to answer fast and correct as such night. We just get some of the craziest answers, and here's the very first round of only hanging from chides episode and enjoy -joy Joey. Start with you celebrities whose name starts with a W. Wendy Williams, lending Williams. That is right. We'll farrell. Okay. My god. Oh my God. There's so many of them. Tennis player on. Sorry, you're gonna what was the tennis players. Name would good matter. Anyway. Yeah. To sites and what he Harrelson Whoopi Goldberg. Yeah. I love that show. Of that show. I love watching that show with my kids. It's it really is family entertained when you think of a game. Like don't leave me hanging. You've three people they're sitting there, and they're tethered to this thing that's going to pull them up into the air and on the third pull it literally Yanks them into the rafters is it based on anything in your head. You see something where you go. Oh, I have an I like how does it happen in your head that you come up with a game started with dirty title? It was originally called fire down below that. That's right. Very often. Kevin is told us this before, but very often the ideas start with the title, I could title, then I got very excited when we got the primetime show to rename it by Felicia, right? And we all love the title NBC, not so much. No. Nope. Then I think it went through three other talent changes before we settle Dali hanging. But we work primarily at NBC with three people game of games. We sure does Yanni groom. Yes. Sahara Bush shoe before do issue and Steve Ridgway. Yes. And we are very very long and Paul to lead. The of course, who run the whole thing though, ship for regionally the guy we originally pitched the concept too big for under told Brunen British year or stralia something with an accent. Meredith is joined the team. Oh. Oh, she's wonderful lovely. I love everyone at NBC. We're very team over there. And I'm sure our viewers really love this talk about executives from television. Keep. Get you want keep. On their right to Paul till? I love. Anything you have about NBC call. He loves taking calls. Speaking of games, Robin Roberts Ellen played a great game. They did play great bits called blanking. News summit usually Ellen into which play. But since we had Robin Roberts who's the Queen of the news here. We thought we'd try it. Bad news is she's cleaning the news. Yes. I love her love her. She loves you love when Robin has come anytime own struggles in life, and has always been joyful, and I just love her. She's a good human being she's been through some stuff, ma'am. She sure has here's how that went. So you're on a and I thought it'd be fun to play a game. We call blanking news. So I'm gonna read a news headline, and it's missing one or two words, and then twitch, and you and I which is really good. He always wins. Here's the first one. To blank are accused of stealing five hundred thousand dollars in spending it on gambling and vacations. Two nuns. That's good. Guess. I'm gonna say children. I'm gonna say to. To seniors to seniors. Okay. We've got arrange here. All right. Let's say two nuns accused of embezzling. Many gambling. That's not fair here. You do the news. Every you probably knew that. Twitch we're up against somebody. Who knows the news? All right. Here's a Necker island. Texas woman wakes up from surgery with thick. Last time we had a blank blank was grilled cheese. But that's not gonna work. This is going to be stupid, and it's not going to be right at all with thick. It's true. Testicular glands. Listen, it couldn't be more wrong than that. I know. I don't think I followed it followed the world you followed the egg. Do we have someone come forward saying they are the like was it a person? I don't think anybody cares. If anybody I think the original person came forward who said let's beat everything was he has an egg or last. I heard correct me if I'm wrong if you for update our team reached out to the egg, and they're keeping the identity secret and didn't want reveal who's behind the Kimmel listing. Probably I don't know if they were point during the UK, I believe, so if you're unfamiliar with the right? This is this is a human being who opened an Instagram account with an and posted one thing in the name of the Instagram account. I believe is world eg and said, let's get this to be the most liked Instagram pick ever. Yeah. And and it has and it quickly surpassed like nineteen. Views that it had led the record of of Kardashian barely Jenner. Jenner showing stormy store. I I just holding your finger. Yeah. There's been hand. Yeah. That had that had eighteen million. This thing has will. But does it have now? Can you check? Let's I'm gonna guess that. It has thoroughly music. I'm gonna guess into this thirty million likes. It's insane. Oh, no. It was it was it was more than that. Wasn't. Yeah. Are are wonderful Kevin Leman decides. That would if we if the Ellen show posts combination of Kylie Jenner and the. How could you not right? You would think that would be amazing that I was kind of correct? And that seven million seven reelect, real eggs. Ars four has gotten to four million. We started all this nonsense. I should give Ellen the credit. We started all this nonsense with nonsense with the Oscar selfie. We sure did we're responsible at the yourself was before. There was a thing called Instagram. Anything up at four point three point four anything on the internet and started with us. Just remember, what did you say? You said he was saying that it all started with ourself. And I just said we're kind of responsible for everything that's good in the world. And remember that time when Ellen was hosting the Oscars. Andy got into Twitter fight with Trump, and then he blocked them. That's right. My favorite thing about our poses. Lindsay Lohan posted crying, laughing emojis love right away. That's anyone watch your new show. No, I wanna watch it. I don't. So. So back to the one just one last time. I just love when Ellen in the writers taken event like that in pop culture and run at it like the second that it becomes the thing. And I just don't think anybody does that better. Yeah. We're just so good at what we do. God, I know a lot of you look at this show is an escape. And sometimes I have to talk about things that are going on in the world that that are serious. No matter how serious they are. So today, this is what I saw in the news Instagram most like post is now a photo of aid. Must be a sexy. Tell you that this is the most popular Instagram posts. I don't it doesn't do anything for me. But I don't judge. So here's what happened. Do you know about this anybody some people know, all right? Well, ten days ago, someone started Instagram account and posted this AIG and said, let's set a world record together and get the most like post on Instagram beating the current world record held by Kylie Jenner and says we got this. So kylie's photo that they're referring to is this one that she posted last year with her baby, which is a precious photo. And it has over eighteen million likes. And I understand that that's beautiful picture. So that was the record holder, but not anymore. Now that AIG has. Over forty one million likes. The eggs life has completely changed. I want that on the show egg. If you're listening. I want you on the show. So now that holds the record everyone's going to try to beat the egg. And you know, what happens when you beat today gets homeless? Thank you. I spend it up. So you weren't ahead of me. I. So anyway, I think I know how to break the record. I combine both posts I named it Edward shelling. Jenner the third. And it is working. This now has are most like photo, it has almost four million likes on it. So that's more likes than this photo of me in the rock. That's more than this photo of me. And Julia Roberts somehow it's more likes than this photo of Barack Obama giving me the presidential medal of freedom. Hashtag. But I think this is great because with all the divisiveness that we have going on in the world, we found something that we can all agree on. It's a damn eg. That's what we all agree on at least. It's something it's better than nothing. What you guys we've learned a lot about each other today. It was really good. Acted in India. You really let it like. Yes. Do watch the show. We're having great original shows right on a are. And as I look at our booking board, which you people can't see who are listening.
