Kevin Howard envisions a world Where success is measured not by not by our investments, but by our contributions to humanity as a whole. And Kevin, you have a new book on board. And tell us about onward at last. Tell us about the new book, please. And welcome to the program. Nice to have you with us. Ranking is so wonderful to be here with you today to talk about my new book onward at last, 17 4020. And The book is a book really is a clarion call to each of us. We all know And here constantly all the problems in the stress and the neck that the toxic discourse that we go through each day. And but we need to have a method of how how do we deal with this? How do we How do we How do we find fulfillment? In this environment, and so on with that last just speaks to my journey of how I found it and called each of us because the answer rests with the person who was looking back. It's when the mirror Karen So tell us a little bit about your story. Sure I am very much. You know, a child of the American dream. I mean, I was born and raised in the Bronx. You know, a single parent. You know, you know, you know, college educated, graduate school educated, you know, I had the pleasure of serving four years active duty in the military. I served President Reagan was my commander in chief. So here I go date myself and and and I built incredible career. You know, in banking, you know, before I found myself at the age of 40 on the path to a stroke, basically feeling totally unfulfilled, and that I had done everything that society would have me do. You know, it's so interesting, you know, it's it's It's always you know, they were always here. It's not. It's not how much you have in your bank roll. On the day of your death is your dying That's going to matter, you know, And I think we have a hard time is Americans. Really? And truly we say it, but we don't really conceptually understand that word. That concept. This's true because basically we're not socialized to do self. What I found is the challenge that faces us. Is that the core American virtues? Of independence of freedom of self interest of competition have push has been pushed to such extremes that they no longer serve us. That they've moved us away from who we actually are. That What all would at last is encouraging us to do is to remember who we are. Right Bye bye chest, focusing in on the most basic concepts. How is it that we exist each day? You see in this busy modern world? None of us think about how we exist. We just exist. But there is wisdom and how we exist each day. So who asked yourself who produced the food I'm going to eat today. Who produced the clothes I wear today. When we think about all the goods and services we need that allow us to exist every day. How much of that is produced by our family and friends. Questions like this, that lead us down the path. Of understanding who we are. And even Khun reveal what our purpose is. So what do you recommend? Let's go back a little bit. Let's go back to You're Going to be 40 years old and you're headed for a stroke. What was that moment? For you Give his details of what was that? Wake up call. That you had. That day, Kevin Howard. It was very much what an increasing number of Americans are feeling right now, notwithstanding whatever success you achieve your not getting satisfaction from the journey. Or the destination. So at that moment, I had a big house married, beautiful kids, successful job money in the bank. All the things that should lead to a life of off comfort of personal fulfillment. And yet it was hollow..

North Carolina is one of six states the others are Mississippi South Dakota New Mexico Utah on ally with such a loss sometimes known as the home wrecker laws basically if a person has relations with a married person and it causes their divorce that's illegal in North Carolina and if the defendant is unable to pay the judgment against him it turns into a debt code and lower beer on the credit report this guy and his wife were married for twelve years he said the elders marriage sacred and the split with his wife was almost unbearable this alienation of affection dates back to the dowry days of the Old English law in North Carolina first recognize that in Barbie versus Armistead in eighteen forty nine and then in eighteen sixty eight the state passed the married women's property act which allowed women to sue to I don't understand all this stuff but in North Carolina yet this in North Carolina it's still legal to commit the act of adultery statute fourteen one eighty four fornication and adultery states if any man or woman not married to each other shall Luthuli associate bed and co habit together they shall be guilty of a class two misdemeanor hi all sounds like people need to double check if they want to move to North Carolina they want to get a little frisky with someone else I better double check where they want to move yeah you Kinnie mess around there holy cow but I guess there are still people who feel that way at least there are certainly those in North Carolina it's coming up on eight fifteen and we go to the news room now and Chris treatment president trump will speak at noon today about being acquitted in his Senate impeachment trial the Republican led Senate voted to acquit trombone articles of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress house speaker Nancy Pelosi says president trump is still a threat to democracy despite being acquitted by the Senate Vermont senator Bernie Sanders continues to lead a tracking poll less than a week before the New Hampshire democratic presidential primary Sanders is first with twenty five percent support in the Boston globe Suffolk university poll former south bend Indiana mayor Pete booted judge has moved up to second with nineteen percent former vice president Biden says his fourth place finish in Iowa was like a gut punch fake actor Kirk Douglas has died he received three academy award nominations never took home the gold for his performances but did receive an Oscar for lifetime achievement as well as the presidential medal of freedom Douglas was in more than eighty movies including the epic Spartacus and the Disney adventure twenty thousand leagues under the sea he was considered the last link to the golden age of Hollywood studios Douglas was one hundred three I'm Chris Franklin newsradio WFLA knowledge exports from the ninety five three W..

Thank you for listening really thanks for being part of the team and we'll talk to you soon. Okay okay. Thank you so much here. We go a guy north. North Carolina recently sued the guy who stole his wife. North Carolina is one of the handful of states with Alien Nation of affection laws. This guy has got seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars. A guy named Kevin Howard from North Carolina had been married to his wife for twelve years when he found out she'd been cheating on him with a coworker she wound up leaving her husband for that guy well North Carolina's one of the states where they let you sue someone for quote purposefully interfering with the marital relationship. Kevin blamed his wife's coworker for seducing her stealing her away and destroying the marriage so he sued the guy anyone. Oh Oh my gosh I know I mean I'm just like as I didn't know that that was even a thing in handful of states and then. Do you think it'll day that opens a dumb law anyone she'd be sued. It should be her right. You don't get seduced unless you're in the place to be seduced. I it's it's like someone wanting to beat up the dude that y'all Cheetah with you. beat up to dude. He was just being the dude. He's no relationship to you. Get Mad at her. She's the one that broke your bond. Your Truth Truth your vow and is based on. I mean I get it. Yes he should he should be able to sue her. I guess but no no snow suing yeah. I know if you had it to legally. If you break up or divorced you handle legally what happened. You split the assets. That's why that exist okay. It's the dumbest law I've ever heard doing doing the aware. How do they get seven hundred thousands of based on like what you make or is that like the magic number that suddenly makes it okay or punitive ally it is I mean punitive. You should look that up because I just one of those words. Want you know it set in the bylaws. You're just making a the kid down so when I was a kid though I would say you don't know a punitive means you need to to go look it up and I would have to go to the dictionary or get an encyclopedia and had to look up a word and then I would have forget it most of the time but go ahead. What God gave you that definition the editor you WANNA. Do you WanNa read it. Lunch was pointed up Hyun. Tive go ahead. It's an adjective. Oh boy uh-huh inflicting or impending as punishment can intended as punishment so what does that mean. I'm still confused. It okay yeah I guess I I don't know I was just curious where the seven hundred fifty thousand came from but that's the punishment. You pay do the time Tom. Yeah because there really wasn't anything they owed right like he didn't. Om this money it wasn't he was getting it back sentence punishment. Oh yeah of that much money and it probably has a lot to do with what he had already already. Had Guy was probably really rich. Let's take him for what he has. When you sue a person or company for Heaven wrong do you in some way you normally ask for something of value if you or deprive from something with like a punishment Jordan them anyway too dumb lol crazy man. Some people are people are that exists. He just went to the right lawyer. That was like well. You Know L. North Carolina's only places where we could do this. I'm getting Tyson recently divorced. It's absolutely partially his fault. No they guy has nothing to do with anything. Reading what about when people say it takes two will but he takes to the to the marriage wasn't going right for the husband of the wife that left him can't sue the other guy that's what happened right allowed in North Carolina and apparently probably North Carolina. I'm changing north security. Check and see what's going on. Arkansas is going to be governor of all. I did a bobby cast a pretty good one yesterday to different people I I talked to Sharon my ex dance partner on dancing with the stars and it was also about her not being back on the show. I wanted to give her a beat but she's talking talked about how she got the call that she would not be returning to dancing with the stars while she was at that point. I would apartment me up this season and that they love me and I'm a part of the this is family and the cost will be interchangeable now season to season. This'll be happening quite a lot and he harps it. you know next season two different curtain whatnot so we talked about that and then it had bret michaels a program director on who programs to stations over in Bakersfield California just to talk to the people about what a radio station program actually does because a lot of people wonder what are they do. They run station warranty plan more females. Why aren't they play more old school. Why aren't they so I had him come on and actually talk through that so and he was in studio and we did that so there's a bobby cast up search for Bobby casts wherever you listen to your podcasts if you listen to the iheartradio awesome awesome and check it out. Yeah I failed a lot and I've I've seen a lot of failure and this is not a marriage not marriage advise. This is law advice right. This is just a weird law. It's a weird law. Which is why most states don't have it saying. It's a normal law. If you're gonNA cheat with somebody else. It's not that somebody else's fault. They have no relationship to you. It's your girls fault have chosen to stay and make it work with you but she chose to leave or should have chosen hey. Let's break it out. It's one to right anyway ABC Not see abandonment of affection is in Arkansas that law to I'll be changing yeah. I was trying to being a handful.

All major credit cards are accepted and it's easy to cash out on six hundred dollars today. A one hundred percent six hundred bucks today I was riding the predicted markets like the wolf of predicted it and walked with six hundred bucks in my account rent time. It was very nice and guys straight up. It's easier than sports gambling like you actually have an edge you. Do you have bad debts. Yes right. You don't have to take a F- A complete loss at involved guys. You Bet drunk which we all do hope hope. Mike Pence has a few tweaks tomorrow yeah no kidding all right moving onto the news buffet daily New Jersey. We have a little update for our longtime listeners. You may remember back in August or around that time we cover the case of North Carolina man who is suing his wife's lover for basically being a home wrecker man Kevin Howard had filed a suit against his wife's lover for Alien Nation of affections which is the Technical Term Aka fucking my wife better than I could. this claim only only exist in a small number of states out. Jan Howard decided to give it a shot in one big finally settling in court the judge awarded him seven hundred and fifty thousand dollars to be paid by his wife's Lover Lover Too that was about to say if it's common law what you just get it from yourself now. It's boy you really hoping that the judge cannot trial What kind of apology do you have have to give to your lover but the crime exists on the books I mean it doesn't matter if the judges cooker not he's GonNa side with the alienated alienating defections. I feel like that's up to interpretation yeah. I feel like that. It's just it's just year five of marriage we. I'll get into it so in court. Howard said quote he was a colleague of hers from work. He ate dinner with several the times we spent time together. I thought he was a friend. unfortunately for Kevin the dinner wasn't the only thing that coworker was challen down on the house. What what do you mean. What am I mean you know. My mother listens to this show well. You asked me apparently this kind of case is pretty common in states where it is allowed and apparently have a good chance of winning if you can prove that you were once in a loving relationship until Don Juan showed up and fuck your wife like a wild stallion wow therefore in their relationships downfall. That's an even trade because it's like if you want the money you have to photograph your wife getting boned those cases crying and taking photos yeah yeah you gotTa have a lot of self as of dislike at like amusement parks and shit took. The guy's life got ruined. I mean it's no it's terrible but he got grand breakup happen. He's seven hundred fifty richer were married for twelve years. You probably different than like a relationship of a couple of months. You Got West. He got a fucking severance package from his marriage is whoa that's exactly what he got pat so according to Kevin's attorney who practices these cases a lot this law slash tort whatever the fuck that me it was like this is the worst I've ever seen. The guy was such a plus those amazing so back. Dick's best came into play. Oh I wonder if these case we're GONNA have to ward extra damages here probably don't bring it up getting lowered if she's. There's no chance they bring up. Dick size I guarantee you. The judgments are affected by how hot the dude is. That was banging your wife. I guarantee if he's a stud. Get more. It seems like it'd be rich is and and how Richie is bigger. Smile is yeah exactly how satisfied walks which car she gets into the day this law tort all began back in the day in English law apparently when wives were considered property so you could sue a man for stealing them yes. She also said she wants the lawyers also that she wants a one a settlement of five point nine million dollars back in two thousand ten so hey if you live in Hawaii Mississippi New Mexico South Dakota North Carolina and of course Utah and your wife is cheating on you with a rich guy. It's absolutely worth a shot and you know our our condolences to Kevin. Sounds like the Kinda guy is gonNA. Get over this just fine. He's GonNa he's. He's GonNa use that seven hundred fifty thousand dollars to find a new woman who will promptly cheat on him because drought himself in we gotta take us. This is horrible news for Dateline Twenty Twenty because once once word gets out murdered jealous rage murder going to drop dramatically in these states because if you can win in court it's probably good news. I fucking love dateline okay good news for show on TV producer people the next one takes us back to DC where the Republican side of the day it was almost as nutty as democratic side with the Bernie healthcare it it all started when trump was meeting with the president of Finland for some reason during the question period of that meeting things drifted to the impeachment inquiry is they tend to do so after your trump responded to a question about Ukraine describing Ukraine as a beautiful wall between Russia and Europe which is a strange way to describe a country. The reporter followed up and demanded trump answer the original question which was what do you want Ukrainian president to do in regard to Joe. Biden and trump did not like that. He basically just went nuts saying Joe Biden is crooked. I forget the exact terminology but crooked was a term used going back to the Hillary on that one he's also said the media is corrupt so that's not nothing new and then he demanded that a reporter asked finish president a question any any question. Shen anybody don't ask him about Ukraine. Ask the Finnish president something he was hot. He was very pissed. You got to see the video no to not see the video. Yeah it was it was is trending. It was called a trump meltdown during Wednesday and I'm pretty sure right. After that is when he dropped a wild propaganda video like this is a meme video. It's a game changer in the propaganda world in my opinion and what it is is it's it starts off with Joe Biden saying he has I've never heard of of Hunter Biden's Ukrainian gas business partners and then it cuts directly to the song nickelback look at that photograph whatever however it goes and it's and it's you could've you could've sang sang the song. Can you go ahead again. What's the words look this photograph. Every doesn't make me laugh. I almost I almost no it yeah. No that was it every time. I'll do older grabbed. I'm sure we're going to play it. At the end of this episode you'll hear but anyway so then it's playing that song and it goes to a picture. The photograph of Joe and Hunter Biden playing golf with the Ukrainian gas executive who Joe Biden is supposed. I know nothing about who he said he said. I've never discussed my son's oversea durant. I remember the exact terminology but yeah yeah nothing but my boys are actually named the clip tip of Joe Biden Adam and then showed a picture of Joe Biden getting caught in a lie while dropping nickelback in the I I do want to ask you as if you think that it trump knows the significance of what he did because I listen to interview with pen Gillette talking about stealing Rodney Davis shine. Boy Congress came on our show. I went viral for liking nickelback because that's what trump dizzy stole his nickelback cemented nickelback as the Republicans band. That's true even McLarty's ban now. Even though nickelback back refused to comment when we tried to because we don't we we got the VIBE that they didn't want to be associated with all the Republicans love them. They might they might as well go for now. They're Canadian. They don't WanNa get involved in American politics well their president's doing black face every chance he gets. That's how winds coming up. We know we know what you're going to be Trudeau. Actually it was an Arabian nights. Theme Party will a whole month of black face or him in October. Okay so two things out of this. I gotta say like we talked about. Trump has a mean team. That's it's working around the clock and you should expect more of this shit too. Come out because clearly he's got something going with this and like we discussed love it or hate it. It definitely nickelback the band of the Republicans also trump had tweeted the word bullshit in all caps earlier in the day which has to be the first time a sitting president has tweeted bullshit probably yeah well two presidents on twitter right. Obama was more like under his breath kind of guy yeah so it's just a wild day for politics both sides. That's bullshit for sure well. We're GONNA have to pit it. we have to do an update here for you on the another update. I should say on the Dallas Cop cop style Dallas Cop Amber Geiger who told you was convicted of murder not manslaughter in the killing of her apartment neighbor remember she came home late after a long shift to work and went completely wrong apartment on the wrong floor saw the person who lived in the apartment after she walked in both gene then pulled out a gun and shot him to death in his doorway. Well she got sentenced sentence on Wednesday and guess how much time she got for her murder conviction thirty years task some guests and she got the chair fifty right the shape of that. I would say fifteen to life or the chair. We all know it was ten years. Yeah da Di sentenced to ten years probably serve six she could have faced up to ninety nine nine years and prosecutors asked for no less than twenty eight years in prison which is how old the victim gene would-be today but he was shot to death in his home so he's dead he died. It's twenty six and make it a twenty eight. Geiger's long home at the wrong time right Geiger's loved ones took to the stand on Wednesday for like as they do during pre sentencing like both sides get to go up on Wednesday and she and said that she'd always dreamed of having job in law enforcement and that she overcame childhood sexual assault to achieve that dream no word on whether she always dreamed of shooting shooting someone multiple times to death in their home while they were hanging out guessing that's yeah I mean you have to throw in the sexual assault yeah like before the sentencing. Everyone gets suit pitch their case like Oh. She was assaulted me. Tell you what my what hardship I had befriend murdered. The whole thing that judge must have also been assaulted. No maybe maybe the judge department. -partment has nothing to do with fucking shooting interestingly. Geiger's friends and family weren't the only support Geiger received as jeans younger brother who his family described his suffering more than anyone from the killing also took to the stand on Wednesday to speak directly to Geiger. He urged her to pray..

"Your blowing it and again the perfect soundbite the perfect sound bite. I knew angelo. I knew exactly what he said what he meant. He didn't have to scream at me. You know i didn't i i didn't i didn't get active that way. He just sit com manner. You'll blowing us on your blowing it. I got us to and i quote what time with the right hand and purchase like. It was the first round. I just my best to count. That's my d._n._a. It it was a famous soundbite angelo dundee. I think it was before the thirteenth round where he said you're blowing it son. You're blowing it. Lauren ray you the word you used the perfect. You activated activated it cujo. Could you activate that type of thing when you need it it. Could you consciously activated. How do you activate that. You know what i give motivational speaking all over the world and i talk about power repair overcome win every round and i said we all have this hidden reservoir strength as it's like the woman who tries who lifted copper the challenge. You know to save a kid the same thing we have it but the difference is i. I could be activated. Can you activate that. I think that that want something so you're retired. You retired a few times but i gotta say one of the times when you when you came no matter retirement to fight a guy in marvin hagler who essentially only god this guy. He was thought to be unbeatable indestructible. I mean he was in his prime and also obliterating world class fighters and you came out of retirement and literally rate. You're going to get the hell off your couch and fight. This guy guy. It seems is much respect as i had for you. It seemed like the craziest idea ever like ray. What were you thinking and what was the reaction in the boxing. When you said i'm coming out of retirement by the women to fight hagler i saw him fight <hes> john to be split copy and i saw something and then i remember him fighting durant and fighting roberto durant at the fight and i get knocked out cold because there is not really that big anybody you know he puts on my way but after fight durant came over to the <hes> <hes> raeside you box you beat them. These say told me that and and again i i say i can win. I can i can do this. The world the world thought i was crazy and they say also the concerns were i. I had a detached retina and and they just i thought i would be just seriously injured <hes>. I don't think maybe out of a hundred people. Maybe one person would think you'd probably relative was like a win. My father believe i could win but you know <hes>. I don't think no one else believed that and it's not and if i'm looking down but it's the reality of it hagler was a decent ivory and then i got i got knocked down. I came back and got knocked down by kevin kevin howard and kevin how is no marvelous marvin hagler rare remember that i remember that it seemed like it was kind of a flash knockdown but at the same time i was thinking is what hell if kevin howard is knocking ray leonard down right what is hagler going to do and you down before right when when he knocked down don't have i yeah i. I've been down all right so were you. Were you actually hurt just kind of embarrassed no more embarrassing. He hit me on on the temple which knocks off your equilibrium and you know you go down you go down and this you know how like down oh here right all right so but hag with the earth about this rain and some people know this but not everybody before the.

"Guys on ESPN radio here. Molded the window closed there on a Santa ball joke. Third baseman, right? I isn't that his name blow Sandoval kung-fu panda who are trying to come up with the line for God's why his parents called him? And his brother group of pandas could feed it, Tim and time. Bobin is gonna join us at twelve thirty eastern in an hour. I just went into the other room and asked Allison houses English, and she said we'll find out in an hour, as a John wick, though, isn't John Weck. Yes. Kevin arnovitz is with us now. And he's calling in for a number of different reasons. He always makes us a little basketball smarter. But he like a we was really mad at Howard Beck for not taking a stand on sports radio on where to rank the qui- shot whether a clai shot in the second round can be the biggest. Shot in history. And what was the biggest shot in NBA history? So arnovitz go ahead and break it down not like that cowardly angel of nuance. Kevin Howard Beck. So I think there were couple of different categories and axes. You measure, right? So, for instance, stakes these, I think the point that, you know, you may which is a second rounder, right? Like Toronto planning it another week or two. Right. Like, how big can shot be if it doesn't truly impact just trophies in doesn't like kings, the course of NBA history. Anything Ray Allen? Right. So, so I think that's, that's number one. But I also think like theatrics and so the accurate would be like the push the floor bounces that on the rim while while while I Colli lich between per, you know, sort of tongue between pursed lips watching it with, with that base that, that Embiid had, and, you know, the know the Jordan push would be one get that yellow rope outta here. Whatever it was with the race said. So I think you also have to account for, like just the sheer set piece. Right. And so, I think in that category, the Colli shot is pretty big. But I'm with you in the sense that a shot glass to just truly impact the entire. Course of NBA history. And he Ray Allen doesn't mitt that shot like that's I mean, we're talking to time describing it though. It gives the Colli shot if they win the title, then it becomes a bigger shot than it just was or says, we won't know for many, many weeks. I mean did the number of bounces impact is standing on the list. That's a good stuff. Like, that's, that's the rape the, the push off with Jordan, like they just to meet you need those set pieces. But that's interesting. 'cause I never thought about it. So it might be that you can't even actually evaluate a shop vac until the one is arnovitz. You guys. Somebody somebody pick one on a pick away Allen shot. Yes. That's That's a good one. the fun stage in tire like like championship. Kate..
