Yankees’ Gerrit Cole Makes Plea to MLB Over Pitching With Foreign Substances

"For the Yankees yesterday. Yankees going to win yesterday. But Cole came out after the game and again said Hey, man, like I It's a really tough time gripping the baseball. I talked to Kevin Frandsen yesterday and he gave that old that old, uh, sort of analogy that feels like hold the cue ball like a pool. Cuba, especially When the weather is cold like that, so we'll hear from Gerrit Cole. He had some comments about what went down yesterday. He's pleading with Major league baseball to just talk to us because I understand you got a police it but just talk to us. He goes. You can police it and we can make sure guys aren't getting hurt. Be it hitters or pitchers making sure guys aren't having to change things right in the middle of the season that, he says. We've been living in this gray area, and now now he's sounding a little bit more reasonable considering What we heard from him A couple of weeks ago when he was asked about whether or not he uses Spider attack or use the sticky substances that he was put on the spot. He's not not not blaming anybody. Or, or, uh, it's not saying that that the guys aren't doing anything. We lived in this ray area for so long, And now you've you've clamped down so hard that there's an immediate change, and it's totally impacting the way the game is going to be playing baseball saying Well, it was impacting the the way the game was played the other way. So I think the feeling is there has to be some middle ground anyway. We can get back

"You know, I mean, giving example he was hit in the batting cage one day in 1993 when he first got to the Giants, and then you know that year they had Will Clark and Matt Williams and Williams was hitting behind Bonds, and he had like a two for 36 going one day. And the bonds is getting in the cage, and he's just tripping balls out and hitting balls anywhere you want doing whatever he wants, and then Williams gets in there and he struggled. He's popping up, baby. People's. You know what? Matt? That was a grinder. I mean, he was He did not. He was not a funny guy when he was grinding when when things weren't going good. And some kids he keeps proper. These things up in bonds in the cage next to Clark goes. Imagine what I'd be it because he was hot. He was in like 4 50. At the time during this stretch, and he looks up look like you imagine what I'd be hitting if I was getting some practice protection from this guy, and he points to Matt Williams and I thought that he was gonna choke him, but it was an observation. And it was just sort of. Well, this was sort of an obvious thing to say. So there was no real filter. I mean, you wouldn't say that to a teammate because you know it's going to take him up. But I think what bonds did I think? He said that to motivate Met Williams and he did very shortly thereafter he he caught fire. And then you know, they turned out to be one of the greatest 123 punch in San Cisco Giants history point being that that bonds didn't miss anything. And when he would say things a lot of times, you know, you had to be able To digest what he said. You can't react emotionally to the first thing that came out of his mouth. You had to listen to what he was saying, because in all likelihood, it was something that was going to improve your game and He was quite unique in that way. I mean, he was It was just different. And I love the fact that Kevin Frandsen, you know, came out there and told this story because maybe if this is what it's gonna take to get Bonds in the Hall of Fame, it's gonna take more human interest stories when players that played with him Are going to come out and say, Hey, this guy was a good player. He was good for the game. Let him in. Let him where he belongs. Well, there's obviously is for any things that Bonds also took interest in him because he was a very guy that there was a very, very, very loyal to his soil. I'm totally totally. I mean, that's why bonds came back. That was genuine. I mean, look, he got a great piece of change, No doubt about it. But he turned down money in New York to come back to his home. He wanted to come back to San Francisco. I mean, he loved the fact that he was gonna come back and put on the same uniform that his dad war that has Godfather war. That meant a lot to him. He is incredibly loyal in that regard and And you know, we were all the benefactors. We got to watch the greatest of the generation. And hopefully this time around, he gets voted in. Yeah, well, see, like we said that on ramp up in January, and we'll see how that goes. But anyway, yeah. So listen. That's the deal. We'll see what happens the next couple days on the on the hot Stove league, and, uh and and Mike. We always look forward to the chats, whether we're talking bonds or free agency or whatever stuff. "Way had to really good options to choose from. I understand this is the way you play. You guys had the best record in the American beat the Yankees beat the Astros got to Game six of the World Series. But there were other factors here. Anderson and giving up runs six straight appearances. Lake had been really dominant against the top of their line up. Lt has been much better against righties and lefties. Did all that enter into it or no Everything enters into the decisions that were making. We want to do right. We want to make the best decision or I want to make the best decision that helps our club win and Blake was outstanding for us. You know, looking back on it. That's good, A death. He said it right The first time we I made the best decision because again, that decision was made before the game before the game started. Clearly, that decision was made before the game started. And as I said earlier on, if it wasn't it's even worse. It's even worse if you said I watch this and then his head over moving because you know Blake had given us everything he could have given it. Guess he didn't agree with you. Blake smelled it. Agree with you, Blake. Snell. Most certainly didn't agree with you. I don't know if the Dodgers agreed, but they're happy. That's the conclusion you came to. How could you possibly say a man who has dominated lineup in thrown? 73 pitches had emptied the tank and given you everything he had to give you so Coming up from 60 game season talk. I understand two games not like to see. I like to see the time I'd like to hear. I'd like to see the time from when the ball hit the ground from Barnes is single. To cash arriving on the mound. I guarantee you, it's it's It's a very small amount of time. I mean, I know he was right out there. I mean, I thought he knew what he was going to do. I was laughing as soon as soon as the camera went to him. I just I could not believe what I was seeing there. And here. Here's the other thing. That just the most ridiculous thing If you believe so, strictly in numbers that you're going to literally Make these decisions all based on the numbers. How about the number? 1 32, because that's the difference between that's 132 batting point is the difference between what Mookie is against lefties vs righties and he chose. I mean, To me. It's like it's so crazy. It's like OK, so what was coming up next? Mookie Betts, So don't you have to think no matter what happens, you have to think about what gets out Mookie Betts when you're looking down at the book, and it says while he's to await against lefties, he's 3 40 against righties and you have a lefty and who's your ace who's pitching the game of his life who's been totally dominant. And total rhythm. Walk into the clubhouse and make yourself a sandwich. I mean, my goodness, he Gaff that's so bad, and it's gonna be us legacy. Sadly, Kevin Frandsen, Franny, My good friend sent me a text earlier on In the show. He said Blake Snell through 29 fastballs. In the game. Not one of them was put in place, not one. That should tell you what type of stuff that he had. There's no way you could tell me that anybody anybody on that squad? I don't care if glass now is rested. If Morton could have got, however, that's the guy you want on the Mount. Relievers. Relievers their relievers for a reason. They're not as good as your starters. And if your starters at 105, you could make the argument my relievers better than my starter. Right now. There's no way in hell. Anybody could have made that argument last night. Nobody could have said this guy's better equipped to get this guy out than this guy on the mountain. That's the guy on the mound. We're going down with And then when you get Kevin care, Meier coming out, saying, that's the best I've seen him throw. I had a pretty good seat out there in center field. That was his game. Now you start to lose guys a little bit, because let these guys believe in the Rays way, right? I mean, they they all understand it. They get it. They get it for 1 62. But for that game, I guarantee we're going to go well went away. What are we going to ever? Is there ever a time where we, You know, we switch up because that's that's what makes playoff baseball different. It is different and you have to manage it different and you have to treat it different. Guess what the computer knows. Not that it's playoff baseball just that it's another game. So that's the thing people forget about the computer and I'm ripping the computer. But I like the computer because a computer can help you understand things that are hard to understand, and gives you information. But the computer doesn't understand. That's a playoff game. The computer understands that's just a game and this is how you best get through this game and again over 1 62. It works over one game. It may not work and guess what? It did not work Loser. It is amazing that you haven't a sense now, and he's a true ace. One to sigh Young And you won't let him be an ace. In a situation where you need a guy like that. The pitch like he did. It's an elimination game. It's a world serious elimination game and you won't let him do what he is, You know, in essence as a baseball player, specifically Designed to do But you guys have mentioned. You know what? What does this do for cash going forward in terms of the clubhouse? I think there's a couple of factors at work as far as the players are concerned with the recent history of the Tampa Bay Rays, and how they go about team building the guys they have on the team right now. We might not see a good amount of him in three years because they turn over that roster a lot. But when it comes to Kevin Cash and how he's perceived in that clubhouse, I think roster turnover is going to have something to do with it. But I want to go to different direction. The Rays front office. They don't care. Like I said earlier. What we saw last night is the end result of years of making field managers less like Bruce Bochy Autonomous Baseball lifers who, with the what they've seen with their eyes, and they process that knowledge. And then they use that knowledge, their gut in essence to make Informed And the right decision like Bruce Pokey going Madison Bumgarner out there in 2014 and Madison. Bumgarner is going to be talked about for his long as the Earth is spinning in terms of that performance. If Bruce Bochy were hired by an analytical front office into where they say you don't make your own decisions based on your knowledge, your gut, you make the decisions based off of what the computer has told us and Are our analytical based approach you, Bruce, but she doesn't do what he did in 2014. So my point is where Kevin Cash? Yes. He is ultimately responsible because he's the manager. But I almost take some of the blame off..

And as long as I can remember, Arkansas is looking good for God. No work. That's how you know Arkansas is. Americans might not come in the basement of the SEC West. I mean, it used to be a wow. Not now, because, listen, obviously Mississippi State Mike Leach has his work cut out for him because I watched that game because a A and M K. J. Costello that offense. It's coming home at this point, and I think Mike Leach has run out of people to blame. So he's got to fix that, but that he's going anywhere and it's gonna take a little while for laying train to get on track because because Mississippi Is that where they needed to be? NFC West: Who will unseat the 49ers?

"So glad to be joined by Candace Silva of the rams wire as we go around the NFC west try to figure out who's going to unseat the forty Niners if they can be unseeded at the top of the division cam covers the the rams the rams who apparently are the hot bat right now to win the Superbowl at thirty to one what the hell's going on their camp yeah apparently they were the most popular Super Bowl bet of the last I think there's some were the bachelor come in anywhere on the rams won the Superbowl which is surprising because they've done nothing in the past okay two months to really bolster their claim as a Super Bowl contender in it's been a rough offseason for them so they got a bounce back in to see them as a Super Bowl favorite or not people will favor but to see so many people jumping on the bandwagon for them to win the Superbowl surprising I mean obviously they were just in the Super Bowl now might about a decade ago by our current time frame standards but it was two seasons ago and they still have the same quarterback they still have the same head coach where has it gone wrong we know what happened last year it in fact but if if people are buying in why would you say don't hi this is biggest issue right now I was really surprised that they essentially ignored the the office of identity try to remake it or bring in much talent really on the opposite line this offseason they refinance or what works best it brought back Austin blight who could play guard and center I'm so really they're sticking with the same group that they had last year there's a lot of competition really the only position that sat on the opposite wanted at left tackle with what danger what work right but the other four spots where they're gonna be competitions with Bobby Evans and rob Stein at right tackle Austin Blake and Bryan Alexander in the guard position is kind of just a mishmash of players who are relatively unproven at the NFL level so I would say that's the biggest issue switching Todd Gurley out for can makers they hope is going to be an upgrade at least hopefully in the in the explosiveness department because we do the regular Todd Gurley last season and he kind of seems like he's past his prime with the old me injury in right usage so they hope that with the improved often combined with these guys developing the younger guys and then a a better run game they're going to hopefully get back to their roots from the twenty seventeen twenty seventeen to twenty eighteen season that also supplying plan doesn't seem like a very good one considering that they're in a division with the forty Niners who I don't think I'm being a Homer here by saying that they have a pretty darn good defense of line like that that might not be a good match up for them yeah that's one of the best defensive line principality and you're gonna have it you're gonna have such a us a big mismatch every time that these teams square off because the defense of life for forty third San Francisco so good you got Nick Bosa all the guys on the interior Erik Armstead so there's gonna be tough match ups all across the front when these teams square off twice a year and you're not gonna want to right now in blocking these guys or Bobby Evans are often blight it's it's gonna be a tough match up for all these guys what's M. brings us to the cornerback what what went down with Jared Goff I mean I don't know what it was it all just smoke and mirrors in that Super Bowl season was he figured out I mean there there's been plenty of arguments I've seen a lot of smart people say listen as soon as Matt Patricia showed how to basically not bite on the play action it was game over for the rams they still made the Super Bowl but last year was not great is there any realistic expectation around the rams that they can make it jump now with you know maybe acres and there is the full time running back yeah I I wouldn't say your golf was just smoke and mirrors in twenty eighteen I thought he was a legitimate MVP candidates for most that season and then they kind of have that by the crazy Monday Night Football game against the chiefs and ever since then he's just more grass than not been the same player it was it was he was really terrible on play action last season which was a surprise but again that goes back to the office of line you just didn't have time to to get to a second read he didn't have time to to turn his back to the defense on these armies clashing passes so that a big impact but he's a player who I know they gave them a hundred thirty four million dollars but at this point in his career he doesn't seem like someone who's going to really master the issues of the rest of the offense it's not can overcome terrible off in one place so for him in the rams to really bounce back it's going to take an improvement on the offensive line golf getting back to how he was playing in twenty eighteen and then that running game coming alive and that seems like a lot of that on because it's it's everything coming together as a cohesive unit but I mean with the talent that they do have they still look really good receivers with concocting Robert wood acres and Henderson at running back our promising and golf if he if he lives up to his contracting really pleased the way the FHS quarterback showed the ram should bounce back nicely I like Henderson he came out of Memphis right yep yep he he really was under utilized last year yeah they were kind of well I wouldn't say stubborn sticking with elderly but he just didn't get many opportunities but when he did when he did get some chances he showed his show computer production yeah if you could once against the forty Niners last season to worry bounced off a few tackles and I mean he he's a smaller guy he runs hard and he he he also I'm interested to see how they utilize them with Cammy Kerr's

Kobe on 'The Last Dance' brings out all the emotions

"Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant play game in MJ's last all star game Kobe's first all star game is a nineteen year old the locker room talk was interesting all the background on the agent getting a deal with Nike and the air Jordans the Mars Blackmon Spike Lee commercial that was awesome the whole beginning of be like Mike the Tony crew coach games at the Barcelona Olympics in nineteen ninety two the flash back to Clyde Drexler and the Blazers in the ninety two finals all of that I do you want to talk about at some point because I think there's some really interesting stuff in there also no matter what else errors from this point forward episode five will always be my favorite episode of its documentary and I will explain why it moving forward well what I thought was really poignant about episodes five and six and it really started at the end of episode five but episode six shone a spotlight on the heavy price and the responsibility that come with the type of fame that Michael Jordan had has but really at the height of his basketball career he was as recognizable as any figure on this planet he and the president of the United States and maybe in some cases more recognizable depending upon the age group and yet you can see in nineteen ninety eight through this season that was actually documented with the camera crew the heavy weight of fame the obligations the responsibilities the phrase was be like Mike and yes despite him flashing the pearly whites and the Gatorade commercial and ends the implication that everyone wanted to be like Mike because his life was unlike any other behind closed doors what was he talking about getting away having the followers of his hotel room not having to deal with the obligations of the responsibilities not having to deal with prying eyes and nonstop questions end what else comes with fame edit it doesn't have to be his level of fame it comes with having a public platform anyone and everyone tells you how to live your life I'm not famous not even close but the public figure that I am does yet now Michael Jordan have social media during his time but everyone wanted to tell him how to live his life I experienced that in the beginning when I first started with social media that was the most annoying part everyone giving me advice and telling me what I should do and what I should do when social media is only a snapshot of who I am and most of its because of work people assume they know you because they hear from you or because they see what you put out there on social media but as Michael Jordan said repeatedly over the course of these two episodes on Sunday night nobody knows Michael Jordan you don't spend five minutes with the guy or any guy or gal and know that person you don't know that person because you see him play basketball you don't know that person because you'll spend a few hours with them and what do you say in in in a really I think really powerful moment in which he was tired he was exhausted mentally was worn out physically he said people say they want to be like Mike for a day for a week that's not being like Michael Jordan if you really knew what it was like to be like Michael Jordan you wouldn't want to you wouldn't want this I mean that's coming from the guy who seemingly had it all but yet couldn't get away from the prying eyes and the nonstop questions and everyone weighing in about his life and telling him what to

LeBron James Says No One Wants to Cancel NBA Season

"Hello Brian James tweeted late last week that no one he knows is interested in canceling the season two is kind of pushing back on the reports went together reports and sources of general managers and others out there who say we you know we're moving forward as if the season is over as if we're already in the offseason Steve Kerr said that last week but what a different case scenario for the gold state warriors of course because they have the NBA's worst record lebron thing nobody he knows is pushing for the season to be over everyone that he knows everyone that he's spoken to in the NBA community is anticipating the sports

AP source: MLB players approve deal with teams to preserve service time

"MLB came up with a deal today I saw what it said and I'll be at the Players Association has struck a deal I'm like well wait a minute a new CBA I don't even know we're doing that too but no they struck a deal with regard to what happens during this year and there are some complicated aspects are all some aspects that are down in the weeds there's really only a couple of things that that you need to know I think that owners have set aside one hundred seventy million dollars to allow players to make a pro rated portion of their salary during that time that that that baseball is off and if they don't play at all that's it that that that's the the money they've got Erin and I haven't talked a lot about that stuff because I just don't actually think it's all about relevant at this time while there are people who were drivers in ad dot and servers at restaurants and and we can go on and on and on all the people right now who are simply looking for their next meal their next dollar their their their next ability to pay rent I'm not worried about any Major League Baseball players op maybe some minor league baseball players but Major League Baseball players even the ones who haven't made the big pay days yet I I think you're gonna be five it could be fine especially because you're going to get a pro rated portion of the salary no matter what what is interesting and what was really I think what the players were after in this conversation is whether or not the players would get service time for this year so in other words I are you a free agent at the end of the year if you are scheduled to be a free agent and do you get another year that counts on your arbitration clock if baseball does not play this deal came together quickly it's not time for ridiculous hardline negotiations it seems that baseball players and owners understood that even better than our politicians they got it done very quickly and yes players will get service time this year so for instance and this is kind of fun to think about even though there's no way I've written for there to be no season I certainly certainly wanted to be a season but let's say there isn't Mookie Betts will never be a Dodger even though history will say he was a Dodger stuff like that could happen absolutely especially for the giants with all the one year deals that they have so we'll see but that was the deal that was struck today important for

"Five and six eighty three sports leader what will it show it is Wednesday night I keep saying that because I want everybody to know it's Wednesday night I'm actually so you're for myself it's Wednesday because I have no way of knowing what day it is but I do think it's Wednesday at the it's a day that's going to get it get better here momentarily because we get to talk to Freddie and it's been a while Kevin Frandsen what going on friend what's not to well now you get to feel like what being a baseball player is in the feeling of what you really don't know what day it is Hey do you guys get that yeah all the only time you know it's like usually like a Thursday or Sunday because Thursday and Sundays are usually the days you know for day games at the moment you have that you have like a pretty good idea you're like you know I think it's a Friday I I think it's a Thursday I think it's Sunday you know so and then you have the then you go to Wrigley Field you get thrown off because every games in a day and years like rice yeah but I mean like you travel so much you don't get that that chance so how you been stance yeah we're we're we're like everybody else for hanging in there and just focused on the the gratitude of yours not like this well no I I listen I mean hanging in there like everyone else combine yeah man you know just focused on the gratitude of still being able to work and and having a job that allows allows me to hang with these these little these little children's that are run around the house all day every day you know yeah absolutely I mean I you know we just got back from Florida from spring training and it will just say it's a different world it is a different world where where some take it serious some don't as we saw with a lot of spring breakers but being able like knowing that right now I would not be spending this much time with my daughter and my wife it did it just I don't take for granted a mile I'm not you know you want to you want sports to be gone you want everything to be going you want to be able to call games more than anything but at the same time light okay great my my fallback right now is being able to be with my family all the time yeah I'm in I'm in the office yeah so you're on the plane yesterday it was not like pretty safe what we my wife and I we just like we we travel around with Clorox wipes okay you know we we could have we could have driven we could have you know flown so we do it chose the fly and the reasons why let's say if your drive from Florida back up to New Jersey where we live just outside of Philadelphia and you have I don't know you have a four year old so maybe six seven stops right it's six seven I stopped that you're going in and doing it a bunch of things I mean it could be even more who knows there and you feel like you know when you're when you're taking the chances on going you know from stop to stop depending on where you are I will be in an airport being on a plane a little I I felt safe the you know the the the airlines are still you know continue do their thing Tampa airport was empty I mean I'm talking we had twenty six people on our flight twenty six yeah it's you know everyone's in the same boat everyone's uncomfortable but everyone has the same idea that like look we we gotta get to a you know a certain place it's essential because when you think about that's home home is where we're we were going to and so we had to figure it out and so we did that and we did together all right do you normally travel with Clorox wipes or just now no no no no yeah hi the dude wife so usually you know I usually travel with but now yeah the Clorox wipes loser I have my I would say my wife has always in a backpack okay she always carries a might just random living universe but let's be honest you go on a plane before all this anyways if you don't wipe down your like your your tray table I mean all who'll tell you see there are so dicey but you don't know it until two days later when you get that little tickle in your throat right before you go to that I mean it could be in your throat could be somewhere else who knows I don't know I don't know but you know it's one of those things where look people are gonna eight we're in it we're in a time right now where everyone shaming everyone because you know you're not social distancing you're not doing this you're trying to look at you you're outside it's like there's got to be a little bit of normalcy not where you're going around and gallivanting around the neighborhoods knowledge that but being able to be on a balcony be on a porch in the backyard it's not a bad thing you know in life for us we have like a little spot out in front of us at our condo in in Florida on the beach and we we actually sat there quite often because it was private and there was no one within I don't know fifty yards of us so we just stay right there hi Kevin France in with us on the sports leader as if I need to tell everybody who is who they're listening to right now that you know but you're you're you're probably good to speak on this ball players are such creatures of habit mmhm what do you think that this is doing to everybody as they're trying to get ready for a potential year mark I've I'm gonna be honest I've talked to quite a few of the guys in film for the Phillies and they're you know they're still confused and and a lot of it still is you know guys are self quarantine you know and and and doing the things that they have to do especially in cities that they are trying to figure out where to work out because gyms are closed if you you know for myself I worked out of San Jose state back in the day and so that would be closed you don't have the facilities don't have the means you're trying to figure out you know it I'm I'm I'm gonna say it the it sounds wrong to say it's almost it's almost harder for for single guys to figure this out because they don't have the family let's say to be around you know in in in to do that guys with families you know for the most part being able to go home and be with their kids and and trying to find ways to stay in shape the single geyser who are the it for a lot of them are going to be around people you know and and so you I I've I've talked to a couple of them and they're just like I'm I I have no idea I did wall sits today for like an hour and in the end it wasn't like the guy was even trying to be funny it was just like seriously goes I the moment so I'm I'm doing push ups you you get over it you get to that is there like I did wall sets I did planks for an hour I don't know so these guys are are they were so dialed in right you're getting to the the the second in a week and a half to go of spring training you're dialed in you're ready to go you're ready to you know get things you know the the the fact that everything's right in front of you as far as the season starting all right I I have talked about it a few times and you know not obviously here but yeah there's five guys going for maybe to you too the utility roles and usually in that in that in spring training are you been around long enough you know one guy's gonna usually steal the show four guys are and your let's let's say three guys are gonna crap on themselves one guy might be all right I was usually one of the three guys crap about myself so in this case with the with the Phillies they had five guys going for one spot or two spots whoever knows and they were killing it I mean you have four guys that were legitimately like just it was awesome like the competition but you couldn't ask for anything better and then this happens you're going oh man because now you don't know what's gonna happen there they were all five guys not all guaranteed deals nothing like that all my really caught all minor league deals with the incentive obviously in the big leagues all have been lead time all that stuff which is great but it's like the unknown right you're you're always thinking about the minor leaguers you're thinking about those guys that are in in in limbo I'm going home like in those what however many weeks what what's going to happen you don't know Syndergaard had Tommy John after being you know what the hell happened you know so we have no clue what's going on and and for these guys in their minds I I feel bad for their minds because their minds are having to be shut off right now from the game and you know it that life's going to go on as we all know right and an up there's bigger things in this world but we're on a sports talk show and we're not gonna be able to create a vaccine or create anything I don't know I I knew nothing about the corona virus to to discuss everything so I just go with what I know and I know baseball well and I know that that question when you ask about you know guys of creature of habit it's of anything any any walk of life the guys that are what Wall Street they can't go to Wall Street did do their thing because they you know they go there for a five AM you know and and what are they doing now how are they racking their brains out it just everything in this world has come to a halt in you know in a little ways our minds our eyes were arm wearer Eisen and in in mind that right now they're up finally they're looking at each other or talk in this conversation there's not a lot I don't know Hey just there's some good to be out of this and it's I think people's interactions are starting to get better you know personal interactions are actually getting better well yeah I think there's an awareness one hundred percent what you're just talking about to you made me think of rob Brantly who's one of the guys going to the backup catcher get out of the giants he put out an Instagram the other day and his wife is is basically I mean she almost looks like she's reading a book like picture to people on a balcony of a house they're looking out to the outside and she's sitting there are almost looking like she might have a mai tai or a book or both and she is just sitting right to the left of the big baseball bat and so while she's reading or doing whatever she's doing she's just throwing the ball into the net at rob is standing there in his batting stance and as the ball ricochets off the net he's walking it back into the net and then rinse repeat at I I just I loved it because I was like this is the kind of creativity that that the world is is forcing all of us to find right now yes I know for sure in you you know I'll I mean we're we're obviously seeing in a world where women in in sport is actually you know they they've always been there but that's glaring now rightly you have all the ability in the world and a lot of athletes right now are married to you know former athletes current athletes whatever may be and you're seeing that you're seeing that form you see and you know the wives going out girlfriends going out throwing balls and not just being like you know what everyone's you know just idea of well she's throwing like that must be terrible now I mean Amy Krawiec Crawford Amy Cole was was out though again the other day and you saw that you know she looked incredible as like right yeah a big deal well you're like three and where to go you know I mean like obviously like because at some point in time she's playing softball in in in playing at a high level I think UCLA and everything you see it you're going to now she played she played with her brother because of you know out there there was.

happen you don't know Syndergaard had Tommy John after being you know what the hell happened you know so we have no clue what's going on and and for these guys in their minds I I feel bad for their minds because their minds are having to be shut off right now from the game and you know it that life's going to go on as we all know right and an up there's bigger things in this world but we're on a sports talk show and we're not gonna be able to create a vaccine or create anything I don't know I I nothing about the corona virus to to discuss everything so I just go with what I know and I know baseball well and I know that that question when you ask about you know guys of creature of habit it's of anything any any walk of life the guys that are what Wall Street they can't go to Wall Street did do their thing because they you know they go there for a five AM you know and and what are they doing now how are they racking their brains out it just everything in this world has come to a halt in you know in a little ways our minds our eyes were arm wearer Eisen and in mind that right now they're up finally they're looking each other talking there's conversation there's not a lot I don't know Hey just there's some good to be out of this and it's I think people's interactions are starting to get better you know that personal interactions are actually getting better well yeah I think there's an awareness one hundred percent what you're just talking about too you may we think of rob Brantly who's one of the guys going to the backup catcher gather the giants he put out an Instagram the other day and his wife is is basically I mean she almost looks like she's reading a book like picture to people on the balcony of the house they're looking out to the outside and she's sitting there are almost looking like she might have a mai tai or a book or both and she is just sitting right to the left of the big baseball bat and so while she's reading or doing whatever she's doing she's just throwing the ball into the net at rob is standing there in his batting stance and as the ball ricochets off the net he's walking it back into the bat and then rinse repeat at I I just I loved it because I was like this is the kind of creativity that that the world is is forcing all of us to find right now yes I know for sure in your L. I mean we're we're obviously seeing in a world where women in sport is actually you know they they've always been there but that's glaring now rightly you have all the ability in the world and a lot of athletes right now are married to you know former athletes current athletes whatever may be and you're seeing that you're seeing that form you see and you know the wives going out girlfriends going out throwing balls and not just being like you know what everyone's you know you've just idea of well she's throwing like that must be terrible now I mean Amy Krawiec Crawford Amy Cole was was out though again the other day and you saw that you know she looked incredible as like right no a big deal well you're like in a way to go you know I mean like obviously like because at some point in time she's playing softball in in in playing at a high level I think UCLA and everything you see if you're going for yeah she played she played with her brother because of you know out there was a lot of it over there right so if there's there's a lot of things that are coming out as far as in we're seeing a lot more the family side of this whole thing.

MLB to pay minor leaguers through April 8; salaries TBD

"A lot of people are talking about the business of sports right now and I've sort of made a big deal about it on this show about how I'm not really too worried about professional sports teams and how much money they lose because they are going to be fine but baseball being such a different structure like I look at the minor leagues right now and I wonder how that's all going to play out so what what is baseball doing right now for minor leaguers well they're going to go ahead on the going to supplement their salaries that they would've been paid up until opening day until April eighth and then they're gonna reassess it and potentially go after that are you know on and stretch it out afterwards now baseball America's got a hold of mammal prominent from within that we're seeing that that translates to about four hundred dollars a week which is a heck of a lot better I mean if you if you've seen what goes on with salaries in minor league baseball that probably seems about par for the course it'll you know clubs will be able to individually give more and more and more seeing some of that we've seen on the Detroit Tigers in the Cleveland Indians say that they might do it I I certainly hope others follow suit but that it gives them at least a little bit of something before the season starts so much again on this construction afterwards baseball says are gonna monitor that situation on air it moves out passed out and and look at I can't imagine that it won't then they're gonna go ahead and they'll be evaluated potentially do some more but I'm at least it's something I think that they realize that they needed to do something now especially since yesterday they were you know there was a million dollars per club to assist event staff that would that are basically not being able to work so really the big thing it goes to the people that need it the most I mean you mentioned it you know I'm not really gonna worry about players even or making the league minimum right now at the major league level I'm certainly not gonna worry about the billionaire owners I am worried about the minor league you know players and I would worry about the event staff and at least a little bit of something is going to go there

"Troll on Tuesday lurker Kevin Frandsen with you having a great Tuesday tonight the mid summer classic man as a kid I used to love this game goal race home to watch it and and yet the numbers are down I mean you know numbers are down TV ratings wise all throughout you know the country it's just the way it is so there's a lot less people they're cutting the cord it's her TV ratings had a huge impact the median age though of the all star game viewers fifty six years old nearly two years older than it was in twenty sixteen so that's a two year if two years difference in two years the median age has gone from fifty four to fifty six and so they're saying what are some ideas to get you know younger people watching bait Major League Baseball and yeah we're damages baseball shoes of the baseball more the kids love scoring you can almost see Manford in his in his guys sitting in the room our scientists so say that we do this and whatever but anyway they're the some of the ideas I've heard floated maybe start the game earlier now we hear it's already like if you're interested in seeing the all star game tonight that that bad boy starts at five o'clock you know roughly there is rough maybe a couple minutes after five but five o'clock on the west coast if you got a job in a mortgage and you know obligations it can be kind of tough to pull out of work and get home and sit in front of the two but five o'clock soul but it's eight o'clock in the east and if you started at any later then you've got you know let's say a third of your of your viewing audience could come in the eastern time zone and none of those people are seeing the end of the game and that's maybe not a good thing but that's one of the ideas start the game early what do you think I just don't think there's ever gonna be a right way for anything when it comes the Monday Night Football Sunday night football weather comes through an NBA all star game nothing is ever going to please everyone what's the ideal start time yeah eggs exactly what is known as the I'll tell you this right now if they want higher mid season the Mets the mid season summer classic Saturday's how but this is Saturday bad TV night maybe what is I don't do the numbers on it we do all weekend yeah I don't understand why it's all right that was like one of the things I always could never understand why you don't start the baseball season on a weekend why you don't have the mid season you know summer classic the all star game on a Saturday I just don't get it here how it all right okay all right derby okay I'll go right in that home run derby Saturday game Sunday off NBA all star weekend MLB all star weekend I agree with you I agree with you how about this you have ESPN tied into us have a Sunday night how about a something ideal you go it is Sunday night you already have a built in audience of people that are used to watching a nationwide game on ESPN on Sunday night now you're having the all star game on Sunday night out to the other one that's odd to me the futures game now granted I thought I don't know the ratings are for the futures game and I'm sure guys like me I love the future well this is the first time they were played at seven o'clock at night right they've been playing the futures game up until this year at one o'clock Pacific and I'm watching the giant so much in the final game of the first half and now I'm the guy D. V. R. ng so I would DVR that but how many people are DVR not not very many this is this is your showcase event for your young up and coming stars the future of your game and you're playing it simultaneously against the final game of the regular season all around the country at that one that one baffled me now they moved it from one to four but then they cut it to seven inning because always been always been seventy you sure about that yeah I live right up I played in it you sure about that I thought this year they made a point to stake of no I played in it it was seven eight it was always seven two thousand five landers start of the game your futures games always been seven hi I would I would say no I would say no on that you played in it so you would now I would know look at one of the the look at our listeners text me tell me I'm a jackass for known that all right there we go no but I I mean I I BR I thought the meat of know it all perfect I think they may be no it's always one of my say it's always been my complaint for years is that it's always been seven any and it's always because of pitching they don't they run out of pictures they don't want to not everyone's gonna send their top guys and if they do they want to make sure they stay at one when he got my key according to wikipedia so take this with a grain of salt changes in two thousand nineteen the teams are now American nationally that was a change this year that was the only as far as the world versus another change in two thousand nineteen the regulation game is now seven innings there was always seven innings I remember it being nine maybe wassail that maybe you nine and then back to seven well I don't know I'll say is I've heard I've heard this year is okay this year it's gonna be seven innings so is it possible that was seven for a while the nine now it's back to seven we'll miss possible again I'll take your word if you place the gel played in a game of the top of the seventh inning what year in five in Detroit look it up look it up I'm Adam loan pitcher base load of bull Gravano played by the late seven there's no shortage of minor leaguers seven seven right there's no shortage right why couldn't she just have five more guys I could you make a bigger roster to me I don't personal when you're playing seven innings doesn't that scream out loud when we think our game is too long and too boring and so going to shorten it now I just to remind you we don't you'll see that in the NFL you don't put the probable should not be played okay because I'm concerned but you don't see them say Hey we're gonna play a half but the minor leagues have one thing that is way ahead of the big leagues and that's the the double header is seven innings in each game which is phenomenal both those games fly seven any I didn't even know I remember double headers are seven innings long and it is amazing that's the one thing I always falls about development so that makes sense right it's about development more news about development more than winning I'm just being honest is it about development these days I think so I mean it will kind of roll like that would tell you yes right what what's your point on you don't think it's about development you think they're actually trying to win in the minor leagues I just don't know they're developing in certain in certain areas sisters your pictures are worse I feel like they throw harder but they have no control but I mean I think ultimately the priority is not like the best minor league system is not necessarily the best record it's maybe the one that has the best talent in it so I mean there's that way to look at it anyway there the other I idea they're saying maybe shorten the game the all star game to seven innings when I think of that I don't I I to me it's just a loud statement that your game is too slow and too long and why would you want to I'd rather see I'd rather come up with ways to make the game more exciting than to shorten it to seven innings I don't like the idea of showing it just as you guys know Kevin's right seven in ninety two thousand five it was a seven inning game but like I look at the scores of all the games I saw twenty twelve it was seventeen to five like wow that's a lot of runs for seven game as nine inning game at Kauffman stadium so you must change it after like like Larry suggested I think it went from seven to nine now its eyes it out complete I'm I'm sorry we it's alright months it's you're gonna make it we were only here to once everything's gonna be okay yeah but what do you think of this one they're saying they're saying that maybe one thing to do two thousand eight is the first nine inning that was a it was let's see several San Francisco eight first futures game was nineteen ninety nine at Fenway Park and there was a story on a two homers two homers for Soriano but what do you think of the idea of ending the ID ending the the rule that says that every team has to be represented I always felt like you know Gerry Gerry nice to go back on this one a lot because he was like Hey look you know you want to have somebody that you can in every local market that you can point to and say that's our guy and as a little kid I totally got that because I want to see Greg meant not one to see Gary Lavelle I want to see you know and I was tuning in some of those years to see my guy but then when the expanded it there's more teams in the league and you've got you know the pirate sending you know Kevin qureia and Mike Williams and you know the guys that you know that really are not all star I I I think I've moved beyond that to the point where give me the best players in the league and if there happens to be seven red Sox and no will raise so be it I I do I just like the tradition I don't know of one brand what yeah one rep and and you know what if if you're on the cusp and you don't make it I mean that's been part of the deal late they if you're sure fire big like all star you're usually in the game your find a way to be in the game right I mean mean mean find a way to play in the game are you just you're gonna be on the roster right so I I I feel like I don't know how I I just I'm not a fan of the NBA all star game this is the only all star game that actually guys play because you don't go in there trying to embarrass yourself you want to give you don't wanna get punched out in three pitches what what this when they're talking about use the.
