"One pick swap. I want to understand that when you say this is a call directly between the nets and the suns, who is on the call here, how does this actually work in real terms? In this case, Pablo, the owner Joe Tsai, called Matt ishbia. Who had not actually transferred the money for the team, the team on that Monday was approved for the sale. The other 30 teams voted and he got 29th yeses and one abstention, which was his mortal enemy in the mortgage business and Detroit. Business rival. Dan Gilbert from the Cleveland Cavs who abstained. But essentially on that Monday, it was known that he was going to get the team. So that having happened the same day as during its trade demand, Nat gets a call from Joe on his cell phone and he says, hey, I know you've got the team for about 15 minutes here, but would you be interested in trading for Kevin Durant? And that HP has said you're damn right, I'm interested in trading with Kevin Durant. And so from there, what does the next step look like? Because it's also, I assume, at some point, like the GMs, the front offices of these teams get involved, and at some point, the sticker shock must set in, right? Right. So Sean marks the general manager of the nets and James Jones, the president of the sun's due the negotiation and the ass comes, and it's like, look, for first round picks, no negotiation. Pick swap, no negotiation. Mikael bridges and cam Johnson, no negotiation. So James Jones having been around the NBA for two decades. Tries to negotiate. And spends a couple of days going back and forth with Sean marks about trying to move him off, trying to get maybe one last draft pick. Really trying Pablo not to trade Mikhail bridges because the suns felt like that was the untouchable piece. That they would love to have bridges to be part of this newly formed team to be a core member. They just didn't want to give them up. So over the ensuing two days, the negotiations started to play out, HBO transfers $2.28 billion for 57% of the sun's buying out Robert sarver and some of his partners. That money transfers on Tuesday. Wednesday morning, he gets up in Detroit with his family they board a private jet, fly to Phoenix, he goes in and meets his new employees. The full owner because the money's transferred, everything's been signed. He's got the keys, so to speak, to the franchise, he goes and says, hey, it's great to see all of you. We're going to do big things. You have no idea how big we're going to do big things and has one of those typical press conferences where he's I'm going to bring a championship to the valley and then he goes out and does something that could absolutely bring a championship to the valley. He left the press conference study that he did and went to the sun's practice facility and he sat with James Jones and they were less than 24 hours in the trade deadline, and they were really drilling down on this Durant trade. And they went over a whole bunch of things, including, you know, the sun's front office guys saying, hey, you know, we love Kevin Durant. We'd like to do this deal, but we just want to take a deep breath here and realize that we don't have to do it right now. We can do it later. We can do another deal. We want you to be comfortable. We don't want you to do all this on your first day. Yeah, learn where the bathrooms are first, and then maybe, yeah, make a transaction that's going to cost what in terms of additional luxury tax. Almost $40 million between 30 and 40 million, depending on how you do it. And the sun's as an organization and only paid $14 million in the previous 20 years. Total $14 million total. The exact opposite in terms of mindset in terms of spending, then yes. This new guy seems to be. But HPR really wants to rant. And one of the things that he is he's saying to himself as much as he's saying to the sun's front office guys is like, look, I know that this is crazy on my first day, but I could be the owner here for 20 years and it never get a chance to trade for a top 5 player like this. It just so happens that the opportunity is coming on the first day. It doesn't mean it's an opportunity that should be passed by. And so they call the nuts and say, okay, we're meeting your demands, and the nets say, great. Now tossed in Jay Crowder and the deal is done. And the sun say wow, wow, wow, wow, wow. What are you talking about? We have another deal for Jay Crowder. Yeah, we agreed to not negotiate. I thought that was the deal. Right. We're gonna trade Jay Crowder to the Milwaukee Bucks. We've been talking to him about it for months. We finally gonna have a deal. It's gonna get 5 second round picks for him. And we're gonna do a separate deal. We need those draft picks to help build out our team because we're trading everything else. No negotiation. Jay Crowder or no deal. So break down and talks. One of those classic walk away from the table, I don't know if anybody hung up in anger, but it wasn't a good place. And the trade was off. And meanwhile, Matt and Justin HP are expected at this celebratory dinner at this hotel, this beautiful hotel in Scottsdale. It's Super Bowl week. It's everybody's in town. He's got a whole bunch of people to celebrate because Pablo, he just bought an NBA team. That day. He just, you know, over 2 billion dollars on something. He wanted to, yeah, maybe toast to it. Yeah, so James Jones says, okay, we're gonna make a different deal. We're gonna trade for John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks, who is a high quality player. He's not Kevin Durant, but certainly. Sure. Right. Certainly an electrifying athlete certainly would have been a major trade to upgrade the sons ahead of

"So Brian windhorst, the NBA that is starting back up on Thursday. Is a very different NBA. And the one we remember just a few weeks ago because of the trade deadline and I bring you here not just because we always love having you, but also because you tend to be a guy who knows things who, as we saw this past summer, feels the tremors in the ground that sometimes become memes. Did you foresee the degree of change that the trade deadline brought? No, because I thought that the nets would probably try to hold it together because they had such a really good end of November and December. Yeah. I thought they would give it one last run and they had gone through so much drama Pablo to hold that roster together over the summer and they pulled the ripcord. They simply reached the point where they couldn't take any more and within a couple of days broke down something that they had spent years building up. We see this happen in pro sports, but it is kind of a melancholy thing, even if it creates a frenzy because it represents the failure of a long-term project. And a failure in this case that seems to be avoidable, but certainly helped reshape the league in the middle of the season. Yeah, I mean, one rip cord is pulled, a parachute is released, and it alights upon Phoenix, which says what to you about where this is all headed now. Well, it was a fascinating moment in Phoenix because I don't think in the 76 year history of the NBA we've ever seen something happen. Like an owner buying a team and then the same day making the biggest transaction in the history of the team. It was wild. And you hear about new owners being reactionary and over aggressive and making the assumptions that they can come in and just change everything. And I'm sure that Matt ishbi heard all those things. I'm sure that he took counsel from people who said, be careful with how much you change in the first couple of months or the first year. And he looked at that and said, hold my beer because I'm about to do the wildest move, a new owner is done within 12 hours, transferring my $1 billion. The NBA is a study in chain reactions. Many of which we have chronicled on this podcast. Like the fact that in November of 2021, our colleague Baxter homes published a bombshell investigation into the broken workplace culture of Robert sarver's Phoenix Suns. And here we are now, 15 months later, and those same sons have a new billionaire owner, and that dude, just went out and apparently gave the Brooklyn Nets whatever they wanted for Kevin Durant. So today, we asked Brad win horse to take us behind the scenes in Brooklyn and Phoenix, as those dominoes very quickly started falling. And how that power dynamic also helps explain why Russell Westbrook is staying in Los Angeles. I Pablo Torre, it's Wednesday, February 22nd. And this is ESPN daily. So Brian, you mentioned the name Matt ishbi and met ishbi the new owner of the Phoenix Suns who replaced Robert sarver, the man who acquired in his first act, Kevin Durant, take me inside how this happened introduced me to this man that is suddenly reshaping the NBA. Yeah, so he is young by a billionaire standards Pablo. He's in his early 40s. Basketball junkie was a walk on at Michigan state when the Spartans won the national championship in the year 2000. And over the last 20 years has built a mortgage empire. United wholesale mortgage, which is based near Detroit and became an overnight billionaire. And really ever since then has been desperate to buy a pro sports team. Tried to buy the Denver Broncos. Billions of dollars were burning a hole in his pocket. And he finally found a taker when Robert sarver put the team up for sale. And went through the process and couldn't get his hands on the team fast enough. Yeah, I do love first off that there was like a Brewster's billions aspect to this. He had to spend the billion somehow. He ended up spending it on the suns and I do also like that this is a guy who made his fortune in mortgages because he has mortgaged the future of this team for the present, it feels like or is it? How you see this because how does a deal for Kevin Durant of the scope of the size get brokered because we just don't see stuff like this happen very often. Right, well this was a closed negotiation. Kevin Durant went to the nets on Monday of trade deadline week and said I'd like to betray and I'd like only to be traded to the Phoenix Suns. So there wasn't a bidding war and I think that Phoenix's front office was aware of this and wanted to be judicious in how they handled the negotiation. The nets, meanwhile, they still had some measure of leverage Pablo because Durant has three years left on his contract. And so, right. If they couldn't find a trade, you know, Kevin would have to report back to the team and continue the season, and so they basically did what they did last summer. Which was ask for an outrageous trade package and say they weren't going to negotiate. Right, the other bidder in the process in other words was just the status quo, which is just fine in terms of making a playoff run as it looked like this team with Kevin Durant was going to do. Right, and it was also the status quo for Phoenix. That was the other side of it for them, and they've had a bit of a disappointing season at this point, largely due to injuries. And so they asked for a preposterous, you know, price point, to be honest with you, for a player who's in his mid 30s. And frankly was injured at the time. And remains so. But we'll get to that, yeah. Yeah. These are the kind of talks that went nowhere last summer, teams would call the nets and the nets would say I want your two or three best young players all the draft picks you can trade me and I'm not going to negotiate. And so last summer, Durant hung out there on the market because nobody was willing to do this, Pablo, they were like, you're not trying to trade them. You're not taking a stance that gives us a place to find a deal. And so talks went nowhere. And so the nets did the exact same thing. Only this time they were the ones who made the

Everybody else not a first ballot Hall of Famer. Gets a silver jacket. I said, all right. I like it. But then people said, you know, you're not being sensitive. How would you feel if you got a silver Jack and I go? Be a first pound Hall of Famer. That's all, you're not, so you don't get one. Eric and Florida joins us. Hi, Eric, what's on your mind?

"That certainly at the very least ratchets up the pressure to get something done. I thought it was interesting, Howard, at the bottom of that story in the athletic, was just a simple paragraph that says Durant has grown close with Boston coach email DOCA in recent years. It's kind of out of nowhere in this story after you don't spend a year with Durant as assistant in Brooklyn and later with Team USA for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. I don't know if you made anything of that. I thought it was interesting because Boston is among the teams that is made an offer for Kevin Durant. Now you have a note at the bottom of the story, relaying that Kevin Durant as a good relationship with emea DOCA. That I made note of that hour. That to me wasn't a throwaway paragraph. No, probably not. There are no throwaway lines in sports media in 2022. Everything it probably means something, everything was, you know, whispered for a purpose. I mean, is that a direct line to, hey, would he really wants us to trade to the Celtics? I mean, the Celtics weren't on his reported list. They're the top of his list was supposed to be Phoenix and Miami. It has that list expanded. We haven't heard that. Maybe it's maybe that's what that's about, or maybe it's just that he would have liked to have seen eme O DOCA supplant Steve Nash in Brooklyn and it's just part of the overall grievance with the organization. Yeah, maybe. I read it as trade me to Boston. That's kind of how I read it. And look, I had one executive who's not involved in the Durant sweepstakes. Do you say to me, if the nets don't have the stomach to bring him to training camp, they should find a way to do a deal with Boston because they're not going to get a better player in a deal than jaylen Brown. Jaylen Brown all star 25 years old still improving as a player has a chance to be a multi time all star in this league. I know they want Marcus smart and whatever other pounds of flesh they want to take from the south, but boss is not Boston wasn't giving up a lot before they certainly aren't giving up a lot now, not in the wake of this report. So I think when you say things haven't changed, where I agree with you is that we're not going to see the nets turn around tomorrow and make a deal. It's just not going to happen. They're going to play this thing out into late August into early September and probably reevaluate where they are once they get to that point. But if the offers don't improve, if there isn't a pathway to get, say, Donovan Mitchell or somebody like that, bam adebayo or somebody like that. A Boston deal makes the most sense. The selfish will give you draft picks. They'll give you jaylen Brown. It's not the Anthony Davis deal that the nets are clearly hoping to get, but it might be the best deal out there for them.

"As soon as you can, Bobby, any final thoughts, here as we move on. I guess really, it's the number one thing is how far down the road are they with Jalen and the first thing I tweeted when I saw this was this, you know, you can't, you know, you can't put the Genie back in the bottle, you know? Like if this is real and it's out there and your intentions are legit and you're trying to get Kevin Durant and Jalen's been dangled and he knows it. That's not great.

"And I think the outcome would be multiple legit shots at a championship with Durant, at least two. And if you win one or you win two, it's a smashing success. If he gets hurt or declines a little bit, it's a massive failure, but it doesn't make it the wrong move. It's about the value here, right? So I'm looking at and saying, what's good value for Duran? You know, I don't care about picks, so I'm putting the pics on the table. Smart, I think everybody's giving up smart for Durant. And brown's a tough pill to swallow, but that's what gives you the edge over everybody else. So it's Brown, smart, picks, I'm doing it. If it's Brown, smart, rob, that's probably too much. I'm just looking at like hedging the value of what's going to significantly improve your championship. Chance here, because again, we kick this around last week, John. I love the season they just had. It was one of the most exciting Celtic seasons ever, and I can always take value in that. But man, the way the finals, I just watched the finals again the other day. That was tough. The way it ended, how falling short there, the uncertainty of whether or not you're going to get back, they had a really good chance saying, if you had to rant, closing game four, you're probably hanging a banner this fall. You know? Yeah, maybe and again, it's hard to say exactly how that goes. I do question again from a style perspective. You know, one of whether something you want to watch and two, whether it's something that's effective here, I think this is a team where you want to see more ball movement. I think you're less likely to get that with another ball dominant player like Kevin Durant. And so I think that affects you. And again, we have to be honest here. Malcolm Brogdon also likes to have the ball in his hands a lot, and I'm not saying he's going to be the impediment to what Kevin Durant trade, but he's a guy who dribbles a lot, takes it to the whole, creates his shots. So now you're going to start to get a lot of that. If you bring in a Durant and I don't love, I don't love the fit with him and Tatum. It's two guys that do the same thing.

"So naturally, you call and you check and the conversation starts with Durant and the conversation might move to, like I said, I get from a business perspective why you might consider doing that. But it doesn't mean a hard offer was made. It doesn't mean it's anything more than chatter. It doesn't mean it's even necessarily real. It doesn't. The way they're appointed is that the Celtics offered bran. So unless the nets are just like a erroneously thrown that out there, they hype up interests and who knows they could be marks isn't a bad place right now. If this goes wrong for him, his career isn't executives over. So he has to do something extreme like that to try to drum up interest to do whatever he can to get out of this good and setting a new price like this of brown smart and the picks is the best way to do that. Because his first attempt at towns I keep calling him Bennett. Edwards and pecks was so ridiculous that everyone's like, all right, yeah, we're gonna give you that. This seems a little more believable here. But again, if they just picked up the phone and we're tossing around names and doing what GMs do, and he turned that into the Celtics offered Brown, man. Everybody does that all the time. You know? To this degree? Yeah, I think it's pretty common. Because you're trying to show that they're in it. And they're real. But they'd have to be in an array of to say that. So again, I think the Celtics have legitimate interest in this. So I hope couldn't you. I mean, Durant Tatum, that is a one, two punch that would just be epic. And I hate that. I hate it. And the last thing I want is Durant and Tatum's ear. I hate it. I don't know. You don't want a guy flanking Tatum with a little edge. We always complain that Tatum doesn't stand up to guys. If you want to watch a fine one, Kate, like, look, your typical Boston fan or anybody out of market. This is my strictly emotional case against Kevin Durant. You know, you guys don't like Kevin Durant. I've said this on a show before. Like, you made fun of him for going to Golden State and taking the easy way out. You trashed the super team when he went over there with Kyrie. You got mad that they conspired and broke up what the Celtics were trying to go with here. He's a diva. He's got thin skin. He's always on social media. You know, anytime anybody criticizes him, he's frigging sparring with the owner of this company. We don't like him. You don't like him. You don't want a roof for him. You want to root again in 2016 when they sent for 80 and Isaiah. I get it. You hadn't gotten anything. You haven't gotten people to come here. Not at this level. They might have played in college or whatever it is. But I ain't seen one of those guys yet. You know, in the league. You could shoot with layups and all you did was this and you did that. I was in the league. I made history in this league. "To, you know, the best offer that could be on the table. I'm looking at the potential candidates. You know, Memphis could probably make a pretty good offer, but Memphis is not gonna throw jaren Jackson or John morant into that deal. And even if it was Jackson Jackson gets hurt a lot to what he's heard now, he's gonna be on foreseen. He's out with a foot injury. And look, Desmond baines a nice player, but that's not a Jalen Brown level guy. Golden State, we've already ruled out Dallas doesn't have anybody. Utah, like, you know, he's not going to Utah. Denver, Denver, I guess maybe if they wanted to throw Porter junior and a whole bunch of guys into that mix, but I don't see that either. Minnesota, no New Orleans. No. Let's stop on New Orleans for a second. All right. New Orleans? All right, now I have all kinds of concerns about Zion. And if I'm David Griffin and the pelicans, I'd be really, really nervous about giving Zion this max extension. If I'm any team acquiring Zion anytime soon, I'm really, really concerned about him and his health and his longevity. But he is a still very young and incredibly talented and explosive player who if he stays healthy can change your team single handedly, right? You have to at least like, I don't know whether Kevin Durant's willing to go to New Orleans, but they have Zion. They have Brandon Ingram. They have CJ McCollum. They have a bunch of really good young interesting players. They have a bunch of the Lakers picks and swaps still from the Anthony Davis trade. That is a time. Who's the player going out? Who's the player going out though? You mentioned all the guys they have down there. Who's going out in a Durant trade? You're starting with Zion. You're asking for Zion first. Oh, I do. We're not deep into hypothetical territory. But yeah, I do Zion for the nets. Well, listen to the table. I just don't see why Durant would want to go if that's because CJ McCollum plus Brandon Ingram plus Kevin Durant plus other role players is a pretty good team. And for Jones much as anyone, but I'm not sure that all right, but listen, the nets are for the next side of it. Certainly you're getting a young potential superstar. I want to say potential and not actual because Zion, he hasn't finished a season yet. So I don't want to assume too much, but we know what the talent level is. If you can get Zion and all of the Lakers picks that the pelicans still own, that's a pretty good starting point, and you're probably going to get and you're going to get several of the other players as well. Maybe a herb Jones may be some of the other young guys. You're looking at it though from and look, I get what you're looking at it from. But from the net's perspective, why would the pelicans do that?.

"Beginning what they may have the best player that could be thrown into a deal for Kevin Durant. Not the best player other teams have. Like Phoenix has Devin Booker, but you're not getting him. Dallas has Luka Dončić. You're not getting the number one player on all these teams. The number two player though is going to be available. I think jaylen Brown is as good as it gets in that mix. I love this for so many reasons. One of which is, as you mentioned, Boston was a team that got a meeting with Kevin Durant in the Hamptons back in 2016 when the warriors ultimately landed him. And I think there was even some chatter at the time that if he hadn't picked the warriors it would have been the Celtics. If I recall, I don't know, I don't know if that's true. I remember that being the meeting that Tom Brady popped into or something and Isaiah Thomas was on that team. Look, they were an interesting team. Brad Stevens at that point was starting to really separate himself as an NBA coach and they had a successful season before. So look, at the very least, they were in the mix. Well, for Kevin Durant. Back then, and there are better team now. I love, first of all, I also love the idea of almost the reverse of the pierce Garnett deal where the aging star is now going the other direction. Correct. Probably with more left in the tank than Pearson Garnett had, probably. On the other hand, the Celtics are the that's then get jaylen Brown, the guy that the Celtics picked with one of the picks that the nets set them in the piercing garnette deal. So there's a nice little coming home. There's a nice little poetic twist there where they get jaylen Brown a guy that they could have drafted themselves if they hadn't made that ill fated Garnett pierce deal. Listen, I get it. Fans get invested in their guys, especially when your team just made the finals. You don't want to see a core player.

"This team is a 7 seed for a reason. And going into the series, there was a lot of a lot of respect for Kevin Durant, of course. But he's going up against the best defense in the league, a defense that is basically constructed to there's never been a defense that could successfully shut him down. But as good of a defense as he's ever faced in his life, Tatum is the best player in the series easily and just dominating the one on one matchup guarding Durant. As the primary defender in every game. So in terms of his legacy, this will be if they do lose the recording this on a Monday afternoon. If the nets do lose if they're swept, this will be the second first round series to ran has ever lost. He's a great, great, great, great player. I don't think this impacts too much of how we should view him. I think that how the nets have been coached, how the nets have been constructed, their decisions as an organization are much more emblematic of their struggles in this series. And so that's where I'll leave that. I think the way that Doran has been defended has been magnificent and sure, he could hit more shots, but there's a lot of issues going on in Brooklyn. Yeah, so first of all, I'm with you. I think his legacy is, I think his legacy is he's the best scorer ever. And I think he's undeniably like a top ten talent ever. I think kind of where the resume or accomplishments ultimately end up might be a little bit up for debate. I think if we want to go there, I think in a vacuum, most of us would say he's a better player than Steph Curry, but I think Steph is going to finish his career and rightfully so as the more accomplished player..

Just shocked shocked shocked that they weren't involving him in the offensive actions. If you're the bucks explain to me tell me by curtain it was so clear to me as a novice. I never played the nba. Never coached never played college. I'm watching the game. Like why don't they just attack. James harden can't move. Why didn't they do that. That was a mistake. There's no it's houston. I can make for your family like you have to find a way to challenge james harden and not allow him to basically be out there and you really never go at them and the stat stands out to me. The most emotionally and psychologically is that james harden returned and play more minutes than yawns forty six minutes dot forty six seasons for her play minutes then jaanus so if you're watching the nfl game and elite wide receiver. The andrei hawkins are is playing against the rams and having a great game and movement of all around the field. But either way i believe he will return to play most of the next round. Yes it is important to know that there are certain like a contact tracing investigation can last couple of days and then free him up to play or he could have tested. Positive have symptoms in which he would be gone for a couple of weeks. If not more we do not know right now. However those are two major impactful stories for the western conference but jalen we finally get to talk about what kevin durant did. Last night in brooklyn in game five a pivotal game in the series kevin durant played every single second of the game and scored forty nine points had seventeen rebounds and ten assists a dynamic historic performance from durant. What do you have any reaction to this performance. It wasn't because pj tucker had zero points in a game because when he did well against k. d. he has zero points in previous game except his plus minus was eleven and for those intimately involved in the league. We knew that this is going to be an opportunity for the easy money sniper to respond. James harden was hobbled. Kyri irvine was out. They were going back home. And that stat. Line of forty.

Don't want to let that drop. I did a bunch of reading as prep to rate the piece that i did last week. Joe alluded to earlier. But there was one thing i missed that. A guy named michael right flagged on twitter and that thing is both nuts on its own but also in my view extremely telling and it begins in june two thousand and three that is when a baylor basketball player named patrick denny. He went missing. A lot of folks are probably familiar with us. This is the reason that when people say well look at what the baylor basketball program came back from. This is what it came back from So in june. Two thousand and three patrick and he goes missing in july. His body was found in a gravel pit near waco texas an autopsy determined. The dentist had been shot and killed in the man who did it. It turned out was one of his teammates. Carlton dotson two years later in two thousand and five dotson pleaded guilty to the murder and he's been in prison in texas ever since but let's rewind to two thousand and three so unrelated to the murder. Then baylor coach. Dave bliss had been paying denki under the table. This was a major violation in bliss. Did not want dicky's killing to expose it and so as dana wrote in a piece on. Espn dot com. Bliss told his assistant coaches. He wanted to float the story that he was a drug dealer thereby explaining away. The money bliss had given him one of those assistant coaches that bliss was talking to was a man named abar rouse resident hired at baylor just weeks before he went missing. When rows told bless he wasn't comfortable with the plan to smear dennehy as a drug dealer as ross's a normal human being with some form of a moral compass. Bliss reportedly put a copy of rouse's contract highlighting the portion that showed he could hire and fire assistant. Coach is in front of rows. And so the implication is very clear right like do this or else in so baruch's did something that in my view quite sensible. He recorded dave less and on that recording. Bliss says reasonable doubt is. There's nobody right. Now that can say we paid pat dennehy because he's dead so what we need to do is create reasonable. Doubt rouse gave that tape to the ncaa resigned and that tape-recording ended up killing ibar roses career. Roses story is told that length in the two thousand seventeen documentary disgraced at aired on showtime the short version is the rouse. Never got a d. one coaching job again. As of two thousand seventeen he had found work consistent work teaching and he was teaching in a prison in fort worth texas. So why did they borrow skip blacklisted. Because in the world of college basketball rouse was not a hero for exposing dave bliss rather he was considered a villain for tape-recording coach in two thousand and three episode of espn's outside the lines. Three of the most famous and influential coaches in the game. All said that what a don was absolutely wrong does three jim boeheim kelvin sampson and the man of the hour. Mike shefty and here is the clip of what coach k. Said on outside the lines in two thousand three. How could you ever build a team of coaches. Forget about justice situation but if one of my sisters with tape every one of our conversations with me not knowing it. There's no way he would be on my staff even as a theoretical exercise. It's hard to think of something. That's so clearly illustrates the skewed priorities and moral bankruptcy of big time college. Coaching a normal person. I think would consider a hero or at the very minimum. What understand why he did what he did and realized that he was in the right. Then i guess the next category over it would be someone who believes that rouse had broken some kind of moral coaching code. But maybe what understand that. It's probably not wise or good to say that publicly. Like maybe keep that to yourself if you feel that way. And then there's the category that these coaches and make among them fall into which has publicly as leading figures in the sport coming out and saying that roused had broken code and essentially issuing a warning to others in the profession that they should look at what happened to us. I imagined this study isn't taught at duke. University's fuqua coach k. Center on leadership ethics. Nor do i think that there is an abar rouse center on leadership and ethics but perhaps in both cases we should address that yeah gives us some insight into how these institutions routinely cover up abuses and other terrible practices like joe. Paterno penn state michigan state. You know every other kind of disgusting scandal. We see that sort of attitude prevails within these institutions in these big programs that it's much more important to them to preserve themselves than to like. We might consider to be moral. So yeah. I took. As i think you will note and listeners. Were note like pretty great pains to try to be fair and our segment and give praise him when it's warranted and give credit where do but like this is just so unbelievable to me that it does. I think legitimately raise questions about what kind of person would would do this. And i'm not trying to say he's the coach k.'s. Evil or anything like this. But by my god stephan yeah. It seems like that was a pretty clear cut case where you had an opportunity to just say what happened was despicable in horrible and and as a coach. It saddens me. Instead of having to weigh in on the the ethics of taping. Goodbye coach k. That is our show for today..
