Here with today's edition of knowing the truth, is faster Kevin bowling. Hey, welcome to this edition of the knowing this year's radio program, this is Caster Kevin Bowen, so glad that you joined us on the broadcast today. We started our discussion yesterday on the broadcast into the text of scripture that we've been looking at and axe chapter two. And an ex chapter two, we've been looking at the sermon that was preached by the apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost, and we saw in that particular passage of scripture, the first look that I took at it was a look at looking at the sermon itself and so looking at the sermon itself, we had begun to analyze what was there in this sermon that was preached by Peter and that particular day. And what we found in that sermon was that Peter had made a number of comments and so forth. It gave us a little bit of what the character of a New Testament Pentecostal preaching should be like. We also noticed that in that passage that not just the character was given to us, but we could see something about what the content of Pentecostal preaching should be like. When I say Pentecostal preaching, I mean, this is what the preaching was like on the day of Pentecost. This is what's spirit filled spirit and powered preaching should be like. And we saw the character of it with things like an ought to be scriptural preaching, Peter, referred to the scriptures as he was preaching and then the content of it. One of the things that we noted was that the content is extremely Christ centered at Peter mentioned Christ at the beginning of the preaching Peter mentioned Christ in the middle and at the end of the preaching. It was constantly being Christ was constantly being referred to in the preaching of Peter. And then in the conclusion of the preaching that we saw there, we saw that the conclusion was that Peter was preaching for a verdict. He wasn't just trying to give a speech in which people were then walk away and say, wow, what a great presentation. What a great speaker, what a great order. These types of things. No, what he was looking to do was to drive the people that he was preaching to to the point where they would see that they had to make a decision about the lord Jesus Christ. You know, the old hem said this, what were you doing with Jesus? Neutral, you can not be.

"Is here in studio guest, Kevin Bowen. From 1075, the fan covering the Colts does the morning show for the fans. Was there any amount of lipstick we could put on this pig of again? Okay be I mean, look, I I said like, Like the first drive. The Colts had their down towards the end zone wound up with a field goal. But look whence. Did, um, you know, he's had little to no practice, No preseason. I mean, let's give us such sort of with some positives from that lost to the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. Well, no injuries. Um, so I think that is a positive. Nobody played hard enough to get hurt Can and that's what happened. Nobody played hard enough to get hurt. That's certainly 11 way to put it. Hammer. Um And that's it. Honestly, you're not everybody. Yeah. How many areas the show guys? Um, But do you feel like the defense did anything in the second half a little bit here and there, you know, back a little bit like how much of your guys audience will understand this but always compare like when the defense gives up 21 points in the first half. It's like a golfer that shoots 50 on the front nine and it comes back and shoots of 38 on the back. Yeah, the pressure's off, and you had three beers at the turn. Like I would hope. The only way you could go was up like you gave up. 21 points in one half of football. I get Russell Wilson's a great quarterback. He's played 100 45 games in his career. Yesterday was the second best pass right in his career. Wow, second back and wait for 10 years like it's not like he's you know, been late for two or three years and had a career day. So when we talk about the standard for this defense, bringing back so many guys, Yes, they were better than the third quarter, Nigel. But at that point, and the game was all but over, and there's some money spent on that defensive side and from what I saw yesterday, The quote unquote stars did not play like it. You know if you're going to tell me that the defense gave up 21 points in the first half all that I'd say Oh, boy, how bad is rocky Scene? I thought rocket scene was pretty good filling in for savior Roads like he didn't hear his name and his defense like literally If you ask the defensive coordinator Matt Ebert flues, What is your core belief of your defense? He'll want to branded on his forehead. We don't give up big place and there it is a 2nd and 20 with 50 seconds to go in the first half, and you're giving up a glorified Hail Mary. Like that was the that was the turning point of the game. Still close games in the first half That play happens. Boom back on the offensive side didn't seem like once was on the ground An awful lot to you, boy. I haven't seen a quarterback Colts quarterback at her hit that much that violently since probably Jacoby. Yeah, man. You got smacked again. 17 the stars at you know, you give Ryan Kelly a deal. Quinton Nelson, your big stud, Mr All NFL. Those guys were terrible yesterday, and Smith, who just signed the big extension a few weeks back. Act as well. I mean to your earlier question, Nigel about whence. I mean, if I'm going to give a grade two wins, I'm probably giving them a B minus like I didn't think again. He was a worry coming to the game for me, and he didn't prove to be much of a worry. Um, you brought him here, letting him know we're going to take more off your plate. We're going to provide more support, and you gave him none of that. Yesterday. The offensive line was abysmal. And the run game was really not existing as well. We have to tackle Eric Fisher is that Is there an update on that? That guy? You know, practice limited all three days last week? I thought he would need two weeks ago. So you know, seemingly. And if you watch the Rams last night, your week to opponent Boy, you can really use them. So if anyone has an Achilles to donate around the city of Indianapolis, your head over the last 56 you thought that past rush was a little intimidating yesterday. Now you've got Aaron Donald's company coming to town. Um, can we talk a little bit about the play calling and again? I don't know exactly where this comes from. If it's the coordinator or if this is Frank Reich, but it feels like time and time again. The Colts always leave points on the field. I feel like that's one of the reasons they lost that playoff game and buffalo and they left a lot of points on the field yesterday. Yeah, I got a couple of thoughts on that first. Um I was I was a fan of going forward on the fourth and to a 10 minutes ago in the game. You're down 11 at that point. Your previous five drives had combined for one first down, AK. You weren't moving the football. You had to score a touchdown. At some point Like you're down 11. You have to score touchdown of fourth and two from the 20 yard line. I might as well go for. You have to get 1/4 and at some point, But isn't it a two possession game? Here are the devil's advocate. If it's two possession game anyway, why not kick the field goal? But you said that's for touch on some point, like, Are you going to drive another 80 yards? Okay. At some point, I'm saying Why not drive another 30 yards and then kick the field goal later in the game where I have issues with Reich from yesterday, I thought he kept the kid gloves on Carson Wentz Too much. You're playing the Seattle Seahawks. That is a really good football team. You've got to get the ball down the field. You've got to create some big place. Colts had to 14 play drive yesterday, combined for three points. Seattle scored four touchdowns. None of their drives were double digit place. They hit the chunk in today's NFL. If you're not hit the big play, you know the days of being navy and going, you know, 16 play drives of 85 yards like that just happens. You you said there was the run game was ineffective. I mean, hammer and I were texting back and forth. I mean, Henry, you made a great point yesterday. Just give the ball and Taylor I saw some flashes of brilliance there yesterday but overall You didn't think it was very good. You know, that is such a strength for this team. Nigel. I just didn't feel like it was at that strength level. I don't have the numbers in front of me there. There's no way Taylor average four yards per carry, and for me how good he is How good that offensive line is. It should be there because I go back to that third and two, which became the fourth into that you were talking about. You've got Quentin Nelson, who you've invested a lot in. Everybody drinks the Kool Aid. He's Mr All pro and you've got Running back to a lot of people feel like could be an all pro back in Jonathan Taylor. Is it at least worth a shot to just go where your bread is buttered? They're running right behind the back side of Quentin a couple times and to your point earlier about right. Another issue I had was both 4000 yesterday. Taylor wasn't even in the game name hides both times like, Where is your £225? The guy you traded up for? Put them in the backfield with Heinz. You can do something pretty pretty creative there. And I just felt like in general the passing game. I mean, how many screens it just seemed like it was screen after screen after screen. Pittman get more than five looks yesterday. Definitely not Paris, Campbell and one catches a great catch took a big hit, but like again when he's healthy, you gotta use them because you don't know how long that guy is going to stay healthy. I just thought it was a very timid approach. When you're playing one of the best teams in the league, and we got probably would get about a minute left here with Kevin Bowen from one of 75 fan. I mean, looking ahead to the Rams back at home again here, Lucas Oil this Sunday. What do you think? What do you see? Stafford and company coming in, man, boy, My power went out for a few hours last night. But from what I heard the Rams are pretty darn good. Um, yeah, I mean, they're going to be one of the toughest teams you see all season long from a defensive line standpoint, they're more vaunted..

"Last thing before we let you go here Friday is the final preseason game Colts are on the road at Detroit. It used to be that final preseason game. Nobody played nobody of note played in that game with only three games. Now. Some of these veterans have not been on the field yet. Are we going to see them at all? Yeah, that's good question. I'm not expecting to see a slew of them. Maybe we'll see some of them. Don't think of this is like a dress rehearsal regular season games, but also don't think of it like how you just describe what the fourth preseason game used to be, and that, you know, you just played a bunch of back in the roster guys, and they literally played every play. So I think it'll be a happy medium. You will play your starters a little bit, but I don't think you play them deep in the third quarter. Now, meet me personally, I'd like to see more of the starters. Jason has yet to take a cap with the starters. I mean, he might be a backup week week one and, obviously, Carson, Um, if he don't know, for some reason, you know, you would like to see Ethan. With those starters in there, so that would be kind of the route I would take. But also, you know, after Friday It's what 16 games. They're 16 days off until the season opener. It's a long break much longer than normal. But from the sounds of it, let's take the starters will play a little bit. Not a ton overall, real quick. One more thing here overall, just any other positives for colds. Fans to you know something for them to look forward to in this season besides winds coming back, you know, I thought the pass Rush was much better on Saturday night, either in one overall pick and a beautiful move for a fact. And and their kicker. Battle has been really good. So, uh, advanced anything to note? You know, maybe they can trade one of their fingers were draft pick or something, and I did think the left tackle play was a little bit better. On Saturday. Now we're grading all these people on a curb because you haven't seen a lot of frontline guys, but compared to where they were in a week one of the preseason I saw some improvement in those two areas on Saturday. Where can we find your workout? Kevin? Yeah. Valentine 70 on Twitter and then host in the morning, Joe Now on our sister station or sister station. I should say that's 175. Stan, Kevin Bowen. "Retires. And then you've got Matthew Stafford supposedly in a deal with Los Angeles Rams because he really likes paying taxes. Tony Katz 93. W I. B C Good Morning. So what's The plan. Let's bring in Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan, one of 75 the fan dot com. You've got the article about what the options are, but before anything What this deal. Stafford likes this deal, or it was just the Rams are willing to give up so much that how could the Detroit Lions say No. And Stafford doesn't have a choice? Yeah, I mean, definitely more Ram than I do Think Matthew Stafford wanted and was intrigued by being in Los Angeles. Um I think his family wanted to go there. But again he was under contract. So the Lions had execute this deal on their own, and and it was impressive trade package. We got two first round picks. And potentially starting quarterback. They got Jared Goff back. He does carry a big cap it but at the same time he is only 25 years old and lives to GM comes from the ram. So it's very two different sides of thinking here. Tony, the Rams are all lead when now. The lines are looking much more towards a rebuilt I'm looking at your article over at 175 the fan dot com What the options are for the Colts a quarterback, but before we get into that list, what we're saying is, there's no way we're keeping Jacoby percent, and there is no faith that Easton, who we picked up in the last draft could be the start of this year. Correct what service eats and Chris Ballard isn't even sure if he's comfortable on him being the backup, and this was before Philip Rivers decided to retire. So you know that's against the first order of business there because Ethan is under contract. Whoever set the free agent we talked Jimmer stay for about an hour last week and then an hour, Jimmerson says that lot. He did not bring up the name to Kobe percent. One time he started 30 games to this franchise. No, you're in a weird situation right now. He knows the offense. But is anyone else but in no way, shape or form Do I think this is a window team and Jacoby Percent could be your starter. Your list. Includes a free agents and potential trade options in the free agent category, talking to Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan about who's going to be the quarterback for the Colts. You have Andy Dalton and Ryan Fitzpatrick, Cam Newton and Dak Prescott. By the way, Prescott in Dalton, both of the Cowboys mixture Boesky, Jamison and Jamis, Winston, and I think all those choices a crap and I love Fitzpatrick. I would adore fits Magic in Indianapolis. But none of these are good options for the Colts, are they? No, not at all. It's such a bleak list and again realistic option that Prescott is probably going to go back to Dallas anyways, and he would be the best name. On that list. So welcome to quarterback Purgatory and Antonio. I've said this often when you're in quarterback purgatory, its quarterback Hell when you don't know the answer, it is hell in today's NFL. And as a colt, you know, beat writer as a fan as someone that lived in this market for the last, you know, for my entire life. We're not deuce to this. You know, since the big nineties, the coast of really known who their starting quarterback is going to be or haven't had to think. Too hard about that decision, And now this is this is the reality at your end. So again, I posted those free agent names and posted those trade names. None of them are very ideal. You also got to think towards the draft, and if I were crisp out, I've been looking long and hard at that list. Then you've got the potential trade options, which include Teddy Bridgewater. Derek Carr of the Raiders. Sam Donaldson, the Jets Nick Foles, also with the Bears Jimmy Garoppolo, who made the big move Tol West Coast from the Patriots, Matt Ryan and the Falcons to Shawn Watson and Carson Wentz. Although there are some names and their of guys who can clearly play and some guys, so I think if they were in the right situation they could play like Sam Donald again. Man, Uh, except for Derek Carr, who I think could be a cult sky. There's no one here that that moves the needle is there. No, I don't think anyone that moves it to the degree that Stafford would have. I thought Stafford gave you a chance to potentially make a run in January. Now, you know, we obviously look in Kansas City in Buffalo, and there goes two teams are going anywhere. But The rest that group home with you actually think their car could make sense. But again, the Raiders have not floated their car out there Now. They haven't made the playoffs and last three years, so you never know with the Raiders, but still it's not like his name is on the trade market. Obviously, Carson went to the front brake. Connection played in N V P level, But you're gonna have to resurrect a big time career there and take on a pretty big contract because let's play terrible last season, Sam Donaldson, you know former top five pick Get him out of the New York market and just the dysfunction of the Jets. Is there something there? There is a level of risk that you'd be taking with all of these moves there. So again no one offers. You think ideal situation. I know the draft is difficult. That is the route that I would explore. So there's I don't know all the players in the draft and we'll get into that another time. But before I let you go Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan dot com You take a look at this list that you've put together and you realize My gosh. Maybe asking Andrew luck to come out of retirement isn't the craziest thing I ever heard. No, You are right. And your Jimmer say, um It's like talking, you know, uh, thinking about your ex, When was how we talked about is your luck so they have definitely, you know, thrown out the hay and Drew, are you? How are you enjoying Dad likes, but they definitely tried to make sure that The conversation doesn't go very far past that he knows what they think of him again. It's not a pestering annoyance by any means, but I don't expect and you love to be coming back. He does have one more year. Under team control. Jimerson spoke last week about okay, You know, it doesn't do the Michael Jordan, blah, blah, blah again. It's a lot of Jim just kind of being a hopeless Go to romantic with it all. I do not expect Andrew luck to shock the world and un retired that is Kevin Belen from one of 75 the fan dot com We will Be following this as it goes, Kevin. Thank you. I appreciate it..

"Does Matt Stafford have a say in where he wants to end up the or is that just left between the teams? Well, no, I He doesn't have a note a note straight anything like that, and he's still under contract. So Detroit's gonna have toe You know that they will have a lot of say, and honestly, the only way I think they would listen to Stafford is just know you've done a lot for our franchise for the last decade, So we're gonna listen to you a little bit, but Their new GM, Brad Homes, their new head coach, Dan Campbell. They have no ties to Matthew Stafford. I mean, if they really wanted to, they could just pick the highest better now again, Stafford my wine a little bit, and his wife is extremely vocal on social media. So who knows? Maybe she'll chime in about it. But, yeah, I mean, I would say it's like something like 90 10. Detroit's decision versus staffers. Setting with Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan KB Want to switch gears just a little bit here. How depressing. Is it going to be for IU basketball fans when Assembly Hall in Bloomington is hosting N C a. A tournament games and the Hoosiers are not invited. Yeah, he imagined Trace. Jackson Davis just pulled up to the hyper because that's where he's got to play, you know, Okay, practice basketball because assembly Hall we could call or, you know, used up determined? Yeah, it's just And I don't know about you guys, but I just woke up Sunday morning and I'm like, man. Um, I think rockers is actually a lot to win today. Like I I just I just had the feeling of like IU does not string Games together, and this is a Rutgers team that hasn't won in the month of January. And I you shot the bull. What 60% from three like that should be an automatic win at home every single time. It's not like Rutgers got to the foul line a whole bunch more. Then you either, But, um, you know, people ask me if you have asked me today. Boy we know is Jekyll and Hyde and up and down. No, no, no. This is just who I You is right now in your four of the Archie Miller era, and that's an extremely inconsistent Normally below average, Big 10 team went out like people ask, What's the identity? What's identity? That's what the identity is. It's been a boon of below average big time basketball team in year four of the tenure. Baby. How's it that per duo and matte painter? Find a way to get better as the year goes on every single year, but yet replace you know Archie Miller with Tom Creen or whatnot. The Hoosier teams don't ever seem to do that. Yes, it's a great question. Hammer. I would say couple of things. I think Matt Painter is a great job assembling a puzzle because building your roster and knowing when the pieces needed plug in and when they're ready to be plugged in. It is a puzzle. If you look at two of their starters this year, they're both red shirt. Freshman, you know, red shirt to me. You don't hear that a whole lot. And today's college basketball certainly at that level, but brain and Newman Amazing, Jealous. You know, two guys that have helped him out big time this year. Again. We're patient understood their role last year, and now the sudden they're starting for four produced. I think Matt has just a great understanding of exactly what he needs to recruit. How those pieces fit. You know when it's time, Okay, let's focus on player development. Now, now that we really need these guys as well, and I also think he understands how to manage a season. Produce never been a great nonconference team under matte matte painter, But he knows what the gauntlet is waiting in the big 10. And you need to be a sending. Because as long as you take care of business in the big 10 this conference offer you plenty of chances. I mean, I used to last an entire month full of chances to possibly, you know, build some sort of in state tournament resume. Yes, I think you know produced done that it kind of reminds me honestly of the Pacers under Nate McMillan of your grinding it out so much to win these regular season games you get to the playoffs. What do you have left in the tank? I felt like we saw that kind of into Tom Crean teams and certainly in some Archie Miller teams of decent on conferences, maybe better, better than decent. But in the big 10 play, you just run out of gas. Speaking of the Pacers, just real quick you got about 60 seconds left Pacers better without all the depot. Well, cast that that stuff. Yes, they are better, but they're not better when they don't have vehicle Depot or careful, Bert like that. That's the issue. The guy who traded for Is not here. Unfortunately, and so right now, so much pressure's on Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis to do your score, and you really need Jeremy Lamb, who's now back, so I think, Get in the starting lineup. Take more of that scoring burden off. So yes. Trade was the right decision. But unfortunately, Laverne you know again is dealing with the whole different matter right now. So you're pretty much down in 18 20 point score at the shooting guard spot, either Victor or careful, Vert. He covers all things sports at one of 75 the fan. "The stage is set Tom Brady and the Bucks. Squaring off with my homes and the chief Super Bowl 55. I think I say this was the most interesting match up. This is the one I was hoping for. What are your initial thoughts on Super Bowl 55? Oh, boy, that you were cheering for Brady and nice E. It's a lot easier to cheer for Brady when he doesn't when he's not on the Patriots. For some reason, I'd like the story I like. I like that. He left old man, Bella check, and now he's here. Basically a middle finger. The Patriots Abella, Jack's face it. Yeah. Look, I guess I didn't really need you all that bad. What do you think? Uh, OK. Yeah, you've spun that. And now you have me a little bit. I love Bruce Arian. So I guess I am happy for Tampa. But, yeah, I mean it. Zab salute. Incredible What Brady continues to Dios. I was just stunned by the amount of big third down throws. He made early in that ballgame like Green Bay got them into some tough situations Early on. And yet Brady's touch and accuracy and It was incredible to watch and they get as much as it pains me to say it. The guy is an absolute stud at what he continues to do at this age and now lead a different franchise. To the Super Bowl. I self since that yesterday, where he has like the third most playoff wins in history over NFC team. He's only been in the conference for one year. You know, three teams. They're obviously has all the Super Bowl wins a swell so again as much as it pains me to have watched the three hours unfold yesterday. A Z just guy that appreciates incredible accomplishments. I don't know how you can't appreciate that. And Kevin, I thought it was a real classy move of Tom Brady, Um, to pay tribute to the Bucks previous quarterback Jameis Winston by throwing three picks in the third quarter, although that was a real classy thing to do so we owe He's eliminating him from the playoffs last week wasn't enough in a game that Jamie's comes off the bench and throws a touchdown. Yeah, times like member All you guys have last year when you went 7 to 9. Uh, we'll just make this interesting late and creating great talk show radio at least for us on Monday morning. All right. So what's gonna happen with Aaron Rodgers? Because I thought that was a pretty bizarre postgame presser yesterday that the Packers quarterback had he didn't sound like a guy that was 100% committed to going back to Green Bay at all. What was your takeaway? No, he did not. And, you know, I've listened to enough Aaron Rodgers over my years that that man says things for a reason. You know, he doesn't just talk. You know what? Just just talk. He knew full well what he was saying, and it's a totally different tone from how he sounded last year. In San Francisco when they lost in the A F C title game. Obviously, he was frustrated by the Packers drafting a quarterback last April in Round one and didn't feel like you know, they invested as much. Maybe when now is they should've and you know you you played yesterday with Go back of left tackle, and it definitely showed so again, very calculated words from Aaron Rodgers. Now, having said that I do think there is still a bit of a raw emotion from The aftermath of that game, and when he took down and looks at it, he's got to be pretty honest of where exactly? He feels like. He has the best chance to when another Super Bowl because that Z what is missing now? Four straight losses in the conference championship game. But yeah, that's something to wear. If you're the Green Bay GM, and that will flor that their head coach all the sudden, it's like, Oh, boy, we need to spend a lot more time with Aaron Rodgers in the exit interviews. Because he made it very clear that it is an uncertain future. Any snowball Schatten? Hell that he ends up with a horseshoe on his help. Oh, I don't think it I don't think it is the most outlandish statement of the world. Um, you know, hopefully his memories of dating Danica Patrick and visiting the city of Indianapolis. Um I don't know if we want to go down that road, but Yeah. I mean, when you look at, you know, ideal quarterback destinations for a him or for Matthew Stafford. Whoever else you want to throw out there. Why not? Indianapolis? You know, what will you have from the offensive line? What you have from a run game, your defense taking steps in the right direction. Right, Right have gotten quarterbacks a variety of different quarterbacks to play at really high levels throughout their careers. So, yeah, I mean, it would check a ton of boxes. But you know one thing that I think we have to keep in mind why I got two things. First is Chris Ballard willing to get into a bidding war for some of these quarterbacks? Because guys like Stafford and or Rogers, there's gonna be a lot of suitors knocking down to short of Green baize door. Do the Colts have the money? Kevin? Does the Colts have the cash to do that? Money isn't the issue to me at all The cool, catatonic aspect. It's more of how many draft picks or you want to give up. You know how much are you willing to push the chips all in a bit and really mortgage, you know, draft capital that It means a lot to Chris Ballard. Now you know, everyone would say if you don't have a quarterback and I have a chance in the culture and the desperate situation, I think the other factor to keep in mind is this And this might sound kind of sorry, Sort of Excuse tol. Look at it do those quarterbacks and if they have a saying it do they want to come to the A F. C and again I know that's a really kind of weak way to look at it. But have you guys seen the quarterback and Kansas City and what That team continues to do like the FCC's going to err ahead for the next 5 to 10 years, and it had to go through that city for the last three seasons, and they look like they're just absolutely machine with magical homes under center if 1 25 of their last 26 games I mean, this is the NFL and the team has one like that. So again, that might be kind of a weak boy. You should just want to win and blah, blah, blah, and you can't be afraid of anybody. Hey, the real This is real right now. Patrick homes in that franchise made it showed those times Stop. Does Matt Stafford have a say in where he wants to end up the or is that just left between the teams? Well, no, I He doesn't have a note a note saying anything like that, and he's still under contract. So Detroit's gonna have toe You know that they will have a lot of say, and honestly, the only way I think they would listen to Stafford is just you know, you've got a lot of our franchise for the last decade. So we're gonna listen to you a little bit, but Their new GM, Brad Homes, their new head coach, Dan Campbell. They have no ties to Matthew Stafford. I mean, if they really wanted to, they could just pick the highest better now again, Stafford my wine a little bit and his wife is extremely vocal on social media. So who knows? Maybe she'll try and then about it, But, yeah, I mean, I would say it's like something like 90 10 choice decision versus staffers. Chatting with Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan KB Want to switch gears just a little bit here. How depressing..

Hold on. You didn't see any hairs at all. That's right. But most importantly, I didn't have any gray hair living life. Did you adore you? Did you have Ah, Were you surprised at all? Did you did any of the family members surprise you with anything that you got to dinner? Would you do quick shoutout to my wife? She put it. She made this incredible video because, you know, obviously, with pandemic still Top to get a bunch of people around for a good party. She reached out to old high school friends, college friends. Um, this is my third television job, so I've been in two different markets. Here is some of the people that I worked with before I even met her and put together like this 20 minute video of them just telling funny stories that they remember me with that some point in life. That was incredible, and she she worked on that, she said For Cuma. That's also my wife. Yes, she worked really hard on that now was that was very special. That was a really cool birthday present. And Marcus those who follow you on social media. No, you are a diehard Indianapolis Colts fan like 90% of the photos of you on social Media is either wearing a cult jersey or at a Colts game. It feels like so, with that being said. Is it easier toe like Tom Brady? Now that he's separated from the Patriots? You know that's a good question. Uh, my wife asked me about that. How are you feeling like it was like knowing how I felt when Peyton Manning went to the Super Bowl of the Broncos and I was kind of cheering form, But in another sense, I'm like, you know, whatever. There's probably a lot of Patriots fans that are super mad right now. And I am 100%. Okay with last night before we let you go here, you said we're going to see a little bit of a warming trend may be a late night tonight. That means we're gonna be in the fifties and sixties later in the week, Give it to me. Come on, Marcus. You know it does get a little better. Kind of active here the next few days. We may have white light rain showers tomorrow because I think we do. Get back to the low forties. Eventually, tomorrow on then another round of maybe some scattered so showers on Wednesday, But what did you have to the weekend? Have low and possibly made forties. And that may be playing a conservatively, so there's some. And so we may have a least at least a nicer warmup for January and early February standards look forward to so we not we will be in the freezer for very long kind of little Bessie right now, but hopefully getting better over the next 6 to 10 days. "Latin. I believe with the known copy, which means I think I'm pronouncing it right. Maybe I'm not, but it translates to. So it begins or now I begin. Tony Katz 93 wi VC. Good morning. Let me bring in Kevin Bowen from one of 75 93 5, the fan, one of 75 the fan calm and were the cult's really prepared for this moment, or did they think he was going to come back for one more year? I think they thought he was gonna come back to God's with you, Tony. I know things have changed a bit over the past month or so. And maybe the 80 90%. You know, Phillip stuff coming back has less in the bed, but I just thought how wired he is. His competitors like you said, how close that playoff loss Woz and how you feel like you really lost that game, And maybe not necessarily. Buffalo took it from you on the fact that the one missing element on his resume is, you know, just the playoff success and getting to a Super Bowl. I thought he would play one more season. I'm a little surprised he's moving his small army of a family of nine Children. Our third time in less than a year, But he wants Coach High school football and I know that like ton great to do a lot of people, but he is absolute passion about that. Its father did that to him, and he wants to coach his son's in high school football. So that's the plan. Are they moving out where they move into? It's fair Hope, Alabama Way Down south in Alabama. See, he's from down there went empty state, obviously their lives in San Diego for over a decade or so. But yeah, that's where there hadn't So now you're the Indianapolis Colts. You take a look at the fact that Jacoby percent is a free agent. You got Jacob Eason who Maybe they feel still needs to develop and you're looking out over the landscape of quarterbacks. Is it re signed percent and he's your starter. Is it see if you can make a move in the draft? Or is it find a guy who has success and maybe could have more success here? Allah Matthew Stafford of Alliance. Yeah. You know, if I was running the show, Tony, it would definitely not be bringing back to Kobe percent of the starter. You You've seen him twice as a starter. Do you really need to see him for a third time? Um, it would be them around Go. That was brutal. That was brutal. I am I wrong. I'm not the expert. I don't get to say. Okay. Um, I don't think I am. Um I think the draft makes a lot of sense. You know, when you look at the final four a F C teams this year Tony Cleveland, Baltimore Houston are not used in Kansas City and Buffalo. All four of those teams you're drafted quarterbacks and last four years in the first round S so I think that's just the path. You look around your conference. A lot of these teams have young to bees that they believe in or they think they believe in. So I think it's time for the court to kind of get into that path. Having said that The veteran route and Matthew Stafford, the name that you threw out. There is intriguing to me. If you're going to go that way. Now you got to trade for him. He's not a free agent. You've got to give them draft picks and you're gonna absorb a bit of a contract as well with that boo. But certainly it would help you. I think when, now, you know if if if that's exactly what you're looking for, in 2021 s. Oh, yeah, I would be again slightly more team draft, but Matthew Stafford is the name of all of the trade free agent targets out there. He's the one that I would like the most talking to Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan dot com I would make the argument outsider looking in that the Colts are team that wants to win. Now. They're not in the building years there in the Hey, we've got guys in serious prime. We've got an offensive line that works. We're gonna replace Gaston. So we already knew that was coming. We've already got some guys who might be able T do that, if not perfect, at least fill fill the gap. We've got a running game that can actually run the ball. We've got a defense that wants to hurt people. Why would we screw around with building a quarterback? Let's get somebody who can throw and let's get some quarterbacks under them who can build, so we're ready for the future. Yeah, I don't know how really win Now they are when I hear the phrase when now I think if you got a bunch of like 31 32 year old guys like, Think Back to the end of the painted area here, 9 4010 like, oh, boy kind of last run and then financially. You know, it's just, you know, Water's gonna pull over the boat and all of a sudden, you know, we're gonna be a sinking ship here. I again I don't look at the Copa like that. I think they really have about 5 to 7 years. Really young, mid 20 year old talents from you. No less than that, with how the rookie class reform this year so I look at it like if you could get the rookie QB To ascend on his rookie contract like again. You've seen those F C quarterbacks around you do not only does it help you, you know, for the next kind of 5 to 10 years As you have been sending football team around that young quarterback, it also helps you out big time financially. Quarterback on a rookie deal is extremely extremely more affordable than it would be to go out and make some big veterans splash there. And this is not a great quarterback market. I mean outside of Stafford. I don't know how many cubes that you look at. Really, Tony and say, Oh, boy, he walks into your building and you instantly become one of the two or three best teams in the NFC. I take to Comey percent over Andy Dalton. I take cover percent over Dak Prescott. Well, I would definitely not do the ladder. But Dallas is probably going to give back a franchise that look, we've seen Jacoby percent start over 30 games here. He's a 59% career passer. He's one of the better backups in the league. But him. He's the starting quarterback is not going to get you to do anything in the month of January, and I didn't want the conversation turned to some Kobe percent slander. He's a terrific human being. He does a lot off the off the field. But no, He's not your franchise quarterback for Super Bowl team. Nobody is saying that you were engaged in any bit of slander. What, so ever brutal. I have been accused of being brutal myself. I don't know what people are talking about. When when I said I'm often shocked when I hear a Kevin Bowen from one of 75 the fan. "Certainly we're keeping an eye on all the events unfolding with the inauguration, also the state of the state. Much more coverage coming up here on the hammer and Nigel Show other breaking news, especially if your Colts fan Philip Rivers iconic, legendary quarterback as spent one season with the entire with the Indianapolis Colts, is decided to call it quits. Kevin Bowen covers the Colts in his host on one of 75 the fan, Our sister sports talk station. Keep s O s. So I woke up to the news this morning that rivers is retiring. I consider you an insider. You have contacts. You worked within the walls of the court's Colts Organization for number of years. How did you first find out that that rivers wasn't coming back? 29. I think when you know me and hammer talked about a month and a half ago, I thought OK about 80 90% Chance. Philip Rivers returns and then you know, as December started to move along, and even we got into January that really became almost a coin flip to me. Again, Rivers his own decision. You know, I was like, Oh, boy, I don't know if this was gonna be something that he definitely 100% wants to do for another season. Um, late last night, I I heard from someone that this is going to happen. Unfortunately, just Did not get that second confirmation on it. But having said that I'm still a bit surprised. To be honest with you. I thought his competitive streak his passion for the game. The fact that there's not some crazy physical injury involved again. Yeah, he had the toe issue this year, but Burstyn talk that might have a need surgery. I just thought that would win out and how that season ended in Buffalo being so close to beating the bills. I thought you would return and always moving, you know, Secondly, for a third time in less than a year, which that's just a small army of people that he's moving, you've got nine kids, so I just thought all those factors he would play one more season and kind of delay being a high school football coach. So tell me is that the way it works with sports journalist to sports writer you had And initial confirmation last night, But you but the way it works is you have to wait for your policy is I'm gonna have to sources on this before I hit social media with it. That's what kind of the way it works with you. Yeah. You know, I could probably get away with one, you know, And maybe mother medium, but something this magnitude, you know, I really wanted to make sure like I'm not necessarily in the breaking news business. You know, I'm more of Ah, analyzer if you will of this information, and you wanna be right before you first, for sure, for sure. And so, you know, I averaged out to someone I thought close to the rivers family, someone close to the Colts organization, and when I got crickets, I probably should have known then that this was happening, but it was kind of cool. Philip broke the story. The UM San Diego's equivalent to Mike Chapel. So my chapels cover the culture of 30. Some years. I heard you guys to him this morning. Uh, the old Chargers beat writer Kevin A. C is his name. That's who. That's who broke the story. And you know it wasn't some mega Adam Schefter in rapid ports and mega NFL reporter. It was just kind of a local guy that to get that goes to show you who felt forever says extremely loyal and extremely dunder. Kevin Bowman covers the Colts for one of 75 the fan. Okay, let me go back to this one Looks circle right back around like I was kind of surprised that you said you were surprised. By Philip Rivers retiring. I always thought and I think you mentioned is I thought it was. I mean, 50 50. This guy had a great season with Indianapolis and I thought, Well, he's getting up there in age. It wouldn't surprise me at all. But you were kind of surprised. Yeah, you know, it's kind of two fold one and think of Sando decided to retire last week. That kind of brought me back to the drawing board of like, Okay. How about Philip Rivers view that like the offense of line protection without standing last year now the culture scrambling on who that new left tackle's gonna be? Rhetoric just suffered a toe injury. Okay, Is that going to alter his thinking in a way, But I brought the high school football coaching job, which is what rivers we're going to do next down in Alabama because he's always wanted to coach his son's. High school football. His father did that to him. And so his oldest son, Gunner is on Lee in seventh grade, So I felt like, okay, you know, you wait till gunner is a freshman. And then you know, you go move back to Alabama. You play here and indeed for two years, and that's kind of how the story would unfold for his next chapter after football. By all accounts, he really had a pretty good individual season for the cold. I mean, I think he checked off a lot of boxes of what people thought he would be like so I was in the corn. I didn't think it was like a big of a slam dunk, as I think many others thought, but at the same time, the naked found the news came out. And those families battle a little bit of a code code thing. Right Right now. I was just kind of like, all right, You know, highways just gonna play out with, you know, seemingly another virtual offseason. Come into the NFL. What was the name of that? You mentioned the reporter in San Diego that broke the news. Yeah. Kevin 80 San Diego Union for being I heard you asked him this morning. Maybe..

"Day? People January impeachment. It's just it's like when the rhubarb is in season. I tell you Then we got a blockbuster trade. Tony Katz 93. W I. B c Good morning. Let me bring in Kevin Bowen from one of 75 93 5. The fan Harden. He is going to the Brooklyn Nets. Laverne is coming to the Pacers and all the depot. Is going to Houston. They had talked about all the depot. Maybe not being happy. Maybe asking for trade alert right there on the floor while playing other teams. He tried to tamp down those rumors. Was this a question of bad blood? Or was this a question of? Hey, this is the game of basketball. Um, I would say a little bit of both. But I would probably push more towards the bad blood. Victor oldie but didn't want to be here. He did not want to be in Indiana Pacer past 2021 season first time, is a free agent in his NBA career. The handlers the team those around him have gotten to him and pushed him to want to be in a bigger market and expand his brand, which is they believe this much more outside of basketball, so It is a unquestionable win for Kevin Pritchard in the Pacers again. You needed to get return on Victor. He played really well, honestly, the 1st 10 11 games this season, but you had to get something in return as he cares, reversed. Very nice piece. Talk to me about him talking about the pedigree talking about what kind of player the painters were going to get. And what do they win? Lose with this switch out? Yeah, I think you could make the argument. Honestly. The carrots pervert right now is even a better player than Victor Oladipo. Similar games in a way offensively, you know, not great great shooters, but you can hit the outside shot a little bit taller than Victor 66. He's a Midwest guy with the University of Michigan from Picker Tina, current teen Ohio and from a contract standpoint, that's where I think it makes the most sense. Tony, you know he's under contract through 2023. Where's again Victor was a expiring contract. I'm so deeply cares about brings is still flat right into that spot next to Malcolm Brogden, and now you've kind of realigned your timeline with your starters. Everyone is under contract through at least 2022 every starters under contract to 2023 besides TV Warren, who was just under contract to 2022, so I think that helps some things as well. But you know, Paris avert had a lot of different roles in Brooklyn. Starter coming off the bench, 73 guys, something like that. And now I think given in kind of a consistent role and playing alongside of pretty balanced starting lineup, I think I think a lot of really nice career. Talking to Kevin Belen from one of 75 93 5 the fan and now talk to people about where this place is the Pacers in the east. I mean, I want to get into the whole all the deep of thing and building the brand. These are things that I understand. I don't know why in today's world it can't be done from wherever, but that's not the conversation. Where do the Pacers go from here have is there Positioning in the East a change of course you're gonna have to deal with the Nets now with Harden. But what is their outlook look like Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't call them by any means a championship contender here the season, but I think they could be right in the kind of that 45 range in the Eastern Conference. I still look at Philadelphia. We'll see what happens with the Brooklyn saga, and Milwaukee is kind of teams that are still on the little bit of a different level. But then when you talk about Boston, Miami, you know we'll see if they're after is ever kind of get it together. I think that's what the Pacers fall in line. I think the key thing, though, is You look at this new Pacers era, which I think it's a new era, starting with care, silver coming here Now you're back to kind of this nice three year window. You know, I talked about all these guys aligned on the same contract. Really All of them are in the similar age gap as well. Kind of 26 ish. The big guys are even a little bit younger and Sabonis and Turner as well. So now I think over three year window you've got the core in place. And again. You aren't a championship contender necessarily this year, but under new head coach you kind of groom it. I could see this team honestly and in a couple of years with a few more pieces Having the potential to make a run in the Eastern Conference, and I would not have said that with victory All Depot knowing full well again that he didn't want to be here. And of course, we all know that revert. Is the third cousin of Eddie Levert, who was the lead singer of the O'Jays. Home room, right? I mean, as if you needed a little bit more needed nothing else. But that makes it perfect. That's Kevin Bo. And be sure to read about one of 75 the fan, one of 75 the fan dot com. Kevin always appreciate your taking the time. Pour one out for you, man. Um All right. I leave it to others to explain to me whether or not this is a good deal. That's why we're bringing Kevin bowing in. But I was just it was interesting to see the reaction was not the Paul George reaction. It was not the you absolutely awful, terrible jerk. Glad you're gone. Paul who? Man? No, No. All the people come and made everyone forget I would say about Paul George. So, but that was there was animosity there. I do not know if anybody has any animosity towards all the depot on this. I think that when that rumor was out of telling other teams eight can come play for you. That was ugly. And he said, Look, It's rumor. So I think you did a pretty good job of Pushing that down, but I think that's going to stay with some people. This trade better for the team. I guess the only thing that matters right now we will get into it coming up at 706 of the president. Going to the oval to speak about violence and political violence. I'm going to share it with you in full coming up. Tony Katz 93. W I B C Good morning..

And I appreciate it, man, Johnny. Thank you. Nate Hawkins, coach of Heritage Hills, as they defeat gives in Southern 73 to 34. Hey, coach, I was going I didn't realize you were filling in for Bob tonight. So hey, the show goes on. Yeah, That's right, Bob. They told me you were on and I said, Well, yeah, we'd love to get on the errand and talk a little hoop. So good deal how to go tonight. Good. Get really good. Thought our thought our kids We have a little bit of the layoffs. We had a little covert issue. And so we were all for about three weeks hadn't played since December. The 18th and I thought our kids were really locked in this week in practice, and, um, as we came back, and then you know, And then tonight I wasn't sure what it was gonna look like We're gonna be a little rusty, but they came out and we're very, very sharp. Um, stepped up, make some shots are big God. 68 forward Blake. Cicely, let us again tonight with 24 points stepped out. Hit a three kind of dominated in the post and s. Oh, yeah, it was. I tell you, it's really tough and you know, we just have to, you know, I mean, it's It's a challenging mentally as it is physically too and you know, and I just I thought that I should know what to expect when we came back and and our kids were very sharp and just had not really missed because way, developed a lot of confidence before the pause there, and obviously it just kept going in a really good direction for us, and we hope Can you go to play and hopefully we'll have any setbacks along the way the rest of season, Coach I wish you the best coach Nate Hawkins from Heritage Hills. "In Bloomington. You know, you think about college towns that have been hit So hard as well, Um, you know, throughout this past year, at times the end to is very low hanging fruit, and we love to hit that, But they got this one right. This is pretty easy decision for May and hopefully some fans will be able to attend here in a couple of months, but very, very excited for the month of March and glad that will be happening in our backyard Lucas Oil Stadium. Bankers Life the Coliseum. Hinkle, a zoo, You mentioned Mackey Arena Assembly Hall all part of this Now we just gotta get some Indiana teams to be involved in it. KB, and that's what I'm concerned about. We'll talk about that. Another time, though, because I know your time is limited. Let's get into what happened yesterday with the Indianapolis Colts. I'm not gonna lie to you. There was a time where I was angry Tweeting yesterday fourth quarter Jags have the ball the opportunity to take the lead Multiple times. I was mean tweeting. I was angry, texting. There was no way the cult. We're going to blow this by getting swept to the Jags. They held on that man. It wasn't pretty well, I think the bubbles are tightening a little bit. To be honest with you hammer inside of Lucas. So stadium there If you had told me the start of the day that the Jags Would have four straight possessions with the ball to take the lead in the second half. I would have been like, Wait, What? I mean, they had, like you said several opportunities to potentially take the lead. And, you know, maybe even put you on your couch permanently, You know, for the rest of the rest of the season Had that score ended up holding up there, but the culture able to get enough stops. And then Johnson Taylor was a man possessed and it looks like that, really. About the past month and a half outside of their Kendari. He's the hottest running back in the NFL. And guess what gives the Colts and hope that, you know, maybe you could pull off an upset in Buffalo or Kansas City, but, yeah, it was not the prettiest 60 minutes of football. Surprise. Jacksonville hung in there. I thought the cold, you know, took the pedal. Take your foot off the pedal a little bit there about man. Rookie running back certain You certainly bailed you out and set a franchise record with 253 rushing yards. What do you see? That's different in the second half of these Colts game's compared to the first half, Because it kind of looks like that Pittsburgh game all over again call to build up a big lead, and then slowly do everything in their power to kind of crap it away. You know, I think sensibly when you get away from the scripted nature of the first quarter, you know they've been so good on opening drives. You're also gets exposed a little bit. I don't think there's a great talent at mainly the receiver position, and I don't think you're about yesterday's a shaky increasing Philip Rivers really in quite some time. And so I think you get a little bit exposed. Know anything. Kasongo doesn't help the situation there And then on the on the defensive side. I just think you're kind of regressing a little bit more to the main, You know, I felt like it times you're overachieving. On that side of the ball throughout the season. And you know this is a team that making the playoffs is a very good accomplishment. Certainly, but this is also the seventh best team in the A F. C. So I think you're gonna see inconsistencies you are going to see You know, I came to see your buffaloes type performances week in and week out, So I just think it's come the nature of where the football team is in 2020, both sides of the mall Kevin Bowen covers the Colts and all things sports at one of 752 fan. He joins us here on the hammer in Nigel Show, so Colt are at Buffalo. It's a one o'clock kick off on Saturday gets all the playoff games going. Last time I checked cults were around a touchdown underdog to the bills. Handicapped is for us. What are we looking at? Well, you're you're looking at a very explosive bills often shots Alan, their young quarterback. He's on some sort of n v P list. He probably won't win it, but he's certainly on it was the year that he had. Upon dig their top white out is, I think led the NFL in receiving yards and receptions this season as well. The very innovative offense and Alan is a big arm quarterback that can make plays out of the pocket. So defending that has been an issue for the Colts this season, and it's probably outside of Green Bay. It's probably the most explosive offense they faced all year. Defensively. Buffalo won't wow, you and a lot of areas and honestly, I'd say the biggest weakness might be stopping the run, which certainly plays in the Colts. And what you have a Johnson Taylor. I know about you hammer. I'm actually keeping.

2018 NFL training camp preseason players to watch
"A few more days of practice Head of them still and the latest is Anthony Costanzo and the way that coach. Reich kinda describes the injury to Costanzo is Oh it he had it and he's got it back and he's gonna There's. Gonna be some rest right he's gonna. Need a little bit of time. It's as vague as. Anything, out. There I'm wondering about Costanza 's future tell me I'm wrong Yeah Tony I I don't know about in terms of long term but I think. It's something to monitor the, rest? Of the that it'd be the first injured. Hamstring about two weeks before training camp. Started and then re tweaked it. During Friday night practice It's. Been really really durable NFL career he's only miss three games, maybe since his rookie season it's eleven and he looked, at positions on the colts. Roster and talk about depth I think left tackle might be, the most bear and unproven position on the roster so Dongo's bend your left tackle for the last seven years and he's going to miss a little bit of. Time, and, that, is very vague and maybe he doesn't play the, rest of the pre season but you would think just a tweaking of a hamstring he would be able to go by the regular season opens up here in a little over a month So you don't see it as a serious thing when you take a, look at the injuries that he had last year No, he was hoping last year two years ago think or maybe even the year before that when he was heard so I I don't. Think it's anything to fret over long term why. This is a guy that has been extremely extremely durable in bell career That guy wanting the, blind side of you know Through that awful twenty eleven so you end up through Angeles early. Years in these past couple of years as well I don't think it's anything that. It's a reoccurring injury that happened for several years maybe came back a little bit too soon, from that hamstring injury and and he openly. Admitted he kinda. Over trained in the off season so rest stuff you don't. Need a Santa Costanza in the month of August you need to see some of these other guys play left tackle in case this does become a lingering issue talking to. Kevin Bowen from ten seventy the fan dot com that's where you go to get all of. His latest on what's going on a training camp one of the things I noted is that when it comes to running back where, a little bit, of everywhere and nowhere on here we've, got MAC I think people are happy with him. But you, need a, little bit of that day Angela shoulder maybe better, but he still needs to hand off the ball who is he handing off to and, what are we seeing a lot of young guys Tony with Robert Turbin suspended for the first, four games James Andrew lock arguably I think the top three running back to the roster none, of them have, played with lock when you talk about, Marlin MAC going into the second season the mid. Rookies and, I am, highs and Jordan Wilkins as well and Jim Irsay, had quite hyperbole on Friday night saying that he thinks Marlee Matlin rush for fifteen hundred, yards this season I don't know if anyone in for Is He has his, bell Donald Trump of, sports just don't let them tweet Did he tweet which one was it he said it yeah. Said that we have three hundred and fifty yards rushing all last year so that's that's quite the jump for the second year back and especially. On the colts have said they want to be running back by committee so I think there are some young pieces to work with with MAC and what Jordan Wilkins the fifth round pick, out of night's camp, and I kind of bored More of a hybrid player probably help you out on special teams maybe a wide out as well so that's really really. Unproven and when roster cuts happen and the end of August you know you might be a decision that you look for more of a, more of a veteran objects I. Do think there, is something. To work with their but if the group they just, hasn't proved, themselves on the NFL level quite yet as you see it so far as in training camp Who is the player that we should be looking at and who's the player who you think is causing the most concern But I. Think a player that's really, surprises then the Niko Autry new defensive lineman signed from Oakland this past season. Back in March, I think one of the I think it was the first free, agent signing, McColl patio in, twenty eighteen and you know when you're talking about quit Nelson and how dominant the rookies ban, you know in full pads the guy that have occasionally been Autry and. The colts need some help with this new four three Friday and, Autry I think could be kind of a nice surprise I. Think that a guy that you feel, good about concern standpoint I'd probably go back into the secondary and go Quincy Wilson the second round pick some last year Who figure to be. Maybe the number one cornerback a corner in. General I think as a physician group that hasn't had a lot of play making here. In the first couple of, weeks at grand park and they're rotating a lot of bodies there doesn't look. Like many documents, in terms of starters and that group so they need Quincy Wilson, to a, merge because you, spent a second round pick on them you know we know full well how valuable corners are, today that I Sal and the colts just don't have a lot to. Work with with that you know kind of really a it's of, your top four corners I would say three of them are..
