"I'm about 30 miles from Allentown. North of Allentown. And I only live like 13 miles from Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah. I've seen his grave tombstone many a time. And now there's a little controversy the last year or two about his family you want to move his body back to the reservations. So I don't know what's going to happen with that. Well, we're living we're living here in Allentown. What's that? I said, well, we're living here in Allentown. You know, I moved down to Louis. I moved on Louisiana in 1980. I moved down here. I play football, South Carolina, Paul. Did you really win? Oh, the diet saw error, Paul dietzel. I played for Paul dietzel. Yeah. But you know what? One of my favorite shows to watch is Saturdays in the south. Oh yeah. And they talked about when Lou holtz came to coach South Carolina. Do you know Lou holtz coach at South Carolina when I was there? He was there in 67. I didn't know that. In fact, I'm going to see I'm going to see coach holds in a couple of weeks. Hey, by the way, were you there when dietzel left? No. Okay, because I got to know I was there, I got to know a different and I had lunch with him one day. And it is arguably one of the worst decisions. Did he now hold on? I'm trying to remember. He did he go from South Carolina with South Carolina after army, I'm trying to remember the chain of command, LSU, South Carolina and army. He was at all three. No, he went to Indiana. He went to LSU. He actually went to LA she was the athletic director. Right. And but after South Carolina, him and his whole staff out to Indiana, including Ralph Lloyd who became the athletic director out there. Right. Yeah. And I am so excited to talk to you. I'm from the football family, you know. All my family played college football. Well, that is, that's amazing. So South Carolina, had they already gotten out of the ACC when you were there? Or they still were I left there in my last year was 71, but we always played. We always played ACC schedule and then right in a row we played Florida state was independent at that time, then Georgia and then Tennessee. And I remember it was a great Georgia team as a Bruce camp. Kent Lawrence and that's the names I remember. Yeah, there were some good teams back then and I played against a hacksaw Reynolds and Steve kinder when I was an offensive lineman. Oh my God. Oh yeah. Steve Conner. I mean, I love the most famous players in Tennessee history. Uh huh. I'm always talking to SEC football. I love SEC football and I'm starting to move over to SEC basketball. Now I was always an ACC fan, but when I was in South Carolina, that's when Frank McGuire was there. And he had some great teams down there. John roach and Kevin Allen, Tommy Owens. Brian winners, Kevin Joyce. They had some great, I mean, oh, I grew up in an ACC basketball. Well, Joey was an absolute pleasure to hear from you and don't be a stranger. Thank you very, very much for the call. Carl is in Kentucky. Hello, Carl. Hello, mister Paul. How are you today? Very well. Thank you. All right. I just wanted to see if you would address what I consider the elephant in the room and that is the SEC media rats. Supposedly going to Disney or Disney+ in 2024 and do you think that's going to leave out a lot of fans that will not or can not pay for extra premium packages, am I going to be stuck with watching the Big Ten after 2024? Well, Carl, I think when the SEC switches over, you're right. There will be some there will be some games probably on plus, but I would doubt that the important games will go to digital. There's just too much money involved and there's too many when ESPN makes the switch. I mean, right now, ESPN already has everything but the three 30 game. So what you're really doing is adding one more game. And there's a good chance that game could shift to prime time as well. Now that the Big Ten is leaving ESPN. So I don't think that's going to be an issue. Now, I am a nobody at this company. I'm not an executive. I don't know what their ultimate decisions are. I do know SEC fans though. And I don't think they'll put up with it. Well, I don't ever say you're a nobody. In terms of my voice being mattering in executive offices, I can assure you they don't really care. But I care what you say. And I can assure you that they will have to think twice before they start abusing the people that have made this conference. What it is. You take care of yourself. Thanks for the call. We are back after this. You are listening to the Paul finebaum show podcast. Hey, welcome back, Gary, up next in Knoxville, Tennessee. Hello, Gary. How are you, my friend? We're doing great. Thank you. Outstanding. Paul, I am no media rights expert by any damn mates. But if ESPN, your mothership is bowing out of the Big Ten, then in some ways does that not give the SEC carte blanche, I mean, you're not going to tell me that ESPN is going to go without Saturday football. Let me explain Gary. So what happens in two years, one year, whenever all these things get worked out, is the SEC will ESPN will pick up the afternoon game that's currently on CBS, the one that the audience is subjected to Gary Danielson. Sure. And that's a huge game. That's the number one game of the week. So the ESPN takes that up. And then they lose whatever Big Ten game they had. And they usually had a pretty good Big Ten game, which was either at noon or occasionally in prime time. So yeah, it's a big loss. I mean, you can't say it's not, but it was inevitable. The Big Ten was a commissioner that used to be the president of an NFL club, went very much in and he took a very much an NFL approach, divvying up the rights among three networks and getting more money by doing that than ESPN was able that the SEC was able to get out of ESPN just doing a total total carte blanche deal. But that's almost my point. So now ESPN is looking for Saturday football. Right. And it's pretty obvious where they're going. The ACC, the SEC, the big 12, the pack 12. Okay, well, let me add one thing to that Gary. They already had they already had the ACC. So nobody cares. Yeah, well, that's the problem. I mean, outside of Clemson and NC state and Florida state and Miami, there's not a lot to watch. So what happens now is that the PAC 12 comes into play very prominently. Whatever's left of the pack 12 and the big 12 becomes a player. So what I'm pretty sure they're going to do is gobble up big 12 and pack 12 rights that had previously been owned by Fox. But is the SEC now not in the driver's seat in negotiations? I mean, like I say, relative to the other and hand quotes here, power three conferences. I'm thinking that thank you just ask for a blank check. Well, yeah, I mean, the deal is already done. I think what it does is it might two things, I think it does. I think it speeds up the process of getting Texas and Oklahoma into the SEC. Because now you have CBS, and I know what rittenberg said a minute ago, but I don't really think if you're investing in a new league, you really care about one more year. You want to start putting your money in your new product. You don't want to waste time on even though it's a great product. I think they'll try to get out of that. And I think you'll see Oklahoma and Texas perhaps in earlier. And I think it opens the door as well for either another play at Notre-Dame or try to pick off a couple of ACC schools that are probably desperate to get out. Which brings me to my next point. There are a lot of talk about Florida state Miami. Now granted having Florida locks up a great deal of those markets, which of course drives a lot. On the other hand, does the SEC want to prevent the Big Ten from getting those markets and takes Miami, Florida state, just to keep the Big Ten for me to know. Yeah, I think what you have to do there, Gary, is looking and figure out if we see another round of expansion and we will, whether it's two or four, most people think it's going to be four. Then who is the most valuable commodity in the ACC to go to the Big Ten? There's some debate right now. It

"And look at that as an opportunity to talk to look back at the year in fine kick in the find the hole in your process on the whole what he did. Because if you could stand there and say i did everything up possibly could. But i still didn't get the outcome. That means that maybe the goal was was a little off. Offset you didn't you didn't properly set your goals. But chances are there's probably something in your process there to make that thing reality that had a holder or gap to huge opportunity but in order to make in order to do that to be able to retroactively. Look back giving managing your time like like alan and literally going back six schedule Based upon the amount of time that you spent doing something so amazing. Amazing insight. There kevin allen with you basic way personally professionally in the year. Twenty twenty biggest takeaway personally and professionally. There's been a lot. There's been a lot of accelerated growth this year I think it's going to be the tried and true fundamentals again which personally it's the ownership piece of your life genuinely will not get better in less you do and i didn't make that rule and i'm sorry that that's the case and i. It's almost like i care enough about people now to to not sugar coat things because if your life didn't get better in two thousand twenty one or twenty twenty and kevin kind of luted to us disagreeing a little bit on this and it's rare that we disagree to be honest but i think we do on this because i don't agree that it's okay to not come out better if you don't come out better on the other side of adversity as i mean better in your character not in your external results better in your character then. Then that's a losing game that you can never win. And i don't. I don't want to not have empathy for.

"I'm John Nash this is the job that the virus putting the economy on pause also put on pause is criminal justice especially the justice part the courts have not been not acting correctly in any fashion for weeks and weeks and months and that may continue however that did not resolve all the cases all the hearings all the investigations all the rates that were waiting when the country went on pause to help recommend ways out of what we are now in a very deep hole when it comes to criminal justice I welcome the honorable Kevin Allen he's a retired judge in the state of Utah the wonderful glorious state of Utah he's a research fellow at the center for growth and opportunity at Utah State University writing with his colleague Lucas Rentschler for Bloomberg law about what is to be done first the problem Kevin a very good evening to the problem is we've got a huge backlog that's the problem and every court knows that every level of every court in the land is that correct good evening to you good evening yes correct John it's a huge problem and and the courts do you know about it I speak with my colleagues Austin and they just see this backlog getting bigger and bigger and bigger and can become an even bigger problem as the as we start to reopen their society and the backlog I can characterize it generally as you've got a lot of of dots dotted I's and crossed teas that are left unfinished and that very much at that very much and it influences the remedies or the court decisions or the hope and for a for the families that are before criminal justice and their lawyers and their families so we've got I mean can we could be talking about a population of millions do you think we are of course we already are talking about a population millions we Carceri more people than any other country in the world including China and Russia it's already a huge problem and it's just going to get bigger and bigger as we continue to not deal with these cases I think the courts are doing the best they can but it doesn't stop them from having this problem of these cases just keep getting backlog because of course the set down in California send the courts you shut down completely Sacramento county courts aren't even open right now and so these cases just continue the backlog and backlog and backlog and the biggest problem is going to be when we finally have to deal with them we're not gonna have any money to do it because of budgets are going to be slashed so we've got to look to other solutions you next that's what the piece is about let's talk money for a moment you report that it costs an average of twenty six hundred dollars a month to keep someone incarcerated that's a national average Joe would be high here in New York and lower in other states is that correct the cap correct correct but what what what is the better way I mean twenty six hundred dollars a month to warehouse to human being who's attached to other human beings whose lives go on hold because dad or my brother or my son are waiting for a court that that how do we calculate the what that costs to this society we can't possibly the you know the big epidemiologists say every death is worth four point five million dollars over a lifetime but incarcerating a nineteen year old is like a death isn't Kevin of course it is you you've got a family and often times children and spouse or girlfriend the relied upon him or her for to pay the rent Hey if he can continue to bring home opportunities form many times the judge I have a a white and to me and say if if my son my husband goes to jail I have no place to live I have no way to feed my children as we got to find a different way to put people in there putting the clothes just system and just throwing one in jail all right let's come to the remedies what has you have some good well yes this is only fifteen percent of all crimes of violence all right there's there's more to say that but let's just set it aside it's not a big number the big number is non violent or drug related let's get to it Kevin they're drug related crime so what is that what is the what what is a path forward that is now being used that could be used nationally or could be used state to state how do you treat someone who's always been arrested detained sanctioned ticketed because of a non violent offense well I think one of the one most effective means we have that's currently being used for it could be reporter quadrupled is drug courts drug court courts take somebody who is an addict thank you for the very first question you ask is mean addict manages the axe you bring them into this court system where they are not in jail instead you provide treatments you provide support you provide jobs support they report to the judge weekly sometimes bi weekly as they move through the program and it teaches them how to deal with their addiction instead of just throwing them in jail introducing to other drug users of the cuts were going to get out and then they don't have any ways of any tools to deal with their addictions instead it teaches them how to do that and it brings families into it it it it it brings are the two key ingredients to a by providing job opportunities and now these people are out there instead of just sitting in jail costing us money they're out there working paying taxes paying their bills take care of their families and learning how to deal with their addictions and they're extremely effective but unfortunately we don't find them in the house Ross a state she should need meetings in Utah even though I think most people try this is one small problem which give me one small solution that we could do mental health courts are similar are you take someone's mental illness you bring them into the score to help them deal with their mental illness learn.

Michelle we must warn what you're about to see and hear is quite graphic perfect but it's true happened at the club space fish behind me last night. A band called G G Allen and the murder junkies performing at a club that prides itself in in its words on having shows on the cutting edge. People paid seven dollars to watch a man defecate into his own hand while he was nude and that is just the beginning. This is the space fish cafe. Tuesday they say is a dead night. Monday apparently was not Mike Brown. owns the place. I would say that you never really know what's going to happen. When G JALEN PERFORMS THIS IS G G Kevin Allen arrested when police raided the club? What did he? We do relieved himself. And did it all mean you name. It was probably happening up. Police report is quite explicit. Says the Zinger took his own feces began throwing it at people and eating off the stage. She was down here at the stage just stepped off and they decided to do it. Most everybody here probably thought it was funny and was I don't think I really don't think people were shocked. People outside were are. We are in a commotion that we came outside and a guy ran out the door naked and he was throwing chairs and he had us doing it on people as they came out. The club. House panel votes to intensify Trump impeachment probe

"Help me the house Judiciary Committee on Thursday today. has now approved a resolution defining the rules of the panels impeachment investigation the first vote the committee has taken related to the potential impeachment of president Donald Trump now we all know that Jerry Nadler he is very much of a pro impeachment guy he wants to see Donald Trump out of that oval office and there's a couple things going on here first of all we do have some audio sound bites a we are going to play and I I have not I'm just discovering this myself as far as exactly what's going on they say the party line vote came as house Democrats have struggled to define the committee's probe with Jerry Nadler saying the committee is conducting an impeachment inquiry while house house speaker Nancy Pelosi and other democratic leaders are refraining from calling it that now the the reason why that is is because hello see has been saying all along in the house and we know that is where the impeachment proceedings have to begin and so she's been saying listen we don't have any opportunity right now to impeach there's no quote unquote there's no there there and so you have people like pelo C. saying gonna try to tamp down the impeachment talk and then you have folks like Hey Jerry Nadler and he's been all about impeachment and so what they're trying to do this said this morning is there defining what their role is and apparently according to Nadler their role is to ultimately and I'm going to paraphrase here but impeach the president Thursday's vote which by the way does not need approval by the full house gives Nadler the ability to deem committee hearings as impeachment hearings it allows staff to question witnesses at those hearings for an hour after members conclude gives the president lawyers the ability to respond in writing to public Tess. the money and allows the committee to collect information in a close to setting so let's hear and I haven't heard this yet apparently Nadler was out there on the you know out there in front of a microphone he had a few things to say so sure go ahead just just play whatever it is that never had to say this committee is engaged is investigation that will allow us to determine whether to recommend articles of impeachment with respect to president trump that is what we are doing some call this prices and impeachment enquiring so call it impeachment investigation there's no legal difference between these terms that I no longer care to argue about the noble collection. all right so they never means business also sounds like he has a cold what else did you have to say. let me clear up any remaining doubt the kind that under investigation poses a threat to our democracy we have an obligation to respond to this thread and we are doing so. all right so I I I believe that this is actually I could be considered a good thing because we know what happened to the Republicans in the house when they tried to impeach Bill Clinton a it actually. back fired on them and and they lost the house and so this is one of those situations where Nadler is going against and we we talk about day in talk radio all the time I'm sure Brian's covered as well we talk about it all the time the civil war that is going on inside the Democrat party right so you've got the people who are considered more moderate which in this case is Joe Biden and then you've got all of these other people that are hard core socialists well you also have those folks in the Democrat party who have been screaming for impeachment and that's gonna be Jerry Nadler that's going to be a see and some of these other folks and they they live for impeachment then you have Nancy Pelosi Nancy doesn't want Jerry Nadler to do this unless there's a lot of behind the scenes wrangling going on what you could say to because remember this is all about a political game it has nothing to do with what's good for the country it has nothing to do with what the American people voted on. what could be also happening is by never doing this and being able to do it without the full approval of a house vote that also gives cover to the people like Nancy Pelosi they can say listen I had no part in this this is something that they wanted to do with this is something that they did do and so if there is some Democrats that are in more Republican friendly states in Republican friendly districts well those people won't be as active peril because these you Kevin Allen say it does that's exactly right Katie it absolutely right it

I can give I in this for a little while and then foof that Vincent man comes out and re does a story line that he did on raw like like he did before like we talked about several episodes ago right <hes> where we're like wait a minute. Is this the same everything you're doing over on the other that was the seth rollins and a j styles where he just wanted to show me who you really are right yeah and neither of those are doing that now. <hes> so yeah I was just kind of like Oh and then this happened and I was like wait a minute do what and then I'll write contracts and W._W._e.. Universe work like this right the lawyers draft everything up everybody's names out there but it doesn't matter whoever actually signs finds it they get the match right right because Kevin all that stuff was written for Kofi and Daniel but Kevin side and so he gets it right. That's the W._W._e.. Universe loophole right so Kofi. Why didn't you immediately turn around and sign that God damn contract yeah sorry I know what I mean like? Come on man like what am I supposed to believe here as the viewer right well one thing that irritated me and I understand a a little bit but also again in this whole Kofi momentum. There hasn't been a moment right. There's been an hour long match which in my opinion as a viewer I say anyone with that. Same skillset can lose an hour long match Mustaf Ali <hes> anyone from two oh five live few other smackdown of anyone can lose that our long match right because that's what he did. He just lost an hour-long match but they're still hasn't been in a moment forego fee to like well this his flag in the ground and say like I'm fucking Kofi Kingston. This could have been it where Vincent van does the like. If we're shooting here brother it's because you're black and that's why I'm not putting you in this match. Here's Kevin Owens right yeah. That's what it felt like to me <hes> and the Kevin Owens comes out but this is where you have backup right. You have biggie in Xavier Woods. Who are cosigning co-signing your feelings? This could be your pudding my flag in the ground type of moment you could have said like nope. We're not accepting this. You Grab Eric Role in you beat up Eric Rowe and U._B.. But being O'Brien You Punch Shane and <hes> Stephanie runs off Kevin Owens goes like I guess I got on the ring they triple power bomb him and Kofi like this is my fuck and show yeah and then that's when you go like I'm in remember and this is tight. I mean like it's tough right so I don't know how you walk this line in two thousand nineteen but there was a day when W._W._e.. Would would tackle major controversial issues head on through. There's no reason Kofi couldn't be like you're doing this because I'm black. You've never had a black W W._T._N.. You I mean this could have been a huge like wait a minute. What did he say right now? True right now that particular issue might maybe too risque yeah to come out of nowhere with if you haven't already been being a little risque yeah but yeah something along those lines right something like a little bit like you can hint at that right. Can't you be like why why is Kevin Owens more qualified than I am right like you can just ask like what is it is. It is win because I've got more wins. You know what I mean like. What is it right like? You could just keep asking that like you. Could you could do something to kind of push the envelope on this and like you're saying like they can just turn around and beat everybody up and be like no showstopper stopper. It's a new day right now. I was saying that's how I felt because I've viewed this product for thirty years. You can keep the same Vincent Man Promo and to your point. I still think Kofi Kingston's Jason Going to get this match at Wrestlemania. Maybe we go with some type of you're holding me down storyline. Why is that you're the man kind of thing we'll see but I just felt like that could have been the moment where it's almost? I like to swerves right so we're swerved once where Kevin Owens replace Kofi but then we get swerved again we're Kofi goes like nope not on my watch and then we go like Oh shit and then also because now he's army behind him just was weird. He just left and Xavier Woods and big ear just like why do that to my main while you got to do that to my man you know what he's put in for this company and it's like well then go show it out in arena yeah you guys are walking away with your tail tucked between your legs right. Yeah they sit there like watched him. Sit Down and sign it like why didn't you rip shit up at least right like yeah well. Why don't you grab a sign written like rip his name? Do something do something but yeah I. I'm hoping they have some kind of plan but man we've seen sometimes. I don't ain't a good thing either I mean I don't like viewing this as the viewer again going into Cafe World I just saw Kofi as a podcast bitch biggie Xavier Woods that could have been even a moment for Viki or James Woods straight up Beta kids right like the moon we can never go now that would have been one thing if like we saw that and then later in the show we see backstage and they're still doing it and copays like now you know what he finally comes to like. He's like Nah remember remember. When you came to me and bring back like the initial the way it started where it wasn't necessarily necessarily the new day it was kind of like? What is he doing recruiting? These guys be like you had a purpose in a vision we got away from that is timing to that. You know what I mean. He just which them up just become completely like how the USOZ changed. You know what I mean. You could switch the data something totally different off of that and have Kofi kind of leading the charge for a little while absolutely that would be money but yeah and even go a little bit more onto this point before we go into the next story. Let's fast forward into that episode alone own and in the main event Kevin Owens gets the pinfall victory. You could have an in my opinion if I'm writing this because I think I'm better than you storytelling. I would have had Kofi Gifford's bursary me nothing special in this episode. You know where it's coming from. You could add Kofi get the pinfall victory over Dana Brian to then further his point that says I have what is it three now victories over Daniel Bryan Tang matches albeit but I have or in Gauntlet match as well but I have three victories over Daniel Bryan Kevin you couldn't even pick up the victory in our own match and the B that should be fighting for the title Nope you gave it to Kevin Allen and then they kind of just stared at each other and go like well bullying that something they both want the same thing that was awkward. It really was and I don't get it either yeah misfire yeah I mean we'll see now. Kevin Owens better she yeah on the other end of the coin right on the other side of the coin <hes> going to be completely honest with you. I like it like Kevin Owens born coffee okay with it. I mean he's a better he's a better pro wrestler Kofi. I mean like I was getting into the hype I was getting the hyperion interested to see where this was going. I thought hey Kofi and Daniel Bryan Camilo put on amazing match and I'll be interested to see which way they go so kind of left me my R._A.. But I kind of know Kevin owns and Daniel Bryan are going to wrestle you know what I mean like and I know how they're gonNA alike how they're going to tell this story now. I don't know maybe I don't because they're both in completely different characters than they've been in for a while. Oh Man and just imagine Daniel Bryan talking about the gluttony of America represented presented by fat ass. Kevin Owens dare jacked up a little man and he's still fat of course of course but he's not as fantasy was when he left yeah but you know he's not as fat any bolt up his upper body a little bit <hes> so that's a good that's a good Combo. He lost the little here. He looks better than when he left. That's like saying hey I wasn't speeding that much. I was only going ninety five one hundred something man in a in a business that you're supposed to look Eddie's fat. He sat out. Give it to them. I'm still trying to lose weight too. I'm fat as well but let's get into the next door. You what have we got here. He's still fantastic. COM becky Lynch is arrested right is it don't come here. Game will yeah right. They said don't don't come around here and she came around because yeah. That's what the man does. <hes> I still I okay so some of the takeaway here is Ronda. Rousey laid the title relinquished relinquish now. Did she ever come out and see that Chevrolet. That's that's what it is cosigned with saying like I'd never laid down Thailand Right for Charlotte said to right <hes> Yeah No. I know that's the implication <hes> but I think they've stalled got some time to be like you know. We've called Rhonda you know but I like the I. I don't like the idea of her. You know what I mean like begging for things but I like her being like now this ain't right. I don't know what well you know what I mean like. You're not just GonNa you know I mean like pictures though this crap around like this isn't what this is about you have this man. I'm not any part of this. I mean like you you come at me professional right the way we contract and things up right if they feel that way a much cooler <music> right now this is mine yeah. I like the line where she said. I'm not your worker. I'm Rhonda Rousey Way. This is a this is a mutual beneficiary contract right. Were both benefiting from me being gene here. You're getting money and I'm getting money. Let's keep that going and I liked her she. She's she's not doing that great but she is doing a very good middle of the road right like I'm here to face the best in my opinion becky's the best but I'll still beat up Charlotte and then she even just said like making it a triple threat beat both of them and so it she's doing her character really well..

Kofi Kevin Owens Kofi Kingston Daniel Bryan Kevin Kofi Gifford Daniel Bryan Vincent van becky Lynch Xavier Woods seth rollins Rhonda Rousey Kevin side Kevin Allen Mustaf Ali Chevrolet Daniel Bryan Tang Eric Rowe USOZ Daniel Bryan Camilo
