"Binary Cosette, Fox News. Unemployment down. As a new report shows the U.S. jobs market remains strong, adding 263,000 jobs this past month. President Biden touting the new jobs report numbers unemployment remaining low at 3.7%. We continue to create jobs, lots of jobs. Not everyone is celebrating, however, according to that same jobs report more Americans are leaving the workforce as participation rate dropped again for the third straight month. Fox is Lucas Tomlinson. Meanwhile, Twitter, CEO, Elon Musk, releasing new findings that revealed Twitter heavily censored conservatives and certain news articles. Despite indignant denials by democratic officials, it is now apparent based on what we've learned from Elon Musk that democratic officials were in fact censoring conservatives in the run up to the 2020 election and also the Hunter Biden laptop story. Fresh update on "kevin" discussed on The Defiant - DeFi Podcast
"It could be the same person or whatnot, but so far we don't know. So yeah, we keep seeing these hats, which are effectively market ways to manipulate the market and tokens and lack of liquidity in DeFi. Do you think that, I mean, who is the most hurt by this? I mean, this hacker minted these tokens out of nowhere, but I presume, you know, there has to be someone on the other side of this trade that lost money. But it's just like, it's hard to actually see that when these exploits happen. So who got hurt here? Was it the holders of this token of the anchor token? Yes. Because basically how anchors liquids taking work was it's similar to steak teeth on Ethereum, right? So you would take your B and B with them and you would get this a B and B C token. Which you then hold or you could deploy and DeFi, et cetera and now that token is essentially worthless because it's been dumped to zero, right? And Chris is the underlying assets are safe. So I'm not sure what their plan is to kind of reconstitute and make users whole. But given that it's $5 million, I think anchor as an entity should be able to withstand the hit. Now, on the other side, with the second trader, it's the lenders on helios that got wrecked. Because I think I'm not a 100% sure, but I think helios had basically hard coded the value of this what's it called a, B and B C to B and B assuming that they would trade together being liquids taking a token, right? But yeah, I'm not sure about that. So the issue here is basically pricing and Oracle, right? Because you're not getting accurate pricing drawn to the lending protocol in time to prevent something like this from happening. So if they were using chainlink or like what kind of Oracle? I don't think they had any Oracle. Like I said, I think they are all they had hard coded. Okay, so that's a big issue. Yeah. Again, not totally certain on that part, but that's what I read in a few places. Okay. So that's one takeaway for traders in DeFi. Look at using protocols that have a robust Oracle and pricing system and just enough liquidity to understand these changes. Yeah. I am as always the enemy, right? Because if there's a lag between an exploit or something like this happening where a token moves in an outsized way and you're exposed to it on some protocol that you may not even make the connection, right? But the interconnections are so widespread now in DeFi. So a random token on some other chain might wreck your protocol to if it's supported as collateral or something like that. Yeah, I mean it's high risk high return. So when you're getting into these less liquid, newer protocols using smaller smaller cap tokens, you are taking a risk and this is what can happen for sure. Kevin chambers in her comments, should we upload the hacker for exposing an insecure smart contract? I don't think, I don't know, I don't think it hacker should be uploaded, but I think there are lessons to learn from these exploits for sure. Let's move on to the next kind of breaking news right now.
Mark Shaw: Connecting Joe Kennedy and J. Edgar Hoover
"Wanted in our final segment to connect Joe Kennedy the patriarch to J. Edgar Hoover. Go ahead. Well, all of this is my contribution to history. You know, it all landed in my lap somewhere and so I feel like it's my duty to let people know about this. They can make up their own minds. I write stop and think books. But one of the most miraculous things that I found, my wife said, I screamed when she came when I came across this. From the national archives, a document that showed at one point, Joe Kennedy wrote a really nice letter to J. Edgar Hoover, praising him up and down about everything he was doing and everything. And then if you can believe this, said, you know, mister Hoover, FBI director Hoover, you should run for president. And if you do, I will back you financially. That just blew my mind. Yeah. Here. You know, it's just corrupt. It's just corrupt stuff, and it bothers the conscience that these kinds of things. Listen, this is the point. And it relates as to where we are today. When you wonder how it is that the clintons and the bidens can be so corrupt, we have to understand folks. This is human nature, apart from God, this is what power does to people. It is evil, it hurts people. And when you think about J. Edgar Hoover, I mean, the idea that this man had the power that he did as the director of the FBI for decades, folks, unelected for decades, tremendous power to look into people's lives. And he himself is a tremendously mysterious creepy figure. It
Fresh "Kevin" from The Mason Minute
"The mason minute. With Kevin mason. I know it's technically still fall, but it doesn't really know what it is. Because some days it's fall, some days it's winter, and some days it feels like spring. Yesterday we had highs in the 60s. I think today we're only supposed to get highs in the 30s or 40s. And the thing that's really taken the torture is my skin. My hands, my legs are just a hot mess. And always are during the winter months, sitting on my desk right now. I've got gold Bond ultimate men's lotion. I've got O'Keeffe's working hands, and I've got C to fill moisturizing cream. Some of which work sometimes, some of them work none of the times, and the worst part, I can't stand the smell of hand lotion. It just bothers me to know and there's something about it that has this, I don't know, I can't even explain it. If there was a non scented lotion, I would be a happy camper. I also don't like the feel of it either, but I put it on because I have to. I look at my hands right now, and they look like a 90 year old man. I don't work that hard. I just hate this time of year. And I hate the dry skin, and the only thing I can do about it is waiting to win is over. And that's not for another three or four months.
Mark Shaw: The Kind of People RFK & JFK Were
"The only thing, I mean, when I was reading the book, I was thinking it's sad that marital and Monroe died. It said, particularly that Dorothy kilgallen died. It's less sad that JFK died because when you look at his life, the depravity is astonishing. It is absolutely astonishing that the level of entitlement, the idea that his father and his family had extreme extraordinary power and that they used it to rig an election, which is an abomination in the United States of America, all crime is wrong, but to steal an election is really, really dirty. And then of course, as a young man, married to a beautiful woman, he is bringing prostitutes into The White House. It's just so dark. And so awful. So it seems a tragic tale, whether he's assassinated or not. It's just so filthy. Well, it all comes around, you know, in life. And I have new information in fighting for justice. JFK's a senator. He's obviously having sex with his secretary. And it's in a building in Georgetown. And he goes over there, and there's a woman who lives next door. And she decides to go ahead and let him know that she's going to tell the media about it. He confronts her on the street on the street the next day with his finger in her nose. You go ahead and you do that, you'll never work in this country again. Okay? That's what kind of a person he was. And then Joe Kennedy just covers all this up. I mean, JFK was married before he married the Jackie. And Joe covered that up. That was his greatest, but of course the least. It's almost funny. That seems like a charming thing, you know,

Eric Metaxas: The Meaning of Christmas
"Okay, do you think America has lost the true meaning of Christmas? What do you think that meaning is? I don't know what could be more confusing than we say when we ask these questions like the true meaning of Christmas. Why does Christmas even have to have a meaning? I mean, here's what Christmas is. It's a celebration of the birth of Jesus who is the second person of the Trinity. So when we talk about the meaning of Christmas, it can kind of become this kind of commercialized like everybody's in the Christmas spirit. And I think to that extent we've lost the true meaning of Christmas in the sense that it becomes attenuated into nothingness, that it gets about gift giving. It's not about gift giving. We give gifts to celebrate the birth of Jesus. So I think we really have to make an extra effort to focus on the actual meaning of Christmas and the penumbra is less important. Okay, all right, so the actual meaning the birth of Jesus Christ savior of the world.

Eric Metaxas: China's Strict COVID Policies Are Evil
"First serious one here. What do you think about China's strict COVID policy and the resulting protests? Well, anybody who's been listening to me on this program knows what I think, but in case you need me to give you the short answer. There are sometimes we see evil. There's no other words. Satanic evil. An authoritarian regime behaving in such a way that is as cruel and inhuman as anything you saw under the Nazis or in the old Soviet Union. And the question is, are you speaking up about it? And are you watching those who are saying nothing? The Biden administration, which is very timid about being proud of American liberty. They blather about democracy, but let me tell you, if we had a Ronald Reagan in The White House or a Donald Trump in The White House or probably a George W. Bush in The White House, they would be saying something very strong to support the protesters in China. Many of whom are profound Christians in the underground church. So COVID has been used by authoritarians from Michigan to New York to California to China as a way of oppressing people as a way of crushing liberty and nothing is more dramatically true than in the case of China. So that's what I think of that.
Jeff Stein: Kevin McCarthy Is Not the Man to Lead Republicans
"Stein, what say you? I say Kevin McCarthy is not the man to lead the Republican Party at this moment and those across the country who voted for new read of members of Congress, new Republicans, young faces who are going to go and take the fight to the capitol. Eased not the one that they're going to be able to relate to. He's not the one who needs to move the fight forward. I have never met the speaker, so I or the potential future speaker. But someone I trust here in the state of Iowa, what did meet him on the campaign trail not long ago? And he said, my impression is, he's only out for himself. And that's the vibe I think that we all feel. Now, if that could also coincide with what's best for the party and the nation, fine, but it seems like his number one job Todd has been how do I get to be speaker because I got edged out of it the last time. And it's sort of like, all right, when he gets the job, what's he going to do with it? It's like the dog chasing TJ's car once the dog catches the car. What are you going to do with it?
House GOP Secretly Vote on Supporting Earmarks
"So I want to share with you yet another reason why I don't trust Kevin McCarthy. And this story comes from newsmax. It was just published mere moments ago. Charlie McCarthy is the author of this story. It turns out that House Republicans voted in secret, let me repeat that again, voted in secret to keep earmarks. You say, what are earmarks? Earmarks are, are your tax dollars? That have been squirreled away and your tax dollars are being used to fund pet projects by whoever is whichever political party is in charge of the house. They're the ones that get these earmarks. And it's really reprehensible that Republicans would do this only because Republicans claim to be the party of fiscal responsibility, right? Fiscal responsibility. They don't want to be the party of morality anymore. They don't want to be the party of the culture war fight anymore, but by golly, they are the party of fiscal responsibility. That's what they wanted us to believe. That's why they wanted our votes. House Republicans voted 158 to 52 against an amendment proposed by congressman Tom McClintock of California. It would have ended the rule, allowing members to add earmark provisions to legislation.
Kevin McCarthy Is an Establishment Republican
"Is very important with these people. And they're not going to pull a fast one on us. So anyway, now you've got now you've got conservative talk radio and the big boys are now siding in with Kevin McCarthy. But Kevin McCarthy is that still does not make him a conservative. It makes him an establishment Republican, a rhino, which is what he's been all along. And we know this because behind the scenes during the midterm elections, Kevin McCarthy was out there campaigning against conservative candidates. He was playing the same game that turtle was playing. And now Kevin McCarthy wants you to think that he is the next, he's the second coming of Donald Trump. Are you buying it? Are you buying what McCarthy is selling here? Because now you have people out there saying, well, there you go, touch starts. How dare you? How dare you criticize this good man. And if Kevin McCarthy is not elected, Speaker of the House, then that means Liz Cheney's going to be speaker. Or somebody else will the Democrats, they might even get Dwayne the rack Johnson to be Speaker of the House. What are you doing? Well, I don't buy it. And by the way, if Liz Cheney has the votes to become Speaker of the House, then that tells you that there is a much bigger and broader problem happening within the Republican Party right now. Because
Mark Levin Is Upset Freedom Caucus Doesn't Support Kevin McCarthy
"Mark Levin came out yesterday and attacked a good number of our friends, members of the house freedom caucus, and called them boneheads. We love Mark Levin, the great one, but the great one is very upset that anyone would dare oppose one Kevin McCarthy of California as Speaker of the House. And a good many people in Congress are now joining the freedom caucus. Our numbers we're hearing between 20 and 30 Republicans will not be voting for Kevin McCarthy. And if that's the case, he's not going to have the votes. Now, there are plenty of people on and really it's really not the other side. It's everybody and then there's us. Because I am standing my ground on this Kevin McCarthy issue. This guy is this guy is not who he says he is.
Five Republicans Stand in the Way of Kevin McCarthy
"You know some of you might be wondering although I haven't heard it but you might be wondering Mark why are you so frustrated and unhappy with these 5 conservatives Who are saying they won't vote from McCarthy Folks There's two reasons for this One is they don't have anybody to defeat McCarthy This is all drama And if they screw up you could wind up with a Democrat speaker Or a speaker who's incredibly moderate with a few of the moderate disloyal Republicans throwing in with the Democrats So it's a stupid game to play when you have no plan B number two an equally if not more important This lame duck session is dangerous Mitch McConnell is working with Schumer to try and push through a massive omnibus spending bill and then a massive debt ceiling increase with the support of the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal This is what he does I know what he does This is what he does So while these 5 are stirring the pot and telling us they're going to get some really great concessions from McCarthy while I'd better They sure as hell better They want some of the chairmanship and committees All this inside baseball crap means nothing to me
Next generation: Hakeem Jeffries set to lead House Democrats
"House Democrats are said to move seamlessly from one history making leader to another today in a show of unity after midterm election losses. Democrats are expected to make Hakeem Jeffries the first black American to lead a major political party in Congress. He would replace Nancy Pelosi as top house Democrat as the party ushers in a new generation of leadership, Pelosi and her top lieutenants are all in their mid 80s. The 52 year old Jefferies, 59 year old Catherine Clark and Pete Aguilar, who is 43, would become the new top trio, as Democrats show rare unity for a party that lost the midterms. Republicans meantime are struggling to unite around leader Kevin McCarthy before taking house control in January, Sagar Meghani, Washington.
Kevin McCullough: A Story From Working With Christian Solidarity Int'l
"An amazing opportunity. And Kevin, because we've just begun this month, I thought it would be good to get you to talk about it because you're familiar with CSI and with how they do what they do. Yeah, well, I've had the great humbling honor to be a spokesperson for them for the last ten years or so. And one of the things that I can not get away from. And for the people that are watching your show on rumble or wherever you post it, I want you to see that the picture of this lady's face that I'm holding up to the camera right there. You can't see it very much, but I think you can at least get a glimpse of the smile. This is a woman by the name of a choke. And her story is very similar to many of the stories that you will hear about and you will read about in the work of CSI. But when she was taken into slavery and a lot of this happened during the Sudan Civil War, which was, I think, 1995, and when the Arabs from the northern section of what was then the united Sudan would travel down into the southern regions where the Christians were ransacked villages, they would rampage through towns. They would kill lots of the men and boys. They would grab and take captive the women and children and begin marching them towards the north. These were the spoils of war. This is what's happened since the beginning of time. But when they were put into slavery, they were treated completely inhumane. And I could detail some of what they've gone through a choke. The ladies whose picture I just showed you, she was systematically abused moment she was taken into captivity as a 9 year old girl.
Kevin McCullough: Who Observes Online Discussions Matters
"So do you believe these discussions are fruitful, because I have my doubts? That is a good question. I don't know that they're fruitful for the person that I'm always engaging with. I think that the greater engagement, the greater value to it, is who is watching the conversation and how it unfolds. Because again, a lot of public policy and a lot of politics and a lot of the stuff that you and I do, we do it for and with each other and that makes our brains tickle with interest and all this other stuff, but it's not really, we're not doing it. I'm not trying to convince you of something that you're not convinced of. But when people listen to what we're doing here, they have their thinking impacted and they ask themselves more questions, more reflective questions like, why do I believe that? And I think one of the most powerful things conservatives can do in the public sphere, including Twitter, is to go on there and ask these people these nut jobs questions about why they believe it. It's not the best tactic to go back and attack them. What's more beneficial is to go back and have them explain what they mean. Actually put questions to them and say, why is it that you believe that that's true? And then add evidence to why you might believe it's not true and then watch that thread unfold, especially with people that have large audiences for the ability for the observer to look at it and say, I'm actually learning something from this is very valuable. It doesn't change Rob Reiner's view. It won't change mine and won't change Whoopi Goldberg won't change Eric with taxes. It will change people that are in the midst of searching and seeking for actual answers.
Kevin McCullough: People Who Care Have to Invest in Principles
"Elon Musk by spending 44 billion to buy Twitter, he's restoring some measure free speech. I find the whole thing bizarre, but positive. No, I do too. And I man, that's a big investment and you hope that it's worth it. But if you think about it, president Trump has spent enormous amounts of his own money running for president and people that care about these principles have to put skin in the game. And so he's done that. I think he certainly would like it to be a for profit business. But right now, he's making all the corrections necessary, including potentially bringing back accounts like mine. And again, if any of your listeners wanted to help encourage that, my title is at KMC radio on Twitter if you wanted to request that he take a look at that specifically. That would be deeply grateful for that. But let me pick up where you left off. You said, what happens to all the also rans that have popped up basically since Twitter did the massive purge? And that's a good question. I honestly don't think that they, any of them, including true social, had a real business model that was ultimately going to compete with Twitter for this one reason. They were all started as primarily relief outlets for center right people to go to to have their conversations, but they would only be talking to people that still agreed with them. And I think that the power of what made Twitter the intersection of communication was that people on the left thought they could get their message out and people on the right thought that they could get their message out. And so you have in that one locale and that one kind of intersection, you have both sets of ideas coming at each other in a pretty direct way. But how is it
How Kevin McCullough Was Banned From Twitter
"In the world? Are you banned from Twitter? I forgot about this. Well, that's the funny thing. The day that they banned Trump, I said, in a post within minutes of it coming out that they had banned Trump, I said, we're waiting Twitter. We're waiting for you to impale yourself. My point at the time was that they were taking their number one most prized piece of inventory off their store shelves. No one had as big a following on Twitter as president Trump did. And no one was more followed, more hated, more loved, more watched, more just curiously followed than anybody in the platform's history than president Trump. And as a publicly traded company I might add, they sabotaged their own value, their own worth by basically taking, it's like going into a pastry shop and you have the one set of donuts that sells 90% of your revenue. And you're like, well, we're not going to make those donuts anymore. Just throw them in the trash. And then you wonder why you didn't have the same number of customers coming back. That's what they did with Trump. So by putting him back on the shelf, and he's not indicated he's going to return to tweeting or not. I kind of hope that he will, because I think that Twitter does offer the rare intersection of people of divergent viewpoints to be able to actually have that conversation. But even if he chooses not to, the fact that Elon Musk did it, I think demonstrates good faith with his stockholders with the people that are consuming the material on Twitter and so forth. And the fact that they accused me when I said that Twitter was impaling itself by sabotaging itself, they took the word impale as a threat of violence and they said I was literally just the way you took the word bonkers literally a moment ago so they made the same terrible error and you're telling me that all this time you have been unable to be on. I just find that so amazing and
Biden tells GOP his hopes, gets stiff response from McCarthy
"President Biden says he's hoping both parties can work together on several issues as the GOP prepares to take house control. After the president hosted each party's top two lawmakers, chief Senate Democrat Chuck Schumer came out of The White House enthused. There was goodwill in the room. The president says he'd like both parties to join forces on keeping the government open, helping you crane and avoiding a freight rail strike. And we're going to find other areas of common ground I hope because the American people want us to work together. The top House Republican Kevin McCarthy says they also want something else. I think America likes to check and balance, saying that's why Democrats lost the house. And the man had lined to be its next speaker is serving notice. Come January. I think the administration got a indication is going to be different. Sagar Meghani, Washington.
Breitbart Labels Andy Biggs as 'Far Right,' Supporting Kevin McCarthy
"Breitbart is has clearly made a break from Donald Trump. And they've decided to throw their lot with Ron DeSantis. And look, that's great. It's okay to like both guys. I, for one, like both guys, I like Donald Trump. I like Ron DeSantis. That doesn't make me a bad human being. One of these days, Ron DeSantis is going to be president of the United States. It may be 2024, it may be 2028, but one day he's going to be president of the United States. But the issue now facing a lot of Republicans is who they're going to be voting for. When it comes to the speakership. And breitbart is throwing down a gauntlet. And they're saying that Kevin McCarthy has to be elected Speaker of the House, and if he doesn't, then the Democrats could gain control and could stage a takeover. Now, we've had Andy Biggs on this program. What I find fascinating is that breitbart is now referring to Andy Biggs, the congressman from Arizona. The former chairman of the House freedom caucus, a position now held by Scott Perry. They're calling Andy Biggs far right. This is breitbart. Breitbart is actually further to the right than anybody else. So who are they? Why are they out there and they're using it as a smear? This is not a compliment. They're using it as a smear. So Kevin McCarthy was on newsmax TV last night. With our buddy Sean Spicer. And Kevin McCarthy said, and it's a warning that if Republican members play games, the Democrats may end up picking the next house speaker.
Biden hosts congressional leaders on lame-duck sprint
"President Biden has hosted Congress's top leaders at a bid to lock in more legislative wins before a Democrats lose house control in January. We're here to get work done. The president sat at the head of a table facing top Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, along with GOP leaders, Mitch McConnell, and Kevin McCarthy. There's a lot to do, including resolving the train strike. A potentially crippling freight rail strike next week. It's not an easy call, but I think we have to do it. The economy is at risk. The president is also where Jay legislation to avoid a government shutdown next month and pushing for it to include more funding for the COVID-19 response and Ukraine. Sagar Meghani, Washington.

"And, you know, one of the things that's clear, right? My journey expect the unexpected, right? Because there's a lot of unexpected stuff that's happened. It continues to happen in my life and just expect that, right? And respect it. Well, just to kind of wrap things up here, Kevin, I mean, again, you've given so much in this interview, my God. Where can people find out more about you and about your work and everything online? Just at me, at me, at Casey catalyst with a K, that's easy. Kat. Yep. So Casey, Kat. At me, you find you can find me on all my social is that and it's easy to find me LinkedIn that way and yeah, that's what you can find out more about me that way. Yes, and if I can be of service to the next gen especially, right? Or the young at heart, right? And folks that are just trying to advance something I'm happy to do it. Sounds good, man. Kevin Carroll, thank you so so much for coming on the show. I mean, I had an idea, I think, how the conversation went because as I mentioned you before, I've been listening to your interviews all day, prepping for this, but I mean, the unexpected twists and turns that are just a part of your story. I mean, I think what anyone will take away from this is that you are someone that embodies like curiosity and really just a passion for learning that is definitely taking you to where you are now and the fact that you're also still paying it forward to so many people is astonishing. So I see that Netflix series in your future. It may not be Netflix, maybe it's Hulu. I mean, there's like what a dozen streaming services or something now, but I see it happening because, I mean, this kind of message, I mean, it's an important message, but I think especially right now, it's so important because of what's happened over the past few years. I think a lot of people have just kind of felt stuck and this period of time has caused them to think about, well, what's the next thing going to be? So they need, they need that catalyst. They need the KC catalyst. That's what they need. My buddy would call me the hope peddler. He said exactly that. I'm like, that's right. I got what you want. I got what you need. Come on, let's go. Yeah. Hope will not be canceled as long as I'm out here. Absolutely. Thank you so so much for coming on the show. I appreciate it. My honor and pleasure, man. "A couple of sentences, nothing more. And that would be in our model the a we acknowledge what they're saying. Yeah. The redirect would be shifting gears a little bit, talking about how this is affecting our clients. Here's what we're doing with our clients. And then the hardest part is the mini clothes, the M, where I'm saying to the other person, maybe we should be working together. Are you open to a conversation? Exactly. Yeah, a little bit of a mini clothes. Yeah, and we say many clothes we use that term quite often. Sales is a series of small closes, right? So the clothes could be to get them out for a cup of coffee, right? Just to chat a little bit more about their specific situation. Yeah, so think about this, for example, let's say we're at the pool. I've identified Kevin as my prospect. I'm the adviser. And I want to reel him in. If I take too big of a step, even if he's somewhat agreeable to meeting with me, I'm going to have some people who don't want to take a large step with me. So for example, if I went to him and I said, hey, I want to have you into the office next week, gather up, I'm going to send you a list of the information to gather up. That might be enough of a hurdle for him not to commit. Oh, yeah. It would be. Write it out, right? We're having somewhat of a casual conversation that all of a sudden you're turning it into this discovery meeting and discovery meeting, let's loop in your accountant on this. Whereas instead, I might try to keep it as small of a close as possible. So I might say, would you be open to me giving you a call next week and let's talk through at least initially what we may be able to do. That would be a mini clothes. The next step may be a video call or an in person meeting, taking it a step further. But the way we take a little baby steps, we get more people willing to commit to them..

"Your best. Yeah. The word is episode. I'm Stephen. And I'm Kevin. In today's episode of the Steven and Kevin show, we're gonna answer the question, do the affluent respond to LinkedIn messages. Welcome back, everybody. Episode number 91 of Stephen Kevin shows today we're gonna be talking about LinkedIn messages. The right and wrong, the best, the worst how you go about doing it. Right. There's no doubt that this is a topic that gets a lot of attention from financial advisers and, you know, rightfully, so it's very intriguing. It's using LinkedIn to message perspective clients into try and get them to respond to you and I think for a lot of the advisers eerily familiar. They think about their cold calling days or door knocking days or whatever it might be and it's like, I can replicate that through LinkedIn. Yeah, I think everybody looks for something that's scalable. You know, if I can do it once or twice, it works when I do it a hundred times. And what's really interesting in light of this whole pandemic we've been through is that the volume of messages going out has increased. I don't have an ounce of data behind that. My inbox tells me that. I feel your pain there, right? And we'll talk a little bit about some different approaches today as well, but one of the things that we did to kind of understand this concept a little more is we did a research project in partnership with Hartford funds where we researched affluent investors with at least 500,000 in the morning industrial assets. And we asked them, would you respond to a LinkedIn message from a financial adviser? Yeah, and the answer really depended upon the person's age. The younger person out there was more likely to engage. At least more likely to report the willing to engage. Those under 45, 39% of those under 45 said they would engage with a LinkedIn message from a financial adviser. 11% of those 45 to 65 and 4% of those over 65..

And the series is all deadlocked at two games apiece I think phoenix has been hurt by foul trouble and their last two games eight and was in foul trouble in game three and then last night. Not having booker on the floor for The a lot of that fourth quarter really hurt them as well. And i thought chris paul last night is greatness. Brilliant as he's been who he was out of it and give the bucks defense they were picking him up in the back court. They were harassing him and he had no energy but it's too nba finals. Good for him The game last. Go ahead about these to these cities and these two franchises is while neither one of the box did win. The nba title with kareem phoenix has never won an nba neidl But yet if you look at the at the win loss record vote. These franchises over the past fifty years sixty years. I mean i think phoenix has wondering a highest. Winning percentage is in the nba of among their best foot franchises. So these are not teams that have been perennial doormats. I know they've had their moments. But over the course of what. I call the walk in the desert. That the wizards have done these through franchises. Have one more than they've lost a lot. That's interesting it doesn't if you would said that. Five or six years ago. I would've said yeah. I mean because the sun's always seemed to be in the postseason. They've had good teams they had. They don't go to the finals. But they're they throughout the seventies and eighties and nineties and they were always in the mix but they've been terrible for the last nine years so i'm looking up the all time winning percentages of nba teams. And if you take out like you know some of the teams that were only around for a cup of coffee. Yeah phoenix is. T- is basically if you take out One two three teams because they are you know. That's that's a tough flight. I think i told you this story not to make this even remotely about me. But i'm gonna tell you this quick story the when. I traveled a lot for work and there was like a fourteen year period where i was on the road on average three to four days a week pretty much but i literally one day flew out to seattle for meeting flew back and had to be backed by the following morning for a meeting back here. That's that that is a now. I was younger and it's not. It wasn't a big deal. But i remembered that was about as long as you can be on a plane and a twenty four hour period. Unless you're just flying. You know to me the we. My in laws lived in sydney for a few years My brother-in-law sister-in-law lived in sydney and we went over to see them and like by the way. I know you loved sydney. I loved sydney as well but That's the longest trip was twenty four hours door to door. It was six to lax. And then you know another you know. After a two hour layover and other fifteen and then you know an hour after that to get to the house. Whatever was was twenty four hours door to door that trip but when we first went over my oldest was a newborn i mean he was. He was a year old less than a year old. And that that flight out to la he was skiing. I mean it was not pleasant crying the entire time it was a disaster and the people sitting around us they wanted they wanted to kill us and at one point three or four hours into the flight i just said i said look you know We really really apologized for this. But you know if it's any solace to you guys For those of you flying onto sydney. So are we in. He'll be with us for another fifteen hours all right. Let's get to some sports. I wanna start with the game last night because that was the first competitive. Nba playoff game. We've had two and a half weeks. I think i said this to you the the other day that it had been a while and i think i'm the nba play-off Buzz that i was feeling anyway. In some of you're feeling most of you not had sort of worn off because the games were noncompetitive for two and a half weeks in the first. Three games of this series were blowout games. Last night was far different last night i thought was a really compelling nba championship game. Two teams that were desperate played in a very hostile environment. The milwaukee crowd has been great. The phoenix crowd was great. You know these are two cities. These are two cities that have really loved tommy for a long period of time. Their teams you know. The the sons are the number one product in phoenix. They're the team that was has been there the longest long before the cardinals or the d backs or or the hockey team showed up. The phoenix suns were it. Milwaukee won a title. They had kareem playing for them in the early seventies oscar playing for him. You know these are two cities that actually love. Nba basketball and so it's been forever for both of these cities in the finals in their into it. You can see both of these cities into it by the way. Have you noticed that our boys abe is like mr nba. And mr milwaukee now. Yeah i not.

And i just assume you're always available when i need you and i shouldn't assume that that's rude and inconsiderate and i really for whatever reason this morning. I told you tan in part. Because i needed to get the show done quickly today. 'cause i'm playing golf this afternoon and And i had the day off from radio We could've started earlier. But i was a. I'm dealing with something right now. This is not my excuse. It is an excuse but it's not You know tried it. Try to make the apology. Seem less than than sincere. I was dealing with a verification of my. Id issue which now is all done. You know technologically where you take a picture of your passport and then you upload it to something and then they tell you oh it was too blurry you gotta get it more in focus in the you get more and then and then you gotta take a selfie. So your picture matches the thing. And i'm going through this thing for seven times in a row. It's telling me you're verifications. I has has passed. Your ide- has been legitimized or whatever verified and and then i get an email immediately saying you have to do it again It didn't work. It didn't come through and the reason. I'm doing this by the way just As an aside. I've mentioned before we're moving. Ins being or something it's not We're moving and we're not going to be able to move into our new house on time but we're going to have to be out of our current house so we have to go into a a one month furnished rental for a month and which is fine. I actually looking forward to it. It's like total low maintenance living which as my wife said you're gonna fall in love with this place in not wanna leave but anyway The whole technological technology around this. I ended up calling the company in this. This nice nice girl. Heather called me back in said yet would appear as if the picture of your passport is just too blurry when it's coming through and i said well why wire they why do they keep verifying it. You know through the setup but then after the fact saying no. It's not good enough not giving me an explanation. I said i've done this seven times and you know i. It's getting very frustrating. I'd really like to lease this property. But can i just take a picture of my passport and just text it to you right now and you handle the rest of it know that it can't happen that way. It's gotta go through the verification system but it has to be a more clear picture tommy. I've taken this picture of the passport. Thirty seven different ways thirty seven different ways because when it does when it isn't clear enough they immediately tell you Europe you're verification couldn't be Verified it if appears blurry you have to get more focus and so i would get it more in focus and then it would be accepted but for whatever reason it's really not being accepted anyway.

"What he didn't realise it wasn't going to be a typical all star game that they were going to be playing the usa. Women's bet national basketball team as a tuneup for for that team to get ready. I guess for the olympic. I'm looking at right now. The games actually been played but continue. It was gonna be a far more competitive game. Then a typical star game which you know is just basically lots of fun. Lots of scoring but You know this has got to be competitive tech. So he wound up by the time. I guess the game went off dropping. His is over under by fifty points so he missed on the number that he wanted to put it out by. How many points. Well he put out a number of issue. I think with like two hundred and forty eight over under. That's a i think that's a big w have no idea to be honest with you. I don't i don't follow. Wnba numbers that's not that unusual in the nba. This past year to see totals skyrocketing towards that level in fact that it makes me interested to go back to see what some of the wizards totals were but go ahead. He put it out at two forty eight. You said because it's an all star game of course and which which are usually much more high scoring that's true but because because it was going to be against the us women's national team is going to be wnba all-stars against the team. That's trying to get ready for to play in the olympics. It was going to be much more competitive than normal people. People on one side of the ball. We're going to be playing. Their heart is to try to win. You know so. That would change the outcome. I think it wound up going off like one hundred and ninety seven or something like that with the overrun. So he dropped fifty point. 'cause i guess he's on her man. Yeah of course yet. Nope notes spread or total moves. Fifty something points. The final score of this game by the way was ninety. Three eighty five so one seventy eight. It came in as the total so way way under whatever total he initially put out and way under the revised total as well But it's an interesting story. And i emailed to see i think it's on. Espn yeah a little bit behind the curtain about how these things on full time. When was the nba all star game. I'm looking to see what the total was for the nba. All start again. I gotta look it up by date. Was it in june or did we start the plant since we started the playoffs in june. God this is weird. Mark february probably february and it was probably in february. I mean it was such a monumental. I can't believe i don't remember. Yeah i can't. I can't remember it either. Whatever 'cause i think the total for that is probably was probably going be close to like two eighty or to ninety may be an all star game. I would think so. I do wanna actually try to find that because it's usually well. It's usually like the week after the super bowl. But i think it was later this year. Whatever who cares just wanted. I just wanted to flex some gambling muslim. Did you just did. I mean it. Wasn't you know it wasn't an impressive flex but it was a flex non the less but by the way i'm gonna i'm gonna open the show. We've already opened the show. I'm going to get to very early in the show. I'm going to apologize to you. And you don't even know what i'm going to apologize for. Do you have no. You have no idea. What i'm doing is i mean. I'm sure you believe there are many things that i should be apologizing to you for but it does anything. Jump to mind right away now. Okay what time did i tell you to be ready to do. The show this morning Ten o'clock what time is it right now. It is Ten fifty.

"Ever you know if nothing else askar one thing. That is a really nice thing that you could say to. Kevin is congratulations on finishing your first novel because no matter how bad it is or what kind of feedback he gets when you say first novel. Hey it's your first book. It's your first try. It reminds him that this is the place that he's growing from that the next book is going to be better. No matter how good this current book is the next one is going to be even better and he will learn things from there So you keep that in mind and also keep telling your back pocket in case we need a little compliment that's not fully compliment because it doesn't actually complement anything. That happened yet. that's really nice train. I like the idea of being clever and a nice way. Ooh congrats on your first novel. Because then kevin will be like my what. I'm going to be prolific. thank you. Let's so nice of you to think that when you make starting out making mistakes getting messy when you when you make those things sound appealing it is just such a favor to do for somebody because we people you know people who have normal amounts of insecurity i would say we can sometimes beat ourselves up for. How bad are i. try is. Don't be the person who beats up. Kevin on his first try. Yeah yeah 'cause that that'll probably the world will do that. I feel caggiano. That's a good point. I feel like that doesn't have to fall to you as a friend. You know if you get a ton of rejection letters that he can learn the lesson that way. He doesn't need to learn the lesson through a friend that's not. I don't think that's a role for a friend to take on. Yeah and if he does get all those rejection letters reminding him that. This book was so good that for a moment you forgot how full your schedule wise. And you almost told him. You wanted to sign on as editor. That's how good the idea was. That's that's a nice thing to say. Yeah yeah just because there's no compliments to govern in this in this note to us which is fine but make sure there's a couple supportive comments. I think Going forward like bureau editor. In this case the next time we reach out to kevin mix sprinkle and some niceties. You know i. I don't think. I don't think that'll cost you very much. And you know ask her. Honestly you're doing okay. I'm really glad that you came to us with this. Rather than saying. Hey kevin i have a list of every error and I have it all collated for you. And i'm gonna sided under your cubicle door for whenever you are ready to peruse. You didn't do that you are. You've already put a lot of thought into this. And you care about how kevin feels and man. That's a great place to start from and if you ultimately decide that you don't want to do this for any reason like i don't have the time or i don't trust myself to be not too harsh on this. I expect kevin will totally understand. You can say you can say something like so awesome that you've finished a whole novel. That's incredible. I can't personally give this time. It deserves but i'm rooting for you. That's a really good. That's a really good response. Jen i really like that the time it deserves that just feel so like oh you feel like my project deserves your time. That's very special. Thank you doesn't that feel good to hear like plus you know. There's there's usually compensation involved anyway but true but it's it's also true to say like route retired and i don't have hours to kill. I'm reading your novel. I'm sorry buddy. Yeah and honestly the fact that kevin shared this work with a multitude of people. You're not the only one kind of tips us off that your opinion while very very valuable. It's not the only one so he will not be without at any lack of opinions at any point in this process. So if you want to keep your opinions to yourself you absolutely can. And i don't think that would be harmful. Oh that is such good advice. Trinh man yeah. I feel like we haven't touched on that in a while on our show like sometimes friendship is keeping your opinions to yourself. Yeah so we're ready for an conclusion. Then jen jen. You want to start us off on the in conclusion. Yeah let me think okay. Sorry in conclusion is here is that we want you to spend some time digging a little deeper into the the how this came up the why this came and we want you to ask yourself like should i. Should i do this. And if i do this at my one hundred percent what is what were. The potential fallout or consequences of that. Like what if. What if i hurt kevin's feelings and he never wants to write again. Thank to give a range of possibilities of what what can happen. What go right. What could go wrong. Yeah and there's no planning for every scenario so at some point you're going to have to get more information from kevin and whether that's you thinking back into the distant past when kevin asked you to read this book what did kevin actually say to you and then also follow up questions. Like what exactly are you looking for here kevin. Are you looking for lots of nitpicky grammatical help. Do you want me to just kind of have a look at the concept and let you know what i think. Give him some options and i. I really think that this is a kind that you're doing for kevin. You are reading the work of his heart. And you're putting a lot of thought into how you deliver the the your opinion keep doing it. Keeping thoughtful You are no matter. What on the right track. That's a good point. I just want to quickly acknowledge like the fact that the askar hit the pause button on this is very indicates. A lot of kindness and thoughtfulness. That's pretty great. Yeah like at the very least. The askar cares about kevin's feelings which poor kevin. This has been friendship ing with jen trend..
