"This is NASCAR. Live now back to Mike Bagley. Welcome back to the spar. Live America's having some tough conversations right now NASCAR is no different. We've all seen the news and the inequality that plagues our nation, and we've seen the responses leading to protests that's taken a stance and so have the drivers Kurt Becker takes us through NASCAR's acknowledgement of social injustice. Over the weekend in Atlanta the NASCAR community came together showed it support for racial equality and pledged to advocate for change for the field went into cup series cars were held at the start finish line in silence while NASCAR President Steve Phelps address teams by Radio Communication. Our occurred new better. Our country want to do better than time out to listen to understand. TO STAND AGAINST RACISM RACIAL GENDER. Race with leadership from Nascar seven-time champion Jimmy Johnson drivers worked together to make a video titled Who Will Listen and learn our differences should not divide us. It is our love for all mankind that will unite us as we work together to make real change to make real change as we work together to make real to each. Johnson explained why he felt making the video together was important. Our just really proud of drivers who got involved a modestly of NASCAR and what they did, but you know it's been a personal journey on a much deeper level this week for me to listen and learn, and as a striker started chatting about the week and experience in love, this was led by bubba really have to a ton of credit including ty dillon accountability to those to really put on the garage area from me directly on me, but I can just see the made made a difference in, and I think that resonate with a lot of people. In a long time this learning this week, and that message ring clear with many of my other driver friends in kind of found that message, and that was message that made it the the video. This video came on the heels of a powerful conversation between tied Dylan and NASCAR is only African. American Cup driver Bubba Wallace, that was seen on both their instagram channels and NASCAR's facebook. Both Dylan and Wallace grew up racing together. It's it's tough to say I I. Know why I'm here. I'm competitive I. Drive and no one's ever GONNA. Take that away from me. But it's every day. It's every day on my on. My mentions that that I am here because I'm black and. To the point where I just laugh now because they outlawed. Before the race on Sunday ty dillon shared by, he thought it was important to have that conversation with Bubba to hear the stories about how the help Bubba was treated in some of those situations and knowing bubbas character, knowing him as a human being that blew my mind because I never thought I just would have never thought. Bubba as a person would have gone through anything like that. Why can't we empathised to learn more and hear the stories so that we can help make a change have the right verbiage in our communities in our groups so that this problem doesn't continue on. Big Stars spoke out over the weekend, including Bonner quick trip, five hundred winner Kevin Harvick, who was part of the? We will listen and learn video for me. It's it's. You know they're just they're just. Some something has to change I. Think when you look at what happened in in Minnesota is disgraceful to to everyone to to able to have conversations about things. I'm definitely a person that wants to your plan. That has actions included an anxious try to support each other, and do the things that we can do to to try to help our communities and. Help the conversations because there's so much that everyone doesn't understand of what we need to do, and how we need to do it, but I can tell you that we need change Martin. Direct junior also spoke out following a third place finish. With the events over the past. Couple of weeks. You know that kind of brought it to to everybody's attention. Obviously, so you know hate the things that I've I've been seeing. You felt like when they were organizing a put. That video together feel like. It's something I needed to do. Just because of you know feeling so awful about how these things have have gone and so Yeah, that's all in. I'm not sure why why it's all happened here I don't know if everybody went crazy for being cooped up from the corona virus, or what, but it's Kinda crazy time hopefully there. Hopefully, these crazy times are getting ready to be over with and. And his teammate Kyle, Busch explained why the time is now to speak for all the other drivers and us all together, and and just having a say, we wanted to put out a powerful statement in a message, and so I feel like we all did that together with nast far in in went well from our standpoint, so we're happy to be able to do that and show our support on time for us to take initiative, but also to listen and learn in in. A statement released on June first NASCAR highlighted the importance of listening more and being united into stand against racism, hatred and senseless violence and loss of life. The state concluded by saying we must do better and our commitment to promoting equality and inclusion continuous and will never wave. Thank you Kurt we can all thou to do better as a sport, and we will coming up grant finger to me about his Atlanta win and later Brad. Keselowski will join us. Sir Are you were. You were going forty miles an hour? This is a residential area. Sure but I'm on my lawnmower with getting a ticket. No, I've just never seen anyone top nine miles an hour on one of those bad boys and mother, attire lawn and thirty seconds. Click cut into you well. It did fuel up at Sonoko this morning at Sonoko. "I had in my mind I was like. Please don't let that happen again. I know you're working with NBC sports, and you stepped away from full time driving. If they were to come to you and want to feel the car for you, would you? Would you accept that opportunity? Would you look for an opportunity? Did this did this win? Saturday increase the appetite to get back on the car on a regular basis. Well this year! You know I'm I'm with NBC sports so once the season starts back up. I have the races that I still plan with. With colleague racing already said, and and that's what's great about NBC. Sports like you've worked with them, right? You know how. How good they are about. To do what we love to do so. That's schedule was set, and if there's open weekends and they want me to run ob, I'm going to do that, but. The races planned and and the things that I'm working for NBC Sports with those are set in stone so. you know next year? Opportunity being full-time. It definitely would. This race team has his piqued my interest again. After two thousand eighteen I thought there's no no way that I wanted to do that. Long of a season ever again but if I found with with Matt colleague in this Organization when you're having fun and sure, let's let's not get it wrong. Winning winning as we speak right now, winning makes everything fun, but just in general, being at the racetrack, being at the shop with with all the men and women here I really do enjoy it, and it would at least. Give me something to think about I would I can't tell you. Yes, or no right now, but I would definitely think about it. As Fair and I'm sure that they would welcome you considering recent successes and just a culture over there. And I'm sure a lot of your fans like to see a back on the racetrack as well before we let you go. There is a big moment at the start of the Cup race on Sunday Nascar is addressing social injustice. And there was a there was a message from NASCAR President Steve, Phelps and We saw a lot of of positive messaging coming out of the Atlanta weekend as as far as where this sport stands against social injustice. What were your thoughts about what you saw on Sunday and the sports stance right now going forward as it pertains to this. I, really thought with with especially with the time that we are in. Right now. WHAT NASCAR DID and and Phelps everybody at Nascar for setting that up. The driver's the industry It was fantastic, and it was much needed and. Right now, NASCAR being the forefront of of really. Just any sports on TV to be able to get that positive message out there. and to focus on. On all of us. As as men and women, just as people coming together. And focusing on the same thing that the. The right path equality. I thought it was done well and it was more importantly it needed to happen. So hopefully. This is something that as a sport and as an industry, and and just as people we can build on this. And help keep putting that same message, but more importantly putting it into action on a daily basis and. Just? All of us just generally come together and. twenty right now with the pandemic and the social injustice, a volatile time to live in, and we just need to all get together and focus on the right thing so I thought Nascar did a great job of that, but we have to keep putting that in action to make it happen. Agreed and well said my friend Becker will have more on this coming up here in just a couple of moments appreciate the time as always congratulations on the win will look forward to the next time we see on the racetrack. That'd be Sunday got one. Hundred Thousand Dollars Dash for cash, xfinity myself and Justin Haley. We got to four chance, so we go get that hundred grand, and you'll hear that race here on the motor racing network. Appreciate it. My friend safe travels. Thank you very much. That's. Winner from Atlanta more coming up on NASCAR live..

"Looking good out front here on this restart has lasted in his left side not able to do anything for Brad Keselowski continues to be covered however the light Roger the number four spot but maybe not for long he is feeling the heat from Martin Truex junior Truax put the wheel underneath them at the exit of war but couldn't find the momentum to stay there and held on to that response five forty selling what is the leading that top five cars coverages the leader Brad Keselowski the fight for third and fourth on the race track with Martin Truex junior in fifth the interested onlooker still those detail of past the start finish line they'll see what they can do it turns one into a work back down into the banking up harming everybody right against the outside all the way back writing your Darling said the ruling as they work their way down looks like and the reddit content of very solid run this afternoon cracked the top five at one juncture it's got a little bit of work to do to get back there but he's up to the number eleven positions per second Alex Bowman's inside Iraq does the second moment on a good run off with another form is able to make that movie is already stretched one moment already with a victory under his belt here in twenty twenty after winning the auto club four hundred at the auto club speedway of southern California that is only got I'm salivating for more last year was falling back to the rear bumper chase Elliott right and they worked on my side of so it looks pretty sporty right now right on the back Brad Keselowski near the common to turn number three all of a sudden appears to have himself a handful of race car not showing his speed and handling many did just a few laps ago he has fallen back now into the clutches of chase Elliott fraternity does have a little more about this time you're right about that I would run on the the nine laps to go here at Darlington and Kevin Harvick showing the way his advantage over second place Bowman about six car links Keselowski is third chase Elliott fourth Martin Truex junior rounds out the top five to Joe Gibbs Toyota is going out in turn one of the banking in turn writing in the outside wall the race for position down the backstretch and on the movies picked up three spots in the last five or six laps a moment ago he made his way past mac cans of now he is real but any Hamlin machine internal something we don't normally see program the outside wall is reading it is lower than the outside wall one minute that would be for sixth position Kurt Busch passed Clint Boyer further back Denny Hamlin still has his hands full Tyler Reddick now he's back where he's comfortable firewall Tyler Reddick much what would much prefer that outside line we know how well he loves to run up there about an inch off the outside safer barrier but Denny Hamlin knows that as well as we do go on Welsh and he's just not giving him out why just as well he's doing exactly what he needs is going to be in the way many options right Tyler Reddick the rookie the oldest driver on the two words as a full time competitor is Matt Kenseth they race nose to tail past the start finish line headed to turn one back in the call center Carling back this time and battle between Hamlin and reading for the night spot heats up again reddit closes on the N. three to one until we get off to them not necessarily the end of the afternoon type a scrape barely a mark on the race car and how much we've seen Tyler Reddick at homestead Miami speedway and other tracks like white Darlington where the closer you are to the top the faster you're going we said he'd seen him hit the wall three four five times and still win the race it's an art that these drivers have the ability to put the right rear corner of the race car literally an inch or two inches off of the wall and maintain their speed at a hundred and seventy plus miles per hour so it Tyler Reddick he's good at and that's how he's won back to back NASCAR Xfinity series championships now a full time competitor and a rookie of the year contender here in the NASCAR Cup series Martin Truex junior was fifth he's now fallen back to six had a new house is there a problem you go into the car was loose and then followed up with in most cases once you got a vibration it does not go away but every once in a while particularly on a track as abrasive as Darlington you'll pick up a chunk corroborate inspected that tire for a lap or two vibrate your molars loose and then just slop off and fly away they're hoping right now that that's the case for Martin Truex junior well if you're sitting on the beach there is such a thing as good vibrations but as a driver in a race car strapped in going a hundred and eighty five miles an hour I don't think there's such a thing as a good vibration and long as you're not about to break into song it's okay with me not going to happen okay two hundred thirty four laps complete two hundred ninety "And I've got two interviews here for you before we jump into Our regular programming with the guest. Brad Keselowski we also have a short interview with line. CEO Howard Hitchcock Howard is here to help educate everybody on some of the processes that go into line racing kind of educate everybody on what is coming. What is new the year in review for line racing and answer some questions that I think all of the Die Cast S.? Collectors will find interesting. Such as what goes into making your favorite die-cast what is coming for twenty twenty and also shedding some light on that promotion of telling you guys about for the last couple of weeks that Lionel Authentic Offenses Program where you can submit your die cast collection or stop motion video to line on instagram or twitter using that Hashtag authentic fan. So that is gonNA come up before we get into our conversation with guest Brad Kazlauskas Brad. Great Guests Isla Brad. Great Interview One of the best Interviews I think in the NASCAR garage but I feel like I blew this one. I've got to be honest with you guys and I'm sure you're going to give me feedback after this episode. I had gotten some time with Brad to record this podcast and I feel like I blew it. Brad was great. Brad is always great but I feel like I just was underprepared. And when you're underprepared for Breslau ski you Kinda feel like an idiot so this conversation sation again is great. Brad is great. I just underprepared in my questions. I should have had more. I should had better questions and I didn't do it so Maybe you guys will feel differently. Please tell me what you think. Interview but Brad was wonderful so brad just wrapped up his tenth full year the Nascar Cup series so we reflect on that we talk about the rules package. We talk about Kinda I know what has been the highs and lows for the team. This year he won a couple races made the playoffs but did not advance to the championship for and he's only done that one time in his career so really Kinda missile searching on how to get through the playoffs and get back to that title race so we talk about a bunch of different things kind of cover a wide variety of ground with Brad. But again I just feel like I could have been better could have better questions had more questions to better fill out the time that I had with Brad Keselowski to footnotes for this interview. You're going to hear two do things in the podcast. The first is Brad says he wants to get to thirty wins and I didn't correct him at the time because I knew he had thirty wins. But I didn't WANNA correct wrecked Brad on what his numbers weren't so Brad says he has twenty nine. Brad actually has thirty Career Cup series win so we're going to have to correct him on that he's already hit the number that he's been searching for he wants to get to that thirty win mark that's one of the things on his list of accomplishments. The second footnote is we were talking about speeding. Penalties near the end of the podcast and Brad thought he had won. I thought he had one. We were thinking of Michigan. When in fact Brad went the entire two thousand nine hundred season without a speeding penalty so zero speeding penalties? I filled him in on that on twitter but Yeah not twenty nine. Thirty wins for the driver of the team. So let's get to it again. The first conversation you're going to hear is with myself. And Howard Hitchcock Hitchcock of Lionel kind of running through some questions again to kind of educate people online all the process and things have been going on for them so anybody who is a collector. Elector is really going to enjoy that. And now we're going to jump into our conversation with two thousand twelve NASCAR Cup series champion Brad Kozlowski. So let's get too busy week. Here on the racing writers podcast.

Blaney, Keselowski, Logano detail Roger Penske's Hall of Fame pursuit of perfection

"You would be hard pressed to find anyone more respected in the garage area than Roger Penske says competitor and friend Rick Hendrick of Hendrick motorsports. As one of my best friends, I have nothing but respect for him what he's accomplished is unbelievable role. It's unbelievable to see someone that can win and Formula one and and open wheel and and went all the championships. And do the things he thought I don't know how he doesn't. He's a perfectionist. Then as again, I I admire him in. Poll them in the high regard the motor racing network. Congratulates the newest member of the NASCAR hall of fame Roger Penske. All three of Roger Penske's Cup series drivers drove to victory lane in two thousand eighteen and one of those drove to a championship Joey Logano in its tenth full time season in the Cup series is going to win the two thousand eighteen zero man, I honestly, I I would have thought he'd been inducted into the hall of fame along before this after seeing what he's given to our sport into our community. You know, I think it's one of the best kept secrets in our sport. Sometimes you forget when you watch these videos of all the race ones. You forget that he built a lottery strikes. You forget that you know, his whole businesses built them on racing. You know, he's here we had our fiftieth anniversary of NBN racing years ago. Now, you know, so what a great honor for him to to be able to to be inducted into. You know, what is the biggest award? You can get in our sports. So I'm so excited to be there. Into watch it and to be part of that. And it couldn't come at a better time after you win a championship. And then you cap it off with being inducted into the NASCAR hall of famers is that it's well deserved for a man that has a big heart. But also won't you won't ever.
