"This is NASCAR. Live now back to Mike Bagley. Welcome back to the spar. Live America's having some tough conversations right now NASCAR is no different. We've all seen the news and the inequality that plagues our nation, and we've seen the responses leading to protests that's taken a stance and so have the drivers Kurt Becker takes us through NASCAR's acknowledgement of social injustice. Over the weekend in Atlanta the NASCAR community came together showed it support for racial equality and pledged to advocate for change for the field went into cup series cars were held at the start finish line in silence while NASCAR President Steve Phelps address teams by Radio Communication. Our occurred new better. Our country want to do better than time out to listen to understand. TO STAND AGAINST RACISM RACIAL GENDER. Race with leadership from Nascar seven-time champion Jimmy Johnson drivers worked together to make a video titled Who Will Listen and learn our differences should not divide us. It is our love for all mankind that will unite us as we work together to make real change to make real change as we work together to make real to each. Johnson explained why he felt making the video together was important. Our just really proud of drivers who got involved a modestly of NASCAR and what they did, but you know it's been a personal journey on a much deeper level this week for me to listen and learn, and as a striker started chatting about the week and experience in love, this was led by bubba really have to a ton of credit including ty dillon accountability to those to really put on the garage area from me directly on me, but I can just see the made made a difference in, and I think that resonate with a lot of people. In a long time this learning this week, and that message ring clear with many of my other driver friends in kind of found that message, and that was message that made it the the video. This video came on the heels of a powerful conversation between tied Dylan and NASCAR is only African. American Cup driver Bubba Wallace, that was seen on both their instagram channels and NASCAR's facebook. Both Dylan and Wallace grew up racing together. It's it's tough to say I I. Know why I'm here. I'm competitive I. Drive and no one's ever GONNA. Take that away from me. But it's every day. It's every day on my on. My mentions that that I am here because I'm black and. To the point where I just laugh now because they outlawed. Before the race on Sunday ty dillon shared by, he thought it was important to have that conversation with Bubba to hear the stories about how the help Bubba was treated in some of those situations and knowing bubbas character, knowing him as a human being that blew my mind because I never thought I just would have never thought. Bubba as a person would have gone through anything like that. Why can't we empathised to learn more and hear the stories so that we can help make a change have the right verbiage in our communities in our groups so that this problem doesn't continue on. Big Stars spoke out over the weekend, including Bonner quick trip, five hundred winner Kevin Harvick, who was part of the? We will listen and learn video for me. It's it's. You know they're just they're just. Some something has to change I. Think when you look at what happened in in Minnesota is disgraceful to to everyone to to able to have conversations about things. I'm definitely a person that wants to your plan. That has actions included an anxious try to support each other, and do the things that we can do to to try to help our communities and. Help the conversations because there's so much that everyone doesn't understand of what we need to do, and how we need to do it, but I can tell you that we need change Martin. Direct junior also spoke out following a third place finish. With the events over the past. Couple of weeks. You know that kind of brought it to to everybody's attention. Obviously, so you know hate the things that I've I've been seeing. You felt like when they were organizing a put. That video together feel like. It's something I needed to do. Just because of you know feeling so awful about how these things have have gone and so Yeah, that's all in. I'm not sure why why it's all happened here I don't know if everybody went crazy for being cooped up from the corona virus, or what, but it's Kinda crazy time hopefully there. Hopefully, these crazy times are getting ready to be over with and. And his teammate Kyle, Busch explained why the time is now to speak for all the other drivers and us all together, and and just having a say, we wanted to put out a powerful statement in a message, and so I feel like we all did that together with nast far in in went well from our standpoint, so we're happy to be able to do that and show our support on time for us to take initiative, but also to listen and learn in in. A statement released on June first NASCAR highlighted the importance of listening more and being united into stand against racism, hatred and senseless violence and loss of life. The state concluded by saying we must do better and our commitment to promoting equality and inclusion continuous and will never wave. Thank you Kurt we can all thou to do better as a sport, and we will coming up grant finger to me about his Atlanta win and later Brad. Keselowski will join us. Sir Are you were. "I had in my mind I was like. Please don't let that happen again. I know you're working with NBC sports, and you stepped away from full time driving. If they were to come to you and want to feel the car for you, would you? Would you accept that opportunity? Would you look for an opportunity? Did this did this win? Saturday increase the appetite to get back on the car on a regular basis. Well this year! You know I'm I'm with NBC sports so once the season starts back up. I have the races that I still plan with. With colleague racing already said, and and that's what's great about NBC. Sports like you've worked with them, right? You know how. How good they are about. To do what we love to do so. That's schedule was set, and if there's open weekends and they want me to run ob, I'm going to do that, but. The races planned and and the things that I'm working for NBC Sports with those are set in stone so. you know next year? Opportunity being full-time. It definitely would. This race team has his piqued my interest again. After two thousand eighteen I thought there's no no way that I wanted to do that. Long of a season ever again but if I found with with Matt colleague in this Organization when you're having fun and sure, let's let's not get it wrong. Winning winning as we speak right now, winning makes everything fun, but just in general, being at the racetrack, being at the shop with with all the men and women here I really do enjoy it, and it would at least. Give me something to think about I would I can't tell you. Yes, or no right now, but I would definitely think about it. As Fair and I'm sure that they would welcome you considering recent successes and just a culture over there. And I'm sure a lot of your fans like to see a back on the racetrack as well before we let you go. There is a big moment at the start of the Cup race on Sunday Nascar is addressing social injustice. And there was a there was a message from NASCAR President Steve, Phelps and We saw a lot of of positive messaging coming out of the Atlanta weekend as as far as where this sport stands against social injustice. What were your thoughts about what you saw on Sunday and the sports stance right now going forward as it pertains to this. I, really thought with with especially with the time that we are in. Right now. WHAT NASCAR DID and and Phelps everybody at Nascar for setting that up. The driver's the industry It was fantastic, and it was much needed and. Right now, NASCAR being the forefront of of really. Just any sports on TV to be able to get that positive message out there. and to focus on. On all of us. As as men and women, just as people coming together. And focusing on the same thing that the. The right path equality. I thought it was done well and it was more importantly it needed to happen. So hopefully. This is something that as a sport and as an industry, and and just as people we can build on this. And help keep putting that same message, but more importantly putting it into action on a daily basis and. Just? All of us just generally come together and. twenty right now with the pandemic and the social injustice, a volatile time to live in, and we just need to all get together and focus on the right thing so I thought Nascar did a great job of that, but we have to keep putting that in action to make it happen. Agreed and well said my friend Becker will have more on this coming up here in just a couple of moments appreciate the time as always congratulations on the win will look forward to the next time we see on the racetrack. That'd be Sunday got one. Hundred Thousand Dollars Dash for cash, xfinity myself and Justin Haley. We got to four chance, so we go get that hundred grand, and you'll hear that race here on the motor racing network. Appreciate it. My friend safe travels. Thank you very much. That's. Winner from Atlanta more coming up on NASCAR live..

This year he won a couple races made the playoffs but did not advance to the championship for and he's only done that one time in his career so really Kinda missile searching on how to get through the playoffs and get back to that title race so we talk about a bunch of different things kind of cover a wide variety of ground with Brad. But again I just feel like I could have been better could have better questions had more questions to better fill out the time that I had with Brad Keselowski to footnotes for this interview. You're going to hear two do things in the podcast. The first is Brad says he wants to get to thirty wins and I didn't correct him at the time because I knew he had thirty wins. But I didn't WANNA correct wrecked Brad on what his numbers weren't so Brad says he has twenty nine. Brad actually has thirty Career Cup series win so we're going to have to correct him on that he's already hit the number that he's been searching for he wants to get to that thirty win mark that's one of the things on his list of accomplishments. The second footnote is we were talking about speeding. Penalties near the end of the podcast and Brad thought he had won. I thought he had one. We were thinking of Michigan. When in fact Brad went the entire two thousand nine hundred season without a speeding penalty so zero speeding penalties? I filled him in on that on twitter but Yeah not twenty nine. Thirty wins for the driver of the team. So let's get to it again. The first conversation you're going to hear is with myself. And Howard Hitchcock Hitchcock of Lionel kind of running through some questions again to kind of educate people online all the process and things have been going on for them so anybody who is a collector. Elector is really going to enjoy that. And now we're going to jump into our conversation with two thousand twelve NASCAR Cup series champion Brad Kozlowski. So let's get too busy week. Here on the racing writers podcast.
