"And lifestyle reporter Amy Werner joins us on the line from the French capital. Good morning, Amy. Good morning. Although for fashion, people, somewhat of a sad morning. It is really sad day given the unexpected death of cherry mugler. I mean, he was 74 and despite the fact that it's what a good two decades since he in official terms retired, he was so active and doing so much work. Well, there is a in fact currently at the museum in Paris. There is a retrospective on newsletter that really brought to new generation introduced a new generation to the extraordinary nature of his designs. Indeed, I mean, just describes them to us. I mean, this was a man who took the 1940s in the 1950s and reimagined them for the 1980s and cinched in wastes and grew shoulders and made things incredibly powerful and very sexy. And just to remind us of his great achievements from the 1980s and we'll move forward a little bit further into the last couple of years. I think you're absolutely right. His silhouette was very unmistakable. And some people describe it as almost triangle shaped because it was very exaggerated in the shoulders with a waste that seemed almost impossible. But I think in many people's minds, new glare, she embodied the golden age of 80s audacious sexy verve provocation. There was this idea that he could merge fine couture tailoring with kind of a kink even. Somewhat fetishist. And he wasn't afraid to depict women this way. And as a result, he gave women a sort of persona of. Very daring, very bold, very self empowerment called it. And, of course, there was continued until very, very recently as well. By all accounts, he was going to announce new collaborations this week. And it's not so long and since he squeezed Kim Kardashian into something dripping with its diamonds, but it certainly sparkled a couple of years ago at the Met Gala. And many pop stars and celebrities were embracing his vintage designs too. There was a rediscovery of how truly fabulous they were. So you were seeing his creations once again on the red carpet, even if he himself had sort of withdrawn to some extent from the fashion world, but then like I just said a moment ago, he was back. This exhibition really confirmed that. Let's move on to another really sad development in fashion. A Virgil abloh dying at the tender age of 42 just a few weeks ago. But in Paris, it was the opportunity to see his final collection for Louis Vuitton. Well, you know, really, it's a scene that seems to be percolating through the season because the other big news of the week was the revival of kenzo by a new designer nigo and kenzo also passed away last year. So you have two major designers, different generations who have left us. But at the same time, these were two of the most palpably energetic shows of the season people really came out to sometimes you hear this word celebrate. But there was a sense of honoring of celebration and of finding what their contributions were and really putting bringing those to the four. It was something to absolutely save or wasn't it every time version of blue created a new season of new collection. Many saying that he was, you know, he was representing a generation that hadn't been represented before. Indeed. I mean, he didn't see any walls between generations. He actually towards the end, didn't see walls between genders. This most recent collection had men in heels. He said at one point, we are a generation that's searching for what rules to break or which rules are the real ones. And I think that really drives home how he wanted to take a house like Vita and bring it to a whole other level. Finally, briefly, tell us about Pharrell Williams and the most amazing almond shaped pair of sunglasses that he was wearing in Paris. Well, it really was a key. We don't know that much about them yet, but these as you point out, often shaped in circled by diamonds with a little emerald drop at each temple, Tiffany has been in the midst of a crucification of sorts. There is this Beyoncé and Jay-Z, there are other collaborations in the works. New spokespeople. And when phrase showed up. But the kenzo show yesterday wearing these glasses that sunglasses. We're on the verge of couture begins today. So there couldn't have been a better bridge in some sense between the menswear shows and the haute couture that really will get underway in the next hours. Thank you so much for joining us on Monaco 24. That's all we have time for today's program, many thanks to our producers. Marcus hippie and Charlie filmer court are researchers Sophie monaghan combs and lilian faucet and our studio manager David Stevens. After the headlines there's more music on the way, the briefing is live at midday in London, the globalist is back at the same time tomorrow I hope you can join me for that. But for now, from me Emma Nelson goodbye. Thank you very much for listening. Have a great week..

"They were, I think that their complexion products were amazing, their foundations were amazing, but that wasn't sexy and they kind of reinvented themselves in Estee Lauder bought them in 2016 and they became really popular for highlighters and they did lots of collaborations with their highlighters. I think the most famous one was with the influencer Jacqueline hill and champagne pop. So that was a collaboration, a brand collaboration. And when they announced that they were closing, a lot of people, a lot of the fans were really shocked and surprised, how could this happen? But a lot of insiders kind of saw this coming because she also had been declining, could have been because of the pandemic, but it could have been because of a rush to create all of these different collaboration products. And we can unpack a lot with collaborations with cosmetic brand collaborations and how well they do. There's a lot to impact. We won't go there, but we lost Becca in 2021 and I loved opal. I don't know how I'm gonna update all of my blog posts where I recommended Becca opal that was my highlighter it wasn't as good as Tony and Tina, nothing has come close, but that was kind of the next best thing. So we said goodbye to Becca, we also said goodbye to prescriptive. Now, please, please, please. If you loved prescriptive, please send me a message. Can we just be best friends because prescriptive was my original gangster foundation? They were the very first liquid foundation that I wore and they were kind of one of the first cosmetic brands that would match you and mix your foundation right in front of your face custom to your skin tone. So they were all about color theory and they were doing this in the 90s and it was great. It was great. They were a great brand. They had a really awesome foundation brush, by the way, I have two of them. They are still holding up very well, here, like 20 years later, I don't know, 20 years later. We had to say goodbye and they just couldn't hang. The beauty industry is a rough place and I think this is something that is so interesting to me. I find the acquisition and the selling of companies and growth. I find this so interesting and fascinating. In my book, if you have a copy of my book, I even have a section about the business of makeup so that you can understand how it works so that when you go out and buy products, you can make educated decisions of, okay, this product is owned. They do their own in-house research and development. This brand was acquired by L'oreal or SD lauder or this brand was acquired by Cody or kenzo or Louis Vuitton. So anyways, when you know all of the different brand families and you know where your favorite makeup products fall in these big brand families or if they are still doing everything on their own, then you can make really educated decisions and also make educated decisions on where you want to spend your money. So it's fascinating if you don't have a copy of my book or go grab it, you can get it at my shop. You can get it on Amazon..

Berlin new york a monaco but he also bought a lot of stuff and then gave it away or sold right after he bought it. He said he likes collecting things. He liked the hunt but he changed his mind a lot. Apparently he sold his collection of eighteenth century. French furniture and art work and christie's in the year two thousand and made over twenty eight million dollars off of it and he did it because he just wanted to change furniture. He's just like i'm tired of this. I wanna change furniture. Let's get rid of all of whom what life every time. I want to change my furniture. I look at my cat. Who still has claws. She likes to put in my current furniture. And i say not while you're alive baby girl love you lab but i cannot take this risk. That's a pretty big auction. Wow i wanna go. I want like oh my god. I think this is so much fun. Recipe carl repelled. But like i love when someone's ordinary things be in your home. Oh like granted. A lot of this will be too rich for my blood but there will be items here that people will get who are fans of him and fans of his work and they'll be able to get this little like remembrance of him that they'll be able to have in their home and i think that's really cool. I'm really interested in his library. They didn't mention books. He collected so many books and amazing art books. I'm very curious to what happens to that part of his collection. I mean you see pictures of his home to the ceiling in our just books books. I am really fascinated and interested in what happens to those. I want to go. But i should save my money. I don't have money for a rolls royces today. One day still maybe in the future maybe probably not. Should i be driving a rolls around florida. Probably not in tampa. Oh my gosh can you imagine imagine. Can you mass area. Let's let's go from luxury to luxury. I'm gonna give you another story about very fine things. Manalo blahnik is teaming up with the rest to offer repairs to choose. You can get your shoes. Resold revealed even died fully refurbished. Whatever you need you might remember that. The registry which i pronounced incorrectly previously on this show is a service that repairs Mostly leather goods Like fine leather goods and In the past it's partnered with harvey nichols selfridges harrods and far-fetched to offer repairs for luxury items. You basically go through one of these You know department stores are retailers and you submit a request for repair through the restaurant and they give you a quote and you just ship things off. They ship them back. Easy peasy greasy with this partnership. You can order your repairs through the manila website in an interview with w w d founder and ceo of restri-. Vanessa jacobs said circular. Fashion can't happen without aftercare. We are already more than three times larger than we were this time last year and our business development pipeline is stronger than it's ever been. We are laying the foundations for global scale and everything from operations as technology etcetera etcetera and of quote. She noted This i'm now including wwe. She noted that providing services for a brand proactively at scale not reluctantly and on occasion is an entirely different way of doing business. Traditional linear models. So i will. I was a little confused by this. I really lived under the assumption. That if i pay like a grand for a pair of shoes i can walk into the same designers store and drop them off for a repair anytime not for free but for the confidence that i'm going to get them repaired by a pro right. I just assumed but that's not always the case for example. I went to the lubaton. Us site just to compare and see what they offered and they provide a list of shoe repair shops that they recommend customers go to but there are only about a half dozen and they're mostly in new york new jersey california. So if you're not near one of those you're kind of sol. Right so it may not be cheap to ship your manolas to the uk to have the restri- team refurbish them. But if you love your shoes it. It does simplify the process in a way that makes this aftercare that they're talking about a little more accessible to you and for you to be able to love your stuff longer and we talk a lot on the show about you. Know buying fewer things and using them more and this is a way that people of a certain price point can do that. Yeah and it sounds like there's going to be some growth but that company in the future. Yeah like this is one to watch lake. I wonder you know with this mention about how much they grow in the last year. I wonder if a lot of that was people were at home and they said things i want to get them. You know shined up. So i can use them when i can suddenly go out into the burning world but i love this. Love people taking care of the things that they own. It's it's how we should be thinking of legged. Can i mend it. Can i fix. It is or doesn't need to be given away recycled what can idea do so. I love that. People are thinking in this direction. I love this law. I hope that some day in my life i can send my own manolas end to get refurbished. I'm just i'm just manifesting y'all it works. You speak into truth. "Can tell you. What in the stockroom isn't still cream is what is all about the evenings pesos. Kalangas hang back absolutely nutty anyway. This article for the new york times. Detailing was occurred. It says for the first time since designer. Kenzo cut takata. Sorry resigned from his namesake label in one thousand nine hundred japanese designer will once again run the paris-based brand known for its multicultural. Efforts and energy. Nego wilder first superstars and indiaman collaborator multiple brands. Gray in good was named artistic director. The house a wednesday by lvmh moore moet hennessy. Louis vuitton kansas parent company. Which makes sense right considering the ever you a high as if done under the lvmh it makes complete sense that they will try and get somebody who already has a following. Who already has a legacy who already has a name already has cloud that they could then plug into kenzo in a hope that they could revive it Of course using some of their hose but mostly just taking whatever juice they have an brandon installing it under the kendall umbrella and and hopefully using as a jumping off point to then of a project so maybe down the line change direction but clearly wants to change the kind of maybe customers they attract into the store the way the stories presented stuff they do who lined with because this is a full head to toe redesign you think of what nego was doing during this heyday from the cafes to the people that were in the look books to the books that they did to the toys to the kids stuff like it was a complete a head to toe complete world. People say oh we create a world in fractional this kind of stuff mountains and it's just a t shirt no he was creating his own world that existed only where he was where the stores were. Everything merchandised how the interior design was done. It was just out of this world so you can imagine kenzo are really in this for the long game because when you hire someone needle you know hiring him just so he could be designed a couple of jackets and though these you'll redesigning you hiring him so that he can basically essentially changed the entire universe around kenzo in hopes that attract new audiences and to just make some more self sufficient but to kind of rewrite whatever stuff to ever that amendment it continues..

"Had one other friend who had also been placed on leave, and they thought they were the only ones. Fowler didn't know that while they were away, something was brewing on campus. Students were about to challenge the university's leave policy for students in a mental health crisis. Two of the student leaders pushing for changes where Kenzo and Molly Irvine They've gotten interested in mental health their first year at Stanford. When they trained as peer counselors. They took phone calls at the bridge, an anonymous helpline on campus staffed by students. This is Molly Irvine. I often felt in over my head just because the magnitude of people stress or people's Illness was so great. I mean, I remember my first months of counseling at the bridge. I had three suicide calls. Urban could refer callers to get professional help from Stanford's counseling and psychological services. But sometimes students told her they didn't want to let anyone at the university. No, they were in crisis. Cancer ran into that, too. There's a limit to how much you should share with the university because, like It's possible that that could lead to you being placed on a leave of absence. By the time they were sophomores, Zah and Irvine had dealt with a lot of these calls. They wanted to do something beyond helping individuals. They wanted to do something bigger. They wanted to change the landscape of mental health across San Francisco Bay and Berkeley attorneys disability rights advocates had been monitoring what was happening with student mental health on college campuses. Stewart Seaborn is one of the attorneys. We were shocked at how either bad or non existent some of the policies were when it came to accommodating students with mental illness. Seaborne explains that students with mental illness are protected.

Can you give me some insight. How as they're done or english georgia was pick number. Five is it. I think The people that make the polls in this case it was the coaches i think they. They voted at the end of last season. Because it's the same four teams. Always and i would have georgia rank higher. In fact i think georgia would would probably be their second or third on my list i think. But here's the good news. It really doesn't matter. What their rank because they have an opportunity to play the number two team in the country and if they beat them they will either be one or two the next weekend. I think we'll win more than ten games. Yes i do. I think this is going to be A record year for georgia price. So i probably so. I'm a huge georgia. Fan have been all my life. And i love. Exact not really yankee fan but always gonna go. Oh i can't go to science class today next thing you know. Oury some guy for the broncos. He's pretty cool to be. I remember fondly. The yankee parades. I'm thinking about this this milwaukee team. We were giving him their their perhaps the other day for being a great party team we were just looking at them right. Family guys you know. Maybe they'll go home. Turn on turn on luca something or you know just out with the kids. You guys really weren't giving them enough respect trying to look up flights from milwaukee to vegas lucky to fly to vegas while they were already at home. The only one that we thought was going to get it in dante depardieu even play in the last forty eight hours of de kenzo's life has just been mike cinemax after after today's like my normal life you're talking about which team you would like to celebrate with historically and you were going old school. I think i think when you think about it over the course of time historically the crazy party teams. When you think of eighty-six matt's i think immediately comes to mind with doc doc and consumes terrifying definitely make. I don't think i could get to the end of the and i. I'm willing to try like historically like i did any two guys have a better time through an iconic city than mickey mantle. Whitey ford like i just don't think fifties and early sixties new york. Joe dimaggio is out. It's now their team. Obviously no social media nightlife was just cigars and the amount of whisky and brandy. Those guys probably drank. Oh yeah just probably the greatest. And then they would wake up in the mic would hit two dinger's and white. He would throw eight strong with eleven ks one of the greatest time of their life. Like you said that was a great run for them. Probably not center around a specific world series. I don't feel like world series celebration. It was any different than tuesday night and it went on for a long butter. They played in the world series every year. So it was. Oh we're doing this again. Sadly it's also ended mickey's life at far too young passed away and a great time while new happening. You think of that eighty six. That's like i said he was probably terrifying. Another new york would have been fun to party with those although walt frazier teams imagine. How rolls royce back. Rolls royce backward of walt frazier and earl monroe out on the town. Dave bushehr fun. Time going to the nightclubs in new york. Mike and he's oh my outfits. Those guys wear sixties early seventies pound around with that. Joe nemeth. yeah you got jerry. Lucas duda memory tricks in the bar. On everybody's got a big big one on the giants o. l. I worked at a sports bar. Couple times probably crisscrossed with docking. There's a chance and eighty six. Yeah yes the showtime parties something to say. Wait till the gone. I would have hung out with the usc trojans in the early two thousands and it's just as much by the wayside teams any day of the week as someone hang out. Some of those guys were like they would walk into a bar in santa monica. No joke and they were like you. Michael jordan just walked in. It was unbelievable and tj with them. You know i was there a few times. That's why i asked have any keith. Rivers encounters from your your last movie. Didn't really know your keith rivers adjacent keep. That was friends with matt. So you know. Lambert was the king of los angeles for for a time so it was always interesting to kind of see housing of being bridge football star in a big time. Sports city. The other guys. They're playing and tuscaloosa. They're playing in madison. They're playing in college station. And that's amazing to be the big guy on campus there but to be the quarterback at usc. We just talked about positive talking about baseball. Like you are on myspace. Poverty like walk around here from penis and just base plan baseball. But i don't know why you should. Baseball came off good last night. Yeah other than the fact that it was in denver when it should have been in atlanta. I mean you're the guy who refused the watch any of the all star festivities. I don't you know that. I grew up diehard baseball fan and a mets fan of the many many. Okay i loved it and all that stuff you and your mom one hundred percent. We went my entire childhood. When you're forty years old so he he knew at a power bills but yeah and in the yankees and the playoffs and you know high went to with the the legends. Tickets and brought buddies a mile was awesome and those moments are great. But there's just so much that has happened in baseball this year. There's just turned me off. I just can't wait to get to october. Hopefully have two teams in there but it looks like only one right now. But that's really where i'll get back into it but it's been a rough year and i think there's a work stoppage comment quite all right. Well that that's in the future for me as a met fan the fact that my teams in first place. We haven't played all that great all that consistent. We have the best pitcher in baseball. We obviously have the best home run hitter in baseball. Always considers himself that as of last night. You know there's a lot look forward to plus the trade deadline's right around the corner. What would you say if they edit kris bryant from the unbelievable more adam frazier from the pirates barrios the twins. That'd be great. Let's see what happens. Kenzo over levittown levittown. According to second spectrum broke lopez did not get a lot of opportunities inside which i found kind of weird. You know you're gotta you gotta play brook lopez a lot in the series because you lost even kenzo you lost even though that means you're wing depth as even depleted further if you go small in the front court but brook. Lopez took only eleven shots. Five of those shots were a tip in offensive rebound attempt so he took only six real shot attempts and to those where those weird buzzer beaters at the end of the half and then at the end of the third quarter so in a normal possession. They only went to brook lopez four times. And i thought i'd see the bucks. you know. Use their size a little bit. More with some post ops or or just really like attacking the paint with size didn't didn't seal out of that so i think that's one of the adjustments that come to mind but i don't necessarily think that's the main thing is it. The problem is as you said. Kyle the nets. They're more than is so ball team. They beat you with cutting with ball movement and there were so many times in that game on north nets. Just getting whatever the heck they wanted with whoever they wanted from. So yeah you're right like shot. Allocation is a big part of it. I have a list of things that were bad. I mean we should talk about jeff t at some point. The jets burns harms. Couldn't i mean that run that i talked about where they went. Where you know brooklyn basically put milwaukee into panic mode and then or maybe not full blown panic mode but we're we're speculating a little bit. They pressed a little bit like you talked about which can lead to. They have some shock. Creators than in normal circumstances can dig holes quickly. Brooklyn is it's going to be a tedious Tenuous balance For them not to get into those rushed situations to be more patient. Because you know in the beginning of the game there. They're attempts by quarter in the paint. Nine for fifteen the first quarter six rate in the second four for seven and a third and five or six in the fourth so you can see that it just sort of slowly filtered tapered off as the game went on and i think a big thing for like middleton specifically of the six for twenty three a lot of those were those Just kinda dribble pull up shots that he takes early clock will you know. Katie is showing us that he is mobile in those ball screens situations getting up contesting him. There really bothering his body a lot. I noticed him complaining for fouls I think that they should continue to do those kind of weak side pin down things. They run with him where he's coming off. Maybe a couple screens getting into it with you. Know harris or bruce brown or kyrie getting into the middle. Maybe getting into line more like the free throws are a big part of this too. You know you would think that milwaukee would be able to generate a lot of free throws. There's a lot of things that just sorta roll downhill like getting in the land getting it up high on the glass so that you can really exploit that rebounding advantage that they have like jaanus and brooke but middleton flat out just has to play better. That's that's a big part of this for sure and middleton should be better moving forward. The bucks should shoot better from three their only six of thirty. And that's the big thing you know that milwaukee fans were talking about after the game like we're not gonna shoot this poorly again and probably won't i mean i think the flip side of it is you could say kevin durant kyrie were combined..

"Don't do you want to talk about his free throws test? Well, it has been a struggle. We have to document one for 10 the other night. His free throw shooting has really struggled the last few years. He's under 60%. Now this season. It's gone down each season as a professional, and nobody works harder than Yonas. You and I talk all the time when we see him. I just think his arm is too far extended. And you see everything Come up short like that one did Right there. Steady. Jeff Green had position on the long rebound off the miss and a foul by Milwaukee. The ball came out to Janni. Then you could see he was practicing once again to try to get that, for me is really struggling to manage. It came up short again. It's hard to explain on the radio, but if his arm is already extended is very tough to get the basketball that go as far as you wanted to go. So Brooklyn will bring it up to our right now trailing is Joe Harris catching shoot three and straight down the well for Harris shooting at 49% from three point land. It's good enough for 1/10 of the league. Here's the honest Gonna try it again. A three from straight on pops in and out, and even chancel had his hands on. It couldn't keep it on the near side and lost it at about Can you imagine if you're honest starts, knocking down three point shots. Nice rate 30% coming in 40. He'd be completely unguardable what All coaches have feared these last few years. Brooklyn with it. Leading 75 Jeff Green Right Corner, defended tightly by demon Kenzo Baxam to the mid post Right now. Fakes fates on the baseline gets the shot often scores. Jeff Green. That's a heck of a move right there. DiVincenzo did a nice job. Keep him out of the paint or point. Brooklyn leads even Chen's over three with an answer. On the other end. Left wing triple for Dante Jeevan Chan's already Milwaukee not knocking down shots testy, but they're getting quality looks, and that's my big concern with the Brooklyn Nets. With this move, 98 nets the lead hardened around a high screen from Jordan drives now flows. It floats it with the left hand short, but you took a peek out of the right side to see if Jordan was trailing him. He wasn't here's Yana. It's the other way I did ripped away by Jordan, but across the baseline Out of bounds will stay with the bucks. 8 41 left in the first You can see right now. Need a notary? There's an app for that
"Talking tech is brought to you in part by northwestern. University offered in partnership with north Western's Feinberg school of medicine. The program prepares students for emerging opportunities across the healthcare spectrum. Details are at SPS dot northwestern dot EDU slash informatics. Sometimes we need to have a document notarized and g where to do that. Do I really have to leave the house and go to some office, Bank, or whatever. Guess what? Folks, there's an app for that it's called notarize. And Pat, kindle is joining us on talking tech. Tell us all about it. Yeah. So notarize is the first platform that empowers anyone to sign notarized document on and it works. Exactly like, you might think you pull out your phone or you sign it online and you connect over video and you get a legally notarized document in minutes. Okay. And so it you basically using the webcam to to show show the signature, well, it's more than just a signature. So we do use the webcam. We do is we create a live face to face phone call between the customer and the notary, and then you've got a rich real time view of a document. And so in real time, you're signing it they're signing at they're applying a seal and stamp in the same fashion. They would in person just online they're watching you do that, you know, both you as the person physically, and the document, and then when they tamper seal it at the end it's done and you've got a PDF in today's digital world. Tell us how you know. What are we? What are we notarize ING? I'm remembering a real estate documents and things like that you tell me. Yes. Certainly real estate documents there. It's hard to get an estimate. No one really knows. But the national notary association, you know, they believe there's about one point two five billion notarize documents in the United States every year, and they touch really every industry and every sector, so it's you know, in private wealth. It's powers of attorney and beneficiary forms. It's standard commercial grievance that small business lending its authorizing your child. To travel without you. It's you know, healthcare forms. It's real estate certainly for sure. So they really touch every part of the of the economy and then people's everyday lives as well. And even in a digital world notary is not going away. We certainly don't think. So, you know, the reason why you get a document notarized. There are three is to ensure the person's properly identified signing under their own free will and they can be independently verified after the fact and really it's that second charge signing under your own free will and a lot of the legal standing around notaries ation is rooted in that if I read your fact correctly, it's twenty five dollars to get documents. Yeah, that's our retail pricing. And then for businesses we sell subscriptions. And then we have, you know, various business models, in some cases, a platform v another cases pricing discounts, and then in real estate, those are more complicated transaction, so we do charge, but more in if people listening wanna use it they go to the ups store and download the app. Yeah. You go to the app store on either, you know, your iphone or Android device. We've actually been featured by both apple and Google is one of the best new apps in the country and also from your computer, if you just go to notarize dot com, you can upload a document in.
