"Letting recency bias take hold for us because even with this, now he comes off the bench and he plays like 14 minutes a game and we're just not seeing the coast to coast like oh my God these dunked it from like three feet above the rim with his hand. We're just not seeing that much, not seeing as many as the my favorite bowl ball thing is when he switches onto a guard and lays back like ten feet and the guard's like, oh yeah, I got an open three and midway as they're the guard is jumping. You almost see it register on their face like uh oh. This is not gonna work out for me. He's gonna throw this back on my face. He played 87 minutes as a rookie. A 160 minutes in his second year. An 81 minutes last year and he's played 1389 minutes this year. Like you could still make an argument that just based on being a part of a team every day, he's kind of still belongs in the conversation. I still don't really know what he is 'cause he's not they don't play him at center. So he's not a center. He just, he gets guarded by guards all the time. Wings. You can't post up. He's too skinny. Like, I don't really know what he is, but he's interesting. I'm gonna say a few names and you decide, well, which one, if any you want to talk about. Okay. I already said Sam house's name he's not interesting to me. Apologies to Sam Hauser. Nick Richards. Jaren Jackson junior, Joshua kogi. Malik monk, which is going to be one that people maybe don't think should be on here. And that's fine. In my personal favorite of these say the names category. And we'll expose that I watched the rockets too much. Kenyon Martin junior, Kenny Martin junior is good. He's legitimately good as a three and a four. His three point shot is wobbly, but like everything else, he's like a legit pretty good player. No, I like the KJ Martin shout. What skill, I guess, would you highlight is being most improved from last year? As you noted, the three point shooting isn't it. I agree with you, but what would you highlight? He just feels more like a complete basketball player to me and not a chaos engine. Like he can switch across a lot of positions, he can move the ball, he can exist in transition, he's a cutter. He's a decent rebound. He just feels more stable to me and I got to bring I don't have the numbers right in front of me. I'm not sure if it's two point percentage is way up. I suspect it is, but he just feels more like a reliable player and a little less frenetic or his freneticism is kind of aimed in productive directions now. I got you. He was someone that I considered and ultimately didn't make my 23 person list. And I guess what's popped for me outside of just what he does at the rim on both ends. Is it feels like he's doing better connector things? And then I kind of had to safeguard with that and it's like, okay, is he doing better connecting things or is this just popping so much because only three people on that roster are willing to move the ball in the half court? It's rough. It's rough sometimes. And so you're right. Maybe competent fuel plays just stand out more on that team. He just feels more like a player to me than he did. 12, 12, 12 a game up from 9 last season. I don't know. It's just made by long list. Give me some other names that if you don't like any of those names, give me give me some other names and then we'll wrap. Oh, let's see. We can circle back to Nick Richards if you like. I would imagine not. Nobody wants here, let's talk about Nick Richards. I just wanted to say the name of a Charlotte hornets basketball player to let people in Charlotte know that I'm aware that the Charlotte hornets are currently playing basketball. I don't want to talk about Nick roach. He's fine. He and Mark Williams are kind of like a watchable center combination. That's the end of the hornets. Unless you have big breaking news about the hornets, I don't want to talk about them. Okay, well, no big breaking, just as the screen merchant on the podcast is one of the highlight how good that's been better as a finisher that concludes the Nick Richards talk on your podcast. We can stay in Charlotte within the Smith junior if you'd like. Nope. I think he's a great I think he's a great story and he's on my list. I also never, he falls into the category of if the NBA had a comeback player of the year award, he fits that to me better than most improved player because he's really matching or approaching even what he did in his first couple of seasons, so he was on my list, but I just feel like he's he kind of doesn't fit for me. Look, listen, tease time to do the aloe a little bit earlier. You mentioned these hurt just more downhill comfort career high in two point percentage will throw that note out there very quickly. Joshua kogi is an interesting name. Why did you I guess what growth have you seen? I offensive rebounding, which Phoenix is unleashed him to do, and he's done very well. And it's not quite there. I think he's like 34% on threes, but his number of attempts is like way, way, way up. So if he can approach league average on an actual volume of attempts and you've already seen the games at Doran has played, I think it's four or 5 games Duran has played. He's going to get ten wide open threes every game. 7 or 8 of which he's going to take and sometimes the difference in those games in the playoffs is going to be a does he make three or does he make one or does he make four? Does he make zero? And he's at least reached the point where on a wide open corner three, I feel kind of fine with him. Just letting it fly. Okay, that's weird. I'm glad that he's found a role offensively because I know the shot was always going to hinder him in terms of getting big minutes. And I'm glad that he's been able to crash the glass to the degree that he has and now you get to see what he does on defense. He's long been well I guess I don't want to oversell with long been a short career. But he's been one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA pretty much since the time he stepped on the court. It just he got afford to play them too much, so I'm glad he's found in a role in Phoenix. When he retires, some teams should hire him as like a closeout coach. Like this is really nerdy content, but he's one of those guys he can fly a hundred miles an hour to shooter, challenge their shot, but hit the brakes and that guy will try and drive on him and all of a sudden he'll be walling off the drum and be like, that's not supposed to be possible for you to go from like a hundred to zero to a hundred like that. It's your feet shouldn't be able to do that. I think deceleration in general is such an important microscale and basketball

So I am here and thank you rich and I know he's watching right now when he should just be sitting at the pool, but I'm John Sally, thank you. We are here on the greatest show of this whole this whole show. It's the greatest one right now because I'm hosting. And I'm sitting there with everybody else who didn't get to go home vacation. Right. After ten years, it's still no vacation. It's a vacation. You know what? This is a vacation. Imagine having to go to work. Chuck Daly used to say best, the greatest coaches in Detroit piston. He said, this beats working. Every time we got to practice, he goes, fellas, this beat to work and he is a 100% right. But welcome to the rich island. So this is going to be good. If you want to talk to us, you can call us at 8 four four two zero four rich and you can talk to somebody back there. And if you got an intelligent question or something who Adams back then, you can talk to Adam. He is going to be rallying all these different calls. We got so much to talk about. We got the NBA All-Star Game was yesterday. NBA weekend, which I think it should be a week and that's going to be a discussion. I think it should be a week a whole week. It should be an entire week and the players should come in on Friday. I think they should give the players a week off at least four days. They do have a week off though. There's not games until Thursday. Yeah. They really don't have a week off. They start acting like they're like, I saw a guy twist his ankle ish and was out for a while. They do that so they can save their bodies. But I think in the days when Michael Jordan, who were playing, you took no days off. So I think when they give them days off, should be the days that they take off. And it would be better for the league to putts. So much more could happen that week. Oh my God, you go to MB out that what is it they experience is great. The slam dunk. Just watching them how many things the NBA did. They did three on three, they did skills, three point slammed dunk. I think they had somebody doing eyebrows, celebrity game. That tells me two artists there at barber. They had a couple of guys who think they can sing. A public notary was there? No one was allowed to be served. Was it a dry weekend? It was and you know it was so this is so tripped out. My youngest daughter went with Sierra Sierra's here. Yeah. So you went with, what's his name? Yeah, Kenya Martin's daughter. Yeah. Sierra Martin and they both go, and then 19 years old, about to be 20. And I didn't go. And they was like, why don't you go? Because I don't want to hang out with two €20. And that's exactly what happened. David did kenyon Martin and his son playing. We're going to talk about the trade. Oh my God, not the trade. Well, our friend, my friend, a guy who I think is a great, great play and getting diso bad bad situation in Westbrook is going to the clippers. He's in a good spot now. And a good spot. And we're going to talk about it because I love race cars. And 500 just happened. And I unlikely winner to a black team, black owner on that team, Brad Doherty, who was a great NBA. Great college player and a great NBA player. I played against them all four years when he was at North Carolina. Beat him in the ACC championship 1985. You talk about him winning and talk about the slam dunk, that was something. The slam dunk was Mac just really. How tall is he? 6 two. 6 one, 6 one. 6 one and a half winning the slam dunk contest. Doing amazing things. We're just going to have a ball here the whole time. Look at them. Wearing that Philly Jersey. Doctor Jay said, you got all kind of new friends now. That didn't even know who he was. The sixers inside them until I think a week, 5 days before the dunk contest. Yeah. Yeah. But that's a great story. Great story, this kid. Like a former Georgetown Hoya, so I've been knowing about him for a minute. Yeah, great in college. Great and great in high school. I just love to see these kind of stories. I just hope it doesn't turn out. You remember there was another great dunker named Ken Skywalker. Kenny Skywalker from the Knicks. Yeah. He did not contest that thing. Yeah, man. I remember he tried to guard Adrian dantley. I was like, you better ask for help, brother. AJ got 38 that game. I'm talking to you. So we're going to have a bunch of fun. And anybody else wanted to talk to us. This is a great thing, because when a Roku now, so that means everybody is sexy. Shout out to our Roku people. Shout out to Roku. And he bought a Roku TV 58 inches for a $100. That's a good deal. Well, he got it out of somebody else's house.

"Eastern that's followed by the 40 year tradition, the NBA slam dunk contest, a four man filled with the next Jericho Sims, Houston's kenyon Martin junior, along with Philly's Mac mcclung, and the pelicans trait Murphy the third. With your Bloomberg sports update. I'm rob buskin. This is a Bloomberg money minute. Robots may be coming for our jobs, but will they help fire us too? 98% of HR leaders said that they will rely to some extent on software and algorithms if they're making labor cuts in a 2023 recession. Bloomberg's Beth cow it says artificial intelligence has already infiltrated many workplaces from hiring to onboarding to training to evaluating. So it's not a huge stretch to think those tools designed to streamline decision making could make their way into layoffs. A human will hopefully make the decisions, of course. I'm sure some companies will try to rely solely on AI and algorithms. I'm not sure that's the best idea. But coward believes HR execs will remember the H stands for human. The layoff is one of the most traumatic things that can happen to a person, and it's kind of unfair to turn that decision completely over to the robots. And at the end of the day, there are some things a machine just can't do. The workforce is a human thing. We don't always know how our decisions are going to play out long term. Human intuition still plays a role. Jill Schneider, Bloomberg radio. Bloomberg radio on demand and in your podcast feed. On the latest edition of our Bloomberg surveillance podcast, a conversation with Seth, Carpenter, Morgan Stanley's chief, global economist. So I'd say the world goes in lots of cycles. There are very famous episodes back in the late 60s and into the 70s and the interactions between president Johnson and the fed chair and whether it was appropriate to tighten policy while the U.S. was fighting in Vietnam. So I think there have been periods where there's more politicization there are periods where there's a bit less. I think the main thing from my personal experience is that the people inside the fed tend to be very, very focused on what their mandate is and they try to block out the political noise to the degree humanly possible. The mandate being to really bring inflation down to that 2% target. And that mandate is getting harder to wrap your head around right now because we don't understand the contours of inflation. If Jay Powell were having his fed press conference right now, do you think that he would mention disinflation as John was mentioning earlier? As many times as he did during that press conference. I have to say the last data print does make things a little challenging to read exactly. The fundamental story of some disinflation from core goods and some hopefully coming disinflation from housing. That's generally in still intact and you never want to fully change your worldview based on one month's worth of data. But there have been some surprises and it wasn't just one data series, the non farm payrolls report for January was strong. The CPI report had some surprises. The retail sales report was strong. All of those have to make you wonder, is there more resilience underlying resilience for the

"Marilyn has beaten Purdue for the second time in three weeks or so. I don't even, I read college basketball. I don't watch. That makes sense. Totally. I'm reading college basketball. I can't tell you who are the best players and who this and that. I just hate worst Kentucky. I've seen duke went on a controversial, they lose on a controversial basket a couple of weeks ago. I read the articles, I don't necessarily watch the games. And so what now is driving that interest to get my attention on the television screen? What is going to draw me in to say, hey, I want to watch this. That's what I think that this weekend is really all about sports. What is going to carry me before the big event start before the NBA playoff start? Pitchers and catchers are reporting over in Arizona. So you got baseball that's also in the forefront. It's going to be coming up in a couple of weeks. You know, it's going to be some new teams now that or new players that have switched teams and some new blood. Obviously, I went to college in San Diego, so I follow a lot of the San Diego media. There's so radio. They're hyped up. The hype train on the Padres. The Pacific sun liner or surf liner, this is the train that goes from LA to San Diego. That train is packed of bandwagon fans. Trust me, we want to beat up on the Dodgers who are still pretty good, but I think that this is what this weekend is really all about because I'll be able to watch a little bit of everything. I watched the NBA, but it's missing some of the stars, right? There'll be no Russell Westbrook, LeBron and play ten minutes, right? He'll go out there and say his hellos and run around for a little bit. And then he's out. And then of all the stars you lead up with the Russell Westbrook is you have a team. I know he got on tell him to say it like, think about this. He's been an all star for a long time. 5 years ago, you think about some of the all stars who were out there. And it's just not, they're not there anymore. And that's no offense to some of the guys who have actually earned it and deserved it, but I would say this, a lot of the guys who are playing in the game, no offense. Don't necessarily move the needle, like the guys who aren't playing. It's factual. You know what I mean? Especially like you said when it comes to the dunk contest. When you look at who we could have in the dunk contest as opposed to who were getting it and no disrespect to these guys, we got Trey Murphy the third from the pelicans. We got Jericho Sims and the Knicks. We got kenyon Martin junior of the rockets and then we got Mac mcclung who was playing gigli. He was in a G league. The sixers just signed brought him up. He was kind of like Zion. He was Zion before Zion. Well, he wasn't quite Zion. But he was like, he wasn't quite. A little white dude with the crazy huh? He was like, oh, guys, he was not quite Zion. All right, Zion was doing some other things. I was like, you can't even put mcclung in high school in the same, I don't know, man. I can't even go back to rewatch a little white dude dunk. Because it was amazing. And that's why Christmas was a little white dude. That's why. But you said it. So now I can say it. That's okay. Who's this dude with the springs on the bottom? He was still playing. He went to Georgetown. He's a sixer now, so he was Georgetown. He was a warrior summer league team. So I can understand how that doesn't necessarily motivate you to turn the channel to. Well, I'm watching guys in the duck contest who are sometimes fringe NBA players or guys I'm not really watching their teams with the NBA. We need to jump around. Sports center has now become just a John morant highlight film. I mean, John Moran is that good though. And so you got to wonder why John morant is in the dunk contest. You know, Zion's hurt, so I guess that's why he's not in it. But there definitely are some name players that you would suspect and could expect to be in this. I would love to see John Moran. I got lucky enough to see John Moran in person this year for the first time or this season for the first time unbelievable player, but it's those guys who will have or players like that who will take this NBA all star weekend showcase because earlier when I talked about passing of the torch, who are the guys who are going to move the needle when at some point LeBron walks away from the game, who is going to be that guy that you say it's must watch TV. I have to watch this. Oh, oh, he's playing. Because right now, a lot of times I can watch some highlights, to be honest, right? It's not there for me, but it is coming back though. I get more excited for the NBA. And I've always said the NBA season truly doesn't start till after the Super Bowl and it's triple zeros. That's true. We had a fury of trades during Super Bowl week. And it was like, I got traded. On Wednesday night. That was like 11 p.m., Arizona time. They came over and took a little bit of shine, I would say, just for a few hours, at least with us. And it was just like, oh, dude, Kevin Durant coming to me. I was like, all right. It was like two hours straight of like, we're on air like holy crap. Holy crap, holy crap. It was too much happening. And then like the next day, it was like, oh, we still got a game coming up. So I kind of drowned out all the excitement from the NBA. Well, that's why I wasn't too much 'cause NBA knew they had a small window. So they might as well do it this week. Why not push your trade deadline a couple of weeks? We could have been talking about it all week long. Like, oh my God, this is a great trade. I feel like we can't really even talk about it because it happened at a time where, you know, we're talking about Jalen hurts versus Patrick Mahomes, eagles, chiefs. Who's going to win? Who's going to win their second Super Bowl in the last 5 years? And now we're talking about Kevin Durant, who possibly won't even play until after the all star break. So you got a lot going into that.

"Like your certain about you in all these others with the super team. That's only played seven games together rob and they only way the nets can win a game if they win the one hundred forty points and nobody's concerned about this old fashioned indiana. Remember that movie who's gonna hoosiers. They need some old fashioned zone defense. Listen listen rob. Kool aid drinking cooler. Kevin durant is fighting with your boy. Mike rappaport right. He's hold on before you even get into that. Who is the last great. Nick you would say. Besides the Can call random great yet. Who's the last great nick that that that team in the in the nineties. Patrick ewing was the last great neck. Even though he's not you know you don't consider carmelo as as one of the last great no not at all not at all. He's not a great. Nick kamala roleplaying melanie role player. I speak. I got a funny story about that. Okay so okay so you don't. This story is not gonna hold up. If you don't consider like alan. Houston probably was the last great nick before that nobody won championships. But you gotta realize you need a ticket seller carmelo came to new york free agency or whatever came came to new york and when he got here that was supposed to help the free because it was him in a mari. They try to team together at everybody's supposed to be coming here then. They tried to clear everything to have. Lebron come you know. And when they did even present presenters who was the unicorn was the draft. Pick that phil. Jackson drafted that. Nobody wanted but became star but after his time for him to re up with the knicks he like. I can't deal with this dysfunction. you're not victory carmelo right. Like you're you're you're only crap long carmelo. Why would i resign. Stay here that's at shows you. Everything thinks had everything here in new york all the advertising madison avenue and he said he got hurt. He was happy he was hurt. So you didn't have to play no more. You should be athletes. Get happy and be happy that you heard so. You don't have to play. And his brother. His brother was his manager. So yeah we out here and he said that specifically out the door. I got i got a funny camilla story. I'm saying we'll get into robin. would either. was he really like. was he really a great player. Like that. i. I would say that. I would say that alan houston was a better player than carmelo. Remember all those miami series and the allens creek clutch shots in the knicks. Where they need you know. Allen was only good because of what you did. When that's when the center was still wasn't a guard gate. It was about to center still art lonzo morning rich. Smits patrick ewing. it was. It was still a a senator league. He was patrick ewing with open things up for him back out. Houston had that shot but houston was never to do to take it to the hole and really spread script the author he needed another complimentary player to really make the knicks. The knicks can never really just get over that hump at that time and back. Then i tried to be a fan at nick's father was still there but after the father people don't know that do won't cable vision was deb's now spectrum. Stuff was the only in his son his son more to be. This is the rich kid that got the team. That's really kid. And that's just strictly business. Move and that is mcdonalds. Mcdonald's makes money for real estate. Not from the hamburger fries. They make money from as square garden in anything else. He came off. Rogers they do about the knicks. And like i said we all have dysfunctional members in our family right now. She's gotta have it so let's get right into it. Which is everything that you've been doing even during a pandemic you've been working. Yeah i mean it's It's been it's been kinda crazy During the pandemic One of my boys. It was like i was supposed to shoot a movie And budapest this dissatisfied like space film and then it got postponed and i was sort of of sort of found myself. I was supposed to put on my second. Last year was a whole thing and And the pandemic hit. And i was like dang what am i gonna do and one of my best friends started teaching me how to use logic. It was like yo. You ain't gonna sit around and do nothing. He was i. We're gonna open laptop of teach you how to use larger. You're going to learn how to cut your vocals. We learn how to do this. Sow sitting there doing lessons on my computer. Were him virtually. Take over my computer with screen. Sharing showed me how to kind of engineer. So i started keeping myself busy and then i started cutting records virtually from my house and i was just keeping myself busy that way and then The movies the movie came back around. I went and shot in. budapest stuff. Started to lime back up again. And i found myself working again and i was pretty grateful for that because i i was i think like the rest of the world. I was kinda like dang. What are we going to. What are we did you do this. All in yo. Y'all did you didn't leave new york like everybody else. Leave new york. I turn this one room of my apartment into like a weight back in shape. I worked down years and and i said i just had a moment where i was like. You're not going be sitting around doing nothing. I'm not gonna sit in a house and just be saying like can. Schlepping i was i saw went out and bought you. Couldn't even by way. So i was lifting. I got two gallons opponents spray or get out of here. The two gallons opponents bring. I had a i had a yoga mat and And i was able to get my hands on like a boat super bowl. You know working absence. And that was it and i just basic bands and stuff like that and i got with a trainer and we was virtually just like this and i set them up at the end of the room. Like yeah you could see me. You see me. He's like yeah. You good knowledge is like get after it in The pandemic actually became this. This moment of like Like i. I didn't know how much of a a blessing this moment. We're in the midst of this tragic time you know I do have to say that that there was a lot of light in this in this time and A lot of self reflection. I was able to spend more time with myself. I was on the goal run and run and run and run in and his time. Just there was a lot of good. That came out of it. Let me ask you a question. how are you and when i asked that question you know. I'm asking sincerely like mentally emotionally. How are you yeah. i'm good most days are good. You know every now and then. I have a rough one I think You know i was. I've been watching. Cnn i love you guys. I think dr jess let's just the climate and I've been doing therapy for two years Now men twice a week and it's been it's been a. That's been a blessing you know and it's been has been To see you know shows like you guys show and other shows like really like you know talk about this. Because it's hard you know and i i don't i'm not gonna sit up. Pan complained like there's been a lot of blessings going on the movies and this nadan mo in my personal life and relationships but like yoga. Guess hard sometimes you you you sit you sit in by yourself and you like damn you know a friend of mine asked me. How am i like Not too long ago. When i said you know might man but sometimes i ask myself what am i. What am i doing this for you. Know like why do i do. I really know why. Get up in the morning. Still like i have asthma questions. Sometimes 'cause to someone on the outside could be like what do you mean. Of course you get up because you in movies are movies tv. You're doing this. You know moving in you yet. You getting after it but like why. Why am i going after known you figure that out. Have you broke that down. I think i think every day is every day is a new reason right like not every day but every now and then the reason changes right and be like oh from family for myself. You know for You know. Because i think this thing would be an amazing thing to to achieve would accomplish. This would make me happy. But sometimes yeah i have moments where i have to ask myself that question but but but i do all in all because i love it you know. Somebody asked me the other day. I was doing. I was doing playback a plane back my album for people and stuff and yeah yeah come on blessings right and i like the guy asked me. He goes how do you balance everything like. Why why do you. How do you do the movies. And the tv and the music and i say. I'm not gonna lie to you bro. I said it gets exhausted. Doing these playbacks for you. I said this is exhausting. I said it gets exhausting. Being told no like time and time again people are just like no. Nah that song in good enough that they're moving ain't gonna here. He's our act. he thought i know he's too. He's too young. Or he's to there. Some and i said but the reason why i do it all because i love it and i said if i didn't love it i wouldn't even be here with you right now like plan you. This music You know because at the end of the day you know. I believe in what i'm doing and i believe in museum believe in my work and myself and i was like you know that's why i that's why i get up and do this but you know the beauty of those knows all it takes is one. Yes the exhilarate you again the same way. All those can exhaust you one. Yes can feel you us exactly what i sets in two. I said to him. I said i get told no so many times but i said when i get that yes dash gets me to the next moment where i can get the next one because i'm told i can't tell you how many things i haven't gotten to do. How many jobs. I haven't gotten a home. But i can tell you know i can name the yeses right. I can name those tyler. somebody's out. Yeah yeah 'cause dash got me.

George Karl joining us here Sunday morning on ESPN radio question on the West than a question in the for the Eastern Conference here, But if you're the Lakers right now, Outside of the health of the team with KCP and 80 and LeBron. Is there a team that scares you the most if you're the Lakers Oh, boy. The church. Seems like the guys in the Lakers Guardia were Utah. And the Dallas Mavericks. I think the Dallas Mavericks when we put Bianca gunships is now playing very good basketball. That could be they could be anybody with their offense on any given that that's how good he is. You're not a total they're not total team. They have some weaknesses. But you know, in the end be about once every 10 years. Legacy kind of comes all together, and no one really knows he's gonna be the champion. That's kind of where I am right now. Right now. I would not want to be in Vegas and that would have to make it better. He's gonna win it. Don't trust Brooklyn, even though I think they're playing very well. I think Philadelphia Milwaukee are, you know they're not gonna be easy out in the Eastern Conference and the Western drummers right now, I don't think anybody except maybe Dallas is playing at a good level. Think Denver's up and down that ain't Portland's up and down Utah Look up and down and I like I like what you talked didn't in the regular season, so I trust them. Right now, the guy that I like on the basketball court with the ball in his hands. And I mean he was playing that well. And people heard it all yours inquired under our very, very good defensive players. And they're not going You're not going much at all. I mean, the tune is the guy's probably covering Wanted more than anybody else, and no one you really stopping them. So I think the guy the team's not like a little bit of Dallas. And you call that they give a little confrontation with the Lakers along the way and the West. I think Brooklyn is the favorite. But some reason I don't trust them yet, and the magic of a championship is probably going to be the find and found in the second round somewhere along the way. "Come This week's episode of Story time with Dan and my connection to one of the most famous moments in World Series history earlier on the show today. Did a joint interview with the two Reds announcers who did the play by play of Wade Miley's no hitter on Friday night, radio announcer Tommy Thrall and TV voice, John say, Dak obviously a thrilling moment for the two of them, and it got me thinking. What is The greatest individual performance. That I've ever seen in person. I asked the same question to you. What is the greatest individual performance in any sport that you've ever seen in person? If you want to weigh in our numbers are 513749 7000 locally toll free 1 800 the big one or pounds 780 Auntie. I had a few things immediately come to mind. For myself. I'll start with Tiger Woods. I was at the Masters in 2005 when he won It was not his most recent would. Obviously, that was a couple of years ago, but it was the one before that, And that was the year that he hit the chip shot on the 16th hole, where he intentionally aimed away from the hole and then took advantage of the slope is the ball rolled and trickled and slowly made its way toward the cup, And then it stopped. With the Nike logo, perfectly framed for TV and sat on the edge of the cup for a couple of seconds for before plopping in for Uncredible birdie, probably the most famous single shot the Tiger Woods ever hit. And I was standing just a few feet away, So that's probably at the top of the list for me. When I think of the Bangles. This was not a game that I broadcast, but I was working for Fox 19 at the time, So I was there. Corey Dillon's incredible 278 yard rushing performance. Just 22 carries at the time, an NFL record as he broke the previous mark set by Walter Payton. The incredible thing about that day for Corey Dillon was mother. A few things number one. The Denver Broncos. The opponent was number one in the NFL in rushing defense going into the game. And Corey went for 2 78, including six runs of 30 or more yards, But the thing that made it extra incredible with that the Bangles had no passing attack. They used to quarterbacks in that game, A Keely Smith and Scott Mitchell. They were a combined two for 14. So the Bronco's knew what was coming and still couldn't stop it. Corey Dillon running for 2 78. Little added trivia bonus for that game. He did not have the Bangles longest run in that game, even though he had a 65 yard touchdown run is part of his 2 78 Peter Warrick had a 77 yard rush. In the Bangles victory over Denver in basketball. I think of the many incredible UC bear cat performances that I've been fortunate to see triple doubles by Kenyon Martin, including a game where he had more than 20 points more than 20 rebounds and more than 10 block shots. But I would have to say the most incredible bear cat performance that I've ever seen was turned in. By Steve Logan the time that he individually outscored Southern Miss. He had 41 Southern Miss had 37 the bear cats won the game 89 37. It pains me to say it is the voice of the UC bear cats. But one of the other greatest performances I've ever seen in person was turned in by a Xavier musketeer. I was there at the center to center the day that David West Individually destroyed the Dayton Flyers to the tune of 47 points and 18 rebounds. As for baseball, the first thing that comes to mind for me happened in my days as a minor league broadcaster Early in my broadcasting career, I was the voice of the Syracuse Chiefs. Triple A farm club for the Toronto Blue Jays. And I saw an outfielder named Still Camp Asano do something that I don't know if it's ever been done before or since. In major or minor league baseball. He hit for the cycle, and obviously, that's been done. But here's what he did. He had the single the double and the home run, maybe in the first five or six innings, so he still needed the triple and obviously, the triple is the hardest hit to get. Well, so Camp Asano got the triple to complete the cycle and then later in the game, he tripled again. So how about a single a double a home run and two triples in the same game. Don't know if that has ever been done in Major league baseball. But what about you? What were the best individual performances in any sport? That you saw in person. 513749 7000 is the local number toll free 1 800 the big one or pounds 780 anti. Let's check in with Paul. Hello, Paul. Welcome to the show. Well, thank you. Thank you. Enjoy your show. Thanks, Paul. Um, this is a baseball moment. Now. I won't go through all the accolades for about Pete Rose. But what this is sort of Ah, Pete rose moment, plus a sentimental moment as this goes back. I think itwas in the early eighties, I believe, or the late seventies. This is before feet left the red. I was with my aunt, a great aunt. Actually, she is. She was in her eighties. Believe it or not. And she had never gone to a game at Riverfront Stadium on glee were able to get tickets. Sure enough, that particular evening, he's hit his one and only inside the park home run. How about that? You know, timing for your aunt's? Yeah. Yeah, She had never been so easy and she was old timer. She since passed away long ago, but she was a Crosley field attendant on a regular basis. Way back way back. But yeah, so she had never gone to a red orb into River Riverfront Stadium and So I had an opportunity to take her. And even though we crimes not to the nosebleed section, but pretty darn close, So despite her age, she made it up the steps. We got it. We got our seats. And we were on the left on the third base side. Actually, I'm I remember right. And sure enough, Pete, you know, does his thing. His usual thing, and he hits an inside the park home run His one and only is if I Yeah, he was when we all know he was not a home run hitter, but he hits an inside the park home run. I think he with their play either a Pittsburgh or Philly, I forget which and the two of the right fielder and the center fielder collided, which caused the reason the ball rolled and rolled and Course. Pete. Being himself took advantage of that and made it a home. I want to say face first or but I couldn't swear to that. But it was real exciting and riz real momentous, Especially because my great aunt Uh, in her eighties, got to see that got to see him and the stadium for the first time. 4256 hits and you saw the inside the park home. Run. Pretty cool, Paul. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it. You bet. Thank you. All right, Let's try Jim and Lexington. Hello, Jim. Welcome to the show. Hey, good afternoon to you were getting the rain down here. And we've been getting it here. Yeah, I hear I hear it's getting real cold tonight, too. So, Hey, I just what I was at a game took my two young nephews. Um, this was in 2018. As the name Scooter. Yes, I was not at the ballpark tonight. He launched four home runs. My goodness, and I can't remember the number of Rabies that he got. But I'm I'm assuming it was about 10 or 12. Don't remember off the top of my head, but I'll look it up. It had to be something close to that. Yes, so that it's still amazing people When I'm able to say Yeah, I was at that game, so Good stuff, Jim. Appreciate the call. Thanks very much. Have a good day. All right, you two, Let's go to John. Hello, John. You're on the Kelsey Chevrolet Extra inning show. Hey, this is John and I'm for Vinny Town and actually can ribbies for scooter. Very good. Thank you. But I was 17 at the Riverfront Stadium and I've gotten tickets from somebody who knew David Steps CEO and I sat behind home plate right next to Paducah Perez, telling his wife Yeah, And I'm thinking this is the worst game I've ever seen. Rick Wise Philadelphia Phillies pitched a no hitter and hit two home runs. That's right. Make way that might be the greatest individual performance in a single game in baseball history. To made me wonder back Then, in the seventies, if you were on a great day, you were having great bio rhythms..

"Which days you thought about that impossible view for for Fran, Chester Martin Brennaman and his first game behind the Mike to call Henry Aaron 714th career home run. Let me give you a call or tie of sorts. With between Henry Aaron and the Reds, Dusty Baker. You may remember, I do this. This feature called 10 teammates and a hat where I left. My name's great stuff. It's a great segment, and so I could one with Dusty Baker and, you know she played forever and mounted. So there were a million names in this hat. He pulls out 10 names, and one of them is Henry up proceeds to tell the story of how he was an 18 year old kid and the Raves wanted to sign him. Um, his mom didn't want to decide Is Mom wanted Dusty Baker to go to college. So the Braves had Henry Aaron make the pitch to Dusty Baker's mom. For wise. He's inside a professional baseball contract. And not go to college, and Henry Aaron said that Dusty's mom, Listen, Listen, This is Baker. I will take care of him like he's my own son. I will make sure he goes to church. Make sure he goes to bed early. I'll get him up and make sure he hasn't breakfast. And that's what Henry Aaron did for 18 year old Dusty Baker when he started out his professional baseball career was on the field. With Henry, and when he hit that home run from the Braves, Dusty Baker, Dusty Baker was on deck. Dusty Baker was the on deck hitter when Henry Aaron hit number 7 15 and who was the young part second base that first designated it was a home run. That I don't know. You got me on that one. Let me give you a hint. He later died of Riverfront Stadium and home plate, Boy, I certainly remember that incident, but now I'm drawing a blank on the name of the Cherry Empire. Harry. That's right. He was the one to second base called it. And then what was 74? I think it was 1996. I'm like that. About 22. Years later, he died at home plate, and I'm thinking And then they had the big ceremony on you might be too young to recall if you're a young man, but in 1974, they stopped the game outcome. Bowie Kuhn, who kind of order that he playing the game. There was Pete Rose, Johnny Bench Henry Aaron, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Dusty Baker all there, and they did some sort of ceremony on the field. And Henry said, you know, kept saying, Look, let's play baseball her and then enough for this and the guy who was over this 3 74 Mark and left Center field. Sitting in the third row with a glove in his hand at the age of 12 was Brian Combs. How about that? Brian comes got the tickets the day before from Bob Braun, who was doing a TV show broadcast it. Also here he went on is a 12 year old boy dressed his Mr Red with a big job he's gonna bring in the photo and Bob Brown said here, young man. Here's two tickets to Mars game. It was in the Philly Market Parade, and Brian comes watch the ball fall more less at his feet. Picked up by an UMP picked up by a cop in his first year name. Police officer Clarence Williams of CPM because he was a rookie cop. He was the guy in between the wall and the frame of Riverfront Stadium is like 6 ft. Separation and and he was like he was like in an alley and he heard a ball was hit. He heard the yelling. Had no idea what was going on. He couldn't see He was like in the vice and and the ball came over the first wall, hit the second wall, then bounce back to hit the wall that 3 74 Mark and the ball landed at his feet and he picked it up. S. O'Brien comes looking down at Officer Clarence Williams with the baseball She probably gave back to Henry own car. I see did yeah, a certain famous Plum house man. Send someone out the left center field to see if they could find the ball and the cop in uniform is holding the ball. And said, Would you give that back to you so sure. I'm on duty out. You can have it and the ball is now on now in Cooperstown. Did. Officer Williams get anything exchange? Did they give him a base? Yes, they did. Thank you. Henry. Aaron signed some things and gave it to the police officer. And the rest, shall we say is history. Nice. You know, I have a brother named Mark is actually my stepbrother. So we had different parents given Grandparent's his grandfather gave him an autographed baseball signed by Henry Aaron. Which he had displayed. We shared a bedroom, his kids, so he had it displayed in our bedroom. And then one day we were out playing catcher playing baseball in the neighborhood and we lost the ball. No. My brother ran upstairs into our bedroom. He grabbed the autographed Henry Aaron baseball, and that's what we played with and you know, naturally ruined it. Well, what it would have been a very valuable piece of memorabilia. We stupidly you know, played catch and baseball with in the backyard, destroying it. You may recall 2 to 3 years ago, baseball designated the four living greatest baseball players of all time and an All Star game. They were Henry Aaron, Willie Mays, Johnny Bench and Sandy Koufax Co fax at a baseball scholarship to you See Johnny Bench played here is 17 year career. And Henry Aaron had all these marks and milestones in Cincinnati. The only one that wouldn't connected us was really amazed. So the four greatest that ever lived. Three of the four have great connections to Cincinnati, and one might say, Pete Rose would have been on that list somewhere. But of course, he's been more less banished from baseball and that Zorro NPI roast, so no matter what happens down hard There's a Cincinnati connection, everything. Everything in the world ultimately gets tied to the Queen City. I know last night. You ready for the big question? I am. The Mount Rushmore of you See Bear cat basketball. All men off. Say all men. Yeah, we're gonna have four Mount Rushmore. You see men's basketball Go. The Mount Rushmore. The top four Tripoli players. No coach is correct. Okay, well, the big O is obvious. Kenyon Martin..
