A highlight from Bob Burnett: Block Space Scarcity and the Need For Layer 2s to Scale
"If we believe Bitcoin adoption is going to follow the path that we all, I think, are here believing in, then mathematically, it means that there isn't room for everybody. Welcome to the Coin Stories podcast, where we get to explore the future of money, business, technology and Bitcoin's revolutionary promise to boost economic prosperity around the world and mend our broken financial system. I'm Natalie Brunell, and I'm here to learn with you. This podcast is for educational and entertainment purposes only. Thanks for joining me. If you like this type of content and want to see more of it, make sure to hit that like button. All right, it's time for the show. Welcome back for another episode, everyone. I'm really excited about this episode because we're going to learn a lot about block space and block scarcity. Here with me is CEO of Barefoot Mining, Bob Burnett. Bob, thank you so much for joining me. Oh, my pleasure, Natalie. Great to see you. Your presentation at Bitblock Boom kind of blew me away because it is something that I have not thought about. I knew that the mempool, the memory pool of transactions was pretty clogged, and there were a lot of transactions waiting to be confirmed, but everything that you shared about block space and this other type of scarcity that Satoshi created with Bitcoin, it was just kind of mind -blowing and a little worrisome, so I'm excited to get into that. But first, let's set the scene here and talk a little bit about who you are, how you came to this space. You're originally from the Midwest like me, so I want to hear a little bit about your background, your upbringing, and I bet your gateway, computer journey is pretty interesting, so let's go to the beginning. Where are you from and what did you do early on? Well, thank you, Natalie. Yeah, I'm from Wisconsin originally. I grew up in a town called Kenosha, Wisconsin. I was fortunate as a young guy to have some great teachers, and, you know, luckily too, I think I was somewhat blessed in terms of just having a lot of mathematical and scientific inclinations, and so I had a teacher, his name was Cornelius Fowler, and he kind of took me under his wing in the late 70s, and so he started getting me programming on computers at that time, and that kind of led to a passion for computing, but computing then was very different than it is now, and so I ended up going to University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and getting a degree in computer engineering, and then came out of school, and again, Fortune smiled. I went to work in Chicago in your hometown for a company called Xena, which at the time was a very large TV brand. Yeah, I remember the building near me in the suburbs. Yes, Milwaukee off of Milwaukee Avenue off of 294.

Jack Posobiec Explains the Case of Daniel Perry
"What is the story with Daniel Perry, who is Daniel Perry and why is this catching the media's attention? What Charlie Daniel Perry is another one of the individuals who like Kyle rittenhouse was involved in these riots of 2020, which engulfed the nation pretty much every single major city saw these now while Kyle rittenhouse was in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and was forced to use an AR-15 to defend himself against a violent mob. This was a situation where an individual, a boogaloo boy, who was watching with the BLM writers. Now, Google, they're an anti government organization that are also pro BLM. So the media will tell you that Googlers are all far right. But the pro BLM side and the complete anti government anti police side doesn't necessarily make them fit one of the boxes just nicely. So this guy's marching with the BLM rioters, Daniel Perry is a serving U.S. sergeant in the U.S. Army. And his car is driving Uber on the side trying to make a few extra bucks. His car gets surrounded by these guys and this individual Garrett foster had been carrying an actually slung around two point slang of an AK-47 approaches approaches Perry's car at the low ready. Perry claims that the barrel started to move up. He then withdrew his sidearm, fired 5 shots and shot and killed foster and then drove away in his car. Foster this foster was killed. Harry later claimed self defense spoke with police officers claiming self defense and actually said to them at one point. He said to them one point this phrase, I wasn't going to give him a chance to aim the rifle at me, which was later used to go to the jury by this Soros prosecutor. It's great example folks of why you shouldn't talk to the police without a lawyer because they used that statement in court to say that foster wasn't presenting a threat, even though he marched up to him with a mob of people surrounded his car and had an AK-47 within inches of his face. I mean,

Getting to Know the Real Kyle Rittenhouse
"David and I were talking about the interview I did with Kyle rittenhouse yesterday and we were reflecting about how different the real Kyle rittenhouse is from the Kyle rittenhouse that was you could almost say manufactured by the left. And how different Kyle rittenhouse's story is. From the utterly deceitful narrative that was created around him in the aftermath of BLM and antifa riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It's kind of funny. I was reading Kyle rittenhouse's post on social media. I messaged him and I go, hey, you know, you should come on our podcast. And he agreed to do it. But the woman who kind of handles handles Kyle, you know, basically contacted us and said, hey, listen, you know, Kyle's not that political, so don't ask him about the Ukraine or political issues, because Kyle's just a kid. Which I kind of knew, but I thought it was funny that Kyle has been doing a couple of interviews and some of these hosts have been like, oh, what's your position on the landscape? And when you saw Kyle out there, you realize why that's not the right way to talk to Kyle rittenhouse. This is a kid a very modest kid who's trying to live a normal life. I mean, I was kind of touched by how he said, yeah, I tried to drop out of high school. My mom kind of needed me at home. So sad. You know, it was a lower middle class white kid who is trying to find his way in the world.

Best Buy and Levi Strauss Offer 'Racial Trauma' Counseling Following Rittenhouse Acquittal

They offered a session with a quote racial trauma specialist. For employees distraught over Kyle rittenhouse being acquitted. Now first of all, I wonder how much the racial trauma specialist gets paid. How'd you like to do that for a living? Racial, trauma, specialist. Now again, I would allege, that's woke. The Most Insane Leftist Responses to the Rittenhouse Verdict
"Excuse me, the daily wire. Collected, they listed. We're going to post this, Mike online dot com. The most insane leftist responses. To the rittenhouse verdict. President Biden, while the verdict in Kenosha will leave many Americans feeling angry and concerned, myself included, we must acknowledge the jury has spoken. What do you mean you're angry and concert? What are you angry about? What you wanted this kid's head on a platter? Is that what it is? Self defense isn't supposed to be self defense? How about Gavin newsham? This nutcase, governor, America today, he said, you can break the law, carry around weapons built for a military. Shoot and kill people and get away with it. That's the message. We've just sent to armed vigilantes across the nation. You see, newsham, these kooks never condemn the rioters or the looters. No, no, no, no. The guy that had a gun in defect was trying to protect a business and was defending himself. He's the bad guy. Not the pedophile trying to kill him. No, no. He's the good guy. How about governor J B pritzker, of Illinois? This classic. He heard about Newsom evidently instead hold my beer. Pritzker said, carrying a loaded gun into a community 20 miles from your home and shooting unarmed citizens is fundamentally wrong. How about the congressional black caucus? Here was their statement. It is unconscionable our justice system would allow an armed vigilante who traveled to Kenosha Wisconsin and killed Joseph rosenbaum Anthony huber and the wounded gauge grows gross Croix to go free. Colin Kaepernick. He said, well, but I can do you better. We just witnessed a system built on white supremacy validate the terroristic acts of a white supremacist. NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, ha, let the boy be black, he said, and it would have been life. Hell he would have had his life taken before this BS trial. Sad. House judiciary committee chairman Jerry Nadler. These are not insignificant people. This is a very prominent Democrat. He said, quote, this heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by the Department of Justice.

Clown in a Suit: Rittenhouse Prosecutor Mocked Over Closing Claim Against Self-Defense
"The takeaway headline from yesterday's closing arguments in the Kyle rittenhouse case, which you the defense arguments you didn't hear if you were watching MSNBC. They opted not to carry the Kyle rittenhouse defense closing arguments. Can you I mean, I know you can believe it. But isn't that disgusting? Isn't that just sick? That that's how corrupt and bias they are. You know, you can not like Fox News because of the prime time shows or the conservatives who appear on Fox News. They never pull stunts like that. They carry it at all, prosecutors closing arguments, defense attorneys, the judge, how about the prosecutor? How about this doozy? Now, I'm gonna bet that some of the jurors from Kenosha Wisconsin believe in the Second Amendment and cherish the right to keep and bear arms. And probably do so. I don't know the makeup of the jury. 18 men and women, they're going to see 12 of them to deliberate, beginning today. Not sure how long it's going to take. Kenosha is boarded up, ready for a verdict. The phrase that resonated through social media last night about assisting assistant district attorney Thomas binger was clown in a suit. And I believe he earned that title honestly. They have to convince you that Joseph rosenbaum was going to take that gun and use it on the defendant because they know you can't claim self defense. Against an unarmed man like this. You lose the right to self defense when you're the one who brought the gun. When you're the one creating the damage, danger. When you're the one provoking other people. Really? Well, that's news to millions of people who own a gun for self defense.

Debunking the Case Against Kyle Rittenhouse With Jack Posobiec
"With us as a friend of mine and I think you could call him the resident Catholic contributor. He's a godly man. He's patriotic courageous. You know him as Jack pass sobic from human events daily brought to you by turning point USA. Jack, there's a lot I want to talk to you about. Good to see you. And but let's start with kind of how your honorable fixation has honestly made me more interested and let's say fixated on the Kyle rittenhouse story. A lot of our listeners don't have a lot of they're not really aware of what's happening. This is not being covered as much as the Floyd saga. Let's start from the beginning. What happened? Who is Kyle rittenhouse? What is he charged with? Just start from the beginning and then we'll work through the current. Yeah, sure, no, thanks, Charlie, and appreciate the intro there. So what happened with Kyle rittenhouse? You have to go back to the summer of rage of 2020. Florida palus. Right. That was exactly. That was peppered throughout with these ubiquitous protests during the day and then riots looting arson at night. And in one of the cities, actually a small city called Kenosha, Wisconsin about an hour north of Chicago about an hour south of Milwaukee right in between. Following the police shooting of a criminal named Jacob Blake, who charged a police officer with an extended knife. There were multiple nights of rioting, looting and arson, the descendant upon this town from people who, by the way, mostly, were not actually from Kenosha Wisconsin. They were again, as I mentioned from Milwaukee and Chicago. This is in between them. And so on night three of this, you've got people that are scared out of their minds in the community. You've got people and we heard this in jury selection that were going into the local churches with their families to say, maybe if we go in here, we'll be safe because hopefully they won't attack a church. That's how bad it got in the village of Kenosha that night by night three. So Kyle rittenhouse was at the time 17 years old. He was about 15 minutes away, drove in with his friend and some others who had been asked to be there. To help protect the town, Kyle worked as a lifeguard in Kenosha. He had also been around there earlier that day, scrubbing off graffiti from the walls, right? By all intents and purposes we know that this is a guy who was there who cares about his hometown of use this as his hometown and wants to do the right thing doesn't like to see these roving bands of marauders coming through this. Well, as the night continues, the Nike continues Kyle's there. He's trying to offer medical aid to people on both sides, by the way, running around saying, does anyone need medical? Does anyone need this? He does have an AR-15 style rifle in order to defend himself. But for the most part of the night, he's not carrying that is kind of strapped on, but he's carrying a fire extinguisher to help put out fires at this car lot, as car dealership that has been attacked by these arsonists. So at one point, he hears about a car lot that's going off. This is a business that is multiple lots around town. So he's running to go put out the fire while carrying a fire extinguisher. Multiple members of this mob see him target him and begin chasing him through the street and then through the parking lot and at one point we just saw an HD footage today for the very first time. One of the assailants actually reaches for his gun after cornering tile in between a group of parked cars and at that point Kyle take steps to defend himself.

"Them go. Let them girl. A lot of lawyers might be reluctant to lead a big public event like this one quote, rally against political persecution for people charged in the capital riot, But a lot of lawyers are not John Pierce. We are going to take every one of these cases to trial, and in that process, we're going to find out exactly what actually happened on January 6th. This was Pierce at a rally this summer. He's a pro trump conservative attorney, and in some ways as much a political figure as a lawyer, despite a lack of evidence, he has hinted online that he believes the capital riot was a conspiracy by the so called deep state to discredit Trump supporters. Not the event. He said he had taken on about a dozen cases stemming from the riot. I either have courage or I'm fearless or very reckless, but these folks need representation. I interviewed Pierce a couple months after that event, and by then his client list had only grown. I think I represent the most of any lawyer in the country. What's the number? Now? You know, I believe it's around. Um, 18 you know it. It does kind of change on a day to day basis. But, you know, don't hold me to it. Some of those cases involved high profile conspiracy charges against alleged members of extremist groups like the proud boys and the oath keepers. Each case involves sifting through thousands of hours of raw video footage, huge hard drives and other discovery material looking for a needle in a massive haystack of evidence. It's a big undertaking for even an experienced criminal defense attorney And that's the thing. How many criminal trials have you done before? Mm. So I don't think I've done any criminal trials before. So how did this civil attorney end up with these major criminal investigations? Here's a bit more background in the nineties, Pierce served in the Army. He went to Harvard Law School. He worked for a couple big law firms in Los Angeles before starting his own in 2017, But in Pierce his words his career and the firm imploded within a few years, leaving it with millions of dollars of debt and fending off multiple lawsuits. He said One reason for the implosion was his problem with substance abuse. He went to a 30 Day rehab program in March 2020. Around that same time, court records show that his ex wife obtained two separate restraining orders against Pierce after he allegedly threatened to kill her. 2016 and again in 2019 peers declined to discuss his ex wife or her allegations. I care about her very, very much I adore and love my Children. And other than that, I'm just not going to comment on anything that's family related. A lawyer for Pierce, his ex wife said simply that the court records speak for themselves. Since last year, Pierce has been trying to rebuild and he's been doing that with some controversial political cases. First he worked on the defense for Kyle Rittenhouse. He's the 18 year old who shot and killed two people during unrest on the streets of Kenosha, Wisconsin. He's been supported by conservatives. But earlier this year written house fired peers and his mother, Wendy, said she thought Pierce and his team were just in it for the money and detention not to help her son. Here's Wendy Rittenhouse, speaking to the website, law and Crime News. They used Kyle to gain money. Game Twitter followers. I felt now they didn't care about Kyle Pierce did not want to get into the details of the dispute with the written houses. But he denied all wrongdoing. And despite the firing, it appears his involvement in that case helped raise his profile and led him to the capital riot cases. May have helped that he's also what he calls a fiery pro trump conservative. In fact, on the day of the riot when someone tweeted that there was only room for quote peaceful people in the Trump movement, Pierce responded. Wrong in another tweet after the riot, he wrote quote when tyranny reaches a certain point, the time for peaceful protest comes to an end. I asked him about that That was that was a that was a general statement that was not, you know, honestly meant to suggest that what happened at the Capitol was good or bad thing or legal or otherwise, that was a general statement. About America's philosophy of government. But controversy around Pearce doesn't just come from his politics. In fact, other conservative attorneys have publicly called him a quote grifter, and they point to the nonprofit group Peer Set up the N C L U You said the group will fight for American civil liberties, a kind of conservative answer to the A C l U and he did not hide how it will spend the donations it receives. My law firm will receive, you know substantial funds from The N C l U because we are doing so much of the work. That's important right now. Pierce said He has not spent any of the money donated to the N C l u so far and that he will set up a board of directors to vet where the cash goes. He is adamant that he is not in these cases for the money. I think anybody who really knows me the suggestion that I would not be doing things with the client's interests in mind. It just falls flat, and it's just completely false. I talked to experts in criminal defense about Pierce's role in these cases, and they were concerned. For one, There's the possibility that there could be a conflict of interest. For example, what of one of Pierce's clients wanted to cooperate with the government and testify against another Pierce client. Then there's the fact that Pierce encourages his clients to talk to the media, and all of those statements could be used against them in court..

That's not the truth of it. It was not trump voters who were burning down cities across america including kenosha wisconsin portland oregon. In fact it was the media telling people they were mostly p fiery but mostly peaceful protests. It was crew. People like chris cuomo on television. We're telling people antique is actually Not a not. A bad movie was the fbi. Antifa is this diffused organization. It was the media ridiculing harassing demanding. The expediate departure of federal law enforcement and homeland security operatives from portland oregon claiming that donald trump was making the situation worse. And the voters didn't buy it. The voters resented defunding the police at hispanic voters in particular. really hated. Like hell the idea that we were going to move in a socialist direction so while these voters did not like donald trump and voted for joe biden or just left the presidential line blank. That's actually would happen in georgia. Where david purdue got more votes than donald trump people just left the line blank but downtick. They voted republican. They voted republican of the state level. Such that republicans were expected to lose several legislatures and actually wound up picking up legislative seats around the country. They were expected to lose several governors inches and actually picked up governors mansions. They were expected to lose the united states house. Representatives big time and instead came within five seats of winning and they only lost the senate because a propaganda campaign by a bunch of idiots down in georgia convinced republicans that it was going to be stolen so four hundred twenty seven thousand two hundred and five of them did not show up for the runoff. Yes four hundred twenty seven thousand five two hundred five. Republicans voted in the general november general election in georgia and then did not show up in the runoff. Four hundred twenty seven thousand had those people showed up and even half of them voted for purdue and leffler republicans have kept the senate. But you had the chairman of the state party in georgia various members of congress and the president will tell them the election was going to be stolen so they didn't show up and vote. The democrats got those two seats. That's why the democrats have the senate not because the democrats won but because republicans themselves suppress their own vote and the media knows all of this. The media realizes all of this. The media recognizes that though they did their best to cover for antiga their best to cover for the democrats they did their best to downplay the violence and make it all about george floyd. But there are some people who wanna play their flag and say you're either with donald trump or you're against donald trump. you can't be an ally to donald trump. you can't be a supporter of donald. Trump. you've gotta be like the horny. Joie up his leg all times or else you're not sufficiently committed to donald trump. It is the most bizarre thing it is these culture personality. Now it is performance. And that's what you've gotta understand. Your performance is what matters to more people now than commitment. And that's a problem because it causes people to do insane things. One of the hallmark transitionary points of modernism to postmodernism is in modernism. You take someone's word and their their commitment as a statement of fact. If i say i'm grace theory i'm against critical race theory. And you presume my commitment until i do something to show you. Otherwise with post modernism. It's not enough to say. I'm opposed to it. You must dance around the stage burning critical race theory to the ground. Self immolating yourself waving flags. You must do a kabuki theatre dance. You must do performance. It is a song. Dance routine and post modernity. This is why you see protesters protesting everything these days. You need to understand that. The reason that protesters protest everything right now is because in post modernity performance is more than commitment performance is more than where you stand so someone can be against racism. But unless they're burning down kenosha wisconsin. Are they really against racism. We should be able to take people statements as truth. But because there's no your truth in my truth. Instead of the truth performance must be coupled with commitment. Because if you don't perform sufficiently for the crowd how do we know you're really committed to what you say you believe in so problems across this country is a problem see in religion. The southern baptists meet. It is a problem in politics. It is a problem in your local community performance I would suggest though that not every hill can be healed tonight on in that there are lots of people who perform who aren't aren't great. Now take for example pro-lifers for years. Republican politicians have told pro-lifers they are against planned parenthood. And they they love and for years though save republicans funded planned parenthood and never fought to get rid of funding for planned parenthood. So they perform they showed up. They kissed the babies that the real performance that matter. That was their votes. But people don't really care about votes anymore. They care about performance. You see them on stage and they rail against the left they scream at the left they scream about democrats. They have no democratic friends. Pay no attention to their voting records. What they say on stage. It's their dog and pony show. That matters i in so people get played. people can get played so easily At this point by performance the silver-tongued liar outperformers the truth teller. Because the silver tug liars will into horror himself out on stage performance. So that you believe. Even when he's lying to you and people these days lacked discernment to figure out the quiet man who speaks truth is more powerful than the silver tongue. Liar who dances on stage but the crowd goes with the silver tug liar they go with barabbas instead of jesus it is post modernity.

What do we know about how the prosecutor came to this decision? Mm. The district attorney in this case would say that the disturbing video footage you and I and many others saw was only part of the story D a gravely says he conducted an extensive investigation and after looking at the full body of evidence, he essentially determined that the officer acted in self defense. No, I do want to make an important note here in Kenosha. Police officers do not wear body camera footage, so the footage that was widely circulated was taken from a bystander who was across the street filming the incident. Mm hmm. And Wisconsin law holds that officers can shoot if they have if they have reasonable belief that firing is necessary to protect themselves. Blake's father Yeah. Blakes Father has asked for Kenosha to stand up and make noise about this decision. How are people in Kenosha responding to this news? What's the sentiment?
