What you need to know: Detroit Lions vs Houston Texans on Thanksgiving Day
"Let's go into tomorrow's games. The first game is the houston texans at the detroit lions detroit. Lions are plus three Let me check the money real quick here. The fifty nine percent of the bets are on the texans and percent of the money is on the texans. The line just got shut out. Texans had a big win against patriots. started you michael. What do you think well. I think i got the injury report for houston for the for the alliance because they weren't the same team. My mouth stafford was healthy in that game. I'm not saying there are good tv. You know there are three and three the last six games but i think that they weren't healthy. They didn't have golladay staffer. It wasn't healthy swift. Didn't play if those guys are playing and healthy. You know that you've gotta take that into consideration especially against a bat houston defense which you play run defense really well as we gave up a tiny arts but they were able to shut down the patriots from running the football. And you know and you look at it they. They've allowed one hundred thirty two points to houston in the last five games and only have created three turnovers houston doesn't create turnovers and allow points and mvp and the shawn watson is having an mvp type season. He's averaging over eight point five yards per attempt. He's only had one one point five interceptions. I mean percentage wise. I think he's been really good. The game doesn't set up good for detroit because houston's too fast on offense detroit too slow on defense the concern you have if you wanna play this game is is what good can use to do against the the lions defensively because if there if the lions aren't healthy they can play well so i think that's the concern is where is the lions helped the factor in this way is i think from talking to people around the league you know. I think it would have been other week. Besides thanksgiving patricia lost his job on after the after the carolina he may lose after this game. If they don't win. I mean i think that's how that's how tight it is. I'm not saying he's fired on friday. I'm not sick. Predicted sanders a lot of conversation about that. Yeah i mean that is obviously worried for the lines is as are they going to show up and play Away from texas. I saw cooks out Potentially i believe i still. Kenny stills has also out galled as probably going to be out for The lines it seems like jonah swift is going to be back who he played very very well the weekend before and the Houston texans are number thirty. Two in the league versus rush. That is my only reservation. Though for taking the texans talked about earlier like. Jj watt probably gonna wanna show up to sean lock. Primetime time game might be the last one you know. We'll fuller's ver- contract after the season potentially looking at shop and everybody's watching you know. Yep but look they had a big lead on you know a detroit out a big lead on on washington they left. Detroit is slow there to the worst two-minute defense at all football. According to the kid that they drafted the third overall pick played only twenty four plays last week. Why i don't know i think. The biggest indictment of matt patricia. Coaching staff is when adrian peterson comes out and says i don't know why he didn't meet three weeks ago. That kids me
Bill O'Brien: Head coach fired by Houston Texans
"Coach Bill O'Brien has gone from the Houston Texans and nobody can say they're surprised last January. He had his team up twenty four nothing over the chiefs in the playoffs then got outscored fifty one to seven. But as a coach O'Brien can at least say he won four division champions in six years. It's as a GM that he made. You scratch your head in one year he traded former number one picture Davey clowney to Seattle he traded two first round picks a second round pick for Laremy Tunsil and Kenny stills and the whopper of the mall. He traded the Andre Hopkins to Arizona for running back David Johnson as of now. Johnson is thirty seventh in the League in rushing and Hopkins leads the NFL in receiving. Yeah. That'll get you fired but not as fast as an oh four start despite having to Shawn Watson and Jj Watt on your team a heated argument with what may have been the last straw for O'Brien. Then again, have you ever stood next to Jj watt they can't say O'Brien doesn't have courage. He just doesn't have a job anymore.
Deshaun Watson endorses Houston Texans' potential Antonio Brown pursuit, even if the franchise hasn't shown interest
"Brown now, so there was some videos of him working out with Russell Wilson earlier this offseason. We've seen Antonio Brown working out with Lamar Jackson. Now to the Texans, maybe have some interest. We know their quarterback DeShaun Watson looks interested. Shawn Watson responded to a tweet from former NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson. And what Shad Johnson tweeted a B to the Texans would like a prayer. Emoji link, I guess praying it happens. And this John Watson's tweet was basically a Mame of you know, Drake looking like, Really, I'm intrigued. I got intrigued type of look. Here's the reality. But the Texan sign Antonio Brown, then shame on Bill O'Brien. You cannot justify signing a bee in the same off season that you shipped away DeAndre Hopkins for nothing for David Johnson's contract in a second round pick, You cannot trade away the game's best wide receiver and then bring in a guy like Antonio Brown. Who is a locker room cancer. You can't do it. You can't justify it. Let's ignore the off the field stuff with a B and the suspension that's likely coming to the guy. Let's just talk about what he did the last year and 1/2. From alienating himself in Pittsburgh and missing a winner Go home Week 17 game. You then going to the Raiders and hurting himself by freezing his foot off. So then having an issue with the NFL helmet rule. To getting into with Mike. May I threatening to punch the guy? You secretly recording Jon Gruden. And then releasing a video after the Raiders finally released him and maybe be like I'm free. I'm free as it playing for the Raiders, making $15 million was, you know being kept in, you know. Unlivable conditions that Antonio Brown was in such a terrible life situation. He's finally free. That's what you get on the field, or, I guess technically off the field with the Raiders last year. We all know about the alleged crimes, and this guy has committed the lawsuit she's dealing with, so he's facing a suspension and you're the Texans and you're going to sign Antonio Brown Anthea traded away, arguably the game's best wide receiver. Who has never been and off the field malcontent who has always done the right thing in the Houston community, You can't sell Texans fans on Antonio Brown. If you traded away, DeAndre Hopkins, you just can't do it. Why would you trade away Hopkins to take a chance on Abie, who's facing a suspension? And we all know at some point Something's going to go wrong because it always goes wrong. For Antonio Brown. I mean, you cannot At any under any circumstance signed this guy. When everything we've heard from Bill O'Brien is he wants character guys, Bill O'Brien's cliche lines in every press conference. I've been out with him smart, dependable, reliable, tough football players. That's what we want. Antonio Brown is the opposite of every trade Bill O'Brien says he wants to be the biggest hypocrite. GM Bill O'Brien signs Antonio Brown. You can't do it. You just can't I don't care. Baby wants to play for nothing that sends the wrong message to the entire locker room. You traded DeAndre Hopkins. You gotta live with that. You deal with brains and cooks. You have will fuller Let's go figure it out. Yeah. Kenny Stills, Kiki cuties motivated to come back and play well in his third season. You made your bed now you gotta lie in it. Bring in Antonio Brown when there's going to be a condensed training camp. You think this guy's gonna follow social distancing guidelines? No shot Antonio Brown. We had every strip club in Houston by week three. It's called for what it is. He's the last guy the Texans need right now. That's the type of signing that alienated the entire locker room.

"You've got to sort of getting Kinda get in the business of it so do you see this being a big part of the NFL's business in the next fifty years. Whatever so what what I'd say is you know you. We serve our fans. That's the NFL without fans there is no NFL so so we serve our fans in different segments of fans have their own perspective on sports betting and the research we've seen as you know the the the that we've work through is something like less than Iran twenty percent of our fans actively bet on sports and then around twenty percent of our fans actively reject sports betting and and then you've got folks in the middle. You've got some do Super Bowl squares on a casual basis or might do survivor pools in their office and that whole world in some who are just in different. Our job is to serve both segments our view of sports betting is clearly really evolved as the perception of consumers have if you go back fifteen years roughly fifty percent of people oppose sports betting and then high thirty supported. It's totally inverted as it's as it's developed in the US secondly with the strike down of PASA. That's the world world. We live in today and our view is. Let's make sure we do what's best for our fans so we've been active actively a lot of being in state legislatures for clear transparent structures that protect fans that create liquid markets where information is fair There's there's no your customer anti money laundering protections. There's appropriate licensing requirements for sports book so you don't have fly by night. Dynamics sports bets are decided using official data provided by the League so there's a single source of truth and if you use one book it's a ten yard play and if you use another sportsbook it's eight yard play. That's not good for anyone so that's that's been our approach. Our overall approach on the fan side is for for adult fans who want to bet legally in legal markets we WANNA make sure that they have best in class experiences and offerings from our partners to do that for fans who want nothing to do with sports betting we don't want to negatively impact their NFL experience by overloading sports. That's Betty and I'm GonNa tell you one thing just when I either listen like to talk show that has something to do with the NFL when I watch games. I have zero no interest in gambling on sports. I've covered it for forty years and I understand. It is a fool's errand. It's just you know you're not winning. You're just not winning and so in my opinion in my opinion if people WANNA gamble I don't care it's fine. I I'm not I don't. I don't try to preach against it but I just think it's foolish be that as it. May I understand it exists but that is the first thing that turns me off and I WANNA turn the channel when I ever heard when I hear somebody talk about well there plus one thirty or whatever I mean. It's totally me. I don't even know what it means anyway and it's meaningless to me and it's like somebody talking about their fantasy football team. It just doesn't it doesn't resonate with me in any way shape but that's that's your that's totally fair and that's your personal. NFL experience given the size of our fan base one of the things we we say when you look at the data of our fan base it lines up essentially perfectly with the US census. We're a little bit younger. were racially. We're pretty much right on we are the most male female sport in the United States hands down so we've gotta serve the nation and everyone their own perspectives on sports betting people tend to over extrapolate to how much of the world sees that so if you're on twitter twitter people who bet there was something where we said roughly twenty percent of our just entertain fans actively bet in the betting communities the NFL's incredibly naive. It's fifty percent right right. I mean that's that's their perspective. People who don't like sports betting say you know it's often the corner. It's not happening. I always say hey you know my mother does not want sports betting integrated when she's watching the CBS national broadcast she and she is a you now strong NFL fan and loves it that that that is totally do by the way there are key learnings from legalized international markets of if you don't manage sports betting integration and advertising you will you will negatively impact pack fan perception the UK has this had had this in spades and passed regulation industry approved regulation to limit in game advertising because they went overboard so there's lessons there but our approach is one the good news is digital opportunities allow for self selection action so our our national TV broadcast on NBC on Sunday Night Football. We are reaching the country. That's what that's what the NFL L. provides the country in those broadcasts the TV th the national TV you don't necessarily you don't need to integrate sports betting and and and bother you also because the people who like sports betting don't aren't interested in getting their information from that that broadcast through through digital offerings through interactive experiences were fans who are interested can go find them. That's the path we're GONNA go down where it's more opt in digital in multiple experiences for different fans one thing I'd emphasize though is legislation is key. You know age limits support for responsible gambling problem gambling programs. We've been the NFL. We've been donating any any any eh portion of any sponsorship revenue we get from a casino deal or the like to responsible gaming programs for years. We're going to continue to do it and we've got strong views of how to do it correctly from including from international lessons in legislation protection on on consumer protections all of those are key to making sports betting work and making sure that the markets that develop are healthy and and don't lead to a host of other issues. Here's my last question. It's a very open ended question. Someone who is the chief strategy in growth officer officer of the NFL pro football is in its one hundred season this year and I wonder as you look at your the man who basically basically is charged with looking at the long term future of this game. What might be one or two things you're studying. You're looking at. Is there anything you can point to that. Fifteen twenty years down the road you think will be really different about pro football either how fans experienced pro football or maybe where franchises will be. It's it's a constant and topic of discussion and and my role I'm a facilitator and basically we have exceptional management team whether it's Brian Roll up in in media or Marianne Turkey and Tim Ellison Fan Development Bobby Gallo supporting clubs and Peter Riley on events our job in strategy is more helping bring it all together and figure it out so this is the collective wisdom I would say one one of the key elements of our hundredth anniversary is celebrating the incredible past of of the NFL how strong are present in is and then the reality is we stand on the shoulders of giants of both the players and the owners who've position the League for collective success and everything we have here how do we how do we drive all this momentum into the next hundred years so building on on what you're saying with respect to the to the way fans consume it. We are rigorously focused on what we call game presentation and Brian Role App on Schroder. Uh others have driven this. Of How do you make sure that the game has a pace and in Troy Vincent football folks as well have been quoted as has a pace has a rhythm that serves fans both in the stadium and on TV and matches the changes in attention span in behaviors in every sport has this issue so and we've made a lot of progress. We're GONNA continue to make it but how do you keep the rhythm going to to keep it as engaging as as possible while maintaining the strategy and what the coaches need in terms of changing lineups that's a big point of focus seconds just how people consume it and Brian and his team have ben leading that and we've been doing efforts on international but consumers have no patients you know older consumers have have some patients for for lack of control that is that is dissipating rapidly as you get younger and so you need to serve serve each set of fans with what they want when they want how they want and one of the examples that just resonates with us is how how powerful red zone is internationally and for younger audiences and if you can expose people to red zone who come into the sport our demand in the UK in Germany is all these markets is incredible for red zone. That's more idea of how many how much red zone has increased recently like in. Oh so UK and UK UK average minute audience for Red Zone is doubled over the last two years and gone from about Oh you know seventy thousand average minute audience two hundred forty thousand at any given moment and now represents you know a real chunk chunk and then Germany through a partnership with his own in that market is just seen incredible growth in the consumption there and and and it's it's more an insight on highly engaged high high velocity content resonates with those younger audiences and one of our benefits. Is You know we've got that Sunday afternoon window where we have a lot going on in other other sports may not have that same dynamic and you have predictability that something exciting's going to happen when people are in the red zone but we might as well take advantage. Chris ALP and Chief Strategy and growth officer the national football. It's been a pleasure the NFL international series begins this Sunday at the new Tottenham Stadium Chicago and Oakland Oakland and you know thought it was a real bummer that that Oakland played Chicago over in England. I mean it's it's a treat for the British fans. Don't get me wrong but I wanted Khalil mack to play one more game in his life in Oakland. This is it. This is his last opportunity to play football game in Oakland and I hope the people fifty four hundred miles away in Tottenham realized realized that this weekend I think I think they will be incredibly excited about seeing Khalil Mack and the raiders there and the energy around you now these two great franchises being there to open that stadium is is everywhere in the markets were excited Chris Halpin. Thanks a lot thanks. Peter my thanks to Kenny stills increase helping for their time and I would I would just end by saying I continue to be impressed with the quality quality of podcast on.

"And the Panthers Plane Thirty one of the thirty two teams will now have played in London which is pretty incredible all except packers all except the packers who we are. We are excited to get there at some point and in the London fans. That's an annual question in any fan in form of of when the packers will be there but it will happen so you know on an inventory basis of games. We've clearly had momentum through with a transition teams. we've got continued opportunities in league resolutions that mandate certain teams to play. We've also got teams that proactively or raising their her hand to be playing games I in in London Mexico other places so we're focused on thinking about the the next five to ten years. How do we set up the right series of of inventory of games markets were in I stadium partners and commitments to get it there we just met with owners on this Tuesday in Houston their strong support and and there's a few different paths were pursuing. What would you say Chris about the possibility of going to a different venue than London London or Mexico City and I I mean I think specifically to some of the places that I know you have targeted like either Beijing aging or Shanghai or Australia or someplace that is truly international. Is there a chance that you go oh to a very different venue absolutely and the the learning of the International Series Games credit to to mark Waller in the team for driving this program. Is that when you bring regular season. NFL Games that matter sadder into market and you expose fans to it it it has a multiplier effect on all of your existing Phantom in everything you're doing locally on the flip side aid doing a one off game without marketing programs that that drive into it and build off it is a stunt that is not worth it and and I think some of the other experiences of International Games and other leagues is you can't just show up in expect them to come and think that's going to have enough momentum you. I need you need real existing. Phantom and you know three hundred sixty five day media partners inactivation to build off the game and built fandom and at the end into the day everything we do international is about driving international fans so there are due for instance right now in China what's going on in China so China. We've got strong streaming partnerships. We have a team based in Shanghai. that is got a few she basically three core efforts one is overall distribution and awareness of the game through streaming through social media through marketing the second is grassroots football through flag program which works well for us in a Lotta these international markets you have any idea how many people in China play flag football I believe right now. It's about north of ten thousand but more than I would have thought well. It's also a lot of people and the it's going to keep growing and we've also got existing existing football leagues there that have been place small but but there the but the other the other key part is overall marketing and connecting into local agencies and media partners just to spread awareness of NFL football the ball and then we've got our streaming product game pass and others. I think relative to one of the key learnings we've had is that time zones are can be impediments or be sources of strength so Canada Mexico great fan momentum really strong media partnerships excellent metrics across the board actually got a lot of growth in Brazil and we're doing more on streaming to to capture that and we we line up well. They're Europe. We're in a pretty good spot because the one o'clock and four o'clock windows on Sunday eh including red zone are Sunday evening right and Germany is a phenomenal market for us right now. Are All of our metrics. Germany are incredible. Aren't you going to do your international combine this fall in Germany we are I. I heard that Scott Paoli is going to go over and help run that and we've got an it's the we had the international combine in Australia. Previously we're having it in Germany accessing accessing even more foreign athletes you know in that feeds directly into our international players pathway program which has been a huge success we had four four players picked up through that this year including Christian Wade who was a star in the preseason for the bills and then Yaacob the Bionson became the first full. Ip Player to be on an NFL roster playing a game this last Sunday from from Germany Atrium for the Patriots. Let's kind of fast forward here and go to your game in Mexico City November eighteenth chiefs chargers urges Azteca stadium last year obviously the debacle with the field that forced the Kansas City game against the rams to be be played in Los Angeles what has happened in the intervening year that makes you feel like it won't be a field debacle this year a number of things. I'd say one you know last year they encounter the confluence of a lot of different challenges oranges and whether it was rain extraordinary rain the planting of a new hybrid field a number of concerts there was just a series series of of of challenges through our partnership with Azteca coming out of that they have worked very closely and and been fully on board with our recommendations so the hybrid field was torn up it is now a pure grass field our recommended field consultant has has been overseeing the development monitoring there've been no concerts on it which was really what damaged it last year and then through our or extensive planning there was not a savage summer of rain this past year so just just just to put the point on our folks were down in their the field has been great but our our folks were down there Monday Tuesday of last week and it is in excellent shape and so and and there's just a regular slater soccer games between them now but we feel very good about the field condition yeah I mean the weather obviously had something to do with it but the overuse of that stadium before that game game was just that was just a killer Let's I WANNA ask you one thing about. You're bringing Mahomes a homes mania to Mexico. City and I know Andy Reid. Andy Reid is going there to play a football game not for Mahomes Mania Ania so it's GonNa it strikes me that Patrick mahomes in some football crazy country which is what Mexico is absolutely. Those people are going to be crazy for Patrick Mahomes so you're going to have to almost it's GonNa be a pretty secure environment. You'RE GONNA I have to kind of keep them. Keep him under wraps probably well and we've you know the I was at the Patriots Raiders Game. Tom Brady be people saw it on social media him walking down the ramp coming in was one of the biggest roars. I've heard anywhere I mean that is a incredibly ably football savvy market yeah that people have huge energy mahomes coming in and there's there's also there's a lot of energy for the chargers in that market as well. Both the chiefs and chargers have a lot of energy in Mexico. It's going to be a Iraq is place now the security thirty and Cathy Lanier and our folks amazing job in planning infrastructure and Azteca this is our this is going to be our our fourth time. I'm planning there so we feel good about that but it's the exciting part of bringing the best of NFL football to a NFL. Oh mad market on Monday night. It's extraordinary and that's that's the fun part of this job for all of us to to bring those teams a rivalry regain a divisional game to that market. is going to be great. We've only got a couple of minutes left but let's over two or three more things as sort of the chief strategy in growth officer the one thing I'd be remiss in not asking about is gambling gambling and the impact if at all on the NFL right now inserted a long term prospect but I do want to ask you told me last year. It's something that I thought was really really interesting that for those who don't live in the northeast. There's a big bridge. It's called the George Washington Bridge and it connects ex New York in New Jersey. It connects Manhattan Upper Manhattan and you go over the bridge in your in Fort Lee New Jersey but there's a gambling law in the state of New Jersey is that you can gamble on sports in New Jersey. You have to be physically in New Jersey correct correct to be able to gamble and you told me last year that man that bridge gets kinda crowded before one o'clock on Sunday afternoon because people want to go over and place their bets that's on NFL Games. Is that a thing really absolutely so as background be Supreme Court struck down past boat which forbade obeyed states beyond essentially Nevada from legalizing sports betting when that was legal New Jersey had been the the most prepared aired they legalized and the market the market is evolving to about sixteen states that have legalized the the the key element that F- that fans will maybe confused by or is different about the US than other legalize sports betting markets is it is state by state so each state will decide when if and then how they legalize the reality is there's been a massive illegal sports betting the market in the US for years and people know that what what has been last known as it's overwhelmingly done on offshore digital sports books. It isn't the very much smaller element these days of going dear to your bookie. Physically it is it is done through these illegal sites that that that you can access through your mobile phone what it means is any state that legalizes a key element of what they're doing is getting the legal market to legalize in being the sunlight of legal regulation and to do that. You've got a if you're competing with offshore digital title sports books you you really need to allow online betting and so. New Jersey legislation allows betting through mobile phones you you just need to register in that account in with a with a sportsbook in that market and then physically located when you place the bet and in New York right right now they're they're continuing to advance the legislation but sports betting is only approved within casinos which predominantly upstate and last year it was illegal in New York and so an operator Raider showed us to your point the volume of mobile phones that would be blocked from being able to bet in New Jersey until they come into the across the border and then it's because it's Geo fenced. They're then able to to bet and then they can go to the sports book. That's near ah the meadowlands sports book in that area or they can bet on their phone but it very much is about where you're Baso so new. It's been aw publicly speculated that you know maybe twenty percent of the bedding in New Jersey last year were from residents of Pennsylvania or New York who who drove over to bet in that market so it's very much where you are when you place that bet and that's going to continue to evolve in as some states allow online some states don't legalize and people live on borders and so theoretically if I pass if I go over the George Washington Bridge. I pull over to the side of the road in Fort Lee. I make my bet I can just turn around then obviously go home and see how my I bet does. That's a lot of people do that it. It's hard for me to say I would. I would think that's entirely possible yeah yeah and how about long-term gambling and and this is something that the NFL used to treat like with the back of Tan but now you know obviously because it's becoming legalized..

"I continue to do it because we do have issues that we need to bring light to in our country and that we need to do something about and I can't. I can't do something about it you know because of my profession and when I do you know throughout the season but an offseason on Joe my best to educate myself herself on how I can get a ball and how skied others so you know I don't I don't see the kneeling being something that stops 'cause people don't understand or they don't want to they don't see and so it's it's my responsibility as someone in the in the public to try and help educate them and show them all the things that we need to Kenny. I want to end with this you told the ESPN earlier this year that you understand that if if by what you do off the field and by by by kneeling if one day nobody in the NFL wants to sign you and I quote. I love playing ball. I've been doing it for twenty years but I know I can do something else. I'm prepared if I end up on the street and nobody signs me. I'm I'm fine with it. You seem to have a very pragmatic view of what activism might do to your career. Where are you truly at peace with one hundred percent one hundred percent. Obviously I'd miss a game. I miss the competition I miss the I'm Andrea and being around the guys in the locker room. you know. I I'm okay with that. You know I've got to be able to look at myself in the year every night you know and every morning when I wake up before I go to bed you know I'm happy with the decisions that I've made and the person that I've become the man that you know I'm trying to be in that. I WanNa be so that means. I can't be a part of you know the NFL or can't play football and it is what it is but I've got to be able to live with myself and be be powerful and you know. I said that was the last thing but I do want to ask you. One other. Thing just occurred to me. What have you what do you think you've learned in. The police ride alongs that you've done and then why do you do those. I wanted to punch. You know I've been able to do you know obviously to see what what they're going through and and what they're doing on a day to day basis but also you know to get in and and do a traffic stop simulator you know and and you know be and their officers shoe and and you know pretend like. I've got a fake gun or whatever and it's and it's all computerized and everything but I'm you know I'm doing a traffic. Stop and you know I've got a you know. Try to come out of you know the situation safe and also you know the person that we pulled over that person's. GotTa try to come out of and statement. You know just learning different perspectives. I guess is what I'm trying to say. It's about an office of the officer and so you know a lot of the time that I spend out you know when I mentor and speaking of the kids is just you know how to handle themselves you know when when they are confronted you know with the I pulled over or you know the deal on forsman and that's you know to be respectful regardless of that. They're abusing their power or how they're talking to you or whatever happened. Respectful you want to go home safe and you're not the one with the gun in hand so you know just learning different perspective and I think that's important for everyone that disagrees as you know my stance. you know what. I'm doing what I'm saying. I think it's just important for us to try and be in another person's shoes and try and see their perspective given see where they're coming from and everything that I've ever done or status has been you know out of love and so just you know continue to try and do that and you know. I'm over that conversations with people that don't understand you know. I think we've always come on those conversations with a little bit more understanding Kenny stills. I really appreciate appreciate you taking time and talking. I think what you're doing is admirable and I hope that in a luminated this I think I really hope that people learn a little bit about who you are just beyond the kneeling and I really appreciate you joining me no problem I appreciate if people want more information they can check on my social media channels my website there's tons of information and yeah look forward to talking to you too and now how in advance of the NFL starting it's five game international series this week the league will open up a new football venue in Tottenham in London. It's also a dual purpose stadium the Tottenham Hotspur of the Premier League play there and now there there will be a minimum of two games per year played on this field onfield turf in Tottenham in for the next ten years this this year the series begins this week with a very interesting matchup. The Khalil Mack Bowl Chicago versus Oakland so here is Chris Halpin. I'm in the National Football League offices today on Park Avenue in New York. I'm I'm in the Office of Chris Alpin the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer of the National Football League the NFL is in his one hundredth year so there but there's still a lot of growth as everybody who follows the League knows but I've come here today to talk about a couple of things number. One is the international series which is coming up which falls falls under Chris Halprin's purview and just to refresh everyone this coming Sunday week five Chicago at Oakland. We'll be in the new. NFL Stadium in Tottenham which is now going to be a combined football slash soccer stadium that game is week five now and week six Carolina against Tampa also at the Tottenham Stadium that is October thirteenth then in week week eight Cincinnati and the rams play at Wembley Stadium. That's October twenty seven the following week Houston and Jacksonville week nine at Wembley numbly November third then November eighteenth the sort of makeup game at Azteca Stadium. They'll finally get to see the Great Pat Patrick Mahomes Mahomes Kansas City chiefs in the Los Angeles chargers in Mexico City on November eighteenth at as tech stadium presumably and we'll get add to that with good turf on the field. That's excellent so anyway Chris. Thanks a lot for joining me today. Thank you Peter so let's start with a couple of things about this new stadium in Tottenham for people who don't know it and don't know really anything anything about it this will be the NFL's attempt in England to basically have a a stadium that was designed designed for Football Wembley. Stadium is a fine stadium and it's huge but it was not designed for football. It was designed for soccer. Tell me a little bit about the bells bells and whistles at Tottenham that people watching the game this weekend may notice yeah thank you. Peter and the partnership with Tottenham one of the premier sure soccer international football franchises in the world developed over many years where Daniel Levy and the leadership of of Tottenham love the NFL see the incredible growth we've had in the United Kingdom and the fan experience that our NFL games over there and came to us and we developed partnership Mark Waller whoever saw international for over a decade built that with Daniel of saying let's build something truly special in the the UK market and really the first specifically built stadium internationally for for Pro sports sports anywhere from coming from the US and the stadium itself is was designed for key elements elements that serve NFL Games so there is a NFL field that lies under the soccer pitch the grass soccer pitch retracts in the NFL field field built to our standards underneath that on per weird is the NFL field live then it lives underneath it's a field turf surface and the and the grass for for soccer is above and then that is retracted and pulled back under the stadium white is there need to be two fields why can't the NFL field also grass specifics of development and then relative to growing the grass. It's given that it's underneath the soccer pitch for what it was untenable to have a soccer field you oh you simultaneously or used a few days later for an NFL field our view. Is You know best in class so to make sure that that feels similar to you know best in class field turf fields in our stadium have that always be there and not have to worry about any impact of soccer games on on that field while we're about to have game right but also they are. NFL Specific Locker Rooms which when folks tourism mm-hmm and we've got a video of a number of NFL players who were in Tottenham in July for the launch of our NFL Academy which I'm sure we'll talk about but the the players when they saw these locker rooms the facilities the training rooms steam coaches facilities including male and female coaches facilities as as that continues to grow in the League. specifically then is in the locker room. There's going to be a separate area for for women yes and that's a policy league-wide as as a standard of of as the number of female coaches continues to grow make sure that they have there the appropriate facilities for their use and then also the the press briefing areas are NFL fell standard and and Daniel nine team as they developed the stadium toward a lot of the new US NFL Stadia and saw the best in class facilities press briefing rooms hospitality that have been developed in Dallas in Atlanta in Minneapolis and brought a lot of those elements to Tottenham so the the the player facilities he's the press infrastructure very specifically developed for the NFL the other thing when when people see this facility polity the the quality of the seeding the verticality which is one of the great elements of a lot of the international soccer stadia stadia combined with an f. l. level hospitality the skywalk the specific elements that that that tied to Tottenham history but also full flexibility in NFL level digital screens ability to adapt the stadium am to each home team's colors logos hospitality through technology it is truly all best in class so I it is a real crowning moment of the of the work that has been built in the investment in the Phantom in the UK and ties to to what the Jaguars have been doing what we've been doing at Wembley and other tests of the level of our avidity and fandom handed in that market the momentum we have there and the NFL's commitment is you know I thought was very interesting last year and we'll get to the the Wimbley portion also thought was very interesting last year when you were doing the obviously the long-term stadium at Tottenham and yet Jacksonville has this affinity for Wembley and they're going over there to play at least one game every year. Does does this say to you that eventually you believe there will be. There could be two teams in the London market. it's hard to predict addict how all how all of that would play out Jacksonville has been a great partner in their commitment to that market their local. Fan Development and plain regular games there the the fan momentum and love of the NFL is there for for All four of these Games are sold out yes and and the demand was exceptional this year I mean when we put the Tottenham tickets on on the market they were twelve times oversubscribed and and sold out in about forty five minutes so the cost to go to a game it's it's pretty comparable to to to a US stadium. It's you know plus or minus one hundred pounds for the average seat and what's interesting especially as our fan incites what's the capacity at Tottenham Tottenham about sixty five five thousand and so smaller than Wembley which is about eighty and when when folksy the stadium it's AH brilliantly designed parts of it. Remind me a lot of Seattle with with the overhang the south endzone or as as we call it is a large with no brakes ramp up of seats that is a great source of noise and Energy got the roof that reflects noise down like Seattle and is it. Is it a it's a Dome Stadium. It is not so so the there's a center is open and but there's there's a covers over the side for rain and things like that right and so this is the the other thing about the games in especially in London. You know it's been kind of convenient in the last couple of years. Here's because you've had three teams that are sort of between facilities so that the rams the chargers and the raiders know that until until they get into their new venue they are subject to play an international game every year. Jacksonville obviously wants to play an international game every year. So how will it be affected if let's just assume that the raiders and the rams and the chargers are all in their new venues and US next year so how difficult is it free. GonNa be for you guys to to sort of find a quorum to you know to get to to get games so especially these these four games that have been fabulously successful over in London. Yeah I'd say a few things. One the teams the teams have have fully bought into plane internationally and teams in owners are only growing growing more excited about building their brands internationally as our players who the momentum behind player visits to international markets as the next. I generation of players want to be global athletes. there's even greater player demand to do trips to be to do activation internationally around is this games so as a sign of the the support of the teams to play internationally with this series of games with the Texans.

"Jimmy i believe is on his final day of vacationing. Take the blue eminem kabo. He'll be back on monday all right so let's get to a highlight for our discussion earlier about brian flores in addition to being a jay z. The fan brian floors appears to be a fan of eminem and the movie eight mile floors undress steals the way immense character rabbit exposed the fraudulence of of his rap nemesis papa doc and if you're talking about brian floors did he. I made sure that kenny stills kept his eyes prize on the field all right marcellus. Are you convinced brian floor will be the first bella check disciple to be a success the first man genius hobie watch the ours are brian. No i know what you're saying next level right. No i'm not convinced as much as i like brian floors literally love this guy trying to lay some up just to play for him because of the way he is presenting himself and he was a tremendous d. coordinator pump the brakes. I had a lot of teammates that i liked their personality. I need to wait it. They carry themselves but when bullets alive is a whole different animal. He needs to go out there and win this next level as a head coach. I think that football culture and miami are too tough deals and so i i think as miami's always been a party city mhm at one it was cocaine capital at one time and but now with south beach and the enormous well that now the players have i. I think that hurts football in miami. I think that's why the u has struggled. There's just so much to do so much to offer and there's so so much temptation that i think that's one of the tougher cities to have consistent success and that's why i think so. Many guys are failing there and look and look. Miami's always always had his temptations but i think the temptations are now larger and the players have more access to income and enjoy those things and so i think the core i think he took a job ebina tough place yeah great point but what about new york l._a. Vegas is coming. I mean there's a lotta great programs. I think it's tough yeah but they post to you. You all to happen to you. The all those you players are just local cats a lot and then all of a sudden they're like oh. We're going down near to get all right so let's get to our approval. Rating for brian flores job performance. I have met a fifteen. I need some regular-season information before i can go tired of all time great. He's black n._f._l. Head coaches read big four super bowl. Titles titles with the patriots are going to give him some. They're eight character twenty-three authenticity twenty four seventy all star okay. I take issue with your job performance. It's too late. I mean to low washes washes say last game. He did coach as a regular. Season was a super bowl win. Three points the rams. He was the d. coordinator internet so you gotta give them high and they call it. Yeah yeah i love this is character. He wants to address the real authenticity. Twenty-five we'll be back monday monday awful jimmy..

"With lock them wildly james. Here's doug gottlieb rabat. Let's move to the cowboys where the drama over dak prescott in ezekiel elliot's contracts continues to build with hall of famer marshall faulk himself into the situation yesterday foxhole rich the rich eisen show oh that he's headed to kabul to train with z and added a shot a deck in just for good measure saying the cowboys quarterback will be quote bum after he gets paid. Wow do we think marshall faulk is speaking for ezekiel elliot here <hes>. Tom is no coincidence. His intentions are to speak for zeki but they're not gonna benefit zeke in this situation. Look if you're going to take a shot like that and your name is marshall faulk put aside their own. At at least nobody were discovered. This is too much. This is so over the top. It actually undermines his his credibility. Dax bomb hear how bad you think that is all. That's not what he said. He said. After he gets the contract he iraq put him in a bomb category well any respect. That's a prediction. That's that's an unfair prediction. You say de san is going to be thirty eighty degrees in california. No no listen. I think he's saying is and again. This is how i perceive what he's saying. We're we evaluate dak prescott now because he was a fourth round pick making no money and he was thrust into the same man considering all that man he's great but if you watch that prescott now if he's making thirty five million dollars a year here and he's and he's the exact same player. Our perception of him is completely different. He's he has because that's the second most wins. Stop just oh ball <music>. Have you been in the wake up again. The pro some wins come on man because he's the numbers held arguments when it's for somebody lying down on an actual numbers plane yes they're good. They're average that come come on. He's middle of the pack as a quarterback really his numbers are better than carson wis and y'all know russia will hold on hold on in his second year. K had what thirty three touchdown passes seven receptions. They were levin into your stop with the he's better than carson wins coming off an a._c._l. And had an advocate jack prescott scott light-years cows people saying look. I lost my prime because injury. Ain't nobody care in me either. I don't wanna hear her comeback. We'd record to record. We're we're told resume. Resume resume was dak prescott ever in the discussion of the m._v._p. Not one genie to arza legit question was he ever in the conversation being the n._p._r. Was carson wentz. Gonna be the m._v._p. League got hurt. Oh yes you just gave me a forecasts about dax and he's gonna be a bum and now you'll make another forecast. If you dig it hurt he got hurt. Who knows we didn't do those labs games. Hello duck fee. Football lately was gleaned fast. Let's see a leading leading candidate to be the man i don't. I don't i don't i don't. I don't think marshall faulk was speaking for zeke..

"All along daniel when it's time to play he's going to be ready. We're going continue to get him ready and we have a couple of weeks left before we play dallas. That sounds like he's opened the door for the kid potentially week one. Uh let me clarify and let's bring us all together and consolidate pat shurmur is not david settlement so this whole narrative y'all we can't not based on what they did and if one is my boss it runs downhill so therefore i didn't correct him but now what's happened is daniel jones is corrected elected everything in terms of his narrative into preseason which i understand you always tell me stink what it doesn't callen count but it doesn't matter mattress right so you just gave roll out of bed getting the preseason playing against and just ball be the best passer unless you got something there right so if i'm pat shurmur i do flaws loss. I do flex. I do instill that confidence in him because why not i'm not playing this guy more than likely this year and mc breed said it ain't no future in your guess what there's a future in him front and right now for him because he's not going to go out there and have to deal with these bullets. Eli is the starter for this team allies. I will be the guy that has to go out there and deal with this. We're going to continue to get him ready and we have a couple of weeks left before we played dallas bright. He's not playing against. Are you kidding me. One record set allies started week. One get them ready. Get them ready so he could be prepared to the backup. You think he's gonna be the start. I was jimmy. He's left the door open slightly ajar. I got up on his chest like that yeah again the media soon as those three straight incompletions they say oh yeah i know but but the owner john maher came out and said we're going to redshirt him. Dave gettleman came out and said we're going to redshirt him and pat shurmur. I come out and saying that that's the plan. I do think we were reading it. I think feeling it and listening to it a little bit different. I there's two types of backup backup of quarterbacks either a guy who's got to be ready for that or a guy who simply going to get the starter ready and i think he's obviously a guy who has got to be ready. In case that opportunity comes he doesn't get hurt and and we're just waiting to see if eli has season like the way payton. There's not a lot of independent thinkers in the n._f._l. There's a lot of group think and you know what's happened. Everybody's drafted these as quarterbacks and said hey we're going to sit them and then they all play them whether it's bortles or whoever else it s right bortles torn up in the preseason day night right but here's the deal here's the difference andy andy reid had the wherewithal and the courage and the onions to sit mahomes. Even though mahomes was exceptionally talented now he had a great quarterback alex smith or really good quarterback. He let him sit for the entirety of the year and you know what now like. I said there's a lot of group that goes on all the other general manager going. Wow oh wow look at that. It's a great way to develop a quarterback right now. All of a sudden everybody goes way. Maybe we can do that so you've got drew lock in denver. You've got you know daniel. Jones jones here with the giants like there's a lot of teams and i've talked to general manager. Thank this way as far as developing their guys now as opposed to baptism by fire it was for years yes but you have goffin trubisky who had awful i years and look.

"Has nothing the new deal with you kneeling. I'm sending a message to everybody. You can protest. You can do all those things i applaud you for. I applaud you for your beliefs but make no bones about doubted. If you know perform you don't make this football team and it has nothing to do with with ever stance. You're taking and i think it's he had to a clear the air on that because when when when when kenny stills i came out of made the comments over twitter about stephen ross one of my first thought was oh dan i wonder if there's jobs in jeopardy and if he is using this as deodorant or as proof for you can't cut me is is that the plate is going there and and it seems like a cover up to me and brian four has politely called it out for what it liz and it'll be interesting to see if the rest of the media does some homework to see brian floors right here because he he's looking to cost performance formats. If things don't go right don't come to me talking about this because he took a knee. He's here to play football and all of this noise about non football. Stuff is hurting me. Wa wow now you have drawn between what happened with capri nick and what's going on with cancer. Profile is now a parallel in terms of dr harry edwards some say his former advisor capper knicks certainly in adviser when he first started kneeling toll roger goodell. Don't make a martyr order out of him. Basically give them an opportunity to play and play this out because if not what's going to happen is if he loses his opportunity everyone's i was going to blame it on this situation and not oh performance supposedly dale and take that fully to heart and we know the results of that so right now. This could be cover ver- marsha. I do think they took it to heart. I think the forty niners allow cabinet to go that entire season the way they did because they didn't didn't want to look like they were upset about him nearly so i i do think i think they played too soft with cabinet early. They should've shut it down. I don't think i think cabinet could've still got back into this league as a backup to somewhere or got an opportunity. That's that's yeah that's facts. That's here and we're said there's no teams were interested. We know what happened with the ravens because of nessa also if you went into the seattle situation denver was trying to train his value was dropping. Would you be a backup. Will you service a starter. No i won't okay now. We're in this reality. You can now label or mislabeled labeled at blackballed or you really don't want all the opportunities that exist. You're basically the basically and i'm one hundred percent. I mean i think that i think that certainly there are teams. Who said he was a want. That noise i can't or that noise is a bunch of those teams. There were teams that were willing to say if you're willing to be a backup and and if you don't want if you don't want that opportunity i mean most of us have had to go through that. Most of us have had a fight to stay in this league or be a backup. I think we're leaving out one word or are you willing to be a backup and take a backup salary was the other thing is well. Put a real high price tag. It seems on what he was willing to play for war and teams like i. I'm not meeting. That's why the denver situation where two year seven million dollars. He's like. I'm not doing that. Seattle was more probably service russell wilson and not it kind of what i'm sorry. The denver situation was was because obviously i live in number was hey..

"That's baloney. That's garbage. Let me say this and your speech is wonderful. If your name is ezekiel elliott or a thousand percent okay but i'm going to say it is jerry has cut the biggest piece of pie for that prescott the other thirty one teams dug a pizza pie but it won't be as big as he doesn't have that kind of value anywhere else and jason and telling you hey man man. This cowboy thing is stalling helmet deck. If you do all these other things there's money to be made long after you're done playing beyond the dollars <hes> the equity value and look. I love the fact and i agree with you. We should feel sorry for owners <hes> but i also respect the other guy across from the table who is sitting there saying saying this is home or business so deck. He's gonna sell pressure. Don't mean you gotta fill the pressure. You gotta start to believe in yourself. I do want to free agency. Good luck with that but but at the same time. I'm not going to tell jerry jones to run his business because he's doing what you're supposed to do. If you're a businessman sure how to get the most value and deck is doing what he needs to do. I'm sure it through his agent trying to get the most money and that's where we are right now. Just four show me where i hear your point but show me where jerry jerry jones has been disloyal to any of his longtime cowboy players demarcus marijuana super bowl in denver don't do that imas myth cowboy and he wanted to be a cowboy but the field has gotten what many years was johnson works here. You know how you got here. I the new trump marcel on the middle do that. I knew went to jail and jerry still standing waiting. I'm going to court with michael. Irvin zeke's been an idiot. His whole career jerry stood by an yeah. The g._m. Takes care his guy days. Go thank you see one on one example talking about where has jerry not been loyal to his his players more so than it is about the loyalty of what your job represents so when i made that comment when i say it it doesn't have anything it doesn't have to be based upon who he's been loyal to in the past versus where he is currently at right now as it applies to what will take place with this contract situation. If it does not work out at some point they have to get rid of of him based upon cap space whatever the business decision will be they will make that decision is what i'm saying. There is no loyalty in business. Business is business. That's why they say. Don't take it personal just biz. I would agree over the course of time <hes> you're right. It's just gonna be all business thing but in particular moments with ezekiel elliott to me jerry's been law to me with dak prescott. I would have drafted a quarterback this year. That would have been my move. 'cause i wouldn't be as loyal as jerry. I'll be like hey hey man. It's been nice what you've done but if you're gonna play silly about this contract we we will start look tenure loyalty. Can you loyalty be exercised in a personal personal capacity because the question what what you're raising right now is we're blurring lines between what loyalty and businesses can. I be cool which you jerry as somebody who worked for you play for you even if we don't get this contract if we do get this contract done. It may not be as much as i wanted it to be. Can we still be cool on a personal level. See loyalty to me comes and play on a personal on a personal level not in business. It does not exist in the volume of business. It's loyalty does not exempt one thing and i will tell you about jerry jones the players that played jerry jones that were his guys. He's been incredibly loyal to them. He's put them in business. Deals takes care of his former players. That's what he was saying that no question wink..
Dolphins' Stills says his criticism of owner isn't political
"One other thing. We wanted to make sure you were last night and that is that in miami dolphins receiver kenny stills once again took a knee during the playing of the national anthem is continued protests coming today after he tweeted criticism of team owner stephen ross and an upcoming fundraiser that ross's having for president trump stills says that ross cannot host a fundraiser for the president and fight for equality at the same time and then stills was asked about it all following last night's game doesn't like put me against <hes>. Mr ross is just you know i'm. I'm just trying to like informed him that hey like the two things don't align i i mean. I don't think it's that complicated. I i don't have any hard feelings towards in. There's no like beef. It's just like hey these things. Don't align and maybe somebody else told you but i'm like you know. It's important to to me that we know that the work that we're doing isn't just lip. Service is real- i asked him. Why didn't talk to the owner. Why didn't talk steve. I <hes> before before <hes> you know putting something out and i think that's something that who we have to do. More of there's gotta be more communication communication more conversation more <hes> just more communication if we want to really make change now. I wish he would have done that and i i mean i i told him that this of course there's something people have been talking about for several days in case you hadn't seen it. Stephen ross released this statement wednesday at reads in part art quote. I have known donald trump for forty years. While we agree on some issues we strongly disagree on many others and i've never been bashful about expressing my opinions he added i have been and we'll continue to be an outspoken champion of racial equality inclusion diversity public education and environmental sustainability and i haven't will continue to support leaders on both sides of the gal to address these challenges.
Dolphins WR Stills stands by criticism of owner
"I'd like to commend dolphins receiver kenny stills else and dolphins owner stephen ross for the respectful way. They've handled their disagreement over. President trump on wednesday steals question ross's decision listen to host a fundraiser for the sitting president tweeting. You can't have a nonprofit with this mission statement and then open your doors to trump stills reference ross's awesome rise initiative which promotes racial equality and and improve race relations given the mainstream media onslaught to paint the president as the most destructive man in human history stills question is reasonable and appropriate sobers ross's reply in a written statement rossett always have been active an active participant in the democratic process while some prefer to sit outside of the process and criticize. I have no problem with stills using social media to question his boss or any authority. Not only is it appropriate. It's healthy. I just hope still willing to listen and engage with ross and others who disagree with his point of view i just hope still strong enough and confident enough to choose engagement and dialogue over divisive counterproductive and distracting acting protests during the national anthem protests and other forms of civil disobedience are effective tools when your gold
Cardinals trade QB Josh Rosen to Dolphins for picks
"I wanna get back to the Josh Rosen thing for a second from the Miami perspective. So Miami sitting there Chris grayer, the general manager says all right? I'm going to trade out of the forty eighth pick. And then the sixty second pick and fifth round pick. That's gonna get Josh Rosa. Okay. That's what I'm giving up for Josh Rosen about it. From Miami's perspective. They're like all we have to give up for a guy that could be the future of our organization could be our franchise quarterback for the next ten to fifteen years. All we have to give up. You're telling me is the sixty second pick. And a fifth round pick next year. Oh, yeah. I'll do that. And then the other elements this for Miami's perspective, you realize that basically has paid Josh Rosen toll contract almost right? So Miami's on the hook for six million dollars Arizona's paid ten million. So they're barely paying Josh Rosen any money. So this is like the best of both worlds for Miami. Miami's like okay, we didn't have to give up much to get him. And he was a guy that went tenth in the draft a season ago. A lot of people had him ranked higher than any of the quarterbacks in this draft. And by the way, we had to give up nothing to get the guy. We gave up the sixty second pick end to the second round pick and a fifth rounder next year. That's all it costs us to possibly find the future of our organization, and even if okay, even if he doesn't work out who cares. We lost a second round pick at the end of the second round really third round pick. If you look at the end of the second and fifth round pick, and he's only costing a six million dollars. That's all it costs us so Miami. It was almost like. Wait, really, this is this is all you want. Yeah. We'll do it. We'll take the chance on Rosen. We like the player, we'll take the chance on them. Now. The one thing that does give me caution with Miami is Josh Rosen set up to succeed there because you look at it. And we mentioned some of it earlier, but pro football focus ranks offense of lines and the NFL and last year the last ranked line was the cardinals. They were thirty seconds. Okay. And Josh Rosen was playing for the autocar does. He had no protection. He also did not have many people to throw the ball to not named Larry FitzGerald. The offense could never really figure out how to work under Mike McCoy, and then Byron left which now the thing that he benefits from in Miami is he's got a better coaching staff. There. Chatto shea who comes over from the patriots was the receivers coach there. He takes over as the offensive coordinator, and Jim Caldwell who's been in the league forever. He takes over as the quarterbacks coach. So Josh Rosen will be better coached in Miami than he wasn't Ariana. But some of the problems that he had an zone. Are going to repeat themselves when you're looking at it seem like the Miami Dolphins. So I wonder from a personnel standpoints the coaching will be better. But from a personnel standpoint if Josh Rosen isn't putting a position where he's going to have the same type of issues heated last year because if you look at pro football, focus, how they rank Miami's line they ranked Miami's line thirty first in the NFL last year. So the only team to Miami was Arizona. So Josh Rosen goes from the worst line in the NFL. According to pro football, focus to the second worse line in the NFL. And if you look at it they did draft ticket in the third round out of Wisconsin, Michael that apparently can play all over the line, but you on James left. He decided to go to Denver side a big time contract. Now, you do have new line coach in there as well. Pat Flaherty, I believe offense of line coaches. Some of the most underrated coaches in the NFL. There's no explanation for how the patriots continue to have good offensive line play other than Dante scar Nekia because these guys go elsewhere like Nate sold or any stinks. The guy. Not good anymore. And then they break in guys that perform at a high level like Trent Brown was a cast off in San Francisco. He goes to the patriots, then becomes the highest payed left tackle on the market. What he signs with the raiders? Okay. So offense of line coaches are highly underrated in terms of their importance to the team. So maybe a new system there in Miami. Maybe they can protect Josh Rosen better. But I just wonder from Josh Rosen perspective if this is the right landing spot from the personnel. I'm happy is getting a new opportunity somewhere else. Because clearly it would have been a mess there in Arizona if they kept him there. But in terms of what Miami has to offer Josh Rosen. It seems like he's not being put in a situation where he's got to be able to have success. And that's the issue. I have because last year we saw the guy was completely beat up. He took a ton of hits last year. And it seems like based on what Miami has in terms of. Devante parker. Kenny stills doesn't have a lot of weaponry. Then they had a poor offensive line last year, it appears they're going to have a bad offensive line. Again. I just wonder does Josh. Rosen actually have a legitimate chance to actually

But moments ago Ryan tannehill caught a touchdown pass from Kenny stills that made it fourteen to seven and then. Reshad Jones just ran back. "Because in my opinion, he's a speedster ease ease a problem when the footballs in his hands is just not getting enough touches you're paying him. Like one of those up rush on why receivers at least saw number two by his contract. You gotta find a way. Again, the ball. You gotta you gotta get in touch because at ten days offense isn't producing it's one of the most disappointing things when you got Adam gays who, you know, he's an offense gurus this mastermind, but he doesn't find ways to playmakers football. And that's a problem. Sure. You can blame Ryan tannehill. He missed him more than enough times. Brock Osweiler missed him more than enough time strapped cheer. But good coaches. Find ways to get their playmakers of football. You have to his case to the ball. And I don't think he was out of touch forty said, I think he meant it. I do think, you know, PR came up and said, you know, you got to clear things up because it's not a good look. But at the end, they still he's part of the reason he not getting the football part. The reason dolphins are struggling right now. Get Kenny stills of football. That's just another thing. We're going to put in our back pocket for only discuss this team as a whole at the end of the season. But you're right in a current moment. The fact that Kenny stills is seeing a dramatic decrease. In targets is absolutely mind. Boggling. Yes. Brock Osweiler came in. We know that rock cannot throw the deep ball and Kenny stills as more of a deep guy than an intermediate guy. This season so far through. Twelve games. He had five the first game. Second game was three. So that's eight through two games and another fibers Oakland. That's thirteen than six verse. New England that's nineteen than five or Cincinnati. That's twenty four then brought comes in. While Brock was playing. Nine targets in five games that included zero targets against Houston, which is absolutely insane. Then at four targets in the last game versus the colts. So you look at that total for this season. He's had so far eight thirteen nineteen twenty four twenty six twenty nine thirty thirty thirty three thirty three targets receptions. He said six nine twelve fourteen fifteen sixteen seventeen nineteen that's just another guy. And yes, and I did tweet earlier through next gen stats that the league average of separation average separation which is how much separation a wide receiver retired in his getting from the nearest defender at time of the coloring police in the league averages two point eight one yards against the colts. Kenny stills at an average separation of four point one three yards. It is not Kenny stills. He is not the problem. It is a quarterback problem. It is in offense of line problem. It is a coaching problem, and hopefully will figure all that out as we continue on over the next few weeks so many dolphins need to figure out very soon. If they want to make a realistic shot for the playoffs, which they need to win out. And even then they need some help is getting their offense back on track. And it'll be our last segment of the show tonight. Dolphins against the bills bills. Have a great defense drama turbot a defensive minded coach they played tough. They play hard nose at a lot of the recent meetings with the Miami Dolphins and the Buffalo Bills have been decided by one score or less to be exact they've alternated season sweeps in each of the past three seasons. The bills at the dolphins in twenty fifteen and twenty seventeen minutes..

"And when you looked at some of the before that he's running good routes. Kenny stills hasn't changed on that front. So with that being interdependent football, though, it gets really hard to figure out where blame wise sometimes. So it could be one play or might be the quarterback. Just makes a terrible reap. The second play might be. You know, Ted Larsen gets freakin dominated antenna hill has to roll to the other side of the field and making Kinney's route obsolete, and then you know, it's third and twelve and gays just gonna run it and punt. So all of a sudden, he just see one drive disappear like that. And when you kind of multiply that time and time again, then all of a sudden you're going couple of games without seeing much from from Kenny stills, so it's disappointing because his one of the few playmakers. We have left is one of the best deep ball targets that we have. We just seem so focused on this within the ten yard line of scrimmage. West coast stuff that we're not pushing the ball vertically, and it makes KENNY'S job a lot harder because worsening him down the field and psych we're not even looking down there. So I can totally understand why he'd be really frustrated. Yeah. And I would argue that Kenny stills is probably the most talented receiver on the roster. I mean, you paid him to be that kind of playmaker Cherie takes top of defenses. But you gotta find a way to give the football in twenty catches for three hundred thirty two yards four touchdowns. I mean, it's just not enough. And I think when y'all struggles you can put the blame on Kenyan Drake again touches or or Ryan will make mistakes, but Kenny stills need needs to get some targets. And we saw last week. I forget who throughout the all twenty two Wingfield. And you kinda see ten hills knock on through progressions. And he's missing those wide open receivers Kenny stills. I mean, I do think he meant what he said. I don't think he realized how quickly things go south after he did. But I mean, you can't argue that the guy has been open and they need to find ways. Again, the football. He said, you know, he can't throw the football himself. He can't do it all but I touched on last week. You see these? Fabricated touches for. Devante Parker in the screen game. Or the way they handled keen grant. And our Wilson. Sure, they were speedsters. But I mean if you look at their forties. I don't know that that that much faster than can still. So why is he not getting some of those touches in the backfield? You know, those those jet sweeps why are they not just trying to find ways to give the ball to Kenny stills?.

He's not of the league now. Oh, yeah. But in Philly, okay? Four years with Miami three interceptions in three is Phillies. Maybe we could say he was about the same. Okay. We'll go to I think he had one good year. And then kind of. Yeah. Also, the I know no. Charles clay. No, no regard Matthews. I'd say he's even I think we didn't use them. Right. That was. Yeah. I agree with that. I thought he was productive player when he was with us too many opportunities. Eric shelby. No, no way down Dion SIMS. No, no, they got Burton. For one year that I want to say he intercepted us when we played them couple years ago, of course, though, first and last one Damian Williams, no his even play for Kansas City. And didn't you have three carries a share something? I forget Harry yard eighteen yards. That is such a shame. If he didn't hurt Drake would never had a chance Phillips, Jordan Phillips. You don't know what the hell you're talking about, bro. Get out of here. Say in buffalo. Go away. You might have good game on Sunday. But you're careering taken often. Sorry, bro. Well, yeah, he's going to beat up on Ted Larsen. So he and Pat himself on the banner that you will have a good game on Sunday. Someone who has not been having many good games lately is Kenny stills and he actually had a damning quote on Thursday afternoon in a locker room being interviewed by the media. He. Said I couldn't tell you exactly what I'm not getting more targets. I can't tell you. I'm getting open y'all said there are other guys open on plays. That aren't getting hits y'all said I can't throw the ball to myself iterative, our model saw Garo and other reporters that he was open game changing plays as well. However few hours later, he walked into the media workroom and said that his earlier comments about not being able to throw himself. The ball is not being taken the way he meant. He said I'm focusing on my job and doing what he can do says it wasn't aimed at his quarterbacks. I like Kenney still he's a great guy. Do think this is a case of the cat guy out of the bag or do you really think that he mis represented himself when he said this and just came out the wrong way, son? Great question. And I'm not sure because I don't live in Kenny stills mine, but what I'll say is. I don't think Kenny is afraid to make a statement if he wants to. Okay. So let's put that out there. So I think had he really bought into it. I think he just would've left his initial comments. As is. However, I can't rule out. The fact that dolphins PR went in and said like, hey, this probably is going to cause more of a stir than maybe you wanted to go out and clarify with them. And of course, he immediately as soon as tweeted. Oh, it was amazing. So let's just take what he said at face value that what he meant was just kind of a more of a general ailment general Malays going on with the offense. And frankly, he'd be right and one of the difficult things about professional football. So many players playing on the same team. It's you know, it's entered dependent. So you depend on other people to do your job and KENNY'S clearly doing his job. You put out a tweet earlier that that colts gave me had forty yards of separation. So yeah, he's running good routes..

Americans are split on NFL National Anthem protests
"The NFL and Colin Kaepernick and the American left continue these stupidest possible protests in American politics, and in may of this year, the NFL came out, and they said, no more kneeling, no more kneeling. You can't Neil. It's creating too much distraction the NFL ratings had been tanking. They were down eight percent in two thousand sixteen when this all started. They fell ten percent last year analysts are predicting that they'll fall even more this year. So they say, okay, we've got to stop doing this and make no more kneeling, but then the politically correct crowd the left came out and said, how dare you to we're going to do. And what are you? How are you gonna police this, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. So then in July right after they announced the policy in July. They come out and say, well, maybe there can be kneeling said what they said. Well, maybe we won't enforce the policy. We don't know how we're going to enforce the policy. So what you get is more and more confusion over the weekend. We saw this come to fruition. There were two people in the NFL who kneeled for the national anthem now. That's that's not so bad or twenty sixteen thirteen games. I think over the weekend. These two guys Miami Dolphins Kenny stills and Albert Wilson. But what that really means? Even though it's just two guys. This is going to keep going on. It's gonna keep going on and on and on the right, obviously bashing this. This is a very bad thing. They're protesting the American flag symbol of our country and the left is embracing this. So the part of me that is like earnestly taking in this information says this is a horrific thing to do the political cynical side that little that little devil voice up. There says this is terrific news for conservatives because we've somehow gotten the left and the Democrats to protest the American flag itself. I wonder if this whole protest wasn't just started by some slick Republican operative. We have right now elected Democrats applauding the flag. Protests Ianna Presley running for congress in Massachusetts is applauding. This. A beta Aurore can Texas pronounce that wrong with that beta beta Rourke in Texas. This is applauding this. It would the only thing that we could do that might be more effective is to get Democrats to protest apple pie. That's gonna be the next say, you know, for social Justice, you really ought to protest apple pie eight apple pie apple buys, the worst polls show that the Americans hate this

"Back becomes available, but for a Randall Cobb or Kenny stills sh ten to fifteen percent? Yeah, this is most I'd be willing to this is where philosophically you have to ask yourself, how do you spend your budget? And I just don't spend a large portion of my budget on wide receivers. I look, you'd rather get the best value on a shot. Somebody's guys, there's value. I'd rather spend a dollar or two and grab Quincy noon. Law charged that I can play weaken, weak out, play match ups. You can pretty much always always grab a wide receiver off of waivers and start him even in our fourteen team listener league. I grabbed Ted Ginn this last week at through him in my lineup, he haw. And he was free. So I'm not going to spend up even on a random macabre, Kenny stills. I'll put a bid on on them for sure, right. Hob. I'll go five dollars probably won't get them, but I would much rather have my money for the running back position where you cannot just pick someone up weekend. Getting underway juries I want to talk about some of these main pickups, these guys that are owned in fewer leagues, and let's start with Chris Godwin wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Evans Silva tweeted out. "New policy back in may. And basically you either stand or don't come out on the field for the anthem players union pushed back they said. All right. Let's not do anything this season. We have to have more talks. But the talks with the players union aren't even scheduled to start. I think until next year. Right. So obviously it may be the twenty nine thousand nine season. And I know you're gonna talk more about this with Ryan burrow at eight. But the the thing that I question too is I wonder if the fact that you had a couple of players who kneeled yesterday on the dolphins you had one of the chargers players raised their fist you had. I think maybe one other person maybe. But there were so few players who did anything I wonder if that to play part in this decision like, well, okay. Maybe it's not much to do about nothing anymore. Maybe. But you know, you also have the second lane. The league the league definitely wants to prevent this season from being overly focused on this controversy, then you have each individual team which could try to set their own rules. In fact, doll for you. Remember the dolphins their their code of conduct leaked out. Yeah. And they had some very harsh rules about standing during the anthem with suspensions. They've now backed off of it because the league has backed off of it because I don't think any one team wants to be the only team punishing players. Although I think Jerry Jones would jump in. Yeah. Cowboys if anybody was going to do it. I think he would be the guy to lead the charge. He's also savvy enough to to handle this semi off the record. I mean, he's spoken publicly. Right. But in terms of say putting things in writing or whatever I feel like he's the kind of guy where he just comes to locker room and has a little talk. You realize? Is that if you want to continue to be a Dallas cowboy you're going to stand for that? And he's like the godfather of the cowboy. Yeah. So let's take a quick tally of who stood. Didn't stand kneeled fists in the air. Yeah. So we had two guys we had two players from Kenny stills and Albert Watson from the dolphins. And then our chargers player was Russell Okon who raised his fist Broncos receiver. Thomas and linebacker, Brandon Marshall's Seahawks linemen, Dwayne Brown and Quinton Jefferson retreated to their tunnels. They just didn't come out right or I guess they probably been on the field practicing. And then just went back in the waited till the anthem was over. And then they came last season. Wasn't it the Seahawks that had the most players? I think so you right now this so so far it's it seems to be the dolphins. Maybe. Yeah. Who've made that we're talking to or two or three max per team. And most teams didn't have anybody. Anything? Yeah. All right. So I'm I'm going with the freakish talented he exhibited time and time again at the college level, the very small sample size. We saw in week number one, and the fact that the giants got way better across the offense of line way better through coaching staff. I think he's got freakish upside a little bit like Zeke Elliott did a couple of years ago when when he came out as a rookie, especially, you know, half point or point p r I, I, I tend to agree with you on that side and unfortunately now I can't make fun of my league when they take them to overall because the secret's out. Yeah so we're talking with Paul here in there's a there's a. Bunch of other things that. I think are just a normal draft routine routines as you go along do you have any favorite kind of draft routines, right before you're about to do it whether it's a a million mock drafts are like how do you prepare for the draft. Nothing better than mock draft because you get such a good sense of what's going to. Happen and I don't know if you guys are familiar with best ball love love it. Yeah so we offer at fan ball and the idea is if you love to drop the season, maintenance you draft eighteen and. Then no transactions no trades nothing, the system automatically sets your best possible lineup every single week and you just watch the results come in. And so I love doing I love doing drafts and nothing will get you better set to understand what you're how your draft is going to, work, then that, Paul gives us a couple later round, players, that you think people should target the starting running back from Tampa Bay it's going to be Peyton barber is going to not only your number one he is Is going to be there pass catching back as well because Charles SIMS woman on I r and, he is being grossly under drafted and that's a? Big mistake and you know everybody's everybody, thinks that the second round rookie Ronald Jones is, will already assumed going into the season? Have nobody else to throw to take Parker's done they just turned their tight ends out it's he's number. One received from a team. Is going to be trailing badly in a lot of games so I think he's a very fun guy to go with, an give you another buccaneer Chris Godwin is going to be the starting receiver opposite Mike Evans and they're talking about they love. Has been buzzing, around, the fantasy community just because of in terms of value Nelson galore as well as really really good thoughts and especially for best. Ball with Corey Clement what do. You make those two guys in their fantasy value going into the weekend we didn't get Cory Clements so cheap right and know JJ I got I've got some worry on because Philadelphia. And Miami for that matter. Never used them the way we, thought they would, use him he got zero carries inside the five last year. From either team the dolphins or the. Eagles now legare. About a thousand roughly a thousand players nine hundred maybe, there, were out on on the field, last night and.
