Everybody's looking at josh allen who turned around his third year a consensus with daniel jones is or the giants fans wanted to be patient with him and i think the he can become guy or what the veiling sentiment. Oh i think the consensus is that this is new york and there's no consensus at all but now in all honesty the deal with with daniel jones is. There's a lot of talk. You mentioned josh allen. There's a lot of talk about about the josh allen. Esq year three leap baker mayfield took a big leap as well. And the one thing that i can say is that it. From an organizational standpoint. The giants are not confused. The giants are all in on daniel jones. Dave gettleman is still the gm who drafted him. Joe judge as head coach. Y- wasn't wasn't with the giants when jones was drafted but judge has been all in in supportive jones The giants went all out this off. Season bringing in kenny golladay You know bringing in kyle. Rudolph bringing in devante booker as a backup running back for saquon. Barkley They went drafting. Could area's tony. They went all in to to try to put weapons around him. You know that that can show once and for all whether or not. He's the guy. The general feeling i think is because this is also dave settlements fourth year as general manager and i think they in the giants had losing records each year. You know of gentleman's tenure and there's some impatience even from ownership there some impatience. John mara said you know he's tired of losing. It's time to win some games. It's time for us. We feel like we're making progress. But it needs to show up on the field and there is a feeling that there will be some changes. Maybe at the general manager spot maybe at offensive coordinator may be at quarterback depending on how this season goes so this could be a make or break season for daniel. Jones could be a if he shows you enough then he gets to be the guy for the rest of his rookie contract. If he has another ten or eleven touchdown pass season like he did last year. You maybe the giants are convinced that they go in another direction. They do have two first round picks in the in the twenty twenty two draft. So they could if they had to. They could package those to move up and get a guy and start over. I don't think they want to. That's not the direction they want to go in. Obviously but this is a huge year for daniel jones huge year for the giants in general just to figure out the direction of the franchise long term which is interesting.

Catch percentage in the nfl between twenty seventeen in last year. And you could tell the lions miss that a lot of the games that he was out. But i think this is good. I mean it's something and someone that's finally gonna reward daniel jones for his best attribute which is toughness its ability to hang in the pocket take hits and risk these kind of throws and having golladay on the other end of that. "Like only player. I've ever owned an nfl jersey for not even tom brady. Did i own. Nfl jersey for tom brady so i love to but i can it man. It was it was hard to watch. Justin herbert look amazing and watch. Joe burrow dropped dime after dime oliver the field than watch to struggle with the ball. And you're like to like oh no. This is not good. However i'm not ready to bail on to adjust yet. I'm a fan. I understand that but paid. Manning had really bad rookie year as well. I don't know that you can say one year. Emmys terrible. I look to has done in the past. Look at weird off season with very little preparation. A guy who was coming off an injury and to us not like just justin. Her is a guy who is really really physically talented. You can get away with not having a perfect read or making a play. You know out of rhythm because he's really naturally gifted to a quite frankly is not the same natural talent. Justin herbert is to a needs to be in rhythm needs to have a great system around him. He's a kind of the classic system quarterback needs help. Doesn't mean you can't be amazing. Drew brees was a system quarterback a guy named brett coleman guy love but if it will kind of breaking that down and so i think miami can use at number six overall pick to draft a playmaker a guy who they can use to build around to and you get a guy like tile pits or jomar chase or some big name stud player to build around to help look to make better i i love that and i know a lot of people doubt to refer to peyton manning peyton manning had a really bad rookie year. Came back bounce back. He's a hall of famer. He's amazing so one bad year. I'm pretty patient with quarterbacks. Okay one year. It's really not enough to fully evaluate the guy especially like daniel jones for example. I don't believe daniel jones is going to work in new york. But i wanna see daniel. Jones play a year with donna help and a lot of support around him and if he's still can't make it work then we can completely bail just because i don't believe in daniel jones doesn't mean i'm going to bail on.

"So likely. The jets are going after justin fields or trey lance state quarterback trae lance or ohio state quarterback justin fields. They're both very mobile. They're both very raw. Both quarterbacks could use some time sitting on the bench to learn and get the swing of the nfl before they become a starting quarterback. "I think the jets are gonna be kicking themselves after season because to me. None of these guys are really the real deal. They're all okay receivers basically at this point. They're trying to fill the void. Saying i checked off the receiving will but they didn't check it off because they don't have a number one receiver. Sure they have all these guys that will contribute. But they don't have one guy. That was what i was looking for the jets to do this offseason and they weren't able to get on. He has good games with the jets last year. When he was in you know he had good gains for tampa bay when he got Targets for them so. I guess when you know we're we're talking about this tier of casper. I want the guy that has a high ceiling because he's basically that sit on my bitch. Anyway it has a. I think i'm probably the best impairment of those four contracts because he is gonna be able to winds in the they definitely don't have anybody anybody that is number one receiver. That offense right now So you could see him if he stays on the field and healthy prii one hundred twenty one hundred forty target somewhere in there now at the detroit winds defense as bad as i think it is. Newton cam yet mazing earth year and then he basically at one other years tired career but he always put a fancy numbers kind of who i thought john was the guy that everybody white the fancy but it wasn't very good football. So terrific is kinda guy. It'd be eighty five percent of josh allen. If josh allen were to get hurt and maybe he can learn some things that for coaching staff. Because they obviously know what they're doing over there. That is the one upside to gong to team like the bills. You've seen them develop josh allen and that's very impressive for a team like the bills to do because coming into draft teams were all. Everyone was saying. "All the field as tight end So you can't give up on england but he had a drop last year. And i'm not sure that there's really big between injuries piling up. I'm not sure how many how much more upside is left in him. He's maybe the most disappointing Hide in prospect. I've ever seen after coming out is a historic rookie year. He hasn't done anything. He's been disappointing. What i'm trying to say about cow rudolph is so i. I definitely respect the point that he's a great blocking tight end. I'm not gonna go ahead in disagree with that. But with the way. The league shifting the league's of valuing receivers that can make plays almost as a receiver now. And if you're a tight end and you're you can receive. That's all good. And i mean the team always can put in a blocking tight end for certain certain downs and stuff and so you end also. If you're receiving good receiving tight end you can also kind of learned by by doing almost Get eventually better at blocking so i would say that it's for titans nowadays. It's more important that they have good pass catching skills kinda like cow pits. Which is why everyone so high. On kyle pits and that blocking kinda Dairy issue with the tight ends in importance end. So last season kyle rudolph had twenty catches for three hundred thirty four yards and one touchdown so for me. That's not really getting it done to. Where as he paid us like a top eight ten tight end can't i. I can't listen to the fact that i still think that the The primary primary physician overti- date is is blocking. You know if not the one that you just put up receiver on the field you know. "Point six million dollars contract by. I think after the first two years foible so for the team so i guess that's why this they're gung ahead in calling it a two year. Fourteen point six million dollars contract because they don't have to really engage in that third year if they don't want to but i'm not one hundred percent sure i think that's how goes i'm not contract opera. It's a little bit overpriced if he gets hurt and he's not producing pre or two but it's not bad for just pay for short term. It's it's not like aaron jones. What are your thoughts. Yeah you know this is definitely the biggest contract. We've seen the the all seasons you know so. Gallaudet gives them a a nice goto. I i definitely see targets going towards his way. I do my concerns the galaxy though like long term you know he's been injured quite a bit. He doesn't command targets in detroit. Offense that really only had. Marvin jones is the only other pass catcher in it. So i'm really kind of concerned If he does have the touchdown that he had a couple of years ago. I wonder if they were that money they do have. Tgi hopkinson aweso. But i think they definitely have one of the worst receiving corpse in the nfl especially now after the gallon day departure and so you make good points. It's we're a little bit iffy on god. We've seen some impressive things from him. We've seen that. He can be a number one receiver for team like the lions but we also don't know if the reason he was so successful was because there weren't a ton of other guys when detroit demanding targets and it just happened to be a good situation for kenny golladay. But i think there's one thing we can agree on. We both probably like kenny golladay. I would say he's probably atop Twenty to twenty five or sierra by both you and i are going to say that this four year two million dollars contract was way too much because alan robinson he's getting paid eighteen million dollars next year because of the franchise tag and that puts him in the upper salon for the receivers and he of course accepted that. I'm not thinking that this is a bad thing for kenny golladay fancier dynasty. If i if. I have totally go with it if i if i if i'm looking to acquire want in some shares of all my team or i like the guy go for it man. I have no issue with his landing. Spot would honestly is bothered me more about this and it's something that i feel like i have to just keep address it because it bothers me that overall and it's not everybody it's not certain people but people have to be careful with their with their reactions to sign ins right Because when it comes to fantasy perspective not nfl perspective. We were expecting darius slayton to steal all the targets and now kenny golladay. Isn't it come in there and take all the targets. This not how this works is not what the team is planned to do. It was never in. The plans is not how football works as a highly. Nfl works how fantasy works. Oh Josh jacobs doesn't get enough passing targets. So he's not a good running back up. "Newton's signing with the patriots all the patriots moves This free agency and ryan. It's magic to the washington football team. That was my second segment after. I covered andy dalton going to the chicago bears in my first segment. Now i'm gonna get into the rest of free agency because look a warned you guys. It was the free agent frenzy this week. Those are the big storylines but look there were a lot of other signings. A lot of other deals made and it was a busy week for all. Nfl insiders. i add my chapter twitter. Fixations on it seemed like about three times. An hour was getting a new player. Different team new signing new releasing. So all of that. I'm gonna get into all those big names big name acquisitions and big-name movement So what else is happening. Around the league first off wide receivers are still available and they are not coming off the board as quickly as other positions are so. I'm gonna get into all of that. The buccaneers have a big free agency. Week or two weeks now. Just signing and reciting players. It looks like they are bringing back all the employers from their super bowl run including shaquille barrett. Tom brady restructured deal move. He made a new england a lot to help team in the present so he restructured his deal to help recap space rob gronkowski's coming back Linebacker levante david's coming back and guard. Aaron skinny they will all be back to shore up that offensive line almost lead into some other big news around the league and what teams paid ryan bax which should be frowned upon them to into my reasons for why you should not pay running backs in twenty twenty one so first off the wide receiver market. Who's off the board so early in the week While players started to go bigger named wide receivers remain on the board and there was a plethora of them available and they were just not going sometimes. This happens it. It's different every year but there were multiple wideouts sign recently in the recent days after the surge of free agency. But there's still big names out there. So kenny golladay. He is expected to sign with the giants. But that is not been made official yet. I'm it'll likely be made official sometime this weekend. But i will say he also visited the bears so i don't want to rule that out because the bears could still be looking for a cheaper option at wide receiver one. So nothing's official yet. I wanted to make that clear visit. The bears visit with the giants right after and he's really extremely productive. True number one wide receiver for a really good price right now and what. Kenny golladay does great. Is i think he's overall his catch. Radius is separates himself from other receivers in the league I saw matt stafford just throwing it up to him throughout his time in. Detroit and kenny. Golladay the guy that goes up and makes plays he makes contested catches. He had sure hands bit true. Big playability and that we you need out of your wide receiver. One so the jets. The jets also added some pass catchers They added corey davis from the titans. And keelan cole from jacksonville to sawed wide receiver options davis is extremely productive. Talented He was the number two receiver in tennessee last year next to. Aj brown titans now have lost two of their most important pass catcher so inches. The it's going to be interesting to see how they move forward with that to have. Aj brown who's studied number one but they lost corey davis and lost new smith to the patriots. So we'll see what they do about that. The jets also signed keelan cole. I wanted to say corey. Davis had almost a thousand yards last year. Five touchdowns big playmaker was a solid fantasy football option. But i'll leave that to our. Gmc fantasy football podcast but as far as the jets go. They needed to upgrade either for darnold or for a future quarterback they needed upgrading. Sco position wide receivers at some points last year. They had braxton berrios goto option. Jamison crowder is a veteran receiver still productive. But i mean he can't be your number one guy going into next year and whether they bring back donald or go with a quarterback in the draft with their early draft selection they needed pass catchers and they need weapons for whoever that may be. So curtis samuel. I mentioned this earlier. he's from the panthers. He went to the football team. That makes that receiving core really lethal. You have curtis samuel turmoil in who's been as productive as they call him since he joined league two years ago and logan thomas who emerged as a bright spot on the former. Hokey shout to my virginia tech hokies. But he really was a bright spot and the former quarterback. He's he's huge. He's catching everything. He's an athlete. And i think he's. He's going to be a key red zone target for the football team next year. Another intriguing signing To me was. Aj green to the cardinals look so age. Agreed has not been the same. He's not the same age agreeing that he once was. But it's an intriguing move and he didn't perform well last year. But i think he was tired of being in cincinnati. I think he let that be known to everyone that he did not want to be in cincinnati and especially after joe burrow got hurt there was really no incentive for him to be kind of playing hardest and you saw his snaps go down but he's still aj green and although he's dealt with a lot of soft tissue injuries He had two touchdowns five hundred yards last year. And you're pairing him. With kyle. Murray now who Was an mvp candidate for much of last season. And he's a true playmaker. And when you have the.

"Free agency you need to bring some hope to bears fans because suffering through another season of media mediocre quarterback play would be just devastating and the bears have also had room have been rumored to have discussions with lions wide receiver. Kenny golladay who i like and released pile for and akiem hicks so the kenny golladay news. That's a huge impact on allen robinson. Maybe they both they both. They want to acquire both. But i've seen more reports lately. That god is expected to sign with the giants. All it would be a cheaper wide receiver. One than allen rod allen robinson is definitely a more talented player and then it also came out that al robinson accepted his franchise tag so that could mean that he is staying. He's accepting this One year deal before he can hit the market next year. Or that's just the first part for the bears to end up trading him. So i'm not sure how that's happening all this news coming in and so confusing and i just don't know where the bears are going right now but the fuller hicks news is completely shocking. And i don't really know what it means for the bears. Other than saving money fuller only had one interception last year. But he's an all pro corner and akiem hicks is one of the best players on that d. line and now they have two huge holes on that defense which was the pride in not really many improvements on offense so right. Now it's where are you going ryan pace. What is the overall direction of this team so to kind of wrap it up bears fans i feel i know. I know you're upset I'm a bears fan to elect like to reiterate that this is still going to be a volatile and fast moving free agency period they say dullness star now but things can always change in the nfl. there's always cliche talk like that and i wouldn't trust that narrative just yet for all we know they could trade up in the draft like i've said russell wilson good start to increasing demand trade and then seattle's hands could be tied shawn watson could still be removed or they can sign a guy like marcus. Mariota or gardner minshew putu on a cheap deal to come compete with dalton and kind of get the best out of the quarterback position there so my guess right now as to what the bears do is i think they target a high end draft prospect. And i think that guy is trey lands because if you Kept up with approach as ryan pace and nagy both their their scouting. The quarterback position really do do diligently and matt nagy. I think wants to have his say as quarterback they pick. You wants to have Young young quarterback that he likes that he can develop in that can kind of learn his offense as they go along but overall the bears are starting to have a lot of holes on this team and at the moment they don't have the resources to fill it so it's gonna be interesting to see how they maneuver the salary cap situation how they maneuver to loss of these defensive players and overall just how they fill these needs on their team before the season starts ryan pace is on the last year of his contract this year so if this is really the direction that the team is going into the season i just can't see him or matt nagy coming back after twenty twenty one which when you if you want to take different perspectives here. That could be a positive for bears fans because you could say this antidote and sign is just further fighting the Evidence the evidence and or the eventual. And that is that ryan pace and matt. You're going to be fired. So if you really don't like ryan pace and matt nagy then you could kind of spin this in a way that any don't signing means just one day closer to The inevitable which is ryan pace in matt nagy to be fired. Free Agency 2021: Biggest Winners and Losers From Day One
"Who's the biggest winner from day. One the biggest winner from day one already told you it was. It was a my intro. You're listening great question. Jonnu smith out. It's cam newton. Well that depends kenyans a starter for sixteen games. That's right that's true. It's yeah okay. Potentially find jonah smith. Donald smith big contract with the patriots They invest heavily in him. You like this for him i do. I think you know Obviously the quarterback is the concern. But this is the scenario especially with the move that they made that we look for in fantasy as tight end could be the leader of the pack in terms of targets and opportunities and so look cam was not good in twenty twenty. If cam does start sixteen games in two thousand twenty. One greg olsen. During a five year stretch was pretty awesome of the top tier tight ends of the guys that we did. We talk about what he was in the next group you know. And so from twenty two thousand twenty sixteen. Greg olsen averaged a hundred eighteen targets a season seventy seven catches Decide one thousand yards and five times. Johnny could do that. One season estimate put them right around a top five tight end. Greg olsen was great and not only was he great but we also saw from cam newton in that stretch that he could give you greg olsen. Who could finish as a top eight tight in five straight seasons and give you a number to wide receiver in four of those five seasons three or four of those five seasons whether it was. Steve smith or kelvin. Benjamin and even ted ginn one year. So that's interesting. I'll afforded talking about that on the show tomorrow on the tuesday morning show and then of course we'll have a whole bunch of more news items to react to. So we'll see what they do in in in that in that regard but i think Tannehill you know. I had him as the number eleven quarterback. I dropped in the thirteen after today. Just because i think it was close between in my mind. Joe burrow and tom brady put them behind both those guys. Okay how 'bout jameis winston ryan tannehill right now. It's soom jameis winston as the starter. I still go. i think it'd be messy. You know. I can't situation we're taking those not blaming So i was hoping james would go someplace else and tastes hill. Would still be the guy with maybe a rookie or somebody. Young that they could groom continued. Just gonna to get you know too much of the mill package of james as the starter and if as milton starter. Davis is gonna play very much so it just feels like it be messy situation oil. Who do you like better. Corey davis with the jets nelson agholor with the patriots. I think adler is going to be bad. I don't trust the situation. You know i mean he. He had so many big. Plays for the raiders last year and he was so good for derek carr but he did that on eighty two targets. I don't think he gets eighty two targets with the patriots. He's going to do the same thing. So with what cam does running the ball with what jonah smith brings to the table with. What the rest of the receiving corps will look like if julian edelman on the team if he's healthy Nagla is going to be A guy that's not on many fantasy rosters middle of the season whereas corey davis could be the best receiver for the jets. I don't know if that's going to be the case. But i would take davis by far over niagara.

It's hard to acquire them. You know in that gray area sometimes because the person who has them on tv now was rosser. There was gonna see go so right now trying to acquire them. It's not really worth it for you if you're super super interested in them and you just want to wait so where they land that you can go after them on. It's hard to pursue them right now that that's my opinion but a big trade offer. It never hurt so go train offer if you like them So those are the The franchise tag players. I felt were important. Obviously players like dak and stuff avoided this whole thing. Which again like. I talked about last episode cowboy fans. Happy you avoid this whole franchise tag matter For dak prescott just pushed the player in a right to me. It puts players at ease at comfort. And again there there are some fantasy analysts and experts out there who you i don't care about. You know this kind of stuff. I don't i don't think about whether the guys franchise tag. What contract looks like whether i care. He's happier nodar or confident or not insecure or not. I do care about variables when it comes to fantasy. I definitely put it in. Play when i'm doing my rankings and when i'm thinking about draft certain players i definitely considers a fight this and dak being on a brand new contracting again paid to me. That's a major win for cowboy fans and fantasy dynasty fans who have dak on their team or looking to acquire him That puts me all in undocked for sure The other news. And i wanted to hit on really quickly Says the franchise tag. You know news dominated. The airwaves was The raiders you guys know big raider fan they trade they. They've been cutting guys left and right lamarcus. Joyner got cut Gabe jackson got cut a few other guys. Cut something notable today trent brown. The you know pro bowl top you know. Left tackle offensive tackle in the entire. Nfl when the top guys on they traded him back to the patriots this interesting he was unhappy clearly The raiders were unhappy clearly because he's barely played so even while the raiders had like this dominant offense align at times. Trent brown was even playing for them. Sometimes you know last year. I feel like he barely played due to injuries and everything else. So the raiders weren't appreciate the effort. They felt like he could push through some of that probably. They felt like he was out of shape. You know Might may i came out and said that that when he's in shape and healthy is one of the best hackles ofo ball when he's not he's no good for you so My assumption is my guess of. I had to predict out. Trent brown will be entirely healthy next year. Because he's a patriot now and so he will not do injury concerns. He won't have all these issues because he's happy because he thinks he's on a winning team. No surprise surprise. Trent brown the patriots wearing good last year. The patriots. don't even have a quarterback sir. They don't if he can't come back. That's great but bro. You don't even know your protection. I'm curious what they do If it's a wide receiver they go after if it's offensive line hope for the cheaper If it's defensive help infrequency because obviously we all know their defense horrible We'll see how it plays out. "Today was tagged a in the National Football League. We found out stars that we're getting the franchise tag, which may preclude them from Changing teams, and we found out some players that didn't get the franchise tag. Wide receivers were the order of the day and Alan Robinson gets the franchise tag. Chris Godwin gets the franchise tag will have more on Godwin and Brady coming up in a few minutes because this is a really big deal. But now who do you go after right? Who's the number one wide receiver you go after, and The guy who was going to be the beneficiary of this. And look, we've talked about who the three best wide receivers were gonna be in free agency this year, right? You and I did this about a month ago, and it was Robinson and it was Godwin and it was Kenny Golladay. You got it? And I know that that some people are going to be a little nervous. About Golladay. Oh, he was hurt. Last year, he was on pace for his best year in 2020 until he got hurt. I am so in on Kenny Golladay. Getting hurt last year doesn't concern me. You know anytime, you miss games, whether it's zits calf or it's a hamstring. It's not that big a deal right? And it's not something where wait. There's a big injury and maybe they're not going to be as fast as they once were. It's not that big a deal. I go after Kenny Golladay because he is everything. That a team's gonna want in a wide receiver. He can be the big target in the red zone. He's someone is going to stretch the defense. He is terrific. Listen. Matthew Stafford has been blessed with good wide receivers and great wide receivers his time in Detroit before he got traded to Los Angeles and Kenny Golladay. Is that good? I mean, he's going to get paid and He's the big winner today with the other guy's getting franchised and Kenny Golladay is going to get a lot of money and rightfully so, because he is extremely talented. I love the kid. Congratulations to him. Not only will he get out of Detroit and whatever the next phase of their world is, but he's going to get a mountain of cash to do it.

Potentially as well Is going to be fun to see where he ends up because he could really change the dynamic of a fantasy passing attack hopefully for the better and we'll be funding teams. The patriots washington interesting interesting destinations. I'm not sure if there's one that stands out is the one that we would absolutely positively love him to have. I used to get upset, but not anymore. I get second teams. I got my second team. I grew up watching Alabama. I like Alabama. That being said they got better, so I'm excited about the national championship. Why? Because Alabama is there. I won't miss. Do I want Michigan to be in there? Sure, I would. But like you said. Could a Stafford Pick Help Bring the Patriots a Super Bowl Victory?
"You mentioned Stafford a little bit know. I know you said on Twitter that you are no on Stafford because of the compensation that they would have to trade to Detroit. I think he's going to for a phone Pig So I think you know, how do you feel about it from just a cat perspective that perspective if you think he's the guy right kept expecting he's he led to get he's got low Captain the next two years you could do the whole those drafted quarterback this year next year and you can bring and he could be dead quarterback even with a highlight with a high relatively High cap number for the Patriots for the quarterback position. Is he worth that kind of at his deal is he I think he is. I I just don't think that the Patriots are going to be the one who comes out the highest offer, right? That's I think the biggest problem too is because they because they played their way into the number 15 overall pick. It's a good first round pick but it's not a high-end first-round pick any more and they're probably going to end up having to package multiple pics in the deal. Matthew Stafford, which is alive, but I think the only reason why I brought it up is because with Belichick he doesn't want to lose anymore. He's sixty-eight years old. If you can get a guy like Stafford office create another Superbowl window pretentious, right? Yeah.
