"Chief of Frisco, Texas. His officers made a mistake when they held an Arkansas family at gunpoint during a traffic stop. Police stopped the car last Sunday on the north or on the Dallas North Tollway, and one of the officers inadvertently entered the Arkansas license plate as coming from Arizona. It's reminder a that when you've got leaders that age, look, health incidents can happen to anybody. when But you're 77, as Trump is, you're 81, as Biden is, the possibilities go way up. But and Americans are not happy with the choice between two aging leaders. Is the Yahoo poll out. 67 % of Americans think Biden's too old to be president. That includes almost half a Democrat. 62 % say Trump's too old. So that McConnell incident is a dark reminder that when you're led by leaders that old, not his problems, but it's out of keeping with our history and our tradition. If you think about the four Democrats who were elected president before Biden, leaving aside Lyndon Johnson, although he was only 55 when president after Kennedy's death. We look at Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, Obama, their average age when they were elected president was 47 years old. So it was Biden running and it would be 82 on election You day. can see how far out of touch we are with our own history Steve, I know you have been looking at this for a while now. Do you have any more insight? this Is truly Americans concerned with the health of these men or is it more of a concern of we're really talking about a group of white men? Well, you know, there's a juxtaposition here that's out of sync because prefer Americans younger candidates. But at the same time, you look if at what's happening on the Republican side, Ron DeSantis has portrayed himself as the younger generation of conservatives. And there's a New York Times poll out this morning, Trump's at 54 % and DeSantis has sunk to 17%. So what's happened is that Biden and Trump have so dominated each of their parties that have made it very, very difficult for, they take up so much oxygen, very difficult for a younger generation to emerge. Let's remember with Biden, it's not that it was Biden himself, but the two leading candidates to challenge Biden. Bernie Sanders was even older than Joe Biden, and Elizabeth Warren was in her 70s. I think renee montgomery has has a position of leadership there in atlanta. But that doesn't mean that everyone's going to follow suit and comply. So when you have kennedy carter who has an electric. You know Energy with her of courtney williams like we've seen it and she's already been involved in a situation like that so an s not downing her or or kennedy situation happened. The organization has taken leadership in saying. You know we're holding you accountable to what we told you could not happen with while you're suspended so i think know we really have to be careful with you. Know players taking upon themselves to to stretch these lines of permissible actions especially with social media and everyone understanding that there was situation. Now all eyes are on your social media links there on your instagram. live there. All your you know twitter page there waiting for you to say something so how about you. That's that's the fear that's the fear of saying a that that's accountability when you are don't even can't even think of doing an activity that is going to be harmful to our group in our unit in an argument to our goal. Like right like that's why those things i think that's on saying like i think when when these things happen like this is not just like one isolated incident or one like these things. But that's how i feel about that. You know because then you don't wanna lose the integrity of the team and have people thinking what you spend it her. What about her like isn't that rule. Why is she still. You gotta be careful and you don't wanna lose the locker rooms like mike peterson. You don't wanna lose the locker room by not having integrity behi- what the rules of the team and league are by that that would be the most detrimental thing that can happen to him and the team is to lose the your voice in the locker as you're not standing true on all counts while it'll be really. I think it'll be really interesting. In atlanta going forward you know figuring out what their leadership Dynamic is and figuring out how they can kuala situation and hopefully like not have to trading bike. Tina thomsen are gonna serve as co coaches for the wbal. Thirteen that'll be fun. To to see that whole dynamic and just respect is what. I was talking about earlier. The whole thing is a failure of leadership. I'm not sure who the leader is. But someone has to take over and say look. I'm in charge and we're not doing that anymore. You got a problem with her. You go up to her in the locker room and you handle and if you guys fight break you up and then we'll make up like like like a family right. Sometimes you find break you make up. You're not going to sit there and go out and tell the world what's happening in our locker room. That's supposed to be sacred to us. I thought that was wrong. I thought obviously will kennedy. Whatever he did was also a big problem because she suspended indefinitely. So there's a failure of leadership here in. i think. I don't know i don't know if to me. I'm not trading kennedy carter. I'll treat everybody else on the team before trade committee carter to be honest because also when you look at their salary cap that would make sense because all most of these players are on Expiring deals so. I do wonder if there's gonna be somewhat of an exodus from atlanta for some of those veteran players Because if that situation's untenable have you ever had. Like for courtney williams to have lack of leadership of herself. Is that what you're talking about or are you talking about coaches You know gm's owners. Are you talking about. What kind of leadership are we are we talking about. Because we don't mean to say it again we don't. We don't know the specific. So i don't wanna like single out someone when these things happen though it is. It is a failure of leadership because leadership starts at the top starts at the owner in the ownership group so yeah renee montgomery on this chain of people that i think has has has failed but she's only been there for two months so it's like how much can we really put on someone here who's just getting used to do getting used to their position in the organization but then it trickles down. I'd put i put the blame on every single person down from ownership to the the the assistant coaches to the players. Everyone needs an account of brittany set. It's accountability accountability and leadership starts at the top. And then that trickles down to the rest of the team. And if there's any break in this chain between ownership jenner of front office coaches and players then it's gonna fall apart. I think that's on everyone at each level and when you have when you don't have a straight line and maybe that's the problem. Maybe there's too many players here who think they are the leader right because you do have a lot of great veteran players have been to really important stages and have led their teams in the past. Okay i e that that could be an issue where you have actually too many people trying to lead a team and then it falls apart because everyone has different styles. So i said these someone like you know you look at. Let's talk about the washington mystics as a counter example. Why should miss six totally instant now. It goes it goes from ted leonsis to To my tibo. Chew the players in the leader of that player group right despite tan charles alien. Ambience team is natasha clown unimpeachably. I think tasha clouds. The leader of the washington mystics. Everyone else has also leader in their own right but the person who is in that chain of people who's gonna take care of problems is the tasha clout so that's why that organization works because it goes straight out. If ted has a problem he goes to. Mike at mike has a problem. He goes to natasha. And they deal with it. I think on on atlanta. It seems like there isn't that system quite yet because of all of change has happened. And then when you have all that and all these big personalities stuff's going to boil over and hopefully you can get it back in the pot before before it gets too much and then you lose the season. I hear what you're saying. And while i do believe that the mystics are in linear position. Leadership wise no question about it. And i know that. Natasha cloud is the most vocal on the team. I believe that the leader for the mystics is dealt with. And that's just me seeing her. I mean obviously not this year last year but we were able to go to practices. I was there all the time when there were situations they were running things in practice like a minute left down to win. They're going through things. She was the one who was in the huddles with team and they were all to delegate on every single time and that's no shaded to cloud because she has animated she is the voice of the team. And you think about the misses. You think about her because of who she is. And i get that and there is some some truth of what she said. But i think when it's all said and done the ears are really in on what elena delle it on his sang on on a lot of things But that's just my opinion on what i've seen but going back to atlanta now me being coach. We have meetings at the beginning of every season. Here are the things that are not acceptable. Here are the things that are expected. Here are the things that social media presents and you cannot not fall into that. Here are the things that we would like for you to represent terms representing our program rang absolutely so in that regard. I'm not gonna tell renee. Montgomery this is all your fault. You know the several weeks ago a couple of weeks ago you know. There's no mention of minutes restriction for her but it just seemed like okay. They're trying to ease her in to the situation. They're trying to ease their head. And not you know overdo her minutes you know because cardio teague or whatever elbow may hurt or something like that that we were wondering where she was on friday so the fact that this kind of exploded all over social media last couple of days and you know might peterson. God bless a i mean. He was handed. This team is was it three days before the season started making calling a took the job at baylor. And you know two days later. The dream opened the season. Like here's the season so he spent. I think quite a struggle in that regard one and then to get a whole entirely new coaching staff. In there You know they have the kisha frat down there as one of their assistance and they have dana laforest man who is on the bench as well for the essence. Stick oats terrence. Mann's anyway for the clippers but anyway i But i think it's been quite a challenge. But i think what i like most if there's anything to like about this Situation and is that renee montgomery came out immediately and said accountability will always be at the top here in atlanta for our organization. And i think that was the best thing to say and who knows how long kennedy carter is going to be suspended for because it said until further notice so it wasn't like for one game or you know we're almost halfway. No offense to courtney no offense to tiffany hayes offensive elizabeth williams the future of the atlanta dream is kennedy carter so you need to get her on board to whatever you're doing. I think is extremely difficult to get anyone on board when the gm just got fired that drafted her the coach that brought her in just got just left for another job three weeks before season and now there's a new coach who has been there but it's not like he has the same sorta head coach relationship to another player and on top of all this. You've added all of that firepower to a group of players that when they all came together like this is a this is a locker room that we need to see like this the great and we saw some video of on their social media of courtney and tiffany hayes and can carter and our uh simpson all of them like hanging out and being franz but it also blow up because you have players. Have biggie goes the have. They're not afraid to speak their minds. And we're going gonna get any faces and look that works right like that's what that's what makes the miami heat the miami i know. But that's what makes miami heat the miami now. If you've ever been to my he practice you will see players getting right in each other's faces yelling you know. Get getting an almost physical altercations because they care that much and that can be a good thing channel channel and put it towards a positive way and i think they've missed the boat there in atlanta with this So maybe it's just a situation where you have all these big personalities and there's some losses piling up there some miss shots and there's people who want more shots who think they can do better for the team maybe it just pulls over and then it comes back and it's like you know when you when you're boiling something boils over. It'll come back down. And then we can sue out the process especially with this break coming up but if now know where they go from here that's the thing like what's it gonna look like. "Still think of them as you know when we earlier in the pod we talked about the sparks in phoenix and some teams that we were kinda worried about. We don't super trust right now. And i don't know if atlanta is going to be able to put it together. This season atlanta. We want you to be good. We this ah it would be awesome for atlanta. Considering the story that they've had as a organization over the last year or two. I want to dream if they could shoot toward the top of the league under this new ownership. Starting five in the league right now with candace parker does shields courtney vandersloot and then kellyanne copper playing strong as she has. That's a really strong starting four out of your top. Here's part of the reason why i moved them down host draft. They fired their gm last week. So intriguing kim. Their head coach got hired by baylor.
