"I so honestly answer this question there until the end. My friend lively boos rained down. Kenley jails believe you do not believe that you are not at present heading for the exits before the final normally. When i when i go to games i take a picture of the scoreboard on my way out. roof that we didn't do that knocking. I promise you i was there. I promise you. I was there who can win. It all fell apart. Who who will. Who will validate the fact that the till the end. The only person that can do it is one. I think one will be honest. I do there will be on if you have two years. After the dodgers the lead. I think you left. I don't think he stayed for the bottom of the ninth. Absolutely not of course. I stayed for the. I don't understand believing of the games early. That never came early. What are you talking about. And i start with this the because and i bought a dodger dog last night. Okay crap just crap. I can't stand the confirmation bias you already thought it was going to be crap before you bought it so instead. I got the carney assadi carney asada helmet nachos and a brisket sandwich which was fantastic with coleslaw. We'll set up the second aiming point where you're required to wear a mask once you set foot inside the stadium inside the stadium. No because it's all outdoors. Okay yes so i was. I was covered in that scenario. Worst viewed as an outdoor venue. Okay so even though servers. Were not wearing masks. No the servers were wearing masks. I think generally speaking servers in most places are now wearing masks because of the Because of this new thing that we got going on but everybody else free and clear because it's an outdoor venue and they still haven't changed the rules for that and it's nice to be out there with a whole bunch of people screaming our heads all tell you this much john i was. I cannot understand booing your own player. I don't understand why a guy who saved twenty one of twenty five games a guy who has been the stalwart of your bullpen. A guy that's one of the most important reasons you've won fifty nine games this year. You would boo. you wouldn't boom mariana. You wouldn't boo trevor hoffman. You wouldn't boo de grills guys are in the hall of fame right well. Kenley jansen is the all time franchise save leader for the dodgers. Nobody has saved more games than kenley. Jansen and yet people are so quick trigger. he obviously didn't have it. the cutter wasn't caught did not have i was looking at the board. He was in the low nineties. He wasn't in the mid nineties like he's been so he obviously wasn't dominating but booing him i think is one unfair and to not good for the long term mental health kenley jansen so you don't think fan should ever do their own team. Kim Ng Makes Baseball History
"We'll somali i. Can you talk about your own relationship with kim hang. How did you get to know her. I started reporting on the dodgers around two thousand eight or nine with espn. And i'd see her on the field and she always was just kind of calmly standing there and you know just seemed like whatever interaction she had with people were seemed to be efficient and short and so it kind of intrigued me. Who is this person. So we just got to talking like. Oh this is this is coming. She's says gm and all of a sudden she's telling me stuff like we've got this kid kenley jansen as a catcher. You really can't hit those we put them on a mound and the results are interesting. Clayton's working on a slider molly. You should really check it out. But the where she would say it was so matter of fact and so dislike whole-home that that's kind of what stood out to me about her and then we've kept in touch over the years. How would you describe her personality. What she like completely unflappable. I think the first thing that needs to be done is. I've got a really familiarize myself with all. The ins and outs of the players. Deadpans are totally cool under pressure. Like the person you gonna call if you were kidnapped and needed the ransom delivered by noon with no you know without tipping off the police or anything else you. She won't be there. Where are we who these players are. And you know. That's that's at this point. The nuts and bolts of the job. Well for those. Who don't know that much about kim. And can you tell us about her career path so she played softball diversity of chicago. She was an infielder. She was really good. I was really a a sports nut love to play and she then became an intern with the white sox and twenty one years old working in the white sox baseball ops as an intern and at the time the other white sox were very good club had a lot of good young players and it was really just about learning and soaking it. All in absorbing all that i could and by the time she was twenty nine she was brian. Cashman the yankees assistant general manager and that was in one thousand nine hundred ninety eight. They won titles ninety eight ninety nine and two thousand now. Let's be clear here. That had she been a man she would have gotten a gm job somewhere else. But that didn't happen. Molly you about saying and how. She operated differently than her peers in l. a. Can you tell us about that. I mean that that dodgers organization was by a bunch of guys who were so emotional so yell at each other so in their feelings she was just sort of just like standing there. Like i can't believe you guys and so it was just like toddlers running around at her feet. Two thousand five. The gm position becomes open and she interviewed for that job. What happens there. She was by all accounts. She was right there and franklin court the former owner of the dodgers wanted to hire her her pedigree spoke for itself. She had three world series rings. She had sixteen years in the business and the owner frank mccord. He wanted the credit of hiring the first female general manager. But what i was told later was that he was scared of the backlash of being the first guy to fire a female general manager. Because as we know it's a cutthroat industry n. gm's they don't their shelf life long even talented ones and so that was one of the reasons he was too scared of that. I guess the mcchord years got really ugly and about i say i wanna say two months before. The dodgers filed for bankruptcy. Because of a court drove the team into the ground. She got out of there and went to work with joe. Torry be again demonstrating how smart. She is molly. You know as well as anybody that kim has been talked about for basically twenty years now as the person who is going to be the first woman. Gm in baseball. Do you have a sense. For how many teams have considered her or interviewed for this position. Because yesterday when i wrote my story i published. I said as far as we know. The dodgers angels the padres the giants the mariners. They've all any reader and within like two minutes. My story going up. Somebody with orioles texted me. Oh we interviewed or to like it was just like everybody is interviewed her. Just sit there going through this anymore. They're just putting me through this so they can fill their quota or whatever i'm not gonna put myself section but she just did not give up and that's really the way a lot of my career has gone is just every step of the way it working as hard as i could give you my nose to the grindstone and just you know getting to the next level but i think this is so valuable to any of us who do have specific dream in mind about something. We'd like to do one day. And that's you know when you call close and you don't get that job that you desperate for just got a flick flush it and let it go and not let it break you to the point where you're not going to try again.

"Ryan in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Brian, You're on ESPN 1000. What's going on? Not much. I just wanted to talk to you guys in reference to about a Zafar as the World Series and all that, But I need you to put your I just want you guys to put your Dodger cap on and not your MLB cap on and all that. And what I mean is that you Yeah, just like I just anyway, Here's what I'm trying to hear is what I'm trying to say, is that first of all the incident which snail and all the the Dodgers would have won the game Regardless, snail could not He was coming out either the film for six innings and if you look at, and if you look at the Dodgers and all just looking at the World Series, most of all Tampa Bay was overmatch once before in their lineup once before they'll there, okay. After four. Who are you scared off? Who you scared the pitch to Dodgers want. Who are you going? It's like, take your choice. You know, they were just They were just simply as faras a safari overmatched and they understand the judges was scoring like 100 bucks when they had to go out. And they were doing it. Also on Let's remind. Let's also figure this out. The Dodgers were doing it in the late innings, so when tap, obey with scoring or whatever it might be about the fifth. If it's to nothing in all, the Dodgers was coming back and they were winning. And they was using that itwas too, as far as to what to to, you know, start to their to their advantage. On I and I think that's what gives. That's what get lost because I kept hearing the the the announcer talk about how great that chapel's our bullpen Wass but have a bullpen state. They had their e R was higher in the World Series in the villages. The Dodgers were in all then, and that's how the judge was running. They was getting to the boat and the Dodgers are very patient. You know, you know that sort of thing They've been playing the way they played the World Series. They have been playing that a soiree for years, and the last thing that I'm going to say, is in reference to when you're talking about the coaching. Ah, and all that one of the things is, even though I love the Dodgers. I am not on board with. I don't like the way that Robert's coach Because of the way like, for instance, with Jensen and you waited until you waited until the start of the game, the start of the World Series to say we don't know if he's been just he's been your relieve all year that was shaky ground. And then you're going to do with then you're going to wait so gay three toe one o'clock in the afternoon to tell a rookie pitcher that they gotta pitch at seven o'clock that evening. That's not cool that that's just not cool. And this is the end and what ends up happening in game for which I'm not going to even talk about But it ends up and I'm gonna go back to Jensen. The same thing that has happened in game or if you watch the World Series that the Dodgers were involved in 2017 and 2018 Jensen has always gave up the one when the Dodgers were either ahead or they needed him. Most. And he is not a clutch player. Brian, your team won the World Series last night. I agree, but it But even if you got this covered, all right, did you sell right? You've got improved. You got into, Did you say you got here? Did you celebrate last night? Oh, yeah, definitely celebrated. Alright, I agree. They confer the calling, you know, with Kenley Jansen, you It seemed like all season. He was labouring as they're closer. I know that they were having issues with him, and I was watching all these late night Dodger games. And there's Kenley Jansen taking 15 seconds in between each pitch as he stood on the mound. And you're pulled his leg up and put it down. Put his leg up. Put it down. Deep breath. And then the pitch. I mean, my God, Kenley Jansen. Every time I come to the first point bets, Seeger Turner, Muncie. I mean, it's difficult to get through that don't understand a lot of fear that if your cash and your the rays you can't just go in and be like, well, the Dodgers are gonna win this eventually. So I might as well pull him. You know what I mean? Like you can't. You can't go in there. Could you mentality Boston Chicago If if our team won a championship, and that's the way We're calling radio stations the day after Well, guys, I mean, look, the Bears are going to win on Sunday, so why even show up to the stadium? Quiet on the title, but our next year, Salim in Elgin, you're still on hold with the Dodgers thoughts. No. Okay, we'll check back in with Salim a minute, Robert in Downers Grove. You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Robert? I know we're like tracing a lot of problems back through the bears right now, But like, hey, if you guys stick with me first Defense wins championships, right? Really? We We met. What it's like to not have a key makes last year. We have a key mix. We've lost to a team with the forced Buckner and Aaron Donald and Coulson neutralized Archy mix because they have a Quentin elephant. I'm tired of washing every quarterback we have from J color, and even before that, get beat up. Chris Williams getting drafted. We need to quit, Nelson. All right, Thanks for the call. Robert. Appreciate it. Let's go to Nick in Jefferson Park. You're on ESPN 1000. What's up, Nick? Without his longtime this understands forever. Me. Thanks. Are you first time caller, too? No. Unless we talked about the 40 Niners how the bear should a lot. Oh, yeah, I remember. So I'm watching the game on Monday was just agonizing of throwing stuff. I'm sitting here. 50 socks. Nick Foles can't No Veda pocket can't step back. 23 times, let alone five Travis. He might be a more elusive outside the pocket. Why can't we give Colin Kaepernick a call? You know, it seems like you put in that Mackey's if we're not gonna get rid of them. Seem better in the too People. They just want the team doesn't believe enough. So I don't know why we can't give that man a call. Yeah, No, that's interesting. I take there in Kaepernick has not gotten a call from any No one in the national think maybe for if you want to say Bring in Kaepernick for Something for next season. I can understand, But in this year with the amount of time it would take for him to come in, get a workout and then go through the covert of protocols..
Los Angeles Erupts As Dodgers Win First World Series Championship In 32 Years
"I WANNA zoom out here now on the dodgers as this franchise because this was their first championship in thirty two years and I was watching Dave Roberts and putting aside all of the Cova. Complications it was hard not to feel something for that guy and it was hard to feel something for this organization N. This fan base and this city. So what did you make of the dodgers finally getting over? This. Particular Hump, you know I think that Dave Roberts has been a guy who at times has been rightly maligned for his decision making but the decision making that will stick with me from this postseason has to do with two pitchers Clayton Kershaw in Julio. Arenas Dave Roberts twenty four hours before he won a world series championship got booed by a crowd that was almost entirely dodger fans at a neutral site stadium. It was a really weird thing. This guy who's got all these supposed demons and October's getting a standing ovation coming off the field. For for people who think he should have stayed in the game it was just a very bizarro situation and you know what I think Dave? Roberts. made the right move there. And people are always going to say process over outcome process over outcome raised died on that mantra and. Dave Roberts lived on it. He ended up going with Julio Arias for the last three innings of the clincher in the S. In the last three innings of the clincher in the world series he had Clayton Kershaw and Kenley Jansen, his two rocks out in the bullpen ready and willing to go and he said now I'm a stick with a kid who's pitching. He stuck with the guy who looked good and that is one thing that Kevin cash did not do. And there's an argument to be made. That they lost the world series because of that. And then you look at Julio. Maria Standing There Austin Barnes catching that call third strike in grabbing the ball with his right hand and stuffing in his back pocket. That's history in his back pocket right there and the celebration that came afterward and all of the madness and weirdness and oddity of two thousand twenty being wrapped up in such a perfect though.

Well, what you have is a game where there is just such a ridiculous amount of back and forth as the drama builds throughout the night. Now, early in the game, it goes to the Dodgers solo shots, putting up a couple of home runs on the board. Okay, raise respond with the home run. What do you know? It's a rose arena, who's just completely out of his mind in these playoffs, so he gives you a big home run. He sets a record more on that later. He's setting a lot of records. But what you see throughout the rest of the night from the fifth inning on is just a constant seesaw. Of big hits, Crazy plays and again unforgettable baseball. And so what happens is where this culminates You have an incredible sequence of events that happens in the bottom of the ninth inning. Dodgers are up Okay. 7 to 6. And what you get. Is a Rosa Raina coming up to the plate against Kenley Jansen. Now the Dodgers naturally have to have a little bit of a huddle because the night before a Rose Arena hits a home run off a Kenley Jansen Sofer Kenley Jansen to be facing a rose arena in the bottom of the ninth with men on that is the nightmare scenario now. It ends up being okay. Okay. They welcome full count. Then that walking him fun. Not the worst thing That could happen, right? You're still in it. You still have the lead. "In America the men are men and the women they win the World Cup congratulations ladies good evening to you John Miller back here at oracle park where the Phillies beat the giants nine to six and we're going to review the ball game here with some highlights momentarily but first let's go places with the Toyota out of town scoreboard and down in LA some wild goings on in what had been a pitcher's duel the Dodgers got to run to the second against a Robbie ray and those have been the only runs the Dodgers have gotten with the Phillies the D. backs had no runs at all against Walker Buehler but they got him out of the game after six innings because of the picheny through a a hundred one pitches and was gone after six Dodgers went to their bullpen got through the eighth inning with that and brought in Kenley Jansen veteran closer but Dick Kenley Jansen gave it up a two run Homer by Carson Kelly the D. backs catcher tied the game now they're in extra innings they've gone to the eleventh inning and the whole deal Riaz is pitching and Carson Kelly has hit another home run so the D. backs have a three to two lead that game is in the eleventh inning in LA the D. backs are still battling and the Dodgers have only two hits in that game through the first ten innings Padres over the Rockies for the second night in a row seven a one was the final cal Quantrill get the best of Kyle Friedlander Josh Naylor hit a home run for the pods up in Seattle in the American League the rays beat the mariners five to three let's see what else in New York with the battle the red hot New York Mets to project themselves back into the wild card division race and that tonight they were facing the leaders in the National League wildcard race and I think both teams also keeping an eye on first place Atlanta but for the time being they were head to head and it was a wild game he was three to three after four innings and then the nationals on a home run by Anthony read don't want had five to three in the seventh and added to it to make it sixty three going to the last of the ninth inning and to do that okay men the Washington closer but the Mets got a couple of men on for it Todd Frazier.

"Of the eighties kind of just goes, wow. Does he know out of pitch? This is awesome bullpen. He watched them throw in the bullpen and was dazzled by his understanding of pitching that was. And now he understands that even better, he sharpened his stuff. He's finally healthy. And man, he is breathtaking to watch on a level where not overpowering, but even more impressive. How he gets people out this season. And he's part of a great rotation. They have a tremendous lineup. They have tremendous defensive efficiency staff seems excellent at defensive positioning. But I think what we saw with kenley Jansen over the weekend. Tim confirms the dodgers need some bullpen help and really important bullpen helped at least two pieces they need not only I think a left hander a guy like Brad hand, would make a lot of sense Sean Doolittle fleet Vasquez. We talked about last week, but they also need a right hander Tim after watching kenley Jansen with his stuff flattened out that Rizzo hits basically a cookie to old fastball. And then he struggled again last night to get through that ninth inning. I think they gotta get somebody who has. Experienced closing games in case kenley Jansen needs help. What do you think I agree with? You know, aren't Cory Seager cups back? If we'll be the only issue is how do we get people out late in the game? Which is still a big issue. Janson is just not the same pitcher was four years ago with that color that you just sit just dart across the strike zone and Anthony Rizzo took a step, you know he stands right on top of the plate. He backed off the plate in that at bat for the two run home for it said, you know, I'm not gonna let him get the now to the catcher. The buyer gets off the play here and see how this works. It's the ball in course is home run to ultimately win that game. But you could make one jesmyn like that, and see it so much better against can't give that consi- that the dodgers have to do something. I think they will do something. And you mentioned the too perfect candidate hand to do little and we'll find out after this week, whether do little is going to be available because. The nationals got the Phillies and then the Braves we're gonna have a whole lot more about their future. And with the way, the Indians, are even though they played very well lately, if they're in the habit of saving money. They have to boot Brad hand, and he could help an awful lot of people. Yeah. And the cubs will be getting Craig kimbrel back soon. He's going to make his first appearance for triple a Iowa on Tuesday nights, Dallas, kaikal will likely make his first start for the Braves against the nationals on Friday, Tim at a time when it looks like the Braves are ready to take off and run away from that division. Yeah. Car to an opponent of the brave the other day, he called them disgusting, and he meant it. It's disgusting that any team is that young and that talented and we see it all the time with a Kuni junior now often Ryan and others as the Albee's has been really good. But the way that, that they have really connected with some older guys Josh down to the great lately. Brian McCann critical guy in the clubhouse and got a big hit the other day on to FREDDY Freeman and bam Kimball. I really like what really down. I think they've already separated themselves that. Vision, I thought would be a fourteen race now doubt, raise and I think the clear team to beat now is braids with what they doubt in the last couple of weeks, your non Alvarez four homers in his first five games in the big leagues sit. At time when the Astros are without Jose altuve, and Carlos gray and George Springer week we lauded the Anki so much for surviving injuries to key guys early in the year. The National League MVP balloting. A season ago and hobby or by he's one for four with runners at first and third to down three to dodgers in the night Janssen against by here comes swaying. That below ticked up a little bit right there. Ninety three for that fastball. This is a save particularly right here that kenley Jansen are just in this match up with bias. Old one account. You're gonna foul to the right. And that's backed out of play Janssen ahead. All june. Baya's the cubs down to their final strike. Everybody on their feet here Dodger Stadium. I have to tell the person who's harder than anyone in the world to tell I gotta tell everybody good. God, it's a hard decision to make. It's why it's why they could be extorted and no good options, Dan zero. There is one option that I guess you spend less money on because eventually it's going to come out. That's why they always say, never actually pay the blackmailer, because they're just gonna come back asking for more or perhaps you should have thought about all this on the front end. They know he's always there. He's always there for you play the result guy. So when you're again for the record, if you didn't know how to handle the situation, according to God's. I can't get past the magic stugatz as he is Stu gods. In Aretha Franklin's family. The Queen of soul. So what do you imagine? Stugatz finds out look. Hey, because if he finds the will and it doesn't have anything for him. He's ripping it up. Right. "So I love big events like that. They're real like we used to realize proceeds that's right. The other thing I loved about Gaga yesterday is just like she we talked when we we were just talking about this with with stran- McVeigh. You gotta be able to evolve and grow, right? So she has been lady Gaga she's shown so much in her musical career than she was an actress now and the Bradley Cooper Laurie born she went from the girl who was more exhibitionist with like, we're in the raw meat dress. Now, she's like legit superstar. So you got to walk that line. I'm trying hard. I'm putting on the show, but I'm not trying to hide he was previously like Madonna met Bjork. Good. That's good mash up. Yeah. And now, she is right. She's a legit superstars. But how do you own that? But also say interesting once you're on top you got to find ways to be interesting while you're on top. You can't try too hard. Because then you jump the shark, right? I think I'll pass that at this point. I think Gaga is locked and loaded lead pipe sealed as lifetime lifetime. But what if she just went too far on the dress? What if she went too far on the happens? It was. It might have too much one one. Outfit change too much, and you jumped the shark. Yeah. That's how quick like do you think Dwayne and Gabby for? No. I thought it was funny. Like, I thought I thought they went further than that. Would it have been too much if they would have gone more than that? It might have been hang out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean the Gaga three or four dresses. That's that's too much are are met gala. Correspondent Stephen a Smith wants to weigh way. I mean, he's not happy. He's not a fan. Apparently. So Beckham's sleeveless tuxedo. You'd see that. I missed that. I did not see that actually. Yeah. It looked lazy to me. Yeah. Yeah. Some people have said that about Oto buckle before. Yeah. Now. Is it is it too much to say that kenley Jansen may need to be it may the dodgers may need to consider someone else at closers too much to say that not too much. I mean last year, right? Wasn't pretty at the end. We know he had the heart condition. Obviously you feel for him in those situations. There's two blown saves this year Julio DS had to finish it off for him recently. Craig kimbrel is sitting out there for not for free. But I'm saying you don't have to give up anything for for him. Sitting is I think if you don't have your kimbro than you killing kenley, you gotta trae kenley 'cause kenley end Kimball. Both only can only to be closures. They don't wanna be eighth inning guy. They're not gonna be like, I'm okay in just Kimberly. Even have I would be an eighth inning guy. But I think the issue is that once you signed Kimball at this stage of the game. We're in the first week of may you're bringing in a closer whether he's closing or not. But he may have. Have pain and everybody in the clubhouse knows if there's another slip up from kenley? Well, then you're probably going to change things up one way or another. So they the friction will be there. Whether or not only lies the position about Brandon moral into closer and paid them a bunch of money and can lead in like it. Right. And then moral ended up blowing up and kenley reassume the closer role. Right. That was seen as a remarkable act of disloyalty when they brought in Moro for that role. And then kenley retook his position the thing with kenley. That's interesting. He do you know his backstory, I know the backstory that he was killed him curse. Al was supposed initially a catcher. Right. I know that what happened was the lake is the dodgers saw that the kid had an arm. He wasn't a very good hitter..

"No because I think he's probably gonna. Aside with you when they hand the ball to kenley Jansen at the start of the ninth inning. How do you feel in your gut fine? Happy ready to go ready that he's going to. I think he's gonna get out of it. You are alike. Why I say I feel like okay? I wonder I've seen it fourteen. I wonder which kenley were getting I've seen what I seen it fourteen times. It's worked twelve I like the odds. Right. But he to say that he has has not been dramatic is being less than honest. He's had some he's had some issues where he's given up runs. He I think he gave up six earned runs in seven outings. So he was giving up one run per game almost defend him for this. He actually does tend to give up runs when they have a three run lead. Well, here's an I if I was him. I would throw strikes in a lot of that is just throwing strikes because you've got to lead. He's five. Oh, he's converted eighty five percent of a safe chances. I don't know. What else you can do? Now is he's the same pitcher as he was two years ago. No his cutter used to be in the ninety four ninety five range. Now, it's in the ninety one ninety two range. So he's lost some velocity on it. That's an actual. He walks a few more guys than he than he used to walk. He's allowing a little more traffic on the basis. But again when it comes down to a twelve or fourteen and save ops is is a pretty sparkling record. And I do think Julio area says it is an excellent setup guy, Greg but the bullpen Joe Kelley has been terrible Joe Kelley got Alexander's been great great Dylan has been great fantastic job is has been pretty good been very good. Besides like one or two outings reassigned of the pen. It's been solid. Yep. Jimmy Garcia has actually been really good for a little while now where he's not giving up runs and he's not giving hits either. He's just been cleaned for. He started off the year really to your terror. He did. But then since then if you wanna look at his last seven, he's he's had about three innings, and he's given up nothing with just three case. Okay. So he's coming in and getting the job done. Ross stripling in his two. He's had two games. Nothing. The only time that he gave up runs, and it was bad was because he was off off rest. So he pitched on a Saturday and then on as a starter and then on Tuesday when he wasn't fully rested. He came in as a as a reliever. Yeah. I have my concerns about the bullpen and the Joe Kelley signing at least at this point is a bust. I think when it matters because you're gonna start seeing when the game is not on the line if they're down eight to five right? You're gonna start seeing guys that you're that are not really meaningful in those situations. Maybe you'll see Joe Kelley in that situation because it doesn't matter and he's ready to give up a run. Here's my here's my criticism. When it matters the right geyser in might criticism of Andrew Friedman. And again, he's tough to criticize these won the division every year. He's in the National League two straight trips to the World Series. But if you look at the off season money that they had the opportunity to spend this year, they signed AJ Pollock who's gone for six weeks and is on a five year deal, and they signed Joe Kelley on a three year deal and. Something like three years thirty three twenty five twenty five that signing at least at this moment is a bust at them. And it's it's early, but there were better places to spend that money, I think, and that's usually why you don't go and spend money on bullpen. I mean, especially at the beginning of the year. That's that's an issue normally free. Now you see at the beginning of the year in the bullpen are not the same guys. You see at the end of the year in the bullpen is just different year in year. Plus Joe Kelly it was almost recently by Joe Kelley had a great World Series against us. But he was.

"Twice coming up. Short twice and motivation. The big prize still out there to be had. How does Dave Roberts? Get it. More on the motivational side than the frustration side. I don't think Dave. I mean, I don't think there's a lot management has to do with this team in terms of motivation. She talked to these guys individually. You know, from kenley Jansen the Justin Turner, I do think when you come so close, and you know, they were a lot closer to years ago pushing the Astros to game seven not as much last year against Red Sox. But you know, when you use the World Series try twice. I don't know. If there's any experience in pro sports that can make you hungrier than wanting to get back there. 'cause I covered, you know, NFL last year and just seeing the ram. Super bowl. I swear it seems it's almost worse to get all the way to the championship and lose to them even get there in the first place. So it's a hungry motivated team. They know it's a really season. What's the word battle-tested, you know, really kind of? They have a lot of a lot of character. A lot of savvy. They're really, you know used to playing pressure. I think the experience they've had these last October's can only help them to perform and that kind of pressure that kind of attention. So I don't think motivation is going to be a factor at all fair enough as well paid as they are. You know as as much as they've been around. As a veteran of some of these guys are they are extremely motivated to. Yeah. It's been thirty what thirty thirty one years. Won a championship. They wanna be the one to end that streak. Understood. I last thing Mike, if not the dodgers, then who who do you think is their main challenger neon LSU? No, I think you have to look at the, you know, the NFL teams. I don't think. Well, the brewers for sure you know, if they go out and sign kimbrel. I haven't. Today. You know, if they can get a guy like that's gonna really help. They look really strong in central. And you know, it's gonna be really interesting to see how the Phillies do I think they've made some even outside of the Harper signing, you know, getting real Muto to catch and they look to be real real contender this year. So I think there's a couple of teams, you know, in the NFL that won't give them problems. I just don't see anybody in the NFL west, maybe the Rockies hang tough like they did last year. I just don't see the west is being a bigger issue for the dodgers and says, I think maybe getting back to the bulls series. Mike, good stuff. We appreciate you coming on board. We'll touch base in season. Thanks for coming on preseason with us and giving us a good preview. All right. Thank you. My pleasure. Mike Di Giovanni from the LA times. "But I think in future seasons. He's got a shot to be I I don't want to say Corbin burns potential or anything. But I think he has a shot to be pretty effective pitcher with his team. So this isn't a team that I would think would be chasing starting pitching. Like big starting pitchers of his all the bigwigs are out of this place. But no chance Dallas Kyko ones up in Milwaukee. Right. Yeah. I would say extremely unlikely. I don't think they're going to be actively seeking to give out a a lengthy lucrative multi year contract to guy like Dallas or any of these guys. Yeah, you're not the nets or the angels. You don't dispense. Stupid money or. Yeah. Same with the Phillies to they're going to be spending some stupid. Oh, yeah. That was a quote that was the quote of the year right there. Yeah. No. I if I was a reporter that got that one. I would have been doing some jumping jacks. All right. Tell the public where they can find you and kind of what you've got going on. Yeah. So you can follow me on Twitter at by Robert Murray, and you can find me on the dot com. I cover the brewers and in also on Twitter. I do a lot of different national coverage in a report sanding, and trades and all sorts of good stuff. And I have a a lot of good. I have a lot of fun with that. So if you're interested in that kind of stuff feel free to follow me on Twitter. So I think we're gonna have a lot of names at the same rate when we come down to this. I have at number one. I actually have a breakout star. It takes a lot of talent a lot of stuff to have a lower era Coors than you do on the road cow free number one for me. Twenty eighteen star Waqar Bieler number two Clayton Kershaw three Madison. Bumgarner number four and Kirby Yates coming in at number five from San Diego a little bit of an honorable mention to analyst newbie, Luke weavers Grinky and then kenley Jansen. That's a that's a solid list in the bottom. There is a little surprising either. I didn't have Caribbean. Mine. We have a similar one though I've walked Bill number one. I mean, the kids just nasties twenty four years old. He throws hundred miles an hour. He's got devastating. You know? I'll I'll I'll say in quotes off speed stuff because he's still throws a ninety. You know is movement. Sick. He's like twenty four years old. Like, I was saying he's going to be around for a long time. He's going to be the next Kershaw when asked her Shaw gets older. So he's number one. Number two. Kyle Freeland the kids in absolute stud. He does not get rattled. That's one of my favorite things about him. He could give up a leadoff home runs and strike up next. Twenty doesn't care. He pitched excellent in the playoffs. He in the wildcard game. Specifically, he does have a lower Yarra at home, of course field which is almost impossible compared to his away. So that's why haven't number two number three. Clayton Kershaw is a legend. He's a hall of fame pitcher. He's arguably the best dodgers digital time. Obviously co. Faxes there. But he's he's unbelievable. Especially doing in today's day and age. So I'm always going to have in my top three number four is teammate. It's kenley Jansen yellow been off year this year. I mean when your heart is all messed up, and you're out hospital procedures that's going to happen. But when he came back he was strong out. I'll take the playoffs out are they gonna sprinting a precedent? How it was able to battle all that. It was end to come in any came back. Then he then he got off it again. He wasn't the then he came back again in the dodgers were a mess without him. They were like one in eight at one point in a ton of Ben problems like four blown saves on row any really anchored it down. So having him at four the only reliever there for majors because of how much of the study is number five split. It's got Zack Ranki who is Mr. every other year..
"kenley jansen" Discussed on Fantasy Focus Baseball
"Here is look what he didn't half a season. I'll. Grant, you he's not going to take a walk batting average could be a major problem. But not like he's not gonna Joey Galloway either. He's got speed. So I'm not saying he's trae Turner. But he might be trae Turner with like thirty less batting average points. And to me that's a top seventy five players. So I'm going to rank them that way. Like who do you think of the most polarizing players right now? I mean modesty and Harper right there. I guess you could say Kershaw some people still rank kershaw's their top pitcher. You don't. I don't. Kenley Jansen some people might still rank him as the top closer Vlad. Right. Vlad guerrero. We're having ranked fifty nine so Vlad valid came combined. We didn't discuss it beforehand. But glad came to mind as we're we're gonna talk about polarizing players. I don't think it's the performance. That's polarizing I think it's whether you're willing to invest the price for a rookie. Well, I'm willing to invest the price in this rookie. My only concern is does he sit in the minors in percolate for two meaningless weeks. Kris Bryant did a few years ago or is it half a season? And that's my main concern. But there's no question the guy can hit. Yup. And I think he can hit right away. And I think he could be a top twenty major league hitter right away. Yep. Why I don't know if he's playing in April, or if it's the all-star break or whatever with the Blue Jays, we're doing here. And you know, the fact that it's been a slow market, so far I think helps Vlad Guerrero in a way like Toronto really hasn't done a whole lot offensively where to make this. So it's a guess. But again, it's upside, and I'm willing. I'm more willing than I used to be. I know who is this guy to take chances on players with upside. And to me Vlad as crazy upside. He's in my top fifty part of the reason for that is that I push pitchers down a little bit further than you, do especially closers. I'm not taking your closer in round four or five. You've got your first closer kenley Jansen number fifty five. Should he be the first closer? I don't know. Should I don't think he should go that early? There's certainly no guarantees with this guy. Right. But we're still waiting for a bunch of other players to sign contracts, and that affects things to Pollock Dallas Keiko Craig kimbrel who still thinks he's getting a five year deal. Good luck without fellow. I mean, so I can still change your but in the rankings again like most ballparks are kind of in the middle for production. They're not as great as chorus field and they're not like the Mets stadium. So it kind of it's not going to matter that much in the rankings to me. So basically, you said what what could change your rankings in the next four weeks six weeks health like Kris Bryant being healthy yellow. I think he is anything else like who are some players that you think you could be moving in your rankings whether way before I think promise of a job with flat is big I could get behind that top fifty rank. I do like him that much you and I have both seen him play in the minors. A couple of times his talent is absolutely legitimate. And when you look at projections, like the steamer projections are projection out there. He can meet those numbers. I just like to know that he's going to play every single day. I think the floor is pretty gosh. Darned elevated. I'd say health for guys like, Cory Seager? I think are going to be very big in terms of determining the rankings for me Janssen, you'd mentioned before. How the Yankees breakdown their infield based on having cluttered at there. I want to see where labor tourists plays..
