"Old Chicago pizza and taproom game day is at old Chicago. James write down Nathaniel Hackett as of right now is still the coach of the Denver Broncos. If he is not fired today, what exactly would have to happen for him to be fired during the season? Yeah, I think that's a very good question. It would send the signal to me and I think the most Broncos country that he's safe for the year will reevaluate after the final game of the season. I guess if they played the chiefs and it was a total debacle like the Raiders game, which actually Daniels back in what, 2010 to 59 to 14 game, maybe that would be embarrassing enough 'cause that was the, you know, that would be on a national stage. But no, if he's still the head coach at his press conference today at three 15, I think that's a sign he's going to remain the head coach and I think that's the way it's going to go because if George Payton decides a Nathaniel Hackett has to go, then why on earth would the new ownership group say, well, you should be the guy that picks the next head coach. You did such a bang up job on this one. This guy lasted 11 games. So I think George Peyton and Nathaniel Hackett are attached at the hip here. And I think they're going to try and spin it. There was some newness, a lot of close games, then the injury bug hit, and that's when it really got bad. I think they're both going to be here all year. I think they're both going to be back next year if you made me bet. Yeah. Wow, really? Hold on. I'm sorry. I got to follow up on that. What makes you think that Nathaniel hack is specifically will be here next year? Because I think it would be an admission by George Payton that he blew it on the coaching search when he interviewed ten different people and decided Nathaniel Hackett was the best guy over Kevin O'Connell when he decided not to even interview Brian dabel or Mike mcdaniel. You got three rookie head coaches that are having a ton of success and he picked this guy. I think if he fires him, then Greg penner has got to ask, well, why on earth should you be in charge of the search the next time around? A year later, why would we trust you to do it again when we're having to pay this coach that was a total disaster. So I think it's in George Payton's best interest for his own survival to spin it as all the excuses and all the reasons it's gone off the rails and by his head coach another year. Yeah, man, I can't even I can't even fathom and I'm not wanting that that'll stand on the stand on the soapbox and say we got to fire people, but what we have witnessed here and especially here down the stretch when we've made offensive changes, we've hired, we've given play calling duties over is this team's pathetic and yesterday was yesterday was, to me, the straw that breaks the camel's back. Offensively, there was, well, the whole team was unprepared to play, James. You can't, I just can't imagine you continuing this debacle. And sometimes I don't know, I was thinking about this. Has there ever been a first year head coach? I know there's been like Steve woolf's got fired. The guy that you just lost to got fired in his first year after the season was over. They wait till the season was over with it. Has there ever been a first year coach fired in the middle of his first year? Boy, not that I can recall. I mean, a couple of walked away, right? Didn't Lou holtz walk away in the middle of his first year with the jets way back in the day and was Saban in his first year with the dolphins when he failed. I mean, maybe, but I don't think they were fired. I think they walked away. At the end of the year, who was the one and done coach in Miami that wanted 15, he was the offensive coordinator for the ravens and he was a disaster yet fired. Was he cam Cameron? Jim Cameron. Urban Meyer got fired, right? Didn't he get fired last year? Yeah, he did near one, but that was, you know, he was, he was out partying with coeds and yes, he was fired because he was an embarrassment to his team. And look, right? I'm with you guys and think everything you said in terms of being unprepared yesterday and it was an embarrassment. 100% right. And I think he should be gone. I think the fact that after the biweek, it hasn't gotten even a little bit better if anything, it's gotten worse. That's a sign to me that, well, why let him have the off season to fix it? He didn't, not that you're going to fix everything in two weeks, but you would think you'd see some change some improvement. That to me is a sign he's incapable of fixing it. He should be gone. If he's gone though, George Peyton has gone too. He just has to be. I don't know how you can have a GM who gets to hire a coach again, and you certainly can't have a GM that isn't involved in the process. And it's my column today at Denver fan dot com. George Payton's the biggest problem. Right now, he's done more damage to this organization than Josh McDaniels ever dreamed of. I mean, it's been one mistake after another, including a trade that right now looks like it's as bad as the Herschel Walker trade then compounded with the contracted guys. The dead cap for Russell Wilson next year is a 107 million. It's 83 after that. It's 49.6 after that. It's 31. I mean, this guy's going to be here four or 5 years at least. And I don't think it's all on him, but boy, that is just saddling the organization with a soon to be 34 year old quarterback. It doesn't appear to be anything that he used to be. George Peyton should be the public enemy number one in Broncos country. He is the biggest villain, and I don't even think it's close. Yeah, I would argue this. I don't think that the Herschel Walker trade right now the way Russell Wilson's playing can hold a candle. At least Russell, at least Herschel Walker still could play. Russell Wilson is as though he forgot how to play. I've never seen other than injury. I was racking my brain last night at the airport, 'cause I had time, James. I had lots of time. Have I ever, ever, I even talked to Trey wingo about it. Ever seen a player that had a more precipitous fall from grace. Without significant injury issues, then Russell Wilson. This E has gone from a 9 time pro bowler to a rookie who can not play. I can't think of one other player that has ever had that dramatic a drop. It's remarkable, and you're right, the Herschel Walker trade, half of his career, both in terms of years and stats came after that trade. I mean, he still was a fairly good football player. He had a thousand yard season after the trade. So it wasn't as though he was a guy who just couldn't play. And yet, Russell Wilson, to me, and this is amazing considering all that he's accomplished. He looks like a guy who's confident is completely shot because if you compare him yesterday to what we saw up in Seattle, where he went into a buzz saw. That setting was as nasty as it can be for a regular season game and mid September. And he actually played pretty well. He threw for 340 yards. I mean, they boot the ball up and down the field. We all know the story. They should have had 30 points in that game. Where he is now compared to that is amazing. And I think it's a guy who's got one. I think it's confidence is shot. And the more he tells us he doesn't get nervous, the less I believe it. And two, then this goes back to George Payton. He's playing with a bunch of guys that, I mean, some of them would have been lucky to make those replacement rosters back in 1987. I mean, Kendall hit and played the whole game. I mean, George Peyton's inability to recognize when Tim Patrick got hurt that uh oh, we better go out there and add some receiver depth because we don't have a lot of weapons. Russell Wilson is a plan well, but he doesn't have a lot to work with either. All right, James, great stuff. Read the column at Denver fan dot com. We appreciate it. Appreciate it, pulse. He breaks the tackle of web and hits in towards the pylon latavius Murray hill waffle and the Broncos indeed have an opening drive touchdown for the first time this year. Car looking for Adams. He's got number 9 on the season and the Raiders are on the board. Wilson hit his he flings it and somehow it finds Melvin Gordon. How in the world do you get this ball out? Wing and a prayer. My God. It's getting spicy. Wilson blasting it. Looking for sudden and he trapped it down inside the 45. Puts it on a dime and then look at Sutton. I mean, just here comes the airplane down from the sky. Are you kidding me? Good on good. Dealing with the most Wolverine blood wins. On Wilson's best day of the season throwing the football. He throws in this time is incomplete and they'll have to hunt it away. Car. Loads up. Adams is open. Touchdown. Asleep on the Broncos for Las Vegas. Well, at least

"Yeah, there you go. Well, because they're not going all, he was hurt last year, so let's say his career is over. And they're looking at what he did toward the end of the season going back and kind of what he is. So I like that. It's much better. 13 much better than 61. They have his 20 22 projection. 4100 passing yards. 30 touchdowns. Ten interceptions. Yeah. Would you sign up for that line right now? Absolutely. With the way I think they're going to run the ball and all the other things, that's going to be that's going to be that's ten wins. Where'd that PS two? The other guys, yeah, PS two who did not make the top one. Dot com 100 list came in at number 65. Okay. Justin Simmons came in at 57, so they had two guys on the NFL dot com list. Three guys on this list. And this, by the way, this is all based on what the folks voting are projecting these guys to do this year. It's not a, hey, here's what you've done up until this point. You're last year. No, this is based on what we think you're going to do this year. So even based on what we think we're going to do, they didn't have javonte Williams on that list. They did not. That must be because they feel like he's going to be splitting carries with, right? Don't you think that'll be the case? Yeah. I think you'll do a degree. Melvin Gordon's going to get used a lot. Especially, you know, especially snipe and touchdowns. Right? Red zone stuff. Sniping. Next. On the morning bro I'm not leaving. The show goes on. They're going to need a wrecking ball to take me out of here. Man, Jimmy Jesus survivor. Yes, he is. And I bring this story up, only because the Broncos do play the forty-niners in week three, so Jimmy Garoppolo restructured his contract. Came with some no trade clauses, also a no, we will not franchise tag you. You'll be a free agent after this season, but what do you make of after a whole preseason in which he wasn't even really at the facility? I mean, he'd be at the facility, then he disappeared. Very little interaction with his teammates and coaches. So there's all kinds of theories. One is that they did not want him to end up in the hands of Seattle. That this shows that there's a little bit of a rift between Kyle Shanahan and John lynch when it comes to how much belief does Kyle really have in Trey Lance? Have you read it? Listen, you want Jimmy Garoppolo around? What a great insurance policy if Trey Lance does not does not meet the standard if they're not winning. They know they're built to win. They know they can win with Jimmy G so yeah, it's a great insurance policy. The other thing is, I know there's no trade clause, but if Jimmy facilitates a trade, they gave him an opportunity trade. This makes it much more tradable. So you can carry them on your roster and you can get value for them. Like right now, everybody knows, if we try to make a trade for they can't carry 24 extra $1 million on their cap. So they're going to have to cut him. That's what teams have just thought. Now all of a sudden they don't have to cut it. They can carry them is it 8 million bucks with a $500,000 roster bonus, right? That's chump change. So now I just think he becomes more of a viable trade option if they can get the right value. One another quick story, former buff receiver laviska chennault was traded from Jacksonville to the Carolina Panthers. He goes there in exchange for a 7th round pick in 2023 and a 6th rounder in 2024. That will do it for the morning, brew, up next, my cliff gives us a preview on what he thinks is going to happen on Broncos cut down day. That's next. Fight classes are 9 news Bronco insider. He's presented by Bette rivers sports book. Players are going to be cut today. A lot of dreams are going to end today. Do you expect anything eyebrow raising from the Broncos today? Well, maybe, maybe you want or two. Maybe one move that will raise eyebrows. I don't know what it that would be because then it wouldn't raise my eyebrow. So I'm just going to I'm just going to report and wait and see and see what they do. There's the number two quarterback position. That'll be interesting, whichever one they pick. I think we'll raise an eyebrow, you know, the one that they declined. Why? Why did you decline this guy? And why did you take why did you take ripping over Johnson? Why did you take Johnson over ripping? You know, then there's, you know, they got the overload at the outside linebacker position to see what they do there. You've got you've got a lot of receivers. I think a lot of people have become attached to some of these young receivers. Everyone likes Kendall hit and everyone likes Jalen Virgil. Everyone liked Brandon Johnson. He had that high ankle sprain. That may hurt him for the 53 man roster. Seth Williams did a lot of good things till he dropped that ball. With one 50 to go in the half. So we'll see who they keep at the receiver position, but yeah, there's always one or two where you ask why'd you cut this guy or why'd you keep this one? Back to the quarterback. What's your gut tell you? Do you have any idea who they might go with as the number two? You know, as of yesterday, and I have been in touch with kind of both quarterbacks representatives of both quarterbacks and their on the edge of their seats too. They have not heard. They had been told no decision had been made. It's going to be, I think it's going to be hack its call. It's who he believes fits his system the best? I think they might be looking around a little bit to the leak to see what's out there. And I want to see if there's any quarterbacks that they think can come in at the last minute and do a better job than the number two. I don't think that's the case. I think they'll wind up picking between these two. I've been given a slight edge to rip and because of the waiver situation, he has to clear waivers, I'm not sure he will. Based on the fact that there were a couple of teams that tried to sign him last year and the Broncos had to put him on the 53 just to avoid losing them. They did that last year. He looked a little better in the preseason this year. So that's really the only reason. And Josh Johnson would have to be released and re signed these released. He's a free agent. So he can sign with anybody, but I would think it would be maybe easier to put him on the practice squad than Brett rippon. But it kind of depends on whether George thinks that ripon would clear waivers or not. Visit with Mike plus R and I news Bronco insider Mike when it comes to cutting Sam Martin and going with corales weightman. I don't really see the big deal for paying that kind of money to a punter for a team that's been an average to below average team for the last several years. He better be special and he was pretty ordinary, pretty middle of the pack. So this one really isn't a surprise to me. Was it to you?

"It's always a good joke. Maybe something like that. But let's say he goes through somebody every 10 minutes. Rights If you're in a barber's chair, you're not. You're not there. You're not going to get a shave and the whole thing And you're there for about 10 minutes, so you can go through about 15 to 20 people over the course a little over two hours. I mean, that's almost half the chief's active roster. And what? What if suddenly you're in that covert protocol and you wind up coming up positive. You don't get out of covert protocol in time. I mean that, then with the super will be a forfeit. Would they have to have moved the Super Bowl? What they have to have figured out something else and played it a week from then or or a couple of nights later, because you'd be talking about the potential risk him too, maybe almost half the chief players. That that would have come down with a positive test or been put in covert protocol. And who knows when they be okay with being let out of it, And then the NFL is dealing with the mess on so many levels that they just don't want and this was avoided all because the chief trainer said, Let's get this guy a covert test. He saved the Super Bowl. Extra playoff share for him, man. You know what I think you get you get to signed helmets out of the locker room at the end of the day. Hey, you know what? We'll get your Brady's jersey out of the other locker room. How about that? Well, before we get to Brady's Jersey just don't take it to Mexico. We'll just walk out with it. And no one no one will know. Trust me. They'll be no video of this Now it's gonna be great. S Oh, yeah. You're telling me they're gonna have a guy walk out there with one of those briefcases that chained to his hand and all of those things to make sure that Jersey goes straight off Brady's con cave chest into secure holdings. Are you kidding me? Well, now you're telling me it's gonna be like an episode of 24 on an all new 24. Jack Bauer loses the jersey That's what it sounds like to me and hear that chick. Sick. Yeah, Look, they did a whole show on it. J referenced it when we talk to him when I watched it from well, when I was in the Fox Sports Radio studios on Sunday, I was doing show prep and that came out. I'm like I have to watch this down for a few minutes and you see the obvious Seeing over here is the guy and they put the spotlight on him in the graphics and watch him walk through and hurriedly and everybody gives them side eye, but nobody stops him. I mean, this was an international deal. Man on guy always just remember with Jay Glazer. If his sources let him down, they're going to experience some pain. He's a tough man with a lot of powerful friends. The best destinations for Carson Wentz coming up in 90 seconds, But first it's David Gascon with what's trending in the wide world of sports CG. What he got forced. My friend guys is that the New York Jets Oh, you damn right. It's a New York jets. Wow, I can't. I can't imagine Kirsten once in New York, but that'd be that'd be fun. Oh, striking hair came off is pretty soft this best years, But I can imagine it perfect for the Jets. Then anybody lanes Anyone can play quarterback for the Jets. I can imagine, literally anyone in that uniform and it not going well for them. You know who is good for them was Vinny Testaverde. He was good. Got us to the championship game. How old is he will play with thread. Farber. Who he Wasit was up there, right? He was 38. I think. Five turnovers against the Broncos. Those phones we went intended that we blew that game. You did. Thanks for taking me back to that. I appreciate that. Well, it's because he's all painted up blue and orange. Yes, dude, Shut up. That's nice. Listen, you're gonna have drew walk for the next five years. All right. Just just understand that At least they'll be at least will be a quarterback, right? It won't be a practice squad. Guy of guys didn't have Sam. Donald. Oh, sorry. You leave Kendall hitting alone to shit on that. I won't be surprised. He's a pro bowl or somewhere else, Guys. Denver and L A right now. "The worst case scenario is you've got a choice between a high draft pick Matt Ryan and Matt and Dak Prescott. Well, I I think the worry, though, and this gets brought up every time you say that the worry is is the veteran hedge that you brought in? Will help get you 27 Niner eight. Nate. And if that's the case, if you're if you're hovering around 500, you're not gonna be in position. If they get to this topic get to that point, and he's completely laid an egg. Your veteran hedges and they're to be a better hedge, though they'll skip that and go directly to you know, the third guy on the roster lose games. I mean, it could. It just depends on when they have to make that decision, And ultimately when they bench drew lock, if if that ends up being Fangio, it's a playoff mandate. And so they're you know they're going to translate that they're gonna try to fight to make the playoffs, but they're becoming screaming. They get to the point where they're eliminated. It's going to be the other way and then they'll pivot. Yeah, but I mean, they're saying that we came to say and even down the stretch Kendall hitting out there, But e but bright ribbon If he's still here, throw bread out. There's something, you know. Yeah, they're absolutely you know, they're cognizant of that, and the other part of that is if you trade back this year, you've got extra picks to be able to move up next year. See the thing I don't I'm riding with you on this to a point that but I just don't see because you know how coaches work. They don't think about it in terms of the big picture organization to think about a winning that game. They think about the moment and they think about on Lee in that moment, and then starts to that's right. And so what they're thinking is is even if they're only I'm not gonna throw out a suggestion of wind you like whatever, but if they have A chance to get to 79 or eight Nate and they just they move on from with four or five games left in the season. They're gonna play the veteran because they're going to give themselves an opportunity that would have to come above his head with assurances. Well, banjo is sticking around because there's no coach that's going to start. Lesser players. There's not unless they're gonna come back for sure. There's not a coach that's going to disregard the general manager's direct order to start a certain player and play the quarterback that he wants to, instead leading to his termination. I know the reference that you're making of that wasn't leading to his termination, though. It's about Kubiak. Yeah. Yeah, but no, he was already gone. He'd already told they were there. Yeah, but I mean, it was It was different, right? He said that they wanted him. They wanted came back tax. Today They wouldn't play packs, and he played it. You played this guy out the door, right? We already knew everybody in the media What it costs. It costs a fraction of their relationship to close guys that cause friction in their relation. Absolutely. I I don't. I don't know what you're getting at. I understand that from Vic Side. I was coming. I just I'm gonna play Andy Dalton or Dick falls or whatever to try to win games. And George Payton is like, man. You don't you know Get it. I think that I think that in the end the mean you can we can quibble over that go back and forth. But if true lock is as bad as thereby tells me is it's It's a moot point. We're gonna lose so many games that matter, and he won't be that bad. I know that. But these people who keep telling you that because they don't know how to watch tape, so then on the other side of that, what if he does take steps forward? And there's still only a 500 team Michael 500 team is 500 team That's not playing with you. That's close to 500 might get to the playoffs. 509 wins and expanded playoffs might get you in. Let's get you on the other seaside. That's that's a different thing altogether. It'll win the NFC East. "Know, Game the player of the month couple times this past year, even And, uh, so I think you guys got a great GM out of him. And I'm really jealous about that. I wish you would have stayed in Minnesota. But it is the business. You know, the business is the business. Yep. Thank you. Thank you, Rico. Heard a lot of good things about George Payton. Very well respected around the league by just about everybody that I've heard. I'm excited to see what he can do here. Be a fresh look at everything yet to Rico's point Kirk cousins this year. 4200 yards. 35 touchdowns 13 interceptions. I mean, if Drew lock has a year like that next year, everyone's pumped right. Because they're good and somewhere good numbers. It depends on what? No, I'm just just kidding. I'm just kidding. Aaron in Denver on cable news radio. Hello, Aaron. Hello there day. Nah, I don't know what this new GM is going to do. That sounds nice, but those teams didn't get to the Super Bowl. So it's all about, uh, if those teams teams at least have a chance to play in the Super Bowl, and that's how much check those teams that he was a general manager didn't get to that didn't get to the big dance. So we'll see what happens with that. But I think you brought up all these quarterbacks that the Broncos head as a starting quarterback, but the one that they really messed up. One was Tim Tebow. And I think this is with the curse of Tim Tebow. I didn't like the way John Elway treated Tim Tebow. Uh, 10. People help this team win the NFC West. They got in the playoffs. They beat a team that was supposed to be dimmed The Pittsburgh Steelers. With the New England They played a tough team led by a great quarterback Tom Brady. But Tim Tebow was not rewarded for what he did to help his team win. So instead of They brought him paint many, but that was just short term thinking. If you're going to have a front test quarterback, you wanna at least 10 to 15 years paying manuals here. What, four years? About four years. Yeah. Got him. Got him to two Super bowls or 114 years. But you like you like the move of Peyton Manning, Right, Erin, you like to move a Peyton Manning. We can agree on that correct. Yeah. I like to mean in the movement pay many, but it was short term. And the thing is, I couldn't understand what Elway didn't draft a quarterback that played like him. Did you ever ask him that question? Why did you draft the quarterback that plate like you when you were young? And you in your prime? Get that first of all and here, Thanks for the call. It's hard to find those guys. Second of all, I think I think some would make the case that John looked at Paxton Lynch not to say played just like John, but a big, strong armed pocket passer that had good mobility. There'd be some that would would throw that out there and say that may have played a part. In the final decision with Elway and company to draft packed and Lynch. The only problem was Paxton. You know, Paxton just wasn't in Paxton Lynch has enough physical talent. To play the position in this league and play pretty dog gone well, but there's a lot more that goes into it. And the preparation of an NFL quarterback and you know, it s accepting the fact that you're the quarterback. In the in the NFL. They did everything they could to give him the starting quarterback job. I mean, they did everything they could. And it still didn't work. It was just a bad pick. The Broncos, not the first team to make a bad pick. But when you do make that pick and it's as bad as it was, and it's the first round quarterback, you set your franchise back. It's just that's just the way it is. Did we mention Mark Sanchez? No. Did Mark Sanchez start in the regular season. I don't think they got rid of the med for appreciates. I think I think they did, too. Because I believe the plan that year was Is that that was that was Simeon. Yes, Simion. Think Simeon beat him all out that year. Including Paxton. Let Miss Indian head the one very good year, statistically, in fact, There's some people in town. They were called calling for the Broncos to give Trevor a long term deal. Yeah, I remember that Mitch. Trevor really had a very, very good year and then He didn't He got beat up to these people He took some shots is a lot of shots that he has since he left the Broncos too. Big, Big big shots. Billion dimmer. Next on camera news radio Dave Tip Rick and Cathy here. Heip really triplets doing how you guys doing out we're doing we're doing all right man. Doing all right? I just want to say one thing. I hope we're in the Matthew Stafford sweepstakes and they Shawn Watson sweepstakes because We don't have to worry about Josh Alan. He's out there in the East. I don't even know if we play them. Next year. We got this kid in San Diego. We gotta play twice, and he said rookie passing all time records, the main one touchdown. He broke Baker Mayfield broke the record and had it. He broke that record his first year, and we got this kid twice a year, so I just I'm just my question is are we in Sweepstakes to get a real QB in there because I don't think he's as good as Oakland's quarterback car. I don't think he's gonna be that good as car next year, we won't even talk about where you're talking about. Who's not gonna be as good as car. Oh, you if they stay with Locke? But they they withdrew lot. I mean, if you if we need the learning curve, that's funny. Let him learn under one of these proven guys are not happy where they are. And I know the price tags. Big butt stalk about winning. You know what I mean? Yeah, I don't know when I don't disagree that I think again if you can make a deal For Matthew Stafford. To me, that's that's a no brainer to me. At this point, it's a no brainer. Yeah. Otherwise, I mean, you've got we've got streakers out there that can run and our guy I mean, what was his percentage over 20 yards down the field. It was like I mean, but that's not my. You know, my beef with him is his decision making. He just doesn't. I mean, I was they were talking about the Brady's gonna play long enough. This was big Alan Jo Jo Tae Bo Brady's gonna play long enough to break all the records. Well, he can't break that rookie passing record because Justin Herbert has it and he'll never be a rookie again. Brady. But outside of that, we got to make that we gotta play that. You know Keenan Allen was hurt. What? Six games This year, both on defense was out for the Chargers. If they come back healthy, and they got a nuclear coach coming in there Uh, ever needs a QB? Yeah, I don't Billy. Thanks for the call. I'm a big fan of Justin Herbert after one year. I mean, I don't know how you couldn't be. He's big. He's athletic enough. He's got a huge arm. The job and again. I did not see that coming. I mean, you liked him in Oregon. I didn't love him love him. But the job that he did and the coaching staff which has since been fired, did to put him in positions. To really succeed. I mean, I think I think they did a terrific job with that young guy and then fired the head coach. And now he's the new offensive coordinator. OC for the Lions. Yep. Right Texture are reminding us that Kendall hit and did not start the game at quarterback, which is true..

"kendall hitting" Discussed on KOA 850 AM

"His backside? This is what it sounded like Denver's football first snap of overtime here, tied at 23 Line of scrimmage, the Bronco 20. Shotgun for Tim Tebow short motions that he wrote Tim play fakes in the pocket sets throws past talk to marry Thomas out over the 45 midfield. Here we go. 40 35 ft Race. 2015 10 past Stabbed, dead Very Seldom. It's over Denver crowd has lost their minds. It is over the first play of overtime, a playful By Tim Tebow a pass to Marius Thomas to the end zone and 80 Yard plays. And the voice on that call the one and only Dave Logan voice the Broncos listen to weekdays on Logan and Louis. Not an afternoon, right here on K O in news radio, Dave, It's good to have you here on a Friday night. We appreciate the time. How are you, sir? Hey, guys doing doing okay. How you guys doing? We're doing great since the nine year anniversary of that play, And you know, I don't know if I've asked you this before. But if calling, get calling the Tim Tebow era Like from your perspective, because you knew was gonna be three quarters of pretty miserable football at times, But then you knew the fourth quarter. You just gotta hang in there for the fourth quarter. What was that, like for you? You know what? Ryan? I think it was unlike anything that I have ever experienced. Is Azad play by play guy. I mean it that you're I don't even have enough. I don't even have enough adjectives at my command to describe all the things that happened that year. And there were things that you know things that happen that you just You knew couldn't happen. But did there were things that happened. That shouldn't have happened with the team about to win and did And then and then they still want. It just was I mean, it was just an unbelievable ride that first half of the season not so much for what they inserted to bow in the lineup, and I know I've said this before publicly. I think the staff the offensive staff in particular. Get a great great job because they went from Prototypical kind of offense with car Lord to Ah, lot of zone read stuff and they did it within. Ah, work week before they went to before they went Oakland, I think was the first game so Yeah, Just so many things happened that were improbable. They want a game at Arrowhead beat the chief there and the completed two balls, entire games. I mean, stuff like that Just doesn't you know, it just doesn't happen at almost any level of football, but it never Happens in the NFL except the West half of that year, and it happened more than once. Yeah, the the improbability of it all. I was on the outside watching wasn't in Denver at the time. And for me, it's just every week. It was like you tuned in to see what miracle was gonna have it. How would they pull this one out? And it was. It was a fascinating ride the watch even into that playoff game. As far as that goes, I'm struggling to find an equivalent to that today. I guess the equipment would be Kendall hit and cutting in and winning. Uh um. Yeah, I think I think in fairness to be kindled Kendall was a wide receiver. Tim was always was always a quarterback, right? So And I think they did a good job of playing to his skill set, but he could be. You know, he could be really cold early. He could be inaccurate. Um, And yet he always Sort of found a way to help get his team in position to win and in the clip that you played when I was on hold You know that that game and the Steelers were like an 8.5 point favorite. It was one of the biggest home dogs in NFL playoff history. And I don't think anybody gave Denver any Shot to win and you know they get into overtime. And I'm thinking, OK, Let's hope that the Broncos when the win the toss and differ, But it's so the Bronco's run on offense to open and I'm thinking, you know, they've struggled to move the ball. They moved it a little bit, but they started. The thing was the 20 yard line back in the day. And I certainly think that they've got to be able to run the ball into very least You've gotta be able to knock out 23 1st downs and punch this ball flip the field, otherwise, game's gonna be over. And so But I remember looking has always do is that as the team comes up the Lens commission they get set. I take a look quick look at what the safety is doing. I think that's probably from my playing days is wide receiver because you always has a receiver. I'm always looking at the safeties. Before the snap of them directly after the step, and as they're getting is the Tebow is getting in the cadence. You see, both safeties start to creep down. I'm thinking Also these safeties, they're going to come down on first down, so I know they're going to run. It s so this is gonna be a headache for somebody here and sure enough, and you can tell, I think with the inflection of my voice on the call. That when I described play past I said it in surprise way because I couldn't believe they were gonna play pass. And obviously Dick Lobo and the Steelers couldn't believe it either..
