"Wore in 2000, there was not one iota of scientific improvement in any of those moments. They are all. They're all the same. I get a bunch of tech saying. I'll take the over on the 7 out of ten, by the way. 7 out of ten what? Would think that you have it, I love me room. Really? Yeah, it's closer to ten out of ten. Yeah, and LeBron James. Mark is actually very humble, people. Yeah, I know that's hard to believe, but you actually are. This is just your on air bravado. Sure, you know, you turn on a mic and you get a little bit frisky. Yeah. Happens. Last night I thought about kadri. Have they suitably replaced him? Oh, no, that's why you keep saying they need to make something happen. They need to go out and get themselves a second line center. Or a top 6 forward that can instantly inject that juice, especially that second line. This is where and we talked about cadre leaving and becoming a first line player somewhere else. Is that really his role? Is he really? I mean, I know he's a great hockey player, but is he really a first line guy? Well, you would say, based on his experience in Calgary, as I like to say, because I'm channeling my inner Barry Melrose, you'd probably say that that probably they haven't probably gotten the production they wanted from a first line center that they paid a ton of money to. They brought back Jack Johnson, you would love to bring back Nas Cadbury, but you can 'cause you're taking on the contract, which you didn't want. In the first place. It's as simple as this for me. They have to go out and make a significant move for either a second line center or a top 6 impact Ford if they want to win the cup again. What they have right now is good enough to get back to the Stanley Cup finals. But if you want to win it again, they got to make a significant move. What did we know in the devil? What if they come back, they don't make a move, but Lana Scott comes back. Even if landy comes back, they need more if they're going to win the cup. Win the cup. It's as simple as this. I don't think the west is that daunting. I just, I ain't the west is going to be easier to get through this year than it was last year. So they went, what? 12 and two last year? You're talking about if they face Tampa again. Tampa, Boston, Caroline, whoever comes out of the east is going to be exponentially tougher than whoever they will face in the west. Much, much tougher. Would this be the fourth year in a row that lightning? And I would not discount them. I would not discount them at all. That's craziness. Craziness. I'll tell you. So we wait to see what happens between now and the trade deadline, which is coming up March 9th is when the deadline there. So if you want to react to anything that we just discussed here in what's going on on the Denver sports dot com front page hit us up on the Rommel saw dot com text line. 303-713-1043 and away we go, the combine is coming up this weekend. We were having a little back and forth, show prep, text, exchange yesterday, you, myself, and fever, fever thinks he's panicked about the Broncos offensive line, says it is by far the biggest red flag on this team. It's gonna really hurts his team next year and hold this team back to the point where any chance we have of Russell Wilson having a rebound year is just not going to happen because of this offensive line. You and I found this interesting because you have never hesitated to blame every single problem that the Broncos have on the offensive line, but yet you're not as worried. I'm not as worried because one bulls will come back. He'll be healthy. Now, we'll bowls ever reach the form that he reached in that 2020 COVID year, no. But bulls has proven himself to be a very good player. They'll get pushed back miners is going to miners needs to be coached. He's a division three player that theoretically got a division three coach last year coaching him. He needs to be coached. And I think if he gets that coaching, he'll advance. He'll become a better player. So you've got to address your right tackle. The biggest thing that scares me more than anything, Mike is the pure lack of depth and development. Like beyond the, I can't even tell you, sometimes they pull guys in off that they get to play and you're just like, who is this guy? So that part scares me a little bit. I do not think that they will hesitate to let Dalton risner leave. I just don't think there's enough production there. I don't think there's enough, there just hasn't been enough punch at that position in a production at that position. And I just don't think and with the injuries last year at the elbow, I just don't think you're going to pay top flight money to a middling guard. And I think that's what, let me ultimately, I think that's where he fits, honestly. I know he's a great soundbite and I know everybody loves him and that's awesome. But I think he's an I think he's an average player at that position. Okay, all right. Well, at a time where everybody seems to be down on Russell Wilson, he has an ally. And ally you would not suspect. And we'll talk to that Russell Wilson, ally coming up next. Editor at Denver sports dot com joins us now on the Johnson auto Plaza hotline and I'll give you credit. James, every time I think I can predict when you're going to zig, you zag. And your support of Russell Wilson kind of falls under that category. You wrote today that you think that the fixing of Russell Wilson is almost complete. Yeah, I do. That piece in the athletic last week got a lot of attention. And you know, a lot of people thought it was a hit piece on Russell Wilson or made him look bad. I didn't take it that way at all. Now obviously some of the things he tried to do last year, he shouldn't have done, right? He had the office upstairs, was he a coach or was he a player? You know, all the social media things, all the rest of that. But as I said at the start of my column, you know, he just got a little big for his britches as my grandma used to say. And we all do that at times. We bite off a little more than we can chew. We think we can take on something that maybe we shouldn't. And then we find out that, hey, that wasn't the right path, and you either stubbornly stick with it, or you're willing to change. And we've already seen that Russell Wilson is willing to change. At the end of last season, they asked them to step away from some of those things. He did. He was willing to do whatever Jerry Rosberg and Justin out and wanted him to do in the final two games of the season in a lost season. So talk about a guy who was willing to listen and willing to adapt. If you're willing to listen to those two, you'll certainly listen to Sean Payton, but the other parts of it just kind of reading between the lines, all of the negative things about Russell Wilson in that article. And there were a lot of them. They were all said by former coaches that were on that staff, the staff that allowed him to do that. Everything said by a former by a teammate, whether it's Jerry Judy, Kendall Hinton, latavius Murray, Dalton reisner, you name it, was a positive, and they weren't bothered by the things that he did. So I took it as, hey, shirtless in the things that Russell Wilson needs to change to be better in 2023. And you really can put a check mark next to almost every single one of them. I came away very encouraged. So what do you think about the hiring of Sean Payton that instantly rectifies these is that office taken away or all of his people out of the facility? What do you think is going to change for Russell Wilson? I think it starts with those things, which that had already taken place toward the end of the last year. I think he'll keep that in place. Sean Payton just isn't going to put up with the nonsense. Sean Payton isn't looking at it as he wants to be Russell Wilson's partner as Wilson told Peter king before last season. He's the boss, and sometimes you need to have the boss and you need to have the people underneath the boss who get that. Doesn't mean you can't collaborate. Doesn't mean you can't communicate. It doesn't mean you have to be a dictator, but at some point, push has to come to shove and a lot of the problems last year and Mark, you probably described this better than anybody, but when you would watch the film of their games, it was there was no cohesion. There was no plan. There was no identity. There was nothing. It was just this mishmash of what Russ liked to do in Seattle and what Hackett did in Green Bay and the most complicated offense ever, and it's just like, oh my gosh, this doesn't make any sense at all when you watch it, Sean Payton's gonna come in and know what he likes to do. Know what his quarterback is good at doing and go out and by and large run that on a weekly basis with tweaks here and there. And again, if you look at the last two games in the last season, look, Justin out in his no offensive genius, but he was pretty smart to just say, hey, let's run the football. Let's keep it simple. And let's let Russ make a few plays a game with his feet and lo and behold the offense was way better than it had been. The whole rest of the season. So I think Sean Payton is going to come in and do that to the n-th degree. The other part of it is, and it's a roundabout way. And I know this probably rubbed some people the wrong way because they don't like when somebody ends up getting their way. But Russell Wilson got the head coach he always wanted. That's what he wanted supposedly to replace Pete Carroll. In Seattle, it's the guy that prior to the Christmas Day debacle latavius Murray was texting saying, hey, rest and I want you to come to Denver. All right, well you got your guy and when you get your way, you can either get complacent, which I don't think Russell Wilson will do after last season, or you can bust your butt to make sure you make that guy happy and make that look like the right decision. I think that's the route we're going to see. Yeah. While you're mister positivity when it comes to Russell Wilson, you are classic James Maryland when it comes to Michael Malone. I'm not reading a tweet from you last night. This is James quote. This is a classic Michael Malone botched job. Win or lose, this kind of nonsense is going to be a problem in the playoffs ty lue has coached circles around hashtag Teflon Mike tonight. He did. He did. Now an overtime the nuggets were great and Jamal Murray and MPJ hit some big shots to bail him out and really KCP had a rebound late in the game that bailed him out too, but once again, I mean they blew a 16 point lead that should have been a laugher and instead it went into overtime, but Tyrone Tyra Lew came out with batum started batum in the second half because yoka should just eat and plumlee alive in the first half. Nuggets had no answer. Fourth quarter, it was go to Kawhi Leonard every single time, nuggets had no answer. Final possession, Kauai ends up guarding jokic. They have no answer and they don't have a timeout because Michael Mullen had called one so he could angrily the challenge a call, Fangio style that he had no possibility of winning that challenge. It's eye opening to, you know, I was fortunate enough last night. I'm sitting right behind the bench. You can watch Michael Malone and his ineptitude is just off the charts, and the guy is free of criticism. If you say anything negative about it, it's, well, hey, I guess, you know, being 7 or 5 and a half games up in the west isn't good enough. Last time I checked, you don't have a parade for being in first place on February 27th. So we shall see, but I thought last night was just a prime example of how Michael Malone is just in over his head. And he's getting bailed out by Nikola Jokić. He is, and look, this is a great player, but we'll see if he can, if he can do it in the playoffs when it's all about adjustments 'cause last night he had no answers. He runs the same thing and the same rotations at the same minute every single game no matter what. He never deviates from that plan. It's infuriating to watch, Mike. Well, I hate to, I hate to burden you with this, but if Michael Porter junior plays anywhere like he's played in February, consistently through the playoffs, game over man, game over. Nobody's stopping them in the west. They are tough to beat when he plays well in the best, the best thing about last night. I think his first 8 points were all at the rim. Michael Porter junior's biggest flaws. He falls in love with his jump shot. He's not a guy who loves physicality, so he'll often times he kind of turns into that guy at 24 hour fitness that just wants to stand beyond the arc. When he goes to the hoop and is a score instead of just a shooter, that guy is nearly impossible to stop and in his size at 6 11 and his ability to get to the rim. He is almost unguardable. So you're right when he's playing well, they are, they are extremely tough to beat. And look, I hope it turns into a Jared bednar situation. I do, 'cause I had doubts last year the bed nervous the right guy to get the abs beyond the second round. I think rightfully so, and he proved me wrong. I have doubts about Michael Malone in the playoffs. I think rightfully so, and you know what? If he proves me wrong, I'll be standing at the corner of, I don't know, 17th and larimer waving as the fire truck goes past and say I was wrong and I'll be happy to do it. But are they have to win a championship for you to no, I think if they get to the finals and they lose NBA finals. As long as you don't get swept, I think that's excusable. And I think there are two things that worry me in the west. It's the warriors being coming back and being healthy because we saw last year they can flip the switch in the playoffs and they're the same team. And if Durant ever does get healthy, which, you know, they're running out of time to get any cohesion in Phoenix, but that's a group that's got four really good players as well. That would be a tough matchup. But short of losing any of those four teams, it's completely inexcusable and it's time to move on and it's time to bring in someone else. Yeah, I think that's fair. I think Durant starts tonight, I believe. Tonight and tomorrow, I think he makes his debut for Phoenix. It'll be that will be fascinating to see. And what do they get 20 games roughly to try and get on the same page, but if you're just looking at that team and watching them against Milwaukee and I get it the Bucs didn't have Giannis, but just CP three's ability to continually get in the lane and get easy shots late in the game. But with him and Booker and ayton and Durant, that's a team that can certainly line up and go toe to toe with the nuggets. That would be a fantastic Western Conference Finals. The TV networks may hate it, but man, just in terms of basketball and match ups, that would be fascinating to watch. Phoenix plays next Wednesday. Oh, next one. Well, this Wednesday. Yeah. Place next Wednesday. Okay. Next, I'm not next. Wednesday. They play next on Wednesday. Yeah, you need to change I have

"To a map Patricia. You could go through Dennis island so many guys that haven't had success as head coaches, but have had incredible successes as either offensive or defensive coordinators. So I guess what I would ask a Broncos country. Hey, let's try to find a little middle ground here. Common ground and say, hey, let's not look advanced Joseph through the lens of what he was as a head coach. And let's be open minded to what he can do as a coordinator. Yes. Because they are vastly different. Okay, okay. One, two, three. Fourth down. Well, Sean Payton after getting all kinds of heat about what's taking so long. Don't you have a plan? You're bumbling, you're failing, you're just floundering when it comes to putting together a coaching staff. That quickly turned as a bunch of hires made in the last couple of days. How would you overall one word characterize this staff that he's put together? Experienced days put together an experience that. You know, fans Joseph experience. Who they hired to be a middle linebacker coach. It's been a defensive coordinator for the Chargers for the niners for the Washington for Washington. There's experience there. Did they hire Joe Lombardi? Yeah, yeah, Joe Lombardi experienced under Sean Payton and then obviously under Brandon staley with the Chargers. There's a bunch of experience on Mike west off. That dude is incredible, man. Experience. No nonsense. Hold players accountable. Good. Good. I like it. I like it after the gong show staff that was put together last year, which by the way did not come under nearly. Nearly the white hot intensity scrutiny that the chicken little crowd is put on Sean Payton, which is amazing to me. Where were you hard hitters? Last year when you were just lapping up. With joy and glee and giggles every time Nathaniel Hackett said, yay, football. Because they had inside information last year, everything was leaked out. Everybody knew everything felt like you were in. Now you're not in. Now you're on the outside. We don't even know who the mister candidate is. He's in, but we don't know who he is. It bothers you. Yeah, your panties in a wad. You're all chafee. I get it. I get it. You need some gold one. That'll do it for a four down territory. Coming up next. Big, deep dive on the Russell Wilson first year with the Broncos in the athletic and some really, really good nuggets coming out of it. We'll start sharing and breaking it down with you next. When you're a jet, you're a jet all the way from the sports station one O four three the van prisons, flare it then Evans. You're a family man. Never alone. Never disconnected. So this is a. West side? Yeah, is this a you reference this earlier? Yeah. Good job, Johnny. When you're a jet. You stay home hundred and J you stay a jet. Well, all right, Aaron Rodgers could be a jet. He emerged from his hut. We'll talk about that in what's trending coming up of it. The athletic put together a piece on a deep dive into Russell Wilson's first year with the Broncos. Okay. Written by, looks like Kaitlyn kaler Mike sando and Jason jenks. And it was about had 15 or so a little bit more than a dozen Bronco players and coaches, some speaking on the record some speaking on the condition of anonymity. So let's just kind of dive into this a little bit. So the big thing that's come out was, hey, Russ was given too much. Russ was given his own staff, Russ was given his own office and one of the things that came out that everyone loved about Sean Payton's introductory press conference was, yeah, that's not going to happen here. How much of an impact did it have? Just reading from the piece here. Wilson spoke with George Payne about the support staff he intended to employ apart from official team employees, including Jake heaps, his personal quarterback coach as well as a nutritionist and a physical therapist. Wilson explained why it was important to have a staff nearby, including inside Denver's facility, Payton discussed the arrangement with Hackett and signed off on it. One member of the coaching staff last year said, quote, no one else I have been around has ever been able to have those people in there, which, looking back on it, not a good idea. Several Bronco veteran players said they didn't mind Wilson having his own office, especially because the quarterback spent so much time, Kendall Hinton said, quote, he's got a whiteboard the sides of the wall and it's just littered with quotes and new play concepts. It was crazy to see his mind thrown out on the wall. Melvin Gordon said the TV and Wilson's office was always tuned to NFL network. It was just strictly football, anybody could go to his office and he was like, hey, if you want to learn extra plays, you want to go over this. You want to go over that. The coaches, one of the coaches said the coaches didn't like it because the office, Wilson's office was up on the second floor, quote the players were always on the first floor. They never really came up to the second floor. If you came up to the second floor as a player, it honestly wasn't a good thing because you're probably getting released. But one player said Wilson told teammates he had an open door policy to which another coach said quote, so you are a coach or are you a player? You're open door should be you sitting at your locker. Agreed. One, all right, so one, I don't know that there was a big stream of players going up to Russell Wilson's office. The bottom, the bottom line is there's a separation, or there should be a separation in an organization. Upstairs and downstairs. And you belong downstairs. You want to put stuff up in the quarterback room. There's a room. You study with the other quarterbacks. They shouldn't have to come up to you, and when you're studying, you know where you should be down there with them. And you should be putting that stuff together. You want to write quotes on grease pores on the walls of your quarterback room. So everybody can see it yes. The other thing is, you're putting up your own concepts? Here's some concepts I'd like to run that's not in this offense. Like really? You want to talk about circumventing the coaches authority? Well, funny you should say that because when Russ came here, one of the things you first told us was this guy is thorough, the moment that one game ends, he is immediately looking forward and he puts together these long scouting reports that he would hand a Pete Carroll and Pete Carroll would basically water them up and throw them away. Yeah, well, here you go. He was doing the same thing here. And from the piece in the athletic quote, one coach reviewed some of the Scott and reports Wilson and heaps handed out on Tuesdays. The reports were thorough, the coach said, but there were instances when he didn't agree with their evaluations. Another coach said heaps presents during the season created a, quote, conflict of influence. Who did Wilson listen to? Heaps, hack it? Quarterbacks coach Clinton kubiak? As one coach said, too many cooks. Yeah. 100%. You need to be able to eat.

"We got full lines. We're here till nine o'clock with you also hit us up. We're gonna be here talking about the Broncos talking about this big win opportunity for you to get on and sound off. How excited are you? Are you holding back some of the excitement just because it's the Giants and because you didn't necessarily feel as though the Broncos were playing up to one of the elite teams. Hit me up. Let's go next to Paul. Paul, you're up. Next one Broncos react with Ryan Edwards. What's going on, Paul? Hey, I You might have covered this before. I'm still working here, but I saw this last year and I think it's carrying through this year. Is there any way that the Broncos could hire West Walker to teach the people how to catch the ball and how to get open? What's Welker? I want to say he's with the Texans right now. I want to say he's actually has a job. Okay, well, somebody like him. Let's put it that way. Yeah, knows how to catch the ball and knows how to get open. No, no, I mean, he's a great route Runner. Thank you for the call, Paul. Yeah. I mean, that's certainly something for the Broncos that they got to continue to work on. I mean, I actually think that they're, uh, why? Receivers Coach Zach Zanny is one of the best in the league personally, but I'm Wes Welker is is definitely one of the top guys. I mean, you think about historically one of the best route runners in the game. Nobody ran those, uh Routes out of the slot like Welker, man, But there's something to that the Broncos. I mean, I'd say with Jerry Judy is one of the best route runners in the league. I think that you're seeing the improvements from Courtland. Sudden KJ Hamler is only got room to improve. We know it's in Patrick is as a route runner. They got some guys down there that they can find ways to get open. But Always room for improvement. John in Iowa coming up next year, and Broncos react what's going on, John Hey, Brian. Hey. Then first time caller calling from Iowa just wanted to ask you guys got on with Judy going down, Um, potentially out for an extended period of time. Probably go on IR. Uh, water. The Rockstar implications for Who he might had from the practice squad. Whether it's Williams or Cleveland or Kendall Hinton just want to get you guys starts on that and just also von Miller back what? We're kind of the vibes from the team. Um, knowing he was going to be playing this week. No great great points. Great question, John. Thank you So much for the call Three or 3713. 85 85, Right. So the next move, of course, would be Jerry Judy going on I R. Which is the expectation He's going to be out has been pointed out upwards of two months. And so now you do look at either Seth Williams or Tyrie, Cleveland or Kendall Hinton would be one of those three guys. That would probably get the next shot. Understanding something, though. It's about special teams more so than specifically replacing Jerry Judy. The expectations almost immediately are okay. We need more out of KJ Hamler. We need more out of maybe Albert Dock weapon on You're you're kind of going down The list of the next guy's up. Patrick, Of course, who's already stepped in to bigger roles. When Courtland Sutton specifically went down last year, That's kind of where I think that initially it'll all go. But, yeah, I mean, one of those wide receivers going to come in and play some major special teams snaps and might see the field so, but nobody is going to replace Jerry Judy. That's that's the kind of thing you don't really have that kind of receiver directly on the roster right now. So that's where it's like, well, the production of what he could be isn't immediately replaceable. But getting Courtland suddenly had one catch. Today. He's just scratching the surface. He could. We know he's capable of being a wide receiver one in this league, So let's just say those targets seven targets that went to Jerry Judy. Let's just say all of those go to Courtland Sutton in the next game. Hopefully, that means you don't have too much of a drop off. At the position. You know one thing That was a little bit interesting to me that I expected More of. I expected the running backs to be catching passes out of the backfield just a little bit more today than they were. Melvin Gordon had three catches on three targets, and Javonte Williams only had one catch on one target. So four catches four targets for the running backs. I certainly expected more of the 28 receptions that were out there. The 28 completions. I expected more to the running backs, which you saw The tight ends beat heavily involved is something we kind of predicted nine catches between the two tight ends. Sorry 10, including Eriks, Albert. 10 catches to your tightens. Your three tight ends more targets than of course, you got 18 there now for the remainder of running backs and wide receivers so tight ends really, or kind of the group that got the lion's share. Of what they decided to do, and it is a little bit of what we said might happen because of the strength of what the Giants have. We thought it was a possibility that that's the direction the Broncos go because the linebacking corps wasn't necessarily known for their speed. They're known for their tackling ability. They're known to be good against the run. That's a little bit of a mixed bag there, and that's where we thought the Broncos might have an opportunity to sort of attack. Let's go to Rusty Europe next year on Broncos react with Ryan Edwards. What's up, Rusty? Well, I have a couple of points first is the best thing about that clip paper played.

"About the Broncos quarterbacks and the Covid situation of last year. That was such a bizarre situation. Broncos fans remember that That was the New Orleans game when Kendall Hinton had to play quarterback and we all know I mean, no disrespect the Kindle. He did the best he could, but You know, I I blasted the league for forcing the Broncos to play given their quarterback situation, And we knew the story that the quarterbacks in their meeting room had taken off their monitors and evidently had been caught on video doing just that. Yeah, it was. It's kind of funny. In hindsight, I guess, but one of the quarterbacks the senior quarterback there, the veteran quarterback, I guess in the room suggested that, uh, because they couldn't hear each other. They were in the big room. They couldn't you know, they couldn't Sit there and swap notes and hear each other that they just put the contact tracers in the four corners of the room and then go sit together in the middle, and they got caught video go back, and, uh, they they went back on the video in the room, and they could see that they were there. They were dropping the corners of the traces off in the corner, So they called it surveillance video. No, it's not. It's the internal cameras in the room, so all teams happened. So they had the cameras in the room. Why would they think they could get away with that? I mean, I guess they didn't think anybody well to be get there would have been caught at all. If Jeff Driskel ahead and tested positive the next day, And then they were all close contacts because they're tracers had been in contact with each other when they walk in the room. So they wouldn't have gotten caught to begin. Not that that makes it okay. But they would have gotten caught to begin with the Driscoll head and tested positive on Wednesday. Interesting, right? So was the NFL like Roger Goodell and the NFL where they They set up some sort of surveillance plan. No, this is during Covid. Everybody's got those cameras. So that wasn't part of a league, right? No. All teams have. It's all no big brother thing going on here. But what happened is the Broncos sent in video part of the video, and it's the quarterbacks wearing the masks and, you know, I remember that, And they said that part of the video and, well a whistle blower. Turned around and said, That's not the whole story request more video. And when the league got more video that would act further, They could see that they had put the contact tracers in the quarters. And then Kendall Hinton makes the Hall of Fame. I never heard if they found the whistle blower or not, there will ever reported, But yeah, let's steer clear. That would do you know if they did I know who it was. Why don't you about that? No, I'm asking if the team found out. Yeah. Okay. All right, Um, first regular season game coming up. We'll actually Thursday so 48 hour today. Yeah. 48 hours from tonight with Tampa hosting. The Dallas Cowboys. Any any new information on Dak Prescott? Um, the shoulders still sore, but they're planning on let them go. They played on rolling him out there. It's going to be a heavy dose of Ezekiel Elliott. From what I understand. They've got two offensive linemen that are possibly out for this game's act, including Provo guard Zach Martin. Who's got Covid. Yep, so Dallas Dallas that offensive lines kind of in shambles. I figure it to be a run heavy game. Line on that game has moved from Tampa minus six to Tampa. Minus 10. I'm not sure where it's at right now is, uh, minus 10 this morning. I got lucky and got in on that one early. But speaking of that, Tom Brady, Uh he said that he had covid back in, like February That just came out. Yeah, I guess it was after the Super Bowl celebration or he caught it. During their Super Bowl celebration. They were all out on boats on the boat thing. Yeah, that's what he thought. His has There been more covid cases in the NFL here in 21 than there was in 20 before the vaccines even came out. I don't know. I don't think so. I think there's just a hyper focus on reporting it right now. A lot of this stuff happened last summer when there wasn't a mechanism to find out Now we know Von Miller and K. Jack had it last summer, but the mechanisms for finding out who had covid and who didn't It's a lot easier now than it was back then just because it was kind of the wild West with still adjusting to life with covid, so I don't know that there are more now There are more reported cases. It seems like so anecdotally. I guess that claim would be correct. But I don't have any hard data on that any any new information and Shawn Watson, it looks like the They're going to keep him on the active roster and then sitting each week, which would mean I think by league rules he would be entitled to his entire salary would and that's a handshake deal with him and his his people because he wants this is the last year the cheap deal on his contract in his extension kicks in. And so the the the Texans have kind of worked out a handshake deal for now that that's that's the situation. You just don't make any noise will keep Pina will keep you on the 53 Go from there and you get paid. Everybody wins. I can tell you. The Miami Dolphins offered a first rounder and a 2nd 1st record conditional pick that had the potential to be a first rounder, as well as another draft pick to try to get him a couple of weeks ago, the Texans turned that down flat. So that's where that stands. Miami is very interested in that The other teams have all kind of dropped off for this season, and the Texans from what I understand are looking at this is we can get more for him after the season, although at that point we're getting closer to adjudication on this thing, And I'm not sure that you can. I think a bird in the hand given the Miami offer would have been a smart move. Is, say, Kwan Barkley going to play in how much he is expected to play. He is expected to be a full girl for this game. And will they limit his snap? I don't think so. I think they're just going to. I think they're gonna run him until they can't. I mean, just take one, Barkley. You know you try to do that if they'll try it out during the game, And if it gets to a point where they can't and you know that they can turn to the backups, But their plan is to make him a full go. I can't imagine he would Play every snap. Probably They're probably rotation, but they play it on. They called it a full go. Okay. I talked to Art Stapleton, whose Giants beat reporter up there. Talk to him earlier today and they said he said he was full. He's a big He's a difference maker for this 100% healthy sake. One. Barkley is a wildly different animal than you know than the other running backs. They have no doubt you look at Daniel Daniel Jones record. As a starting quarterback Wednesday. Kwan Barkley place as opposed to what he doesn't. I mean, it is You look at the numbers in and say okay, that that can't be right. But But it's I mean, he's a Plus 2 to 1 wins over losses quarterback when Barclays on the field, and he's like one to like 3.5 wins two losses when he's not. Yeah, it's he is the day that people who tell you running backs don't matter, Boy, they get that one wrong. He's the engine that makes that thing go. Jones is a turnover machine. He has been a fumble machine interception machine, but his passing off play action when Szechwan Barkley is in there. Is close to topping the league. It's like top six in the league. When sequel Barclays in there, You see a young breakout player this year on either side of the ball for the Broncos. Well, I think nationally, Draymond Jones will become a household name. I think everybody here in Broncos country knows no sound. Good dream on is I think Nationally, he'll become a national name is here..

"He's the guy that you thought he was when you draft. Yes, To last thing. Schlereth is going to be on Greenie this morning at 11:30 A.m. Eastern, yet another slight for Cage's. He's on tape with us. He's live with. Great. I mean, one day I'll get over. Okay. I got to mention this is the only team I Wayne and always have J and key way in with our experts, But I covered the team for a long time. The Broncos haven't been to the playoffs in Super Bowl 50 that's paid. Manning's Walk von Miller the M V P the whole thing over Cam in the Carolina Panthers, right? We just completed Super Bowl 55. That was Super Bowl 50. These are the quarterbacks. That have started a game for the Denver Broncos since Peyton Manning retired, and this is why they're forever searching. Drew lock, in my opinion is just good enough. He's good, just good enough. And right now, when you've had mediocre quarterback play, you will take just good enough. Not enough for a franchise who's Super Bowl Championship quarterbacks have been John Elway and Peyton Manning just saying. Here we go. Ki Jae ready. You're the quarterback since Super Bowl 50. Trevor Sydney, no case Keenum threw lock Joe Flacco Mama. The return of Brock Osweiler. My mom, My mom never arrived. Paxton Lynch, believe it or not one game with Brandon Allen. Jeff Driskel, my mom. Mahatma, Mark, Mark, Mark Mark going and the last one. I'm gonna go to SportsCenter guy here, Sport Center guy. I know what you're thinking. It's the guy that went one for 13. When all the quarterbacks have the coronavirus, Kendall Hinton. But before you do, Ricky Not Kendall Hinton, because the first snap of that game where they had to play with no quarterbacks, was taken by Phillip Lindsay. So Phillip Lindsay will actually go down as the starting quarterback. In that game, just for the stickler respect. That's a very lovely that is for sure. So that's your quarterbacks in Denver, Elway manning Super Bowl Championships and that's what we have. And you can't keep starting over. You can't you just can't keep drafting the guy drafted? A guy drafted it if you don't get to Shana Watson Been great, but keep it makes it tough. Because when you look in that division, like all right, just to Herbert, Rising star Patrick Mahomes Wow. Okay. Derek Carr's serviceable Trulock. Ah, but no young man. This is only a second year, So he is a serviceable guy as he continues to grow as that team, get the guys back from injury. If you go out there and you get you draft another guy now what? You started all over. You can't keep if you get the shot watching great. But it is like 20 teams is trying to get to shine, including Denver Cream, Jackson's and Pretty strong and it last thing I would say Drew lock ended 2019 going for in one. So after even the quality of competition is not good. They expected him to take the lead on your foreign one end of the season. Got the thumb injury He had a couple years ago. You're looking good. And then where have I heard this before? It was a progress stopper, right? Use four on one. Let's take it to the next level. Full season will get you a couple of wideouts. Couple couple tight ends. Yep. Got to take the next step has been able to do it. Keyshawn jails even presented by progressive insurance. You could save big when you bundle your auto home. "Without a quarterback. The entire quarterback room had to be quarantined. Inserts the young cat who actually was on the practice squad as a wide receiver. Insert Kendall Hinton against the New Orleans Saints at the risk of sounding like a home or in this case, I'm just telling you what I think. I think this is Really bad decision by the leak. I think it goes against every bit of competitive integrity that this league has been built on for years and years and years. And I don't want to hear that. It's just one room, and if it's only one room, then nobody else is in danger. It's the quarterback room. It's just nonsensical to do with the league did check in snap rolls to his right sets up a screen pass and no fan has it. Fans got some room to run 35 40. He may have a first down, Aziz tumbled out of bounds into the northern sideline red at the sticks. There's the first completion of Kindle hidden size career. It goes for a first down on the screen pass set up to Noah Fant Malcolm Jenkins there for the Saints. I was disappointed on a couple levels in that our quarterbacks put us in this position. Added. Quarterbacks put the league in that position. You know, there's a third way kind of them to be the leaders of the team and leaders of the offense and those guys made a mistake. And that that is disappointing. Candle, you know, has some experience playing quarterback in college. So you know, that's about what our choices were..

"It's my own dot com Walking you up to Raiders versus Broncos the final game of the 2020 regular season and to help me preview that we head out to the stadium and power field of Mile high and check in with color analyst Rick Lewis. Rick as always, man. It's been fun this year chatting with you. How are you, sir? Yeah. Happy New Year Ryan. It's been great. I can't believe it's the final game of the season. It seemed to go buy a little fast, and it was a little weird on it was a roller coaster ride the whole way. But here we are, yes. So what would you say? Is your big takeaway from calling games during this year? Because again, you know, most people listening to the radio don't realize some of the hoops that we had to jump through. You know, Calling the road games off. The monitor was was a bit of a challenge early, but I think we all figured it out. After a game or maybe even two games on, um, I think looking back on the season. What I'll never forget is the no quarterback game. The game against the states when Kendall Hinton practice squad wide receiver was called upon to play quarterback in the National Football League, which then of course the NFL changed the rule right after that came because We all knew That was a big mistake. It was just not a good look for the NFL, but that's something that I'll definitely never forget. Certainly. Kendall Hinton Well, no, no question about it, guys. Let's talk a little about this game. Now. Both teams know that the outcome of this is is probably mostly about draft position because both teams are gonna miss the playoffs. But in your opinion, what else are we expecting to see? What else do you want to see them play for today? Well, it's kind of Ah, kid. Lose game here today, because if you do lose, you get better draft position, But both of these teams have had disappointing seasons, The Raiders have lost five out of six. After starting the season six and three. Denver's had probably the strangest football season I can remember, and we just talked about some of those things as well. Um, I think both of these teams will give a big effort here today. Gruden, who's not going anywhere appears to be on a bit of a warm feet to me. You know this team's no better than they were with their previous coach. On. They gave Jon Gruden a lot of money. Fangio is coming back, reportedly, his seat's been getting hotter as the season's gone on as well, Eh? So you wanna win today? I think you want to go into the season was just a better feeling. About 2021 football season coming up and you want to see if some of these young guys play here today and just to make sure that these guys are a part of your future, and one of them's the quarterback for the Denver Broncos, drew lock. Yeah, I think it still means a lot for him. Yeah, we'll talk about Drew here in just a minute. But I mean, listen for the Broncos. One of the key storylines this year is about turnovers right there. Dead last in the NFL by a lot in their turnover margin, So it would be would be great to see them play a clean football game today, And as you mentioned kind of going into the offseason, that would be something to build on. I'm both of these teams have a problem in that area Turnover margin Broncos 30 seconds and Raiders 26th in the league, and we keep waiting for the Broncos to play a complete game. In all three phases, especially on offense. And with all the injuries and their young quarterback, they have very little margin for error, and they've made things much, much tougher on themselves by not only turning the ball over but not being able to create turnovers on defense. I think most of all, everyone would feel a little better if Locke played well today on didn't turn the ball over and his Dave and I were talking earlier. I think it's important for Jerry Judy to bounce back here today. Makes him catches get his confidence back. 100%. Okay, So what do you want to see? Ultimately from Drew locking me, I think would be short selling it a little bit to say. Okay, less than four interceptions. Yeah, I think we're all on the same page about that. But, yeah, What's important for you to see for him is again as he heads into the offseason. You know, every rap I think it's important for Ju lock he just needs is much experience as he can get this season go through his progressions. Make good reads, Make good throws Take what the defense gives him kind of what we've been talking about all year long it be nice if you could not throw a pick today or fumble the football. I think he played pretty well. Last week, Ryan, and if not for the drops, they win that game. If Judy catches even one of the The drop passes that he had last week. They probably win the game in the coaches in front office seemed to think that Locke has what it takes so to his teammates. Ah, good game today might convince some fans as well. I think that's important for him. No 100% cut more here for you again. Rick Lewis joining me here from a power field of mile high as usually the case, and it's a little unfortunate cause you like to be ramping into the playoffs, but Since the Broncos are not give me a couple of developmental players, some younger guys that yet dry island today, offense and defense Well on offense, Graham Glass Go is questionable for the game today, and I'm no offensive line expert. You know, I play one on the radio. I like this. This rookie Tani Moody. Yeah, When you got a chance to start a couple weeks ago, he showed everyone including his teammates, that he's got a big upside and could be a big part of the future for the Denver Broncos. I'd like to see him get some wraps today continue his development. You can never have enough good offensive lineman on defense. I like what I've seen from Draymond Jones. I'd like to see him continue to progress. The guy's got five sacks in limited playing time. It is another guy who I think has a big upside. It should be in every down lineman next season, So those two guys are on my radar today. I'm interested to see Moody Man. He sure played well against Carolina and, you know, I think there's some people may be wondering if he could be worked in a little bit down the stretch, or maybe even into next year. Grand Grass. Graham Glass goes contract He's gonna be the guy, So that's not really the case, but it's good to have great death. Hey, Rick. Like I said, it's been a pleasure doing this all season long with you Happy New Year, My friend. Have a great call today saying to you, Ryan, it's always fun talking to you, and we'll do it again. Here. Starting what, nine months from now? Yes, sir. We'll look back back in the saddle. Sounds good. Rick Lewis, color analyst for Your Denver Broncos, joining me here. When we come back, we'll head back out to the stadium as voice the Broncos Dave Logan sits down with our insiders..

"Vince Quinn back in for J. R. Gonna be taking through the New year is gonna be a fun experience of you really go along for the ride. And we got a lot of stuff to talk about. We'll start with the NFL, because mine what a bomb of a statement. I don't know if you saw this today but massive deal J. C trader who is JC trader you might not know. But Jacey Treader is the president of the NFL Players Association, and he came out with just an absolute scorcher today. And so we're going to run through a little bit of what Jaycee Treader was talking about, and why this could change the NFL as we know it. We're talking about big time fundamental structural changes to how the NFL operates how the NFL calendar works. And Man, and here's where it starts. Okay. It starts with the idea. Of practice. Not a game. Not a game. Not a game. We're talking about practice. So here's the situation. You've got a guy that's the president of the Players Association. He's looking around the NFL. He goes, you know. Heard a lot about the worrying here when it comes to not having a preseason, not having many camps training camp being shortened the whole thing just being totally out of whack. There was all of this concern that Really, the games wouldn't be good. That's fair. I think we all had those conversations right. You figured at the very least cause I said, I know I I personally a bunch of times going into the season thought that September was just going to be the preseason Generally, September football is sloppy. So you figured OK, given the off season, it's going to be brutal. Well, what do you know? September football. It's pretty good. I had no idea. I mean, honestly, if you sat me down if you just without any knowledge of when the game was being played, what year was being played, and you showed me a game from week one this year. Wouldn't have any idea that something was wrong. Leading into the season. It looks smooth. They look good guys were making tackles. There weren't for example. You would see Slappy things that kind of things you worry about. Our alright guy has an option routes. So basically as he's going down the field, he's got a choice. Based on what the coverages To go one way or another. They have the option to choose which way to go. And as there in that moment, the quarterback needs to be on the same page is them is to wear that receiver is going to go and understand that and get him the ball where it needs to be. And you would expect a lot of interceptions that way. Things like that right, Ms Communications. I didn't see much of that early in the season. Nothing out. The ordinary, I guess is what's really important here. Nothing shocking. Nothing that made me roll my eyes. Nothing That made me say While this pandemic football is really worse than the football, I used to know I didn't feel any of that. I looked at this season and honestly. Outside of, you know Kendall Hinton for the Broncos, starting at quarterback all the sudden when he's a practice squad wide receiver outside of moments like that, I haven't really thought about the impact of co vid on the season. In terms of how prepared teams are. How prepared players are their ability to go and executed a professional level at a high quality mean the demand for the NFL. Above everything. That's the highest demand. Right, And it's the most watched sport one of the most watched things every single year. When you go through those rankings If those lists have been coming out over the past couple of weeks, it's NFL games. Every year Primetime games playoff games, the Super Bowl. They're the biggest watch things every single year, so everybody Is watching the NFL intently. I gotta tell you, I don't recall seeing a single thing written about the quality of the games. Tackling is sloppy teams aren't prepared. The coaches haven't really had a chance to implement the system. Right, like there's been a lot of theorizing about it, but once everything actually got going, it feels like that'll just disappeared. And so when you get the president off the Players association coming out in a statement and saying, basically were we never want to go back to this. Is the crux of his argument. You say? We don't want to have many camps in June. We don't think it does anything for us. We'd rather stay home and take care of ourselves and shop for training camp. Maybe not have a preseason and go play. And so I agree with him. I agree with him. I hadn't thought about this second, I started to read his statement. I'm going. Oh my God. He's got a great place. Just I was floored by. Sometimes that happens, right? You watch a good movie sometimes And it gets too like the last 20 minutes. And there's a big twist at the end. And you're like, Oh, my God. I didn't see that coming. But then you watch the movie again you go. Oh, of course this was going to happen. You know what I mean? Like, how did I not see this coming all along? It was so obvious. But once J C Treader lays down the law, and he's like, Look, nothing's different. Nothing's been worse. In fact, you could make the case that things are better this year. Scoring is been up..

Denver Broncos Forced To Play Practice-Squad Wide Receiver At Quarterback
