"You could still have ice cream. And you could be this great at 45 years. Let's you so you could admit Danny that he could, like have a small scoop of ice cream once a week. And based on his regiment, where he's you know, going to bed at 8 30 at night and getting like a full 8 to 9 hours of sleep every night. That's probably the biggest impact that he's having on his body is making sure that he's well rested and getting recuperating. Wouldn't you agree that that's probably the one regiment that he does not get off of that? As long as he sticks to that he can occasionally have a scoop of ice cream like I was talking to Kendall Gill, who's in like insane shape. How old is Kendall Gill? 40 50 50. He looks unreal. He's an awesome dude. Candle actually has been a boxer and he's been training people and Kendall said. Six days a week. I do not deviate, not even that much. But he said Sunday's We order pizza every Sunday Deep dish pizza, and I crush it that that's fine like that. He's 52 years old. Here's the thing. Right. So I have a podcast coming out. You could find the armchair, nutritious podcast on the app. Now it's on the ESPN Chicago after If you want to get healthier, fitter, it's there for you. Check it out. I've do a podcast on releasing next week with this guy named Dr Alan Goldhammer. We talked about sheet days if you're simply talking cap in terms of the way, Kendall Gill looks physically he's ripped. He's 52 years old is an amazing shape. You have to differentiate between the way you looks or we talking about eating this way, because you want to look good and your vein. Are we talking that you eat this way? Because you want to live the longest healthiest life. The majority of Americans spend the last 11 years of their life and miserable health. If that's what you're trying to avoid than a cheat day isn't the thing to do because that will accumulate in your body. Even though Kendall Gill's great for 56 days a week if we're talking about vanity, and the way he looks, that's great. If we're talking about long term health prognosis, you want to avoid the cheat days. You don't want to put the crap in your body ever. It's like it's like an alcoholic. Would you tell an alcoholic? Well, you're an alcoholic. You should stay away from drinks. But on Sunday, it's okay to have some beers. But you're telling me that if you took your family, I'm gonna pick New Orleans. Your wife says she dated. Let's go to north pandemics over all that. You fly down there and the kids go. Hey, we were reading online about these things called Banias. That's what they eat New Orleans. You would never even taste it. What I'm telling you is everybody's got to be different. And what works for me is not gonna work for you. Or for Kendall Gill right for me. I'm all about Mo mentum. It's easier for me to keep positive momentum. So if I don't eat the crap yesterday, it's easier for me to not eat the crap today. So I would not taste of India. I could go on with life without having a fried piece of dough covered in politics, sugar. I'm sure it's not going to make me black backflip. You know what I mean for you? If it's an experience that you want to have God bless you enjoy. You only live once. I just know myself and I will beat myself up from that point forward that I put that crap into my body and it wasn't worth it. Valid point, uh, prop bets, and that all goes back to Tom Brady. Right? It does. I was gonna say that you were saying about Tom Brady. Uh, Tom Brady is choosing. He said he read a book. And by the way, honey at break. I just bought you this book, so it'll be it'll be delivered from Amazon tomorrow. Oh, he said, leaving New England. He said A specially when he went through deflate gate, and all of that, he read a book called The Four Agreements. A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom, So I bought a copy for You. Thank you. So, he said there isn't a wrong word in that book. I take everything from it for the book The four main ingredients to help you find freedom, find freedom. True happiness and love are be impeccable with your word. Don't make assumptions always do your very best and do not take anything personally. And he said, it's the last one that has helped him since leaving the Patriots for the Buccaneers, he said, You'll avoid all your anger, Jealousy, envy will disappear. Even your sadness if you don't take what anyone says to you. Personally, That's not easy. It's easier for some than others because we're all built differently, right? We're all different. Where, where is that one science at all when it comes to personality in our world, and so I can understand. From Tom standpoint, someone who's under the microscope 24 7 when he's with the Patriots, now, with the Buccaneers, his lifestyle what's going on in his life? With his ex ex girlfriend and his wife. Now his family. That's gotta be hard to do. Think about this, captain. You're someone that's in the spotlight. And you're Tom Brady. Well, you're in sports. It's hard to avoid not seeing yourself on TV or turning on the radio and someone saying something disparaging about you one way or the other. Right. So it Zeke White, the Healthy balance that you've got a lead to understand. So I was gonna say something about you, but I can not necessarily allow people to get in under my skin. I guess it is the best way to say it for Tom Brady. All right, we will play. We'll get to more of your calls but shot or no shot. He's coming up. Next take Take capital G good mornings on ESPN 1000, Chicago's home for Sports..

The football drives his right leg through and the kickoff will go through the end zone for a touchback. And out comes the starting offense to the New Orleans Saints, led by the all time NFL leader in passing yards and completions. Drew Brees behind an offensive line of Terron Armstead, Andrews, Pete Eric McCoy, Cesar Ruiz and Ryan Ram. Check from left to right along the line. Jared Cook the starting tight and Michael Thomas is back along with Emmanuel Sanders at wide receiver. You'll hear the name Josh do a lot of the second tight end spot. Alvin Kamara is back and ready to go. Taysom Hill starts as well and he'll start in a slot to the right. Two receivers to either side. And on first down, it is not Camaro who starts But it's Latavius Murray, who gets the knot breeze to the sideline, and there is Michael Thomas, with the catch from the 25 Takes it on the right sideline. 29 where he's brought down by Kendall Gill door. Let's give it the starters for the Chicago Bears. Akeem Hicks, Brent Urban. The ends belong nickels in the middle of the three man defensive front. "I'm glad you brought up the secondary. Were you surprised? They didn't suffer more, especially without Jalen Johnson. I actually think they improved when screen is out, but Jalen Johnson being. I thought I thought cousins would would carve them up a little bit. No, no. And you know what was really great. I mean, this is not my words. This is like we just talked to Chuck Pagano and obviously talk to Matt Nagy yesterday and some the defensive guys. Those two guys will door and Shelly really tackled well, and I think Chuck Pagano went out of his way again to bring up a play in particular from last Sunday. Remember the Vikings first offensive, Syria's Jess and had third long They gave the ball. The Dalvin cook, and he had a lot of daylight, and he almost made a first down with Kendall Gill Door came up and made a terrific open field tackle, got him by the ankles and got him down. That was a big play that kind of set the tone a little bit defensively for them early on s O. They were very happy with both those guys. So I think if Jalen Johnson were to be unavailable again this weekend, I think you could certainly navigate your way past Jacksonville. But it goes back to my point. If the Packers air come into play in week, 17 Haven't we haven't gotten that far yet to figure out kind of where they're at with everything in that regard, but I still just don't believe they're going to come here and just rest everybody. It just wouldn't It wouldn't be really on brand for Aaron Rodgers for to allow that to happen. But if it s so if he's going to play in week, 17 Think Jalen Johnson has proven a lot as a rookie. You would rather have him out there then Ville door just based on the experience factor Do Shelly someone that's waited a couple of years. Always paid his goose. He's been up and down, bounced around a little bit, but he did a good job as well. Also making some big tackles in the open field. So again, I think you do want both Those guys. The frontline guys back out there. I have nothing else. They're learning that they do have some pretty encouraging death at that position. Running out of time. I want to ask you the question. I asked before you came on the air and your perfect guide ass because you've been around the team for years and years. I mean, if if you were to ask me what's been confusing about the Cubs these last three years I do on for an hour. You know, since since having the success they had 15 16 17. So whether it be big picture or small picture. What's the thing that if I asked you to explain it, you would say, I don't get it either. I don't understand it so so. Based on everything that's going on with the Bears. What What's most confusing to you, Jesse? I can't believe they lost six in a row. Okay, the NFL. Okay. The NFL is a parody driven league. The NFL is almost designed right for you not to lose six in a row. Unless you're really bad unless you're the Jets or Jacksonville. Okay, right. Clearly rebuild like that. Why rebuild teams that are just rudderless than a right or just, you know, gold float along. The Bears are not They're not rudderless. I mean, they've had They have a lot of highly paid players. There should have been a few more probable people probably doesn't matter. They're playing video games this year, Just as I've been a probable stupid but Like a real Kwan Smith, right like that's a Pro Bowl caliber player I thought should have been recognized. You could always say Akeem Hicks is a probable caliber player. Kyle Fuller's good Trivedi thing is good. You know they've got Khalil Mack Cordero Patterson. Ellen Robinson is having another pretty respectable year. So my point is, how did they lose six in a row? Did they lose six in a row and that and that, you know, that's hard to explain, and that will be hard to explain away. If it turns out that they don't make the playoffs because I mean Jess to get the five and one Then to be in this situation on Christmas Eve, where you're seven and seven and your genial you have a chance to make it. They certainly do. Odds are not in their favor. They'll make it they could go. If they don't How do you explain that? How do you say Hey, look, You know what? We're on the right path here, but you lost six in a row in a league that's designed for you not to lose six in a row. That's the answer that I have today. Yeah, it's it's a good point. You're right. Just by just by chance. You should win one or two of those and being a better position even if they were winning ugly to get 25 and one Um, to to see them lose six in a row was was kind of surprising, Jeff have a great holiday. You have two more weeks of this, and then we'll see way will. We will see you. Listen, I'll make you one. Promise. I think the bear season will be over by the time you report to spring training, If if, in fact you are regretting separating. I don't know that travel. It's all been grounded here. Yeah, that could be April. For all we know. Alright, man, take care. Thank you Take care of just all right. That's Jeff Dickerson here on ESPN. 1000 good stuff there. Yeah. How did they lose six and roaming. They win five out of six. I guess you could turn it around and look at it that way because they weren't playing that great, especially on offense. But 60 for you know, Okay, team is tough, usually just win one. By chance. He's right. The NFL's designed You're a knave Ridge team. You're looking this penalty kicks. You know that the Bangles and you look at the Jets and the inside like the Bears were Plane ton of tough teams during that six game stretch. I mean, the lions come on, all right to going to start to wrap things up here if you have a final thought 3123323776 About anything you've heard on the show today..

"History. Have you been following up on the news on that now? I will say this I do have a problem. With Confederate monuments in the public square. Okay, that have a problem with I'm listening. Go on, because those guys your trainers and losers and loss Now you want to put him in a museum with historical context. That's fine. But but the Jefferson Davis memorial when whatever, no stay wherever That have a problem with, but I think we are in agreement that the government should make That decision should not be pulling people pulling down statues and hit him with their shoes. This's not Saddam Hussein and is at 2003. But the other side of that, as we have seen people who were truly American heroes who truly did a lot for this country, including people like Grant Who won the civil war without him. It doesn't happen. George Washington etcetera that have seen their statues to face 10 destroyed that you have a big problem because that to me is a sign of ignorance. Because it is yes to George Washington Slaves. Yes, He did, however, in the aggregate off everything that he did. I think George Washington's actually kind of okay. And that is I bring this up because Bloomberg has a story saying that Princeton is removing Woodrow Wilson. He was 28th president for those of you keeping track at home of public policy, its name from his public policy school in one of its residential colleges. After trustees concluded racist thinking and policies made him an inappropriate namesake, the one that really got me and this this, will you this What was this about? Causes Klux Klan Letter Heavy road. Didn't he show? What was the movie? The big Birth of a nation birth of a nation. Didn't he show it at the White House? I think the BBC screened the film, which remind people that's kind of what they did at the time. I mean, that's that's it. I mean, I can't get mad at people for doing what people would normally and this is a problem with judging things 101 150 years ago through our standards. Today. That is my problem, because obviously, for example, the Honeymooners when Ralph Kramden Alice's knock you to the movie, uh, you know that's kind of domestic violence, but it's still ah, pretty good. And we heard We played a clip last week from Robert Johnson, who's the founder of Black Entertainment, Television, Super successful dude. And he said, Look, the idea that you're trying to race Dukes of Hazard of The Beverly Hillbillies from from the lexicon of of History is ridiculous, because ah lot of African American people watch those shows and enjoyed them, actually being ready to write a column on ancient mama. The rial back to know the rial. Ah, Ancient mama and it is not. It is totally different than this whole stereotype thing because it's comes to me. It's kind of ridiculous. That agent was being taken off of pancakes because somebody has a problem with with with their image, just like okay. First of all, she's not the one with the handkerchief under heads anymore. So what is your problem? Rob Kendall Gill came shabbas and for the chicks, not to mention Uncle Band and Mrs Butterworth to get started on them. So we will be able to find that indie politics dot org's Yeah, later this week. The thing that really gets me about this, I call it fake outrage now because Of your Princeton through the most educated people in the entire country. You've known good, bad, indifferent. Who? Woodrow Wilson Wass. He's been He's been dead and probably close to 100 years. At this point. I don't know exactly when he passed away. But you've known exactly who he was. The one that got me was in Cincinnati. The University of since a couple of universities in the Cincinnati area have things named after Marge Schott because her trust gave them money. And all of a sudden we're taking, I think was a baseball field and some others call world We're just outraging and we're taking the Everyone knew who? Marge Schott Wass. You wanted her bribe money. You took it because money is the most important thing you don't get to now. Act like Oh, we're so woke were so aware. No. You know, you made a financial transaction. You took the money and now you're going to use your not giving the money back. You still took the money from her. But you're just taking your name. This is pathetic. Yeah, that That is my problem. With what the big giant cancel culture. It is like, okay, this is ridiculous. It's like the one group of no generation Z or millennials that found out that Robert Downey Jr started movie Tropic Thunder. You played the black eye, just like what is this? Like We need to be cancelled This like that's like, 20 years ago. What do you talking and we've talked about this numerous times on many different topics, but it certainly applies here. We're just doing things to say we've done them. It's not increasing educational opportunities for people who need it. It's not improving infrastructure in communities that need it. It's not teaching people job skills who needed to give them a leg up. This isn't helping anyone erasing people from the American story. It was you who were presidents, right? I mean, the guy was a president. It's not helping anyone. You're just going just wiping your hands and going. Look, I did something were woke. We tried. You did you know it's like I said, Number one. It's ridiculous. Number one and number two once again when you erase history, do you really learn from it? And that is an interesting thing that we've talked about here on on this show is our audience. That was my great great grandfather, William Beak and the Civil War. A hero. I call him a hero. I don't I don't know if he's actually here, but he was in the civil War for the union. And you know, in Indiana, there were people which is where he lived. There were people who probably didn't view the side that he was fighting on was the right side. You know? Thankfully, he On the right side is history would judge that But you don't agree. Cohabitate go live with those people again. You had to build bridges of people who hated your guts. You may have been involved in battles that the result of them losing a loved one. We all had to come back together and and build bridges and when we just started racing everything from history as you, said Abdul, I think it's a very dangerous thing that that in the long term is going to be very harmful exactly. And by the way, Speaking of civil War I was named after My dad, who seemed after his great great grandfather, who was introducing was John Wallis Ah, who was born a slave. But Wass basically free when slavery was open time Slavery was over 18 65. And so he has the slavery Street credit. Nick said he was born a slave but never had to do any slave work. So things of dual Khun say, so I think it was kind of funny and ironic that I was named after that particular. Ancestor's Rob What.

"Just the season overall. I had this conversation with Kenny Anderson. Recently the corona virus stopping the season. The only thing I can think of is the lockout in the main Stoppage were guys are not necessarily in riverine every day. The guys may be different. How did you get through that during the lockout credit? Well here's here's the thing that was different in during the lockout and now during the Komo's Kuroda buyers in the during the lockout we still have an opportunity to go to a gym and works out. Now there are no gym's open There's no practice facilities open So unless you one of those guys that have gym in their house then you know you're not getting any basketball work in so your skill. The somewhat being diminished. While you're sitting in the house you you probably have an opportunity to work out because most got have equipment in their house and here in Chicago. We do have the opportunity to go outside and and run if you want to as long as you keep a good distance away from everybody But that's pretty much you know all you can do with the guys that are dealing with this epidemic right now back then. When he goes to the gym we could do whatever we wanted to and still work on our basketball skills but right now that's why you know. Hopefully this will get everything over to where we can resume the season. However I don't think he's GonNa be that way. I think that the I think the season is going to be cancelled. Unfortunately because I just don't see how now you can bring the players back you you probably would have to have a one to two week training camp in order to get everybody reacclimated To what they were About six weeks ago when all of this does happen. And you know I. It's just GONNA be tough to do You know and it's just unfortunate circumstance that we're in you met the net for the ninety eight playoff. That was led the team in assists. And I remember that team for those who are listening John Calipari with the head coach at Sam Cosell every kid will keep in Horrid Jason William Sherman. Douglas Chris Gatling all guys when it payment. You play the Chicago Bulls in the first round. Was it a surreal experience? You had to go you being from the Chicago area having to go Michael Jordan. No no it wouldn't because see the thing the thing with me I. I didn't suffer for the Mike Tyson for you. Remember how Mike. Tyson used have his opponents before they got to stadium. Mike Michael Scottie. And all they had a lot of guys before they even walk into the United Center. Okay I wasn't one of those guys so I relish plan against them and You know it was a good experience. You can tell the difference between the regular season and playoffs because they were a whole lot more intense than they were on a regular season especially in game two because we we we went into overtime game on in this series and they did not want to give us any hope at all so they came out really tough then game to how we still play well a game to. Unfortunately you know we. We got swept all three in this series but you know it was a good experience. You know like playing against world champions but you know it wasn't wasn't the real thing though the Michael Jordan rescue the Chicago Bulls documentary begins. Espn I'm pretty soon And it was the ninety eight fees and The chronicle are your mind Guarding god-like Scotty Scott Royal Michael Ninety Eight What was the difference in that championship team in ninety versus seventy ten season Old Back. Then were there differences between the two teams from your vantage point. I didn't think that that would too many differences. I I think that they were basically the same team The thing would though they knew that This was the last I believe that was the last time they want to be together so I think that was a bit more seriousness because the writing on the wall will Jackson was not gonNA come back in this thing Jerry Krause lovely wanted to start over and go into another direction. What reason I still don't know why you would wanna go dynasty but I think the seriousness of the moment was different because new highs the last time we doing this. And this is the end of an Era. And they were. They were right You almost became alerts later From remember thinking the nets. Offi what you want and you're GonNa take your talents to Los Angeles and you ended up coming back We heard that you weren't getting you were seeking and what was your mindset when you had the opportunity lay up with Kobe Bryant and Shaquille. Well I I wanted to be a Laker and actually I regret the decision that I mean I had. I had to do it all over again. I would have been. I would choose going to Los Angeles Lakers. There's there's a reason because one I would've won championships multiple championships in two. You're looked upon differently after you know your playing days as champion as opposed to somebody who has not won one. I had a great time in New Jersey You know made friends with the organization David I live in New York City and form lifelong friendships. But you know it would have been different. Had I chosen in Los Angeles Lakers? And you know the Lakers offer me a two year deal for five and a half million dollars okay. So at the last minute. Jersey Nets came in and gave me a deal for seven million dollars for one season. Now is the time I was like. I gotTa make a business decision business decision as you take a bird and a ham rather than two in the Bush because the Los Angeles Lakers told me. Listen we'll take care of after this contract is over but you know sometimes teams changing my. You never know you know. So I I made a business decision and I took the money And you know it was. It was a good business decision but legacy wise. I should've chosen Los Los Angeles like 'cause I already. I already done what I need a New Jersey. You know in in the season after when I came back ended up hurting my knee and I was out for the whole season anyway so Like I said that would have been something else if I could obtain. Koby and Shit you have the jurisdiction to speak to this late Larry. Johnson Charlotte You clave with Short Patterson Seattle. You played against Charles Barkley. Okay Charles and the beginning of the season I said to him. Listen Zong are Williamson reminds me. He says no he says Shawn Kemp other people say Sheri- Some people have said Larry Johnson who does Dianne Williamson play like He doesn't play like any one of those guys but he has the same body type. Characteristically of Larry Johnson being sick seven Now he's about thirty. Five pounds. Heavier Hilarie was but you. It was extraordinary athletes. Okay but Zion these Once in a lifetime athletes the way that he can jump and everything I think there's one Zion develops he's GonNa be you know there'll be commandment anybo- you know. Hopefully and I believe. Hopefully he'll lose weight. I think you need to lose about twenty five thirty pounds. So he's not susceptible to injury the way that he plays jumping up crazy now. Explosives is but I think he's not be his own man. You know You know Larry Johnson was the best player I ever play with Pre back injury. If he had not hurt his back I think he will go down as one of the greatest powerful all time I think Zion could get if he stays healthy the first time that you saw grossly basketball when he was a beasley elementary school when he was a great. I saw You know and he was. You could tell that he was going to be something special on. Derek is my favorite player in NBA. Right now I think that you know he's got a raw deal from a lot of media Also fans here in Chicago when when he left he didn't ask he wants to be as a cargo busa life and then he goes on this journey to the New York Knicks. And you know I understand why things didn't work out for me. Only averaging three points a game for the Knicks being the third option and everybody says that he's done I understand that and then he goes to Cleveland and has to play a backup role.

"Well, it's been a busy time in the NBA the finals are over, but we got news already over the weekend. The big eighty to LA trade. Of course, the draft is just two days away. We'll have fantastic coverage Thursday night. When Waddle and Silvy are done. Chris black, our very own Chris black man. Our producer who's also a host on this radio station. We'll be with Jonathan hood, live at the advocate center from six until whenever they'll go until the night wraps. John Paxson will certainly join the guys live at some point from the advocates center. So they'll be on for many, many hours, breaking down at the NBA draft. Don't miss it coming up this Thursday to you by Joe school and distinctive gold jewellery and Frankfurt. And look at this big time, Chris, make sure you get those sponsors in Chris should be the one telling me that not you. Randy. He's doing the show jumping though, it's fine. Hey limited commercial interruption throughout the show. So we have sponsorship. It's all about the thanks. The jewel Osco. Joel osco. And what else you got there? Special. That's right. You'd better get the waddling Carson deal shock watch. Right. I love it. All right. And to talk draft to talk bowls. Some NBA our buddy, Kendall Gill, you see him breaking down on NBC sports, Chicago. He joins Carmen in Europe. Go now on ESPN one thousand and ESPN Chicago dot com, eight KENDALL. How, how are you doing great? How you doing very well, by the way, I like the list that you released on social media about the toughest covers in your career. And you were a good defensive player. You had the, the prototypical sort of NBA bodyguard, guard multiple players, MJ, not number one on the list, not mood up Douro. Chris Jackson, number one. Why was he so difficult to cover? Difficult to cover because you couldn't you couldn't even read his all on social media when I was playing the first is you've been very again. Me too. About. Well, what about is that he'd already scored added even know it? It was a blur. I couldn't figure man and then you don't do the game vide- found out. He had twenty eight point nine minutes to go and see Bondo. And I was my bed, quote me. Court in college basketball. And you know, he was giving us the business man. It was the same way in opposed to his all just like you know, you got I'm boxing fanatic. It was like. Many, many from all different angles that you can't see his that's the way my moves offenses. Yeah. Can you describe how difficult it would be to play defense today in terms of just straight up man to man defense from the physical standpoint compared to the air in which you played where you guys were still allowed to kind of hand shack, and maybe get a forearm into a guy a little bit more. The the, you know, certainly much more lax when you played. Let me tell you. It would be very difficult. Because back in my day, we could put a hand on, you know, to even up everything now you can't even put a hand on guys. Guys out learning guys travel, I Dane pardon. And I don't care what they say they all together that's a travel. I'm a I'm a I'm a basketball purist Mets actually messing with the integrity of the game. I think they need to really take a look at that in the rules committee and change it because it gives not only can you not touch the guys now. But now you letting them travel, you're giving the guys extra advantage. You know what I listen? I think the James harden is, is a very talented offensive player. But how talented would he be if they didn't let him do what he does on the court on the offense? Kendall Gill is our guests Carmen in your own ESPN one thousand checkout Kendall's list, who is really good. He put it up on Facebook. You can follow on Twitter at Kendal, g thirteen Jackson MJ Grant Hill. Reggie Miller, Koby Vince Carter. Reggie Lewis Iverson magic, and Mark Price often tastic players. Let's talk about the draft a little bit, and what the bulls might need what they might do. I mean it sounds like they could be. And they are very interested in potentially moving up for one of the point guards KENDALL. I don't know how closely you follow all these guys what you've seen. But is there? Player out there that the bowl should, you know, if they've targeted somebody that they really like should they be moving up in the draft. And a couple of nights to go get a point guard. Well, you know, I think with the trade of Anthony Davis to the pelicans. I mean to their Los Angeles Lakers from the pelicans that, that really has put to the pelicans in a position to probably draft a guy like Jerry Kolba de'andre hunter. I think that either dairy is gone or Kobe white will fall to the bull, that number seven I don't think it'd be necessarily need to move up the number four position in order to get one of those guys. So, you know, if I was gone, I was staying Pat and wait to one of those guys, my preference would be various darling. Because I think that he similar to what John Morand is. But I think the are going to take him so that leaves us with Kobe Kobe white, so, you know, and I'm happy with Toby. I think he did a great job. And he's bigger than most people thought he was six foot five. I didn't know that he was tall position. Yes. He's a score but he does the -bility to make plays on the offense event. And as far as getting the basketball to teammates. That's what the bulls need at this point. Position, gobi. I gotta take them. How convinced are you on Zion Williamson and his star potential at the NBA level? Oh, very convinced. You know, I like it into a guy that I played with Larry Johnson, who but he was more athletic. And Larry Johnson. I can jump Larry believe Larry jump, but not like van Williams. Upside is very good. He can handle the basketball displayed a high basketball like to do along with athleticism. Once again, once he gets his jump shot down. I guess we'll be unstoppable not only thing that I worry about two hundred eighty five pounds. And the way that he jumps in his explosiveness. Is he susceptible to injury? That's the only thing I worry about with him. With Cam reddish in other one of the Duke guys who kind of had an up and down season. And I and I guess there are some questions, maybe about the motor in the work ethic. But if he can. I suppose if you could just find a way to really motivate himself, what do you think about his prospects at the next level, because from an athletic standpoint, all the evaluators seem to really like him. Yeah. With myself. I mean I, I really liked his athleticism. I actually rated him. Hi. I think that the pro game when you step up to four games is going to translate much better for Cam readies RJ bad, because money all shot. Yeah. He has a streak jump shot, but he has, but would work that can become a consistent jump shot. He has great explosiveness to the rim. No, let's not forget, you know, we really don't really know what he can do, because he was overshadowed by Zion. Williamson RJ Beranek still, you know, had he been on a meditation, maybe could have displayed more skills. We don't know. But I really do like is upset. I one of the bowls shaping up to be here mean they've got some nice young players. Do they have the star the superstar that they need to really compete in these? Zach LeVine Zach showed great way potentially offensive in the season. I mean he did a great job as around twenty two twenty three points a game. And I told that gives the only thing now that you need to take to the next level, it could do it on the defensive into you. Jimmy Butler Klay Thompson, guys like that guy that can really score the basketball, if they can also beat up to do in, as well mixed up. Zach levine. I really like Lori marketed. But like backs ability to take the basketball and take over a game and make his own shot, whenever he is ready. So I think that that, you know the bulls, as far as young talent is star they young team in the league. And then nobody telling now they needed that one piece, if I'm able to draft a Kobe white, then I gotta go out, and I gotta get a veteran point. Guards gloom as well. I think you need to veteran guys come off the bench the team that could contend in the playoffs next season. And he chance to Derrick comes back as a veteran point guard. I'm hoping that, I play, you know, the guy the guys over decision. Give me all hell, because I want there to come back and listen. The gal average about eighteen nineteen points a game in twenty minutes. A game coming off the bench. Just imagine what he can do coming back home to Chicago. Do you think he'd be okay with that role here in Chicago KENDALL? Yeah. He's, he's okay with it. I mean he's he's gone away for three seasons now. He's grown up a little bit outside of home. Sometimes you have to go away in order to mature. I don't think he's trying to beat the MVP aired rose anymore, but he still has that ability to be an MVP on one given night, even catch lightning in a bottle with him. Maybe once a month ago in, you know, a lot of people do what about the injuries. Well as long as he can play sixty young, right? Ready for the playoffs? Yeah, I'm okay with their sitting out, low manning and things like that long as you can go back to what Zach LeVine is he's been living there roses still in me. It doesn't matter what we say, though, the media matters, what those guys on the court day because they see it. I mean, they may also see the still has what did you think of the AD to LA stuff? I mean is that make the Lakers the favorite in your mind? Yeah, it does. And you know, there's rumors that day they will be talking to Kimball walk off the urban. You'll have enough cats faces to, to stand one of those guys, I think now with Klay Thompson to be out of whole season. Kevin Durant going to be at all. All season. Most still is a great player. He ain't gonna be able to be those guys with and Klay Thompson. So I think that you will see Los Angeles Lakers in the championship against perhaps, the Toronto Raptors, if Kawhi Leonard decides statements, do you think he's gonna stay? I don't see how you leave that. I know it would be it would be really weird. If you go to a team like the LA clippers when you can vie for two or three more championships. Yeah. Club that you're with them. And the Toronto the city of Toronto loves him and embraces and, you know, if he doesn't stay, I'm, I'm gonna say, guys, you don't really care about championships anymore wants to do. Ladies. That's enough. I always so confident he thinks I'll win it anywhere. I go, I don't know. He's something man act KENDALL g thirteen on Twitter, make sure you follow him. I mean, you know, listen, he didn't achieve great heights, that, that Iverson daddy wasn't quite the volume shooter and score that Iverson would go on to be Iverson was one of the all-time great scorers in the history of the league. But I mean like just ball in the open court, just speed. He had a man. I mean he was an absolute blur three one two three three two three seven seven six. "I heard Joe Madden earlier this week. Somewhere. I remember where. Said we told Kyle Schwab this year too. Hitter. Don't be power. You. Another one think like a hitter not like a home run hitter would think. I don't know if they think differently. But. He's having a terrific spring. You know what he's doing? He's walking. Okay. He's hitting a fifty five. So usually at one hundred points is a good on base getting one walk out of every ten or whatever. So that'd be his on base is six twenty five. Joe Madden also said Schwab in my mind, he's not a number six hundred he's number three hitter. The first time I've ever heard that. White sox. Three run Homer. Second year. Couple hits for a couple of hits from a couple hits for Geier is the right handed extra outfielder that your match up against lefties Air Liquide note of the bulls before we get to bears talk on the bulls now after another laws they've lost six out of seven maybe seven out of eight don't worry tank time looking good. The bulls. Are now just a game and a half behind place. Cleveland in the upside down up a world of Tanka. Dan, bulls five and a half from New York and Cleveland force. So the bulls only have to pick up a game and a half to get the third rank spot. Oh and last night. Did you hear about it probably weren't up? I watched most of it. So you didn't have to watch any of it. The two coaches got thrown out. Did you see or hear about it yet? So the bulls are up six at the half then at sixty five sixty five and a third quarter before you know, they're down twenty. But in the second quarter, clippers one of their guys that are moving screen and blindsided. Archie. Were they moving shoulder. Not just you know, moving his feet moving screen. They do that thing where they lay their shoulder on you. Okay. Archie never came back. That that was enough to upset Boylan did not blow. So he talked that arrested. Halftime. Then about a minute to go in the third quarter. They do it again, the clippers set a moving screen. And this time they throw the shoulder into check shake Harrison. He goes down in a heap blow, the whistle, but Boylan, I guess he'd had enough. I've had enough of this. So he's yelling at the rest. And he evidently starts yelling a little bit over it. The opposing coach Doc Rivers. Well that doesn't take kindly. They're yelling back and forth. They're going back and forth and the rest TM both up say stop it the double team up again, they both get ojected. Never seen that before both coaches. That's where all the announcers were saying KENDALL Kendall Gill after the game. He said, well, you know, what you gotta Lopez has to come out there with the other big. And you know, yell out Scranton careful. So here's the thing. Never move on from this. We'll get to the bears. But here's the thing. The NBA condones the NBA doesn't stop it the referees. Let these guys not just do moving screens. But where they actually shoulder you and not Yan your ass, and occasionally they'll blow the whistle. But they don't stop it. So what happens is if the rents don't call it then players have to try to police it and the coach. So the coach has to get in there and say, well, you know, what you're not gonna guys over the league's not going to stop at the ref doesn't stop it. What am I supposed to do? But here KENDALL dill who's the best. After the game says he's about Lopez just as much to blame. He's gotta be out there by the other big and yell out. You know, whatever they yell screen. Let's talk a little bears..

I mean, you know, I I don't I don't pay too much attention to to really what what is it pain is or what he says. I just wanted to play basketball. Listen, he's lucky. He's in a place that they have story. Okay. He he could be not in the playoffs right now. You know what I'm saying? So you know, you should be lucky. He's playing with the Golden State Warriors a chance to win the championship. I wouldn't be complaining about much of anything. If I was on the Golden State Warriors right about now, you want to hear from me KENDALL. I'm on a championship team. You would hear anything for me? He's. About cousins is that you know, he he's he's a terrific player. But similar to Kevin Durant in that regard. He's a brooding superstar man, you're not in Sacramento anymore. You have a chance to win a championship. Who cares what they're writing about you? But but but for Draymond green and for Kevin Durant and for DeMarcus cousins all day are drama, magnets. So they are all into it. And they really shouldn't be. Yeah. I mean, why why make a comment on it? That tells me that you really like the stories that they create, you know, you don't pay any pitch and it goes away. So why even say anything about it? But you know, that's that's DeMarcus cousins and somewhat Kevin Durant as well. Andrey migraine, so I give you Golden State or the field, you go going with Golden State this year or do you have a team that's close? No, I don't have a team that's close. I think the Golden State has another one two years. At this level where nobody will beat them. You know, they beat the Houston Rockets last night by two without Kevin Durant. You know in the Houston Rockets were fully loaded. It's you know, it's a stupid joke. My act about no Jews being the NBA never heard commentators say Rosenbaum for three winds. Line for two free throws, you know, how he loves those stupid, but I really wanted to. But you guys all keep doing it. But good I was in high school was a good high school player. That's me, by the way, zoom in on the hands. If you can I went to. I went to prominent fifth grade with NBA star Kendall Gill. He was a supersonic such a tender the Sonics this picture, my mom, and is she was so great, right? This is probably maybe four months after my folks split, and she's like we need to get out of that house. And I was like we should go to a basketball game. That's something we both love, and we go there. And I went down early to court. I want to get this close. I can get a picture. Kennel was nice take a picture look as a kid. So I I wanted to play like, obviously, but sixth grade peaked and then high school good. But once you get past high school, you know, it was like pushing six one shot the three really, well, like, you know, set some records at high school, and whatever, but you got to be a big if you're six one, and you're in high school, you gotta have in mazing ball handling skills. You got to probably be able to if you're going to make that jump. You know, what you are you going to sex one shouldn't threes now? Yeah. Yeah. Now, you go twenty four I finished. You get tired after ten minutes. It would probably wasn't going to work out. There is an element of like, I experienced it, my younger, celebrity, whatever all star games, whatever. Which is like you're not that old. You're you were good in high school baseball, or whatever your sport is the celebrity baseball game. And everyone else is sort of screwing around and you're like, I'm I'm going to put some meat would on the fat on that ball. Like, I'm going to. I'm. I'm going to I'm going for power hair. This was Zach lean after the game talking about the Jabari Parker in his brief and weird six months as a Chicago bull suck. Teams. You talk automa- starts. He didn't get the the. The way he wanted to come here in Chicago. Fair apparently stick on that one. But man, fair end of the stick. You didn't get the tough when you're not getting a fair into the stack. Definitely want the fairer end of the stick. I think I mean, look Jabari I don't quite get what what happened here either. I mean, I don't know what they thought they were getting everything told you everything all you to do is watched your Bari and look at the metrics. And it would tell you that drives down a good defensive player. He doesn't have much interest in playing defense, but he can score. I want to do what what did you think you were getting when you went out and signed Jabari, and why did the plan changed so quickly and so frequently so I guess that's exactly means hinting at that. And maybe this is a bigger issue thing in a big picture thing is too wide. There's a certain perception about the organization from the outside around the NBA. When guys likes xactly means say that, you know, he didn't really it didn't happen the way he wanted. And he didn't get the, however he termed at the end of the stick some of that Sandra Bari because they obviously wasn't a player that for whatever reason they thought they were getting he establishes non willingness to play defense early. Getting always kind of knew that. Yeah. I know. But he let everybody reminded everybody that if somebody thought he was going to play defense. He was definitely not buying into any defence structure whatsoever. The Senate at the press conference. I think didn't. Yes, I'm not here to play defense. I mean. Campaigning. Crystal clear, I mean, that's plain day. I dunno whatever you thought he might might get them to buy into some sort of defensive theory. But it ends up being a worse. Look for the organization. I think than it does for Jabari. You knew what he was. And you still decided to go on and give him twenty million dollars or whatever they gave him. And I don't know what you thought you were getting. But then you quickly made him a bench player, and then he was back in the starting lineup, and then he was on the bench altogether. And then all of a sudden he was back in because you had to see if you can trade them for something which eventually they did. I mean, at least they got something out of it again is not a bad basketball player and away from Beal and wall dominate the ball..

"Two three three two three seven seven six Kendall Gill is gonna join us in a few minutes. Talk about the bulls trade in the NBA trade deadline. Jeff passan will join us coming up at one o'clock to talk about rules changes in baseball. And when and if Bryce are gonna sign we have some Stephen a sound of play from Waddle and Silvy yesterday, very good. Kevin Durant upset after the blow over the Spurs last night. I just like socks out. He went all Donald Trump on the media last night. Is that what he did? Like examine said, I'm just asking legs said. You don't wanna be asked questions about all the time. Don't send one year deal. That's it period. And I'm not telling you, I'm not telling you what to do Kevin drink and do whatever he wants. But then don't be upset about it. They'll be disgruntled cab because it keeps coming up, but he's a salty dog. You always has been he didn't, you know? Hey, listen. What what are we gonna do without a porter jR? What are we doing? Lead me, and I'm gonna have you at the top of the hour at one o'clock after we talked to Jeff passan. I'd like to do our our top five auto. I wouldn't mind that acts. Yeah. Not Ardo like car. I know. I wanna talk autos. We can do our top five autos. Jim Otto, Otto Graham, there's a whole bunch autos out there car, we're going on. And why not why are we gonna do that sometime during the week? We will start thinking thinking caps on kids. And if you've got five you'll like go ahead and tweet them to us, right? Yes. Start Twitter handles carm- Carmen Falco and at your co sixty four year cohort substantiate. Yes, Otto porter is not a bad basketball player by any stretch of the magic is actually pretty good. He's a three ND guy. I heard you say that earlier know what the hell it meant. I mean, does he come at me in three dimensions is what I was thinking is that. He's long he plays. Good defence forty forty percent career three point shooter. That's what he is. But he's not a bad player. He's just grossly overpaid. Well, that doesn't make difference to me whatever you paid your pay that's negotiated in your contract. The the bulls knew what they were going to get when they got him. They knew how much they were going to have to pay him. So it doesn't make a difference. Whether you overpaid or not don't make this team better. Yeah. I do not make this team better. I hope that doesn't happen because you're tracking for one of those top three picks percent chance to get in the first round or the first pick in the first round. That's what I'm looking at. You. See Kendall Gill breaking down pre and post that NBC sports Chicago with Mark Szumowski in the crew. He is at KENDALL g thirteen on Twitter and joins.

"Jonathan hood on ESPN one thousand of the espionage. Hit me up on Snapchat, Snapchat, hood, also Instagram. I g j hood turn to a friend of the program. Fifteen year NBA veteran also analyst for NBC sports, Chicago for the Chicago Bulls. It is Kendall Gill and he's with me Jonathan hood on ESPN one thousand and the espionage KENDALL. You know? How's it going, man? The league. Well, I'll tell you. It's just the league KENDALL this. This is interesting. You talk so much about the NBA just the on the on the court, but you know, the off the court and the drama as tach the NBA in the culture of it is so interesting to me, I don't know how you feel about it. But I just think the inner workings along with the basketball itself. It's all just one interesting sport for me. Yeah. It is. Because one you there's not as many players is like. NFL team. Spaces. You get to interact with them. Is probably gonna social media. You'll have soap operas like the Jimmy Butler soap operas at the beginning of the season with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Davis. What was going on with LeBron James? I totally get what you're saying about. How interesting it is not only on the court off the court as well. It is. It is compelling. I I wanna ask you about the latest story though, and get your initial reaction to the Kristaps Porzingis thing so present uses agent is his brother and for the last couple of years presented says hinted that you know, maybe he wants out. I remember I was telling the story that there was a year or two ago that was supposed to be there for his exit meeting with with Steve mills and and Phil Jackson. He just didn't show. I don't know what the disconnect with him and the Knicks are, but when you heard that he wanted out, and then he was traded to the Mavericks today. What was your reaction? Surprised because not want to be there for a while knowing missing that exit meeting really told the tale of what was going on with him in the organization. You know, I thought that he was going to be a big star in New York. You know, the fan base loved him. There was a definite MVP candidate in an all star. So, you know, I think he might have given them also the Nixon ultimatum trade news or I'll continue to sit out. Maybe that's what happened because you normally don't see a player that injured get treated like that normally comes back a little bit of Trump work everything out. And then they trade him. Working out after that. I don't understand like you have no leverage though in this spot. Right. I mean, if this is you, and you see you and your agent trying to work this out, you have an ACL, and I guess you're just trying to prove to Dallas that you can play. So you can get the max, but isn't Kristaps even with the injury. He's going to get something close to the max. Right. Because in this case as a restricted free agent is he not trying to bet on himself. He's betting on himself. You know? But if I was trying to get the money. I would have stayed with the because they already know what you can do. In practice day after day. You would you have a great before the ACS? Now, it seems like he's gonna have to go on audition again in order to get the maximum money. We all know that he's gonna get paid. But will he get much as we could have gotten Kendall Gill would Jonathan hood on ESPN one thousand and the SPN apt house will be able to offer presents a five year deal. One hundred fifty eight point one million when he becomes a restricted free agent this off season, assuming this trade happens, and it has gone down because it's official now. Is. So is he going to be with Dallas for the long haul? Because now look now I'm at the roster. We know that Dirk is on the you know, definitely on the back nine maybe a year left. And now it's about Donncha, which is can you see presents being there for the long haul is that the destination? He want to be at. I don't know whether we wanted to, but I could see him for the long teaming up with Don in Dallas organization is a great organization. The fan base is great. I think those two complete off each other great, you know, still, you know, he may have let in the body wants to be in. Because I definitely know they didn't want to be New York. What was the what is what was the perception of the Knicks when you played in a reason why I'm asking you that question is because you see what the Knicks have done here. They've opened up so much cap space. It's about this under seventy one million dollars a cap space. Now that they move presents us off the books. But what's what was the perception of the Knicks when you played, and what do you think it is now? People love to play for the Knicks. We wanted to play for the Knicks. So New York was the destination spot, you know, number one market in the country. Now, nobody really wants to go there. You know, the former team that I played for my. Brooklyn that now I believe that that franchises more attractive to free agents rather than New York Knicks. And and you know, I never thought. Do you? Remember your first game at the garden. Oh, yeah. I remember. On play the playoff series against the New York Knicks. They're. It was great. That's a story building. I love playing there. And I mean, there's a reason why the most famous. Alina? The world. You know, when you go in there. Yeah. It it. It's something. So I guess the the big question KENDALL is so what can we expect this off season? You're right. This is not New York has not been a destination for a long time. And they always talk about the the attraction of being your plan your mask regarding the world's most famous arena, but the team has been bad for so long. The organization has has been bereft of quality in there for quite a long time. So I'm wondering do you have you heard what I've heard that? There are some free agents. They'll be available here in the off season. You know, the names are are a parent. You know, the Kevin Durant. The quiet Leonard's the Kyrie irvings Kemba Walker. There's a number of guys that might look at New York and say, you know, what we set up shop here at their cap room. We like the coach we like Steve mills is that do you think that some of these tough range will look at you look at New York and say, you know, what we can stop shop here. Yeah. I think there's definitely a possibility. I think Kevin Durant is a possibility. Ervin Kemba Walker. Of course from that area. So there are a lot of possibilities. I would love to see that happen because I wanna see parity. Already in the league. You know? I I don't think it is parodying by now because you have five all sounds really missed online. Nobody's going to beat them. You know, I like to see Kevin Durant perhaps go to New York Jimmy Butler. Go to New York. And now we get to look forward to seeing who's really the best in the NBA or the west because I think if if you could any one of those players that I mentioned those things that I mentioned on the New York Knicks. You know, you now you have something that really competitive. Then also I wanna see. Kevin Durant noted. He wants he championships ways. But really does he feel like a champion? Because basically what he did he went. They wouldn't put a turbocharged Ferrari has four hundred forty five horsepower. So it's not really fair, you know, area the day. You know, we'll Kevin Durant championships. Really? Measure up to the all time. Great once he retires. If he does not leave Golden State championships. Don't because he went and joined the team that really good to win championships. I think he needs to win one outside a Golden State in order to really say, okay. This is a two blue. And maybe maybe New York is that spot for him. I don't know. He's a he's a brooding superstar. I love Kevin Durant. But he doesn't understand. I love him. He doesn't get it. Because he's he's always pissed. I don't I don't get it, man. He's a rebel without a call. You know, I don't want to be James Dean back. Yeah. I was on the TV or the south side. There's no question. So so I wanna get your your thoughts on the philosophy of the NBA say ten years ago versus now when you look at today's NBA KENDALL is today's NBA based on some of these successful organisations about. The development of young players or is it about trying to get as good and as fast as fast as possible for us free agency. I think is trying to get as good as fast as possible. With. You know, the young players. Is he? I'm really quick. A lot of. Look at the Chicago Bulls. Okay. Okay. We got a lot of young players on the team. But really a lot of schools school enough. And it's not long for the holy. A lot of them. Don't stay in school enough where they don't when they come out. Yeah. You know, they you razzle adad with offense of and. But a lot of most of them don't really know how to play the game. They don't even really know how to run a fast break because I don't know how to help all. In help on the defense on the correct way don't know rotation. And that's why free agency is the way to go because you get players that can really play. I'm gonna tell you one guy. We just a quiet Wayne Selden June. Yeah. Yeah. Really Klay because he understands the game twenty point eight we down you should just look at the way that he runs the fast break you get properly. Properly. That's why that's why you try to build your team with trees because a lot of ways if you if you continue to collect young, jazz and everything. You know, sometimes you gotta be you always be two years away from being two years away because they really don't know how to play. Nobody stays in college three or four years now to really get the fundamental again. Right. You just can't be behind the times in that regard. I think that as you see teams and general managers and owners going to clutch sports are going to certain places trying to figure out who's the next superstar. We can get Stanton necessarily Zion. RJ not not not in the near future. It's really about the long long view who can you get right now that can help me right now. So that way I can have sustained success, and I don't I don't see that enough which icago, I guess. Yeah. I mean, I agree with you for for a lot of NBA teams. That the case I think with the bull that that is the way that they're going to build in the future. You know? Right now, keeping your young please, you know, because in three or four years. They wanna know how close you know, they're gonna be going to understand the different nuances of the game. But until then. I don't think to really see a huge job with the bulls unless they go after require a major free agent. Yeah. That at something. Oh, I got to ask you about the Anthony Davis because Davis wants to be wants to be traded. And again, we talked about this last couple of nights about clutch sports and his involvement with that. You could just tell that there's a link there between him wanting out and possibly playing with the Lakers. What was your your thoughts on a D? I new this is going to happen..

Let's get back to the show. Don't forget those movies dot com. Yeah. Cacak? All right. We're back. Great job. Everybody was very nice. Name tags selecting session, but Jacob of course, went back and forth because. Someone had money on their name tag. And you took that on instinct was it was it was genetic. Yeah. There was a guy in the front row with a really crappy name tag. But he said, but he had a twenty dollar Bill joint. And I was like I took it then I felt guilty also to Nettie, and I decided the best into was to take somebody who really put an effort, and I took the joint. I bet the twenty but I feel like that's fair for wasting my time I would've smoked joint outside afterwards. Anyway, but I'm glad you gave him the twenty back. Yeah. For sure I mean, it was tempting, but you know, I got like, okay. So what I decided Katie bird lady bird? She looks like she did an original kind of mixed media thing is that you a picture of you. Yeah. And it's a great job. And they're really great job. So sweet on that one is joint on this as well. So worked out for everybody. And I love the movie lady bird added you lady bird great. How did you end up with your name tag MO and who's on? Well, it's Steph brothers. Now. It's a picture of you as the John C Reilly character next will Farrell and step brothers and mine was on a complicated system of I like sour patch kids. And that was on this. So I chose this one. And also, I like reese's peanut thing. So I got that too. Yeah. No. It's got a lot of good candy on their good job Steph go so Steph brothers. Brought to you by Steph brothers. Yeah. I got I got sick as we got Twix Milky Way. This is a beautiful well done movie poster with ample snacks that hang down like dangling ball sacks. And that's why I chose it. And these people look amazing, I'm fired up. All right. An atom after much deliberation. Chose the guy sitting right in front of him. Here's my impression of Shaquille O'Neal. It's a good one though. It's it's I like it. It's a nice one. This is a good one. It's a classic to we got. Pat on the hot tin roof. Look like. Face right there over Elizabeth Burton in her.
