"What's up everybody. It's the orange. Black insider bengals podcast coming at you. Once again the big wednesday night show on anthony. he's john we've had a jam packed and will continue to have a jam packed week as we get closer to week one of the regular season. I hope you're all doing well. John what's going on in We've had a lot of a lot of fun stuff. Come out this week and more to come of stuff so far out of stuff plan. But that's the nature of late august when you do in a football show things ramping up. Training camp is ramping up. Preseason is winding down was lots of talk about. What's going to happen in the next few days here with the bengals gotta lot on tap tonight for this show. We're going to recap the loss to the washington football team. We're going to play this. This newer little game. We've been playing the last few weeks. Believe it or not to talk about some topics and see whether or not we believe the hype and or panic surrounding certain headlines with the cincinnati bengals. We're gonna pit preview a position group. We're gonna start wrapping nat series up and We've got a a small sound bite of the weekend. Obviously another preseason game to talk about the finale against miami. So we're gonna get to all of that. We're going to try and cram it into our maybe earlier if we can but we'll see we sometimes trying to go along but We're going to turn out to go super long. We hope you've enjoyed what we've been putting out this week so far by the way in case you haven't seen we did a better late than never a analysis of the week two game so go check that out a brief episode. We did the water cooler chat earlier. Today we released in interview. We briefly teased it once. And then we kinda tease you. A little bit more about it with definitely is still so go check out that interview really really cool that we were able to talk to both of them and then of course we've got the show tonight and friday listener questions live. We're going to be joined by jake. Klis cow and on dangled the all angles website and john. That's going to be following. Jay has been trying to get on the show for a while. And i feel like i've been leading on to get him on the show but we just haven't been able to do it. It's weird because you know they do. I guess their own little bengals podcast. If you guys have ever heard of disaster definitely support them because they need all the sport they can gather deftly behind us in the ratings one. Not but you know the scott his own schedule as james but it's nice to combine the two guys across the Right before the season to preview of the season is gonna recap the preseason and kind of interesting question so that should be allowed front on friday. Yeah that'd be a lot of with. We're going to do that at three eastern on friday and then we're going to also try probably after we gotta get with the rest of the guys on this junk channel but try and get a a conglomeration show with with ace zam and matt and the two of us and kind of talk about what's going on as we go to the regular season with cincinnati bengals. So we're we're going to be doing a lot. I also want to say this. I know we've got a lot to get to john yield You're able to cash out and divvy out the money to the foundation. The ken anderson alliance and the ken riley foundation. Unfortunately we received some not great news. This week about kanter sending ken riley regarding the hall of fame. But i just want to personally thank all of our listeners. All the cincy jungle readers because we well surpassed our goal. What did we get to john about. Twenty two twenty three hundred dollars or something that was divvied out evenly amongst those three charities which is awesome twenty two Hundred dollars twenty to forty six two thousand two hundred forty six so i just added. We added just four Four dollars to make it an even twenty to fifty so seven hundred and fifty dollars was distributed to all three charities. The payments are confirmed. They have left the go fund. We actually did get an email from Nolan j henson who is a committee member for the rally foundation. Rewound email us said. I would like to acknowledge your contribution to the ken. Riley foundation co Inc your generous donation will go a long way toward assisting a student attend attending college or technical school since. No money's used a pay committee members one hundred percent of your donation will go towards assisting a student and as we did for all three of these like we cover the cost of the fees for for whatever like bank takes out of the so one hundred percent of all your guests. Proceeds are contributing to these great causes. And we've got some recognition there too. So thank you guys so much for being a part of that making it a resounding success. It's going to impact a lot of people's lives. Who definitely need it. That's awesome we do. Have i have not forgotten. We do have giveaway. As for some of the donors we need to settle all of all of the donations. Close that up and then obviously get the money to the respective charities but we'll be announcing some winners of surprises there. Thank you so much everybody for donating wanted to acknowledge that had not had the chance to do so this week but wanted to acknowledge everybody who contributed their so. Thanks for that. John thanks for spearheading the the go fund me portion of that and getting those donations out. I appreciate that personally as well. Let's just start getting distant bengals staff as well though because there's a lot to get to his. We've mentioned the bengals went to washington and it was a sloppy game. It was there. Were some good things to take away from it. Bengals lou seventeen thirteen. I think john is i. It's kind of a reason why i waited a couple of days to do a quote unquote post game analysis. It's because when. When i watched the game i was like. Wow this is pretty ugly then you kind of take a step back and you see some of the pf data you kinda review some of the the film in certain players and whatnot. Things looked a little better than they did. Kind of watching that game. Live at least for me What were your impressions. We're gonna talk to march as when you're talking about a lot of players are obviously that that were part of that that loss but What were your overall impressions. Now that you've had almost a week to digest second. It was the quintessential preseason game. I think they played washington. The last time there was a preseason it was doing haskins is like first game or something new that washington too and i remember that game being pretty ugly too. But it's it's a sloppy that there's not a lot of production moving the ball a lot of punts in that kind of comes with the territory of preseason but it's also a reminder of what the preseason is about it's not evaluating the overall team success in the team productions about these individual evaluations and sometimes that goes into evaluating position groups as a whole and honestly even though the bengals lost seventeen to thirteen. They didn't have a lot of offensive success for most of the game. Outside of kinda towards the game with a run. Blocking improved and chris evans jobless patrick going again. The offensive line. I in second-string looks very good against the defense line. That's is deep and talented as washington's is an even without joseph aside off in his first ever. Preseason game was still pretty decent to i think. Dj readers specifically has maybe russell like six or eight times in two preseason games the as three press russillo coupla quarterback. It's so ease looking like a brand new player himself. The irbe first team looks pretty energetic. Tricks i guess didn't have as much success against washington's offensive line as they did against tampa bay's but i think both of those units are the main storylines right now. That was those were the unions that got the majority of the emphasis in the offseason in terms of what needs to be improved the most of the investments in free agency in the draft. And right now..

And i'm gonna put this link. I know i've asked for donations for the past couple of weeks. Now were only leaving this active for a couple more days here so i want to have one final push. We've raised twelve hundred dollars as we speak and we. We had a goal of twenty twenty one kind of a lofty goal in. I'm very proud of our listeners. And proud of since jungle readers who have donated to this cause to help give that money to those three charities. Wanna try and really reach that goal if we can. Thank you everyone for your support and go check out. Their shows to there are pretty fun talking to all three of those folks about the ring of honor the twenty twenty one bengals and all kinds of different stuff. So we've got a lot to get to start to kind of start with the weekend stuff. things we saw. Maybe you know talking fell wised hall of fame game and all that kind of stuff. Obviously some some recent rumblings of practice is mentioned. The bengals are currently practicing. We take the air right now and some other news and notes. Now there's bits of good news in. There's bits of bad news that we're going to be sharing with you. Most of it is actually pretty positive and other parts of it. Maybe not so much but a lot of different things. We're gonna go through especially as it pertains to the bengals there. Some news and notes with the afc north. We gotta get to and then of course the rest of the nfl. We're gonna get to all of that if you are new here. This is the water cooler chat. This show goes over headlines. We go into a tiny bit of analysis on all those headlines around the league. Mostly on centering on the cincinnati. Bengals we go through a lot of different stuff but then we are wednesday deep dive show. We do listen to questions. Live on friday so we try and bring you stuff between our show matt. Mimics chuck talk and or is the new black by ason zim on the jungle podcast channel. Well let's let's start with it and we will start with what's been going on over the weekend with the cincinnati bengals. We always start with cincinnati bengals. And that's start again. Of course we're going to go through that then the afc north and then of course the rest of the nfl while let's recap this on cincy. Jungle dot com. I'll coffee pace this for you folks as well This is on since younger On recapping the sunday practice. Now there's been a lot of talk about where joe borough is doing isn't doing in practices and not so much participation wise but Some certain things where he is. There was a report by paul dana junior in the middle of last week where there is maybe a look of tentativeness by joe borough in that knee injury. There was some other Some other concerns missing missing balls and just a lack of reporter. Though a lot of the videos we've seen shows a lot of good plays by t higgins by auden tate by by march chasing. So it's a little bit of a little bit of a mishmash guess of conflicting information. But the good news is joe borough after hearing all this chatter and we will kind of scroll through this because there's a lot of tweets on this on this poster but after this is what was encouraging to me after hearing for basically the better part of a week joe borough wasn't wasn't doing well was maybe struggling with some things. The offense was struggling with some things. The offense was behind the defense by the way. If you listen to anthony windows when he joined us last week he talked about how. That's kind of a normal thing. That's a frequent thing that happens during training camp so he wasn't overly worried about it..

It was obvious that he was going to be the first to go in. If not the second with all brown. But i mean it comes on every year and it's it's the same anthony menus regardless of the state of the team regardless of anything he has gone on. He's always very generous with his time in terms of ambassadors for the team. Like this chad johnson. In my opinion. There's there's anthony means. He's someone that everyone knows his reputation. Yeah yeah let's let's talk a little symbol for those who do not know. Would you educate us on the world that symbol. sim b. u. l. l. right so symbol. If you guys have still been living under whatever rocket you preside stock market for sports that allows view trade sports teams just like stocks. It really is that simple. Every team in the nfl the nba the mlb and just starting last month college. Football has a symbol price attached to it in those prices. Move based on you. Guys users occurrence Thinks sim bengals prices. Still in the fifty five dollars range is just under the kansas city chiefs for the top of the nfl market. But really it. is that simple. It's a simple process. You guys know which teams are good which teams are bad which teams are going to get better in. Symbol allows you to leverage that knowledge make a decent profit off of it in the long term. It is a long term investment. Type game it's not necessarily ambling but it isn't that same realm of fantasy sports. Really putting your money where your mouth is really or your mouse. In this case. I liked that elect that. If you were there we'd love to see some pictures and videos and whatnot but thousands and thousands of people on hand for that practice. The first one that fans were able to attend since twenty nineteen first training camp that fans practice that fans were able to attend since before the pandemic and they came out in droves really cool site bunch support for the cincinnati. Bengals as you saw pictures within the stadium as they were practising you could see. I mean it was almost it was almost as full as a An end of the year game when the bengals out of the playoffs. "We've got some weapons. The why office of line gets wide. Give us the mobile time. We're gonna score. Some points is like he's got three curtis is out there now. burrows asked Today like i in person press conference about does he plan on like maybe changing or adapting his playing style to kinda reacclimated himself from the injury and he basically shut down saying. I'm just gonna play the way i play like. That's the only way. I know how football to me is is when you get hit. It's kinda like it's the overall experience with it is that something that like fans and analysts. Ab don't quite understand like it's hard to really change your plane style especially as a quarterback after you come back from a long injury or is it something that maybe he is more capable doing because he's so young in his career. No i think you know what was on job. Were last year before he got hurt. He's the real deal. He's got what it takes. We don't need him to change the way that he plays in the biggest hurdle for him is overcoming with confidence that your knee is going to hold up and just from practicing every day from playing a few. Preseason games developed competence. But i i have no doubt that opening day. He's going to be ready to go talking with ken anderson. A member of the bangles inaugural ring of honor class. One of the best bengals of all time. Happy to have him with us before we we hear a little bit more about your foundation. Can you gotta you gotta quick record prediction about for the bengals issue. I always like to ask. I don't know why. I hate to go to talk about records. You know. I think what we want to see is improvement. And you know never grow up in losses. And i don't want to put a number of on. But i you know i think that they're gonna substantially better and you know unfortunately we're pretty puck. Division on baltimore is very would read. One is a football team. You never count pittsburgh steelers out how them rothlisberger is gonna be a temporary. Even but i think you'll be able to tell by the plenty on the field whether we're going right direction. And i got a lot of pamphlets. Zack taylor you know and his coaching staff. I think they're doing the right thing. I think the players on bought in the what. She's saying a business. So i won't show up on the field i don't know how many wins that's going to be obvious but there are better football team while we talked about the coffee shop that you just opened up through the ken anderson alliance foundation And your your your organization is doing some really awesome. Things i. I guess. I just want to give you another chance to to talk a little bit more. Maybe what's ahead with the foundation. We're garnering some donations. They're starting to come in here for the evening. And we wanna make sure that We get a sizable amount to and get those to you to to make an impact but if there's anything else you wanted to add about the foundation beyond the new coffee shop that you opened we love to hear it why they won the platinum. We've got a news studio in the back of our building and we're adult day care purposes with music therapy on my wife. Chris and i had a chance to go up there warm day and they had four or five adults that were on. This appeared severe end of autism or down syndrome and they're they're in wheelchairs and mike opponents we have three on-staff that are playing keyboard piano drums and these kids. You know getting involved with it with tamarine's singing the words of the song gosh I the song happy sweet caroline that that we heard they're mad but seeing the pure doorway on their faces making music that was really exciting. Were backed up the next day and they had one of our adults tower and look and they had colors were. The cords are on the neck of the guitar and another adult at a keyboard on the keys. And there's music in front of them with haulers and before the keys and the to the qatar matched up parlors. Teaching them play no by colors and fall..

"You need multiple guys that you have to double team. Not just one guy because that one guy you can double team and eliminate that nobody else can win their one on one. You know you got some couple so all of that. Gonna you know unfold itself and you're gonna see work you have what you don't have and you can be as creative as you want to be But defensively but offensively. If they're pretty good offensively they always have to trump on because they can substitute personnel at the very end. And you don't have time to match up you know and you can. You can always be right. Well i'm gonna versatility so for now. Today's national football league because teams can decide. Okay i'm gonna seven. I'm no small and you stuck with big is out there. And a guy. Like sam hubbard. Who's played safety and linebacker as well as defensive line. You know you drop him. You could be some things some position. Versatility you're not as not as Outmanned from personnel standpoint get caught in formation where. She's don't have enough athletes on the field. Well a little bit of gives you some of that position versatility so It's gonna be interesting. You always as a coach. You always would love to have players. They can just beat their opponent one on one and they can't double everybody. You can get you know you can try to use czarnecki. You wanna be in trying to trick them in fool. I remember the great. Paul brown stands up in front of us as a team. One time and said you know. We can't trick them every. Snap at some point you guys gonna go out there and just playing pizza on the body. Yes sir coach. Do about that really really quickly. I mentioned your most recent guests in your podcast. Is ken anderson. I say this as somebody who who believes strongly the dave lapham will be and should be in the bengals ring of honor one day. That said i believe voters this time around. Got it right. Big time no brainer. Bingo bango bongo. I mean it's ken. Ken show it's not getting barbie. There's no barbies two cans booth that that's the way it should be and off. Four those gentlemen ring of honor gives unbelievable significant huge factors in in the early stages in the success of the cincinnati. bengals stand. You know paul brown. What more can you say anthony. And in my opinion i just wanted to live at his position. And i think he can make a case for it and to me. It's tragic but we talked about this many times. There's one player in the history of the damn game that is not back passing titles in two different decades in the seventies eighties with two different coordinators. Two different sets of players who different sets of circumstances and when he went back to back. You know in that second one. That's one the team. Was you know in a two year. Stretch when twelve and four and seven and two kenny. Anderson's in the hall of fame. There's one player. Now there's four other guys there's only five guys that have won four passing titles but to win back to back in two different decades and be the only one to do it. Come on man. That's a travesty. Up in kim. Getting shake yourself away. You gotta get it right now. No argument for me always appreciate the time. I'll bug you again soon. Thank you very much. My pleasure mo the great. Dave lapham he and dan hoard have the first game along with wayne box. Miller of course pre and post game august fourteenth bengals and the buccaneers. That's two weeks from friday. Nobody surprised that ken anderson is going to be in the inaugural class of the bengals ring of honor. He'll be inducted along with ken. Riley anthony moon news and paul brown on september the thirtieth i had ten on seven hundred wwl w last night and i asked him about what is honor means..

"Your family what's this experience been like if been a naked parents just to get a call from the mike brown and there's a bit am-among was on the phone and into here The dubrow speaks highly and my father and just knowing being a part of the inaugural class going in with Coach paul brown and ken anderson Is a just a great honor. And it's something that he deserved. And i guess it was here to see it and just to hear you know so many of the former players and so many of the fans speak highly other than he was so well respected Definitely makes us feel good and we appreciate all the kind words that is uh talk about. What do you think this particular honor would have meant like to your dad. What do you think he would say about this. It would have to be at the top of the top because he paid for cincinnati It's entirely career. He always you know. Cincinnati was his team so definitely would be a great honor in something. He would have a terrorist. You you played college football for your dad. So you're old enough to have remembered. I guess the tail end of his career but but now as as an adult what what do you remember about his playing days Pretty much everything i just. I remember like as far as i remember him playing in him to be able to play for fifteen years. I was paying it either ten or eleven twelve when he retired so i remember vividly Watching him We actually live in florida but To catch all the highlights and watch eight. That was all waste you know. Nfl package at a time. So just trying to get a glimpse of the highlights or any mention of the bengals. So i i remember it all though and like you said i play for him in college florida so this some great memories..

He can anderson winning a vote that resulted in. Not just those. Two guys getting in inducted into the bengals ring of honor on september the thirtieth but effectively beating out fifteen other guys who were also on the ballot and i made an on air plea. I don't know in this was mayor. Jun i made an on air plea for those who are voting to do the right thing and vote for kenny anderson and ken riley so i feel like bengals fans who voted. They got this right. This these were the two guys. This is not a snub. Nobody nobody who is left on the outside looking in got snubbed. there are going to be other bengals. Ring of honor inductees. I had somebody tweet me yesterday. That this was an affront to boomer esiason well ken anderson's a better than boomer sizing and i say that as somebody boomers my favorite all time. Nfl player. he's also older than boomer. Assize sizing ken. Anderson has a hall of fame case boomer. Frankly does not so this to me was about a couple of different things number one to a degree writing..

"Former players had talked about him. Yeah that's true. And i still have a lot of former teammate. And he took part in that as well because he wanted to develop a man. And that's what was Taught to him from coats. Take eight there Coach paul brown Coach barnes greg so many mentors and coaches that feel those Great philosophies and himself and he just passed along and it was more about developing men and just development can about athlete. He wanted them to be able to leave school and be productive in society. And that's what he took pride in. And i think that just carried over and the the kids really appreciate as they became men and now men out here. I'm a lotta time. They joke and say a lot of the things that my father used to say that they thought at the time was funny but they really appreciate it now and see he really cared about them as men and not just as a you know athlete. So i think that have a long way and that was just the The kind of person he was because he really cared about you know kids. He cared about the community Cincinnati was just like a second home tone. He always loved no bar to florida. That's where he's from so happy. He played finished playing. He ended up back in Bardo always had a a love for cincinnati and it was always great to actually go back to cincinnati with them and see the love that received from all the fans. And you know the support. So you really appreciate it. When he went back in it was just also great to see what. What can you tell me and one of the things. That's really cool about this you know. It's it's three iconic former players and paul brown. The go in anthony munoz enough said maybe the greatest of all time. And then you know. Ken anderson and to me if we were to do a list of the most deserving players for at least serious consideration of the pro football hall of fame who are not in a two names that are at the very top of that list. Or your dad's and ken anderson Walk me through what. It's been like to have a relationship with those guys and some of your dad's former teammates whether it be while your dad was still with us or whether it be in the aftermath of his passing last year like it's like a brotherhood and it. It's amazing to me whereas honesty here. Some of those grades like after the they can't anderson's the isaac curtis lewis bring in the market. So i can go on. Because i was a big fan but it was a brotherhood and they always supported one. Another you know. My dad had a golf tournament which we continue to have out of the guys will always come in and support. Just be there And he would do the same so whenever you know they will call each other and they needed it they were. They were there for each other. So that's one of the big things that i look at it and it's like i said it's really heartwarming to hear them speak so highly of him but he really cherish all those relationships and he developed through the years with the bengals can go on and on about you know even at work for reggie williams down in orlando Who which is roommate last. Eight years and Reggie no play linebacker. In and lewis and curtis and ross browner. I designed them with all democrat all the guys. I just remember those. Remember those guys and they really had like the brotherhood in family for life. You'll get no argument from me that your dad belongs in canton and and i hope that happens. One day i wanna does. I'm going to call you and we're going to talk about it but it has to make you feel good that there's been this movement led by bengals fans. I know you're you're aware of it. But you know all the fans that gathered in canton last month and they had a rally and it was it was it was in good taste right. They supported the hall of fame. They hung out they. I mean it's this isn't a protest. This is a a very sort of grassroots just movement to make people aware that. Hey here's a guy who is among the greatest cornerbacks who ever lived. Who's done things in this sport. That men in the hall of fame haven't done and he deserves at least a stronger looked and he's got and for my money. He deserves to be inducted. Short of his induction. It does have to make you feel good that there are so many people who remember your dad playing and have taken up his cause and even folks like me a little bit younger. Remember him playing but also take his 'cause like you say eva. Thank you for this. This guy's like yourself giving me opportunity coming speak bingo gm. I told him. I would give out remarkable. I his Memorabilia is second to none But he has a great fear he loves the bingles and he actually came down to my Father's golf tournament and he made a special trip to drive our and a half him and his life to come down and meet me. And i can never say enough about him. In the rest of the fans. I am all social media and st the love and support williamson says you know season as well. And he's like. I wish a lot more former players. Actually you know social media so they can see because it doesn't go unnoticed and it really really can't say it enough. I really from the bottom high families. Were really appreciate the love and support that they contain the give him and hopefully one day he will get that call and i wish i could meet. Everybody always makes you. I definitely put Plug the fans the fans. You know. I don't know where it would be. But they have really got behind our my father but all the other Former being great. And it's really good to see elizabeth doing a great job they. They're starting his on it. And i just see a lot of great things to come. I think young. Any signing team with joel borough and pentagon chasing why receiving the live food. And i just wish him nothing but the best and know that and my father was cheered for him and i knew as well so i just like i said thank you guys for the opportunity Come on and speaking by them in You know it really means a lot well the next time we do this. Hopefully you've gotten that call. And i'm going to be positive about this. I'm going to say that it's going to happen. In the absence of that september the thirtieth should be awesome. I hope you and your family enjoy it and And i appreciate you coming on and talking about your dead. Congratulations to you and your mom and in their family. This is an overdue honor but certainly well-deserved. Thanks so much faith again. Thanks for having me and hope to meet you one day real so that would be great. That's ken riley the second. His dad inducted voted in by season ticket holders into the inaugural bengals ring of honor class along with ken anderson. Who joins us after. The seven o'clock news was somebody who i think would be in the seven hundred wwl w ring of honor if we ever had one of those matt reese next on the home of the red seven hundred wwl w cincinnati..

"Play. That feels strongly about it. Why question and then that. I'm very appreciative of those efforts. But you know it's not surprising you know i think. Cincinnati has as good a fan in the national football league as anybody and you know. I remember the days going back to to riverfront stadium and the crowd we had and the enthusiasm and you know and and we were as good as anybody in the national football league You know unfortunately we have to have a dynasty in our division with the pittsburgh steelers. But i think if you look back at the years i was starting quarterback. We had by far the best record against the steelers of anybody in the national football league in oakland with another superior team we got beat by three points in a playoff game and seventy three. We got beat by miami in a playoff game. And there's only my third year in the league. I may not have been ready for the big stage at that moment. You know. I look back at the history of the bengals and and again i. I think that's one of the things that i'm proud of that. We go back. And and lately. I think in the national media Cincinnati does not get the recognition that we deserve. But we've got a rich history of winning a rich history of playing great football and sometimes people forget that when the night you you get. Inducted september thirtieth. They're also going to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the nineteen eighty-one. Afc champions and there are so many for whom you say all right the eighty one afc champions. Maybe the super bowl itself comes to mind for most folks. It's the freezer bowl that comes to mind outside of those two when when you think of that season what's the the maybe the third thing that pops into your head after beating san diego and frigid conditions and playing the san francisco. Forty niners while you know. I think the first playoff game against buffalo and you talk about a well played game by both teams that we want you know was the twenty eight twenty one but you know when i think about those days i think about the team. We had the players. We had how good they were the players that we had how civically conscious they were. What a difference they made in the community and they were just a bunch of class guys. And i think that had a lot to do with the way. We want now in the last couple of weeks. As i've been following this and hoping i would get a chance to talk to you. We're we're selling beer now. Were coffee as well. The foundation is going strong Take me in the audience through some of these endeavors. Well we just opened up out of plainfield road in silverton be just brew copy shop. Yes in the building that the kanana's alliance has We're employing fourteen adults with disabilities. So that was really exciting that we're doing that where we're giving a chance for these adults. Earn have real jobs with real wages to become as independent as they can. Also you know. I've been talking with sixteen lots of brewery a little microbrewery out of mason and they wanted to To grew a beer for me and the foundations And give a percentage of the proceeds which will be a substantial amount. I stopped dell is the the name of One of the parties out there and said you know. I have trouble going to microbreweries. You know. I don't like i t as i don't like a heavier beer. I don't like the beers with an aftertaste goes. Oh yeah i know you like keystone mike. So we we might fear that's That's low i. It's like you can drink a lot of it. It's low in alcohol content so you can drink a lot of it. And they brought out the test batch out to the the grand opening of just brew and i think it was a hit. So we're getting ready for that in fact mo- as i remember. Yes you wanna wanna the contest that we bear with me at the holy grail of before one of the games so I'm gonna be in town for the home opener. september twelfth as well as the september thirtieth game. So i hopefully we can get it into holy grail by that and you can share i. It's funny because i have all sorts of things written down that i want to ask you about. I'm a little short on time but at the very end was when am i getting my beer from you so you just kind of answered it for me and that would be for me a huge honor so i hope we can make that happen along with you had some other contests winters. That would be a huge honor. And i'll certainly lift one to the two again. A very well deserved honor in one that. I'm i'm honored to get a chance to talk with you about. Congratulations this is always so cool to talk to you. Enjoy the rest of your summer. We'll see in a couple of months. Yes september twelve at the banks being you done in mike. I'll be the first one in the door. Don't worry about that. Thank you can well here. You go ken. Anderson and ken riley just class just an absolute class act and You know it's some of the the easiest shows you could do. Certainly here is on a on a random day. Pull out you know. Ken anderson should be in the hall of fame and it gets talked about so much and it gets talked about so much and it gets talked about so much. And you're not gonna find much descent to that in this town for for obvious reasons but when you do an objective look at the numbers and you do an objective. Look at how he how he compared to other quarterbacks of his era i think he has more than the case. I think you should be in. And i would say the exact same thing about ken riley..

"And our next guest A guy that i've had the privilege of talking with many many times But i've always wanted this data. Come as somebody who has long lamented. The fact that the bengals haven't done a ring of honor they have and i've always wanted to talk with ken anderson on the day of his election. That is today. Ken is with us now. Congratulations how are you. I'm doing great how you doing. I'm doing i'm doing well. I gotta think not nearly as well as you knew you were making this right. The bengals are going to have a ring of honor. You kind of went. Yeah i'll i'll be in that inaugural class right. You knew this was coming. You know you never know. I put a long time ago and there are seventeen other great candidates on the ballot. Some of them more current than i am. And you don't know where people's memories go so needless to say. I am so honored and pleased to be the inaugural class. Do do a sort of a dive into that for me. Roll through exactly what. It feels like to get that phone call and the types of emotion that jogs that comes to mind. Well you know. I think number one. Obviously i personally honored. But i'm i'm so happy because you know as you know in the national media the the bengals don't get a lot of respect sometimes and when you go back to the sixties seventies eighties. We were as good as any team in the national football league. And certainly i think you know people remember more about the eighty one super bowl team. But you know when i go back to to the seventies and you know the guys played in the sixties and seventies. We have some great players. Obviously you know kenny riley. Being one of them. But you know. I look back. You know myers. And isaac curtis and bob johnson and by trumping gosh essex johnson as good as any running back and we've ever had you know On the team until he hurt his knee in the playoff game against miami in seventy three. You know my roommate for years. Dave laughing tommy casanovas and i think the list goes on and on and you know to think finally we can go back to that era and they recognize me but i hope that. Remember a lot of these guys. Yeah i would. I would agree with that when when when memories come to mind of of your your finest moments your favorite team teammates and just certain milepost of your career. What memories have have come to mind just over the last couple of days since you found out that you're going to get this honour while you know. I think it's you know surprise. You ask that question. Because i just got back into a family reunion up in batavia illinois and my uncle vary whose like my older brother. Nancy moved from chicago to milwaukee and a retirement apartment aunt. Nancy never threw away anything and at a family reunion. They gave me a large box of stuff. And i spent a week going through that. And those not only newspaper articles from the seventies and on you know game programs tickets that kind of stuff. So you know the take that week and got kind of go back and relive those memories and then of course then get the call from mike brown and elizabeth blackburn. That was special. You have played with or played for all three of the other ring of honor inductees. So the paul brown is. It's remarkable to me. This was said by your former teammate. Chris collins worth in the nfl network special. They did on on paul. I don't know five or six years ago that there's the george halas trophy. There's a vince lombardi trophy. There's a lamar hunt trophy. There's nothing in the national football league named after paul brown which is astounding to me. When when you you played and played quarterback for for such a legendary figure. This is such an obvious question. But what was that like while you know you talk about being all someone when we come from the table and all i in august and college and all of a sudden fear sitting at riverfront stadium across paul at his desk and knowing what he meant to the national football league. You know the the great things. He did a cleveland. And you know i. If everybody's honest the way that the national football league at least operates today you know with the packer schedules with You know having an off season. Paul around started all of that. I mean so i mean he is kind of the founder of modern day football and and just to be around him especially i guess my only wish was i wish it would have been around him when he was a little bit earlier when when he may have been more active in the game planning but he's certainly commanded your respect and you know they say the meeting starts at nine. The meeting started when paul walked in the office and he walked into five. Nine in your in your seat. Then you got fined for being late. Ten riley had sixty five interceptions as as an nfl defensive back which is tied for fifth. All-time if i added on top of that total the number of times he picked you off in practice. How many would you have one hundred and sixty five. Kenny was a great player. And i think you know. Kenny was all about teams. And you know. I think if you talked to collins worth if you talk to isaac curtis and you'd be in training camp and christmas told the story before that you know he's a rookie going up against kenny. And then he would run a pass out and kennywood grab on the way back to the huddle and told him what he did. And what kennesaw. They make chris a better player. He would do that to me early in my career he would pick up one in and practice and then come on kenny. Your eyes gave it away or this. Was heavier shoulders the way it was turned. So you know he was all about team and all about winning and he made all of us better players in one thousand nine hundred. Eighty anthony munoz shows up. What do you remember about that. Well you know i. I was over the hill back then. my career was down They drafted my replacement. Seventy nine with the number one tech and all of a sudden you know anthony comes in anchors the left side of the line and we got max and we got flare bush shimmy got lap them and we got bush knocked. We got mike wilson. I became a good player again. Relation to those guys. It's interesting. I've always wanted to ask you this. So if you look anthony. Caught a couple of touchdown passes later in his career his rookie season the had one catch for minus six yards. Do you remember what happened there. I do not. I know he cut a lot more touched up all right. Well i we might have to go dive into the archival game footage and find out why one catch negative six yards something so something must have gone horribly wrong. I've said this to you publicly. I've i've said this to you privately. I long to have you on the air. And i hope to god. This happens where. I have you on the air and we talk about cam. And you're in. You're in the hall of fame. it's it's deserved. It's painfully overdue. And i said this to ken riley sung. We were talking about his hall of fame. Bona fides and i said to him. You know it's gonna make you feel good to hear and sort of grasp this very very grassroots movement. That bengals fans have been involved in to make that happen to to get your dad's strongly considered for the hall of fame. And hopefully one day inducted from from your standpoint it does have to make you feel good that there are so many people who feel so strongly that not only should you have been celebrated by the bengals long ago. Not only should you have been an are one of the first inductees into the bengals ring of honor but but you should have a commensurate celebration in canton. It does have to make you feel good that so many people feel so strongly about it and so many people. Frankly can that even didn't.

"Ken anderson. Sixteen years with the bengals for pro bowls played. The super bowl led the league in passing five times. I believe how is how is he not in the hall of fame other than because he played for the bengals being in the hall of fame includes being one of the greatest players that your position of your generation. Right ken anderson was one of the greatest players at quarterback in his generation. He should be in the hall of fame. Also should be in the hall of fame ken riley sixty five interceptions in his career number five all time in nfl history. The number one interception total for a corner in nfl history at true corner guy the play corners. Oh career how's that guy. Not in the hall of fame makes no sense absolutely no sense for ken riley not to be in the hall of fame but he will be in the bengals ring of honor. And it's cool to see this finally getting off the ground it's long overdue and i still want like give him crap for for taking this long but took you so long. What took you so long. But i won't be. I won't be critical. They've gotten things right this summer. They're aimed in the right direction again. Like i said one of the things that they've definitely got right is the way that they've planned out these announcements on days where they can get their fair share of the media cycle where they can get features on every local. Tv station where they can get time on the radio. Time for us to play. What can anderson had to say about being nominated into the bengals ring of honor. First of all my thanks to the bengals organization for taking a chance on a log. Astana college back in one thousand nine hundred seventy one and giving them a chance to develop. And it's really an exciting day for me to go in with kenny riley. He was my longest tenured teammates. That i ever played with so that that is really exciting and you know. I'm just so grateful that the bengals are doing this ring of honor and you know i think for one of the reasons that kind of remember some of the guys from the past. I think we have a long tradition of success in winning. And cincinnati started back in the seventies certainly going to the playoffs and the third year. Nineteen seventy before. I got there. But seventy three seventy five in those years that we were as good as any team in the football the national football league. Unfortunately the pittsburgh steelers happened to be an our division but i will take satisfaction the fact that we won more games against pittsburgh than any other team during that period of time. But i think you know and again. I go back especially to the guys in the sixties and seventies the bob johnson's and the bob trumpy and the mike reads and tommy casanovas. And the lamar parishes. My gosh is essex. Johnson is gonna running back and we had you know except maybe for that early knee injury and his career and then we can kind of bring back some of those memories and i think sometimes people forget today especially around the country that the bengals have a long and rich winning tradition in the national football league scott. I'm really glad that we can kind of focus on that. And it'll be a fun night. September thirtieth and the thing. I'm most excited about is. We had some success back in those days. And i see a lot of success coming from the bengals in the future there. You go ken anderson talking about his selection to the bengals ring of honor. That's gotta getting getting put up there by the fans get nominated by the fans when i was. Here's what i was worried. I was worried they were going to skew to the more recent stuff. Right chad johnson. Even you know willie boomer guys like that. Those guys are going to get in. So it's not a problem if those guys would've gotten in right away. It just deserved to be munoz kenny anderson. Ken riley in that first group like their names should be up there before anybody else. It's like the cincy three sixty ring of honor here right to of the first three names. Paul brown anthony munoz somehow tony. Pike's name is up on that wall before david west. Rose lavelle. sean. Casey luke keithly ken riley tony pike on the ring of honor before the cincy. Three sixty ring of honor. Before ken riley anderson before kenyon martin an investigation needs to be done question now becomes. Who's next. who's next chad. Johnson's the easy one right. Sorry i hung up myself chad. Johnson's the easy one right. I think i would vote lap. Maybe that's the media guy in me as lap was a very good player for the bengals and then has become well. Dan hoard is the voice of the bengals. Lap has become the voice of the bengals. Right right when you hear labs voice. That's the first thing you think bengals. I think i think that has to be a consideration right. Like he is. An old timer is a guy that had a storied career as a bengal and he's been part of the organization. Most of his life joe nuxhall was revered like that right guy that gave his whole life to the cincinnati. Reds lap has done that with the bengals willy anderson. Definitely be in contention there for the next round. We assume the next round is going to be too. I think that's a safe bet. And i think that's the right way to do it right. You do the two locks which were brown. And muna's paul brown anthony muna's and then two more as like.

"Weekend. You've got questions. She's got the answers. So pay attention. It's time for since the lifestyle with Ali Martin on 700 wlw. She's got to follow Christian where they've been so good. That's that's always a Christmas wound up this morning heavy heavy for Friday, but I mean it's It's what it is. How are you? Ali Martin here from since he lifestyle channel nine Wcpo weekday mornings at 10 o'clock where they just talk. What do you do over there? When you talk about things happening in the city, Okay. Fun stuff, not shooting. No, no, no, no, no, that would be that be the news that be a different area. Our goal is to try to brighten some people's day. Yes, right. Put some sunshine in your day Turn that turn that frown upside down. It's Father's day this week and his father's Day. Happy early Father's Day. Thank you, probably more than I'll get from my kids. But anyway, that's about all I got. That's all I got for you right there. Um, Yeah, I don't know what the plan is, I said surprised me, so I don't know what we're doing. Well, I'm gonna golf a little in the morning, but All right. Well, maybe I can help out was right. What do you got? So we've got some things to do maybe some potential purchases, So I guess we'll start by talking about some things to do. There is a Father's Day fooling tournament happening this weekend. You love falling. I do love following. We're going to keep this one quick, But this is fun Just because it's it's something to whether your guy or girl you know, Father Daughter is fun day. It also raises funds for the Ken Anderson Alliance, so that isn't actually happening on Sunday. It's 40 Bucks for two and admits to Doors open at noon. It starts at one, and that's on Sunday. So if you over in Norwood Yeah, so it's the falling where to do. They're just wanted to plug that really quickly, right? By the way, the falling is so its cornhole bowling and football all rolled into one, so they take bowling pins set them on board. Kind of like corn holes apart, and then you throw footballs to knock the pins off the platform. It's great thing to do while you're drinking. It is And if you don't want to do that, And if you want to take a little bit of maybe a trip, get in the car and go somewhere. Yeah, I would recommend checking out the Ohio Caverns. Okay. It is about a half hour from downtown Cincinnati. It's about 30 minutes or an hour and a half Sorry. An hour 45 minutes from downtown society, about a half hour from Dayton. And it is Ohio's largest and most beautiful caves were not typically known for our caves. But we have caves and you could take tours. There are two different tours, their historic tour and a natural wonder tour and it was discovered in 1987. It's just It's really cool. It's underground, and it's one of the largest caves in Ohio. So something to do something to do. Unless you're claustrophobic, Dad, then maybe not so much a phobic. I mean, getting all science E. It's the slack types in this to lag, Mights and it just the beautiful colors in the cave and and the water down there. It makes for some really great formulation. Cool. Nature's air condition. Example. Who'll 54 degree that cold down there all year round. And that sounds like a la Goring. Time could bring me I built a house under there would be great if I could live at 54 years. 54 54 degrees at 54 years. All right. So the Ohio caverns Hellfire drivers that that's about an hour and 45 minutes from downtown about 30 minutes outside east of Dayton. Got it. Okay, cool. So another active thing to do, And I actually was very shocked when I went up there for since the lifestyle shoot Winton Woods. Mhm. It is. It is a Hidden oasis in the middle of Cincinnati, and you can do practically anything there from kayaking to canoeing to golfing to horseback riding to camping. You name it. There is literally a little bit of everything. That is nice. Yeah, And there are parks are amazing. They really are because I think you know Sharon would just like that to get a little bit of everything. They got the golf. They got the paddle boats and stuff and playgrounds for the kids and all that. But I went to Woods is awesome, too. Yeah, the great parks of Hamilton County. Thank you for that. But I was I was shocked. We went up there to do. It was just specifically segment on. Campground. Bring your RV and hook up and you know 68 electric sites. Yeah, Yeah. Yeah, And then we're happen in a golf cart and taking a full tour of the grounds and it is beautiful. It's clean you can run you can walk like is that you can get on a paddleboard. They have a little snack shack. So if you just look at to get out And walk a little bit and do something. What about would look at what? What cicadas. They're kind of dying out. Well, we're in the back end of it. There's still plenty of them Buggers out. There are when I was at the cavalcade of customs last week. Okay. Part systems are not the cavalcade of press. So you're at the course of the classier version of conquest daily guns. I wish I would have had my zoom lens and was just filming everyone throughout the entire of them because that was the real show people swatting the cicadas. Well, I want to Many people said I'm not bringing my rig out there by my nice car attacked by cicadas, juice. I mean, yeah, there's if you commit, you know you're Yeah. You're in there. There's no going. You judge the art contest. I believe in the concourse said I did Good. Good. Good. Very was it big time? There are a lot of good artists there. And, uh, yeah, yeah, the concourse elegance again that is for wine drinkers. Complicated customs. That's where your spear during first two hot It was really It's like that's hot. No kidding. Yeah, it was really, really. It was hot. Was hot or or if you want to buy a $650,000 Rolls Royce. Why would you do that? They'll be right where you go. So all right, Um Ali Martin here since he lifestyle Friday mornings at this time stuff.

"Well that and remember. He's that creepy beer thing going like a you know when you grow a beard. There's a face you know like you have hair underneath your lip and there's there's a space and then there's a hair below that he doesn't have that space and it's possibly the creepiest thing i've ever seen especially like bright blonde like. Yeah so no. That was working against him as well. Yeah but how about my question. I appreciate the observation. Only that could only come from. But do you think that had had he Not had any setbacks in been suspended do you think that he would have ended up being able to to to to stand up upward trajectory. Or do you think that there was a lower ceiling. The main event level guy. I think there was a cap on it. I mean i you know at first. You saw glimpses. Like i like i like Like a stunning steve austin and and we the maturation process from stunning thieves to to stone. Cold so i think at first glance. You're like wow you know kidding we can. We be on the ground floor or something like that and i think unfortunately for candidate there. There was a lower stealing than than than i was hoping for. And i mean it's he got chances. I mean he took on john's seen on raw. He talked to shawn michaels. I mean this he was given. I think jeff hardy to was a feud was in there jeff. He was given opportunities. And i actually. I mean i'm kind of interesting. He was a kennedy kennedy. After mr mcmahon's middle name. That's yeah exactly. That's huge. Yeah so i actually would be now that we're going on about ten years since his hat since his big push would actually interesting To go back. And look at what i was saying about. Those t- those matches at the time and refresh my memory because he is is fascinating. He's one of those guys who i remember seeing about First avenue in downtown minneapolis when he was when he was Getting a big push in In wwe and and and it just chatting with him briefly. and i. i remember just thinking this is going to be a local guy who makes it big But i i just think it again. I wanna go back. Look at my match reviews. But i don't remember ever thinking man did. He stepped up the performance. That impress mcmahon by contrast. Aj styles hats. Obviously resume is just blows away. Can anderson at the time You know with ken anderson just simply going through. wwe developmental and a little bit of Of indie work early in his career But aj knows one guys. He got made event. Spas any blue man away and he set. He's made. And i think kennedy just was always kind of on that on that brink of not quite impressing mcmahon enough to do that. But obviously i don't know if it's maturity or attitude or judgment issues Hurt him also Along the way As did i just think that dane cook tra trajectory. I don't know that that that character you know when he when he started at tna. It's just sorta felt especially when vince russo's booking tna and trying to push him as edgy guy. Who's an asshole all the time and it's just it was just. I rolling really bad and derivatives and redundant and dated and. It just didn't seem like he had much beyond that. I think he's talented. I i just think being saddled with doing kind of dane. Cook schtick limited. What might have been a wide range of personality that he could have had have. You heard we've got our vip so going on right now. The days are limited act now and go vip for just a dollar twenty one..
