"Class celebrate girl, bright girl musician. Athlete, Laco and on her family described her as adventurous, outgoing and smart. This kid is a always curious in just full of questions. Abigail Williamson S Abbey was a fellow eighth grade at the same school. She in libby played on the same volleyball team. Abby was quiet when she first met people. But when she was comfortable with that person or people. She could be just as outspoken his libby. She loved the outdoors camping swimming. Writing ATV's anything like that was good with her. And she dreamt of a future in forensics or police work. Abby a friend. Libby were looking forward to high school and adulthood full of possibilities when they went missing February thirteenth two thousand seventeen. Yeah, so it's a horrible tragedy. They lived in Delphi Indiana. It's a rural town about ninety miles north west of Indianapolis. The town's really small surrounded by some small neighborhoods and large stretches of farmland. It according to Libya's older sister. Kelsey Libyan an Abbey had slept in that morning after they had a sleepover at Libya's grandparents, house. Libyan her sister Kelsey lived with their grandparents Becky and Mike and Their Dad Derek in Delphi since libby was three years old, so the girls got permission to go to the modern high bridge over deer creek in remote Deer Creek Township. The historic bridge was a popular place to visit. Add take pictures and the High Bridge is about seventy feet above deer creek, but this railway hasn't been used since the eighties at least hit. It was in really bad shape, and it had no side rails, so it'd be a really scary place especially if you're like me, your freight of Heights, yeah. I don't know that I would walk on that. We're looking. Looking at some of the pictures films, not my cup of tea for sure now. If I had to get across that, I'd have to crawl yet. Be Too, so they were pretty brave in that way, but I'm wondering if it was guess it wasn't in such bad shape that people were not allowed on it, and we were still able to walk across a correct. Well, technically, it was illegal to use it to walk on it, but people did her parents. That kind of situation here, so it certainly wasn't thought of as a safe thing that you could do. You wouldn't take a class trip there and have all the kids cross it. Right so Kelsey Libby speak. Sister dropped the girls off around one thirty, five PM and Libya's Dad Derek to pick them up at three, and the day was unseasonably warm. Normally, it would have been a school day, but this was what they call a snow makeup day. There hadn't been a lot of snow that winter. They hadn't used all their snow days, so the gave the kids a day off and gave them a three day.

"So we're back here. CNN Center in our production room and bar. I don't know about you but one of the things that's striking to me. When when you hear these family members talking about those first couple of hours is that there are varying levels of concern and I you know I said earlier to someone i? I can't help but think about my parents. If it were me there'd be two very different approaches. My Dad would be calm cool collected. My mother would be in a state of media in some of that is personality. I mean in this case we have Anna. Who isn't real concerned at this point? She's it's a little concerned but she thinks maybe they're lost. It'll all work out. Mike is kind of feeling the same way our item on my way but disarray probably resolve itself. And then you have Kelsey libby sister who is like no. There's something not right here. This is odd and one one of the things that jumps out to me about that. Is that usually the people that are younger and Kelsey has held at this point. Seventeen seventeen. They're usually the ones that are saying like no no no. It's fine mom freaking out. Everything's GonNa be fine so it was kinda striking that her I thought was. There's something not ready. And then you have these two grandmothers Diane a an already having a bad day having lost the family friend and Jamie just that morning to cancer and Becky who for what I understand she's kind of prone to freaking out she's completely freaking out at this point and so this is the backdrop and the precursor to as everybody kind of makes their way way into the woods that evening to start this frantic search..

"Hi there you found true crime recaps. This is the only podcast delivering a quick fix too. Busy chur crime attics who don't have time to get all obsessive. But still wanna discuss this crazy shit with a fellow addict, welcome friend. I'm your host, Amy Townsend. And I can't wait to tell you the latest, but I'm gonna keep it because I know you got blazes to be. So let's get into it with today's recap. Okay. I am so excited to talk about this. This is the Delphi murders. And if I am saying the name of that city wrong. I am so sorry God help me. I tried to listen to the police chief when he did his press conference. I played it over and over the little clip where he says the town name, and I think it's Delphi. But feel free to ride in tell me if I'm wrong anyway, people were murdered there. So we're going to talk about it there. Two best friends, Abby Williams, she was thirteen and Libby German fourteen. They had a day off from eighth grade on February thirteenth 2017. It's like a prearrange. And snow day or something even though it was warm out. And because it was warm they asked luby's older sister Kelsey to drive them to the Delphi historic trails. So they could you know, walk around take pictures just be outdoors. These are two really outdoorsy girls. So she agrees. She drops them off around two pm near the modern high bridge says abandoned railroad bridge tracks over deer creek. It's busy. There's a lot of people walking around. And this was kind of right at the trail head where she dropped them off. When she came back to pick them up a few hours later, they were nowhere to be seen a huge. Search party was formed, but it had to be called off after only a few hours because by that time it was too dark to see much of anything around noon. The next day February fourteenth their bodies were found about three quarters of a mile from where they'd been dropped off on the property of seventy seven year old Ron Logan who owns. About thirty acres in that area. So here's his deal. Because like me your first thought is probably that is the fucking guy. But it's not the fucking guy turns out he is the guy for another crime though, so kit this Ron Logan was on probation for multiple DUI's. And for what they're calling being a habitual traffic offender in two thousand fourteen and he wasn't supposed to be driving or drinking. But after all the attention he got because the girls were found on his property. Investigators discovered that all wron was still drinking and driving. In fact, he driven to the county dump on the day. The girls went missing, but stand-down witnesses put him there before the girls were even dropped off at the park. And then they found out he was driving and drinking down at the America's pizza king. So they arrested him anyway. And he alternately was sentenced to two years of house arrest. Can we say this person needs to learn about Uber? Quick side note, apparently people have been giving Kelsey Libby sister. A hard time about dropping the girls off to wander around these trails alone. And here's what she had to say about that bullshit on Twitter quote. I just wanna put out there that the girls were not dropped off in the middle of some isolated woods. I dropped them off at a walking trail where kids had been walking and hanging out all day. Yeah. I wish I hadn't. Yes. I get to regret that every day. We wish we would have said, no, unquote. May I just say this poor woman doesn't that kind of thing? Just make you wish you could hire Chrissy Teagan beer, publicist clapback at all the awful internet people on your behalf because AMB I right? No one does it as well. Or as hilariously as she does. I mean, we down to you, Chrissy. But if Chrissy was chiming in on that kind of hater talk, she'd probably say something along the lines of what kind of idiot thinks. Can tell two teenage girls that they can't go on a nature. Walk me. Why would you ever even think to try and keep them inside by all accounts? These two girls were active outdoorsy types. They played sports fish, they hunted. They did although smoke Indiana town things so a hike is a completely valid request. Now, if they had said, hey, could we go over to the home of the date rape? He football player and hang out unsupervised in his basement entering groovy laced hot chocolate can rookies actually work in hot drink then. Yeah. Of course, that's when you put your foot down, and you say hell, no. And you try locking them in their rooms with the windows nailed shut because that's pretty much what it takes to try and keep teenagers from doing whatever they want to do that had been me, and my mom tried to keep me, and my best friend from the great outdoors. I probably would have just snuck out and hitchhiked to the Delphi trails and been killed by the driver of the car that picked me up long before I actually got to the trail. I mean, not really I would never have. Voluntarily been hiking. But definitely trying to go to the mall or something. And I definitely wouldn't have been as smart as Libby was to get this actually get a picture and audio of my killer like she did to paraphrase, the Indiana state police sergeant that young lady is a God damned hero. Take a listen. This is the updated audio clip of the man on the bridge saying guys, and then ordering them down the hill the police just released this a few days ago. I'm gonna loop it four times, you can really hear it. It's a little muffled because it was in Libya's pocket and Lord knows if you can recognize the voice or just wanna get an ex-boyfriend in trouble. Call the Delphi. Police department just kidding about your ex unless he's actually the murderer. And then you should also call therapist because girl you're going to be traumatized for life. Anyway, here it is. Creepy.
