"Coming up actually in the feed. We have an interview with jared Dubin from Monday about his survivor squad. We picked one player from each team or one coach. He had thirty two positions. And you can only have one from each. So it's like you can go homes. You can't have Andy Reid tyreek Hill Travis. Kelsey Bill Belichick head coach. You can't have over the Jarret Stidham etc. Also Brian Schottenheimer interview taught to old shoddy about Russell Wilson a Lotta good nuggets from him. He was really gauging cool. Dude good to talk to him and appreciate him taking the time and then coming up today Jason Lockenfora on the state of the NFL. In these times of Kuroda jail see. What'S HAPPENING BUDDY. What's going on? Jaguars are opening. Rethink the JAGS. That's that's bad way to ask the question. What are what are you hearing is the? Nfl IS GONNA look like between now. And let's say the middle of July went training camps. Ostensibly would open. I mean I've talked to some people this morning. Various teams who are getting the sense that things are going to that at least some teams are GonNa push to try to get some players in their building at some point in June before training camp and the guys who called me for saying why I mean what what what plane why the NFL ridiculously lucky from a number standpoint when it comes to this virus why open the buildings to try to get in a mini camper two weeks of OTA's and potentially compromise them for the real thick. You know what I mean. Why gather people together now? When training camp wouldn't start until July? Anyway like what? What do we have the like? Who's doing the risk reward here and if this actually happens like wouldn't it be smarter just to keep everybody away until we're actually ready to start training camps yeah wouldn't like and if you're the NFL PA and this is even in the best of times voluntary? Wouldn't you come out? And they could eat that. We feel that in the middle of a public health crisis the likes of which no one alive has ever seen before and given the fact that a hundred thousand Americans have already lost their lives. We strongly recommend all players. Remain home stay out of facilities. Stay away from any conditions where more than ten people in a building out of an abundance of caution until we get to the point where we have created. We hope our season long bubbles read. That's off the top of my head but if you know if D. Smith said that I don't know how you could argue with him. Yeah I think the whole thing is i. It's tough because like it do like you have to take the same view that That there is in general society from many different corners and there are many different views and some of them have many of them are informed for different reasons. But the by and large you know generally speaking. I think there are a lot of people who want to get back to work. And then conversely there are a lot of people like we got to just hunker down and play. You know better safe than sorry for a little bit here because you know we don't we don't know that's that's the ultimate problem like. I'm looking at so tad Dickman the PR PR for the Jaguars. Great Dude Did a very and I think TATA's great about being transparent as well and he tweeted out a thread about the Jaguars reopening the facility at Ti Bank field on today which would be Wednesday. He tweeted it on Tuesday and he basically said that the team created are. They appointed a in control officer They have created infectious response. Teen and all these different Max. Seventy five employees know more than fifty percent of the Jaguars staff they have. The certain type of staffer allow allowed signs social distancing protocols processors for cleaning etc but at the end of the day like near the thing I see is that the team is responsible for screening process which requires employers to complete a training exercise questionnaire and undergo multiple temperature checks. Like I don't know how much you could actually check for it at the end of the day. And what happens if like one person gets through the screening process and all of a sudden. There's a huge outbreak in the facility. You know what I mean. I just when we're at they've been glass. Nobody's been blessed by this but they'd been incredibly lucky about the timing and how it relates to the NFL calendar. And I make the case every year. Not as are the this is the biggest bunch of do about nothing and the sports it is. Okay some some great for the undrafted guys and some young players But otherwise this. This is a farce. You know the idea that these these guys who look great in April who now are going to come out and tear it up in September. It's first so I mean the Gore fight walk-throughs so I mean I don't even I there's no policy you could put in place that's going to be a hundred percent foolproof. Right mean there will be even whatever they put in place for the regular season. I mean if you listen to foul if you listen to what people are saying. No one's GONNA pretend that it's GonNa be one hundred percent Not infected rate right. It's it's going to be degrees of something else's at ninety ninety five percent some percentage of players will stay healthy and some will test positive.

T. scans often fall short but as KCBS is Jeff bell reports researchers at UC San Francisco are finding that a simple blood test could prove to be a big help I think this has significant potential for anybody walking into an emergency department that's UCSF professor of neurosurgery Jeffrey mandali talking about the promise of a blood test that he's been researching were able to detect a brain protein in your blood stream when you have had a traumatic brain injury and here's what's really significant about the test as mailing we find that it's actually more sensitive than the CT scan mainly in his colleagues tracked hundreds of patients with suspected TB eyes red normal CT scans but as part of this study underwent a more sensitive MRI twenty seven percent of those people had abnormalities on an MRI scan that was attributable to their traumatic brain injury answers badly when it came to those patients blood samples this protein was significantly elevated impatience that I had an abnormal MRI as compared to people that had a normal MRI mainly doesn't see the blood test replacing CT scans but he says this is another important tool in our toolbox to take your people with traumatic brain injury the you. "Today, do anything different change coverages pressures, anything. Kind of guys off? Yeah. I mean, they did a variety of things. I mean, I saw a lot of do, but I mean, when you have the defense of play measures that they have, I mean, they can cover people and so for for us we had, we had to just find a way we weren't clicking anywhere in the first half, but we were, we were just grinding and find five doing what we could defense kept us in the game and gave us a chance at the end there to make place. Confidence into knowing that you can do that and he's good with it. Yeah, I think it's all situational. Sometimes you can extend the play and give you receive chances to make plays. Sometimes you need to stay within the pocket and just take what's there. And I at the end of the game, I mean, like I said, they have great cover guys and they were covering up pretty well off. It's give me enough, Tom rocket, extend the play, and we weren't scrimmage all training camp and they were coming back to me and we were there making plays on. Or you hearing. You. A little bit of both within the huddle mega. Sure. Get the play, call out clean. It was loud there, but you have to find ways to get around that in this league. But we are starting the huddle and get on at the line of scrimmage of knowing that cadence. But at the same time, making the protection calls within the play call coming, it's something we're not to work on as going to this next week. Luckily we're going to be at home and so we'll get the from a cheese kingdom. Different. I mean, just the heart team. I mean, I really, I love this team and just how we fight. I mean, we hadn't been tested in this situation yet and just it just show that every every phase the ball special teams defense, all fence that everybody can set up and everybody can make plays. And I knew we had it, and I'm glad we got to show it for everybody else. So we'll keep rolling as the season goes. Now. Never. I mean, are we really? I knew if I just give them a receivers time to to get open to them, they can make plays and you play. You played differences like this and hostile environments in this league, and it was a good motivation. Good confidence booster going into the rest of the season of coq don't being able to face versus and come out with the win. Where you can save a lot of your quarterbacks wanna take off. You always seem to be. Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm not fast, and so I know that my strength is not running the ball and so I I know I have a lot of playmakers huge who strength is catching the ball and making people miss. And so I know if I keep my eyes down field that I can get it to them and they're going to keep working for me and they're gonna make a lot of big plays on. Kelsey bill. Trying to. In coach. No. I mean, they, they never encourage that at the same time as long as long as you completed and you get the first down, they're fine with it. But at the same time you have to know when to not do that, and it was a great time avoid there. Yeah, you you never wanna throw at Prosser body as a quarterback, especially in this league because guys can make plays on defense side of the ball, but it kind of snatch them wide open and I was kinda through to him and I've lot trust in Kelsey, and he's only come down with it and he did. Skies we'll have highs today from the low, sixty s, to the mid nineties welcome to, this morning's forum I'm Michael Krasny the Mendocino complex fire had grown to more than ninety, thousand acres and was as of this, morning twenty four percent contain yesterday lake county supervisors declared a local emergency and fire officials warned that they don't have enough resources to fight the fires which have forced more than fifteen thousand residents from their homes we'll get the latest news on the mendocino complex fire we'll hear how residents are coping as a massive fire sweeps through the region for the fourth time in as many years joining us i as adrian fernandez bauman managing editor for the mendocino voice and welcome good to have you with us this morning Good to be here I guess update the fire with you because. We also have to talk about well how people are. Coping with us the fourth year in a row I mean this has been extraordinarily damaging and devastating and four years in. A row. Is just unbelievable but let's talk about what's happening right now it can you update us on the furthest started yesterday Sure so they're they're currently three fires burning, in, the area a new fire started at about five pm last night. Near the, the small rural community of Cobo about, nine miles east on the border with the national. Forests that fire was burning extremely dry and. Hot conditions quickly jumped up to about eight hundred acres But it's helps steady. Overnight at eight hundred sixty five acre so good news there as to the the, other much much. Larger. Fires the, Mendocino complexes Cal fire is calling it is. Actually composed of two different fires which started about an hour apart and about ten miles apart and have since grown closer together but they've not actually connected so there's a fire in the north called the ranch fire that as at fifty nine thousand acres And that's actually reached fifteen, percent containment today -nificant improvement over yesterday and containment. Numbers can be a little a little parse sometimes you know they When the fire this large you know the containment lines are miles and miles long large part of. This fires burning in the national forest where there's less concerned about the loss of life or property and so there's been a tremendous effort to contain the fire. On the southeastern flank in the southern flank to make sure. That it doesn't burn into communities, there there's just a huge amounts of resources never reported in there and those containment lines are stronger and there's a big. Fight there so that you know that that fifteen percent figure is is actually quite a good, figure and then. The the river fire is at. Thirty two thousand acres, with thirty eight percent containment which is fantastic it's a huge improvement over yesterday now you're making progress and this is on the west side is opposed to other fires in the past on the. Southeast and, eastern side and had to have to go, out to the hard work of these firefighters I mean I know there was progress expected by today but they've been working. In extraordinary ways, and Actually I think firefighters coming in from Australia New Zealand and national guard but. Was still, really the the difficulty is with the resources, in many ways there just aren't enough resources Yeah and and you know I think I think part, of what's happening is the fire destruction that we. Have in, California is is built for a certain level of the fires. Every, spire season and what we're seeing this, fire season at least in, the north coast areas really unprecedented you know usually the really. Bad fire season, doesn't start until August September But this year we're. We're a, small paper based in Mendocino county and there's been some wildfire A couple of week. Most of them get, get stopped before they get most of them, get to maybe forty acres Welcome to the new normal frayed you around that's, what we're facing and that's certainly public officials and we're going to hear from Senator, Mike McGuire later in the segment California state Senator for district to. Have been saying in, going on record as saying you've got fifteen thousand residents who've been forced. From their homes though and. At this point probably I is. Safe to say they, don't know when they're going back no idea there yesterday there, certain areas began to be repopulated, Kelsey Ville and Finley and Lake County began to be. Repopulated parts of Potter. Valley and Mendocino began to be repopulated and there was talk of lake port being repopulated soon And so the firefighters are really made a tremendous effort Near near more populated parts of of Lake County and. The fire is now growing into a section of land And just emptier areas, so that you know the way that they do their priorities is. They stopped the fire from destroyed homes immediately and, then they, work hard to. Establish containment lines near populated areas and then once that's been established and at thirty eight, percent that's fantastic improvement that's that tells us that most of Most of the areas, most of the fire near populated areas is actually got a hard. Containment line then then they begin to actually building the containment, lines in wilder. More sparsely or empty areas really so Soon in the next couple of days people will begin to come back to like port and upper lake and. And People have already come. Back to Kelsey Bill but and and, from what we're hearing so far there hasn't been a huge loss, of structures The, official count still says only ten homes have been burnt down and I it it sounds kind of. Cynical to say only but of course we've, seen in the last few years situations where hundreds, of homes were burnt down in a day And so now ten homes over the course of six days sounds not that bad. But the Cal fire hellfire, teams Cal fire special teams that go in and do. Inspections because you know depending on how badly, their homes have, been burnt down it's actually hard to tell exactly what happened there exactly what used to be there Cal, fire has special teams that go in there and those teams have not finished making their inspections in some places I don't think that the fires contained enough for them actually go in and make that. Inspections so the the numbers directors, destroyed to jump we're talking with Adrian Fernandez. Bowman who is managing editor of the Mendocino voice and I wanna invite collars especially up in the, region who may want to let, us, know what's going on and relate to us what you're experiencing up there. We do want to hear from you this is a half hour segment. So please. Feel free, to, join, us, now, now, it'd, be, infected, time. Or if you have, questions about the fires that are raging up there the Mendocino complex fire facing resources shortage and also facing the fourth wildfire consecutive fire four years in, a, row, let, me,.

"The live line as promised is Scott McLean from Cal fire good morning Scott Nice to have you with. Us again I know you guys are incredibly busy but there are new numbers just out with regard to the Mendocino complex fires can we start, there We're. Looking at a total of ninety thousand. Nine hundred twelve acres burned to date, again you all know where it's at but the container has gone up to. Twenty four percent again Yep Yep. And the ranch is it is, it a matter of conditions changing more firefighters on the scene Yes As we get? One So it's combination of. A, lot, of things unfortunately I what I'm hearing this for indie predicted weather of cooler weather is. Supposed to be starting Thursday has been pushed, back to the weekend so we have a lot of activity predicted on the fire, and these two fires the. River, and the ranch? Scott are they moving are they burning toward populated areas or away from Pretty much away from the. Force, we had the? Scared Kelsey Bill as well as Mike court yes We. Still have to be cognizant of the situation we still have to be ready. It's these fires is you will know I've been going in. Every which direction that they want to so I happen to. Everybody Attention Other, yet just that's all be working. Together, boy it seemed like you, know last October when we went through all of, this that at that time you and every other fire official we ever spoke with, said we've never seen anything like this and this year it seems like a very similar stance from fire, officials Yes I agree it's. We, were always saying last year, the new, normal the unprecedented or here. There's nothing new about it is just another chapter in the book? Sort of speed this year from. Just, looking at stats as well, above last year very significantly so last night we, had another fire yesterday afternoon he'll fire startup in mendota county again north of the, complex outsider Cobo eight eight hundred sixty five acres and is that a fire to be concerned about too I would be yes I know why scaring you buddy but it's still zero percent contained it started about three thirty, yesterday afternoon. If I remember correctly and then of course we. Can't let you go without talking. About, the car fire and the, numbers are, a little better there too. But what's the status in and around reading this morning Repopulating areas as a become safe so we're looking at a hundred and fifteen. Thousand five hundred thirty eight acres so it did go I. Bet that's dude of course the buyer actively on the northwest corner of this choice Louis. But probably also due, to some brain, operations so trinity county is is obviously very concerned. As that fire moves inward. Toward that area and as? You say the fire conditions weather, conditions are not helping with those high. Temperatures continuing now into the weekend and what about the wind we keep asking. About the wind Scott The wind. Is gonna be eradicated other. Words what I mean by? That is going to be changing direction It's going to start doing so even more with that low coming, in the later, part of this week but as the afternoons. Where on those wings will start, picking up. Here's an example the Bucs fired north west you the city Burned nine hundred acres last night and two hours, it's? All grass wow at luby's but that kind of gives you an idea how these things are moving yeah. It's just not the fire conditions but it's the way these fires, are burning that, seem to be so different this year right Right Yeah it's a challenging situation and hard to imagine what kind of shifts and what kind of workload these firefighters. Have Right the and the resources continue to come from out of state. Which, is fantastic sixteen states at this time have supplied us or are supplying us resource to combat all these fires In, our state of California. National, guard has always stepped up, as? Well so we're getting those resources that just takes time thank, God for that. And Scott thanks for checking in with us we sure appreciate it and and good luck moving forward Thank you all right that is. Scott McLean from Cal fire better news this, morning as we as we said in terms of containment as far as the Mendocino county, complex fires go the river and the ranch fires now having burned over ninety thousand acres twenty four percent containment that's a that's a significant rise since yesterday and we'll, keep our, obviously our eyes and our ears on. That situation throughout the morning the afternoon and. For as long as it lasts between Mendocino and. Lake counties and Shasta and trinity, counties firefighters have their hands full, and then some in. Northern California it's seven thirty nine Let's check, your traffic, for you Make sure we, get. To that part to Tom absolutely and now we're starting to see usual patterns develop with respect to highway one to one. Between rohnert park in Santa Rosa starting to fill up now starting, a Wilfred avenue golf course drive, then it opens up a bit but, as you get toward her, avenue then it slows down again all the way up to the twelve intersection, and through that to, college avenue Sebastian to Santa Rosa twelve eastbound the no problem there and coming from Glen ellyn through Kenwood. To Santa Rosa on twelve westbound. You're pretty much at the limit next update's going. To be at seven forty five now, Daniel true ceus with your forecast sunny skies for today at eighty, four sixty eight on the coast clear skies tonight low fifty three, mid eighties expected again for tomorrow but with partly cloudy conditions, and temperatures this. Morning still cool. Partly sunny skies in Santa Rosa, at this stage of the game. It's fifty five degrees in Guerneville In sonoma's fifty. To Santa Rosa..

"To have a, day to honor the mixed Brunner the Matz Matz yeah Looking at the roadways here we've got a slow on one zero. One northbound from. Basically Wolford avenue golf course, drive all the way up to about Todd road on the other side of the freeway though this is the interesting thing we've got the fire going on the grass fire one zero, one southbound. North of Todd road lanes. Are affected and there's a backup on southbound one zero one Almost from the highway twelve intersection because of probably that grass, fire other than that they were looking really good from Sylvester bowl to Santa Rosa twelve eastbound without a hitch this morning next report will be at eight fifty five Daniel is now your forecast Do you have warm temperatures for today topping out at eighty. Seven sixty eight, on the coast clear skies tonight low fifty three mid eighties expected for. Wednesday and Thursday, still sunny then and for Friday and Saturday but. Getting up to the, nineties fifty three degrees in Santa Rosa weather, brought to you by. Uptown optometry wanna see better visit uptown optometry in Santa Rosa or, go to uptown optometry dot, com it's eight forty six k SRO on the live line with us if from, Santa Rosa although, I don't think he's in Santa Rosa it's good to have. I have Paul with us this morning. Assistant Santa Rosa fire chief Paul Lowenthal. Good. Morning Paul where are you I am assigned to. The Mendocino fire you so yeah then bouncing back and forth between, the medicine on the Lake, County side yeah Obviously that's. An area that's close closer to home than the fire we've been, talking about for the last week the reading. Fire the, car fire and what are you seeing in Mendocino and lake counties this. Morning You know right now it's definitely been pretty smoky Unfortunately but our containment, percentages although small. Are still starting to, creep up which is good Right now the ranch fire over forty seven thousand acres and there's now. Ten percent contained and the river? Fire, is, twenty seven thousand six, hundred acres eight percent how close are these, fires together Paul Not they're they're, kind of difficult to say they're close close enough to manage effectively between the two but not close. Enough whether there's a concern about them merging okay very good but the yeah so the ranch fires, what was initially affecting Potter, valley and is moving up and around upper lake and the river fires the one that's caused the most recent evacuations of. Kelsey Ville and Finley outside of? Port Last night the fire was moving around dancing airfield Towards Kelsey, Bill and also to the west. Of lake port kind of into the Scotts creek so there's. Definitely a, lot of actor active fire last night This morning there's a significant amount of resources Continue. To pour. In lake and Mendocino, county, nuts that's good. That's very good news very very good news and I heard some concern from Scott McLean and Cal fire earlier this morning about what the weather. Might be like afternoon? Today in. That area is that concern too it is we are definitely concerned about the winds that essentially could push the ranch fire out of the forest, and back, towards upper lake and or the you know the general, direction of stern that's a really constructive. Ours but, I won't be the positive side you know there's a lot of really good. Work that was done on the river fire you know that I typically, fire activity is it came towards lake court and Kelsey Ville was was really knocked out pretty. Well by aircraft and crews on the ground so we're hoping with the sheer volume, of equipment that we have in place bit we'll be able to do really good work. And protect, those continue to protect those communities That's great yes absolutely. It's a little too familiar though isn't it Paul it is you know it's getting. You know like myself been to Lake County several times over the last several years and Gotten to know sheriff Martin from Lake County really well and not the way. Like to get to know him yeah you know. But having, they get to know him a lot. Of his style just from these fires that we've. Had over a year after, year after year but it, also helps us from, the coordination standpoint you know we know what we need to do we know where the needs are throughout the. Community we know where the shelters unfortunately that it keeps happening but you know it it's allowed us to really help these things move smooth and and get get people need met quickly and effectively and I also think that the learning curve must be in place here Paul because with all of the efforts that you and Tony GAAS Nur. And others have made over the course of the last almost ten. Months in. Terms, of. Of imparting the lessons learned here, in sonoma's? County, and how, the need, for additional, resources is, is imperative I can't imagine anything but that those conversations have made a difference As California continues to burn this July yeah even from a resource standpoint you know one of our type three engines which are wildland engine with on the car fire that was brought down here last night to lake Mendocino county to. Help with this because, this is where the neat Dr right now Not that they don't have needs? Up, there but we constantly but, resources around, and then we had another one of our fire engines engine to left last night and has also Mendocino county and do you have a handle on how many local firefighters are involved in these out of county fires Not total numbers we have a amount of Santa Rosa long. We have three engines and about a half by four or five what we refer to as overhead style Silky that'd be myself as a public information officer we have a couple of safety officers are those are really prefer to a dozer boss right so yeah we we're we're doing our part to help just like we receive the same. As, last. Year and we certainly hope that we have heard the last of any casualties of civilians or firefighters when, it comes to to the, blazes going, on statewide yeah absolutely. You know it is one. Thing that despite the sheer volume of of. Structures that we have threatened here we have not had the you. Know the loss of life I think You know that's probably to really, be so about you know, safe people, are being here were. Were definitely Watch out for one another you don't wanna see any tragic accidents, occur around, the state and really really impressed upon, the firefighters, is during the readings in the morning is You know be safe. You know do a good job but don't don't, do anything that's gonna put yourself in a. Position, where you could potentially have. Some sort of a significant. Event like that we wanna be safe who. Want, to be efficient but we want to put the. Fire out yeah all three of those things, we hope that's what we're. That's what we're rooting for here at home Paul thanks so much for, being with us this morning no doubt we will call on you again That is fire Marshall, from Santa. Rosa, Paul Lowenthal and a public information officer to now doing double duty in. Lake and Mendocino counties and I will. Say to that that Paul Lowenthal is one of the first responders who was so busy fighting the fires here, in October at the same time that he lost his own home and is in process of rebuilding, it's eight fifty three at. K. SRO whippy..

It is and lots of is all over the, northern part of California and I. Guess the entire state at this point three hundred, fires in play statewide wow is still hard to wrap our minds around but we will have the latest information. On those, closest to home and that would be the, Mendocino complex, fire in fact we'll talk about the evacuations in lake port Kelsey Bill a couple of other smaller communities to and there, is there are more resources on the way to Mendocino. And lake. Counties and we'll have the Scott McLean from Cal fire Tell us what's coming that's coming up All right and authorities are getting a better handle on the car fire in reading as some, residents get the word to go home and they're also we'll talk about the CHP. Five and let's check traffic. For you and a couple of grass fires. That we're. Trying to wrap our minds around this morning right here in sonoma's county Yup well one is on one zero one southbound north of. Todd road lanes are affected there the other one may have been controlled already because. It has been it has disappeared from my official high tech. List Jerry good Ma also slow going Wilfred avenue golf course drive northbound on one on one to about highway twelve it, actually eases up just, before you hit twelve but then once you get. Through the twelve intersection you're gonna find a lot of. Brake lights to college avenue this morning. Other than that. Two things are looking pretty good from Sebastian bowl to, Santa Rosa eastbound twelve at the limit next update will be at eight. Forty five now Daniel With. Your, forecast Warm temperatures continuing sunny today after, some morning clouds high eighty seven in Santa Rosa sixty eight on the coast could give bit warmer and certainly some warm spots, in the county clear skies, tonight low fifty three mid eighties expected for the next couple of days afterward around seventy. On the coast it's fifty three degrees in Windsor in Petaluma fifty three and fifty three degrees in Santa. Rosa as well it's eight thirty six at k. SRO we will start with the Mendocino complex fire burning in Mendocino. And lake counties the newest numbers this morning include over seventy, four thousand acres burn the combined ranch and river fires nearly doubled in size in a. Twelve hour period both remain collectively at about. Twelve percent containment as, of this morning seven homes are, gone several others ten, thousand in fact still threatened by that blaze and that has prompted. More, evacuation orders Scott McLean from, Cal fire says more resources Are on, the way Forty seven should be online Wednesday. Night or Thursday morning Cal fire has enter contract to, MBA seven jet tankers which is great news. Plus a DC ten so a DC ten now drops ninety six, hundred gallons of retardant and that's going to help things up there with roughly two thousand fire personnel. Battling those particular flames no injuries reported and no cause for the fire yet either at least six people are dead as the car fire rages near Redding, Shasta. County fire chief Mike he bread says the firefighters battling the blaze or. Part of the community all the folks.
