Skin can lays can have like a much better answer to that but my response would be to buy whatever and slap it of yourself. Because that's what i do and then pay. That's not the right shade kelly. I don't care. I blended it down to my nipples. We look like it is exactly it. Just go with it. Look at is really tricky. Good old carver times. It's a play on foundation and it matches your foundation shades to existing products. You already have so. You need to know your shade. And i think to existing foundations and then we'll tell you you're shading others so four also has an online diagnostics tool. I know we're talking. W and stuff like that. But sephora has a fantastic tool if you didn't want to do that. Some brands have their matching tools. So for example m beauty which is through big no The w would release the big place and there was a w they have their own tool on their website. So you can go on. Without what should i do. I've been hitting store or purchase online. Let's grab that shade. Mecca does give samples. I know that's not part of the question. But if you want perhaps look at investing because by the time i guess trial and error with the more affordable stuff you might go to make our get a little tiny. They'll give you a few skirts in apart that he can go home and try it. But i would believe it or not. You're look a bit strange. But i would take your existing foundations with you and hold up to the bottle because that's better than nothing. It's better than comparing to you. Skin on your hand on the skin on your face by holding up the bottom. That's really the closest you're gonna get on. It is trial and error yes. These are more affordable products knowing waste of money and product. If they don't

"Love it. i can't wait. I also wanted to just talk about while one hundred episodes in how stars like us as really changed my life. I've talked to some amazing people on this show. And there are some episodes that i feel forever moved by that there is a before and after where after that conversation with a certain guest i left with a completely different vantage than i had going into it. That opened my eyes. That also did that. Help facilitate my own personal healing and that informed my practice that has helped me sort of hone and and cultivate understanding of nebulous concepts that were too abstract for me to put into words so a hundred episodes in just incredible gratitude for our guests. Everyone who has taken the time to shoot their stories with us here. And i also just want to share one more thing which is that. The future of stars like us. Now that we are in the triple digits. This is our story to write. This is our podcast. This is a space that we can actively move in a direction that we need it to move in. We might find that we need to shift the conversations open it up talked to more people and even more practices beyond the metaphysical space. We might find that. We need to to narrow the focus and make it really a metaphysical proc metaphysical bot guys were. We are only talking to other practitioners. We can experiment. We can explore but your continued support sending me emails telling me what episodes you like. What guests you on the show sending mediums like. That's helpful information. Because i also appreciate your time as a listener. I don't take it for granted that at all. And i want the shows to be informative and helpful in meaningful and to make an impact in your life micro and macro so continue to be in dialogue with me. Tell me what you like about. Stars like us. What are your favorite episodes. Who do you want to hear on stars like us. What are the types of things you'd like to explore in this podcast in the space. Obviously you know maintaining hospitality and creating a welcoming environment for our guest always but adding onto that building on that. Where should we go. what should we explore. What should we do. I have so many amazing interviews lined up. That are going to go into the one hundred. But i'm always around. I'm always here. this is well. ironically. I'm recording this in real time. You're listening to this slightly after the real time recording but even still it's as real anna's sort of live as it is when it hits your ears as one. I'm recording this into my microphone right now. There is this symbiotic relationship between us communicating. You know there is a there. There's a fourth wall you know. There is a dialogue. There is a conversation happening that transcends just pressing play and to me that carries stars like us that compels me to wanna keep making these episodes and keep dealing with the technical stresses of connecting with people on zoom and hopefully in person again soon which will be so beautiful and maybe even we can do some live shows in the future that would be so fabulous and you can meet these people. I don't know i'm dreaming but it also seems possible anything's possible so for this one hundredth episode. I just wanted to be real with you. All take a moment to express gratitude to tell you why this experience has been like on my end and to let you know that not going anywhere stars like asses is going to very happily move now into the next one hundred episodes and i guess we'll see what happens over the next two years two thousand and twenty three. Wow okay well. I love you all. Thank you for listening. Thank you for your continued support. So a preciado your comment your review your five stars. It would mean the world to me but even more. Just thank you.

"In lieu of that often times what i have done and i recognize i've done is i want to reaffirm someone and make them feel welcome by giving them a lot. You know really going. Full leo on it and giving them as much as i can nodding agreeing verbally you know chiming in saying yes. I relate that wow great point this connects with this. Not because i wanna cut my guests off. Why would i wanna fucking do that. Because i want them to feel safe in one greeted a space. That feels hospitable. I want to create a space. It feels warm and not is really hard to do. Virtually the fatigue that. I know everybody feels from being in lockdown. For a year and lockdown being this nebulous concept that means different things in different places. But you know everyone obviously has had to change the way that they interact with people because of this global pandemic and this has showed up and really changed the way that stars like us functions changed the way that i interact with people in a lot of ways it has opened the doors to a lot more guests and a lot more areas than i was just moving back and forth between primarily new york in los angeles. I'm connecting people all over the world. Now thanks to zoom thanks to this technology and thanks to sort of the acceptance of this technology. But i've lost the ability to create an environment that i can make sure that my guests are comfortable and and i can read their experience in person in real time to know that. So if you've heard me interrupting or adding ally or sorta chiming in. I hear you. I i read the two comments that say that it hurts my feelings. But i'll receive it but i also want you listeners. Especially if you listeners. Who are annoyed by that. To know what's going on and that stars like us is a really important and sacred extension of my practice because it is my ability to open my arms and my doors and the microphone people from different places around the world different practices different ideas different experiences. Different traumas different joys. Different ways of being alive and my message and my mission is that there are these beautiful shared experiences that we can find when we listen to other people when we have these conversations when we get to know about different people's journeys their mythology their practices. And that's what i'm going to continue to do in stars like us and everywhere that i can you know that is that is an ethical principles to me something that i truly believe so if you have felt that i need to be a better listener i hear you. I will make note. But i also want you to know why stars like us is but first and foremost a safe space for our guests. Anna safe space for our listeners. And i want to continue to make sure that. However i need to show up in those dialogues reading. Somebody virtually and making sure that they feel safe to be able to share their story with us. I'm going to do it. So i guess i had to get that off my chest. Thanks for listening. Hello friends league here. in 'perfect stars like us fashion. I wanted to take a moment introduce you guys to well just some real talk surrounding beauty skin care and all things sort of acetic realness so i know that my skin care and beauty routines have changed pretty dramatically In the past year. No thanks to this. Global panini But the cool thing is is that i started taking a lot more risks with the types of products i use and how i use them because i have time to experiment and i wanna introduce you guys to accompany. That has come on radar in the past year and it's called thrive cosmetics Through medics creates high performance award winning vegan cruelty free beauty products that actually support ethical causes. And there's a pawn in the name because it's not cosmetics. It's 'cause medics c. A. u. s. e. cosmetics which is really super. Cute thrive makes high-performance products which basically means that they are built to work the highlighting stick actually highlights and it lasts the lip treatment. Actually moisturizes and it hydrates. And obviously i have not seen anyone in person in three thousand years. But i can confirm that every time. I wear this skara in my instagram stories. Or during one of our covid meetings. I'm very flattered by receiving. Lots of compliments on my i make up so even in this virtual world this lash magic really does make a noticeable difference it makes me feel good and we love that so perhaps most importantly the thing that really says thrive apart is that they care For every product dr cosmetics. "Hi everyone. Welcome back to stars like us. I'm your host. Eliza kelly and this is a very special episode of stars like us Celebrate tori episode to recognize one hundred episodes. This is the one hundredth episode of this podcast. And because. I'm a sentimental bitch. I decided to just take some time to share my reflections of this journey with you. All and to express my deep gratitude for two years of listenership hundred episodes of listenership. Thank you all so much for being on this journey with me and for creating a safe space to explore so many of the challenging topics that we discuss on stars like us to greet our guests with humility and hospitality open mindedness and to share this space with other practitioners creatives. Artis just interesting people. I really appreciate all of you and your open-mindedness and your willingness to hear about such diverse topics in what is billed as an astrology. Podcast to me. Astrology is so much more expensive than just the study of iconography and symbolism and birth charts. Even it's about connectivity s- about all of us doing all of us you know it's about the spirit and the celebration of an individual all as part of the collective and all of these things working together in these micro and macro ways weaving into each other so poetically so elegantly and not is what this podcast has transformed into for me and hopefully for you to it certainly way back in two thousand and nineteen started with a lot more structure in terms of okay. I wanna talk about this astrological topic. I wanna deep dive into this house or this planet or the zodiac sign and as a byproduct of my own growth practitioner but also external circumstances. Vis-a-vis no longer being able to connect with gas person. The show naturally started to transform and i moved with that transformation i evolved with it and i'm very grateful for all of you for continuing to grow with this show hundred episodes in if you like this show i want to encourage you. Please leave a nicer review. Leave five stars. It really does make a difference. I was just on the page where i was looking at the reviews and i saw that i got some rude ones and it really hurt my feelings. Not because i can't handle some criticism. Not that my. Dm's are a happy place where no one ever says nasty shed and i don't have to deal with trolls but because the feedback that i got the comments were saying that. I don't let my guess talk now. That really really hurt my feelings. And i take that and you know i really do and i will be mindful of that moving forward but i just want to explain a little bit. Technically about what challenges. I faced with having to move the show into zoom. Basically when you're in person with someone as the show started there is a lot that happens in body language energy. There's a lot that happens when you're just connecting face to face with someone and you can read them and you can make sure that they feel comfortable with what they need. You need a glass of water you know you want a snack like are you comfortable in your chair. Do you have everything like. Let's do a test. does it sound good to you. That hospitality is so important to me. Because i take my role as a host of the show very seriously when someone is spending their time talking to me and recording episode. That's going to be listened to by thousands of people. I wanna make sure that they feel comfortable. And i also wanna make sure that they know that if they say something stupid that i'm going to edit it out that there's no reason not they need to feel stressed out about this experience that it is a safe environment for them to share and i really wanna make them feel welcome. Unfortunately when everything had to move. Virtually my rule i suppose of wanting all of my episodes to be recorded in person. Went out the fucking window and suddenly everything had to be virtual. And we've been able to do an entire year's worth of stars like us episodes. Virtually and for that. I am very grateful. There's been a lot of things that have been lost I've lost the ability to connect with someone physically and be in space with them and make they feel welcome in the environment that we're in that were occupying together. Make sure that you know to chitchat. Before we begin to set the scene to just bring a certain ease so that they know that. I'm not judging them. No listeners are judging them and that they understand the tenor of the show. So virtually for the past year. A lot of the time. Most of the time. When i'm connecting with our guests i'm connecting with them for the very first time and meeting them on zoom. Obviously it's kind of awkward for everyone. There's the technical blunders of mike's not working or being connected to the wrong source and the videos not working or you know us not being able to capture the audio but most importantly the vibe of this is a safe space. Stars like us is about Bringing things down dropping things down making them grounded and at hopefully offering a platform for honest dialogue. I can say that verbally. And i do say that. But i'm not able to convey that energetically through my body language through the environment and through. All of these other cues that are so important for for getting to know somebody and for feeling like you had a good experience so.

"You know we have so many different option now options to give our body back to the earth in ways that aren't going to damage it but actually nourish it and i think that's another really attractive feature of what's going to be coming in the next two hundred years So i'm really excited about moving away from the greediness. The capitalism empowering people to do it on their own like diy type stuff and then really getting into the green aspect of repealing. The earth with us as it was originally intended. Yeah absolutely i mean. How much does spirituality embed itself in your work and nine. Do you feel spiritually connected with the body. The soul is there a separation of those two. Are they the same i mean. How does these. The sort of mystical musings tie into the work that you do experiencing the dying atmosphere so the atmosphere that a person is dying and most of us go unconscious for a while before we die so that unconscious dying space that we enter. That is a psychic space spiritual space a space that people need the right atmosphere to navigate. They need to feel safe. They need to feel grounded energetic presence around them at that point we really are communicating with them on a different level. They might not be hearing us. We might not even be in the same room but they can feel kind of that. Were there and so. It's a very mystical experience. To see kind of what comes from any individual dying person as their in not unconscious in the energy that becomes around them and the energy that we also contribute So i really think that's the spiritual aspect of it. Obviously it's very hard to prove this. But this i've seen thousands and thousands of people die and i see what they go through and it. It's almost like they don't even know when they're taking their last breath. I don't think people have this inner dialogue of my god. I just stopped breathing. I think they just comfortably and energetically move on and death is often more peaceful than people realize. You know it's interesting. Because in my work i will hear and i have the privilege of working with thousands of people as well so i have a pretty decent sample size on this of people who have told me that when a loved one has passed and this is also in my own in my own family. This is true when my level when a loved one is passed that they even if they're not in the same environment same city that they will hear a message from their loved one something reassuring usually or soothing or really personal really poignant and then they'll get a phone call that that person has crossed over. Is that something that you've also experienced. Absolutely it goes both ways to it might be someone who is like earthbound. They kind of get the message that someone has died and then they find out they're died it also might be someone who is dying and actually getting a message from somebody who's already crossed over. They might be coming to visit them and this happens i literally. It's a high percentage. I'm gonna say like eighty five. To ninety percent of the time they start to have some kind of lifting of the veil where they can look through and talk to people who are already deceased and also. I think they can send psychic messages to living as well. They're very powerful. Yeah when my grandmother started to have dementia few years ago and my grandmother prior to her dementia. Was you know really active. Like in two thousand sixteen we are going to clubs and new york city and then i saw i saw her sort of dipping in and out and i started to see that something was changing. Now it's you know pretty severe She's ninety one and for the past few years. My grandfather who passed away. When i was seventeen has been more and more of an active person in her life. And you'll ask how side doing have you seen have and i'm like no have you. And she's like no. I haven't knows when was the last time you saw him and she was like a few months ago. But it's like he's around you know and it's been just an. When she was still living at home she would be looking out the window waiting for him to come back and she was quite certain that she was going to see him and it does see him in this way like my grandfather and her seeing him but the not seeing him and asking how he is and like being like does anyone in contact with him. You know like anyone know what's going on with grandpa. is kind of this interesting. Harboring are of her own passing right and it's like the more that she's in that state the less physically present she is and the more she talks about her husband. My grandfather who's not here and has been berle longtime the more that she. I see her sort of move into this other state of mind. Yeah you're right. That's the first step that people take when they're in their the beginning stages of process which typically the dying labor process takes about one to three months but the withdrawing and then the sort of the connecting to the other side whether it's through sleeping ally or actually seeing and hearing things that are coming to them. I obviously don't know what it is. But it's very mystical. And like i said dying people they become more psychically powerful in in ways. That are hard to understand. It would probably take a lifetime of work to maybe get a glimpse of the truth on that. Yeah that's so beautiful. So how do you reconcile seeing thousands of people die. Is that something that's comfortable for you. I'm very comfortable around us. You know.

"Was a fan of as a child that i get to interview as an adult and it's even cooler if they're listener of the show. That's always that moment where they're a fan of yours and you were along a fan of theirs I'll close. Because i know you have other things to do How're your kids. How's your husband. And what do they think about this. Whirlwind of the last five years i think for acting you know my family is great. Thankfully and i've said this to particular not not to be sexist. But i think women have a particularly great poll to be with their children as they're growing up They're they're better. Like i was looking at my family unit recently thinking it's really well it's healthy and my kids are well and my relationship with my husband is great and like my kids. Behavior is good in the family. And it's very much intact and i thought you know what like it wasn't always as good when i was at the kelly file not seeing my children any day monday through friday and always stressed out. Always i mean like that was the toughest thing about the trump time but then roger ailes things that happen. You mentioned that bombshell movie. Which in large part depicts the events correctly. It was very stressful. And you know you try not to bring that home your family. But i'm only human and Now unhappy and i've been with them. you know. i left fox in january of seventeen. My kids were seven. Five and three. So i hadn't missed it and i've been totally present for it and It's awesome you know. I'm not you know. It's got a downside. It's not like i don't need to go a twenty four seven but i do need to be present and i'm enjoying it. They're enjoying me. I just think like sometimes that little voice in the back of your head saying you need to fix it not seeing them enough room you to listen to all our via followed your career. I've felt like. I have a very good understanding of what drives you in what we have seasons in our lives right and and as a young woman you were extremely ambitious and then you achieve this and this happens to many women this happened. My wife was rick. Perry secretary of state at the very time that our kids needed her most and that's why she she was happy to come home afterwards. There is that moment where you get it all especially as a woman you get it all and then and then everything's in place and the kids are going great. Mommy but could you just spend more time at home. And then there's this crashing of the times so you have to take a few years off there and you know may maybe. That was the season you've been in in. You're ready to engage. It's totally understandable. That's exactly right. And but re engage in a way that works for my life. you know. i'm the podcast studio is in my house. I can do it when i when it works for me and my family and i'm raising production company..

You've interviewed a lot of people including vladimir putin donald trump obviously privately and publicly on air and lot of others. But when you're being interviewed is that something you look forward to or is it something that you're self conscious because you spend so much time asking the questions rather than answering. I'm enjoying it more and more. I'm sort of in the business now. More of sharing my opinions. I have two cats. And so. I'm i'm just enjoying not having to be so careful about what i say. And kinda just let rip. So i would say the same way. Dana perino once told me that she crossed over from wanting to be the one talking about the news. You being the one asking the news. I feel like i might be having the opposite. Well we'll talk about that in a moment The question that you asked that was written as megan kelly in the question that changed her life forever. You talked about that being Being the subject of the story like an alice through the looking glass moment in that takes us back to the question that you ask of donald trump and of course his reaction during the first debate And that date was. I had it in front of me. It was back in august. Two thousand five hundred sixty thousand fifty six. I was reading in august seventh report. The question that changed her life forever. did that. change your life forever. i think it did. Yeah actually he did. I mean it was All the weird fall out. And how mad trump god and you know it's just it was such a crazy reaction to what was obviously a tough question but no tougher than the ones i had for carson scott walker. I mean they all got it right in the face that night. The presidential debate But you know trump being trump into thing and then it was a thing for nine months. "So what what would you say is the guiding philosophy of the show. You talked a little bit about it but like that first meeting here's what I wanted to be. Here's what I, what I want to get across because to me you strip everything away not just from yourself from your guests where they feel like I'm GonNa Tell Kelly, this story I might not tell somebody else or I'm GonNa talk about this dark period in my life or this thing that I'm going through. So what did you say your producers when you started? Yeah It's funny. I walked into this this first meeting about possibly doing the talk show and I was telling them like it's got to be transparent. Just I want us to lean into me not an formula. We're GONNA do it like I think that's GonNa work and they agree they were beloved involving the music because I was I think it. Whatever they were like Oh politics or love or You know I can't even run all the bubbles. All the bubbles were all these kind of things subjects. Glad, she didn't know how hard it was. She kind of went in blind and said I'm just going to be myself not only did it succeed but she won the Emmy in her first year out for best talk show host. "We couldn't get his permission. So. We name it like Papa. Papa. Jan jan. All right. So are Kelly. We've spoken about R Kelly. I find are Kelly to be first of all very interesting foil to what's going on with Michael Jackson. Because people have no problem accepting the reports, the allegations documentaries about our Kelly. Everybody takes that at face value. You know, we've all kind of come together and said, you know, what our Kelly's kind of eft up, dude, let's not support him anymore. Michael Jackson is different the people the the amount of defending and not just well, it's one thing to defend Michael Jackson. But there's there's an active campaign. It's this really vicious very vicious people who do not like differing opinions. It's just it's a reminder to like how huge Michael Jackson people love like. Yeah. Really nothing else even comparable, right? And all the maybe the thing is it's like all the Beatles. Squeezed into one person. Right. That's true. Right. One super Sol him, he's a one man show. Right. And he's got this story of being a victim. People don't want to think that this person could do horrible stuff. I didn't want to for a long time. I was like listen away. Yeah. Certainly me too. I was always on the fence with Michael Jackson. But before we get into that. Let's first talk about our Kelly because he was in the news. He did his first interview since you know, being accused and people started cancelling his shows and. Taking them off the radio. There was a documentary about it. The was the catalyst for all this again, an interesting foil to Michael Jackson who was a great documentary. What was it called leaving? Or or know something about surviving aren't there, yet surviving or Kelly? It was fantastic documentary. Basically alleging that he has a harm really of girls living with him. Who again, they're not being chained up. But they're being manipulated. They're being I mean brainwashed for lack of a better word. So it's not like they can't go walk out. But there's it's abuse. It's so certainly abuse. There's no question about it. But at any rate, I mean, it's hard to explain the, but go ahead and watch this clip where he's defending himself for me. My crazy passing what I've been through. Oh, right now, I just think I need to be lost and hold girls against a wheel chain them up in my basement. And and don't let them eat and don't let them out unless they need some shoes down the street from the ankle, Eddie Murphy. He's acting. It sounds. It's like Eddie Murphy bit is that is that some detail in the story that I'm unaware of such a weird aside. And I don't recall them ever saying he chained anyone up either. You know, what I mean like that's part of kind of. Yeah. It's like, wait. What is what he does is? He makes every anecdote more extremes. It'd be like, oh, I never did that making a mockery of it by like, yeah. Make it so crazed so hyperbolic that it's obviously. Yeah. But people nobody believes are Kelly. So it's kind of. "None of time. I mean, I mean people survive to hold downs. But but I mean, I think even the people who survived him don't drown think while they're happening that they're going to drive. So can you guys control your heart rate the way Kelly asserted? I think if you're underwater for long enough, you don't really have a choice, you might panic, but the choices calmed down and wait or freak out. What does that even mean? First of all, it's not my heart. Wait, I'm worried about is about as my loss of Spink control, quite frankly. Messing up my wet suit. I'm just curious to say, well, you're now in a sort of Mixmaster crashing wave. But keep your heart rate rate down. How's that even possible? Don't you think you can? Slow your heart down when you're scared in big ways. I mean there times you can't you're panicking. And then it gets more serious. I find an I just get really really methodical. I think it's when you accept that you're in an area where you have to do that. It's when you're you can actually come yourself talking about. Okay. What you're saying? Is you make peace with death? Right. On the spot. And then if you come out that fun as Kelly said, you go for the next ride, and you know, that it's going to eventually end, but you just hang out from it. So I'm just curious when you have wiped out is it just total turbulence down there. It's incredibly turbulent. So there's a couple of things that are happening when you wipe out. I you saw when somebody falls on a wave that big again this is way outside of my zone surfing. But when somebody falls on wave that big they skip off the surface. I so that knocks the window to your lungs. That's really fast. And then you get driven down deep in the ocean in super turbulent area. Whitewater that whole white mess where the wave breaks is much less dense than regular ocean water. You can't propel yourself through it. Exactly. So you can't really swim. Very well. And so that's why you really have to relax because until the the array in the water dissipations, you can't really swim service anyway. So you you'll grab your leash.
