"6 in this roster and that's Johnny cardozo. Played four games for the U.S.. All friendlies. One of them was a start, I believe, by no means has played a competitive game, a big game of this magnitude for the U.S. miss nationally. If Johnny gets hurt, you've got no nominal 6s. It would have been to the benefit of Anthony Hudson and his team to have a player like Kellen Acosta who's tried and proven World Cup experience a master of the dark arts and shit housing. And then also a dead ball specialist. It just made sense there. I don't understand why he didn't do that. Now you have to hope Johnny cardos is the man. One, and he stays healthy too. What do you think? Why do you think both sergeant and Kelly Costa were left out of the roster? Well, Kellen cost I believe he's trying to separate the two and give it to the gold cup. Still, you should cover because the defensive midfielder. And when it comes to Josh Sargent, it has to be injury concerned because it has to be it's been on a tear. It has to be negotiated on the chair since before the World Cup after the World Cup. He's a player that's in good form. I would assume it's injury concerned even though he played yesterday. Yeah. I mean, again, going back to Costa has been actually really good for the national team. It's not that he has only been good for LAFC, big reason why they're current chance, Major League Soccer champs, but whenever you needed someone else to come and give a hand in midfield, that was always getting a Costa. Yeah. That was bear holders go to guy. Whenever you need it, you need an fresh set of legs, good arm ball, good off ball. Yeah, that was a big, big surprise. Now, on the show, we've spoken highly of following balagan. And we've recounted his goals. He's doing great in France. He was not called up by England and the question now bears is there a possibility that he joins the U.S. miss national team in the future. This is what Anthony Hudson had to say about him. With flow, all our say, Tom is that there's been there is open dialog with him and his team. And that dialog is continuing and that's all I can say on that one. Okay, and then after

"We go. Gaga solo Lena in the back. Tolkien, by the way, I want to see my man. I want to see that mullet running down the left hand side. I want to see what he's got. I know what Jonathan Gomez. Listen, I know what jogo has got. I want to see what this kid has. I want to see him up close and personal here in LA. I will be there. Walker's Zimmerman, Jalen Neil. There's a reason they brought this kid up. He's not playing much with the galaxy if at all is what those but I want to see what this kid is about. The John Jones. Very interesting for me. He can play both sides. Let's put him on the right right now. He impressed me and you guys will see this interview. With his mentality, probably the best mentality we had or we experienced in that MLS media day. I don't know if you agree with me on that one, but I thought it was a bull of yo. Kellen Acosta, you need a veteran, you need somebody who's going to be defensively sound because the two in front of them. Yeah. A little bit of a two way but mostly offensive and that's a Paxton errands and little brother of yes, Brendan aaronson, one of the better prospects of the region. And Alan sonora. And I'll mention him in a bit right now, but I'm very intrigued of what he's about. What he can do, huge opportunity for him. Kate Cal on the left hand side. I'm going with some speed. Brandon Vasquez. I think it's pretty much your has to be the starter number 9. You gotta see what he's about. On the right hand side. So both wingers are inverted with the ability to run at you one more vertical. The other more shifty. But send that guys keep an eye on everybody thinks he's out now winner, excuse me. He's not. He's a central player who's found himself on the wing and been very successful. I like what you've done here. I definitely want to see Gaga so Nina for sure, so I like that you started him and you put the World Cup guys there in the spine, right? Walker Zimmerman, Kellen Acosta, so that should. I did. Solidify things with all the new moving parts around it as we take a look at perks ideal. U.S. men's national team starting 11 for the January camp friendly against Serbia on Wednesday, the 25th. "Christian political I've enjoyed Timothy way. I think to me the way is coming into his own this World Cup and he has a breakout tournament for him. Josh sergeant is that hybrid I mentioned to you. He's the one that can give you that physical presence, but also stretch the line and his intelligent enough with his movement. I think he's the most talented 9 in the pool. I go with him again. I know Haji got the start against England. I go back to the well which I sergeant and I think he could do something for me. But the big question mark for me is Weston McKinney. Okay, let me put it to you this way. Greg berhalter. Knowing what he knows, which is more than us, says nah, Weston's a 100% he's good to go. He's in your starting 11, correct? Or are you still going with the Costa? I like Acosta in this type of matchup. Let me throw this at you. But Weston seems to have actually looked better physically in the second game than the first. But western's a player that I know what I can get at them. And if you look physically better and you're thinking of physically, he's back in there. I know he missed that chance versus England. But he is that guy. Box the box contagious with his work rate gets everybody around him going technical soft and he gets on the end of things. He's got a knack for arriving late into the box, which is very valuable. So I would go with Weston. There is a huge question mark there for me. So it's a customer Weston, but I do not mind the cost of one bit in this game. There's a couple guys you've left on the bench. Maybe you can explain that easily. But I saw your face when you had to make the way up Brendan aronson decision. How tough was it for you to not necessarily? Yeah, not tough in this one because I think there's going to be a high line that he can. Okay. So not tough in that this one. But just in general, leaving Brendan nerds enough any list. Gives me the heebie jeebies. I don't like to do as bad juju. Gio Reynolds, a sub in this one. And an early sub. Okay. You've got to get him. I think there's a space for Georgia early in this game where the game is going to be transitioned into the game's going to be open and you start thinking to yourself and Jill rayna, he could take advantage of this, put him in the midfield, put him on a wing, put him wherever you want. Get him on the ball most importantly. And I think he could do something special. He's that player for me. But I don't know about starting them. If you've not really played him and I was starting them now, I mean, especially after everything Greg berhalter has said and everything that we have heard, the rumors going around. I think you get him out early. Last question based on the lineup you put out there. Who's taking your set pieces? Because now you got Kellen Acosta. Costas on the field over Christian political is that what you're asking? Yeah. It's killing the Costa. Really? Yeah, he's more consistent. Even though Biden was set pieces were much better second game. Well, that's because the bar was so low the first game. That's why they look better in a second, but kellan Acosta, when both players have been healthy, he would be the guy I go with. I think it's more consistent in a set piece delivery. All right, so we've seen hercs 11. Let's take a look then at the Group B standings and where everybody sits after two

"Let's put a lot of crosses on top of this guy. You know, there's one thing when you go, when you make that move, you know, from MLS to England. One of the biggest differences is the quality of crosses. And the consistency, the way they're whipped in, and then how the split second decision making has to be made for you to come out or not come out. And you know, I mean, Matt, I know great shot stopper. You know, I like the way you read the body. Would have loved to have seen him head that ball a little bit wider and not give a not force Kellen Acosta into having to take a yellow card in the hope that for Wales that Gareth Bale could hit the midfield bomb, but I think it was, it was decent. But he could improve. All right, one last thing for you here, Casey, how do you think the U.S. then having seen what England did today against Iran putting up those 6 goals in the 6 to two win? How does this U.S. team now with a point in the bag approach that game against the England? Because I think there's probably some U.S. fans that are pretty worried that that could get out of hand. And if you're O one and one, that's not a good spot to be after two games. It's going to be a little different because obviously that first half. And I think we all assumed in that first half that the U.S. was going to have a lot of possession against Wales. That is not going to be the case against England. It's going to be a different mindset on how the team approaches defending and defending against a team that is significantly more explosive in possession than this Welsh side. That can beat you on the dribble. They can beat you over the top. And not only that, extremely dangerous office set pieces as well. So multi headed attack still, I think the U.S. has the players. They have the physicality to also hit England on the counter attack at times. I think if there was one little piece, one little Achilles heel on this English side, I think they can get, they can get at the defense when they're pushed up in possession if they make a poor pass. So, but it'll be a completely different look than we saw today. And in some ways, it's almost a little bit different than 2014. You know, 2014, you get the three points against Ghana, then the point against Portugal. And you're like, okay, just don't get hammered by Germany and you've got a really good chance of going through. So this is almost that little bit opposite. Instead of playing Germany in the last game, you're playing that team in the second game. And you're almost going, look, if you can steal a point brilliant. But in the end, if you can keep that to one nil and then know you're going up against Iran who has to play better than they did against England. And give yourself an opportunity in that last game. Now, by all means, don't be afraid of England. Don't go into the England game thinking, okay, just pack it in with 11 and because they're so much better than us. By no means, but definitely be a little bit more conservative in that match and make sure you don't do it Iran did. Concede that first goal open yourself up and before you know it, it's the game's away from you. All right, there he is. Casey Keller, Casey, great to have you with us here on football Americas and herk and I will see you in what, about 90 minutes on ESPN FC. Thanks again. All right guys. Harry is Casey Keller. What

"That they don't get the white pieces and move first, which is always an advantage. So I think that head coach Gregg berhalter did so many things right. I thought his lineup choices were right. I thought both the progression shape, the seal shape, all of it, was incredibly impressive and largely spot on for those first 45 minutes. The fact that he did not make a change, either a sub or a tactical adjustment. For me, it was a mistake and it gave whales an opening to get back into it. Dial was the 66th minute where alter finally made his first change, Brendan aronson coming on. With Weston McKinney, we saw him sort of holding his groin in the first half, struggling at times. So whether it was tactical or not, he made that change. And then he made a triple change in the 74th minute Haji Wright Kellen Acosta and Deandre yedlin all coming on. What do you make of sort of the way he reacted to what Wales brought? I thought they were the right moves. I thought that came about ten minutes too late. I'm generally a proponent of making earlier subs, especially when you have guys who are carrying knocks. And especially in this era of having 5 subs, you spend them first, change the game first, especially because to speak to the Welsh adjustment. They brought in key for more, right? It wasn't anything masterful from the Welsh coach. They brought in a 6 foot 6 dude and started launching long balls to them over our press. And that pushed our back line deeper because they were dealing with him and then dealing with knockdowns. Stretched us out a little bit, but it also stretched them out. And that's why the U.S. had so many opportunities to get on the ball in space and drive the game forward. I guess a backpedaling defense, which they didn't have in the second half. The other thing that Wales did was they brought the press to Zimmerman and ream. Because Zimmerman and ream were really hurting them in the first half, especially with those long balls into the channel for Timmy waya. He was always attacking that space in behind. And not just on the goal, but a lot of it was like direct play from the back because the Welsh front line, like Gareth Bale doesn't not press. He is not going to spend his energy closing down opposing center backs. Although he tracked a couple times. There's a difference between pressing and tracking. Difference between pressing when it's scoreless and tracking when you're down a goal. And so that did end up changing the game. And I thought the changes that berhalter made were the right ones. In terms of getting players who could punish whales when they were trying to build out of the back themselves.

"Wingers into an 8. I think this is why her guy like Tim wea is so important that he gets back to health and back to form for the U.S. men's national team because he is a difference maker out wide. And if you have a Tim wea, then it allows you to whether it's a Brendan aaronson, true or a geo Renault or I don't know. Would you even maybe put Christian Pulisic into that conversation? You've got guys out wide who you can move centrally if indeed you don't have a Weston McKinney. I will pull back the curtain here 'cause I want people to know that your first choice was actually Kellen Acosta, right? Before you change to Brendan aronson, you've obviously been speaking out loud choice. Right. You've obviously pointed out why you would go with aaronson over Acosta. What was it about Acosta's game that made you pick him first? Because he was actually the first person that I thought of as the closest thing to a like for like. 'cause I went closest thing to a like for like, but then I realized there is no like for like for Weston McKinney and everything that he could provide for you and Kellen Acosta's a very good insurance policy. He is. And he's a very good player to plug in there if you need to close out a game, or if you want to have more of a defensive posture and there is no better player at Brown and mossy housing in all of Concacaf than Kellen Acosta so I am therefore these games that he does are deploys, but you need something else at the World Cup level. You can't just be all defendant absorb. You need to have a player with creativity. And you have a player that has a good work but you need to have somebody that can produce something sometimes out of nothing because that will be the difference in these games when it's so tightly contested. That's a Brennan aaronson for me. He just seems to be one of those guys that the U.S. Jersey comes on and there seems to be a little cape flowing behind him. He comes up for these big moments. All right, David Harris in the YouTube chat says at this rate, hurt might get the call up to go to Qatar with all of the injuries. No doubt about that. The injuries certainly starting to pile up or at least this weekend it really felt like they did for the U.S. men's national team. I've seen you run around. I know you still got it in you. "Shocked if someone came and said, hey, we'd love to get signed Ricky pooch. Yeah, you're going to tell me that galaxy would let that prize asset go. Knowing that you can't find those players, those players don't just fall onto your lap, and then you say, well, I'm going to sell them for 10 million. What is that? If you said 25, 30, 35 million, then you'd say, go ahead. We'll reinvest. But I think for the amount of money that they would receive for Ricky pooch right now versus what he could do for the club moving forward and getting back to winning trophies and silverware, you're not moving off of that. With you. When I'd say the revs had a shot at MLS cup, if they didn't sell buxa and tejon Buchanan and they did, that's part of what these clubs are. That's what they do. Charlie, I know you're going to do Champions League next week. So I'll get you warmed up here. Mate, when the head's been tanned, the head's been turned by a big club in a big league top four wave league I'm talking about a big club. Sometimes there's nothing you can do with the player. The player has to go. Between that and Charlie is Jamaican. I'm gonna give you edge to Charlie's Jamaican all day every day. That was a good attempt. That was better than Bobby warshaw. Thank you. So I'll give you that. By the way, here's a good note from the cell traffic code from the LAFC perspective. We'll talk about them more, of course, leading into the Conference Finals. Awesome gesture ahead of tonight's game according to geo Garcia, hosts a great podcast about LAFC and the galaxy. Apparently, Kellen bought tickets for the entire back office staff of LAFC at the training facility, kitchen folks, janitors, et cetera, all the people that were in the back making things tick. I thought that was a really cool gesture from Kellen Acosta. Top, top man from Kellen. Good stuff there. All right, we talked a little bit about galaxy post mortem. You talked about poosh there. And the supporters shield prediction, I didn't hear, but I'm intrigued by. Chicharito obviously back, he had the option triggered by his goal scoring form. Is going to be back unless they sell him three more years on that deal. I can not see them selling him on with Charlie on that. Because they have to show their fans that they're serious. This is like the first time back in the postseason in a long time. Like if they want to be the galaxy again, they need Ricky pooch, a 100%. Here's what Greg vanny had to say. Ultimately, I think 2022 was a big step forward. We've been trying to rebuild the team over the past couple of years and I think we've taken big steps forward over the past couple of years to rebuild the group. I think we've created a vision now of how we want to play. It's exciting attacking soccer and we want to have a lot of the ball and we want to have a group that's connected and believes that it can win championships and we can get the club back on top.

"Well, I didn't have more than send there. You hadn't played more with the national team than he has. He hasn't played at all. Oh, hold on. Hold on. World Cup cycle. I had zero games in the World Cup cycle at some buttel had zero games in the World Cup cycle. Robbie Finley had zero games in the World Cup cycle. This would not be a stretch if you look at the depth. Now, it's a stumper column. You've got to see what you can do. And you give them a fighting chance. Given the fact that it's a September column, right? You only call them up if you think he has a chance to make the team, right? You don't have the opportunity or time to waste. There's no future here. This is legit only if he has a chance to make the team. What percentage would you put that at? Right now, if you look at Alejandro's in there, because you just listed off all these players in midfield because you don't consider a winger. What percentage chance would you put it at? I would put it at zero. I would put it at 0% that he makes the team. Either as a winger or a midfielder. We can go through that. Can I be honest? Yeah. He's got more of a chance than I did for the 2010 World Cup before the crazy circumstances that led to me getting on that flight. I mean, because if you look at everything that happened, Eddie Johnson was injured. Charlie Davis Davies got an unfortunate car accident. Every striker that bob Bradley had. For some reason, ended up falling out. It was like a crazy turn of events that got me there. I think he's got more of a fighting chance than I did in that time. Okay, let's look at some of the guys. You mentioned the midfield, right? Weston McKinney Tyler Adams, Eunice Musa, Luca Della Torre. You didn't mention Kellen Acosta roll. I mean, he's not, he's not really going to get, he's not going to break into that, is he? And he's certainly not going to break it out. 26 players, right? And you're going to look at players that can offer you what? Versatility versatility? Yeah, but out wide, it's aronson, politic ray in a way areola. Any of those guys. Because now you have a player that can play two positions, multiple positions, and I think he's very good as an interior. Now, whether he takes him or not, I don't know, but if he takes him, I think he's got a fighting chance of getting him that flight. All right, what about the other perspective here, which is Zendaya, 'cause I'm thinking about this from the choices that he has, which are obviously U.S. or Mexico. If you were going to advise him, which would you advise him to pick, looking at the death threat, you just went through with the United States and thinking about what the competition is with Mexico. IE, which team needs him more 'cause I think it's pretty clear it's Mexico. It is Mexico. And maybe even for this World Cup, what they got Corona out. You're looking at urban Pineda, you're looking at Diego lioness and you're looking at Alexis Vega and that's it. After that, that is going to be. And if you think about midfield, like you said, he's versatile. Maybe he can play midfield. On this one, I will barely got registered for Betty's. Hasn't played in what? Three weeks? Almost a month. So there you go. There's a crisis building in that in that Mexican midfield.

"Great when he's been on the field, but his presence maybe has been more noticeable when he has not been on the field. Yeah, and so talking about him this month, it's actually kind of counterintuitive because it's clearly his worst moment of the season. Because he's missed a couple of games. And by the way, when he misses games, it turns out that LAFC gets absolutely smoked, which is what happened. This past weekend in Austin. And it goes back to all the stuff that kalyn was talking about in terms of his ability to get on the ball and be a problem solver for LAFC in possession. He moves the game around in midfield to where LAFC want to play. And he gets it to the attackers when they're at they have the biggest advantage over the defense in terms of being having time and space to turn and play vertical. His ability to be a metronome like that has been so crucial to this team, even when they're not playing pure possession. Like we've seen them go multiple games in a row playing counter attack soccer and his ability to be the first pass out on the break and to put everybody in on a sprint. I'm not talking about defense splitting through balls, but I'm talking about getting the ball to sifuentes or to Kellen Acosta with time to pick their heads up and spray a ball out to the flanks and get guys on the run. He's been invaluable at that. On top of it, defensively, nobody's going to mistake him for Diego Chara in terms of the amount of ground that he covers. But he's never out of position. They have him in a spot where his primary job is to stop the ball in front of the defense with the ball turn and play. And keeping it that simple for him and having guys around him, whether it be out of central defense or the

"To the handling of recent scandals by the management of the Portland timbers. I actually had a chance to speak with Madison today and she confirmed to me herc online reports that a timbers high ranking employee actually did call her father and asked her father to ask her not to wear the shirt. So we have that. Her reaction to this, the latest that we're hearing out of Portland. What I will say is the people of Portland deeply care about their team. Deeply. This will not go away for them. And we ran into a good amount of those Portland fans in Mexico City. At our the American outlaws. The Americans viewing party. And the response to the show was overwhelmingly positive. But one of the few things we always heard was thank you for your coverage of what's going on right now in Portland. Please continue that. So they're not going to go away and to forget and it's quite troubling some of the things we're hearing and you just hope that Major League Soccer and the people in Portland, the ownership group would come out and address some of these. Yeah. So I did have a chance, as I mentioned to speak with Madison on top of what I told you she confirmed. She also confirmed to me that that same timber's employee a high ranking team official questioned her about the decision to wear the shirt before she sang the national anthem. And she told me that she walked away from that conversation, convinced her that if she wore the shirt, she wouldn't be singing national anthem at timbers games. Let me just finish this because it's important. That's not what's happened. The timbers have invited her to come back and sing and they've also offered to have a meeting with her to further explain what's going on. And when I spoke with her, she said that she would be down to have that meeting. So that's the latest that we can give you. Yeah. Hopefully things get better before they get worse. But yeah. All right, that's it for us here on football Americas. We will be back on Thursday. "That type of a poke in the bear. But when we won, it was like, where's this talk? Where is this at now? And we're seeing a lot of that. There's a changing of the guard that's happened. So these numbers don't mean anything to me. These numbers of zero wins only three draws in the modern era and all these losses don't mean anything to me because that's like bringing up the historical record between Mexico and the USA. You're talking about pre millennia. You're talking about last century. You're not talking about what's happened since the early 2000s. The rise of both national teams in the world in a global sense because both have been, I mean, the U.S. has done very well, but Mexico, at least in a global sense, have been very consistent. They've them and Brazil are the only two national teams that have gotten past the group phase in the last 7 World Cup. So something to be set. That said, there isn't this dominance over the U.S. that it once had. I mean, we were talking about score lines in the Balboa la la years of 5 zero 6 zero 7 zero. Those guys, those 94 guys, they really struggled. That generation, they can comment whatever they want and they may have invested interest and they may speak more from the heart about that pain, but there are a lot of these players today and fans today that have had positive memories of playing against Mexico. It's really a rivalry, so it's a 50 50 game for me and this whole thing about your plane and in the study of steca, you should be afraid. It goes out the window. I've played in this stadium. And maybe it means something different to me because I'm Mexican American and it's always been a dream to play in that stadium. It's been a dream to shoot at goal in the same goal that Diego Armando Maradona hurt England with that hand to God within me. But that's the thing. This hosted toasted two world cups. You know, we saw Brazil, Belle is Brazil in there. You saw Diego Maradona's Argentina win there, like to me, it's such an honor opportunity to get to play there. I didn't see this fear. So I have time when guys are on oxygen tanks. I'm a my two feet, maybe because it's a custom I've been here before. I play league here before. And it's an opportunity. Players today don't realize the opportunity they have. I don't want to talk about how daunting it is because do we forget to mention that the U.S. has never had so many Champions League players has never had so many Europeans. This is supposed to be the golden generation. I don't want to hear the golden generation is scared to play an outfit. This isn't Bolivia. This isn't La Paz. This isn't some crazy scenario where it's unhealthy. It's unsafe. It's a game of football. There are much more important things in the world than this game. So buckle up, it's a game. You've already have a psychological stadium up. Did not ask this stadium up so that we couldn't go out there and win. Now let's go and do this. I will say, the past 5 minutes need to be cut from this podcast and played in the ears, have every U.S. player before they take the field 'cause I cynical me and bloody convinced and my God, we're going to break this down a little more detail. And then we're going to take your questions. I mean, where are we here? I do need to ask you, again, a tight one before we break down element by element. When we're in the stage of qualifying qualifying to journey, where is this U.S. team in 11 games in under coach Greg borehole? Where are the teams going to where you would have expected them in terms of progress, gelling, a defined hierarchy, the morale, there's an element of fans who are like, we weren't in the nation's league and the gold cup. With our B and C team, we are inevitable. And there's an element who are like, we are not learning our lessons from the wreckage of the recent past and we're doomed to repeat them. A quick one, because I want to get into the specifics. But what do you see her? Where are we big picture? We're still in complete. And I shouldn't say we. The U.S. men's national team is still incomplete. That's where that's where they are. And what I mean by that is with the last one to three games to go, I would have already expected a DNA, a set style, a set 11. I would have already known Greg just tendencies like any other coach. And he's so unpredictable. And most would say, well, that's a good thing, because the opponent doesn't know what to predict. Yeah, but so you're players also don't know what to expect. They don't know what to predict going in. And to me, that's a scary thing when you don't know who you are. I love that to take in this us versus the world mentality that's fine I've been hearing a lot of the quotes coming out of the camp and I think that's a great thing to do. But there is, besides the injuries, there's a growing sense of, I don't know if they know who they are. Today and going forward, that I wouldn't have expected this late into the World Cup qualifying process. Yeah. I think that's fair. By the way, I love the way you described that we don't know what we're doing still. It reminds me of the reserve striker in the English first division, then the top tier, who was asked what is penalty methodology was, and he said he just hits it as hard as he can, he doesn't think where he's putting it because his methodology is if he doesn't know where he's going to shoot the shot and the goalkeeper woozy. And that's a great effort to a national team, but our squad for this week of weeks. First, the good news. Christian Pulisic, AKA the man, you know, as the LeBron James of soccer is back to consistent form with Chelsea for the first time in a bloody long time. He seems confident. It seems not fearful his decision making, recalibrated, also back. Georgia or as a journalist called him to his face yesterday claudian arena. God bless time flies when you Freudian slip it away and the dark news injuries as robbed us of western McKinney are curved. You break a turn absolute king chaos is all others as best Matt Turner and just last weekend Brendan aronson, the Timothy Chalamet of U.S. men's national team football, but first up, who replaces western McKinney, that human bowling ball meme lord. We've got options, 23 year old. We've got 23 year old Lucca de la Torre fresh out of Heracles in the Dutch area of the vizier Kellen Acosta. Boujee Reina, making some beds, yet yesterday calling center midfield, his quote favorite position, but he's really working his way back to fitness after 5 months of frustrating double injury herc. What do we do? Well, let me just start off by saying nobody can replace what western McKinney does. Western McKinney has been the best player for the U.S. defense national team and the best player in the U.S. potentially in pool for quite some time. You mentioned that protocol breach that cost him the first window. Since then, in many wanted to excommunicate west of McKinney from the program. Many wanted to get rid of them and those pundits know who they are. They went on record saying it. He's been lights out since. Remember the Tanner's Mexican. We won't name them for their other team as Mexican. Well, there's a lot more than just that. But yes, yes, he's been so good from a production value. I mean, his goals are what he does in the field is unquestionable. You can't unsee what you see. We talk about his importance. He was the MVP of the nation's league in concave. He was massive versus Mexico. In a game where I thought Mexico outplayed them, but they scored the goals and set pieces were a factor..

"I have to explain it, I don't know if that's my best haiku, but I did like the middle line about the new number to watch is 9. They say they're looking for efforting to get a number 9. They're also reports that the budget is not mind-blowing in that sense. So we'll see if they get that done over time and look pork Smith as well as Robin Fraser, I've said repeatedly that they like their options there and shinichi and Rubio, et cetera and even Michael barrios has played there before. So Doyle. This year for the rapids. Did first in the west come a little bit early? Did it change expectations in the wrong way? What should we expect from Colorado in 2022? I think more of the same. I think ending somewhere between 1.6 and 1.8 or 1.9 points per game seems about right unless they go out and get that number 9. The structure of this team is obviously so sound even having sold Sam vines. They immediately replaced them with a very good left back. I have no doubt that they'll be able to account for the loss. The sales and loan of Kellen Acosta and Cole Bassett Robin Fraser has shown he knows how to build a really solid team. And they took that to the playoffs. And they outplayed Portland for 70 minutes. And they created a number of good chances, and they did not have a playoff caliber goal scorer to put the ball in the back of the net. If you take that team last year and I don't think 1.8 points per game was a mirage. They were 1.7 points per game in like combined 20 and 21 under Robin Fraser. So it's not like they made this incredible leap. It was just steady growth. If you take that team last year and add a 20 goal scorer, then the ceiling for this team is supporter shield, the ceiling for this team is MLS cove. If you don't do that, the streaming for this team is what we saw last year. And I don't think that they will hit that ceiling because the west is better than it was last year. Key signings or losses, depending on the trade calendar Costa, that is a loss for them, but they go on the reentry draft to get Brian Acosta. Max Elvis is attacking midfielder that comes in and replaces sort of col bassets production. They would hope. Abubakar is a defender ever from the crew young guy that we've all had good words about in the past, but has some rough edges to send off. He comes in because Austin trustee will go to arsenal in the summer. Other than that, they made a bunch of re signings, made sure their core is sticking around whether it be Mark Anthony Kay or Jack price or Keegan rosenberry. Like basically the whole team. They're like, hey if you were an important part and you're in a good part of your career as far as age goes, you have a new contract. You're staying with us. We're running it back. So those are the key signings. Can I just ask Brian Acosta? What do we think they're going to get from Brian Acosta this year? Or is that sort of the whole question with Brian Acosta? It's always a question with Brian Acosta..

"How much change do you see coming Doyle? Well, I mean, probably walker's never been in for Chris Richards. If Tyler Adams can't go, it's Kellen Acosta is the backup 6. We know from the start, the Anthony Robinson was going to play all three games. I was surprised that I thought this was great. I was surprised. I surprised that started. In this one, given that it seemed like there was call for rotating the right back, given how many write backs were brought to camp. I mean, I don't know, the two because of the injury, maybe put peppy back in the center for word and then the question is, is it time to bench Christian ballistic? I think if you don't start him against Honduras, it's not benching him. Three games in a week. All right, that's fair. You're right. But he is the number ten. He is the part time captain. He is the most famous and ostensibly the best player. This is a must win game. It's a must win World Cup qualifier. That's like landed Donovan would have started this game. Clint Dempsey would have started this game. Brian McBride would have started this game. Claudio Reina would have started this game, you know? They would have found it, but like, okay, even irrespective of that, just in terms of we want to we want the U.S. to go out there and win, who do you start at left wing? Because Tim wy is going to come back in at right wing, do you start areola? Do you start pulisic? Do you start Jordan Morris? I think you stick with Christian. Must win, you need these points at home. I think you go with him and then aaronson I didn't think had his best day. He had like I mentioned a couple moments where he was able to find space and he's always busy, but I don't know if he did enough to keep his place. And then Jordan, I think they're using exclusively as a guy off the bench right now. He just doesn't have enough minutes to give you more than that. So I think Christian Christian would stay. So Honduras, the other option is they've slid him in the end of the game. They slip him in the middle. And they pushed areola into a wide space. So with Adam's coming out, maybe you try and tweak things a little bit so Christian slides in. But that still doesn't leave the change you still need to make us for that 6th position because you don't want to push west and back. And force him to sit there. And lusa is not going to be that either. So you kind of need to make that position with a cost to coming in. Two home games left for the U.S. and the octagonal. Four games overall. Honduras on Wednesday, Panama on March 27th. Visit on March 24th to Mexico and two coasta Rica on March 30th. Those are what you would probably call the two, well, before Canada. Let's say in the hex, those would have been your two trickiest away games. Doyle says must win, I agree with Doyle home games in the hacks you wanna go to the World Cup must win. Dave, what's your big picture thought on the U.S. in that match? And then let's take it to Canada. Yeah, and there's the worst team in qualifying. You can't afford to give up getting three points against them. Canada just beat them on the road. That's where they stand, unfortunately, four Honduras, and there should be no other expectation. I think Honduras, they're biggest threat to you is in the attack. If Kyoto at least in lozano, that's something to worry about..

"It hurts these players. The question on the screen was, did MLS kill Kellen Acosta's European treatment? It sounds dramatic, doesn't it? But hurt, at 26 years of age, I think you can honestly say, if that window ain't close, it's getting close to being closed, right? You don't have too much longer after your 26th birthday when you can make a realistic move to Europe. And it's not like he doesn't want it. This is a player who has been very, very clear about what he wants. Back in April in an interview with the athletic, he said, I wish I would have gone to Europe early, right? This is a guy who's had the opportunity. You thought he might go from FC Dallas. You thought he might go from Colorado and neither of those teams were able to make his European dreams come true. I want to read you this quote though, because this is the one that as a fan cuts me the deepest. This is what kalanick has said after being a national team camp earlier this year. After being in the last camp, I know that if I want to continue being a national team player, I have to be in Europe. He knows he has to be in Europe to compete for a World Cup now. His window is closing not just to go to Europe, but to be a World Cup player for the United States. He's 26 years old and MLS right now is effectively taking that away from him. Are they not? Listen, you can't blame LAFC or Colorado make you blame the mechanisms mechanisms excuse me within Major League Soccer, but LAFC in Colorado are Major League Soccer. They are franchises. They just want to be just as LAFC fan, Seb, okay? What if you just call a rapid fan? Are you not beholden to your players? You're the player, the former player here are the clubs and not beholden to the players and what they want. What's best for their kids? It's not what they want. It's a business. And the problem here is these clubs aren't incentivized to celebrate. There's no reason for them to sell abroad. This $1.5 million in gam. That means nothing to me because I don't know what it means. What does that mean in a market value for kellan Acosta? Should Kellen a costume I get 10% of his market value? This was a regular league and let's say the price was 7 million. Kalinda Costa would have 10% of 7 million in his bag.

"Deal with Vanessa. And the brief stint he played against Costa Rica that he was a tremendous in the limited time we got him to see him, but he's really expanded his game. I thought he struggled in the goal cup. I thought he was one of the big players. We had hopes for big hopes for and he struggled. While he's putting some of those doubts to RAS, he's getting to be a better player on and off the ball. Both sides of the ball and venetia. And I think it's a player that gives you a little versatility. Yeah? He's not that ball winner 'cause part of me thinks he's gonna go with Kellen o'clock instrument. He likes that physicality. He likes the athleticism and the defensive effort that Kalani Costa gives you. But if you really want to add another element of buildup of play, creativity, even set pieces. I think John Lucas is your man and I would go with luzio. Okay, so you mentioned boozy oh, you mentioned Kellen Acosta. You haven't mentioned two names in which we know are options for Greg berhalter, but also we know will upset some U.S. men's national team. Sebastian legit, Christian rolled on. What are the odds that you think we see either of those two guys either as a starter or as a sub in Jamaica? Pretty high. Yeah, I think rolled down as a sub absolutely. You're going to see him Greg berhalter enjoys what he gets out of a busy roll down and roll down to his credit. He creates things. He may not get on the score sheet with the goal or an assist, but he's always one of those guys that presses the right moment creates things for his teammates. He's a very good teammate, which is very hard to find at any level. He's one of those guys that Gregor halter knows what he gets from him and Sebastian legit. He just seems to be one of the confidants of Greg ber haltern. I know he's at his up and downs, but Sebastian legit at his peak at his best U.S. misogyny is a very capable player. I just don't think he's in a very good moment right now. Short answer here. We know we're going to see at least two changes because they're forced. We know he's not going to start scallion so you're not going to get that change which is one that you want to see. You did just beat Mexico to nothing like, don't you have to reward the other 9 guys by keeping them in the lineup, especially without the need for rotations. I would almost assume that you can't really make changes here. I wouldn't make try to you hit it out of the park when you said. This is a two game window. You don't treat it like a three game win, and you think you have to make these changes. So why did you want to put scallion for yedlin? Because I want to get him that experience. I think this is when you get his feet wet. We talked about it in the pre game show in the post show about how Joe scally should have been brought in last window. Well, if you're already late to that, and you think sergino dest might not be durable, you think there will be a chance for Joe scally at the right back or left back position because he's played both with glide back. You bring him in, you get him acclimated and you get him going. This can no longer be an excuse about this experience in Concacaf. When it comes to Christian Pulisic, the term judgment call was used her. Your judgment, if you're the manager, do you start Christian politic in Jamaica? Well, this changes with the Mexico win. You have the luxury of having that. When you don't need to stress out and think Christian political has to be your go to guy and also Greg for halter has already tipped his hand. He said that the field.

"Eunice Moussa's back in, but you have a couple different players in there as well. Sebastian legit, Kellen Acosta. And I think it's a cliche Taylor, but it really feels like this game is lost in midfield. What do we make of the different levels of play that we see three days apart from a midfield trio that wall is different still has one guy in it that's the same, and that's unusual. Yeah, what's concerning for me, her concept is this is that there really is only one 6 on this roster. And that's Tyler Adams. And the moment you take Tyler Adams out of the middle, everything looks discombobulated. Everything looks unhinged, and it doesn't feel comfortable within the system. Yes, he came off the bench in this one, but there was energy immediately to the game. Everyone had a little bit more pep in their step, whatever it may be, there was a few more options to pass the ball through the midfield and whatnot. I think western mckenney at times plays as if he wants to run the show as if he's the guy that can run the show. I don't think he's that type of player, and I think he needs to transform mores to the guy that we saw at Schalke. And so I understand the area concern, and I get it. But I'm still, and I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but they're not creating a ton of chances. The final product isn't there all the time. And I know great bear alternate staff love the model of expected goals, but when you look at the last 13 games that I'm beaten, it's not as if they're creating two three four expected goals every single game. And so chances are extremely limited for this team. So no matter what it is, and I understand if Tyler Adams is healthy, the midfields less of a concern for me, but regarding Ricardo Pepe up front or not. This team still struggles to score goals. And Eric, I don't know if you've seen the same thing I have yet why can they not score goals in the first half and then have to react? Change things and come out the second half. That in a nutshell is a problem. Yeah, and instead he was alluding to that earlier on in the segment where you talk about he got things right a half time. His adjustments were correct and they weren't this go around. That's still begs the question, why are you starting that way? Now we talk about Greg bertram, stani wants to implement and Taylor, you're right, he loves he's expected goals. He's very much excuse the term. Statin nerd when it comes to that. A PowerPoint nerd. But the football has been played that way. Football isn't played with numbers, played with feeling, it's played with instincts. And this is the problem. We talk about him being a possession based coach. This team being a possession based team, for ten halves, they've not been that. They've had two good halves, 8 very bad halves. And you look at the outside backs to me very important because when those acts outside effects have been good and taken care of the ball, it gets the center of the midfield going. It gets Tyler Adams. It gets western McKinney. Whoever's in there, younes Musa whoever's in there involved which gets their junior desk, Antony Robinson. When those fullbacks are good, when they take care of the ball, the team has confidence when they don't, they rely on their center backs to come out with it, and it's root one and it's very, very ugly. It feels a lot of the times like there's home run swings on these lineups, right? And sometimes it hits. Sometimes it doesn't. And I don't know if those risks are necessary, but I assume Gregg halter knows the depth of his of his talent pool better than we do. Let me ask this. Before we move on from the Panama game real quick. Panama in this match was Concacaf to an extreme almost. There's a point where you can have the stretchers come out as much as you want. But there's a difference to me like another line that's crossed when folks are running onto the field at very convenient moments and balls are coming in at very convenient moments. You guys have lived through all the shenanigans of Concacaf. And I know we accept games mention to a point in this region. Did it cross a line into cheating Taylor last night? Well, I mean, what do we expect from Concacaf guys? We're doing a World Cup qualifying round without VAR. And so you guys obviously heard me during the first half of Jamaica, absolutely blow a gasket on this. It's mind boggling to me. And yet you literally had fans running onto the field in beta on city asking for selfies. There were three balls on the field at one point. At what point is Concacaf's gonna look at itself and say, you know what? Fine. But I remind everyone watching this show. In 2017, Panama qualified for the World Cup on a goal that never went in. A goal that never went in. Was parents headed it and went outside the nets came back in. It was all about and went in and they give it a goal because of no VAR. They're like, it's good. Enjoy Russia. I don't know what to do. I don't see her. Expect the unexpected when it comes to concave half is the way I look at it. But you're right. That's the way it's always been, and that's the way it will be in the only way it's going to change is if you implement things like var and I understand most stadiums aren't set up to be quick with var, but those who have it should be allowed to use it. It's very simple to me. And Concacaf, it's known for the dark arts, it's known for stretching its rules, probably more than the Taylor's wearings being stretched. It's the way it is. Taylor, you'll be in Columbus for the game against Costa Rica. Let's look forward to that match for just a second. All right, so you got Greg berhalter's here. You can tell one player that he's gotta put back into the starting lineup for this game. Columbus is easy against Costa Rica. Based on what you said, I think we know who it's going to be, but who is it? It's Tyler Adams. I'm not moving them. I'm not making the fact that he started the first half at right back against Honduras was mind boggling to me..

"By these fans. So a lot of fans who see Major League Soccer has a polarizing entity who see Major League Soccer players as a weak link within the U.S. men's national team. I don't buy into that, but Greg ber Holter and these players getting these results in the cirque essential way is feeding this narrative. And it's not a good thing to have this type of divide. Maybe the only national team in the world where there is this what's the word to say, where is this spike of the domestic league with its players? I think farc is just backing sergeant here. He just doesn't want to say that it's because he's dropped out of form. That's why he's not called in. So he's kind of providing another excuse. If I'm a U.S. fan or a sergeant fan, I kind of like it. Your managers back in your guide. The other point is if you had called in Josh Sargent, you're probably only getting him for what? Two of the three games. I mean, if we look at the examples of Antony Robinson, if we look at the example of Zack Stefan, they don't make the trip to Panama. It is on the UK red list. So Josh sergeant had he scored in those first three games? You bet they would have called him in, even if he's only available for 2003. That tie breakers held against fair enough, but that the martino got raul he managed for all three games and even with reckless country. So make that take it for what it's worth. All right, let's bring in Taylor twin, and then he joins us to discuss more of the fallout from the United States one nothing defeat against Panama in Panama City. Taylor, you just had to listen to us prattle on there for a little while. Who do you think is more to blame? The manager or the players? You two are the best. I absolutely love this show. Every single time I'm on it. Honestly, Greg burr said it's on him, right? Gregg said it's on him and his staff. And so he answers the question for us. And so he raises his hand. He takes accountability and says it is on him. I completely agree with her and you, Seb in the sense that if you look at what Germany did, if you look at what the Netherlands did against lesser opponents, they rotated maybe three players. Not 7. And so you're over calculating in your overthinking this three days of travel and high heat and whatever. This is World Cup qualifying. You have to get as many points as you can get as quickly as possible no matter who's in front of you. And so for me, there's a way over calculation about the travel and the humidity and heat which by the way for the record, if you are going to make 7 changes in that kind of weather, it behooves you to use Major League Soccer players that have been planned in that weather for the last four months. So how those players showed up and laid an egg with no energy, no enthusiasm, nothing whatsoever is beyond me, but this is on the manager, because in my opinion, the rest of the world is still treating every single opponent the same way by rotating the squad with two or three players, not an overhaul of 7 players against a team that Mexico struggled playing down there as you said her. Any team that's played Panama in Panama has struggled. So the proof is in the pudding. You've seen it. Panama is a better team than they have been in years past quite honestly than when we've gone down there. Myself in the generation ahead of us that went down there and got results. And so I just think there was way too much overthinking in this and they under calculated how good Panama is at home and they're overthinking this way too much at times about fitness and about travel and all of this. When the rest of the world is doing similar types of things. Now in saying that Seb, I'm with you in this extent. The players have some accountability, my word. It's one thing to talk about tactics in technique and hers tweeted this and he's a 100% right about arrogance. But the first thing you got to have, the first thing you've got to have is energy. You've got to have the ability to run compete and fight. If you don't even have that, I can't even talk about the other stuff because you're not providing the simple fundamental thing, which is run through a wall and play for your country, which they got none of that last night, and four years ago, the United States lost a Trinidad and Tobago. This was almost an identical performance that made everyone want to puke because she didn't get to compete factor first. Talk about tactics later. But give me the compete. And give me the fights and then we'll worry about whether or not you can pass the ball. But if you're not gonna run what's the point of showing up? Yeah, let me run something by you. Okay, 'cause I heard this narrative about running about trying about intensity. And that's all that's all good. It looks good from afar. But have you ever been Taylor? Have you ever been in an environment where your legs feel weak? We're all of a sudden the opponents on top of you where you see the crowd and you're like, I don't see this weekend week out. And in the goal comes in and you feel like the world is coming down on you. I saw that from these players. So we can talk about trying we can talk about competing. We can talk about intensity. We can talk about desire all that stuff. But if you've never been there done that, that seems so that's something to be said there. Okay. Experiences a real thing, her, the experiences of real thing. It's a great point. It's a real thing. One of the things that came out of the first match was how everybody was in love with this new young midfield. The midfield trio that Greg berhalter uses in Austin against Jamaica, right? Wesson McKinney Tyler Adams Eunice Musa. Obviously, there's some limitations there, right? Tyler Adams, he's told us Gregg halter that he's got to watch those minutes. He hasn't been playing with Leipzig 90 minutes a game. He's not going to risk him here. Wesley McKinney, we know wasn't available for this match. Eunice Moussa's back in, but you have a couple different players in there as well. Sebastian legit, Kellen Acosta. And I think it's a cliche Taylor, but it really feels like this game is lost in.
