"It's it's always well received when you know when outfits Trainers and owners. Who were and jocks. Were you know the faces of the success when they single out and talk about you know the the behind the scenes. Because there's there's always you know so many so many along the way and frankly when when you talk about a horse like like this who went over the million dollar mark with the win. I mean you know he. Frankly could've finished. Then he would have gone over He would he was. He was nine hundred. Ninety eight thousand but becomes a millionaire gets great one black type. Which would you would imagine is going to go a long way to him. You know potentially Standing alongside his sire english channel at kalua. Matt this is a this is a very big win for him. I mean this is a horse that's been consistent for really is whole career and you know casually occasionally as misfired but not too often and so there's been so many different people that have had their hands on him from from early on and so to get to this point at age six. I usually have these conversations. Jack with with it's usually. It's usually a lot of horses in his care that you know get. Their grade won their first grade. One at six years old. I think it just goes back to. China cut colin passion. And well to win that i couldn't really see even because i was just watch the replay in a few really see you know that at whole sixteen poll how 'bout whole stuck his neck out. If you can't tell me that halse wanted to win the will he was showing stickiness at our that. Finish line to calm. Is that not only one. The passion the well the talent obviously and again if people say these officers don't love what they do. You watch channel cuts. Replaying you tell me that. He not loves doing that. Because i promise you. If he didn't love what he was doing he wouldn't have stuck his head out. He would went completely backwards. That's funny people and doing my correct in san not Oh it was obvious and if if people if people only saw the you know the race hit the wire and then maybe a quick replay as they were hitting the wire. I saw what he was doing and how he was extended it was. It was quite remarkable. And i'm glad you mentioned that was amazing. He hit his neck. Was not retracting. On the bob i. It was unbelievable. And he. And.

"April thirteenth. Which is a tuesday And then go till the breeders cup. Go to the thursday of breeders cup week in early november. One hundred twenty days monday to thursday as a general rule We'll have saturdays. One saturday a month that will have quarter horse racing And those days where on-track we can do some of the fun things that families want to do and you know the may not be that group may not be quite as particular with what they see out on the race track with the third quarter horses. Just wanna be around racing and fun experience so we'll all of this obviously depends on the world coming over a little bit more normal and When that happens we'll be ready. We're two thousand twenty one to be really something for us here. I would think well eric. Calcium is delighted. I everybody's success and take a second and and the with some acknowledgments for you know for the team and the people that you know that made the year work. I appreciate you. Letting me do that. Because i i promise you. We've got the best team here. And they're not only a start with rachel and bill nancy. I wouldn't trade them for anything that you know they. They have in a year. They showed passion every day. And you know each of them brings something different but behind the scenes. You know rachel doing things that really really respect. And she's very smart and sometimes when she starts hollering at me about whip thick on twitter it. It's kids away the fact that she's doing some things that nobody sees where i go allow super impressed and bill has been just fantastic and you know nancy. We even here and going to you. Know maybe premier meet in the winter now at oaklawn so she's obviously just as top notch as you can get and very lucky to have that group and we wouldn't be the same without him and you know they'll be back next year and I i know they were this place to which is something that i value a lot. Must be quite work with a great meet note. Great team eric hellstrom Had you had seemingly impossible shoes to fill with the passing. John schuster and When when your name came up as you know as the person that was tabbed the everybody said well they they. Certainly you know they certainly found somebody that would be up to the challenge and under under the most difficult circumstances i. It's been a remarkable year. And congratulations to you and everybody. It's been a real pleasure to to forge this association again. This summer and fall with with indiana. It's a real privilege. I appreciate it. Yeah and thanks steve. Today and i really mean that to yourself and the couple of others in the industry and we've gotten real close to an plan on doing that for long as i'm here and beyond i've seen them but you know you you've done a lot for business and a tough year and you know we don't take that lightly and you know i've been a big fan of yours for a long time but you know getting to a point here where i can see how this tangible results from people like yourself. Foods we. We appreciate it. We'll look before the next year. And i'm not kidding about that. Trade the namesake. All right we'll do it right now. Right now shapiro's is in is the only well the we the. I'll throw out a few the mood laid on the wabash. We we'll come up with a head full that's Indiana as there's no shortage there's no shortage of Clever potential If you're going to create some Some new names but you can't. You can't mess around with the j. Foyt.

"We're back. And i said did i did i call. I called The young jack. I say castro rodriguez because i think it's i think it's rodriguez castro how it's gonna have to look it up. I think i think. I got it backwards. There there's you need a you need a scorecard to keep track of all of all the fresh faces and names Now of course you know a bunch of them are going to head south the soon enough but ortiz and i didn't mention vargas either Vargas another one of the ones that are that are in town so that was fun with rich. Always always great We're gonna have eric. Kallstrom joins us momentarily. And i'll do most of the you know what i think. We'll probably save a lot of the. I didn't Go marauding into the results with rich Beyond tomorrow i will mention one of the winners right. We had We had the visit from marshall and that tuesday house. tuesday and friday pat gory. What right category would the I'm laughing because kelly breen just got back to let me. Just write the kelly. I love it told that. Yeah you got the wrong. Come on casey. i'll send you. I'll send you the singer the The cell number. Let me tell We'll probably come to. Kelly green the bottom of the hour anyway. Paddock gory. one The the horse that is named Whimsically with With pat cummings in mind was a Was a clear winner in the sixth race at At akwa doctor on friday. And you know it's funny because it got they got a little money ended up being the third choice and i. I was shocked when you know when i went to bet And so i went to write the races. I should say and and he was a crazy price. Where is it. He was sixty six to one morning. Life where is it here there. We go Yeah it was six to one on. David's morning line Which was actually which was actually co fourth choice co-authored joyce blackjack davey was favored. Who stopped like he was tied to fencepost and he did go off favourite at five two and then three two one on prince of pharaohs who also had been the six one co fe co third choice and who was second choice farragut farragut was the second choice of three to one and went off at three to one so really the it held except that The long shots went off longer and the These six to one shots went off shorter. Essentially but Still nine forty was a was a very attractive number by the time it By the time the gates opened. So here you go casing. Let me give you this. I'll say some of the other stuff. Kelly brings gonna join us after eric. as well and There you go. What just looking. Eric what do you what did you have for. Yeah those are all you can get rid of all those the emails still good but I think those are all old Yeah get rid of those old numbers. That's the fringes sent as we wait for eric A french sent me something. Wild friend colleen on facebook The story from saturday. In saint louis and fan i guess is partnering up with fairmont. And they're going to change the name of fairmont and put the fan put the fan duel name over it. How about this fan duel racing. Wow this is a crazy crazy story or crazy. I guess is not a crazy idea but just go check back on that. How about how about that. So i guess they're gonna be. You're gonna you know that's part of the part of the illinois casino Re vamping that's going on. And of course hawthorne well on their way to building So i'm i to figure check into that We'll see i guess. I guess it's not any different than than philadelphia. Park becoming parks. That sort of the last place did this kind of thing. So eric hallstrom's joining us. There we go eric. Good morning. martin be eye eric. I we had to get you in here. Because it's the last few days of the season at indiana and not everybody necessarily as is in tune with what a success story. It's been this year at indiana. And i it's been so much fun playing the pick five and visiting with the with the staff mostly with bill downs and You know i. I i imagine that that you know while it's while it's a relief and certainly the work that's gone in You know it's a lot of work And it's a relief to get to the end of the year but It's it's really been a a success that the industry should appreciate. Wow nice to say that tonight. Very proud of the team This is not an easy year for anybody. And that's including us here there's seemingly every day there was some hoop you're jumping through but what you said is absolutely correct. We're going to end the season up or handle about sixty percent and that stayed strong. We started off that way. And you know as we end the meat here We're we're holding that right through the wine and it feels good because everybody's worked really hard and You know. I i feel for places like golden gate and mahoning valley right now the and who you know just work hard and just couldn't get some luck and all that but we have been one of the things that you find sometimes difficult spots. Is you it forces. You really look at what your business is. What makes the most sense. And in our case. I think we figured out we don't belong running on the weekend against the churchill's and belmont of the world You know we belong monday to thursday. And i think we create something here. That will Know we're pretty proud of them. When you're handled up sixty percent up. Everybody feels good about it. Well we talked as as the season even before the season started. And as you were making the adjustments and figuring out what was going to be the the best approach and i it just seems like every notion and the experiment the experimentation that that you you tried paid off a including the you know the all Quarterhorse cards The early morning cards when there was international racing that the public was going to be paying attention to or You know some of the big days the triple crown style days Ah there were so many things that you experimented with The low takeout pick five. Obviously a you know. An instant draw that was you know overpaying continues to overpay. I mean every single one it it just you do of if you do it via the parlay it it just over performs repeatedly i mean it it it just. There's been a lot of things that you were willing to try. And it's really a message that should be taken to heart elsewhere around the industry. Well thanks yeah. And i take that complement very seriously. When i say. I appreciate that our group here. You know when we knew that we weren't going to be able to do some fun. Things that we want to on-track which hopefully next year we can mix them some saturdays here and there to to get back to why we all love being at the race track but we came up with some thoughts. Maybe looked like Could appeal to national players. And it's obviously works. You brought up the pick five. It's not you know any stretch to think on any normal day without a carryover. You know we're getting up close to one hundred thousand in that pool. And that's a good number for monday to thursday track in the middle of the day A lot of things have worked. And i do think going forward monday to thursday as thing and I find your niche. And then you just keep improving on it and we got some ideas for next year two we. I don't think we've with empty the bag on everything we can try. That's for sure a when it came to when it came to the you know the mix of of horsemen Address that because it isn't as if you took away from from the racing in kentucky for instance i mean whether it was kentucky downs Churchill keeneland alice. I mean you. You ran concurrently for an extended period. Sometimes it's hard for the tracks that you know that have extended seasons you know to maintain horse population and how much that was per structure. How much of. That is the indiana bread program responsible. The the indiana quality the indiana State program is is outstanding and going to close out here. The next few days as the season ends. I mean talk a little bit about the composition that worked so well putting together these cards. Yeah so you know. We're we're in a good spot here. We're our plus from louisville. Where you know little over an hour some from cincinnati. And chicago's not that far so we're rental location where we can be very important for the region and per structure is very solid. It's one of the things. Nobody really knew everybody..

"Cross country. Pick five. Oh Yeah Yeah and and I needed to figure out exactly the approach you know it might be might be hammer time. I guess because. Who Ni I can't get passed and you know I love by my standards so. I have three pretty strong anchor opinion, Zuni probably the shortest crisis, a three for sure but by my standards I. Just can't get away from here is is a horse. He's not going to be favor Thomas. Day Tot definitely consistently faster. Has the win over the track by my standards. Just nothing wrong this year at a bigger price I'M GONNA I'M GONNA. Trust my opinion. This horse belongs. Among the top of the division and press him for sure in the Stephen. Foster and I like Alec. Grant foresters pirates punch a little bit I think Moore's. It's close enough. number wise that with if he just stays out of trouble on or near the Front End he doesn't necessarily have to get out of the number, so he's. She's definitely the the long shot I like spice things up and actually saw grant. Yesterday we ended up walking in the same direction, and he told me that they mind for some moisture in the track, so an upgrade for me based on that so it should it rain even during the day which you know. It is a day race I. Still Keep Thinking Tonight Card You know if it rains in the morning. He said that you know that's ideal. They're fine fast track, but he's. He's hoping for some moisture at some point before the race. So that's something I'll keep in mind. But yeah, the that's three strong opinions for the the cross country and you know what that that lets me spread a little bit in the New York and In the regret, which which is a a real blockbuster But the big field so. Hopefully. That'll be where the price comes. Lay Out. lay out your place for. For the weekend. Yeah well else. In the BAFFERT manner dad that is. Steve for. Cat arousal. I think that's his name, but he looks. Thank Kesse thank you. Yes. He looked incredible There were a couple of cock sources in that race. you know kind of steam, and and I believe one of them even went favored and Steve Seat force just blew him out of the water. definitely was one of the impressive performance. I've seen so far the meet now. You're getting some shippers and gets be you know looks good, but i. just you know it's maybe a biased because I was there, but I have to trust my I and I think he's score squarely. The horse to be the Florida Li. I mean. Maybe by my standards gets me a a six or seven dollars. Pick three, but. When, Steve asmussen.

"Acquisition and I could I see heaven. Tens of thousands of people there every day, including Tuesday, which is normally kinda quiet so The this definitely adds a charge to derby week that normally even in a normal year when Tuesday and Wednesday or the quiet days, might be some of the most attended days racing all year. And know. This situation and we talked about a couple of months ago and you know with with Eddie three, and you know with you know with young children at home. Explain your precaution and you're you know obvious concern about you know the health elements and you know while. While, the adults in the rumor. Maybe healthy I mean the vulnerability is is really the. The concern. How. What's what's your? Feeling because you. You know you're in a unique position to address this for public that in some cases you don't really understand the potentialities. Yeah, you know it's been. A roller coaster, because when this first came out I was at the rebel Route when things really started. Going Downhill and talking of shut shutting things down in earnest. And our medical team at Cincinnati Children's we're we're EJ is seen for his says various issues and complexities They were very frank that you know until we know more about.

And more and and you know we've had a few trainer. Visitors that have referenced that have referenced their. You know their interest in those spots so. It'll. It's Keeneland. Everybody likes to everybody seems to show up for for Caitlin even under even under the unusual conditions Marty. Enjoy tomorrow and. Appreciate it, it's This meat came off well and things will. There won't be any interruption boy things flow right into the patch and thank keeneland. Absolutely. Thanks for having. D R F McGee, everybody. We're going to stay right ear. derosa standing by an ED with a fabulous day for vet. Share players yesterday, couple of Nice multi hits, and probably very excited to wind down this intense few weeks at Churchill for the. Spring meet and Eddie Good Morning. Good, morning? Fiasco. It's been in week seven and it's been. It's been like Mardi said I mean people have come together, and made it happen, and then very rewarding and feel privileged to be a part of it but at the same time knowing that what this over. CAITLIN and terracotta look forward to and on the other side of that is Derby Week hopefully hopefully with some fan participation as well. So as you said no real letup, but definitely gonNA, take the time to enjoy this closing weekend at Churchill and certainly a meat. I don't think any of US forget. Well and having just talk to Kevin Flannery The the derby the way it's going to shape up and and with you know the I don't want I'm not even GonNa call it limited attendance, because it feels like it the the attendance number will be pretty robust and. it. It may not be fifty percent capacity, but the fact that that's. Available, it seems to downs management. Will certainly make for a you know a well attended? Derby considering that you know as recently as three or four weeks ago, there was uncertainty as to whether there'd be anybody. Right, yeah I I I. Definitely was a little emotional yesterday with the announcement. Plenty of days to get through and hopefully healthier days for some That, obviously most important all of us, but. I mean you definitely. You definitely Miss People at the track I. I mean the way we're connected to. These horses manifests. When whether you're charon forum. You're taking care of them. Both betting on them at Cetera There's a connection there. The absolutely palpably feel missing when when it's an empty grant fan so Yeah, really looking forward and I and I think part of the interest for me in welcoming fans back to Derby. Week is the the trickle effect because you know, power however limited it is, it's definitely going to be a different kind of ticket.

I've got enforceable. looks like Baffert is. A had there with uncle chuck and. Basin basin diverted for Asmussen from the Belmont and although I haven't seen much lately. Enforceable right for CASSIE. Yeah, but I think they're I think they're on target for marking back Ocala CAL and. I think he's a worker, two or three. So you know at seven or eight to work with right there I. I wouldn't be surprised if they got fourteen for so I mean. That'd be quite a bit of interest. No doubt and I know that Saffy Joseph Scott. New York traffic. For either the Haskell or for the BLUEGRASS and There's. with were waiting for. I I think we all keep thinking marty that th that horses are GonNa. Come out of the woodwork and. You know there there. There really wasn't yet for. The Belmont. We really didn't get those those the late interests, even after even after the baffert horses went to the went to the shelf was kinda surprising that a couple of you know and the one turn configuration. You would've thought that would have drawn a few more. You know a few more bodies, but You know so be it and I think everybody would have been fodder for for Tis the law anyway. Yeah no doubt I mean you did get fifteen in the Ohio Derby for tomorrow and. The BLUEGRASS is Tiber race. "It's weekend preview. And will spend a lot of the time focused on. Closing weekend at Churchill downs. and. I guess. A lot of the focus. Is Churchill downs related I'm just looking down at the. At the guest list because we're gonNA, talk to Kevin, flannery and here in the I. I don't know forty five minutes. And we'll get. Some further details about the decision, the announcement yesterday that. The. Derby is going to be run with spectators. We worried about the Derby, not being run but the spectators side of things in. Concert and consultation. With Frankfurt with Governor Bashir. And health officials etc.. And there's going to be. Real guidelines that they're obviously as we're dealing with in every venue for. And every community. DEALING WITH The real specifics, so we'll talk to. flannery about the decision making process the execution. And you know how everything how they anticipate. everything is going to go, and you know. It's one thing to speculate and to for a place like monmouth to know that they accommodate you know up to fifteen thousand and open air facility, etc.. Little different when you're talking about having anticipated in potentially what one hundred and sixty thousand on Derby Day on eight on a day. And the it's one thing in the open air. Regions of the plant. And in the Infield. It's something else entirely when you're talking about all the dining rooms and all the. You know the sweets and my God. I, mean execution-only. A Even under healthy normal. Conditions. It's a mon- monumental undertaking so. Anxious to hear from from flannery. WHO Yesterday Did the lot of the media rounds, and of course this news came out at about nine thirty yesterday morning. So. A chance to. Do a little and A. With Kevin, flannery Marty McGee and actually. Another on a conference call Churchill this morning, and so I think Mardi. McGee will probably slip in here. I and we'll get. Some of the The over reaching elements of this Marty. From a media angle perspective did talked to Darren Rogers yesterday and Darren Scott. Obviously you know his executional elements in terms of the TV crews the. Photographers the. I mean it's the media you. Everybody's thinking about the probably the the most general features involved in a race day. Well it. It's all multiplied by. Exponential amount when it comes. To Derby, we will also talk, and because Mardi always covers the future wagers, there's round. Five of the future wagers here that comes out this weekend. This is not gotten a lot of attention in the you know the general crush of of News, but There's quite a few predictably. There's quite a few new names. that are going to be. On, the list including the. Road to the Derby Japanese, Runner Cafe Pharaoh twenty two one. Oh! Art Collector mentioned, yesterday brought up with asking yesterday Tommy Dreary and Bruce Lunceford abandon the CAN. His name came up yesterday. and a few others that are kind of. You know lurking as it were. And then there's the you know the major players, obviously like honore, p five to one and Tis, the law and interestingly. Tips the law. Has Been in the pools. From the start and there's people that got tis the law at eleven to one. In the first pool. Eleven to one eight to one in the second seven to one and five to one, but the eleven to one on Tis the law I'm sure a few people, and and this gets into the controversal. Decision to let it ride when it came to these. Future, wager. The ones that had already been posted. We'll talk Marty. We'll talk to Kevin Flannery Ed Rosa. We haven't talked to in a few weeks. We'll get to. It had terrific day yesterday. For twin spires players. We should mention. I saw that hit. Two of his multi-race bet share concepts, and so Ed's hot and We'll see what he likes on the big foster card. And the foster card in addition to New York New, York of course has had these multiple is going to continue to have these multiple Saturday stakes, days and no exception tomorrow. I didn't get a chance related. Go into those yesterday, but we obviously will today nick tomorrow and our three. The vagrancy the New York the true north and the justice game and seven, seven, seven, eight, seven in terms of field sizes the. Plenty frankly and they're all contentious. The. They're all very contentious and There might be you know. Some short prices featured in terms of favorites in each of these races come dancing and seven five in the vagrancy for the fillies and Mares Short. IN THE NEW YORK? They've ever going to make call me love the favorite the Clermont. And I guess has A. Guest from pace edge maybe Then you're looking at seventy, five on promises fulfilled. and. Seventy, five and eight to five on owning and newspaper of record respectively. And all three of the Chad Brown's lineup shoulder to shoulder newspaper Record Regal Laurie, Uni. They're all mice here and you've also got the recall and got stormy and very good. so. The four stakes in New York comprise. The first four legs of the pick five. Then there's a maiden forty. We're actually there's in the maiden forty search Abi from. Tommy Bush who I thought looked. Like a beach ball in there and happens to be five to one. So Nice sequence in New York tomorrow. We've got a minute mouse in the opener. Actually she drew. He's the first horse you see when you open up the PCP's. She's the one in the first race tomorrow so good luck to Louis Cardenas Louis. Rotor great path that deal with she was a little headstrong early, but she settled in turned in a terrific performance back on the grass. When you when you're in the barn, you you, you look forward to the turf and coming back because. The TURF THE TURF is Gary. Is Gary's bread and butter, and you should see the. You should see the law that he he's fixed up. The law and at the new house in Merrick doesn't carry very good with that. He's got. He's got a green thumb. the cross country pick five I want to get this in immediately and make sure everybody's aware. It starts with the Derby. We'll talk. Ohio Derby with. With Nick certainly scully's going to be here to close out the weekend as well close out the meet, at Churchill, and of course Ed. I mean that's not going to miss an opportunity to give you an Ohio Derby. Play the Ohio. Derby opens that sequence four twenty two tomorrow for the cross country. Pick five, and it is going to be a ticket building. I don't want to call it a headache, but it is going to be a hoop jump at the very least fissile down eight is the Ohio Derby the grade three for half a million, and then we go to New York to the true north the sprint. Race nine. Churchill. For Race Ten. The foster which of course has got got a couple of obvious horses times the taught by my standards, but You know that's why they put them in the gate. might be able to tip toe through the Stephen Foster. You're going to need to, because then you get to the justice game. Belmont tenth. Grade one is all graded stakes sequence, and yeah, and yes you. Probably you'RE GONNA lead on Jad in just a game. But then comes the regret. And there's going to be. People guaranteed their regret that they. They left horses potentially off. That eleventh the NIGHTCAP, Churchill? It is thirteen Horsfield. And I. It's a IT IS A. well-matched field. Grade Three hundred thousand. And it is brutal. Period. I think I got a line by the way we yesterday with asking. We talked about the Ohio Derby. Before I look at some of yesterday's results and I do want to get a few things in before Mardi.

"Tickets was two hundred. Eighty eight thousand so you gotTa love that. Because that's kind of ballpark right. Two hundred earn eighty dollars isn't a ballpark They range from two eighty eight to nine sixty and then there one ticket that was placed fifteen thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars pick six ticket for fifteen thousand seven hundred fifty eighty dollars and turns Almost sixty thousand I was a dollar is a dollar pick so you see the different ways as that that people can you know is it always a big guy to hit no. It's not the big guys. Do it sometimes fifty. I'M NOT GONNA put in almost sixteen downards ticket that's for sure But to eighty eight. Yeah I could do that Another one was three twenty four. We had a four thirty two a four eighty six getting a little up there. But you know you get a couple of partners. It's topples is the vicious joss Experts seven people hit the picture there and then we had a pick ticket I think this was awesome. This was on riding Pick five to fifty six fifty cent pick five returned returned forty forty six thousand dollars so you know I looked at this point. I think yeah well. People hits these these big payoffs you know. How do you get? You know. Somebody's phone number. Or you know. I could never do that. 'cause I don't have that kind of money No it's not true it's not true it's you can be dolgin. handicapper put in a reasonable ticket and hit for a lot of money. Now there are some people who sixth rate on. It was on fright trying to run through in sixth race on Friday. All right if I am right Structure Billy Bat was the Juvenile turf short to billy batts gear jockey. I think you've got structure was I had six warms my last odd written down but we bet forty five. The last thing I wrote down gear jockeys seventy that charge factor patty a five dollar try sector box two four eight nine three four eight nine and guess what should play the super because they ran two eight nine four and it was a five dollar play costs one hundred and twenty dollars and return thirty thousand dollars. How `bout that how? `Bout that I loved. I loved him when when I when when I get in the winter something notable you know. I'll share them with everyone absolutely Because there's a lot and that's why everybody that's why I'm getting these requests about you. Know when is this GonNa GonNa come available and it's funny that you picked that that spot yesterday. The while I was sitting speaking of that that new lounge they created did I was sitting with Eddie Barker and we were watching that fifth race and Eddie as they're as they're leaving leaving the as the horses break he. He's rooting a little bit. I said what are you got here. I said what are we. What are we rooting for? And he had two long prices like gear jockeying billy batts and he had keyed them in in. I think he had keyed them everywhere. I think he'd he'd them second first. Second third fourth with like five logical. It's and he ended up having and he says the he said this. Is You know pretty much how I play. LONGSHOTS it'll take a couple of particularly in big fields. He'll take a couple of big prices that he thinks have a chance to for any any board board hit first through fourth and he'll key them sometimes he says they'll literally us all and he hit the the the super he ended up running. He ended up running third and fourth and had it for forty cents added four times and it had to be. I think it was in the eighteen hundred dollar range when it was all added up and you know talk I it's it's just. There's so many people particularly Breeders Cup Day and that's why it's so anticipated and the big you know. The biggest stake days because of all the pool size opportunity the big field size opportunity and that kind of an approach and it just it. You don't have Stephen Pick winners you. You just have to horses that you that. You're placing a inappropriate spots To Be Successful. Aw that's I mean we're we're in the WANNA say that the sweet spot of of gambling season. He's in as far as sports. Wagering goes to college football that NFL got caught with basketball started now you've got NBA Nhl. Oh and I think even the Canadian football league is is in the playoffs right now but one advantage one distinct good vantage playing. The horses has advantages that you betta little and we're GONNA watch new. Yep State within your bankroll and use these. You know you have price sources you. Have you know in order to get a return of fifty the ones you would have to string along. You know an incredible parlay that you know where you're not gonNA hit. It's almost almost impossible in in racing. You can put together a couple of horses exact or try and get a fifty one payoffs and it's not that it's not unusual usual. We could run through the card. They're all over the place. You know strange somebody will say all the takeout okay counts high but guess what take part ways is the roof you know they they get like forty percent on part football wagering in Bass that you know the most popular wagering in the in the world National Football League if you WANNA if you WANNA do some kind of crazy partly vegas reports. That that they're the books take on parleys is forty percent. I think that's what they're taking up keeping forty for so don't scream about the twenty five when here's a chance to make a score and yes there's there's takeout what's crazy and all of this really crazy is it. Excuse me in the in the racing world. Take you out put on the shop in the sportsman..

"Well that see how there you go with my Thanksgiving thanksgiving and you know I love Thanksgiving my favorite holiday the Thanksgiving jump the gun. Everybody's waiting everybody's waiting for and you clap the weekend. which that weekend I love? I don't I think giving Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday at my favorite stretch of the entire year. You've got horseracing got college. Football pro football. You Got Basketball's world and all this stuff everything is rolling and you got left. I mean what else. What what else could it man could a man or woman for that matter so it's a great? I'm a great time of year. So that and then we get into December yeah I'M GONNA have to pick a time and just make it happen. That's all because this is a it's a glaring wearing hole in my resume. Big Time maybe. Rate and by the way the cards and accurate uh-huh outstanding feel competitive races Quality it's been Saturday and even Sunday was was enjoyable but Saturday was a little. You know they were rate cards. Yeah today to in fact vic victim role is GONNA join US next. And we're going to do some handicapping of today's card and get Knicks final thoughts about the Breeders Cup to and is a AH experience by the way a number of people have written to me. I've gotten like three emails and a couple of either facebook or twitter kind of inquiries about the BBC BBC posting When they will lay out? You know the everybody's bet last year that took about three weeks before or a it came so I I would. I would say that you know another couple of weeks and I'll I'll put a put a request in and see if they've got a target date of when they're going going to release the the wagers of of all the players Because that file is really fun and really you know you can learn a lot about you know how some of some of the you know the big bankroll contest and when it comes to you so you can even you don't even have to qualify it by talking about just the contest environment because it's cash. It's a cash game and cash tournament tournament and people are structuring. That's like they do most days so I mean yes. The amounts are bigger. But there's a lots to learn when those get released we'll get an answer on when they're coming out you know you you talk a little bit about the Gerardi Great. BBC BBC Competition and You know I noticed. Also talked about ways that that he made A contest wager You mentioned it It was a two thousand dollar. Exactly yes straight straight. It was burt some mortar to united returned. One hundred thirty seven thousand two hundred dollars and then I mean that's like why wouldn't play at every day but I mean what what a move that was the other thing that I that I noticed about this Breeders Cup weekend And wagers here's that were made. The competition was also available through express that and we had A player wagered thirty two thousand five hundred hundred dollars In the I think it was the eleven raise. The win on the nine. Who I I think was Bricks and mortar me two thousand five of the contest wager got back sixty five thousand dollars nice score but then what what happens on on Saturday was we also had. We had seven people. Seven players hit the pick six or you know anywhere from depending on constellations things five out of six from fifty nine thousand almost sixty thousand Down the down to fifty almost fifty eight thousand so they were all right in the same ballpark and the interesting thing is the cost of those tickets. Because that's my that's my always. He's my next question you know. Okay they all pick six. What we're taking the million dollar tickets?.

"We've accomplished things are doing well And maybe somebody else will notice me and let me go to the sale for them with the you know the budget where I'll get a tap it. I've never had it before something like that. Who knows that'd be? That'd be all right Let me let me ask you about the two horses that are running actually today today the holiday Monday and you got solar in the in the sixth acqueduct and you've got to stay smart in the eighth at the parks which is a nice endless too moreover at Laurel today. So that's right that's right so we got four worth and I'll be doing a lot of stuff on the Internet watching racist while came down at my house here and Boynton beach so we got first time or second time starter at Laurel and She should run good in the first race. There we have another horse that in a claimer over it laurel named parameter. WHO's WHO's coming off of a poor performance on the grass but he's back on a dirt? He should run well so lars in New York Coming off a third place race in and clamor over at the meadowlands and drew poor post of the twelve close. But if if we're and we'RE GONNA make a bold move. I think we're going to just send them to try and put him into the race early. Because if you're rating from the twelve post you lose too much ground to Actually be effective and What else do we have stay smart as Jersey Braid running in an allowance race over I parked? So we're we're we're geared up for today. I'm just trying to call up. All these different places now makes your horse ship right. Mural settled in really nice Kelly and I I see that the speaking of those the ownership situation that USA racing and and CADILLAC CADILLAC CADILLAC's. What's Catalina Island Tambellini? Oh Yeah they they've sent you. They've got a few. Yes yes we get a little partnership partnership that was actually two different partnerships that I trained for and Mama Park. We were looking to claim the ball. Similar horses sources say horses and it was a pretty good match up to say you want to go park worse than have more worse. And that's what we did. Last era was a good fit. Good Mix Things have done. Well we they had a very good Momma Sport Kind of fun were when a bunch of races at Monmouth and give you the nice trophies at monitor and I've just been distributing At the end of the meat you guys to get you want to of these and I'm GonNa take you down to Florida and I'm GonNa Relief. I left to at my at my trophy column than I have at mom working at my house. And it's kind of neat and it's a lot of fun UPS and downs a racing but right now and the things are good. Things are good. It's a lot of great awesome. Well for those of you that have I've been listening You want to have somebody to to work with a mammoth circuit and the northeast and then down at the Florida. Kelly you know gets on the horses and can obviously pick them out for you and if you're just getting started you you couldn't work like with a better guy. I'm pony now though. Come on now on a few I I sit on the pony right now. I got the problems with L four l five and herniated disk and this and that So right now I've just been pointing from the ground or points in the pony and things are going pretty smoothly last couple of years. Well we talked to you for years and very happy whenever you whenever a good one comes your way and you obviously made it happen with this one in particular looking at lucky called as seen on TV and big rangy the and looks like he'll stretch out a nice win in that juvenile sprint snake. At called her on Saturday Kelly continued success. And we'll see you later during the winter and I know we'll be talking soon. Okay hopefully next weekend. We'll show you another fairly over at the Laura Nice nother winter. Well that's smart Halos. That's always been a very productive race that has produced nice ones so that good target. Okay good talk to you. Thanks Cal K. J. D. Kelly j breen who of course she can follow on twitter under Kelly. I think it's I think it's Kelly j breen is his. Let me let me make sure that I'm pretty sure that that's how he's got himself identified on your twitter. Let's try Kelly. J Yeah can cal- actually puts the whole name. The whole Middle Name and Kelly John Brain and then he's the he's the guy in the paddock with the with the sharp cap now. That rebe Acre is retired. Kelly's Kelly's taken on the mantle of the of the sharp hat Johnny de Standing by a holiday Monday everyday's holiday for when you're Johnny when John Good Morning I must give off. That must give off at five. That's all I can say everything here. So it's a constant vacation. Everyone thinks better wine more crying more something like that. I don't wiped off so I must just do it inside the house. Well I I was thinking to you. Oh yesterday we were at Ecuador and I walk into the racing office in the first person I see is is our man Ron Anderson and it just made me laugh because everybody's wearing quilted vast and and you know they're they're barn coats and everybody's bundled up for the early winter here in the northeast and less than a week earlier. We were all basking in the okay. Okay and the southern California sunlight work basking in any sunlight about six o'clock in the morning at Santa Anita. I think it was I am. I think it was probably in the high thirties. Maybe the woke forty in the morning out there and you're in that grandstand which doesn't doesn't really get the Sun until about ten o'clock in the morning things don't start to thaw out. It was cool. It really was in the morning out affair Shannon Nieta But of course by eleven o'clock big you're so The scene the way. The scene shifted from a from the West Coast to the east. Maybe it just it kind of mused mused me I saw so many people that had been out there and now they're all you know they they they look all lumpy and frumpy and yeah. It's funny. It's funny because I think it was last last night. Maybe we went out to dinner and we're getting ready to leave and I said where's my coat you know like it's Vinnie. Monster said that and it's like all of a sudden it's like you don't even you don't even start to. Its like he don't want winter to come or you don't think it's coming and then it's here. You know like he ever say well. I better reply my code because I'm GonNa need it it just like where's my coach. We need it and the time has come It seems based on based on on this on this trip to New York. I and it's always Ecuador Belmont to frankly I mean Belmont. It's always called the Belmont just the way it faces is and you know it's amazing how it could be so much different from the backyard to the the frontside really even even during the summer. It's it seems that sometimes but acqueduct. You're you're right off the bay and and so you know invariably if it if the sun's is not out it it it feels. It feels chilly but it was really fun to be there. They've done some nice things. Actually they created a new Horsemen an owner's lounge that on the second floor they took a section and Kinda sealed it off and they're actually going to push it even a little bit further other into some of the box seats and they never had that and It seems like a really good use of space and a lot of horsemen and owners. Where we're hanging out there there? I went there to watch the v C some of our partners and I know everybody not everybody. Some people seem to just not understand understand what what Akwa dot is in the in the ecosystem of racing and not just in New York. It's a it's an urban racetrack. It it is not the long island racetrack. It's not the country repast role racetrack it. It's a city facility. That is you know it's is it spartan. Yeah it is has about it to me. It's got a certain appeal. That is just you know. You're at acqueduct. They instantly. And it's just it's just a little a little rougher around the edges but I I love going there I'll give you a slice of racing trivia. You don't know I have never been to Ecuador in my real won a ah now you ask. Why why? How is that possible? How even possible? You're how is that your whole life. You've never been the academic now living back East you you grew up back east. Now you've been back about fifteen years twelve years whatever it's been and you've never been to act so keep trying to figure out how that's possible. The only thing the only thing I could figure out is that when I was young really young teenager I pretty much hit the local stuff that I did quickly obviously The Liberty Bell Philadelphia Parks Keystone Atlantic City. the local stuff and then As I got older and I left to go to college in California. I think I'm back for thirty years so actually when I when I did come back in in the summers from college I hit dome. The Belmont in the summer But again aqueduct wasn't open when I come home we summers so you're talking thirty years stretch and now I've been back. I think I haven't been acqueduct because it just falls in a timeframe where I'm hunker down for the winter like I don't leave my house from December I I look I have to. I do make a few trips out but December first until like you know April my house I was forced so you know it just never happened and I've gotta fix that I've got to rectify that situation where I don't know but I've got to take care of that now. There's there's plenty you know coming up this coming up. Even this you've got you've got opportunity with the.

"He Kelly Breen joins us. Congratulations are you doing great. How you been pretty good pretty good? What's what's the story with this With the skull. He's you know he he's a he's a nice good looking Colt More than pleased with them ran. Well first time out You know ran into a nice source and Meru and his second start and happy to be training them. Give us a little back story. Then we'll talk about the career arc fifty thousand at ob. April fact fact. Just talk to cassie about an OB s April purchase for a little bit more money and you know winner at first asking who is screen door. Who put this together? So I I have a new client and if the save this has been a very good year for me had a good mom at park and and I don't want to call it expanded my horizons for For what I have but I've no longer the private trainer for For anybody and it took a couple years of getting out there and get my name out if I would try to say I've been A little bit sheltered as for Mike Growth and it was I might have been out in the public eye but I haven't trained for a whole a lot of different people so you you. I was leading trainer at Monmouth Park. And that was what a small group of Monmouth Park People. My name people know my name. But it's I've only trained for a certain amount of owners so I get I get a guy that comes to the barn through a mutual friend is name is Allen who owned screen door stable and I was asked to go to possibly by a horse or to form at the sale and You know a budget as to where we might think that a guy getting his first worse would be a decent budget and if it goes bust you don't spend too much and at the same time. Where have I've I have done well in the past as if I had to say to somebody at the seventy seven thousand number is a pretty good number? One have bought a lot of stakes horses or caliber horses of that such so we went to the sale with the thought of you. Know top number and low number in this worse fit right in the middle For fifty thousand and we so far. We've hit a home run I I would say looking at Lucky Day untamed passion. And you know what I'm just looking at the damn. This is the damage cage fighter. Who was a was a nice steak horse as it happened? So the fifty thousand feels like a like a bargain. Actually it's kind of a or meat and potatoes I. I don't have the unlimited funds unlimited funded owners that says the go to the sale. And now I've always been pretty Stringent on what. I'm looking at what to buy I bought all of Might I- courses in the past mostly for as yearlings When I was working for Ben Perkins Senior and go into the sales with him He just had an extreme green stream. I and he didn't say much semi I I had to do my own. Learn and watching what he liked and was very fortunate enough to To buy some young horses whether they were yearlings or two year old And do well with them. You know so this is another horse. Put a feather grandma. Caplis the saying This is quality so how did how did this horse breeze in the in the sale. And and what did you like about him. The way when you can't devote too much information they go to jail. I I've got a a limited budget and we gotta try and figure out Do you do diligence. Look at all the horses that you possibly can what might fall through the cracks. What might We'd be able to afford to raise czar hand and you know you. You have all this checklist of what we would like. I would like for a horse and I gave Allen a list of about twenty to twenty five horses and he actually came to the sale with me and we're GONNA start bidding. We're going to have them vetted doubt and this was one of the ones that we were fortunate enough to To get and you know he had a nice breeze is a long stride Some of the things that are good for racing and I don't know about the How good they are for buying? But the workouts are on the Pali track it'll be s Not My first surface of top choices but hey we bought a horse like this for fifty thousand and he went on. I wanted to do good things I think. In two years ago I bought take charge. Paula added that sale for seventy thousand or whatever and she's rated stakes winner and so coming out of we've done well and I'm just watching the breeze. First of all you had a bunch of things that seem to work together to make this happen. This was on the fourth day of the sale. So you know some people end up you know you end up with a smaller group. That was a really nice breeze. He's and he starts out a little high headed and then really levels off and he's a long body horse. He's he's going to stretch out. Hopefully we didn't think we're it's GonNa be this fast or need to be fast that in two races that he's Unbelievable extremely fast races you. It's good and bad for the trainer. I gotta worry about her soundness but at the same time if you have a horse that is running this fast and doing it. Easy enough You like to have them in your barn. He's a a big good looking boy. Fifty Thousand Great Job Kelli. That's that's exciting citing and of course comes back in this spot and you know it doesn't he's he. He seems like a worse that that will do what's asked that you know. He's he's he's he's not he's not demanding the lead. This was Pacos. First Time on him. what did say when he got off. PROC O.'s. Been Breezy the name. He's spun me for his first race. The now it's just a matter of WHO's GonNa ride him next time Out we like Paco We'll see what what entails and the future do we go with a the a high profile a rider. Next time out Do we stay with with Paco You know and try not to be to I don't know self conscious of of when you have a guy that That didn't WanNa ride him and now and you know loves them you you know. We loved them from the start. You're the one who didn't WanNa ride him in the past So He's gotten three races with three different riders We do like Paco. I've had luck in the past with Paco. But we'll see you know that nothing's aged in stone and he's also We had a couple of offers for him to be for sale I don't plan on selling them just yet. But you know when the when the number comes turning a profit isn't always the worst thing either so well the one thing that we've we've come to one expression we've come to say is that the answer is always yes where in some at some point the answer is always yes. Everything's for sale out online. Every worth can can go a mile and a quarter is just gonNA find is lower horses going a mile and a quarter. Well I'm excited for you. And what's what's the the owner's name of screen door you mentioned. First Name Allan Allan Swift. That's a great name. The guy's name is swift. How can go wrong? Everything is worked out. Well Plan so far now. It's just a matter of the what plan hand we go from here. What do we go on here? as it do we have a worse always have high hopes of putting on a Derby Irby trail and we only have a handful of two year olds this year so trying to figure out where we fit in the global picture you know He. It might be our best two year old Colt but what does that put you in the realm of you know the the top dogs have forces for millions of dollars. You Know Hey. He did run a nice race Iran. Well but do we need to go full steam ahead or do we say let's give him a month or so often some random in February or or but he is in it Palmetto Suzanne Florida. He's enjoying stay so far in sunny south Florida. Arta where everybody right now. We're all enjoying it well and I'm excited for you and and for the team This is obviously a serious horse moving into the winter and may have one that you left up at Monmouth. That's that's got to run this week. I see you double entered the ORB Philly per sisto. who was a very good second in her debut behind? And what might be a nice horse of Sean Shea and lend green and John Service Talk about persist. Oh Yeah a little disappointed in. I'm getting beat first. Time out to be honest with you but She's a nice four she might have some future ahead of a war. Front mayor got a little bit of a turf. It but I'm trying to keep her on the dirt for right now and Y- we were hoping you know the win first time out but it is what it is this next start. You got a couple of nights horses in the race. He's GonNa end up running on Friday once you went there and back to back days right. The race that was entered third for Friday was a mile in eighth. And that's where we were going and In the middle of the afternoon I got a phone call thing from naira era that we're GonNa make the reason mile so apparently somebody else not me one of the race going a mile and they bowled a Easy switch on and next thing you know it's not a mile and an eighth anymore at the mile but we're in it You know you got a couple of nights sources a miniature version of the WHO. Wouldn't you got Billy Martin. Pletcher has got to win. There and Rudy Rodriguez got one and it's never an easy spot but I do like the Philly She's just a big long striding mayor the longer the better Ed. Or that's why we were looking for a mile and an eighth. We entered in the first race for seven furlongs just as the backup and they New York so that they would let me out if I if the race where to go the next day going longer so right now. We're full steam ahead. Friday act with duct Saturday. I have a Philly in Laurel. Name name cofactor. She won last time out a two year old filly at keeneland. And she's in the halo stakes. Smart Halo Sake that at Laura we one that I think with that really. I was speaking about Paula. See One that the two years ago three years ago three years ago. Oh so but it's more horses small stable that we have I couldn't be more proud of.

"And then similarly expects him expects him to be successful. I heard who was it. Yesterday that Kelly Breen. Kelly. Breen mentioned constitution. Yeah. No. He's definitely had some steam behind him at the yearling sales and has a lot of the right people talking about them and see what he does now. But there's definitely some nice ones by him in here as well. Yeah. There's a constitution. I really like on data to I'm hoping Kelly's not on the horse because I might make a bitter too. So that's not the only lakes. Well, talk about talk about your your group and how you're doing. It's Franklin have equine got about seven and training right now, we've got to New York lead your mighty and then for Jason Barclay. We're gonna get him some more hopefully at the two year old sales. We buy at auction claimed kind of do everything just hopefully starting to build it up a little bit have some success. So how can people find more formation Franklin at av equine dot com? There you got. All right. Snappy snappy, silk think. A picture actually put it up. You talk about the the right people being on horses. And I it's one of the things that over the years originally with regular conversations with with plenty Cain oak for and as I was kind of learning where money gravitated, and when you particularly on the yearly market and then most recently with this wing to your Ling pin hook market that came out of nowhere that that was just like, oh, why didn't somebody think of this before? We would if Lenny and I would kind of go through and and note who was buying these first crop types. And when you know when people you respect the, and and people that, you know, have got a track record when they're buying those wheelings, and those yearlings that's a major endorsement, and you don't have to be some confirmation expert. You know, if you're if you're just emerging and waiting into this marketplace, you can follow the leaders and get a feel for for where things are headed. And who probably has a better than average chance of being successful. Definitely. I remember at Saratoga the New York bred sale. I was looking at some competitive edge is in every time. I went to look at one Mike Ryan was already looking. I can't afford. It must be interesting. And you could you could go you could go to the to the Barnes shadow. Basically, just being I'm sure I'm sure there's plenty of people that do that. Now, you definitely could learn a lot by this being even just being here and seeing what's going on. If you paying close enough attention. I feel like you pick up a lot without even realizing it just to walk through the backstretch. And if you happen to be looking at a horse, and you see who else is calling the horse out. You know, you're you're probably looking at something pretty good. One of the things that I just addict otaly because camera was with us yesterday. And. The situation, of course in California. Feels like there were more than more than usual war, California, horsemen, we're we're visiting at took the opportunity to slip over here. You know, Phil D'amoto Peter Miller, we saw Peter Jon Sadler holiday, or for course, and et cetera. So I think I think baby there's a couple of extra heads that. Are that are, you know, look at it at horses that that could drive the top sellers every year, more and more people show up to this L. Even though you're saying, APRIL's, kind of become the bigger thing. Now, it's you don't see many people sit this one out though, either everybody's going to be here and the right horses are going to go to the right home for the right money. I don't think you're gonna catch too many bargains with everybody in town. Here we keep we keep hearing. And it's now become protracted the this middle market concerns. And at what point because everybody, you know, every every quote, whether it's Browning or whether it's Jeff Russell or or Tom Vittore and. And any the sales people. They they keep saying..

Kelly Breen Franklin Jason Barclay New York California Lenny Mike Ryan Jeff Russell Browning Saratoga Phil D'amoto Tom Vittore Peter Jon Sadler Peter Miller two year
