Matt Harvey's MLB Career Is Over
"There's a new story now, Matt Harvey, who was a great pitcher for the mets. They called him The Dark Knight. And he's now involved in this death of a California angels pitcher who was taken percocet and did Coke and Harvey happen to be there. Harvey happened to give him the pills and this guy ODed and Harvey's career is basically over. Because you look back on his days as it met when he didn't show up for spring training when he had a fight with a teammate when he left, but he needed to get out of a game early. You go, wait, those are cocaine moments. You recognize that now, some of us saw that stuff happening and said, he's on, he's on blow, man. I can tell. I knew when Doc gooden was getting high as it met. But Coke game was all around us in the 80s in New York, especially in New York. We had our athletes alone, Lawrence Taylor, Michael ray Richardson, Doc gooden, Dallas strawberry, Keith Hernandez, his career was almost room because he couldn't shake cocaine. Mike Tyson, of course, everywhere. But this fall of Matt Harvey's has been quick and steep.

"The red sox have been decimated by couvert. We're talking a dozen players three all-stars at least five pitchers some of them actually had to leave mid game after testing positive and that is while they are trying to edge their way into the playoffs. This raises a lot of questions. Scoffed old. I think you can tell the christopher crews here check the score. It does chris. This raises a lot of questions. I really been thinking this about socks. Management and how the mlb chose to handle this versus. how other both huge businesses and industries and local businesses and industries here in massachusetts have chosen to handle covert robust and chris. Eric welcome verbs so this is a stunning situation. Chris started okay. Started with the vaccinated player. Keith hernandez showing symptoms didn't think they were was not tested and then travelled on a plane with the team and it spread like wildfire. So i i want to start with where the team is on vaccinations. Yeah and that has been a point of contention all season right. We've talked about the fact that they are one of. I think six teams in major league baseball. That has not been able to get up over that. Eighty five percent vaccination rate We don't actually know where they're at. We've been told there are no teams in the league that are significantly below. But that's obviously vague. Who knows what that means in terms of actual numbers Alex cora hind bloom red sox management has for some reason struggled to impress upon their players. The importance of getting vaccinated And really the red sox were lucky. This didn't happen sooner. They got through all of twenty twenty. They got through almost five months of this season without dealing with this and the fact that they're one of the That they have one of the lowest vaccination rates in the league and have not had this kind of outbreak really. It's kinda surprising. So i want to invite listeners to join this conversation one. Eight hundred four two three eight two five five. That's one eight hundred four to three talk..

This family arrives at september seventeenth nineteen ninety-six it is cubs at matt's it is the nfl east on the line. Dot good in is on the hill. What's the scene like at shea stadium. Such a great scene and we were really lucky enough to get some fans who had brought their newfangled camcorders to the game and so we have some fantastic fan. Footage has never been seen before. And it's it's insane. What happens when the last album is made the right side of the field back. If over gonna are scarring veal. Ten thousand fans are on the field within a minute. One of the mets overheard on some of the footage saying they swarmed the field like bees. And the mets were scared. Somebody grabbed her his hat but he didn't get his club. This kid came up and grabbed my glove and try to take my glove. I looked when i had to stare down a fan to hold onto his glove. It's just almost like a riot. Is the one time sandy carter. Gary's widow told us one time she lived in new york city that she was actually scared of new york city bodies rolling down on top of the screen above us. I think that's the only time. I really was afraid of new york. It's just a a raucous wild celebration that you you don't see anymore now i mean there's there's lawlessness there when the ball is approaching keith hernandez you can see people already putting feet onto the infield dirt. It's wild wild. And it's the culmination of that summer of wildness. He felt like at any minute that summer. Anything could happen for good or for ban. It was crazy. It was unruly in another one of these moments. Where the city team just sort of fused together coming up. Why be wildest parts of that. Entire eighty six playoff.

"I mean he'll be nba champion. So yeah you get up. Not that my opinion would change of him as a player but clearly he would have to prove right. He's been mvp multiple times Winning a championship is the last thing. I'm not. It's like a worst player in the league but there s a superstar player. I'd like to see somebody a little more well rounded than jaanus. This was not a topic. But as we're taping this. I'm looking at twitter. And i see a tweet here. And you work at us in wine diehard diehard mets fans. Maybe you could shed some light on this. Because i didn't know this. I'm seeing a tweet that says keith hernandez will be back in the midst booth on friday following his yard work slash. Hot tub injury. What the hell happened to keith. Apparently i don't know if he was going to trim a tree or something like that and he was each stood on his hot tub to reach the tree branch or whatever it was and slipped and fell yawn. I don't know if he did something to his ankle. Forget me exact extended but it was something like that And he had a little accident. I guess he was out right before the all star break and you know obviously then had the all star break as well so it wasn't a major scare major issue but so he's doing yardwork tub fell bell. Yes i don t yard work. And i love keith. You know it's funny. We keep came on this podcast summer. He did it from his backyard. Insane harbor so i gotta look at the backyard. So it's interesting video. I listen to you did it. We did it be video on zoom but it was before we started posting videos on youtube. We didn't we did the pod via zoom because of the pandemic. it was just tape them from home. But we didn't decide to start putting on youtube until i think a little bit after that one. I wish we had that one because he was sitting in his backyard. It was funny last thing the wwe today on thursday. They're making a big deal over twitter. Vince mcmahon actually. Not a tweet about. They're going back on the road..

Because the museum construction in Cooperstown had not started. So they picked their first Hall of Fame class. And the building wasn't even established. At that point. I'd never heard that 1957 on this day. This is eerie, with the advent of coast to coast air travel and Major League baseball. The league considers a plan creating a player pool to be used in the event of an air disaster. The idea was if a plane went down, every team would make a player available from the roster that will allow this state 1958 stay unusual. The official statistic was dropped after nine years of use. The Mets. Keith Hernandez had 129 career game winning RB eyes at that point, and they determined that the legitimacy of that stat was kind of in question is kind of goofy because you could pick up the game winning RB I and like the second inning, and then they said they thought about it for nine years is that I that pride didn't make any sense, so they stopped using it. 1995 the 40 Niners become the first franchise to win five Super Bowls. I think one of the things that fans love about you is that you're not afraid to complain about your job which you when you're around something like sports I write about sports you talk about sports people. Never want to hear US ever complain about our jobs. But if you're a human being and you have a boss I, think you automatically can are allowed to complain about if you're not your own boss, you can complain about your job. So I love that sometimes we get the feeling that you may be rather at a restaurant at nine o'clock at night then at city field watching long boring mets game. Well. I Don't complain about my job I complain about the state of the game of when I have to watch sometimes at that that that gets a little tiresome but otherwise, it's okay. I'm good I have no complaints. What would you say in your opinion? Biggest problem with the game right now, if you you said the state of the game, this is unusual right now of the the this cove itsy. "You is someone that is seen at all when the Mets acquired Keith Hernandez it was about a month before I was born so while I know eight nineteen eighty three exactly and I was born July eleventh nineteen eighty three is a little bit less than a month was that still the old trade deadline by the way June fifth yes yeah what changes to July third I don't have a lot a lot D. was excellent later after that to be honest with you interesting interesting yeah how would you could now the Mets won the World Series with key didn't win with Mike piazza but both were in the middle of the season obviously Mike there was about a month earlier was made a few weeks earlier and they both seem to call Matt at absolutely no where when they happen how would you compare the two well I mean I think that Hernandez trade even came out of no where more than a piazza tree you know there was talk about it you know you had Mike and Chris talking it up about that the Mets should make this move they did trade piazza from the Dodgers tomorrow and said you know he was going to say right you know is temporary right so you so you wasn't as surprising as the Hernandez trade because they're near the strait of Afghan with on the nineteen eighty three you know you know it's a different world you know thirty seven years ago as we all know and you know so there was no there was no inkling anywhere I mean I I mean what if that was that was like completely out of left field you you talk about being stunned when I heard about that trade I was stoned I was not a stunt about the piazza trade yeah I just thought the thing was with the piazza trade is when Mike got traded to the Marlins which did come out of left field because I don't even think Mike thought he was gonna be traded he wanted a new contract star hearing boos at Dodger Stadium but owning anyone necessarily thought that they were traded especially to the Marlins who were in the midst of their giant sale selloff after winning the World Series in ninety seven you're right that we knew okay Mike's not lasting in Florida but even as a kid I do believe the Mets were interested because they had taught only I just never assume and Todd was heard at the time I get it he was supposed to come back right around August but I never thought despite making Chris and met fans going up this radio station Beggin for asking for it I never for a second I thought it was gonna happen so you're right in terms of it didn't necessarily come out of left field because you're right P. address can be traded right but I never for a moment then I think they were gonna make that trade right and that's why that that deal when it was announced was very surreal even all these years later twenty two years later like you talk about with finding out about the Keith Hernandez trade that's the way it still is for me it's it's unfortunate that there's no World Championship to talk about that's unfortunate right so you know when you kind of look at the Mike piazza era sure was successful injury was a big superstar all that when they made that deal my dream is that gonna win a World Series and instead they got the one World Series loss to the Yankees and you know all the fame pitcher who should be in the hall of fame is going back to my piazza so did exactly go the way it was scripted but it was to me at least a shocker in the moment and I remember for like a couple weeks say to my dad I can't believe Mike piazza Matt I think I repeated that phrase over and over again because he was such a big star and at that moment you know having a larger than life star on the Mets felt very surreal especially after the ugly rebuild they were dead just gone through from right where's the money could buy to where they were in ninety eight right now kind of like you I mean I I didn't really necessarily think it was going to happen to the Mets but like I said it was it was out there where to Hernandez thing just was you know completely adolescent girls like I'm not even a thought that there's something like that might happen but all these years later to you you cherish the Keith trade more than the piazza trade is up yeah so asleep though and it's not because they won the championship which is because it was just so you know so starting I mean it was just you know it it really it was similar in a way because it cuts it it kind of put the Mets back to being the relevancy someone again but it messily said ninety seven had been a team that was a winning team in a one eighty eight games even though they weren't very exciting and but still like they did you know where as the Mets in nineteen eighty three were brutal right right all yeah yeah you know when you're hundreds are right about that I mean ninety seven that was there kind of break out year right really really in a pennant race with violence but they did win AT a game show and they were good T. Bobby Valle tie was a manager with these things you know it's it's forgotten about now but about two weeks before they made this trade I was so excited on the middle a may night when they were playing the cardinals of memory serves correct because the Mets number one prospect was making his major league debut and I was pumped up because at that moment you know that's what you're looking for the next superstar and that of course was Mookie son Preston Wilson right right and I remember that night press night three or four right and I think the next ninety went three for four so he got off to this incredible start and I am Jack lamb all my god this guy's going to be a stars me better than Mulkey he's getting hit forty home runs some day and two weeks later he's not he's in the deal and and look at the moment to get Mike piazza you say out whatever you know Jeff gets was a big prospect to the high school pitcher as was and your nail there with three guys you are now yes and your nail ended up getting traded for Mike Lowell I think is your daily ally to trade did you get it was it was a party allied if you're from Florida no no they traded at your nail to the Marlins for Mike piazza all rights right okay right but then they get you on L. for now maybe I'm wrong no I think he was what I think happened with that Yarnell who made it to the lighter with him anyway because they made so many trades with the Marlins it gets confusing al Leiter Dennis cook but ADR now was a prospect with the met to me was you know the pitching prospect and I think he ended up getting traded by the Marlins to the Yankees for Mike Lowell mmhm and then his major league career was with the Yankees he pitched for the Yankees for about five minutes and right right and didn't do it just find out right so for the moment to turn in a Michael that's great point initially at your nose in the deal Jeff Katz I I don't I don't know what the hell happened here I don't know it and hopefully he's okay right now I don't I don't know what happened was career the president Wilson his credit had a very solid major league career you know he can be call Mike piazza he can become maybe the guy I envisioned it really happened with the Rockies more than anybody else ever had that huge here with the Rockies A. O. two O. three O. four kind of in that range Boyd he was the case and he was the guy that two weeks earlier as a met fan I was all excited about we got Preston Wilson he's gonna be better than okay he never became that as good a player as we thought he was not they had some good years I yeah I put it in one year with the Rockies manager over a hundred fifty runs I know it sounds nuts but I think it was that high a hundred and fifty I'm telling you had this monitor he went around a hundred and fifty all be our year okay I'm off by nine thirty one one forty one I don't believe we draw what year was that only three he drove it a hundred and forty one runs when he led the league yep two thousand three not quite one fifty I apologize how many homers yet that you thirty six while he had I I would I would never guess that he had it drove it a hundred and forty one runs away any finished sixteenth in the MVP voting mainly because he played a course field I'm sure the other guys on the Rockies right right he ended up having it one year with the Marlins thirty one home runs a hundred and twenty one RBIs in two thousand so a few years removed so yeah it's a pretty good years yep Ephraim Avenue yeah because you know at the end he ended up on St Louis and he was actually on that six cardinal team that beat the Mets in oh six I remember that either I do the one thing I remember about Preston in that series I hate to say well I don't hate to say it they they got him out so easily and he was an easy out but he didn't put any damage against the Mets using yadi Molina or anything like that right very few people that we can make that statement about the whole don't say it often now but yet twenty two years ago today the Mets made the big trade the infamous trade while for Mike piazza and unfortunately they couldn't deliver championship which is the crying shame out of the whole thing yep but you know what they made the right decision because Todd Hundley no offense the tadi it's in good years with the Mets never the same after that injury now never so if the man you love them either out of the body really love taught only yeah I don't think Bobby everywhere some issues there would hardly what is the other he just wasn't the transcendent player might not so no no no you know he he was one of those guys that was there for a long time you know he finally broke through really in ninety six with that ninety six was that weird year where Larry Johnson runs yeah he broke the catching home run record but him lance Johnson Bernard Gilkey had these awesome often have years but the team stunk yep it was ninety one games and the following year he was hurt and fought through the injury ended up having a good year but had to shut it down at the end because they were they were out of the pennant race he was hurting a big surgery may have been Tommy John asks surgery that he had and that's why he was missing most of nineteen ninety eight but even after they traded him and you know was going to work you know put him unless he was a disaster they could move to first base that'll reduce just wasn't work with Todd Hundley we traded to the Dodgers he never had a great year again that was it Jamie though they made the wise choice here yeah and I think the only tree when they don't come away with from under Benitez is that right yeah I think it was a three way trade actually not terrible you think about it I mean your mother did have some some moments as long as it was a big big games that's right and you know well they they got also got a young Rogers to Daniel in the tree too yeah okay when is a good use of it today yeah yeah the the big here in ninety nine and the trading for Mike Hampton right the mistake.

"And George was a big part of my life and my schooling as far as teaching the fundamentals of the game. Which George was known for Bob Kennedy Stating Your you know Dell Mac os in the minor religious all your bobby millikin. All you know Fred. Cain all the whole school guy that taught us the fundamental the car go away and there was a cardinal way back then you were taught. I didn't have to talk. I always thought it was the most beautiful uniform in baseball. And but it was instilled in you with great pride to wear that uniform. The birds on the bat they you know. The cardinals have won the most world series next to the Yankees the most in the National League There's a pride they're putting on that Jersey and It was instilled So yes at this kind of training right now you know it brings back memories of the minor leagues all those kids out in the field as long as and back then they all they did was give bagels and coffee. Went out there and play all you know you got out there. At ten o'clock and Calisthenics in day was an overdose six soup and crackers for lunch and it was barely barely sustains you back in those days today today where they feed them so well. I think they should against the right thing to do. You got to feel the body for those guys to go out and work final question for you outside of of eighty-two outside of maybe the MVP what are your fundus memories when you reflect back on your time in Saint Louis. Oh Gosh I think you know. I've lived through those years when Gibson retired. And you know carver last and the only one that was really left with what the end was Gibson and Lou and Lou stayed longer and that was the last No remnant of those great sixty cardinal teams that went to the world series three times and and one twice and then we have the down years so years where we weren't very good and then that one year when red was fired and seventy six when we wanted. Excuse me be lost ninety games. I never realized until I did. My Book Aren't you through mandates that that was the first partner team since around? Nineteen sixteen that lost ninety games in a season. I had no idea about that. But to see a turnaround and the fans. Come you know the fans of how appreciative they were coming back and being part of a rejuvenation of good cardinal teams baseball. That was at that that you know having gone through hard difficult seasons where I was part of the reason why struggling had to find myself and then to see it all come together that is just to ultimately co championship is the best The most fondest memories. I wouldn't WanNa be my twentieth again. I wouldn't want to be in. Nineteen seventy five. Seventy six seventy seventy five. And Ron Darling and that's former cardinal first baseman Keith Hernandez Keith always good to visit with you our things great Dan Getting ready for another season just like our of the fans and New York and save us. Well it's going to be an interesting year. I gotta get your thoughts on what's happening with the Houston Astros and the cheating scandal. What what did you think about all this as it unfolded this off season? Well I think they took it to a different LE on another level. I think that when they brought in all the analytics and then the instant replay And they'll be. I think they can kind of invited this sort of corruption and and It's gotta be stopped. I'm of the feeling that You know these players come to the Ballpark at twelve noon. For a seven o'clock game seven hours they at I six hours. They can study all computers. They want all the information they want all the Intel and then you know once the game starts at this. No electrtonics everything. Shut down in the ballpark in the dugout. I mean ipad in the dugout. You're absolutely absurd It looks like they're not going to address it that they're going to let that continue as long as we understand. That IPADS are preprogrammed. Who's GonNa who's GonNa make sure that their report the proper pre-programme sure you don't? You don't need all this stuff. Okay you gotTA telephone. You've got five coaches you got a manager with is that are being paid To school coach and manage a team and they should know when a pitchers losing who stuff in manager makes a decision. Not someone up in the clubhouse. That's on a computer that a analyzing every pitch and saying spin rate is he's losing you spend right you gotta get him out. It's a professional player. Paint them to make decisions on the field. I'm curious your thoughts on this. The game is so different today. Your teams were so much fun to watch. What do you think your teams would do specifically the eighty two team that won in today's Era Baseball? What do you think compare? I mean you know Rocky Marciano and Fighting Muhammad Ali Mohammed Ali fighting over now. The athletes are bigger stronger. Better conditions Then we were. We pretty much played ourselves into shape. But the way you guys played the Game Keith was fun and it was a different style. It's just become more Paul run You know it's like football. I talked to a lot of NFL players. Play in in the sixties and And Seventies and you know the big Lineman were two hundred seventy five towns and there was footwork fundamentals and blocking now today It's just three hundred town line. Then you just pushed the guy around you know. They claim to do this. No more fundamental basketball three point. Play the you know is exciting as it is. It's changed dramatically but all the little details. I mean earl the Pearl Monroe who visited New York. I've known the Earl. And he said anybody. Can you know talk about the dunks? Regis and anybody can gauntlet. Can you hit the ten foot jumper on a down a down a point of those kinds of things? Baseball's finally gone that way and It's his home on strike out or walks and a lot of it too if too much mental thinking out. There pitchers got your own to They used to come after the hitters in trouble. When you're on to your one and then if you work the count to three until you turned the tables and that's at Linson the game at all these pitches. Talk with Whitey. Want SOME WATER LOOKS AT USA. Today and counts per pitches. And how many coaches in the game? He said cheese is sometimes. There's a lot of times over three hundred pitches in a game that adds take time to the game. Not How do you address that when you have that mentality where pitchers in my day and I hate to always say? This would say if they got in trouble they were behind an account. Well I didn't give into the hitter right after well today. It's just the opposite that pitches. Say I didn't give into him so I wasn't gonNA throw him a fastball. Just the reverse so the lot. A whole different kind of philosophy and thinking and You know I've come to terms with it. I just come to the park show up on time every once in a while we got a game you know we. We had Most of the time. It's you know you go six innings. You got starters out. Geez we're less than two hours here. It might be under three hour game and sure enough they come to go to the bullpen late in the game and Nixon. You know it's a three hour and twenty thirty minute game. What did you think this off? Season with Ted Simmons finally getting into the hall of fame and by the way analytics probably helped him get into the hall of fame. But your former teammate. What did you think of Teddy getting into cooperstown? Well I thought it was fantastic. I must say to his his old school numbers just wrong guy and how he ranked catchers. You'll be better courses. It always always the benchmark for so long and tense. Certainly have the numbers to be there. He was a terrific offensive player. Clutch hitter I waited around for. Four days for your. I figured pets phone was blown up. You know when he got when he got in got it so I waited around four days for the cool down and now I had a long conversation with him. I actually going to try to Ask FM if I can get the hall of fame weekend off and signed someone in a rescheduling three games. Whatever and let me go up to Cooperstown and be there for tens induction and it's outstanding Keith. Hernandez our guest. I want to ask you about the cardinals hall of fame. I think Keith. You've got a great shot to get in. You should be in any way but it's going to happen but far fans. What would it mean to Keith Hernandez to put on that red jacket and go into the Cardinals Hall of fame? It would be everything to man. I think. All the cardinal that were around me Back when I was coming up and playing playing. They're playing against them. They don't know that was a cardinal fan of a kid and it was a dream come true for me just to put the cardinal uniform on the minor leagues and then also play on a big league level For eight year eight and a half years their world championship back since no I once in sixty seven with those great sixties cardinals It would mean So much for me and my my brother my parents would ally with me and a whole lot to that and I know that but my my brother Was We both grew up together. Cardinal Fans and Gary Sunday play a lot in the cardinal uniform. And it would just be very very very proud. I hope you know about this. Chinooks rewards out. I know a lot of people you know they look back at at Keith Hernandez with Saint Louis and they think well. It was the mets and a great player in. Saint Louis but the mets and the cardinals had that unbelievable rivalry made it so much fun but to your point you love the cardinals. You grew up. You know visiting Stan musial in the in the in the clubhouse and seeing these greats it's cardinal blood is kind of in your blood and people probably need to know that a little bit more as they decide to make their vote this year. I think my favorite player my idol growing up with Mickey Mantle. So that made me a Yankee Fan and I was making nail fan because when I got his first baseball car and I maybe six years old seven years old and I flipped over the backside into the bio looked at his numbers and then I saw his birthday. I'm born on the same day as Mickey Mantle up over twentieth so that made me a Mickey Mantle Fan but in the nineteen sixty four world series. I was rooting for the cardinals. I love it. This time of year has got to bring back memories to because in your book. I'm Keith Hernandez I love reading how you went through the minor leagues and being such a young kid and the I. I would assume that this time of year brings back so many memories of being a minor leager and going through spring training with the St Louis Cardinals for Keith Hernandez yes and it was over in Saint Pete in those days and I have you know I missed George Kissel so much. You know tragically was killed in.

"Out the Russell Wilson. Yeah. Dude, I'm sick or with. How about how about the Phoenix cardinals just the whole organization to nine hundred eighty eight loss down there. Beat them since two thousand fourteen. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Now what are you saying the current Arizona Cardinals? Yeah. There were Phoenix back. Eight Arizona nine Jose Arizona school Polly talking five years without a win. So we got the cardinals. What the have far we got Russell Wilson. We got kershow agitated upset. Jesus man. I was laid to start the show. But no nobody owns the warriors. Really do. They not know wrapped. Drake Kershaw farve and Drake is the current ownership list. But man, there he is again doing his thing. And you know, it listen I'm not gonna worry too much about it giants lost season. But they're having a nice month, you can lose to curse shots. Okay. It's back tonight with my may indeed p drew Pomeranz out there. The lefty doing his thing, I'm only sad. He's not going to be wearing the orange. Paulie? Yeah, he usually does well with the Sandrine. Yeah. So doing their thing. Yeah. But that was a bad a bad loss. Dp went with it last night, not not that deep actually I knew it was a new. It was not going to be a giant night. It was obvious right from the beginning. How did you give up blink down to me? Anderson kind of leveled out little bit. I'm still like Sean Anderson. I like this. He's not going to be a dominant piece is my figure. He he's, he's going to be a middle of the rotation guy. It looks like he's like he's comfortable out there, though. It looks like that's where he should be like on that level of it huge flippers look like he has big feet. I was noticing that into that know. I know. All the flippers. What happens on Tuesday night in June? Watching him. I was like gigantic feet. I got it. Well, or was it something, maybe there's an optical illusion going on with my TV? Going back to Tommy Lee already opening segue. Big big faster. You go there mad at least once a show. I've known you stay above. Shout out board. But anyway, so yeah, he steadied he went five and two thirds. You know he did. He was not a disaster at all. He went five and two thirds, give three runs. No, he wasn't awesome. But he was you know, he was he gave them a chance to win. Like I said, we had that riff yesterday for people who missed it that if Bumgarner gets traded to the Yankees, he's going to be absolutely flabbergasted that he has a team scoring more than one run for him. You know, he like you were saying y'all gave me six y'all. Give me seven wall. What do I do with that? He's also going to be flabbergasted. What he's got a two strike count in the sixth inning on somebody, and the entire stadium is standing and cheering them to strive Yahoo stadium. You would hope so speaking the pennant race they showed well in October last year. But still it was like they finally came back. Yeah. They did show well and, and by the way, Edwin, Encarnacion homered, part of the pope RIA said we have for you is the new John sterling home run call for Edwin Encarnacion. There's a lot of little stuff out there today. Let a little things. We'll make another Phil Mickelson entry into the social media's as it involves thumbs catalog. We thumbs. Sione. We got all sorts of things going on. But we do have to say good morning to Bonnie, Jill laflin, who I don't know how deep beverage, I commented you yesterday. I feel good morning. Yeah. I complimented you on staying up late with the giants on Monday night. But I can't imagine you stay too long. I did you did the an post game too? Are you out of your mind? I y I know I was right. I knew we weren't going to come back. I'm just a glutton for punishment know. I don't know. Game on. You didn't watch watch it all the way through while when the Keith Hernandez, grand slam, kind of I was like, okay that's it. Remember your boy, pomeranian speaker Shaw this year? About a week. Yeah. That's a Ray of hope he's going tonight. Again. We can beat him once of hope Ray of light shut up Madonna them, there you go. Twenty three wins for Kershaw the most against any team for the giants. And he's beating the giants more than any other team in its division. There was rumors that he was. He was in decline. He seven and one with a two point eight five. Lashing near before. I remember now he looks pretty good to me, man. Yeah. And he's numbers against the is looking up the Crawford Crawford struck out. I think it was still to nothing game. They had a runner in scoring position and Crawford struck out. And I looked it up. He's like, he's like five for fifty against them, or something like five for forty nine or something. At least we are in an his six and then wheels fell off in the seven Halloween in so. Stereo dragging Holland around. I don't even want him in there anymore. No. Honestly, we've got to have some real talk about Derrick holiday when it's a lost cause he's known as Derek lost cause Holly. But that doesn't mean he's obligated to cough up another couple or two or three just kind of feels like it as well. I want to chip in. He's gonna get a get a couple on me. It kind of feels gonna goes in buddy Jo he's like I might as well. Throw a log on the fire here. Exactly right. That's we call them lost causes that his new nickname lost causing who do you go to lunch with lost cause? Yes. Derek lost cause so NBA draft tomorrow you Albion. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Good points there that Draymond was taken late and combined. So, yeah, we'll see. However, there's also guys taken late that have never contributed. That's always. That's always a fact, even guys who were lottery picks could be boss. You never know. Well actually saw the stat the Toronto. Raptors won the NBA championship, and they don't have they didn't have a single lottery pick on their roster about that staff right about that stat. That's something. Okay. So just a couple of things about it. Like if you wanna look optimistically, manage nobly was number fifty seven. It's so funny. We this gets dusted off every year. Like there's, there's Manu Ginobili miracles out there. Right. Tony Parker was number twenty eight. Right. So but here national guys that's one guys were. That's when the league was scared to take some of those guys right forward thinking, right? Here's some lottery. Busts for your for your fun memories with lottery picks chose I do they chose him with a lottery. Pick member. Ralph was really into him. This is old school, now, old school can be our Bonnie Jo Ralph Barbieri. He was really into the. I think he the UB good Patrico Bryant was a boy. He was a lottery pick. Brian, Joe in the words were so bad. And we used to put their games on ten fifty and paulie MAC. And I did top six sports stories at the fifty and fifty of every hour, the warriors would barely make the top six times. I wouldn't make it at all seriously. Yeah. We would have like we just showed him out. Yeah. Warriors loss. Here's your top six not included. But the warriors used to bring their draft picks to us after and we would honestly be like with Raymond. We'd be like Raymond's. Okay. I'm bringing Patrick O'Brien in studio story. Do you have to? Right in here with us. Sitting down. We'd be like, hey, what's up then? I don't really know what to say he the guy who sought the grocery store. Yes. Okay. Break that down. Very good memory..
