"All right it is seven forty eight Pat Brady is standing by and Pat's got a fine legal mind in a somewhat shaky other mind good morning how are you Mister Tucker how are you nice talk here on impeachment day this the thing you dreaded this thing you said none of us should want to have happen on a but he wanted it to happen but we're here so give me the lay of the land what we gonna see you there what we got here I'd say you're gonna hear from two key witnesses and her from William Taylor who is the top diplomat Ukraine you're gonna hear George can't close the person from the state department that was responsible for United States policy with Ukraine and they are expected to testify about the quid pro quo or that other private extortion or you want to call it that president yeah I used to get investigation as president that they can do is political so the Clinton impeachment was a little bit different because there was a special prosecutor is that we can start titles yeah I have been in fact in both cases there was a special prosecutor Nixon and and Clinton and and that but it is basically took the Ken Starr report not quite in case in the Judiciary Committee adopted that and there were very few public hearings although there were a lot of public hearings in the Nixon case in this case this investigation has been conducted by the intelligence committee that's gonna have what it says here they're gonna vote this out of committee and it goes over that to the Judiciary Committee which is the committee that will make the ultimate for outside the general body to vote on articles of impeachment so you go back to the time frame of the Clinton thing it was mostly in nineteen ninety eight but the grand jury did the legwork Hey Greg if I'm wrong that we're seeing the Democrats do now in the inquiry the inquiry now is the grand jury then exactly and they they and even in the Nixon case or the Clinton case a lot of the hearings were done and in secret and telling the public hearings if there weren't that many public hearings and the Clinton matter fact most of the hearings were about the Republicans that were on the committee that have their own Intelius indiscretions so I had to recuse himself from the proceedings it was kind of a kind of a mass and the week before Christmas in ninety eight going into I guess the break and then January seventh these are the notes I'm looking at now of ninety nine the control start it was over in a day or two and the house voted to impeach and the Democrats control the Senate voted to acquit or whatever the appropriate word would be to not thrown out of office yeah that's exactly what happened and that's what people anticipate happening here that there's going to be twenty Republicans in the Senate that the break against the president and and and vote for impeachment that's right today and I have and I think they're Democrats and gotten better at it but still either the country's roughly split fifty fifty on whether he should be impeached and removed but the story of what happened here the in the importance of Ukraine to our national security to their national security Russia all these other bigger broader factors that point to why it was so bad that what the president did meaning only not for Nate to a an ally for political back to why that's so important a really haven't told that story there's been a lot of talk about how this and the Russia slash Mahler story of the same story agree that I disagree one one place to the other in other words well they did the common denominator is is is Russia and America when you and I grew up and it's still the case request for bad actors let rip couldn't is a former director Keiji beans a murderer and for some reason this president wants to curry favor with the Russians and that's the common thread there another common thread is of the president and in both cases when he was a candidate now as president doesn't get that you can't allow for interference in our election it violates the law and as president the United States the issue is going to be what he abused his authority and asking a foreigner led government to get involved in our lectures so Pat a you're saying that they have not done a very good job of telling the story of what happened here is this an opportunity for them to be able to actually tell the story and perhaps maybe get him moral verdict from this yeah I think it's a great opportunity and I know they have career prosecutors some really talented people that are going to help put this case on today but to me it's a political decision we're gonna make here in the country not yet persuaded that the president needs to be impeached and removed I think they have an opportunity to lay the latest Saudis it's almost and I know the Republicans are screaming that it that it's the what is the and and it's politics you're trying to convince people that what the president did the Democrats are what president did requires that he be removed from office make just haven't done it yet this is a political piece of this I keep going back to the Clinton because its most recent comparison you can make there's a political piece of this is which is vastly different I've said forever I've never seen more cowards in Washington than we've seen in the last several years and now we're going into the major election year the entire houses up thank there's nineteen or more Senate seats that are up probably is more than that I think about it and obviously the presidency of the Clinton thing was wrapped up in ninety nine a year before an election year so that's a big deal difference in regards to how these people are going to act yes or no get used it states a game changer plus a couple things if this actually goes forward goes to the Senate six senators are running for president as Democrats can't be on the campaign trail that help show by but the other thing is that this just as a Republican a long term problem I see is that if we don't make this evidence comes in like we've seen so far it's pretty clear what the president dead all the Republicans in lockstep don't step up and say Hey it's country first it's democracy first it's it's United States first not Russia first I think that as a rule really bad long term implications for the Republican Party party in the conservative movement were supposed to be lawn order we're supposed to be strong on national defense we're supposed to stick with our allies and and I think he really bad for the Republicans if they don't handle this correctly for a prosecutor in the modern age we were talking earlier about the differences between during their trials with Nixon and even with that Clinton they didn't have to account for so many cable channels and they also didn't have to account for social media so as a modern day prosecutor what do you think that they're gonna have to think about that maybe wasn't thought about in the past yeah it's a huge difference there was only three networks and then the probably the biggest thing at the differences in in the next in case this thing percolated for a long time before they actually had a hearing so the nation was fixated on it but I can answer questions you what I think both sides have to do is come up with better messages the Democrats finally quit playing quake pro quo which is the Latin term which brigade went to Catholic school that usually what I heard right where I get hit with a ruler and he's right you know okay Dorsen thank you note or that even in a culture media world those words trickle out there they're just they're simple messages and for the Republicans are going to have to get a better message other than the process argument are gonna have to show why the president was acting without corrupt intent in doing that they think they've got an uphill climb but I think they can do what you have to stay keep it simple and family thing message and that's the problem with the president he has his own Twitter creating a kind of gets everybody up math you and I were just kids when Nixon went away but obviously were old enough to remember and appreciate that it was a big deal we sort of romanticised to some extent the version of what happened where three brave Republicans led by Barry Goldwater walking to Nixon's office and said you gotta go it's over you've lost the Senate and the next day he resigns is that true does that hold up because there are no more Goldwater lead types is with far as I'm concerned as long as McCain is gone yeah and it could bring in a lot of differences between then and today but you hit the nail on the head that or an election we have an election coming up in in in less than a year a lot of folks are concerned about that I I think for this could tip the scales to the point where we get somebody like him McCain that did what Goldwater deck we're gonna have to really show the damage that this did to United States national security or country rock and I don't think we've seen that yet I don't think they called to tell yet and it allows the Republicans now to say well you know no harm no foul bag bad conduct but nobody got hurt so we'll see I have thirty seconds here any chance the Democrats don't vote to impeach that a few may stretch they loaded locked up the the put the rule together that they'll they'll both this out he will the articles of impeachment much something crazy happens here yeah one of the four simple majority in the house two thirds supermajority in the Senate to remove which question is ever happened given the education Pat we appreciate it I guess that's Pat Brady and we're coming back in northwestern medicine is your next will.

Well, why did you do this? And when he was explaining why he did it. It didn't make a whole lot of sense. At least it it just sounded like well, I fell into this. And I was going to grab it because who wouldn't it's like, okay. But now make a good movie. Would you please? Write you fell into it do something with it. Anyway, I you know, boy. So it's a no no for me. It's a no for me. But you know for lady Gaga fans and Cooper. That's the other thing, you know, watching Cooper on stage. He really seems like a really cool guy really nice guy, very genuine. But I just think he was over his head with this movie. He made a comment about not being sort of offered it years ago, but he didn't feel like he was old enough or had enough experience to really tell the story. Probably I think that's kind of how it plays. Now. It's. And he said he had never really seen the other versions. So he said he deliberately didn't want to because he didn't want to be affected by them. But it's you know, what if you're going to tell another the same story of fifth time, I think you should do your homework and see what what you could bring to it. Okay. Don't you?
