"Or veterinary products mine. Maybe the maybe the fda does. I think that that was that was one of the main crimes was that these were these were non. Fda regulated meds if they were they were synthesizing allegedly in selling not alleged again in this case. But yeah. i love that that you wanted you. Want to keep his reputation intact. There's one thing i know about scotman jeannie and i don't know anything it's that he's a straight shooter. He's a he's a guy with integrity. Yeah i don't know i don't. I don't think that that reputation if he had that is going to go to survive these eighteen months in whatever he gets out. But now we're getting his little trickles Drips of a news. "I was like now now. There are too many people too many people in positions of power in too many Now frankly very rich people in racing who still had bob efforts that now you might say was a career. Defining thing was medina spirit. He's never going to live that down. But in terms of career ending obama's can continue to train horses and be at the top levels of the game made nine the derby. And maybe that that loan carrot enough to take horses into put into other barnes whose other people can win the give him a chance but you know he's overall. I think still be a very prominent figure in racing for years and years to come. I think that's that's been clear from the results of the two year olds this year from the results so far keelan september with seven figure yearlings still filling up his bar. We'll see what happens with naira and it is a little bit of mass but you know baffled still has a lot of friends in high places in racing and that's going to i that is going to win out in the long run will say y'all i mean. I think he's going to take a major setback. The bob baffert of twenty twenty one. Accuse me of twenty twenty. Two twenty twenty three is not going to be devolved after the prior fifteen years or whatnot but the other thing to keep in mind is that at the very worst case. Scenario churchill's has only suspended for two years. So if he can't run twenty two and twenty three derby and maybe also with byron thank. Can't run in the twenty two twenty three belmont either or the twenty. Two twenty three travers. I think he'll have a good stable. I think we'll have horses that win. Lot morton races around the country. I don't think it will be as quite a Tilted towards the the colts has been in the past. But as soon as he's back in clear people still want to win the kentucky derby more than anything else in this sport and who is the guy no matter what has happened to forget about. Matheson remedy spirited cetera. Who was the guy who is most likely to get your horse. The winter circle the kentucky derby only off after a yet when this is all set in this not a lifetime ban where he navarro. Jason service will never a racehorse restaurants. I go. I would bet all the money i have in the world on that bob baffert continued to train. And i think is fair will have a major setback readjusted very but i think you should definitely not and also the thing about him being most likely to train kentucky derby winner. I think that that is a self-perpetuating faye where he gets the best horse because people think he's more likely to win the derby than anybody else. Statistically he is but i think a lot of it has to do with the stock that he has in an environment that you know it just becomes a self-perpetuating thing where you just as more and more and more and more high price horses as more and more chances. And that is more and more likely to win the derby which reinforces the perception. That all bob efforts got the magic touch to win the kentucky. Derby when i think if you give you know at least half of the top level traders in this country does same horses. They can probably do the same thing. But we're gonna find out we'll be right back after this message from keeneland. The world's yearling sale make plans for the keyed. September yearling sale september thirteen th through the twenty four th visit the world yearling sale dot com to learn more swine to mention this. Greg resigned olive because there was there was another sense that came down in the fbi indictments scotman. Genie is a guy who was was selling alleged. Pd's and and got sentenced to eighteen months that seems to be the standard sense for lives. Lower level actors in eighteen months to other people have gotten So it's waiting. Sue with the sentences are for oriental. Varo and you know maybe eventually jason service if he's found guilty but cd's aren't wrote about this week in review he's going through these court documents Finding is the most interesting tidbits but the it was actually a little little dark comedy. Thought in some of the stuff that was happening has scott genie sentences where he's still arguing even as he's accepting his ends in and pleading pleading guilty. He still arguing that he wasn't technically selling. Pd's he wasn't selling more placebos or you know nutrient pills or disease vivey kind of healthy things that a lot of people take while people take these supplements thinking that it'll it'll make them have a six pack or you know. Jane muscle ernie this stuff. That's kind of hit was his argument. That you go into gnc and all these things all these bottles of pills have these wild claims. You can't reasonably expect them to make you into an olympic bodybuilder overnights but the government came back at him and was basically like well. Have you looked at the names of some of the stuff that you are selling on your website. Now read a couple of for you Blood building explosion. Explosion world factor five thousand horsepower. Ecuadorian growth hormone numbet purple pain injection plugging leader injection blastoff breather injection one product was called a light white. Lightning was described as something that would increase stamina on performance in races greyhounds camels so the camel racing fans out there. I think he's got to clean up your sport as well erasing. That's clean itself up but in many of the products were stamped as will not test so kind of a kind of a hard argument to make when you're on your marketing things like that that this was not intended for pd sales so it was it was it was another one of these are the story. That was funny. But it's not funny. And it really underscored for me at least what we talked about last week where when he's indictments came down. You thought this was kind of like a criminal genius masterminded plots and then the more and more you hear about it. You think this was a real to bit operation. And it's very unfortunate that a to aberration like this was able to gain the racing industry for years and years and years. The bus it was it. Was you know darkly funny to read those marketing materials for these drives belly. Yeah one other additional thoughts. First of all you're right. The whole thing was just so patently ridiculous. You know it's like you know you don't know whether laugh or cry but wanting it appeared to me and not who did a very good job as always. The story was that the lawyer wanted benji to walk off the prison with his reputation as intact as possible and think this so the varo service after licensed to train the vets. That have been indicted. I'm sure they have to have some sort of licenses while the mangini was a guy who had these websites you know buying my stuff in your horses. Run faster dot com it. Sarah i know if that is is a by any who who in charge of that. I wonder if this guy is already thinking. Maybe this is a wild off of the east service. Eighteen years to eighteen years. I wish was eight years eighteen months and then the day he gets out of prison is gonna go back to selma stuff online. Maybe he's not super not to sell the legal stuff anymore but to sell. These will cbo's these things that are a little bit more innocuous so Is this your mouth. I'm not so sure you could keep this out of out of doing what he does. I mean who who would be able to step up and say scott jeannie you can never again sell.

"After this message from ladies people stuck being a small family business. I guess we're part of a dying breed really grateful for the people that entrust us. We know it's a huge responsibility. Always with your horse every step of the way when it comes to being at the sales ground showing horses. We are with your horse. Described down the road every day. There's not a time that. I don't look out bill responsibility to the sport. The animal the people that come to best in the game. I wanna see as many people enjoy the sport of the again because we do have the most beautiful sport in the world not a huge weekend of racing coming up we have the wit behind mile and the canadian international are this weekend. It would buy a shoutout to them. We also the jockey club. Derby and the jacob folks This saturday belmont why We also have the first to turn races for two year olds with your koi steaks. On saturday at churchill downs milena sixteenth race for two urologists that segues into the announcement that the That suspended trainers will not accrue points with horses on the road to the kentucky. Derby was announced last week. Which again starts this week. With the the yuriko stakes at churchill downs. Now this is obviously has has major implications for baffert. You know he still has that. Suspension from churchill. Downs at came down right after the medina spirit. Positive broke i. It's it's gonna be litigated adjudicated in. He'll challenge and all that stuff. Yeah a little bit of a break. From the by baffert lawyer works by this kind of brings it back to the forefront. Because i wonder i wonder in this sense that you haven't seen the accident this forces from bob Barnes beyond that first those first couple of weeks in spendthrifts and a couple of time letcher but overall overall. I haven't seen you know. Two year olds leaving the bob baffert barnum droves and go into other trainers. Maybe there have been some but it seems like he's still pretty loaded with two year olds he just one is fifteen door futurity a couple weeks ago with harrison. Got a bunch of other. Pretty good looking to your are wondering what is means in terms of you know. His his appeal to the kentucky worth raising commission Down so maybe try to get this special return. Because i would think if. I had a top to year all in bob effort barn and i saw this news that suspended trainers are not gonna be able to have their horses accrue points on the way to the derby i would be trying to get my horse to hell outta there. I wonder if this means that they may be have some owners. Have some kind of little inkling about this the way this thing is going to be role in the future. Because i really i would. I would expect after this announcement people to react in that way but it doesn't seem like that's happening so far ability you have any thoughts. Yeah i apply jot. I think it will happen First of all battered and his legal team have never challenged the kentucky churchill downs ruling they challenge naira and they want around in court but remember naira is different than churchill because it's privately owned versus. Maybe not so privately owned or whatever you wanna talk to tonight about so if this holds up and then there's gotta be an exodus because as things stand right now if you have a horse that's coming into the new year in suppose you have a you wanna point him from the san felipe bay or something like that or you know one of the early races. The san Robert louis if he's not gonna get any dirty points or winning those races. Then you've got two choices here could be incredibly loyal to baffler or you can turn the horse over to someone else and you know both of his arza at have you mentioned have so far. Been very loyal to him. We've only seen a handful. Take their horses away. What so they haven't really there hasn't been much to lose by keeping your horses with batter because there's no racist right now obvious. He's running at a church announced he was able to run at saratoga. But i think when it comes into next year. This is a game changer. And you know these people go to the sales and spend a million dollars on a yearly. Don't buy a yearling to win. The dwyer for baffert or or you know some race at or even the preakness abroad in a by the forest win the kentucky derby that it's their their goal there and if they can't even get a horse to take part in the kentucky derby i can't imagine they're going to say. Hey bob a rough deal we're gonna but we're gonna stick by you and jesus we can't wait. Wins the free so the only reason why. I think it hasn't happened yet. Because there's no reason to no one is born. Euro coin rayton the point in the readers. Cup juvenile are really not a major factor. You're looking at those points in those races. As beer all specially races irby sandinista and whatnot. So maybe there is going to be something. That's gonna come down the pike or baffert gonna be able to get going to where these horses able to run the upbeat or i don't see a comedy and i think that we are going to see. Major exits are yeah. You're right they stole out of time. But you know the suspension game down months ago and we really haven't seen that. I kind of handful spent or forces. We haven't seen a ton of horses leave his foreign. And you know it's just it's kind of seeing the keeneland september results in hearing about these. Nothing ours is still going to africa. Barn it's kind of i dunno. It just seems like people are gonna try to ignore this stuff as long as they possibly can until comes to real derby season. You really have a decision to make with these horses but yeah like you said. I've i've always even been pretty surprised. By how many owners have stuck by him throughout throughout at least the first four or five months of this process in you know like i said like you said bill maybe there there are challenges coming. It is interesting that he has not legally challenge the the kentucky commission churchill suspension. Because he has and he and his wife have challenged the naira suspensions and there was some news about that this week as well where the naira officially scheduled hearings and issue charges. Not just for baffert. Also for marcus. Fatality will be remember was able to run a race run horse at saratoga and kind of left everybody with egg on their face. I didn't win but just the fact that he was even out. Orson the entries. I thought look bad for everybody involved. So i think that nyerere's trying to get out ahead of that next situation and i'm gonna read the quote here From from nyerere's press. Release says nyerere contends that mr bamford and mr tally of engaged in contact. That kind of that is detrimental to the best interest of the thoroughbred racing or potentially injurious to health and safety of horses and riders further as detail in their respective statements charges kinda or its revocation or suspension of their rights. Train orces enter races. Or engage all racing related activity properties including akwa belmont in saratoga craig robertson fired back and said that the injunction that we talked about the injunction that that came down last month which allowed baffert to run Eventually agreed one at saratoga with me that injunction prevents naira from doing any of this stuff until that original suit has concluded now again. I am not a lawyer but it seems like that. That should be very clear whether or not naira has the legal authority to do these things while this other sue is potentially still pending so not where this is going to end up but it just. It seems like a bit of a mess. right now. Provocative effort in terms of where he can run where he can't run. But you know if you go by the chemo. In september results. You know if he's still going to be loaded with horses by this time next year you know people asked people people weren't that interesting asked me at the time when bob after With medina spirit and baffert. I came down. They said no somebody asked me on. Tv they were using this as a career ending thing for.

"We talked about before street cents and city of light on some of their three seventeen. Thirty eight is a flatter phillies. Full sister to to other type flannel phillies and the two year old. Dr jeff broke his main. I doubt saratoga. A couple of weeks ago was favored. The saratova's special hitch seventeen. Eighty four is a justify. Cole of the great three winning multiple greatest states placed as my thing The two year old king carlin was second eleven at kentucky downs in his first. Start this past weekend from that family. In eighteen sixty six is a volt doro coal out of a half sister talk. Move to me where i remember. It was very impressive. Rising stars by violence respond medallion door so similar family there so we know the cross works there and for photos walking videos cadillac pages in x ray reports. You can go to. Why would furred dot com. So we got the the reporter. Mayors brad from the jockey club last week on. This is in the fall. Numbers projected grab subjective volk routes for twenty twenty two mirrors brad this year as eighteen thousand seven hundred which is another decline the client of five hundred Than the twenty twenty one full crabgrass. Two point six percents. This is the six straight year of decline in the lowest figure since nineteen sixty five on the whole crop was eighteen thousand eight hundred forty six high water mark which seems like jillian years ago in nineteen eighty. Six was fifty one thousand two hundred ninety six. Obviously were never ever going to approach those numbers again but this is obviously a concerning trend for the industry. I think the two the two trends to file. Oh if you want to know about the health of racing small crop and handle handle at least. I think has steadied a bit. You know it was going down for a long time and now it's at le- steadied at around ten billion dollars giver tate's You would obviously like to see that. Grow lisa's not declining. The way it was in the in the past twenty years with all crap continues to go down. This is something that is obviously going to trickle down to the rest of racing smaller field sizes which leads the smaller hand. All you're going to have fewer and fewer owners and end. I think that's hurt. Hurt the structure. Eventually you know. There's some quotes in the story from elliott walden about how the structure will will in the hundred thousand dollar made special ways that are all over. The place will get this trend to go in the other direction. I don't know about all that this seems kind of like a universal thing and it's just going go down and it's just a matter of how much But i wonder if bill hasn't thoughts. Yeah joe lhota thoughts on this. I mean eighteen thousand seven hundred. You're looking at the lowest woke up since nineteen sixty and i say the same thing this year that said any of the ten prior years on paper makes no sense. I mean we just talked about horses. Running for a hundred and thirty. Five thousand dollars maiden races and allowance races at kentucky downs. Her sis- have never been bigger. And if you take purses now versus twenty years ago i mean. They've gone up. they've just exploded. Thanks largely due to game which is where all the downs. Come from so simple economics here. Don't make any sense when the amount of money that is available to horses goes up. You should have more horses instead you get less and less all the time and you know it's interesting elliott walden said but you know maybe these higher purses will start to crack more owners which attract more demand for reading it. That would be the case. Why why hasn't that happened in prior years when purses keep going up right now. I don't have the answer to this. I don't know what's going on the only thing i can think of is. It's i'm sure it's not the top geyser getting squeezed out the top readers. It would seem to be in. It's like talk all about the middle market whether it's the yearling sales whatnot and a twenty five hundred dollars in maryland or something probably really is hard to make go or something like that so i think that's where it's coming from the one. The other thing too is the way racing has justice. I'm not sure it can't. We need less racing. Because if you don't duck less racing those six horsfield become five horsfield's and then all of a sudden the handle keeps going down in versus might go down if the handle goes down and that's one of the problems. This has to racing and one of the reasons why you know it's again the damned if you do damned if you felt of the slot machines reason why there's too much racine is there's twenty racetracks out there. That would be closed if they weren't excuses for having slot or now so let's let's hope though that it levels off at this number. This is sustainable. But get down to fourteen thousand in in seven eight years from now. Something like that is really really scary. Yeah it's That's that is the the elephant in the room is that there's too much racing or vulgar Yeah there's twenty race tracks to But to your point that you know these it was. It was a great story that soon wrote about a lot of great quotes in there. The only thing is i think most of the courts people like bill says who are at the top end of the game. Who aren't really gonna feel the swedes when it comes to declining full craps. They're they're they're mostly guys who you know. Their their salaries are all booked. And you know. They breed andrea mayor as a matter. What every single year. It's the smaller navies our state readers. That are gonna feel the effects of this with with really no business. There was an interesting quote in the story as well From chauncey morris about the lack of export and how other countries i think especially in the far east have become more reliant on their own reading programs res- opposed to american bright orces that they would have been exporting ten twenty years ago so i think that's that's an interesting point as well. This is no longer. I don't think the breeding capital of the world. I think every country that is as as a sustainable racing product has their own breeding product for a program that they can rely on But yeah you know it. Just it eventually gonna trickle down and we already have a problem with fields is this is. This is a blinking red alarm signal. The field sizes are barely over seven. Horses parades in some in some cases the monthly figures there below seven parade which is completely unsustainable and this is not loans to help that You know i just. I wonder if racing really ever addresses these problems in a systemic way. And you know not having that centralised body to do so is a real handicap. And i don't i don't. I'm not an expert on how to rejuvenate full crap like that's that's now my departments way above my pay grade but just i see some of the quotes. That are just kind of you know. Wow this is no big deal. You can't read too much into this. It's not necessarily about this. Year is false Five hundred horses. It's about the trend and the decline handle was going down by this much every year. You would obviously be very very concerned about it. But it's it's it's something that i guess. I know easy fix but it's definitely something to monitor and it's something that's going. It's kind of like a lagging indicator. You know kind of like the. It's we call it. We had cases than hospitalization than the lagging indicator. I think this is one of those things. Where couple years from now when these ordinaries folder on the track. You know you're going to have five feels five and a half six fields as an average and be like well. Why the hell is this happening. Well not enough holes too much racing too many racetracks and i think the the thing is a little bit illusory that now for now and we have the dealings subsidies and we have these teeth. Meet sicker really up or assist overall like that's not going to be the trend to full crop. It's used to go down tedium Brought to you by legacy blood. Stop using that. Fifty years combined experience in the worst business could benefit your program. Give time you're wendy a call. They personally advised on each horse as if they were their own. Legacy certainly gonna be be busy over the next week with a huge roster dealings going through the september sale have ten going through the rain today is about to begin including mendelssohn culture out of a stakes winner and city of call a grade to producers. Best of luck to tommy. Wendy on those horses. We'll be back with another seven-year lanes on saturday. The books three opener two more members of the first crop of mendelson who expects the sell very well less colts by by empire maker. More than ready at arrogate you can check out their group going to book three at barn nine keeneland. If you're on the grounds we'll be right back.

"And i think what we can do about. It is to make racing better to make racing better. And i think his says a huge step forward in that direction. The horse racing integrity and safety act is a complete game changer. We have to look public confidence in our sport at armament. No many any professional sports. That don't have some central governing. Authorities people are playing by the same rules. We've gotta have and once that's in place and as it's getting put in place where constantly thinking of ideas to bring new owners and fans to the sport i've said to a couple people for twenty years. You hear and you go to these meetings. And they say were dying or die. I'm so ready to change that dialogue. We don't wanna be dying anymore. We wanna be thriving and we're working on innovative new ways to try to make that happen. I totally agree with you. Shannon and just kind of changing the perception of it as well but just to go back to some of the things i was he no tony a couple of days ago about the new incentive for the twenty twenty one september grads and the cooperation with kentucky downs. And that there's going to be two new races next year for the two year old. Grads a what. What are some other things that might be in the pipeline. Not only for the september sale but also for the upcoming race meet We're really excited about our partnership are venture with kentucky downs. We've been working with them on. Some other project is what projects as well. And it's great to have people in the sword owning tracks who love racing. And ron winchell is definitely one of those folks that loves racing Gatewood has done a lot of work on our race scheduled to be sure that we've got races program and scheduled in a right in the right way where it's going to be attractive most attractive to gamblers. We've seen that driver handle. And i think we'll continue to see that we've got to news stakes races that we created this fall Bovine mill and the myrtle would so. That's exciting as well and we're just really trying to think. Now he's rearranged the fall. sometimes. I think we've all felt light fall. Stars weekend aquinas fabulous amend by the time you get to the last week and you're the ink. Oh i wish it were all stars leak again. So he saved some of that juice for the end so it's evenly distributed in works well for horsemen again. That's another benefit of having horsemen here. Bene- bloodstock agent been an assistant trainer and been a jockey's agent and really understands the nuances of that. You brought up the the fall meet because it's coming up. It's right around. The corner is beginning of october. It was announced a couple months ago. That you guys would be at full capacity in terms of fans coming back and filling the stance. I know. that's a big deal for you guys at saratoga. We talked about how big of a difference was to have fans bax. Can you just talk a little bit about how much that's going to mean to see the place full again. We have missed our band so much. Just not the same. I've had a couple of people especially breeders cup last year. That said this is so great. Can we do this every year with this tiny fan base. A no absolutely not. This is horrible. We need our bands back so we're really excited to welcome back. We're still working through. What are kobe. Protocols will be from the beginning of this really difficult eighteen months we have always put verse. Foremost our biggest priority is to make sure that our employees and our patrons are safe So we're trying to work through what makes the most sense what others ordering venues that are similarly situated or doing but still predict we will be full capacity. We are for that as we've all talked about over and over we are working in the morning and it's just natural resources to be racing in the afternoon and we're largely outside Which helps a great deal. Also so we are doing all in our power to be sure that we are full capacity and have our fans fully welcome back to our definitely news in washington on tv. It's not the same without to fans Hasn't been good about adjusting and being proactive. I think you guys have been kind of the first to to institute policies and protocols among all of the tracks You guys for that gets makes things around and ryan july last year but it was still a great So so. I appreciate that just as a fan. Shannon tradition is obviously huge art of inland and a huge part of success. But sometimes whether it's a baseball team football team or business or a racetrack. You can't rely just on tradition. Have to keep up with the times. And i think more so than Some of your predecessors you and the team that you brought in has really change things up a little bit whether it's sales or with the racing and to change things up for the better and to stay with the times since you're you're talking about your family goes back to the nineteen birdies. You might think that you would be the last person to want a tradition. So where does that come from. Where does that spirit come from. Why and i think it goes back to wanting the sport in this institution of key monday. Be the very best at can be and to do that. We can't keep doing the things that we've always done. We have a lot of tradition. And it's one of our series has strengths. And i value tradition. If you ask my friends and colleagues they would probably say. I'm a traditionalist but not all of our traditions are good. We've just gotta take the best of our traditions and really think about ways to make ourselves better. And i think that goes back to our team. We have a really open dialogue between our team. And i think we've developed this culture where nothing's nothing's out of bounds to suggest unafraid to talk about anything and we're all very comfortable with each other. We trust each other. And that's lead. I think to a lot of good ideas. And i think there's there are a lot more to come than i think you'll see survivor for that site for the rest of the sale in the fall. May we really appreciate you. Making some time shannon. Thank you so much for coming on. Thank you on. Thank you shannon. "Really excited to get started on monday afternoon. Just your general reactions to the first two days. We're talking gabby about it before about how it seems like the energy is through the roof there. Almost everybody's back. What have been your general Today's definitely That we keep saying is electric. We've worked really hard to try to create the right environment that book one of september deserve. So we've got a lot of flowers people teasing me about a woman's touch but i really do think flowers elevate room we got flowers. We've had cocktails. Being passed around in the morning. Brunch being passed around the barns are full of people domestic buyers international buyers and actually when the sales started on monday. I looked in the sales pavilion. Ns said no. I don't think this is just a different difference. Because of cova there were a lot of people sitting in that pavilion and really excited to be here. The electricity is palpable and we really do have that hustle and bustle back. Which is what we wanted. A public auction jamming. Thanks for joining us. The numbers are in and it's a little hard to compare twenty twenty one to twenty twenty because of covert obviously nonetheless. Numbers are good. But let's take a broader view. And they look at the two thousand twenty one book numbers versus two thousand nine thousand nine hundred thousand eighteen thousand seventeen and overall what is going on and i think the bottom line is good news and what does that say for the industry we have. We had eleven. Horses sell for seven figures and cumulatively invoke one and looking at the medium numbers comparing them to twenty nine eighteen twenty eighteen which were really strong years. Whereabout there The median from session to book one was about four hundred thousand. And that's about as high as it's been in recent memory cumulatively it's about three fifty five which is really strong so we are seeing lots of fireworks is just consistent is just from from the first step through the ring through the end. The the battle is on there. A lot of people know that got out that were frustrated who are going to be heavy shopping for book to and beyond so overall we're really excited about what it shows about market and the strength of the market and the solidity. I mean we. We feel good about where we're headed jannine. There have been some changes to the book. One obviously book two of the sale this year a dark day for stay is on friday but i just wanted because of this new team. That's in place with tony and cormack as well. What has that process been like. What were those conversations like with both the buyers and the sellers. How did you guys all land on this new format and just all the changes that have been incorporated in the sale. I would say. I a lesson of love and i think tony gray hair when he came but it may be a little bit grayer now after that process because entries were really already in and then it was a matter of putting the jigsaw puzzle together in our many sales companies any sales companies that try to sell four thousand horse. Doesn't put that together with the stabling trying to make people happy with their placement so we really believe in the importance of week one and we wanted to get enough forces in front of the buyers before the break for on the dark day to make buyers feel like it was worth their time to be here but at the same time not make it too hard on sellers and consigners three different places in the barn. So there's been a lot of give and take we have worked really closely communicating with consigners. And that's been really key and helpful If the end of the day that's what we've gotta do. We all work together to put on the best show. We can the best offering for our buyers. Everybody has a different view of what. The format should be for september. Everybody i mean very few consistencies but the one consistency we heard over and over with all the people we talked to was that they want consistency year to year in the format. And you know we. We actually initially thought we could have three one boy. We didn't have enough sellers to support a three day one. So that's when we moved and one point there it was a it was a one day one and a two day book too and we said no. That's not enough for the break. So i really like this format. We do plan to work to stick with this format and let me count on. It depend on it year to year. And i think battle really help build confidence in what we've got september. I wanted to ask a little bit about your background. Because you're a lexington Keeneland is really in your blood. You have a family history of keelan so have take us through growing up in lexington and going at keeneland through some of your early memories of keeneland not just not just the sale a racing culture of keeneland and maybe how that sets you on this path to end up being the presidency. Oh the cover. It's funny since. I've been the spot. A lot of people say well. Of course you're going to be president of keeneland. Nobody ever knows you're going to be president. Kim lead. I mean there's so many people that revere this institution and what it means to racing what it means to the rent industry what it means star community and definitely one of those. My grandfather was the first general manager and he was year for nine nineteen thirty six. Select seventy one. I was born in seventy four. So i have memories of talking to my grandfather about keen run but was at oaklawn by the time that i was born in was around mmg grew up on these grounds. Was lawyer too keen. Lenin was one of our three trustees when he passed away in two thousand eight so we definitely do have that reverence for how important places myrlie memories are working here. I answer the switchboard. And i worked in sales office And they had dough daddy doughnuts every saturday and graham crackers unit butter in the break room. That until cova pretty sure were still there. I hope they weren't the same crackers. But i wonder But it's just it's a special place. And i think working with keeneland counselor for nearly twenty years also gave me real appreciation for what we need to be and what we owed to the industry. We're we're a company that was formed by worst enforcement and in order to fulfill our mission to be a model race track and promote the best in thoroughbred racing in an industry world-leading sales company. We have to have horsemen on our team. That understand what our customers are going through. So i think that's helped me really Have have strong ideas about who we need to have here. I think everybody here is so on the same page in terms of were here for the right reasons. We all feel like were part of something bigger than ourselves. That's what really drives us every day. So to keep better than we found it shannon during the week the numbers for the foal crop came out and they weren't good is is we know. Eighteen thousand seven hundred. The lowest rejects the lowest since nineteen sixty five on a two part question. How does this impact keeneland or any sales company. And i know there's no easy answer to this but clearly this is something that's gotta be of great concern to all assets facets of the industry will be done to reverse this trend. We think about a lot. We talk about it a lot. We've looked at the data over the past thirty years as we've seen the whole crop decline. It's interesting it's just in the past two years that we've seen are entries of sales start to be lower which would think it would follow the same trend but it really hasn't but we're starting to see that that that the full may be impacting our sales numbers. And you have to think logically that ultimately it will.

"See some of those new faces. Well i think this is just my opinion by we talk last week about how many great performances in were saratoga really was explosive summer. In terms of two year olds three roles sprinters classic horses. I felt like there were a ton of really exciting performances Keeneland september is always is always a beneficiary of being right after saratoga is excited about all they've seen on those stages run those huge raises just even more pronounced this year. Because sarah tokyo was great. Meet with so many explosive formulas. And now that everybody's able to be back at keeneland. Yeah i mean. I imagine the buzz the buzzes through and hispanic citing the first couple of days To start today today tomorrow in the dark day is friday. Sale runs through through next friday. As we're gonna talk to shannon hartman in a little bit that all the act the tvn writer's room is brought to you by spendthrift farms. Brentford successful book. One at keeneland yesterday landed three fifty six an intimate your philly grain winner embellish delays. I remember her. Winning the alabama for the league lost for one point two five million dollars and also intimacy if yesterday became the first stellian desires. Three yearlings bring over a million dollars in sales rank in twenty twenty one. We've already done on at length about intimacy his unrivalled in the sales space. An on the racetrack We also had a cold. I mentioned before gopher one point. Three five million dollars to winchell thoroughbreds on monday. And they'll be a good number of dealings by the popular. Scraps are bull durham. We've talked about as well. And how well received his urine have been even this early in the process There's a bunch of young's by him in books two in three coming up so we can look forward to talking about his results in keeneland sales ring next week. Owning potential future superstars like lightly is attainable with a racing partnership with west point thoroughbreds partnerships enable. You spread your ownership across several horses or than it cost on one horse alone. This increase your racetrack action. Your chances for a big horse learn more about why west point the reds the gold standard in racing partnerships at west point tv dot com so obviously west point was very busy During one of got in on several high class yawns including current sale topper stonestreet bread quality road half brother to midnight bourbon terry. Finley said following the sale that the colt was purchased in partnership woodford racing for one point. Six million dollars in that at stonestreet also stayed in for a piece of horse nights and you see the breeder stay shows a lot of confidence. Obviously the horse is going to go to shook mcgahey trains. I captain h three zero for west point and they also i just the medallion door Cult for five hundred seventy five thousand dollars in partnered up on a quality road colt for five hundred ten thousand dollars and a three hundred ten thousand dollars album moon phillies lots of action for west point across the board. No they got they got good is for talent over there. Obviously they're they're they're making more and more splashes at all. These sales like is currently have the sale topper. I'm sure earn get involved much more as well but coming up so it was not a huge weekend racing wise here. There was a lot of action overseas. That we're going to get through in a little bit. But i thought the big story of the was was kentucky. Downs of spy graded stakes. One saturday. i think kentucky downs really shows actually you guys have seen a feeling and the famous line. If you build it. They will come. And that's kind of how i feel about kentucky downs that if you give people big fields and low takeout and you put lots of money into the better and the owners will reward you. Obviously it's easier to do with a small six or seven day. Meets not as easy to do. If you're running an entire season. But in general i think they do they do things the right way. And they're they've been rewarded for other handle. Numbers came out from this meet. Seventy four over seventy four million dollars in handle which is for six days of the gigantic gigantic number. Smashed their all records which was fifty nine. Point eight million dollars. So i think you know and saturday. Which was the feature day the meet the eleven race caillat turf cup card. They handle over twenty million dollars which smashed again the former mark of seventeen point. Four million dollars net run run run on a couple of weeks To talk about it and just talked about the growth of the down meeting how much more popular it's become but it takes vision. It takes vision to invest resources into that me being such a short me and to make it a marketplace for better and for owners and i think that that's that's really what they've done with all the money they've given away. We talked about this with john. The o'brien's are starting a little bit. More running horses at kentucky downs. Batters have always received it. Well i think especially now with the higher quality of feels no pretty much. Every raised is allowance a maiden special or state. They're very few claiming races left. I think it's it's really become a place for people to. I don't know get there get their leftover buzz from saratoga satisfied because it is absolutely terrific racing and they deserve all the successes coming to them like i said. Can we get a grade. Wine in american Committee give them a grade one. I don't care which it is. Just one given a grade one race. We really enjoy it. dylan. Gabby about their. i would also say. Can we get these. Six hundred thousand dollars ungraded races elise e-trade threes enjoy. The story kentucky announced not so much. What happened on the racetrack. There's some very good performances. Maybe a little bit. We'll talk about How are low. Probably would've won the million dollar race not getting his. Reo rosario anacostia joel. Rosario in the meat that he had seventeen winters Just obliterate the record in twelve was the previous record but story as it has been there every preceding year is. What's going on from the business standpoint and you gave the numbers out in these are sensational numbers. This is not for saratoga for del. Mar assist or a little obscure race can have the middle of a field on the in rural kentucky on the tennessee border and think about it is. I don't think they're even close to peak. What's happening here is everybody now is it's not just saratoga. Don't mark human cerebral mar keeneland kentucky downs. That people are horse. Players are circling on their calendars. In why would you. There's two facets to go into a good betting product number was low takeout. Actually i would say three low takeout big fields quality racing. And you get. They get an a plus mark in all three categories. We've got twenty billion dollar handle on that survey worth appears. We'll be talking about a thirty million dollar on that saturday. And yeah i mean they really absolutely do things right there and you know if anyone you know these face starts out there. That are kind of struggling. Well you know if you're running five force fields and you got an a twenty four percent takeout on your exactness. Well you know what kentucky downs is. Show you why you're struggling because that is a formula. It is just not going to work so you know we had them on the back a lot on.

"Td on podcast. Let's talk one episode down many many more to go but happened to be on with you guys. Although i'm not a writer so this feels a little bit out of my element. Either john green for that matter in that seat. The heating and writers room is presented by keeneland yearling sale. If you haven't noticed keeneland. September is in full swing. Lots of action. We're gonna get to it. And i would as made plans to attend the chemo. September growing sale which goes through next friday september. Twenty four th and you can view the catelli at the world's yearling sale dot com. So we're thrilled to have gaby on this week. She is keen on expert. Both from the sales end the racing side. You on september kicked off. As i mentioned on monday. You've done for booked. One both sessions of book one. Lots of action. I believe thirty horses over seven hundred fifty thousand dollar enough. A bunch of a bunch of million dollar eurowings three the first state of six seven yesterday. The action has really picked up through the end of book. One book two starts tomorrow. I believe after today's day. One of the Tossed to gabby mostly for this. Because she's knows a lot more than me she's on. The ground is acting to me. One of the the overarching dame's of one of the things that i noticed early was justifying how popular justify as you would expect that with a triple crown winner But he's got. I mean seems like everyone that comes in the rain is a huge bidding war for him. And it's it's really exciting to now. Think about seeing forces on track next year is two year old and i'm really excited for him in particular. Because he's a son of stat. Daddy scat daddy was going to be aren't superstar sire. He was probably going to be a legendary generational sira. Unfortunately we've lost him too early so i'm really excited to see him. Carry the flag for stat. Daddy going forward. And i think that's one of the reasons that he so popular. Now the people want that sign of stat daddy early on nonni never is one of the ones. I think that he already has got really really popular. Music coolmore ireland. He started at twenty five thousand euros couple years ago. he's already up four hundred fifty thousand euros steffi. So i think that's a big part of it. Obviously that several crowd is is very attractive for people. But you know these are basically just very very novice layman's Observations gabby has the rail stupid and has been there would have been one of your precious. The first few days gabby obviously prep for the keeneland. September sales starts as soon as the book. Comes out for me back in the catalog and kind of going back to that. You know when. I was looking at the pedigree's you see a lot of justifies. So obviously we've seen a lot of people have confidence Inbreeding to him from the get go. That's why we see them. Show up in book one but also the physical i mean. These horses are absolutely gorgeous. So i think that's what's been really attractive to buyers so far but on top of that we've seen a lot of people come to the sale this year with cheese with the intention of buying those classic pedigrees And obviously we see that with justify him being triple crown winner a bmw woodstock they have a new colts partnership obviously the other partnerships that have been active in years past as well but really paying attention to this classic pedigrees and even the presence of people like yuki mori. You know who are take. He's taking Role his justifies back to japan even mentioned That he thought that they would run well on the turf in japan so i think justify is just hitting many different markets. He's he's I think he's gonna wind up being a pretty versatile stallion as many of these buyers think but overall just the first to the first two sessions of a book one yet. They've been strong in. It's been encouraging to see some new buyers a be the marketplace as well. Yeah i mean that was one of the things that i noticed myself a dark days. Friday move move on dirt older. We got to Starting today and then when you have got to work. But yeah i mean. That's it's the schedule. The format has completely changed this year. And so we had two days of book. One two days of to which begins wednesday thursday. The first dark day is gonna be on friday book. Three starts on saturday and the new sales team. Everybody akin keeneland has incorporated new things this year including the offering of our as which you know horses. That did not sell on monday. Came back and sold on tuesday evening of them dead. So yeah there've been a lot of changes just to add to all the layers of this year sale yet we're gonna talk to the shannon arvin the ceo of human a little bit about the sale and been the thoroughly trends in her early impressions while. But there's i think there's a lot of diversity in terms of our at the top of the list. The first couple of days end buying power. I think gabby makes a good point that i think there have been a lot. I think there are a lot of people that are there this year you can affirm that are there this year. That weren't as involved last year. And just because i think interrupted the sale season enough that people either sent representatives or senate out a little bit more than they normally. What's the and this year the lot. There's a lot of international you mentioned to the. Up mario's their winchell. Thoroughbreds got involved. The other day. I got a one point. Three three five million dollars up into mischief ron winchell. He's been he's been trying to get into mischief That that runs well for a while now and has been able to find ones that you really want to the math for that one was rails farm involved with tabby yesterday Loves topix at one point. Three million dollars on a tap it Just looking at the rest of the buyers may berry farm portland arm. Seahorse siebel spendthrift coolmore. So a lot of diversity at the top of the sale in. It's been really exciting. I think you can speak to this. But how has the feeling ben on the grounds in terms of energy as compared to last year in completely different for obvious reasons. There are a lot of people that were bidding online last year. That couldn't make it to the sale physically. And you know. I think a lot of the international buyers have tried their best to come here to keeneland. They really really really wanna be here. Obviously it's extremely difficult. But caitlin has worked with them and and vice versa to try to get some of these international buyers on the grounds But yeah i would say. The energy is completely different than last year. I think people just didn't really know what to do last year right. It was something that we were developing We're developing covert protocols and procedures and everything just kind of came together in september last year but this year it seems like we have a really good blueprint and were building off of that in just making things a little bit more accessible to buyers just all around but yeah even china horse club. They have a presence here her. I was talking to te'o a couple of days ago and he was really upset that he wasn't able to be at keeneland physically last year and was so excited like he kept on saying over and over again. I'm so excited to physically here this year and obviously they've had a big as sales so far not only from buying a buying standpoint but also a selling standpoint as well so it's just good to see some of those familiar faces back but also the international people coming in and the new buyers. You mentioned jim. Dana bernhardt their new. I mean they're. They're new to partic- near lanes at the september sale. And they already. They came in hot with million dollar horrors And they're really really nice spokesman louisiana's though it's been nice to.

"On september tenth. Two thousand one keeneland association in lexington kentucky opened its annual september. Yearling sale a colt by leading sire storm cat. Top the opening session at five point. Five million dollars the final crop of legendary sire. Mr prospector was attracting considerable interest. As well it was business as usual but the following morning as handlers presented yearlings to prospective buyers in the bar area and as consigners were busy rushing updates to the sales pavilion images of coordinated terrorist attacks on the united states began. Filling newscasts being streamlined. On television monitors located throughout keeneland sales complex there were horrific images from new york from washington dc and from pennsylvania the nation was thrown into chaos on the keeneland sales grounds individuals who only moments earlier had been preoccupied with selling and buying horses suddenly stopped. They stared in disbelief struggling to comprehend what was unfolding on the east coast. Keeneland officials immediately announced that the start of the sale will be delayed by one hour but then as the depth of the attacks became more fully known. The decision to the way became a decision to postpone with keeneland. The mount saint that the sale would not continue until the following day at the earliest given that it was tuesday. "Hong kong years ago. I'm debt. I kind of find him. He's actually much better company than imagine on the tony. Explain himself quite well in why he doesn't give more after raises. Sometimes as he said if he wins at a rate server harmed him. They're just annoying thing to add. I thought he explained that quite well. And i really enjoyed it because i find it fascinating to track percents together when thursday evening. I kind of kinda bit nervous. Go i was going god. This could be an absolute disaster and as you read the first thing he said was does not know after dig really deep here but it's we walk like a hundred dollars chat legs you know the euros and and so i really enjoyed company like i would actually like to go for them yet. No it was excellent. It was a really good pace just to shine me. Wouldn't wanna guy for pint with who wins the tom calling. It's undoubtedly the best. I think i've ever seen comforts. Go wrong you know. Talking about roy reward. Oh no no no way ready. Because i suspect he didn't anyway will stick with the arts so knowing actually did read. Wasn't it yeah. It was a very good rita pushed on twitter. And i've read it. It was a very good read but yes back to the art which is equally good as you're faced jay if they will turn up. mustn't actually going to be harkin lane. I think at this stage of the you call clemson about selection without knowing the funnel joel ground etc august so impressed with them lost in the grand prix. Depari allows the pumping little prep race as well I think this race. He's always been in mind park lane rather than a day. I think i'd rather run a day or in the senate ledger and then see what happens often. But i don't know. What do i think harkin i taught the puffy pratt is clearly a very good holst. I'm very well. He's going to be my selection stage three points bigger than a day or as well. I don't understand why white well they turn the same level of form charts king jr.'s. Not like the best run of added harper's to seasonal. I think most of that was quite a difference between the obviously had the best trip. You go up the rial in the ski. He did show that he was a lot better than harkin lane. That day. harkin lost to shoes and he's improved since Another good i'm not. I'm not fabulous next at all. But i'm just surprised you take the hurricane lane. She'll be short not earned american but just the same price. I think just the same prices. I thought love basic that race. The king george thing by going forward i think the level of former donald stand discrepancy and the price is stage. Okay i'll say this. I normally chip him with the view on spur. After that run a gouda wouldn't many great rushed about wonderful tonight. Sixes what threatens. Aj no cy. Five cassette my pay some wonderful tonight. No mattie disagreed maple that i think these are just battered. Marc's brilliant brilliant but these. Are these really nice. Should be great fingers crossed at least well. There's the front eight in the at least six hundred. they will have a fantastic races. The hundreds arc. Of course okay chaps thank you very much indeed. Dj anton what this weekend. Kurt Becker's Stroll Through Racing History: Grindstone

"Only made six career starts but one of them resulted in a victory in the kentucky derby and burst onto the racing. Cd twenty five years ago this month with a win in the louisiana derby. His name was grindstone. A foal from the first crop of nineteen ninety kentucky derby winner dreidel rhinestones was owned and bred by lexington kentucky. Native william tian in the name of his overbrook farm center d wayne lukas grindstone raced twice as juvenile before undergoing surgery for a bone chip in a knee. But after a seven month layoff. He returned to the races with a runner-up relation allowance company at santa anita in february of nineteen ninety-six to start his three-year-old campaign. Despite having made just three career starts grindstone went to new orleans on march seventeen for the great three louisiana derby at a mile and a sixteen despite having nothing more than a maiden special weight victory to his name. Rhinestone was dispatched the two to one second choice behind local favorites arbs magic and it was arbs. Maverick stood and rhinestones way in the final furlong. Tony bentley had. The call takes me puts up. Magic hangs on the inside but it will be grindstone with the lead and sar magic. Grindstone when bill. Louisiana derby by war with terry daily with these victory that day grindstone was now part of discussions for the upcoming kentucky derby but he was lightly raced and no winner of the louisiana derby had won the kentucky. Derby splash gold. In nineteen twenty four grindstone stone would have one more prep race before heading to churchill downs. It would be the arkansas derby on april thirteen. It would be step up to a great two and a stretch out to a mile. An eight rhinestone would enter the starting gate as the eight to five favorite at once again. He would have to deal with the magic in the stretch. Terry wallace brings them home. Describe magic magic comes back. Takes at the magic of turn upset. Rhinestone was only eaten the neck that day but he would be heading to the kentucky derby with a lot of questions surrounding for one thing. Rhinestone had only made five career starts. No horse had won the kentucky. Derby on five starts or less since brokers tip in nineteen thirty-three for another. He wasn't even necessarily the best in these trainers d wayne. Lukas would be sending record. Five horses to the derby and lucas himself was reluctant to rank one above another. As for the rest of the lineup there was unbridled som- who would be the post time favorite. There was avenir from the west coast being trapped by a young trainer. By the name of bob baffert. There were skip away. Who had just set a stakes record in the bluegrass at keeneland. On the first saturday in may nineteen ninety-six. Rhinestone would have to overcome history. He would have to overcome highly talented and more experienced bows and he would have to make a furious. Run in the final furlong. But jockey jerry. Bailey had him in high gear. Dave johnson of abc sports with the goal of cracked late cabinet on the side of town. And here's optima to guide wasn't cabin on the inside was it baby. Mcquaid noted in the top urban grindstone and hit the wire together and it took five minutes for the placing judges to confirm the result of that photo. Finish but the winner of the one hundred twenty second run for the roses was grindstone. As one sports writer. Put it the kentucky. Derby distance is seventy nine thousand inches and by getting his nose in front of the wire grindstone had led only the final four but it was all that he needed five days later. Lucas announced that grindstone had been retired from racing. Following the discovery of another bone chip in the colts need may grindstone the first horse and seventy years to be retired immediately following win in the kentucky derby but he also has become the first horse in seventy two years to win both the louisiana derby and the kentucky derby he had won the first million dollar kentucky derby in history he had given lucas consecutive win and a triple crown race and he had made. Wt young kentucky derby winning owner and brief. I was never proud to stand next to mr young said lucas. Adding this is absolutely the happiest. I've ever been in my life. As a stallion grindstone would become the sire of belmont winter bird stone and the grand sire of classic winners mine that bird and summer bird following his stallion career in kentucky he would relocate to oregon and twenty ten where he would sire more stakes winners in the pacific northwest but the legacy of brian stone began twenty five years ago. This month with a win in the louisiana derby.

"Jeremy Punk. Good Morning, Jeremy. Hey, Good morning. There. I travel a little bit of route 66 of my years living in Oklahoma. So, uh, I got my kicks. I guess they would stay back in the day. Yeah, I was a popular out route 66. Okay, well forward in this generation very impressive win yesterday. Very impressive. When yesterday by art collector he dominated the bluegrass. You know, the filling grand really well with skydiver setting, the patient voted stack and put our collector just kind of said that. First over trip, assumed the lead around the Ain't pulling through off nicely, like a good or should, And that's the kind of church that wins Kentucky derbies in recent years. If you go back from like California chrome forward pretty much the horse across throughout wire first in Derby, we've got a qualified because maximum security was disqualified. But that same kind of trip has won the Derby about a life off the lead and And our collector can get that kind of trip and boy, he look good, and I think he's you know, he's among the top five contenders. I would say that the Derby in September he looked sharp yesterday. That wasn't that wasn't the best field divorces along the prep trail. But everybody's kind of spread out right now. You know, I don't think you're gonna see a lot of really deep field because you got the Haskell. You've got the Peter paying. You got Jim Dandy. You got the Travers. Still enough places for these horses spread out that you're not going to see a really deep field between now and the Serb. You'll get a good contender to Ani Trace and then some killer and I think what our collective did put him near the top of the division. I am the next Saturday will be its air will have Saratoga Open himself getting pretty exciting with the Saratoga, Delmar, Mama Park and Some put the good preparation is, uh, for the Derby on the first Saturday in September, the Preakness the first Saturday in October, and so the horses usually, they say, get better as the season goes on those who can survive the blind. And what's going to be interesting. There was a bit of the grind right and in January February and the first part of Mark's really went to plan, you know, before all this co ver 19 broke out, so a lot of these horses were in serious hard training in January, you know to get ready, so yeah. Can they survive the grind of all the training in the time all the way to September? That will be a key. There's gonna be kids the law right now, right? I mean, he looks so good in the Belmont Stakes. Is that the head of the choir and they're bigger and a little stronger than they were. If we were running in April and may Absolutely that physical development and the mental development right? They've had more trips to the track every morning. They've had more races. Now with a couple starts in between that time, so the mental development of physical development they should be better race horses for sure. A Swede get toward September and then towards the brief mints in October. So still a lot of big chances. You know, I mean, really, the biggest races of the year Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Travers, Haskell, right, or the five big races and four of them are still out there, so we got a lot to look forward to. Okay, well, let's start off with the caiman racist. Today they have nine races in secondary. There's old sprint for three year olds and up. In the morning line. Favorite Urban Insight is a 3 to 1 your thoughts about the second at Keeneland. I think her but inside, it's going to make the lead. I think he's he's fresh coming off the layoff. It'll make the front but the horse I like is Josie because this is a non winners to lifetime race, which means every horse in the race has one career win. I'd like to go back in the resume. See who has the best win on paper amongst the torch is because they've all gotten one trophy who got the biggest one. And for me, it's easily Josie. You want to make it special with Churchill Downs back last lights got the best maiden win on paper, and I think this horse has shown some races in the past there fast enough to get near the Run for chain of Brad talked recently has hasn't run as well. Had a couple bumps at the break off slow type performances earlier this year. I think, Josie get out of the gate. I think she can punch home with her class. So I'm gonna take Josie and a little bit of an upset, but urban inside, I think probably makes the front and then maybe Josie. Consider. Secondly, try to Pam. All right, moving on to the fifth race today at Keeneland with our guest handicapper, Jeremy Punk. We have a mile on the turf for two year olds and on the morning line at 3 to 1 It, uh, Morocco, the eight with Brian Hernandez, who was aboard yesterday on Art collector. Fifth race. Yes, yeah. Brian, Five wins he spied for the jockey's title right now is just a five day meet. He's got five wins. So does Tyler Gas, Leo, So they got a shot to win this short England sprint title. I think Murat was a vulnerable favorite, though, Sam, This is where she comes from way off the pace and is run three times over to cable intercourse and as you hit the board I think this race doesn't have a lot of early pace to it. So the speed of number four chaps going from Sprint races to a route posed for under Korea, Landry. There's no speed at all to the inside of this horse, So I think he easily makes the lead and easily makes the rail just drops right over and we'll take them as far as they can He find more than ready a really good turf miles fire, So I'm gonna take chaps to go wired a wire and race number five. I think Morocco's a vulnerable favor from way back in the pack over a turf porch. Well, he hasn't really run his best race. So I'm pretty bullish today on chaps the four horse there and raise five. Bye and playing some pretty good money for straight maidens. $70,000 purse here in the sixth and this maiden Special week, one mile, three year olds and up. And 52 in the morning line number six Heavenly cysts. I tried to be a favorite of the previous race, but I'm not going to hear. I think heavily sense.

Hog Creek Castle came from the back of the pack that day Vicki I know you remember it well I. Just thought it'd be nice to take you back there one more time. What a performance that afternoon and hoping for similar again later today. Absolutely, It was amazing the race he ran that day and That's what we're hoping for today We're up against. You know we ran with three year olds last year. as we're. Having to step up. Of course in this race. And Seven eighths was his perfect. Distance and But we feel like he'll go the mile. And again we're just going to step back and make our final run down stretch. Yet you know it's it's interesting. Since that win the woody Stevens last June by the way this the last time that he found the winner circle. He's faced off with some heavy hitters. He hasn't really duct anybody He returns to greatest company after that second place finish as the favorite with allowance horses at Churchill. Why was this the right spot to put him in here today Vicky? Well we sit. Decided to go, you know thought that was the perfect place so allowance right? He hasn't had a win. spend Belmont. And? We thought that was the perfect five Unfortunately, unfortunately, like Tony Allen jumped up. And ran a heck of a racist day. We just couldn't run him down. And After they're just really. Aren't any what knee other places to really to run. And we were hoping to run a keeneland. Believe! They had the Commonwealth there back. Before everything shut down seven eighths of a mile, which was going to be a perfect spot. And they for some reason didn't bring that race back. For their short meat. So and Our owners. We just decided that we we wanted to go. We didn't want to run six anymore. Or six and a half. And we feel like that. that. He deserves this opportunity. To and we know, he loves racetrack. "About in a minute but here in one the last two. Gotham 'S COFFEE. I have a lot of respect for I loved his my own at Eighth Wayne. I thought it was good. It was the best route maiden winner. We've seen this year On the triple. Crown trail is a really good effort. He's you know he's got really good. Pedigree Damn Sarah. Louise was a real runner There's a lot to like about SPA. City at a my own sixteenth at Tampa on a track that you know will be souped up. They will be running track record left and right. It happens every day. If obey down he may not be the brilliant horse for a mile and a sixteenth to win that. I think you know coming off. The maiden races is a great next step and one thing we know about the blue grass stakes at keeneland horses. Coming out of the Tampa Bay Derby not of the Tampa. Prep SERIES. Have done extremely well. The timing works. Great I don't know if you've got anything to do with footing because even went back to the polly trek era but the Tampa to bluegrass connection has been superb over the years. I would think SPA city would be set up to be a very very dangerous horse in the Bluegrass is Kieran Hometown Back to the mile and an eighth which one is made net? I'm thinking more brilliant. Turn of foot kind. Horses may have the edge In the Tampa Bay Derby but I think SPA cities horse is going to really run a good race. You know the top three or four hit the board. Look good and move forward to the next one. I think he's a horse move in the right direction. And you know he's a top five four for me really right now and Amongst all the other major stakes players city is really a legitimate force on this year's trail. And I'm sorry to hear but I mean.

"I'm guessing you've heard of the Kentucky Derby Abi to this race that's run usually early in May we haven't yet talked about the Kentucky Derby this year but that's about to change as we're finally starting to get into rounds of prep races that will winnow the field down to twenty for the run for the roses on May the second so to help us do that. We bring in voice. We haven't heard on this show for too long and and that's Jonathan Listener who writes for horse racing nation. Welcome back Jonathan. So before we get into a few specific horses. WHO's impressed you the most so far on the triple triple crown trail? I think Dennis moment to start the list. Dentists moment strikes to lead right at the top of the stretch at Delta. Two lanes lead our three lately for the final final furlong. Dennis this moment with five length lead scabbard with clear sailing up the second but Dennis moment kicks off the road at the Kentucky Derby in a big way. He barely moved a muscle. That we we have it. RESTRAINING NATION DOT COM user generated Kentucky Derby contender rankings and despite his trouble that experience career dentist moment has not left that number. One spot. You talking about a grade three winner. Who was going to be the favourite the Breeders Cup Juvenile L. Stumbles out of the gate? You know he could be undefeated if you look back at his debut he lost his jockey was really no fault zone so he has the two losses and between between them. He's sandwich to really really nice. Looking victories including his debut at Ellis Park they won by like nineteen and a quarter lengths. I think it was so there's a lot of potential there and he's one that I feel like every once in a while you hear about a derby prospect before they make their debut and then we kind of latch onto them I wanna say it was probably roadster roadster last year because Baffert said he could be his next justify American Farrow and obviously it didn't work out there but they'll Romans has talked up Dennis's moment since before he he ran a race. And so we're we're kind of going to the same thing here As far as a couple of other runners eight rings also out of the Breeder's cup juvenile. He's a really interesting. One didn't really run his race. You know the last time we saw him but I think the way he's going to be handled this season. You have to keep paying attention trained by Bob Baffert. He's he's GonNa run him in the rebel at Oaklawn. And then the Arkansas Derby potentially there as well and then another one that you know kind of on the fence about that you know. He's got a lot of towns. Is Max `field scratched from the Breeders Cup Juvenile. He had a little bit of an issue. There it turns out we found out a couple of weeks after that that he had had a minor surgery for a bone chip. But he's not even in serious training now. Well he's he's he's apparently galloping No works yet and so I think they'll have to do the to A. Ah kind of schedule where you hope to get race out of them and then you have a more serious race which I would expect to be something like the blue grass stakes if everything works out well and he's undeniable town. I'm and I think he's GonNa win a major race somewhere down the road. I don't know if it's going to be the Kentucky Derby and then the other one I feel like it's gotten all the conversation is independence hall at at Independence Hall now makes his move. Independence Hall is the leader getting away to lead by two prints of Pharaohs has moved up on the outside. It's Bourbon Bay Independence All L. linked and a half as they come for the quarto prints of Pharaohs on the outside Bourbon Bay. It is independence hall with the lead and now a furlong to the finish Jose Ortiz showing them the whip now goes to work on independence hall. WHO has a three likely? Just a sixteen to the finish at. It's the constitution called Independence Hall. Tailwind Jerome by four Knights won the national stakes by open links came back and won the jerome. It was a little more workmanlike. But he's going to go. Oh into the new year here as another one of the favorites and if I could talk about one more that has sort of attracted my attention a little bit. It's this ancient warrior horse. I don't know what his path is going to look like. He's Jerry Hall android or for trainee. And if you follow racing at all the last year or so. You'll know that. He's SORTA become embattled. Dan from the strike. Group's tracks out in California But I of all these horses that have won maiden races and we'll be going to the stakes. I want to watch that one closely. He's moved him over to Oakland Park. We should see him in an allowance. Race coming up at the beginning of February and then from then on he should be on the Derby trail else. That's one that that I definitely want to see more of well. You mentioned Bob Baffert. And it's tough to talk about the Kentucky Derby Trail Without Bob Baffert and he has a lot more than the one you mentioned. There's thousand words who ran a big race in the low sal futurity. I'm a Roger Federer Fan but you have to give it up for an doll who is also ambassador trainee. Who looked really really good? So I mean you know Bob Baffert certainly knows how to get horses to the Derby mean how many of these prospects aspects of pan out. I see a path for all of them. To be honest. You know and we also have mentioned authentic. It's still authentic coming to the three the eight ball. He's been in control throughout leads by a length and a half to uncaptured hero. It's all authentic as they pass the quarter pole and turned for home authentic and complete Khaliq Command turning it on. He's in front by sex with a furlong left to go. Zimba Warrior and Assault Coast as authentic is putting on a show. Here is a little green gene shifting about but long gone authentic strolls home in the sham. He'll win by about eight lakes green. It's Grafton stretch and just kept going there and another extremely impressive Horse Nidal I. I wonder about him a little bit. You know we've only seen him one time on Sunday and that six and a half for a long race he he looks like Dortmund Ortmann if you go back to two thousand fifteen big horse. That wasn't extremely fast out of the gate but once he got into stride he went straight to the pace and never really let up there. Yeah it's not not really the kind of horse you want to win the Derby but I think you could get to the Derby and then thousand words certainly has every reason to move forward his last race. I think they had probably a little bit the too much blinker on him and he ended up going head to head with that no door that ran in the Breeders Cup juvenile second. I think it's SORTA legitimize both of those horses that they ran so closely in the future. But I think thousand words is probably at least a couple of lengths better then a no door. He just probably didn't see him in the stretch until Flavian Kinda guided him out and it's like Oh with the blinker. The horse realized he had something to run against a win on. So I guess when you talk about horses that I'm looking at in the new year. Thousand Words is definitely on that shortlist list to Jonathan Listener of racing. Nation is with us here on the gate. We've talked a little bit about the Breeders Cup juvenile which was a topsy turvy race. You had three big horses that we've mentioned into all had their problems that day. We haven't talked about the horse. Who Wanted Storm the court for trainer Peter Martin and that would be a very popular win in the racing business? As you know what chance do you give storm the court to back up what he did in the juvenile. Oh probably not much not a lot of black type in the family. I'm not sure if there's any black type from Stanley I'd agree wise. And then you know he was obviously the beneficiary of other horses stumbles in that race You Know He. He goes gate to wire was not really pressed a whole lot and at the same time. I think they took the blinker. They put their blinkers on. I'm sorry and I have not a fan of lemon. That put blinkers was on a horse at that point in their career. I feel like you should be taken them off so that they can relax. Prepare to go a little bit longer. I think that race and the circumstances just all all came together for storm the court and allowed him to upset that race. It's forty five to one. Whatever he ended up that day I'm sort of in agreement? I think with everybody else that the the the better Derby Derby prospect was no door and second in that race going forward. I want to mention because these races have just happened. Enforceable label for Mark Cassie. Who is not missed? A beat after a son norm went out on his own. He had been his father's chief assistant and enforceable. Really good winning the Lecomte. But we haven't seen too many Lecompte winners. Go on to run well in the Kentucky Derby. Where do you put me as a tap it colt out of a dixie union in marriage? The breeding is good. I put him a really high on my list. As far as forces will be in the Derby but I would not put him on my list of forces that I think can win the Derby and I say that because of his running style you know if we go back to almost every year that the point system has been effect and obviously gets rid of those pure your sprinters. It's the horses that can put themselves near the front at the beginning of the race and keep that pace up and never be caught by closers that tend to win the Derby enforceable enforceable is one of those closers. It's inevitable that he's GONNA run into traffic problem you know. I almost hope he sneaks into the Derby and everybody overlooks. Because I feel like he's the kind of horse could come into the super factor. That's probably going to be a really common line of thought. Though I mean I'm thinking a few months out but the soup perfect You know in the era of a favorites winning the Derby is as remain because it's pretty high minimum of really profitable wager for people nonetheless so yeah for me. He's a super effective player. I I I think he's GonNa be okay as the distance is longer obviously is a full brother Mohammed and a half years day. There's a lot there in the pedigree just really impressive on paper and it was good to see him run as well as he did you know He. He broke his maiden at nine furlongs last summer at Saratoga and it looks like okay. Here's a real two year old and I you know he ran into you. Go into a little bit shorter and the breeder security at keeneland and Max field because two things came together and got him beat but he's definitely better horse than he showed that day and it was good to see him back it up the trump

"Time guest to the show this man is responsible for love American racing he was part of the old eighty or one of his favourite beds is the box and not only is he abetting genius he's also one of racing's nice guys it is my absolute privilege to welcome to the show Barry Faulkner on bushing onto one suit box exact barry it's about time you made your debut in the final furlong my friend India and great to have you onboard as well looking forward to your thoughts your expert thoughts for what should be too exciting nights of racing on sky sports racing and you can hear in the background making his little giggling cab can be over the last five years we've been doing this together so we have to have the main man on board Pete Foreign it's Al from sky sports racing welcome back and it's a pleasure to be here that was my first final Furlong podcast ever back in twenty fifteen when I was living over in London then and I think back to that very fondly going from being a regular listener to getting to be on the show on a regular basis it's always a pleasure and I'm happy to be here no you're kind man my friend and it's good to have you aboard as well we couldn't do this without your insight as well and speaking of that let's get a brief snapshot of things are we go in there because Santa Anita is normally gold for the Europeans I think this is the record amount of time that track has has held the Breeders Cup but opean runners have never gone away from Santa Anita empty-handed there have been some tracks where we struggled but entries are down this year the pre entries were down the overall European and particularly UK and Irish representations down the obvious exceptions this is Brian and is this is to do Peter and we discussed this in the final film podcast earlier in the season with some of the difficulties some of the series difficulties that sent any face regarding fatalities because let's not forget it was only a few months ago that the Breeders Cup themselves had a meeting to decide whether or not sent an easy would keep it and at the time the word was it was going to be taken off them have things been sorted out and is there still a little bit of nervousness in the air ahead of the biggest meeting of the entire year to be honest I hadn't thought about the welfare issues as a reason why the euro participation is down I was thinking it was somewhat ran them but it's not it's not a crazy thought but I'd like to think that with all effort that's been made in California on you and with California racing together this surface right and say that if that if that is the underlying reason that that that's a erroneous Yes eroneous logic I'd like to think that we've got a service that we was going to play hopefully in a manner that's fair and most important Paul safe over the two days of the Breeders Cup and for the remainder of this fall meeting at Santa Anita well the fact that you haven't been thinking about it tells me that the been less issues lately they've hopefully then iron things out so that should be good barry what are your thoughts on it we donated with the West Coast the entries this year the same level as a two years ago in Delmarva we've got one more race this year significantly down on the entries interest for the British Company in Kentucky last year I doubt in general I think it's a disadvantage for horse shipping California hosted Slip Shipping East but they do that so relative time there's an east coast and they just as far as the truck goes treated hundreds from work and they've done significant amount and hopefully they will have resolved issues they undoubtedly how dealer in the year the cause of the lack of interest from this year I don't really think civilian position to say okay well hopefully things are all aren't out and we can be really excited about the race meeting I genuinely am the other thing to talk about is pace and draw bias because there's definitely draw bias at Sente- Nita impeach you've got some big about that well it's what we're trying to hit a moving target addressing this issue but I think it's something worth considering part of the safer surface I was talking about has to do with the the rail not being gene the place to be more typically in American racing in twenty twenty and we've seen this at a lot of places and it's not super consistent but I mean like Saratoga for example the inside was really not where you want it to be much of the meat now we don't exactly know what it's going to be like for the Breeders Cup something we have to pay attention to because it is very difficult down on the inside you got some short priced favourite to ordinarily I'd like quite a bit core drawn down there but as with all time you try to play the bias game at my friend Mike Baloney the professional horse player says if you WanNa dance with bias you best do so on your toes and that's very much the case but what we've seen at Santa Anita it's very unusual typically good inside means good things for speed and bad inside means it's easier to come from off the pace but what we've seen at Santa Anita this meet on Sundays is as part of the the surface also there's a lot of kickback and it can be difficult to close so you wanna be up towards the front but you want to be up towards the front and not necessarily down on the inside now whether not this is going to be the go forward to be the case for the Breeders Cup I'm not GonNa make any assumptions about it but I'm going to be looking for it and I'm going to act quickly and upgrade horses on I'm talking about the dirt of course horses on the dirt who are going to get that kind of preferred trick and what about you would you be reacting than in real time as well because I remember Breeders Cup where I think it was the year in Vizor won the Breeders Cup classic he was the exception to the rule but everything drawn on the inside like almost if you were on the dirt install water still to you immediate advantage for whatever reason the way that was playing out so I know that you've been studying for the last week or so barry and particularly since the drawers been announced yesterday and today but will you be reacting in real time to how the draw plays out on the night on Sky I think the key thing looking oh bison shifted very very careful because we know sort of simple Harlem hospital you know you'll get a show class FA across favorites join inside wins by St and some inside draw boss that's not indicate indicators you get along show them means how to take on they didn't hangs around and then finishes a close fourth that tells you that the drill by so you hundred very careful how you look at the data it's being presented you you call you see what you're saying if there is the current vice that let's stay alerts and try and take advantage so that we can get maximum gravy so over the two nights all of it live on Sky I've got a brilliant promo to pray at the halfway stage here but let's get straight into the Breeders Cup juvenile turf sprint I'm almost afraid to say the name for the reaction from Pete Four Hundred L. Kamari dear we've got four wheel drive the good as we are getting a decent price seventy two but the terribly unlucky horse at Royal Ascot four wheel drive is currently a best price of nine to two if you look at the races dot com there's allie making the trip over to represent the Europeans to be fair that's for seven Crisford with old friend Frankie Dettori on board as well so there are the three that had the bedding was the awards what are the representation Ena Brian sending over King Neptune with Ryan Moore who will be writing all of his main hopes for the week Barry and I will talk about the group one I stakes which would be run at Newcastle just before we move on Saturday that's a fascinating races has been reopened but Kamari was your goatee the horse for Roy Alaska he's too from to since he has been he was a long odds on favourite in one of those races short price favourite and the other are you sticking with the my friend she's the real deal Kamar very impressive as you pointed out did everything but win at Royal Ascot on ground that she didn't love and has looked so good in the starts since particularly in the last day showing new dimension coming from last I I had ripped up my ticket practically after they broke from the gate at Keeneland that day figuring out what you can't win from their managed to get the job done anyway and has looked very good in her track were park as well she worked out with down for nowhere the other day and really went to the toying with bound for nowhere in a work and then all he went and did is run a massive time figure in an impressive victory in his race last week I think she sitting on go I think she's square price four wheel drive is another ward runner who is very talented is actually done better on the clock Kamari has I plan on getting Kamari to win yes and I'll play a forecast exact with a four wheel drive over Kamari to back that up in just taste. I'm very curious to hear what you guys think of alley as a potential one to upset the apple cart I just don't know I love him I I don't know how well he's going to be sued by this by this configuration of the very sharp five furlongs around dead but it's Kamari from me

Discussing Leading up to Breeder's Cup 2019 (With Scott Hazleton, Nick Luck, Gina Bryce, Frank Mirahmadi)

"Tasers plus i'm working came about ten years ago now i think it was wins and jato is still running goodyear to come i think she won the this stuff yeah and so i missed her agonizing defeat but yeah great to be back we mortar place kind of standing here thinking why do i live why do i live in the UK suv amen code and i i try to live here as much as i possibly can and you've been you've been stateside a ton the last several months skull and comparing notes as to how many days spent away from home this year i was beaten by you you will have someone nearly two hundred i think about one hundred twenty six months for me my very long suffering wife is just that if you need to pass assistant i'm happy to come along make the coffee whatever i'd say it's a pretty good gig you got going on out here on a day like today looking over the mountains perfect temperature top class horses cantering i you all is well with the world now and ideally from from here on in the next seventy two hours through saturday tonight get them all around safe and make this make this the the idyllic session that it should be the from from art lips god's ears as we say i wanted also to to the dubai experience right the last the last several years the the international i scott i mean lucky enough to where it we've got a royal ascot gina as well jeanine scott on the same royal ascot show now skull comes over and does a great job for fatigue as well then dubai and dubai together on on that show so yeah trips have been right i mean you can't get rid of me and to be honest with you our our our first encounter we always have we have this connection our first encounter which bad pinch is not here for this story because we're all together was the two thousand seven breeders cup at monmouth park it was my first big remote for HR TV it was was your first go second chauffeur ESPN yeah and it was lafitte lafitte was during the winter cycle presentations i show and we somehow not surprisingly found each other and managed to hang out more than a few times it was of course that week it was often oblique experience that we well saturday and sunday uh about friday and saturday but we're not talking about the weather though you're you guys were well the rain was what i call crying baby rain you think naturally has to stop but it never does danger this week that was is that was as frustrating a scenario as you'll ever going to have around racetrack it was gorgeous every single day that i got i got to meet scott hazelton think either third how i was blessed and we've not looked back since twelve years later here we are that was i i was there broadcasting for for me that was actually my first that was the first season of the show when i was alone was two thousand seven and broadcasting from from the from john heinz office that compound here and the show was four o'clock at that time four to seven so i was there all day and i basically ended up answering phones and helping people tickets and and really i was always met the days i that's one of my fondest memories let's get some let's get some thoughts and nick i always rely on you for international purposes however you've been covering all the lead ups so you know your opinions can go far beyond the the euro's but from an introductory stand point some of the horses this year that that are are kind of new and of course we had not a bayton switch but magical and up disappearing at the last minute and it was frustrating because she was ready to the sun aim she'd have been the marquee name as she'd been here given i welsh around last year and the season she's hiding she went on champions are champions weekend but she's not so on we go there isn't not substan- aim if you'd like to to hang the european challenge on but it scott some debt and there are plenty of hoses who legitimate i think probably the most interesting pair of horses is old persian and anthony van dyck see whether they can whether they can let down to bricks and mortar on the on the turf in the mile and a half race and whether they can expose any shortcomings in in bricks and mortar stamina i don't if you saw the clip on on twitter of me accosting chad yesterday it was a good natured exchange i said to my overcomplicating it he said you always complicate everything i think the the influence i was supposed to draw was that breaks it was just a good horse and i i think he'd be impervious to distance but i i think there's a dealer confidence in the ballydoyle camper van dyken can step up i think you'll have to step up a bit even though he's won a dobby and finish that in an irish champion stakes i think he needs another little step foot but they seem to think he's had the perfect preparation and he's by no means an afterthought they've had this race lined up for him since the summer and that always when we get to this juncture very often we've talked about horses that at the last set again they said oh let's go and and those horses invariably don't run well exactly so it's it's great that he's he ain't going great record in the race he's probably comparable to one one or two of his winners atn equivalent stage of their career he's he's legitimate and i can't seem finishing out of the out of the front path really i said to michelle when i was chatting to a yesterday on on the TV gee breakfast show and i'll say it again if old persian doesn't get any love from the batter's he's probably worth passing because on his full from your last year and his form for made on earlier this year a mile and a half on firm turf he's a he's a very good host but he does need to take a leap forward from the canadian run which was just okay even though he won the triple digit bar though did he not a one can rier you can run fast but just there wasn't much depth to the race fair enough for the work that i want to bring up to is a lou neck the ville de mar hicks runner because if desert encounter doesn't make that spectacular run at woodbine doesn't doesn't he show up here with a little bit of a little i'm chad i'm chairman of the desert encounter fan club only only a really ardent admirer of his exploits think he would have any kind of a show in anna breeders cup too so i think he's a show plan alaniz maybe he's honest horse who has proven that he's effective in north america but i think that's about us boulder cases i can make fair enough at an eugene you sort of perked up at the mention of his name all right yeah i actually agree with nick on the on the breeders cup turf but i just saw time christmas go past this morning on friday i think that's pretty amend as a bit of a lottery that race and they're coming down the hill and you want to get a good break and be drawn well and and get on with proceedings but the europeans quite well drawn in that race seems to be quite a few in with chances is one that's really so stamped his authority on the five furlongs sprint division at home it's a nice little horse his knee and actually when you see him go past he's not going to take the i really but i think he could be quite interesting and he's in a good spot there archie watson does really well with his juvenile he's bringing over a runner and band practice i think it's been joined in two so you'd expect him to had to be sharp and out and and another one with a with a chance but i think the juvenile houses some sometimes the race is that europeans can can occasionally pinch on the turf and there's a few interesting ones this year lucky though that with it being it's a different this year because this is only the second year of the juvenile turf sprint they had but they didn't it wasn't consecrated until she was able to race on the on the go a bit but having it around the band i think that the wesley horses have the advantage of their speed they out of the gate they get that position on the turn and then while you know it's it's game over it's not what you know the european i used to i think camario win if she breaks she's i know that's the that's the if i honestly think she's she couldn't it took a role of keeneland didn't that it took a rule of the stretch kaitlyn and then they're not gonna come back here i don't think we saw last year pledges hose just came out and blasted a multiple that was a different type of course it was it was i guess but i i don't know i think she wins if she breaks success good chances we'll drive drive yeah it's interesting they've taken a ali to wolverhampton to try and chain around the bend and get used to that because you know they you say they all going to encounter different different conditions today sir friday and they've only been running on the straight it's tough five gallons they've had to practice changing awesome getting out quickly and coming around a bend if you were there's there's one thing that unites ceos like a ali in the juvenile turf sprint and a host like anthony van dyke in turf is that this fixture has been on the top of their agenda since the summer so you're talking about hostess who are being specifically targeted at the breeders cup there's to die yet would be another one in the long race for fillies on the turf the to your own race on the tough and raja verion before she even one and finish second on an island in the moya he was saying i want to go to california with an east had some success with osa finishing placed in breeders cup races before they they have three hoses who have been typically targeted at this fixture right from the word go this year

Early Thoughts Before Pre-Entries

"Gossip Good Morning Good Morning Steve. How're you doing good to be back home glad to whatever you want you know it's open open mic DOC whatever is ready and of course you follow gusts through everybody's followed gusts forever from day one on at the races and got a couple of plays maybe for the weekend gus but some some early thoughts before pre entries as we look Toward Cup it's always talked before pre entries but breath just looking at the races exciting exciting racist to get excited about it I think cameras just said I think the sprint and the dirt mile probably the two right now but I mean we have three solid juvenile's with noon Dennis moment eight rings and and Max Bill which I think three of those are very quality horses and just looking to see how these fields shape up but I mean I'll see you know some great opportunities in those fourteen racist for sure what we haven't obviously we haven't had a chance to talk anything on a consistent basis but what do you like to do when it comes to terms of a ticket structures and and focus in how many how many multi-race wagers which one's the utilize the most I'll tell you what you know you get these big fields I had the most success with exactly is in doubles to tell you the truth sometimes simple the up keep it simple and You get I mean you get a lot of value and those plays with the you know arch fields in and actually pick a couple of wide open races I usually focus on that I do tickets with the you know the picked force and I like to find at least one single maybe to deepen the other one and maybe spread that's what I kind of look forward definitely a single though in the pick four pick five I definitely need one host but I think even the pick threes you know the pick threes are they paid handsomely in the last few years as well but I think people you know who spoke with the exact in the doubles I mean you can get some real value if you if you got a good opinion onto racist back to back you can get paid well and we were in fact last week with Jeff Siegel this came up and when I was asking Jeff about his preparations and when it comes to the a ticket building and and we'll remind everybody that as much time as we spend handicapping the gotta spend a hundred percent the maybe not maybe not practical to spend as much time building the tickets but there's gotta come a point Wednesday Thursday where you you've got a pretty good idea of of the horses you're going to key around take a break from I'm from the handicapping and put pen to paper and write down the your perspective wagers and budgeted out and and you know take a look at the you know once we get the announcement I think it's on the twenty third by the way runs day the twenty third will be the race order official order announcement the Breeders Cup has a tendency to the tinker with it based on on the way the field size shape up you know look at that structure highlight the spots where you've got your strongest opinion and then back up on either side of those strong opinions if you're a mother erased player and you know we keep suggesting you know if you if you typically pick four player okay fine you're going to play your series of fake force but this is where you take a step back to and play more pick threes and the doubles and I I I think it's advice that I try to drive home every single u a year that you you don't WanNa have some of your best ideas the horses that end up winning that you had a good feel for an and then you didn't cash because there's some upset in the third or fourth leg of a pick four and you you didn't leverage your good idea as strongly as you might have oh I totally agree with that you know like you said once the the race orders come in just pick your spots we have your strongest opinions and then you go from there I mean that's I mean horse players nightmare there were your your ten to one shot twelve the one shot comes in and then you're single maybe a three to one shot you know doesn't come in the last leg and you didn't have anything on on on your your strongest opinion the price that's that's tough pill does Walla sometimes no doubt gusts will obviously you know get a chance to direct people toward you and and the analysis at at Brisbane that and Talk Again Cup Week maybe you know pick out a a a spot that you know the to discuss what what he did complain of of late how much keeneland action you taking it definitely on the weekends for sure and dabbling a little bit during the week I mean some great racing the weather's been fantastic and big fields they're coming to an end here this weekend but got a couple of plays today actually Keelan let me here let me let me see got hold on I got the where's where's my keeneland Friday Thursday AK with Saturday I keep the Friday about what's going on down believable there's so much there's so many things here did you play Gulfstream yesterday by the way did you play the pick five thing a little bit I did I did and got knocked out pretty early believe it or not you would not price horse which is Kinda it'll happen yeah oh yeah it was over quick so it's pretty full paid well for me though for the for the amount of low prices that were that were at three was a signal and the third leg so I know it's funny that that was the that was the horse that gave the opportunity to to to tip toe to turn it into a pick four but yet I do get the sense a lot of people got tripped up either on the in the first leg or the last leg where the two spots we're GONNA WE'RE GONNA get the one side of the other well let's talk about Qinglin go ahead what are you got today seven just my best friend today force MS coming out of the Woodbine Mile Bill Seventy eight to one mile with a chaining hill started the outside somehow he he maneuver beautifully coming into the turn but down the stretch is totally got shut off had nowhere to go I thought he had nice I made a move just didn't have enough to go this horse has been running good all year up at Woodbine five draws the five here which is which is ideal nine to two is very fair price is a loaded racist could be a stakes race disallowance this allowance race but I like plot I think he's going to get a good trip there's enough speed in front where he's going to be right in stock and right behind I mean he's faced some nice horses I think this is the time to to get in this at somewhere of now ninety two would it be beautiful if we can get that and I think we will because you know the outside you have a few horses that are going to take some money especially Colin Road for for Michael Maker Jose Ortiz that was gonNA take somebody coming out of ah graded great three but ms I think is the wholesome and a key on all over in in starting reporter and race seven and Connor Murphy for whatever reason Connor Murphy does not does not draw money and wins I mean he wins plenty does a good job interesting to see Mark Glatt come to keeneland souter shows up here yet pick source interesting ski Churchill last time kind of finished pretty decent but it's a nice horse was nice races earlier in the year so and you got Roselle Rosario on board into feature the feature very nice race today again the the greatest Devali view fulfilled I think by horses winter sunset four eight to one on the morning line think might get a couple of clicks down I mean she's versatile I don't know if she wants to go nine furlongs I think she kinda flattens out at nine furlongs the mile amount of sixteenth which is I think this is her her best distance coming off a win at Indiana ground at any grant she's got a nice post and she's just a nice trip there there's some speed lined up to the inside I think she can get I run and I mean the twelve is going to be flying late this lady the prince a lot for Baltistan she's eight to one I think she comes down from that I can see here making a big move middle of course coming down the lane but winterson that's it for me eight to one would be great I think she gets I run on on on the closers and should sit a nice trip there again for channing hill it's now and Bhartiya earlier to Mardi landed on winter sunset yeah I'm not sure what the price I think she might down from Chad you've got to chat horses that are Ya Chad takes money like you you saw yesterday focus group was was really over bet yeah I like him but it's too crazy I'll tell you what I have a bomb in the second race so a bomber I'm GonNa take just fly the one horse abstinent for Ian Wilkes make third start first time on on the turf going to turns Bravo Bravo couple of wins from six starts the meat this horse broke the last couple of times I starts his career broke out think the inside post and Bravo might be able to as well she's fifteen to one in the morning line you might get fifteen twenty to one hundred Meta take a flyer on her and also gotTa pick for tonight at down coming

Jose Ortiz Interview - October

"Welcoming Jose Ortiz who is a native of Puerto Rico and his one more than nineteen hundred races in what has been just a a stellar career and that career still going strong and he's with me now here on H. R. N. Jose Good Morning My friend Mike give having yeah. Thanks for taking a little time. I know you're a busy working horses. This morning. Never ends does it does not if you want to be the best which right now you certainly are my friend Brendan. You know it's interesting. I mentioned being a native of Puerto Rico one of the jockeys who mentored you when you came here and one of the people that you looked up to is his hall of Famer Johnny Velazquez who last week set the record for most greatest stakes victories by jockey in the history of the sport and that has to make you very proud. I know that yeah yeah we are happy about it and it keeps going throwing you know hopefully he can give winning some more on winning out much again until you know until heater dyers what makes him so good then you got a lot of these. Atlanta for the sport and I think that having taken to the next level where he's been for awhile you know yeah he certainly he's been doing it for a long time and still doing it at a very high level. How many great stakes victories are you behind him now. I don't know I have made the way to go yeah one day well that win yesterday and the Phoenix was impressive. This is a horse. You've you've been on before you knew him. You get back aboard him yesterday and he's able to hold off Whitmore who was putting in that late run. Take me through the race Jose. Well we broke. We broke very good. expect expecting a much faster pace but they did in in came out of five dollars. I thought they would and I was able to be closer than I than I thought. I was going in two weeks so I think that well We have a very pain trip when I ask him to. Well what they're for me the whole time. You know he's a horse worse by intimacy if that when you were riding him last year and even this year at Saratoga he was trained by Chad Brown now he's trained by Steve Asmussen. Ah when you were riding him before he was always knocking on the door but he couldn't quite get past horses like promises fulfilled you yesterday you beat him and everybody everybody else. Is there a difference. Did you feel something different now with engage than you did last year. He always been a ah very nice or worse. I think some more mature before others on. I think he'd take a while but I think he finally figured out you know. Did you know that Moore was gaining on your yesterday. I didn't knew what Whitmore Kabaya fell somebody coming out. You can tell yeah I could yeah. Did you know you had enough left in the tank. He very game he always has been and I knew what GonNa try but you know something this all horrors you know he's just turned four so there's all live orders season and they are very good. You know they they come in. They coming at you like wait Marino. He's very nice or you know that win. In the Phoenix was part of a Multi Win Day on opening day of Keeneland then you you've had several days in your career where you've won multiple races like that. I asked you what makes John Velazquez so good. What makes Jose Ortiz so good. I don't let somebody out of that. Answer that question. I guess right to be myself on gave that horses the best chance to win but you also worked very hard I mentioned you're out working in horses this morning. I know you're being humble and and that's what's part of makes you part of. What makes you so good but Jose you work your tail off and put me the in in the saddle with you for minute if you will if I can use that term take me through like your routine in your approach to riding races. How do you get ready to go out there. Every day and ride was everything star on the when the overnight comes up so I have to see we shorts on on quantum there I go the R F and and they got the raises and I put him whatever I think they should be and you know I have to talk to a trainers on and follow their their instructions but at the same time I want to I want her to be relax and that's that's what I try to be happy and I think they control and relaxed. We'll give you a running the end of it yeah you know. Johnny will always tell tell me about his different plans that he has going into the starting gate the plan a plan b the Plan C. and you hope you don't have to get any further than that but once the gates open you can listen to the trainers instructions all day long but once the gates open things can change quickly right very quickly. What do you you do at that point. Do you say Oh my God. I gotTa follow his instructions or do you say I just gotTa. Let my instincts takeover in and try to ride this race the way it needs to be ridden now so you've got to let your instincts they over because it's very tough to execute a plan when their plan doesn't work from from the gate you know. Yep You gotta change everything so I think you just gotTa Julia uh-huh. Yeah everything you could do everything changes in and you just have to adjust and that's why I've always said you know jockeys in terms of there's always that debate are jockeys true athletes athletes and I think you know I've said for years but pound for pound jockeys the most gifted athletes that we find in all sports and I have no doubt about it and you're certainly right there Jose. Let's talk about the horses that you're going to be aboard today. You're in all of the great stakes races at keeneland which is to be expected matter of fact. Thank you might be riding every single race at keeneland today. nice to be in demand extravagant. Kid is a horse. You're going to be aboard in the WOODFORD stakes. That's is the first greatest stakes today. What can you tell me about. Extravagant kid very nice hard. I had the opportunity to ride him. One time before and we won he's doing very good very fox. Horse doesn't need to be on the late which is very helpful full on way like junkets. Today we think is very life so right to win all right and then in the next race in the TC a talked to me and I think I'm saying that name correctly but talk to me the horse. You're going to be aboard there. You've been aboard her. The the last two starts second last time out in the Press Kyle downes master stakes on September sixteenth. Tell me a little bit about her. It's very nice to write very easy last time. She has run very very very good. we are expecting seeming to or better than last two times. I think she got shut all right and then the first lady turn our attention there you go to the first lady stakes miss bad behavior for Richard. Balta says the Horse Year aboard. What do you know about her. I won on her Kentucky Down She got some sleep but he's he's also stayed on the race so let's see how they're they're in writing about her because she he doesn't need elite. Also g come come on. We gotta go pole so let a break and make sure shade in a winning position I during your yeah how much different is writing this keeneland turf of course then of course like Kentucky Downs Kentucky down says the undulating up and down configuration. How much different is it run getting more like we do every day. You know saying Kinda you you know over same thing by Kentucky different. Go Up and down left right so I think in Kentucky and it's all about the horse like it you WanNa be okay. It doesn't like nothing you can do about like well. Let's hope that this bad behavior likes the keeneland turf course later today in the classroom breeders futurity Max Field for Brendon. Walsh is the second time that Brendan will give you a leg up in a greatest stakes today. Tell me about Max field. You went on him last time out to very nice coat a win first time out very nicely actually that day a he was a speed favor drug. Nobody was coming from behind and he did which is very impressive to me so I think we have something here. We got very nice coats so hopefully put it together and stay undefeated talk to for to all right and the last one admission office This is a horse who you road last year but haven't been on them for the last four starts you get back aboard admission office and that is in the the shad while Turf Mile. Tell me about him. What you remember about writing him before is on very cool hope to ride very easy going on to be honest? I love him. I think we had a huge show the winds along really how come because I think he's is a nice source if their truck come from behind and here something other threats you about to rush these sorts. BEC- they're stretchy short here. I wouldn't have to we go. We got our loan stretching so I think it was the drug I mean he. He did alright at one eight zero. He don't good with Y'all yup so he's got big right now. You can tell what what makes Jose Jose Ortiz so good. He knows every race that these horses have run before he gets aboard and he did indeed win. Three starts back at Keeneland in the spring which Joel Rosario Dario Award winning an allowance race getting up by neck and admission office the Horses Jose will be aboard in today's Shell Turf Mile Jose. I know it's a busy morning. I know you've got horses assist works. I won't keep you thank you so much for spending a little time. Congrats on all your success. My friend and I'll look forward to catching up with us. We make our way to Santa Anita in about a month. Mike thank you.

Brad Cox Interview

"British idiom is you heard the call ridden by hobby or Castellano trained by Brad Cox who has been so good for so many years he is now trained one thousand two hundred eight winners in his career and that total includes those three victories that he had yesterday to Keelan one at Belmont Park but none none more special than that grade one Darlie Abe's win and Brad is with me now here on H. R. R. N. Brad Good Morning Congratulations. Thank you good good morning. How you guys doing things are good my friend. Dr You still kind of on a high after that big win. Absolutely they had several breezes this morning at your show just kind of wrapping things up yeah. That's that's a win. You definitely you know saver for a while. They're foreign feud between the great ones yeah. What's that light for a trainer when you show up to work. The next day is kind of like a victory lap around the race track where everybody's coming up and shaking your hand and congratulating you you know it's it's it's good. I mean you know it's it makes it easier to get up in the morning. I can tell you that when you you know just having good horses to look at watch them work watching breeze. He's checking the next day. F You know post race stuff like that so you know it's good horses which is get up every day and do this force. The you know have horses than move forward young horses Oaks Derby British Cup type horses what you're looking for so it definitely makes getting up a little easier. I promise you that yeah and you've been around so many good ones but certainly British. Idiom is looking being the part at this point in her career and let's remind people. This was only her second career start. She's now a perfect two for two after breaking her maiden at Saratoga back in the middle of August. It look back on that race from yesterday she she won very impressively very easily. Share your thoughts on the performance. I I mean it it. was you know to think he was going to go over and perform like that no way. I mean you know she. She just she just blew just spectacular performance and you know watching watching the race I mean broke with higher did a great job of keeping up in the race not necessarily on the League exactly what you like to see setting off a couple of horses a relatively you you know reasonable pace the backside. I think he was laying fourth and I looked at my sister and I said she's in a perfect spot. I mean she's got no excuse from here and then when she brings it up to the leaders eaters to three eighths. Kinda started looking at some of the horses behind us like I think she's got these in front of her when she's come up to fairly I think you can go buy these and then obviously I was kinda looking for perfect perfect alibi and szucs Philly and I saw so perfect alibi was kind of interesting you know if she responds when heavier ask this things over and she did and you know the only thing I told you can't tell the guy I don't give them any instructions at all jocks but the only thing I told him I said it's a short wire so don't don't you know short stretch. Yeah I wire so just when you turn for home ever position and he did just that she responded well. It was very very impressive race. Did you know this philly could be this good in this caliber when you first laid eyes on her no really well not when I first laid eyes on that yeah you have to go through several steps. You know obviously months and months of preparation to really get a line on we had this. Philly keeneland England then we moved into this summer and she was really stepping for stepping up and you know acting like she was a good horse we breeze brought her to Churchill with the intent of running her at Saratoga and Yep. We just left our church. I I can't remember exactly how it was about just her last work before she ran at Saratoga. was from the gate at Churchill she'll and thought you know this phillies going to be awfully tough at Saratoga auction race. We'd like to a lot so and you know come to find find out. It was like that morning. There was a buzz I was actually at Churchill today. She broke her maiden Air Togo but there was a little buzz kept hearing like you know they're stranded like horses turning like Susan. I like four or five of them in there and you know she. I think lots of times like you know I thought she would have been down a little more and she wasn't. I just think it was a you know a lot of people like horses in the race and the silly it was second obviously came back and broke her maiden. Belmont which was a positive You know just a couple of weeks ago so I uh I think it was even though it was restricted maiden race it was decent strong maiden races well so she received a big figure out of it to that. That was the one thing that Japan Academy Rag Number. You know a couple of days later and I thought you know she moves forward off that you know she's a she's a serious horse. She obviously did it. Just took us a while to get her back to the races we point for the Pocahontas and she the week before she breezed in the breeze was just okay and We've put a blood on her blood worker blitz count. Where's off a little bit so we just decided to skip the Pocahontas in point for talking with trainer Brag Cox Looking back on yesterday's big win in the grade. One DARLIE also vitek was British idiom. She is now punched her ticket to the Breeder's cup juvenile fillies which will be held at Santa Anita in Arcadia California about well one month from today. Hey we'll be breeders cup Saturday Brad. What do you do now over the next four weeks to make sure that she stays in peak form and she's ready to fire her best shot in the Breeders Cup. Well just you know as of right. Now you know I believe we have a plane scheduled to go out on Tuesday before so that's the twenty ninth we'll just go out then with whatever we have that's earn whatever earn their way to the Breeders Cup and you know just who works. I think you know nothing fancy. I mean you know she got a lot out of yesterday's yesterday's race being the second career start and you know just hoping she comes out of in good shape so far so good she scoped great. Last night looked good last night. Put her to bed and she looked at this morning. So you know Oh everything's positive with her will to this point and you know like I said we'll bring her back to Churchill worker twice and then off to California to before as long as everything goes well when you get an opportunity unity to maybe add a couple more grade wants to your resume later today you have Juliette Fox Trot going in the grade one first lady here at Keeneland and then you'll send out in the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic at Belmont Park. You'll send out arc low in there so let's start with Juliet Fox Trot. Tell me a little bit about her really Nice Philly. I mean it took a really tough being California. Last time we got was beaten by. I think the two thousand eighteen races and the silica so I mean I think right if the wires the only time she was in front on of us we got back in front of her past the wiring dot great really nice really think the world ever very very classy filly to deal with in just just real real nice philly that train them and just very straightforward. Does everything alleged WanNa see a horse do of the mornings and obviously the afternoons as well since she's been here in North America America and just amazing philly not real big. I mean she she's. She's a beautiful really beautiful. I- owner beautiful head up but it's not a big big philly typical. I think you know think cut back to a mile. I think is a I think she can do anything between a mile. Maybe even a mile and a quarter anything in there but I always like a horse that you know in a mile in eighth last time cutting back to the mile today. I think a positive that she drew well in the race. looks like on paper. There's speed I'm hoping she can kind of break settle kind of shut off a little bit going into the first turning up the backside and she does that she'll be. She'll be very very competitive today. I think a lot of this feeling. I think she she some you know. Hopefully can you know get some great one placing. Maybe hopefully a great one win and I think you know. I think the plan right now to raise their next year and I really think she's got had a big feature. You know it's interesting you talk about the mile and an eighth cutting back to a mile later on this afternoon and how much you like that move. I've heard other people talk about horses making that can't move to why can that be so successful. I guess it's just a fitness thing I mean I know. We've had the feeling training all year but it's a lot angles and racing that you know you. Can you know I. I sometimes like you know You don't even if a horse runs well on the dirt going to turf. It's almost like you trick them a little bit. You know it's it's and you know I. It just felt like you can have a little more confidence with your shortening horse up as opposed to stretching now now 'cause you know the further you go. I guess the unknown but you know she performed well at a model at Qinglin this spring so we know she can do it. She didn't really shut off and rate that well that day wish you would have you know relax a little more but it was a first start off a long layoff for a long time. I asked her to run a little bit earlier and she was just kind of on the go like I said from off burning fresh off the layoff but she she's moved forward and she responds to what the routers warrant They had three different jobs under this year. You know they've all got along with her. Well so I think for on obviously knows Schroeder twice before been able to get her. They're both times so hopefully like I said if she can get take a trip and relax a little bit early. She'll be tough yeah. You've had her for four starts now. In North America her first one as you alluded to is keen last April after she campaign in in her native Great Britain when you get a horse like that Brad that comes in from overseas.

Sid Fernando Talks The Yearling Market

"Good Morning Good Morning Steve Coming off two days to monia M- and and the yearling market that we basically recap keeneland last week come back here with the regional sale in the mid Atlantic Atlantic and a lot of New York Bred Maryland Bred I saw Virginia breads coming back through and Pennsylvania Breads Virginia and and Delaware certified survive pretty vibrant scene in the mid Atlantic and it's a great showcase who for the regional Italian you know from New York Maryland and obviously were on display modular for example one for nine thousand young Kinda warfront but you know if you just go to for the list Steve and imagining you know or that you wouldn't seem Kentucky you're GonNa see you know more in the in the sale lael banned you know quite Golden Lad ah central medallion bureau at northview of course the good styling in Maryland great notion yeah I it's really good to see this because it's talking about diversity. You know you get a chance to see surname. He normally wouldn't see which is great and some of these young some might have died or sold abroad. El Padrino died died at the next died. They you know you're you're you're able to catch of their offspring here and you know there was one notable several story lines in this sale that that always intrigued me at one of them will be we'll get to it. we're the PIN hookers said and we didn't really get a chance last week to talk about the keeneland decisions and some of the pin hook the objects of affection that particularly among the first crops. I've just a lot of times you can read tea leaves and some of the a pin hookers whose work you respect the most but one of one day I want to bring up in terms of activity and that was seagull Segal associates people and Tim Hills and Tim Hills has been winning raises a longtime longtime. He's in the process of having a really good year and has got a couple of Nice New York breads that you know that one over the summer and and they ended up knocking down the the sale topper which was an honor Code Colt the bill right ler presented a hundred and nine hundred thousand came back with the canned theros Colt from Indian creek for a hundred and thirty so one hundred ninety one hundred thirty and that was yesterday. I saw a bunch of others as well so here's the yet thousands yeah the trend and they were buying two year old. I think early this year too. I'm paying big money for you know relatively speaking so yeah really interesting I read the article about I'm not familiar with them but I think I think the purchase warranted thirty thirty thousand dollars two year old perhaps it oh be up through the it's. I'm drawn a blank on that on the New York bread that visit New York bread that Tim Hills and I'm going to have to go look for it. that is this is going to be is going to be notable here going into the the next round of of big apple showcase about every about every six expand weeks it saves for those that aren't aware and I just pulled it off because I was. I was curious myself. Tim Hills goes back to the beginning of the recording of of statistics by Equa base and if those aren't aware he's one two thousand and thirty one races Yeah Tim bills just reliably you you know two to three dozen winners a year and when he operated a bigger you know when he's a little younger rated a bigger stable and would win seventy five to one hundred races a year but he's been winning at a professional rate for his whole career is terrific terrific operation. Yeah I kind of remember him even when he was young coming up in New England Kennedy Hill you know it's out very was listed. I'll go back and refresh my memory but had some distinct think impressions have been back then McGee been around and you know anything about this entity he'd go capital at it well. He's he's been I mean that's that's his. That's his going concern forever. The one of the one of my favorites it's that he trained of course most recently Qarafa part of that that triumvirate of New York bred surfers that that it heads for years but he had bare named Toll Taker Bernstein Maher that would remember her. She was just terrific and that was that was I think the first you know Tim Hills Scott to be about got to be almost twenty years ago. I would think AH that I've sure Saratoga. Probably I latched on. You know who you know who would give me the back ground ground on on on Tim Hills would be John Pirata because John Because Tim had big New England big the New Jersey big another New Jersey base operation they so many that you you know the grew out of you know the colts neck ocean port corridor crank. They were very active. I it's they they were one of the big one of the big outfits that kept buying on a steady basis jason the two days when it comes to the when it comes to the pin hookers said Kerry frommer who I I never got a complete fleet count on what she bought at Keeneland but she was mighty active at this sale she was and uh I think she highs price which she bought a jumpstart for one hundred thirty s that was one of the day one I think yeah but and another one she bought the upstart for one hundred twenty now there's the first crop sire you you know and he was selling really well. We talked about him last week. Airdrie Stud you know they get that type worse and he's got a lot of cigarettes and a lot of people like them so he's one to keep an eye out for next year and you'll you'll see this for back a two year old

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair dies at 81

"Of Bob McNair, who of course, was the owner of the Houston Texans, and the owner of stone side stable campaign many horses under that banner for many many years you had a bit of a relationship with him back in the day. Just talk about bad for a minute. Well, Mr. McNair, you know, was just an absolute legend in the game. And he'll Bobby Spalding who was his longtime manager John Asher his racing manager. You know, those guys back when I was consigning and selling horses back before my my time, it it Spencer. They were nice enough to let me sell some horses. Foreign not only Keeneland, but we also sold some forces for them when they were kinda dispersing some of their stuff down in Texas as well. We took some stuff down there to the Texas year. Let sale and got a chance with John Asher to go down and go to Texans game and go down on the field before the game in just you know, Mr. McNair couldn't have been more gracious to us, and my brother-in-law was able to go with the we just had a fantastic time down there. And you know, I hate that. He got out of the racing game. And you know, we sold his farm and shake Mohammad came in and bonded. And then just instant off of a lot of the mating stuff that Bobby in the guys who've done out of the form, you know, they had Breeders Cup success. And you know, I know he wanted to focus, you know, on the Texans, and you know, what a great franchisees done there and exciting times for them. And but Mr. McNair, you know, he'll certainly be missed and in just a guy that gave a lot of his time and money to a lot of causes. Yeah. Well, said Marc toothache or
