Three Drink Minimum #6: Is Tyrell Williams the best WR in the NFL?

"Welcome back at the sewed six, three drink minimum podcasts and. Who buddy? How about that? A blowout victory for the charges. It doesn't feel like those happen a lot, but I think what we saw is the best of all worlds for the chargers. We saw where the special teams really doesn't have to do anything. And when that happens, they're good. We saw what the defense should be or what I think what the defense was expected to be coming into the season as far as being able to generate pressure when they're one on one looks being the secondary being able to make plays on the ball and getting off the field. And then we saw the offense humming along rivers, not having to do too much rivers making plays giving guys chance to make plays running game, getting going, getting everybody involved in analogy, tyrel Williams note no Mike, Mike Williams today, but still saw lot lot lot of good things and it was a nice team win. So let's. Go through it and I think we have to start with Thai whale Williams in the only way to start off this podcast. The only way that I know how to start off this podcast would be is Tyrone Williams, the best receiver in the NFL. So Tara had four targets. He caught three of those targets for one hundred eighteen yards. Two touchdowns. Somebody said this daring, the game to me where the like James today with games, like how tyrel play today is gonna make it so tough to hop off the bandwagon just because he can go so many games where he just doesn't do anything it doesn't make plays, doesn't do. This today happens where he shows off at speed man shows off that some of his traits are unlike almost any other rec- reunion fell. Just he is that fast. He is at big. He's actually very, very quick with the bond, his hands too. So we saw him extend something that Tiro has had issues with is with him being as big as possible. He still doesn't like go up and get it, but that wasn't a problem today. We saw them go up and get it twice in the one where he extended was something that you would think would be natural for him on the touchdown where there was an obvious. False star call. Of course they didn't catch. They can call it still if you don't want him to score Stockton, knock the ball, his hands that didn't happen. Scored a touchdown in those are the type of place that man, if you can just get not even every game once every couple of game at a time that would make that would just make his value of so much in. It would help this team largest because they can get these underneath routes with Keenan Mike Williams and gates. But oh man, it was a, it was a hell of a game by tyrel in obviously, those aren't going to happen for probably December, but who cares got they got the kind of production they needed in. I'm sure it'll just give him a really big boost confidence in moving forward. You know, hopefully he can roll over. He can give give the team another another performance like that, but it was good to see from KIRO. So hats off to him. He probably he probably gets the game ball, going back the offense as a whole. Yeah, I thought out of the blocks. I really thought they had a really good game plan. The first drive, it seemed like. When with getting Okuno back with getting Russell Kun back left tackle that they were just going to, hey, let's see how good he is. Let's let's remind you how good years and they just they were running behind him and it wasn't like the traditional running, right, right off tackle behind him. It some sweeps got him on the move a little bit. They ransom reverses jet sweeps his way, but the first drive manages marched right down the field, no hesitation that are no resistance. And it was really nice to see. So I was good to have Okuno back in. I think it's pretty clear that he makes a difference in. I know that miles Gary got the best of macabre times, but Myles Garrett is very good player as going to happen. But I think what's really important here is just there. They were able to get the ground game going. I carry when for sixteen yards next rushland for sixteen yards in that kind of a kind of stabbed the the ground game in charge really for the. The first time in would feels like forever. They were able to do whatever they wanted to on the ground. Not like, when's the last time? You can say that where the charges were able to basically run wherever with whoever run any direction have success a today was the first time in a decade. So since two thousand eight was the first time that the chargers had over two hundred forty rushing yards. Last two that was against the Broncos. That's just so silly managed to think about that toward that into perspective, that's how much success they had. So is this the best charges rushing team ever? Yeah, I think it sect to say that. SCO, getting back to Myles Garrett. He did give. He did give both tackles problems occur teddy and for a couple of drives there after the initial drive he, he was. He was probably the main reason that the charges got off the field. So they went three and out to, sorry, three and out three and out in the end they had another punt that was before belong heaved to tyrel in a lot of that was just because the pressure man Oakland was living in the backfield. The beat Oko wants to the outside. He be Sam tabby to the inside. I think you'd be Tevi again on the following drive of they, I, I like the idea of spreading out, so I'm not gonna get mad at that. I mean, you wanna get your best players on the field, but was with players like players gear. Those are going to happen. But I mean who they're, they're able to overcome their will figure it out the. Misdirection is really what slow that that pressure down because in that first quarter second, early second quarter. The Browns pressure was starting starting to to take over a little bit. But once the charge back misdirection, it was like seventh grade game almost wear popcorn. Again, you can call it. I guess where if you run a reverse, you are going to have success in. I've never seen a reverse or these jet sweeps work as often as did against the Browns. Just look like they had no clue what was going on. If the charges were gonna like sweet run a sweep to the right. The entire defense would run, right? So no backside for pseudo is easy to make that call. So they wisdom good job, recognizing it, they're not gonna stop it, man. Why go away from it, whether it was to kinen Mike Williams, whoever they had, they really, they basically took the Browns pressure out of the game by running those plays. And that's when the charges has got the ball rolling in were basically to do whatever they wanted to in in the first half in those couple. Three now plays in the weirdest in the most? I wouldn't say we're in the most charger way ever. The defense was bailing out the often. So the Browns had pretty good fill position on a lot of these plays are on a lot of these series or drive ago. Four plays out next drive. Seven plays point. Nine plays for fourteen yards. Seven plays for eighteen yards as they're in charge territory, replays on turnover on downs, so they got, they got stop after the Browns for field will and they had they gave up one scoring drive at the end of the quarter at the end of the half. So. Tax of success against the Browns who who have who have been able to move the ball, they've had some success, but there I think just getting back to what the going back to what I said initially, this is what they wanted the chargers defense to look like. It was really just guys winning their one on one battles. Everybody knows Melvin Ingram can win their one on one battle, his one on one battle, but so as show get after it a little bit today more so than ever. And I think the idea of not starting Rochelle, I mean, you don't wanna be cliche, say, fired him up, but I think work is kind of more is less sky or less is more. So he's not worn out. He get a chance to pincers back a little bit and that paid off. He had a believe yet to Sachs. I thought he had two sacks. He might have just had one, but Li got in their square got in there. I think during James Ray Sean Jenkins split sack as well. So they have four think force acts in the first half that was that just never never happens. Comparative as much pressure as the Browns were getting early on. They were still able to bring rivers down once. But the charges sacks, they legit to the Browns out of either going for it on fourth down or completely out of field goal range. So that was big deal and intern. The secondary was able to play a lot more aggressive with Baker Mayfield running around was headed off, not knowing what to do under pressure. He didn't look great, but we get to there in second. But I think just when with when the charge able to give pressure with four or five and they can still play zone behind it, we saw like. What Desmond kings values desert just so good at reading the quarterback and just knowing what the routes around him are going to be like underneath as underneath defender. He is very good. He's not not great man coverage, but we saw what he can be when he when he could just read the quarterback and sit on routes, the two interceptions broke up. Another pass. Ager Phillips got in the passing lane twice actually made some really good place. He broke up a couple of passes as well. A charge in a breaking five, five cuddle passes. Men have coupla interceptions as did. Yeah, I think I'm pretty sure he was the only one who who got interception, but they were there all over the place. They were able to get to Baker Mayfield all all day nine. I think it was nine quarterback. It's to go with. It might have been four quarterback. It's as well as five huddled Saxo. When did that kinda production. When you're in that you're in the backfield that much life is so much easier on recessionary in it's it was the first time in a long time that if felt that way, one of the changes that they made so square started at defensive end for Rochelle, that was a good change instead of putting in who no, I don't know what they're gonna. Do they put in new, oh, Soo at will that I mean, he played. I don't know how well he did. I, I remember seeing a manual in their more. Can't wait to check snap cans out a snap counts out. I remember seeing column in at inside linebacker as well. In, of course, when the Browns spread 'em out, we were seeing racial on Jenkins in there, which I really, really love. Hopefully that hopefully that can stay Jacobs actually had the second most tackles on on the. On game day had eight tackles, and he also got in there on a blitz with sack. I just think when they get those athletes in there and I say this all the time when they put all their athletes on the field, they are just so much better as a team that obviously, you know, commonsense says a play fast, but they really do play faster and they just they can get to spots where just the linebackers can't get to. That is common sense. But with with no threat of the run, that's why they were able to do that make plays. I mentioned like, so Phillips will be linebacker, and they try to get one of those ball crossing routes over the linebackers head, but Phillips fast enough to get debt. He can break that play up or a quick throw where Jenkins can break on it, whereas, you know, para might not get there. So I love seeing all those dues on the field running around with with four guys, rushing with four guys and another defensive back, rushing. Our house was good. It was. It was just a really good game by the fans, and hopefully, hopefully this leads to something where we can kind of move forward in get the athletes going up it. I do think it was another the loan loan dark spot team was Trevor Williams. He continues to just not look like he did last year. He looks more like rookie year. Trevor Williams, not second year. Trevor Williams, that's problem because rookie year Trevor Williams was not a good player in this year. He has been getting beats. I wish I had the target numbers yesterday, but I do remember him giving up some some a couple of big plays and they lead to mean they were direct correlation to lead into points. But I think the good news is the chargers are aware and they are actually subbing him with Michael Davis. Number forty, three. So you're seeing Michael Davis on the field. That's why. Sometimes Davis on the field with everybody else, which is cool. But then other times they have Davis on the field in place. Trevor Williams and he gave a couple of crashes too, but he is, I guess, Davis's quote, unquote upside is is a good tackler. So he's gonna limit after the catch. Whereas a Williams just a really good athlete and he can run with gossip. He has speed to run with an Antonio Calloway, but he's just given up way too much separation underneath and him in. That's. He just hasn't been able to stick to receive this. Really. It is really tough to to play at a consistently high level at corner corners. This is probably one of the harder positions league. That's why, like for Patrick Peterson or like a Richard Sherman for all those years, it's so impressive because it's so rare to happen like that. Not. There's not really much to complain about. At once once every game, the offense just gets way too cute. I feel like I don't know if they want to if it's their way of getting Allen involved, but did it again where split out rivers, wide earth. Rivers throws the quick screen eighteen in Canaan, throws it back to rivers, resent catch the ball. If have you seen rivers in space or seen rivers move? Of course he's not gonna catch the ball. So that was a disaster. I think they go from like third short, second short, like third in twenty to come on man. There's there's no reason for that. They were. They're moving the ball right along in usually you bus. Those trick plays out either in like a sudden change or after after you get a turnover, they were marching that had like two or three really good plays in a row, and then they decided to run trick play. I think wiz has a very, I think was very good at calling screens. Like when the defense lease expects it, I think he is not very good. At knowing when to run his trick plays in history plays are have just, let's scrap those. There's no, there's no reason for it. Getting back to the defense to Baker Mayfield. I don't know. Man, I think we, we first talked about the Browns. I thought that you know the essentially he was gonna come back down to earth. He wasn't gonna play like he did against the jets. It was going to probably wasn't gonna play against the raiders just because the raiders other raiders he finished a lot of those sacks. Honestly today were on him just because in my opinion, he was just holding offer way way too long. And you can blame that on the coverage. Certainly because he wasn't receivers a couple of stop receivers, but I use twenty two for forty. Six, not great. He only had two hundred thirty eight yards. Two interceptions both of those. Both of those interceptions to me anyway, where we'll tell the second or jumping, you just can't stare down a receiver in the NFL that just can't happen. The other one here's rolling around that kind of showed show you. A little bit about his lack of arm strength, and I always thought his accuracy is overrated people think just because you have high completion percentage that you're accurate. Passer, not so much the other. The other big critique I had with faker back in college anyways was he was not a good third down quarterback. Oklahoma was not down team in that that tends to carry over. I think we saw that today. Cleveland was six for sixteen on third downs, and they had some opportunities put some points on the board, but a beggar could make a play man, so a to the charge defense. But I think we saw some limitations Baker today. I mean, if you guys are fans knew probably get a little upset about that, but hey, it it happens. As getting back to San with defense here a run defense to really good job. They had shoved had a long run. Do Johnson had one long run, but I mean outside of that held the running backs to ninety five yards, I believe. So that was a big deal to make to make bayford to keep Baker one dimensional big, Carl tied starting running back who got the bulk of the carries finished with fourteen carries for thirty four yards. That's a big man if the charges. So most teamed aren't gonna be patient enough to run the ball down your throat. So the charge your plan light like that if they can get stops. In may teams one-dimensional, be able to know pin their ears back in play, play coverage, big deal. That's gonna help in the long run a lot in, I think with these a this heavy front that they're moving to. So with Damian square who has actually who came over to charge as like a essentially, those tackle to for him to be able to hold his granite, a defensive in that's helping quite a bit in getting Legia bag. So square Leauge it in obviously, Ingram's gonna make some place in Bill Bennett in the middle with all the speed behind them closing. That's that helps a bit. It's good. It is good to see. So job is all around by the defense in. I mean, Baker made Baker did not do them any favors. I thought under pressure whenever color, like whenever the charges flash, their color, his is just dropped. And he was just a completely different quarterback. At for some reason. I don't know if I know he did slip when he's running at bows in on his that limp kept up the entire the entire game, but it'll right man. He didn't look good, but he didn't look right. I will say though what the main takeaway that I just had on defense was they were just faster than the Browns. So whatever they wanted to do, they could if they, they could beat the Browns receivers to spot. They could beat the running backs to the spy, be the offense lineman to the spot, and it really showed. So for the first time all year, I would say impressed by defense. That would be my main takeaway offensively. I mean, guys just made plays Melvin. Gordon was running his ass off. He, he broke so many tackles. He looked really, really good. He he averaged at one point in the third quarter, the the charges were averaging like nine yards of pot on the ground. That's just ridiculous. And even. As the game was going on, they were still up there. They finished with six point, eight yards carry, which is still really freaking good. So Melvin win eighteen for one thirty to seven yards. A carry three touchdowns equa had seven carries sixty yards. Canaan kinen would have had more rushing yards than any of the Browns. He had four cares for forty one yards. Mike Williams that one carry where he went ten yards like like we said, they were able to do whatever they wanted to. So it was it was a dominant win in. That's what you need. That's what that's kind of that's kind of performances that you that good teams may. So it was good in. It's it's getting closer and closer for us to be able to call them good team. We will see next week, so they're gonna have to take care of the titans. Titans are. I don't think the titans are very good. I didn't think that were coming into this game and they just got completely shut down by the ravens today. So we will. Men, three in a row should be four in a row. If they take care of the titans. On the much left to talk about just because the charges played a team who the Browns were thought of to be very, very good. Most power had the Browns as top ten unit. So for them to basically basically shut them down for Noah, Reyna ways that's big deal and they're able to not, you know, not just do it one way. They had things going on the ground with Gordon. They had things going through the air. They shut them down, they're able to get sacks turnovers like this. This is a brand of football that the charges are going to like they can play this type of style every chance to go a long way, but as good to get come back on Guinea as the season goes long, it's gonna be interesting to see once they start getting these other guys back how how they improve. If they can keep getting better, we're gonna have to. Eventually they're gonna run into the chiefs in the patriots when these good teams or even the Bengals down the line, they're solid. So. Very good team win, not much else to say just because it was a blow out and that's what you want to do as a good team. You wanna blow somebody out. So I'm Goodwin man. We will hopefully this time next week we will be doing it again celebrating a fourth victory in a row. Thanks for tuning. Go team, go charter. My name is Spencer home by name is Jason Kirk. Score More #15: Three blockbuster trades for Melvin Gordon

"<music> rivers give angling lift and the blame should have been ruled a fumble Antonio Gates one hundred twelve th career touchdown catches the most by the N._F._l.. Tied all time would have figured it out. I just like to play football. This is score more with Garrett system. We are back if the score more podcasts ask welcome back all you score morons and it's an exciting show today because let's talk about trades. Most of you know. Melman Gordon is in store for a whole is aging came out. This week said he might hold out the season if he's not giving a new contract you'll ask for trade a lot of drama going on and I think that it is worth exploring some blockbuster trades now. Some trades would be nice but I WANNA go big. I want to talk about some blockbuster. stor trades like remember winless. Shawn McCoy was traded for Kiko Alonzo. You remember how big of a deal that was. Let's talk about some player trades because honestly we're talking about picks. I mean that's not that exciting but recently bleacher report came out with an article talking about the best possible landing spots in terms of the trae from L. Gordon and the highest pick they gave from L.. Gordon was a second round pick and that seems low to me. I know that running backs aren't that much of a commodity anymore more for Melvin Gordon as a pro bowl or even with his injury history. He's a pro bowl running back. He taught five running back in the N._F._l.. Can easily make that argument easily so that's definitely valuable to some team. I think the chargers can get a first round pick from Gordon but also that's not very exciting to talk about. Let's talk about some player trades. You know a first rounder to the Houston Texans Great. You know that that makes a ton of sense in the chargers give value but let's talk about some player traits. This is not talking about. You know whether Moma Gordon deserves the contract because honestly he does. I think a lot of people are missing the boat on that. Everybody's completely turned on Melvin Gordon which is crazy and I guess that's just fan of you know <hes> either be with my team or don't you know but Mellon Gordon deserves a contract. He deserves to be one of the highest paid running backs in the N._F._l.. He deserves to be up there with the Todd Gurley and the David Johnson's and lady on bells he's hitting the prime of his career and as a player he deserves that so far everybody's saying that he's selfish that he's holding out and you know you could question the timing of the hold out and everything but if it's about money you're crazy because as a player he deserves that that the problem is teams are notoriously snake bitten by running backs on their second contracts. The evidence is out there once you give a running back a second contract after the rookie contract the production goes goes down hill and fast and it's also been proven that you can replicate players production with other players. The steelers were able to get just as much yardage out of James Connor last year without lady on Bell. That's happening all around the league star running backs go down with an injury and somebody else steps up chiefs. Were able to get some yardage on the ground with cream hunt gone. You know it's happening everywhere so no you can't get another Melman Gordon and obviously there isn't another Melvin Gordon on the chargers roster right now but look ban the dude deserves his money all go more into it on the lightning round podcast but I just want to get straight into trades and everybody that listened to last podcasts. I appreciate you tuning into that and asking you a bunch of follow up questions and all that I'll get to it next time but let's just talk about trades no bullshit. Let's just get straight into it. Okay so I've got three blockbuster trades that came to mind nine that would make a ton of sense for both teams not saying they will happen and you might go that will never happen. That's dumb. Teams will never trade for them fine but I'm gonNA give you reasons why it makes sense for both teams. I'm not just going to throw scenarios Orios out there because there was a scenario where the chargers should trade with the Texans Vegetarian clowney which is great in theory because he's a great player but the chargers have one of the best pass rushing duos in the N._F._l.. What do they need to add another end for behind? Behind Ingram and Bosa where does he fit. It's fun to kick Melvin Ingram inside. It's fun have Joey Bosa play three tech from time to time but they can't hold up there for a full season. Entertainment clouding isn't getting kicked in either and with his injury injury history you know none of that really makes sense. It makes sense on paper but then when you look at the chargers roster it makes a ton of sense for the Texans they need a running back that makes sense to get Melman Gordon but it doesn't make sense for the charge to get cloudy so I'm GonNa make sense all this and give you arguments for both sides on why they should make these traits so and this is going to be player straight up. I'll probably add some picks and all that but let's just make it clean. I'M GONNA just go player to player and then for another one off to throw in picks just because it's one sided but let's go ahead and start so here's your first trade the first trade and he's a blockbuster trades okay. These are names. You will recognize for sure. I'm not going for bench players. I'M GONNA go on for multiple role players. These are high end starters. Okay charters gotta get something in return so the first one little crazy charge gonNA have to do some shuffling but how about the chargers trae Melvin Alvin Gordon to the Washington redskins for their franchise left tackle Trent Williams Trent Williams held out the mandatory minicamp. He did not show up he wanted a new contract and also according to Jason Lockenfora <hes> it has nothing to do with money has everything with the franchise and he just does not want to play for the redskins anymore. Trim Williams is the N._F._L.'s best left tackle in my opinion definitely top five and it would absolutely help out the chargers now now in terms of the redskins running back group. You know they have some odd J.. P. Rhine and Darius guys was the guy they drafted to be. They're BELCO back. He was injured all of two thousand eighteen this year. He's got a hamstring injury that he says you don't have to worry about but the teams obviously cautious so it makes a ton of sense to have a running back stable of Somalia p Rhine as your third back getting you know maybe five to seven touches a game and mix dairy guys and Melvin Gordon as you're running back group. They just drafted Duane Haskins to be their quarterback so they've got a rookie quarterback and they need to develop some yards because they're wide receivers are trash. You know they've got Vernon. Davis and Jordan Reed at tight end which is great on paper but you know when you have a group of Josh Dotson Terry maclaurin who they just drafted and Paul Richardson as your three wide receivers they also got Kelvin harmon but he's more of a fourth worth wide receiver at the moment to have a group of Dotson maclaurin Richardson it really help out that offense to have a running back also catch out of the backfield. A manufacturer yards also gotten much better in pass protection throughout his career. Mama Gordon has so could you'd help out Dwayne Haskins in his rookie year and you know there's no better confidence booster for a rookie quarterback than when a running back and get yards all he has to do is handed off and give him second and third and short and Melvin Gordon can do that so this. This makes a lot of sense for the redskins again. They drafted Darius guys to be their franchise back but was injured in eighteen now this year. He's a little banged up. You don't know what you have in him quite yet and it wouldn't hurt to have to premier ear running backs with Melville. Gordon embarrassed guys so for the chargers you know a little weird because they've already got Russell Kun but Russell Kun has his phantom injury while I don't want to call it a phantom injury but he's got this weird injury that nobody can really get a grasp on Anthony. Lynn doesn't know how long he's going to be out. Nobody knows the specifics of it. Nobody knows how it happened. It just happened. It's there and they don't know how long it's GonNa go so at least for this currencies until the nineteen in having a guy like Trent Williams manning your blindside would help Philip rivers out a lot now if Russell Kun is good to go which is obvious the obvious question. You know what happens when Russell Kun back what if he's healthy for week one I think Heathrow in right tackle. I don't think there's really an argument to have Russell. Kun Play left tackle when you've got the best left tackle football on your roster and you know obviously complain out of position is an ideal but you gotTa Help Philip Rivers out and if you can switch a Trent Williams on left side and put Russell Kun right side even with Russell Kun struggling for position he hasn't really played most of his career is better than what they would get out of Sam Tevi period and I know they want to develop savvy and I know they like him heavy. But how do you say no to treat Williams and this is a short term option too. I mean Trent Williams has thirty one. The redskins are obviously at an impasse with trump williams. They're not giving him a new contract or at least having offered him one yet and. He wants out of Washington according to report so at least get something for him much like the chargers at least get something for them and not be like the steelers and have them hold out and then lose lady on Bell for nothing when they could have got something for for him so for the redskins listen he's thirty one. We gotTA move on anyway. Let's go ahead and start that transition and they've got a pretty good offensive line but they're going to be in trouble at tackle. You know there's no way to fix <music> Trent Williams. You have the best in the game. You know you're obviously going to have a dip in production left tackle but you sometimes you got to expedite that process and the redskins can here and he's going to be thirty one so as Russell Kun so short term option and you know Russell coons only signed till twenty twenty so it's not like they have a coon locked up forever. He's only got one more year on his deal after the season so you know you can try the experiment if it doesn't work. He's an easy cut to you know you only lose two point five million dollars and you save about thirteen point five so I'm not saying cutting Russell Kun as the option because it's not but if you bring Trent Williams in and you have Russell Kun switch over to right tackle I mean I don't think it could hurt the offensive line. I think it makes it so much better and why not resign Trent Williams two two two three years. Whatever your window you think is for Philip rivers which will see when they re sign a contract with them? The charters have a two year window Oh to win a super bowl rivers or a three year window depending on what they say why not get him some help and make sure that he has his best options on the field and he has his best chance to win and rivers can win if he's got some protection Trent Williams will absolutely help that no doubt about it because he's the best tackle in the game. Redskins won't have to deal with the contract negotiations. We'll get something forum. The charges will get something for Melvin Gordon. It's a straight up trae because both teams will have to give the new new player new contracts so I don't think you have to throw in picks or anything like that. If you had to I mean a late day three pit could make sense to throw to the Redskins for the charges to make that deal work but getting a guy like trump Williams would help this team tremendously you get Trent Williams uh-huh will also help out your right side which was a big weakness. I mean you're you're upgrading your left tackle ready which Okuno already a pro bowl tackle but Trent Williams is so much better and then you go over to the right side you put a coup over there and things work out your great on the edges so <hes> the first trade melborn for Trent Williams makes sense for both sides. I knew definitely upgrade both rosters all right this next trade is an obvious one and a lot of people have suggested this trade I think they're suggesting it for the wrong. Reasons ends and making a bunch of sense for it but I will go ahead and make sense of it all and I just WanNa throw the Trent Williams trade out first because that's a little weird because there's a lot of movement for the chargers but the next to easy drag and drop starters India roster. They fit perfectly perfectly so next one again an obvious one is the chargers Trade Melvin Gordon to the Jacksonville Jaguars and yes the charges get back Jalen Ramsey now to make this trait work. I think is a little lopsided headed for the Jaguars so I think the charge would have to throw in a pick and I wouldn't go any higher than a third round pick. That's a little rich but if you gotta get a third round pick out there to get the best corner and Football Jalen Ramsey you do it man. Go throw third round pick which by the way Tom Moscow has been tortuously bad with his third round picks with guys that are not named Keenan Allen so he won't have to make that mistake in two thousand twenty they give pick so Jalen Ramsey and a third round pick for Melvin Gordon now for the Jaguars. They're in trouble financially especially after giving the contract they did a nick foles in the off season not only this season but next season so they're going to be strapped for cash in order to make a deal work they'd have to move things around and as you heard from Jalen Ramsey he wants it all and it's going to be hard for the Jaguars to make that work. I'm sure the Jacksonville would like to keep Jalen Ramsey of course but others a couple of things working against him first off. They made a pretty big splash in two thousand seventeen seventy J boo which was a great signing for them because he's been really good. They signed him to a five year sixty seven point five million dollar deal. He's the eighth highest paid corner in the N._F._l.. So they've got a lot of money already allocated corners do they want to have that much cash wrapped up in two cornerbacks when they could allocate it to other positions because you know as a few years ago they went all in and not just signing A._J.. Buoy but signing nor well the offensive Lineman last off season getting guys like Marcel Daria some leak Jackson. They've spent a lot of money in free agency and it's going to be hard for them to not only pay A._J.. Boo But then give Jalen Ramsey a big deal as well and he's going to get paid. A lot more than sixty seven point five million dollars. The dolphins just made xavien Howard the highest paid corner. It's five years seventy five point two five million. That's more in the Ballpark for Jalen Ramsey entering his prime being the best at the position so I don't think they're going to wrap up that much cash in two players at the same position at corner in Boolean Ramsey at running back of course they've got Leonard Fournette they ended up signing guys like Alfred Blue and Thomas Rawles to add behind for net so not a great running backs table and let her for net has been hit or miss throughout his career not averaging more than three point nine yards per attempt so hasn't been great to start his career and to be honest if they want a more dynamic running back Melvin Gordon can give it to him. Leonard Fournette can drop back to rb to and maybe he's better with a smaller workload but had a pretty good rookie year and then his second season not so much and much like the Washington redskins. The Jaguars are in trouble at wide receiver as well. It'd be nice to get nick folsom help but Keelan Coal Marquee slee Dede Westbrook not really those guys they signed Tiro prior to have Chris Conley but that's a tough wide receiver group. I'm not drafting any of them fantasy to be honest with you but they need help and so to get that offense going while the defense is pretty good. I mean they still got clay. Campbell will and miles. Jack was great last year. Janaka Gakugei is good with guys like adding Rodney Harrison and having Jalen Ramsey A._J.. They've got some talent on the defensive side but they got a score some points so they need a guy like Mama Gordon and it makes a ton China's sense so the chargers could get Melman Gordon also get a pick for twenty twenty or whatever your they want at highest third round pick but they can get a pick not have to worry about Jalen Ramsey as a free agent and the fifth year option and having the hold out and all that stuff that comes with it like the chargers they get something for a player that was on their way out anyway so the chargers get Jalen Ramsey now of course everybody's talking about how Jalen Ramsey wants to play with Derwin James again that's great great you know <hes> being Florida state kid that makes a ton of sense and they've talked about it a lot but that doesn't really correlate players WanNa play with other players all the time but that doesn't mean they go to that team would make a ton of sense for Jalen Ramsey and the chargers for Jalen Ramsey. He's now back in the playoff hunt. I mean now real super bowl contenders and with a competitor like Jalen Ramsey is not going to take long for him to Kinda circle the drain there in Jacksonville to get fed up and want to get out of there with the chargers. He's already thrust into one of the best defense in the N._F._l.. gets to play with his buddy derwin James and for the chargers you've got Casey Hayward on one side who two years ago was one of the best corners league and then you've got the other guy that everybody was arguing. Who's better on the other side Jalen Ramsey busy so you've got Ramsey and hayward who were the two best corners in two thousand Seventeen Jalen Ramsey still very good eighteen keyword took a step back and it makes sense for the chargers and to be honest it would make sense to give him the deal he wants because Casey Hayward's twenty nine he signed till twenty twenty one the chargers have an easy out for the next two years and twenty twenty twenty twenty one and you're basically saying Jalen Ramsey is going to be the heir apparent when Casey Hayward no longer can go or it just doesn't work with a team Jalen Ramsey becomes your cornerback one and then you worry about cornerback to later I know the chargers are very high on guys like Michael Davidson Trevor Williams but that's great depth to have as your quarterback three? If an injury happens happens to either Ramsey or hayward so it would make sense to add a guy like Ramsey makes your defense so much better I mean yeah that's a lot of money in the chargers are going to have a lot of people to pay but you can't argue with trying to get Jalen Ramsey at what he's worth and and he's one of the best corners in the leagues were given the contract to make sense then got a button up a guy like Bosa so rather than paying Melman Gordon Thirteen to fourteen million like he wants WanNa pay a corner for fifteen. It's a better position you get a lot back on your return and you're getting one of the best players in the game. I don't think you can make an argument that Mama Gordon's the best running back in the N._F._l.. Because he's not beacon certainly say the Jalen Ramsey is the best at his position deserves to get paid. A lot of guys are GONNA have to get paid after that and you got to probably make some moves and make some hard decisions but if you're signing a guy like Jalen Ramsey your defense becomes damn near unstoppable to be honest with you barring injuries. There's no reason why that defense couldn't be the best in the N._F._l.. In jalen Ramsey is a hell of a talent and have him and Derwin together would just be incredible so getting a guy like Jane Them Ramsey would make sense for the chargers. Obviously <hes> having Trevor Williams Michael Davis take a step back hurts because you'd like to see how they do. And see them develop but you just get better across the board with Jalen Ramsey so trading jalen Ramsey to the chargers for Mel Gordon and a we'll call it a third round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars so honestly this is the dream scenario Jalen Jalen Ramsey for Melvin Gordon make sense for both sides Jalen Ramsey for Melvin Gordon would be great. You'RE GONNA have to throw in a pick. You might have to throw in pick for all these traits but you know if you've got to throw in some filler I it makes sense but just to keep it clean on his podcast. I'll just kind of making it playoff player but why not man jalen Ramsey on the chargers everybody those arguing Joey Bosa Jalen Ramsey or deforest buckner what if the charges got Ramsey and Bosa that'd be crazy so the first one Trent Williams from Alma Gordon Second One Mellon Gordon for Jalen Ramsey in a third round pick hi. I'm avery trump woman and I'm the host of Nice. Try A podcast about utopia a place that is perfect and does not exist this season were traveling across time and space to explore seven different attempts to design a better world. What happens when those designs don't go according to plan from Jamestown the first permanent English settlement in North America and Levittown a series of suburban developments built in the nineteen fifties to shun Gar a modernist Indian city? That's also responsible for the chairs and Courtney Kardashians dining room and biosphere to an early nineties experiment that sought to create a completely enclosed self sustaining ecosystem and yeah some of them worked out better than others but they're all fascinating. Thank listen and subscribe to Nice try today on Apple podcasts or in your favorite podcast APP from curbed and the Vox media podcast network so this next one is a little out of the box but what I like it and I know you'll like it too so the chargers Trade Melvin Gordon to the Cincinnati Bengals for wide receiver a j green yeah a man so for the bank. I just love this. I love this so for the bengals. They have Tyler Boyd who was their leading wide receiver last year A._J.. Green was out for seven games. I think he played nine last year but tyler boyd broke a thousand yards last year so clear guy that stepped up when they needed them and can be a low end wide receiver one for the Bengals A._J.. Greens entering his last year of his contract trekkies of Free Agent Twenty Twenty <hes> saying that he wants money and it's a new regime in Cincinnati so they might not be as tied to A._J.. Green as the previous regime but probably still unlikely a franchise player a guy that the bengals love but a scenario that would make sense because a wide receiver that's entering thirty two next year. Cincinnati might not be inclined to offer him that kind of money for for whatever he's looking for especially when they have a new young wide receiver that's doing pretty good so while there might be some love because he's the franchise player in the face of the franchise for a very long time and maybe their best wide receiver of all time time at least in my lifetime being the best bengals wide receiver I've ever seen they might not want to trade him but it would make sense to get something for him now rather than you know let him hit the market and leave as a free agent in two thousand twenty. Now I get it. It makes less sense for the bengals because you know fancy you know like I mentioned face the franchise one of their best receivers of all time but also they've got Joe Nixon who is really really impressive last year over eleven hundred yards on the ground Giovani Bernard has been a dud so far throughout his career and they drafted Trayvon Williams and they also got Rodney Anderson. If I'm not mistaken so they've got some running backs but it is hard to imagine a team like the bengals angles not wanting to superior running backs now if you're asking me if they would wanna pay for one I that who knows but for this hypothetical situation having Joe Mixing a Melvin Gordon The backfield would be very very very good for a team like Cincinnati and then rather paying a over the hill as you could say wide receiver who's over thirty rather than paying him going into next season. Why not pay a running back heading into his prime which I wouldn't do but they're definitely teams that would do it and crazier things have happened? Odell Beckham Junior was just traded in the offseason that made no sense and then you saw Antonio Brown go so teams are willing to pay these players. Ears crazier. Things have happened but it's possible maybe unlikely but definitely a entertaining topic to talk about because A._J.. Green to the chargers you'd basically be able to enter switch. Everybody a big weakness for the chargers. They're wide receiver three Travis Benjamin or maybe Arteta Scott or maybe Jeremy Davis or maybe Dylan Cantrell but either way. It's not good enough. It could be better so why not upgrade it have a wide receiver group of A._J.. Green Mike Williams and Keenan Allen. If you were talking about again like I mentioned with Trent Williams a two to three maybe four year window left with Philip rivers as the quarterback why not go all in and get them as much help as possible if you don't have a running back in the backfield like Melvin Gordon why not get better in a pass happy league and add another pro bowl caliber potential hall of Famer Definite Hall of Famer in A._J.. Green Green on the other side of Keenan Mike Williams and you're asking who's GonNa play in the slot anybody any player line up in the slot. Their Keenan Allen probably will get more slot snaps than anybody else but A._J.. Green being able to stretch the field or another red zone weapon somewhere where the chargers have struggled Mike Williams also another red zone weapon showed that last year Keenan Allen still getting work on short yardage situations I mean it's all great so adding A._J.. Green and being able to pay him for two or three years but it makes sense if you're going all in with Philip rivers and a short window and I'm not saying all in like they gotta go up against the cap or anything but for the next two or three years they might be a little strapped because they wanted to bring a guy like Jalen Ramsey and a guy like Williams A._j.. Green if you've got to do that to help your chances you've got to do it because in all honesty and this is a different topic altogether Thompson. Let's go isn't like that. It is building holding the team getting younger and better improving through the draft. Maybe picking off a player to a free agency but not really we're not seeing trades except early on in his G._M.. Tenure when he was trading leading up for guys like Melvin Gordon and maintain show in Jeremiah Tau Chew during the draft but you weren't seeing like in season trades there was that trade for Jeremy Service but that was like way down the line and that was for a day three conditional pick. I think it was a six round round conditional pick maybe seventh but that was nothing player they're going to cut and they got a late draft. Pick for them and the vikings were able to give something up for him but he's not going all in. If there's one thing you can criticize Thom Tillis go for is he's not making the big moves. He didn't trade up to get Derwin James. James fell to him. You know you didn't trade up to get Joey Bosa. They had the third pick they had the choice of Joey Bosa. Yes he hits on a lot of day three picks great but at some point when do you start right to stack the chips and say I gotta go all in because Philip rivers is not getting any younger and making any of these traits would make sense to help Philip rivers or help your team protects US blindsided Trent Williams get better on defense in DB with Jalen Ramsey in a pass happy league no less I mean if your offense is GonNa take a dip was Melman Gordon gone and trading him. Make sure team can't score on you and pick up a guy like jalen Ramsey or help out the offense on the outside signed wide receivers and pick up a guy like J. Green put them on the outside and get more yards through the air than on the ground so those are my three trades Trent Williams Jalen Ramsey A._j.. Green chargers get better. They don't have to pay Melman Gordon the money that quite frankly he deserves but because he plays the wrong position the N._F._l.. He's not GonNa get it while he might get it but probably not for the chargers so those are my trades three blockbuster trades. This has been great. Thank you everybody appreciate you guys listening. Let me know who you'd pick. which trae would you like? I'll probably put a poll up in the article. <hes> don't say the trades because I don't want to spoil anybody but we'll call Trent Williams trae jalen Ramsey trade be A._J.. Green Trade. Let's see which one do you like best. Okay thank you. Everybody appreciate you all. Don't forget to follow ask or more pod. Let's just hope the charter score more on Sunday. NFL Draft, Drawing a Blank, Cam to the Chargers?, Stories to Start Your Morning

"I as I is sponsored by Ram trucks. Ill deserve good morning. Everyone and welcome to first things. First some Jenna Wolfe alongside right heaven. Wild Greg Jennings is with us on a Wednesday morning. We got a great show for you today. Hey guess what Brady gave up to get number twelve and Tampa Bay. I'll give you a hand. You can definitely afford it. Nick made it onto a very prestigious list yesterday. Wiki here what? That's all about and are the Miami Dolphins suddenly on the move. That's kick things off this morning with a little. Nfl draft drama. And this is what's all about. Recent report has the Miami Dolphins considering trading off from the fifth. Pick to the number one overall spot to grab heisman winning. Lsu quarterback Joe Borough or three first round picks. Miami certainly has the capital to do it but next is it a good idea for the dolphins. I don't think it'd be a good idea at all. I want to spend my time this abusing the nation. If if I may of something that I think is a misconception. And that is the actual value of the first overall pick in the NFL this is not the NBA. We're the single best thing you can win a championship and the next best thing you can win is the draft lottery per chance draft. Lebron or or Anthony Davis Sir. Derrick rose or go up and down the list of the MVP's our future and BP's they've been the number one pick the number on the NFL draft since peyton manning win number one overall has been more than a mixed bag. It's been downright disappointing. Look at this. That's all your number. One overall picks post Peyton. That aren't on the rookie. Deal still alive won championships. Put Him at the top. The next best group of guys are those three quarterbacks and think about this cam people are done with these only thirty years. Old Andrew Luck played eighty six. Nfl GAMES AND STAFFORD. Never won a playoff game. And that next best after Eli Jake. Long made a few pro bowls but didn't make it out of his rookie contract in Miami before he moved on to three other teams. Clowney didn't make it out of his rookie contract with the Texans. Mario Williamson make it out of his rookie contract with the Texans or make to their second contract. I should say and Eric Fisher has been a solid if unspectacular player and then look at the next year Mike Vick had his highest. Nfl moments with his second team. Alex Smith had his highest. Nfl moments with his second team. Carson Palmer had his best. Nfl moments with his third team. Jared Goff we'll see Jameis Winston didn't make it to a second contract. Sam Bradford didn't make with second contract with the team that drafted him and injuries riddled his entire career. And then you have the outright busts on the bottom left no one that is from peyton manning up until the most myles Garrett cuyler Murray and Baker Mayfield like this is your list Kevin Wild so not only would I not be super excited about having the number one overall pick but Kevin and find Miami. I certainly wouldn't be trading a bunch of assets. The number one overall pick. Yeah I was shocked to hear the story. I think the other little tidbit here is I. Guess we don't. I guess Miami doesn't like to a if they can grab two at five. Why Trading? Everybody for Joe Borough so I'm going to take it back to you nick. Where do you see burrow into a on this pyramid if you had to project out? Let's say five years yes so. I'm a huge believer in two and so if anyone was going to join me. Lie on the unquestioned. Right pick star player. It would be him and I see borough on that Tier Right beneath a matt. Stafford ish like nobody's mad. Matt Stafford's their quarterback but your but it's Detroit obviously has hurt him a bit but it's like oh I mean he was good but not over. Not The guy that you can say. This is my franchise quarterback. I hope I haven't for fifteen years and I believe I'm going to win championships. So Jenna I just think people talk about tanking in the NFL and they talk about getting the number one pick and all. I wish we would have lost that game. Which of these teams ended up? After you know with the benefit of hindsight saying Damn we nailed that. I don't know that any of them feel that way. Except for the giants who by the way the giants it should be noted the fourth big trade into that number one spot. Because he didn't want to go to the chargers. Jenner. But Greg it's hard to justify mortgage in your future when you're more than just one piece away which it seems. That's what Miami seems to be doing. What do you think about that and Knicks larger than Life Tier? And where he has everybody placed will. I'll I'll address The dolphins I and when it comes to them Contemplating moving up to number one. Big whatever the case may be. I'm with Nick. I don't think they should do it. Because they have so many valuable picks and they have so many assets Just DRAFT PICK ASSETS. That teams would love to have but they need in. What when you look at what they've done this off season. They've done a phenomenal job. Just making sure that they address necessary needs and now they have an opportunity to Get who they want at the position that they already currently hold at the number five overall pick in Kevin to address your point about. Maybe they're not as high on tour. I completely disagree. I think that the reason that they would even consider trying to move up to number. One is because of all of the the knowledge that we're starting to get information about to being healthy and being cleared to one hundred percent be involved in all activities in his hip is not becoming an issue. I think that is concerning to them. To almost WANNA believe that there may be one of these other teams. That WANNA go and grab to right away so I don't even want to give them that opportunity so with that. I could understand why you would go all in on the player who you believe will completely turn around your franchise and be that heir apparent to Dan Marino. Because they have not had a quarterback a quarterback be anywhere. Close Chad Pennington was was probably the next best quarterback in Miami since Dan Marino. And so when you have this opportunity you gotta take it. But I don't think they should as far as Knicks pyramid. Michael Big Man. You GotTa Have Big Higher Man. I he with some of the guys. You gotTA solid players. Big is definitely a solid if not higher player. You was a franchise quarterback now before Nikki react. That's an interesting wrinkle that you brought up the assumption is that Miami would jump up obviously to grab borough which everyone assumes as the number one pick to run up to grab two and still take the rest of your draft capital. Well that's just an interesting angle but nick. There are three guys. You did leave off your list. Three number one picks for whom the jury is still out because they are still young. Rookie Deals Cuyler. Murray Baker Mayfield myles Garrett if you had to project those three where would you place them? So a number of things. I think myles Garrett would fit perfectly within the cloudy. Mario William solid players. Maybe he'll be better. Maybe you'll be transcendent. Memorial Williams was a very good. Nfl player that didn't bring you quite the value of the number one overall big same with cloudy. Baker. You would have to right now for a hit or miss is rookie or was a hit. His second year was a missed cuyler. We have such a limited sample. I'm almost hesitant to slot anywhere quickly. Just responded Greg about vic listen I I wrote a vix one of my favorite players ever but given what happened to him off the field and given that he reached his pinnacle of Success. With Philadelphia. If you're the Atlanta Falcons and you spend the number one big on Michael Vick you look back on it and say it didn't pan out the way we hoped now. We are projecting forward though and Kevin will kick this to you. There's a guy not on. This was not even in this year's draft in Trevor Lawrence. That I everything I said about the number one overall pick being overrated. I will take all the way back for driver. Lawrence and his draft class specifically. Because I think he's a future superstar when he comes out in twenty twenty one. I Dunno where you land on that wild. Well you know where I land on it. We know that ballot check is is stacking picks and I think people are going to make an insane. All someone's GonNa take an insane hall for Trevor Lawrence like next year. I think it's interesting. What would you do next year if you were a terrible team? Suppose the bengals again do definitely take Trevor Lawrence or do you have a if you have a huge amount of picks coming to you. Would you take picture? Trevor Lawrence Well I think Trevor Lawrence is the is the surest thing we've seen in the league coming out college since Payton there is. You could offer me the Ricky Williams trade and I wouldn't there. There is no deal. I would take to not take Trevor Lawrence if I needed a quarterback and you're pipe dream so the patriots in three years their quarterback roster is going to be trevor the Starter Cam Newton. The backup and Tom Brady on his forty eight forty five seasons third-sector mocked to New England over the last ninety six hours. I love it here first things first. Let's play little drawing a blank this morning so Tom Brady will once again be TV. Twelve Matt after teammate. Chris Godwin who wore number twelve agreed to give up number twelve to Tom. Brady Godwin is switching from fourteen. But now the team is reporting that nothing was exchanged for this Jersey swap. So if Brady Caving Godwin anything for number twelve is blank well. Listen I'm not one to hyperbole and I don't want to overreact. But this is shocking and appalling. First Godwin has made me over two million dollars in his career. Tom Brady has made just under a quarter of a billion dollars in his career on the field. Godwin is a third round. Pick who has yet to do his second. Nfl contract for. Tom Brady not to throw a couple hundred grand. His Way. Would you know would have made a demonstrable difference in Godwin's life and Brady would have never noticed? It never known it was gone is to me shocking and appalling. I'm shot that Brady didn't do. It and I'm appalled that he didn't do it so I I hope. This story is inaccurate. Greg Jennings because I am not willing yeah I it's unimaginable. I can't imagine scenario where I seriously can't imagine a scenario where this is the reality Chris God went did and said the right things. Like I don't want anything. He's he's respecting. Go and Tom Brady but I truly believe in his heart of hearts as a probe as I would have. I would have been assuming that with everything that I've heard and seen with Tom Brady. And his relationship with his his teammates specifically his receivers that there would have been some kickback. There would have been something that he would have offered me. Undisclosed and I would've taken that and just been excited ecstatic. I think that possibly is still the case. I just can't see or imagine a scenario where Tom Brady doesn't offer has got anything. Okay all right here. We go. Tom Brady is going to get Chris. Godwin tens of millions of dollars. So that's more than. Hey here's a new watch for. You're never going to get him. Tens of millions of dollars. Matthew Berry released his early fantasy projections. Number Five Julio Number six Amari Cooper who signed a hundred million dollar contract in number seven is Godwin so now Tom Brady set Chris. GonNA WIND UP DEAD. Make a hundred million dollars. Wilde's it's more than enough. Did Jessie Prescott did that. Prescott get that money for Mark Cooper dare target that money Mark Wahlberg. No no Amari. That's why I'm Brady's quarterback all you guys are all fired up for nothing. There's no way this story is true. Tom Brady is like the most out. Of course. He's he probably gave him six cars. It's not even an interest bearing teeth it'll come. I'd be new math. We can do which is positive. Tom Brady stories. That are unbelievable. Like I just want their phone numbers and I pitched myself to the bucks. We believe but negative stories. Yeah Fake News. Fake News Media Fake News. No I don't believe me. Give me a break neck right on it. We got him move onto the saints. Now Sean Payton might have spilled the beans yesterday. Saying drew brees quote announced his coming back. I final season knick year man have strategic wording Sean Payton Insane Twenty twenty s breezes. Final season is blank premature. Pop the brakes there. Drew or Sean. You guys lost Teddy Bridgewater. I know you've got TA SOM Hill. And his thirteen career pass attempts waiting in the wings but if drew brees wants to come back for each forty one and it'd be blazed well at age forty then. I drew them like. Hey like calm down. I'm beloved in the on the greatest player. And there's three the franchise brought Super Bowl. I just gave New Orleans. Five million dollars. Don't be kicking me out the door for the kick returner that you want to take my job and tastes a mill. I call it premature Greg Jennings I completely disagree icon. I couldn't disagree anymore. I think it's very should teach When you look at the way it was said there was no stutter stammer there was no No rebuttal from ABBVIE. Having said it Sean. Payton knew exactly what he was doing. He's playing his cards correct way. He already has drew brees. They've shown sign of loyalty signing him for two year. Fifty million dollar contract but they also understand that we have a future and what we can see in tae some hills so we have to say and do the right being so he knows that. Look guys. We're we're in on you. You're going to be playing. You're going to be a part of what we're doing moving forward this year. Look at some of the things. Drew brees said it tastes them. Hill gets twenty five thirty snaps. I'm good with it. They they've shown which very few teams do a sign of loyalty to drew brees and making sure that he's under contract and he's able to finish his career in New Orleans. I don't see I don't see this as any issue. A very strategic by shopping. Wow this reminded me of the two thousand seven hit movie wild hogs starring John Travolta Martin Lawrence h macy. And who is the four the forth wild Hog Tim Allen? So you've got a bunch of old quarterbacks Brady Breeze rivers and Big Ben. I don't think they have any interest in hanging it up. They're just gonNA keep going on their motorcycles and ride into the distance wild hogs. I'm going with Gina. I used to think I had a taste in movies and then wild came along. Joined our staff now. He has the most interesting based in movies onto the draft now and interesting report that multiple teams prefer origins. Justin Herbert over to a tunnel below as the number two quarterback off the board nick teams ranking Herbert over to our blank hiring soon. And what they're hiring is their next general manager. Goes if you if you have the opportunity. Take to a and you take Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert. That will be the last major decision you make is the general manager of the franchise and the next guy is going to have to come in and clean up that mess. So I'll be quick. Greg all say if anyone does this they will be hiring a new general manager soon. This is typical man this is. There's always that team that general manager at Nickelodeon to that feels like you know what he's six six to forty. He's pro tip is a typical pro prototype for what we're looking for in this house. Football League he can see over Tall Ivan he pro from the pocket so what to what is far leaps leaps and bounds better than adjusting over in. Anyone who has said is can identify that but some will disagree and it's typical. We see it with Baker Mayfield going. Were Sam Darnold and others. I think this is a smokescreen. Jenna I actually a little more optimistic than nick is. I think that people are saying that they like pervert. I just I'm not buying. I think it's a smokescreen. Oh that's interesting. Fake moving onto the colts. They reportedly evaluated. Tom Brady this off season. But Ultimately Philip rivers was a better fit for them so nick the colts thinking that rivers is a better fit than rainy is blank. An indictment and now I don't know if it's an indictment on Brady or it's an indictment on the colts ability to watch the chargers last year. But it's an indictment on somebody because if you watch Philip Rivers just throw twenty ducks into the air that ended in interceptions and it could have been thirty five and said he's a better fit than Tom Brady. Either a brady is more done than even I think is or be you were watching twenty eighteen. Philip rivers thinking it was twenty one thousand nine hundred Philip rivers. So it's an indictment on somebody involved. You're because as down as I am about Brady. I don't know how you could actively opt for Philip rivers over him. There's not been a moment in rivers career from his first year to last year where he was better than Tom Brady and I don't think he will be next year either. Nick you're missing. This is logical in reason why this is logical for the colts to say this because Philip rivers has been consistent. This is who. He's been so what they've seen. Frank Reich goes on a radio show and he said Look I. I haven't seen any drop all his arm. Strength is there is all these things. No you haven't because this has been Philip rivers from day one to right now present day. He's thrown some great roads and made some great passes and three touchdowns but he's GonNa throw it to the other team in. Every coach tends to paint that they can resolve in fix that issue. I don't see it happening. But this is logical for Frank. Right and staffed believe Philip rivers better suited than Tom Brady in June. I think it's an old Philip rivers and old comfy sweatshirt not a great sweatshirt but it's yours and it fits well it doesn't look great it's got some patches. It's got some stains on it. But that's what Philip rivers is to the Colts Organization Frank Reich fulfill rivers for three years Serianni fill rivers for five years and like hey. He's great buddies ours. An old sweatshirt sweatshirt are one rivers colts. Speaking of Tom Brady W. E. radio host Christian for illicit is tough. Re Tom Brady haters here. We go guys Chris Simms coming in at number one our guy nick right right behind him at number two and Rob Park arousing out the list. Nick is a guy who I would think. Always strives to be number one at everything. I'm sorry that you came in just shy. Number one on the list at number two which is making the list is blank. Check Kim because what we found out all twenty nineteen and this off season was you know who is just to aligned with me on their thoughts on Tom. Brady the greatest coach ever and the only nfl goats. Tom Brady's ever had bill belichick because bill belichick watched him in the playoff game and said orthon three. Now let's punt the ball away goal line against the chiefs. Let'S TRY TO HAMMER. Damn can't trust the quarterback and then this off season looked at Brady and said yeah I'll go with stood them so these dufuses in Boston can say whatever they want. Full Brady is what Bella check thinks of Brady so I call this Bella Checking Greg Jennings. I say it was Gracious Bay. Grace Nick with the second I but I simply because every comment that nick tends to make about Tom Brady. He proceeds on to say. I'm not. I'm not a brady hater. Everyone thinks I hate breathing. People who say that people who have to make that comment back that notoriety of or that statement of saying no. You meant exactly what you said before. You said the pledge so make they were gracious in giving you second. I believe your first possibly tied for with our our counterpart Rob Parker. But the. You're you're definitely I. Yeah so I I Agree Greg. Gentlemen put Nick in the blender here. I'm my word is Jordan. Ask Nick you might not have been the number one pick. You are the greatest of all time. Oh Oh that's really interesting. I see what you did there. You kinda you're trying to box me and do. I won't argue with you about the Brady thing or about the Jordan thing all do Bomar Lila's unread jennings it. Greg Jennings is wrong because I can say this about. It is not disrespectful to Michael Jordan to talk about how amazing he is. He is a consensus without a doubt top three player in the history of the League. And it's not good enough to say he's the second greatest ever will then. You have an agenda not meet just like with Brady. I'm not a hater by saying he's the greatest quarterback ever and the most pushed football player ever by a mile but he's also not good anymore. That's not being a hater. That's being a truth alert. Just Flight Jenna. One Bill Belichick. Was this off season with this decision back here. First things first talking about free agent Cam Newton the former. Mvp future is up in the air after. Carolina released him last week but our friends over at Fox better giving the chargers the best odds to land the thirty year old quarterback with the Jaguars Dolphins Broncos and patriots behind them. Nick with the chargers. Make Sense for Cam Newton. They'd make an immense amount of sense. This is great news for charger. Fans terrible news for me as achieved span. Because all of a sudden there'd be a real live second team to worry about in the division and those are if you're not a better. Those odds are overwhelming if if the chargers are favored according to Fox bet versus the field. There's not another team that's worse than Ford of or better than worse than four to one. So that is overwhelming Gordon Fox. But he goes to the chargers and it should be overwhelming. Because for every reason I said Tom Brady made sense to the chargers. Cam Newton makes even more sense because at this point his career. He's better than Tom Brady. He might not sell quite as many tickets but he is a name. He is a star He. We saw him the last time he was healthy. The first half of two thousand eighteen plays some of the best football career. The chargers gave me Linh and extension the head coach. But it's a fake extension. It's one additional year meaning. He's coaching for his job. This year after his first bad year with the team for being five and eleven last season so they have weapons they have to legitimate superstars on defense the AFC kind of has a soft to Middle Tier which they could skyrocket to the top of or at least near the top of and they have a need at quarterback wild. Because tyrod Taylor like tyrod but tyrod if he's your backup you love him if easier starter. You're always looking for the next guy and Kevin it would give the chargers a jolt of Energy and excitement so for all those reasons. I think it makes perfect sense for the chargers. Kevin Look. I'm a Patriots Fan. I Want Cam on the Patriots badly. I'm going to start a burner twitter account and just respond to every official patriots. Tweet with the CAM. Gif of him nodding in getting focused but if he's not going to the Patriots I would like him to go to the chargers because of the NFL. Overall I pulled up the chargers twenty twenty opponents on the old trustee computer here in addition to games against Mahomes. That would be nice to see nick. Just totally devastated that he could win against the Bengals have Joe Borough versus Cam would be a great game broncos game against his old offense coordinator Mike Shula. Who's now the quarterbacks coach? I'd be like it's like little either revenge game or some sort of Shakespearean thing there then we've got patriots so like ballot check. We kinda wanted this guy. What are we GONNA do? Breeze Tampa bags a canvas brady and then finally you play the panthers. Whatever team can goes to? I want him to play the panthers. The over-under on that game will be one hundred points in in this final score of the game will be one hundred to nothing cameras going to light the panthers on buyer Greg. I wouldn't mind going to the giants long story. Short I think. Greg this whole go ahead go on tyrod. Taylor than Nick Is. Nick is out on tyrod Taylor starter. Better on him as a backup chargers in place he knows the system. They've got a team a good team in place. Should they even want Cam Newton yet? They should they should because he's a superstar. He's a proven winner. He's a former. Mvp He's taken a team to the to the Super Bowl. He understands what it takes. And he's maturing look this notion of. He's thirty years old and he's getting older and no one wants him no. I don't even think that it's no one wants him. It's teams have what they desire right now on their roster and they have the draft in front of them and options right. They're lying in front of them with the draft and so they are waiting and I think can will land soon after the draft but if there is a team that he could end up very well on as we see the Fox bet if the charges and it would be great it would be fantastic. Not only for the city of Los Angeles from a fan base in from drawing respected but for Keenan Mike Williams and those guys to get Cam Newton. They would love it. They would absolutely thrive with Cam Newton at quarterback and it would be the first time Cam Newton had more than just one receiver. That could really rely depend on and the defense. The chargers WANNA bet they were a bad team. They just suffered a lot of injuries there. When James is what what have you? They were injured. I like the charges. It's specially if Cam Newton is their quarterback nick to the chargers suddenly become contenders in the AFC. If they get cam a hundred percent like listen right now that the chiefs and the Ravens are clearly the two favorites going into next season out of the AFC. But who is third that? We don't know who the quarterback for the Patriots is. We do know the quarterback for the bills is and that probably hurts their case this steelers. We know their quarterback is but we don't know what he weighs and we don't know billable works anymore. The Texans just traded away their best player or the second best player. Pardon me the culture. Starting Philip rivers there is a very very legitimate argument to be made that with a healthy cam. Newton the chargers become the third best team in the AFC and it should be noted. We are just one season removed from the chargers being tied with the chiefs for the best record in the Conference Jenna at twelve and four then rivers season. Went to Hell and Derwin. James broke his foot. That's what happened in twenty nineteen so yes absolutely Jenner. They become contenders if they had a healthy cam. Newton here first things first. It is time for stories to start your morning nick. Your chiefs have a whopping one hundred. Seventy seven dollars of available cap space. Bears Repeating one hundred seventy seven dollars or in my daughter's language that is twelve. Ll dolls worth of money for cap space. What do you think they should spend it on? Well LISTEN IS GONNA be able to spend it on anything but this is awful news for the other thirty one teams because it speaks to not only the chief of the best quarterback in the league. They might have the best general manager in the League. We talk all the time. Take advantage of your rookie quarterback window when you've got a great quarterback on a rookie contract that is exactly what the chiefs have done and the team that just won the Super Bowl. They've been able to retain essentially every e component of that super bowl team and they go into the draft with nearly two hundred dollars to spend. I will also add this wild if they were to trade away. Sammy Watkins. That hundred. Seventy seven dollars politically turns into fourteen million one hundred and seventy seven dollars so they need wiggle room. They'll have it and then eventually they'll rework some things to sign Patrick Mahomes. This is great news for me all news for you and fans the other thirty one teams. Okay Greg I'm actually surprised. An enterprising agent didn't run the numbers and get their client. The extra one seventy seven. That was just going to be sitting there. That's a while that's a good one but I think they would take the the the cameras before the one seven seven and just telling you can keep the one seven seven however nick. I'm with you. I don't think this is bad. Problems have obviously because they had planned this out correctly and they understood where they would be in this present moment and they'll make proper adjustments. Great teams do great general managers. Do money men do? And that's what they've proven to be. Their focus is making sure they keep everyone together within also understanding. We have to pay that man and that man is Pat Mahomes and that's going to be their primary focus. They'll be are seventy seven dollars. All right moving on to Tom Brady now. Tv twelve gets to keep his nickname and his number with the box. White OUT KRIS. Godwin gave up his twelve. Fourteen radio. Reportedly didn't give up any compensation for it. Either you give up your number to play with the greatest of all time. I'm I'm be honest. I'm not man I get it. I get it Tom Brady. You wore number twelve forever But the same way he feels about his number twelve. I'm sure God feels about his number twelve. And if he had been in the league a little longer I would say he probably wouldn't just give it away but yeah I wouldn't give it up nick. I like those little sign of Camaraderie. Here raitis twelve Mike Evans is thirteen. Godwin takes fourteen. It's like the old bronx bombers Yankees. I like it. It's like a nice proline poster. I'M GONNA put up in my kid's bedroom yet you know. What would you know how that could have absolutely worked in what actually been a sign of Camaraderie? A Brady would've taken fourteen twelve. Thirteen fourteen Brady walked on. Niger's ice phone numbers. I L. Listen let me read you. This is important. I think this is important. We Chris Godwin to the Tampa. Bay buccaneers website not caught up in the air by some reporter to their team website. When asked about this a week ago if he meaning break if he's not making a big deal of it I'm definitely going to keep it. I'm passionate about my number. His fiancee has the number twelve in her instagram. Handle Chris Godwin also hurry nine good for him and his future finances apart wild. You're not gonNA wait a second. This is the part you might not like to hear but for. Chris Godwin's long-term money. Radi coming there's not necessarily good thing. Jamie's is bad for winning. He's not bad for receivers numbers. He threw for five thousand yards thirty three touchdowns last year. God we're not a thirteen hundred yards season. He's never made any money. It's probably actually a negative for him. That Brady comes there. And then he also Wilde's depots in for the number and doesn't even give him a car or watcher of you hundred grand. I can't you know not my go. I know my goat does that. Anthony Davis take it. Take the number. Even though I've been here longer take the number. That's what my goat did but I don't know about yours so you tell me just Jenner. We still go on what is still going to send a nice thing of how much branch got paid by the SEAHAWKS. So maybe you're dealing with millions of dollars. All right we gotta move onto this saints now. On paying said Jason Hale sees himself as a starting quarterback and we do to meeting the saints. Only problem with that guy by the name of drew brees. Nave would you make? Payton's comments the taste of hill as a starting quarterback story. It's I can't give it a precedent in NFL history. Jason meal would be a quality player on all thirty two teams all thirty two teams have a guy like that that can do a little of everything. Can we show tastes them hills career numbers and would appear the thing he does. Worst is throw the football. Oh Dessert rusher. Wow eight receiving touchdowns while we'll get those were returning yards. He has thrown playoffs and regular season combined. Fifteen acids not touchdowns that zero fifteen total passes. I had no idea I. I'm sure that tastes him. Hill as a starting quarterback story makes Brad Smith an Antoine Randall. L and these other guys that were tasting meals in the past and no one ever considered starting quarterback saying Oh. Let me get some of that. Where where was that when I was a twenty nine year old Swiss army knife but if that's the same want to do in a year more power and wild. I don't get it at all. Remember what I said that. The Patriots quarterback situation was drama. Free because the saints also have a legend that they're transitioning out of the Patriots are not talking about Mohamed. Sanu becoming the quarterback even though Mama's new thrown for four career touchdowns Bella checks nine entertaining it. So the fact that Sean Payton's your guy is mind boggling. What other option do they have? They don't have any other option right now. So this is their guy tastes. Them Hill is their guy. Sean Payton does a great job of making sure that he puts their guys in the best position to succeed. Whether that's at quarterback running the ball or at re quarterbacks splitting them out putting receiver. He's going to get on the field and he's going to play. He's going to impact the game. That's what they want. That's what they're enjoying right now but when it comes down to under center. I don't know if we've seen enough of taste some hill. They have seen more than than we have in practice in. I tell you what I've seen guys in practice that took jobs over in that really excelled Aaron Rodgers. Being one of them. No one thought that he should be the guy right then but he stepped in and we didn't skip a beat so they're seeing things that we don't see Greg's right. They got no other choice right now. Teddy Bridgewater left tastes. Him Hill is apparently. They're saying no wait. Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wake up. Roy have a job. Cam doesn't have a job. The draft is yet to happen. There's free agency next year of the idea. They got no choice. Where if it were. Listen if it's week. Twelve and drew brees breaks his shoulder. And then. Yeah then you have no other choice. It's a plane. Those in April fools joke. They're talking about what they're doing a year from now the argument can be. We Got Joyce. We've been backed into this. They kept Teddy. This is insanity. It's total insanity guy with thin bassim and he's damn near thirty like nope. He's our era parent. It's insane it's insect. Don't kill the Messenger.
