A highlight from Why The Web3 Creator Economy Needs Coinbase's Base Protocol ft. Jesse Pollak

"Welcome to Mint. I'm your host, Adam Levy, and in this series, I'll be showcasing stories from the top creative entrepreneurs, collectors, investors, and founders pushing the boundaries of what's possible across the Web3 Creator economy. In today's episode, I'm joined by Jesse Pollock, contributor number one in the force behind base protocol at Coinbase. Together, we delve deep into how base is positioning itself in the Web3 Creator landscape. From foundational insights to its broader vision, we've got a packed discussion ahead. So stay with us. This conversation is one for the books. We're back with another episode with me today. I have Jesse Pollock, the one and only man, brains behind base contributor number one. What's going on, Jesse? Thank you for being on. Hey, Adam. Thanks for having me. Super excited to be here. I'm super excited to have you. We initially met in person. I think it was in Denver at like the music NFT party. And somebody I think it was Keely from Mellors PR intro to us. And then the rest is history. Yeah, I think we hit it off pretty pretty nicely that night. What do you remember from that evening specifically? Yeah, so I was you know, this was East Denver. This was the week after we launched base. So we launched base on like Thursday, and then the whole next week with East Denver. And this was the end of my trip. So the next morning, I was waking up and flying back to DC. And Coop had invited me Coop of Coop Records and all of those things. He said, Hey, come to this music thing. And I was like, Oh, man, this is like a music like this is so what I want to do. And it's at like 11pm after a really long week. And I'm so excited. So tired. So I went and I went by myself, because like, I don't know why I ended up going by myself, I went by myself. And I got there, I started listening to the music and it was, you know, filling up crowded. But my energy was just like, really dying. I was like, I don't know if I can do this. And so I was sitting down on this bench. And this, this woman sat down next to me. And we started a conversation. And we started talking about what I did and base. And she was like, Oh, you're saying you're here by yourself. You don't know anyone, let me go, like find some people for you to get to know. And led that to her bringing over Adam. And Adam was like, Oh, wow, excited to meet you. Like, let me go find some more people for you to know. And then Adam basically spent like, I think, like 20 minutes just walking me around the bed just being like, meet this person, meet this person, meet this person. And it went from me being like, literally leaving, because I was just so exhausted to feeling so much energy and so much like, welcome energy in being there. So I don't know, I felt so grateful to be to be to have gotten to meet you and connect there and that you took the time to like connect with a bunch of other people who now of course, like we're already collaborating with on a bunch of different things. So love it. I love it. I shout out to Keeley for making that intro. I really enjoyed like running around. We love Keeley, shout out Keeley. I was running around the event, like smearing my chest against people's backs is trying to like make my way through the crowd, just just to make these intros. And it was fun. It was a good time. And I remember we had a conversation where like, Jesse, we have to run an episode on the podcast capture your vision and your story on how you sort of imagine the creator economy unfolding on base. So that's exactly what I want to do today. But I think a good place to start, which I do start with everybody is a quick, brief intro. Specifically, Jesse, who are you, man? What does the world need to know about you? And more specifically, how did you get your start into crypto? Yeah, I'm Jesse. Like Adam said, I create a base, kind of leading all those efforts. Bases layer to Ethereum blockchain that's being incubated out inside of Coinbase, with the goal of making it really easy for developers to build, and for consumers to use these new applications that are being built on chain, including things for creators, like minting NFTs that can give you more connection, more revenue, more value from your fan base. So that's, that's what I do. Today, my story to crypto is, it's, you know, it's been a while, I've been working kind of in and around crypto for more than a decade now, at this point, I started a company in 2012, called Clef, that built kind of identity and security software for crypto businesses, primarily. So like Bitfinex and Bitmex and other exchanges were customers of ours, did that for five years, that business didn't work. And so kind of at the beginning of 2017, went through the acquire process, and ended up at Coinbase through that. And then the last six years have been kind of helping grow Coinbase from what was a 70 person company when I joined to now I think like a 3500 person company. I led all of our consumer facing team. So Coinbase, Coinbase Pro, Coinbase wallet on the engineering team for on the engineering side for four and a half years. And then for the last two years, I've been trying to figure out how do we bring Coinbase more on chain? Basically, like, how do we get Coinbase to really embrace all these incredibly powerful new crypto tools that are emerging? And it kind of out of those explorations and work get base. And here I am. So you were around employee number 70 at Coinbase all the way to 3500? Yeah, yeah. So Coinbase is interesting because it was started in 2012. But then it went through two bull bear markets before I joined in 2017. And to which point we went through another one. And so the company had like grown and then shrunk and then grown and then shrunk like twice before. And so in the like raw employee count, I'm sure it's a higher number. Like there are more than 70 people who worked at Coinbase before I joined. But when I joined, it was about 70 people and the engineering team was about 20 people or so. I just joined as an engineer. And then pretty quickly, they were like, you've managed people before. Like, why don't you take on managing a team and thus began a journey from managing like three people, which was my first time ever managing engineers to managing like teams that I think had something like 200 people in them by the time I was done with that role in kind of the middle 2021. What's Wow. Coinbase energy like at 70 people versus 3500 people? If you could sort of like give an example, how would you explain it? Well, I think there's a lot that's the same. Like this is one of the things, this is why I'm still at Coinbase after six plus years is that there's a lot of commonality. I think that's because Brian, our CEO, A is still our CEO, like he founded the company and he's still here 11 years later running the company. And so I think that's created kind of like a cultural continuity. But then B, I think he did a really good job just like identifying early on that in order to make us successful, we needed to like identify what are those cultural tenets about like who we are and how we work that like everyone's going to stick to. And those have been consistent. So the ones that really stand out to me that like I think about all the time are positive energy. Like this is just like there's no whining at Coinbase. It's like you bring positive energy to whatever the hard challenges that you're solving and anything less than that is going to be like not accepted. And that very much aligned with kind of my ethos of just like optimism. Like we can do this, we can always do this, even when it gets hard, we can do this. So that's a big one. And then I'd say another really big one is this is this idea of kind of efficient execution, which is just like, we find ways to make it so we can get 80 % of the value for 20 % of the work. Like how do we ship something quickly that delivers value to our customers, rather than kind of like getting in the weeds and trying to be like, Oh, this thing has to be absolutely perfect in order for us to get out into the wild. And, you know, I think, especially on that one, it's been interesting to see at the company that it's been so consistent, and it's a huge strength. And also there's places where it can be like a challenge for us to manage. Like, for instance, like with that mindset, I think we're really, really good at shipping things. But then it can be harder for us to build like the like, really, really, like manicured experiences, like to get that, like incredibly high product quality. And so that's, I think that's a muscle that we're we're building. So I'd say those things, things like positive energy and efficient execution, those have been really consistent. I'd say the thing that shifted is just like a 70 person company, you know, everyone. And so you want to get something done, you just like go ask the person you walk over to their desk. I think at the like 3500 person company, it's, it's a beast. And I get the benefit of like, I've known, I've been here for so long, I know people, so I can still kind of do that thing where I walk over to people, you know, on the internet, because we're all fully remote now. But even with my knowledge, it still requires so much just like thoughtfulness, basically, about how do we get everyone headed in the same direction. And this has really been my work for the last two years. It's like, how do we get everyone headed in the direction of, you know, making our business be a crypto native on chain business, which requires us transforming from being a kind of like web to business with a little bit of crypto that was created in 2012.

"Mortal Kombat 12 gets revealed at a PlayStation showcase. But right before E three time. PlayStation showcase PlayStation has been owning fighting games. That is, that is insane. If they did that, I feel like Mortal Kombat and PlayStation, it's a keely thing to me. You think so? Yeah, summer game faster. There was that picture. Lock it in. Oh, who posted it? It was a picture of Ed boon and Keeley. And like a couple other devs, just chillin. The dinner or something the other day, where I was like, okay, Keeley has the connections. So I think that could make sense. But I think PlayStation is trying to go hard with the fighting games, especially with them owning Evo and all that stuff. Now, here's the thing. Street fight. 6, 6 is not exclusive. No. What about evil? Do you think Mortal Kombat 12 gets announced that Evo? I don't think he was big enough for Mortal Kombat 12. Yeah, it's going to be summer game fast. I really think it'll be summer game fast. The Mortal Kombat PlayStation, I get what you're saying, I think that that's, there's something about the connection that I just don't see it happening. Yeah. It just doesn't feel right. Interesting. Yeah. Interesting. What I do like a pizza bed on this? I feel pretty strongly about out of PlayStation thing. All right, cool. All right, pizza. Thank you cracking all of our pizza bets. Yeah, please. We need a pizza bet tracker. PlayStation has been good about not good. They have in the past worked with Warner Brothers, right? Like Arkham knight. Harry Potter, Hogwarts legacy. You're right, yeah. So I feel very strongly about PlayStation. Because I think, yeah, the connection between WB is there. The PlayStation now literally owning Evo, and also doing the PlayStation tournaments thing on their Twitch channel all the time. And really wanting to own and push the final game genre. And we got Street Fighter 6 at the state of play before E three last year. We got taken 8 announced that the state of play in September last year. We're going to get more combat at a PlayStation showcase. And that's PlayStation being like, yeah, we got the big three of fighting games. Yeah. That would be that would be that'd be fucking insane. I'm already excited about it. Mortal Kombat just feels so keely though. It feels so summer game fast like if Game Awards timing at it, I'd be like, oh, it's a goddamn lock. It'll be at the top. Yeah, I can see that. But I think a lot of people thought it was going to be at The Game Awards last year, which works out that it wasn't. So yeah, I like this. I feel like it's a real good bet that between either a PlayStation showcase that's probably going to happen in May according to grub or summer game fest kick-off live in June, ultimate shenanigans, whatever the fuck they call it in June. One of those two, it'll be there. Yes. To the second part of the 5 star man's question here, what do you think is going to take for one of these iconic franchises stand tall when it's all said and done? I'll tell you right now. Mortal Kombat is going to outsell tech in Street Fighter easily. That said, in terms of the nerds and critical reception, I think Street Fighter 6 is going to be the one where everybody's like, oh, this is the best. I think street 5 O 6 will win like the critical side of this is the best fighting game of the year, but more combat 12 is going to dominate in terms of sales and popularity. And then tekken 8, I'm going to love. You're so right. But I think actually that for them to succeed, all coming out the same year is good for them. I think that in order for these games to really have a chance, the fighting game community needs to be vibrant. So giving them things to do in different things to play, imagine an Evo, where all three of these things are like headline main events. That is exciting. It's going to be evil 2024, hopefully fingers crossed. Street Fighter 6, having its, I forget the name of the casual mode that it's adding. I think the modern controls. It's also story that story mode where you're rocking. The whole story mode thing too, which I'm still a little bit more like, I don't know if that's going to hit. But I think that the Street Fighter four was incredibly important for fighting games. I think that fighting games where they're at now, a lot of that is owed to Street Fighter four kind of redefining like, hey, we're back. Finding games as a genre are not dead. They're here to stay, tech and never stop. Technicians was kind of going on forever. And then Mortal Kombat 9 is another thing. So Mortal Kombat 9 in Street Fighter four, I think, came out and we were just like, hey, we're going to reboot the right term, but just kind of like have a new status quo for what fighting games can be in the mainstream side of things. Of course, the arc system works never stopped. They made it so many amazing games. But in terms of what we're talking about here, the big three of Street Fighter Mortal Kombat and tech and I think that all three of them, I expect all three of these games to be really good. So I'm not worried about the quality side of it. It is more about the timing, is there enough audience and all of that. That's my thing is I kind of hope that we get a bit of time between each of these. Ideally, I would want two of these games come out this year and then one of these games plus project L from right to come out next year. 'cause I think two and two would be as strong like, all right, this is the year, let's say Mortal Kombat 12 and Street Fighter 6. And then let next year be the year of tech and a and project L and then maybe our system works comes out with a game the year after. I want a solid cadence of very quality fighting games and basically I don't want the fighting games to blow their blow their low too early and then have next year and be like, all right, it's this project bell. But imagine if we got Street Fighter 6 in June, we get Mortal Kombat in November. We get tech in January or February and then project later that year. That'd be such a. I do think that that would be a nice kind of like massaging of an audience where, like you're saying, people like you are going to play them all. You're already planning on playing them all. But how many new people is Street Fighter 6 going to get in that they're going to be like, they'll start casual, but end up being like, oh, I actually, I'm really into this, and then when Mortal Kombat comes, play that and be like, I want to keep going, and then eventually get into the tech. And I think tekken's always the hardest sell because it is the most different. It is the most niche. It is at this point, I think the most, it has the least mainstream appeal. Yeah. The big three, obviously, project that was kind of its own. Hardcore eSports side. And that's the project fail is speaking to the well, I was going to say to people that play Valerie and stuff and probably not as directly, but they are speaking to in hardcore audience. And it's also going to be free to play. And so it's going to be easy to easily get access and the try hards are going to go hard for project L but I do think that you're talking to a different audience. Everybody's going to play Mortal Kombat. The mainstream audience is going to play Mortal Kombat. Street Fighter is also going to speak to the hardcore and the Street Fighter audience, right? The traditional final game audience. Tekken, I think tekken coming after Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter would actually be a pretty good thing. Even if even technically could come out after a project L that might be the best case scenario for it because I think a lot of these games are going to bring in a lot of people into fighting games, especially coming back to back, right? These are the big hitters. These are the games that people care about. Street Fighter 6 is trying to make itself more approachable than ever. But we'll call my 12. Probably already going to be approachable because moral combat. And then riots project L on the level of access, being able to play it free to play. And then it just being a riot game is going to bring that audience in. I think you're looking at this swell of audience that hopefully could then feed into tech and 8 and lift up tech and a and make a pass for the most popular tech in. Honestly, I think that that's I expect that to be the case. I hope so.

"So Broderick Jones would be my fast rated guy right now and then the other two that are contention to be first rounders. Peter Stein of northwestern and then also Paris junior Jordan. All right, I just don't understand it. And that's because I'm a DB at heart. And we never get drafted as high as we should be. Quarterbacks always get overdrafted. And why am I not hearing enough love for cornerback Emmanuel Forbes Mississippi state? What else could he do in his college career to put him at the top of the draft boards? I hear cam Smith. I hear Brian branch, all these names going up in the first round for SEC guys. But what's up with my man who probably played the best out of every defensive back or every defender in all the SEC last year? I'm right there with you. I don't understand. Okay. If I had to guess right now, I mean, he's just a natural ball hall. 14 interception as the SEC record for fixed 6s. Now he is a little bit thin. That's what scouts are saying. There were some people that say played around 175 pounds. A year ago, which is a bit light, so he does need to gain some weight, but he does have the body capacity to where he can gain that simplest pounds. It's just a matter of keeping that speed and that technique. And then also that hit fluidity, but I'm right there with you, Roman. I think he's going to be a late first round pick if I had to guess right now, but I think he's very, very underrated in this class. I agree. I know this to do can cover. He plays off COVID carrying place press. He can cover. I don't see many corners in college that can play off coverage in zero man to man coverage and play press. And you don't see any drop off in his game. Somebody like Keeley ringu, who we all love his size speed and ability combination, but he's a guy that only plays press in that it's more intuitive that he goes to the right situation versus a corner who like Emanuel Forbes, you can plug and play in all 32 teams. He's going to be the exact same player. Yeah, this corner class is really interesting. I think of many position, I think we may see the most go in the first round, especially, you know, guys like, we're not even mentioning the guys like Eli rich, so I think could go somewhere late day two, who I think is gonna outperform his draft slot very quickly. And isn't there some plenty of other players as well? I love Brian branch. I love him. I think he could be, I would take him in the top 20. That's how much I like him, even though he's primarily that nickel spot, I think he's flexible enough and has the versatility to where you can play him at free safety too. So I think the world of this cornerback flash and I think we could see as many as 5 or 6 going in the first round. Jordan I put the sugar ball on the other day and I was watching it again. I want to just kind of go take a look at some of those younger Alabama kids and I was watching the Alabama offense. I want to see Tyler Booker and some of the younger backs. And I just kept marveling not only are Bryce young, but also jameer Gibbs. And it kind of brought me to this question, is it in concrete? Is it stamped right now in stone, the bijan Robinson is the best fable running back in this draft? Oh, I've been saying this since I love bijan, but jameer is special. Like, I put up a tweet yesterday that he's a Corvette. Like Keegan go back to zero in an instant. And everybody's saying that he reminds them of album Camara, but the player that I see is Jamal Charles. They're the same exact size, 5 11, 200 pounds. He's not going to be that two 15 to 20 range that Camara was at the combine a few years ago and he's not as thick. That's come here either Khmer has a really thick lower half and I don't think you have the contact balance that Khmer has either but as far as the versatility you can use them in the slot, you can flex on a wide, you can put them in mismatches against linebackers or nickel guys, but also outside zone scheme, just use that stretch scheme and let them go. He just has a different gear he has a different burst than any other back in his draft class. So I don't think he's gonna be the first one to go just because I don't think he's as well rounded or as a one a back as bijan Robinson is, but I mean, if he ends up being the best back from this draft class, that would not surprise me at all. Jordan, tell me this, did anybody make a better decision than drew Sanders by transferring into the university of Arkansas last year? And all of a sudden now, really bursting going through the scene and showing everybody that he has the capability to not only rush the passer, but be effective inside linebacker as well. Yeah, I love the way the Arkansas used to them. They not only put them at Mike, but they rushed him off the edge a little bit too. And that's just the versatility that you get with drew Sanders, the Alabama tape. I thought he was phenomenal in that game. That was one of my favorite games that he played this year. You're seeing just how it feels quiz. He can step down hill and close in an instant. He can get out, he can turn the system cover, but also he's experienced as a defensive end off of the edge too, and you can blitz them up the middle as well. So drew Sanders, I think he's in contention to be probably a top 25 pick right now wouldn't surprise me if he's the first linebacker off the board. I think it's between him and Trent and Simpson of Clemson as far as being the first player at that position off of the board in the first round. Two linebackers with a lot of versatility, a lot of speed. You have to have both to play in today's NFL. Jordan great stuff. Thank you so much for joining us. Enjoy this process. It's fun. Building up for the drafts, looking forward to catch up with you again soon. Absolutely. Thank you guys as always. Appreciate it, Jordan. Jordan Reed, NFL Draft analyst joining us. We will go to break. Be back with more next right here on the Paul finebaum show. You were listening to the Paul fine bomb show podcast. Saturday, March 4th.

"The data check futures negative 19, down futures negative one 23. It's auction free Friday, Lisa. Wait, I see positive across the board, actually. I think everything is doing quite nicely and constructive. At NASDAQ up about 5 tenths of a percent, the S&P up about the same a little bit of a bid into treasuries. Basically, the lift is not coming off data. It is coming off this feeling that we are not getting as fast inflation we have hit peak inflation at the fed's going to respond. I would suggest Keeley lines in for John Farrell Keeley, I would suggest that what we've seen here today and in the last couple of days is flows in a lot of doubt about the persistency of the flows in equities. Yeah, and you've seen that in the Bank of America data that Michael hartnett put together $7.1 billion in global equity funds pulled in through August 10th, which of course was the CPI day. $11.7 billion worth of flows into bonds as well. 4.3 billion pulled out of cash, Tom, if you're still in triple leverage all cash, it seems like you might be the only one. 'cause a lot of people have decided something changed this week and they're putting money to work. Yeah, based on the hate mail I get, I would say that's right. It's a pretty lonely position. True man is joins us now to sort this out. He is chief market strategist. It met life. But that barely describes what he and mori Harris did at UBS years ago and the depth of the great financial crisis where they suggested the American economy would piece together and would be resilient and would move forward over the coming decade. Drew, I look at the moment that we're in right now and the one statistic that gets my attention is three ratios of productivity. People like you seem to be very concerned about a dearth of productivity and inefficiency in the economy. Is that evident or can we prosper? I think it's evident. One of the things that's most disturbing is actually that right now, you have the GDP contracting, right? And we can all debate recession as much as we want. But GDP is contracting, and yet we're still hiring a ton of people. And so maybe we're hiring those people because the systems become so inefficient that without all those additional people, you can't actually get the job done. And if that's the case, and your potential growth rate is declining, and so it's bad news for the economy. It's bad news for long-term inflation. And it's bad news for kind of what the next recession might look like. What does it mean for investment? What does it mean for the greater actual assumption of someone like MetLife or the actual assumption of our viewers and listeners who are just trying to get the Labor Day? Well, if it's sustained, it's kind of a lower trend to growth story for the United States, which is obviously not something we want. We want to be in a high growth environment with modest inflation because that's what actually outperforms and creates the most wealth for an economy. And of course, workers benefit if they're productive. And worker standard of living increases if people are productive. If we're not productive, those things are going to decline. And so I think from a kind of a very long-term perspective, it's a negative for interest rates. It's a negative for growth in the U.S. economy. And it's a negative for U.S. competitiveness. How long can you remain gloomy drew when you see the optimism being reflected in pretty much all of the markets? You know, I got to say, I'm kind of short term bloomy, but long term, very positive. I think this flip in productivity is just that. I think it's a situation where everyone's trying to get used to kind of this new environment that we're in. And I think this new environment is actually an old environment. We got so used to being service sector driven that we forgot that there are cycles in the economy that don't pertain to services. So there's a manufacturing cycle. And there's inventory builds that inventory contractions. And one of the things I've been thinking about a lot lately is everything we're seeing really just to return to kind of economic volatility that used to be the norm, let's say before the 1990s. So what do you buy, drew? Well, so that's a great question because our nearer term forecast is that we're not in a recession now, but it's coming. And there's going to be a calm before the storm, which is kind of what we're in right now. And I think one of the, one of the most important questions I think we're trying to figure out right now is what the next recession looks like and how deep could it be, how sustained could it be? And more importantly than what the recovery is out of it. So I think now is the time for caution because I do think what we're seeing now is kind of a false dawn. And that we're going to get towards the end of the year. We're going to really begin to see people pull back on things like hiring and investment. And that will affect the consumer and with the consumer will go to the economy. The entire, I think, I'm sorry, what? Well, just when you see the consumer, I wonder what kind of consumer we're really talking about, because you have a company like Apple with Bloomberg reporting overnight that they're telling suppliers, make as many next generation iPhones this year as you did last year because affluent consumers are still going to be upgrading their phones, yet there's the lower end

"As we welcome all of you John Farrah out to the Keeley lines in with Lisa Brahman Tom Keene here. Moments away from an inflation report waiting for the numbers across the acclaimed isio screen of the Bloomberg terminal and Michael McKee will give us a view to maybe what will be a constructive report. It's a constructive report time. It comes in better than expected with CPI on a month over month basis flat, no change at all. That is down from 1.3% in the month of June, so a major drop in the headline number, the core goes up by three tenths of 8%, the forecast was for 5 tenths and in June it was 7 tenths. So that's an unexpectedly better than forecast report. On a year over year basis, CPI is at 8.5%, we'd expect it to drop to 8.7 from the 9.1 last month. And the core is at 5.9%. Now, the expectation was, it would go higher 5.9 was the same number as in June, the expectation was it would go higher to 6.1% because pressures were spreading. But this is the kind of news that's going to make the folks at the bureau of labor statistics. And at The White House and at the fed, smile a little bit. Mike, look into the data further, we'll come right back to you with a big lift to the market, features up 1.38%, 57 S&P points Dow out over 33,000 is remarkable 356 points in a solid 2% move in the NASDAQ 100. Lisa described the two ten spread with a launch to a lesser inversion. Yeah, I think that that is the takeaway here. You see the two year yield plunge on the heels of the right kind of downside surprise. You've got a tick back to 43, a negative 43 at yield curve inversion on the basis points. Honestly, though, how much does this really move the needle when you're still talking about core CPI at 5.9%? And then I think it's going to be the key message from a lot of fed officials. Yeah, step at a time here, dollar comes in weaker with finally a one O three print on Euro, is, well, Michael, the level of surprise here on a fan distribution of all the experts you reviewed, where are we on that fan distribution? This has got to be right at the edge of great news. Yeah, as long as you define great news as something that doesn't move that much because as one of your guests was saying just before we went on there. Yeah, come out and say, we've launched from 9.1% down to 8.5%. Can the president extrapolate out and say, we're going to be at 8.2% or 8.3% in 30 days? My guess looking at this is that maybe he can. Looking at some of the underlying numbers. Now, we don't know what will happen with energy prices, the war goes on in Ukraine. But at this point, gasoline was down 7.7%. In the month in June, it rose 11.2%. So do we get the same kind of percentage drop? That's hard to say. Food prices went up. Food at home, 1.3% higher. It was 1% in June. Now, we've seen agricultural commodities fall. So maybe that will work its way into prices. We get PPI tomorrow. We'll take a look at that. But the also food prices depend a lot on the weather. So you can't say for sure these things are going to happen, but we finally see a drop in used car prices have been waiting for that for a long time down four tenths of a percent. They rose 1.6% last month. New car prices up 6 tenths that's a tenth lower. And apparel prices. This is one to watch. Down one tenth after rising 8 tenths the month before. Remember, all the earnings reports that we've had on retailers, they're all talking about large inventories that they're going to have to mark down to get rid of because people, they didn't get them into the stores in time for the right season. So there are discount stores that are going to be putting those things on sale. Futures up ever more nasty futures is the roulette wheel, the betting wheel here of the markets up 2.6% Lisa, I just extrapolated out a one, two, three, four point core CPI trend. This is bogus mathematics, Lisa, but it gets you back to a 2% core CPI in the vicinity of the end of 2024. Bogus mathematics, what everybody needs on a Wednesday morning. When I'm looking at their time, you are so right to be looking at the NASDAQ and the S&P surging. And it gets the fed further away from their goal, right? And how much is this not what the fed wants to be seeing at a time when they want financial conditions? I like that idea. And they want to get it down quickly. Mike, how much are fed officials going to push back against the sort of belief in a sort of doubling down on the fed pivot on the heels of this data? They'll push back on it because this is one report. And as we said, the area several more before the next time, they have to make a decision. And you look at some of the other categories in this, it's still got some worrisome news. We're looking at rent of shelter up half a percent after 6 tenths last month. And rent of primary residence up 7 tenths, the owners equivalent rent, which is the measure that they look at to see what house prices are doing up 6 tenths after 7 tenths last month. So it's still in the shelter category in the red category, still going up at a fairly strong pace and that is going to be a problem going forward because it takes a long time to get that through the system. Our advantage is Michael McKee will dive into the pages and pages of data that we see in this inflation report for America to summarize again a constructive inflation report Brian deese would lease up Ramos in the 9 o'clock hour on radio and television with a White House view on that good news futures up 67 in the NASDAQ again up 2.4%. Here's the worst news for you, Tom. You probably already knew this. Distilled spirits at home

"It's not as a rival game you see what I'm saying? I mean, could be, but again, if you're putting emphasis on that, so I don't know. If it's a wrestler, you know, type of game, it's not for me. Other people might like it, but I don't like those type of games. So we'll see, I'll wait for the gameplay to get full judgment, but as soon as I saw a survival, it kind of turned me all, but I mean, it would be dull because it said it's going to be between events of terminator two. And a resistant moment. So I think that would be cool. Yeah, I'm not if it is like a rush type of game where you got to build a fort with your friends and then robots are trying to come in hard for them. Hard pass. Exactly. What type of game? The description right there. It just seemed like that's what you're going to do. And I'm like, ugh. Any building mechanics I'm good. Also open world. Come on, guys. Especially if you don't have experience making open world games, can we. I want to see more semi open world games, okay? Jedi fallen order, okay? I keep bringing that one back up, but it just gave you enough wiggle room to explore, but it wasn't overwhelming, it didn't feel like too much, you know, or like the outer worlds, you know, that was another good one. Nice little bit of wiggle room. We're like, God damn, bro oh, there's shit on the fucking map. I'm tired of these open world games. Mega man battle network. That was announced during the Nintendo direct. That was the only thing I cared about. It'll include which, by the way, I didn't even know there were ten mega man battle networks. That's how poor I was as a kid. I only had two. I thought there were three. I was just about to say the same thing. I had no clue that there were ten. Did these other ones go? I must have missed that. I miss the memo about that. You had them all eat those? No, I've only played four. Yeah, look at the link I put on the show notes. And there's ten of them. Yeah. Just come out. I'm at a Google. Yeah, 'cause I remember I played, let me see it. I think I played. And these are on the game, the final one, if you Google it on Amazon, it's on the Game Boy Advance. These are all in the Game Boy Advance. It wasn't like three DS games or not like that. Oh, so they were naming these, okay, and maybe that's where the addition. They don't like Pokémon games, yeah. It better network two and three white, three blue. Okay, so they split those and then I played four reds two. I think I played one of the blues. I can't remember which blue it was. But I remember I played something blue battle that one. Okay, so I don't even know. I never played dead. That makes more sense then. I'm gonna play all these metals. I don't care what nobody says. They should reboot this shit. This is the best mega man. I don't care what mega man. I agree. I agree. This is my favorite mega man version. I love the show and the games. You play that other bank a man game I told you about? I got it. I just haven't gotten around to playing it, but it was a step from eating, I think. Yep. You'll like it. I never play any of these battle network games. I never really was a mega man fan favorite. I ain't playing any other than that. It's nothing like the other mega mans. It's totally different. It's almost like live chess, like you had these bad chicks, they give you powers and real time strategies. Yeah, it's fire. Or chips and shit. Let's see, oh, E three is coming back. Interesting enough is not only coming back next year, but it was revealed that their new partner read pop will be running E three. I guess it's not being run by the ESA anymore. And if you're unfamiliar, why you should care, read pop or the people who are responsible for PACS, they run that, which has managed to be successful throughout the COVID. They've been getting people out and about into the event. So are we excited the return of E three and new management basically do we think this is going to reinvigorate the industry? Thank you. I mean, it's a tough one to really gauge. While I do like packs, that's a totally different thing than E three, 'cause E three, again, it began as an industry, you know, an injury insider. Event and read pop running this just screams like I'm going to let more regular attendees in. So I just don't know how I feel about that possibility, but I mean, I guess I can say I'm mildly excited that E three is coming back, you know, pending anything that might happen next year that might be rel it. I do want it to still be there. Don't get me wrong way through to still be there. But I was also saying that, you know, maybe if E three wasn't going to either come back or if it does, you know, truly come back next year. It's just not going to be the same. And that really just lead the way for Jeff Keeley and some of the game feds to really continue to grow in itself because it doesn't look like that's going to subside even though E three is saying they're going to come back. So we'll see how this ends up. I was going to ask you when I guess I will get into it with the rest of the GI members later, but if this does end up being a thing besides UT based with the possibility of a G four because I know it's a thing that you almost likely go to like is it something that we want to come back to or no. I mean I'm already here in LA so I mean and by that time I actually just told my leasing office because my lease is up in September. But I want to stay in the building so I was like call me if you guys have any. I'm trying to get a two bedroom, something you guys can just stay at my fucking place if I have a two bedroom. I can sleep on the floor. Again. Hold on hold on hold on hold on. You would just have to get a flight. It would be better than going to a fucking hotel. It's been a thousands of dollars. It's true. What's the name? So to me, I would say if I have like a bigger spot, I would say it's probably worth coming because you wouldn't have to spend that much money to get over here. I'm okay with this event if and I'm okay with them opening it to the people. I've been said though, just make it four days. Two days press two days for the people and the press can actually come on those last two days. It's just you have to accept that you're going to be amongst the people and it's also a great opportunity for people who have maybe smaller blogs or YouTube channels that you can get out there and hustle and bustle and make some plays, but for like mainstream press, give us two days. You know the public can get two days and I think it'll be okay. If they have enough boost and shit, how do you feel about the ethos? Man, if COVID still run rampant and mama could still be in nasty, I'm still not thinking about wanting to go, man. That packs thing kind of was another reminder, man. As me and JG, we're talking about a maybe we'll go to pax this year and then lo and behold, pax east and disaster on Twitter, everybody caught code. And I've been two years clean. I'm going to keep it that way. Same, I'm trying to keep it that way too. I think it comes down to personal responsibility that I'm like, you've been seeing these videos on social media. People will be large groups of people dance in together and hanging out and stuff. It's like, when I go to events, like I keep my interactions limited, I talk to who I need to talk to, I don't touch a lot. Like you can still navigate the problem is most people just don't give a fuck. As long as you are personally responsible, you should be okay. People are way too comfortable. Still. I wouldn't be caught in the middle of no damn mind. I'm comfortable, but last thing I want to deal with is coming up to me with no masks. Oh my God, are you eating those? Well, here's the beauty of it, like the masked

"What's this doing for you for you, Jay, ethos? Do we believe this will actually come out in November? I mean, at this point for them waiting this long and I know what you're talking about at the last 5 years, Corey balrog coming back to Twitter and constantly teasing it and everybody just coming after him. I'm just saying, give me a freaking day, give me a freaking day. I think that this one will be will be here and I think that's the final date. I don't think they're going to be any more delayed. And I mean, I'm happy to say that I'm wrong. I'm happy to say I'm wrong about that, but it seems so unlikely because they just spent waiting and waiting and waiting just been literally hearing no news. So I'm glad they finally announced it. I don't know if this was if this was truly because they were getting bullied into it and they were like, well here, here's the fucking relief date. Like just shut up, stop bothering us, but that would be funny if it was. Like they were like, you know, we're sick of this. We're tired of just holding this news for this long and here you go. Here's the date, this one is coming out, so be excited for it. So I mean, now we have this clash of the Titans I should say because apparently according to Jeff Keeley and The Game Awards, let's things change or he changes the rules of somebody else and he did the rules. This game will be technically eligible for game of the year this year. So we'll see when the game comes out. I mean it's going to be a short time frame for people to really sit there and dive with it because December is leading the next month, but we'll see it's going to be eldering versus God of War because I don't think anything else is going to be really eligible. Yeah. All right. Well, to be honest, to be fair, if somebody who played it, that game was never, even if I'm going to be honest. Even if elder ring and God of War didn't come out this year, I still wouldn't give it. Okay, you would have to give it game of the year off of default because it's a good game. Yeah, it's a good game, but it just doesn't do anything to push the gameplay forward. It's painfully safe. Unfortunately, it just really hides behind high production values. PS5 sail or whatever. And that's where asteroid was going to actually take the conversation because the joke on the podcast for the longest has been. Especially since starfield got delayed, what is going to beat eldering for game of the year. And I'm still going to give the edge to elden ring, even though God of wars and came out for the simple reason that the only I don't expect any type of innovative gameplay from God of War ragnarok. Between all the PS two three and the PSP game, like all the ones that came out and then as well as the 2018 one, like we kind of know what it is from a gameplay standpoint. So in order for it to win game of the year in my opinion, it's gonna have to have like the most immaculate fucking story, bro is gonna have to blow us out like, wow, I didn't see that coming like I can not wait for the next one. 'cause I could be wrong. I just can't see what they're gonna do from a gameplay standpoint. That's gonna just wow me. What about you? Oh I got up 9. Please talk about it 'cause this is an amazing segue. Oh man. And I agree. I completely agree with you. I think it's, it would be insane for people to even think now to set a standard for this game considering it. The game's not even out yet. Even now, I say we really don't know really anything about this game, similar to starfield. We just know, based off of what the previous games plot points were and just a little bit of gameplay footage that they showed a year ago, but other than that, we really don't know what innovations are new things they have changed with the game. We don't know if this is gonna be more 2018 with just more content, which is that's what it seems like to me right now from what I've seen from the trailer. I haven't seen anything in the trailer where I was like, wow, that's old man. I've never seen that before. Oh man, that's like, that's completely different from 2018. It feels like they just took 2018 and they're like, all right, we're gonna expand on this basically. Nothing wrong with that. I had this, I was thinking of a good comparison. And I think I came up with a good one a week ago when I was thinking about this is I feel like God of War ragnarok is gonna be like what mass effect three felt from two than what two felt from one. You know what I mean? Like the change in evolution when you play mask like one and then you go to two is like night and day. Like just the overhaul of how the game changed as like an entity. But then when you look at from two to three, it feels more like a refinement of like the mechanics and the gameplay and stuff. So like I think that's really what like Ragnar ragnarok is gonna be more like a mass spec two to mass spec three than I feel like it's gonna be like a one to two. Nothing's wrong with that, but yeah I just don't my main argument if I was ever gonna argue about why I don't think it's gonna get you to your white is I don't think necessarily it would deserve it is because from the get go we knew that like got a war was inspired by dark souls like Cory barlog was on record and they're like combat guys were on record of saying like dark souls was a big inspiration for why I got award changed. And like why he let Kratos lost a jump, which is hilarious because dark souls evolved and got a jump and added a jump to their formula and it made the game better. And then they got a word to the opposite and they got rid of their joke. That Kratos used to have. So I think it's going to be kind of funny if they add a jump back to Kratos, but jokes aside. I think that when you're basically like the OG that inspired you, basically comes up with its newest iteration and everyone essentially all agrees that this is essentially shifted the mentality behind open world games like forever from this point forward. It's kind of hard to think that like got to a ragnarok is going to be able to step out of that familiarity. I just don't see it. Yeah, it's going to be had to be like some crazy, some crazy. They got to do some completely surprise shit. I mean, it's possible because I mean, if you remember in the 2018, I mean, if you haven't played it oh well, spoilers. Like towards the end when they were walking in that room, they did confirm that Egyptian gods were in that universe. Like pretty much any God is they can fuck with any God they want with pretty much. It seems like. So it's something crazy could happen to where, I don't know, fucking Moon Knight pulls over some shit I don't know. I'm happy to play the game. Like I wouldn't say it like I'm like jumping off the wall excited about it, but like I'm looking forward to playing the game. I really would be very surprised if it ended up coming out and it was like bad. Like I just don't think it's gonna be a good game. It's an unfortunate reality that like any game that came out in the year of elden ring like you just weren't gonna win. I don't think it's just if this was next year or the year before it got to a ragnarok probably would. Let me tell you why two, I think horizon has part to do with this because I feel like horizon played it very safe. I think God a war is gonna play it extremely safe as well. I just don't, I think unless they had delayed the game, I don't think anyone expected all the green to be as good as it ended up being that anyone felt that they needed to make a game that was gonna shift. I'm still confident in saying the ragnarok was can still get if it doesn't get game of the year it'll still be a strong second. The problem with horizon forbidden west is it wasn't just they played it safe with the gameplay. Did you play the game, you thought? No.

"So it's not like four arcadian that sense. There's still a lot of elements to it. Yeah. Like, there's logical mass to the distance. Very forgiving. It's not well. It's not nearly as punishing as or yeah, that's it called. It's the same as FIFA and Madden, where it's like, it can be hard, it is hard, but it's also not it won't kill you. Wow man it does. Frankie mistake. Yeah. But a lot of that is online, especially you'll pay because the other players are good. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, this is really socks. So I'm hoping it's not like an indefinite delay. I'm hoping they have like maybe fall in mind. I hope it's not a full year. Yeah, hopefully it winds up like that. So yeah, I'm hoping that it's just a push into U.S. U.S. open time in late June. That would be like a summer release would actually be really awesome. I'd love that. So it's not gonna happen though. Yeah. Well, it really sucks. That's like E three time. And let's focus on E three and just want to play with golf. I'll be perfect at play while we're just talking. Sure. Nope, absolutely. So soon, are you going to get a pair of Xbox sneakers tomorrow? They do look like these. Have you seen them? They look pretty sweet, don't they? I'm not a sneakerhead, and I know sneakers like that. They're going to sell out immediately and then be immediately put on markup for like $600. Just start with the thousands. Which sucks. But I mean, they look cool. Like the Xbox is not super. Prevalent. It's there. Obviously, the band is very subtle. The band looks like the silver lining. In front of the distract, there we go. And then the Xbox logo. But it looks good. I like them. I like them. And the bottom like the sole of the shoe has the OG Xbox logo, which is really sweet. So Tyler, you know, because we like them that they're not cool, right? Because we're old. Yeah. That's too bad. Look, like, but Jeff Keeley does it all the time. He's like 50 ish. And he comes rolling out in like sneakers with the jeans and the shirt and tires or something. Yeah. You know, it's funny that you mention that because at work, I was sitting on my feet all day and I like to have like comfy shoes on. So I wear so Monday's tie dye for the kids, and I'm like, I don't want to make them wear tie and not do it myself, so I always wear one. So I have like the tie dress shirt dress pants, and then like Nike running shoes on because I'm like, I have to walk around all day. But I realized my loafers were pretty comfy and it looks a little more professional, so I started wearing those instead. But yeah, I don't know if I could pull off the Adidas. The trainers as they call them. If you watch the season two of Ted Las so there's a joke in there about that. That's pretty funny. I'm not gonna spoil it because you should watch it..

Oh yeah not that that will make him any less insufferable waste in the short term. We'll see what the repercussions are very sweet things like when the team all gathered. I was it at the end. Or it's or halftime. I think and somebody scorched over and gave native seat. Yes it's like. This is what the team is like when they're working a team and not like a bunch of prima donnas or a couple of prima donnas and a bunch of also rans like but anyway things are starting to happen way yup unplanned so i always enjoy sitting down for this and even though the reports of this win that were a little hard to watch still very well done at least not one hundred percent downer no mixed as with life kinda mix right so while then we'll move on to our other show which is not at all similar to real life no no only murders in the building. This episode was called twist that because at the end of the previous episode we discovered the oliver and charles discovered that mabel had been lying to them about knowing tocado mcconnell and also at the end of that episode. "Did you miss Jeff Keeley? No. JRPGs for rapes. That's the problem. Johnny? I like the format. It feels like they respect your time a bit more than some of those other events where they had a bit of talking head in the middle, but it was very curtailed. And the content was good. For me, easily the standouts are seeing Wolverine that it's being made super excited. I love the character. And then seeing venom being a part of Spider-Man two, you know, it's also one of my favorite characters. So super excited about those. And it got me thinking Spider-Man two, two spider men. Yeah. Bro spy their Bros. Fight a raw. Also, though, it's cross platform. So we'll have to see if the PS4 or if they do some kind of tethering. Oh, like that, yeah. And the generation is rough. Silver hasn't got a chance to watch it right. Is that what you were saying? So doom? No. What about you? I just watched the highlights. I didn't see the full show. But yeah, pretty much just echo what these gentlemen have said before. It's nice to to see some of these bigger IPs. I also got the vibe that they're starting to let go of the PS4 a little bit and just move towards more heavily. Featuring the tech with the PS5 and some of these new titles. Of course, it's great to see got a war gameplay. Spider-Man, you know, great game. To be cool to check out that. So yeah, I saw the highlights I liked everything I saw. I think that, you know, like a lot of the general consensus right now is Sony's been trailing a little bit behind Microsoft, especially with all the offerings they've had recently on Microsoft's and with game pass and everything like that. And the strength for me with Sony has always been, you know, those exclusives, 5 piece horizon and the last of us and those titles. So yeah, yeah, I'm excited. Silver didn't get to see it. So I'll give mine. I think that it gave people a reason to buy a PS5.

"It's all going to be stuff we already saw just more in depth on it, but there's not going to be. Just building major release from Microsoft, and there's not going to be any major thing from Jeff Keeley. And when I'm wrong, I'm going to be happy. And if I'm right, well then I'm right. And I'll be happy. So, you know, win win for me. Yay, Hayden. So, all right. I only see I can throw out some random, you know, prediction, but I won't buy it. I don't think I don't think games come to be that big. My prediction is that it passes and we go cool. Next week we're like, that's pretty much what we expected. I like Stevens, I don't think it's gonna be that big of a surprise or anything. I would like to see some Resident Evil a DLC. Oh, yeah. I think count fudge D three, but Keeley could show us some residue, you'll see and that would make me really happy. Because I think it's about if they announce it for Halloween, it's a good time. They did say they were working. So now, you know, ready to have got a lot of DLC. I'll take something small, like it's just a small expansion or a small set of areas. You know what I mean? Just a couple hours. But I think, you know, it's August now. You haven't got far to Halloween, maybe say like there'll be an expansion little trailer and then just say it would be around for Halloween. And I'm happy with that. Yep, I'm good with that. All right. I'm trying to think of anything else we could predict here. You know, I think that there's obvious stuff like they're gonna show, you know, Ford horizon 5, of course they are. That's easy. What game do you think we have the best chance of seeing something on out of starfield, fable and avowed? None of none of the above. But if you had to pick one, I agree with you, but if you had to pick one and say there's a chance I guess I guess around doesn't change the closest window we got. It's supposed to be next next fall. You know, yeah. That's 2022. Yeah, so starfield. Oh, did I say it bad? I meant starfield. Yeah. Yeah, I was like, I swear. Sorry, sorry, I'm sorry, sorry. I don't know. Starfield. Starfield is the thing we're most likely because starfield is the closest. Like face off of what we know. We just got to tease on fable and a tease on a vow that the vibes was a little more of a teaser in my opinion. Level of teasers is how we're judging Xbox here. Yeah, I just don't know. None is my answer, but if I have to pick one field yeah, I probably say soft to but I don't want to see it because I know.

"That was always my favorite thing over the last year and a half was how much they hype it and then like the day before they'd be like, they usually sound poor. So let's tone those expectations that we built up down. Right. But yeah, I mean, halo LEGO and I assume we'll see some Eldon ring. Hopefully some gameplay. Though, honestly, I could see nothing until January and be super excited by a day one. I know I'm going to have fun with that. So, I don't know. I guess my expectations are. Already. So okay, and that's probably a good place. Usually leaves me in a good spot. And then these things? Yeah. Well, I think the thing with each story is like it's the pure adrenaline of knowing you're gonna get surprises. Right, like it's gonna be. You expect that. And I think they delivered with that this year. Xbox and Jeff Keeley anyway. First question. I would say gamescom is sitting where it always does. For me, in the sense of I'm going to watch the show when it will kind of tell me what I'm buying on what I'm not buying this holiday. And I'm fine with it. Yeah. You know, if Jeff KV shows a bit of I don't know what's gonna happen. I expect just trailers for a lot of stuff that we know is coming, like guardians, maybe, and, you know, far cry and stuff like that. Just to kind of remind you it's releasing, essentially. You know, a nice surprise in the mix like what we've already had teas. Like Skywalker saga and the saints row thing and yeah. I don't think it'd be much more from Xbox. I expect hanging infinite release date and maybe what we play and use, but outside of that, I don't think it'll be anything like big surprise. I just think they'll kind of go through the road map for the year. No, I don't think mostly like trailers to remind you this like when I was two is this week and stuff like that. Does it need to have surprises? And that's the thing. I'm not coming from a place of that. For me it won't be E three, because games comes always a lot more contained. Like E three is like it's pure adrenaline. You know what I mean? Yeah. What's the problem? You're right. E three normally is that, but it wasn't that this year. And it was four Q. So hang on. Right, let me kind of get through that. And that's why we think this will be pretty good. Because Kaylee was good. Xbox was good. Ubisoft was okay. It was fine. And the rest of it in my opinion was mostly largely trash..

PT will live on for another generation with the PS5 backwards compatibility

"Sony started talking about backwards compatibility and certainly as we've kind of indicated throughout the beginning of the show, a lot of what is going to make this next generation playstation five, xbox series. X, and S A. Compelling, at least at the beginning is the backwards compatibility now Microsoft is. Doing it in a very, very big way. We saw a bunch of of publications have series X on hand and test out the backwards compatibility features of it how it adds. Quick, load times and up resing and You know people who I saw Keeley. Talking about playing blinks on at the the time traveling game I. Think it was original xbox. Title. So. There's all these people playing fusion frenzy on it and getting all these. Crazy You know fast frame rates on these old gains in and seeing how the new hardware handles it well, Sony. FAC about how they're handling. Words compatibility evidently on day one for the playstation five. Over four thousand playstation four titles will be playable on ps five and many of them will or I shouldn't say many we don't know how many. But some of them will benefit from a what they're calling game boost is a lot like the Microsoft feature on Sirius X. that makes current games run with higher or smoother frame rates on next Gen systems specifically, they named checked last of us to and ghost of Sushi Emma go sushi mall in particular the devs have said there will be a a new a new toggle a new option in the menu to enable faster frame rates Siri thought. I. Was talking to her no Siri not talking to you. Do. Enable a smoother frame rates, which is weird to me like why do I need to toggle it? I guess it makes you feel good when you're like, yes. I. Can toggle the toggle but I do the faster frame rate like why would I not want that I don't understand but But for it's a four thousand games that will be backwards compatible backwards compatible. So the vast majority of playstation four titles, there are some notable accession exceptions and there is also this language in the FAC about some games on PS four. May quote exhibit errors or unexpected behavior when played on ps five and Sony is warning that before purchasing any add on's to a playstation four game on ps five tried booting it and playing it on playstation five to see if your quote happy with the play experience.

Hazelnuts could be a climate-friendly crop for the Midwest

"Many people enjoy hazelnuts and chocolate spreads your as a snack and more fall in love with the flavor. The Global Hazel nut market is expected to double this decade. Keith Keeley of the Savannah. Institute wants the American Midwest to help meet the rising demand. He says growing hazelnuts on a large scale instead of soy could help farmers and the climate. Like. Soy hazelnuts can be a source of oil and protein, but they do not need planting and plowing each year. hazelnuts represent a crop where we can have long lived plants with roots deep in the soil, keeping that soil in place, adding more carbon to the soil, Kelly says growing them does not require eliminating annual crops. Farmers can plant the nuts and rose and raise other crops or livestock in between, and that also adds diversity to the landscape, which has benefits for spreading out farmers, risk, and for providing more habitat for wildlife. Expanding the Midwest Hazelnut Industry will take developing more well adapted plants, and it will also entail building new markets for the nuts such as for livestock feed, and even biodiesel, but Kelly says the potential is exciting. It's really an opportunity for farmland to become a sponge that soaks carbon

Samsung's Galaxy S20 lineup packs better cameras, battery life and built-in 5G

"Samsung's doesn't have a monopoly of five G.. Radio's no finds out. They're going to have a flagship the they just put out that. I watched the video. You Know Marcus Brownlee has is the TAB use I like. His videos did a review of that the ultra version so cool ridiculous eighteen hundred dollars. But my God's mad that's under an eight megapixel cameras now. He's nutty. What does that even read a hundred times? Obstacles to 'em writes in and says with the announcement that Microsoft Samsung are quote just beginning their partner their gaming partnership. Where do you think we could end up in the next few years X.? Cloud being installed on every new Samsung phone in TV would would be a huge moves for excessive millions of new potential customers according to the Tister Status Santa Statistics hitter. I've never heard of that The same thing held almost nineteen percent global market share in the smartphone market in q four. That's impressive when you consider how fragmented the ANDROID world is. There's so many there's so many options but yeah I mean I have a galaxy S. ten and I feel like I'm presuming. Samsung is the biggest player in Agile. Yeah that's that that would be my assumption check on that I mean. Maybe it's maybe it's wall way or something you know the US in the US. At least I would Samsung's gotta be that'd be my assumption but maybe there are like there might be some other being fracture and you're wrong because he was like look into it for us like cheaper prices or something and according attack. Samsung is the largest manufacturer with over twenty percent of the market this xbox in the hands of more potential players than playstation now access on Sony smartphones phones and televisions could is this the beginning of strategic mismatch for playstation. What other elements of this partnership? Do you think are possible. And do we think that this is a move for for Microsoft a hedge against stadia integration into into Google Pixel devices and Android more broadly. Thanks and have a great Wednesday. I mean I think it would. It would be to Samsung's advantage advantage to say. Hey and Samsung. Phones are the only place to GATT Microsoft cloud or at least the premium version of the experience. Yes if you have. I'm an xbox game. I'm an iphone Guy and I'm an xbox consoles. I slightly prefer the xbox and if Samsung would just say hey. We're the only company with the only phone that you can get premium excellent experience. I mean I wouldn't. I wouldn't do it. I would never have an android phone but I I would. I would like maybe I'll be at least on the fence about it. That would be. I think the idea of every Samsung device coming preinstalled with xbox thanks cloud right. I think that'd be a huge win and even in a month question here. He's referencing competition against playstation playstation. Now I think they're like as far as competition in this base base. I think playstation now is barely a factor. I think could be a factor in the future if he's not continue continues to improve and continues to android phone manufacturers Samsung the way behind why behind arms made their names. I don't know Xiaomi all PO and companies did you really think about because it because this is outside of the. US can you do it just by the US. Wild Wide World Wide Ham logic. I've never even heard of L. G.. Motorola Rollo Sony's down there. I mean Samsung is like far too. Why that same forty three point six percent of the android space and that does make sense it would be like ninety percent of the once you factor in the IPHONE? iphones a good chunk of them. Okay yeah totally. Three percent of the android market equals like ninety percent of the phone market overall role. Right yeah and so with that idea in mind just running away with it makes complete sense. What this partnership is out here? Did for exclusively though because even yeah like even though Samsung is the number one player ninety percent of the overall market is not enough. Right you want to be an old. Of course yeah. I don't think like I don't think this article Michael Mentions exclusivity anywhere I didn't I didn't get a hint of any anything pointing toward the idea that they're going to be exclusive but the idea that they could have a deal where you are getting Samsung devices like Samsung. TV's amount at Biltrite as the TV. That's yeah that's compelling right there and they they won't be exclusive but they can say this is with us. If you have a Samsung device this will offer the best experience. Yeah I think that I think that messaging for them go a long way and I think that is what makes this partnership make complete sense But yeah as far as like them communing with. Let's see. Is this beginning. Is this the beginning of strategic mismatch for playstation. I think it's already been kind of a strategic mismatch when the GECKO playstation. Now didn't necessarily have. What does that mean a strategic mismatch for playstation? I think I think we aim on is getting at. Is the idea that this would but then when you look at the numbers compared to say Sony phones and Sony. TV's like Samsung Wars. Those numbers is I think. That's why am I getting that but I think that's uh I think that's a problem. Because he is the thing so stadia has a natural partner with android and more specifically Pixel Pixel phones right. Yes you understand why. That's all kind of under one roof. Yeah Microsoft doesn't have any presence in the phone mark any anymore anymore. They tried and they failed now. They're just out said where we will support android now. So it makes sense for them to Partner with the number one player in the Android Loyd market Sony has a natural partner in its consumer electronics division. But like they but that's small time. Yeah that's who has a Sony phone. WHO has a Sony? TV Not that many people. Yeah that's the thing they need to. They might need to find Nick's donal partner and that's why I think like this is less than competition with Sony. Lean more in competition with stadia. If anything right like stadium having like Google Google Pixel being a thing not nearly as big of a thing as Samsung with with android right and Google stadia kind of having a certain amount of mindshare with the streaming space. I think that's where the competition is at. Even though it seems things warm more by the day stadium kind of eating their lunch right. They're kind of tripping over their own their own feet with each passing passing kind of decision in new story. We see about stadia not working or making bad decisions or doing. Ama's that don't tend to work out well for them like project. X Cloud seems to be doing all the right things. And you know there's even another news story coming up about another streaming beaming service that you know there this this space currently is kind of messy and it's kind of fun to watch because we're seeing people kinda climb over each other and try try to become at that number one spot Whether it is in like mindshare or like even in the partnerships and actually getting the absolute on whatever devices you have whether you like it or not so far. It seems like X. Cloud and I'd say probably INVIDIA G. Force are kind of Invidia G. for surprisingly are kind of like the two front runners for what services are going to end up successful in this thing but even then like I could see I could see a feature where like nobody. Nobody comes out on top because this str- streetlight video game streaming is still hasn't become as many thing yet. You know what I mean. You know. It's it's going to be enough. Another iteration of the platform was you know. There's no one clear I mean. Seventy is kind of a clear winner right now but Mike still really in the game. Nintendo's obviously a very Bigger deal than the newsletter three-horse three very healthy horses in that in that race. Maybe maybe Sony need to give Tim Cook a call. Do an exclusive collusive Team Up. Hey the best way to get the best way to get an exclusive playstation experience playstation streaming is on the iphone really think about it apple and Microsoft all rivals. They can't work together. I don't take Samsung and apple arrivals. They can't work together. Sony Oni and apple though they don't have any particular beef. Maybe they team up for this. I'm not crazy. There are Sony phones right. Yes see they run android. Yes the Sony. Only have a tiny daily advertiser are some of the most beautiful phones. Go from every time I see the new Soni you need the experience I still have. Those new ones are those. The industrial design on Sunday finds gorgeous. Yeah they they have always run like shit. Yeah that's the problem. Suli run shit that being said the latest one that came out which I can't remember the model number now but like that phone Enforce it doesn't work for sprint. Otherwise they'd be the phone I used. It's the prettiest screen of ever seen on a phone gorgeous. Yeah they're still plugging away but not the playoffs does not work with sprint. So that's the point. They they need they need to either. Just put it out there equally for. Everyone say he will support all devices or they need or they need a partner. This thing with monks outta pondering Samsung Apple might be their best bet. I could see it number two jeff. Kelly is it producing e-3 coliseum.
