"I'm Joe Matthew, along with Kaylee lines in Washington, welcome to our two of sound on and Kaylee it's nice to see you after a long weekend, although I saw you repeatedly over the weekend on television. Deny you. Qualify how long it really was, but look, there's a deal. You would think that there might be a moment of celebration surrounding a deal since we spent weeks speculating on it. This elusive thing, it actually happened. While you were having dinner on Saturday night, and I've heard largely nothing but criticism from lawmakers, I guess on both sides of the aisle ever since. Yeah, well, by nature of this being a compromise, it means that on either side, there are going to be some members unhappy, including the far right, who would have liked to see deeper spending cuts, a bigger increase in defense spending, something more akin to the bill that the house actually passed. And on the left, those stricter work requirements for entitlements, some of the energy provisions within this are also drawing ire. So it kind of is a nobody wins scenario, although in theory, if we avoid default doesn't America, when Joe. Well, yeah, actually, you could argue the global economy is the win here. We spoke with Debbie wasserman Schultz earlier in the broadcast Democrat from Florida, used to run the DNC and ally of Joe Biden's. She is a yes vote. She's helping to convince progressives. She said, even though there are things she doesn't like in this bill, she wouldn't have written it this way. We got to vote yes. You're pointing us to a headline here, speaker McCarthy thinks his job is safe. Yeah. We have no reason to doubt that, although we did, I guess, get the first motion here. Is that real? Or talk of introducing this notion? Yeah, congressman Dan bishop of North Carolina, who is a member of the freedom caucus and was at that freedom caucus news conference. In front of the capitol earlier this afternoon says that you do have to file that motion to vacate the speakership. There's just a question of, a, whether that actually becomes reality and then be what kind of support, realistically that could get when we've heard a lot of conversation show about how it's only us journalists that are really asking this question and that no one is actually talking about trying to kick McCarthy out of having the gavel. Enter Dan bishop. This is a career

"Kaylee a couple thoughts at first you're right about the Supreme Court We've had a number of substantial wins on faith on firearms on Chevron deference which is a big deal I mean the regulatory bureaucratic state These are big issues They may not sound like it but they are I mean we effectively have the bureaucracy running the country right now I'm going to ask you quite a kind of already know the answer to it but I just want your thoughts You think that's behind me recent attacks air quotes on Clarence Thomas with these nothing burgers to he took a vacation with a rich guy My gosh everybody in Congress basically any human being with any connection ever would be out of a job if that were a crime That's what they're trying to do Discredit the Supreme Court because they can't use it anymore 1000% I mean that's what the media does They pick someone who's a successful conservative I mean I'm sure I know you've had this in media I certainly had to ask press secretary If you are succeeding in making a difference with your voice they will call you every name under the book They will make up things against you They will investigate clarence Thomas but of course they won't look at Sotomayor Kagan or ketanji Brown Jackson or anyone else They're only going to look at Thomas and Alito and Roberts in the like When meanwhile they should be focusing on where the smoking gun is And of course I'm talking about Hunter Biden and the Biden family But no journalism there instead the New York Post who hasn't done the only journalism there really they are left out of a White House event That's how it works You don't subscribe to the mob mentality URLs

Kayleigh McEnany: Combatting Critical Race Theory & Segregation

"In the last segment before you came on Kayleigh we were discussing the story in the Washington times about how colleges are moving towards again segregated graduation ceremonies Now Kaylee I don't know about you but segregation is a pretty bad idea I am reasonably confident knowing you like I know you're like wait no that doesn't sound good We shouldn't be doing that but we're going back to this craziness again because as your book hits we're not anchored in any sense of morality anymore These liberals are just dissolving any attachment to God or anything like that Yeah well said I mean I write in the book about education And it's too prong And you just nailed it I mean there's critical rates theory and then there's critical gender theory And on the prong of critical race theory is this belief that you are evil by nature because of the way you are born in your skin color that the white person's the oppressor in the black person is the oppressed and it's this continuum from the moment of birth So kids are being taught this and it's wrong of course and we disagree with it But then you go to the segregation element which I also write about because there's an Atlanta school where a mom named kyla posey said that they were actually segregating kids not a graduation but in the classroom by race and when she raised a complaint about it they said oh no no we don't do that and they fix the problem But how wrong you know Brown V board of education separate but equal is inherently unequal What are we doing as a country And on the gender issue I mean you know people say it's about LGBTQ No this is about parents rights Being involved if a child wants to transition their gender in professes this to a teacher there are statewide policies that keep you from sharing that with the parent and some of these blue states and how scary is this This is about parents rights

"Joe Matthew with Kaylee lines the answer is always no, Kayleigh, that there is no path. Check back next Congress, but of course, we wonder what the appetite is across the country on this. We've seen a little bit of polling, but not a lot. It's particularly in the wake of the collapses and just how much people would like to see, for instance, FDIC insurance caps move or the stress tests be applied to more banks. Yeah, well, because we know that the American voter and consumer and banker has been paying attention. We saw how deposits were moving around in the aftermath people concerned about the stability of smaller institutions that may not be too big to fail, so therefore moving their money around and maybe the American people just want to know exactly how safe their banks are and what can be done to make them safer in the form of greater regulation perhaps. So we've got new data, new research and it's an exclusive from Bloomberg government working with data for progress, the progressive change in institute. And so we've got a couple of voices here to unveil this right now on the air. One of them will be familiar to you. That's Emily Wilkins. Of course, our friend and Bloomberg congressional reporter at Bloomberg government, Emily, it's great to see you. Thanks for coming in, who put us in touch with Danielle, dice Roth. Data for progress is executive director on the new research. So Emily, I'm going to start with you here because you cover Capitol Hill. I won't ask you if there's a path, but we have learned something here about what Americans would like to see happen. Yes, and what we've learned is that Americans either really strongly support or somewhat support having some sort of regulations to come as an outcome of this. And I think that's to some extent a natural reaction. You see that a bank fails, that's not exactly a feel good sentence right there. And Americans want to make sure that they can trust their banks that they can trust their deposits and they do want to see their lawmakers doing something. Now, you have seen, of course, you're Elizabeth Warren's get out there, say that there need to be some sort of regulations. You see those seen a lot of Republicans kind of be like, hold on, let's wait a minute. You know, shock surprise surprise Republicans are not big fans of regulation. But you have seen Warren and actually with a couple of Republicans on bills that could burger cops lead to more transparency, might not be regulations per se, but so there is some interest in really addressing this in Congress really showing that they are taking this seriously and that they are doing something, even if it just winds up being hearings looking into exactly what happened that led to SVB collapse. Well, and maybe that is exactly the kind of thing that constituents would like to see Danielle to bring you in here, run us through the numbers. How in favor of additional action from Congress additional regulation are American voters. Well, voters across party lines, so Democrats, independents, and Republicans all by very significant margins. I mean, by plus 60 plus 79 point margins support Congress taking action to strengthen the rules for banks to make it less likely that a similar bank failure will happen again in the future. So this is really cutting across party lines is what we found in this poll. But I think one of the more telling aspects of the poll is just how little folks have been hearing about the Biden administration's actions to contain the fallout from SVB collapse. You know, we saw that overwhelming majority of voters hadn't heard much at all from the Biden administration about what they're doing to help prevent an issue like this in the future. So I think there's a real opportunity for not only folks on the hill. The usual suspects, but also for the Biden administration to really be a champion on this issue since voters are so hungry for it, and they also just haven't been hearing much about it. Boy, that's really incredible. And Kayleigh, we've talked so much about the silence from the Biden administration since that Monday morning before the opening bell when Joe Biden came out and said your deposits are safe. So Danielle, you also asked if you support or oppose the administration's creation of an emergency fund to ensure all deposits, what did you learn? You know, we found is that voters were supportive of this to make sure that all of the deposits were covered, but language makes a really big difference. When we called out that this is an emergency fund to protect folks investments, that was viewed more favorably than when we said, you know, there are also some billionaire tech companies that have been involved in this bank. So really interesting needle to thread in the narrative around this bank failure in the residual effects is the involvement of big tech, which has been really under the ire of lawmakers across party lines in recent weeks and voters increasingly expressing skepticism towards the wealth and the omnipresence of big tech in our lives. So while cracking down on banks and making sure that they're a strong regulations in place is widely popular, it's making sure that the average person is not going to experience this failure. And I think there is some real tension about seeing already very wealthy and profitable companies continuing to get relief from the government whenever they need it. So it's an interesting point you raise about how language matters and kind of the information specified matters and Emily, it kind of raises this point. I mean, I was fielding a lot of calls from family members in the aftermath of these bank failures. How did this happen? Can you just explain to me how it is that a bank faces around like this and fails and it kind of raises the whole specter of just oversight of supervision and maybe around the deposit insurance question that's a little harder for people to get behind on the hill, but the supervision area seems to have more of bipartisan consensus around it. One thing that I found really interesting and you've heard this from Patrick mchenry, that we're kind of in this new era, where it used to be that if you wanted to withdraw money from a bank, you know, you go back a hundred years ago, it takes days, it takes weeks. And now we all have apps. You have the instantaneous, like you don't even have to go to the bank. All you have to do is pick up your phone, which you already had in your hand. And so he is kind of thought into that regard. Is there ever we had a point in our society where we really need to take a look at how the Internet and digital has influenced banking and is there something that we need to do here to prevent some sort of a run on the bank, a Twitter run on the bank like we saw with Silicon Valley. So that's one area that I think, you know, in the Congress has a

"Why would you do that? <Speech_Female> Yeah. You know? <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> But I low <Speech_Female> key still think will's funnier. <Speech_Female> Will <SpeakerChange> is funny. <Speech_Female> Well, it's funny, but I feel <Speech_Male> like at the moment <Speech_Female> he's a bit on eggshells, <Speech_Female> he's lost his confidence. <Speech_Female> So I think <Speech_Female> because of that, <Speech_Female> he's not at <Speech_Female> his funniest. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> I think we should <Speech_Female> give it to the girls though. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> We're doing girl power <Speech_Female> today, so <Speech_Female> let's do it then. Let's <Speech_Female> do it. <Laughter> And what about <Laughter> best grafter? <Speech_Female> It was <Speech_Female> settled on Shaq <Speech_Female> for this one. <Speech_Female> I mean, I <Speech_Female> think where is the best <Speech_Female> graph there? Because I think <Speech_Female> as soon as he comes <Speech_Female> back from Castro more like <Speech_Female> his speech, <Speech_Female> like the way he dealt with <Speech_Female> it, was just a one <Speech_Female> the way that he's dealing with her <Speech_Female> emotions a <Speech_Female> one. I think, <Speech_Female> yeah, I think well <Speech_Female> is the best grafter. <Speech_Female> I also <Speech_Female> as well. He was graphed <Speech_Female> in just a month. <Speech_Female> And <SpeakerChange> I didn't even <Speech_Female> expect that. You know when he first <Speech_Female> started speaking today, I thought, <Speech_Female> oh, he's making friends. <Speech_Female> And then they started kissing. <Speech_Female> Wait. <Speech_Female> It <Speech_Female> happened so quick. You know, <Speech_Female> you're like, I really need to <Speech_Female> rewind this, but <Speech_Female> then also I don't want to get lost. <Speech_Female> Yeah. So <Speech_Female> what's <SpeakerChange> going on? <Speech_Female> Yeah. I agree <Speech_Female> with that. I'm going to say wolf for <Speech_Female> best grass. <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> Okay. <Speech_Female> So finally, <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Female> who wins the award <Speech_Female> for couple goals. <Speech_Female> Again, this was a <Speech_Female> win for tenure and shack <Speech_Female> at our first <Speech_Female> masters. <Speech_Female> <Speech_Female> But <Speech_Female> what are we thinking now? <Speech_Female> I <SpeakerChange> think Kai <Speech_Female> and sanem, I'm not going to <Speech_Female> lie. <Speech_Music_Female> My wholesome <Speech_Female> king and <SpeakerChange> queen. <Speech_Female> Yeah, they haven't <Speech_Female> had like a super <Speech_Female> test yet. <Speech_Female> But I just love the way <Speech_Female> she's riding for him. <Speech_Female> He's like, <Speech_Female> I'm over Olivia. <Speech_Female> I'm moving forward with my <Speech_Female> full focus. Everything <Speech_Female> they're <SpeakerChange> just doing it <Speech_Female> right for me. Yeah, and it's <Speech_Female> just fun and flirty, you <Speech_Female> know. <Speech_Female> They're <Speech_Female> both into each other, <Speech_Female> but they're not <Speech_Female> taking it too seriously. <Speech_Female> Because they don't really have to, like, <Speech_Female> they're only like a couple <Speech_Female> days in. So it's <Speech_Female> like that fresh puppy <Speech_Female> love, you know? And I <Speech_Female> think that's cute. <Speech_Female> <Silence> <Speech_Female> I like them. <Speech_Female> Yeah. But like, <Speech_Female> kind and I'm just <Speech_Female> like have each other's backs <Speech_Female> fully and <Speech_Female> then just like, <Speech_Female> I don't know. There's <Speech_Female> a difference. <Speech_Female> I think it's <Speech_Female> like the freshest <Speech_Female> couple. It's been <Speech_Female> smooth. And <Speech_Female> so far, for <Speech_Female> me, I think <Speech_Female> it's kind of <Speech_Female> a plot twist <Speech_Female> though. <Speech_Female> But those are all <Speech_Female> our winners. This time round <Speech_Female> for them after <Speech_Female> very nice and I reckon <Speech_Female> we'll come back to those <Speech_Female> one last time before <Speech_Female> the series is out. <Speech_Female> But for now, <Speech_Female> we are seeing a massive <Speech_Female> thank you to you, <Speech_Female> Kaylee <Speech_Female> for coming on. Oh, <Speech_Female> thank you <SpeakerChange> for having <Speech_Female> me. I've had so much fun, usually. <Speech_Male> I feel like I'm at <Speech_Male> home <SpeakerChange> talking all the <Speech_Male> things. <Speech_Music_Male> <Laughter> <Laughter> Because you see, <Laughter> you know, <Laughter> it's great. <Laughter> I'm here in real life. <Speech_Female> No, <Speech_Female> I don't know. <SpeakerChange> You genuinely <Speech_Female> been an awesome guest, <Speech_Female> Katie. So thank you so <Speech_Music_Female> much for coming <SpeakerChange> on the pod. <Speech_Music_Female> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Music_Female> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Female> Okay, so <Speech_Female> moving on continues tonight, <Speech_Female> guys. <Speech_Female> Do not miss <Speech_Female> it. <SpeakerChange> Yes, <Speech_Female> and we'll be back to dissect <Speech_Female> everything tomorrow <Speech_Female> on the board. Kaz, <Speech_Female> thank you so much for <Speech_Female> being on today. Thank you for <Speech_Female> having me, honey. <Speech_Female> Absolutely. And you guys <Speech_Female> know it. "I have to say through this whole experience, I have learned that I can do anything in life. I put myself out there on love island. I feel untouchable. If I could cobble up with any islander from this entire series, I would actually pick Spencer. He's definitely my type in terms of looks, and also I just like the fact that he's got a very mature head on his shoulders. He seems to be quite adventurous. He loves the ocean. Yeah, I think we would have gotten along very well. Anyway, a massive thank you for my love island experience, guys. I'm sending you big kisses and sunshine from Dubai.

I mean, they did go on a date. Yeah. What did we make of it? It was cute. Yeah. Maybe she's compatible with someone that's more chilled. He's been right to be fair. When I think of it, max was being really sweet and respectful around the situation. I mean, in their conversation, he did talk about how he sees it working on the outside. Yeah, he did. Like, he did. The girls, they've been really backing Olivia and given her the support that she needs to do this Kai drama. So, you know, we love to see it. Yeah, you know, so power? Yeah. We know, especially has what it's like to be in the villa. It's nice to have that sort of support in that place. Exactly. I know. Yeah. Yeah. She's the only girl in this villa from Casa Moore, right? Yeah. How do we think her encourage relationship is actually going right now? I think really well, to be honest. And I think that it's not too awkward with her in the Livia. And that also feel like when they're doing too much, people are not too much of my man, actually. Totally. And I respect that. Yeah, I've noticed that as well. Like, she genuinely is like, you know what, guys, she shot it down today. She was like, everyone needs to move on. She was like, that is enough. Enough is enough. And I think car has done a really, really good job at reassuring her. And he's been quite protective over her. I'm like, this is actually like, it's a very sexy relationship. I love it. I'm like, you know, I want a man of protects you and has your back. Now guys, last night, we also saw some more fallout from the knowing me knowing you challenge. And I think of thinking. You're massively overthinking it. I think that but I'm not stupid for thinking it. No, of course not. I just need to know that definitely no feelings that salon anymore. There's absolutely nothing there. Well, I laughing at me. I'm just being honest. It's not silly. No, no, it is because it's not so far. Me and Lana get along now and all it is is friendly. I really don't want you thinking you are, you are second best because you're not. No, I'm not saying this to anybody. Obviously, she said you guys had a connection. I'm gonna say I could have said to her, there was a bit of a connection there in this sense that I kissed the girl and I was being influenced here. A hundred percent on the first day. Lying is a make or break for me. Well, well, well. What do we think of that lady? Do you know what, yeah? I know you shouldn't lie, but sometimes white lies are needed. In case you should have just white lied when it comes to saying Lana, because you already was coupled up with her before, you knew that she was you put Lana on that board. You're going to have problems just lie and pick someone else. Anyone else just not the goal is coupled up with before. This was your one life free card that you could eat. You literally. And one thing about Claudia, she's gonna pull you up in that. She's not, she's like, hang on a minute, rewind, what did you say? Yeah, I mean, make that make sense to me. I think it's fair. I don't know if it'll be on the rocks for sure, but it will be on the rocks to the point that if I can have a bombshell comes in, that none of them are staying loyal to each other. Yeah, and then we got the old running Lana, you know, smooth sailing. I think anything's gonna come out and moving out about these two. I think it only possibly be people questioning Ron and thinking he egged on everyone else. Yeah. But I think all Lana would probably say he's like, do you know what, yeah, that was wrong. Yeah, you should have done that. But I don't see anything happening. That's going to break them. Like him egging me blind, but I didn't think it was bad. Yeah, oh, I didn't think he was proper egg in them on. Like I never noticed that in previous seasons I've noticed it straight away. He was doing it in like the girl way as in like, for example, when he was talking Tom, it was more of a go with your heart. And do what you think it's going to make you happy. You don't think about the other one. Yeah. But he wasn't like saying, yeah, go in for that kiss. I've got bad memory, but yeah, I don't think it was anything crazy. No. Ron, do those proud. "It's one thing when someone tells you what's happened. But when you see it, I think Shaq's going to be revisiting those emotions and then also replaying what's been said to him by her. So like anything that doesn't align, he's going to be like connecting the dots. So I understand why he was struggling. Because it's not easy to watch is it, but then you did actually tell him a lot of what did happen. So it's also kind of like I mean, so do you think Tanya's in the right to be defensive though? Or she should just be like, look, I'm sorry, it's not nice to see. That's just your back down, I think. I think she should back down to be like, do you know what? I'm sorry, but I think no matter what happens, even if someone tells you something, you're going to nitpick and be like, well, you didn't say this part. Do it say you look them in the eye. You didn't say this. You always still going to find the reason to be mad, because you want to be mad. Yeah. I agree. And do you know what? Her being defensive, I understand because she's just calling things out as they are. And I think it's her guilty consciousness in there. And I think also everyone's watching and she kind of just like, I told you, I told you, like, she just wanted to be over. So I think she just wants an escape, and that's why she's being defensive, but I do think she should apologize. I really hope when it calms down, she just says it's straight. I mean, they seem to get over things Tanner and Shaq. So I feel like this is something that will have a nice conversation about in all blow over. But yeah, I don't know, though, because I feel like ten years defense with him is quite high at the moment. Yeah. I mean, because maybe deep down inside, she did know within her soul that she did have a connection with Martin. But then she did admit that. She did. She said, she's been unsure about what she wants to do. Yeah. But I think for her as well now that she's decided to go back with Shaq to then see on the screen herself kissing Martin is obviously not nice for her to see as well because it's like, I don't even want to be with this guy and I got to watch all over again. That is such a you know point and also you know when you've done something wrong because the situation they're exclusive instead of love you. I think it's one of them was where she's going to have to sit down and be like, oh damn, like I did that? Yeah, that's me on the scene. I didn't think I was. Now I'm like, but yeah, I don't know. I think it will allow her to be a little bit more self aware in the situation. I don't think she's doing things with ill intent. I think it's just she's not recognizing where she's genuinely gone wrong. She's just written the vibes. Can we just take a second though to be called Martin?

Also helps them with buy in. It helps them to understand what's the point of doing this. Many kids will just do the practice and feel they get the point already that if they feel calmer now, okay, I get it. But some kids need a little extra help to understand like, why are you making me sit still and breathe, you know, as I trace my hand. So if you can get them to articulate in their own words, how it can be helpful, really helps with the buy in. I love this. I love this. Well, this is all incredibly helpful. Maybe we can do just one more strategy, a simple strategy before we let you go, Kaylee? Yeah, definitely. Belly breathing is another strategy that we really like to use with kids. So you place two hands on your belly. And you can close your eyes. And imagine that you have a balloon in your belly. And as you inhale, try to fill up that belly balloon. And as you exhale through your nose, just let it empty. Inhale, try to fill that balloon a little deeper. Exhale. Inhale, feel your belly pressing against your hands. Exhale, feel the air leaving your belly.

I'm just pointing out that last story. Would you give out your airplane seat for a mother and her baby? One Reddit user saying, hell no. He and his wife paid extra for seats with more leg room. And when they were boarded, the woman next to them asked him to switch seats with her husband so he could help her out with the baby. The Reddit user refused, would you have switched seats? I just took it all the time. Yeah. I do it all the time, but I get because she paid extra for this. It's almost like if you're sitting in first class and somebody comes over and says, hey, would you switch with me? You're gonna be like, dude, no, I would say, you know what, if you pay the difference, you could have my seat. 100%. Yeah, I would say the same thing. I mean, I totally would, but I could see how people would be like, I paid for the seat extra. Yes. Why am I gonna give you a more expensive seat, you know? I mean, okay, I usually just go on and do it. If it's a baby involved. If it's just two people and they want to sit together, no. But anything that involves a child, I will definitely, you know, 'cause I'm ready to do this 'cause I'm sick of you. And I'm gonna give you one to see. You can have one. To protect yourself. "Because you don't see that that often But there are so many people now who are are just. They're pushing themselves to actually want to become beekeepers. Because i because i was able to share with them how gentle they can be and how you know docile. The be is actually are. I do realize like don't always trust him. Yeah i fully concur. I think it's fascinating the way. She invites people to really share her life with her. There's quite a people a bunch of female beekeepers on both instagram and youtube. Who have built a very large following letting urbanites and suburbanites sort of live vicariously through through their adventures on the land. I'm not sure. I would ever feel quite so comfortable sharing the day to day of my of my life online but i think it's fascinating that they do it and i think it's really important as more and more people become removed from the land to have this sort of touchstone somebody who can tell them both the hardships and the joys of living off the land fifty years ago i would've loved trying that but I'm gonna watch from now on like creature comforts too much i take it. "A bonus you know to keeping bees. Oh i fully concur so so. Many urban dwellers probably dream of living the life you have. What can you tell them about the joys and hardships of some of the many conveniences. We take for granted Well i think this day and age. I think i would you know. I've i've been very vocal on just if you have a dream if it's in your heart if you think that that is something that you wanna do at some point in your life do it sooner than later and it doesn't mean you have to like sell everything you have right now and just go and start a homestead or or whatever right. Now is the time that i that is very. It's very beneficial to start mentally kind of preparing and researching and educating yourself on you know. Pick a topic you know even if you're not doing it at that point Starting at starting now just learning because right now is for people who are in transition. They got a five year. Plan you in five years. I wanna go hidden start at homestead. Leave the city. I want to move out out to the country and have a garden. Have my have a few animals there. So much that you can learn and the five year time period and i don't think a lot of people realize that that you don't have to necessarily start Start researching and doing it as soon as you get the land. That is something that i do when i express because there are people who treasure map just like i do you know. There are people who searched to prepare mentally before they actually jump into it and and have it and of course learn as they go. There's nothing wrong with learning as they go but it is. They're taking the time to start to educate prior and start to learn prior is it is vital. I mean it's very beneficial and it helps. It helps especially when it comes to learning about purchasing land. You know we had some some guidelines when it came to where we were purchasing. I wanted to make sure that. I had water on our property. I wanted you know woodland pasture land you know. And when weep fit when we found the property that fit all of our all of our little boxes For us that was like okay. Let's go this is it. I took five minutes in the house. I'm like cool. It's got a bedroom cool. It's got a kitchen all right. We got a bathroom. I want to go outside. And since we've moved and ben here Most of our emphasis has been building up the structures Getting the barn played doing the high tunnel adding the greenhouse building. The raise beds you putting the fencing in for the animal as we do a lot of rotational grazing Between the pastor and a wooded land So it's just that was kind of in our like this is what we want. This is This is what we want to do to plan. Our future with salad. Seems like a very smart approach. I would imagine some people probably have the dream of home studying but don't really know as as you knew exactly what type of land they wanted. And they may end up purchasing the wrong property or at least one that's less suited to what what they're trying to do. It sounds like you guys are are making it work for yourselves. And i would imagine the pandemic has your homestead is a good place to spend it in. It probably hasn't had as much of an impact on you as has had for other people. No it definitely has it. And and i i feel. There's a part of me that. I think that's kind of why i really pushed my took the time to actually push my youtube channel. A little bit more is. Because i what what i started seeing. Was you know people were commenting about. How how my videos were their escape. You know how. How my videos were just a breath of fresh air to be able to like just live a day on honey said you know going experience what i'm seeing through my eyes and and it didn't really dawn on me. You know how much i felt like okay. There that was kind of the push that i really needed to kind of continue to share our story in shared just a little bit because even if i'm You know it's a lot to do a video. It's allowed to put out content and be creative and actually kinda think like okay. This is what i'm gonna film on. Sometimes i go out there. And i'm like this is what i'm gonna fill them all on and then something happens then like you know what no. This is the message. I need to share today. You know this is somebody at somebody needs to hear it. I don't know who it is But when you start reading the comments from people and and just the fullness of the opportunity to just that was my escape from all over the world Peanut people from italy who it just it. I knew that there is a reason why needed to continue to share So that's that's kind of where. I'm you know why i keep doing it. I think you certainly bring a breath of fresh air in a very upbeat at the same time. Realistic perspective which i think is. What's so nice refreshing about what you do. I i always end with with sort of one question. When when i'm doing these aac you had to pick a pollinator to be. What pollinator would you choose to represent yourself online one hundred percent Be and you'd go with the with the episode left the hobbies lutely all right. The there certainly hard working and they are joy to be with. I think everybody should have the opportunity of opening up a hive at least once in their life. It's sort of. It's such a overwhelming experience. In many ways right it looks so chaotic and yet there's ordering the chaos and i love the smell in the sound of a colony. It is very therapeutic. It is very relaxing. And and not something that you know. I again just sharing the hive inspection sharing all of that. There are so many people who are now people sharing that they have been deadlier deathly afraid of bees and never wanting to be around views and then coming and seeing a gentle side. I the gentle side of of beekeeping gentle approach to beekeeping. The just. I didn't mean to i. Didn't i guess when i started beekeeping in youtube i didn't i didn't know that my appreciation might just that gentleness was coming through. It didn't dawn on me until people were like. You talked to your as i talked to my as you know. And that you know and i didn't realize what i was doing until after and i was like. Oh okay you know.

Sorry it's been kinda busy winter for me. It has been a very very frustrating new year. If i if i will say so. The united states postal service is wrecking havoc with my with my delivery of my magazine but other than that life is good. I empathize completely with that. It's been a total disaster. I sent out a follow up bailing to all my new subscribers of that had signed out after my autumn issue went out and it might mailing out december seventeenth from my printer and only nine percent of those issues have shown up on on where they belong so i am reset reset all of them. Just just this week. I was i was. I was reading an article in the new york times just this morning. That sixty four percent of the male is long. It's been right now. Well welcome everybody to the new version of us. Postal service today. Podcast we really. I'm glad you joined us so onto bees begin. It's the end of january almost beginning february the almonds Productions all set up and ready aren't take him cures. The are i asked. I actually got invited out to all that. I wish i could go. But i have a bunch of stuff going on which makes the travel impossible this year but i have never see i have never witnessed the almond blue myself and that is on my bucket list. I will make it one of these years And i i. It's something i wanna see. I mean one point. Eight million colonies all in one one. St pollinating our almonds eighty percent of all production. In the world is pretty incredible. If you think about it it is when you when you when you walk when you walk two or three miles in you're surrounded by bees and blossoms it's a it's a. It's a once in a lifetime feeling for some of us. I've been there a couple of three times but it's It's the same every time to two miles. Two million biden with him. I'm gonna. I'm gonna need you to write that tagline for me. That is cool. Yeah it's a good one Well the beezer bringing in olympia. I'll just twenty minutes before we started recording. I was out in the yard. And they're bringing in Pollen already saw. They're finding somewhere forty six degrees outside but the sun is shining so they're out there finding pollens somewhere visiting skunk cabbage in hell laborious and whatever else has decided to brave the winter months that that early pollen's really really important. Colonies are brooding up as soon as the days start getting longer abuse starts thinking about expansion. So it's no surprise. Keep an eye on your honey stores. Once they start brooding they really tear through their heading stores. I i've got scales on the high side. Been watching it pretty closely. Just for fun skiing. Guys it's twenty degrees and snowing out as i'm sitting here i don't have i'm currently in connecticut. I don't have my own personal beehives. Which i do very much miss but It has been absolutely beautiful. I've been what i've been watching the ducks instead. So not quite as not bring in pilot but they do have some funny years ago. I was living in connecticut. And the first time i had been there and on christmas day i had dandelions in my front yard. That is impressive. That the hell. Boris are blooming. And the rhododendron. You can already see all butted out. Yeah it's fun to see. All sorts of new things are starting up. Now we have on beekeeping today podcast listeners. Haven't been out to our new website. Go back to the website and leave have a sign up for future email Mailings and for updates and notices so make sure you check that out and kim you've been working on a new podcast. Yeah the The honeybee obscure podcast is up and running five programs up to jim too and i just sitting around talking bs and We've talked a number of things already. Emergency feeding and some things coming up that you haven't seen yet we've got Stories on the nectar flow. And we put together so that it's it's how netra flows work. It's not so much where you are. But how no matter where you are is how nectar flows work. Were doing one on losing swarms. Something i've never done and robbing behavior and again that set up so that no matter where you word applies to robbing not season. And we're doing one on smokers. Believe it or not. And i got a thing for smokers i like the smell of pine needles smoke on my clothes at that waft. At the end of the day. I enjoyed jimmy hates it. So we're gonna talk about smoker so that's coming up and stay tuned. Honey honey honey bee obscures. Take it off a funny story about a smoker. I was. I was working hives in arizona and i had to stop and buy duct tape at home depot. So i'm checking out at at home depot. I'm paying for my duct tape. And the cashier sniffs the air a couple of times she goes and then she said who wild flowers up wildfires again and i'm i'm sort of sheepishly like falling into my pants because i know i know there are no wild fires out there. It's just me. I smell of of old trees. So yes you can you can. You can be mistaken for a wildfire if you're if you've been working bees but kirstin you have a podcast. I'm launching a to william blossoms podcast to let me talk about all things pollinators while i love honey bees and will always be a huge advocate for honey bees and also fascinated by the much. What wider world pollinators and all their interconnections and. So i have been interviewing some of the world's leading experts on everything from scientists like dave wilson. A week ahead a chance to chat. Bumblebees and neonicotinoids to photographers. Who are tracking out to wild. Remote places to photograph are insects before they disappear and today i just recorded one with the pollinator specialist. The desert botanical garden in arizona. So lots and lots of diversity of topics. I interpret the topic of pollinators. They're very broadly so from the greedy science to the arts and culture as well sounds like it should be good. I'm looking forward to seeing it. And i liked it. I liked the topic. Did with dave wilson and one of your recent two million blossom magazines david. I talked about mechanical vs on mechanical pollination and we we Went back and forth on that. That was fun to do. He's an interesting fellow. And what's really interesting is. That series of articles was actually taken into a college classroom and so in the winter issue. My letters to the editor are excerpts from about eight different students who responded to that debate really yes it was pretty it was it was fascinating to see their different takes on it. Good while you're there cursing of your interview today. Who do you have for us. Yes i had a chance to speak with kayleigh richardson. A she runs.
