"Quarterback that's right everybody's justin fields wear number one or trevor lawrence. Now you've got knocked jones. And then how about this chase winovich outside linebacker entering his third year alongside fifty set all right. I'm going to hand it over to unique. I know can't see all these guys right now but you can still stay with confidence in new england. Well i'm gonna. I'm gonna have my respect for the guy that had it before so i'm going to go mike vrabel because when i first arrived in new england i knew that if i was blessed enough to get that number. I had some big shoes to fill so mike gravel. I would say war best won three superbowls every single ball. He caught offensively was a touchdown. I think i don't know how many touchdowns twelve touchdown something crazy So my best. And i'm going to say i wore it second best job. I would say. I'm going to stick with the linebackers. Winovich is third best. And you see a quarterback where a number fifty. It just looks wrong. It don't look right so a. I'm sure when it comes down to the regular season. We won't see mack jones in a number v uniform. I can guarantee that all these patriots four patriots of being way too humble for my liking today too many guys just you best think. Go rabble wound care. Mike okay. I oh they do what they doing and their way too monetize way over man. You could say you war. Of course. that's what i'm saying swaggie so we've decided to break out our most creative names for segments this year with its better worse or the same game which we decide whether a team better worse or the same. I think what that one for a while. We be getting tennessee. Where the big addition for the off season was julio jones but they also added several pieces on the other side of the ball including debris janoris jenkins and first round pick kayla farley plus nico autry. It didn't jonah. Smith and corey davis as well as cornerback. Adoree jackson and malcolm butler both cut jadeveon. Clowney is also gone. After just one season as a titan a lot of activity. I ask you first marcus. The titans better worse or about the same. They are absolutely better field. And because of what. You just don't wanna defense out of football. Obviously we know about getting. Julio jones but between bud dupree who was the premium pass rusher and to nico autry and you think about the guys that the guy they drafted and cave kayla farley. Who might have been the best corner and the draft. Had it not been for backed back operation that he had and we jack rabid is in the defender on outside makes plays all over the field but they needed pass rush and they addressed it and i believe they have a budding star as well. That remains on this team. In jeffery simmons who is a big physical in interior pass rusher who can get to the quarterback but also demanded on the run. This defense got better. And that was the titans downfall. I expect them to be better this year. As a whole and it's not gonna be such a cakewalk for the colts in this division. Swag who i agree with you. Marcus i think that you are one hundred percent correct. Were you can improve your defense. Especially your pass rush. That is going to give your offense more touches. And you know the tennessee with the amount of ground. And pound with with henry and the ability to run the football and then mixing the plaques. And past i think that adding pass rush helping the defense last year. They struggle getting to the quarterback. We all saw that. They were in the bottom of the league when it came to getting after opposing quarterback so they can increase the pressure. statistics defensively. I think they'll be better team. So i agree. I think that they have improved this offseason. And i expect big things out of tennessee this season while we all certainly can't wait to watch that offense. We'll move from tennessee to baltimore where this off season the ravens look to address their wide receiver issues signing sammy watkins and free agency and then drafting rashad bateman in the first round. They also retooled their offensive line. They treated the way orlando breath. Junior they acquired alejandro villanueva and kevin zeitler. Of course they also get back ronnie stanley but they did lose a big piece on defense in that judah. So named i ask you the same question. The ravens better worse or about the same as where they were last year. Look that's a tough question. i'm gonna go with. They stay the same. And i say that because you bring in older receiver who is it. He's not a young guy right. Then you bring in a rookie and it's hard for rookie to come in and make a huge impact year one. I mean look a rookie. He's got to go through some bumps and bruises and learn the system and and the speed of the nfl so you look at the receiving corps. They were lacking some weapons. And you get a little bit older receiver. You lose. Sneed you get a young receiver a rookie. But still i think that addressing the office of why things can help but at the of the day. It comes down to lamar. And how well can he perform in those situations. We saw last year coming back against cleveland. When he came out of the tunnel and threw a touchdown pass. He's going to have to carry this team. We all know that. But i think they really stayed the same when i look at just their overall roster in what they did this off season degrees which rob stay in the same day a playoff team again so is not all doom and gloom for the baltimore ravens. And when you think about what rob just said if bateman or sammy. Watkins can increase production in the passing. Game that will be tremendous for the baltimore ravens. But stay in the same right now because you lose yanni in way and matthew judah who got two guys that could get after the passer defense may take a hit as far as rushing the passer but when you think about the baltimore ravens i. I must say this until the cows come home if they can evolve the pass game and they at least made an attempt to get better at those positions between resolve bateman in the draft. Sammy watkins coming over as a widely veteran san play some really good football for kansas city. So i don't want to throw sammy watkins out to the board. But he's definitely going upgrade. What they did at why receive. I think baltimore stayed the same but they have the potential of being better. It just depends on how fast those guys come along and sammy. Watkins rashad bateman. Both those teams are of course chasing kansas city in the afc and it was a very busy offseason for the chiefs soup. Uti overhauled their offensive line adding potentially three new starters. They're getting right guard. Laurente new dubernard cardiff back after he opted out last year over the did lose former top overall. Pick eric fisher quarterback bushrod breeland. And we just talked about sammy watkins. Plus mitchell schwartz. So swaggie will come right back to you. Are the chiefs better worse or about the same. The chief of benfield and one the chiefs better because obviously they upgraded this offensive line. But i believe they also be better because they acknowledged what happened to them last year in the super bowl and even me picking them to win the championship knowing all i know about football when they were trying to piece together an offense of land against the best defense in the nfl. I was stupid. Because i thought patrick. Mahomes could overcome net but obviously they self evaluated understand where he's protected. You got a shot to win in the game. When he's not he's going to have to be superman and a lot of other things are going to have to go whale. I like orlando brown. I like tony coming over. And i liked.

"And, you know, I know, you know, we've had conversations on the quarterback position quite a number of times in in Tennessee and you know, since taking over, I think there's this misconception because Ryan Tannehill isn't In terms of armed tail, and he's not the Josh Allen. He's not the Patrick Mahomes or that Aaron Rodgers. But I think the misconception about his ability to throw the deep ball really extends around arm strength and not really around the accuracy of his deep ball. He is one of the more accurate If not, I think, maybe last last two seasons, one of if not the most accurate, deep ball passer of throws, 20 plus yards air. Through the air. He puts it into a bucket. And I wonder, you know, and some of the quotes you heard from Julio or like I want to go play with a quarterback that is going to go throw the ball. Let me go get it. I'm going to run past defensive backs. And although that may not fit the bill for Tannehill, like you're just going to overthrow defenses, and he's going to throw it past defensive backs. I think there's an argument to be made that he might be one of the more underrated You know deep, all pastors and all the leak. Yeah. I mean, I think that definitely holds true. And I mean, you look at just off the play action the way he's able to place that poster out and just make the guy accelerate to two football. That's next level. When you have the ability to make the receiver, you know, run faster, like he doesn't have to slow down. He has to speed up to get it, and that creates separation. So absolutely He's really good on that, and that's the thing right, you know, last year You have to leave around looking over the last two years, Believe, Raymond, I don't even think you ever heard of them. But this guy hit on like 4 to 5 deep shots, including a touchdown against the Ravens, you know to put them up by two scores. In the divisional game, And then even you look at the Colts game towards the end of the year. They hit him on one and that kind of sealed the deal on that. So now you're going from Cleveland Aimin to Julio Jones. That's just going to get even better. And then just the kind of further drive the point home. Josh Reynolds said. One of the reasons why he wanted to sign with the Titans was because of Tanika and he was like man. Tannehill will put that thing up there. Yeah, and you know, listen, I think at the end of the day we could. It's It's exciting to talk about this offense. I think there's a lot of facets to it. There's a lot of layers on how they can be defenses. But I mean, listen at the end of the day, you cover the team. You know this more than anyone. I think the questions now turn to the defensive side of the ball and listen. There was a lot of the Titans. For being a team that I feel like is going to be a contender. This year. They had a lot of player movement. And I mean total inverse of the bills where the bills kept everybody. The Titans had a lot of player movement. I mean, they moved a ton of defensive backs. No ordinary nordo rejects and they move on from from Malcolm Butler. What is this team look like in the defensive backfield. And do you believe You know, And I think I was actually recently funny enough talking to a Titans fan. One of my buddies that lives here in Buffalo is a big Titans fan. He was telling me Listen that the defensive backs that they had last year there's in his mind. He's like the only way they can go is up. He didn't think that they were very good and they were over paying guys and they moved on, and they've got younger guys to replace them. What is your confidence level with this defensive backfield are you may be concerned that it might hold them back from from maybe beating a team like the Chiefs. Well, you know, let me tell you this, your friend. That's the tightness, man. You ask him if he subscribing to ESPN tightness Page and you also asked him if he subscribes to talking with TD on iTunes. Spotify Global. I'm sure he does. If he's not, you better slap me. He needs to do that. But no in all seriousness, talking about that that defense and you mentioned how that secondary has been re vent. They gave up 36 touchdowns last year due to air that was the Second words in the league. And that is atrocious. So you definitely when you have $10 Million.1 guy 14 in another and six and another That's why they're going. So you bring in Monte hooker as a starter now, not a reserve. He moves up to be next to Kevin Buyers. You have Christian Fulton second round pick entering year two. He had an interception A couple O T a s ago pick Tannehill off, and he's planning on having a big year. But then you look at the rookies right? Elijah Molding is going to be that nickel guy, and he's a very NFL ready player. You watch what he did at Washington. Just the way that he could play. You know, I told him I talked to him. I had him on my show. I said, it's buy one. Get two free with you because you know you could play nickel. You can play outside and you can play safety and you do all those pretty well. So that's something an end of big the big factor. It's Kayla Farley. And if he could get back to how he was ever in your tech now, and that's an if because, you know, backs are funny, like a fickle thing. So you got to be careful with it, but he seems to be on track. Be able to get where he was. Green, the second procedure. He was a 4 to 6 guy. You know, right? Right before that in March. He was doing that. So I mean, if they could get him to where he needs to be That is going to be a tremendous boost to that defense. So I think you know, when you look at the secondary, they have to be more aggressive and you love to hear Kevin buyers say that you know, he said, we had to get up. And challenge receivers a little bit more, because when you give them a free release, it's like take going against the bills. Right. You get step on a free release off the line of scrimmage. I don't care if you're Jesus. You're not covering him. He's going to kill you. You know, And so that's the thing you've got to get up and you've got to challenge them. And even doing that, you know it's still difficult, but when you disrupt the timing, right, you get that chatter at the line. You disrupt the timing. That makes Josh I don't know whoever the quarterback is. They're looking there because typically that's going to be the first read, but they're going to come off it. But when they come off, and they progressed further through their Reeves, guess what? That dust Gives the guys up front a little bit more time to get home. And that's really important because you know Donegal artery. But the pre these guys you know, combined 13 sex coming to attend a only had 19 sex. Which was the third worst ever by a playoff team. Yeah, and I think the defensive lines kind of the next place to really talk here. Tehran because, listen, they go out and they draft for shot. Weaver, too. They really, and this is Listen. This is a Mike Vrabel team. You know, if nothing else, this is a team that's going to put assets into the defensive line into that front seven and they certainly did it. And this goes beyond just this last off season. I mean, we're talking about Jeffrey Simmons. Now going into what?.

"A couple of corners. They lost three corners, actually and free agency. They start with Kayla Farley. Obviously a big question him his medical. I'll say this to Titan's fans. Dylan Radiance is a completely different guy than I say Wilson after spending a week around him, you're getting a totally different, different dude. He is a buttoned up squared away. Tough, mean kind of, um, not his wild is Taylor Lewan, but he plays like Taylor Lewan in terms of how he gets after people. The big question Mark in the division is Carson Wentz. What's he going to be in Indianapolis? I think Chris Ballard. Well, we all know what a great job he's done. They're built a tremendous roster. But where? What what's Carson gonna be? Hopefully getting amount of Philly change of scenery little more laid back in terms of the media pressure in that market. If Carson could get back to being close to what he was that MVPs season he had and whatever that was 17 or 18, or 19, whatever year that was Yeah, it's gonna be. It's gonna be a two team race. But right now you got to say Tennessee is the favorite. Because at least we know what they got under center with Dylan talked to him on Monday. What a fascinating human being. They grew up in a small town barrack. Er Well, what if something like that Minnesota His pops passed away early on in his life. So when you grow up in a small town like I did, Folsom, Louisiana one traffic light really didn't need it to restaurants Raising Gus is rain and gusting like each other. I mean that small town living and Who's talking by the way, but he went after his dad died, he said. I was raised by about 500 dads and about screwed up. Was gonna hear 500 different ways on Dhere really took to that and that that kind of built his core. And he told us the other night. He has not lost a football game in six years. No. When you win eight of nine titles of the FCS level, like North Dakota State doesn't mean you're not gonna lose many football games. But he is undefeated for six seasons. We asked him what was the last loss? He damn near went play by play in the fourth quarter. I mean, it was hilarious. This man, you don't want to beat you. He wants to hurt you well, and he is going into somebody Tell of the one is somebody that's really becomes sort of. Ah, stable mentor for a lot of the guys on that line on a certain way to approach football, So it'll be interesting to see how that plays out for the Titans. A lot of risk. Caleb Barley is a prospect. I think if he's healthy, spectacular, but if not, they could risk two years in the road, getting nothing under the first round pick. All right, we're going to swing back over to the sports Nations Guys. Sports Nation Guys with Trevor Scales field. AIDS and my goal of junior over on the digital side. If you're watching on the live stream and up next year, we're gonna go to Mike Ross. Teen Falcons Nation reporter will do that. Next. "That's right first round of the nfl draft. So glad you're with us tonight hanging with the fellas in hanging with you as we have hit Let's see eleven eastern now officially in this first round the titans are on the clock. Pick number twenty two had some action in this verse while had some trades a few of them as a matter of fact involving the nfc east you heard a couple of those on the clips coming back and now the titans about to make their selection as we get to the bottom of this first round here and you know most of the big time stars are off the grid and now roger goodell steps up to make this titans spec really talk about intrigue left this. There's still one name that we thought was going to get chosen earlier won't go here to tennessee. But there's still sitting there. That is a team. I'm like man. There's still that one guy left. I'm either minnesota's nude. I'm trying to trade up with the minnesota but i know minnesota need offensive line. The one guy we even kind of lodge more but a lot more you could see down here but man dour the one guy of all the guys we had. We're a little surprised that still edgy. Said look through my list. Go on who we missing here kayla farley very high let me tell you are hey kayla farley out on online i listen. He's just now gone to injury injuries. Saying though i mean the guy is in the draft. And he's going ready to go first round. I mean you still gotta give him a little bit a little bit of back in the past. But yeah i said that to you earlier you gave me that. Same answer right sues we only say as my number twelve guy on my top my big board number. Three number three cornerback. But you know what he takes. It takes a it. Takes a team like a tennessee. Titans would a guy like mike vrabel to see. Somebody's trashes their treasure. I mean why not voice over guy. A lot of money can we hear him announce.

"Who are that though size. Dimensioned in ben productive. You just can't find him. Seven harrison was over one eighty at the combine back in nineteen ninety six so not not many set not much sample size there with dante smith. Now it doesn't take much to watch his film and get excited about what he offers. You also factor in started double digit games each of the last three years. No major injury history to know that we can really talk about as being something that could pop up. And the fact that he's one of the toughest most competitive players in this draft pound for pound probably been a lot of two hundred and twenty five pound receivers in this class. So it's an interesting it'll case Is with these teams and how going to view that some teams are going to be out. And there's gonna be some teams in the mid first round crossing their fingers that a player like devante smith would follow them. I think there are a few players in this route. When you factor in the medicals. The really tough to figure out kayla. Farley is the perfect example at virginia tech. I think he's the most talented defensive player in this draft. A former high school quarterback goes to virginia tech a wide. Receiver moves the corner Three years ago and he's a natural he's six to thirty three a quarter at germs four three speed outstanding bursted the agility natural ball instincts. But you know he's got an acl jazz and seventeen. He's got to back procedures over the last three years. The durability the red flags it it's really tough to figure out where kayla farley could go. He could go sixteen. He could go thirty six. I would not be surprised at either outcome when you talk about the medicals and how different teams are going to weigh those. I think we're gonna see teams. Maybe a little more conservative in this draft just because it's been so uncertain throughout the process. No combine teams are still getting some of this medical information up right now the week of the draft and so we might see teams lean towards being a little more conservative in the players. They just have a better feel for at this point by the way just about forty five seconds left. I had a gm. Tell me it's a. It's a good draft until about the middle of the fourth round and then it changes and then it's a lotta guessing you tell you guys have opted out just for a minute left. How does this compared to last year's draft the field the high end the low end. How's it look to you dane. It's a smaller pool of players. There's no way around that We have ray just under a third of the total players usually have so the free Free agent market after the draft completely wiped out. And it's gonna be fascinating for future years how that affects next year when we have more players in that pool house. The nfl going respond. But i think that's fair to say rounds five six seven Your we're gonna see some surprises..

"With the eleventh pick in the two thousand twenty one. Nfl draft the new york. Football giants select rashawn slater offensive linemen northwestern. I think it's a great pickup for them. You think about it. They need help along the offense alive but they also need help along the defense allies. So they decide. Maybe if there's a. Mike parsons out of penn state sitting in this spot mill. They could take him but when you look at this molar at northwestern slater's a big strong offense alignment nice point of attack great feat. He's a physical specimen. You gotta have guys protect valujet out of is the answer for the future with saquon barkley behind him in the backfield. Yeah he's there. I agree with the pick. One hundred percent. This offensive line is holds the key to everything. The giants do good or bad. This year holds the key to dave gettleman. Joe judge is going to be around but daniel jones and they've gentleman are tied together and if it doesn't work then you're getting things change in there and i think certainly that offensive line andrew thomas in to better be a really good left tackle. He's not at least slater can play left tackle. He can play right tackle. He's got experience in school at guard so he's at versatile and versatile piece that the giants would love to get if he were there. I don't think will be there. But if he were there would be a great pick hoping for better performance. Thomas did struggle as we all know in year one and let's round out today's with the twelfth overall pick here sal paolantonio with the birds with the twelfth. Pick in the two thousand twenty one. Nfl draft the philadelphia. Eagles pick devante smith wide receiver alabama. Now this is gonna make jalen hurts very happy. They knew one another in college played with one. Another and the mandate is to help jalen hurts in his second year. It's gonna make nick serianni the rookie head coach. Also very happy remember. The eagles gave up sixty four sacks last year most of the national football league one way to mitigate the pressure on jalen hurts with motion shifts formation variation. Smith fits in perfectly for that interesting. Pick here at twelve. I guess you gotta take the best available on the board at this point. They took jalen reagor a year. Ago didn't quite work out. It's an incomplete grade on him. But how can you pass on a dynamic flying wire receiver at twelve given the fact that a young quarterback needs to grow with a weapon. Devante smith he can return puts. The only thing that i don't like is he six feet one hundred and sixty six pounds soaking wet. So i'm a little nervous in terms of that. I understand the marvin harrison but marvin harrison was closer to one ninety all said and done opposed to one sixty if the pick. I think you're getting the third best player in the draft. You're getting a guy will compete. You're getting a guy that you could have taken it six and nobody would've had a problem. You move down to twelve and you still get devante. Smith mentioned jalen. Reagan passed on justin jefferson. And take he's got to be a lot better than year to south talked about the offense. A lotta decimated by injuries even before the season began so they gotta get healthy and they will be and certainly hurts to devante fiscal. Be a great pass. Catch and moving forward as it was at alabama and as for smith the splendid splinter to devante speth. And they also have to replace sean jackson at top speed that they thought they had a year ago. And don't sleep on that number. That sal mentioned sixty four four sacks of game that is in credible so that is today's k. j. z. mock draft we are now through the first twelve selections in the draft. Thanks to everybody who helped out today. Tomorrow we'll go thirteen through sixteen if you're wondering just to wet your appetite early. That'll be the chargers. The vikings as mentioned the pat sitting at fifteen right now in the arizona cardinals at sixteen. That's tomorrow let's get back to the phone lines. You've got questions for mel. As i said yesterday it's like an ama on reddit. You can ask mel anything. Draft lies here. we go tommy in chicago. Ask anything okay. Good morning guys. Probably guys doing good. i wanted at gartner chicago bears. Let's say they do not move up in the graph they stay at twenty. Do you seen the second round. The targeted quarterback right probably meals. Trust mind or do they wait till like nastier when a j. t. daniels come out Gabriel from u. c. l. Sam how proper expensive rattler. Even the young kids from usd. You see them waiting to that year or wouldn't you think they're gonna do they. Move your audit. I mean you should be my assistant here. You've got some great names you brought for next year's draft. I think when you look at a guy like spencer rattler. I think he'll be the number one quarterback coming out of oklahoma. Sam how north carolina be the second highest rate of quarterback. But i think the bears this year when you think about where they are. It's andy dalton or move up to get one of the elite five. Take kyle trask. Kellyn mon- davis mills. Jamie newman i roy. A wake forest slash georgia didn't play. Georgia was really good at wake in two thousand nineteen when sage. Sarah and underrated receivers catching all those passes. You can probably get him in the fourth round. So i think this this organization has to win. It's andy dalton. For now i think to get better or challenge or feel like we've gotten the guy for the future. It has to be one of those elite five. They have to move up to get one of those guys. Indeed newman opted out as did many big stars. We'll see how it all shakes out. April twenty nine. May i c. j. in utah. Ask mel anything size. How you doing good. So you've been rower. Urs do you think arizona might pull the untried move up saying thirty cal tits telling defenses or telling divas you better try and stop less. We're gonna outscore teams and or even. Just get enough or do they stay at sixteen and get a coroner like jc horn or kayla farley. Yeah the kayla There's gonna be interesting coming off that injury. The back surgery opted out this year former quarterback wide receiver and had a great year corner in two thousand nineteen. I kyle pits is going to go very high. I think there's another tight end that can you can move around kind of like pits temple..

"At number nine in the ultimate mock draft. I'm cody war. Coast of lockdown broncos and with the ninth overall pick in the two thousand twenty one locked on nfl mock draft the denver broncos. They selected jc horn quarterback on south carolina. And this is a great addition for the broncos were vic fangio and the defense despite the team's offseason moves in free agency of signing ronald darby to a three year deal and kyle fuller to a one year deal this move makes sense for the broncos to go best player available and when you look at the long term outlook at cornerback for denver. Kyle fuller's here on a one year deal. Bryce callahan deal. The broncos will be up after twenty twenty. One endeavour has to evaluate how they want to build in the future. This is a great pick for the broncos with horn hornhues athletic measurable. 's test off the charts. He's a fast physical and very smart. Cornerback that will fit very well. In vic fangio's defensive scheme now some of the other players we contemplated kayla farley but due to some concerns with his medicals opting out of last season he recently had back surgery even though the broncos interviewed him in the pre draft process. Jc horn seem like the best pick for the organization at this time especially in a tough afc west division or they have to play patrick mahomes and although receiving talent they do have okay. Now we're starting to have some fun matt going away from a consensus big board. Here cody going with the first defensive player in this mock draft a going with cornerback and not the one who's consistently mocked number. One patrick sutan no go into south carolina with j. c. horn. Yeah and denver. Did some things corner already including adding fuller. I thought this might be mike. Parsons we we often talk about. How vic fangio covered covets. A stud every down linebacker. I thought slater might be somebody. That would mean mike. Check would welcome with open arms. It's put them somewhere on that line. And i would have guessed 'certain before horn but warn is big physical nasty. I mean a tremendous athlete. And this stock seems to be skyrocketing right now absolutely skyrocketing and his demeanor the more you watch him. I think the more you like. Jesse horn and his workout numbers. Fantastic running sub four fours on certain watches with super long ours and and that physical attitude. He brings the position to a little bit too. Which i think sometimes coaches do like when they see their db's with that attitude and the way he plays jc horn go into the broncos at nine jason lockenfora with his thoughts on selection. Awesome heart is clearly one of the best corners in this class. Is he the best. I don't know. I think it depends on what type of defense you're going to play and what you expect him to do. He's not someone who excels naturally in run support vic fangio usually once a lot of that out of his corners but certainly has the ability and coverage to play any scheme you want his ability to blitz and get home doing so has to excite the broncos but personally patrick certaines a little bit bigger i tend to favor that a little bit in my corners as well and if the kid from virginia tech fairly didn't have some of the medicals i think he'd be hearing a lot more about him being the first corner taken regardless. Jc horn won't have to wait long to hear his name called. Whether it's from the broncos or someone else the denver broncos who have been searching for a starting caliber quarterback since peyton manning hit the wall. Well yes they absolutely should consider quarterback here. They should be very willing to move up to get a quarterback if necessary and if they do in fact come away with a corner from this pick it very well could be opportunity lost. I don't believe justin fields is ultimately going to slip that much. There others out there who will tell you he might. Denver should absolutely be there to break his fall. If in fact that is the case even amac jones i suspect would have some injury to them as would trae lance one of them again could very well be there. They're under new management anymore. This is not just john elway and his evaluations of the position and frankly elway has suffered to find someone to man the position. This new office by no means sold on drew lock. Yes indeed denver. Better be and should be thinking about quarterback. Chris gordy actually covers the entire. So he's going to talk about this election for the broncos with jc horn from south carolina at number nine. Hey guys chris gordon here from locked on. Sec and talking about a south carolina gamecocks today. Jc orne expected to be one of the top defensive backs taken in this draft. He was a three year starter. Only played in seven games here in the sec. Teammates decide out. After wilma camp was let go. He did have to picks that levinson sample sizes. You're really good. Cover owner fit probably just about any scheme at the next level. It's got a good bloodline good. Pedigrees the son of former saints great wide receiver. Joe horn the. Nfl looked. you can never have enough good cover corners at jc seahorn projects to be really good with the next level in patrick surtout of alabama. They're both going to go in the first round. he really can't go wrong with either of them. But i think own could be really really good. The highest draft of south carolina gamecocks out of out of south carolina since two thousand fourteen david and what number one overall. We'll keep an eye on. Jc horn see where he gets drafted. This year's draft joel merino. And kyle crabs from the draft news podcast. We've got some fun. Picks to respond to hear. I up the carolina panthers at number eight despite trading for sam darnold they go ahead and snag. Trae lance to add to this quarterback room. And i'll tell you what it's definitely a hatch right. if sam darnold. They picked up that fifth year option. And it's kind of a two year deal with sam darnold and what they're going to have to do at the end of two years this figure out what direction they want to go. And that could mean letting. Sam darnold walk because he didn't quite meet expectations. And if that's the case they certainly have a guy. That's talented in trae lance that you know maybe isn't ready to play right away. So gives him the time to develop in I guess the real fascinating part of this pick is going to be what happens two years from now. You wanna talk about hedges. The denver broncos they bring in kyle fuller in free agency. They bring in. Ronald darby still drafting. Jc horn the corner out of south carolina. To play in this vic fangio defense and listen. There's no such thing as too many corners you're playing in division with patrick mahomes justin herbert looking like he is going to be a force to be reckoned with with. The chargers. Pass catchers for years to come so denver. He identity this team with a defensive minded coach rightfully so is on that side of the football. Jc horn is going to give the broncos an extension that. Make sure that even if you get guys banged up bryce callahan. It has some issues with durability. Ronald darby has some issues with their ability. Regardless with this edition you are going to have the corners you need to handle or at least try to handle the firepower in the afc west the dallas cowboys on the clock at pick ten markaz mosier and landon mccoo standing by the hosts of locked on cowboys. A corner surprisingly selected at nine cornerback almost always the mock draft selection here that i see for the cowboys at picton. And it's usually patrick ser tan. Who was not the selection right in front of them. Could it be that. Maybe everybody secretly does like horn more and was stolen from.

"Think we've all talked about patrick. Like how he's a big name and topic of discussion for the cowboys. Where i was talking earlier i feel like a lot of people were surprised with the jc horn performance. Because it'll every time we've talked. It's been kind of the same name it's been like pencil and you've got like the cow. Patrick ser tan a kayla farley. Those guys that are just typical in the run in the conversation of cowboys. Jc worn had himself a pro day and wind. Jet cavenaugh of fan in our brand tweeted out of comparable side-by-side stats him in patrick sir tan a. They're pretty damn similar. I noticed that someone got like one extra wrap in there so if you wanna know who went i that day growing up to two five a little more. I don't like one. I'm gonna get nineteen instead of eighteen clearance. Like he's that's motivation. He was like. I gotta beat this guy. I couldn't even do one rep of five. So that's what i like especially like when db's and 'cause benching is first of all it's really not important at all but it's more important that you're like more powerful positions like defensive and offensive linemen so like you know a corner or a wide receiver will throw up like five reps of two twenty five and like everybody in the media. And twitter's like off weakling. Like you get you get on the bench and throw up to twenty-five guy like i have my doubts that you could. We should actually do that. No we should not go through the process. No my life is. I've can't lift. Seaquake been approached about doing a fake combine. Before i would say it happens like every year. And i always say no. We're studying opportunity. Kostin in grad school. Right now. And i'd love to know because there's a price for everything over a lot of money. How much. I don't know five figures. I'm just saying i've been known five together at solid gofundme if you can throw me like ten to fifteen. Jeez to make an ass of myself on the internet do not. I'd probably do it do this. My life is enough of a joke without me tripping during my forty or not being able to do one rep on the bench. Pull his back in the exactly exactly magnified. Who's going to have to hear about that for. I am reading this man to get earl. It's true true thirty two on six thirty five. Where were we my shortcomings as.

"Everything went off a zay Tell you what a great move that was. But you know this is strengthening an area that is valuable and that they needed So I think it makes perfect sense. I also love getting a running back on the cheap one as good as Mike Buddha's a couple long that often But you know you do what you can. And yes, I love that RV move. I think it's exactly what you want. Do it raised So if Johnny Smith, his Bitcoin does that make Ronald Darby does coin and are we going to the moon? I have nothing to dispute that Beautiful analogy, so I won't You cannot. You can use that on your podcast Feel like we just sectioned off a part of our audience. There's like three people that like you're talking crypto. There's the other 97% of them out there going like why? What is? What is he talking about? Right now is a nerd. I'll pitch you another one, which is to take advantage of people that misspell things, and I'm gonna I'm gonna start blood going. Yeah. Come on. I'm you know what? I'm here for it. You know, it sounds good, you know? And in light of dish on Watson's, uh, you know, allegations we're gonna skip right on past that. And what I was involved with your so ridiculous. Yeah. This is the family hour just to remind everybody although, although my kids probably got a nice little chuckle out of that, George Daylight savings time I thought we were already into the the PG 13. We're not doing this. Just trees don't Please don't. OK, So you like the Ronald Darby signing now, the broad Goes likely need to go get another cornerback at this point, because it's still a room that needs just, um, or death. They might need another starter in this mix. So I guess the pure the Broncos and you're sitting here at this spot where you brought in Ronald Darby. You're gonna probably go into the draft and get a corner as well. How are you attacking this next wave of free agency? Yeah, I think the draft. Obviously We've talked about this, the potential for going and getting, you know young players, especially in the in, You know, the back of the Of certain rounds. I thank you that later in the draft, there's still there to be had. I mean, you know, it's interesting, interesting names out there that that I will throw out. Um Desmond King is a guy who You know, we've seen play really well in the right. You know, Scheme in the right position with the Chargers obviously fell out of, you know everything you know of love there and then in Tennessee that didn't work out, but we've seen him do it before. He's the kind of guy you want to take a shot onto these proven he can do it when put in the right place, but is gonna have really low value in the market because you haven't done it lately. No Adoree Jackson was just cut. Um and then you know, Richard Sherman is the guy that's out there. Who, um, I think Richard Sherman can still play really good football. And you know, you might be someone that is going to cost a little more, but he's gonna provide a ton for your team, especially a young team. So I do think there's still value to be had, especially in the quarterback market. It just depends how you look at the draft prospects and whether any of those guys fix field is going to be. You know, some of the considered your scene I was Richard Sherman could probably fit into anybody's keeping that type of player, though. Um, so it'll be interesting. I do think there's still moves to be made. What is your question is somebody is somebody put pitch this to me today and asked if they were asking a vic would be interested is moving. Richard Sherman. You know, I don't think he would be a corner in this scheme. Would Richard Sherman be interested in taking over Karim Jackson's role is safety in Victor Vic Fangio system. That's so interesting. I mean, I had the pleasure of seeing Richard Sherman every single week and listening to him on the podcast that he does cover us with Cris Collinsworth. And yeah, I've learned a ton. The guy is easily one of the smartest. People, not just football players that I've ever talked to you and there's a part of me that has seen, you know a guy who is really aware of the moment. Um, but also one that's not ready to, I think totally pretend he's you know, he's transitioning on from corner like I can tell that he still has a little bit on edge to him. You know, there's a part of him. That feels, man. I really want to win a Super Bowl at that position again. Um So I go back and forth on it because he's the ultimate, I think team player. He's so smart, and if there was one person that could convince him to, and I think he has the smarts. You don't always have the speed but has the smarts to be elite. At that position. Vick will be one of the few guys that could convince him so. I would say. For most places, it's probably a nonstarter. But maybe in a couple of something that he didn't least consider, even if it's not a full time move it first. I'm here with George Story from pro football focus in the latest mock draft. You guys have out it Drew ah, few questions because I on but I'm gonna frame this in a way because I don't want to actually hammer Pff for this, because oftentimes we're always looking for somebody Do something a little bit different, right? I mean, we're like, Oh, my gosh. How many marks will be seen with Kayla Farley or Patrick's Retain? Oh, and Trey Lancer. I mean, we've seen so many marks, but you guys went with for Shawn slave. Her outta Northwestern and offensive tackle at number nine, and I got to be honest that the initial response for me was like, Oh, no way. I mean, there's no way they already have their five starters. They just signed Gara pulls to this big contract to on James has to play this next year. You have response later sitting on the pine, your first round picks sitting on the pine this year. Then you think about it, you say well, Launches probably be gone the next year. We're Sean Slater is an absolute monster at offensive tackle. Everybody saw that video that went viral of him doing the lift, so Actually, I don't hate this. The more I look at it. What do you think? You know if we've learned anything, and we should have learned a lot honestly, from the Bears over the past couple of days past couple of years, whatever time bring you wanna you wanna wide to? You'll learn something from them. But what hopefully got hammered in for people is that the Worst time to go get somebody is when you're really deal, and I'm talking about the bears a quarterback, and I think you can apply honestly, to a lot of positions. People just have a hard time looking ahead and seeing the simple fact that things change and they change really rapidly. And you're always better to prepare. Especially it really important positions. Um, you know, a year ahead. Quarterback is always when we talk about, but I think it applies really well, the tackle and too often, teams don't think that way. And I would say this about tackle that I think it's you know, probably gets swept under the rug a lot, which is The difference between what you pay a great tackle on their second contract. I mean, did you guys just see what Trent Williams got versus? What they make is a rookie is dramatic. And so you get a lot of value out of having a really good rookie tackle and you're not always in a position to draft them. So if you feel is the response later, is You know, really, really great. I don't see that either. It wouldn't be the pick that I would make. But, um, I also know I believe you're talking about Brad Spielberg. Er, r R caps, experts mock draft. You didn't put that. In fact, I just had Dinner with him a few hours ago, and I really respect the way that he thinks about the game and always has a forward looking, you know, mindset, and so I see where he's coming from with that, just like you do. Yeah. Like I said, there was your people that got a little weird about it. But honestly, you're right. The last thing you want to be doing is telegraphing. Hey, we absolutely need to go out. Offensive tackle being your head. Not about ideal in the Broncos or so over leveraged in terms of money right now, both tackle positions with James and bowls that really need to get out in front.

"Trading for Matt Stafford or laughably unrealistic things like trading Virgin Shawn Watson. Um, you know, if this is what we do here, I get that that's entertaining, and it's on for people. And you know, there are whole radio stations that are devoted to you know the nonsense just because the nonsensical his take is possible in air quotes, debating that But let's not we do here and so, yeah, we'll talk about it. They're out there looking to trade Lance. Maybe he impresses them. Maybe they make up, move on, get up there and get them. That's just not the plan right now. I was joking about Dylan ratings, although I'm excited that they would look at it. Yeah, you should look at Dylan ratings. He's a guy that very much impressed with Senior Bowl on one of the top offensive lineman that we talked about. It was a guy that you were excited to see because he was another small school kid went out there and saw him along with Queen Quinn. Miners. We hadn't quit miners on the show. By the way, you can check out the interview Broncos country tonight dot com. But Dylan ratings would be a cool guy to get on to because you know again, he's a six FT. 6 300 plus pound offensive tackle. And the Broncos might be in the market for a day to offense a tackle, especially if they're looking to move on from John James after this year, So you know that I'm gonna calm down after this, but it's just the fact is for the Broncos. Okay, they may have worked their way into having the best offensive line. In the NFC West. It wasn't by accident. Yeah, the Raiders blew up their offensive line. Yeah, the cheese block their offensive line, But the fact is, they have a good offensive line anyways. You know, it's only by happenstance because of all those things that we're even having this conversation, But they had a good offensive line this year. This would be the highest level of optimism we've had about the offensive line in years. And that was another thing that I got in fights with people on Twitter today because people are like, Oh, well, here we are a mediocre team celebrating something like the offensive line being good. I'm like, Why God, people you just never want to be happy. You just don't you just don't want to be happy, so it's fine. That's and that's the thing they don't. They just They just want to be miserable and they want to be right about being miserable. You know, it's it's just I just don't understand that. I've always approached to me. Sports are supposed to be fun. So I try to look at it through that lens and through that filter and and find ways to do that, But at the same time, like, you know, what we're here to do is provide you with an accurate picture of what's going on. We don't we don't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for content here. No way You don't have to do that. We're better than that. We're gonna talk to him. Jenkins about Kyle Trask coming up in the next segment, But I think under the circumstances we should also bring up Trey Lance. Now he is not a very big tray. Lance guy. He's made that very clear. He has Trey Lance. Like sixth right now on his board, So you know that's not necessarily where trade Lance is gonna go. But he's got him pretty low. So I think that the circumstances of the Broncos going out toe North Dakota state. We should talk to him about that. Couple of things that I want to bring up from his appearance on Broncos beat with Alexis Perry earlier this week. Invite you to go check that out on the Broncos YouTube channel. Also to Kaz Miter is going to join us a little later on. He did a seven around Mark. I don't want to get too with him. That is very good, actually. Pretty pretty strong. You have some reporting. On Kayla Farley, that I am so anxious to get to We're gonna probably get to that in the next year. This is short show for us By the way Tonight we have C u basketball Pac 12 term in taking on cow tonight. We're pre game coverage it not o'clock tonight, So it's a little bit short show that kind of the next hour. It's got some. He's got some stuff. On Kayla Farley. And we're gonna hear that cut from Air Crocker last night because it kind of tips tips this thing in the direction Of where maybe the rest of the league feels about this top rated corner by the media way more so than NFL league circles. I don't want to give it all away right now. The man, you put that out on Twitter today. And it was spicy. I gotta be honest like that. It shook up a lot of people's perception off the top corners in this league and how they've been tiered so far. Yeah, I think that you know, there's It's interesting to me because it's kind of duck tales about what we were talking about. We open the show. It's just people just glom onto information. Just accept it as fact, and some of that stuff is not really isn't and you get, you know, media so copycat. You know, Once one piece of information is put out there, everybody assumes it and they go with that piece of information they build off of that. And this. This is what happens. This is how guys get air quotes moved up and down boards and all that kind of stuff. It's not how it's not how this works. You know, like, um You know teams. But I believe these players for years, scouts have know about these guys for years. There's no Michelle Sleepers. You know, sleepers isn't a real thing of all. Second of all, you know, they know where these guys are, You know, they know most of the things about him. Moving up on that board isn't what teams are doing. No media's perception of where that player is based on what they hear from teams or in some cases, some people just make up out of nowhere. But it's it's that's a thing. And so everybody's been build this Caleb Farley thing up. You know, he's a good athlete. Yes, but he's gonna struggle in some schemes like there's there's, um I think there's a specific fits for him than you know if we talked about this, you know, kind of off the year before and everything I've told you. You know, I like to retain a lot better. Thanks, Lieutenant Horn. I'm gonna be the first two corners taken. Really do you know, I don't have a problem with that. I'm just saying, um, And and so I can't wait to talk to Steve Atwater about this because he's like Kayla Farley. This isn't a got your kind of thing. This is a okay. Well, if we give you more information, how does that frame your opinion on this player? I think that you know, I had had a pretty productive day with octopus and people. It is. It is good to get some these conversations because I have been missing that component since I didn't get to go to combine the year and On Doc to some people around the league took a couple of current coaches, but your mind works the XFL. Just I talked to a bunch of people and I'll tell you that there there are half a dozen Prominent NFL coaches..

"Now you Joe Horn, and I wouldn't have been the same neighborhood. Hey, little J. C. He was there as well. Uh, come on, Steve. He's listening right now. Hey, Steve. He's listening right now. Tell him Tell him about his boy. Tell him about J. C. Come on now. Hey, wait, This boy's fallen. He's doing a thing like that. He's physical. Uh, he's got that swagger. Um Off a little bit of noise. I got salt. I saw him Do like AJ Bouvier put the custom to the cuffs on him after one of the plays you made. It is with love that, um And I think he's a really good man. The man player, Um you know, he played tight man to man. He does a good job of using his hands. You could probably get a few calls once you get to the league. But that's all right. I like that. I'll take guys who are a little bit handsy more so than guys who don't want to touch the receivers. You know, I like I like cornerbacks. You wanna get their hands on you in You know, crowd around with you. You gonna make it difficult for you to get off the line of scrimmage, and, uh, he's one of those corners. Uh, he's gonna have a good career man agrees. That's why having this CV one, he's my dude, I we did some mock drafts. That's right. We've some mock draft yesterday and I had myself a little note JC Horn no matter what I took him in number nine. It probably hit If Ali had played this season you brought He probably be your CV one other fixed and Farley. I actually like you more than Ben. But J. C horn. You mentioned swagger. You mentioned the physicality. We had a guest on the other day that mention that he's kind of a bully a little bit, and I just there's there's a personality there. That I'm just It's intoxicating for me like I like that in my secondary players. Yeah. I mean, shows up constantly every single time. He's on the field. So for me now, the couple of knocks that go against J. C. Horn is one you mentioned. He's a little grabby, right? That's that's something that you have You said to correct a little bit, especially the pro level, they'll take advantage of you. And there were some questions about tackling more so in the run game. Did you have any issue with that? No. From what I saw him. He did. He didn't face piece of physical guy. I mean, uh and that maybe more on the on the wide receivers and then on running by myself, come up make makes a good silent type of them running back to so Yeah, You know, I know most cornerback. I'm gonna be super physical, but you know, with the right coach is right system. You know, in the right environment, he'll come up there and stick his nose in there. I don't know. I don't think that's gonna be a problem. Okay, let me give you a scenario here, Ben. Uh, Steve, you, Steve. Let me give you a quick scenario. Yeah. Whatever, man. Yeah. I don't know how he could mix. The two of us up. We are. We're not the same at all. Kayla Farley's in the board at nine. Okay. Caleb are Farley's on the board at nine. But you have a trade off for That would put you back. Maybe around pick 20. And you know you're gonna be able to get J C horn there. Are you staying at nine to grab Farley or you taking the draft capital? Maybe future draft capital and taking JC Horn? How big of a drop off in your opinion? Are you getting there? Oh, not that huge of drop off for me. Uh, I'm going to stay. Put it nine. I'm I'm I'm gonna take Farley. Okay, So it's that big a drop off for you. No, it's not that big of a drop off, but you know if it was a guy that I want, I'm not gonna okay, So that's your guy pick somebody else. That's that's your guy Like last year, like Ryan had his guy was Michael local media. And he's been celebrating all year, so I don't know if the Broncos do trade back and get Jacy Horn. I'm worried that we may never hear the end of it that there's not going to be room in this studio for Ryan and his ego and that just wait till they get Jason Horn and Richie grants and then and then I'm on the grant train with you. I'm there with you on that, Zavala. That's right. So okay, Steve, you how would I think that happened? No. I mean, how could we both get Richie Grant 40 and you get Jason Hornet 20 to trade back in the first you get your horn in the late teens, early twenties and then Richard Grant in the top of the second. Okay. Okay. You know what You think about that going secondary going the secondary with your first two picks. You know what? I like it way definitely need a corner, eh? Um And I don't think we go back to back like we did last year with two. Why receiving all that? We go to corners, but we do have a shortage of corners. And, you know, we got guys who coming back, you know, from the surgeries and in that, so, um You know, way Leave award in one corner. 100% I, Steve. Now, do you need this last thing? Do you need a break from players in the secondary from DVDs? Do you want us to start giving you some linebackers and defensive line? What do you want? Okay. Whatever you want, baby. Why don't you take a look at Michael Parsons? Let's talk about Michael Parsons next week. Okay, all right on and maybe let's do another inside linebacker. You wanna do Barrett Browning? We could do that or the kids in Notre Dame. I think he's a little light. I think he's more of a safety that he has an inside backer. But you also call tomorrow We'll get it to you. We gotta run. Okay. All right, Steve, I'll hit you up and we'll get some linebackers Kay All right. Cool, fellas. Appreciate appreciate it. Steve Atwater, the great Steve Atwater Broncos country tonight on K Away these radio tomorrow on.

"Does it all. Well, he's not just a receiver. He's a football player. Whatever you need to be have done to Patrick can get the job done. In addition, I'm being a really good writer. She was. Well, um, I think another case where Hey, the guys on the team gonna be looking like this, You know, one of our big brother's here eyes. He's always gonna be to get the job done, and he's gonna be able to grow with us this year. I think they're watching good. Patrick is a restricted free agent. And that presents I guess a little bit of a conundrum because you know, with Courtland sudden coming back, Tim is gonna have a smaller role, a little bit smaller role next year. Do you as a general manager? Tender him is like a second rounder so that you can keep him and have a great wide receiver Four or do you do right by the player and tender him with the original round tenders so that he could get contract offers on the market for his most productive season. Well, I think The earlier I think that way, do it a second round tender on him because Right now. Now we're all hoping that call is going to be back on 2%. We don't We don't know that man. I mean, sometimes you need to retake a little bit longer to come back. We saw that with Bradley job this year. Um, so we're absolutely hoping and praying That call is going to be 100 and 10%. But If he's not You don't wanna let Cam Patrick go and, you know, be a thorn in our side someplace else. Um, and again, you know, he's a guy that Came through for us in the trust. We need them last year, and I think they get the right thing to do. By the way on the text line, Jared, pointing out the 0.0 reference to Animal house. You ever see that movie Steve? I think I fell once. Yeah. You really, really how many times have you seen me? At least a dozen. I mean, But then again, you with you, Steve. I understand. But like, you know, you got the one of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. I imagine it must be tough to mix in classics like Animal house when you're You're too busy watching power way, haven't it? Steven Studio for a while, It's gonna ask what's up with ghost? What do you want to look at those big now? I'm in the actor Mitchell. Boy makes your boy did you guys you guys go to beat ups and split a plate of wings. What? You got my number You left and then aren't you friends with the actor now? Did you guys go toe Wildlings is gonna play the wings or whatever that was a milk shake to the beat of man. I was honored to meet him, but we had been able to connect. Uh Yeah, He's awesome guy, man. Marty Hart Hardwick Man. He's awesome. You. Did you get an autograph from him? Oh, uh, he should be asking you for an autograph. Hey, man, We got way We'll exchange autographed thing very seriously. I heard he was going to some kind of like spinoff for prequel or I don't know. I heard Ghost was gonna get his own Syriza's Is that true? Oh, Let me know his son, Tariq. He's kind of storing in the next year. I've been watching. Oh, don't it? Yes, When you're when you're in entertainment mogul like Steve Atwater, you know these kinds of things you see, The thing is, Steve is a Hollywood producer like nobody. Nobody knows this about him. Steve is a Hollywood producer through and through, and you sort of have to keep your fingers in all the pies and that's for me. I'm not surprised that Steve actually knows the answer to all these questions. I didn't know we were in the same room with me, right? Please needed Jessie's needed. Please save that something me that I need that key. Let's go ahead. Do your breakdown. Let's start. Let's start with Patrick Sawyer 10. So you you broke down Caleb Farley last week, and it's really, really cool Breakdown. I invite people do Listen to the podcast Broncos country tonight dot com. Patrick Sartain is another guy. That's right there at the top of the draft around that top 10 Mark, So the Bronco's if they are in a quarterback, that could be another guy. Would you want Patrick searching? What do you for? Small Would you think about his film and then Secondly, compare those two cornerbacks which one you would prefer? Yeah, man. I like this game. He's another tall, long corner. But to me he wasn't his physical is Kayla Farley Awas. On, but I gotta be honest. I like Kayla for me a little bit better than I do. Um Do you, uh, Patrick Sartain that's passed to tame an E mean I hate to say it because I think Patrick sometimes three has a big feeling with his dad having, uh, you know, but in Vegas, all full corner with Miami has had a great career with Miami. I'm sure he, you know, sort of modern tricks of the trade, but, uh, thank you. See that? He doesn't look, it's physical. Um, you know, I don't think he has That's Steve Decatur forgot gives behind them. I'm not sure if he could catch up with him. Um, you know, I think so Tame. I think of me. Farley has a little bit better speed down the field than he does. But you you They had put a gun on me. Told me. I had to pick one man. I have to go with a party at this point. No, there are people that think that Farley has the more upside, but Sir Tain might be able to adapt quicker to the league. Or maybe he starts out a little faster. He's little more smooth. Do you see any of that? Yeah, but again, the Hey, just You know what I want. When I watched guys on film, You know what, with tangible things that I noticed and me Like I said, it's just that, you know, he seems Little lighter. Um, you know, Davis, that wrong with being a light guy. He's almost like their star receiver they have, you know he's £180. But I know certain ways more net. But, you know, he just He doesn't seem like a, uh you know, uh, solid tackling guy back there, and, uh, you know, I just like there's a copy on the field and, you know, I like, uh You know, I like this horse to the county. I like kill, apologies, Physicality and overgrown stay. He'll stick his head in there. You know, he's not afraid, but he just he did had a little extra up that I like to see. Well, Ryan has been boldly proclaiming JC Horn is the top corner in this class. You've looked at his tape. Do you think he's better than Caleb Farley? Was Ryan just, you know, being Ryan over here? I don't know if he's better than California, but I like his game, man. He's physical..

"The last couple of years all right the seventh pick. This is where things start to get interesting. You look at the detroit. Lions and the report comes out that they are open to trading matthew stafford. So that means to me. They're very much in the quarterback market. And i would not even be shocked if they tried to move up. You look at a team like miami at pick number three bucks. That could be a destination for them to try and get up to make sure they get a quarterback they like in this scenario. They sit right where they are. Justin field from ohio state falls right in her lap. I think this is interesting is especially interesting that we look at the composition of their coaching staff. Anthony lynn coming over the of coordinator day campbell talking about being kind of a little horn team. I think you will see a run. I see as in feels throws into the position. But also look for the detroit to may be signed. A ridge quarterback maybe quarterback is tyrod. Say they don't know if he likes to bite kneecaps. I think it's a good fit there. Dan campbell all right. Let's get to pick number eight carolina panthers. I think they would have been very interested to look at a quarterback former to fall. We have four quarterbacks on in the first seven picks so they're out of. I don't think anybody they can take their matt mack jones. I think it's a little early for that. One there So i have them go with the tackle big pook a suicide oregon to the panthers at number eight. Yeah i liked it. I liked that because one thing that we know about maverick. He won't say tough and physical football team. They were unable to impose their will consistently on a you get a sewer to insert into that offense align you get christian mccaffrey back man you. The carolina panthers played the style. That rule really wants to play down in charlotte. Are we get to the ninth. Pick the denver. Broncos we got him going caleb farley here big corner out of virginia tech i i believe is the best in the draft book to me. I think is one of the five best players in the draft. He's outstanding opted out this last year. Big long fast physical with outstanding ball skills. You don't have to look any further than the afc championship game to not how you have to construct your team. You're in this division. The denver broncos you gotta deal with against the chiefs twice a year. You better have a stable of quarterbacks kayla farley gives a big physical player to maybe snuff out some of the speed and explosiveness that can't cheese can present with their wide receiver core night last. Pick here in the top ten. Let's go dallas cowboys. Let's stick with the cornerback theme here. Patrick. 'certain some people believes the top quarterback. He's one or two depending on where you talk to but big talented again long. Instinctive corner from alabama. Maybe the short area quickness not quite at the level with with farley. That's the only difference to me..

"Okay. Here's how you got to flip the guys had one year a defensive end from wide receiver and he already put together production for you. Number two he's going to get better he's going to get more skilled with more times, his hands, GonNa get better. He's GONNA learn how to attack the edge a little bit better. At Greasy, edge I I didn't think he was sought after he was kind of finesse but I didn't think he was soft and there's a big difference I think he has some dog. Mentality inside him because I could see him take on double teams. He's just not a big burly guy and has got to learn to to bend better but I didn't think he was soft but I don't know. But this is all I got bucky. This is all I got Caleb Farley cornerback for for Virginia Tech I'm like man Kayla Farley gets lost in coverage from off coverage, but I like them from press, but he only pressed twenty-seven percent of the time according to pro football folks as alignment numbers. So I only press twenty seven. Twenty seven percent of the time I liked what I saw when he pressed, I love the the size I love the makeup speed but the tape was a little bit on even. In. The Saint and I'm GonNa tell you something that essentially the same guy that was beating upper. So He told me I needed to be careful about beating Farley because he only had two years at cornerback. He was a quarterback in high school. So there's kind of some of the inconsistency of an NFL guy saying I don't care you know You gotTA give this corner more time to learn a position. He's only had two years, but he didn't extend the same courtesy if you will to resolve. So it's it's tough, but it's tough to use this on these projecting two year guys who are changing positions. So so is the challenge, right? So first about the Russo thing. So think is a little concern only because like that's not. A typical transition that you see, you don't see guys that go from being wide receivers to pass rushers, and so we talk about his game being finessed but the thing that we're really reveal who he is, how does he handle the run game at him when they line up and put the tie in Adam and sometimes in the college tape to see them ladder, put a knit overtop and run. Right Adam, how's he going to do dillon with George? Qudos, how's he gonNA do with the Laremy Tunsil that are gonna be tried to to find it. I couldn't find in college right so so you won't see that also when you move get inside and you're moving them around to allow them to use his speed and quickness like this. Great. But as the scout you've got to. Figure out. Well, how much of that is transferable Kenny do that into big boy game Kenny, go down inside and do those same things. I just don't know because man when you get down there you dealing with the monsters like it. You don't like to put guys down to if they don't like to Kinda, get into Briar Patch when it comes to those guys with Caleb Farley. You never scout the helmet, but here's what I will tell you about. Virginia Tech and Virginia corners. Virginia. Tech is a under bud foster heavy blitz system. The ball has to come out typically Virginia Tech their corners do not have to cover for a long time. They've had a lot of corners that have come out of there..

"I thought it was a great tweet that if college football is cancelled, then basically Next year's combine is probably the most important combine ever. And I think he's absolutely right. You know, I wrote last week in my column are actually Caleb Farley wrote MY column. The Virginia Tech corner. Wrote about opting out and why he did it and how dangerous he felt football was this year. But Kayla Farley is also very, very open to the fact that he knows The teams are going to not only have questions about him off the field for opting out, but also on the field because he won't play football this coming year. And so he'll basically you know, beyond somebody's team in 2021 he'll play football, Basically for the first time in 1920 months. Yeah, so that is going to be difficult COLUMN That's the biggest issue all the time off that players are gonna have Between their last year in college football in their first year in the NFL. Well, the good news about that Peter, though they won't get dinged up. I mean, seriously, I look, I heard people say, Well, Trevor, Trevor Laurence of clams. And what if he doesn't play and I laughed and I thought, what he's not going to go number one like literally. He's not throwing the football for the next 19 months. I still think if you're a talented kid If you coaches give you Ah, you know, GM calls in the coach said I love him. He played hard. You know, Peter, this draft is a 50% bus straight past the first round. Anyway, I I don't think it will hurt kids. I really don't Well, the big question Colin. Are they going are some conference is going to play college football starting in February or March. That to me is the big question. And if it is And if the NFL keeps their draft on schedule, then you might be drafting late in the college football season or right at the end of the college football season, So I think you know college football's future as it pertains to the NFL. Is so far up in the air. We can't even see it. Good South Peter King, NBC Sports. Thank you, Peter. Appreciate it. All right, Colin. You bet, Joel clad, ill join us next hour. He's always got strong opinions on college football. I think he wants him to play Big 10 commissioners. I'm reading a story here just in time to do prefer Spring college football season. I'll get into that. I'll have it. Opinion on that coming up, but first joy take over the news. No, thiss is the herd line news. Pam Noone has a fresh start in some big shoes to fill in New England. But he's ready.

"A prospect that is looking at this season and saying, all right, what if I was coming into this with an injury that I had surgery on in the off season coming in with something that had been nagging or now all of a sudden we're dealing with a different ramp up to college football season. They've been there on campus, but it hasn't looked the same. And certainly the lead up to training camp won't be the same. Tell our own China grew. McKay, who's dealt with plenty of her own injuries, looked at the WN BA bubble and part of her decision to not attend was I've dealt with a knee injury, an Achilles injury and I don't feel like I could get my body in the right place to go into this. If you're a potential first round pick who's got any sort of injury concern in all this or that pops up. How quickly are you shutting it down, saying, Well, I'm not in an environment that's going to give me my best chance to come out of this hole and then just like, and it seems so unfair to say, But we're saying in baseball It's the Marlins and everybody says what will be talking about right now. If this was the Yankees, or if this was the diarrhea or Thiss was Washington that had all this? So while Kayla Farley, the individual is projected as a as a back end, first round draft pick, which is phenomenal, first round draft pick and he is just going to go train get ready for the for the NFL in the draft. What if we get a player from a top like five team one of their stars because you know what? Because of the virus. I'm going to offer the Lawrence and the effect along those lines adjust in fields of Trevor Laurence or again the top five top 10 major player or players from that team. Then they're going to say You know what we're backing out of this thing? Yeah, And that's that's going to be the ripple effect there. And it's so funny, Justus you said that I was thinking how different the reaction will certainly beat or something like that. That same thing hold true on the negative and imagine of what happened at Rutgers recently, where you had 15 players test positive and what might be linked back to a party happened at Clemson happened in Texas happened. Notre Dame, the like up war that would be going on day about the potential devastation for college football season. And what to expect would be a lot different. So all of those things are things to keep in mind. But I think you're right. We're going to be waiting for the 1st 1 that affects the national championships picture to potentially opt out in this situation. I think we're still going to have a difficulty to find that because as we talked about the NFL guys, your default setting is still too want to play correct. The spring season would certainly be a fresh look of fresh look is brought to you by sport clips. It's a new season at sport clips, haircuts, All Star. All styles are clean, Certified and guy's smart coming up. Now, the don't Notre Dame has decided to, you know, join a conference for a year and they're eligible to win the championship will they will do book it next..

"Conference game the first Games beginning on the opening To double check on the exact date but Notre Dame will play a ten game conference schedule and be eligible. For the Conference Championship so the. It looks like This is the new the new model meanwhile Ross. Dellinger. from sports illustrated is reporting that the SEC is moving closer to a conference only ten games schedule as well. He he's reporting at this hour that the agreed today. and the president's are expected to be tomorrow but it is still somewhat fluid, but the ACC situation is not fluid. They have gone ahead and announced a rather confusing schedule in terms of. How it will work we'll get you some more some more details on it in a second, but it's the first conference to go ahead and say we're not waiting. We are going ahead with the with the schedule. So more days on that We, have more on that. Meanwhile, has mentioned about an hour ago Kayla Farley who plays for Virginia Tech considered a first round. Pick has become the first big name in college athletics to follow what is becoming a rampant in the NFL players are opting out of the NFL. Patriots yesterday. This was Caleb Farley earlier today after much consideration when my fam- decided to opt out of the twenty twenty college football season and began preparing for the twenty twenty and f. l.. I. Opting Out Uncertain Health Conditions and regulations in audio opt-outs going on football right now. I try to be lost my mother January second two thousand eighteen to wellness and I cannot afford to lose another parent or loved one. Those who competitor me banning to play the season I cannot ignore what's going on my heart and I must make the decision that brings the most piece. So. Thank you gene you take. My coaches teammates. And anyone else who has supported me in the past I was the best and stay safe. God bless. So, it's an interesting situation certainly the reference to his loss May may summit up. Count on more players doing that as the total confusion continues of where we will land here in about five weeks. So let's get back to the calls at eight, five, five, two, four to seventy, eight, five, and bill. is in Atlanta hey bill. Thank you for the call. Good afternoon. A while. I my son is a super player. Of enlisted into the. the other journalists you had on there today and I did see just him second ago that the kid from Virginia Tech's now. I think that's going to be more of a rarity. than the norm because most of those kids want to play for the school and we'll play for their buddies. And I just don't see that being A. Ongoing thing and the journalists also said. That Football. Won't be a safe environment. If the kids aren't playing football I, mean what's going to reduce their risk? Because they're still twenty, eighteen, twenty, one, twenty, two year old kids so they're still. GonNa do what kids do. So. I think that's a good point and you understand better than maybe we do. And it's it's it's a tough subject to talk about. US apparent understand where I'm going here that you know every every kid doesn't come from the same background. Correct. That's this right. And and if they sent. Monkey at home. Go. You know I'm still young I'm not. GonNa. Call how can vince him to stay? In the house and not going anywhere and not do anything. You know they're they're still the same thing whenever I was a kid new kid you know sure the what what we're GONNA do. So I don't see that in the other thing they're not talking about is the school system itself and they keep talking about pushing back football but most schools are ready to open campus and no one two, three weeks so that that money is real in another subject but. You. Know they're not going to cancel schools this fall but talk of cancelling sports and other activities but but the school systems themselves need the money. You know the university system of Georgia just from. The. Half of spring semester and in the month of June, we were down three hundred, fifty, million dollars not from sports, but from SCHOO-. So school tuition. So that from all the fees and that sort of thing. So I don't know what it is from school to school but I mean, that's the. Football's not the only one that that sings speaker Ivan for the money is also the school systems themselves. Because no I. I think that that is a that is a great point because there's so much more money at stake and I, if if it wasn't about that, then I'm sure some of these schools would not be opening. Not Exactly. And and we'll have a personal friend. I know he's going to be a top ten pick. He wants to play. So I just don't. I don't see it being the norm I really don't. Well listen you have. You have much more insights and I do so I. I I'll defer to you and and I think a lot of it depends on circumstances and and I think we just heard there from the Virginia. Tech, player May. He had some reason why he was concerned that's understandable. Absolutely Just all some come across the screen. They're. They're still planning on doing tourneys are GonNa Hog wash through? Rush I mean. And I just I don't see in the guy said the football players will walk in Mobile I. Don't know maybe they are University of Alabama but my son's not walked around. I I can I can Precautions. Yeah but..
