It's this gorgeous coming of age story and the word coda in this movie has two remaining so the first is obviously the musical composition. A coda is the concluding section coda. And then the second meaning of coda in this movie is It's an acronym for child of deaf adults and so this movie is about seventeen year old. Really she is the sole hearing member of death family so she's the coda and Her life revolves around their struggling fishing by business. She of course Joins her high school choir club. And then of course. She says she has a gift forseeing. And she's drawn to a boy so they can do do ads and her choir teacher is like you need to go like for this prestigious school that it means just leave her family behind with everything about it is cliche in the description but they manage to elevate it so it is so fantastic and bonus. What i do. Love is behind the scenes so the mother is played by marlee matlin marlee matlin is the only factor in history to win an oscar. She insisted as being a part of this Production she insisted that every deaf role in the movie be played by deaf actor which i love green light marlee matlin for using her oscar privilege for good like really putting her money where mouth is right. 'cause they can come back and said no. You don't get this job. Because marlene allen. Doesn't do a ton of you know things right now and so But some this movie premiered at sundance Last year it sold to apple for a record twenty five million dollars And this movie's budget was only ten million. Like right which is crazy. It is so good. It's heart warming. it has a beautiful like. You're just rooting for everybody. I am look. There's something to be said for having you know representation. We are always pro that here at progress. But it's actually fantastic and it just shows you. How many things. Sometimes where. I think it is funny. I saw criticism from an actual deaf person who was like listen. Sometimes these things are not about having deaf parents. Sometimes they're just about teenagers appearance not getting along and so that that's not always connected to you her parents or death so therefore she's mad about this like it's you just mad about your parents not let you do what you wanna do. And that's a universal concept inside there's so much universality of to this film that i think everybody would really love it so apple. Tv that's where much that out My green light this week is the tv show on fx reservation dogs. It's from Sterling harjo and tyco td. It's a it's hard to really wrap your hands around but it's comedy and it's Based around four native american teenagers growing up reservation in eastern oklahoma it's So it's got the signature at td kind of vibe This is not You know i. I think more talked about mayor vs town. We talked about sense of place. It was really good at establishing your in a particular place. You're not in on a sound stage in la like you're there and it feels like you're there and the the texture and the layers of The localities there. That's what this show is as well you you absolutely feel like you're on a reservation in rural oklahoma. Oh yeah and commits to the idea of using native american talent using even the back end using native american photographers in getting that perspective and writer. So you're there contributed. I expect hug perspective but This it's a it's not the I don't know the more the cheap laughs. It's the real subtle Burp provoked and ll because of something in on the backside or something like a nuance or subtle Exchange between two characters. I love it. So much I think To cast for teenagers. You don't know what you're getting at the give rely so heavily on the directors but these teenagers. They're so really really really good.
