"You wrote the God of the way with a rabbi. Tell us about the project the God of the way. And the movie. This is our second book together. The first one was a very surprise, huge bestselling published book. I was stunned. I thought maybe a hundred people would buy this book. It's called The Rock, the road, and the rabbi. And I started writing it to share how excited I was about studying rabbinically. The Rock is Jesus, the road is the Holy Land, and rabbinic the rabbi is not a rabbi, but rabbinically teaching the teaching that you get. From the people mostly these messianic rabbis, like rabbi sobel is get out of town. I mean it. I mean, I started writing my book and because I felt compelled, there's so much biblical illiteracy. It's stunning. I have people say to me, well, Jesus was Catholic, though, right? And I go, I want to scream. Not because I'm mad at them just because who believes this stuff, you know? And so I set out to write this book and a 50 pages in, like I said to myself, Kathy, you don't have a book you have a pamphlet. You know nothing. So I called up my friend rabbi sable, Jason sobel. Who I had had so many deep conversations with and I said, rap, will you write this book with me? It needs we need to go deeper, deeper, deeper than my pay grade. I am not a biblical scholar, but I study with them. And then I like to pass on what I've learned because it's made such a profound influence impact on my life. So this is our second book together. But the book didn't come first, the movie did. The movie is called the way the companion book is the God of the way.

"He's with you now. I'm just so grateful for you and for your openness about your faith, Kathy Lee Gifford, my friend God bless you. Thank you. And you, Eric, take care sweetheart and all your new endeavors. Oh this old world peace spin and round it's a wonderful dream down here comes the time. Folks, the headline is we need your help. What do I mean by that? I mean, at least three things by that. Number one, if it's possible for you to get to be part of our studio audience, August 3rd, fourth, and 5th, and 8th. In New York, this week it starts about 4 o'clock every day, we're taping the late night, the talk show with aircraft. It is a mainstream TV talk show. We don't have time to get into it now, but it's nuts. We've got a lot of mainstream guests. It's going to be a blast. We can't share most of it with you yet. But if you can get there, go to Eric metaxas dot com. You'll see where it says speaking or schedule, whatever and you click on it every day. You can sign up through eventbrite. We'd love you there all four days or just one day. You can bring as many people as you want to sign them up. But this is going to be a wild, fun thing. We need some fun, folks. We need some fun because there's a lot of tough stuff going on. But we want you to be there. Please do what you can. That's number one. Number two, if you follow me on social media, let me just ask you, instead of liking what I put there, would you retweet it or would you share it? Would you share it on Facebook? I'm trying to get a lot of information out. And I don't think I've ever said this before, but a lot of times people will like something. We need to get the word out. We are being suppressed. We know that what we're doing, whether we're being shadow banned. I don't mean to sound like, you know, like chicken little. This is actually or not chicken a little. Who am I looking for? Oh, the boy who cried wolf. This is actually happening. We need your help, folks, to multiply our message. Everything we put out, it's a struggle. So whatever you can do to help us and speaking of helping us, as you know, every couple of times a year, we try to raise funds for an organization that we think worthy at the top of the list is food for the poor. Food for the poor is an amazing Christian nonprofit relief organization. They go where there is a need. And I just want to tell you, right now, they are helping families who have fled the Ukraine. Now, we don't need to get into the politics of it. These are people that are suffering and we want to show them the love of God. We want to help them, food for the poor. I can't think of anybody that I would trust more to do that. So food for the poor is partnering with a number of Christian organizations, relief organizations, ministry partners, to get food, literal food to these families that have fled their homes. They've left everything behind. If you know anybody who's ever been through anything like this, my parents experienced this kind of thing, it's hellish. And we want to show them the love of God. So I want to ask you simply to call this number to help, or you can just go to the banner, our banner is metaxas talk dot com. That's the radio banner. "Well, so the God of the way is the book that you and Kathy Lee Gifford did. She'll be on a couple of minutes. But there's also a film affiliated with us. Yeah, so the book is connected to the film Kathy. It's kind of like a one two punch. Kathy wanted to tell the stories of the Bible creatively with song and music and out of that came the book which stands alone but takes people deeper. So for example, in the movie, she talks about the prodigal son, right? And so in the book, we talk about, okay, what's a Jewish understanding of the prodigal son? So for example, the prodigal has this awakening epiphany in the pig pen. Well, why the pig pen will pigs are the most un kosher animal because they have the external sign of being kosher cloven hooves, but they lack the internal sign, which is chewing its cut, it's the picture of the hypocrite. Someone who looks good on the outside, but is unclean on the inside. That's the prodigal son. But the word for pig and Hebrew is hazard. Hazard Hebrew literally is from the same verb to return. So someone who returns to God is connected to the same word for pig. So the rabbi's saying heaven pigs are going to be transformed to become kosher again. So I'll get to eat bacon in heaven. And so if there's a promise for the pig that the most unclean animal would become clean and kosher in heaven, then there's a promise for the prodigal. There's a promise for each one of us no matter where we've come from or how far we've gone. That's so beautiful. And this is, of course, the challenge, right? Is that there are words and concepts in the Hebrew that they make everything three dimensional, that when you understand the meaning of this word or this word and what it relates to. And that's why we've been studying is it's next level. You're digging in in a way that if you're just hearing a sermon in some Presbyterian Church, it ain't happening, folks. It ain't happening. Yeah. It's like Moses and the burning bush, right? God appears to Moses in the burning bush, but the Hebrew says it's a burning thorn bush. Well, why is that important? Because the thorn bush is a symbol of pain and suffering. God's saying, I feel your pain. It's why when Jesus dies on the cross, he has a crown of thorns on his head because he's taking on himself not only the curse of creation, the ground will produce thorns and thistles, he's taking upon himself as the greater Moses, the pain of the people and saying, I feel your pain. It's why he dies on the cross because enter the world through a tree. So God puts the second Adam back on the tree for you and me to undo what the first Adam did. So there's all these deeper connections. There's so much of that kind of thing. I have never heard that before, right? And I always feel just stunned and embarrassed and then excited because like, oh, but now I want to tell the world that the burning bush was a thorn bush. You don't need to be deep to get that connection. That's like right there, you think to yourself, oh, oh, but then my question is always, why haven't I heard that before? I mean, that seems extraordinary. I think the reality is, is that the most, I went to both the yeshiva and seminary and most pastors and teachers focus on the Greek because of the New Testament. They don't get as deep into the Hebrew. And there's a whole beautiful Hebrew interpretive tradition that I believe is part of the heritage of every believer. And I think as we get to know that again, it helps us have that road to meis experience where our hearts burn within us as we see these connections between the old and the new. And of course, I blame Jerome for his vulgate. Shame on you, Jerome. Listen, rabbi, Jason, just a joy to be with you in a couple of.

"Let's go to the patriot mobile newsmaker line, great to have with us from the lone star state, the fourth congressional district, congressman pat Fallon, congressman, hope you're doing good. God starns as I said it once. I'll say it again. You are a great American. It's great to be out. Well, thank you, sir. Congressman, there are a lot of dumpster fires burning across the country. But the big one and hardly anyone's talking about this, the tens of thousands of people that are still coming across that border down in down in Texas, unbelievable. You know what, Todd, it's really remarkable. I mean, you're an honest journalist. So in commentators, so you actually talk about the things that matter and tell the truth. So much of the mainstream media doesn't, but sometimes by commission and many do oftentimes by omission. And Joe Biden has been an office 600 days he's never visited the border. In April we had 234,000 illegal border crossings, which is 1258% worse than the last April president Trump was in office. Only to be eclipsed by May with nearly 240 thousand, which was 9 130% worse than the last May president Trump was in office. We've had 17 straight months of a 150,000 illegal border crossers. 4 million people have crossed that border legally under Joe Biden's watch. He's done absolutely bump just about it and it's a growth story looking at this movie. And the sheer hypocrisy though, this is what gets me. You've got the mayor of New York City. You've got the mayor of Washington D.C.. Congressman. You know what? Primary or river as my friendship once said, you've got to be kidding me. Can we bust a few hundred folks up to New York City and they say the humanitarian crisis? Really? How about several million? We know that because Joe Biden has made every state a border state. And I think honestly, Todd, we should have an express train to take these illegal folks up to San Francisco to Nancy Pelosi neighborhood, up to Chuck Schumer's mansion in New York and to Delaware to the coast where Joe Biden has his details. I think that would turn Delaware red within a few years because this is a military crisis and we need to control the southern border and take that control away from the evil most evil people on the planet, which the Mexican drug cartel. Meanwhile, in New York City, there's a lot of hullabaloo over a plan to house the illegals in a luxury hotel. It's the old milford Plaza. Now congressman, you might remember back in the day Kathy Lee Gifford, she was the singer, the lullaby of Broadway, was a big TV commercial and Kathy Gifford was the spokesperson for this fancy hotel, which is right there at time square. Upwards of $400 a night that the taxpayers are going to be footing to house as many as 600 illegal alien families. When you incentivize something, you get more of it. So what Joe Biden has done is he's made a de facto open border. They know that all they have to do is claim asylum and they'll be caught and released in the United States. While president Trump did was wait in Mexico, which said, oh, we know that 99% of these people are economic viruses. Migrants, they're not really political asylum seekers. So president Trump said you will wait in Mexico while we adjudicate your case. Well, that's a massive difference. That's why the numbers drop. That's why people didn't make the perilous endangered journey in the first place. Joe Biden won, he's got his head in the sand. He doesn't care. A lot of my orchis, the Homeland Security director, should be impeached. I think he lied to Congress. He said the border is secure and then he gets caught on a hot mic, 6 weeks later saying that the border is.

Kathie Lee Gifford Book Expanded Into an Easter Special Airing on FOX

"All right, I'm a little excited. I'm a big Kathy Lee Gifford fan. And when I heard that she was going to have her beautiful book, the Jesus I know, expanded into a fox nation special over Easter weekend, I said, let's get her on the program. Later this hour, TV legend, Kathie Lee Gifford who's going to join us to talk about the Jesus she knows. And she's a neat lady. I've had an opportunity to meet her a couple of times and I'm looking forward to my chat heading into Easter weekend with Kathie Lee Gifford, big special broadcast tomorrow are good Friday episode. We're going to start a new tradition. We got to stop turning away from prayer. We got to stop the failure to go to church. We got to stop turning away from church. We need prayer right now. We need our faith. We need God in our lives. And with all the evil that we are witnessing that's happening all around us, it feels like it's exploding. The peace and the comfort you get when you turn to God is profound.

"Right. So anyway, the story about when Jesus came down from the mount of olives, he'd been in Bethany and he's coming down the mount of olives on that very, very famous road that ultimately he would ride the donkey down for his last week on this earth, and it goes right through the middle of the garden of gassee on either side. As he's walking on that road, which you can still visit, rock road and rabbi baby. There was a tree. It was a sycamore fig tree, and it says Jesus saw the tree, and he was hungry, and he went over to it. And there was what? No fruit, because the Bible says he cursed it. He cursed the treat. Now, I remember saying in Sunday school, my I don't believe that. And my son is school teacher goes, what? I said, I don't believe that. She goes, it's in the Bible. I said, I know, but I don't think it means that. It couldn't. Jesus would never curse something he created. He loves everything he creates. He would, but I'm about to kick Kathie Lee off of this show. Kathy, you're going to have to pull this out of the tailspin. What happened? I'm dying to know. She said, I don't think that you should, if you don't believe in the Bible, then I said, that was the story was I didn't want to go to Sunday school anymore. If I couldn't ask questions. And so what happened is now I'm 40 years later, I want a rabbinical trip. Right. And we're studying the very same thing. And we're on that road. And I say to my rabbi, I said, I don't believe that the Jesus curse the tree, and he goes, you're right. I'm going. Really? Redemption? And he goes, geopolitically, the context there is, in first century AD, every then they were not trees, then, really, they called them trees, but they're really glorified bushes, like the balsam, the olives. You couldn't build things with them. You can make them. So he stepped with every major tree. Represented something in Jewish culture. The olive tree represented the Jewish people. Right. Many other things. It was all different. Yeah. Guess what represented what the figs sycamore tree represented? Since we don't have time, I'm going to let you tell us. The pharisees and the sadducees. Really? Jesus was saying, woe to you, you hypocrites for not feeding your sheets. Now what commentary do I have to redefine that? Because whenever I hear something like this, my initial response is anger, like why are we not this? Why are we not taught it? Why did the children in Sunday school to this day think that Jesus was a Carpenter? He was born in a stable and born in December. None of that is true. So why don't we just tell the truth it's so much more interesting. Jesus was conceived in December during this season right now Hanukkah. I am the light of the world whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. He came into the world through the conception of the Holy Spirit into Mary's womb in December. So in a sense, he was born then, but it wasn't physically born till 9 months later when during the festival of in our sokota. Some people call it. And that's the tabernacle. Let us build three booths. Well, it's really about the Jewish people remembering God's faithfulness during the wilderness, experiences. So what we as western Christians don't understand is that every major thing that ever happened in Jesus life happened during one of the Jewish festivals. He was a rabbi. He was a good rabbi. He kept the law. He came to fulfill it. We know he was murdered on Passover. But he wasn't raised on Easter Sunday. That's a pagan thing. That festival is called first fruits. And he was the first fruit the first son of the old. The truth is way more interesting than the myth. Yes. Because the deeper you dig, the more you find. I mean, it's so fascinating to me. You mentioned having an which is the atheist friend is a Ricky Gervais. He's right. I will talk about this another time, but my new book, which I could be copy of is called is atheism dead. I have come to believe she said that you can't really be an intellectually fulfilled atheist. If you want to be an agnostic, you can. But that science and biblical archeology and things really make it impossible to say there's no God. If you want to say, I'm not ready to be a Christian. I've got questions. Great. That's fine. But to say in this day and age, I know there's no God or we could have the universe. There's no higher power with that guy. I would say that it's all random you no longer can do that. So anyway, all right, talking to Kathy Lee Gifford the book is the Jesus I know honest conversations and diverse opinions about who he is, we'll be right back. Hey folks, I've got to tell you a secret about relief factor that the father son owners Pete and Seth. Talbot have never made a big deal about, but I think it is a big deal. I really do. They sell the three week quick start pack for just 1995 to anyone struggling from pain like neck shoulder back, hip or knee pain, 1995, about a dollar a day. But what they haven't broadcasted much is that every time they sell a three week quick start, they lose money. In fact, they don't even break even until about four to 5 months after if you keep ordering it. Friends, that's huge. People don't keep ordering relief factor month after month if it doesn't work. So yes, Pete and Seth are literally on a mission to help as many people as possible deal with their pain. They really do put their money where their mouths are. So if you're in pain from exercise, even just getting older or the three week quick start from 1995, let's see if we can get you at a pain too, but relief factor dot com relief factor dot com or call 805 108 three 8 four 805 108 three 8 four relief factor dot com..

"That it's got some problems. First of all, the people who were transposing it transcribing it, whatever you want to call it from the original Greek and the original Hebrew, had never been to Israel. And so they had no geopolitical or cultural contrasts. You know, it's context. So they said they said, no, I know there are many things that are in the King James that you read it, and you think this feels like 16 O 5, England. Yes, first of all, Jesus did not speak the king's English. Jesus spoke Aramaic Jesus and he spoke Greek. And probably a little bit more because this was a trading post. The via Morris, the road of the sea, along the Mediterranean, getting ahead of myself too fast, got these dudes. Was a major trade route to the north south and down to Africa and north to turkey, and on Asia. And so lots of people came through there. And now the worst thing is that everybody thinks Jesus was had been a Carpenter. Because that's what it says in the king's name. But he was a tekton, which is different. He was a builder. He was a builder. And back then, the only thing you could build with really build with was stone. Jesus was a stone mason. Thank you. Now, why that's important is twofold. Number one, I don't want to be told he was something he wasn't. I wanted to be what it really, would you please tell me what tekton means? It means architect slash builder, which I love because we know that Jesus was with the father and the Holy Spirit. As the architect of all of creation. So that I'm with that. That's cool. In the beginning, was right. And builder. That's where they went wrong. They went, oh, builder. He was a Carpenter like us in England. No, all the buildable trees that are in Israel now were planted after it became a state in 1938. I never thought of this. I never thought Alban that I would learn this kind of level of stuff from Kathy Lee Gifford. She's just a showbiz personality. I'm not expecting this kind of stuff. Kathy keep going. No, and so the second part of why it's important, and you know this. Now the scriptures comes to life. Upon this rock, I will build my church. And he didn't mean Peter. He meant the truth that he had just declared that you are the messiah. Upon this truth, I will build my kingdom. And the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Well, the Gates of hell is a real place in near caesarea philippi, where there's a pan. It's an ancient temple to pan. And they think that it was the entrance to hell through this cavernous lagoon type thing. And all sorts of bestiality and sort of things were happening. There were judging. No, Jesus took his disciples there to show them that, and to teach them a great truth. No good no good rabbi would ever do that. They would avoid places like that. Jesus took him there to see it. So he would know the world they needed to go into in his name. So I want to know what tekton means. Another thing you don't learn unless you're studying rabbinically is when I was 12 years old, I got kicked out of Sunday school. When I was 8, I got kicked out of the brownies. And when I was 17, I got kicked out of America's junior miss pageant. This is my sordid life crime. Wow. I was a wild woman. But I got kicked out of the brownies. Yes. I can say, honestly, I was never kicked out of the brownies. That's amazing. I know. What did you do? What are you just so much time with? Yeah. I'm gonna tell you the why I got kicked out of Sunday school. Yeah. Because we were reading the story in the New Testament and we should never talk about old and New Testament either because it's one story is not the Old Testament belongs to the Jews and the New Testament belongs to Christians. It's one very long story based basically in the Jewish faith and Christians have never been taught that in the western world. Right..

"Welcome to the Eric metaxas show with your host Derek Texas. Hey there folks, welcome to this week's edition of ask metaxas. I traditionally play the role of taxes every week on Thursday, today's Thursday, right? In the first segment, we do ask me taxes. I play the role of metaxas. And the asker, Albin, why don't you play the role of the asker? You ask for taxes. I'm adjusting my clothes here. And by the way, some of these will be joke answers and it's your it's a challenge. Okay to figure out which one. Okay, here's a question number one. Maybe that suits here. Will there be wine in heaven? Seems like there's a lot of talk about wine in the scriptures. Note, this is what this person wrote. I prefer a red Cabernet Sauvignon. Wow. Will there be wine in heaven? There will be, I know this for a fact, there will be a lot of chocolatey drinks. Like yo, Nestlé's quick that kind of thing. Tons of chocolatey sugary drinks. And yet in heaven, the sugar won't cause inflammation. Isn't that amazing? Actually, I just made that up. But will there be wine in heaven? It seems to me that there will, the question, I mean, I wonder if there's something from the scripture that I'm not even consulting the scripture, but off the top of my head, wine is portrayed in the scriptures as a good thing. Yeah. Well, we also know in heaven, there is no beer. That's why we drink it here. Yeah. That's so stupid and umbilical. It makes me angry every time my German relatives sing that song. But so I guess my answer to the first one is, I don't know. Second question, what are your favorite seasons? List them one to four, please. Okay, what are my favorite seasons of the year? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that I really don't like seasons. I'm against them. None of them really work for me. Summer you get too sweaty. They've all got issues. Actually, the short answer would be summer without any question. There's no question. The summer is my favorite season. But I really do also love the other three seasons. They're all special in their own special. So I can't really listen. I grew up in the northeast and Connecticut. So to me, living in a place without seasons would be would be agony. So to my friends in Southern California, I don't know how you do that. I mean, it's like it's nice, but at some point I want that crisp fall air. You know, I feel so I love the seasons in general, but without any question summer. Okay. I am always looking out for discernment in my walk with Christ and not follow false teachers as stated in the Bible. Watching what I read and see on TV. So when I was listening to an interview that you did with Kathie Lee Gifford, she said the King James version of the Bible was the worst. Am I missing something in my walk with Christ? There are many very conservative pastors that teach from that Bible. What am I missing? Thank you Richard. Okay, Richard, I hate to break it to you, but Kathie Lee Gifford is not always right. She's a friend. I love her. She's right on a lot of stuff. We agree in the last episode, but every now and again, she gets stuff wrong. And it is possible possible that on this program when she said that, she may just have been stating an opinion. When people talk about Bible translations, I happen to love the King James, but it all depends, you know, let's face it when you're talking about translations, there are no way to translate something perfectly. You're losing something in translation, lost in translation you've heard of that. So I think that you have to know what you're looking for. Some people have been raving about the passion translation. You have to know what you're looking for. I think that the writing, the poetry of the King James, is utterly unequal. It is glorious. So I love the King James, but there are people. If you want to really get down to the meaning of the text, it's obvious that people writing at the time of Shakespeare would not be able to see the connections to the ancient Hebrew world that we could see today because we know things today that they didn't know for centuries ago. So I wouldn't really worry about what Kathy Lee Gifford said. Your young person and I think maybe you're maybe you're too intense, maybe you need to relax and understand that we don't need to go to war over which is the best translation..

"Right. And we're studying the very same thing. And we're on that road, and I say to my rabbi, I said, I don't believe that Jesus curse the tree, and he goes, you're right. I'm going. Really? Redemption? And he goes, geopolitically, the context there is, in first century AD, every then they were not trees, then really they called them trees, but they're really glorified bushes, like the balsam, the olive. You couldn't build things with them. You can make them, very, very, very, very simple with every major tree. Represented something in Jewish culture. The olive tree represented the Jewish people. Right. Many other things. Different truths. So in a sense he was born then, but it wasn't physically born till 9 months later when during the festival of in our sokota. The truth is way more interesting than the myths and hearing because the deeper you dig the more you find. I mean, it's so fascinating to me. You mentioned having an which is the atheist friend is Ricky Gervais. He's great. I will talk about this another time, but my new book, which I could be copy of is called is atheism dead. I have come to believe you said that you can't really be an intellectually fulfilled atheist. So anyway, all right, talking to Kathy Lee Gifford the book is the Jesus I know honest conversations and diverse.

"Healing and unexpected ways this features an actor with autism. holly robinson has a son with autism. This is very near near to her heart. I like this kind of representation on hallmark. A love holly robinson peete and i will watch this awesome next up a god. Wink christmas miracle of love. We talked about it this week last week. Sometime on our girls gone hallmark podcasts. Starring katharine barral and alberto frazee look has a really long synopsis. And megan's gotta go so this has something to do with god winks it's a fourth installment. I think medical miracle. I see i mean a skip this one from executive producer. Kathy lee gifford and definitely gonna skip it then All right the final movie on hallmark movies mystery saturday december. Eighteenth christmas for keeps starring christa b allen ryan rotman ashley. New new brow and marielle scott at christmas time a close knit group of childhood friends returns home. After ten years to take part in the celebration of life of their beloved high schoolteacher. Look i like this. I like the story i to me to. This is the watch for me and increased one and chris debbie allen. She played The child and thirteen going on thirty with she played. She played a jennifer gardner as the. Yes now i have two questions for you. Will you be watching the new movies. That are going to be on hallmark movies now. I don't have the hallmark movies now app and quite frankly i'm done getting apso probably not but we have every time. A bell rings on thursday. November eighteenth starring aaron k. Hill from a timeless christmas brittany issue. She ali lieber and wes brown has yeah. That's a big cast to throw on like a app streaming service. Rando no. well. The app sucks. I'm so sorry but it doesn't feature new movies. With the exception of the occasional original it goes directly to the app. So i think this is their way of trying to draw new subscribers. The app does not feature all of the new content in the other two lineups. And i think sometimes they try and like took people like get all the horror movies. But it's not actually all the hallmark movies so i think this is there like ploy. I do think. It's kind of a bummer. For people like west brown aaron k. hill. Who are you know fairly big names and hallmark who get shunted to the app. Yeah i'm sure they still got the same paycheck though for sure. So i'm also seen another movie here called sugar. Plum twist december second with a bunch of people have never heard of and it's a twist on dance of the sugar plum fairy with some latin vibes. I don't look. I'm not going to go over there and watch i'm not no. I'm not doing it. Not because i don't want to watch that movie with a latin twist. Are you making fun of my synopsis reading hallmark. They're like we're inclusive yet. That's a no for me. It's not the movie that's a no for me. it's just. I'm not gonna go onto another app and watching other movie when i'm already paying for friendly know precisely the movies all and before christmas this year i remember watching like december thirtieth christmas movies last year. Weren't we had just must be showing repeats. Then that is assuming hallmark sticks to the schedule. There is no telling what will happen so that is the schedule as it stands. Those are thoughts. We will start reviewing movies on thursday so make sure you are. Subscribe to the podcast so you never miss a new episode. Let us know your thoughts on the hallmark lineup. And we can't wait to start countdown christmas with you. Guys have a great weekend. Everybody good bye bye..

"Theatrical experience there is something about also the fact that just the storytelling happens in a linear fashion. You know you're starting to beginning and ending at the ending whereas tv and film. it can be so mismatched. And jumbled around and stuff so there's something about like being an actor in stepping out and starting to tell story and then it finishes and you can feel the audience's reaction whether they enjoyed it or not and it feels like we did something where sometimes. Tv can just feel so like. Hey we're doing the scene. I think it's funny. We'll see how it works in the final edit when they put it all together. So yeah i. I love especially doing comedies and musicals just you can feel an electricity and an energy in a room in a big broadway musical. That just is unlike anything else. It feels electric and it feels like it's happening in this moment for these thousand people that are in this theater and can feel so magical and Yeah i love broadway love it love it. Love it as we now move. Tell a the story. I do wanna just kinda mansion. Just so everyone can look it up and google you saying on on the today show a kathy lee gifford songs one. I was surprised but a good writer. She will try. It really shows off your voice. You had a really nice boys. You were singing for thirteen year. Old boy terrell syndrome. It was great. It was just i thought it was like. It's hard to watch that and then kind of reconcile it with your kevin character shirt. Whoa i would say that you know it's funny. I most of the parts that i have played in my career have been good guys. Good good lovable guys. Which is why playing. Kevin is really fun for me to sort of like play against that. And also i think without tooting my own horn too much. I think that i have a face that is sort of like affable. And like oh that guy seems like you'd be a nice guy you know..

Thank you nice to be about all view. Can you hear me. I can hear yes me. Joy has the first question yes. Welcome back ordre we. You can see that. We just revere you and love you. And we were talking yesterday about simone biles arguably the greatest gymnast in history stepping aside some olympic events for her mental health. Now you know you are considered to be. I would say one of at least one the top three broadway performance and you know. There's a lot of pressure in performing You always have. You always have to hit that high note. So can you relate to that pressure to perform that she expressed. I absolutely can and quite honestly. She was a goat to me. The greatest of all time before she decided to pull out of the olympics and she is greater to me now because she's modeling for lots of young people and people across the globe the the necessity to take care of oneself. And she showing that that is just as important as being the greatest and she's showing that is important to take care of one's mental health as well and so i applaud her and the pressure is immense. And if if that's what she needed to do to take care of herself into model that self care then bravo now audra. I was talking to you. Earlier about i worked with kathy lee gifford and she began my obsession with you and just to drive this home. The new york times said you're probably the most females talented person on this planet. New york magazine called you. The greatest singer alive and this is my favorite from the washington. Post quote if the government were really serious about solving a problem like global warming. It might consider reaching out to audra mcdonald because simply put the woman can do anything so with those very kind of light. Word recently shared a video of using into your four year old daughter. "And riot. Pignon heavens okay everybody add all those things to help you got it the show notes so again so we can be real clear about About the my new about Confectioner's glaze casing and gelatin. And i have to. Oh in the fish bladder and the rest of it. You just taught me a while okay. Lactic acid to some of it. Some that can be but some of it can't and i don't know how you how you know Do you know. Adrian how you know in in that case you just have to look at the brand of whether they specify packaging. It's that product is megan. that's call. Yeah yeah so would talk about it. As far as the planetary responsibility goes and wooder some of the environmental issues to way when buying products. And then how do you rate those on your amanda have the colors but is is is what are you. What are you taking into consideration. 'cause there's obviously a plethora of environmental issues that we need to be thinking about him. Assuming you picked for five or you know. How did you do that in. Apply environmental protection to the app. What is it considering. I consider an imagine as much as i can from product origin to disposal and everything in between i wanna know it all starting with water consumption whether that's a for plant food or livestock and carbon outputs from greenhouses or farm. Equipments give transportation energy for refrigeration or freezing whether the packaging is minimal. Recyclable or biodegradable. Some of these things. It's really impossible to know others They've done research like calculated water and carbon footprints. There are some groups that have done that ends unpublished those studies but of course to be more eco friendly. I always recommend buying seasonally locally and organically as often as possible things i'm very focused on packaging. Now i'm gonna take more care about palm oil. Because i have you know we all we all work on some areas. There's still so many other areas. I can expand because allow the areas are just second nature for me But palm oil. I definitely haven't gotten. I did get dots would be so proud of me. I did get confectioner's glaze out because that is all on chocolate adrian. I love chocolate. And so i do not do not do not eat. Chocolate with has confectioner's glaze which is a real romy. Sometimes with your the store and the only chocolate is chocolate covered and most chocolate covered almonds confectioners. Anyway you know what i love about. Your said was that the labor part and i remember the first time i became more aware of labor issues. Actually the first time. I became aware of labor issues was in nineteen ninety six when kathy lee gifford was excoriated because her line of clothes for walmart were being made by. Thirteen-year-old honduran kids who worked like twenty hour days and what what we have subsequently come to find out is that so many people's blinds of clothes are made by kids or in bad conditions etc. And it's really hard kathy People just loved bring her down because she was america's sweetheart and so she became the target but she in her defense she did not know that because companies often will subcontract than subcontract and etc. So she was not willfully doing this. She needs to take responsibility. God bless her and actually started actively working Four better labor laws. But you know she. She did not know and we don't know so. Tell us how you were able to figure out whether products were made under good labor laws and up to our standards here in the united states. Now you're you're absolutely right. It is so difficult to know. Responsibility and accountability can be lost or tossed around in all of those layers of subcontracting. For this reason the bigger brands tend to not a transparent I shop with the philosophy of of brands being guilty until proven innocent in being transparent. I can be any age i. I'm so skeptical it's laughable. Make fun of myself. All the i mean why not have a sense of humor about it. Anyway is all Such serious issue have to laugh. Don't cry right but considering how many smaller brands do go the extra mile to get certifications. That protect people. I feel like. There's no reason why the bigger brands aren't able to do this. So that's why. I assume it's are not transparent or they weren't certified. They must be hiding something and bottom line right always the dollar yet. Expensive the certifications that we should be looking for it There's that fair trade label is is. Is that enough know. Look for a fair trade label. I have not heard any reports of the fairtrade labels. Being out sketchy in having issues with that. Those aren't the ones So i think the fair trade can can absolutely be trusted but again i always make myself aware in. Stay up to date of any new information that comes to light just in case I i think that some certifications are better than none. A lot of the. I know in the fashion world. A lot of the smaller brands It's common to see that. They visit the suppliers themselves. So that's something. I have noted in the app under the fashion brands is is not. Just oh yeah. They're certified but in what way are they making life better for these workers down. Are they just giving them acceptable minimum wages or are they exceeding the the wages for that area. Are they providing them with you know humane suitable working conditions and that sort of thing. So what's considered fair. Trade define fair trade for our listeners. Like does it is this things. Is it tim things what. What does that mean when they buy something. That's fair trade. What has not happened or what has happened. It's a more humane arrangement for wages. Workplace standards typically in countries that don't.
