Mike Lee: We Will Self-Destruct as a Party, Rushing Spending Bills
"I mean, Mike Lee senator Mike Lee from Utah was on Fox business network and just nailed it. Listen to this. I mean, I think Rand Paul put his finger on it. He was on our show a couple nights ago. He said, GOP has lost any power of the purse and he said, the GOP has a masculine itself. This is not a good episode for the Republican Party, is it? No, not at all. And in fact, I'm glad you brought up the tax hikes in there, which are themselves problematic in your correct to point out that they're not getting the attention they deserve. One of the reasons that this sort of thing can happen and not get much attention in the process and Republicans can still go through the motions and vote for it devastatingly. It's because it's folded into a 4150 5 page Bill, one that was negotiated in secret by four or 5 members of Congress, held secret from the public until Tuesday morning, Larry. There's not a human alive who can digest four 1100 and 55 pages of legislative appropriations text in that short period of time. It's one of the reasons why this should never happen. Republicans, in particular, who do this, it should be asked to never, ever do it again. We will self destruct as a party if this ever happens again. Raise your right. We can't do this ever again.

Caller: Hugh Hewitt Criticizing Matt Gaetz Is Unacceptable
"You hear it ragging on that gate for the last week blaming him for this is unacceptable. You're not his fault. People don't people push back against the Matt gaetz's of the party because Gates represents what Trump represented and that is toppling the establishment and they can't they can not tolerate that and these are friends of mine. These are colleagues. These are people that I work and play with. I mean, I know a lot of people that I have deep respect for who just have no tolerance for the challenge to the establishment and the status quo. And I just guess they don't understand. I suppose they don't realize Matt Gaetz is trying to weed out the rhinos. Matt Gaetz is trying to say enough with playing footsie with Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

Caller: Republicans Needs to Learn From Trump on How to Fight
"Do you feel guilt that millions of people are going through this bomb cyclone around the country with this winter weather and we're suffering through 60° temperatures? Not at all, Mike. Behind me. I know. Me too. Me too, golly. Although it's gonna get chilly here this weekend, I guess, for Christmas. A horrible reminder, unfortunately. No kidding. No kidding. Give me your take on the way the Republicans have voted in supported. I mean, as banchi points out, they actually been over backwards to give Biden everything he wanted. They actually pushed for more spending for Ukraine that no one asked for. It's unacceptable and it's really disheartening. I'm a new Republican. Can I just register as a Republican for the first time in my life in 2021? The light was a lifelong Democrat. And became a Republican because of Donald Trump. These Republicans have learned nothing from him. They need to learn how to fight. Whether Trump is the president elect, they need to learn how to fight. And then some radio hosts like you hear it ragging on that gate for the last week blaming him for this is unacceptable. You're not his fault. People

Mollie Hemingway: The Senate Chose Not to Debate the Budget All Year
"Molly Hemingway to Sean Duffy the other night on Fox News channel. It is unfathomable. It's unbelievable to most Americans that this is what our Senate is doing. They had all year to have meaningful debate about the budget and how we operate our federal government. They chose not to. They release a bill that no one has read, no one cares to read, that has been written by lobbyists and savvy Democrat staffers. I mean, the things you just listed, these horrible pork things. They're awful, but they're a tiny percent of the problem with the bill, which embeds so many dangerous ideologies into the functioning of the federal government does nothing to correct the massive problems we have, rewards the FBI and Department of Justice for meddling in our elections and censoring people's First Amendment, going against people's First Amendment rights, increases their budget, does nothing to take on the problems that we have in our the destruction of the military, but just rewards them and encourages them to continue what they're doing.

Bonchie: Republicans Beg for Power and Refuse to Exercise It
"And banshee wrote a great piece at red state that said, the current who said the current Republican Party is making it really hard to care whether we win or lose. During election time, we all rally around them. And this is what I want to speak to. Because I would get infuriated when somebody would call the show and say, Mike, why do I bother to vote? Mike, why? It doesn't matter. It doesn't do any good. And I would get mad at you. I would get infuriated. And I still understand that is a losing proposition. It's all we've got. It's all we've got. And so, but I want you to understand that I appreciate how you feel when I look at this list of senators, Republicans alleged conservatives who rubber stamped what Biden and Schumer and the Democrats wanted. When it's election time banchi writes at red state, we all rally around them doing our best to pull them across the finish line. Yet when push comes to shove, they can't even be counted on to oppose massive omnibus packages full of left wing priorities. They begged for power and then refused to exercise it. To protect the very people who elected them.

An Apology to Voters for the Betrayal of GOP Senators
"I want to give a word of explanation and maybe a sort of apology to people who've called this show in 2022 and say, why do I bother to vote for the Republican Party? A huge contingent of Republican senators stabbed the American people in the back with voting to pass this goofy $1.7 trillion omnibus package. Now, most of the Republicans who voted for this boondoggle, this Biden Christmas wish list are, you know, the usual suspects, Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, but Tom cotton, Tom cotton really? 18 Republican senators.

Jon Voight: 'Wake up, America! See This Lie.'
"Check out what he released on his Twitter account last night. My fellow Americans, can we all speak truths? So we can see the lie that was brought upon our president Trump. And the ones who once were on his side are now finding wrong with the documents. Can we see this lie? Did they ever attack Obama's home or Clinton's? And why not? Because president Trump knows that the swamp are all lies, and he once drowned them. And they're all afraid you will see the truths. Wake up America. See this lie. And we must see this as similar to president Kennedy's files. My Friends, the deceit, will surely die for no man shall turn truths for their ego for their unrighteousness. Because our witness will surely condemn this war. The third World War, yes, it's been turned into a war. But this force this evil force against the American people will be wiped out by the power that once helped George Washington win the revolution for freedom. There is a God. And he the almighty will answer our prayers for this nation to be strong and safe and loving for our future. This is the greatest country. The line of opportunity where one can be their greatest self. This is America. And my fellow Americans, I'm proud to be an American.

To Solve the Problem in the U.S., Vote Republican
"Solving the problem that America is facing right now is not complicated. You got to vote Republican. If you are sick of the way things are in America, I can not even begin to believe that you would seriously consider voting for a Democrat because of a Supreme Court ruling. So we need clarity. We need people whose hearts are, you know, Mark describes people who say that is just throwing a little bit of a temper tantrum, a little bit of a fit right now. You're throwing a little bit of a hissy fit because you don't like the direction of the country when it comes to the sanctity of life, but you're going to get over it. And common sense will prevail and you're going to recognize that we've got to rescue America.

Are Democrats' Chances Improving Thanks to Abortion?
"I see a headline this morning on Fox News, Democrats chances are improving. Thanks to abortion and the economy starting to get a little better, abortion. Oh, that's right. Supposedly millions of Republican voters are going to vote Democrat because the Supreme Court ruled that roe V wade was terribly decided and the states get to decide the matter of abortion. As a result, Republican women are going to vote for the party of AOC, you're going to vote for the party of open borders, the fascistic tyrannical lockdowns, the double standards, crime inflation, mandatory, you're going to vote for that. The FBI Planted 'Top Secret' Documents in Released Photo
"It's got top secret documents strewn all over the carpet at Mar-a-Lago. Of course they did that. They took the documents if you're watching us on the shell of news channel, Yuri, who were welcomed back in after a couple of days off, good to have you back Yuri. He's got the picture up right now on the screen. You should see it. Carpeting looks beautiful incidentally. They've taken, you can see like a Time Magazine cover and there's framed photographs in a box and the next to that, top secret dunk done, and they've got their documents strewn all over the floor. Now, I'm assuming that the FBI did that. So they took the documents out of Trump's desk, I wonder if it was locked, they definitely broke in to the office. He didn't want him in there. Took the documents out of his decks, desk, splayed them all over the floor, took a picture and said, here we go. Look at the documents on the floor, making you think Trump did that. Like he just flung documents that are classified all over the floor of Mar-a-Lago. They're never going to stop.

Jan. 6 Committee Failed, so the Presidential Records Act Is Next
"Here's the way I see it and I want you to tell me if you think I'm wrong. January 6th failed miserably. Liz Cheney paid a heavy price for her shenanigans and antics, her Trump hatred, she's now going to be an ex congresswoman soon, while already has faded into oblivion, the January 6th select committee didn't accomplish what they set out to do. They couldn't change the mood of the people, and it didn't work. So now, well, let's get him on the presidential records act. Let's get him on documents. That he shouldn't have removed from The White House. Now, we could have a big argument and a big debate about whether his lawyers and his team did the right thing and not returning them if they were supposed to return the documents. Who knows? I was supposed to believe the FBI. I got three words for you. Hunter Biden laptop. If you want to suddenly ascribe all kinds of credibility to the intelligence community of America, so who knows? I don't know. You don't know. What I do know is the mainstream media right now is hyperventilating over the midnight reveal from the DoJ. Look at the picture.

They splayed them all over the floor on the carpet, took a picture of it, and then released that to the country before midnight last night. Look at the picture. Kathie Lee Gifford: Working With a Rabbi to Write 'The God of the Way'
"You wrote the God of the way with a rabbi. Tell us about the project the God of the way. And the movie. This is our second book together. The first one was a very surprise, huge bestselling published book. I was stunned. I thought maybe a hundred people would buy this book. It's called The Rock, the road, and the rabbi. And I started writing it to share how excited I was about studying rabbinically. The Rock is Jesus, the road is the Holy Land, and rabbinic the rabbi is not a rabbi, but rabbinically teaching the teaching that you get. From the people mostly these messianic rabbis, like rabbi sobel is get out of town. I mean it. I mean, I started writing my book and because I felt compelled, there's so much biblical illiteracy. It's stunning. I have people say to me, well, Jesus was Catholic, though, right? And I go, I want to scream. Not because I'm mad at them just because who believes this stuff, you know? And so I set out to write this book and a 50 pages in, like I said to myself, Kathy, you don't have a book you have a pamphlet. You know nothing. So I called up my friend rabbi sable, Jason sobel. Who I had had so many deep conversations with and I said, rap, will you write this book with me? It needs we need to go deeper, deeper, deeper than my pay grade. I am not a biblical scholar, but I study with them. And then I like to pass on what I've learned because it's made such a profound influence impact on my life. So this is our second book together. But the book didn't come first, the movie did. The movie is called the way the companion book is the God of the way.

Kathie Lee Gifford: When We're Fearful, That Means We Don't Trust God
"I don't want to bring us down because this is such a, first of all, it's a joy for me to catch up with you. You're one of my favorite people in the world as you know. And I am thrilled about the way and we need prayer because Kathie Lee, it feels like we're all at each other's throats. There's so much tension. There's so much anxiety worry. But there's an answer. But there's an answer to the fear. There's an answer. There's an answer and the answer is right behind right in front of us. Right, right there. And it's so simple we stumble on it. There are more admonitions in the Bible about fear than any other thing. Fear not, don't be afraid. Don't be discouraged, you know, because you know why because God loves our faith in him. And when we don't, when we fear something, it means we're not trusting him. And God inhabits the praises of his people, and he despises, he hates his children to fear because that means they're not trusting in their ABBA father that he's going to supply all of their needs according to his glorious Richards in his son Jesus. And that's why it says, not because God is trying to put us down. He knows he made us. He knows we're going to be afraid. But he's saying stay close to the shepherd. Cling to your shepherd during everything and especially now.

But for some reason, they're not ready, and then maybe later on, they look back. And I certainly had that experience in my life. It wasn't until my 25th birthday that Jesus came into my life. You know, once and for all, big time, but before that, there were many moments and I write about them in my book fish out of water. I laid down the crack pipe, and then I got saved. Sometimes, but very often it's way more complicated than that, isn't it? It certainly is, the biggest mistake everybody does is we try to put God in a box. God is the creator of all things since the beginning of time, which was, he was there before time as we and he doesn't even he doesn't even live in a sense of time that we do. So we just try to take our finite minds and find it decide what God is. And it's ludicrous. I don't want a God that small. They can fit in my brain. You know, I want the God who sustains all things by his power to this day. I want a God who's The Rock of all things, the foundation of all of creation. They don't trust him for the future. They don't trust him for today, much less tomorrow. And they live in a place of fear. I truly rejoice in living a life of faith as opposed to fear. Fear paralyzes from things happening. Fear, clogs up the blessings from heaven. God doesn't want us to live in a place of fear. There are more admonitions in the Bible to fear not. Fear not, I am with you. He knew we would be afraid. But what pleases God is not only the praises that we give him because he inhabits the praises of his people. But he. Says, you know, that our faith is the very thing that actually pleases him. So I want to please my creator. I'm a people pleaser to some extent, but I'm really, really a savior, pleaser. I want him to say, well, well done, Kathy. I saw your heart. I mean, we said about David who sent out the wazoo. He said, but he's a man after my own heart. I want to be a woman after his own heart. I mean, people don't know that side of you. They think that, yes, she used to be with the cruise line and she used to joke around with reach and drink wine with holding it. They have no idea that your whole life you have had this creative musical side. And obviously, this Jesus thing going on. Oh, yeah. My assure ever since I was 12 years old, although I really believe I knew him before that. My very first memory, one of my very first memories was being at mine house in Annapolis, Maryland. And dreaming. I had a dream there. I must have been about 6. It was fall, and I was outside with my daddy breaking leaves and jumping into at least piles as you do in Maryland. And all of a sudden, I looked up and it was a beautiful fall day and Jesus was sitting on a cloud. I knew he was sure. I knew it was Jesus, but for whatever reason. And he was sitting cross legged like an Indian. And he just looked down at me and smiled at me and went and just smiled at me. And didn't say a word and I woke up. And I knew it was Jesus. So even then when I became a follower of him when I was 12, I still couldn't believe that there were people. I had Jewish friends who didn't believe in Jesus. I said, how can you not believe in Texas? He's the messiah, the long prophesied messiah in the Old Testament. And in the Torah, in the books of the prophets. And we just don't believe that. And it was just a big surprise to me. And it's still a big surprise to me that people would choose to not believe in him. I think it's a lot harder to not believe in him than it is to believe in him. There's such a such an extraordinary amount of evidence to prove that he certainly was a historical character. He certainly had the biggest influence on the world any individual has ever had. What is your interest in the subject of this book? Well, the second book of ours after Iraq warden rabbi is very, very different. It has a different purpose. This book supports the film that I've written called the way. And it's a 74 minute series of four oratorios, which chronicled the faith journey from the dawn of creation to the building of a nation, the hebrews, although it was the conquering of the promised land, all the way through to the messiah's coming. And then when Jesus calls his disciples to meet him on the other side and getting them both meet me on the other side. So I don't know, it was you and I have talked a lot about spiritual things and what was the beginning of this, you know, God always says do not despise a small beginnings. The whole thing began as a three minute song I was writing with a brand new writer friend of mine. Nicole Steve Mullen ended up being an 11 and a half minute oratorio, which became I added a 65 piece orchestra to it. And then I took it to her and the 65 piece orchestral accompaniment, and we went to Israel, and I shot her my first directorial adventure and it was just magic for me. And it was magic for her and it turned out millions and millions and millions of viewers have seen the God who sees. On the basis of that reaction. I'd like to say the success of it, because whatever we do in the name of the lord, whether one person sees it or a millions, it's successful if we've been faithful to the calling to it. So I'm careful with that word, but I'm talking about the success in terms of how people reacted to it. How people responded and how they continue to three and a half years later still. I was ready to kill myself. They'll write me. When you read the responses at the comments at the end of the God of season on YouTube, there is fresh as if they were three and a half years ago. But that's a beauty of things living on. Well past what used to think was their shelf life. And people say, I saw this and it broke my heart, the beauty of it, and the truth of it. And watching hagar and watching Ruth and watching David suffer in the wilderness, I'm suffering in my wilderness and to think that God sees me after all these centuries is just it changed my life. I'm not going to kill myself. Or I took this into the hospital. My mother was dying. She was in hospice, and I thought she was gone, but I played it for her. And she came, we've had these kinds of reactions. She came lucid and asked Jesus into her heart. And I know she went straight into his arms. I mean, when I see that kind of reaction, I know that's the work of the Holy Spirit and it encourages me to keep doing what I'm doing..

Why Kathie Lee Gifford Cowrote 'The God of the Way'
"Remember I promised that we would have Kathie Lee Gifford on the program. Why just say stuff like that? You know, we're not going to get her. But then somebody said to me, no, no, no, no, no, no. We got her up. We got her up. And we put some makeup on her, and she's willing to go on your program. And here she is, Kathie Lee Gifford walker. Hey, hello, Eric. It's so nice to see you all back in New York. And my old stomping ground. Well, you cheer me up whether you want to or not. And as you know, I was just talking to rabbi Jason so bell about the book that you two did together. It's your second book with him. So bowl, soba. Where do you tease him? So Bill? I'm lucky I know how to pronounce rabbi. So he lost your arm. You're back. So he, but so I talked to him about the nitty Gritty of it. But why are you doing this second book with him? What is your interest in the subject of this book? Well, the second book of ours after Iraq warden rabbi is very, very different. It has a different purpose. This book supports the film that I've written called the way. And it's a 74 minute series of four oratorios, which chronicled the faith journey from the dawn of creation to the building of a nation, the hebrews, although it was the conquering of the promised land, all the way through to the messiah's coming. The Significance of the Burning Thorn Bush
"Appears to Moses in the burning bush, but the Hebrew said that's a burning thorn bush. Well, why is that important because the thorn bush is a symbol of pain and suffering. God's saying, I feel your pain. It's why when Jesus dies on the cross, he has a crown of thorns on his head because he's taking on himself not only the curse of creation, the ground will produce thorns and thistles, he's taking upon himself as the greater Moses, the pain of the people and saying, I feel your pain. It's why he dies on the cross because enter the world through a tree. So God puts the second atom back on the tree for you and me to undo what the first Adam did. So there's all these deeper connections.

"7. Hey there, kids. This is the aircraft to show American taxis and I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. Kathie Lee Gifford your friends call you Kathy. Is that not true? So what's with the lead thing? What is that all about? Isn't that a Jimmy glick kind of question? What is that all about? Are you hiding something? Well, I did give it a click. I think the first question actually, what is this Jesus thing? Did he do that? Yeah, yeah, that's where he went right off the bat. I'm pretty sure I watched that. I just wish and Jesus and that's what he started out. See, I had a chance to give my testimony on the chimney click. Yes. Yeah, I mean, it's just why are we afraid? Why are we afraid to proclaim our lord? And let people see us vulnerable and real and I think, but I love a perfect God. And he loves me anyway. And he tells me that he wants me to love people that are also not perfect. This is crazy talk. Listen, you know I'm with you and I love it. So what led you to write a book with the title, the Jesus I know. Now there's what do you mean the Jesus, I know. And then why honest conversations and diverse opinions about who he is? What do you mean? Because in the course of my life, I've discovered that most everybody has a concept of Jesus. And very few people are repelled by him or revolted by him unless there's some sort of satanic influence. But people that are not challenged in that way, even the demons recognized him. You know, he's a force to be reckoned with. And I find that fascinating. I like to find out from people. What is your concept of them? When did you first hear about him? And what did you think? And do you even believe he was a historical figure, not just because they've been trying for years to say David never was existed Solomon never existed? And now they're finding all kinds of things in Israel, confirming that. You know, I've just written a book about this. I've got a copy for you in the other room. Oh, good. I'm not even kidding. It is the evidence is you can not insane not ignore it. That's called willful ignorance. When you just ignore that kind of evidence, that's perfect word. So anyway, and here's the story about the end of the story with Craig. I want to, at the end of our shoot, he says, you know, Kathy. I still don't believe in your guy. And I said I love that. I said they were Ferguson would say. Yes. Your guy. Your guy. And I said, you mean our guy? And he goes, okay, our guy. And then I said, I know that. I love you. You know I love you. And here's the thing I do know about you Craig, that you would agree that nobody ever lived a more loving, gracious, respectful, forgiving life and taught us more about how to love and live and forgive than Jesus. And he goes 100%. And I said to him, welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven. Wow. Hey, this is getting good. That's the kind of stories in here. Kevin Costner called me. I didn't know Kevin. I've never met. I can never get that guy off the phone. I know. After water world, I could not get rid of it. Our son loved water world, so we were happy when we called him and said, he was like, he loved it. 9 year olds loved waterworld. So anyway, I didn't know him at the time. And he called me when I was accused of sweatshop abuses. So this is a long time. A long time ago that this was 1990. I just want to say, I remember, I didn't know you as a friend then, but I remember when you went through that. And I and I'm sure many Americans, I was so angry because I could see how wicked people can be. Yeah, it was a complete lie, and it was only perpetrated so that the Walmart would become unionized. That's it in a nutshell. But that's not why we're here. Here's the story. Kevin calls me out of the blue. He says hi, Kevin Costner. And I just want you to know that what they're doing to you makes me sick, just like what you're saying. And you seem to have a light and they're trying to put out your light and I'm just shocked because and that light is light at the world, and then he said this, and then he said, he said, so just remember Cathy, greater is he that is in you that he that is in the world. And I went, you grew up in the church. You grew up. He goes, and he starts to chuckle that Kevin chuckle. Yeah. And he said, he said, yeah, I grew up and he said, I don't always obey it. I haven't always followed it, but yeah. And we became great friends. Great friends. I am so happy to hear this. She's amazing. He's got a piece of man of integrity. Is those kinds of stories? Exactly, and a lot of people are in my business. But they're not as open as I am many, many times. They will lean over to me during commercial break. And they're praying for you sister. Or I heard you the other day on whatever. And you were talking about Jesus and I thought, oh, thank you, lord bless her. But they don't. You know, and so I just since then I've just prayed for them that they would be more and more open about their faith because Jesus said if you don't stand up for me. You know, I have to then go and stand before the father on your behalf. I want Jesus going over to the father and saying she was good. She didn't miss an opportunity opened her mouth. In fact, even too much. Even too much for me. Slow down, cats, slow down..

"Hello. I'm talking to Kathy Lee Gifford or is it Kathie Lee Gifford? Kathy, you have a new book out called the Jesus I know honest conversations diverse opinions about who he is. Who do you talk to in this book? Because you just have a zillion celebrity. Yeah, you know, that was the first prayer. Once I agreed to do the book because of my agent, he said, Kathy, that was my most fascinating stories. Would you ever do a whole book of things like that? I don't know, let me pray about that. Prayed about it and the lord said, yeah. And I said, well, then show me who you want to speak. It's the most eclectic group of people. There's none of them have the same story. And I didn't want to talk to anybody that got saved in a church, never left that church, never got out. I never went anywhere. That's not a self. That's not a story to me. I'm a storyteller. I write Broadway shows. I write books. I write music. So tell me a story that's compelling, not that I don't want people to get saved anywhere they get saved. That's fine. But that doesn't make a book. Right. So all of a sudden I started I think only one person that I asked said no. What does that mean? No, because no. Because my lawyer said, Eric, I don't want you doing this book. You are the biggest celebrity. In the world she needs you for this book to succeed and I don't think you should do it. And I said, okay, I'm not doing it. You know what? You're not the one that was supposed to do it. The lord didn't put you on my heart. Sorry. She had to get serious album. She had a guest. She couldn't just go with the stupid shtick. All right. I would love you to do the next one. Would you stop it? I refuse. Okay, come on. All right, so you've got all this. You wouldn't think have a faith life story to tell. Yes. People like Jimmy Allen, Jimmy all in the country singer. The black countries. I love you. Amazing story. People like Christian Chennai with Broadway star. People like Kris Jenner, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Very few people would believe that she has a very, very long and storied walk with Jesus. Kris Jenner. Of the matriarch. I only know, I didn't know that. See? I did not know. Yeah, yeah. We went to Bible together, a 40 years ago. And we've been friends ever since then, and that's talk about thick and thin Friends, right? We've been through everything together. Everything. And if I got off the phone with you right now, and got on the phone, and I needed something. It would be there. She'd do it. She'd do it. I've done it for her. She does it for me. I'm a friend, and I'm not a fair weather one. You know, I want to be if I'm a friend, I'm your friend. You know. So anyway, there are people like that. There are people like, oh gosh, they're faith healers. Tell their story. There are profits that tell people anybody that I would know. You should know Joanne moody and you should know QB sin and you will have to know them. Yes, because you haven't read the book. But anyway, read the book now..

"A lot to talk about. Okay. The book is called the Jesus I know honest conversations on the verse opinions about who he is. Before we get into this, though, I still have to ask you, you were a young woman who knew you wanted to go into show business. And I was called to it. You know, you were called different point, good point. Yes. Because if you're called to it. And I got so much flack as a young woman. I would be a terrible missionary in Ethiopia. Well, I was not made for that. Before you, yeah, wish missionaries aren't allowed to drink wine and Ethiopia. That's not that the point yes it is. So you so how did you start out in the business? Because, you know, you have one of these careers, you've been in the public eye, your whole adult life. Not everybody knows where you started, how you started. Yeah, I started as a singer first with my sister singing professionally. And I thought group called Pennsylvania next right. And we did clubs and stuff like that. The village door down, something to work. I think village door, down in Washington, D.C., and I think I'm getting that name wrong. But anyway, but you're making you sound older than you are. You're not old enough to have been part of the original folk scene like in the mighty wind or anything. But I know what you're talking about. The tail, you know, I grew up on the jump by and you grew up Mary and all of you. Yes. But yeah, I was born in 1953. So I was, you know, I was a part of the Jesus revolution that Jesus people at that point. But you know, that's the thing that's what you're getting at is. I never have separated the secular from the spiritual. I think it's a mistake to do that. I always have to correct. It's a mistake from the pit of hell. It is absolutely. People act when people say it's a mistake. I always want to say it's evil. It is it leads to every kind of terrible thing. It's one of the reasons I've always admired you is because you don't do that. You understand that truth is one. So you were not, so you're a singer, you and your sister were singers. And then I became an actress. It out in Los Angeles. And what how did that work? What kind of work did you get? Commercials first. Okay. And that led to an acting role on a soap opera called Days of Our Lives. But you see, here's the thing. All the people who thought it was terrible that I wanted to be in show business. I said, I would say to them, God is going to use me there. That is my mission field. When I can share the lord and the hope that is within me with people that would never pick up a Bible, throw it down or they'd rip it up or they'd burn it, never they won't go there. And for good reasons, lots of them. Because it's not very appealing. Because religious compete people can be the worst people. There's self righteousness is unbelievable. And the only people got Jesus ever got angry with, were the pharisees in the sadducees. And the ones that were sinners and prostitutes and every manner of evil, he just loved on them. But the pharisees had hardened hearts and the statistics, they were they were the power of grabbers. They were the man. They were the machine, and they, Jesus threatened their power, because the power of Jesus love and forgiveness and his miracles was seducing. They thought, seducing the people. I didn't bring my notebook out here, but literally yesterday, Suzanne, my current wife, and I 25 years. The only one I've never really we were reading where Jesus raises Lazarus. And sometimes you read these things and it's almost funny. The response of the pharisees. You think are they making this up? I know. They were on real time. What the heck are we going to do now? Another instead of saying, wow, he's raising the dead. Maybe it's the Maasai. The response was, this is bad news. This is going to be we are going to lose. I can't remember the exact phrase, but we are going to lose our power. It's almost exactly like that. The people had no affection for the sick varices and such disease anyway. But their entire culture, as you know, was surrounding was about the temple, and they controlled the temple. And if they wanted to, and they'd be thrown out of community, if they didn't follow all the rules, it's also 600 extra ones that the fairest show that I'm going to go to Israel with Kathie Lee. We're going to go with my teachers. I know I know I know. I want to talk to you about that..

"Folks I'm talking to Kathy Gifford, and you're not. But here's the thing. I get to, I get to share this with the group. I was saying off the air that it's impossible for me because I know you're funny and I want to do stick with it. I want to be jiminy glick. And love. I can't help. But by the way, I did it. So did you? Yes. There is nobody that I love more than Martin Short. No, he's absolutely genius. Thinking genius and one of the he was so, so good to me. He's very sweet man to me. Not like those others. Not like Howard Stern. Hey. But even Howard Stern. Even Howard Stern, after 30 years of praying for him asked me to forgive him. I know. So, you know what? I know. That's why I can't stand this cancel culture. You know what? Jesus never canceled anybody. Jesus went out of his way to find people. Find the destitute, find the broken find the ones that had been thrown out of community, thrown out of relationships, dying from disease. You were that you were the person who went out looking for. And then when he had his disciples, he said, oh yeah, and if you're going to follow me, you're going to go there too. You're going to go to the other side, where the unloved the unclean. The saved live. And you're going to you're not going to say, you're going to go to hell if you don't believe in me. You're going to say, I'm going to love you like Jesus does. And that's how we're going to that's how we're going to fill the kingdom up. With people because they were loved. Jesus, and you love because I first loved you. And it all comes out of a place of love. And we've always gotten that wrong in western

"Welcome to the Eric metaxas show with your host, Eric, the taxes. Hey there folks. I've got a lot of special guests on this program, unfortunately today, the best we could do is Kathie Lee Gifford, Kathy, welcome. Because she has nothing else to do. You got nothing to do, Kathy. Kathy, you are one of those people I told you this before. You make me happy. I start cracking stupid jokes because that's the way I think it is. Well you better. But that's the wavelength Iran that you're funny. You can do shtick. You can sing. And then you write books. And so the reason you're in the studio today is not to sing, although perhaps you will. I might break into ladies and gentlemen. Pray that I don't. What do you say? She ain't what she used to be. But you have a book out. So that's ostensibly why you're here. But I've known you for quite a long time. Yes. And you are a woman of faith, and the thing that I say to people, and I've said this for years, I don't know if I've said this to you publicly, but what I've always felt we needed in the culture and I've always wanted to try to be one of those people. Is a public figure who is openly Christian. And whenever I talk about that, I immediately go to you because I think who has been out there over the years who has just been leading her life as a public figure, not as a Christian figure, but who is nonetheless openly Christian. And I really think that that's kind of the missing piece in the culture because we've divided. We've got the Christian faith over here, and then we've got the rest of the world here. And anybody with common sense knows that's nonsense. Right. But very few people are willing to live that out. You're one of them. In fact, you might be two or three of them. And I want to say thank you. Sweetie. You know, I've always had a boldness about my faith. I've always had an awareness, even a 12 year old girl when I first asked Jesus to be in my heart that the answer right away. Yeah. To who much is given much is required. Once I started learning scripture, but I was sitting in a little movie theater in Annapolis, Maryland, and God already knew that I wanted to be an actress and a singer and a writer. He knew that I came out of the womb with a rim shot in a prep fall. You know, I mean, people do. And there's a reason for it. God, what everything I am and everything you are, was woven in our mother's wombs into us. Are you saying that our parents were drinking? Is that the issue? No. Something went wrong. Something. No. That's the stick you're talking about. I do my I can do. Yes. I didn't know the lord. I was not born into a religious home, thank you, lord. And what I was born into a home that honored God, my father was Jewish, my mother was a gentile. And we honored God. But we didn't have organized religion in our home. You were not, so you weren't really even raised Jewish. You were raised pretty much secular. We love to go to Baltimore to Lombard street and get the locks and the bagels and all and the Jewish culture was part of my new stuff. We're going to edit that out by the way. I'm not that joke. But I'm a New Yorker and being in New York or I feel like I'm culturally Jewish. So I get this. I think there are a lot of people in this world are cultural Christian culturally Jewish culturally Muslim. I know some friends that have never read the Quran, but they consider themselves Muslim. Right. I have read the Quran. And I'm not a Muslim. But I wanted to understand it. So I wanted to understand I want to understand a lot of things. And I never will understand everything perfectly, but I'm a student at heart. And by the end of this show, you'll be very close. Very close to what? To understanding everything. Oh, yeah. Albin and I we've got it all lined up. Good. I'm gonna get you straightened out. In 40 minutes, I think we can do it in 40 minutes..

"The Rock and roll oh brother. Yeah, I'm still in tears. Oh brother. All right, folks. Let's get serious here for a second. Enough joking around. No, we just we've been serious. It's wonderful talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. I want to say a few things. Number one, please do what you can to share these interviews on social media, we need your help. I haven't mentioned too much recently, but we were knocked off of YouTube. The more time passes, the more I realize how insane that is, that YouTube saw this program as such a threat. I mean, think about this. Think about this. I told you. It's like I like to know what it is that we're doing. But no kidding, they knocked us off of YouTube, huge hit financially, huge in many ways. So I'm just being the more bold and asking you, make sure you sign up for our newsletter. You go to Eric metaxas dot com. That's Eric metaxas dot com. Sign up for the newsletter. Share these videos. We did an amazing interview with Mike lindell the other day. Man, as a hero, we did the interview today. Obviously, with Kathie Lee Gifford, just tremendous important interviews, but we do need your help. We need you to share this stuff. So go to Eric Montage dot com sign up for the newsletter. So you'll get these things emailed to you and you can share them. Please share them on social media. I try to share these things on gab, on parler, on Twitter, on getter, on Facebook, wherever we can do that. But we really do need your help. So I'm bluntly asking you for your help and speaking of asking for your help. We're doing a fundraiser with Christian solidarity, international. We're able to free slaves. This is one of these things that you can't make it up that there is true evil in the world, but the great news. And again, I can't even believe it. As wicked and horrible as it is to acknowledge that something that horrifying is going on, then you think, wait a minute, we can actually do something about it. We don't just have to weep and pray. We can weep and pray and then do something totally positive. For $250, then by the way, I want to encourage people to give whatever you can and makes no difference. Whatever you want to give. But if you can give $250, or you can pull it together with the kids, you can free a slave. I mean, folks, we talked about this with Kevin Macaulay yesterday, not just to free a slave, but to set them up in life so that they're freed, but then we set them up so that they can function. And it's just so beautiful to get a goat and all that. And it's all in time for Christmas too. I mean, think about the Christmas season for us here in America. Think about a slave being freed in time to celebrate a Christian holiday. I want to say it is so beautiful and so moving. Now by the way, here's two things that we can say. So if you want to do this in somebody's name, you say, we free to slave in your name. That's what we did for Christmas. You know, dad, mom. $250. Now, if there's anybody out there who can give $2500 to free ten slaves, I want to say that we have this is a hat, a make America great again hat, given to me by the president of the United States, Donald Trump. Okay, I didn't buy it. He gave it to me. Yesterday I said he gave me two of these. We found a third one, okay? So we have three of these. I also have the pen that he used to sign a number of them, obviously he didn't sign these, but he did give us the hat, he gave me the hat, and he gave me the pen. And I would love to sign this to you or to anyone who's able to free ten slaves, give $2500 to Christian solidarity international. You have to go to metaxas, talk dot com. That's a radio website, metaxas talk dot com. But obviously the first three people that give 2500, right? And you only have three. You're going to sign your name not the president's now. I will sign my name. But I will sign it to somebody if you say, I want this, you know, to my uncle Jim or to Bradley Cooper, to Lady Gaga, anybody that you know who's been who's been in a film. But in all seriousness, it's a great opportunity. So I want to say that. And then I always say this. Anybody can give $10,000, folks. It would be my honor to have dinner with you to we do this all the time. You set it up. It could be 20 people, it could be three people, but if we're in the same town, it would be my honor to spend that kind of time with you. So please do go to my taxes talk dot com and or you can call 8 8 8 two 5 three 5 22 8 8 8 two 5 three three 5 22. This is urgent. This is important, great opportunity. Thank you..

"Wow, wow. Wow. How? Alvin. Oh, yeah. I don't know if you've been paying attention, but I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. Yeah. And it's a fascinating conversation. We pre taped it. So I can say in advance that it gets even more fascinating. Do we want to tell people? I don't know. Well, I think so because Howard Stern is a big mucking muck big name, she goes into what happens between the two of them that will bring tower to if you don't cry, you're a monster. No. Seriously, you're not a man. It's a true story. It's a true story. And I've heard her share a little bit of it before, but in our two, which is coming up, we get into all kinds of stuff, but she gets into that. And it's really beautiful. And Kathy Lee Gifford is the real deal. I love her. She's a dear dear soul. She's the real deal, and I am just thrilled that she has this book out and it gives her an excuse to come on this program and talk about all this stuff. Okay, we've got a couple of important things to say. First of all, tomorrow, it's Friday. We're airing an interview with not David Barton. No, no, no. His son, Tim Barton, who is the president of wall builders. We talk about critical race theory, the 1619 Project. We talk about squanto, Thanksgiving. That's tomorrow. On this program. That's number one. Number two, I want to say that we are doing a fundraiser. This month with Christian solidarity international. And I said this yesterday and I will say it again and again and again, this is an amazing opportunity folks because I think that the worst things get, the darker things get, where we're just thinking, what's going on in the country? What is happening? Without getting into those details, I think it's important for us to look to God and to do good things when we can. And one of the things that we can do in the midst of the craziness is go to metaxas talk dot com and click on the banner for CSI and free someone from slavery. Again, it sounds like we're making that up. This is 2021. We're talking about people in slavery. Yes, it's a big world, and in this world there are places where they still have slavery. The good news is that we can do something about it. And I want to say that we all get gifts we don't need. We all give gifts that aren't really we're just we're just doing it to do it. But I want to say that you can do something here that's so beautiful and so valuable. In somebody's name, you can say to your uncle, your grandfather, your parent, your mom, your dad, you can say, listen, we didn't know what to get you. We know you have everything you need because we're really blessed. But we wanted with $250, we freed a slave in southern Sudan. If you listen to the program yesterday, you know these details. You can give anything, but I'm saying $250 is the magic number. And it is hard for me to communicate this idea that as bad as things are, you can do something unbelievably beautiful and true and good. And so I want to encourage you to go to the banner at our website. It's metaxas talk dot com. Click on the banner. And we'll give the phone number a few times because it's important. 8 8 8 two 5 three three 5 22 8 8 8 two 5 three three 5 22. I really just want to reiterate that this is an opportunity. This is an amazing thing. People say, what can I do? When you do something like this, folks, oh my goodness, it just blesses everybody and think about it. There are people whose lives will be changed because of you. You can do this with get all the kids to chip in for $250 and to do something like this. So the number is 8 8 8 two 5 three three 5 22. We'll be back with Kathie Lee in just a few minutes. And at the end of the hour at the end of hour two, I want to tell you a couple of things that I haven't had the time to tell you right now. So stick around, but do go to metaxas talk dot com..

"It's like Ann Miller. It's got like. It's just got legs. Yes. I just wanted to throw in a reference. That just, oh yeah. Can I stay back? And I only want to get like nobody had to pick like him. No, I only want to talk to people who get those stupid references. So thank you. Well, thank you being old enough to get the in Miller. My pleasure. No, I mean, my wife and I just watch Turner classic movies all the time all the time. They've been made with such skill. What else is there? Well, then you're really gonna like then came here 'cause it's an homage to those kinds of pillow talk kind of yeah. And by the way, speaking of pillow talk, I just did. I just did a Kathie Lee Gifford mug. Did you see that? I just did one of these. But pillow talk, they've had Doris Day on recently. Like endless, like you eventually get sick of it. It's like enough Doris. I love her. And Tony Randall and like they're the greatest but like Rock Hudson. Well, obviously, you know something I had since we're doing showbiz anecdotes and we're at a time. Pat Boone has been on the show many times. He told me the story of praying on the deathbed with Rock Hudson to accept Jesus the day before he passed away. When you hear stories like this, I just want to weep and we we're out of time folks the book is the Jesus I know the author is Kathie Lee Gifford Cathy. Thank you. You live your life in the songs you hear on.

"American Texas and I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. Kathie Lee Gifford, your friends call you Kathy. Is that not true? So what's with the lead thing? What is that all about? Isn't that a Gemini kind of question? What is that all about? You hiding someone. But I did too many click. I think the first question actually, what is this Jesus thing? Did he do that? Yeah, yeah, that's where he went right off the bat. I'm pretty sure I watched that. I just wish and Jesus and that's what he started out. See, I had a chance to give my testimony on the Jimmy clip. Yes. Yeah, I mean, it's just why are we afraid? Why are we afraid to proclaim our lord? And let people see us vulnerable and real and I think but I love a perfect God, and he loves me anyway. And he tells me that he wants me to love people that are also not perfect. This is crazy talk. Listen, you know I'm with you and I love it. So what led you to write a book with the title, the Jesus I know. Now this is what do you mean the Jesus I know and then why honest conversations and diverse opinions about who he is? What do you mean? Because in the course of my life, I've discovered that most everybody has a concept of Jesus. And very few people are repelled by him or revolted by him unless there's some sort of satanic influence. But people that are not challenged in that way, even the demons recognized him. He's a force to be reckoned with. And I find that fascinating. I like to find out from people. What is your concept of them? When did you first hear about him? And what did you think? And do you even believe he was a historical figure, not just because they'd been trying for years to say David never was existed Solomon never existed? And now they're finding all kinds of things in Israel, confirming that. You know, I've just written a book about this. I've got a copy for you in the other room. Oh, good. I'm not even kidding. It is the evidence is you can not insane not ignore it. That's called willful ignorance when you just ignore that kind of that kind of evidence. That's perfect word. So anyway, and here's the story about the end of the story with Craig. It's always at the end of our shoot. He says, you know, Kathy. I still don't believe in your guy. And I said I love that. I said he would Ferguson would say. Yes. Your guy. Your guy. And I said, you mean our guy? And he goes, okay, our guy. And then I said, I know that. I love you. You know, I love you. And here's the thing I do know about you, Craig, that you would agree, that nobody ever lived a more loving, gracious, respectful, forgiving life. And taught us more about how to love and live and forgive than Jesus. And he goes 100%. And I said to him, welcome to the Kingdom of Heaven. Wow. Hey, this is getting good. That's the kind of stories in here. Kevin Costner called me one after I didn't know Kevin. I'd never met. I could never get that guy off the phone. I know. After water world, I could not get rid of him. He our son loved waterworld, so he was happy when we called him and said he was like, he loved it. 9 year olds loved waterworld. So anyway, I didn't know him at the time. And he called me when I was accused of sweatshop abuses. So this is a long time. Long time ago that this was 1990. He says, hi, Kevin Costner. And I just want you to know that what they're doing to you makes me sick, just like what you're saying. And you seem to have a light and they're trying to put out your light and I'm just still shocking. And that light is light at the world, and then he said this, and then he said, he said, so just remember Cathy, greater is he that is in you that he that is in the world. And I went, you grew up in the church. You grew up in the he goes, and he starts to chuckle that Kevin chuckle. Yeah. And he said, he said, yeah, I grew up and he said, I don't always obey it. I haven't always followed it, but yeah. And we became great friends. Great friends. I am so happy to hear this. He's amazing. He's got a man of integrity. Is those kinds of stories? Exactly, and a lot of people are in my business. But they're not as open as I am many, many times. They will lean over to me during commercial break, and they're praying for you sister. Or I heard you the other day on whatever. And you were talking about Jesus and I thought, oh, thank you, lord bless her. But they don't. You know? And so I just since then, I've just prayed for them that they would be more and more open about their faith because Jesus said, if you don't stand up for me, you know, I have to then go and stand before the father on your behalf. I want Jesus going over to the father and saying she was good. She didn't miss an opportunity opened her mouth. In fact, even too much. Even too much for me. Slow down, cats, slow down. You well, again, it gets to what I was saying when I was first introducing you here is that that's what I've always valued about you because that's something that God's put on my heart that we have to, in a sense, pioneer a public stance. What does it mean to be a Christian in public life? It doesn't mean talking about Jesus every second. Oh, but at the same time, it means when the opportunity arises, you know, not hiding it. And you know what, was it Augustine, who said, preach the gospel at all times, but when necessary use work? You now know Soupy Sales. I always get them confused. I always get them confused. But the point is well taken. If you're not, don't talk about it if your life is not going to be evidence of it. You know, because that's not going to help the Kingdom of Heaven. That's not going to advance his cause, which is the gospel gospel means good news. Good news is that God loves us. And he loves everybody he's created. And his whole shtick is to bring all of humankind back to the Tibet of the father's house. That's throwing in some of those Jewish terms. Yes. Bit of that of the father's house. I thought seen it so bet L is God's house. But it's obvious the father. Is the father of the father's house. You've been hanging out with that rabbi so bell haven't you? Sobel? Sobel? And others, many, many others. I know. They're great. Scholars of the word. And this is the biggest issue and you know this because you're a scholar yourself. The biggest problem with the Bible. Is that it's been transposed way too many times badly badly. Sloppily. And no worse one than the King James version..

"Dark ocean hey folks, I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. Look, there she is. Ta-da. All the way up from. You now, you spend most of your time in the Nashville area. Yes. But you still spend some time up here in the Connecticut area not very much. My son and his beautiful new wife are living there right now as they plan their next chapter in life. And my daughter and her new husband are living down near me and Tennessee. Yeah, I'm a Tennessee resident. Proud. Really? Proud tennessean. All right. Love it. Every time I get down there, I was thinking to you, I have more and more Friends down there. I can't even remember who, but every time I go down there it's the culture. There's certain places that are just, yeah. First of all, it's a cool place. And second of all, it's an amazing creative community there and amazing faith community. A real seekers of truth. These are not pew sitters. And I am not putting people down. Whatever reason they go to church is well, because I don't want to be that person. I'm just saying, there is such a difference. I want to be that person. I want to put them down. If you're sitting or cut it out, stay home, figure it out. Okay, in the book, the Jesus, I know, you relate conversations that you've had. And this is important, Kathy, because again, when I'm with you, I joke around so much, but this is at the very heart of everything. How do you talk to people about ultimate issues, the thing that has changed your life and changed my life? When they're not on the same page. So how has that worked out for you? Because being in show business, you've bumped into tons of people, some of whom would be openly hostile, others would be curious, mystified. First of all, I pray before I do any project, and I say lord, whoever you want me to be with, whoever you want me to meet or talk to show me, and then let the Holy Spirit communicate in my inner woman, my inner spirit, what you want me to say. Don't worry about what you'll say. The lord will give you utterance. So I usually and this is happens quite a bit. I don't say anything. People just start to talk to me. They'll start to talk to me. And they'll ask a question. And that has happened more and more and more as people know that that's where I'm coming from. They don't run from it. In fact, one of the great stories is when I was written a movie for my friend Craig Ferguson and I to do and shot it in the highlands. And then came wait a minute. First of all, your Friends with Craig Ferguson adore him. Okay, he is brilliantly funny. I love him. But I didn't know that you were friends with him, and then you're telling me you wrote a movie with him. What does that mean? No, I wrote a movie for him for him. Yes. And recently? Yeah, it just came out last year. It was the number one movie in the country. I'm pretty sure I was in a coma. It was during COVID. And it was, you know, didn't get the available, though. It's called you. Then came you then came you, it's a romantic comedy for people who don't think that romance will ever be in their life again and nothing's funny. And so I was with Craig for a week hosting The Today Show. And we had to have a delay on because he was so dangerous. It was the most explosive television I'd done in my life. And that's saying a lot. What do you mean? No, you know, we're bad little children we were together. We get in trouble. We say bad things. And we bring out the naughty in one another. And I love it. So we had this incredible week. And that's you to being you. If somebody was doing Kathy Lee Gifford, they would say what you just said. But that was so good. I can't help myself. That was the distillation of you. Yeah, so anyway we had so much fun. There he said, let's write a movie. Let's write a movie together. Yeah. And I said, okay, well, he left for LA and that night wrote the movie. At least 6 chapters of it. So what is that? It's about a widow. He showbiz, we don't call him chapters. No, I know. But I'm here for the book, so I'm on bookmark. The movie. Let it go. I've been leave that in. A little mercy goes a long, long way, and especially in the world today. Long story short, it's not about the movie today. It's just about the fact that while we were in on set, we have a lot of time waiting around waiting to shoot. And he said, you know, he said, the most interesting, because he knows I love Ricky Gervais too. Ricky is my favorite atheist in the world. And Craig is my favorite agnostic in the whole world. I just love these men. Why? Well, that's what he said. Why do you love me? We're not good guys. We don't believe anything that you believe. Party anything. Why do you love us? And I said, well, why wouldn't I love you? You're funny. You're smart. You make me laugh my tail off. You are a joy to be with. And God loves you, and I love everybody God loves. So why wouldn't I love you? And this is the crux of it. He's looked at me very seriously and he goes, you know, Cathy. He said, no person of faith has ever told me oriki that they love me. Really? Uh huh. And I said, well, you know what? You've never met a real person. Well, isn't this, see, this is what's so why I love talking to you because it is an interesting thing when you talk to people that aren't on the same page as we are. They have tremendous preconceived notions as though you're going to be judging them immediately or something like that. And what you're saying, what you just said is true. In a way, they've not really met people of faith. They've met, I don't know. That religious people they've met may be fragments of people, but they haven't really seen that. And it does surprise them and it mystifies them. I mean, I've said this to you. There are people in my life like dick cavet. I love him so much. And I know he doesn't agree with me politically or but spiritually. But in my guts, I think, who cares? Love is love. You love someone. Jesus loved us before we were on the page that we are now on. That's kind of the point of love. That's the biblical love, agape love. You don't wait for reciprocation. You just you love. And so there's so many people like that and I've had many of.

"Just to pick up a few extra bucks. And I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford, the book is the Jesus. I know, honest conversations and diverse opinions about who he is. So it seems like already in the title Cathy, you are, you're kind of going out of your way to make a statement that the Jesus that we hear about or that a lot of people have heard about is not quite who Jesus is. In other words, a lot of people have gotten a lot of bad religious ideas about Jesus, and they have kept him at arm's length. And you, in your life, have made an effort to have conversations with people to lead him to who Jesus really is. I believe that Jesus shows up in people's lives in different ways. He's a custom made God. He loves us as individuals. That's why I can't stand this cookie cutter mentality in the culture we live in today look like I do. Breathe like I do. Worship like I do vote like I do, you know, speak just all the same mumbo jumbo. I repel it from it because I recoil from it because that's the antithesis of what God did when he created us. It's so much trouble. Snowflakes have a completely different DNA, millions and billions and billions. And we do too. And then the world tries to make us all the same. And I just believe that that's also why I left college. I went to a Christian college and I left. Because I knew I was different and I said, they should not mess with my difference. God is not pleased when we mess with people's differences. We're like, we're offending him. Wait a minute, I made Eric to be a smart butt. You know to act that way. You know, he can work on that compliment or what was that? He can work on some of it, we'll work together, but our idiosyncrasies and our piccadilly and all those kinds of things are what make us unique. And since you're challenging me now to correct you when you did piccadilly pick it up. Take a little puck a little pick a little bit. Pick a lot, pick it a little. I knew he'd sing eventually. So look, you you've met so many people. You must have met people that were very put off. We mentioned earlier Howard Stern. For some reason for years, he just decided to publicly hate on you. Oh, wow. Why? I don't know, and I don't it doesn't matter. He did. I think it's because hurt people hurt people. And when he finally called me, and begged for forgiveness. Why? Why would he do that? Because do you really want to hear that whole story? Do we have time for that? Well, I mean, I'm just curious what would precipitate something like that. From here I was at the studio one day and I was leaving that afternoon because my son was going to be graduated from college and I was getting my hair and makeup up done upstairs and on a studio monitor, I saw that he had just walked in. He was just announcing that he was going to be the judge on America's Got Talent. So there was this huge group of people going in. And I didn't know he was going to be on the show. And everybody was terrified that he and I might cross this paths because of this ongoing whatever for 30 years food. And I see, I look up and I go, oh, I didn't know he was going to be on today. And the lord speaks directly to my heart and says, I want you to go downstairs and say hello to him and welcome him. I said, okay, lord. So I get up out of my seat. My hair and makeup people freak out because they're supposed to say, I'm supposed to be safe away from Howard Stern. I go downstairs. I'm 5 5. He's 6, 6, or something like that. There's a thousand people in the studio. I've got no hair and makeup on. I've got dressed from this country where I just come in from. And upstate. And he powered Howard looking up and he's going looking around and who's calling him. And he looks down at me because I'm so much shorter. And I said, hi, Kathie Lee. I thought it was about time we said hello. And I just want to congratulate you on the new show and wish you all the best. And he goes, he's just freaked. He goes, yeah, it's crazy. And it's crazy. I said, all the best to you. And I went back, sat down, got my hair and makeup done. And they're all going, what did you do? What did you say? I said, I just told him alone and wished him well. Lord told me to, so I did. I get to California and the phone rings and it's Howard. And he's basically he's a wreck. Just direct and begging. He uses such bad language I can't tell you what he said because I'm of this. I'm of that. And you were so nice to me. Why were you so nice to me? After everything I've said about you and your husband and your kids. This is like out of fiction. I mean, this is so beautiful. I'm so glad you're telling this because I don't recall hearing this. This is the definition of what's supposed to happen. Isn't it? It is. And he was crying. And he said, I just, will you please forgive me? And I said, Howard, you know what? I am so happy for you, that you have come to this place where you realize that it's important to make amends with people that you've hurt. I want you to have peace. I want you to shalom in your life. It's so important that you have God's peace. I said, but I got to tell you, I forgave you 30 years ago. And I've been praying for you every single day since then. Because that's true. I still do. I still pray for him in Beth every day. And he goes, what? You've been praying for me. And I said, yes, and I can not tell you how wonderful it is to hear from you today. Thank you for calling me and would you like to have dinner? We'd love to have you for dinner. He goes, you'd have me at your house? My husband wasn't too thrilled about that. But I said, absolutely. Now I never was able to do it, but he asked me to his house, I couldn't go 'cause I was out of town, but I've seen him since then. And he's very friendly. It's one of those things that took 30 years to be accomplished. But I was faithful every day to pray for my enemy. He's not an enemy I chose. He chose to be my enemy. I'd never met the man never heard his show never anything. I didn't know where it was coming from, except for the pit of hell, because all that kind of evil does come from the bit of well, with people like him, I mean, I have loved and hated Howard Stern through the decades. Because what I recommend guys, what I recognize in him, what I appreciate in him and much of which I aspire to myself is a kind of truth telling no nonsense call it like it is. Honesty, genius humor. Now of course he takes the places that we wouldn't. But I have admired that. About him. No, God gave him extraordinary gifts. It's how he uses them. You know? And I think Beth his wife has been a great influence on him. She's a very loving soft spoken, humble kind of I've only met her when she came on our show. I've interviewed her. She's very, very likeable girl. And she's been a good influence on him. And I think he started getting some help. He told me he's been going to therapy. And he said, I'm effed up. I messing this, I'm so effing that. I said, no, your loved of God, Howard. God loves you. God loves you. He's just been waiting for you to understand that, you know? I can just hear him saying, what a nightmare I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. It's so funny because he appreciates the irony because of how real he is of course. Of course. Well, we both grew up in Annapolis for the same age and we both Jewish. I didn't know that. He was Baltimore. I was in Annapolis, and we were the same age. And he just, I don't know. You'd have to ask him why he hated me for so long. The beauty of it is that he doesn't anymore. That'd be my dream album. Write this down to have a show where I have Howard and Kathy on and we have a conversation, because there's something so beautiful about all of this. We don't have time. Well, it's called the gospel. It's called well. It's called God's love..

The Eric Metaxas Show
"kathie lee" Discussed on The Eric Metaxas Show
"Your host. Eric metaxas. Hey, folks. We are dropping some bombshells here. I'm talking to Kathie Lee Gifford. She just threw shade at King James. Yes. You know the King James that persecuted the Puritans that came here for religious freedom. That bum, remember, but we say, oh, King James Bible. Kathie Lee, you were just saying that the King James Bible, which was written by 12 committees that it's got some problems. First of all, the people who were transposing it transcribing it, whatever you want to call it from the original Greek and the original Hebrew, had never been to Israel. And so they had no geopolitical or cultural contrasts. You know, it's context. So they said they said, no, I know there are many things that are in the King James that you read it, and you think this feels like 16 O 5, England. Yes, first of all, Jesus did not speak the king's English. Jesus spoke Aramaic Jesus and he spoke Greek. And probably a little bit more because this was a trading post. The villa Morris, the road of the sea, along the Mediterranean, getting ahead of myself too fast Cathy's too fast. Was a major trade route to the north south and down to Africa and north to turkey, and on Asia. And so lots of people came through there. And now the worst thing is that everybody thinks Jesus was had been a Carpenter. Because that's what it says in the king's name. But he was a tekton, which is different. He was a builder. He was a builder. And back then, the only thing you could build with really build with was stone. Jesus was a stone mason. Thank you. Now, why that's important is twofold. Number one, I don't want to be told he was something he wasn't. I wanted to be what it really, would you please tell me what tekton means? It means architect slash builder, which I love because we know that Jesus was with the father and the Holy Spirit. As the architect of all of creation. So that I'm with that. That's cool. In the beginning, was right. And builder. That's where they went wrong. They went, oh, builder. He was a Carpenter like us in England. No, all the buildable trees that are in Israel now were planted after it became a state in 1938. I never thought of this. I never thought Alban that I would learn this kind of level of stuff from Kathy Lee Gifford. She's just a showbiz personality. They're not expecting this kind of stuff. Kathy keep going. No, and so the second part of why it's important, and you know this. Now the scriptures comes to life. Upon this rock, I will build my church. And he didn't mean Peter. He meant the truth that he had just declared that you are the messiah. Upon this truth, I will build my kingdom. And the gates of hell will not prevail against it. Well, the Gates of hell is a real place in near caesarea philippi, where there's a pan. It's an ancient temple to pan. And they think that it was the entrance to hell through this cavernous lagoon, I think. And all sorts of bestiality and sort of things were happening. There were judging. No, Jesus took his disciples there to show them that and to teach them a great truth. No good no good rabbi would ever do that. They would avoid places like that. Jesus took him there to see it. So he would know what the world they needed to go into in his name. So I want to know what tekton means. Another thing you don't learn unless you're studying rabbinically is when I was 12 years old, I got kicked out of Sunday school. When I was 8, I got kicked out of the brownies. And when I was 17, I got kicked out of America's junior miss pageant. This is my sordid life crime. Wow. I was a wild woman, but I got kicked out of the brownies. Yes. I can say, honestly, I was never kicked out of the brownies. That's amazing. I know. What did you do? What are you just so much time with? Yeah. I'm gonna tell you the way I got kicked out of Sunday school. Yeah. Because we were reading the story in the New Testament and we should never talk about old and New Testament either because it's one story is not the Old Testament belongs to the Jews and the New Testament belongs to Christians. It's one very long story based basically in the Jewish faith and Christians have never been taught that in the western world. Right. So anyway, the story about when Jesus came down from the mount of olives, he'd been in Bethany, and he's coming down the mount of olives on that very, very famous road that ultimately he would ride the donkey down for his last week on this earth, and it goes right through the middle of the garden of gassee on either side. As he's walking on that road, which you can still visit, rock road and rabbi baby, there was a tree. It was a sycamore fig tree, and it says Jesus saw the tree, and he was hungry, and he went over to it. And there was what? No fruit because he and so the Bible says he cursed it. He cursed the treat. Now, I remember saying in Sunday school, my I don't believe that. And my Sunday school teacher goes, what? I said, I don't believe that. She goes, it's in the Bible. I said, I know, but I don't think it means that. It couldn't. Jesus would never curse something he created. He loves everything he creates. He wouldn't. But I'm about to kick Kathie Lee off of this show. Kathy, you're going to have to pull this out of the tailspin. What happened? I'm dying to know. She said, I don't think that you should, if you don't believe in the Bible, then I said, that was the story was I didn't want to go to Sunday school anymore. If I couldn't ask questions. And so what happened is now I'm 40 years later, I want a rabbinical trip..
