Canceled Telluride Film Festival announces lineup

"Telluride film festival decided to announce what would have been the slate of films that they were GonNa, show on. September fourth when the festival is supposed to take out, take place before it was cancelled in July, and then we also started to get some news about the New York Film Festival, which will be world premiering a few titles. I. Still don't totally understand how the New, York Film Festival is happening, but let's just talk a little bit about what's going on with film festivals right now. So last year at telluride. They debuted the world premiere of Uncut Gems and Ford versus Ferrari and Judy and first cow, and they had the North American premiere of marriage story. This was a bountiful slate. Lots to see it was a very exciting time. This year, the slate was not a strong. There were some interesting films. There were some very relevant oscar-worthy conversational picks there. I think Francis. Leaves Amanite which many people have been talking about a new movie starring Kate winslet. Insertion Ronin. We're looking for that. How many Oscar nominations to search have at this point twelve fifteen? No. I think it's four, and this will be her fifth, which just seems like I just want to say when we made our really irresponsible Oscar predictions for this year and like having seen nothing I was like I, think Social Ronin will win for this movie that I haven't seen so. At least I think I did I meant to, if I didn't you know please like revised history.

Solving the Murders of Katherine and Sheila Lyon

"Not like we're just talking about it for any kind of thrill. We're talking about it because we need to know what's going on in our society that's making this happen really drew. Okay, so we'll start John. Lyon, met his future wife. Xavier. University in Cincinnati. They were both students there. His wife Mary was from Erlanger Kentucky John was the Chicago. Boy. He worked at a radio station Illinois and Catherine more and they're. Following that John worked in both TV and radio in Peoria. He was on a daytime children's program where he played the guitar and Banjo. And in that same time period, nary was in a folk band. And then she gave birth to their youngest child Joe. She led the older one, didn't always want to spend time with their little sister, but recently, the two would become close played together like friends. But John Woke up that afternoon to an empty house. Mary had gone bowling and the boys were off playing with friends in the neighborhood. Mary came home with their younger boy. Joe Soon, after John Woke up, then he went back to bed for nap before dinner and Mary went and Rick. Some leaves in their backyard. When the sun began to go down, Mary really began to worry about her daughters. They were usually really good about being home for dinner and Sheila would call if they were at a neighbor's house playing. But Sheila had called and there had been no sign of the girls. But this is nineteen, seventy five. Your mind is not going to go to objection at this point. Nobody really thought like that. No, not then now. So they went ahead and had dinner with the two boys waiting for the girls to show up assuming they would. and. When there was still no word after they finish dinner Mary began calling around to all of their friends. No one had seen them though. So the family drove around looking for the girls and as time passed and they looked for their daughters in the Dr, the alarms really began to go off in their heads that something was wrong. So that's when they decided to call the police. But most runaways. The lions sisters, and they were nearly always found within twenty four hours. So when these girls were still missing overnight, the police began to realize that this was a case that was different. And the idea of follow play was becoming a real possibility at that point. The John and Mary told the police that this was just totally out of character for their girls both were honor roll students, and they both followed rules Catherine who went by Kate. Was the outgoing. How to Hit 6 Figures with a List of 600 with Holly MacCue

"Holly say what's up to fire nation and sure. So the interesting about yourself that most people don't know hey John Hey fire nation thank you so much for having me. So excited for this. So I'm really curious to know what your response is going to be to this game. We have men peasant, but the one thing that a lot of people don't know about me is I actually have a blue belt in taekwondo. I actually wish that I had no before because you know sometimes i. Go a little overboard on my teasing and I'm kind of picturing the time. War where I was kind of making fun of a little bit like you could have kicked. My Butt. Yeah just watch out John. Luckily, we are now half a world away from each other. So even a blue belt, I'm feeling a little safe, but that is something I did not know about you. But yes, fire nation Hollywood part of an incredible mastermind, the kate knife through about six months ago it was awesome to welcome her and some other amazing entrepreneurs to the lovely island of Puerto Rico and specifically Palmist Mar I got to learn A. Lot about what she has going on, and that's why I'm fired up fire nation for you to hear from. Holly today. We're GONNA talk about how to hit six figures with a list of six hundred and tell you right now holly somebody who does more with what she has almost anybody I know and I love that about her. So Holly, let's break this down a little bit. You've had an unconventional start in entrepreneurship. Breakdown for fire nation how did you first begin your Biz Show? The reality is I didn't actually set out to start my business in the beginning it just became the only way I could actually do I want it. So my business background is as a marketing and brand strategist I walked almost a decade for leading fortune five hundred companies in the fast moving consumer goods industry, which basically just means multimillion billion dollar global brands such as Gillette pantene shampoo bus perfume, and one of your favorites, Jon Benet, Jerry's ice cream. So, that was kind of my weld and I always in my most recent role, there is leading a two hundred million dollar brand portfolio whereas basically just tossed with how do I grow this brand in that market? How do I execute on amazing media campaigns get to know my consumers so that was that was the world I knew and on paper I was successful I got the absolute dream role that I could possibly have wanted ahead a view of the mountains in Switzerland bring out of his window. And then Ireland never forget this. Awful moment when I was having dinner with friends of a pizza unwind and I had this mind numbing thought that I guess I'll just be happy when I'm retired. Like Oh, I'm in my mid twenties that's quite a long way. Years. Away. That's like twice as long as you've been alive. Exactly. Exactly. So that was kind of like something for me to finally attention to and the reality was I've been really bent out for quite a period of time I'd got caught up in. Comparison Trabzon. Myself in fast-moving corporate space and I was massive perfectionist which did not help so I kind of went through that somewhat obligatory quarter life crisis that we all seem to experience today's in there. And that really ignited. I kind of Ray into Paseo development I'd never been exposed to anything to pass on development up until that moment when I realized I need a way to calm the flip down and so my first thing was I'm going to go to a meditation colas and then I became an P. Practitioner and then I certified as courage and it just kind of my obsession grew as I implemented all the things I was learning that will having literally life changing impact on me. So when I moved from London to Sydney a few. Years later I was like I want to do more of this because it's so amazing I'm going to try and get a job in eight Shaw Orlando Development and it's going to be amazing. I have these qualifications. I'm so passionate enthusiastic and bear in mind I just moved to the other side of the world with zero networks. No one knew my name and I'm going to recruitment agents saying, Hey, this is what I can do like yet. That's not going to happen because you'll see visas marketing and everyone gave crap that I. Wanted to ECHINACEA it was really soul destroying and I was just banging my head against a brick wall time and time and time again, and then I recognize that honestly the only way could explore this New Passion for coaching and personal. Development and see how I could support people in similar quarter live crises was to start my own business. So I the very unconventional step of actually negotiating a pot time senior marketing role in which five hundred company that gave me one precious day to just my Tories in the water. Of, what could be if I took this further over time? I was then to grow my business I negotiated two days a week on that with three days in my corporate role, and then I went on maternity leave to have my daughter and today I'm three days a week in my business around her. So it was a very a out of the way to do it, and as probably not the same story that a lot of other people have. But since that moment I've had people ask me how did he do that? And so that was what started everything off and today I. Am so grateful and so blessed I didn't just. You know accept that Acadia get nine to five just put his dreams draw. We'll come back to Atlanta but I, really followed that banning fi and my belly and I found a way to make it happen because today I have all the flexibility I could possibly want around my daughter while doing the work

Why it's famous for being one of the hospital in the Blue Zone. The seventh day adventists. Yeah. But when I got accepted there, one of the thoughts that I had is like Oh my God. What am I gonNA do without my burgers. And that was the mindset I had going into training because I didn't know any better and what actually got me to start looking outside was during my training. I kept kept coming across these cases and I remember one very, very vividly. Twelve year. Old Guy. Severe Severe Colitis. Came in with toxic, Mega Colin were his colon had dilated to about ten centimeters, which is huge, and we did around the steroids. We did some medications for him. He got better when home. Two weeks later, I was still on service. Worse off than before and Beato, our team started the discussion and we brought in all the specialists and basically the end of the discussion was well, he's failing medications. We just need to cut out his colon literally was like he failed medications. So the next option is we just cut out this twelve year olds a lot inflammation. Something's going on. Let's just cut the thing out. because. That is the next standard of care, right. I had a lot of these kinds of scenarios where kids would show up like I remember another guy who plays soccer. He scraped his knee niece bowl up and then thirty six hours later, he was dead. You know and they were just like well, sometimes staff does unlike I've scraped my knee, I haven't died like, what was it about his system that caused him to fall apart and it was this recurring question of like these things don't add up two plus two equal in this scenario and the institution, and they're really smart people alone Linda, don't get me wrong. But the pediatric conventional training was like no two plus two equals farm like it doesn't look this way. So as it is in most hospitals and worst Western approach. Places. Because that's what people are trained in. But you were asking a different question. You're like, okay. This doesn't make sense what's really going on. Exactly. Yeah, and that is what ultimately led me to start taking courses. So I, I went to one holistic kind of course, and it was a dinky little course, but I was like, oh. My God I, you know I have found my people, the light bulbs went off and you started connecting dots. And then from there I went and did a bunch of training with Institute of Functional Medicine and the trading with the University of Arizona, and in the midst of that, I started realizing the pieces that were affecting me so like. I did the elimination diet and started feeling better and then I found myself to have MTA. And I think my initial homocysteine was sixteen when I first tested it, I'm like Jesus. So I started injecting myself with B twelve and you know I was my own best Guinea pig. And in the midst of getting interested, what also happened is Loma Linda's in didn't have anyone that was getting interested in this stuff. They're like, Hey, you wanNA, start a holistic medicine clinic and. Like. Two years of my training and there I was like all of the sudden getting handed these patients you know and I was the expert even though I basically didn't know that much. But through the process of learning and I was really really privileged to be put in a place where you know fifty year olds, I was a pediatrician fifth year olds with Severe Lupus. Land in my doorstep helped me I'm like. I don't know anything about Lupus. So let me learn so I. I spent all this time. Just researching in learning. You know any person that I could find with any material they had on the Web I was reading books listening to the videos. And I was just consuming all of this information in the midst of that. Also learning from my patients,

Oregon says federal agents to pull back from Portland

"A standoff between the Trump administration and local officials could be nearing an end. Governor Kate Brown announced today that the federal government will pull back law enforcement who have clashed violently with demonstrators there since early July. We'll hear from Governor Brown in another part of the program. The Department of Homeland Security, meanwhile, is presenting the deal a little differently. Oregon Public Broadcasting's Dirk Vander Hart joins me now from Portland. Welcome. Hey, thanks. So this agreement could help bring down tensions that have been mounting for weeks in your city. How is the governor even framing the deal at this moment? Yeah, She is really presenting this as a big win at this point. So for weeks, Governor Brown and other state officials have repeatedly demanded that the Trump Administration pullback federal officers But as you said, were sent here in early July, and under the deal announced today, Brown says At least some of those officers will begin to be phased out starting tomorrow in their place. She's sending Oregon State troopers who will act as security for this courthouse, which has really been a focal point of the protests. In her statement today, Brown said, the federal government essentially said the government has conceded to her demands. Okay, well, acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf has also been talking about this deal. Would you say that he agrees with Brown's characterization of it? Pretty pretty clearly not a wolf and other federal officials today have presented this as a win for their side, So their side is that they've been calling for local officials to protect the federal courthouse from vandalism or are small fires that some demonstrators have sent. And they suggest that you know those demands have been met because state troopers will be coming in to give that protection. But Wolf is also really downplaying this notion that federal officers are actually leaving the city like Brown says. Here's what he said in a press conference today. Our entire law enforcement presence that is currently in Portland yesterday in pre in the previous week, will remain importantly. Until we are assured that the courthouse And other federal facilities will no longer be attacked nightly. Instead of fire. There is obviously a little discord there in these two versions, and we're still looking for more details until what's behind them. I think what's likely impossible is that D H s officers will remain nearby may be in the area but will not actively be at the courthouse every night like they are now. We should note, though, that federal authorities who are normally assigned to protect the courthouse will still be present. Okay, so if the presence of federal officers does diminish how likely is that going to calm down the protesters? You think Well, I think state officials are certainly hoping it's very likely. These federal officers have drawn so much outrage. In recent weeks. People have been very, very focused on getting them out of the city. And so you know the senses. This should help calm things. I don't know that we can assume he's going to solve everything here. I mean, the question will be how state troopers actually respond to demonstrators gift things flare up again. Well, I mean, the country has been pretty focused on Portland recently, mainly because the president sent these federal law enforcement officials there in early July. But protests have been going on for a lot longer than that, for you know where you are. You just bring us up to speed on how things in Portland even got to this point. Well, that's right. Yeah, Actually, we are about two months into nightly protests for racial justice related to the killing of George Floyd. I mean, those have come in waves. So in late May, shortly after Floyd was killed, thousands of people were in the streets every night. That began toe Wayne by late June, when maybe around 100 people a night. We're coming out and clashing with police. But as I said, the federal presence here has really, really energized things. Dads and moms and vets air coming out. Today's deal is going to change things. I think we can say that we're just not exactly sure how

Pricing Our Climate

"So do you think you can give us some of the big climate updates for the last year? Because twenty twenty has been a bit of a rough one and I think that a lot of people have been distracted from the long term. Twenty twenty has been talked about in the last few years by a lot of climate experts as are really important year. It's the point at which we would expect to start saying emissions decline. My name is Kate. McKenzie, I write a column for Bloomberg Grain I. Also advise organizations that are working towards a the Paris agreement goals in all kinds of capacities. So we sometimes call that bending the curve because you'll emissions have been increasing most years for obviously a many many decades now, and that's the first thing that needs to changes that annual growth rate needs to really end and start reversing at a fairly steep right because there's obviously a lot less air travel and certain other kinds of transit in particular and activity. Obviously, emissions are down this year. It's not really clear whether that's going to be permanent and it's not clear at what point you know that might rebound, and again, we don't want a lot of these particular changes to be permanent because they're so harmful. To cut those missions and otherwise. I we on the right. Track. There's a lot of encouraging signs, but there's also a lot of causes for concern, the overall emissions trajectory. If you kind of plotted out on todd, it's still not on a pathway that we should be on. There's also I. Guess Questions about the international process and the extent to which countries are meeting their commitments under the Paris Agreement to target a cut in their missions, and whether they're actually doing that quickly enough and keeping up with the schedule to be UN climate meeting that usually takes place at the end of the year is postponed this year until late next year but that process is still. Continuing in the background where countries are still being asked to look at their emissions plans look at their long term plans and talk about how they're actually planning to cut their emissions to get to nine zero by twenty fifty. All right. So it sounds like we still have a lot of work to do you know can't shouldn't. On a pandemic to get us to do the right thing for the environment definitely not. Even before we were grappling with a public health crisis, the United States was moving away from important climate initiatives at the end of twenty nineteen, the trump administration formally announced that it would withdraw the US from the Paris agreement abandoning nearly two hundred countries that have pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Many experts feel that this agreement is the world's last and best shot at keeping the globe from reaching the temperature of no return, a two degree Celsius increase from pre industrial levels. A big part of the administration's rationale for leaving the agreement was that it presented a threat to the US economy. This argument has struck many economists and climate scientists is misguided given the dire economic threats of climate change itself. So, there's two main ways to think about climate change in financial markets. If you think about things that you earn or things that can be bought and sold on financial markets, these can be affected in two main ways by climate change one is as the world moves away from what we call a carbon intensive economy companies and assets that have assumed that that warrant happen will value. The best example I suppose would be something like coal fired power

"But having someone else articulated I think was the most painful thing for me. Jack took K to his house to talk to his parents. She barely knew them but still she sat them down and told them what she had. Just begun to process the reality that she had been drugged and raped by an Italian policeman. I had to articulate everything that had happened with Jack sitting right next to me and it was an his mother and it was like. Suddenly this gruesome intimacy in their living room. And I was so embarrassed. His parents were stunned. They decided to call the local British police and an officer came over to the House to take Kate Statement. Everything around her started moving quickly. The police advocate to hand over any evidence of her travels including texts and facebook messages with Leonardo. Then they contacted couch surfing to remove Leonardo's profile and even though she was dreading it. Kate had to go to the hospital for a physical examination and I think the hardest part was the forensic test. Because I was there with Jack's Mom and I remember the nurse taking blood and fainted and when he woke up the doctor hadn't even looked his his back was to me and Jackson was holding my hand and the doctor kind of looked around was like oh she fainted and then like looked back in like was so clinical and cruel. He was the one who like. Put a speculative inside of me in. Link clips. My pubic hair was like this another man just like no sensitivity like none at knowing there to counsel me through the Trauma. There's no one they're saying And know what you've been through and I'm here I mean I had Jack's family but it was different. It was like it was awkward for them. It didn't know me it was awkward for Jack broke his heart. I think.

"Okay this is from Seraya. Hello Keeton Oliver and crew team member monitoring this account Smiley face. Thank you so much for the fun and inspiring an overwhelming at times. With how a universal it feels about sibling. Podcast I love listening and remembering stories from my childhood and life with my family. I'm the youngest of five five. I have three brothers one sister. I grew up in Grand Junction Colorado currently live in Denver. Go Bronx autonation My sister's friend Cole always claimed the Kate attended through at a high school high school. When Golden Kurt had property you on the monument? Factual factual FRUITA FRUITA fruit society. Grand Junction I go mountain biking their war. They had property on the monument. I don't know what the monument is. I don't know Sarah. I don't think this is factual at the actually doubted because he also claimed this during a time when he was self declared vampire. That's funny now. We know now. Okay so now we know well clearly clearly not factual. There's a twelve year age gap between my oldest simply sibling. Zanan xenon and me and the next oldest sibling is six years difference but we all are ridiculously he close. I feel very blessed in that regard. I was looking at instagram while waiting to go to our Chile for dinner. I'm currently in no sorrow. Costa Rica visiting my best friend. Any who thank you for sharing your light lights. If the poll applies to fans I love. How you are are relatable Oliver and Kate you feel so Colorado vibe that I feel proud anytime I hear you mentioned Colorado and proud you wrapped when you're on your bear grylls Dell's adventure? Thank you so this is from a girl named Jennifer a poem. I wrote about losing losing my brother. We were two and a half years apart. He's older than me. We were best friends. It's coming up to seventeen years now and I still hurt as much coaches. I did that day. Thank you for this. PODCAST has touched me in so many ways I just cannot explain hold on so dearly to each other love and protect each each other fiercely for those of us who cannot anymore. So here's the palm long but it's good poignant real. It's a question that's been asked of me by so many the last ten years while the night of New Year's eve fills my eyes with tears. The answer could seem simple for why. All all those eves I've cried but how do I put it simply to you. It's the night my brother died Christmas night. Two thousand to six six months since our mum passed. I lay in bed with an ache in my heart wondering how we would both last in the eyes of the world we were adults. It's eight eighteen and twenty one but the truth was we were like two little scared kids and lonely after losing our mum for me. My Pain was obvious I hurt. I spoke spoke. I cried but day was a guy and they're different. He kept his pain inside. His friends all tried to comfort him but he laugh and give them cheek joking joking his way from east ice to prove he wasn't week between Christmas and New Year's Eve is where we really came on stuck like a train wreck right in front of my eyes. I watched my brother self destruct. We were fighting over the smallest things over those six short days. I told so many I feared but this was it. They told me to trust God and pray five days after Christmas in that week I call the blues. I sat him down and begged him to stop but it was a battle. I knew I'd lose. He told me how much she loved me. And I knew deep down it was true. He said stop next year. I swear don't be scared consist it's me and you mean you against the world those words he said I'll never forget who would believe. In a few short days it would would be me with a heart full of regret. New Year's Day came around. I remember it. Oh so clear. Don't go away so stay with me so we can party and Z.. In the new year the words I said next haunt me still. I don't care if it's selfish going away. I'm sick of running around after you you dave so no. I'm not gonNA stay. He bribed me with smiles chocolate. And more but it was useless. Said made up my mind. I'm going to port so if you don't WanNa come then I'll just leave you behind. I can't go SIS. I've asked our friends here so I'll meet you at Steve's the next day he gave me a hug as tight as can be kissed my cheek and went on his way. I jumped in the car with my then Boyfriend Mitch to make our way up the coast when halfway there. What I I saw my mind to this day? I haven't told most like an awful dream while wide awake in a hospital bed. I lay tubes coming out of my nose and throat standing over over me. My brother Dave he was crying standing there holding my hand. Begging me not to die. You have to know how much I love you. He said as the tears poured out out of his is it was like vision but felt so real. I honestly believed it was true so I grabbed the phone and sent a text. I love you I I know you love me too. I'm sorry we've been fighting so much I know it's because we're both sad with me and you against the world I know two thousand. Three three can't be bad when I hit send I did it because I thought my premonition would come true and I needed to know if that were the case is our last words..

Now and have had some of the deepest conversations we've ever had reflecting on episodes of your podcast. Cats makes me. Oh I'm trying not to cry but it makes me feel good good because it's like everything like everything we have in. Life is our connections in our family. Oh ooh okay. This is just cake right. Dr Okay the best reason I have for us feeling safe to talk about these. Things is your honest sharing of your own experiences and the stories of your guests sounds silly writing this out because we don't know either of you personally and have no connection other than our shared eared sibling experiences. "Rough rough on made read it through so much and held onto each other through it all. It's not an option. I have any more and I finally accepted that after years of trying but I still so desperately crave the sister relationship. We had thirty years. Listening is therapeutic for me and I just wanted to say thank you. The podcast is something I didn't know I wanted but I know so desperately need lots of love. Wow well it's one of those things where you just sort of like. I'll be grateful. They now hold be grateful for your health or your hands will saying is is is the time that she had thirty years that she's had to accept and let go that it's different. Yeah and I think that it's something it again that we all struggle with acceptance that things change life changes. Sometimes he can't get it back. There's a lot of siblings out there and people who grow grow up. That probably like as Jeffrey said from the sibling affect the probably is best for them not to be have a relationship you know that might be too heavy heavy to play on the no way. I think it's important by the way that people even hear her story. You know 'cause because how many people are probably going through situations like this. Maybe there's some comfort there Whitney we love you. Let's see Hello Oliver. Kate Nice I got I got first billing again. Wins Wins Wins Wind. I am so so. Join your podcasts. Love you both professionally and your family from years of snippets into the wonder of your love for each other a mom the two boys and a motherless daughter since the age of fourteen my oldest is turning fourteen January and I've been struggling with knowing how to be a mother to him. I have nothing to use. An example for these teenage years being only child brings its own challenges to parenting siblings things so I really thank you for this podcast so interesting to hear about sibling relationships and I find it so comforting. That's interesting she's an only child but has multiple kids. Her mother passed away when she was fourteen. She has a daughter and doesn't really know what to do. I mean wonder what happened. I wonder if she she was ray who she was raised by for dad or I don't know but that's I have never thought of that. Actually I mean being an only child and then having multiple kids. It's sort of like. Oh Shit how do I deal with this guy and yeah and then on top of it. She has a fourteen year old girl and she's cheering. It's funny it goes back to so many so many people that I've talked to through the years sort of whether they be professionals nationals or a fourteen year old boy my spiritual you know guidance. Or what have you but I think in a moment like that. That's when your kids become your teachers and you have to like I. I mean I know that when I'm out of my comfort zone and something I look to the lesson I look to them to guide me. You know And I think that if you're tuned into that I mean clearly I mean as a mother you're not GonNa let at your kids get into the kind of trouble that you want. You're going to parent them but like understanding their dynamic is you're GONNA learn with them and it's just such a beautiful. What a beautiful healing life experience for for her? What about her fourteen year old boy? Fourteen year old boys boys and we were just talking about all you and I were just talking about middle school and so that would mean that. He's in eighth or ninth grade. She's kind of coming out of that. Really crazy I mean for me. Middle School was the heart is the hardest because kids are really trying to figure it out. It's kind of all over the place when they get into high school starts to kind of even out a little bit. You start to understand your your your friend group Sir your social story and your social circles but it's also when kids can really try to individual from their parents of if you have a challenging relationship with them they kind of start to push issue a little bit more again. I think if I was sitting with her right now I would say just always remind your kids that that's who they have like. We always talk about that like those are your siblings. When I'm long gone as she knows? How lucky are you that you always get to have your sibling? I never had that extreme. Had that experience so you know what a what a gift. She's given her dad's right fourteen year old boys teenage boys. It's it's a thing it's a real thing says from Nick. Hello excuse. My random subjects was my favorite pun. Idea a HA- anyways I wanted to thank you all I got. I bailing on this when Kate Oliver in co for doing the show. I can't express enough the gratitude. I have for the gift of honest sibling. Communication you've given my siblings and I am the oldest of four. We have two older siblings. Rulings we lost our died when I was eight. I can't take this stuff. These are some of the emails that have made us feel just grateful that we're able to reach and touch sh people to either talk about their relationships with their siblings or want to reach out and have a stronger connection. I like this one. This is my favor one okay because it says Oliver Parentheses and Kate Dante their email that that you can my name is Lindsay. And I find Oliver's position in your sibling relationship extremely relatable. Although I consider myself mildly successful on paper my successes are most definitely trumped by my younger sister. Katie oh well we're a little over six years apart in age and she has somehow managed in her shorter order lifespan to accomplish more than me to illustrate. I'll start with just a basic genetic superiority. I'm five ten in height the shortest of four siblings. I'm the oldest. All of these tall assholes like I did not expect this to me on the podcast. Haiti eighty the youngest is also one of the tallest coming in at a whopping six five. Oh I wanna I wanNA picture of these girls. She didn't even have to try. She just grew up and naturally surpassed me. I'd like to think your siblings start in the entertainment industry is a lot like Katie and I in the Athletic World I played every sport you can imagine growing up and was a standout athlete in high school. I went on to play d three volleyball and basketball and college at a small women's College in North Carolina. Awesome I thought what I had a damn good athletic career dot dot dot all caps wrong. Katie broke every record record possible in highschool volleyball shoes nationally recognized and even trained with the Olympic national team at one point. She was heavily recruited by every college in the country and was given a scholarship ship at Penn State University yes a Mecca of volleyball institutions see Katie trump's again. We also have several Several several hilarious siblings stories from growing up one involves a dog shock collar and another a swing set and tornado. We would love the chance to talk to you guys that it anyway. Thanks for the last. Keep up the good work. We love it best. Lindsey whatever am I going to say the last name and in Parentheses Kasese Katie. That is so great so she put Katie in Lindsay. That's so great dates. That's cool. I mean the thing is though see Lindsay gets to see the sense of humor. You know kind of built you build a different skill set. I got And I I will also say that it is also how you look at success. Well it I think it could be your competitive headed with your siblings no matter what. That's just the way it is. I think there's an unders. There's an undercurrent of competition with your siblings. It's not not a negative thing. It's just. There's an inherent competition. So this is from Whitney. This is actually a very Sweet one in a kind of sad but meaningful when he says. Hey guys I absolutely love your podcast. It's such a unique program and in a sea of overwhelming choices. It's it's so refreshing to hear from siblings. It means more to me than you know because I'm the youngest of three girls. My oldest sister moved away when I was still young and while we have a good relationship we hardly ever see each other. Due to three thousand mile distance. My other sister who is two years older than me has always been my best friend and the closest person to me in my life until five years ago when she had a complete breakdown and was diagnosed as bipolar and was paranoid schizophrenia. The person I once knew Oh is completely gone and his hands down the most just. Can't I know heart wrenching. Unbelievable pain I've ever experienced. She was here one day and the next she was convinced that we were all literally trying to murder her but she's still sounds like her. She looks like her. She smells like her eats like her and walks like her but her personality is just gone on and she is now very hostile to say the least. It's a strange feeling to have to mourn someone who's still alive and sitting right in front of you but that's what my family has had to do anyway. The point I'm making is I love hearing you to talk to other siblings about how you've all all gone through this life together and made it through.

"It's crack wall. She's crack out. It just makes me laugh every time I hear him say to my head but I love them and I am waiting for them to make an appearance because the clips we've seen. She's back in prison and and he's always said if she goes back out but I think they're so codependent on each other that I very interested in where they go. Let's let's say for the person that has never watched the show. Give them one example of how this will sort of pull you in God. There's been so many of him and I can't think of one off the top of my head. But Angela and Tony on love after lockup to me like she to get out of prison in there in the car and she in her smokers voice goes Tony. You go get a steak or do you WANNA blow job I. He's two minutes out of prison and he goes. Oh a steak sounds pretty good and I went. Oh my gosh. And their whole relationship was like that. She's just bless her heart. She has this like nanny. Manny mixie too and she smoked like eight packs of cigarettes a day. She seems really nice. Like at the core. She does seem like a really nice woman but a little bow talk and you know maybe some of the line would help and then they finally do it and she's walking around outside like in his shirt with no underwear giving him a motorcycle. I mean it's just trashy but it's fantastic at the same time. I wish I had a better example but I do love. I do listen to Angela. What do you think about the cameraman or or is this like the worst job to get television or do you think that they're having a great time? Well the worst job might be the cameramen that are now following lacey and Shane on on their corner. Ventures on. I would think this is probably pretty entertaining. If you're a camera person to be honest especially Tony in the prostitute. That he's he's dealing with an tracy and clint. I mean you never know where they're gonNA steal a car and end up. It's like you know ninety day. Our amazing race with them keeping up with them. So life life after lockup against the spinoff of love after lockup now one last question for you is what I need to know whether or not you've watched cheer on net flicks. I haven't yet. I don't know why because I've been watched stuff like that. That's like right up my alley but it's definitely on our list. I'm going to be interested to hear what you think I think and I was wondering and I want you to circle back to me on this one whether or not you live in fear in being coached by Monica or one of the Dallas junior coaches. Because I think Monica's GonNa give them a run for their money really. Yeah okay all right. I'm GonNa say it now. There is a girl in cheer that you need to recruit l. for the Dallas chillers she valiant excellent addition. I think it's a nice crossover and I'm Gonna I'm GonNa lay it out now and I'm excited to hear what you think about. Cheer her name's Gabby Butler and I think she's become somewhat of it surely Dean Celebrity Aberdeen on Instagram. She does things that I've never. I can't even believe the athleticism of this team and it's extraordinary because they're just a junior college. I had no idea idea that junior colleges even in Texas have such competitive programs. Well I will tell you. My daughter is eight and she within the last year has just gotten into like gymnastics and tumbling and we go to a place where they have these little cheer teams and these girls are five and six. Doing like standing back talks in stunts stunts and pyramid. I mean I was. I was a little a flabbergasted I didn't grow up in the world I I was a dancer. The world is definitely lately a different animal. Okay we'll tell everybody where they can cut your podcast where they can find you and find out. What's what you were working on a yes? "So then they started doing these Kate competition shows when they started doing the competition shows, they would all right? Who's the best cake decorators in America? They would look into magazines was into magazines all the time. I was always into magazines, and I gotta say I'm lucky because aware we are being in Hoboken. We're so close to New York City, and all the magazines like all that stuff was operating out of the are. So they would really gravitate towards the New York. Bakers would get featured a lot. Then when when I got the first call to be on like a cake decorating competition. I was like, of course, of my, you know, they were like you want to compete, and I again back then I had no idea that I was gonna do a TV show cake, boss. I just figure look it's more publicity. Right. You know, Bryan. Would wait two months to have an appointment. And I had you know, when is business, but then from going on the shows, I'll never forget it was my third show, and it was a wedding cake challenge. And I should have won the challenge. And again, I'm look I I call it the way it is. You know, I've been in. I don't know six of those different competitions. I should have won three. Right. I I one one, but I should have won three this one. I should I killed it. I had the most beautiful cake. I it was flawless it. Worked. We'll story short after the competition. I'm really aggravated. And then my kitchen, and you know, cleaning up in them. I, oh, you know, whom I'm home it in bone and the guy who felt me came over. And he said know 'cause you great today. I say he told me what are you talking about? You said I should have won by Keith no has the best. He was known. You can't goes you do you does your asthma. Roddick CEO's goes you pump of cameras so you need to all this job. They started thinking, you know, maybe this guy's not crazy and start thinking on my life is thinking of the characters was like, you know, family all the people work with the cakes. I make I started like laughing because I thought my life was kinda funny. It was almost like a sitcom, you know. So so I was like, okay, I'm gonna go to try to get show. And at the time food really didn't want to show. And TLC was looking for bakers. And somehow they came across footage of me in those challenges. And then I got a call one day. It was like two thousand eight I'm standing on. My Baker Email. I tell seasonal I'm like cool. I thought it was the band like what the cake, you know, and true story. And they say, they're like, you know, we we have what do you think of a baking Joe? Have a great idea. It just follow me, by my bakery. It's a hundred bakery. Have a big crazy tiny family say do these giant cakes? I said I didn't go to be great. They said all right. Take a camcorder running three bakery and send the Towle. I did the next day. They called me up till like we want you. Hey, you we wanted to see now is kind of the birth of cake boss, and then full, you know, after after went on the air in two thousand nine we did I don't know plus the three hundred episodes something like that. Aired in two hundred twenty five countries and territories all over the world dubbed in forty five languages, you know, in again today, I was just before I took this did the Bacchus. I was just saying my bakery in New York City square. And it's crazy. How many people came from all over the world. You know, we had people from England and Brazil Colombia in South Africa, and Australia, the Philippines, and it's just such an amazing feeling to know that what you do connects with so many people to so many different parts of their lives. And it makes you think that what you're doing mean something more by like, you know, what you're doing is just not like cake show. It means a lot to a lot of people in touches, my heart. Well, you've had such enormous success your cake. Shop is a tourist attraction..

"What is your, what is your advice for someone who's in a similar situation that you had as a child where I feel like your side of the story is not often told which is that of the father when a child's given up for adoption, we we so often focus on the woman that's given up the baby for adoption, but can you tell me a little bit about what that's like to be the father and then how you can cope with it? Why think as a, I mean, like my personal opinion is that like I really feel when it comes with it very children carrying children whenever that really, uh, you just keep shot because we don't know about it. Our bodies were meant to do that. The town, you know, pointless even have opinions about it or have any kind of like past it, you know, argument or debate about it, but I, but I would be, you know, I'd be lying if I said that it didn't affect the the men that are involved. Now you're talking back on the day of the sixties, their place for option and not really the, you know, they didn't even tell they got, they weren't even tell their parents. They flew away to fool for summer came back and then that was it. So like the guy that need really know even if they did know, they probably just turn a blind eye and you know, didn't even worry about it and said, good luck take care of it. So I think when it was my situation, you know, I just felt like I just felt an immediate attachment. Like, you know, I think a lot of guys would either ran off or like let you know. The woman do it on their own, but I felt very compelled and I just felt kinda just passed it to stay there and kind of help Kate, you know, and just be with each other. I mean, because I think it's also really unfair for him to be alone by themselves during that traumatic kind of experience, they need someone else, not not necessarily a mom or a grandma, but someone who's like this, your baby to like this is hard for the during the both the same. Like you know, the traumatic loss. I guess we're both experiencing the same thing. So I felt very compelled to be there. And of course, I don't say, I mean, we're out, I'm not going anywhere. That's my baby. You know that it's happening like I'm gonna. I'm gonna be there regardless. But I guess my my main vice really honestly is just like, you gotta figure out what's right for you, and and and that could be anything, what whatever that for the woman I'm be personally, because even if even if the woman wants to, you know, terminate her pregnant, your place at eight for option or a parent, whatever that really, honestly, in my opinion, has. Nothing to do with the guy. The guy had no say, so he's gonna have to just go along with whatever the woman decides to do because he's not the one that has to carry that child in, you know, those the birthing process at all that stuff. It's not. It's really not his rights as dating thing. I think the only job for a man to do just support the the mother of his child regardless whatever happens..
