"Heading this one little C. And, of course. Ah, Rich Lowry. You know, speaking of form and coming out looking bad. Other Democrats over the weekend. Nancy Pelosi included with you know, criticizing an ailing president essentially much shaming the victim. He deserved it. He deserved it. I mean sometimes and that sometimes they always overplay their cards. These Democrats, so I would imagine that the American public would look at that. And of course, it depends on who you support. But you look at people like Nancy Pelosi and Chris Murphy. Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut say the Putin is going to campaign for president. I mean, that's gotta be repulsed people as well. No Yeah, It was definitely repulsive. I don't know how much effect will have an election. That's definitely repulsive. I will say, you know, I Ah, I'm not a fan of hers. Obviously, the Rachel Maddow was was one of the lefties out there really, actually, quite a moving Statement of how of well wishes for the president. So there's been some of that a cz Well, and the Biden campaign was smart enough to tell their staff shut up on social media. But, you know Chris, Chris Burton? No. Until Chris Murphy the same thing. You're a very busy guy, which Larry? You know what? Every Monday morning with Bernie and I have the head of the National Review, NBC Meet the press writing columns. You know, talking about the president covering the bait? You're a very, very, very busy guy. Which Laurie, will there be time in your busy life tonight? Toe? Watch your Yankees take on the Tampa Bay Rays. There'll be time. You know Rudy Giuliani actually idea But I do have an event tonight. I'm usually not as busy as you betray me, as so. Ah, might Basam Furtive looking at my phone, but I'll be following. It should be should be a great serious. I really Rudy Rudy Giuliani, the big Yankee fan tries to Ah, convinced Bernie neither. He stopped watching the Yankees. I'm done with it. I checked the box scores, but I don't watch so I called. I called him out. And he actually called in on Friday. Rudy just called in unprovoked. He's tempted. He has he has he been watching, but his time, right? I think you think he goes back tonight, doesn't it? Now That's a lot of will power. It's a lot of wealth, power. Hey, listen, there's just no way I can't see that right. So I have a friend after they dumped Kate. Kate Miller. Kate, What's the name of the God Bless America. Kate Smith Smith. Yeah. Kate Smith. They can tell her I've ever friends like I've never watching again, and and he's kind of stayed true to it. There's no way I could do that real quick 30 seconds ago, I mentioned it, so I'm going to bring it up. Amy Cockney Barrett confirmation hearings starting Monday. Do they happen? Do they help the president? And does he get confirmed before the election? They happen. This's such a nonsense thing. With Democrats saying there has to be cancelled. The Judiciary Committee has been doing this hybrid hearings all year long, Some in person, some remote. They'll just do the same thing. There's no reason for them not to go ahead. The Democrats obviously have nothing on her. She's eminently qualified, and she'll be confirmed. I think the whole thing has had less political effect, and I would have thought that just the three dominant issues Are the economy, health care and Tobin and Supreme Court's this way down there, and there's just no way Republicans are going to miss this historic opportunity. So I'd be shocked if he's not, which is always are not a good job. A great job once again. NATIONAL REVIEW NBC Catching on Meet the press every now and then. "It feels so good reunited and it feels so good is back that we have you on the air the last two weekends, But it was per phone call just to kind of get an update on how you were doing with the whole covert thing. But you're back. We're actually back together. I can see you. I know it's weird to be here, but I'm so glad to see you and Emily and for you guys to know that I'm clear. I'm good to go. I'm here. I'm probably the safest person you can be around right now. Because because you know, I'm over it, and I'm gonna get my antibody test for covert this week. And so but, yeah, No, I'm good to go, the Franklin County Public Health Department said on August 29th. They said, You're ready to go. McHale. You're ready to go, so I'm good to go. It's been a you know, a few days since then, and Just man. You know, I tell you what I just want to say thank you to you and Emily into boots to Yeah, Yeah, he he held down the Ford and it's not easy to prep two hours by yourself. During the week, Mindy. Andi, I'm grateful that Emily and boots help John Air and you know, we have a great community and Facebook. You know, I was kind of laying low there too, because I was tired, and I just I just want to say thank you. For being such an awesome partner and making it all happened while I've been gone way missed you, But of course, that's what we do, and that's what you do for your partners. You know you have each other's back and amen. Every partner needs to have each other's back like this before. Once you're a friend of mine or a co worker. It's always It's the real deal for me, and I will always be there for you. And I know you would be there for me as well. But you had Cove it. I did. You had Cove it and it wasn't really that big of a deal. Wasn't it was mild. You know, I'm grateful that it was mild. Actually, I wrote a blogger last night. I haven't shared this with you where I share my list of what you need. If you get Cove it to make sure your case hopefully stays mild. There's a list of like 10 things I did every day on Michaela hunt dot com Because people want to know this. List They want to know. Okay, What are the signs one of the early signs and what's the list of the stuff you used to get over it, So it was mild. I'm fortunate. I know this is not the case. For many people, we have a fairly healthy family. I'm connected to the health care community here in central Ohio, said those things helped But oh, I always hate when I hear a but You're never. You're never going to believe what happened this week. Do you like teasing me with this before the show when we did a little Facebook live footage? Yeah. So you know, my kids are finally back at school because they were isolated in quarantined because I thought they were online learning until they were able to go fast. So Logan went back this week. Christian goes back next week. Logan, apparently Told his classmates that we still had Cove it that's lovely teacher to, um I'm not sure if you told the teacher I do know, he told the classmates and three classmates. Stayed home from school on Friday, because because Logan had said that in lied I mean, it's alive. We don't have it anymore. Does that work is the teacher or send you an e mail? Do they call you up? And obviously the teacher had to know. Right? Oh, the principle which we love our principal, Mrs Miller, Mrs Kate Miller. She We have a good relationship with Kate. She's actually our neighbors. Well, she She told Marcus and Carline that this was the situation and that she was going to pull Logan and have a conversation with him because kids in high school are getting suspended if they come to school and say That someone in their home has covet and that they're a tsk ool. I mean, like it's serious stuff of the high school level, So yeah, Logan got a nice conversation. From Mrs Miller to say that's just don't talk about it. You your family is well, they're healthy. Just don't talk about it. It's all people need to know and write. But I feel terribly for these three families who felt like they needed to keep their kids home because they think that we're still sick. Feel terribly about it. But that's that's the fear. That's the craziness like the school would not let us come back. Mindy, if we still had covert, they wouldn't have let the kids come back. We had to give them the letter from Franklin County. Public Health had to give them written proof. Correct. We're cleared. We're no longer contagious. We had Cove. It H A. D not H A V E correct. So the the fact that these parents, though, at the same time, wouldn't think that like you believe like your kids, your 10 year olds talking versus the fact that the school wouldn't allow it. That's a little strange to me as well because they're trusting a 10 year old the the words that come out of a 10 year olds. Mouth. You know what that looks like, Trust that, you know, to take the stand. Well, I am not going to send my kid I would think they would at least take it upon themselves to do a little digging and call the teacher called the school. Hey, is this the case instead of just making that Automatic opinion. I'm not sending my kid. Yeah, so so instead, But that's the fear that's associated with this. Well, I'm glad you're back. Fear or nor fear And I know we talked about last weekend. The stigma that is associate it and maybe you listening kind of been going to the same thing. Maybe you had Cove it and going back into the workplace or going back with family and friends. They treat you a little bit differently. We're glad you're back. I laugh because I know guys if you're there well, I'm glad to be back. So it's It's excellent to be here. I know we got a great show shaping up for today. I'm excited about it. You're dealing with the fear of Cove it I literally just came back from Kelly's Island. And I went there. We're gonna talk about this after the break, but just to set you up for what we're going to talk about. My kids are just about next month, he will turn 1918. I can't believe that's coming out of my mouth..

It's always going to follow the hottest water. Run run. Let's bring Beverly Back up, Beverly welcome backed on the edge. Thank you. Now, you Ah, We're relating your story. I asked you to call the show because I wanted you to expose this knocking over the whole thing again. We'll be in the archive tomorrow. Their own Dad can't be your husband. Was put into an elderly elder care facility and went in without having covert 19. I call it that because that's what you're calling, and I call it the China merger of ours and end it and contracted it there. And was put in there through this, governor Whitmer think about putting people in all folkshomes correct. Correct. OK, So, uh, where you with? This husband was confined to his room. By the way, he was never allowed to leave his room. Was he capable of walking around with the ambulatory? He had a walker before he had been admitted to well, bridge. He was able to walk from his room to the atrium there in ST Joseph. Mercy, Okay? When he had been admitted to well, bridge, which was supposed to be a 4.5 star facility. He would never see any of the amenity. He was confined to his room. What was that some kind of protocol? They just do that because I do that was critical. Because they were thinking maybe he had something somebody else could catch. What Or he might catch me in the exposed to something as well. And my husband had a bi pap, which meant here. He also had respiratory issues. Okay. When I say a bi pap. That means that the brain sometimes may not give the message for the body to breathe. So Abi Pack would force the air in which again another one of the many co morbidity that he had that are very governor. Good there at her podium with her medical advisor and lied I am. So what's the recourse on president didn't do it. What's the real name? Of course not. President Trump's been on top of this all along so and again. Other governors Air Justus Guilty. Gavin Newsom, Merrick Uomo. Ah, all of it. Well, so to get back to my story, Um, on that occasion when I had complete concerned about not being able to get through on the phone and saying that there were changes and my husband having viewed in through the window with his phone off the hook in his room. Okay. And no way to reach anyone to let them know. You know what? What I was seeing So they're not answering their phone. They're not taking proper care from by even go to his room and noticing the phone's off the hook. This is horn. No, no. So the thing of it is is by the next morning at 8 30 in the morning I live three miles away. I drive there. I call his room from my car. And an aide for the very first time picks up the phone. Okay? And I was shocked, but it was kind of like, okay. That's fine if I raise concerns, and there now watching him, I walked to his room, so I hung up the phone walk to his room. I have to wear a mask, even outside or whatever, because they were imposing all of those many regular Torrey type things on DH. I'm looking through the screen window. Ben, She leaves the room. But upon her leaving, I'm saying Please get me a supervisor. My Jim is looking at me like never you causing trouble or something because he was still somewhat mentally aware I would hope you would be causing trouble. Okay, so she leaves the room. She doesn't come back. I don't want to upset my gym because he got is he contracted this virus Yet? At this point, you still don't know whether you know. He doesn't know if he has it and that we haven't gotten to that point yet. Okay. At that point, she swept the room. I've gone to my car. I'm upset, but I don't want to upset Jim. I pull into a handicap space. Put the placard on the window on DH. I'm thinking, What do I do? Do I call Medicare? Do I call the health department? Well, I get a health department. Livingston, New York. I'm rattled. Okay, but I'm thinking, okay. How do I find a health department here? I'm not trying to be hurtful of the facility to speak without back. You're trying to get through to her husband. We get it. That's correct. That's correct. So at that point to employees come out, and they tell me that I had created a disturbance and that I was loitering, and I had to And I said, call the police. So they called the police two cars. Michigan State troopers come But I have my mouth's gone. I said I'm not mentally ill. I'm not carrying a gun. I'm unarmed. My loved one is here and they're not answering their phones. Okay? And the officer said I will take care of this. My grandmother just died in one of these facilities. So what did you do? So he excused me from from any other further delay and said. Go home. You know, we'll We'll take care of this. So there was nothing more that they you know, there was no further follow up from them and nothing from the facility. I went home called my family. My family. My son lives in California. Okay. 1000 Oaks, California daughter and Southern California, the one in 1000 Oaks. I mean, Arizona. The thing of it is my family was painfully aware. Okay? And I said, Look, I didn't peek in anyone's window other than your dad's window. And yes, I wanted someone to know there was a woman, a nurse, some or an aide sitting in the hallway with a mask on so that I could see across the hall, but she didn't come. She You know, she ignored my presence at the window. So we we? We've only got three minutes or so. Where did where did this go? When your husband contracted this. Did somebody call you and say her husband has the virus and what happened on for 18? My thought my husband was taken back to ST Joe's. He had shown extreme dehydration and arrhythmia. So this facility runs out. This facility wasn't set up to treat anybody for anything Really, And he's just been sort of pushed off there. Then he gets the disease. And they say, no, I'm gonna go back to Saint Joe's. Right upon his admission through the emergency broom. They do a rapid coded German. Yeah, he test positive. What did they offer? Then? In terms of treating this, what do they even say about it? Okay, They take him up to C C u to treat the rapid heart rate in the dehydration. He's there less than 24 hours in the social worker is calling me to tell me that they may be transferring him and I said, I don't know who you are, but it's totally unprofessional for you to contact me. And that was that. So then he is going to be removed from the CC. You And on the 22nd of April. My husband was given an opportunity. They were not going to provide hydroxy clerk Quinn. Andi think and any other. Did you ask about that? Did you ask him? That was not their protocol. Yes, They say it's not our protocol, right? Okay. He was going to be a candidate for convalescent plasma. Through the mail clinic and a nurse Kate Miller had contacted me at home and he would be a candidate for that..

"I've watched the video for the song twice now. I'm very excited about this new netflix series. I will definitely watch at least one and a half episodes before just getting tired of it. You have to watch the first seven and then you're not in love with the song but I'm in love with the potential that this performance could have like kind of I think it's kind of putting me in the same spot that Belarus's entry last year Like it put the end whereas this like all right. It's kind of a very basic pop song but with a good stage performance which I thought Belarus hat. I know I'm kind of in the minority on that one but I thought they earned their spot in the final last year. But yeah like I. I think there's a lot of potential particularly if they can pull like Kate Miller Heidecke type performance with the supergirl framework. And like if they're able to do something impressive for the audio for the live audience. I think is going to do really well if they're just going to rely on camera angles and on screen graphics. I think it's it's GonNa flop. I was joking with netflixing but this honestly this feels like a free form series like song. The song felt kind of junior to me out. Yeah Yeah like like it felt very junior and I'm just not sure just looking at the field we have so far. I'm it I agree with you. That the F. The live performances. Good it could do on the other hand. I think this is a lot of potential of flop. The thing is Greece's in the second semi-final. Oh yeah then. You'll see more of a black card for the first time you final. Nope the fact that this could be like up against like Samanta Tina and Iceland and Serbia Which will get you in a moment. I'll man we really got to take us for the second semi-final have set up alerts on my phone. For like the the resale market becomes. I need to be doing the dance in the arena. Yeah Oh good yeah because some of these might not make it to Saturday. Then what will you do so? I tried to get into Romania because I was like okay cool. It's one artist. It's five songs. How long could this take turns up very long Mary Long? Which great for them I. I'm glad that all of the songs are getting their full staging appeal on the other hand. I was tired. Yeah and I mean it's unusual for there to be your vision stuff on a Sunday anyway. So it's just kind of out of the normal rhythm and I mean there's not a lot of variation between the five songs Which makes sense because it's the same artist performing all five songs. The one that ended up winning of Iraq said was Alcohol you man and it. Kinda felt like she was willing that one to win based on some of the performances. I was only able to watch the first hour of the show. I had an appointment on Sunday and cherry red which seemed to be everybody's favorite like it had the most streams on spotify audience was chanting for it rocks and she is the opposite of number. One Fan of that song really seemed like. Please don't make me sing office. There was the first song of the night and like I was like. Oh this is the Billy Irish influence. And then there was the performance for that which I which icon online because I swapped over to Serbia by then and was like oh now I see the duly influence. Because she's not dancing. She's just standing there right. I need to sit down and listen to this one of more times because by the time that she got around to performing alcohol you I had already switched over to Serbia I'm still not sure Romania's on the right track yet. But we'll see how I will see how I feel about this in a few weeks once I've had some actual digestion time. I well first of all. It took me a while. I did not realize that alcohol you was upon. It took me until listening through the song for the third time. Yeah and like the last thirty seconds ago Oh I mean that's kind of one of my hangups or a second okay. English is my first language and I didn't pick up on the PUN. I'm curious to see how that's going to work in a like where English is not the first language for a lot of folks and it just like the lyrics including the phrase fake news. It's like Oh my brain just immediately. Shut Down Yeah. Yeah really shutdown. Yeah so if they're able to get a revamp done maybe lyrics pass or something in the next six days. Please try to fast track that but like I think like the actual singing on the track and like the Song Structure Works. I'm just not sure if the content is one hundred percent there but it's a lot to digest so and then Serbia also happened in like again like my brain was just hitting Eurovision Breaking Point. I actively watched it. I was like information was coming in but was not being processed because because like all of a sudden I was I was like. Oh we're at the recap. Yeah Apple. Didn't the show start with like an Italian disco number doing like various various Serbian songs of his past and there was like a fun Euro Disco Moment. Like yes this is. Why want like where where more people doing Italo disco songs? Well bed because it's not nineteen eighty-three don't need any three and we have better synthesizers. Now I wasn't able to watch the final but it was able to watch the semi-finals and there are a lot of GM's in this year's field which was Kinda Nice. 'cause usually Serbia kind of does what. Croatia does where can be very formal and very of a particular style and it seemed like they were being much more pop oriented. This time around weirdly. I was kind of looking for that out of their selection. And maybe I'm just like primed for like within the Balkans looking because they're very good at it yes and again like because again molodva was was one of their intervals. Make this beautiful song. Yeah but instead we got we got hurricane and hostile Visa.

"Arcade. Two two. So Dunkin first came to prominence on the voice of Holland where he was coached by delaying. A she was one half of the group that represented other Lund's in twenty fourteen made it I believed to the semi-finals of the voice, and yeah, it's just been working on his craft since then the song was internally selected and the selection committee was instantly blown away by the song so much. So that now the various cities in the Netherlands are already drawing up hosting plans for next year in the event that Dunkin is able to take the victory. So I think every country should have this shouldn't be completely taken by surprise. Oh, we won. Now. What do we do that that? That's not good. You shouldn't be issuing press releases about like, oh, well, the Hake is selected this park as the location of the Eurovision village. So. Cool it for like five seconds. I knew the Dutch. And I know the Dutch really love love your vision. That's great. I love it. But also, just like, let's let's just wait for like five five seconds. I mean, internal selection has worked very well for them. They put a lot of hype behind the song. And we're like we're so excited about our artists, and what we have cooked up, and then it came out like, okay? This is fine. This is fine. It just feels very normal in a year where everybody is just kind of throwing spaghetti at the wall and hope and that it sticks. I don't want to reward just being fine. Yeah. This is really feeling kind of like how I felt with only tear-drops where like everybody was instantly excited about that one. It's fine. But like just trying to get excited about it. Because it's like it's very likely that it's going to win. And if they win I'm not I'm not going to be upset about possibly planning trip to the Netherlands next year. I think that'd be great. But. Just like, I think part of it is the lyrics for this just feel so labor. Yes. And yet it'd be something that I would normally say, oh, could you just take one more pass at it? But I'm just worried that they're over. Yeah. The one line that does it for me that I just don't like is how many pennies in the slot. That when drives me because there is so much other thematic material that works that line just feels unnecessary for me at like instantly brings in the expression of up roken lock accepts many keys, which is just so infuriating. And it also kind of reminds me of Greg Brady in the Brady bunch movie where he's just like Jerry guitar a little portable amp. And he's just like, oh, hey, there groovy chick clowns never laughed before being stocks never grew. It's just like it's just so earnest and unaware of its surrounding that. Yeah. Okay. So like, a metaphor that I thought of as long as we're talking about tortured metaphors on this program the makeup of this year's year vision song contest is just kind of the munsters in that. It's a bunch of weird kooky things. And this is Maryland and Maryland is fine. Beautiful. Maryland is normal amongst, you know, a Frankenstein and a wolf man, and whatever Tari is in this family. And all of them are much more interesting than Maryland. Maryland does not get the good plots. I'm also just curious how is this going to be staged in? Yes. Is it in a way that is going to draw in people who aren't already on board hands of the song? Yeah. I think that's that's a sticking point where it's like, I'm not on board with if if I had a vote this certainly would not be getting twelve points. And I'm just like, okay. Cool. What are you gonna do? You're gonna just do dramatic lighting in like some water imagery on the screen school. We've never seen that before they also aren't going to put it in an arcade setting because that's just way too frantic for the song. No. You can't you can't stick some pinball machines into fix this. Okay. So the pitch an idea here, and it's real weird. But you know, what this century needs real weird. Okay. Okay. So Duncan is hooked to a crane just like just like second versus just start lifting. It I don't know where this goes from there just that he's. Just like in the air instead behind a piano because you're going to stick him behind a piano. Like, maybe the crane breaks midway through the just drops in like into a pile of Dunkin. Oh, I do. I do like that though. Okay. Just like what what if a claw machine? Yeah there. There we go. I thought that's what you meant. Thought that's what you meant. Going gonna pick him up, and he's just in the air for some reason that never quite resolves itself. But it's a metaphor a metaphor for what you ask. And that's when I disappeared poof smoke. Well, I mean, if a stray Lya staging has Kate Miller high Deke flying around the stage, they may already have the crane there. So. If the wiring is there, right? And they used it in the first semifinal might as well in the second. We have the deposit for the whole.

"Hello. And welcome to the euro episode in for forty six week of April eighth twenty nine hundred comb and join today, then Smith. Hey, mike. We are a pair of Americans trying to make sense of your vision song contest this week. We'll be talking about the last six songs from the first semi final. How's it going? Ben. It's going good. It is it's been kind of grow and rainy and gross all day. But it doesn't matter because we are finally to like the group of six I am possibly the most excited. Talk about in this in this whole crazy semifinal process. How about you? Yeah. Pretty much the same this group that we're gonna be talking about today. It's a fascinating set. It is a real good bunch. I have had this recording session in my planner marked with like exclamation points. I'm just very excited about these songs before we get to that doing a couple of follow ups from last week's episode. We mentioned the my heritage app where you could get your photo matched with your vision stars of the past and present and somebody did actually reach out to us to let us know that they got an eighty four percent match. That's basically a B. But that's pretty good. Yes. So Zachary to us on our Instagram and shared his photo of matching with the lead singer from lake Malawi. And I particularly enjoyed that. Because it makes it seem like the app also thinks that the name of the lead singer of the group was lake Malawi. And yes, I just kind of felt seen in that moment. And. Get that. And then our Twitter friend Siniora, Cody, let us know that Italy does have a version of kids. Bop, they call theirs. Filling the music, and yes, she passed a couple of videos our way of your vision covers that they've done. They did okay. At least twenty seventeen entry Occidental's karma. And this year's entry soli. They're kind of recreating the videos, which is choice. Definitely decision that was made. Although it's not a one to one match the question on my mind. Is there a child getting back tattoo in that video? There is not. And it's just like why why are we even here? So that's all I got from follow up. So why don't we talk about? What's happened in the last week? The big thing that happened over the weekend was your visiting concert the first of the many little promo events that are popping up all over Europe to promote these songs. Twenty eight of the forty one entries Chopin answer. Damn it was it was interesting. So I managed to around two PM here in the US. I was like, okay. Somebody has to be streaming this live a little bit searching. And yes, someone was got to watch a bunch of this live, and that was those fun. Yeah. Actually, kind of makes me wish that once I figured out that I probably was going to be making the trip to Tel Aviv like booking tickets for Amsterdam because that did really look like a fun party. And there's a little bit more fan engagement as well watching that livestream is really good just to get a sense for how the crowd was feeling about these acts going back going to the like. Official videos that were dropping later that day and then on Sunday couldn't quite get the same feeling as seeing like somebody's in the crowd, filming on their phone, particularly with the one angle of the livestream like it was pretty much coming from the audience rather than overhead shot or some. So like, yeah. This is totally like, you guys know it was like a very bootleg experience a loved it. Yeah. Because like watching the official videos like they're in the back of the room. There's one static camera. And it's it's fine. Like, it's better than nothing. But it was a little disappointing. Watching the next day. Be like, okay. I can't really get the same feeling as if I was like watching from this person who's standing basically a few feet from the front of the stage. And these performances are not the super elaborate performances that are going to be happening on the Eurovision stage. Yeah, it is your performer performing to backing track in front of like one screen. Yeah. And it's kind of a weird experience it way where it's like Kate Miller Heidecke from Australia was one of the acts. I was performing there. Wow. You traveled a third of the way around the world to sing a three minute song. And that's it. That's like that's really cool in terms of the dedication to the cause. But it seems like wow. That's that's a lot of work. Yeah. Yeah. It's fascinating. So like for me, it was great to see which of these songs survive sort of a relatively strip down process. Like who knows how to tailor their long to? Okay. We have three minutes on the stage. We have one screen. We not have any pyro. How do we do this? How do we adapt? This to this venue, some extra very good at that. And some were a little little bit little bit confused and also some of these acts it is the first live version of their songs that we've heard for the people who are selected through a national selection process or national final or are returning acts. Like, okay, we know what they sound like live, but for a handful of these people's like, oh, this is our first real exposure to them, and they could be up maker break moment. So I think we'll get into that a little bit. It definitely helped color for my opinions for this week's final set of discussions for semi final. One. We'll have a link to your vision in concert YouTube page in our show notes. You can check out those videos and see what you may have missed out on. Because it really did look like a good time. So there were rumors floating around for a couple of months now that Madonna had been approached to be one of the interval acts for the grand final and Israeli media started reporting that has been confirmed and that she will be singing two songs at the grand final this year. They haven't said which songs yet one of them will be a new song. That's a pretty big get your vision TV hasn't confirmed it, although the reports from Israel media were citing the issue. Like, okay. This is actually happening now. Yeah. Much more for real Z's than

"Yes. Is immediately followed by Elliott who. Yes. Yeah. Exactly. Sorry, elliot. All right. You do a very good job with the song. But also Atari. This is a rough set. Yeah. Like, what what what are your overall thoughts on these five on this pack of contestants? So this is such a weird set of five and like I had I had done sort of a mini ranking of just these five just to kind of catch where where my brain was on these five because they about them in the whole they're kind of just all over the place, and there it's very hard to nail down. I think of the five I like Slovenia best followed by Belgium, then Serbia Poland just sort of drew the short straw, just. 'cause I think I Meyer what is going for. But I think is a very hard sell compared to the rest of the field Australia. I really kinda wanna see what this retool performance looks like what the you know, what the sounds what this continues to sound like live like can Kate Miller had Icke deliver this level performance. Every time I think she can just like all of these feel like the wrong, performance choices. Just sync them. Yeah. Which is really difficult and like not outside the realm of possibility. Twelve other entries in the semi-final. So all five of these could fail. We just thinking through what we've discussed. I feel like we've mentioned things that for each of these acts that feel like they could be the wrong production choice and with the wrong production. It's not even like a high risk hybrid word type production choice. Like, it's gonna be like, oh, you were the red thing. Instead of the blue thing. Like, it's very simple choices like that. That shouldn't be that big of a deal could cause these to sink or swim. Yeah. That's sorry. All five of these acts that we. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, like Poland as I said, I think it's gonna come down to what their lives vocal is several weeks before the contest Serbia like we know what the live vocal sounds like. But there's nothing particularly. Citing too far in Poland. Like, how do they sound live? And also is it just going to be a static shot of them? Standing into line singing, the song Serbia shrug Slovenia. I think Slovenia is maybe the like in the safest position of the five. Yeah. Like like you were saying if they can really drawn that intimacy and thinking back to their national final like that audience was into that performance. If they can there there's something going on by they had going on there. I think they are the safest of these five Australia. There's just too much and not enough going on with that one. And yet, and with Belgium, it's not enough going on, and there should be much much more. So yeah, it would be easier. If I strongly disliked any of these songs, but I don't like all. That's what makes it the toughest is that like, I don't actively dislike any of these. This is the heartbreak grew up. The inclusion everyone who f-. Yeah. Yeah. And that's a tagline for this. Title for this episode. Yeah. Anyways, that's gonna do it for this episode of the year what thanks for listening. You're what podcast is hosted by Ben Smith. That's me and Mike McComb. That's me. "So this one had a little bit of a revamp since Serbia's national final back at the beginning of March. What you think of this? Oh, so one thing I picked up during the week that I found very interesting and just thinking about how we're thinking about the pre parties Nevena is actually skipping believe London to get married, which is a great excuse to not go. Yeah. But it's also really weird one because it's like, you would think that would be circled on her calendar. Conflict here when you check when you check your planner and like, I get it. You maybe weren't expecting to become your nations entrant in the middle of wedding planning. But life was her both up, but that has nothing to do with the song. Like, this one has grown on me the more. I listen to it. Especially now that they revamped it before I think I had said that I really like the way this builds and the way that it's through voice, and that's still very much true. I feel like there is a lot in this semi final that feels very strong and this one feels a little bit more towards the middle. But I still really love to see this one squeak through in like eighth or ninth. That makes a lot of sense. Yeah. Yeah. I think this one in the second semi-final, it would be way more of shoo-in, whereas this one they're just so many entries that are just hugging that middle and pretty much anything below third place is the bubble at this. Yeah. And what makes it so tricky being the bubble is I keep finding myself with a lot of the. Entries this year. Just being like, I don't know what to do with the song. Like, it's fine. It's not it's not earth shattering. Yeah. It's not earth shattering. It's not transcended. It's there's not a lot in the semi-final were listening to and be like, yes. This could potentially with like ten of these songs slowing through. Yeah. Going through. I would love for this to be one of them. Although one thing that gives me concern is I feel like what we see in the video on YouTube right now, which is their national final performance is about what we're going to get in the final staging wise. Yeah. I I don't see them doing too much. I could see them adding like a couple of instrumentalists behind her. Adding a couple of I could see them throw in like a couple of contemporary dancers behind her. I don't even know if they do that. Because I don't really think of contemporary dancers with Serbian entries. But I don't know that could be trying something new like this song feels like they're trying something new in a way where it's just like it doesn't have that like really hard finish at three minute. Mark the way that a lot of. Serbian entries have had in the past. So like it's kind of losing that I- density marker for the song. I bone objective the song goes through. But I don't think I'm going to be too troubled if it doesn't. Yeah. It's so middle of the road. Yeah. It's middle of the road. And I'm I mean that in a good way. But I think this is not the particular semi final to be middle of the road. There's such a large margin of error. I guess that. It's just it's just encompassing. So much of the field is like, yeah. This could really go anywhere. And it may just be something that it depends on what the weather's like that days. Like, oh, it's a rainy day it might do better than if it's a sunny day. You know, so yeah, it's there it's a good power ballot. And we're done we're done. We've said everything moving on a next we have Lavinia, which is Zala Kraus's and Gosper Santi with savvy. Win. This one came out. It was in a slew of things where we were just like. Wow. Your vision is a mood this year of those entries. This is one that I think is stuck with me the most like it feels very much like my thing. But I'm also very very cognizant right now that it is my thing in a way that I'm not sure it will be everyone's thing at Eurovision. Like, how do you feel about this one this one more than Serbia? I do not know what to do with the song. It does have a hooky nece about it where but it's kind of droning hooky nece. And I don't know if that's necessarily a good thing. It's definitely not one that like I'm singing along to or like doing chair dancing while I'm listening. Yeah. I agree with you. That's kind of drone. It's thrown in a very pop way. Like, it's not like dirge looking at how we ranked things on this one. This one was very high for me. And it was just under the bubble for you for of not qualifying. And I think that's about right? 'cause I don't know which way this is going to go this one it might come down to staging a little bit just because I found there. Stage performances Slovenian final to be very high school prom with a lot of drama attached to it. But not really not like in a dramatic way. Just being like teen angsty, and yeah that doesn't make for super compelling television. Especially to make your imprint in three minutes or less, right. But what's interesting for me? Is that? So again, we just got done talking about how Serbia we think that what we see is what we're gonna get. This is one where I do of want them to refine what they did. But the thing I liked about this long is the intimacy it feels between sort of the player and singer here where I want it to feel like the those are the only two people in the world like maybe some very simple lighting effects going on kinda him. Just kind of I keep thinking of the x acts in relation to this act, and the excess were very very good about having very simple, very minimal videos for their first two albums where I think this would fit in with that same style as you were talking about the intimacy. Aspect? I'm thinking of the end of Lithuania's entry last year where it's it was a singer. And her husband standing on the bridge if they can capture that mood and expand upon it. I I think that would work really really I want this to. Yes. The stage smaller than usual this year by just want it to feel just very intimate very close just these tomb. And I think that's something that clever camera work could accomplish. Because I think that was part of the issue with the Slovenian finalists like it was a lot of just like shot. Basically. Yeah. Yeah. And if they can have it the much more close up focused, and maybe focusing on the is like that might pull it together or like finish making the sale. Okay. And I could probably get more behind that. But yeah this. This one's definitely a mood. And I feel like I should like it a lot more than I do. And again like it's not that. I dislike it, I just haven't found it to be transcendent or particularly grabbing just yet. I feel like it'd be really negative this totally. It's just that middle of the field thing that middle of the field feel now that we are at the middle of the field. We're going to start with the second half of the first semi-final and going back to the beginning of the bet that puts us at Australia with Kate Miller high keys zero gravity. So

So this episode is brought to you today by business opportunity that me ill has the chance to change your life. If you choose to learn more about an old into the story that these ladies are shared with you about this report of being and I'm way to start off with a boat that. But we limit ourselves, and I'm going to speak to a little bit about my experience of being over because it's something that has always been very me. And it made for many of you on this episode reminds you of the will be forward that will be. Helen, hunt's, heaven's sakes. And I am someone who's always in my that. I will always with very kind person, I always liked helping others in the wind that would raise three them from small town where he will help MRs Jones Walker someone wheelchairs have ultimately the story invite banner open carry the streets. Just brought is hopeless abandon a broad smile. And I always liked bringing joy to people's lives because it may be and I later after university was social worker children and one of the things that I would do. In the wintertime is most of the families that I worked with berry or and didn't have the funds to really get anything for their families environment. Goto salvation army's arisen I would get them like senior, suits and jackets pants and boots. That I felt would be fitting. I got it pretty close to what they needed, and, you know, help them out during the seasons about eight have a warm winter things like that and being on arm and are used to have like a more urgent. I mean, it was absolutely ridiculous. And you know, he had only have so much. I remember that day that you get everybody in you'd be sharing food, and that there's something about getting together in community and just bringing joy and stories in the allow that all comes out, you know, helping another human being. Though, I feel that thing does something to us when you do it truly of your hearts, a you don't you don't give or the reasons of getting something back. You you give it because you just give and all these ladies that you're going to be hearing from today. They're true giver Caesar women that out the biggest hurt some fun. It's why love ones zero late. And I know Kate Miller has released or stories accused of share with you. And that's our listeners know, what's on your heart. Arlene. Hi, everybody. This is Kate in Carmel, California eight I'm forward is very dear to my heart. And I have a few stories I love to share when was with a member of my own family, which I've just never forgotten and we were shopping, and we we had pulled up in front of the store and on the curb there was a young woman, and it was very cold outside. And she was obviously initi- had a little satchel with her and she was a homeless person. And we looked at this this woman and was my daughter who was with me and the woman had no shoes and no socks. And I remember my daughter looked at me and she had these new tennis shoes on and she just quietly took her shoes off. And walked over and said him next to the woman and gave her her shoes. And I was as a mother I was very touched deeply, but the the look on the woman's face was was what that was all about. And I just thought what a beautiful kind act to have witnessed an end to have, you know, have happened. And I had I have worked in my career for many many years without restraints. I worked in law enforcement as a counselor juvenile counselor for years. And so I did a lot of public speaking with the police department of parenting courses and things like that. And one night. I was giving a talk, and there was a sweet little woman in the audience and afterwards, she came up to me. And she said my name is Kimmy, and I want to help she said I was so moved by these stories, and so what Kimmy decided was every three months. She gave me a large check. And this was not a wealthy woman. I I know after getting to know Kimmy, I went to her house, and she just had a very sweet house regular house regular car nothing. Fancy. Her flashy at all. She said I'd like to give you this check. And I would like you to these children that you meet that live on the streets or kids in the schools that don't have lunch whatever, you know, moves you and inspires you. Would you please pay for it? And I that happened that went on for years. I don't exactly remember the number of years, but Kimmy passed away a few years ago, and it went on until until Kimmy can you passed. But some of the things I got to do were absolutely incredible. Because of this woman's heart. I, you know, one Christmas, my son, and I loaded up my truck, and we bought Christmas presents for a whole community of people that we were told had signed up on a wishlist and that their wishlist hadn't been picked up by someone. And when I was going to get Christmas trees the mantle demand at the Christmas. Tree Lodhi said where are you going with all those presents are you Santa? I said well kinda and so he loaded the rest of the truck up with trees from his lot for. Three. And then we got to go and set up the trees with the families and bring these gifts, it was such an amazing amazing experience and the whole time this woman wouldn't even let me give her name. She would just say tell me the story is tummy. What was on the kids faces and I felt twice blessed? I not only got to do it. I got to share back with with. She what her pay it forward had accomplished every summer, she we took money, and we created scholarships for kids that wanted to go to camp one year, we sent a whole troupe of girl scouts camping who were from the city and had never even been in the forest before we did scholarships in schools, I was able to keep like a little kitchen in my office and kids would come and get soup and things like that. When it was cold. We bought shoes and backpacks and in the summer, I knew that a lot of the kids that I had seen you know, they would get maybe a free meal at school. But in summer, they would have no way to get around in. Oh money. So I would go and buy a thousand dollars with the subway cards and bus passes and the last day of school. I would give those out to kids. So that I would know they would eat during the summer and the same thing when I worked in law enforcement. So this woman's heart, blessed, I'm I mean, thousands of children and families and all she ever wanted was a story about how that took place. So I felt so blessed, and I learned so much from from Kimmy about being graciously humble and paying it forward was just the most beautiful thing. And and I also wanna add this one little story because I think it's really important to to it might be able you might think. Well, she had the means to do that with. But let me share with you when I was a single mom, my son, and I were eating in this little cafe one time, and it was like a big deal to order pie. That's what that's the budget. I was on at that time. And so we had this. Yummy lunch. And so we ordered these big pieces of pie, and we're all happy. When I went to pay the Bill the waitress said, oh that gentleman over there. Hey for your lunch, and I just was so blown away, and he was cute little very elderly, man. And I walked over. And hugging nicer, thank you so much that was the sweetest thing. And he said, how did you know? It was me. And I said, well, the waitress told me he said, you know, I have a daughter, and you remind me of her, and she has a little boy. And so I would I just, you know, it meant a lot to him, and he said, my heart's so happy his words were you made my heart so happy, and I gave him a hug, and I thought what a beautiful experience. So I think paying it forward is a gift we get to give and receive those are my stories got great cake. This is Belinda from New Orleans. I also am from a small community. And I remember my dad and the neighbors all growing. Different things in their garden, and we've truly eight from our garden. I was thirteen years old before I ever knew what Cam corn was about. They were trying to poison me. So they really, you know, they would give back to the community, and they didn't have very much. So I don't think you have to have very much to to be able to give to others. I was raised that when you're blessed, you bless others. And even when you're not if you get down in the dumps if you look around and try to see who you can help than your your blast by giving just a little bit. I mean one day I was going across the lake and we have a toll bridge to go from the north shore to the south shore into New Orleans and the guy in front of me paid my toll tag. And he he wasn't flirting with me. I never even saw him. He just out when I got to the towel. He told the lady just pay Hertel behind me. And I've got it was so NATO next week. I did it the guys behind me. You know? Hopefully, they needed it. I think when you bless others. It's teaching others. How to be in how to live? We live in such a rat race world, a big stop in the how can I help somebody else when you especially when you're at your lowest does she think what am I gonna do who's going to help me turn that around and try to help somebody else? The bible orders us to give ten percent of our first fruits to God. And I'm pretty sure God good needed. But he's trying to teach us how to be you know, how to give to others and how to live our lives. God good, meet our money. He's got all the money in the world that he needs. He can do anything. So I just think paying it forward teaches other people how to live and Winston Churchill said we make a living by what we get. But we make alive. What we give. I don't think that's a good thing to live Bonn. I love that quote this piper. Also from the New Orleans area, you know, paint it for doesn't always mean that you have to have money that you're always keeping my mind. It could be just bartering doing something for someone. That's that's always been my go-to haven't been extremely wealthy financially so far in my life. But I've always had something together. Thank we all always have something to give when I was a young girl of always wanted to be philanthropists. And I used to you know, when people would ask me when I was little so what he kinda be when you grow up like a philanthropist. The funniest expressions you bubble. Look at me like. And how are you going to do that? So I've still to this. You know, more recent days, I really had no idea how I just knew that I could be a philanthropist lo and behold, I actually found something there was an opportunity that came to me too similar of a pay it forward kind of circumstance. It was quite interesting average just kind of putting this silent prayer out there. And every time it kept feeling a little worried about my finances. I just had this little boy Saint it's going to be okay. You know, something good. It's is happening. And I just knew it. I felt it. Well, that came to me one day it walked through my door. And actually, it was this opportunity actually have a business platform. I can be. There is a business platform out there that is unlike any other, and it just opened my eyes that with the purchase one nominal healthy..

"And yeah, it's going to be hard to to catch them are real quick quickly on wrestling for a second. I need to know this guy watch the state tournament this year, the high school Oregon state high school six a state tournament helter than I ever have before. I did not know in the Russell Bax the first periods one minute one to two has it always been that way. You know? I can't actually remember that. I know at one point it was, but I thought it went away. And when I say, it was maybe I'm saying that the wrong way. I don't think like bikes when I when you and I were in high school that it was, but I think that did come in at one point it was after and I thought it went away. But maybe it never did. But yeah. One one two two which is very fast one minute is very I mean, they start wrestling boom that periods over. Yeah. I wasn't Miller's coach coaching millionnaire looked up. There's they. Just started wrestling, and there's twenty seconds left, and I turn to harm. I hate twenty seconds short time. I even some wrong on oh, wait wrestle Bax wants to. So I'm watching the tournament right next to Kate. Miller's dead and. The way they did the tournament. I thought then I actually figured out how is wrong because remember I called you. And I said, hey, he plays. So Kate Miller goes four and one day one not a pigtailed match. He's on the medal stand. And it took me all the next day to figure out. No he needed to come back and win in the blood round Saturday morning, right? All the way to the next night. I was right. If they place eighth they went to go to a, but that's right. But do you remember what I told you on the phone? I said that I could Joel I got your math. I'm with you completely. But that's for eight. I hear that. Yeah. And I also I do think you're off by one I believe he had one I think it was three and one, but the relevance being at least the way I think that your mind was working because this is the way it used to be is long as you showed up on the last day you had a metal. It was all about the medal fights. That's what they've changed this year. You can show up on the morning of on the second day, and you still got to fight for it. Even the NCW tournament. She's coming up in a number of weeks. If you're there on the final day, you got some hardware that sucks to make weight. And then you, you know, you make you got in the morning, you make way you warm up. You do the whole bit. I thought he wrestled great. I really did. I thought he wrestled very solid. He works artists. A tough way classic beat some tough guys. Got beaten some tough matches. I thought a lot about EJ Ethan Goff. He goes out and has a one hundred twenty one hundred thirteen Pounder for Oregon for Westland. High school of great kid known him since he was, you know, a Theros age has a great district tournament and as flat and gets knocked out. He wants to Lowe's loses too. And he's he's he's just devastated. I told him I said Ethan, the one thing about wrestling is man, the you never know when you're going to have a bad day. And if it's at the state tournament your hit. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's it's so true. I mean, and he was hurting. I mean, he really wanted it which is not fun for him. But looking to his futures a great side. Good kid. Yeah. But there there was a lot that went on there. I mean, you know, it's kind of a little bit of a tough spot. If you look at Ricky bell, if you look at how upset he was that he lost the championship match. If you look at what a remarkable accomplishment was that he was in the championship match. And don't forget, whether there was some whatever the back story is. I mean, the bottom line is he was fifth in districts a year ago in one year, he goes from fifth and districts to Fargo all American to the state finals, if you look at that gap in improvement..

"And so I'm not perfect here, folks. But I do I've created a semblance of having a plan having a structure as Tom said, folks, I've got I've got one more quick one here, Tom and their folks if you want to go to January twenty two thousand nineteen to my Facebook page, which is agent Kate Miller. This was posted less than twenty one hours ago. There's over fifty comments already. And read through them their powerful. We can't get through nearly enough of them today. But Brandenburg Brandenburg, Dan, Ryan, he says ego ego wants more it wants to be seen as more wants to have more at wants to grow. It wants to be unique wants to be special once that power wants to control its own fate and destiny ego gets bored with the monotony of the status quo satisfied is simply not sufficient for more than a few minutes. Ego requires another dopamine boos from something new novel and shiny. I just thought that was that's a book right there, Tom. And I thought if I didn't have he go. What would I have no idea? I do have ego. I try to try to modify it, I try to be aware of my own self in that sense. I don't exist without ego. And so just putting that on the table and being aware of that and catering to that could that help my overall peace in my behaviors expectations. All these things. We talked about high slot. That was a big one. Yeah. I don't know what to add to that. I mean, that's that strong. Just reminded me this, quote, I think it had to do with humility. And they said humility is not thinking less of yourself. It's thinking less of yourself. Right. So so it's not that we think that's right that we're we focused on the right things the priorities. Ego is all about self. It's like, you know, me me me. It's you know, it's it's it's the seagulls in finding nemo mine mine my. We want all these things. And so, but but humility your are broken, which is what I would think that and his ultimate quality. It's it's not that we think less of ourselves. It's our priority. Our motives the things that we wanna accomplish change. And we gotta get on top of it. We we can own our ego. We can let our ego control us or we can go in. They that's where the of anchoring this show with Tom. Thank you, folks. Thank you for your incredible. As always comments, please keep them coming. It's a gift to this show.
