Anybody who watched that video in a with their own eyes in a real way and saw what happened on that day would disagree with what was just stated. The president has been very clear January 6th was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War. And we should be focused on making sure that never happens again. The worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War. So it has to be worse than 9 11, right? Oh, that's right. They've said that too. Has to be worse than Pearl Harbor, right? Oh yeah, they've said that too. I had a listener from Shenandoah, Pennsylvania today say that it was worse than the Holocaust. 11 million people slaughtered not as bad as January 6th. In reversal, Biden weighs detaining migrant familiesEds
"The Biden administration is considering a major reversal on immigration. Officials familiar with the plan say the president is considering detaining migrant families who cross into the U.S. illegally. That comes as the administration gets set to end COVID-19 restrictions at the southern border and an expected influx of migrants. It would be a big flip, while both the Obama and Trump administrations detained families, the Biden administration stopped holding them in late 2021, officials say nothing's been decided and Biden's spokeswoman karine Jean Pierre will not say up to tension is an option. I'm not going to go in on rumors that are out there. The Biden administration has its sights set on Google to that end, Google is hiring teams of former U.S. Department of Justice lawyers in the midst of what is shaping up to be a major regulatory fight. Will oremus is covering for The Washington Post and he spoke with northwest news radio's Tom, it really should be no surprise, I guess, that Google is taking this action, looking for lawyers who may have a little inside intelligence as it tries to battle these antitrust lawsuits. That's right. The first of the NHS lawsuits against Google was filed by the DoJ under president Trump in 2020. That one accuses Google of monopolizing the online search business, the second one was more recently filed under Biden and that one targets its lucrative online advertising business, Google is spending big to defend itself against these lawsuits. How are these lawyers available for Google? And what does it say about the Biden administration's antitrust efforts? These agencies have long felt that they are outgunned when it comes to taking on some of the world's largest and richest corporations in court. The Department of Justice, their antitrust division is now led by Jonathan Cantor. He's one of the new trust busters that Biden has brought into the administration along with Lena Khan at the Federal Trade Commission. They came in with a mandate to take on the big tech firms to crack down on their habit of snapping up smaller competitors to solidify their dominance and to tackle their potential monopolies in various sectors of the online economy. They have staffed up. They have gotten some legislation passed that will increase their funding. So they are hiring more lawyers, but even so they're finding that defendants like Google are able to outspend them. Okay. You have to believe other major tech players are keeping a close eye on how this is going to play out. They are. And Google is not the only case that is ongoing. So there is a Federal Trade Commission suit accusing Facebook of monopolizing the personal social networking industry. There was a recent case where the FTC filed to block Facebook parent company meta from acquiring a VR startup. They said that this is meta trying to get a chokehold early on on an emerging industry in VR and the metaverse, even though it's not a big industry yet. They lost that attempt to block that merger. So that one went through, they are still fighting an attempt by Microsoft to acquire the gaming company Activision. This is a much larger merger, $67 billion acquisition that tries to make Microsoft a top player in the gaming industry in addition to the other thing that does. And that one is still in the court. So if we just take a couple of days, then probably the effect is going to be small, but if it drags on for a few days or a week or more, then we're going to see disruptions. First of all, Steve Peter doocy, not to be confused with Steve doocy, his dad, Peter doocy, The White House correspondent for Fox News, called her out yesterday, reminding her as the Democrats rail against any of us who dare question the outcome of the November 2020 election. That you said karine Jean Pierre, the Trump stole the 2016 election. You said that Brian Kemp stole the election in Georgia. Now, the tell the giveaway, the reveal on karine Jean Pierre's part is how she she knows it's coming. And she tries to sort of charmingly deflect by saying, oh, I knew you were going to ask me this, Peter. I knew the day would come. When you, Peter doocy, would point out how me and other Democrats claim the Trump stole the election in 2016 while condemning anybody who claims that the election was stolen in 2020. Listen to this remarkable exchange yesterday in The White House press briefing room. Just in trying to understand the new attention on the maga Republicans, you tweeted. Oh, I knew this was coming. Stole an election. I was waiting, Peter, when you were going to ask me that question. Well, here we go. You tweeted Trump's a little election. You tweeted Brian Kemp stole an election if denying election results is extreme now. So let's be really clear that that comparison that you made is just ridiculous. I have been, I have been, well, you're asking me, you're asking me a question. Let me answer it. Ridiculous. I was talking specifically at that time of what was happening with voting rights and what was in danger of voting rights. That's what I was speaking to at the time. Yeah, nice try. You said that the election was stolen in 2016, so why can't we say the election is stolen in 2020? Because you're a hypocrite. My screener Tracy told me about a caller that she had on hold once who wanted to challenge me when I said that Democrats lined up to claim that the 2016 election was stolen. He told Tracy that he was going to tell me how no Democrat had ever said that. And then I, while he was on hold, I played the Montage of all the Democrats who literally shed that. Every one of them, Jerry Nadler, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary, Jimmy Carter. They all said the 2016 election was illegitimate. Now, no one can defend claiming that none of us are allowed to question the outcome of the 2020 election while they all did it in 2016. You can't defend that even if you tried. But we can't say Biden stole the election in 2020. What a funny game that is to play, huh? You can't defend it even if you tried. She sure she sure couldn't. All she could do is all it's ridiculous. It's apples and apples and oranges. It's literally the same thing. It's Democrats claiming that the 2016 is election 2016 election was tainted and we Republicans claiming the 2020 election was tainted. And as Carrie Lake put it so brilliantly the other day when she was called out by a reporter, we get to claim anything we want. We can say an election is tainted if we want to. We can believe it. All we want to. You get to believe what you believe. This is America, but they're trying to take every last freedom away from us. There are a bunch of fascist tyrants who don't want to allow Americans to experience freedom. Look at the hypocrisy on the border. This cracks me up. I have found that acting in haste leads to bad decisions and actions. That's one of the best quotes that I've heard of best statements that I've heard. David, I mean, you write on point, accountability is one of the measures in which people should be held to in order to be successful. If you can not hold yourself accountable or people do not hold you accountable, what do we have? We have no country. We have no morals. We have no leadership. We have no guidance. Without accountability and integrity, I believe that the world falls apart that you want to follow up with something else, David. No, no. You need to have integrity. You know, I don't know how many times I have to say this. I don't know how many times we have to observe this. Who is committing all the crime around here and all over the United States? Are these little bad teenage boys? White black Spanish, all of them. Most of them need to be round up and throw right in the jail and stay there for a long time. That's what part of Dallas if you don't mind. Where do you live at that? These were the door and all of them grow where they knocking people in the head every day. Pleasant grove. You know, I grew up before. And I know it's rough out there in Dallas, but I think you have an incredible point. These young folks, if you look at any statistical data, most people that are committed murders to commit thefts and crimes are young people. And they need them. These kids are like they should. Did I say they broke in my house? Several times. They get caught. I call the police. I never heard anything else about it. But they came out and took sag a print and stuff like that. And one guy told me when the police terms that when they care to my all the time, but if you're let them out in a way, but I don't think they ought to be let out. 'cause all they doing is going around committing crime everywhere all over Dallas, doing everything you have won a name, they need to be told in not all of them. But some of these are little boys I'd be throwing in there and just throw away the key. 'cause they know good. Gloria, thank you so much for the call. And I agree with you a 1000%. Ow. And there are many before Trump was elected, I think I had 15 conservative gaze on my Facebook page. I now have almost 1500. And I think that Trump has done a great service to the Republican Party because as you say, no more just laying down and take stuff. We've got to fight and fight as hard as we can. Ladies and gentlemen, they said that we are the reason the conservatives Republicans are the reason primary reason why these lunatics go out and they shoot up places. They are completely foolish and liars. If you ever noticed the people who say negative things about you are normally projecting, either insecurities, either the things that they're trying to do behind the scenes, we know that the Democrats do that all the time. The racist people cry racism towards you. The people who are fascists try to claim create organizations to say that they're fighting fascism. They're lying. They fight fascism with fascism. They fight racism with racism. And the rhetoric that they claim that we spew, they are the ones spewing it. If you don't believe me, I have proof, rode the clip. You can not be civil with a political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about. What I like to debate this gentleman. And I said, no, I said if we were in high school, I'd take you behind the gym and beat the hell out of him. You had to be ready to take a punch. And you gotta be ready to throw a punch. Does you any good running away from Donald Trump? I think you need to go back and punch him in the face. How dare you say the things he does. Of course I want to punch him in the face. Right. Yes. Yes. I have thought an awful lot about blowing up The White House. When was the last time an actor assassinated a president? But Michelle says that, you know, when they go low, we go up. No. They go low, we kick. Music to my ears. All of these line crazy lunatic Democrats are out here spewing hate all day long, and then they want to claim that it's our fault. I mean, I could find even more clips with Don Lehman saying that white people are the enemy of the world. I mean, pretty much the enemy of the United States of America, and I'm paraphrasing, not exactly what he said, but he alluded to the fact that white people were the enemy. You could go down a list of people activists supporting Black Lives Matter, all kind of other organizations, that they spew hatred on a day to today basis. White people are not welcome. White people, you know, all these different things that you hear them say. And then they claim that we are the ones perpetuating hate. I want to bring in a collar tie from scent Antonio, welcome to the officer Tatum show on air. Brandon Tatum. It's great to talk to you, man. Congratulations on your show. Yes, sir. Congratulations on your show. I listened to Larry for years, spoke to him dozens of times. I'm going to try to keep in touch with you. I think it's fantastic that your voice is here. I started following you whenever you started your voice, you started coming on Fox News in different things and you're exactly what we need in this fight that we're up against the Liberal Party is evil. These are not people that are misled or misguided with their intentions or whatever. These are evil. This is evil. And what I wanted to get your opinion on is that I'm hearing a lot about after the buffalo shooting, why aren't people speaking up when they hear individuals saying something that to them could be viewed as terroristic or whatever the case is because they talk about how it could have been stopped if people would have been alerted to the fact and what this guy was talking about and saying. And I got to tell you where the intentions may be good with that. I think that that is a domino once that tipped over and people are calling the cops on their friends and relatives and turning them in for this and that I just think that that is the point of no return for our country. If you took everything in a vacuum, for example, when I'm watching at night millions of people, thousands per day crossing over our southern border, that's no more than a hundred miles away from me and my two children. If you took everything that I said in a moment of frustration and put that in the vacuum, you could probably call the cops on me too. But I just think that I wanted to get your opinion on that Brandon. How do you feel about people turning their friends in and things like that? In an effort to prevent these kind of shootings? Well, I think you had an incredible take. I think it is a slippery slope, you know, because I can see baby mama calling in on baby daddy if they get into a dispute with the children. And reporting him. And I think that's why people have such an issue with the red flag laws and different things like that. I think it's a slippery slope being listen. You can't report every single person that say something that you don't like. But then there's a difference between somebody saying something you don't like being ignorant in a person threatening to murder multiple people and as a parent you know when you look at his eyes that he's crazy. "It doesn't send a message and popular people respect him. You're talking about bring him bringing along also the religious community, the black religious community, and so that was an important move when he did that. Because now it's kind of amazing that enforce your ears, no democratic candidate could have been anti gay marriage. Yeah, yeah, now you can't. Now it would be out of step, you know, very, very out of step. And to be fair to vice President Biden, he was the one that first, I don't know if you remember in 2012, he came out first and supported marriage equality and then Obama did. That's pretty unique for them to have split like that. And Biden is an older Irish Catholic man and he was there. So in 2012, when Barack Obama announced that his position changed or evolved, he cited conversations with Friends, family, coworkers, staff, did you feel like a personal victory? I would assume so, 'cause when I left, like I said, I was out. There was no secret. And when I left The White House to go work in the administration, you do this Oval Office kind of goodbye with the president. You take a picture with the president and your family. And I brought my girlfriend at the time. And he knew I was going to go to move to Chicago to work on the reelection. So he was very respective of it. Very very respective, very supportive. Of our relationships. Everyone who was there, that had a same sex partner. And I think he was always ready. I don't think he was, I don't think he wasn't. I think it's the being out publicly was the step that he took. But he was always in support of us. You're saying with a political calculation. I mean, that's, you know, that's politics, right? That's kind of the name of the game. But, you know, I think he was hoping to move, help move the country with where he was. You know, it's like you kind of have to get the country there or people feeling where get them to educate them and get them to that point. And then he came out publicly. That's fascinating. Now, what the girlfriend you mentioned? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't want to move past that because you wrote that you got to work at The White House around 7 a.m.. You didn't leave before 9 p.m. and that if your boss would email you at 2 a.m. you expect a response ASAP. Yeah. That just sounds horrible to me. It's tough. I was tough, surprised you were able to maintain a relationship. Not very well. That's why she's an ex-girlfriend. That's why she's an ex her friend. For many reasons, but that's one of the particular. Yeah, it's hard you work 12 hour days or more, 6, 7 days a week, and there is a task at hand. I talk about my partner in interviews. And it's out there. But I don't lead with that. It's part of my multiple identities. I have multiple identities. And so it's a very interesting kind of way to be in the space. And it's actually kind of funny when people are like, I didn't know you were gay. And I'm like, how do you not know I'm gay? I've been out for a long time. They're like, wow. And so it's funny, but I am aware of it. I am conscious of it. I want to respect all of, like I said, all of the communities that I represent. And were you to bring it up every episode, I would say like, oh my God, she brings it up every day. It was like, what's wrong? What if you don't bring up ever once and even like she didn't even bring it up? Yeah, it's like, yeah, and it's a way I don't know how majority of people feel about it. But I want to lead with my experience and kind of my smarts, right? There's a reason I'm at this table and everything else just compliments me, you know? That's a great point. Yeah. You know, we've mentioned The White House couple of times. Can you just explain for everybody what your role was? Yeah, so that was one of the most amazing opportunities. I will never forget working in The White House for the first black president, you know? I miss those days. Yeah, you know, working in The White House, you felt the responsibility. You felt the weight of the country on your shoulders, the weight of the world. And you wanted to be good at your job and not screw it up because you knew at least for me, I knew that I was a everything that I was doing. I was representing president Barack Obama. If I went out and talked to people in different states or picked up the phone, I was representing Barack Obama. That experience was really wonderful. I worked in The White House office of political affairs. I was the northeast political director and basically what that meant is I managed a politics and about, I think, 11 to 12 states. In the northeast, I had to have my finger on the pulse of what was going on and what people were saying. How people were feeling about the presidency. And if he did specific political events, I have traveled with him and the vice president, sometimes the First Lady, and also any time we have to talk to a governor or a mayor or a political figure in the state, I was the one managing that relationship. And if he were to go into New York or Massachusetts or Pennsylvania, which was one of the states, I was in the room, I was with him. I was doing briefings, and I was briefing him, writing memos. It was just amazing job, amazing, amazing. I was there the first two years, which was I would argue the most hectic years, it was just an amazing experience. So similar to my question about talking about being gay on TV. How open or not were you working in The White House? Oh wow, I was pretty open by then, so we're talking about 2009. Yeah, I was pretty open. I was not. I was out. I even did, it gets better, but The White House gets better video. I was one of the people who produced it. And I was also told my story on tape on video..

LGBTQ&A
"karine jean pierre" Discussed on LGBTQ&A
"Okay, so this is something that I still haven't fully processed. As of today, right now, careen Jean Pierre is the new White House press secretary. That means that a black lesbian is now a face and voice of the United States government. It's completely wild to think about, especially considering the fact that when karine was working as a staff member the Obama White House, she couldn't even legally marry her partner. So on the podcast today, I want to celebrate this bit of good news. Something that we in the community are desperately in need of and to celebrate I wanted to share this conversation that I had with Kareem when her memoir came out that memoir is called moving forward and the message of the book is that all of us. No matter what you might think of as a typical background or story for a politician, all of us have a place in politics. If karine Jean Pierre, a queer woman of color who immigrated to the U.S. as a kid could make it in politics, she says, then so can you. Who knows? You might even just be the next White House press secretary. When we spoke Kareem was appearing on NBC and MSNBC as a political analyst, so you'll hear us talk about that, as well as what she learned working for a rather wide array of politicians, including John Edwards, Anthony Weiner, and of course president Barack Obama. So from the advocate magazine in partnership with Glaad, I'm Jeffrey masters and this is LGBTQ and a. Thank you for having me. Of course. I'm excited. Thank you. Yay. Let's jump in. All right, write that your story is not the typical political story. You're an immigrant, you're a woman, you're a one of color you're gay. And that is not what we typically see in politics. Yeah. And yet, I think it's easy to assume that that's changing with high profile examples like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Elon Omar. And yet those are very much outliers, right? That's not the norm. It isn't the norm. And like you were saying, I walk in so many different communities, if you will, like I present so many different communities. And that was one of the parts of writing this book. I wanted to, I think people get really afraid when they hear politics and getting into politics or getting involved. And so that's one part of it. And I think the other part of it is that people always ask me, even young people, they ask me all the time, I teach at Columbia University, so I have young people taking my class yearly and they.
