"After your time at Chelsea is in the big jump. Well, the first year was easy. I was there two years with the first year was easy because the mandate was clear. We had to take the team one step further and I came into the club at the time of Karen Carney and Katie Chapman. The three of us came in together. And that was the difference between previous years of getting to that last hurdle. What was it already a wonderful group and Vic? Acres was, you know, his legendary for so many things, but what he did so well was manage people. He wasn't, you know, it wasn't. He wasn't about tactics. I was obsessed with that. I was obsessed with the coaching, he let me get on with the coach in. But the way he managed players, and that was back in the day before people got paid properly. Everybody got paid with envelopes somewhere along the lines of this. And more because that's where the game was at. And he sacrificed a lot to get the, you know, the girls, what he could. So I learned that piece from it. The second part was patience, because I didn't have any the second year. And I learned the hard way about the being in the system what you you have a very, very different role to play. And I learned how to develop the individual. Because when you're a manager, it's so always macro, it's always like you're a CEO. I always say that you're constantly doing so many different jobs when you're an assistant. You can do the quality work with individuals. So I learned I learned how to do that and then realized I didn't want to be an assistant anymore. So they were my big learnings. All right, final one from Ashley wool and sent us this panel is 50% arsenal. Makes sense to finish on an arsenal one. There's an also fun. It's great to see our recent run of form, however in your honest opinion. How long do you think it will be before arsenal are once again? Challenging for a Premier League title. Is that what he's going.

I don't wanna wind about my family. I got a couple. I got one email over the weekend. I saw somebody say oh well your kid was in an accident. Big deal stop. Stop taking everybody down with that. And i i understand that reaction. So i'm trying to keep some of the challenges that i'm facing on a personal level to a minimum. I'm sorry to burden you with any of that. My kid was in a terrible accident and his legs are shattered arm shattered. He's got seven broken ribs and faces now a rough road ahead. So i've been going back and forth between south carolina in dallas trying to be with france with family with friends and i'm looking at the restrictions that my family faces from what i know is a well-meaning hospital but it doesn't make a lot of sense and when i see hundreds of people partying on martha's vineyard when they're telling us about masks when they're telling us about hospital rules when they're telling us about locking down schools again when they're telling us that florida is overrun with children. Did you know that. Did you know that. Florida is overrun right now with kids in the hospital. That's with the headline show. That's what they said on cnn again. Cnn.

I mean, he told us what it was. But do we know anything more about this? They've except it looks like he'll be back next season. Well, he hopes to be back. Uh and He's working. Obviously, to that end. He released this video, and he he said that it's uh, this. Oh, I think we have the audio. You want to hear it? Sure. Yeah, This was his, uh, his twitter feed. Let's listen, and then we'll talk about it. There's a lot of things. I just kind of piled up where my body just fell apart and what they're calling. It was chronic immune Response syndrome, where I just couldn't quite Cover and my immune system was reacting to everything that I did any kind of stress anything that I would do throughout the day. Just there's always kind of stress response. So Took some time. And that was the frustrating part was not really knowing when or how we're going to get over the hump, but thankfully got a great support team of people that helped me through it, and Learned a lot about just the stress. I put on my body over the years and I appreciate all the support and a lot of people were worried and definitely felt bad to a certain degree that people were that word and I thought it was really serious. But The back of my mind you would get through. It was just a matter of time. That wasn't too vocal about the things that I went through this year and Definitely want to thank the fans. I mean, my teammates, the organization Rocky stand, Jeremy. Everybody and the fans, especially, I think talked about the things that you appreciate and things that you maybe take for granted. But I think number One thing is about so many people across the hockey world in fans and people that have shown their support and I think that's the biggest thing is you realize there's more life than hockey. But I'm excited to get back to the United Center in play and just go out there and have fun, and I think my best is going to come through and excited to get back in front of fans. Jonathan Tabs, considering all the rumors that were going around, That's pretty good news. Well, he's sort of alluded to that during the video, he said. Now I know people were worried about me. But he did say he talked to Mark Lazarus of the athletic later. And in that interview, he suggested that he's a covid long hauler that even though It's not clear that he was ever officially told he had Covid 19. He believes he had it a things he had all the symptoms and he thinks that That compounded this this chronic immune stress response syndrome than and thus may have really exacerbated his his problems. Which he said he would have some good days and then some bad days. Well, if he's at full strength next season, that will be a big factor for the Hawks. Well, it would be huge and especially, you have to figure at this point. He's 33. But a year of not playing, it's a year without that. That spread the physical pounding that he's taken over the course of his career that he'll he'll be fresher. Assuming he's got his health back, and nobody works harder to be in condition. We know that about Jonathan Taves. Yep. He's the captain. And, uh, As a headline I saw. Oh, I like the headlines in the sports section is Johnny. Be better. And, uh oh, Here's the best one, Captain. Come back. That's the way it is. This has been the top six at six with Bob Sarah's on W G and radio..

"Today we're gonna have a series of conversations on picking the recent incident involving england footballer media pundit karen carney and the recently promoted premier league club leeds united. I a bit of context. The story starts out as just another premier league match day with football experts lined up to give their opinions ahead of the game between leeds united and west point job which was being aired on amazon prime one of those analysts was karen conti an england international with one hundred forty four caps to a nine among the many points of view offered about the game and the teams was this one woman running. They're doing everyone in credit to them. Whiny concern would be. Will they blow up at the end of the season with the last couple of season. Actually think they got promoted because of covid in terms of the respite. I don't know whether they would live up if they didn't have that right. You're the voice you can hear on that clip is jimmy floyd hasselbaink former leads and holland. Starting spot on in support of that analysis listening to this was the lead social media team. Who took umbrage. It can kearney's analysis to the extent that clip the video to the club's official twitter feed up in the directors box leeds united zona andrea rhetoric. Zarni saw this and retweet retweeted the clip a couple of times which remain on his feed. Today what happened. Next was depressing. The obvious karen carney's twitter account was told by hundreds of anonymous leads fans hurling some really vile misogynistic abuse to the extent. Connie later deleted twitter account cutting her venue valuable communication platform to talk to her sixty seven thousand followers. Jake humphrey the lead football anchor of bt. Sport spoke for many when he made these comments. Head of the next leads game where carney was again employed as potted the expert panel before we do go to kick off though which is coming your way after the break just a brief word of support for are always hard working. Well researched excellent colleague. Karen carney whether it's your mind whether it's rio whether it's karen whether it's any pundit on any sports network they are literally paid to have an opinion and that's cool and you don't have to agree with their opinion and you don't have to like their opinion but the whole point about living in a civil society is that we all have opinions. We might disagree and it creates debate. An cool was not colo. Is the horrible misogynistic sexist vile abuse that when cairns way in the hours after comments about leisure knighted football club that is not an example of a tolerant society and if we saw anything in twenty twenty surely we saw the fact that sending people abuse on social media isn't victimless. It hurts people and karen's decided to leave twitter. So pops if twenty twenty years before it was all about intolerance and division twenty twenty one and the years that follow needs to be about acceptance and compassion. So that's where we are now. A group of anonymous dick of troll get another high profile and accomplishable and for having the temerity your voice an opinion about sport the overriding concern is obviously about the impact of this storm. Karen conti both careerwise. Personally we reached out to her management team and they politely declined to come on. The podcast did lead united. The impact of the story will became the fell. However by many women across sport are looking to build careers in media in particular football so this is important and the stakes are high with this in mind over to take the opportunity to ask some different types of questions about what just happened about the role of club. Channels incentives that play across will media landscape and the issues raised about how clubs choose to manage their communications with their many audiences up. We talked to laura western a member of the women's sports trust and a former director of sport. Entertainment agency iris. I asked laura what she felt when she first saw the karen connie story. I mean when i saw that eight stores is ready. Obviously very disappointed. Because i spent so much time in the last twelve months working with these female athletes trying to help them understand how that woman to get their voices out there really supporting them and helping them lift the head of the power pat ray and voice their opinion on school and then when something happens obviously we worry about is the nagging to retreat. Feel like you know. It's just it's just not worth it and start. That can't happen is we. Need more diverse voices in sports. We need to hear from different perspectives. It's fall to narrow at the moment. And what we hear about schools and that's across all different channels and twitches really powerful because he when it comes to kind of the media influences it has so just that was kind of initial thing is that just won't be discouraged from putting that putting themselves out lab because at that got some amazing things to be to say already wanted to feel comfortable to be able to do that without fading. They're gonna get that kind of level of horrific abuse. I was looking at twitter. And then i knew that karen. Carney had deleted her account. And then when you go on you click on that link. It says karen carney does not exist. Which are they is one of the most depressing and powerful sort of things. It's just a blank page with a twitter account which has been deleted. But that felt very hard and i just saw. That just sums everything up here. Yeah she'd be capturing than hundred four times and it's like how could we do we treat someone is essentially a national treasure in that way and just feel like. That's okay things not okay. I mean the thing i would say is the what will i did find different about this. I worked on the lordship the f. aws l. Would the women's team for three years About ten years ago and obviously it was very different than environment in it was just. It was kind of all abused. Was there was nothing else. But now what i found really positive about it was the with the actual Became more of a debate and there was lots of men and women coming forward putting the story forward. This is not okay. And i really felt that was the only positive i could take out of. It is while this has already seen that before. I've not seen so many people come out. And and the female athlete in that way female pundits that that was that was awesome By jay humphries and piece is just so important and and that is almost one of the key. Fact is what's going to change. All of this is is starting the people to start challenging it more Challenging mall and understand is appropriate one of when you look talk to social media advisors but so club channel people who run club channels. It's it's a lot big blokes and in their head the audience is blokes and so i'm just wonder you know the the is interesting that movement that you've suggested there from you know the launch of the league to today and we've got these sort of pioneering women you know karen being one of them. Alex scott being another example where they are taking normal be amounts of abuse. And the hope you know of. Most people is that they are normalizing women on talking about football. But there you know that's a heck of a sacrifice that they're going to have to take personally if it's not their job to take that initial flat and it's going to be disproportionately high for them. As as time goes on if the assumption is that is going to be less of it. But i'm i'm.

"When Faulconer liberty review on this Sunday evening full disclosure we pre recorded this mid day before the weekend Karen Carney is the marketing and public information manager for Will Rogers world airport now becoming a major player across the country before we went to break she was talking about how we have records setting every year at Will Rogers and the thing is Karen of you know we can all just gotten so comfortable with our wonderful small I hate to say small because I don't really mean that are wonderful convenient for Ryan you to full airport and now will that we're becoming a major player it we've got to grow don't wait we do have to grow you know as much as it were and and we want to try to keep as much of that ease of use as possible but the bottom line is we need to get bigger and so our terminal expansion is under way and and one of the major portions of that expansion is adding four new airline gates which means we're adding more concourse so the the concourse is going to get a bit longer because you'll have more options of of where to go and we're also re locating the security checkpoint during one just one really large check point so those are going to be some things that that that are going to change a little bit of how we navigate the terminal building as travelers but I think overall we're we're truly going to appreciate that that growth and and of course what comes with that is you know hopefully more air service and and in others there's a couple other airlines out there not too many laughter that you know that we want to attract here so we can keep pursuing those when you say the security is going to move like will it move more toward the center of the line I mean we're we're we're we're we're not calling in a centralized just because the plans of the building itself when this you know right now we're only building for more gates but ultimately you know we we planned for a nine gates and so at that point at the check point will be pretty much in the center of the building however when we opened with these four K. that won't be quite in the center and you know we'll probably see some changes and just where airlines ticket counters and gates are located to kind of accommodate that and you know we may have to be looking at some things some additional things like car ten things to to assess because it there will be it will be longer I mean when you compare it to some of the other airports like in Dallas or Houston Chicago it's definitely still on a much smaller scale but it'll be a different it'll be different for us Oklahomans well let me ask about Southwest Airlines was losing the direct flight to Dallas a big ouch or was it we saw come in and that's you know great well it had a boat you know it I mean it was it was a big out you know Dallas at southwest has had nonstop service to Dallas really since they began I I think al getting into too much history but you know because of the Wright amendment called the city became a really key element for southwest so there there was a lot of his history and on and that that went with that market however you know we we one of my one of my jobs is is talking with airlines and looking at routes and and airlines have certainly changed over the years and and they a a a market has to perform and one of the things that southwest we've been watching it actually for a couple years the Dallas market the majority over nearly eighty five percent of the people that use that fly eight work connecting to somewhere else they weren't stopping in Dallas who southwest and the load factors you know sometimes you go well the plane was full but sometimes that correlates with fares and there's a lot of elements to it so for southwest who's very constrained at Dallas love right now they knew that they can accommodate the majority that eighty five percent they can accommodate with either more or better connections through some other cities and and while we hated to lose it we were thrilled to death that we got nonstop service to Nashville and we got an additional flight to Phoenix so I think it was it was hard to lose it but you know we still benefit in the long run yeah the the connection through Phoenix I'm sure and and course national such big place now yeah I didn't realize that was part of your job what do you have what do you have to do to low interest airlines to come to will Rogers world airport well you know that airlines are business I think sometimes we forget that in that so one of the things that we have to do is when we does service to or from Oklahoma City or to entice an airline we need to make a business case basically to the airline we need to show them that yes you've got enough people in this market that are going to go to and from a you know say Miami for example that's the new that that's new service that we're getting in December eighth American Airlines will be starting a nonstop to Miami are you an answer something to me and I'm getting is a group here want to Miami yeah I know we're very excited about it and and will be promoting and here's a little bit more in the next month but it it it's but you have to prove to them that yes in and out you know I I I I joke a lot about you know I I go to the airlines and say I want nonstop service to des Moines Iowa because that's where my family as well you know if you only have twenty passengers per day each way an airline can't make a business case for that so that's really the biggest the thing that you have to show the airlines and part of that story in part of that case is what's happening in your community and so we always encourage businesses if if you if you're spending you know seventy five people a day to a certain city we need to know that I don't think anybody sending seventy five a day but you know we list hers business Paris pairings and those business cases maybe DC maybe that's what how we got to do you see three big exactly we spent a lot you know DC was always a good business case but the airport itself was limited in constrained within the number of flights that could have been there but you know we we continually said we've got so many good cases here we've got where the the you know we have a lot of business before the federal government out of Oklahoma City an Oklahoma so yeah it is it ultimately landed those two flights to DC a for us well I think you lead an exciting life and thank you for all the good work because we are getting these direct flights and we do appreciate it we do appreciate you very much let's go back to where we started we want to make sure that everyone knows to go to the airport earlier and what is the best way to get there where to have telling well so we've got road construction that's going to slow you down and we just you know we always emphasized anyway to allow enough time but please please please allow it whether you're flying out or you're coming to work because your boss you don't wanna be late either but we're suggesting that everybody if they can use airport road because it's easy you will get off on meridian in terminal drive it'll be a straight shot each way fifty fourth if you use fifty fourth street you're going to experience the tours but you know we we we've got a lot of a lot of projects going on at the airport that can any other kind of a headache right now but when they're all done and they're going to be awesome Karen Carney thank you so much for your time but I appreciate it and best of luck for I appreciate.

"News and it's all news that will affect when you go to Will Rogers world airport Karen Carney the marketing and public information manager will Rogers world airport joins me today to talk to you about some old and some news so I'm gonna take the old first Karen because I think we can talk about it pretty quickly and that wouldn't be the real ID developments yes real ideas ban on everybody's mind as anybody that that has plans to travel so I guess the first big hurdle that everyone was a little bit nervous about was was the state of Oklahoma going to get an extension through the year to be able to continue to user ID and they did indeed get an extension the state did get extended your your opponent current Oklahoma driver's license is valid through the end of the year we know a lot of people had travel plans for the holidays and they were very concerned but beginning in the spring you and you will have to if you intend to fly either get a new Oklahoma driver's license that is real ID compliant or you know some other form of ID such as a passport we're being told by the state that that they're rollout to the Oklahoma public will be April thirtieth that will be the first time you'll be able to get in Oklahoma real ID ID okay that's good news for all of us that we're concerned about traveling during the holidays and now that that is a let's talk about what's exciting and going on it will Rogers world airport it's going well we didn't think travel is stressful enough so we wanted to add more things and in short is called road construction Reid said it's called road construction I think that's probably the biggest project we will and we can talk about it a little bit later but we did that's going to be our biggest project right now as many people that have driven out to the airport recently and driven down terminal drive they know it's a little bit of a rough rough go the road is definitely need in need of repair and there really is no good time to do a major road construction because we basically have to reconstruct the road so we have started that project it's anticipated to last about eight months and how it impacts visitors to the airport now not just not just people that are traveling or picking up people but also people that work in the area is that we are narrowing lanes to one lane in each direction starting at the fifty fourth street bridge so basically if you come off airport road the next to kind of big bridge that's where the construction is is actually beginning the other thing that that will impact travelers as there will be no left turns on Q. fifty fourth street from meridian or off of fifty fourth street from I'm I'm sorry on off of fifty fourth street on to meridian Avenue so this particular closure will most fully not a hundred percent but mostly impact employees that work not only at the airport but in the area and we will have a detour that will kind of goes cargo road Amelia Earhart so we're really recommending to people that they use airport road as their way into and out of the airport proper and for people that are renting cars is economics affects them well the the the construction is actually just a little bit south of that so you can rent a car customers will be able to get in and out without any problem I think where they might see some of the challenges you know the the rental car buses to and from the terminal building you know we anticipate this the following traffic a little bit so people kinda have to factor that into their time when getting to the airport and so instead of three minutes which is generally what the rental car bus takes to get to and from the terminal building it could take five to seven minutes which which a lot of people that's a big deal if if you're running a little behind for your flight five to seven minutes now I heard that we need to live in there yes I've heard though that we really need to be there may be an extra thirty minutes well what we're kind of telling people you know fifteen to twenty minutes and I and of course it is just like the TSA security checkpoint it really depends on the time of day in our early morning when everybody's coming to work it's probably going to be a good fifteen to twenty minutes and same way you know late afternoon it's going to be an actor fifteen to twenty minutes so you know it is it's hard to factor that in and you don't want to be surprised when you get to the airport and you're stuck in one single lane traffic and getting delayed that just add as more and more stress and make you crazy yeah if you're gonna guess we in the number of employees in that area that are using these roads what man is a like up to ten thousand five thousand what well definitely several thousands I me I mean just on the on the Will Rogers just our little terminal area proper and you know with a A. R. Oklahoma and the people that work in the terminal you know we've we've got close to you know fifteen hundred people there and then of course on our property is Mike Maroney aeronautical center which has about six thousand employees and then we start moving kind and just a little bit north and west and we have a hobby lobby and there's a lot of other businesses in that area not obviously not all of them are using fifty forestry but a good number of them use fifty fourth street as their access heading south to more norm and that kind of those areas and actually a lot of people coming from eastbound going going last to get to you Yukon a Mustang so I mean you're right unless you happen to travel that area yeah you have no idea and you and I were talking about that when they close the roads or narrowed it to one lane that they were doing that on a Sunday night and what did the construction people say that was so interesting well we no we always try to get at the airport people we always try to explain that were a little bit different you know that the normal times we don't work from eight to five so when it contractor was talking about setting up late Sunday afternoon and Sunday night or like that is one of the busiest times of the week and he just got a look at us like because everybody's coming back or are flying home from their weekend in their weekend travels and business a lot of business travelers are heading out on Sunday so it's a very busy time for us and you know we just don't have the traditional times of the day accommodate construction and that is so true plus for safety concerns I mean I'm sure construction people generally think everybody's a home on Sunday night and all that and it truly is a whole different world out there at the airport it is so I think it's wonderful that you've gotten way out ahead of this and eight months do you realize that it's like having a child yes yes we do in fact I think I my boss he at one point walked in he said I'm going on vacation from now through April and at home like no you're not but yeah it's a long project and and again we we can't we we cannot close the roadway down so we are obviously have to keep it operational and you know when it starts as it gets closer to the terminal we add two more lane so we go from two to four in one direction and so that's that's a lot more work and as I mentioned this roadway hasn't you know I think the last kind of re paving resurfacing project was about ten years ago and even that was and a major rebuild after froze like this is going to be and and you know it's it's one of those good news bad news things that obviously the road and it needs repair but the reason it's kind of falling into disrepair is because of the increased traffic that we have you know we've we've had record a little injured traffic over the years exactly right there.

"And I remember playing a longtime and you knew what the Italians and the Brazilians they would always try slam on your toes, like whenever they check back. They purposely put their foot on your toes smashing in and it's common and men's soccer. Right. But it's becoming more common in women's soccer. That's just an example, the physicality of something that they're always doing. So this is a team that was looking for any type of advantage possible. Good on them in. It's. On the referees to catch it and it's up for the players that are on the ball to play quicker. But they are willing to do anything and they have fully rounded out there game as much as they can. They've had a lot of time to work together all players. But one play for the domestic league in China. So this is a team that is going to be very difficult to break down. They have lots of numbers back, the, you're gonna have to do something special to beat them and they will go through us. One of the four third place teams, interesting. You mentioned the physicality hold heavy loves Spanish coach said this just before the game. Gina, I Eileen me they recommend. Oh, what that means is China plays at the very edge the very border of the rules. And there's a practice in Latin America. And it's it's done in English as well. But the the is called Gandhi Sonangol's Abby throws which is like you come out as a manager before a game. And you condition the refs. So this is that he said this in his press conference. Hey China's physical. China's physical China's physical referees. Are you listening? China's physical. I wonder if other managers as they face Jonah may start to do that. And if that affects the referees, I always wondered to the ref doesn't work you're that style debate now. So I think playing at certain teams that's their stick and they keep fouling you five thousand times because the referee doesn't want to disrupt the rhythm in the flow of the game. It's their responsibility to keep the game moving to have players expressing themselves. But, you know, you're going to call the agree just fouls. But when it happens every two minutes you can't stop the game. And so you can only give out so many yellow cards, you can only give out, you know, your do you kick somebody out and you don't see referees doing that at least strong referees getting on players enough. And that's what's gonna take against that. I think he might have been. He definitely was doing that. I have never seen at work to the point where it actually deters a team from exhibiting a little bit more physicality than necessary. So group B is going to give us three teams into the round of sixteen Germany first place, Spain second-place China third, we still have group a to get to plus a conversation about one of the US players that made their World Cup debut on Sunday. Jessica mcdonald. But first, a quick break. Cates, so on yesterday's show. We discussed some controversial comments from Emma. Hayes, a former manager of yours with the Chicago red stars, she coached back in two thousand and ten so I was going through Wicca pedia miss. I tend to do and I was looking at the Chicago that at the two thousand ten Chicago red stars roster doodoo you guys were stacked, I let me go through this horrible. I know you the results were not great. But the roster is impressive Meghan routine. Oh for Migo Whitney angen who ended up winning a World Cup title in two thousand fifteen with the US the aforementioned Kosovar, Asllani Cristiani, one of your forwards. Karen Carney, who is right now with the English team competing in the two thousand nineteen World Cup. And at number fifteen a defender, Kate, Mark graph a little further down the numerical roster. We have number twenty two young forward named Jessica. Macdonald MacDonald, then you'll remember on Sunday at thirty one years old made her World Cup debut for the US national team. I love Kate. I love the Jessica McDonald's story because this is a story that has been kind of bubbling for a while. If you follow national women's soccer league American women's soccer, you know of this player, it's so cool to see her at the World Cup stage..

"Think this is a team that definitely could win it as well as we've seen Foudy. I'm curious when we're back in the states where we have this opportunity to watch all these teams play one there. There are certain teams at stand out there like oh, they're really tough to be obviously France being the host country is the one that's giving a lot of attention. Not only for the result, but also their performance. My question is, who else is generating buzz on the ground there? I mean, I haven't been able to watch all games in their entirety. But what I saw Germany didn't impress me that I didn't see the entire the entire game I would say probably the one that. Gives me outside of France. The most pause in terms of being able to be the United States is England, and especially England in that first half against Scotland. I thought that you know, Nikita Paris was phenomenal. We know already about Lucy bronze and how phenomenal she can be? Frank Kirby didn't have the game of her life, nor did Beth Mead yet, you know, they're still playing. All right. And that's a team with DEP. I mean, they're, they're bringing off the bench. Karen Carney and. And you look at all the layers, they now have before Kate when we've been talking about England for the last decade, you could name, you know, they're key players on one hand. Right. And then you'd go up, but, you know, maybe they don't have the depth than this position or that position. And now you look at them and go, not only do they have the depth. They have the confidence. And it looks like they're playing with the little swagger. So I like England and I know that's not nearly as good as they can play. They said the same thing. But that's a that's a very good team. Both of you have England in the one point five tiers that in my remembering did Foudy have won five. I the only about doing one point five. Because he was the one point two three. Jacks, Ian was in dark. It was heading had them at one, right? On the only one that was like, yeah, but I want to see them for ninety minutes. They still are one point five for me only because of that second half. But Julia they want. Are they to your one now for you? England. I would put them tier one. Yes, VM going with it do it. That way we haven't gonna fight. We'd be courageous that brave statement. Stepping out on that limb. Look, let's let's dive in really quick what we've got the time on the US team. I know they're playing Thailand tomorrow. So maybe we don't need a full scouting report of what is gonna look look like Julie. Maybe the only question left around this, starting eleven before we said farewell to you during the preview show, was would it be Lindsey Horon or Samuel? You've been around the team or twenty four hours out now where do you see Jill LS making that decision? I would I would be. Hypothesizing here. But I think she's going to go. Jill Ellison is going to go with Sam yoU', although I would I think that I would like to see haram. Get those minutes and that confidence, because as we've talked about her if Horon is playing confident and well then she can be such a game changer. And you know, already and Samuel you have that. So. I think she's going to go with US, but I'm hoping it's haram just to get her back up to speed. Also, I would be surprised if it was music. Would you be surprised surprised? I think it would be crushing her confidence because then what you wanna do. You wanna get them both playing at the same level that then you can make that choice in that game that you think one of them could have a bigger advantage. Right. I would say newes she's really good at connecting a little bit higher up. Her can hit those longer unlocking balls. Right. And she's an excellent target on set pieces. Both of them are. But I think.

"The manager of public information and marketing for will Rogers world airport and recently, they announced a new expansion that will add more gates and other interesting things it's about an eighty nine million dollar expansion. Is that right? Karen? That is correct. So get me all excited about this. Yeah. I'll get to excited about all the construction you're going to encounter when he start coming to the airport. You know, many of us have been around long enough that we remembered the last expansion that we did. And it was completed in two thousand six and believe it or not we that was mostly an aesthetic improvements. You know, we did expand every all the building. But we only ended up with one new gate additional gate than what we had previously. So as as our air service continues to grow and the airlines we get more airlines more flights. We we basically are out of airline gates. So that's kind of what drove the decision for making this expansion because we want to be able to accommodate any airline and their needs new or existing carrier hair. So that was really the the driving force for the expansion. So we are adding four new gates. That's probably the one of the biggest things three of those will be airline gates. In other words, we'll lease them to an air carrier and the fourth one will be an airport gate and an airport gate. We use for charters we use for you know, diversions we get a lot of those in Oklahoma City that kind of thing. Additionally, we will be doing a new security checkpoint. It's almost hard for any of us to imagine that TSA did not exist at one point. But when we went through the last expansion project when we approve the plans and awarded the contract TEFA had not even been stood up yet. So the checkpoints have never really conform to what TSA needs, and and just flowing traffic, and that kind of thing so that's a really big issue that we're going to address in this project. And then I think one of the last things that I'm really excited about and I know a lot of people are because there there are a lot of people in your. Audience remember coming out in the old terminal building with an observation tower being? Yeah. Being able to go up and and watch planes, and when we did the last expansion that went away primarily because of budget reasons, but we kind of justified it with vac that oh everybody can go into the concourse. Well, we know that that is changed and you can't do that without a ticket. So we are going to have a space where if you are a non ticketed passenger if you're just coming out to pick somebody up or if you just wanna come out and watch planes. We're going to have an area where you can go and do that without a ticket. So we're really excited about that. Oh, that'll be fun. You're right. I remember when my daughter was very young we watch the planes and stuff, and well, that's delightful. Now, I saw report that you're going to expand the airport by several thousand hundred thousand feet. About one hundred and forty nine thousand square feet of new construction and you'll have the gates and then you'll have the gate where will the observation tower. Be will it be above something that's current or over the New York? No. And it will be over the new part. So we'll have a big huge lobby area that will be in front of the the security checkpoint that will be one place where you can enter enter there will be a stairwell there in that lobby. And then the other place will be we are taking the existing checkpoints that we have right now. And turning them into what we call meter greeter lounges places where you can go wait for your passengers. I'm sure you've all been out there had to stand at the top of the escalator. And is everybody's trying to see their their loved ones come out, the the excellent, but they will have big huge area. And there will be another stairwell there that you can go up to the observation area. So there will actually be to access points to that observation area, and it will not only look out onto the airfield. But you'll also be able to look down into the concourse area. So that's kind of fun as well. Oh, wow. That's going to be beautiful, isn't it? Yeah. Is it going to the architecture of similar to what is there? Now. Absolutely. I think that was one of the goals that we wanted to make sure that the new space was complementary to the architecture of the existing. So I think that's one it it it should be it should look like. Existing building. But it will have some new elements that will still be complementary, for example, we're putting in Toronto instead of tile, but they will complement the existing towel at some point. We'll probably replace all of the tile in the building. But right now Toronto, but we still have this native stone. We will still have the would warm wood paneling and certain areas that kind of thing, and you know, the landscaping is really beautiful when you when you arrive home and you're coming out to get on the giddy up. Landscaping is is really beautiful. So yeah, I'm excited about that. And two years out of our lives. Have you started yet we have? And I think if you if you came out two weeks ago or three weeks ago and come out now, it's going to be quite a bit different. You're going to see a lot of construction walls one renovation piece that we're doing that's actually taking place in the ticket lobby. We have a center elevator. That goes from the tunnel level all the way up to the ticket lobbying ticket lobby level. And we're actually pushing that out to the front of the building. So that there's more circulation space. So there's construction walls there. There's construction walls at the end of the east end of the building we've walled off the old secure east security checkpoints. So you're gonna see a lot of wall's going up and probably within a week or so you can start hearing noise. A lot of ExCo. Ovation and things like that exciting. Okay. We have a minute left. What about relied D R? Where's the like we were moving forward? We still you know, we Oklahoma's on a month of a year to year extension. So we know we're good until October of this year. But our understanding is the state of Oklahoma is moving toward compliance. So we feel pretty confident that we'll get that final extension and October two thousand nineteen so for now, you're good. We'll probably at the end of the summer will be regrouping and trying to let people know if they need to be getting a passport or something like that. Okay. And pre check. How do you become part of pre check pretexts great. You need to go to the TSA website. You can now there's actually an Office Depot and the south side of Oklahoma City where you can go in and get your in interview and fingerprints. But Preregister online kind of how they do it. So you get all your documentation information. And then you bring your documentation to one of two locations and oklahom-. City and it saves you a lot of time. You don't have to take your shoes off or your laptop out of the bag. It's awesome. It is awesome. Karen Carney is the public information manager for marketing and information at will Rogers world airport. Happy Easter to you. And thank you so much for your time. Thank you Glen. I appreciate it. Always great to talk to you..

"Weekend. So I hope you're having a wonderful weekend. Joining me today is Karen Carney. She is the public information and marketing manager for will Rogers world airport, and you know, care and one of the great things about Oklahoma City and coming home from anywhere else in the world to Oklahoma City. I think is how wonderful will Rogers world airport is. And now you've got some big announcements that there's probably going to make it even more wonderful. Thank you for joining me. Well, thank you so much for having me. Yes. We've got lots of good things going on. And you know, at other airports, it seemed like he'd drive around you drive around you drive around, and you hope you can find a parking place. You all had a brand new announcement when it comes to parking. Well, we did we finally it's it's kind of been a long painful project for us, which is are two story parking garage. Just a couple years ago. We had a rental car facility that was constructed on Meridian, and we relocated the rental cars up there. And we thought oh, this'll be great to have our premium parking. But we needed to do some improvement before we we opened that up as premium parking parking to our customers, and it turned to be a little bit of a challenge with some waterproofing issues and some refurbishment and things like that. But we have finally got it open, and we're really excited about it. Because it's it's close in covered parking does cost you a little bit more. But you're just a few steps. Across to the terminal building. And we can now make reservations online, so you can have a reserve spot when you come out to the airport, and we're really excited about it. And finally getting that product project done and open to the public. Wow. Reservations online for premium parking. Yes. How do you do that? That's fantastic. Well, basically, you go to fly o'casey dot com, and you know, parking and you see premium parking, and there's a link through there is a five dollar fee to to do as kind of an administrative fee, but you can reserve it now or in three months whenever you want to reserve it, and it's already approved amazing. We've only had the garage open for a couple of days believe it or not and people are already taking advantage of that, you know, just kinda showing how much people want to have that cover assurance of covered parking. When they go out of town. So it's. A really nice thing. Well, great strategy to do it in the spring. In Oklahoma has and everything else. That's great strategy on your part congratulate. I'd like to think it was that strategy that we time to first spring. But it just got came out that way, but we do. Yes. Our garage parking is always, you know, very popular in the spring, and we were also very excited because while we were doing the rehab project on the two story we had to relocate the hourly parking and take up some of our long term parking in the garage. So we were really excited to get that hourly Pat parking back to where it's supposed to be and releasing a couple of hundred spaces back into our five story garage parking. So as we head into the summertime, we think that you know, we're going to have their there was still be days when it fills up because we have peak days just like any other business, but we have a lot more parking this summer than we did last summer. Put it that way. How many people fly through will Rogers world airport? You can do it monthly daily yearly. I don't care. I'm just curious last year was a record year. We had four point three million people that traveled through for the entire year. And that came on the heels of two thousand. Seventeen which was also a record year. So we in that was just not quite for millions. So we we bumped up quite a bit in that year between two thousand seventeen and eighteen so people are really utilizing the airport. And I think a lot of that also has to do with the fact that we've added some great air service over the last two years. Some of the most recent announcements were Southwest Airlines. American Airlines are now flying nonstop to washing. Ronald Reagan, Washington, National DCA as most people referred to it, which was a huge win for Oklahoma City. We've been trying to get that market for a long time. American airlines. Also, ask added Philadelphia frontier. Airlines entered the market in the last year and a half. So there have been several things like that. And I think that just shows that the airlines are believing. In Oklahoma City, and the growth and everything that's going on here that they're adding more capacity in our market gifts. And of course, the maps talk his when all the maps are done. We're going to have all these people arriving here at the same time and all that stuff. So it's really good that you all are working head of time because well, we're going to be really popular at all at once. Exactly when we when I talked to airlines, and I do it quite a several times a year, and I talked about the map projects. And and the airlines are really really interested in that. Because they want to know what's happening in a community not so much airport by what's happening. What's going to drive people to fly and the convention center? Of course is a huge project that we're really anxious to get open in airlines, very interested in that. So it's it's it's very exciting. And I appreciate giddy up because I tend to park out and appreciate the giddy up service has will. Good. Yeah. Well, and we're getting ready. We have so many projects you started out the conversation saying, oh, it's always so easy. When you come home to Oklahoma City, but we are getting into the next couple of years where we've got a lot of improvement projects. One of which will be resurfacing three service surfacing are are surface. Lots. So basically a little bit of pain there that will be a little bit. You'll still be able to get on the giddy up. We'll make sure you have his face. That's good. That's good. So the big announcement was a new expansion to add more gates. Well, in addition, I this parking thing again is fantastic. And for people that may be missed it. What's the best way to reserve online? So the best way is to just go to fly. Okay. See dot com slash parking. And then it kind of lists all of the parking options that we have available at the airport. If you click premium right now premium is the only place where we have reservations available, and there's a link there too. That'll just take you right and walk you through the reservation process, and how much is premium parking per day. It's eighteen dollars per day eighteen per day. Okay. But you know, if you've during a hailstorm that would be really inexpensive. Well, you know, a lot of people even prior. To this. We we had quite a few customers that would just pay twenty four dollars a day staying in the hourly parking lot because they just like the convenience. It's important to him. It means you know, in impacts their time, especially for business travelers. So there there definitely is an audience for that interesting people that would pay twenty four dollars a day just to be able to park up on top in in walk straight in. I guess it just it just, you know, it's a it's a time thing and the thing. Yeah. Which before we go into the expansion of I want to talk about security that's going to be part of the new expansion. But what is the status of the security screening right now? Well, I mean right now so as in preparation for the expansion project because we're building a new centralized checkpoint. And we're expanding the building itself to the east. We had to take down our east checkpoint, which really was kind of underutilized anyway would be open during peak times of the day. But we built a temporary we call it the AmEx location right next to the main security checkpoint. So technically, we still have the same. What we refer to as throughput. But it's you know, it's more condensed. The queue lines are longer because everybody's in one location. So even though TSA then they do an amazing job and processing people and getting people through. There are going to be very busy times of the day where you could have fifteen to twenty minute. Wait switch for. For us is kind of different. We're not used to that. But I think as we enter into the summer we need to be prepared for that. So are you recommending an hour hour and a half prior to boarding? What do you recommend? Well, I always recommend at least an hour and a half, and it mainly because we know you can come out, and there are days you can come out. And it takes you fifteen minutes to check in and go through the checkpoint. But what sometimes happens, especially at peak times of the day, you'll have to wait at the ticket counter. If you're checking a bag, and then you get to the checkpoint. And and the the lines can swell in a matter minutes like you could walk in and nobody being the checkpoint in fifteen minutes later, it's bull. So you just don't want to risk risk that not making it. So I always.
