"Episodes and if you hit the little follow button to get notifications when new episodes are posted true sorry axle this way in the back and forth we invite and from the prove that proves to you for the Minnesota retailers earlier in the show to kick it off we heard from Karen Housley about the three to legislation Bruce that's something your organization is taking part in as well can you tell us a little about the the perspective from the the retailer side of things we heard about the legislative perspective can you give us kind of the the breakdown of of where guest convenience stores specifically our act in in in the change that's that's a foot hopefully hopefully yeah I know I think there's some really interesting stuff going on the market right now not just consumers but brewers banquet finer stuff selling interesting apex were you know three to is gone away everywhere else except for here in Minnesota we've got consumer demand for convenience they wanna shop where they shop they want the products for the one and then you've got community of just in the house I just keep coming in awesome beer scene because I don't want us to call it right but I think we're standing away a little bit in the way of innovation in that space right now so you know a lot of convenience stores and grocery stores are just like the option to sell little different product that consumers want yeah I mean if you go to you know different spots around the country you can see there's keeping stores selling craft beer they're selling craft spirits they're selling wine they're selling things that people want to buy I don't know anybody that wants to buy three two products honestly I think we know a lot of people who drink a lot of here I know like you know you you name a type of beer drinker and I know one I'm friends with them why you look at me like that I yeah I mean it is kind of interesting all the states to touch Minnesota have a completely different way different approach yeah and so it's always interesting when you talk to somebody who was it from here and and you know they go that first time to the convenience store to grab a couple things and get the gas and the like I don't really understand what's going on here are we saving you know what's going on yeah well I think that that's part of the part of the problem is that the the feels like there's the the sky is falling mentality I think that's that's kind of really the the she had the nail on the head when she describes the the mentality and if you've spent time with the capital I've just I've been there a little bit and that's kind of the way it gets described as that if this if this happens the whole world is going to crumble and tumble and it's like now things just kind of changed a little bit they think they they had no idea there are other states out there that do things differently look at an end and dissuade a lot of these concerns L. L. I. I think the you know we touched on it a bit and I think the the municipality system the the municipal liquor stores thank our our maybe the the most influential when it comes to some of these changes and and I don't know if that's perspective you have Bruce yeah I know and I think there's a lot of objections to looking at life different relative alkyl here across the spectrum not just three two right but mostly I it's seems like one of those very where there's a lot of opportunity for compromise so I always hesitate to point the finger at one party one system standing in the way of progress sure and I think we've got plenty of blame to go around yeah we got a hundred we're we're there we're working through Indian Smitty will do will be a finger point yeah you don't have our thinkers work really well there's there's so much opportunity in the space for so many people yeah I guess my my big picture worry is we kind of keep things in place to keep us looking at things in a real narrow focus and we miss out on some of the innovation that can occur today and I think that would be the true sad thing for Minnesota yeah when I think that you know the you know no matter where you're coming at it in in this perspective whether it's it's from the the wholesaler perspective from a consumer perspective from the convenience store perspective if if forty nine other states have figured it out maybe it's time we take a look at it right so make it work compromise get together basher heads together and figure it out right and that might happen in an interactive manner that might happen in time in pieces you know right now if I hesitate to call the three to crisis but if you are stored so three two products or as clean store grocery store and other sorts itself three two hotels that have little stores if you're selling that product you have less to offer consumer today so on its surface that's a problem at a larger picture level you know we've got convenience stores that operate completely different models today than they did in nineteen fifty sure I know a great story Minneapolis you can get some of the best donuts on organic salsa at this corner can you know what this guy would love to sell you know more product that's locally sourced it matches his model so we gotta figure that out yeah you know I always thought that there would be a move once Sunday sales passed to make convenience stores specifically in and maybe grocery stores to more whole because that three two was going to go away right because you surely their their sales have changed right right and so maybe make it more uniform as far as what's available for them to be able to make available to their to their consumers right and it and I think you know it's something I want to think beyond that three two product right now I do I sent a great meeting with the city so cities have been fairly active especially in the mature a regulating products for convenience stores I set a meeting an addict the guy from inspections apartments across table he greatest idea he said you know I know we're kind of taking away revenue in this area why don't you think of other areas we could expand revenue great idea okay so we talk about carrots we talk about you know fresh fruits foods and fruits and then eventually he gets to the point where so like you know an alcohol it seems like you guys can barely sell anything and alcohol you know what today's thriving market why can't why can't I'm gonna make a lot of people say why can't you walk into a convenience store and import growler now I know we're far away from that I know folks that sell growlers you don't have to get past some of the apartments that they have right now right but I think you know now is that miss Minnesota now is the time to have some this big picture conversational I think that's a great transition maybe into some of the other conversations we can have Zach you you sit on the on the legislative border to gill do not is there is there a movement in the in the guild to maybe make some some changes to what is available via the I guess container size be a growler or otherwise moving forward yeah there's definitely a lot of moving pieces right now the capital but yeah we are we are pushing for in addition to raising the growler cap just something that a lot of people heard about with that several breweries hitting that took twenty thousand barrel capacity we're also looking to expand the vessel size what's kind of a little bit aligned with some of the things the senator how Housley is are vying for is consumer access you know we sell four packs and six packs to liquor stores but we can't selling direct to consumer that has to be a seven hundred fifty milliliter order sixty four ounce growler or crawlers and where we're pushing to X. expand that to include any anything from twelve ounces up to the growler size so that you know this this beer that we spend a lot of time quality focused packaging can get sold to the consumer in a vessel size that they can consume if they want to have one beer with dinner it doesn't have to be a seven hundred fifty milliliter fear and yeah and it's it's kind of a a consumer access thing there is also some talk of growlers for all where liquor stores could set up their own growler filling stations and and have some that specialty beer that some of these smaller niche breweries that don't put into a package but could be available you know what are the odds that some of this comes down to the old political horse trading that that sometimes happens you know where where you eat at the end of the email I'll propose this bill this group opposes this bill this group opposes this bill and then at the end of the session well we gave on this they give on that this group gives on that and at the end of the session you know we have growlers for all three two is done away with it and and there's access for everything in in every retail aspect is is there is there a shining rainbow at at the end of the legislative session is there a possibility that we could live in a in a modern Minnesota forty six hours right I think so I think I think that's hopefully what will happen I think the frustration on a lot of parties parts is that you know center house we talked about how nothing is being heard nothing's been passed in in quite some time and we need to make moves you know towards towards a more modern system the we talked about the state's nearby you can sell for Packers X. factor if you if you know we open open a taproom in Wisconsin right now we can sell beer we want out the front door one sat right passion I've carried cases of beer out of Wisconsin breweries fellowship and the sky did not fall and it was me I was the same thing in North Carolina yeah you know bought a six pack in a growler right out of the right out of the tap room in North Carolina it was crazy and now is money into their local economy yep right and and then money that would have been spent otherwise so let's take a quick break we got one more segment of this week's edition of the Minnesota beer cast to get to and we'll do that right after this Hey it's true from justice Andrew when you're listening to Twin Cities news talk A. M. eleven thirty and one oh three five FM.

"Weeknights. Appreciate you. Joining us in ketchup on past shows by doing a search for closing argument in your iheartradio app. And our channel will pop up for you. Appreciate you doing that. Also, appreciate it. When you go on Facebook and search for closing argument with Walter Hudson like our page set yourself to be notified when we post things we do little live streams for the first segment of the program. It's become a habit over the past week or so and I enjoy it. I think it's been working out for us in terms of getting a little bit of extra promotion going and also giving you a look at some of the guests that we have in studio here as well. Six five one nine eight nine five eight five five is the number to join us brand is in this week for Brad who's off doing whatever bread does when he's not here apparently as life as a pretty interesting life Formula one this week. So there you go. Yeah. He was hanging out with celebrities last time us and now he's doing form of the like. He like a secret agent or some when pizza I would not put that past him profile, very secretive social goings on of of Brad nothing that I can possibly relate to either now or from a youth me neither but happy to be here. Good for him. All right. So I wanna start off tonight talking about a story that I haven't been listening. I I probably shouldn't say this as I radio professional who has an obligation to promote the rest of the station. But I have not been listening to radio today. I have not been entertaining podcasts or I've been busy working busy just living life as many of you have as well. And so I haven't heard whether or not there's been much reaction to or conservative commentary regarding this controversy involving Karen Housley that emerged over the weekend. There's a piece over the Huffington Post that basically calls her racist. And if you checked Twitter at all if you were watching Twitter feeds in your. Your setup to follow political goings on in Minnesota, no doubt, you came across threads tweets comments, retweets along the lines of Karin Housley is some sort of racist because of a comment she made in the past. And I imagine that this is the kind of story that typically is avoided by commentators. Because what can you say, what can you say in response to a comment that was obviously in our full. We'll get into the specifics of what it was here momentarily, but how could you possibly defend this, right? How could you possibly defend Karin Housley comparing first lady Michelle Obama to a chimp where where could you possibly pivot to from that that would be in any way redeeming? Here's the exact, quote, I just looked this up. Okay. So this is the Facebook post that she posted. And you should always be careful when you're saying I'm just going to put that out there. But here's what she says speaking of bedtime for Bonzo, which is a Ronald Reagan move. Where he was raising a chimp, I think even that chimps stood up straighter than Michelle. Blah, blah, blah. That's all she says about the chimp, but she's not comparing her to the chimps. She's okay. It's not great to say the chimp is doing something better. Michelle, the first lady, whatever. But that's that's I don't really take. It should I take. I'm asking, you know, should I don't need. My permission. For that out there. I'm not taking offence. Good good. I appreciate that. No, listen. There's there's two different levels on which you can react to this. And the first level the most obvious level is the one that the left wants us to engage on. And that's the question of whether or not this comment is racist. And whether or not this comment demonstrates that the Republican endorsed candidate for US Senate running against Tina Smith Karin Housley is in fact, a racist is Karen Housley racist. That's the question that they want us to focus on now. I I have no trouble addressing that question. Engaging in that argument, and my answer in brief is no I don't think she's a racist to my mind racism, especially given the the level of. Social sanction or social censure that's involved with being identified as a racist. The consequences that come along with being revealed having the mass pulled off of we found racist to me there ought to be a fairly high level of proof burden of proof upon the accuser or accusers in this case to demonstrate that the person under attack under fire is in fact, a racist. And I don't feel as though this comment for the reasons that suggests qualifies as prima facie evidence that Karin Housley running around trying to concoct ways to perpetuate white supremacy, and subjugate minorities really doesn't seem to be clear to me from that particular comment comment where she was she was specifically talking about the first lady's posture in a in a high society social situation, she was meeting Queen Elizabeth, right? And so she sang duets proud represents. Well as. Country stand up straight. Obey the laws of etiquette. The rules of etiquette that are appropriate for that menu. That was the point that she was making now is it an artful in ill advised to make reference to champion any capacity airy given who you're talking about. Absolutely, no question. Right. Full pa. Sure racist. I reserve judgment. I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna way the full breadth and width of Karen house, lease deeds and words over the course of her entire life in the course of her public service and take that into consideration before I decide based upon one comment that she's a racist. But to my mind that is that's what the left wants us to have their argument is issue racist. Or isn't. She to me that is the least interesting question. It's the least interesting question. Let's consider a premise for the sake of argument. Let's consider the premise that Karin Housley is a racist. And that this was her moment where she let it slip the mask peeled back. And we got a glimpse of the real Karin Housley, and she's actually a raging bigot. That hates black people. All right. Let's just accept that premise for the sake of argument. If that's true. I will still vote for as a black, man. I will still vote for now why why why would a black man vote for bigot? That doesn't make any sense why you're voting against your own best interests, Walter don't, you know? Well, actually, no, actually, I'm not for a variety of reasons mostly because you know, to sum it up in one statement, I'm more concerned about what people do and in the realm of public policy what they prescribe for policy. I'm more concerned with what somebody's going to do with me. Then what they think about me. I don't care. I mean, I've I've met Karen I've talked to Karen, she seems like a nice lady I have no desire to be disliked by her. But I also don't particularly care if I am right. Like, it's there's nothing at stake for me in terms of whether or not she likes me, or if she doesn't like me why she does like we're not at that point me in her on a personal level, where her opinion of me, actually matters on some sort of like it's gonna it's gonna divert me from my life schools in my values. So that's not particularly interesting to me. What's interesting to me? What's relevant to me in the context of an election is what is she going to do if elected? Let me give you a list I came up with this on my way in prep of the show tonight. Here's a list of things that I am confident Karin Housley will never do to me. Karin Housley will never tell me that I may uninformed African American now the left will do this. And I know they will because they did today on Twitter not just to me, but to other African Americans as well who are uninformed by virtue of the fact that we don't support them that we disagree with them. Right. Karin Housley will never tell me that I can't succeed in life without her help that I have some sort of on account of my race on account of the color of my skin. I have some sort of handicap that keeps me from being able to succeed and persevere and sustain myself and thrive and achieve my goals. And so I need her to Bill me out. I need her to pass a law. I need her to implement a program. I need her to steal money from somebody else to redistribute it to me in order for me to have any hope of happiness in this life. She's never going to do that. To me. The left will Tina Smith will Karin Housley is never going to tell me what I need to think. What I need to say. And what I need to do to qualify is a good example of a minority. She's never never going to define my blackness on my behalf. The left does that every single day. Again it day on Twitter. In the context of this scenario. Right. The correct response as an African American the correct response to Karin Housley is outrage and to fall in line with the leftist prescriptions for public policy and their view of the world. And if you don't have that response, if you disagree if you have a different point of view, if you have your own ideas, if you think for yourself, then you're a bad black person. You're a bad minority. Karin Housley is never going to get between me and my doctor. The left will Charon Housley is never going to get between me and my employer and defined the terms of our relationship what we can on what terms that relationships going to work. How much I can get paid. What benefits I must receive in order to secure and maintain my employment. She's never going to deprive me of opportunity on the basis of passing laws that make giving me a job impossible. The left will do that turn house. He's never going to get between me and my children. She's never she's not going to define for me. What education must look like what values. I have to instill in them. How our relationships going to be defined? What isn't isn't correct? To be taught to the next generation the left is doing that. And we'll continue to do that. Karen house. He's never going to keep me from pursuing my values. She's not going to prescribe greater regulation. She's not going to tie me to a pervert, Buell treat and keep me from doing what I wanna do in my own judgment in order to pursue my values in life, nor to pursue my happiness, and lastly Karin Housley, and this is a big one Karin Housley is not going to steal from me. Her idea of making the world. A better place doesn't involve taking what I have rightfully earned through my work on a day-to-day basis in an effort to provide for my family and provide for myself and to pursue my values. She's not going to steal that in order to repurpose it for what she thinks is the best highest use of my money, Tina Smith will the Democrats will. And so for all those reasons and many many more I would be willing to vote for Karin Housley, even if she was a racist, which she ain't six five one nine eight nine five eight five five closing argument. "Though, next week tell you more about that at seven eighteen right now stable thirty one degrees. All right. Thanks, mike. A lot of blue washing over Minnesota's map last night in the midterm elections beginning in Saint Paul. Ah? We're Democrats maintained control of the governor seat. But also flip the house. I the governor's race. You're Susie Jones. A big night for Tim walls who defeated his opponent. Jeff Johnson to become the state's next governor. We have that opportunity to build on the things that the state has done to create a way of life. Second to second-to-none Johnson offered these words during his concession speech. I absolutely don't just wish him luck. But I wish him success because I want to retire in this state, and this is the greatest state in America. And I wanted to continue to be that way walls campaigned on expanding the state's low income healthcare program to have a public option swells increasing education funding, Susie Jones, WCC, oh, governor elect Tim walls will join Dave Lee in just a few minutes at seven twenty this morning. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night state Democrats gaining at least fifteen seats in the Minnesota house to wrest control of the chain chamber from Republicans the House Democratic caucus has. A meeting scheduled for Thursday. And they'll vote on the next speaker of the Minnesota house in line for the politically powerful role is House Democratic leader. Melissa Hartman who told WC CEO's Chad Hartman that she's looking forward to the vote. I'm really not wondering how my chicken before they hatch. So I'll have a conversation which with each of the voting members of the caucus, and I I hope that I will have a chance to serve them as their next week or Gert doubt had been house speaker since two thousand fifteen and he called horsemen last night when it became a certainty that power had shifted Wortman says democratic candidates were successful because they talked to Minnesotans about what was important to them during the campaign. Al shock WC CEO congressman Keith Ellison is now Minnesota's attorney general eluding an ex girlfriend's accusation of domestic abuse. He defeated Republican Doug wardlow for an office that threaten to swing the Republicans for the first time in nearly fifty years people up so that they can afford the lives that they wanna live. We're gonna lift people up. We're going to protect. The rights of everyone everyone we're gonna protect Minnesota's congressional delegation will have five new faces when they take over in January two Republican incumbents were defeated Jason Lewis beaten by Angie, Craig and Erik Paulsen. Losing his seat to dean Philip Zine Phillips calls the win a testament to voters being more engaged. He says this election should serve as a wakeup call to other Republicans. He spoke with CEO's Chad Hartman shortly after the win my intention is to do this differently. I've been disappointed in leadership on both sides of the aisle kinda put people over party in principle over party. Former congressman Erik Paulsen thanked his supporters, holding back tears. It's absolutely been one of the highest honors of my life. Close had held the congressional seat for ten years. I also let him know that representing the people of Minnesota's third congressional district will be the greatest privilege that he's also ever had at girl and WCC in the eighth congressional district. Pete stabber beat democrat Joe rid innovate and a razor thin margin. Too close to call this morning between democrat, Dan, Fiene and Republican Jim hang adorn. That's the open seat left by now governor elect Tim walls, and Minnesota Senator Tina Smith was victorious last night in her bid to finish out the remaining two years of former Senator Al Franken seat, she defeated Republican Karen Housley, Minnesota senior Senator Amy klobuchar easily winning her race to head back to Washington for a.

"Sexton with American now, Montauk six fifty. Make no mistake American. You're a great American again. This is the Buck Sexton show. Analysts. Remember, the NYPD? Buck sexton. Now. Welcome back to the Buck Sexton show marine Qassam covering for Buck Sexton today wanted to get a little bit more detail for you guys on some of the races taking place across the country culmination in just four days time on Tuesday. We will know does the house. Stay Republican control. Does the Senate joining us on the line to discuss it a good friend of mine commentator and analyst Matthew, Tim, and Matthew you've been following this? I think like no other I've seen. I mean, maybe maybe Pat Cadel could go toe to toe with you on this one of my favorites one of my favorite pollsters. But I think I think you know, you have become obsessed to to. Water. No, you tell me what lengths would you suggest that your obsession has engulfed? You know? I don't know. I think that might be a little stream. But you know, it's only talking about it's. It's all you're talking about is a very, you know, because this is a very very interesting moments because in two thousand sixteen we had a American electoral historic inflection, Trump did something no one did which is take down the union rustbelt democrat machine and make it Republican. And now twenty eighteen we get to see is that validated. Now, the cow will be the map is pretty difficult on the house is the mainstream media has suggested, but this Blue Wave they've been talking about the last few months is not only not materialized. But may actually be stillborn. The Senate is what nobody's really talking about. Because we could win a lot of Senate seats. Right now, we're pretty safe with fifty fifty one. And there's what they're calling six tossup seats, and we should be able to run the team by we. I mean Republicans, you know, on the on the right up pro-trump Republicans not the old school establishment GOP. They also got their butts handed to him in two thousand sixteen on a lot of levels, which has been refreshing. But there's six established possib see, and we've looked to basically run the table on them. The the the only one that's really difficult is Florida Florida's sort of been new Ohio, and it's very very important for twenty twenty because if the Democrats win both the Senate seat and the governor's mansion they will be in charge of redistricting, and they will be able to have some influence on where the fourth biggest state and really the most purple state in the country. Swings in twenty twenty. You know, it used to be the presidency was run one through Ohio but going forward it looks like it's going to be Florida, Texas, California, New York, the three largest states ahead of Florida Aurora style Bush, Texas, Republican, California and New York Democrat, but the six swing states that exist right now in this Senate race are are Florida, which is absolutely a coin flip, Missouri. Claire mccaskill in big trouble there, Indiana. Is also Joe Donnelly democrat incumbent is in big trouble there against Braun Nevada Heller the incumbent looks like he's in pretty good position. Arizona which is a open seat McCain seat. Which is I'm sorry seat, which is mix. Mark MC Sally established congresswoman and Kristen cinema. Also, a democrat established congresswoman and cinema has been sort of digging her own grave with those Stoorikhel active, leftist, activism. She's been engaged in there. Digging up all these videos of her saying things like, you know, she can empathize with the Taliban, and, you know, fighting America, you know, is okay and calls out Arizona, the meth lab of democracy. So there's all these seats. Look like Montana was the other one all look like we can pick them up. But the ones that nobody's talking about are ones that are lean democrat or firmly democrat, according to the establishment pollsters, and that's seats, like West Virginia. Joe Manchin are Michigan w stabbing. Now, there's a great candidate, John. James who's coming on strong? Trump is going to campaign for him this weekend, Wisconsin, Tammy Baldwin, also Gulnara, Wisconsin. Remember went for Trump, which was a big surprise, Hillary Clinton didn't campaign there and Trump did something brilliant, which was in the last couple of days, he went to Minneapolis, and that's a media market data impacts, western Wisconsin in northern Wisconsin Duluth, Minnesota as well. So I mean, these these permutations could get us to fifty seven fifty eight fifty nine in the Senate, Minnesota's well has a special election. Al Franken resigned for the metoo moment. And the appointee was Tina Smith who was Lieutenant governor. And she's running to keep the seat against a state Senator Karen Housley, and this is fifty fifty nobody's talking about this. And if you saw your listeners recall, Al Franken only won the seat from norm Coleman in two thousand twelve because there was a recount, and they were able to get the felon vote and three hundred forty felons were counted in the Minneapolis democratic machine Hennepin county. And we're able to swing that election. It was a multi-month recount and that seat was stolen. So Minnesota's really really interesting because it looks like it could be a new Ohio as well. And go from progressive bastion, which was like Wisconsin historically for last sixty seventy years along with Michigan, the heart of union, progressivism. And now it looks like it could it could start to be Republican. Minnesota eight is is in the north eastern part of the state and that one the Republican Stauber has a commanding lead. So that one looks like it's gonna flip Minnesota seven. Nobody's talking about. That's been held by democrat, Chris thirty years, and the Democrats that's sort of an old school Democrats blue dog Democrats member of both the Democratic Party, and the democratic farmer labor party, which is sort of a historical nominally that exists in Minnesota, which has it sounds farmer labor. And so this on Peterson's been there for for decades. And he has in the last three races watched his his his spread positive spread. Over Republican challengers, go from plus six or seven plus three or four to Muslim plus one last Michael against the guy opposing him. Now, David Hughes who at that point was a nobody nobody knew him. He was a twenty one year career US air force vet who had gone into private contracting are grown instructor and is very very strong on the border issues. This is what has private sector background was is in drone instruction to monitor the southern in the northern border and he's coming on strong. I spoke to somebody on the ground there who estimated that the yard signs in the district in Minnesota seven are four to five to one Hughes versus Peterson. So that's one that nobody's talking about that. I think is gonna flip. There are certainly something that off that the machine of media machine has written off as Republican flip the Democrats like Iowa one rod Blum. I don't think that one is ten to one as as their suggesting, you know, whenever I see made silver say that Republicans have a one in fifteen or one in twelve shot until we think in history born this. It's more like one in three or four which if things turn out as they are. We had a great economic number today with jobs that dynamic over the last month. I think these one three or one in four scenarios a lot of them could break toward Republicans. I actually think we keep the house and. The the net loss of seats is five to ten you know, we've got a twenty. And the media who's talking about the Blue Wave, this doesn't exist. Trump today in West Virginia said if you wanna Bluewave you're voting for a crimewave, which I thought was a great talking point giving their views on borders and policing in general law enforcement, hawker hawkish nece on on the military and foreign policy. So there's a lot of these seats that a lot of the establishment pollsters, and that's right and left have kind of written off a main to Bruce Polokwane, the only Republican in New England and all the New England states, Vermont New Hampshire Maine, Massachusetts Rhode Island. He's the only one he's in Maine to which is also the largest physical district in New England. It's all the way from where the urban sort of suburban main ends with the Bangor and and rapport all the way to Canada this massive district. And it's rather poor. It's a lot of Indian reservations, it's a lot of defunct paper and timber mills. And Bruce Pollock wins a Republican on on the ground there. It's all about God guns and small government. And he. Has been very strong for the district. He is known all over congress as somebody who really represent his district. They put up a very good candidate Jerry golden who is a former military and was actually a Republican staffer for Susan Collins before going into the state houses, a democrat until on papers, pretty good. But the more he campaigns the Moore left. He sounds and leftist rhetoric doesn't win and Maine to which is Indian reservation country, very very strong on the second amendment giving it sort of hunting, culture and bordering Canada and wilderness. Let's just let's just reset here for a moment. Because that's a lot of information for people to take in. And I know your brain works, a mile a minute and your mouth works. Even I about the let's let's just reset with. We're speaking of Matthew, Tim, and he's a obviously clearly from the last seven minutes, a pretty good analyst on all of this sort of thing elections, and and and more and Matthew. So you'll pretty bullish is what you're saying. I mean, you a lot of people hedging right now. Now, a lotta people especially behind closed doors, be blunt speaking to every day saying, look, you know, we have to present a brave front to this. But the likelihood is we are gonna lose the house. You don't think it's that way? At all. I don't think it's that way. At all. I think that's certainly will lose a few seats in California due to redistricting and retirements like, Ed Royce. But I that will be offset with some of this. Upper midwest Roosevelt like Minnesota a lot of the necessary pathway for the Democrats to take the house through places like Illinois. And yeah, it wouldn't always six suburban suburbs of Chicago. Pete rock them is probably done that area has transitioned to more Chicago city style politics machine, politics, but Illinois twelve thirteen and fourteen two of which are in town States, South of Saint Louis farm country. Boston Davis is Steve those were Trump plus fifteen and plus six respectively, those seats are fine and Denny Hastert sold and Illinois fourteen that was true. Oneplus four. It hasn't really changed at all the incumbent hold spring should be fine. And the irony is that other dams are running with this marketing campaign this young lady who lives in her. Parents her parents house, she's thirty something. And in fact, a market herself as if she's a a nurse in healthcare, and she's seven months out of graduation and never really worked in a clinical setting. So it's all kind of fluffy noise. And I don't think they're going to pick up these seats. That's necessary for them to do in New York state, which is obviously, you know, democratic governor to democratic senators what you see a lot of it's something we've talked in the past given your British shoplift background is the Corey factor. And you see a lot of polling where people won't admit that they're gonna vote for the Republican. And so New York twenty two is a great example. It's sort of in the center of the faith north of Albany all the way to Canada quite penny. And that was a Trump plus fifteen and also Romney, plus almost one. And so it's within the margin of error in the northeast. So I think torii factor has this within the margin of error. I think this is solid Trump country. There is a certainly going to be a loss. I think in New York nineteen which is John basil feet. That's north of New York City. I wish I honestly I wish we could have all of this laid out..

"State Senator Karen Housley, you have two minutes for your opening statement. Thank you, very much choice in John and WC CEO and hamline university and everybody here in the live audience. Thank you so much for coming. I really appreciate you putting on the debate. And thank you for showing up. I'm Karen Housley. I'm running for the United States Senate. I am a mom. I've been married to my high school sweetheart Phil Housley for thirty three years. We have four kids in a couple of them are here tonight and two grandchildren. I am also a small business owner, I have a real estate business in the Saint Croix valley operates both in Minnesota and in Wisconsin. And also a state Senator I served Senate district thirty nine which is the east metro Saint Croix river valley from Saint Mary's point all the way up the river through Stillwater all the way up to force. Like one of the one of the biggest issues that I've heard when it comes to what's on the minds of people of Minnesota is they're sick and tired of politicians. Not getting anything done in Washington DC is part of the reason that I ran for this seat is I'm sick and tired of it too. I'm sick and tired of the extremism and the partisan politics and not getting anything done when it comes to issues that I want to work on when I get to DC healthcare healthcare is the number one issue on people's minds throughout Minnesota. Our healthcare costs are premiums and deductibles have double and tripled since the failed Affordable Care Act, which turned out to be unaffordable came into Minnesota in the United States. Also, I want to work on immigration, we need to reform our immigration laws. It's it's in the news every single day. I will work to secure our borders to make sure that people here at home are safe. I also wanna work to continue what's happening in this country. And in Minnesota, we've got the lowest unemployment in fifty years. I want to continue to create jobs and keep our economy moving. I I also want to make sure that I will be a new voice for Minnesota in Washington DC, and I will work hard. Minnesotans have a real choice on November six and I'm asking for your vote on November six thank you..

Before two thousand five so between two thousand one and two thousand five okay? Steve Marsh who is a longtime writer here in town. Penn the father last year has a story about the Awa in the current Minneapolis, Saint Paul magazine, which is a very good read. It is good. Verne's power Verne's poll, and there's an item in there too. Where at one point. Vince McMahon is is trying to buy him out. Vern is defiant as it had to because he had a legendary successful professional career. And it's like no hit the road, buddy. Stay on the east coast. And then a few years later. It all went the other way, I've told this many times. I'm not sure why other than I think my father at times would struggle. To come up with when he had because I was with my father on. Some weekends and a Wednesday. When I lived with my mom. And my father was you know, my father as here's a hot take likes his career. And so so often we would go to sporting events. Well, I I bet atom I tended. Thirty Awa matches. What I was a kid, and then my father owned apartment complex out in Bloomington where who would stay there. The man who dethrone Vern ganja is with a great wrestlers of that era, Nick clock winkle, Nick, Bach, winkle and Nick would be he's from Beverly Hills, California any would come out either by himself because he was a great interview on his own. But then when he had Bobby I mean, it was I mean, it was an amazing comedies and is this pre weasel suit, right? But a lot of times Nick would say I've been in Beverly hill handing all week, and I'm I'm like a nine year old guy. No, I sat next you at the pool earlier in the day. It was just it was tremendous. And then because of my sister. My sister went to Robbins dill high school, which was the wrestling hotbed of town that I got to know Rick rude. And then at a party managing Rick ravishing. Rick rude. No, he doesn't like to be picked up. He insists on being. We'll get one of the I think somebody in the promotion staff to drive out in listened stories. I mean, I was an intern at this place and eighty six and a seven and proceeded either get yelled at by cannon yelled at by rich Holter lectured by curt Beckmann, or get the love and affection of Steve Martin, right and Tom Perez and Paul Berkley. So I mean, if you're here at this place and your assignment is to go get Jesse Ventura, and listen, I'll do it. How about you do the show, and I'll just drive Jesse back and forth. I'd have no problem with that whatsoever. Adams babysitter, what he was a young child car and Housley in the news. Let's reacted the car and Housley news remind you wanna talk about the president and his sixty minutes interview. We're gonna talk overrated. Underrated. We're gonna talk. Flu shots were to talk. What we do on airlines with people getting bigger and seats getting smaller. We'll talk about the Vikings. Are they back Carter? I mean, is it is it now just a question of what uniforms they will be wearing in the Super Bowl whereas the Super Bowl this year? Atlanta g a and are we going bins stadium or cities spans? Why don't we why don't we plan on if they all the shoulder either? I'm in. I'm in Lindy, my Lanta Atlanta. Let's he's gonna kind of. No, I like Atlanta. Yeah. We can do it. I've never been. Ada. "Four one eight nine four, one seven two four seven glad to have you. Along for the. Ride thanks a lot. That's carry lucky Kerry what's the update? On poor Peter Struck I mean. Nobody's really? Don't, anywhere are. They yes they are and the last day since this started he has now raised three hundred forty three thousand four hundred seventy dollars Shut your face See here's. Interested in, again I mean this is just the obviously a bunch. Of left-wing idiots just. Dumb you guys let me just. Help you out If you sent this. Guy a dime I'm. Just gonna help you out there But it's your money do whatever you wanna. Do I it's it's up to I have every right to call, you stupid and I think you are But I've never understood this about. This go fund me crap And it's not always crab symposia raise money for good causes but this clearly is not one of, them if you set the goal at. One hundred fifty thousand Shouldn't they shut the sucker off one hundred fifty thousand Instead go fund me is. A lot him to go up to three forty now and. Now the they're saying the goal? Is five hundred thousand Both know the yesterday That's right yeah So now he's going to be handed a bunch of money like two or three years salary by a bunch of left-wing dufuses, who aren't these the people that want us to give and and we should help the needy and. He's not needy I'm sure he's. Getting his pension I'm sure. He's doing fine. He's not needy go help somebody. Who's starving somebody go give it to, the Saint, Jude. Come on man it's absolutely. Ridiculous, to me I I got, to know though and this is the question of asking to, those, calling in oh I gave that story a while back where I was promoting the go. Fund me for so for the funeral of somebody who locally here the, San Antonio area a young man died in school in a. Fight or. Something And it bothered me because once they hit their goal which was five or. Ten thousand they kept on moving. The goalposts that I'm like. Well why am. I helping I'm asking people to. Take a look at the go fund, me and, see. What they think about it. And, it bothered me that they, changed look if you need five or ten thousand dollars four, fill, in the blank reason and then people like me jump on and say yeah that's a. Good reason let me help you out and then you start moving the, goalposts it tells me now you're in it for the money Bothered me remember remember that Remember that I don't remember the names involved, as an important, right now but you know I saw that and I felt for for maybe it. Was for the legal defense. Maybe it's for the funeral I, forget what it was four but they kept on moving the goalposts. And that really bothered me and, at that point in time those of you send me go fund me ideas or pages to help they might be. On the up and up but, from that point in time if I'm, not personally involved in it. I do not promote it 'cause I don't know what the goal is even even though it says a number and I don't know what you know how far you'll push past that goal because people are being very generous and. That's not. Okay with me all right are you gonna buy 'em Rosa's book because of all the? Coverage that you avoid it like. The plague you gotta buy the book is all this publicity working because I, had a friend of, mine told me at. Publicity any publicity? Is good. Am I going not really if, somebody says you're a rapist. You get, a lot, publicity I mean it's good but I mean the number Rosa's, case she's. Had goodwill publicity bad publicity. She's been on this side you've been on. That side and for her she. Seems to be Tough lawn is seems to, be it's all good so. Will you, go and, buy this book now let me go to the phone lines, and see. What you think about all. This it's going to be Elaine on one. In cages high lane Hi so you're gonna? Buy. No I no I would. Not buy the. Book not for anything anybody that comes out of, that White House and then wants to like that and then she said she had. Tape things in the White House isn't that against the law As. Far as I know it's against the law in. The situation room yes and she's trying to give some excuse while I feared. For my life so I have the legal right to record it. Which doesn't make any sense Now she's in that case, so you're saying no way All right I appreciate you I don't blame you hopefully nobody's going to buy, the book the one thing that I want because obviously the reason I brought a Peter Struck is that obviously a, bunch of. Left-wing loons have donated a bunch of money this guy so people on the left are going to. Buy this book, like. Gangbusters, it out tomorrow or something is it update whatever yeah. "With Sam. We have the Friday roundtable in, studio? Brian McDaniel Representative Nick Zerwas and. We have Tom Emmer joining us also in studio just after eight o'clock this. Morning looking looking, forward to that we don't get a chance to to get a, visit from Tom in studio. Very often it'd be nice to have him have have him back we had a couple of counterpoint to, the star Tribune's endorsements I one was governor Mark Dayton right throwing. His support. Behind Erin Murphy this is what here I quite enjoyed a. Lot editorial counterpoint from Richard painter Endorsement for the US Senate left out important points yes Ousting Donald Trump is a priority for me but I've repeatedly addressed, other issues to have you, among them conflicts of interest including that of Senator Smith the newspapers indoorsy by Richard. Major How does somebody? Who is a former Republican? Right, yeah how, do you, go from being a Republican to supporting Medicare, for all in signing on Bernie Sanders single payer Bill how does one intellectually, make where does that journey, begin well I mean you know No I. Haven't been tasked to defend or. Explain Richard painter before I don't have prepared, materials? But. He he his career his career if I was forced to do it his career has been focused? On a certain. Issue it has been ethics? Has been campaign finance it? Has, been stuff, like that He might not have, had many opinions before on these, other topics and wasn't, in a position where he needed to espouse those things what's interesting is. I was up at a conference in Saint Cloud for the cooperative networks and. They had Senator state Senator Karen. Housley they had Tina, Smith they had, Richard painter up there and they all gave a speech wasn't a debate speech and the only person to get questions from the crowd was Richard painter and, he got questions on drugs on guns on some other. Things to healthcare and you, know what he did his answers were goofy but, you know what did he answered every single one right there. And the other two candidates Housley Smith, didn't, get one question now that, might does not indicative of anything, but, they were questions and they were all for painter I think a lot I I would, say it actually is indicative, of something. And this isn't a dig on any, of the other candidates but with a guy like. Richard painter again his answers might be goofy. But people know he's going to He's gonna take whatever. You throw at him and you're. Going to get a, straight answer are, you may not like that straight answer might be goofy but you're going to get a very genuine response and again that's not to say other individuals won't, give genuine responses but if they weren't asked questions to. Me that speaks more to, the audience knowing hey if I ask painter something, I know that you know he's going to be no nonsense. And at least it'll be entertained well, and, he did finish every question, with a bite out of crime I do like the like, the? Last. Little thing he says without going through the whole Lonzo. Thing he says. In his counterpoint area says next Tuesday I will rise or fall on the ballot depending on whether voters care as much as I do about investigating, and removing this president vice presidents from from office. As well, as my insistence that it is consistent with ethics and, with Minnesota values dumpster fire I will rise, or fall I just I thought so, right, then we can we can, safely say that Minnesotans simply do not care about investigating this president any further tests right yes so. He doesn't win the that is the big takeaway I like it Is there Is their. Internal polling our internal movement within that Tina Smith camp that has now made them in the last seven to, ten days turn fire onto Richard painter and and go after there has to. Be some, I mean they're asked me something you're, not seeing, you, know current how's it going after Bobby Anderson or anything. Like that so I think that you ignore as much as you can you ignore your opponent until you have to. Address that and that appears it appears as though Richard painter has to be addressed. By. Smith Yep I think. You're right I think Richard painter has definitely drawn. Some intrigue remember nobody voted for. Tina Smith Tina Smith is a Senator you know be via appointment nobody has ever voted for. Tina Smith in anything and we do on the top of the ticket yeah yeah. I. Don't count Lieutenant governor. Is nobody voted for that ticket because of Tina. Smith you know what I mean So I don't really count that nobody's voted for Tina Smith for. Any office and a, lot of people's I don't think unless you follow politics closely know a whole lot about her and I don't feel like. She has done. A whole lot to. Get herself out. There and introduced herself and. Give voters the opportunity to get to know. Her and this election. Cycle it feels like she's kind of been coasting so far and, Richard painter for as as wacky and strange. As he is he's been, working he's, been working hard. He's been on a lot of radio shows he's been on a lot of interview shows he's got. Ads. Out, you got a lot of attention with that dumpster fire add well and remember he. Couldn't do that without money Right so somebody I mean I don't know if. You sell financing to, to a degree but somebody is donating to that campaign and you know that that is people who give money will give. Their vote has. Anybody seen in the. Early ballots I. The only reason I ask. Is because I know that for the articles. After Al Franken left. He was always the lead whenever they talked about tina's myth just, wondering if he ended up on the ballot Next next just remind everybody Dita's with Smith who, replaced who replaced Al Franken in parentheses you know I'm just wondering if anybody sample Bali.
