On CTV, Superintendent Rob Lassen said despite the discovery, the investigation into the accident would carry on. We don't know why the bus proceeded into the lane there. "Russia has indicated that it views Pope Francis's peace initiative, positively. The statements from the Russian foreign ministry was the first public acknowledgment by Moscow of the Pope's move. However, Moscow stressed there are no immediate plans for a Vatican mission to the country. It followed the Vatican's recent announcements that Italian cardinal Matteo zupi had been tapped by Francis as his envoy at a news conference told reporters the scope of his mission. This mission aims at helping ease the tensions of the conflict in Ukraine. BA cancels dozens of flights over computer problems ahead of busy holiday weekend
"British Airways has canceled dozens of flights due to computer problems disrupting the plans of thousands of travelers at the start of a busy holiday weekend, most of the dozens of affected flights were on short haul routes to and from Heathrow on what was expected to be the busiest day for UK air travel since before the coronavirus pandemic, computer issues caused planes and crew to be out of position. Other flights were delayed as some passengers were unable to check in online on its website the airline said they were working hard to fix the issue, travel is expected to be especially busy as a three day weekend coincides with the start of a weeklong holiday for most schools in Britain. Laundrie was one of my police and connection to petito's death when his body was found in a swamp land near his parents house. Petito's parents are now suing laundry's parents for a so called burn after reading letter in that letter, laundrie's mother promises to bring him a shovel and garbage bags to get rid of a body. She claims the letter was long before petito's death, but petito family believes it is tied to their daughter's murder, a Florida judge recently ruled the letter could be used as evidence in the lawsuit, and the laundry is released it. Crews work to reach Italian towns isolated by floods as cleanup begins
"Rescuers have been working to reach towns and villages in northern Italy after heavy rains and flooding cut off highways in electricity. In the northern city of faenza, Italian firefighters arrived by boats outside a building where an elderly lady needs to be evacuated. Her home has been inundated with water. They jump off their small dinghy into the chest high floodwaters and proceed to take her out on a stretcher the heavy rains in the area pushed two dozen rivers and tributaries to burst their banks. Several people have since died and some are still unaccounted for, local mayors have warned that some remote villages were completely cut off by landslides and phone lines were severed. That has prevented rescue teams from reaching residents and authorities from understanding the full scope of their needs. The news about a Virginia boy 6 year old took a firearm from his home brought it to school in his backpack before allegedly opening fire. Now that's not a grade 6. That's a 6th year old. Doctor Daniel Copeland is with hillsdale college. He's the education department chairman he's recently written in the Chicago Tribune, suggesting a solution in the classroom, schools must empower teachers to have the classroom authority, necessary for a healthy, well ordered learning environment. Doctor Copeland, those sound like words from long, long ago. That's great, John. I think we can all agree that teaching is a difficult job. And it's becoming more and more so. We're asking teachers to be social workers as it were. And I think we've kind of lost track of what teachers are supposed to be and quite frankly, I think that the reason why many people choose to go into teaching is because they care about their subject and they want to communicate that. And educators today want to continue to do that work, but they're doing so many other jobs, oftentimes when they appeal to authority, they don't get the kind of support that they need. And so they're not encouraged to play the role as classroom leader in their classroom. Just to clarify, you're a professor when we say teachers were speaking of elementary education, high school, collegiate, I assume. Most parents and teachers, I meet, want what you're talking about. I mean, it sounds great. Where is the disconnect? I think if you were to if you were to look at the news by today and what makes are the headlines is there's often tension between parents and what's going on in the school. And I really think that needs to be restored because parents obviously want their children to be educated and they are relying on the school as a resource to do that. But in order for that to happen, there has to be communication and trust and teachers need to recognize that parental authority. And then they have an obligation to open up the lines of communication and recognize that the education of young people is a partnership. It's a partnership between the families, the parents, the school, and the teachers as well. But again, the job of education it becomes so much more complicated than quite frankly, it needs to be. And I think we need to start by establishing that relationship, getting that relationship right, and then allowing and encouraging teachers to be able to take on that leadership role in the classroom. We have a family member, she's a teacher, got into teaching because of what you alluded to. She loved special education, has a special place in her heart. She teaches kids in the elementary grade realm, but there are misbehavior issues. And her hands are tied. She tells us the school says she can't do anything about it. Yeah, that's right. And it's really too bad because again, the majority of people who go into teaching are not going into teaching to get wealthy, right? And so they're going in because they love children and they want to they want to share their love of knowledge and skills and understanding about the world. They want to be able to do that. But you're exactly right. Many educators feel as though their hands are tied because of political correctness or wokeness or whatever. They're distracted from their primary job, which is to shape the hearts and the minds of young people. And so as I say in the article, we need to empower those teachers and allow them to be able to encourage them to be leaders in the classroom. And when I say leaders, this is not some kind of a power move or anything. I'm talking about being leaders in the true sense of the word that they know about the subject, but more importantly, to be kind of models of what it means to be a mature adult. We need to encourage teachers to be the best version of themselves, but quite frankly the structure in which they operate oftentimes they're not encouraged to do that. Doctor Copeland referenced an article that's in the Chicago Tribune but for a longer read and a deeper dive, doctor Copeland has recently published a book, tried and true, a primer on sound pedagogy, which what the art of teaching.
