Yes, we made it through the snow in the weekend in the NFL games to start another week. The final week of January. So put on your seat belt and let's get rolling right here on a Monday afternoon. What about that? What's going on? Auburn tigers number one. That's not football. It's basketball. Remember a week ago, everyone was upset. Some guy in Kansas City voted them 9th. Who Is David Israelite, Head of National Music Publishers Association?

"The country's in an interesting place right now, David. And what I'd love to do to start off here is just give us a little bit about, you know, you said you went to law school at Missouri, but tell us a little about where you come from and sort of how we got to where you're at. You know, a little bit today and then we'll go back and pick up some pieces. Sure, so I grew up in Lee summit, Missouri, which is a suburb of Kansas City. Parents moved our family there after being born in Chicago as a young kid and so I grew up in Missouri and loved politics. It was the kid in high school that carried the briefcase and wanted to be in Washington. And I came to Washington in college as an intern for Missouri senator named kit Bond. And it was during that internship that I knew that's where I wanted to be. So I ended up coming back to Washington during law school to go to Georgetown at night while I worked in the Senate. And then after practicing for a few years, I came back to be that senator kit bonds top aide in the Senate, around his reelection campaign, and it was during that campaign. I got to know a lot of the folks on the governor Bush team pretty well. And so when the 98 Senate reelection was over, I then went immediately to the Republican National Committee as the political and government affairs director to work on the Bush presidential campaign. And had two years there, which was thrilling, obviously, you know, a successful presidential campaign. And when that was done, the other Missouri senator was a guy named John ashcroft, who got appointed to be attorney general and asked me to come with him over to the Justice Department, which I thought would be a short term kind of fun stint before getting back to my life and instead, 9 11 happened soon after we got there and it became instead a calling where I was going to stay there with him and I did for four years. But during that time, we stood up a task force on intellectual property and the attorney general was kind enough to let me share this task force. And that's really what got me into the music issues is that I was looking at it from the side of the government, helping protect what was going on at the time, which was mostly theft of music, theft of movies, and that's what really peaked my interest into an industry music, which I had always loved.

"In addition, the order recommends that hopi businesses restrict capacity to half and implement screening for staff along with cleaning and disinfecting protocols, it will remain in place until March 13th. More than 90% of eligible hopey tribal members have been fully vaccinated against COVID. For national native news on Ryan Hess in Flagstaff. Native American community members in the greater Kansas City area are continuing to call on the Kansas City football team to change their name and end the use of Indian stereotypes. Members of the group, not in our honor, demonstrated at the team's home playoff game on Sunday, galene crouser is director of the Kansas City Indian center. Our purpose out here is to continue to raise awareness about the stereotypical use of our imagery. And the blatant racism that still occurs, you know, all these years after the civil rights, the fight for civil rights. And so indigenous people are still way at the bottom of that list being recognized for who we are as human beings. Members of the group and their allies hosted demonstrations outside the team stadium at all home games during the NFL 2021 season. They also have four changed the name billboards up in the city. The team is woven into everything in Kansas City. All this messaging out there that it's okay with us as Indian people and it's not. And if nobody else stands up and says, hey, this isn't cool, then their message just stands unanswered. And so we have to, as Indian organizations here in Kansas City, we have to be the ones that stand out here in the cold and say, hey, that is not the truth. They do have a couple of people that have said it's okay and on their working group. But the majority of us don't agree with it. The group has long called for the Kansas City football team to end the use of native imagery, including in the arrowhead logo and the use of native terms and seek the NFL's zero tolerance for on field use of racial slurs to be applied. Fans are banned from wearing warlike paint or headdresses into the stadium. The U.S. Department of Agriculture is holding a tribal leader consultation and listening session Thursday on creating a plan to create a more competitive fairer market for meat poultry and seafood processing. The USDA is seeking input from tribes as there are new funding opportunities being made available. The White House announced a nationwide plan earlier this month to boost competition and reduced prices and the meat processing industry..

"How the offense was able to come back because the first half. The browns in my opinion played as perfect as they possibly could. Kevin stansky did a helluva job in the first half extremely aggressive going for on that fourth down. When chris jones had the offsides Went for the two point conversion and got it. They made the the chiefs play from behind day for as equally aggressive as they were in the first half. They just let off the guests. How many times back in the past and we see andy redo something similar. You get a lead you try to run the clock out. Well guess what too. Much time left on the clock kevin's to get think we'll learn from this the thing. The browns played a fantastic game. But just let that sink in the browns play. Nearly perfect in the chiefs. Were still able to come back a lot of folks have. The browns is what the third best team in the afc. A playoff team the chiefs first time with his offensive line against great defense one of the best stevens affronts able to still hang thirty three able to come back just to me the says more about kansas city chiefs than it does. The cleveland browns. That yes how good. Kansas city is cleveland browns. Nothing to be sad about. You played a very good game. She's just better. Yeah i look. I wanna give credit to the browns here because they had a hell of a game plan early executed to perfection right. Stefanski was just looking like a coaching genius. Nick cia. I mean nick chub and cream hunt were running through our defense through the chiefs defense like like a knife through your melted butter like it was crazy it was it was insane to watch except it was the same feeling. I got whenever like lev. Bell used to be the patient runner for the steelers that he was. And you know he's gonna run. He does that stutter. Step thing and you're like you're like that dude gonna get a first down and we won't be able to stop it and we know it and we couldn't do it so i you know the brown looked. The browns lost to a great team. If you were watching the buffalo bills yesterday right now do you really think turn number two like yes you do. Because i'm watching this brown's team and i'm thinking you know what they didn't have some key players to jed rick wills went out to left tackle. You know odell wasn't even in the game at all grant in the safety. I mean they were missing some key guys to you just like the chiefs. They're very young team. they're only going to get. They've got sixteen.

"Early in the in the preseason was this chiefs defensive line as really talented. Didn't look like today and the first half. I mean you could have driven a mack truck through some of those holes was it. was it. Just early season jitters like. What do you make that early performance. I make that they suck. I mean and also this has got to be their linebackers early in this game. I mean my god. Fill a run gap. Anybody i get it. That's probably the best offensive line and football and in. Cleveland is the best running backs in football. So i get it. It's a huge test. That early seventeen yards at run by the touchdown. That was embarrassing. I very rarely say this. Actually mean i could've run for that. I mean there was nobody touched. There was nobody within ten yards of him. The can't happen. There were two plays with the pilots getting pushed in the end. They won the game because the went on late. They made place and with this team. Let's face it with kansas city. That defense is judge. Zoff points not yards. I don't care how many yards give up if they hold teams to field goals. That forearms are gonna win the game and they did it. They did it. They forced return to turnovers plus on special teams. And then the big three and out. I wanna get to a few questions kind of tie into this show. I saw shoot a free fast. You know the more issues and just matthew clark. I totally agree. I totally now. I think some of the passing the fence issues are solved by those two guys. Because clark's second best pass rusher on the team and matthew's great player. I think some of those plays were like they were breaking down and coverage like the deep all that thornhill gave up like that doesn't happen with matthew in my opinion right or four less chance. That happens but i actually thought they really miss the athleticism speed willie. Gay has how many times are they beaten to the edge in this game at the second level. I'll.

"What's up addicts. Welcome to the first ever arrowhead addict chiefs post game show. I'm patrick i'm joined by my co host. The attic podcast. Matt verda ram. That was that was stressful. I took a couple of years off my life but the chiefs found a way to win. What's your initial reaction. I need to buy week. That's my already already look. It was a crazy game. there was a crazy game. You get down. And she's got down early twenty to ten the couldn't get a stop. The felt like my god. They couldn't get him to third down. It was just. It was incredible. But i think with the chiefs you always feel like they're in the games because they are always in the game. I think the super bowl the lone exception in the history of all they do not get blown out always around in cleveland. And we'll get into it. Cleveland made some big mistakes. The chiefs didn't and the final result. Is kansas city. Go going on in cleveland going. All my what i have to imagine is a very frustrating plane. Ride back to cleveland. Yeah tough tough loss for the browns. This one stinks probably almost as bad. Not quite but almost as bad as their playoff loss last year. We've got a lot of you guys in the chat on various platforms log in. Let us know your questions. What's up sherlock. What's upon our ad. jonathan Yeah what a game. Indeed patrick mahomes for the wind. But it wasn't just patrick mahomes and this one boy. There's so much to get to ring if some people a little bit more time to get in here it what point. I just let it is. We're talking broad. Big picture verte ram. At what point did you think. Oh god they've got a chance for a while. I never feel like she's out of it but the way the defense was playing was like it doesn't matter what we do we're behind. They're just gonna be able to stop them. I always felt that chance. I really did. Just because of the offense you just felt like well. I actually at one point said to myself if they could just 'cause turnover they'll get back in this game and the literally. The next play was when nixon fumbled the ball. So you know. I will say this. I think when the game turned from me thinking that a chance to be thinking like actually a very good chance to find a way to win was the bomb down the field. The hill the seventy five yarder because cleveland scores. It's twenty nine twenty. Its fourth quarter now the chiefs of course if timing often they do but when when mahomes hitch hell for that bomb it electrified the crowd. The crowds now into with the defense gets your new life. The offense is going. I think that was the moment. I felt like all right now now for the first time in the game the pressures on cleveland cleveland now has to respond and if you remember they immediately went three and out and then fumbled upon right. Harold who works does great work at fox in kansas city. Tweeted out a picture of the play by play and he. He took a picture of those five plays. Like here's the game and harrell's right on a those five plays to me. Swung it from. They could win the game two. They probably will find a way to win the game. It was incredible the way..

"Now we welcome in a very special guest to the program. Of course tony gonzales. You might have heard of him if you follow the nfl over the last twenty. Five years hall of fame tight end cancer cheese. And the atlanta falcons and tony on welcome to the pod and also want to get right into it i know you're working with tivo stream four k. As wanted to get your thoughts on why are working with yvo. And what makes this program. Something that people should check out. Well you know tivo from back in the day old school come out with a new four kate streaming where the best quality picture that you can get out there and it's got this great voice function where you can say. Just take me to the kansas city. Chief game we'll take them to the atlanta falcon game and it'll take you right there. Watch the game in high def four k. And then as soon as the game is over. I got four kids i can go straight to cinderella but my daughter wants to watch it or go straight to the latest movie by rock By the rock in it takes me right to it and so it just makes it convenient you get the best quality picture and then the price is twenty nine ninety nine he can get it on amazon or any other major retailer out there so it's It's just a great way. Take your your tv. Viewing experience convenience experience with with watching television to the next level or it's in the season starts on thursday. Who is your super bowl. Pick and why already told me kansas city atlanta. I won't say. I might say kids city but if you don't want to but i will say this an nfc. I think it's a no brainer. I don't see anybody beating the tampa. Bay buccaneers the only thing. That's gonna stop. That train is if somebody gets hurt. That's it and obviously the season-long so maybe that can happen but they i mean have everybody coming back. You got tom brady pulling the trigger. They got a year underneath their belt. Now with that offense and you saw what it did towards the end of the year last year. What do they end the season with scoring over thirty points. Last seventy games of the season gluten soup also and a hit on their draft picks. It looks like a so. They have another defense incoming off the edge to help here. I mean it goes on. And on i know. That's not the sexy pick. But i think we that dynasty is right. There and tom's going to go get his eighth superbowl bowl this year. And we plan. I could say the kansas city chiefs. And i do think it's gonna be the chiefs. They did what they needed to do. They went out and rebuilt that offensive line. And now now they have a top three offense of line in the nfl. And if you give. Patrick mahomes time tyreek hill travis kelsey. I just don't think it's too much just like they've been doing the last couple of years but my dark horses. I love the cleveland. Browns a loved the buffalo bills. I think baker mayfield will continue to get better as long as he can realize that. You don't have to talk as much. Go out there and play. I think he can be a great quarterback surrounded by such great town a great offensive line And i love what buffalo's been doing. I think they're poised to make a deep run. Pick up where they left off last year. The quarterback took a major step. Now he's one of the best league i like. I like what buffalo's opportunities are this ship. If you were a player in today's game with kobe going on and the protocols and everything else would you be pissed. The is marketing vaccinated. Because you feel like it's competitive disadvantage. Honestly yeah yup. I would vaccinated so i know this is a political a lot of people though too hot. Would you say it's a football thing. I mean it's it might be political on the outside world. But i think in the locker rooms. It's hey man don't cost me my money. Don't cost me a playoff bonus type thing. Yeah i'd be a little bit upset by. I beg wants you just get it come on. Let's go. We put a lot of other things in our bodies just to get out in the football field. I think it's safe and yeah i would. I would definitely want everybody on the team to get back in it. So we bought their football games and and for other reasons too. Yeah for sure. You played a long time in kansas city. Obviously the bulk of your hall of fame career was there now. They have another tight end. Who's putting up historic numbers year after year after year. New travis kelsey the pig who's the more dominant tight and you or him. Why don't we always get asked this question. Especially when we're together. They asked that question view. Well you know we do when they say. Who's the better tight end. We pointed each other. And that's what i. That's that's what. I love about us being so arrogant. It know what travis is is. He's phenomenal football player. dominant runs rate routes. I think we brought different things to the table You know obviously. I think what called from the position a lot more when i was there as yet the block and travis gets the luxury of not having to block as much especially when i had marty sean. I am addict per meal You'd better bunch of big boy pads on put your hand in the go block that be bitter linebacker where he doesn't have to do that too much. The rules have changed now. So he's going to be able to put up a lot. Bigger better numbers just like all the titans in the league because it obviously they want. Points and defenses are kind of handcuffed done. But i i love travis. I love my game. I love his game politically speaking were youtube and of course you choose or him but you know confidently begin. I like to say i was. I was pretty damn good. And when i got on the field i always thought i was the best. You can certainly make an argument that your career outside of jerry. Rice might be the most impressive pass catcher of all time. You're talking about fourteen pro bowls and i'm curious. You know your last season two thousand thirteen year pro bowler eighty-three catches eighty eight hundred. Fifty nine yards eight touchdowns. Why did you retire. I was i was done. Iran's course. I was thinking about retiring three years before that and so every year. That's in the back of your mind. Football's tough and the amount of energy that it takes mentally and physically. It's exhausting just to get through one season you. I know a lot of fans out there. Sometimes you look at the screen and you say well it. It looks pretty easy. It is not it is a mental and physical drain on yourself and your family and it's worth it. I'm not complaining about it. But i just ran. Its course from me and we were coming off of really disappointing season With with the with the falcons. And i didn't feel like going out there i was. I was in it just to win a super bowl at that point in i. Didn't i knew our chances. That kind of window had closed went to the nfc championship the year before. And then i came back on. I think we want to games. And it was flat out rebuild type mode and they did go to the superbowl bowl three years later in. I couldn't have hung on that long. And so i just decided to hang it up but i still get to be around football getting accommodate. So it's It's the best of both worlds will be lasting real quick ten seconds. If you had one year in your prime with patrick mahomes what would you style on at my peak. I think i would have been up there but that you know four dead. Thirteen hundred yards and stuff. Travers is doing the thirteen fourteen hundred yards. They can't touch you anymore. They can't hit you before they used to make your head before they used to jump on your back like a capuchin spider. Monkey down the field now. They can't even touch it. So i think for sure i would have put up some some pretty pretty nice numbers that those those thirteen fifteen touchdowns and thirteen fourteen hundred yards all right tony. Gonzalez working with pivo four k. Stream check it out for all your football needs and otherwise tony hall of famer. Thank you so much. Join the podcast. Show appreciate it thanks..

"Tout really i mean. If he was doing that on a team like the chiefs in primetime he'd become a household name like with that kind of campaign. Oh one hundred percent. i think jerry's does become a household name. I don't think it's a jalen ramsey type of situation. But marcus peters made a name for himself here and that was with a high volatility type of Know type of top style. You know all or nothing legitimate need. I don't wanna say is all or nothing. But he has more on the aggressive side. Yeah and he's not afraid to tackle so no he's not. He's echoing forum. Who do you got on the offensive side. I'm going to go. Joe tony and and I think this offensive line is going to be everything that people wanted to be. And i think in the end you gotta give it to one player and i you know everyone is either brand new or new to a position and i think by the season's end. We're gonna say joe. Tony has been about all the offensive lineman on that line are gonna go. It helps so much to have a proven anchor right in the interior to help. The young guys grow to help orlando brown. Make the transition to a different offense. He's been in that championship culture before and this line lost all their leader. So you know it just makes sense to me four for tuning to kinda the representative of that bunch And then on the defensive side. I think chris jones is gonna get fifteen plus sacks so when you do that on a team like the chiefs i have a hard time picking anyone else as very fair i. It's just. I can't argue kansas city though has so many guys to choose from. That's how you know they're so deep. I really like your joe tune pick. I wanted to pick some of the offense aligned. Because you know me. I think oh line makes more of a difference in the running back themselves..

"Didn't even try to run the holiday throwing down and i believe that that caught up in classrooms. Who they weren't going to run it. They had no line but tampa bay was able to tee off that she had no answer for it. And we can get insulated from. the gandhi. Should have changed the way they called that game regardless if they can teams are playing shakes. You have to run the ball now. I'm not saying you after like when you have to be able to have. Success gets that front two in the of not been able to. If kansas city can start to have success running against two high safeties you put teams any brutal spot. They either need to sit back and just get a thousand paper cuts to death or they've got to bring a safety up and if you know anything about people in the nfl eventually what's going to happen is a coordinator on the sideline. He's going to get sick and tired of giving up six hundred carry or sixers carry. They're going to say you know what we're bringing safety up. We're hagar chances. And that's when you hit hardman or hill from bombed down the field. And so i think the chiefs that has to be. Don't forget this offense since mahomes has been here. It looked the best. The year went to the championship game and lost. And they'd kareem hunt hunt left. They still been a great offense. But but that i that year two thousand eighteen. The i ten games or so. They were ridiculous. Nobody could stop them and it was because it could just run the ball. They put teens in ridiculously bad spots. I think that's going to be huge for them this season and they did run the ball and they did dump the boffa cream high and cream. Hot would do ridiculous things because he'd have all the space to work when he got the ball in the middle of the field. And i think that that's what we're going to see from clyde cloud later this year. That's why everybody keeps offering me crappy. Fantasy football trades forum on my fancy teams. And i tell them to go take a hike because between between the fact that i know that they've got to run the ball more and i know that they have a line that when they get down into the red zone on the goal line they might actually be able to run the ball. In for a touchdown. I think he could be a huge fantasy asset..

"But you don't be paying the league average right guard that amount of money especially have so many options already in house younger more talented options as well if any team wants. A trade for l. d. t. that actually helps alleviate some of the issues in kansas city. That helps make your decision much much easier injuring something back in return. I don't know if you waves that. No trade clause. If say it's the new york jets right. The does he want to go to the jets. Like probably not you know. That's why you have no trade clause so you don't go to bad teams. You could win to super bowl or you could go the jetson live there. I got a sounds miserable. Have you lived in new york. I think he's smart enough. He's a doctor. He just wanna pay eight grand a month to live in a shoebox like no so. It's a chance to start though. I mean that's the only thing actually play. You're gonna have to play that up when you when you pitch that to l. d. to your to have to pitch as so you're not gonna play here your backup. You may even be third-string at right guard right. You're just here because basically we can't we can't cut ya contracts to large. Yeah you almost have to play to play that way and then you say but you go to new york. "Know i. I have the role that i like. My whole career is because of the kansas city chiefs. I got into this. Because i love football and i love the kansas city chiefs in big sportsman. And i know it's been the same thing for you and it's changed our lives. You know your love the kansas city chiefs and and getting into sports and then working fans sided and moving to chicago and meeting your wife and having your daughter like those things. Don't happen without your love of the kansas city chiefs. Maybe maybe not exactly the way they have no well. I mean i'm sure most people who follow this podcast or at least reasonably familiar. But i i started my career. Even though at the time it started a career. It was just kind of an outlet to express my feelings and chief. I was posting as a fan is a fan Santos over at arrowhead. Pride on the estimation site and then joel thornton who you of course know as well Great guy who ran that site for many many years in our entire. Nfl division reached out. It was like hey. Would you like to right on the front page. You know for money in any one thing led to another. I did that for for years. Menchaca paid for it and then yet mccain. the fan sided and got a fulltime rolling and god knows look. If i'm writing about the vikings like am. I getting that fulltime role. I don't know mean you would know who i was. I doubt zach best. But because there'd be inside who started the company which g fans it worked out of course as everyone knows i'm sure can tell by my voice. I am not from kansas city. I'm from new york. And the only reason i choose fan is my dad who grew up in new jersey. I football game. You watch a super bowl for and all his friends in school. Were saying the vikings we're gonna crush the chiefs because they're in the nfl the afl. And my dad. Just wanted to be contrarian and he said i think you're gonna win ritchie. So he watched the game basically to know. If you're going to be mocked the next day at school nine year old achieve one. He fell in love with them stuck with them. When i was born i was born into it but i think about that a lot like what happens if the vikings win that game. My life's wholly different. My daughter doesn't exist. I'm not married to my all all because of one game. January of nineteen seventy. Yeah it's absolutely incredible. And that's what this whole company that we worked for fan sided is about it's about celebrating fandom. And what makes it special and there's a lot of there can be some ugliness and phantom just like there can be in in any other area of life. But i think it's great to be passionate about something and infrared to have meaning to you and to create memories for you that some of the memories that we've had as as chief's fan. "And i think that's the key. The browns baker has to continue to ascend. He has to be better than he was last year. And if he's if he is if he takes that josh allen leap then yeah they could win twelve thirteen fourteen games. Maybe they're that talented. I'm going to go with. I'm gonna go ahead and give them contender because all my reservations are based on gut feeling and just like also probably just like not trusting the browns to win two years in a row. The second team i wanted to hit and they bet around for a while now but they're stuck behind the proverbial Hump is the tennessee. Titans tannahill still has a lot of detractors in haters despite what he's been doing if you look at the actual numbers. Derrick henry is a monster but much like the ravens. This is a team. That just can't seem to get over the hump and maybe that hump for all of these teams unfairly is the kansas city chiefs. That is just there good teams but they're just not. It's not going to happen as long as patrick. Mom's real ruling the afc most years. What is your take on the titans. Yeah i i liked the titans. I i really think the titans are contender. Campy talked off that ledge. And i think both teams that you bring up are going to be helped. By the fact that i think both divisions are gonna be weaker than they've ever been in recent years so like with the shawn watson when the texans were like completely falling apart you know they were winning the division. The colds always play tough. The titans always play tough. And then you have an also ran in the jags. I think. Trevor lawrence is going to be good for the jags. I think there's promised there for the first time in years but they're not continuing this year. The texans are maybe the worst team we've seen their expansion team at this point And the colds. I mean gosh. if you've already lost your best player quick nelson for the first few weeks of carson wentz. Willie won't be if you believe that. that's fine. i like chris ballard. I like what he's done in. The i think he's built a good team and a deep team overall. But they're not on the level of the titans. The titans have picked the right time to lean in with a bunch of veterans smart coach. Their deep where it matters in the trenches I if they don't go five and one or six zero in their own division..

"Yeah and and it's it makes things easier when you have a mobile quarterback mahomes who can move. Who can escape pressure and all the other weapons that kansas city has right and add to that the play call and creativity of andy. Reid you just want to try to keep these guys from getting the red zone in the first place. I think all the chiefs if you're going to be kansas city. It always comes down to well. First and foremost you gotta get fresh. Mom's okay but beyond that you have to play wall. Situation can't city field on third. Then you've got to be able to convey your third dance. you probably have to win the special teams game. I'll be break even and then in the red zone. You absolutely have to win if you can't win that you now the chiefs last year before. The chargers game where they play their backups. The cheese went fourteen in one last season against a very very hard schedule and the worst red on defense in football league. Think about how much better than they are. If this year they're middle of the road defensively in the red zone and offensively they just stay in the top. Ten didn't lose they lose. I'm not getting into the whole twenty thing. I know it's been kind of talking point. But i really do think genuinely. If they're healthy they could go fifteen to sixteen in one like i. I generally feel that way and you will get their schedule. They're not going to be an underdog in any game the season unless they have injuries. they're healthy. There's not an underdog in any game this season. I know the early lines the only game that they weren't favored. It was a pick them at baltimore. And i gotta tell you. Good luck finding somebody who's picking baltimore that game after the way. Those two teams played over the last four years. I wouldn't want to be on that side of it will last year and they've played each other and twee jackson drove one hundred yards in the game. So if you're a fan.

"They have the yelm center. They have the infrastructure. I think kansas city in louisville. They make a lot of sense. Nba expands. i think that's gonna be the biggest competition i know. People don't really enjoy talking about this. A lot they elected canas is the best. And i personally think it is but to act like there's not other competition especially if they do extend by two teams especially they wanna do western inference western and eastern conference to make it more easy. Go and going forward as far as travel louisville is going to be. Kennedy's city's biggest competition. Yeah that's a good thought there. Right louisville louisville's a great basketball town. Kentucky's a great basketball state. Just south of indiana. Which is obviously you know hoosiers. So there's a great basketball region here but that would be close to the pacers. You know you've got. I don't know we'll see how that would go. Let me ask you this because this is not a basketball podcast. I'd.

"I think that was more of a lottery ticket. Like hey look if we can make that work great. If we can't find he has not been good minnesota in the early going his for three years. Baker was not great new york his rookie season. He's played one year only played on any of the legal issues last year. He like when they brought him and that was that was not as like. Hey he's a lottery ticket that my understanding when they signed him was look. We believe that this is going to be able to compete next year in training camp for a job now of course he ends up breaking his leg will see how is coming to start a camp but he's somebody that there was no look this kid. This kid can really play high on him. Come into the draft. The whole deal ends are going to giant so while hughes i do think they view is like hey we can fix him. Great if not so be it with baker. I think there's more of an expectation like no no. No we we play. And if he's healthy we expected so he is the wildcard nacro if they're achieved bring him in the summer can work with him for a full training camp and they're right and he ends up being a real good player then letting go makes more sense if you're wrong about baker or he just can't hack it 'cause he's hurt right now then you you might be thinking about adding the guy the end to camp right and that may be part of these. Two guys are good. That always happens. You know. I know. I know the fans out there right now screen. But what about. Richard sherman or even legal troubles aside. He's a cover three quarter. That's what he's done his whole career to ask him to come into kansas city scheme and play a ton of man i think is a bad idea. I do not think that would work out. Well we saw sherman. What i wanna walk the super bowl right. I'm not look germs. The hall of fame player. I'm not saying he couldn't us but at this stage in his career. I do not think him plant a lot of man. Impressed man is great. Yeah agreed and i was going to make the point that you just made which is player movement is not over. There are what ninety guys on the roster is right now something like that and and as as we get into training camp this always happens. There's always some surprise cuts. There's always some veterans who can still play. They end up being capped casualties because a team draft the young guy in there looking at them. And they're like you know what let's get this guy in here you know and and teams are in different places. They're not all were. Kansas city is kansas city. At this stage is is trying to find a mix. Young guys and veterans are gonna value may be some veteran leadership some depth there are some younger teams out. There are teams that no. They're not going to contend this year and they're looking at the roster and they're like look where pan this guy. He's old right like let's we're not going to win the super bowl this year. Let's just get brushed young guy..

"Who certainly know the defense who can play rebound oga. Ford does not have the high. Upside of melvin ingram. But he's a solid with. You could do worse than having alex. Okafor's a guy who comes in and plays you know half your snaps so i do think that she's got to cover themselves. And this part on this kind of editorializing on maybe that she's looked at it and say we'd really like getting them and if we can open up the cash face to do so comfortably we will. If we can't we know we've got okafor on the back burner. i still more peeve. Frankly the i. I think losing shot was insane. The amount of money that he was going to call us and ended up costing minnesota. I don't get that like to me. He's the kind of guy considering their positional need value. I would have just said look. I don't care. We need to get that gun. Take care of business. Those two sides had a good relationship after he signed minnesota flat out said. I thought i was going to kansas city so it wasn't like it wasn't like jason have interest in did they just didn't bring him back and i i think with the edge we jones kicking outside. You bring back oakland for. I like my dan a lot more. Maybe than some others. I think he's a pretty good rotational kid and he got taco charlton. Frank clark. of course. I think the chiefs will be okay there if jones stays outside now. He doesn't then. I think there is a significant hole. There but i think that was kind of the plan and they shine gironde read. We're going to give jones a of snaps at there. I'm more worried about corner. I love snead. And i really liked ward is a solid to like live with various award You're one injury away from major issues there. A you better if you ask me other than like injury mahomes or kelsey your health. What is the biggest way you see. This season getting derailed. That's out.

"I think it's good. I think it's character building stuff. No nothing to get upset or worried about mahomes making that comment. I don't think he's he's getting a big header or anything like that. Just a just john with some fans which i mean. If you see my twitter you know i. I like to to do a little bit. Trolling on occasion. What did i post the other day. That oh i pose that. "I'd say that pretty low and that's a pretty significant knock against them. Now the one thing i noticed and this actually once i noticed this along with another aspect i started to think to myself okay. Maybe it's worth giving ago so the first thing is apparently reportedly he's been doing tests for the last three months and he's passed them all now that could mean absolutely nothing like he obviously has to pass those tests to get reinstated but it is the off-season and he's shown some dedication you know. At least it seems to kind of stay clean and things like that. So i'd say that's a positive but the biggest thing i noticed this actually really kind of shocked me. He has averaged in his career. Seventeen point two yards per reception. And you know. I saw that. And i was like wow like. Even in the seasons where he wasn't a huge factor in the offense all of his catches were averaging out to these huge yards per cast. And so something like that. Kinda got me thinking. I looked a little bit more and his production over the three seasons that we talked about and he is again. Averaging about five hundred yards per season playing about nine games and so long story short. I would say as they can't body in potential roster spot if he wants to come play for the chiefs if it's the thing where he is really open to the idea of playing for team like cheese contending champion and at least being cleaned for enough time for the to evaluate him. I don't really see a huge downside to simply bringing him in now. You know we can talk a little bit more about nikiel hairy and the wide receiver room After this but that's kinda my thoughts where where do you fall on that Situation i would be a huge fan of bringing him in judge gordon. That is at least seeing what he can do because he's only thirty. I know that's pretty old for football but that's not extremely old for wide receiver right. I think they're still obviously a lot of talent. He's not been banged up. It's been the wheat. It's not like a guy who was perpetually injured right. it's not a guy who's been able to stand there because of injuries because of well smoking though we'd we know patrick mahomes stands on that as we saw this chakari. Richardson how he seems to be all for let him go. The nfl's getting a lot less strict when it comes to marijuana so i think that also goes and josh gordon's favor you know. The talents undeniable. kansas city. They've dealt with a lot of distractions on this team recently. Britt reid obviously the whole tyreek hill. Saga that was another distraction. Do they want to bring in another distraction. Because it's not act like judge gordon's here and we're everyone's going to say all right. Let's forget about his past and move on the media is we're gonna ask we're good to go. I mean andy. Reid is going to have extra questions. The entire team and organization going to have to answer extra questions. Do they want to bring that. In on top of that my main i would say positive. Here is kansas city. Seemed to be very adept at this. They seem to have a very good organizational structure to where they can handle. And it's not going to bother them. They can afford to absorb the adversity and the distractions and they're still going to make it to the super bowl. If there is a team that can handle this. I think came to city. Is it tyrod matthew. Patrick mahomes the leaders on this team. They're gonna they're gonna sit judge gordon down and say you know what you're not smoking here. I pal like i get it smoke in the off season..

"Why is nobody talking about one thornhill. I am irritated by this because one thorn obviously had a phenomenal rookie season the whole. Aca are acl der. He took a long time to get back to where he was but we saw the end of last year. We're like oh my gosh. She's back even better. It looks like his growth is going to be something to watch. I really think one thornhill has a long long phenomenal career in kansas city. And i think we need to start giving him more credit. We always talk about chris jones entire matthew. And hell we talk about frank clark more than we talk about. Someone who i think is being productive in one thornhill. So i one icu. We'd pay attention when i see. Yeah i think you're right. I think that's one of the underrated subplots of this defense in terms of like it does take time to come back. I mean the chiefs put him on the field quickly and then kinda took them off for a wild gave was like stealing snaps from one thorn on like oh great is always ideal and then all of a sudden we see him. Start working back in more and were. You're like okay. Kansas city who would have thought it team that won a super bowl in lost. Another one knows what they're doing but apparently they do. I think you're totally right. I'm excited for the safety tandem. Matthew for a few years him and thornhill together growing And and commanding the back end of that defense is really really exciting with spags at the helm to me and just throw in for me to various ward luxurious need and potentially deondraye baker. And you have a really young core outside of town matthew. He's abo veteran guy. But you have a young core of guys who can build in grow together kind of like we saw in seattle. We saw with denver for a little bit. Like this is what you want you want to. These young guys grow. Get comfortable with each other. You know each other's tendencies just to me. This seems really promising. Thank you guys so much for listening. This was the arrowhead added. podcast. I am strolling homes. That is matt conner until next time. Be safe have fun. "Let's talk. julio jones my friend. Because i mean look it's a long shot i'm going to say it oddsmakers think it's a long shot. The chiefs are thirty. Three to one odds to land. Julio jones in a trade which is way longer odds than many many other teams. So las vegas does not think. Julio jones is going to land in kansas city but julio jones is gonna land somewhere and it sounds like it's not in philadelphia this year. Where are you at all this. I'll say this vegas didn't think phil mickelson was going to win this as last major. Guess what a that happened. So i don't know where julio jones is gonna land. I do think. Kansas city actually makes sense. I'm surprised vegas hasn't bumped it up a little bit as based on the past knowledge of how aggressive brett. Vh is the fact that julio jones said he wants to play for a winner he wants to play for a contender. You sit basically said give me the hell out of atlanta. You know <hes>. If you wanna play for winter you wanna play for a contender. You wanna play for a good quarterback now you kate. A city checks all those boxes. You have a hall of fame coach. Andy reid i would. I would think that those numbers would be higher. What are your thoughts on this. Well let me kick it back to you with this. Albert breer reported today that basically that would probably take second round. Pick to get julio jones. Now that's it like. I think it sounds good on paper. Yeah i think it sounds good on paper to julio jones. i'm probably in the conservative camp of. I think the chiefs are already more loaded than any other team out there. They've already gotten their the last two years. I don't care what the bills in the browns have done. The chiefs are gonna make mincemeat of them. Whatever they play so. I don't know that we need julio jones so so you know to me. I'd rather keep that second round pick
