New Mexico is first state to elect all women of color to the House
"There's a historic first last night David, including the election of LGBT Q politicians, Delaware elected the first openly trance state senator in the country, Sarah McBride In Kansas, Stephanie buyers became the first openly transgender person ever elected to the Kansas State House and the first openly trans person of color ever elected to the state Legislature in the US, Cory Bush became the first black woman Elected to Congress from Missouri. Richie Tour is here in New York. He became the nation's first openly gay black congressman. The entire New Mexico House delegation is now made up of women of color. So you know, Tio, some of our colors, points about like, how in a pink Pepsi on Twitter about how could be so close? How could trump be re elected? I mean, Should we be thinking about the country's a little more purple than red and blue? I think so. I think that's a huge takeaway here, and that's certainly what we've been hearing kind of going into the rights and Georgia, for instance, like we talked about the purple in Georgia for for a long time now, But no, I think that you know you you bring up those examples and they're so important and they're so positive because that kind of representation matters and it's so important and should inspire others to get into politics. You know, I, um I hope that that catches fire and we see that more places across the country, but I was just struck. You were listening Those names just how they're not confined to a small set of states. That really was something that's happening more broadly. I think that A lesson from this campaign. The last couple of campaigns is how kind of hard work politics on the part of unknown candidates or underdog candidates can really pay off. We certainly thought that in New York City last cycle with Alexandra Cozzi Cortez winning that surprise victory. I mean, that was kind of thing that lit the fire for so many of the other. Often more progressive candidates to do well in yes State House races in Congress races across the country, So I think that you're right and picking up on the trend here and count me among the hopeful who think that it's going to be the start of a of a longer trend yet.

I'm Scared to Invest in Real Estate in a College Town Right Now
"Anthony is in Kansas City High Anthony. Welcome to the Dave. Ramsey show. Hi doing great. How can I help? I have about a half million dollars in my checking account and I have had it in there for a couple of years I'm trying to figure out exactly what to do with it. My plan was to use it for real estate. But the real estate market got me a little spooked right now while or. we live in a college shirt close to a college town and. the market there they've built so many brand new complexes in the last. Ten Years Nobody's going to college. Okay. I'm with you exactly the enrollment rates are going down you know so I'm a little bit Leery of that. So what town are you at all? I'm Manhattan. Kansas Yeah, okay All right yes. You're far enough away from Kansas City that you're probably not investing in. Kansas City. Correct okay, Anthony holder you. I'm forty five. Okay. You've done a great job. Yeah. Are you planning to stay Manhattan. That depends don't necessarily need to have a hobby farm. I'm I'm an electrical contractor by trade. But my my real estate holdings I have a couple of rental properties to, but I have about a million and a half in real estate that's all paid for. about one, hundred, thousand in cash five, hundred, thousand in my checking. about four, hundred, thousand other assets like. Crack loaders tractors. You're. A. Stud. Done. So proud of you. It's got to feel great man really did it and I'm assuming you did all this start assuming you to all the starting from nothing. For nothing inherited nothing way to go well, here's what I would do if I, woke up in your shoes and I find myself in similar situations from time to time. I'm between real estate deals and I need access to the cash when I get ready to do the next real estate deal. That's where I find myself. It's where you find yourself because you're not going to drop that half million in Manhattan you've made that decision. I'm not going to recommend if you've listened to me for more twenty minutes, you know this to be a long distance landlord. and. So what I'm GonNa end up doing is just parking this probably in like an S. and P. Five hundred. you know a no load fund there's no commissions and just ride the market with it a little bit while I'm waiting to decide what I'm GONNA do. and. One of two things will happen. One of three things will happen. You decide to stay in Manhattan and the market get soft as you predict. So you will not pull that money out in buying Manhattan. So you're probably going to turn and invest in some other vehicle for probably some mutual fund or something number. Two thing that could happen as you move and you're living in whatever Kansas City and you got a great market to invest in. Then, you pull the money out and you invest it then what was the third thing that could happen. The third thing could happen would be Manhattan back the college market firms back up and you feel good about investing in Manhattan again, pull the money out there s and P and invest go so your parking it until something else moves another variable moves in the situation. But checking accounts not okay. Yeah. I realize that it's been but you know how it is Kinda fly. And I'm sure your bank is reaching out blowing up your phone with all their ideas and thoughts. Real helpful now. Drysdale's on the line. There's a saw ball mister guides deals on the line. There's a fourth option you may begin to look at something that gets to be on sale where you've got someone that has to sell or is looking to sell, and now you've put yourself in a situation to start to have some conversations about potentially buying that that could happen as the market. In Manhattan that's right. that somebody couldn't quite survived the turn and it's making an upward turn and you're comfortable with it that could result in a really good for a great deal. Yeah. That's that's a very, very good point. Dr. John Loney is. One of three, thirty, two degrees he's got he's got more degrees than a thermometer is in higher. Ed. And he's talked about with you and I and a bunch of US behind the scenes and even some what on the air The to the extent that. Because of the student loan debacle and because covert scenario by home, they realized These colleges are trying to charge just as much sitting at home I'm not getting like the college experience. I don't see any ivy on the walls here at my house. So to those two things hitting together are accelerating p the demand for college degrees. On campus living college degrees, they're accelerating that demand dropping right been dropping. Student loan the covert thing is pushed it over the edge. So, we are seeing some things like he's describing a college town like Manhattan, which is what Kansas State. Of Kansas, state and So you know we're seeing so many smaller towns where the economy's driven by resoluteness. Affecting their economies it really is a lot of those around America.

We were playing good ball, just not great ball and had some No chances to separate against a good team on the road, which you know when you're a great team. You take advantage of those and we were not quite area and came down the back and forth game. You know, a couple places we didn't make. You know some of the key plays. I mean, seven kicks in those field goals that we dropped two for sure Touchdown passes, You know, That certainly hurts really did a good job against the run game in the first half. We didn't do a very good job against Hall in the second half of a couple key penalties, and then you know, the biggest single play was probably the kickoff return just because we had so much Well, minimum after the turnover and touch down, you know, that was a that was a huge individual play. Former Kansas State president Jon Wefald on college football amid pandemic
"Dr John We follow the former president at at Kansas state. Thanks for spending a few more minutes with a doctor. I wanted to ask you you mentioned. Where the college presidents are, but but some have pushed back and said while it wall. It is a dangerous decision to green light at cancelling. It might be even worse when you consider the financial risk You've sat in those chairs. You sat these NCWA committee meetings. You've been part of negotiations. What's at risk for college athletic departments and colleges themselves? Paul I'm already there because there's not going GonNa be a college football season this year, so I mean. Look at the the big ten's already canceled. But forty two games the the PAC twelve is canceled like thirty six. So and in the presence are are are in charge of the entire university. So you know when I hear Ross talking. I understand completely. He's got every scenario looked at. But, even if everything's perfect there and you get a multitude of students getting the covid nineteen, the president's are going to call the season off, but here's the deal I'm already. Looking at the consequences, and and they are bleak. the University of Minnesota did A. Long Study and was in the Minneapolis Tribune. Let's say they're athlete budgets one hundred, twenty three. And if there's no football season for Minnesota and the big ten. Their athletic budget, just kind of in half and say for. Let's say the sixty five power five schools. Paul. There's no football this year. Their athletes budgets are close to cut in half, and in some cases more in some cases less. But will you saw Stanford I mean Look Stanford is one of the richest universities one of the best universities in the world, and they've already cancelled eleven, so called Olympic Spring Sports and. You're going to see other schools in the power five conferences eliminating. Those sports left and right here in the near future, because they won't be able to afford like at the University of Minnesota if they go from one hundred, twenty, three, million and that budget's cut in half. They're GONNA have to start eliminating sport, so it's going to be devastating. Who wants to eliminate sports? But here you've got this great school. Stanford that's already eliminated eleven, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. And so for Kansas, state. Let's say our budget is like eighty five million well, it would go down to thirty eight to forty million, so we would have to cut sports to. So the consequences of the limited, he's coaches and telling teams We just can't afford anymore and their moms and dads are furious. No it's GonNa be very painful. And Athletic Departments Are Really important all of our schools and. And you know if you lose half your budget because of this pandemic call covid nineteen. Oh i. tell you what it is. It is GONNA be so devastating Paul I hate to think about it because you know once that college football season half the budget for most of these half-baked departments. It's gone into the night. Actually, we feel. Let me go back. Something I I know you've answered it and I don't mean to be repetitive, but. Okay, but we talked to people and you've. You've addressed one or two of the interviews and. I'm struggling because there's such a disconnect I'm talking to people every day. I had commissioner on from another conference earlier and they're optimistic. Glass half full and all this, and then you're. You're not even. You're not even taking a breath and just saying there's not going to be college football. The same thing you seven months ago and I'm I'm trying to figure out you know. If what you say is true. Why are they saying with? They're saying. Well. I suppose you could call wishful thinking. I'm a quintessential. I'd be doing the same thing Paul was. president or Director today. So I I, would all the I mean I'd be doing exactly what you're saying. They're saying. If you're not sure you don't think they really believe it. Well I. Don't think they've really looked at it. Seriously I don't think I think. Really. Underestimating is enemy called Cova nineteen. It's everywhere in in some cases in America is on the uptick, and it's had an increase that you know a lot of places are. Kind of dangerous to go. But you know I see. Here's the deal this covert nineteen. Let's say here. We have sixty five universities. In, hundreds of athletes and coaches that wanted to do a perfect job and start the season on September fifth and go through twelve games, and so forth in the problem is. They're not in control. This is an enemy. That's everywhere. Kind of little communist, running all over the place from China. And so they could just wake up one day and find out that three hundred fifty students at Kansas state have developed covid nineteen.
K-State players announce boycott after student's Floyd tweet
"Kansas State. Football. The players will not plaque the plaque to. Play or practice or even meet. Until a student at the university. Who tweeted? Something is thrown out of school. Feel it as best for us to stand with the students. We are demanding that Kansas State University put a awesome place that allows a student to me, dismissed for displaying openly racist, threatening disrespectful action toward a student or groups of students. We have resolved that we cannot play practice or meet until these demands are heard and actions taken. We Love Kansas State, but we must stand together and protect all students moving forward. So. That comes from a tweet posted by a student named Jaden McNeil. And the tweet is no longer available. It has been yanked, and his account has been yanked, but it mocked the death of George Floyd. And you wouldn't think people would mock anybody getting killed in any situation, but obviously to mock something like that in these times is just not even to say out of left field is just insane. And so Kansas State has released a statement about the football boycott. The statement, said quote K. State Athletics along with President Richard Myers and university leadership respect and support our student athletes and standing up in the fight against racism at K. State. We are a family, and we will work together to make our campus community and even better place to call home. and. So multiple case day football players have. Talked about how they. are going to be boycotting and Chris Climbing. Is just starting his second year there. He put out a statement. Our Program on our coaches will continue to be part of the solution when it comes to racial. And Justice. They meant racial injustice. I love our players and they know I have their backs. The Gene Taylor chimed in. Recent tweets from case day student. Downplaying the black lives matter effort and the tragic and senseless death of George Floyd are disgusting and totally inappropriate and not reflective. Of who we are as university or our athletic department. They are not reflective of our administration and goals. We are committed to listening and supporting our black athletes, black students and members of our black community, and taking positive steps in the matter of social justice racism. So then CBS, CBS sports reached out. To the students. And Chris Climate reply to CBS. Racism is all caps not welcome a state now in the future and off the field as family. We make a difference to our. Action, I am excited help every player unite for the solution all caps now so that we can come together stronger than ever. Black lives matter as he put it.

Men's college basketball has been having a pretty weird season. Can you explain to us sort of the state of things and why some of the usually omnipresent contenders your dukes your? Unc's Kentucky aren't even in the top five while it's a meeting in a year like this anybody who tells you that they know exactly what's going to happen in March. They're lying because there was no one no expert. That understands kind of what's happened so far. It's just been a wild year but I think you can look at some of the things that transpired Really at the start of the season. I think the James Wiseman suspension by the answer. Aa For twelve games after being ruled ineligible. You have a Memphis team that I think had a chance to be much better if he sticks around. Lamelo ball who if he follows the traditional track and goes to a UCLA USC that changes the spotlight on those programs as well But instead you have a lot of the blue blood teams that don't have the lottery level talent that they had a year ago. Duke is still a top ten level team but they don't have anyone close To a Zaylon you'd have a team like Gonzaga that had to lottery picks last year. They got some good players. Nothing like that so the the powerhouse teams are just really good team which has closed the gap so now a San Diego State with the Malachi Flint and against double team Malachi for three huge three by malachite lend. That's a really good team. Competing for number one see the Dayton with an ob top suddenly was one of the best teams in America. And I think it's because you just don't have the same concentration of talent we're accustomed to seeing with your Kentucky's in Dukes. Then you'RE K. Use Marin what is it like covering a season like this where there are really clear favorites and no one seems to have any idea. What's going on this year? You just don't really know who to chase like. You don't know who to say okay. That's the team to watch. Because they're really good. It just feels like a pretty fragile college basketball scene which is great for the tournament for everything. We didn't have in college basketball this year in terms of no established kind of powerhouse team. I think we're going to see the benefits of it. Come into double A. Tournament. Time when we could have one of the craziest craziest. March madness is we've ever had so. Let's talk about Duke. Quit even when dukes not great? We're still going to talk about Dick. Because it's really interesting. Myron how much struggled on Saturday they lost to Virginia Virginia wins. That look the three point line. Just couldn't connect before that game. They were ranked seventh. But I imagine they could go down even further now right. Yeah I mean this is a team that I think will will fall in the rankings. Duke has run into some teams who put on their Superman capes in the last couple of games. And that's change things you have. Nc State which made sixty one percent of its threes and that loss A week ago wake forest mixed fifty four percent of its threes. These things those teams had done before they phase Duke and Virginia really as just a team on the rise So I think duke got caught in kind of a weird gauntlet there but trae Jones has been sort of their closer whereas a year ago you could go to RJ bear. You could go to Cam Reddish you could go on. And now they're a bit more one dimensional They're much closer to what you see. Maybe in a typical season where they're right there with Louisville and Florida state and Virginia and the other teams at the top of the ACC. But they don't have a guy who's GonNa carry them to the top of the League and just help them separate. That's just not enough talent in college basketball for really any team to do that. But especially in the league like the Agency. So you're in Kansas right now in Kansas. The number one team. You were there to watch them. Play Kansas State and it was a right because these two teams Fighting literally fighting back in January Shit and now the benches inc just unnecessary. That's not good. This is Paul. This is bad this is but on Saturday night myron. They shook hands before the tip off in. Kansas came away with the victory. What did you make of the number team in their performance? Well I I'm just glad nobody fought again because that that would have been bad Glad to have that moment before the game I will say. I've never been to a regular basketball game outside of the NCAA tournament that had as much security as that game. Had I mean they were everywhere about? I'm glad there was an incident. I I think Kansas is sort of the perfect team in a year like this. Do they have a lottery pick? No but they've got this really balanced group of guys who are pretty good offensively. They've been pretty efficient team and they got two guys who win they're together. They're hard to stop. It's Dotson In Gaza Buki who when they're on the floor together. Kansas made about sixty percent of his shots inside the art. Their opponents have made about forty one percent of their shots inside the three point line. That's the story right there when those two guys are together. Kansas is certainly the best team in America. But you also look at them and go. Are they one bad night from Abu? Koa from struggling. He was hurt part of the game on Saturday against the bad Kansas state team boss feeds it in bounced past as a group. Six to shoot you back down spits travels this is the shot ultimately but he rolled his ankle. Oh this is good has approved. He is clutching his right foot so Kansas is good. But like a lot of teams there. One bad moment badge stretch away from being right there with everybody else. Well now. It seems like Kansas is going to run away with the big twelve after Baylor who was ranked number two going into the weekend got upset by. Tcu How bad was this for Baylor? It's always interesting right. Like Baylor won every game but one for like two months straight and now all of a sudden last week I think a lot of people are panicking and that happens to a team. Like Baylor which doesn't have the brand recognition of Duke or Kentucky or a Kansas. So in hard times. I think we may be overemphasized Some of their struggles. I think you obviously don't want to continue losing and losing to a team like Tcu is not good For them but this is a team that again played a tissue team that did things that they haven't done in the past made forty five percent of the threes on Saturday against Baylor. They made thirty three percent of their shots from three point. Line before that so that can be more of an anomaly. I think Baylor overall though is one of the best defensive teams in America made the best defensive team not named Kansas. So that's GONNA keep them in every game that they play well one team. That's right up there with Kansas and Baylor is Gonzaga perennial contenders They did lose to. Byu about a week ago but they're still considered favorites to win the WCTC. How good is this Gonzaga team? I think they're really really good me now like I think they're amazing. I just think this is a year where because everyone has been sort of even you get one loss and all of a sudden. Gonzaga gets the whole. You haven't played anybody. And why are you losing you know in the West Coast Conference and I think that's unfair? Byu was a really good team like Byu's go into selection Sunday with maybe a five or six seed. Maybe even better so. There's nothing wrong with losing a road game in that environment to a good team. They have the number one offense in America a flea Petra. Sav is one of the best young players Indian tire country. We would know what mark few the head coach can do. And they've got two losses all year. I think that is one of the best teams in America and I think will prove it wants double a. Tournament starts so most of the rankings have some combination of Kansas Baylor in Gonzaga in the top. Three we'll see how this weekend changes that but after that myron gets pretty interesting. I'm you've got Dayton San Diego state. Did you see that coming up before the season began out like I wish I could lie and say I did? I wish I could be that dude. It was like yeah. I called San Diego State back in October in Dayton. But I didn't I mean like ob top and a Dayton is suddenly this lottery pig. And I don't think anybody saw that Common Dayton on Friday against Davidson Mia. Think about this number. They may ninety six percent of their shots inside the three point. Line Ninety six percent like I don't care if you're playing a high school junior Varsity Team. That's really difficult to do in Dayton. Did that and not only did they do it. They've been doing it Throughout the season just really inefficient offensive team in San Diego State. A team that lost its first game about a week and a half ago. The they've been role as well in their line of people who will say San Diego State doesn't play the competition that the other top teams have faced in college basketball. That's not true. They beat the. Byu Team that just beacons Aga- they beat Creighton. Which I think is the surprise of college basketball naked win at all by thirty one points and they beat Iowa another solid team another Aa tournament team by ten points so the best teams that were thrown at San Diego State. They won those games now. They did lose the UNLV Week ago but beyond that there have been a really really good team and I think in a year like this again. You're not going to run into a team with two lottery. Picks it feels like they can make Iran as well both San Diego state ending

"Here on the west coast. We just got down watching Michigan State lose in assembly hall There's a game before that that We don't really need to talk about What is that again marquette? It's I do not recall. Should I do it now so we just get it out of the way a lot of people. I let me say this a lot more said we had our first show Fox. And we're very excited to be here and people were saying they're talking bad about college basketball. They aren't excited about the sport. It must be because I love what you do. Lots of people as your mom and dad in my family members my down yeah. They're all saying that we don't WanNa talk about it because our teams are bad North Carolina's not great. They just lost in double overtime to Virginia Tech Ohio State Lost Yo. Yeah I'M GONNA put my hand up and say you're absolutely right when he was in. I was like this is the greatest season ever and now we're horrible. I'm like the season sucks. We don't need to talk it we. We don't even like twenty. I think I'm not gonNA apologize because every fans that way every single person that's accusing that of like if you're saying you're state fan you're like this season degree. What are you talking? What about you know damn well? The wheels fall off. You're going to be like never mind. It changed my mind. This sucks. Yeah I've officially Ashley hit the panic button. how's nate. It's official so I don't know if anyone's keeping score at home if you don't have a button for you but I think the last couple of weeks I've been just trying to like ignore it. I've I'm just brushing it under the rug trusting that something will figure we'll figure it out but losing minute. There's there's no shame in losing two minutes this Minnesota team like they're obviously not great. There were kind kind of a bubble team right now but like they're they're going they're probably GonNa make the tournament right. I don't know it's not like it's not like you lost the northwestern or whatever but Ohio state already lost at Minnesota. And we've lost. God knows how many games in a row at this point. I think we've like one and six in our last seven since we're since you and I saw housed Kentucky Vegas and coach Cal. Said this is the best team in the country country and right to my yes he looked at me and said Ohio State is the best team about Kris almoner being chummy in the post game interview asking him. Do you have a message for the haters. And all of this is happening house status since then in the one win is versus Nebraska at home But I I was just I was just thinking you know just the start of conference. Play upsets happened happened. They're figuring it out. The loss of Minnesota interrupt itself is not bad. But when you've lost that many games and you've already lost Minnesota so you like you're going into this game knowing Minnesota's already beaten you. You can't get swept by Minnesota you can't you gotTa Win One of these Games to get the season back on track and we still lose the Minnesota Marcus car. I don't know who this guy is. I knew boom from the first game. I tried to block him out of my mind. I don't know where he came from the car family as a whole yes all face car. Last I'm thirty five any always a problem. Cars is GonNa come where it's going to be the quarterback scheme staying ruined the program at some point. Oh Oh it's ridiculous to me. This was a must win. It was also a can't lose and and neither one of those things happened with Ohio state. I'm officially smashing the panic button. I think we could miss the tournament. I think there's turmoil in the locker room. I don't know what's happening. My Hair's falling out cancel the season. The forties thing about college college basketball is that every team for whatever reason seems to have a panic button every program is like ready to hit it. Oh Yeah and what I ask is what who's panic button in the studio by the way who comes when you hit the panic button when you call nine one. Obviously you know ambulance cops. Whoever may be but when you didn't panic button in college basketball is it to get an underwood coach? You ought to fix things. Or it's just a declaration that you can no longer. We don't care what I'm saying is I don't care what I'm what I'm telling the world is that you can no longer roast me on twitter when my team loses because I'm already roasting myself. I've already hit the panic button. I'm hitting you Jack. Button were losers this year. It's over so so don't tweet to me. Stop tweet enemy yeah. That's that's what the panic button is. I think I duNno Chris Oltman in Ohio Book. They forgot the one rule. Vegas which is whatever happens. The biggest had sustained vegas. Yeah something happened. What happened? Was One good basketball. Played stated something happened guess. What happened is Ohio state really very very well? I'M GONNA blame coach Holdman we love. We're GONNA BLAME VEGAS Ohio. y'All take your team to Vegas. dwayne Washington was suspended. Luther Mahama says there's or something going on the locker I don't I don't like I don't like to keep blaming You know about four hours to the west of Columbus Ohio. Things are rolling in assembly hall. Aw Joey BRONC Just it was so great being here watching the game we watched the Fox war room as they call it with thirty. TV's on the wall and all of our new colleagues league's We were trying to. I was trying to tell this joey. BRONC comes out of the gate dominating Michigan State and I said Joey Bronc is is the litmus test of big basketball of Indiana when Joey Bronx got the funk. I use rolling. That's how it works and the man came out. What do you have like a points in the first four minutes and then I think he's scored like two or four the rest? The game is fun though. Place Joy. Browne Yeah we've been seeing all see we didn't know of Indiana basketball is going to be back right. We're we're kind a little skittish you were saying. Don't talk about but I you. They've had a great start of the year. But don't bring them all this. They Smash Florida state wondering can we talk about the same. We even had someone. Walk in and says Indiana actually fourteen and four. That's amazing seizing. I didn't know that Joey Brunt win a game against Michigan State. They kind of set the tone of. Oh this is Indiana Basketball Joey. Bronx out there. The broncos are August Times My Dad who's obviously it was becoming a character on the show and we're GONNA have one show some point. He texted me in all caps hoosiers with like thirty exclamation point. So uh he he got the basketball because this was a quiet night from devante green. That's really what it is at my. My Dad is the biggest degree hater on earth. Well you probably I mean a lot of fans are are so but yes he got the stamp of approval. But how could you get the graphics congratulating Devante Green for Danny Green successes So yeah that that that was that was That was something that happened tonight was i. You'd be Michigan State allows lost. Oh thoughts before we get to the real meat potato this show Let's get. Let's get to what we really want to talk about. which is this Kansas? Kansas state fight We move on that is how do we as a country come together and heal from this initial thought state on everything that went down Silvio. Let's set the stage. I'm sure everyone's seen it by now. This what Wednesday night. This was last night Tuesday tonight. Tuesday nights ago Tuesday Friday Friday so I guess yes. Let's just say yeah Wednesday night. Yeah Eh so a line to you can text the Halley. Look this up. So we disown. Sorry always mispronounced mispronounced. Name like everyone else does Soviet association is drilling the lockout gets the ball stolen from him Blocks the shot of I forget who who. Who Was it? I forget who. The Kid was Tonio Gordon Antonio Gordon maybe somebody say that yeah. It doesn't matter the kid The Kansas State. He blocks the hell of a shot. which by the way one of the great in a vacuum that is one of the best block? I've ever seen in my life if you just take that part of the clip where he blocked a shot. I think I think the socio new which is why he stood over him. Don Gordon is what they're saying in our ears. Don Gordon the one Gordon Doin Gordon. You got you got you. Got Gregory Block name. Yeah so supposes over them and then all hell breaks loose. He grabs a chair. At one point. Punches are being thrown guys are coming off the Kansas State Bench My favorite part of all this and I want to get this out of the way because I will forget to say unless unless I say at the top was. There's a big scrum happening and friend for. She'll is on the call and I love for an for Sheila so much. He's one of my favorite commentators. His his big twelve knowledge is unbelievable. Voyage like he just knows every guy. He's he's perfect for calling victoire basketball but I love when when when these altercations happened and the guys are accommodating the games like the the brain almost can't like process it. I have all these notes ready for like rebounding margins and turnover charts and all this point I was not prepared to be Joe Rogan colony. UFC fight I tonight. And I'm really unsure of what's happening here so Francis kind of like ooh I don't I don't like it. This is bad and then a series of punches that he's like I'm ready to. I'm ready to offer my thoughts. This is bad. I was died at that. He's like I don't know I don't know what's this is. This is bad. This is definitely bad. I will say this. This all started because of Monmouth. And if you don't remember Mama. Th Busy was getting beat by fifty points early in the season against Kansas and this whole situation set up where McCain's again was dribbling out or just holding the ball into the game. We blew up forty points games over. Thanks for coming to Lawrence. We'll see later ball is stolen. Guy Goes Down dunks it should have been an one but it's not but it's a big moment mamas celebrates I'm excited and it was. He gets a tech. He was posing. Yes yes so. That was the precursor. I don't I think it's worth bringing because I don't think it's coincidence. I think that was on dissociates mine. Of course we'RE NOT GONNA bigger than the game. Even though they were like pretty big. You know the Monmouth kid did the interview like a couple of weeks later. I don't give a you know what I think I got. The team pretty hyped up or something and I was like She Saudi coach. Jr those great guys. Great coaches love. The Mama team. Oh God But I think you're absolutely right. I think if that doesn't happen then I don't think the fight with Kansas estate happens that's what I think there's residual resentment from that moment. So disown has a little bit of that building of this so I I give him a little bit of benefit the doubt but as soon as he throws the First Punch Wjr he knows the way that is coming and of course what we saw was the entire Kansas State team decides. The game is over. We are going to get into this fight. We're going to make this thing happen. Bruce Weber after the game says my team told me that the game was over so he kind of defends them without really definitive. It's kind of a wink wink deal. This wasn't this wasn't my responsibility. It doesn't matter whether they're my basketball players but when the clock zero they become private citizens and I am not responsible for Yeah so so what we we all know that the the that we saw Dissociate get suspended for twelve games. This is what I want to talk about this. This is the real thing because I don't think there's really we I mean what commentary offer on the fight. It was this kind of behavior can tolerate ultimately no one was actually hurt. which doesn't mean it's like I'm excusing like it was head? It was very bad. You can't do this to Sosa. I think Sosa. Let's get to this point so suspended for twelve games right McCormack who was on the floor at the time for Kansas but he was like all the way on the other end to stand in the corner? Is the clock getting dribbled out Gordon steals the ball goes up to the Latte McCormick still. Doesn't it really move. He doesn't start moving until like the fight breaks out and he's like Oh give me some of that and started sprinting. Down to the other end to start throwing haymakers. He get suspended. Two Games for Kansas industry had two guys suspended. James Love was in street. Clothes the the guy in the if you've seen the clubs he's the guy in the black shirt that just comes in and just way on everyone he gets suspended eight games and then Antonio Gordon who also came in off the bench and Who was not in the game at the time but he number eleven comes in? He gets to spend three games. which like I? I've watched it a few times. I don't really know what he you did deserve three. I mean it came off the bench. Relate he he wasn't the most egregious but this is the point I.

"Mania. Todd mcshay is will Greer hurting his draft stock by sitting out of the bowl? I don't think. So it's a disturbing trend. I honestly, maybe I'm naive. I honestly didn't think we'd start to see quarterbacks and as part of this whole mix, I really didn't. And you know, we can talk about whether they should be held a different standard or not. I know Trevor got into that discussion yesterday. The bottom line is will Greer got an opportunity to go to West Virginia after mistakes made at Florida and they brought him in. He's never played in a bowl game. Why wouldn't you wanna go and play in this game finish out your career? And then go. Go and pursue the NFL. He's not going to be a first round pick. I do think he's going to be probably second or third round pick. When it's all said and done, and I understand it. I understand the concern about durability. He got injured last year. And also the opportunity to start preparing for that process. Getting ready to get NFL verbiage and getting on the board in front of executives, etc. But at the end of the day, I just I really didn't see this coming and I'm surprised that will Greer's of the first quarterback to make this decision. I see differently. I I'll give you two words. Washington Redskins West Virginia, just an easy drive from Washington DC. And in the last few weeks will Greer would have seen and seeing all the media coverage of two quarterbacks. They're break their leg. Alex Smith was it was a horrific injury that threatens not just as career, but his quality of life going forward. Then a couple of weeks later, his backup Colt McCoy broke his leg as well. Though. Not nearly as severely that brings back memories. Then of McKenzie Milton of university of central Florida had a horrific break more similar to. Alex smith. And if you're will Greer, you go home everyday to your wife and your daughter, and you're thinking where do I have the most obligation to them to make sure that I secure at least that first contract in the NFL or to my teammates in what amounts to an exhibition game. And I think he did the right thing by stepping out of this game because of the obligations that he had if I'm will Greer what I'm thinking is Alex Smith and Colt McCoy got paid for getting hurt MacKenzie. Wilton that UCF did not get paid for getting hurt. And it's not worth the risk not. Now, I understand. I'm not disagreeing at all. With what you're saying. I guess it was just me again being naive thinking quarterbacks are kind of wired differently. And and look at it in a different way with the leadership and trying to be there for your team. But I've always said, listen, I don't want it. I don't like the trend. I don't want to see it continue to grow even though we know it's going to and it's happening right in front of our eyes. And I was on the field. Jalen smith. And I I watched him have that horrific leg injury. And it was on the field with Jake. But and I watched him after. Sitting now with both young men the day before and talking to them and talking about that about their NFL futures. And seeing just the devastation in their is as they get carted off the field. So I understand it. And I get it. I just surprised that he's the the first quarterback major quarterback that we see make this decision. We can understand it. And not like, it, those things are usually exclusive. And I think that's the way it is with will. And all these guys that are deciding to sit out missing out of the Camping World bowl means he will miss out on a four hundred dollar best buy gift card as well. As an OG backpack with the luggage tag to he should get so watch I know fossil watch will if you're watching this stuff. I mean, you may.

"It's ridiculous. Twenty two draft picks the last two years eight in the first round four each of the past few years, and I'm looking at it this year, they've got eleven or twelve more guys that are going to get drafted and three to five potential first rounder. So they they alone could beat some of these other conferences, you mentioned geography Trevor and where they're located. We got signing day coming up early signing period December nineteenth or the ESPN three hundred more than half of those in the ESPN three hundred or located in states within the southeastern conference footprints. Sometimes you're right states. And teams are just a victim. Of where they're located in the United States. So we got a lot more to get to here on college football live, including will Greer just the latest to decide not to play in a bowl game this trend isn't going anywhere. But is there a way to stop it? Snub that that trend? We'll see what happens there. We'll get our takes on that. You can watch players actually play college football games on Saturdays bull season officially begins on ABC, North Carolina. A and t takes on alcohol corn state in the air force. "Then he did a touchdown dense. At least he was still good at that. Time now for the BMW ultimate performance Cuyler Murray. Maybe you've heard of them became the seventh Oklahoma sooner to win the Heisman Trophy. But that's not all congratulations Schuyler. This OC press says deemed you worthy of being called a first team all American ill face off in the college football playoff semifinals against the guy. He beat out for the Heisman Trophy to talk about low his his second team all American ten of the first team selections from teams in the CFP four of them play for the tie. You got quitting Williams their Clemson with Cleland Farrell and Christian Wilkins tournament. Your biggest takeaway from the all American lists. Biggest takeaway was Who Wasn't There for do had more first team all Americans than Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State combined? That's one with Rondell more. They're terrific receivers slash running back. And I it kind of is surprising because in August Todd. I think most of us thought that the big ten east was one of the two. Toughest divisions all of college football. Yeah. Yeah. No question in the preseason. We would have said Rashawn Gary and Vic Bosa it's that's no brainer. They're both in obviously, the seasons didn't go as expected for either of those guys. But I go to Michigan specifically on that defensive side. I thought chased winna vich was a player that really deserve to be on the list and Devin Bush the. The linebacker who was believe second team to me. He's one of the first team guys. I mean, he was one of the best linebackers in all of college football and going back to win a vich. He outplayed he outplayed Rashawn Gary this entire season. If you look at production wise, and if you just put on the tape, so those are two guys that I thought really deserve to be there in the first team and didn't see their names. And you know, I thought that Dextra Lawrence the defense attack over Clemson deserve to be at least up on the thirteen. That's where it Oliver was Houston and all of our disappeared. A lot this year. He had injury that he had to deal with. But as I was watching capon him sometimes trying to find plays that I could use for a great breakdown on him. It took me a long time to find him doing something, actually. And so he's still he's a great player. But I think from the standpoint of body of work this year, I think Dextra Lawrence deserve to be in that group of first team through thirteen when you look at the first teamers, and you break it down by conference for those Associated Press all Americans. It's the SEC at the top with eleven more than. Double that of the next most with the ACC Alabama players accounted for six of the eleven SEC first teamers so saw the SEC as the most all Americans does that mean, the SEC's the most talented conference at all the land. Absolutely. We say it every year, whether it's all Americans whether it's just watching the tape or the NFL draft, it's every single year. It seems like at least for the past decade that we've talked about it. The other thing that really stands out. Where's the Pac twelve there's no representation from the pack twelve there. And I mean, I understand the conference did not have a great year this year. But when you look at it, they're worth some some pretty good players in that conference. But nobody from that from the pack twelve is that the west coast bias, or is it they just had a huge down here. It's interesting. Yeah. And we look at the the the all Americans the the players drafted the NFL Todd, you know, more than most about how many of these guys end up in the league compared to other conferences. I part of it is is where they are. In other words there in Florida Atlanta, south Louisiana, some of the hottest recruiting beds in the country to go with places in Ohio in Texas and California, but they're just all right there. And that's where the passion is there so much passion for football other places. You get some great football players playing on the sports. But in the south, if you're a great football player, it's football that you're playing, and I think that's one of the reasons that there's so much talent there that uses to stay home and Alabama every year..

"The if they lose in the semi final game on the twenty ninth right after that is that is black Monday. Even the NFL teams are gonna come calling, and it's going to be very interesting to see if he's tempted, but I still think he has more work to do in Oklahoma. Trevor I agree. And I think though that he would be out of his mind to leave Oklahoma and go to the NFL anytime soon, he can use those offers from the NFL to boost his own contract, and the contracts of his assistant coaches, so that's all good. But he's got a good thing going at a place, Oklahoma that has a history of keeping coaches there for for over a decade, he could build not just a career there, but a life there, and there's something to be said for that. And when you talk about those NFL teams coming in to learn his offense. He's developing relationships with them and that offense trickles into. Or concepts from it trickle into the NFL those off its coordinators will figure out how to implement it correctly, which things work which things don't how you pair Oklahoma concepts with NFL concepts and make it work. And when he goes into the NFL at some point down the road, if he wants to then somebody else will have already made the mistakes and gotten it up and running Lincoln Riley, two years as a head coach to Schmidt trophy winners to college football playoff appearances. That's cold efficiency. Not a bad resume in college football. So far for coach Lincoln Riley up next here on college football live. It's a ward season where the media bestows the highest honors on college football players, including that of all American. We'll see what they did with the list. As again boy Gavin loved playing football. He lived in briefed wanted to go through when he'd spent hours upon hours just to see his touchdown dances at one day. Well, getting fitted for bifocals, he realized he was never much good at throwing or running or catching don't even kicking Gavin's chances of playing pro football. We're looking like fourth and long very long, but he did hear how could save money on car insurance. So he switched and save..

"All right. So Chris climbing the last power five head coaching vacancy to be filled has he replaces Bill Snyder at Kansas state. We mentioned that we thought we'd be on this ride for a while. But it's over after that job was filled again Ryan date set to take over for urban Meyer's. You have that change in command the coaching carousel has stopped spinning which begs the question Todd who's the big winner program wise of this year's coaching carousel season. I'm gonna go Colorado with Mel Tucker. I thought that was a great hire. You know, you've got a guy who's has three different stops in the NFL has been a coordinator with Chicago Bears as spent time with excitement in Alabama. Now, Georgia knows how to recruit he's he's obviously has. Very good understanding of defensive football and Colorado's a tough place to sell from the standpoint that you know, they haven't been a hugely winning program over the years is everyone in that area boulder. Buying into two football program is that a priority at that school and to get a guy like Mel Tucker to come from the background that he came from. I thought was a really good higher by Colorado. Plus better skiing in Colorado form than in Georgia. I think so there's always perks right for him. I think it's Mike Loxley at Maryland. He's got a long history in that area. And there has fantastic high school football player to the DMV area. Quick look at their roster shows that they've got about a dozen guys just from the Matha high school, which is a national powerhouse in a whole bunch of others as well and locks. Lisa kind of recruiter that can continue that pipeline. That's the first thing they need. But there's something else. I think flies under the radar with Loxley there with the death of Jordan McNair during a workout the next coach coming in. We'll have to figure out how to balance pushing the players to get everything they can. And having credibility. So that the parents and the players will know that he's not pushing too hard and Loxley having been with Nick Sabin can tell them I know where that line is. I know how to get up to that line. But not cross it. I know how to protect your players because I've seen it done. I've done it with Nick Sabin. I think that's an important credibility thing. Moving forward at Maryland. He's also gone through personal tragedy himself lost his son recently and by sat down and talk to them at Alabama when getting ready for a game. And you know, he's open about it. And he's the the talk that he had in the discussion that you had about how he's had is just use it to move on and push on. And I think some of those lessons he's learned he can share with the family there Maryland now, and and I you know, they can kind of work work with one another, and I just sitting with him and talking to him you get the sense that he's a special guy and he's on a mission. And I think he's he's the right guy for that job. You guys both picked Nick Sabin, former Nick Sabin assistance. Eleven of those in that category. Are now F B S head coach is by the way, I'll throw to more out at you Purdue. And I was state didn't have to replace their head coach Jeff Brom Matt Campbell big winners there in those respective programs as they get new deals there's another guy there's another guy that's being mentioned and Oklahoma's hoping he's not part of a coaching carousel, especially the NFL level Lincoln Riley, Todd should Lincoln Riley, the head coach of the Sooners pursue or consider NFL head coaching -tunities. Well, I can tell you this. He's he's going to get a handful of them because he's the hottest name in NFL circles right now teams from the NFL are flying into go see him in the off season to pick his brain authencity. And then the other thing I think that gets overlooked with Lincoln is how steady he is a leader. He's not just like the offense of guru guy. Who's got it all figured out on that side of the ball? He's running the program the right way. And he really steady hand he is. I'm always impressed by him in the way, he carries himself and how he relates to the young men, and and how he has the organization if you will moving all together in the right direction. It's going to be interesting to see what the timing. Now..

"It's I honestly would struggle with it because you can stay and have success. You know that it's built in North Dakota state. But this is a challenge. In addition to what Trevor is your said with the money and the families, and I totally understand that. But I think there's always that that challenge of wanting to take a program that you know, it's going to be difficult. You know, that you're going up against the the Texas is an Oklahoma's every year, and and how are you going to be able to recruit guys that come in there and do it? You wanna go prove to yourself as a coach that I can get this done and know that I can take on some of the big boys and knock him off. So I I think it's a great opportunity. It's a challenge. And I think that's how he's looking at it. And I think though that when you talk about the challenge of getting Kansas state backup to nationally prominent level when you look at the recruiting you did the North Dakota state. He's got a bunch of guys in there from Florida. I mean, there's a lot of guys from the surrounding states of North Dakota Villanova was Constan places like that all that stuff is generally within the report, the recruiting footprint of Kansas state to a degree. Florida though too had that pipeline into Florida if he can get those athletes to Fargo North Dakota, he can certainly get them and more to Manhattan, Kansas. Why think he's already got a head start interesting. When you think about it, North Dakota state has more national championships in the last five years than Kansas state has conference championships in the history of the program. So we'll see how Chris climate does Kansas state. How about this this comparison, North Dakota state and Alabama? You look at it since two thousand eleven North Dakota state six national titles, Alabama with four who has the most impressive run Todd. I mean, it's gotta be Alabama. But but to the point I think it's amazing what they've done, you know, and you've got to put it on scale, obviously when you're talking about Bama, they're competing with the best of the best North Dakota state, they're competing with the the same level in in really the same opportunity for the same types of recruits. So I'm not taking anything away from North Dakota state. They've been awesome to watch. But it'd be able to do it at the highest level. Is is really the challenge. Now. It's absolutely North Dakota state. Margin forever. I mean, they've got so much in terms of depth of recruiting depth of finances depth of resources if they ever took a step back. They would be right back into thick of it really soon. Whereas North Dakota state doesn't have those kinds of resources if they take step back it's harder to build it back up. I think the consistency. There is even harder to maintain that it Alabama. All right. You sold me Trevor, you're right. North Dakota state. It's a we love that. When when we could just come to a consensus here, by the way, North Dakota state two wins away from their seventh national title in eight years, Alabama five national titles in their last nine years..

"It's the Tuesday. They should have college football live Matt Trevor and Todd along for the ride speaking rides guys we hopped on that power five coaching carousel. We were looking forward to a bunch of revolutions along ride. And then just like that the rides over everybody off all the jobs are filled in the power five after the hiring of Chris climate at Kansas state record of sixty seven six and five years with the bison, including three FCS national championships. He will coach the team through the rest of this year's playoff before joining the cats. It's a six year deal. Trevor start with you is climbing a good fit in Manhattan. Absolutely. He brings a relentless focus on discipline process and family, and that's one of the reasons that coach Snyder succeeded so well when you watch this North Dakota state team play they remind me of the New England Patriots in the way, they fly around with great energy. But with great focus. There's no wasted motion. And off the field. They're a family. I think that's. What Kansas state needs? I would tend to agree. Have to wonder how big the pool was for Kansas state, considering how difficult it is to recruit players there. Get him to even come in for recruiting visits. They have had success in the past obviously under coach Snyder. But I think when you bring in a coach who's sixty seven and six as you mentioned the national championships. He knows success. He knows what a program that has success looks like and how to operate it. I think it's a good fit. It makes sense. I know it's a power five job versus NFC s. But Trevor what's the better job, North Dakota state or Kansas state? You know? You know on the field within the community. You gotta edge toward the bison. But I think overall Kansas state absolutely you've got access to the pinnacle of college football there. You've got access to far greater resources and for your coaching staff and yourself you've got access to far greater compensation that matters one thing that that head coaches think about is the wellbeing of the families of some of their younger assistant coaches guys that don't make very much money that are just one loss job away from being some financial trouble. And they want those people to have security as well. And that's a curious as much more likely to come at a bigger place with more resources like Kansas state Schick, that's a good question to come up with new hope. I did in fact emails chained at at through that one out there thought it gets you. All right..
